People are always like "but you shouldn't need it to be you/your daughter/your wife" or "you shouldn't need some metaphor to understand" or "why are we watering this down for people" - Listen:

If I've learned anything by the (weak, watered down, unfocused) leftist reaction to the current attempted genocide of trans people, it is that very few people will act or put themselves in danger unless it DIRECTLY affects them. ESPECIALLY other minorities who are not multiply marginalized (w the understanding that can bring) but Do have a lot to lose.

That's not true for every person! Some people have a basic understanding of empathy and compassion. Some people have higher level critical thinking skills or kindness. But I hate to break it to you - all of those things (empathy compassion critical thinking even kindness) are SKILLS. They are not a given. They are rarely honed by accident. They are difficult and many times come at a cost to you to learn and practice.

People may not have these skills for a MILLION reasons, but many of them are linked to poverty and generational trauma, lack of funded public education, and living in a dystopian capitalistic society that prioritizes individualism and leaves barely any time or energy for thinking through complex ideologies unless you MAKE that time. None of those reasons are "they're just too dumb" or "they only have the capability for hate and evil."

There are people doing very bad, purposefully malicious, monstrous things - and they are still people. If we lose sight of that we lose sight of the lengths of dangers and kindness capable of EACH of us. Beyond those with real harmful intent, there are MANY MANY MANY more people who are letting themselves accept the wrong solutions to the same problems we all see. For example, many of them genuinely want to protect children! And they listened to the answers for how to do so given to them by church and state and friends.

THOSE are the people we need to make metaphors for, we need to connect with individually, we need to show how and why this will impact THEIR lives. In a perfect world where the entire American society wasn't run on "us v them" that wouldn't be necessary!!! But it is! Because they want to protect the people IN THEIR LIVES right now, not a theoretical kid somewhere else they can't imagine being anything like their own. They want to put food on the table and a roof above the heads of their family, and they have grasped onto ANYTHING that they think will let them keep providing that.

We need to show these people how easily their child could be the center of these debates. How limited a world their child will grow up in without access to information on different ways of being and existing. We need to show them how and why this will impact them, their daughters, their wives, because we need to break through that concrete wall of defensiveness, built and calcified by the words of politicians and leaders with malicious intent but hiding nothing but desperate fear. We need to make it personal, to make it real FOR THEM, to make it understandable without a college level degree of critical thinking analysis why and how this war will show up at their doorsteps too.

It's exhausting. It's hard!!! It's infuriating and invalidating and endless. But appealing to their humanity, in whatever means that must take, is the only way to thaw out those who may stand with us. Because if we stand alone, I know with every bone in my body we will fall alone as well.

This was quite the message to wake up to. I'm sorry for taking a while to respond, I wanted to give it as much care as I could while also being punctual in my response, and those are some tricky things to juggle. I'm putting the rest of this post under a cut for those who'd like to avoid this discussion.

I'm assuming you're responding to my previous posts where I talked about my being Christian and my perspective on people's divine right to choose the way they live and believe, and answered some responses to my initial points. But I'm really confused as to what “get-out-of-bigotry-free card” you're referring to. Are you talking about how I described agency? That wasn't intended to be seen in any way like you've described it. I also didn't ever boast about being a good person as this message seems to imply. I try to be a good person, but I don't wave it about on a flag to brag about. 

I'm sorry if this is presumptuous to say, but you're coming at me with a very hostile, angry tone while assuming many things about what I've said and who I am as a person. I'm sorry that what I've said has clearly hurt you in order to have gotten this reaction, but I'm a human being as much as you are. If you are hurting, I want to talk about that hurt in a calm way. We don't need to sling curse words or accusations to do so. 

For the first point of your second paragraph— do you even care about all the injustice and pain and murder in the world because of christian hatred, or do you think is all a rules-game and we all get to go to a morally-acceptable afterlife in the end— yes, I do care. It disgusts me that people have warped a message of love and charity into something so repulsive that they can use to justify acts of malice and hatred. Christian hatred is a fundamentally vile phrase to me, because Christianity is defined in my religion as “taking upon you the name of Christ”— which essentially means striving to live to be as much like Jesus as possible. Jesus wasn't hateful. Jesus wasn't cruel. Jesus was shown a woman who was set to be stoned to death and told the people who brought her forward to mind their own business and think about their own lives, then bent down and offered her compassion and comfort. As for myself, there's circumstances in my life that prevent me from doing much concrete advocacy for many causes, but I speak and vote where I can to make the world a happier place, protect people's rights, and defend them against predatory behavior. I'm unfamiliar with the phrase “rules-game” and couldn't find a definition for it, so I can't answer that portion of your question directly, but I believe that the afterlife is fundamentally morally acceptable, yes. I wouldn't be following a religion that I found immoral on a doctrinal level.  

For the second question of that first paragraph: I'm not going to use the same phrasing as you, but I do give a hoot. I also didn't try to make any excuses for myself. I'm confused as to where you felt like I did so. I do regularly consider my belief system and why I believe it, as well as consider the journey I've taken with my faith. I've identified myself as an atheist and an agnostic at various points in life before coming back to Christianity. To put it in a nutshell, I've done a lot of thinking on the subject throughout the years and have grappled with a lot of things about my religion that I didn't understand when I was younger, until I got a better recognition of them. I am not a blind follower of my faith.

My church doesn't believe humanity is a gaggle of kids that God left in a hot car in some cosmic parking lot. We believe in God communicating with people throughout every era— He's still talking to and guiding humanity. We call ourselves the restored church because we believe in continuing revelation, that God isn't done revealing the Gospel to us in its entirety. We've got the fundamentals, yes, but we're still learning the deeper stuff, and God is here to hold our hands along the way.

