How was the show????

the show itself was sooooo good. he looked so beautiful 🥹 it was insane seeing live the things i’ve seen him doing just in videos for the last 5 years (i’m in the airport rn and i don’t wanna get emotional in the middle of a crowd but yeah !!! sometimes he would something, like that side smirk, and i couldn’t believe he was doing that in front of me and not through a screen). he sounded amazing in every song, but he nailed the high notes in angels fly and his breath control in wayof was incredible. and the crowd !!!!!!!!!!!!! i don’t how it looked on the videos/live, but it was super loud. i was only able to hear him by the end of the greatest (and barely). very loud, excited and people were vibing, dancing and yelling to every song (the only one we didn’t sing loudly along with was chemical, because it’s a new cover).

and you could see how happy he was ????? ofc i’m biased but he truly looked like he was having the time of his life, specially in songs like the greatest, because it was the opening, kmm, because it’s reminiscent of walls, and hoth, because it’s a crowd fave (i can’t stress enough how loud everyone sang this song, i think i dissociated in the next one because i was trying to get over what just had happened 😭), and waoyf, because it’s a slutty song for a slutty country! he also looked so proud and that’s how i found out i craved the validation of an english man… i noticed what he meant when he said shows here are about everyone enjoying the music and not only specific groups of people, because everywhere you looked people were vibing.

barricade was INSANE. we were so lucky no one got hurt because the entire premium pit was moving fast in the direction he went, in every direction you can imagine. i obviously wasn’t able to touch him (if i had i would be here to tell the story), but i could see him and he’s so beautiful. i can’t get over it. half of the things i said last night were various of pretty. i love him. i’m afraid me and parasocial relationship are soooo back.

i gotta be honest, i don’t get how people go to his show and pay attention to anything but him. the only time i noticed his band was when they entered the stage because the show was late and we were all waiting for them 😭 once was louis showed up, i had eyes for no one else and i didn’t want to look at anyone else. that being said, i think they had fun too. there was a moment the light was on steve and he was laughing loudly at isaac o michael and vice-versa.

giant rooks was also great! i’ll have to listen to their setlist for saturday because their performance live was top notch and the stage presence was insane.

that’s not to say things were perfect… they opened the gates later than they should and did everything in their power to slow down. then giant rooks’ started late and louis missed the time for about 20 minutes. i also tripped and scrapped harshly both of my knees and lightly my elbow and spent the entire show bleeding….. but as val said, nothing more me than hurting my knees for louis <3

Hi! Funny that you ask that bc i was just thinking about it earlier today. I had a phase where watching talent shows was my guilty pleasure 😭, i used to watch them every weekend. And one day i stumbled upon the X-factor UK and decided to watch it (especially that it was the one talent show where all those famous bands rose to fame). I watched it till the end, i was rooting for Anthony and after he went home for Dalton (both contestants had Louis as a judge. Huh! What a surprise 😀) and idk how but Louis made his way to my heart without me even noticing it 😭 bc two weeks after the show ended, i found myself still missing the perfectionist blue eyed boybander (sorry for the lame description but that's what the show labeled him as: a memeber of the world famous boyband that came from this very show 😮‍💨). Anyway, you know when they jokingly say someone or something lives in your mind rent free, it was exactly that. Idk but his picture especially his eyes from the initial auditions (with that black shirt and THAT haircut) kept popping in my head at random times during the day. Something about him just kept haunting me i was actually so annoyed at the time 😭 bc ok the man is gorgeous and i found the contrast between that guarded serious look he wore most of the time at the show and that crinkly eyed smile (he has the most beautiful smile i swear 😩) he shows up with at rehearsals interesting but that was it, why did i feel the need to actively look him up and check his music? I watched tens of these shows before and not once did i ever have any urge or interest to know more about any of the judges, so what's so special about this Louis 😭 (a stupid cow i know) so i resisted at first but about two weeks later i've had enough and decided to check him/ his music out and the rest is history. I listened to his solo songs and the ones he wrote for 1D and i remmember really liking them, they got me hooked for future releases from him. Love me a good lyricist 😌 especially a male one bc since i was a teenager i had a hard time finding music that i like since i don't enjoy music with bad lyrics about eating p*ssy . Then two of us happened and it was just so beautiful ❤️‍🩹, it was then that i became a Louis "stan" not just a casual fan. Ngl i wasn't the biggest fan of Kmm when it was first released but i enjoyed it still. When he did that ccmf and performed all those unreleased songs, i knew then and there that this man will never write a bad song and i'll be a fan of his music for a long time. And after the first listen of walls (the album) i knew i'll always be his fan 🫶🏽.

