Theres been so many amazing additions to this post I love khux so much jfhdkhdid
I cant believe I forgot to mention spirit pets and pvp!!!!! Remember when we all thought Brain made the dream eaters and then the finale Did That lol
Tbh I remember when pvp was added I was extremely impressed with how it was handled lore wise, it was an incredibly smart move to let wielders fight each other but without any real competition that could lead to another war due to everyone understanding it was just data recreations and how that fact alone led to new developments irt strelitzia and the reveal that they were still in the data
Another thing I forgot to mention is how in unchained chi/union cross, there is NO keyblade war in the main quests. I remember everyone was really confused when we got to that point in the game and everyone was like??? But in chi this is when the war happened????? And now we know its because we were just reliving the events but without those sad memories like I mentioned in the original post, and how that manifested in khux as dreams and it was a side event disconnected from the main plot.
Playing in real time gave the player real impact when it came to Ephemera too, which I saw people mention in tags. Like there was a very noticeable empty space with him gone and some people might know I used to actually really hate Ephemera because I felt so betrayed lmao, and I think people now don't understand how much khux fans love Skuld for that reason because in those months you played without Ephemera, you did EVERYTHING with Skuld leading up to the war so it made it easy to get very attached to her so imo it made me sad how skuld was kinda shoved aside in union cross but that's not what this is about,
But also speaking of Skuld, someone mentioned parties being important to plot too! And if you never played khux, you could form parties with friends and help each other in boss battles or play multiplayer. Skuld was a party leader and had Ephemera in her party before he switched unions, which I always thought was a neat bit of lore (fun fact canonically the player, Skuld and Eph are in Anguis and Eph switches to Unicornis, most likely to get closer to Ira as the leader of the foretellers to get the book lbr) and a MAJOR part of khux gameplay thats rarely talked about is the NPC's the player is friends with. In English fandom a lot of people call them the sewer squad since you first meet them in the sewers and they're in basically every event and holiday sidequest and it can be read as this is the player's party if you didn't have one yourself. And tbh I know it meant a lot to see these NPCs in the ending scene with the dream eaters because these guys really were loved by the player base and tbh its a real shame the only one that has a canon name is Mog but regardless, their sidequests always showed how important parties and friendships were in khux and you never see anyone talking about them since it was side quests (this can also be said for the "friends ARENT my power" guy and his friend, who were also important NPCs) like you see people make cutscene compilations for khhx and they're just. Never there. Truly another part of the khux experience that's lost on most fans who never played
I mentioned this in on another post but Im gonna put it here too for everyone, a major impact on the khux experience was kh3 trailers since kh3 released in the middle of union cross and I'll go thru it for those that didn't play, SPECIFICALLY on Lauriam and Strelitzia-- marluxia and larxene were shown in a trailer after they were introduced but BEFORE the sibling reveal. For many people this was proof that Lauriam killed Strelitzia since they drew parallels between namine in castle oblivion and rapunzel in the tower and figured Strelitzia was in a similar situation. And THEN it was reveled Strelitzia was related to either Lauriam or Elrena BUT the Japanese was very vague and it wasn't specified and we had a length of time where we had no idea who she was even related to but with the appearance of Larxene in Frozen in a trailer, people thought her appearing in a movie about the bond between sisters was proof she was Strelitzia's sister. It really was a wild fucking time to be alive. You can tell real intense khux fans from casual fans when they tell you to play kh3 in the middle of union cross and then go back and finish khux,
Let's talk khux gameplay and plot,
imo I think part of khux's story telling and the impact of the story gets lost now that the game is defunct. I always thought people didn't appreciate how the gameplay and the mechanics actually had an impact on the story and while that impact become virtually nonexistent later on, I always thought it made the story far more engaging when the game was just chi/unchained chi and also the English translation didn't do it too well ngl
Anyway what I'm specifically talking about is the medal system. Also I feel like the whole bangle thing wasn't explained well in game but really it just comes down to leveling up medals specifically. If you never played khux, you equip medals to your keyblades and they doa specific attack and to level them up you combine multiple of the same medal and you could see how leveled up a medal is by the amount of yellow dots next to it and, in JP at least, this was called "guilt" and like wow that name fucking slaps. And when nightmare chirithy reveals the player has been collecting darkness this whole time thru the medal system, you have literal guilt on your conscious. You are guilty of collecting darkness and negative emotions like guilt to use for your own power. And in Back Cover when the foretellers are made aware of this, there's no stopping it and ofc the player can't stop either, they HAVE to get stronger, you literally have to keep playing the game,
Another part of the game that I appreciated is the way the name changes factored into the game; chi was the original "world line" that the dandelions existed in and at first unchained chi had come off as just a remake but really what we're playing is the continuation, where the player and the dandelions are now in this unchained state/new world line and they're reliving their time as wielders but now without the war/"dark" memories and finally when they relive everything and get back to the "present," they continue on after into "union cross" which I feel like. wasn't explained well in game that much tbh but if you didn't understand what that meant in game, it was just to say that unions didn't matter anymore and they were all dandelions so the unions. when the unions are crossed.
and tbh the experience of playing this game in real time also added to the experience a lot and the impact of the story especially with a player insert character. I think the most effective use of this game being played in real time was Strelitzia. Now in the english version, everything with Strelitzia was all one update and the english ver was behind so honestly they had to do catch up they couldn't really afford to lag behind. But in JP, which most khux fans kept up with using fan translations, Strelitzia's introduction and her death happened about a month apart so it gave the players time to actualyl grow attached to her and THEN we get crushed. You can easily pin point the exact time certain khux fan art was drawn bc in a group drawing of the dandelions Strelitzia is there instead of Lauriam since he was only introduced after her death
and another thing! It only became apparent by the end of the game but khux actually takes place over the course of about 4 years. which is fucking insane. because the dandelions were stuck in the data for 4 years and didn't know it until the glitches started. and the game ran for roughly the same amount of time and we weren't even aware of that either until the glitches! ("why 4 years" there are cutscenes that literally say "4 years ago" so yeah girl what the fuck haha)
Anyway yeah this was just me rambling I think about this so much all the time can you tell. I hope missing link does something like this too tbh it makes it more fun and makes it feel that your actions as the player actually have impact on the story
#this is a sewer squad appreciation zone#I LOVE them#in my heart I still love demyx is mog theories#anyway. sits. i have personal feelings about the lauriam kh3 murder situation which bled into my real life way too much it was actually bad#not the point#khux was a wild ride okay#khux#im rambling#khux essay

CW. LONG POST for the immortal!mc... I see lady yuu having a personality like toph from "Avatar the last Airbender". People are careful around her do to her status and doesn't know why she likes to hang around adeuce and grimm, but she likes how open they're around especially when grimm calls her "his henchmen".
Immortal!mc: *has been calling grimm for an hour* GRIMM!
Grimm: *ignores her*
Mc: *sigh* *dramatically* Oh the great and powerful grimm lord of flames
Grimm:*smugly* hmm~yes~
Sebek: *windows exp crashing noises*
Has a Harry Potter the Half Blood Prince moment in alchemy class.
Mc: *reading potion text book* *under her breath* cut up the moon bloom? You crush the moon bloom *notice a lot incorrect information in the text book* CREWEL!
Crewel: *walks over* yes mistress yuu?
Mc: You let these children brew these potions incorrectly? I hope they haven't been drinking them!
Crewel: with all due respect mistress yuu the information in the book is correct i can assu-
Mc: I know you're not telling ME of all people the steps in the potion book is correct?
Crewel: *gulps*
Mc: you crush not cut the moon blooms and you use the blue spider mushroom and not the yellow puff ball mushroom! And the final product should be yellow and not a lilac color!
I see her having a staff or something of the like and it has everyone confused because 'she doesn't have magic' yeah she doesn't have magic but she likes to uses it like a walking stick. She likes to watch the students with Ashton during P.E occasionally hit them with her staff.
Immortal!mc: *bonks student* No your form is all wrong! *shows them correct form* DO IT AGAIN!
Somedays when Trein wants to grade papers he'll have immortal!mc tell stories of her youth, she tells the a story of a flying ship with a captain with a hook for a hand, a medicine woman of a young emperor and her ditzy henchmen, a shady voodoo man she met at a tavern, and a woman just as old as her who kidnapped a princess to keep herself young.
During chapter 5 vil catches her in the mirror chamber one day and askes her about the mirror the beautiful queen.
Mc: *walks up to the mirror of darkness, touches the side resting her head on the frame of the mirror* It's been a long time my old friend
Mirror of darkness: *appears* I you my friend I you...
Everyone in the mirror chamber: 👀👀👀
Vil: *in shock and awe* ᵂʰᵃᵗ ᵗʰᵉ ᶠᵘᵘᶜᵏ..
During chapter 6 Vil comes to yuu during vdc training camp and askes her questions about her relationship with the mirror of darkness.
Vil: Miss yuu can I ask you about the mirror.. again?
Mc: *puts down her tea* oh yes! I never did answer your questions earlier
Mc: long ago I heard whipers in a village that a house deep in the forest lived a very handsome man who had magic... he had a daughter a real daddies girl.. I found her odd at first as she'd ask him everyday if she was beautiful and he'd reply 'the fairest in the land'
Rook: *knows where this is going*
Mc: but like most people around that time he became sick. One day me and the girl went around the forest collecting herbs for his medicine... when we came back he gone all that was left was a pile of his clothes and a mirror..
Kalim: *blinking back tears* then what happened 🥺
Mc: the poor thing was inconsolable.. she locked herself in her father's room and refused to comeout. Though I should have told her but I found a letter from him, detailing what he had done.
Deuce: *on the edge of his seat* them what
Mc: he used the rest of his magic to turn himself into a mirror for his daughter.. i'd seen that once before when I stayed the night at a beasts castle, but thats a story for another time.
Vil: was the girl you speak of the beautiful queen?
Mc: yes her name Grimhilde... in his letter he asked if I could look over his daughter make sure she lived a happy and long life... though I feel I failed him.
KINGDOM HEARTS HAPPENS AND YOU CANNOT WILL NOT CHANGE MY MIND!
When yuu has the prophetic dreams before overblot and she's mickey in the mirror
Mc: *notices a shadow in the mirror above the fireplace* that shape seems oddly familiar...