The fact that there is any hatred or shame involved is not something God wants for us. That's something that came into religion from humans, because we're mortal, and we have vices, grudges, flaws, and temptations. We're not perfect, and we bring imperfection wherever we go. That's why we have God directing us to try and improve constantly— to turn the other cheek and remove the beam from our own eye before commenting on the mote in our brother's. We're on individual paths to God, and it's not any one person's place to judge another's life. That's what God's here for, and He's the only one qualified to do it by virtue of knowing us so well that He recognizes the struggles and reasonings behind where we unwillingly fall short. He also recognizes when people act with intentional malice even where we wouldn't see any, and is able to judge accordingly. 

Judging by your final paragraph— you want to believe in god? or a doctrine of harmony and acceptance and justice? make one up. you can do a better job— if I'm reading this right, you believe the concept of God is fundamentally discordant, unaccepting, and unjust. We're coming at this from opposing worldviews if this is the case, and aren't going to agree. I believe in a God who is kind and wants to see us succeed. It doesn't seem like you feel the same. I'm sorry, but I don't have much else I can say on the subject. I won't change your mind when this seems like a very vital facet of your belief system, if the conviction you write with is any indicator. You won't change my mind when a caring, present God is something I've experienced so frequently that I can't see the world through any other lens.

I'm sorry that what I said previously seems to have hurt and upset you. It wasn't my intent. I hope that this response is able to communicate that along with my perspective.

I LOVE SAMELLA...... read twinning with a twist and havent been the same since but they really do just work really well together if you think ab it. with both coming from bad family situations (only implied for ella tho i think) and needing everyone to like them all the time. sammy is really hurt that she's always painted in a bad light no matter how hard she tries to fix it, while ella doesnt realize how she comes across as annoying and that people dont really like her until sugar flat out tells her, and she starts spending so much time trying to get sugar to like her. its just interesting bc sammy feels defeated and ella is just determined to both be herself and be someone who everybody likes.(though, and this might just be pulling from twinning with a twist a lot, it does feel like she uses her princess fantasy as escapism. possibly partly bc shes Not oblivious i bet she realizes people dont like her that much, she just doesnt know what to do about it. if they dont like her when shes trying to be the perfect princess and polite and kind what is so bad about her that even if shes nice they dont want her?) sammy IS nice, and she doesnt hide it, but somehow ends up taking the fall for amy's behavior (even tho amy was outright awful to everyone?? this plot confused me so bad. but i guess scarlett and amy dont care, topher probably just doesnt care or Loves to stir the pot, max and rodney are probably too dense, and we know how jasmine reacted) and she has such a complex about it its Bad. i honestly love sammy i wish they treated her better. i think ella shouldve also had a last straw snap like sammy did, just absolutely go off on someone about why they dont like her. isnt she trying hard enough? whats wrong with her? and sammy might see that as inspiration and really admire ella for it, and spend more time together (without amy this is important.) then later maybe sammy asks ella for tips and she tells her that she seems like a really nice person !! and maybe likens sammy to a princess as well, because ella didnt have amy on her team influencing her perception of sammy. so that like shocks sammy and she realizes that if ella can do it she can, and if ella sees her as someone worthy just knowing Sammy, then maybe she is, and has worth on her own outside of amy. i love jasmine but i dont love the way she just lets it happen either. i think sammy believed jasmine when she said she was good, but couldnt help but feel like its only because she feels sorry for her, and not really based on her own merit because amy has never let sammy have anything for herself, not even her friendship with jasmine. so being on different teams from ella and still bonding could give them a chance to establish that connection without amy at all, which might make sammy feel more secure that ella truly means what shes saying. i think one of the conversations would happen after ella is voted off, and sammy would get mad, saying that ella was genuinely sweet and they couldnt see past the fact that she was also 'too weird', and then say her situation was similar in that they judge her on the surface of what amy tells them without ever trying to get to know her at all, and she tells amy shes done trying to compete with her. her worth shouldnt depend on whether amy or their mother thinks shes good. maybe this could also relate to ella's brief crush on dave, and how she feels betrayed by sky for being so excited when she was clearly upset about it when she thought they were friends, and she also realizes dave didnt fit the mold she wanted him to. i think sammy would comfort her after, and this shouldve been the start of ella accepting she cant spend her whole life in a fantasy or she wont make real connections. and later when they get together sammy might confess she worries about not being enough for ella, not being able to fit the princess life. but ella tells her that their relationship isnt a fantasy, its real. she wants to take it slow, and not put any expectations onto her. like, character growth. IDK sorry for the rant i just like them

this ended up being long as hell so readmore time

so i live in this old fucking apartament building right, turns 120 soon, hasnt really been renovated in 50 years. and our apartament has the attic built in, which wasnt a feature originally and the previous tenant did it himself, badly, meaning weve had a hole in our roof for about 5ish years now that we just have not been able to fix. last november we had a pretty big storm that fucked the hole up even worse and our previous solution of just "put a bucket under it and leave the room" has stopped working because too much water was getting in and my sister had to start sleeping in a different room so safe to say, shit state of affairs

my mum got a contractor to come take a look at it and the dude concluded that its dangerous to be left unfixed and hes gonna have to climb in between the attic walls and the roof bc due to the hole theres a shitton of mold that needs to be cleaned out. overall this wouldve cost us 600k forint thats more than my mum makes in 2 months and i had 9-5 at that point but my shit salary was not gonna fix this. so my mum had a breakdown and decided that well sell the apartament and try moving, which sucks bc when we got this place it was still cheap but since then the housing market has gone to shit and we wouldve had to live in a rental we probably wouldnt have been able to afford. but my mum still called an agent to check the house out, and he told us that theres no way were selling it, because of the big fucking hole, the messed up pipes and bc the building isnt insulated (legally cant be bc its a historical monument lmao. europe)