If I end up actually making it happen won't be the same, but the concept is still there! It WILL be pretty angsty but fuck I think it will be so neat?

Hi Nawal! Thank you for saying that. I did have an amazing time in the show, but honestly after DMA'S Louis my body was so tired already for some logistics that happened at the venue, but the good part was that when the Louis started I forgot about everything and enjoy the moment.

Anyway talking about the positives with the fan projects I'm so glad that they work and I'm so happy that there were cameras to capture them, I really couldn't tell for where I was if they were working out or if they look good I was doing my part and hoping for the best.

I saw the videos of the fan projects and I'm so proud that we could give this to Louis and show a glimpse of what the fandom has been over this 3 years of tour. This was possible because all the fans, the Kill My Mind fan project look incredible and this was thanks to the fans in Chile that created this and others fans projects over the years has been part of the tradition to make Louis show even more special that what they already are. And we honor that with the show in Mexico City.

He love the rainbow lights for SIBWAWC, I kind of like the idea to keep that tradition for future shows it looks really cool with first the rainbow lights during the song and then with the surrounded in the "by lights" you put your phone up, then down in surrounded and you repeat the same action, similar to the kmm fan project, after that there was supposed to be a wave of rainbow lights that started at the beginning of the first section and ended at the last section but I don't think that work or at least I haven't see a video. I still hope someone can do this in the future I love doing waves is so fun in shows in México, here is one for Harry's show we usually do waves without lights but this one with lights looks even better.

The Walls project consisted in having fan sings with Mexico Loves You and the sections have colors for the mexican flag and for this photo seem like it work.

The Saturdays fan project was having white and red lights and the first sections with hearts that said you take the pain away, it look really pretty.

I don't why I'm rambling explaining the fan projects lol.

I saw the livestream and the video doesn't do justice of how loud we were at the show, everyone was singing so loud during the songs and on the breaks yelling Louis name or saying Louis hermano ya eres mexicano (Louis, brother you are mexican/already mexican) is like a national mexican anthem for him at this point. Louis knew about this during the aotv premiere in México but probably already forgot it and his spanish is not good but I hope somoene told him what we were saying, maybe Oli 👀 there were rumours he speaks Spanish, rumours that I need to know if they are true lol.

The First Gig - Chapter 2 : For you

Lxx made their way toward the heart of the undercity, deep in the fissures, passing by Benzo’s old shop before arriving at the Pearl. Once a beautiful white building where their parents sold mining equipment and all sorts of wares. Now the walls have a greenish sick tint and cracks running through them.

Lxx’s father took great care of keeping the place as clean as he could but since his passing, the building slowly fell apart even with the efforts Lxx has put into it.

Being behind a counter was not the dream job for Lxx but with the help of Kmm, Spk and Hans, an older man, friend of the family who keep the shop running while the three others work on their band. The shop was doing good, or at least as good as a small shop in Zaun could.

“Hey there little ruby ! Had a good practice ?” Said the man waving at Lxx as they passed through the door.

“Yeah, the new song is coming out hot and heavy like it should. Oh and we got a gig ! We’re playing in two days” 

“A gig ? Now that’s some good news ! I’ll take care of the shop while you show the world you’re talent then”

“Thank you so much Hans, you're a lifesaver.”