Mirror figure: Aha
Mc: *eyes widen* KING MICKEY
Mickey:*in shock aswell* YUU!
The first years remind her of Sora and Co. and catches herself reminiscening about them. They don't know what to do when they catch her crying.
Ace: M-Mc! Are you okay?
Sebek: WHO DARES MAKE LADY YUU CRY I'LL HAVE THEIR HEADS!
Grimm: *rubbing against yuu worried* henchmen?
Mc: No no.. I'm fine it's just you six remind me of some people I knew years ago.
During history trein asks mc about the great war and if she knew the inside scoop on why it started.
Mc: which one? there have been many
Trien: many..? I know only of one..
Mc: yes! There was the first keyblade war, the first human-fae war, Chernabog's war, the inter-species war, the second keyblade war and the second human-fea war.
Lila: *who came to drop off some papers* two human-fae wars..?
Mc: oh Lila! Yes the first one is when I crowned Maleficent as queen and the second one happend when a close friend of hers betrayed her...there was to be a third on but the human queen that started it was turned into a goat
Trein: keyblade war?
Mc: when magic was just becoming accepted..*clears her throat* it was revealed that there was a secret society of heros who wielded keyblades. It was believed there was a world where all magic come from.
Ace: are there still people who have keyblades?
Mc: no.. the hearts of people to day are to dark..
Deuce: to dark..?
Mc: back then people hearts where pure, why? The keyblade wielders protect people from the darkness. The people believed in a world where all from, only the Wilders could access the world.
Trein: *writing every thing down* what was this place called?
Mc: Kingdom Hearts... but as most stories go all of them wanted control over the world, but they needed the X-blade this caused a war of cataclysmic proportions. It pushed the world into darkness and killed many and shattered the x-blade and scattered across the world... kingdom hearts was to be forever lost.
Scarabia mob: you where alive during all that!?
Mc: no, but a close friend of mine was, but I was alive during the second
Sorry for my rambling and if i broke any of the rules during this feel free to delete of so.. but This is where I'm gonna stop as I've been typing this up for the past hour or so.. 🙇🏽♀️🙇🏽♀️
No rules have been broken (I didnt have very much anyway lol)
I really like this whole post lol though unfortunately I have not seen kingdom hearts so idk a lot of references here
Also Yuu does carry a staff in formal occasions. Lilia made joke on her saying she looked like an old woman with that but was promptly shut up when Yuu recalled a story of Lilia when he was younger

Kip!! I just thought of something and I needed to share it. So Ventus had Missing Ache back in Daybreak Town but in the future when he first summons his keyblade in BBS it’s Wayward Wind… so like does that mean that in Daybreak the keyblades like Starlight and Missing Ache are given to the kids and they aren’t manifesting their own keyblades??? Like is summoning your own personal keyblade a sign of being chosen rather than being bequeathed? Because technically by that logic Roxas and Xion were “bequeathed” their keyblades by Sora and only Roxas was chosen since he summoned his own keyblades, being Oathkeeper and Oblivion?? Can we apply this logic to Riku and Kairi since they were bequeathed themselves?? My mind is zooming!!! What does it mean?? Is it just an inconsistency? Knowing Nomura there has to be a reason keyblade wielders from Daybreak all have the same keyblades but the keyblade wielders we see all world unique keyblades?
ANON YOU AND ME SHAKING HANDS WONDERING WHAT IS UP WITH KEYBLADES
I DONT KNOW DOG I’m trying to see this from both a more metaphorical lens and a literal lorebuilding lens simultaneously because that’s what kh is right. So, metaphorically and literally, keyblades are manifestations of you and the light or darkness in your heart, and it’s possible that bequeathing someone a keyblade could expedite this process rather than simply being a substitute for self-actualization and summoning a keyblade from their heart, and it’ll take a while for them to summon their own IE Riku. Braveheart seems to be fully, 100% his car key, while soul eater (which was apparently not a keyblade tf), kingdom key, and way to dawn were a little conflicted, like he was. But, by this logic, we kind of run into logistical problems with the kingdom key… not being Sora’s. BUT THATS OK THATS INTERESTING IF, if riku, if riku was gifted one and it chose Sora what. I don’t. The other side of that argument is what you’re asking which is if you’re bequeathed a keyblade and then that keyblade is taken from you, was it yours and can you summon it back. Were you not chosen by the keyblade if you’ve been bequeathed one, rather than summoning one from the natural light in your heart slash the keyblade chooses the… warrior of light whatever idk. If the same keyblade was mass produced for the residents of daybreak town which is really messed up to think about by the way, thanks, were ANY of them actually chosen or was it, random. are they semi-sentient like the kingdom key? Does “chosen” even mean anything? Who’s choosing? I DON’T KNOW!!! WE DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT KEYBLADES. MUST THEY BE FORGED! HOW DO THEY WORK! anon come help me prop this ladder up to squenix hq’s window we’ll figure this out together
#ask#anon#KH#ANON WE ARE BRAIN ZOOMING TOGETHER#is this why Marly and Larxene can’t summon theirs? Is the reason ven and ephemera can still summon theirs because the environment is#conducive to it? Does skuld remember?#the keyblade glitches in days a lot. What’s up with that#HEY

Hello Mininjen :) Now that we know from Dark Road that Xehanort had a lot of friends when he was still a young keyblade wielder, what would you say about bringing those friends ghosts to torment Xehanort and tell him how much he sucks and how they're dissapointed and horrified about what he became ? Unless Keys Xehanort has always secretly been such a despicable human being that Eraqus could have been his only friend in Keys lore ?
I mean thats a bit basic but I could see his friends from Dark Road at the very least being mentioned. I will certainly say elements from Dark Road will be used in Keys, especially anything having to do with player/the robed figure because well its very interesting to me ok

Omori KH AU! CONTINUED
So uh it has been... a while, but I have more thoughts in relation to Sunny getting his Keyblade and how he met the rest of the group so heres a bit of a prequel bit!
In Faraway town, kids are given a test on their 12th birthday, to see if the Keyblade has chosen them.
(remember, this is prior to the events of BBS in KH Canon so there are potential keyblade wielders in each world but the number is falling because of growing darkness in hearts)
This has gotten long.. .so under the cut it goes!
MASTERPOST
The nature of the test is secretive, most people unaware of the keyblade existence, kept secret to prevent it from causing more people to fall to darkness.
The test is one where you're supposed to face your darkest fears, if you call upon the keyblade to fight it, you pass, if you cannot, you, fail.
Sunny faces the test on his 12th bday, its a room with a singular mirror. All he was told is he has to defend himself. There is no weapons or tools in this room he could use...he knows *some* magic, noticing a pool of water surrounding the mirror and hoping thats enough for him to call upon blizzard or water magic strong enough to fight.
He faces the mirror, and sees Omori facing back, but he doesn't recognize it as Omori at the time, just himself. He steps out the mirror, Darkness enveloping him, forming into a spider like monster.
Sunny is... terrified.
His vision starts to darken, he steps back. Spidersomething steps forward, Sunny steps back again, swaying, sweating, unable to scream. He starts tearing up.
Spidersomething strikes. Sunny brings his arms up, a glow of light enveloping him for a second before he blacks out, falling into the water.
He could have sworn he heard a familiar voice yelling his name as he hits the water.
Mari was one of the people watching the test. She had permission to, already entrusted with the Keyblade and thus allowed to be present as her baby brother tested for his. That is to say, Sunny had no clue Mari was watching.
When she saw Sunny summon the keyblade to defend himself before falling into the water, she didnt hesitate to jump from her spot looking down on to the room to save him.
Sunny awoke to yelling. He recognized the voice, it was...Mari. She seemed to be outside the room he was asleep in...wait.. asleep? He was in a bed, it wasnt his...he didnt recognize the place. But Mari is here... so its okay, right?
But she was upset, yelling, Sunny has never heard her raise her voice like that.
"You said he was going to be safe!"
"And he was! We weren't going to let him get hurt"
"But he almost drowNED!"
"I can assure you someone would've saved him if you hadn't gotten there first!"
There's a scuffle and a yelp... it sounded like the person Mari was upset at.
"Please Mari, I'm sure your brother will wake up soon!"
"Its been 2 day! If he's not injured then why isn't he waking up???!"
"I- I'm not sure but it has to be because of the shock of the situation!"
"You better be right."
There is another sound, a thump. The other guy must have fallen.
The door to the room opened and Sunny saw Mari's face go from anger, to shock, to tears as she rushed to him, hugging him.
Sunny...started crying too. He recalled the test, how he cowardly passed out... he failed Mari... and now he made her worry.
He mumbled apologies into her shoulder, and Mari pulled back, asking why.
He mentions he failed her, the test too and now he won't go to the same school as Mari.
Mari made a "O" at that, before breaking into a smile, her thumb wiping Sunny's tears.
"Silly Sunshine, you passed the test."
Sunny...passed? Was she just saying it? But Mari didn't give him room to say that, moving to the side of the bed.
"Hold out your hand Sunny" She instructed.
And so he did. What he didn't expect was... a beam of light, a key, appearing in his hand.
She explained to him the true purpose of the test, how the Keyblade chose to protect him.
Soon, Sunny would be going to the same school as Mari. It's what he's always dreamed of.
He starts school the next day, and is introduced to a handful of new people, or rather, Mari is the one to introduce him to them.
"This is Henry, but we call him Hero! He's my age so we're training together!"
"Nice to finally meet the Sunny, Mari kept talking about!"
Hero, to Sunny, was kind, his voice gentle like Mari's. Not loud at all. He didn't like it when Hero ruffled his hair though.
Next up was Kel.
Mari didn't get to finish introducing him before Kel butted in, excited and eager.
"I'm 12 too! But older than you, obviously! Can I see your keyblade?"
Sunny was a little overwhelmed but he summoned his keyblade for Kel.
"Oh its so small! Just like you! Look at mine!"
Kel Summons his keyblade. "Heh, its the best one!"
"No its not!" A third voice intrudes. "Don't listen to him, he's just like that all the time! I'm Aubrey! I'm also 12!" The girl introduces herself.
"What do you mean its not the best, it clearly is!"
"Nuh uh, thats mine! See its PINK!" She summons hers. It was indeed, pink.
"Pink is gross!" Kel made a face at Aubrey.