HOWEVER he also said. since this is an apartament building with 12 flats we have a house representative and we pay *google translate help me* common cost every month, to cover repairs on the house, that we shouldnt have to pay for the repairs, the house should. cause. its the whole houses roof not just our apartaments.

my mum went to the house rep (józsi) to ask about this, and he told her that this isnt true and that he wont pay for the repairs. which made my mum mad and she went and found a lawyer who said the house does have to pay for repairs. but józsi was still like i will not.

so my mum talked to all 12 of our neighbouring flats individually and found out that literally everybody has grievances with this dude. there has been an ENTIRE TREE growing on the roof for years now that we havent been able to get cleaned out, the staircase is borderline life threatening to use, we could technically get authorization for insulating the house but the rep needs to apply and józsi hasnt, one of the gates to the yard is like not working, etc

they ended up calling the first house meeting in years (were supposed to have those every month lol) where they ended up voting to have a new rep, and also to fix our roof. which got fixed by the way, and the mold was also cleaned out

BUT the story doesnt end here bc they still need to vote a new rep in. and my mum found this company who represents apartament buildings professionally and sure itd cost us some money but we pay the common cost anyway, and they have contractors they work with so itd be soooo easy to fix shit in the house. but for some reason some people decided they want this dude instead, who owns one of the flats in the building but does not live here, his insane mother does who hates me. and he DOESNT LIVE HERE the entire problem with józsi was, that he was like not helpful in any way and now they want a guy who doesnt even live here??

ANYWAY TODAY THE PLOT FUCKING THICKENED. because. my mum started looking over the houses finances with 2 of our neighbours one of whom is i think a lesbian but im not sure anyways they found out that józsi has been STEALING MONEY. FROM THE COMMON COST. WHICH IS WHY FUCKALL GOT FIXED IN THE HOUSE!!!!

every election we the Online Left have the same conversation about voting, and whether we should vote, so i'm going to lay out my thoughts on it and then link here next time i get into a fight. gonna try to positively present the most compelling reasons behind voting, and then the most compelling reasons why not to, and then just for fun i'm gonna say why one of the common reasons given for not voting is bad and people should stop using it.

full disclosure: i'm an anarchist, and i choose not to vote in most elections. i have voted in the past once.

here are the most compelling reasons to vote:

1. harm reduction

...which on an abstract level i completely understand. i can only speak for a UK context, but given the threat posed by the Tories and how much damage they would cause by being in power again, i empathise with the "lesser of two evils; we don't like Labour but gotta get the Tories out" mentality. it makes sense, and while i dont think that "vote for the marginally less evil party to get the very evil party out" is a particularly good way to do politics, i understand the impulse.

2. representation in government

having more trans or disabled MPs, or MPs of colour, would be cool. this is undeniable. having these voices in our houses of power might even mean that the UK might become less horribly transphobic, disablist, or racist. might

3. more power to small/fringe left parties

okay, dont vote for a big party like Labour: instead, you should vote for the Socialists! ignoring that basically every trotskyist/communist organisation in the UK is practically a cult and some people have legit trauma from their past membership, more voice to small left parties would theoretically be a good thing: when the SSP had representation in the Scottish Parliament they got free prescriptions. that's cool. it doesnt intersect very well with point #1, but that's okay.

4. spoil your ballot

i've done this before and it was fun. i wrote "trans liberation now!" on my ballot paper and submitted it. it was cool. i felt very sexy leaving my booth

most compelling reasons not to vote

1. is it harm reduction tho, really?

take a second with me and look at the negatives of both major parties. the Labour party are, as well as the Tories, a party of political transphobia, of supporting the ongoing genocide in Gaza, of institutional racism, of increased policing, and market-friendly, austerity producing policies. i'm not saying that they're equally as bad, but for the most marginalised in our society, there is no harm reduction, merely a change of ribbon. to a trans woman fired from her workplace or harassed out of a bathroom, or a black teenager beat up by police, or the people of Gaza, does it matter whether the government is red or blue? the effect is the same

2. a vote for any party is a vote against my existence

i'm transgender. i'm not going to vote for a party that is either actively transphobic or would be willing to sell out their commitment to trans people at the faintest whiff of power. i'm actually offended that someone would ask me to hold my nose and vote against my own existence. unfortunately this leaves me with the Lib Dems, who i havent forgiven for 2010 yet

3. fuck the state

this only appeals to anarchists, but if you dont think the state should exist imo you shouldnt actively be lending it legitimacy by participating in its power-rituals

4. more power to small/fringe left parties

my options here are the cult, the Transphobia Party, the Antisemitism Party, or the Transphobic and Antisemitic Cult (George Galloway's latest venture). the fringe statist left suuuuuuucks. fuck those guys

5. there are better things to do with your time

there will most likely be evictions on election day. go prevent those from taking place. then go talk and cook with your neighbours, set up an employee-only groupchat at work, donate to a food bank, write a poem, and bulk order HRT with your trans friends. refuse to delegate care to someone else and take it into your own hands: be impactful and helpful to yourself and those around you - it does a lot more than voting will. maybe once you've done all that then you can go cast a ballot if you really want to

bad reasons not to vote

1. the parties are the same!

no they're not. both are bad; one is worse. not a reason to vote - if you vote Labour you aren't an ally to trans people - but this is a weak argument

conclusion

i dont vote, or at least won't in 2024. i dont think that "harm reduction" is a compelling enough reason to cast a ballot against myself and my communities, and also amn't a big fan of the state. rant over: im going to sleep

genuine question for anyone who wants me to actually vote for biden: why are you only concerned about the things project 2025 outlines now? black and brown people have said many times over the past 4 years that these things, this list of horrible things that trump will do if he wins, are already happening and have been happening at an alarming rate under biden in southern states and republican controlled states. whenever we say 'hey this is a thing thats happening already and biden has the power to stop it from happening here but he doesnt' we get the response that its republicans we should blame, maybe we shouldnt have voted for them, maybe we should move, its a state issue not a federal one, youre dividing the party, you're falling for propaganda, actually when biden does it its ok because the policy makes sense. dismissive of our concerns even though everyone who was dismissive before when it was only affecting southern brown people and southern queers is panicked about it now.

