Between watching The X files and 9-1-1, and the Buffy The Vampire Slayer podcast I'm listening to, I feel like I'm being haunted by Brian Thompson (who I ironically primarily associate with his role in Charmed). This feeling culminated with last weeks episode of 9-1-1 wherein, at one point, he directed someone to go up into the roof, pronouncing it "ruhf" at which point I was suddenly struck by the reminder that he sure did grow up in Central Washington

#brian thompson #txf #911 abc #btvs #look it's subtle but there is a distinct accent in the central washington area that's not quite like anywhere else #like it's mostly similar to northern California and Seattle #but there are certain words where the pronunciation gets kinda. hick? plus that intrusive R in wash #and roof is one of those words #i realize that for those outside the pnw it's not common knowledge that there's two Washingtons #nor is it apparently known on the west side that there's actually three Washingtons #but there's two mountain ranges and they create a natural deviation in culture