"He-hey thats enough both of you! We don't want Sunny to get a bad impression of either of you, do we now!" Mari breaks them up.
"Sorry Mari, but Kel started it!"
"No I didn-"
Hero thankfully comes by to separate Kel from the group before he and Aubrey start fighting. Mari explains that Hero is Kel's older brother.
Sunny goes to Hero, looking at him expectantly. Hero looks confused for a moment before holding out his hand and summoning his Keyblade. It was...pretty cool. Wow...
Sunny thinks this is all of them but then he spots a person in the distance, watching from afar. Mari follows his gaze and her eyes go wide.
"Oh Basil! Are you feeling better?" She rushes towards the person, Sunny following behind.
"A...little.." the boy gives Mari a small smile.
"Sunny this is Basil! He's been feeling ill for a bit but hes your age too! Basil, this is my little brother, Sunny." She introduces them.
"Hi Sunny!" Basil smiles, he looks pretty fragile, Sunny notes, and like he hasn't been sleeping well.
Sunny waves with his free hand, bringing attention to his keyblade in his other.
"Yours look a lot like Mari's!" Basil points out.
"It does, doesn't it?" She smiles holding out her hand so Sunny could see hers.
It really was similar...
Sunny looks at Basil expectantly but Basil only averts his eyes.
"Maybe...some other time, I think I should head back to bed."
Theres something curious about the way Basil was acting, but Sunny doesn't know him quite enough to be sure.
In any case, Sunny starts classes.
There are major introductory ones, where rules of keyblade are taught. About keeping the secrecy of it, how they aren't allowed to let anyone hold it or present it outside of the school unless of an emergency.
There are basic magic courses too, as well as training grounds for physical attacks.
The others are quite a bit ahead of sunny, with him being the last to join.
Mari and Hero are training for their eventual Mark of Mastery and... Basil still hasn't been coming to any of the classes.
Sunny almost forgot Basil was even a student until he found him sneaking off after training.
Sunny follows Basil into a part of the building he's never been to before. Basil doesn't notice Sunny until after he's stopped in front of a door, Sunny standing besides him.
"Ah! I wasn't DOING ANYTHING MA- wait... you're Mari's little brother, Sunny...right? Wa- wait what are you doing here?"
Sunny just looks at Basil.
"Oh- you followed me.. didnt you? You can head back, I was just...doing something."
"..." Sunny knows Basil is hiding something and doesn't quite budge.
"Ah... alright, I'll tell you... the truth is.. there was an accident during training a while back and now.. I can't summon my keyblade." He opens the door, "I found the mirror they use for the test and I thought.. if I could summon my keyblade like the first time, everything will be better."
Sunny nods and follows Basil inside. Basil doesn't expect Sunny to stick around, why would he? But he does, giving Basil two thumbs up as he returns it with a weak smile.
Basil faces the mirror, a shadow stranger looks back at him. Something envelopes the shadowed figured and escapes the mirror, tendrils coming out from all ends.
Basil is... terrified, holding his hand out waiting for the keyblade to appear. It doesn't and the creature attacks Basil. Sunny....rushes over, using the basic Blizzard spell at the creature to freeze it in place before pull Basil to the side.
"It ... was hopeless after all, huh Sunny?" Basil has tears in his eyes.
Sunny summons his Keyblade and holds it out to Basil. "Sunny?" Sunny nudges it towards him, hand out towards Basil.
"You want me to take this? But the rules-"
Sunny simply points to the shadow demon. "Not strong enough..."
"Oh right, I guess you...don't know how to fight..,alright, I'll fend him off, get somewhere safe"
Sunny's keyblade in hand, Basil fights black smoke and tentacles coming from the shadow figure.
Basil's fighting is sloppy... compared to how he's seen Hero and Mari fight, but he's still weakening the beast, the shadow backing into the mirror with each attack. A sudden attack knocks the keyblade from Basil's hand, it hitting the ground and vanishing. Basil is knocked back, huffing in pain as he watches the tentacles lash out towards Sunny further back.
"Sunny!" Without thinking Basil rushes over towards Sunny, leaping into the air and slashing down with a glow of light. In his hand, a keyblade, glowing gold and green. The creatures hisses, completely vanishing into the mirror. Basil stares at the rematerialized keyblade, his keyblade in awe, before realizing the situation and turning to seal the mirror.
He's smiling as he faces Sunny, happy tears in his eyes.
"All I could think of was protecting you... and my keyblade came to help...T-Thank you Sunny, I couldn't have done this without you. You wanted to see my keyblade right? See! This is it!"
He holds it out proudly, basically glowing. Sunny couldn't help but smile at him back, "Pretty."
Its after this day that Basil rejoins classes, and becomes closer to Sunny, his best friend from those in his class ^^!
And this is! it! A lot longer than expected with more dialogue than anticipated but! here it be!
If you've read this far, thank you! Please lemme know your thoughts!

My tablet is dead so Im gonna write some headcannons about Luxu.
Luxu wasnt was born completly alone, picked up by MoM as a baby that was abandoned and left to die off in dark forest somewhere. MoM knew exactly who he was and how to use him immediatly.
What MoM did to Luxu and ultimatly to the other foretellers was Grooming. Clear, blatant, cultish Grooming. From infancy to now MoM would teach Luxu the ins and outs of well, everything. Darkness, light, grass, sky, sea, everything. And as Luxu grew and grew MoM also saw Isolation as a way to prepare Luxu for what was to come. Completly isolating him from the others and keeping Luxu cooped up in the clock tower...dispite all this Luxu did have *something* of a relationship to the foretellers.
For Ira, Invi, Aced, and Gula Luxu was the baby of the family, the youngest foreteller and the quiet sibling who was always hiding behind MoM seemingly because he was shy. But to Luxu, they all where a fascination and a scource of frustration. He would never activly speak to them on purpose because of MoMs orders but he would often watch them from a distance, often wondering whT things would have been like where he allowed to physically be with them. Hug them, hold their hands, spar with them...
Then theres Ava. Luxu deeply hates Ava. She was as young as he was when she joined and Luxu ended up projecting alot of his own frustrations onto her, knowing that like him, her role was to preserve the Keyblade wielders and take them to a new age without unions ans competition...their own lil piece of heaven, where she's allowed to have all the friends and connections she wants. And like a greedy fox she wants to hoard everyones love, sacrifice herself for the surviving weilders sake, causing them more pain in the end. To Luxu, Ava is selfish, greedy, and is willing to do anything for the sake of the master, just like him. And he hates her very existance for that.
Luxus gone through hundreds of semblances over the years, at one point, he even had a few relationships. He played the pawn, the poet, the king and the beggar, he's been a father, a mother, an uncle, and a great great grandfather a hundred times over. But all of that just means he's suffered loss, over and over and over again. He's faught lived and died for hundreds of lifetimes all for the Masters Mission.
Luxu doesnt view himself as a person. He's a tool born for The Masters use, and every loss he experiences only hammers this belief further and further into his heart untill all thats left of his heart station is a cracked image showing the Master towering over Luxu, thatd been completely corrupted and rusted over in darkness. He means nothing, he is nothing, all he makes and spawns into the world are seconeds in a vast eternity of an unfeeling cosmos. He is the Masters, and no one elses.
Ghost braig territory:
Luxu and Braig are in the same boat. Both are chained to Xigbar and both have their heartstations right accross from eachother with Xigs station right in the middle. Both are being contained in Xigbar, him being an empty puppet makes him perfect as a vessal but Luxu and Braig can influence him in small ways. Braig doesnt like doing it, it feels just wrong and any attempts to fully take over Xigs body end with him being shoved inside Xigbar and his heart station getting cracked from the pressure, while Luxu can fully puppeteer Xig and even force him to break his own bones if it means getting a job done.
Luxu has trust issues. Its obvious that Luxu isnt really one to trust others, especially not Braig any members of the organization, because of this, he often has Xigbar remain aloof and secretive with others, even to those who can be deemed "close" to the sharp shooter, not too dissimilar to the Masters own Isolation of him.
Luxu doesnt like a n y o n e. Nope, not one person, Xemnas "stay away from Xigbar you beefy creep" Xaldin? "If he looks at you one more time we're blinding him and taking his teeth." Literally anyone who so much as looks in his direction? "Your all going to die in agony and I'll be right here watching with popcorn." The guys full on not okay with anyone looking at Xigbar in anyway that isnt professional, so you can imagine how he feels about Demyx...
He's a sadistic lil fucker too. The years of loss and isolation more or less turned him into a monster with zero empathy for those around him. His teasing and bullying of Braig being a clear show of this.
Luxu hates Sora. Sora is selfish, he's selfish and is constantly on about how devoted he is to the light, and how his friends are his power. He hates looking at him and seeing all that hope and womder in his eyes, and how bright his smile is, he hates how friendly he is to everyone and how even people who hurt Sora in the past get free passes just because sora 'decided' to forgive. He hates how bright he is. He hates him...
Luxu is Jelous of Sora.
Luxu was Jelous of Ava.
He hates the nickname Braig gave him, "baby goat"
He hates that Xigbar is willing to do everything for him even if it might hurt him.
He hates that no matter how cruel he is to braig braig never fights back or tries to devour Luxu's heart.
Braig and Xigbar dream of Luxu's memories and can see the eons that Luxu whent through and both are aware of MoM
Luxu wants to dissapear.
Luxu hates MoM
Luxu wishes he had friends.
Luxu hates to be alone.
Luxu is touch starved and craves attention and affection but wont get it because he's constantly pushing others away.
Luxu is complicated.

About the new Dark Road characters
Before we get into each individual character, here is some random thoughts
Disappointed that Yen Sid didn’t make it, but part of me admits that that had a low chance of happening due to him being a Disney character and all.
Part of me is also sad that they added more characters into the mix, because we lose the whole Eraqus and Xehanort growing as the only apprentices (with maybe Yen Sid added in) dynamic. At the same time, the idea that these two spent so much time with each other that no one wanted to be in their general vicinity while they were in a chess match and generally only cared about each other to the point that Xehanort only talks about Eraqus in his reports, is a hilarious idea that really adds fuel to the shipping fire for fans. Fun.
There is six apprentices in total, just like in UX (Unions plus Luxu). If we add whatever master they have in, its seven. Just like the guardians. Since Eraqus (And maybe the new characters) are part of the “blueblood” line of Keyblade Wielders, this makes a lot of sense, since Keyblade Wielders are defenders of the light and all.