it feels like the concern only comes now because itll affect yall. if you were not worried about this and openly critical of bidens lack of action when all of these project 2025 policies were being implimented and pushed in red states, when trans rights and gay rights were restricted, porn was slowly being redefined to include trans people and subsequently banned, when cop cities popped up and bordern agencies took more power and abortion rights were obliterated while miscarriages were criminalized. when biden signed a law ceasing all asylum seakers from crossing the border, a thing that is word for word on the project 2025 list. i genuinely want you to ask yourself 'why do i care about project 2025 now? am i only concerned with the things that personally will affect me?'

honestly it feels disingenuous when people say 'itll get worse, though' as if the state of things as they are for the majority queer folks and of poc, especially black and hispanic folks, who live in this country (as the majority of poc live in southern red states) is not already really bad, word for word using the policies on the project 2025 docket. You don't mean 'it will get worse' you mean 'it will get worse for me' . and, inevitably, just like what happened when clinton wasnt elected in 2016, when trump won, young brown and black people, especially women and queer people, will be blamed for not voting for the democratic candidate, even though overwhelmingly white people will vote for trump. it will fall to us again because we didn't 'do enough'.

So, genuinely. Why are you only concerned right now?

Turning my attention towards eddie as he says henderson, i sit up before getting up fully and walking over, "whats going on?" Eddie shakes his head "alright calm down" i look at eddie, he puts his hand on his head and im out the door going back to the trailer. 

Hearing my little girl crying i push open the front door and try to find the cries "dustin?!" "in here" he says, i go to parkers bedroom dustin with the phone inbetween his ear and shoulder, parker fussing in his arms. "im so sorry" he says, looking like he's about to cry. 

"what happened?" i say taking parker, "sh-she fell over, an-and bumped her head, an-and cut her lip" dustin says, "hey baby girl look at mumma" i sigh trying to get her to hold still so i can look at her head. I take her into the bathroom and sit her on the closed toilet seat and look at her lip, "baby girl" i sigh, seeing the blood drip down her mouth, i grab some tissue and hold it to her lip, but she pushes it away. "dustin can you grab me an ice pop please?" i say as eddie walks in "hey baby" he says softly. "look mumma and dada are gonna make it better baby girl" i sigh as she carries on crying. 

noticing a bump beginning to form on her head. "dustin what did she fall over?" "uh her feet?" he says handing me the ice pop, to which i wrap some tissue around the end and hand it to parker. She sucks on it the pop and the crying quietens down. I sigh looking at her head "would it be to dramatic to get it checked out?" i say to eddie, he shakes his head. "was it a bad fall?" eddie says to dustin, "i mean kinda yeah, she busted her lip open." 

I look up at eddie, "come on" he says "dustin get in the car" he says walking towards the front door, i grab a blanket and wrap parker up as i make my way to the truck and sit in the front with parker on my lap, dustin in the back. 

"im really sorry" he says, "i was watching her the whole time i swear" keeping my eyes on the little girl, her eyes slowly closing "hey no baby stay awake" i say kissing her head, she whines and carries on closing her eyes. "parker hunni" i sigh, looking to eddie, beginning to panic. "baby wake up" i say "eddie" i look to him, "going as fast as i can sweetheart" he smiles sadly. 

"y/n im so sorry" "dustin stop its fine" i say rather loudly, not meaning to, but trying to concentrate on the little girl. "right come on we're here" eddie says "go get signed in i'll park the car ok?" he smiles softly "i'll be two minutes, dustin go with her" he says. I jump out the car and walk a fast pace to the entrance going over to the front desk. 

"hi my daughter fell over, bumped her head, split her lip and is falling asleep on me, and i know thats bad like she shouldnt sleep in case" i say but the nurse stops me, "ok, ok, follow me" she smiles softly "is this little one" i nod, biting my lip, "alright it's ok" she smiles, bringing us into a room. "wanna pop her down here for me" she smiles softly. "I gave her an ice pop to try make her lip go down, she wouldnt let me clean it" i say, playing with my hands now. 

"I'm gonna wait outside for eddie" dustin says, i nod looking over at the boy before my attention is back on parker. 

EDDIE POV 

Parking the car, and jogging up to the hospital entrance i walk in and see dustin walk out of a room, "are they in there?" he nods "im so sorry eds" he sobs, i frown and wrap an arm around his shoulder. "henderson its ok" he shakes his head "really? then why are we here" he chokes. "you did the right thing kay? you rang me and we got here as soon as we could" "y/n hates me, shes not gonna trust me anymore" he says. i sigh softly and look at the younger boy "she doesnt hate you man, shes just worried about our daughter" i smile, he nods and looks up at me "im sorry eddie" he sighs wiping his eyes. "dont be, honestly" i smile giving him a hug before sitting him down in the waiting area, "she in there?" i nod towards the door he came out of. He nods "yeah, the nurse is looking her over" he says, i nod "you ok if i go check in?" he nods "of course." 

"hey henderson" he looks up at me as i walk towards the door, "i love ya man kay?" he nods sniffing "i love you too" he says wiping his eyes, i slowly open the door and see parker on the bed, "hey sweetheart" i say wrapping my arms around y/n as the nurse is looking over parker. She begins to open her eyes, but begins fussing, "hey p, your alright" i smile letting her hold my hand, her lip begins to wobble as the nurse towers over her. "hey shh" i mumble, as me and y/n both get down to her level to try comfort her. 

