16. Grimoire

“Klaus this is idiotic”

“Shut up Ben, I’m focusing”

Klaus is on his bedroom floor, poring over a grimy old book and burning various herbs in a ceramic mug. He’d snuck in some time before dawn and excitedly awoken Ben claiming that he’d found a real magic shop before pulling them both to his room and emptying out his pockets.

“You’re going to set off the fire alarm”

“Do you honestly think I haven’t disabled all the smoke detectors within range of my room?”

Ben just rolls his eyes. Klaus is right, but Ben will never say it. The wannabe witch double-checks his spell book before snuffing the flames and speaking in something that sounds suspiciously like bullshit to Ben. He ends the… spell? Ritual? By pouring the ashes over a blank piece of paper, dramatically leaning over it, and rubbing swirling patterns with his fingers.

“Oh my god!” Klaus exclaims, holding the paper in front of his face “It actually worked!”

In spite of himself, Ben is actually curious. “What? What worked?”

“Look! A message from the other side!” Klaus excitedly turns the paper to Ben’s face. Woven amongst the smudged swirls, Ben deciphers cursive lettering:

and also the whole 'stan getting that poem by bill via a website which contrasts with bill getting one from the axolotl via a website' foreshadowing thing

like idk i would love something like su future but like more optimistic, aka not an accumulated breakdown that has to be mostly resolved off screen at the end :/// but something thats being kinda addressed throughout? (although would love to see one of them turn into a monster thats always fun lol)

stan having severe issues from his dad and those years of being homeless that we keep on getting more info on but never really getting confronted on (the drifter catalogue and tijuana incident...), him being completely alone for like twenty years when running the shack before soos comes along to the point that 1998 is noted as his low point, and him not really learning about bill+what he did to ford until ages after he killed him if he ever did get the full context

while i think amnesia and everyone seeing him as a hero actually helped with stan's 'i'm a worse version of my brother' thing its still a lingering issue too and we now got him being insecure over his own hands

ford being immediately thrown from 'being tortured by bill' to 'being stuck in the multiverse and being chased by bounty hunters constantly', him fully expecting himself to die when destroying bill, and him only now being safe for the first time in 30 years ....relatively safe, he's still in constant danger because of course he is

idk in the end the series wants them to be happy and they deserve it, its why i wasn't too worried about the book being like 'ooh bill is back!! and the book is haunting ford' thing cos i knew they'll be ok

Ykw quick shout-out to selfshippers who for any reason dislike the popular ships in whatever fandom their f/o is from. Shout-out to everyone who has to block a bunch of ship tags or who can't go into their f/o's tag without seeing some kind of ship art they dislike or feel uncomfortable with.

Your discomfort is fully valid and you know your f/os best! They adore you, no matter what the fandom says, even if there's a lot of people who say otherwise or ship them with other characters, I promise.

got this reblog on one of my posts were i talked about being anxious about the future of the zelda series after totk and-

i even went back and unblocked them just to check my own post and check twice what they meant exactly- but i still dont know how they got to these conclusions

i never said i 'want a good uwu ganondorf' (bc that would mean hes aligned with hyrule bc thats how goodness works!!!!11!1!!!), i also dont think of any of the zeldas as 'whores' (seriously, where did that come from?? neither me nor the addition of someone agreeing with me said anything like that??? did they think bc the addition called tloz misogynistic means we think zelda is a whore????? huh???)

its also funny how they say they want zelda to stay a simple fairytale rather than have 'people like me' bc .. one point i talked about in the og post was how the evil arab thing VS good white people media likes to do so much is so normalized here that its simply seen as a simple harmless fairytale trope instead of a big underlying issue in general media and the writers might not even realize it (which is worse) bc the most 'generic' appeal is to people who dont think of it as a problem in the first place, because it is so normalized

(huh, i wonder about what kind of person that part was about .. hmmmm)

(ALSO funny they mention princess hilda as nuanced villain ... like ... wow they are so nuanced about purple haired people!!- like guess why we want a nuanced/less badly/less flat written ganondorf and what he, in particular, has not in common with other villains! its not his hair color! .... or was that point supposed to mean .. look we have one female character that is a villain, its not misogynistic! idk honestly)

(and the classic, "you just call it this/dont like it bc its not what you wanted !!!!!!!2!"1!112!!")

also funny how its 'never gonna be progressive enough' like asking for the franchise to maybe put a little more thought and nuance into their white divine right vs evil desert man simulator instead of making it worse is already asking too much

(also yes totk is racist, like most if not all of the franchise and a alot of other media as well, shocker- you can still like it though, i and plenty of other people are still fans of it, we just wish they did a little more with their stuff and maybe not make the racism problem WORSE)

tbh idk! part of me thinks i have done enough damage lmao, and im also not sure how i would do it, because on one hand i would HAVE to exclude ships that were included in this one because otherwise that would be boring, right? but on the other hand there are iconic ships that didn’t make it past the first couple rounds so…

but ik there were a lot of ppl who didn’t get to submit ships the first time around, and a friend did agree that if i decide to run a new one she would help which would make it easier on me lol, so…we shall see 🫡

definitely nothing will happen before the new year tho!
