completely personal preference obviously but i hate when there's a time travel fix-it and everything goes smoothly and the protagonist is just cool and confident with all their knowledge of the ruined future. nooo shut up. what is even the point if they're not an emotionally traumatized mess frantically trying to fix things and fucking up as they do so, keeping secrets and alienating their loved ones, causing new and interesting problems and barely scraping through to an eventual better ending

little bit of insight for you. people who are like "oh when I complained about people who [do thing] I wasn't complaining about disabled people who do it because of their disability. I'm perfectly fine with disabled people" yeah those people don't tend to be fine with disabled people, and in fact tend to be incredibly hostile to the idea that people exist who have different needs from their own. the person who says they want to kill all slow walking people will not learn how to be patient just because they noticed that you're using a mobility aid

Watching Independence Day bc of the reference in Fight The Future. Watching You've Got Mail so I can understand fanfic referencing it. Figured out I can hack my brain and finally sit down and watch something by convincing myself of other medias weak connection to this media. Many such cases.

Is the reason some people hate or dislike Doggett because he’s not Mulder? Is it because he “replaced” Mulder (for two seasons)? And why do some people think Doggett disrespects Scully? 🤨

I think he’s a misunderstood or misjudged character by his haters. Like yeah, when we (the audience) meet Doggett, we’re not meant to like him. Just as Scully doesn’t like him. We all want to throw that water on his face.

But over time Scully grows to like Doggett, to trust him, to respect him—look at their hug in Alone. She even offers to get him his own desk in just his third episode (she never had a desk 😭)! She understands what he’s going through working on the X Files because she herself was once in his shoes—a sceptic and a newbie to the unit. Yeah, they have their different opinions and that’s okay, just as Mulder and Scully had their different opinions.

One thing that does annoy me a bit is their constant referring to each other as “Agent Scully” and “Agent Doggett” (Medusa, omfg). Drop the “Agent” already! lol