"She seems ok, however i would like to keep her overnight, just to keep an eye on her, purely because the bump was so close to her eye, and the fact she does keep dozing off" the nurse smiles softly, i nod and hold y/n. "i can get you into a room in around an hour ok?" she says "until then your welcome to wait in here" she smiles before walking out the small room. 

y/n is quick to turn and hide into my chest "hey shh" i mumble kissing her head "its alright sweetheart" i say rubbing her back, feeling her sob into my chest. "do you want me to run home and grab some things?" she shakes her head, "dont leave" she sobs, i nod "ok, ok" i sigh "what about henderson?" "i'll i'll call steve or something" she says looking up at me "just dont leave please" she says biting her lip. "alright, you stay in here with her and i'll go ring harrington and update henderson ok?" she nods but doesnt let go "im scared" she sobs, i nod "i know but we're in safe hands ok?" i kiss her head then kiss parkers head before leaving the room to update dustin. 

THIRD PERSON POV 

while y/n waits with parker, for eddie to return, eddie is on the phone to steve explaining whats happened, steve says he'll be there in 20mins max, to make sure everyone is ok and that dustin gets home safe. we love mumma steve. 

Steve arrives 30minutes later, handing eddie a bag of things from home, gives him a hug before taking dustin home. Eddie walks into the small room and smiles softly at you, "hey baby, harrington brought this" he says showing you the bag, you just nod and cuddle into his side. "why dont you go get changed into these before we move rooms then we can get comfy and get some rest yeah?" he smiles kissing the top of your head, "dont wanna leave her" you mumble, he nods "i know sweetheart but youve gotta look after yourself as well ok?" he says placing a hand on your tummy. 

"need to relax a bit, i know your worried but we're in a safe place and youve gotta think about you and little bean" he says, you nod your head and sigh grabbing the bag before speed walking to the toilets to change in to the joggers and jumper that were in there, both pairs of clothes being eddies, not that you minded. 

you quickly return to the room just as the nurse walks in, "room is ready, if your ready" she smiles, "does dad wanna bring parker up and i'll get her all sorted" the nurse smiles softly, eddie picks up parker, who is still a bit out of it. She cuddles into his chest as you all walk through the hospital to the small family room. 

Once he has placed her down into the hospital cot, the nurse puts parker on a drip of fluids to keep her hydrated, before grabbing some pain relief and giving it to the small girl before leaving you to it. Telling you if you need anything just press the button beside parkers bed. 

You pull the big chair closer to the babies cot and sit in it, watching over your little girl as she rests. "i hate this" you mumble "we shouldnt of gone out" you sigh, eddie shakes his head "it was an accident baby" he mumbles, bending down to your level. "not the point" you mumble, biting your nails. "sweetheart i need you to calm down ok" he sighs taking your hands into his. 

"you dont get it" you say "what dont i get sweetheart?" he says softly, "your child isnt in a fucking hospital bed are they, your child didnt have an accident, bump their head or split their lip open and end up in said hospital bed did they" you sob. 

Eddie nods, "i know sweetheart but" "but nothing eddie, you dont get it" he sighs, closing his eyes. "im gonna have a smoke ok? i'll be back in a few minutes" he says kissing your forehead then kissing parkers forehead before walking out the room. 

Eddie hasnt smoked a lot in a while, he has the odd cig here and there but not as constant as he used to, he doesnt want it around parker, or you and little bean. But he needed a moment, he needed to calm down, the words got to him, 'your child isnt' 'your child didnt.'

yet all eddie had done was treat parker as his own, was he doing something wrong? was he not doing enough? he knew you were upset and kinda overly emotional anyway at the moment but is that how you really felt? 

he sits on the bench and lights another cig, then another, before long he's smoked like 5-6 cigs in one go. His mind blank, as he looks out to the road, he stomps out the last cig before throwing away the packet and making his way back inside. He enters the room quietly and sees you curled into a ball in the chair. 

"i didnt mean it" you mumble, "i didnt mean it like how it sounded" you say sniffing "she is yours, i just" you sniff again, "i know sweetheart dont gotta explain yourself ok?" he sighs, picking you up and placing you on his lap. "i get it, your feeling alot right now, but please let me help you" he sighs kissing your head. You nod "sorry eddie" you sigh hiding away in the crook of his neck. "shh, get some rest ok" he mumbles, rubbing your arm, and kissing your head every so often.

i just had a conversation with an 11 year old in among us.

he was sus’d incorrectly, i saw him task but i was dead so i couldnt quite say anything about it. anyways instead of just taking this as bad luck, he immediately exploded on everyone else, calling them the n word, the r word, to get cancer and choke on turds, all that stuff. he was BIG mad. they voted him and he got airlocked.

so he’s a ghost now, with me in ghost chat. and im like “dude you gotta relax. it’s just a game, dont be so mean to others.” and predictably he explodes on me too. like ‘fuck you kid die of cancer’ etcetc. im like ‘are you 9 years old? you’re just making yourself look ridiculous, you dont need to act like that to others’ and he goes “im 11. what are you my mom?”

i say “im 27.” because i think it important to let children know that you’re an adult. he, predictably, calls me a saggy old whore. i ask “did you have a bad day or something? do you need to talk about it?” and he said “yeah, actually.” i encouraged him to vent, seeing as how we were the only ghosts.

he told me he was moving cross country soon, from california to north carolina. that the town he was moving to looked shitty and boring, that the school looked underfunded. that he had a great life and friends in cali, and loved being by the ocean. i told him my husband moved a lot as a child too, because of his parents being military. that it can really affect you even as you grow up, but that its important to talk about it in a safe environment so it doesnt explode out like this and hurt others.

he said he was just really mad.

he said he felt like he was vanishing from his own life. i encouraged him to remember that the internet can help him keep in touch with people he loves, and that even if you’re far away, even if you never talk again, you always remember your best friends, and that theyll always remember him too.

 he said he was just really sad.

i told him it was okay to be sad but that he shouldnt take it out on strangers, even if it seems safe because of the anonymity.

he said “gay.” and left the game.

