6/24/22 will go down as one of the worst days in my life. Most of the moments of it were fine. But the day just sucked. It fucking sucked. Not even watching my cats play together. Not even learning that my dog will be fine with my brother during my upcoming vacation because he's on his trial overnight and it's going well can surmount the absolutely crushing feeling of losing what has been a constitutional right my entire life. I now have less bodily autonomy than my fucking corpse and that has honestly just been crushing me all day.

     “Isera…”  He’d began. He’d prepared himself for many outcomes to this particular situation. Meeting her again, after all this time. The first on the list of possibilities he’d considered, were of course, rather unpleasant. He knew, that had he been the young man he once was and in her shoes– he would have been angry. He would have been hurt and confused, and ready to lash out.

     So it came as more than a surprise when he found that her reaching arms tucking themselves tightly around him were not in an angry grip of any sort– but in an embrace. Tight and sudden as the squeezing around him was– it was… not unpleasant.  Maker, no– Not at all.     It was as if someone had opened a dam in his chest. Something he’d barely been aware existed inside himself. Relief, joy, and bittersweetness flooded through him. A quiet “Maker” escapes him only once he slowly, tentatively had come to reciprocate the hug. And then all at once, he’s holding her just as tightly. Offering as much to her as she’d been wanting to squeeze from him.     Hands glide over her shoulders and he holds her a little ways away; just far enough to look at her. He regards her fondly; yet his eyes search her face for a moment, as if he were unsure what he should be feeling… but coming eventually to settle on something one could only describe as pride.   “Look at you…”  he murmurs through growing smile, with a twinkle in his eye that none had seen in years– decades.                   Look at everything you’ve done… Everything you’ve accomplished…                      Everything you’ve become.  I’m so… proud of you, Isera…      There was so much he wished he could say in that moment; so much that he felt needed saying. She deserved an explanation; some sort of reasoning for why he was here and how. He only wished that he had one for her.