“Anything for you my dear, I owe him that”

“I can manage the closing if you want to go home early today”

“That’s kind of you little ruby” He says, picking up his worn coat and making his way outside. “Have a good evening.”

The shop being empty, Lxx sat down on a chair and allowed themself to take in the emotions. Sitting silently gazing at the wall as if the answers to all questions were hiding in the cracks. But like always there was nothing but a blurry mess, a big inexpressible mess of strong feelings overwhelming each other and in the center was Lxx, trying to make sense of it.

The minutes flew by, but after a while they took a big breath, whipped the salty drops on their cheeks and focused back on reality. They started tidying up the shop and closed the Pearl for the day before making their way up the stairs to the apartment where they lived with their mother.

They were surprised to find her in the kitchen, sipping on a tea cup while humming an old tune. “Hey mom ! Did you braid your hair yourself ? It looks great !” Said Lxx noticing the tightly knotted white hair framing her mom’s face. “Aww thank you Lxx you’re sweet, Neya came by earlier to have some tea and she made this” She answered, turning her head to show off the new hair cut. “I used to braid them myself, had them all the time, your father always said that they made his heart jump.” Seeing her mother’s eyes turn dark and knowing the patterns at play, Lxx intercepted the fall, quickly taking her hands. “You are beautiful mom, I love you” and then embracing her in a soft hug.

Letting go of the hug Lxx continued “Mom, you’re not gonna believe what happened during our practice today”. They explained everything in detail keeping to themself their doubts. Their mother listened carefully, a proud smile filling up her face. “In two days you say, I can’t miss that, I’ll do what I can to be there.”

Lxx knew that she probably would not be able to come, between her grief and her addiction, her mother seldom left the house. But nonetheless they were happy to have her support.

They talked about their day for a while, Lxx preparing a somewhat acceptable dinner with what they managed to buy at the market. Seeing their mom lively and smiling warmed their heart, some days were not so bad afterall.

They helped their mother get up to her room as per usual, it wasn’t hard, she wasn’t called Feather  for no reason. Wished her goodnight and took the direction of their bedroom. It was a small room, covered in drawings and writings on one part, the other left emptier, there were two beds but Lxx was alone. They walked past theirs and lit a candle like they did every night.  “Good evening sis… Something happened today, something good I think. You would have been so happy.” Tears started blurring Lxx vision as their throat felt tighter and tighter. “We dreamed about this for so long. You were supposed to be the one at the front. The one people cheered for as you sang… I’m not big enough for those shoes. I feel like a clown,  an actor playing your part” They took a deep breath, this had been a long tiring day. “At least I’m good at that I guess..” A shy smile appeared on their face as they shook their head. “Sorry I know you would make your ‘stop-undermining-yourself’ face right now. I’ll do my best, I’ll make you proud I promise.” Blowing out the candle they stood back up before letting themself fall on their bed. “Good night Lzz, I miss you”.

ARC REVIEW: The House at Watch Hill by Karen Marie Moning

The Basics:

After the shocking death of her mother, Zo Gray is broke and directionless--until she gets a call from a lawyer realizing that a previously unknown relative left her a massive inheritance in Divinity, Louisiana. Before the house and the money is officially hers, however, she has to live in this intimidating, mysterious home--and put up with the suspicious townspeople--alone for three years. She can hardly say no--and the groundskeeper is quite hot--but Zo can't ignore the odd happenings in the mansion. Like doors that go to nowhere. And what about the secrets surrounding her lineage? They could be more mysterious than she'd possibly imagine..

The Review:

Okay, so first off--for the purposes of my blog, just have to make it clear: this isn't a romance novel. It was categorized as such on NetGalley, and I do (as someone who hasn't read Karen Marie Moning before) believe that the author has a reputation as a romance novelist. But this isn't one. Like, there are romantic setups--potentially more than one. There is sex. And there is more to be seen in the next book, I imagine. As of now, however, this is much more about urban fantasy witchcraft than it is about the love story.