I'll take you up on that offer of being genuine because I like it when people do the same for me. This first part is all for your first question.

Short answer is that democracy is the worst form of government there is, except for everything else we've tried. Long answer is an essay below the cut.

I want to go through your first question kind of point by point, but first I want to try and imagine a better system of government, and while I disagree with a violent overthrow of the current government (as I do not think it is yet necessary), thats where I'll start for building a better government; a blank slate.

So all the fascists and other parties and ideologies that want power over others are dead and gone, both foreign and domestic, so we don't have to worry about defending against an outside force reverting us back to the current status quo, which happens in so, so many revolutions.

All basic services necessary for life (food, water, electricity, sewage, medicine, education) are readily available. There are still resources to share and standards to set. I'll even propose a moneyless society that works (though I disagree about such feasability or necessity). The greatest resource of all: land. Not just land for farming, but for nature and for living, for industry (electricity and its generators must be produced still, medecine must still be made), etc. How will what goes where and when still needs to be decided. Even if there is a group of experts to decide these things, how do we form agreement on who gets to be in this group of experts? if theres no group of experts, how do we form agreement with eachother? You cant just make more land, you will always need to share and the dutch cant make enough for everyone.

Then there are arbitrary standards, for the longest times these have been weights and measures. competing standards with no oversight leads to bad results:

So how do we get everyone to agree on arbitrary standards that must be followed, but theres no reason for any decision to go any which way? Switching medication amounts from CCs to fl oz will kill people. you say CCs I say fl oz. now what?

Democracy does not stop any of these things from going wrong, and it certainly doesnt automarically provide for everything ive laid out in this hypothetical future, but its also pretty much the only way to get these things right, if thats at all possible. Now this is just an opinion, but I prefer having a system that sometimes gets things right over a system that cant get things right at all, while we try to find a system that can always get things right. its a tough pill to swallow, but we havent found that system yet.

Now answering your first question directly. Right now, whats the appeal of democracy? A fire extinguisher, or at least fire retardent. Anyone who tells you "all you need to do is vote" is indeed trying to pacify you away from direct action. Voting also buys you time for direct action to work. If you reply, I'd like this responded to directly, as I know this is a length post: Is it impossible to vote for a new system that does indeed outlaw fascism? Not that is it impossible for anything else to bring about a better system, but can this? can voting? If it can, shouldnt we have a diversity of tactics, try everything we can do bring about that better system?

Now onto your second question. First, yes I do really, really believe that (not all, but too many, and certainly of those in positions of power) want to do exactly as youve listed. However, political violence is a dam that once burst is not easy to rebuild, and its a river that flows both ways; usually until everyone is drowned. If republicans and fascists already hold systemic power then if history repeats itself, that means they are better positioned to engage in political violence then we are.

Whether we like it or not, there are genuinely neutral people who will only ever care about justifications and what is or is not within the rules, regardless of how moral those rules are, and they will turn against whoever breaks the rules first. I know it doesnt always seem like it because fascists have gotten away with bending the rules and shaping them to benefit themselves for so long (and disavowing their own who outright break them), but its true. Theres a reason abolitionism skyrocketed in the U.S. only after the confederacy broke the rules first.

It is a petty, vindictive, and cruel game fascists are forcing others to play with your lives as the game pieces; but I think all they care about is playing the game, and if we don't play at all, I think theyd prefer to just smash the pieces. When they start smashing pieces (and it is a matter of when, not if) I have no problem with violence then. Until then, they are offering not to smash the pieces yet as long as we keep playing the game at the ballot box. Right now, if we stop playing, that large group of neutral people will stand idly by as the fascists start smashing pieces, and theyll say the rules allow it because the fascists won by still playing. If we play the game long enough to win, the neutral party will side with us when the fascists start smashing pieces, because we played by the rules to win, and losers dont get to smash pieces. If we break the rules by hitting the fascists first, that neutral party will side with them, even if we did the right thing, because we broke the rules first.

I really do have an honest question for libshit voteblues, and it seems like it isn't an honest question because that's what I call them but it's merely an honest descriptor:

Anyway, two questions.

Question the first: If Republicans have managed to game the formal structure of the democratic system so that they threaten to end it each and every election cycle, and the proximate consequence is transition to a fascist dictatorship under God Emperor Trump and his Project 2025, then what the FUCK is the appeal of democracy supposed to be? Why are we supposed to fight to keep this system in place instead of inaugurating some other system that categorically excludes fascists from access to political power?

And closely related question the second: if you really believe, if you really, really believe that the Republicans are getting ready to send my family and me back to the plantations and open up death camps for every central American immigrant and Muslim in the country, then why aren't you moving to make the Republican party fucking illegal? Why aren't you firebombing their offices or assassinating their ideologues? Because that's what people have done in the past in similar situations and your insistence on simply forestaying their sweep into power until 4 years later is not commensurate with the seriousness of the consequences in imminent loss of life that you're claiming to believe is at stake.

it was silent for a long time before ingeniumu cleared his throat and looked up, everyone seeing the ghost of tears in his eyes, "we have to call h-headquarters," his voice cracked but he stood tall, he would make a great captain one day, even with his pushover attitude.

you were crowded in the cafeteria, a computer resting on the table with headquarters on the line.

"im sorry to say this but you have an imposter."

you shook your head, you refused to believe it, how could these people, your FRIENDS, who you've lived with for a year, how could they be imposters?

though you shouldnt be surprised, the league has been gaining members, rarely any ship didnt have at least ONE imposter, some even having as much as three, you just thought you guys were the exception.