This also adds credibility of why Xehanort was allowed to go on a world tour but Eraqus wasn’t- It’s hard to keep track of so many children, plus while Eraqus wasn’t allowed to go at the moment, their master could simply tell Eraqus to go with someone else in a later date
I swear, if MoM is their master (extremely doubtful, please don’t do this)
Or maybe even Luxu, since we saw No Name hanging in the wall in kh3
I severely expect everyone to give up their keyblade and go into hiding or die.
If everyone else minus Xehanort is part of a Keyblade lineage minus him, it would add a lot of depth to how he acted the way he did. Just like I brought up in some previous posts, it makes sense that an outsider would break so many rules or use questionable methods/use said methods to try to stand out. If he is the only one out, this makes it worse than if it was just Eraqus, Yen Sid and him.
To add to my previous bullet point, he is standing on a throne, just like Sora in promotional material. He is the only one sitting and the center of the shot. Just like Sora, Xehanort obtained his Keyblade (If my memory is correct, its been a year since I touched kh after all) due to outside influence, just like Sora did. This would be an excellent time for Sora parallels, Nomura
Ok, now I’ll get to the actual new characters
My first reaction (Posted in my discord) was “Urd reminds me of Aqua. Please do not make her a love interest”
She looks like she is making an OwO face
She does remind of Aqua, but a little bit more mischievous.
I’ve seen people say Bragi could be Luxu but honestly I also have suspicions Urd is up to something. Merely because she has silver hair and yellow eyes.
I always think silver haired people are more important that they turn out to be due to Riku having silver hair. We also don’t know Riku’s parents, unlike Sora and Kairi. We know Sora has a mom and a dad with a boat, and we know who adopted Kairi. But Riku? nothing. I’m curious exactly who introduced the silver hair gene in destiny islands. Is it a common trait? Xehanort has it. Riku has it. I need to see the family trees, please Nomura. How tf do they get their hair color im dying please-
She stands between Eraqus and Xehanort but behind them. Im sure this will be important later on. Until then though, i cannot say much.
She does have the Recusant’s sigil though, which once again reminds me of the fact that Keyblade Wielders have inbuilt trackers in their clothes. Im sure thats very useful for when they get lost in a random world.
My first reaction to Vor: She looks innocent but she would totally stab me in the back in an alleyway if given the opportunity.
Look at her. She looks like a tiny evil gremlin.
As a short people I can attest that short people will not hesitate to set your house on fire in Minecraft if given the chance. The world is too tall for us so we shall burn it until it is at eye level
Look im approximately 5ft tall, im short
I like her color scheme, very eye pleasing
People have pointed out her name is one letter away from Vore. Thanks guys, I so did not need that
People theorize this is Kairi’s grandma. I can see why, but I shall remain neutral on the subject
Probably the youngest
kinda reminds me of Ava
She is in the front, along with our main duo, maybe this will mean something
Will probably be a mix between Aqua and Ventus in term of gameplay. Speedy or magic main.
My first reaction to Bragi was: he looks so smug. He gives me a bastard vibe but that has to be seen. Or he is a troll.
People theorize he is Luxu because his name can be rearranged to Braig. Considering Nomura’s love for anagrams, it makes sense.
I wanna punch him in the face, he looks like he knows more than me
Reminds me of Axel. Hahahaha the idea of Axel and him having a connexion of some kind would be. Hilarious. Honestly the idea of anyone in this group having a relation to anyone in the present era would be hilarious because Xehanort grew up with these people so it would be like “Oh shit my coworkers had kids?!?!”
Could they be old enough to have kids? I mean, bbs Xehanort was like, 80 years old so it could be a possibility.
Fire user. I take no criticism.
Or he is a status user. He would spam like, 50 status spells and just kick your ass without having to move. Look, someone in these series has to see the potential of status spells, I can’t be the only one
Imagine that instead of him being luxu, its the master. I would laugh so much at y’all’s reactions.
My first reaction to Hermod: he looks like the oldest and older brother vibes but that might be because he’s tall.
He gives me vibes of trying to be responsible like Aqua but rolls his eyes fondly at everyone else’s shenanigans.
Has a sense of humor
In terms of placement, he stands more or less on the center, which might reflect on his personality. Peacekeeper? Probably tries to be neutral.
Tries to keep Bragi in line.
Tries not to pick favorites.
The idea of him trying to talk to Vor is hilarious. What is he gonna do, stand in his knees? He is just too tall.
Maybe Xehanort is taller than him, and thats the only thing I shall accept
Senior apprentice
In terms of gameplay, he might be like Terra, a heavy hitter.
Gives good hugs
TLDR; at some point I went from analysis to simply listing off random thought, just as all my posts turn out at some point. We do not know enough about them. The fact that the last kh themed new character we had was Strelizia is insane. New blood! I’m excited for yet another mobile game I can lord over my siblings because I know the timeline and they don’t. Posible candidate for the Disney Plus series? doubtful but still a strong possibility. It is 9:08 PM and I have not beta read this.

[#axels a very interesting character #hes incredibly brutal and effective #hes the organizations assassin #(or at least one of them. marluxia might also be bc that’s his title and we don’t see him actually doing his job much) #but you see him when hes not working and hes downright gentle #hes almost a different person on the job and i think thats intentional #he disassociates himself from the horrible things he has to do to survive in the organization #and then hes put in charge of two children #(two dangerous children. two children who might rebel and who he might have to kill) #and he can be soft with them #soft like he is more naturally #softer even than he can be with his best friend #and maybe it makes the moments he cant be soft a little more bearable #maybe things are a little bit better]
Ok I want to make these tags into their own post because I am vibing about this and I want to expand on it a little more.
Axel’s job in the Organization is to deal with traitors. Our introduction to him is in Chain of Memories, where he does so ruthlessly. He harshly eliminates Vexen to maintain his cover and get an in to confirm Marluxia and Larxene’s plan. He attempts to kill Marluxia and doesn’t care that Marluxia is using Namine as a meat shield. He kills Zexion for.... reasons? It’s been a while since I watched that gameplay and I’m currently stuck on the first Repliku fight. For all appearances, Axel Does Not Give A Single Shit, which is in line with the Nobodies as they’re characterized in CoM and for most like half of KH2. He has a job to do and he does it.
Then Days rolls around, and we see what else Axel has been up to: child rearing. In KH2, he obviously cares about Roxas, but in Days we see that he’s basically responsible for raising the kids. There’s this subtext there, that it’s his job because keyblade wielders are willful and emotional and unpredictable and he’s the assassin who has to be in a position to catch that and possibly terminate them if they decide to turn on the Organization. And at the beginning (and the end) of the game, he’s very acutely aware of that. He holds himself apart, and puts up an emotional barrier so he can be ready to do that part of his job. But for most of the game he lets himself forget it.
Axel’s been in a rough position for probably about a decade. He and his best friend can’t be too close anymore, on account of their plans to use an emo cult gang that’s convinced them they can’t feel to their own advantage. He hasn’t been able to be himself (whoever that is, whether you want to say that person is Lea or that the Nobodies are different from their Somebodies) for that whole time (which again, depending on your interpretation, could be his entire life) and that sort of thing fucks you up. But suddenly he’s responsible for two willful, emotional, unpredictable, honest children, and for lack of anyone else they latch onto and love him and each other because they have no one else to love and Axel suddenly finds himself in a position where he can be soft.
At his core, Axel is almost certainly soft. He doesn’t get to be, so much of the time, because there isn’t a place for softness in the Castle That Never Was. There isn’t a place for softness in Castle Oblivion. But there is a place for softness at the top of a clocktower, looking out over a town, eating ice cream with his kids.
Axel’s personality runs hard code shifts. With his kids, he’s gentle. He’s careful, and he cares. He keeps secrets for them, covers for them when they make mistakes or get into rough spots. When he works, he’s stiff. Efficient. Possibly even more so than he was before. He falls into this rhythm, and what he has to live for (a failing friendship with someone who might not want him or only see him as a tool anymore and a search for someone who might be dead, if he thinks about her too hard) shifts to something a little more tangible.
Then Xion runs, and dies, and is forgotten, and Roxas runs, and gets caught by other people with other plans, and sacrifices himself, and Axel is alone and angry again even if he doesn’t understand why. And Sora is there but Roxas isn’t and Xion isn’t and it’s not fair and he doesn’t understand, because how could he understand the feelings he won’t even admit he has? And all those pent up and confusing emotions culminate in him sacrificing himself, too, because even if he can’t see much of his kid in Sora he knows he’s still there, and some things are still the same.
I just think he’s a really tragic character o(TヘTo)

Rage Awakened (3)
@chachacharlieco @violetstar-writes (If anyone else wants to be tagged in updates, please let me know!)
Ten years ago, Terra, Aqua, and Ventus lost their fellow apprentice, Sora, in Deep Jungle. Now, they are to return with two new students, Riku and Kairi, to lock the heart of the world. All the while, something watches from the trees. Feral!Sora AU
Ao3 | FF.net
That night, Kairi laid awake, thinking. She couldn’t get the strange boy out of her head. If he really was Sora, what were they going to do? Take him back with them?
But ten years alone in the jungle would change a person. Did he even know how to speak? Could he still summon his keyblade?
Would they just have to leave him behind? That didn’t seem fair. Even if he wasn’t Sora, being all alone in the Jungle just didn’t seem right.
When he looked at her, his expression held a lot of emotion. Fear, curiosity, and lot of wonder. How frightening it must have been to see another creature like him, and yet so different.
From her sleeping bag, she looked over at her teammates. Everyone was asleep and all was calm. The fire was still going, though only bright enough to cast a soft light on the immediate area. Crickets and strange animals hooted outside the treehouse, where the moon shone blue light through the windows.
Kairi loved nights like this. It was so different from her days in Radiant Garden, where even the nights had noise of the city, of clanking and whirling machines. In the Land of Departure, the nights were nearly silent from her window high in the castle. This though, this was just perfect. She had been to so many worlds in the last year, traveling with her teammates. Nights like these, where the darkness retreated at the light of the moon, and life persisted.