So, while I do think there definitely could've been more development devoted to characters like Devlin and his dynamic with Zo... What was clearly more important to the story was Zo's relationship with her late mother, her dynamic with her friend Este (which I loved) and the mysterious attorney James Balfour.

I really liked Zo as a protagonist--she's not a shrinking violet, but she also isn't this Headstrong Female Protagonist. She's struggled in life, she's looking for safety and security, and she's ready to jump on a good opportunity, even if it's pretty creepy. I relate to that--and I think a lot of people in their twenties and thirties for that matter will relate to that, especially during the tough times we've been going through economically as a nation. Her love for her mother and pain over her loss is palpable--I'm fortunate enough to still have my mom, but it was really visceral and made me a bit emotional. Based on the dedication at the beginning of the novel, this entire story felt deeply personal, and I respect that.

As I said before, this was my first Karen Marie Moning book. I like her writing style--even when the pace of the story isn't super fast, the actual texture and tone is, if that makes sense? It keeps you reading, it keeps you compelled. I do typically enjoy a good bit more romance in a story, but I was by no means bored or frustrated here.

I also really liked the worldbuilding with regard to the witches. It was quite fun, and seemed to me a blend of more recent urban fantasy trends and more Witch Classic stuff. Which worked for me as someone who enjoys Witch Classic. The vampires could have used more explanation and expansion, but based on the ending of this book, I do think that will happen.

The Sex:

I did find this kind of frustration. One of the thing the book establishes early, which I really liked, was that Zo is very unapologetically sexual. She's more sexual than she is romantic, and you don't see that too often, even now, with female leads. There's no shame; it's very sex positive.

But like... the sex scenes are basically just described vaguely in retrospect. I wouldn't call it closed door, but it's pretty close. And because they're described as so mind-blowing, and because sex is actually kind of important to the magic and the story here... I felt a little thrown off. I also know, based on what other people have shown me and discussed about KMM's other books, that this is probably a shift. At least from her notable works. So I was a little let down there.

That said, if you're good with low heat sex scenes, or for that matter just don't care either way, it'll be totally irrelevant. By no means does it damage the book's quality, I just do think there are expectations that should be set and that's what reviews are for!

Overall, this is an entertaining, well-paced read that's perfect for October. If you're into witches, you're going to be pleased--and I definitely want to read more from this author (and the next in the series).

Hi, I've read all your thoughts on the setlist and tend towards agreeing but I do see the side of the argument around keeping the festival set list upbeat and Louis's experience from stage would be that those 1D covers are very popular. I'm a new fan, so I miss HOTH and the Megamix terribly. Would you be willing to share what you think would be a good festival setlist?

Hi, anon. I don't think needing up beat songs is a problem. Most of fitf ones are. I'm not really equiped to put a full coherent setlist together. I think a lot of thought must get into that so i'll leave that to Louis and Steve 😅. But, i'm going to share with you the changes that i think he should do and the songs that he should put in no particular order. Out of the current setlist, in my opinion he should only keep the fitf songs, kmm and 1 one direction cover. There are songs that are A MUST on the setlist. Not putting HOTH on that setlist is INSANITY. All this time is magical it should've been there too. Not singing headline while headlining festivals? A CRIME. Bigger than me is literally fitf's lead single like be serious Louis. Saturdays or common people instead of walls (no pressure though i know walls is very special to him). Also, instead of BTY I would love it if he would do a new walls or pre-walls era every show or couple of shows (he can start with the popular ones to gain confidence. Bty, miss you, jho, always you, defenceless 😋). Maybe he can alternate between Chicago and Hoth or Chicago and Saturdays sometimes too. Anyway, in no particular order i think this makes for a good setlist (PS: i added Hic bc apparently he has extra time yesterday so if it happens in the future, he should use that time to perform an extra song 🫶). PS: the blue color are songs that should never be taken off the setlist, the rest he can choose whatever song of his he wants