"twice, hawks, you searched thirteens body correct?" a voice came through the screen.

"yes sir," hawks quietly muttered.

"was everything in place?"

the vent key, really easy to pass through, was originally made for people to quickly go from room to rooms, but after the rise of imposters who started using it to sneak up on people, only one person was allowed to use it per day.

the voice cursed, "very well." a sigh could be heard, "well you know the drill," you did, you just didnt like it, "if you suspect someone, send them out and let them die," you gulped.

you didnt know if you could do that, even knowing that someone here murdered thirteen, you learned to care for each of them, even weirdo itchy snatch tomura. you didnt know if you could just send them into space to suffocate. even the thought made you sick.

"until then, we'll need you to finish your tasks fast, we'll have you home by the end of the day, which means the imposter will probably try to kill faster today. watch out." with that a beep was heard, signaling that you were disconnected.

a grim silence filled the room.

hawks finally spoke up, "which one of you assholes did it?"

dabi glared at the taller man, "fuck you dude, how do we know you didnt do it?"

hawks took a step closer, "bold accusations from someone who seems to hate everyone!"

"why would I kill one of the only people I actually like in this shithole?"

"because he had the vent key dumbass!"

"hey!" twice yelled.

hawks glowered at him, "oh yeah, how could we forget twice here? you found the body right? meaning you were the last one to see him? why DID you decide to check on him huh?"

"why would I come to you guys then?!"

"i dunno, to throw off suspicion maybe?"

you finally snapped "stop it!" everyone's heads shot towards you, "thirteen is dead," you choked out, "and I know thay we're all upset but we just have to finish today's tasks and then we're back home, okay?"

everyone stared, until deku started nodding, "y-yeah! just today's tasks left! then we'll go home and catch the imposter and we'll be fine!"

"what makes you so sure we'll catch him once we get home idiot?"

deku stared up confusingly at kaachan, "dont we have cameras?"

ingeniumu looked at his friend "obviously deku but whatre you getting at?"

"our cameras have memory sticks," shoto spoke up quietly, "when they're connected into one of headquarters machines, you can access all of what it caught,"

deku nodded rapidly, "exactly!"

your eyes lit up, "deku your a genius!" you grabbed his head and gave him a big smooch on the forehead, leaving him a red and stuttering mess.

dabi tsk'ed, "c'mere,' he grabbed you hand and pulled you towards him, wrapping you hands around you and resting his head on your shoulder.

you rolled your eyes playfully at his jealous nature.

"fine. we finish our task but if another person is found dead we're booting someone off." with that, hawks stormed off.

you tried not to go too harsh on him, you knew hawks looked up to thirteen, and beneath that cocky demeanor, he really was soft.

knowing that though, you couldnt help but feel some fear and resentment.

fear because you didnt think you could kill off one of your own and resentment because you knew hawks would make you do exactly that.

"we should have a plan," ingeniumu speaks up, "4 groups of two who continue on and do their tasks, and I think twice should be on security, just incase the imposter attacks again," everyone nods.

"i'll go with wonder," dabi states, already grabbing your hand,

"dont you think you'll get distracted with...other things?" tomura smirks, dabi clenching your hand in his.

"fuck. off."

"oo feisty~"

dabi glares, "yknow you dont really seem to care much that thirteens dead!"

tomura's eyes flash a dangerous color and he leans forward.

"the FUCK did you just say?"

"you heard me you fucking incel,"

"stop!" ingeniumu yells, "tomura is right, you guys do get quite distracted, wonder is with hawks, dabi your with shoto. ill go with tomura and that leaves deku and kaachan, with twice on security. let's go!"

dabi grumbles but goes with his brother as you lightly kiss him on the cheek and go with hawks.

you cant help but think about how amazing that kid is gonna be when hes older as a captain of his own ship.

you and hawks head off, both of you checking your list and stopping by rooms, the other waiting as they finish their task and repeating, until hawks sighed.

"how are you dating that asshole?"

you laugh, "hes not too bad once he likes you,"

"and what? he just doesn't like me?"

"exactly."

"what if he didnt like thirteen?" your smile drops instantly.

"hawks..."

"I'm just saying!"

"well STOP saying! I know dabi and he wouldnt betray me like that, so whatever accusations you have against MY boyfriend, I dont wanna here it," you scowl as you check your notebook, and started heading forward, "c'mon. I have to do wires in electrical."

hawks stayed quiet through the walk, as you stormed forward, wanting to get as much away from him as possible without ACTUALLY losing him. if you were being honest you were scared of going off alone.

as you walked in electrical you instantly went towards the wires, not noticing hawks standing in the doorway,

"wonder?"

"yes hawks?" you snap.

"I just saw someone vent." you pause and turn around.

"where and who?!"

"I dont know! I just saw the vent close when we walked in here and since Thirteen had the key before he died, that means that only the imposter can vent!"

"fuck! why would they vent though?!"

hawks paused. "maybe they killed someone again."

tears filled your eyes as you started searching the dark room, almost tripping over something, you only briefly looked up but you choked back a sob.

it was a foot.

"hawks!"

he came running towards you from behind the wall and saw the foot, gulping as he turned on the flashlight.

there say ingeniumu, with his throat slashed.

you couldnt hold back the cry that left your throat as hawks pulled you in for a hug, mostly to hide his own tears.

"what's going on in here?" you heard dabi's voice and you lifted you head to see him and shoto.

he looked mad but when hawks gestured with his flashlight towards the body, the brief flash letting both of the boys see, dabi understood.