It was relaxing and comforting. Though the Jungle held many mysteries and dangers, this was a haven.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of feet hitting the floor, though very gently. She glanced to the other end of the treehouse and saw a silhouetted figure, crouched and crawling towards them.
Kairi didn’t move, though she prepared in case he meant harm. Eraqus once said she had a problem with naïveté, and that she often trusted people too quickly. Still, she felt like this stranger meant no harm, for if he was the same boy she had seen earlier, he easily could have left her to die out on the field.
The boy slowly tracked through their camp, his steps imperceivable over the sound of the crackling fire and Terra’s snores. He curiously dug into the first pack he found, which belonged to Ventus. He pulled out a shirt, feeling the fabric and turning it over to examine it. When it failed to interest him, he shoved it back into the bag.
Then he slowly and hesitantly leaned over Ventus himself, studying his face. Then he moved onto the next person.
He peaked in everyone’s luggage, pulling out interesting items to sniff or taste. Though he didn’t actually take anything. Then he sniffed each of her teammates, touching their hair and any armor that was nearby.
It felt like she had been watching him for an hour before he finally made his way over to her. She closed her eyes, pretending to sleep.
She heard him shuffling through her clothes, then heard him sniffling near her ear. She stayed extremely still, keeping her breathing even, as his face drew closer to hers.
It seemed his evaluation of her would be different from the others, since she felt the softest skin against her lips.
Her eyes fluttered open in shock.
Those blue blue eyes stared right back at her, with all the wonder in the world.
She didn’t scream this time, just stared back at him.
Had he just...kissed her?
His eyes widened slightly as a smile took over his lips. He seemed thrilled that he had awakened her.
Carefully, since he was only inches away from her face, Kairi sat up. He remained close, but followed her movements.
He flicked his eyes over her body briefly, now that she was in pajamas, but continually met her eyes. Likewise, Kairi looked over him, now that he was close and not about to leave.
He had a large leaf on his arm, held in place by mud. It looked like a primitive bandaid. She frowned, and threw off her blankets.
The boy didn’t like the action, and whimpered, thinking she was leaving.
Instead she stood and quietly walked over to their first aid kit. She opted for a potion, so as not to startle him by summoning her keyblade. Then she took her canteen and a rag.
All the while, he watched, curious as to what she could be doing.
Finally, she smiled at him and beckoned him to follow her outside.
He did so eagerly, ever interested in her world.
Outside the treehouse, on the balcony, Kairi knelt and wetted the rag with the canteen.
The stranger was quick to crouch in front of her, immediately in her personal space.
She reached out, her hand hovering over his arm.
He tilted his head, looking at her expression, and then where her hand was. Then he leaned that arm towards her.
Carefully, Kairi peeled off the leaf and began to wipe off the mud. A potion would heal up the wound just fine, but it would have to be clean first.
The boy hissed suddenly and ripped his arm away.
She dropped the rag and held out her hands in a calming way.
Seeing she meant no harm, he slowly reached his arm back out, letting her finish.
Once clean, she offered him the potion.
Instead of taking it, however, he reached his hand out and touched her face ever so gently, then leaned in, unaware of how uncomfortable he was making her.
She couldn’t help but laugh a little, mostly out of nervousness. “Haven’t you looked at me enough already?”
His eyes widened at the sound of her voice, and he gave a silent laugh, like a dog panting, and danced on his toes.
Again, she offered the potion.
He sniffed it, and then gave it a withering glance.
“You drink it,” She pantomimed drinking, and encouraged him to do the same.
So he did, but screwed his face up after at the bitter taste. But then he blinked, feeling the pain in his arm gone. Glancing down, his wound was completely healed, and there wasn’t even a scar. He did his little dance again.
“See? All better!”
He showed his appreciation by swooping in and nuzzling his nose with hers.
She crinkled up her face in response, not expecting the action.
Then he backed off a few inches, his eyes bright, and pleasant grunts coming from his throat.
“Uh, you’re welcome?” Kairi laughed.
He tilted his head to the side. “Wel...come?”
“You can speak!” She clapped her hands in joy.
He mimicked the action. “Speak!”
“Ah, but not very well, I guess.” Still, she touched her chest, right above her heart. “My name is Kairi.”
He glanced at her hand, then her face, and mimicked the action, hand on his chest “Kai...ri?”
“Close.” She took his hand and placed it on her chest, “Kairi.”
Realization hit him. “Kairi!” He patted her heart. “Kairi!”
“Good! Now...” she placed her hand on his chest, right over the ‘X’ scar. “What’s your name?”
He looked at her hand, frowned, and without another word, leapt over the railing and into the darkness of night.
Kairi was left alone, only able to wonder. She touched the tip of her nose, then her lips, and blushed.
—
The next morning, over breakfast, the group talked over their plan for the day. They decided they would split up again, same groups, and travel East and West this time.
Kairi was barely paying attention. After the boy left, she finally was able to fall asleep, even though he had only given her more questions than answers.
“Kai?” Riku asked, noticing how quiet she had been.
“What world’s did Sora like?” She said suddenly.
Terra and Aqua stopped eating and pondered the question.
“Why do you ask?”
“I just...wondered. Maybe there’s a way to find out if it’s really him by bringing back some old memories.”
Aqua considered, “Gosh, I don’t know if there was a world he didn’t like! He was so friendly to everyone...almost to a fault.”
“You know the most important rule of keyblade wielders?” Terra asked.
“We mustn’t meddle in the affairs of other worlds.” Quoted Ventus, like a good noodle.
“Well, he loved to meddle. He always found a way to get in people’s business. Usually, we helped solve problems, but mostly Sora just stuck his nose where it didn’t belong.”
Aqua pondered, “But a favorite world, specifically? Well, he liked The Caribbean. He loved being a pirate and the big ships.”
“He also liked Neverland and flying.”
“And oh! He liked Halloweentown!”
“For Santa?” Asked Riku, like it was the obvious thing in the world.
“Of course for Santa.”
“Aqua, do you remember what world he talked about for weeks after we came back?”
“Um...gosh, we went to a lot of worlds back then. Which one ware you thinking of?”
“Enchanted Dominion.”
“Oh yeah!”
The other three just looked in question. “Where?”
Aqua sighed sadly. “It’s one of the early worlds that fell into darkness. Princess Aurora and Maleficent’s world.”
Riku groaned loudly.
“What’s crawled up your butt, Riku?” Asked Terra at the reaction.
“I hate that bitch so much.” He shook his head. “Sorry for the language but…she’s just the worst.”
“I thought Princess Aurora was nice.” Said Ventus, innocently. Since her world had fallen into the darkness, she had been living in Radiant Garden, along with two other Princesses, Snow White and Cinderella.
“Not Aurora! Maleficent! Geez…”
“She was the one who made you succumb to the darkness, isn’t she?” Kairi asked.
He rolled his eyes, “yeah. Anyways, that’s in the past now. What did you guys do in Enchanted Dominion?”
“You guys know about Aurora’s curse, right?”
“Let’s say I don’t…” Ventus cringed.
“When she was an infant, Maleficent cursed her to die at the age of sixteen, after she would prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. Only because of the good fairies did the curse change from death to sleep. And with true loves kiss, the spell would be broken.”
“Well, it must not have come true then, given we saw Aurora a few weeks ago.”
“Oh, it did come true. When we arrived in the world, the curse had already come to fruition. Aurora was asleep in the tallest tower, and the fairies had put the whole kingdom to sleep as well, so no one would worry.”
“That had to be weird to walk into,” Said Riku.
“Extremely.” Deadpanned Terra.
“We wandered around for awhile until we found the tower that Aurora was sleeping in...well, Sora found it. He tried waking her up by tapping her shoulder and going, ‘excuse me ma’am.’ Then the good fairies found us and explained the curse, and that Aurora’s true love, Prince Phillip, was being held prisoner in Maleficent’s Castle.”
Terra laughed, “when Fauna explained that Aurora needed a kiss to wake up, Sora said ‘well, I’ll kiss her!’ He just didn’t understand why it had to be this one guy specifically. It was hard to explain without using the analogy of a key to a lock…considering he’s been able to unlock any door he’s wanted with the same key his whole life.”
“So what did you do?”
“Well, the fairies asked us for our help, since they didn’t want to worry the kingdom, and they led us to the Forbidden Mountain. Sora at least stayed behind at the gate, but he insisted on being part of the adventure. So Terra and I snuck into the fortress and freed Prince Phillip, but we had to fight our way out. And just as we were about to reach King Stefan’s Castle, Maleficent appeared.”
“And she was pissed.”
“I know how that is...” Riku said under his breath.
“The fairies had given Phillip a sword and shield, so he wasn’t completely defenseless...but it wasn’t much help. She turned into this huge dragon!”
“Oh wow, she can do that?” Ventus asked, horrified.
“She’s a witch with the powers of darkness. There’s no telling what all she can do.”
“So you fought her as a dragon?”
“Yeah, and she put up one hell of a fight. And Sora fought valiantly, well, for a...I think he was five at the time?”
“You let him fight?!” Kairi shouted, aghast.
“We always did. How else was he supposed to learn?”
“I don’t know! Somehow less dangerously!?”
“So, what happened?” Asked Riku. “Maleficent is still prowling around, but Aurora is awake. Homeless, but awake.”
“Well, Phillip dealt the finishing blow.” Aqua said.
Terra quoted, “‘Sword of Truth, fly swift and sure. Let evil die, and good endure!’ At least that’s what the spell was supposed to do.”
“But we were all surprised to hear she was back. She’s like a weed that won’t stop growing. We led Phillip up the tower to Aurora, and he kissed her. She woke up, and so did the rest of the kingdom. And they all lived happily ever after…until the darkness came.”
Kairi hugged her legs to her chest, totally invested in the story of young Sora. “So, when you guys came back, he talked about it a lot?”
“Mostly the dragon,” Terra explained. “In our downtime, we would play this game…” He trailed off, and then sighed, remembering.
Aqua laughed. “Oh my god! I remember! We would play this game where…” she caught her breath, “where one of us was the ‘dragon’, one was the ‘Prince’ and then the other was the ‘Princess’. It was basically reenacting what had happened in Enchanted Dominion.”
“Honestly, I loved being the Princess,” Terra said, unabashed. “I actually just slept.”
“The catch was that the ‘Prince’ had to wake up the ‘Princess’ with a kiss. Usually on the cheek or forehead.”
Terra sighed, “yeah, but there was one time where Sora was the ‘Dragon’ and I was the ‘Prince’ and he insisted I kiss Aqua on the lips.”
“Did you?”
The treehouse was quiet as he said quietly. “…yeah.”
Riku and Ventus laughed loudly at his blushing face.
“I know it must hurt,” Kairi said, once things calmed down. “Talking about him again, but it’s really nice to hear about him.”
Aqua smiled, forlorn. “Yeah…full disclosure, if this wild stranger ends up being him, I am going to cry.”
“I had forgotten a lot of this until we started talking about it.” Terra admitted. “It was just…easier not to think about it. I still remember him declaring, quite proudly, that one day he was going to find a Princess like Aurora, one that would wake up with his kiss. I told him it was inappropriate to kiss girls while they were sleeping and he retorted,” he made his voice high pitched and whiny, “but all the other Princes are doing it!”
Something about that statement made Kairi’s heart ache.
“That was over ten years ago, but it doesn’t feel like it.” Aqua said, raising to her feet. “Well, we have a jungle to search, and two things to find now.”

My Rant Contains Extremely Small Spoilers for KH3. And a Tad Bit of Swearing.
I love every single KH character (except for Xehanort [he’s gone now, but look how he’s made these kids suffer] he can go jump in Kingdom Hearts for all I care), but I really want them to stop sacrificing themselves. Like, please, live for yourselves. Nothing is wrong with you are all beautiful loved creatures who suffered because of a theory. The main reason I was attracted to KH in the first place is ‘cause I saw Mickey beating up monsters with a giant key and I was like, “that’s bad@ss!” I thought you would visit Disney Worlds and help out along the story (KHUx you f*cking liar), instead, I grew too attached to characters and ended up destroying my heart.
Take Ventus, Terra, and Aqua for example (the Wayfinder Trio). They were happy carefree kids who were becoming Keyblade wielders, visiting worlds and improving their skills. I’d honestly say I’d rather have a game where they were all just goofing off in Toon Town than have them all suffer a horrible fate. Ventus? Hurt so badly in battle that his heart leaves his fucking body and takes refuge in someone he hasn’t entirely met. Terra? Possessed by darkness, tricked into killing his master/father figure and possessed by a power hungry, crazed, old man who wants to start a fucking war. Motherly Aqua? Fought so hard, lost everything, and then risked everything one last time and went to the Realm of Darkness for YEARS. “Surely they must have done something wrong,” you say, buT THEY DIDNT. THEY WERE GOOD BOYS AND GIRL WITH A BRIGHT FUTURE AHEAD IF THEM. THEY DIDNT DESERVE THE CRAP THEY GOT.
And if I start talking about the Seasalt Trio, I will go on a rant that will take hours to read. To sum it up, RoXAS AND XION AND LEA ARE THEIR OWN PEOPLE!!
LOOK HOW HAPPY AND EXCITED THERE ARE TO BE AROUND ONE ANOTHER!! YOU CANNOT TELL ME THEY DONT HAVE EMOTIONS!!
LOOK AT ROXAS’ SMILE!! THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE COPIED. THEIR LAUGHTER BRINGS ME SO MUCH JOY I LITERALLY CANNOT DESCRIBE IT HFSRHFSYHXFJ.
Then we have Sora, Kairi, and Riku. Kairi is a wonderful little angel. She’s a Princess of Light and a Keyblade Master. She’s so kind and forgiving. In KH3, in the Keyblade Graveyard, right before the horde is about screw up everything, Kairi jumps on Axel to save him.
She’s saving a man who kidnapped her and could’ve led to the death of her own friends. I mean, yeah, they trained and grew on each other, but I’m one salty mf (yes, saltier than sea salt ice cream) and I wouldn’t be ready to forgive for something like that. Kairi also has like this super mysterious past, and somehow her grandmother knew about the Keyblade War, and made it a huge point in KHUx to open the game with Kairi’s grandmother telling her about the Age of Fairytales from memory (is she Ava? Skuld? I guess we’ll never know). Kairi, I know I’ve said this crap before, has all these things pointing to her to get a game centered around her. Kairi had every right to venture out to the world with her friends.
JUST LOOK AT MY BOY. Y’know what he wanted to do with his life?!? Just us a raft and go explore the other islands with Kairi and Riku? Fate was like, “You wanna leave so badly? Then leave.” And then the entire island blew up! Then he had to go ACROSS THE UNIVERSE to find his friends, only to find out one was like a vegetable and the other has been consumed by darkness. BecaUSE THATS HOW F*CKED UP LIFE IS.
DO YOU SEE THAT ON RIKU’S FACE?! IT’S A F*CKING BLINDFOLD!! What was Riku doing blindfolded? Running around the universe, putting Ahis friends back together piece by piece (including almost killing Roxas, wiping the guys memory, then putting him in a simulator to get Sora’s memories back). He did all this because Riku fell to darkness. To make up for his wrongdoings, he controls his darkness and walks the path to dawn.
*sighs* he’s his own rant.
Then Nomura has the nerve to go like, “ooh, the fandom likes this character? Kill ‘em off.” Give them all these amazing powers in the game before, then BAM throw them to the sidelines or take away the power.
IF NOMURA DOES NOT START TAKING CARE OF HIS KIDS THE FANDOM WILL SOON RIOT. I only discussed the trios, not Organization XII, nor the Donals and Goofy. They are under appreciated as well.
Completely unrelated, (maybe I said this before) but I hope Sora uses a frying pan as a weapon. Just imagine him knocking out Xehanort out with that thing.

On the topic of those kh3 secret reports regarding KHUx
(khux talk, kh3 spoilers)
Subject X was likely to be Skuld. But Ava could be a possibility too. My thoughts:
Secret Report 1 is written by them but they cannot recall their name or anything else about themself. the clue is 4 friends and a key (including subject would make 5, aka the number of the union leaders) but still not enough evidence. she is caged in a cell.... aka is imprisoned there. They mention that one day a man came to break them out, and although they could not see in the dark they did see the man was wearing an eyepatch... They reveal that years have since passed from the day they were freed but they are still “no closer to understanding who or what I am. May your heart be your guiding key”
prior to this, we know of subject x from kh3 in bits but it’s confirmed she’s a girl. out of the new union leaders Skuld is the only girl. (If it’s not her, that would make it the Foretellers either Ava or Invi). we also learned prior to the reports that she was Ansem the Wise’s “guinea pig” and “lab rat”. which is horrifying.
in secret report 3 it’s written from terra-xehanort’s perspective as a young man apprentice to Ansem the wise. he tells us that subject x has amnesia and had departed her world with her companians but can’t remember their names. he says she’s like him when he arrived, “devoid of memories” and makes an argument as to why she;s perfect for the human experiments.
secret report 4 researcher xehanort hasn’t made much progress with the girl but has been able to deduce the minor tidbit convos “evoke a bygone world, like one out of fairy tales...” This is absolutely refering to khx/kux/daybreak town time period. And it IS in the past. he reveals the other human test subjects he’d been using all had a mental collapse with his experiments.... and when Ansem found out he ordered him to stop and then hid the girl. which goes back to Xemnas/Ansem part in kh3 in twilight town with Ansem the Wise and they are interrogating him about where he hid the girl. it ends with him saying he’ll just use himself for what he has planned...
secret report 5 Isa and Lea sneak into the castle to see the truth about the rumors of the castle. “By night, the muffled sounds of human wails emerged. There was talk of dangerous human experiments” LINES LIKE THIS AND ANSEM’S SOMBERNESS ABOUT HAVING TO ATONE THROUGHOUT KH2 AND KH3 ARE A LOT. About all the children he experimented on. what the fuck. but I digress. what’s important is that they ended up finding her caged up in a cell.
secret report 6 Isa and Lea continue to sneak into the castle just to meet the girl, “that was the only comfort two children like us could offer her.” jesus. they don’t know what she looks like because it’s so dark. one night they decide to act on Lea’s suggestion of breaking her from her prison but when they get there she is gone. they went back many times hoping to find her but to no avail. soon after Isa and Lea decide to become apprentices to Ansem the Wise BUT it’s to find out what happened to the girl. this connects to the way BBS left off with young Isa and Lea after Ven met them.
secret report 11 is clearly Luxu writing. he talks about how he suceeded in the first part of his mission, seeing the keyblade war unfold and is now ready for the next phase: choosing an apprentice from the new union leaders. however there is a problem, he notes that one of them is an imposter and not chosen originally. he describes the imposter as “a virus in the program [the master] so carefully wrote” He describes as the imposters plans already moving and the reckless plan to do ANOTHER transfer but that bc these new union leaders are kids, and no keyblade masters, and would not be able to pull this off “unless a lady of magic summoned here from the future knows more than I do”. Although the new union leader stuff was supposed to go by the book Luxu wonders if this was all planned by the Master anyway.
prior to this, here is where intimate knowledge of the khux basics becomes important and backcover too. What each foreteller role was, Luxu’s task and the box, etc. KHx and KHUX are not the same. In KHx the keyblade war occured and Master Ava set up the Dandelions. This group of keyblade weilders would TRANSFER OVER to a new world/timeline where the war did not happen. And thus, KHUX was born. However before the end, Foreteller Ava set out find 5 keyblade wielders that were written by the Master as becoming the new union leaders and to inherit their tombs. Their names: Ephamer, Skuld, Ventus, Brain, and Lauriam.... but there was a problem... on the eve of the war, one of the destined new leaders was murdered (her name was Strelizia, and she was Lauriam/Marluxia’s little sister) and thus the imposter took her place and her book.... Now in the timeline of our current game KHUX, “worldline” as Luxu dubs, there is a problem. New union leader Ephemer and Skuld noticed that there’s a new ominous darkness in this worldline we transfered too... So basically Luxu’s entry confirms Ephemer’s feeling by revealing that something BIG is about to happen in KHUX. but just as important, his phrase gave us the clue to figure out who the imposter in KHUX is because the khux jp story update gave us one of the new union leaders calling THEMSELF the virus.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyC3XXcDTS4
secret report 12 Luxu confirms there was a new darkness in the worldline, one that would lead to the demise of the peace we thought we had now in khux bc we avoided the war. He is writing this as whatever darkness is about to happen is taking over this world line, and says that “amid the chaos I bequaethed my keyblade [the No Name] to one of the Union Leaders like the Master instructed and watched as the Five were sent to another worldline--at no small cost--ensuing the line of Keyblade wielders will live on”. He then writes he too will depart soon and cast off his form into a new vessels throughout time in order to continue to watch over the successors of the No Name and wait for the one who will renact the keyblade war and when that happens he will take the stage once more and finish his task....
secret report 13 Luxu writing as Braig/Xigbar says this body and this name will be his last. he notes how successfully the No Name has been passed down and that at last a wielder devoted to darkness arose to take up the mantle. Now instead of passively watching, it’s his time to participate by passing off as an ally to the wielder and playing the part of a fool who just wants a keyblade (the No Name) of his own. He talks about how the Masters gazing eye has been peering into the future through the No Name and himself watching everything come to pass. Luxu says the length in time that has passed is too long for him to express and that all the lives he lived could fill up volumes. The keyblade war will start again and a new true Kingdom Hearts will open. He mentions that he will soon be reunited with his old companions (khx, khux: The Foretellers) and that “in the moment my long vigil ends. He will return”
prior to this, in the epilogue we see that Xigbar confirms himself to be Luxu. and SOMEHOW he was able to summon the foretellers into the future. in khux we assumed them to have perished in the war. however, only 4 Foretellers return. Ava is missing... but Luxu laughs and is not worried about her. It ends with him about to tell him the long story of how he got there and the box he was also tasked to guard is now unlocked....
--------
From this info im deducing it was Skuld because in Secret Report 11 Luxu said he saw the 5 of them off to the next worldline. At a high cost. And hear me out, what if the cost was their bonds, their memories, of their friends and most importantly they lost who they were (amnesia). Their next location could have also been random. Since Skuld is the only girl in the new Union leaders from the era of fairy tales, and test subject x is a girl thats speculated to come from a time already gone-the era of fairy tales-- I think she has a high probability of being Skuld. And of the price each leader had to pay was every thing they had, everything they were, in order to ensure the safety of the remaining keykids. I think that would explain the amnesia. AND I think this could explain how Laurium and Ventus also ended up in the future even though they are also from this era. This makes things kinda interesting on Ven’s side because he ended up unknowlingly being friends with someone who was the forebarer of No Name keyblade aka the keyblade Xehanort was destined to recieve and Ventus ended up being found & apprentieced by him. Only for old Xehanort to break him via heart experiments and split his light and dark sides.
Also it fucks me up that Skuld (or Ava) was being experimented on and imprisoned at Radiant Garden for weeks and disappeared/was hidden away just before Ventus was destined to arrive... and that she was the catalyst for Lea and Isa joining the apprentices.... just to figure out what happened to her only to lead up to their ill fated transformation into nobodies for about half of their lives.
But what of Laurium, Ephamer, and Brain? Which of them was the one Luxu gave No Name too? Did he give it to the imposter anyway? Or not?
However there is a chance that girl could be Ava. The line “May your heart be your guiding key” in the first secret report is a quote I think suits Ava more to hold onto than Skuld especially going of of KHUx backcover, aaaaat least where things are as of 2/2/2019 in the khux jp and worldwide story. Who knows if this will be a quote Skuld will learn from Ephemer and then keep as a motto later. There’s also the fact that it’s hinted that Braig/Xigbar/Luxu is the one that broke her out. Perhaps he did this bc he recognized Ava? But if this is the case, why does Xehanort think Ansem the Wise hid her? Does Ansem the Wise KNOW where she is now years later or not?
For now I like how this plays out if the subject was Skuld. There’s also another mysterious line Luxu talks about in secret report 11 is about a certain magical lady from the future helping out the Union Leaders do a worldline transfer. Who from the future is he talking about? Ava is certainly magical but she’s in the past and MIA currently. Perhaps it’s bc she helped them that she ended up paying whatever the price was as well and thats how she ended up as text subject x. Meanwhile, Aqua IS magical too but how would she know to travel to the past to help the Union Leaders?
The mysterious pile up for KHUx to answer right now. About Luxord, Demyx, why did Elrena/Larxene and Laurium/Marluxia become so callous? How did all these parties forget about their past life? How did Xehanort find them? We know why he picked them but the details are fuzzy. What happened to Strelitzia? Is she the mystery girl in The Final World? Or is it someone else from KHUx? Now that Lauriam is back, is he still going to be looking for his sister? Was that what he was doing the whole time prior to becoming a nobody? Was Brain really the murderer? Where did Luxu hide the box and why was he making Luxord and the others look for it if he knew where it was? What did malificent mean that the box didnt exist yet?
So many more questions, but one thing is clear: Something big is about to happen in KHUx.
And as for the future of kh, “He will return.”
miscellaneous:
secret report 2: Eraqus is a “blueblood” in the world of kh according to a young Xehanort. “descended from the very first masters in the age of fairytales [aka khx/khux]”. Eraqus can’t have been related to the foretellers then cuz they didnt have kids, they were kids themselves to young teens i think. Which leaves the new union leaders but... they went missing? at least Luxu doesnt seem to know where 4 of them went according to secret report 12. I say 4 bc he had to be watching the 5th person since they had the No Name keyblade and that was kinda his task for a long ass time right. So I think he just kept track of that Union Leader. I remember wondering if Eraqus was a direct descendent of a wielder that’s important to the khux story and I thought since Skuld has black hair Eraqus could be her descendent, maybe along with with Ephemer too. Brain has black hair too and his sprite looks kinda like Eraqus? maybe? Who the heck is Eraqus DIRECTLY descended from that was a first master in the age of fairy tale????

Ok, so the previous ask also mentioned the characters on the title screen. I hadnt paid much attention to them before, but you'd think the foretellers would be here right? But no. Instead we've got an assorted group of kids I mostly don't recognize, and would thus write off as representations of the players' keykids (as I've gathered the custom protagonists are called, which is great). Except that, whoops, that's clearly Ventus at the bottom there, especially given bits of kh3's ending credits.
So maybe these are all actual characters? Ive been told that union cross is both a remake and a continuation of the previous kh mobile game, which already covered up to the keyblade war, so if these are actual characters, then maybe they are, or are among, Fox's chosen survivors of the keyblade war?
And Ventus isn't the only familiar face. The top left guy is almost certainly a young marluxia, as there was some implication in kh3 that he had once been a keyblade wielder. Top right guy could honestly be almost anybody under the hood. Middle right character could almost be a young Eraquis? Which, I mean, probably/hopefully not, as that wouldn't make hardly any sense at all. The other two, I have no idea, so I figure they at least are actual new characters.
As for how Ven and Marluxia, at the very least, made it from the distant past to the modern day, well... as of DDD time travel is a thing, and as of KH3's ending you can apparently just summon people from the distant past to the modern day...
*IF* this game even is set in the distant past, which I'm less and less convinced it is. We have characters traveling to (versions of?) Modern day disney worlds, fighting emblem heartless that just straight up shouldn't exist any more than like 5 years before the first kh game, using portals to travel between worlds that shouldnt be portal-separated at this point, and you have the maybe-dream-eater chrithies walking around in the open, implying that all of this could be some digital or dream recreation of the events of the keyblade war, or maybe the kids who got caught up in or survived it were somehow pushed out of the normal timeline into one of kh's many liminal spaces - maybe we're in a dreaming world version of keykid town? - into which modern elements can fall or from which individual characters could be plucked.
I don't know, those are the best theories I've got at the moment. I'm not willing to accept "it's a mobile game and nothing matters or is canon" because thats not how kh has ever operated before, and because kh3 said all this junk is very much canon.
I am however willing to entertain the possibility of "there isn't an explanation that makes sense because the devs havent bothered to think of one yet, but don't worry, they'll pull some super convoluted and deeply unsatisfying retconsplanation out of their butts in some future game" because that very much is how kh operates as a series, and that's half of what I love about these games.

Top ten KH3 moments?
***SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! DON’T READ UNLESS YOU’VE EXPERIENCED THE WHOLE GAME OR YOU DON’T GIVE A DANG ABOUT SPOILERS!***
Confession: in trying to come up with my answer for this post, I came up with THIRTY. I’ll just put the ten here, but if anyone wants to ask about those other twenty, feel free :-D
10. The reveal of who Luxu really was the whole time. It tied together a lot of things that made sense and it set up EXACTLY THE CHARACTER IT NEEDED TO to take up the villain helm in place of Xehanort. I’m actually going to skirt saying this name, even though I warned for spoilers, because this reveal is just SO good. And a lot of the endgame made me feel sour and numb due to THE HORRIBLY TRAUMATIZING DEATH OF KAIRI, but this scene picked me almost all the way back up to normal again.
9. When Xemnas assembles Demyx, Larxene, Marluxia, and Luxord at the Keyblade Graveyard and it’s NONSTOP BANTER. Larxene firing off the most hilarious insults at Demyx (a CEREAL BOWL), Demyx openly admitting that he’s not imposing on purpose, Larxene trying to get Marluxia to start another coup, Luxord listening in the whole time and not letting on until his name is called, Luxord fiddling with the cards and making gambling metaphors, Demyx playing his sitar the whole time…and let us not forget the line that embodies a Big Mood: “Ugh. Xemnas.”
8. When Sora reunited with Hades. It was less “MY MORTAL NEMESIS WHO MUST BE STOPPED” and more “Oh, my weird friend of opposing morality who I don’t really like but have to say hi to.” Their reactions to each other were so hilariously casual. Then Hades introduced the Titans in the most EPIC way…only to realize he sent Sora EXACTLY WHERE HE SHOULDN’T GO and deciding this was fine. Also, bonus points for Sora later calling him “the H-ster.”
7. When the Demon Tornado (my personal name for the GIANT CYCLONE OF SHADOW HEARTLESS; canon will probably prove this wrong later) is about to wipe out everyone, but Ephemer helps Sora summon ALL THE KEYBLADES OF THE DEAD WIELDERS OF THE KEYBLADE WAR IN ORDER TO PULVERIZE IT. There’s so much going on there: the epicness of using a hundred Keyblades at once, the beautifully victorious arrangement of “Dearly Beloved,” the shout-outs to the player names in the commands, and, perhaps most of all, the realization after the fact that these blades were all of people who died killing each other for petty reasons…and after death, their spirits realized it was time to set aside their differences and focus on not letting Xehanort win.
6. Battling Davy Jones and the Kraken at the same time. The Kraken is one of the two Disney boss battle fights I have wanted for a DECADE (the other was Randall Boggs; you had your chance and you BLEW IT). I actually was half-disappointed with the naval battle portion because I had imagined it should be melee, but then Davy Jones turned out to be the first true Disney villain boss fight that wasn’t transformed into a Heartless or somesuch, and I’d been thirsty for content of him since arriving in that world. But then it turned out THE KRAKEN WAS WAITING IN THE WINGS TO ASSIST HIM and I actually DID get to fight it melee and it was just the PERFECT way to close out PotC’s role in KH.
5. Fighting Ansem, Seeker of Darkness; Xemnas; and Young Xehanort at the same time. First of all, BEST BOSS THEME IN THE ENTIRE GAME. It was the perfect culmination of putting all the Xehanort themes into one piece that flowed and made sense. Second, the sheer epicness of this CONCEPT. Third, the coordinated triple attack they make where Young Xehanort freezes Sora, Xemnas shoots him with the vines, and Ansem lets the lasers fly.
4. Even and Demyx’s one interaction. While I still don’t think Vexen/Even is hero material, the one thing that made that redemption worth it was this. Seeing these two diametrically opposing personalities, who you think would hate each other, play off each other perfectly. They’re just the right amount of annoyed with each other to be hilarious, and then there’s obviously some genuine respect passed between this odd couple. I will never be over how they have to shush each other in succession.
3. Ienzo’s intro to the plot, though this is kind of in two parts - I’m counting his initial reveal as Sora’s guide with his almost immediate return to help with tech stuff when Pence logs into the computer. Ienzo is just such a CINNAMON ROLL. He just wants friends now, he’s a total ambivert, he keeps slipping into jargon before realizing he’s the only one in the room who knows what he’s saying and reverting to layperson’s terms without being condescending, he flinches at sudden loud noises, he has a cute smile and a nervous laugh…oh. Oh, no. JCMorrigan has a crush.
2. When Vanitas is on the cusp of wrecking Sora on the Laughfloor…and Sulley intervenes by picking him up and YEETING HIM into a door. Oh, but not just that. Taking that door and THROWING IT INTO ANOTHER DOOR, THEN INTO ANOTHER DOOR, THEN INTO ANOTHER DOOR AND SHREDDING THAT ONE. I could NOT stop howling with laughter through this whole sequence. And about four hours later, it hit me that Vanitas could just Corridor out of wherever he got thrown, so Sulley basically did all that for nothing, AND NOW IT’S EVEN MORE HILARIOUS. BONUS POINTS STILL IF YOU THINK ABOUT THE KIDS’ ROOMS WHO EITHER HAD A DOOR FLUNG INTO THEM OR VANITAS HIMSELF. Also, can we appreciate how Sulley somehow knew after five minutes that Vanitas was THAT much worse than Randall that he’d need this treatment?
1. Randall Boggs hijacking the Monsters, Inc. factory. Randall is a legacy favorite villain of mine. He was a big part of my late childhood/young adolescence, and I was CRAZY over him. Over time, I’ve found he still holds up. I could gush about how KHIII’s additions to his entire characterization pretty much renewed my love for him afresh, but let’s focus on his finest hour. Normally, the designated villain of a KH world just peaces out and waits for you to find them at the boss location. Randall, instead, turns the entire factory into death traps and TAUNTS HIS QUARRY OVER THE PA SYSTEM GLADOS-STYLE. Not only that, but he makes TERRIBLE puns (”This one’s got some spark in him!” during the electric fence, “I’ve decided to ramp up the difficulty” as Sora climbs an upward-headed conveyor) and he easily slides from Large and in Charge (”Enjoy what’s left of your miserable little lives!”) to realizing he’s getting humiliated and trying to cover (”You get one freebie, but that’s it.”). KHIII did Randall so good I can’t even.

Who’s most likely on the chopping block SPOILERS AHEAD
Ok in the latest trailer we see literally everybody's getting bodied and it looks like pretty much everyone's gonna die or at least a majority of them will but realistically speaking I dont think KH3 is gonna be THAT dark
HOWEVER I do believe there will be SOME deaths as KH3 is supposed to be the darkest kh game I dont see Nomura letting this be a and they all lived happily ever after ending, but I believe its going to be a more bittersweet ending where the good side wins but at a great cost
So the next question is, whos actually gonna die? well I have some theories on whos the most likely to die and whos most likely gonna survive
For starters Mickey Donald and Goofy are pretty much set in stone they’ll be fine, its not TOTALLY impossible but I highly doubt Nomura or Disney would kill off those iconic characters so lets just mark them off right now to the SAFE list
Aqua, Terra, Ventus and Lea are more unknown, they could die or they could not but I’ll explain why its so up in the air
Aqua can and will be saved so it doesnt make much sense for her to die after we go through all this to save her, that being said she could die trying to protect everyone just like she did in the past but I still think to bring her back only to kill her off is highly unlikely so IMO Aqua is safe
Terra is a gamble, hes been on thin ice since BBS and I always assumed he would eventually die anyway I just didnt know when but I always figured he would eventually muster up the strength to free himself and die to protect his friends, I felt like Terra would possibly end himself to prevent Xehanort from using him to hurt any more people, in this case, I see Terra possibly doing that in this situation and I feel like Terra’s ‘death’ is long overdue since at least to me its been hinted thats where his arc was heading since the end of BBS, so IMO Terra is marked for death
Ventus is also a high possibility, if it wasnt Xehanort it was Vanitas trying to kill Ven although in Vanitas case his reasoning is alot more complicated but the fact remains they have both tried to ‘kill’ him in some way shape or form and have been searching for him for years and now that they’ve finally FOUND him the chances are pretty high that Ven is gonna die, he is in a VERY vulnerable position and unable to fight or defend himself and thanks to Aqua nobody knows where he is or how to save him so Ven is definitely in the danger zone and thats why IMO Ventus is hanging by a thread
Lea is a gamble too, he’s already ‘died’ once, became Axel, died again and became Lea again, to have him die a 3rd time seems excessive but it would be heart-wrenching if he is killed by one of his former friends Saix, Xion or Roxas which although having Lea die AGAIN as I said would be excessive this would DEFINITELY be a dark and tragic ending for Lea and the impact would be much bigger than it was the previous times and it’ll hold that much more weight to it seeing him suffer from the loss of Isa and then keep remembering Xion and Roxas as well only to have one of them be the one to take him down for good is just beyond sad, so even though it may be excessive the impact would be massive which is why IMO Lea is marked for death
Now to move on to the main two, Riku and Kairi
For starters even with my personal bias against Kairi Im not stupid enough to think shes gonna die infact I think its the opposite, Kairi is HIGHLY unlikely to die and here’s why
She’s part of the main trio that we’ve followed from the start, she’s Sora’s love interest, she’s technically the main female, she’s a princess of heart, she’s a keyblade wielder, in other words she’s too tightly woven into the story that for Nomura to take her out would not only be bold af but also extremely unexpected, its not often that you see a member of the main cast killed off but if they are its almost never the love interest which is why I believe Kairi is safe
Their also hyping up the romance way too much for them to just kill her off, unless this whole ‘oath’ and ‘dont think twice’ is just one big red herring and they pull a 180 not only would that be risky af but also pretty danm genius cuz nobody would see that coming but I will not be mad at it and infact would appreciate Nomura even more for takin such a huge risk that not many others would take, although I already know majority of the fandom wouldnt agree with me on that and I think Nomura is aware of the shitstorm he would get if he did that aswell so yea Kairi is definitely safe
Riku not so much, unlike Kairi, Riku is not a love interest or atleast not the one Nomura intended, true Riku is also a part of the main trio but the rival/best friend always has the higher chance of dying to protect the MC than the main female/love interest does
You also have to look at Riku’s character arc, his growth from giving into the darkness and doing horrible things to his journey of redemption, I believe his final atonement would be giving his life to protect Sora who in the past he had hurt so much, this and it leaves Sora still alive to save the world and defeat Xehanort since in the scene we see Sora doesnt have his keyblade and hes on his knees about to be attacked by a swarm of heartless and Riku being the last man standing protects him and if not for Riku, Sora would have died there, but Riku despite all odds against him, gives his all in protecting Sora
Someone made an interesting comparison of when Axel was fading away after ‘putting his whole being into an attack’ from the looks of the trailer Riku is DEFINITELY giving his all in this attack, Riku is ready and willing to die for Sora which is why Riku IMO is marked for death
But I also dont think Riku is gone for good, I think he might become a nobody and he IS the only one in the main trio who hasnt had a nobody, granted because he’s never been in a situation TO have one but now is the perfect time with the perfect setup for this to happen and come into play
How exactly this will play out in the future? I have no idea and until we play the game I cant think of any theories BUT I dont think Riku’s gonna be gone for good, I think he’ll have a Lea situation where he becomes a nobody, ‘dies’ then returns to being his somebody again, or in other words is revived/reborn
Anyway thats all for my theories on who’s most likely to die on the heroes side but what about the villains?
Saix is definitely marked for death, same for most of the seekers of darkness, Vanitas and Ventus MIGHT actually make peace and accept one another and reunite so in a way you could say Vanitas ‘dies’ or he could go tragically and be killed being separated from Ven forever once again
And of course Xehanort is definitely gonna die, he’s the only one I am atleast 98% sure is going to die because at this point he has to unless they go the Iron Blooded Orphans route where literally almost all of the good guys DIE and the bad guys actually WIN with our heroes just having to live in hiding defeated Xehanort is almost gauranteed to die so IMO Xehanort is dead
Now to explain my ranking before I end this post so some of you who may be confused understand what I mean
Marked for death - means they have a target on their back and are within the enemies crosshairs and are highly likely to die unless they are saved by some deus ex machina and a miracle happens
Hanging by a thread - means that they are close to death but not quite sure if they’ll actually die hence why their hanging by a thread, maybe it’ll snap maybe it wont just gotta wait and see how things play out
Safe is self explanatory and the same applies for Dead
Thats everything, let me know if you agree or disagree or you think someone else will die that I didnt mention and why