"c'mere baby," he grabbed you quickly and held you tight as you sobbed into his chest, dabi looked up at his brother, "shoto can you call a meeting?" he asked softly. you assumed shoto nodded because there were no other words spoken.

there you all sat again, in cafeteria.

you were sniffling as dabi played with your hair, you holding shoto close as he leaned into you, still in shock of seeing his friend's lifeless corpse like that.

deku stood tall and didnt bother to hide the tears streaming down his face and even kaachan was caught sniffling a bit.

twice sat quietly in the corner, with his elbows on his knees.

hawks though, was red in the face from anger. and the victim of his anger was none other than tomura.

"you were teamed up with him fuckface!"

tomura simply shrugged, "I got bored and wanted to check on twice, see if he was alive,"

"well he is! but your partner fucking isnt!" hawks jammed his finger against the other mans chest, "and I think YOURE the cause!"

tomura raised his eyebrows, "I was with twice, right twice?" he did a 180 to stare hard at twice who looked up slightly and slowly nodded. that seemed to please tomura though as he turned back around, "see?"

"that doesnt mean shit! you were supposed to be with him!"

"but I wasnt."

"but you WERE! that's why the kid is dead!"

"I say we vote." shoto's voice was muffled by your neck and dabi's chest, where he was currently crammed in, but it was still intelligible.

you raise your head and wipe a few stray tears, "I think that's smart sho,"

you all nod and murmur in agreement.

"fine then. let's vote." hawks glares at tomura one last time, "who says skip?"

tomura, twice and shoto raise their hands.

"i dont think theres enough evidence." shoto explains and you nod, quietly telling him that theres nothing wrong with his belief.

hawks has a slight triumph look on his face, "who says that tomura is a fucking psychopath who likes to murder children!"

"murder a child. thirteen is practically twice my age" tomura corrects, "and besides I didn't do it."

hawks rolls his eyes, "whatever, everyone just vote."

you, dabi, hawks, deku and kaachan raise your hand, making you guys the winner.

"perfect." hawks drags tomura over to the ejecting room, usually used for heavier garbage that didnt fit in the disposal.

as you all surrounding the glass wall that separated you and tomura you cried a bit more.

sure you hated this dude but you still KNEW him!

"anything left to say sicko?" hawks glared at the smiling tomura.

"maybe you arent as much of a bird brain as I thought hawks. good job, you win," he does a slight bow like this was a performance before hawks pulls the lever, tomura's body flying out before hawks closed it again.

"he admitted to it." deku stated simply.

The Presidency of Martin Van Buren was hobbled by a long economic depression called the Panic of 1837. The presidency promoted hard money based on gold and silver, an independent federal treasury, a reduced role for the government in the economy, and a liberal policy for the sale of public lands to encourage settlement; they opposed high tariffs to encourage industry. The Jackson policies were kept, such as Indian removal and the Trail of Tears. Van Buren personally disliked slavery but he kept the slaveholder’s rights intact. Nevertheless, he was distrusted across the South.

The 1840 Democratic convention was the first at which the party adopted a platform. Delegates reaffirmed their belief that the Constitution was the primary guide for each state’s political affairs. To them, this meant that all roles of the federal government not specifically defined fell to each respective state government, including such responsibilities as debt created by local projects. Decentralized power and states’ rights pervaded each and every resolution adopted at the convention, including those on slavery, taxes, and the possibility of a central bank. Regarding slavery, the Convention adopted the following resolution:

What Happened In 1969

The war in Vietnam came to a head. The democrats under Kennedy had gotten us into the war and then after Kennedy was killed President Johnson continued and grew our presence in Vietnam.

Peoples opposition to the war became the focus of the democrat party and the emotional democrats became the protagonists for eliminating the policies that kept blacks in the back of the bus as well as free love and marijuana.

I was young at the time and this is the Democratic Party i remember which were opposed to real things. There was a war in vietnam. People were dying. There was segregation.

Republicans didnt resist outlawing segregation. The resistance was focused on the remaining segregationists in the Democratic Party. Strom Thurmond a democrat from the south fillibustered the passage of the civil rights act.

In 1968 the democrats held a national convention. This convention devolved into riots and was the watershed for racism and the Democratic Party. The racists were ejected from the Democratic Party ostensibly.

Democrats today claim that in 1969 what happened is that the racists in the Democratic Party moved to the Republican Party.

There is no evidence of this. Storm Thurmond, Robert Byrd never switched parties. Robert Byrd a former KKK leader stayed a democrat until he retired from the senate in 2010. Biden called Byrd a mentor.

Biden was one of the most outspoken opponents of busing.

None of that is true.

If you arent a democrat then they dont want you in the identity group.

After The Civil War Democrats Continued To Fight Against Equality For Blacks

For 100 years the democrats staged a rear guard action seeking to keep blacks subservient and doing their bidding.

They passed laws to limit black peoples ability to vote, to sit on the front of the bus, to own land, to rent apartments, to go to the same schools and many other things.

If anyone owes black people reparations it is these democrats.

Given this history of democrats it is stunning that the Democratic Party continues to exist. Shouldnt it be disbanded? We are tearing down statues, removing names of historically racist people and institutions so why not destroy the Democratic Party? It is slavery and was the principal advocate of slavery. They also were heavily involved in passing racist laws, hanging blacks and many republicans who opposed the democrats.

Why would anyone want to be part of a party that was historically so critical and central to the whole effort to enslave and repress blacks?

People have a tendency not to be partisan and to label this as white Americans that did this but it was the Democrats. Republicans were the ones fighting it. If not for those republicans the black people in America would never have been freed or gotten voting rights or many other things that had to be fought. Many white republicans were killed by democrats even after the end of the civil war who were called sympathizers.

Again, why doesnt this basic fact that is indisputable matter?

Those blacks who could vote between 1860 and 1969 voted for republicans.

A New Political Party

After passing all these pro-slavery laws, in May 1854, a number of anti-slavery members in Congress formed a new political party to fight slavery. These anti-slavery members were from the Whigs, Free Soil advocates and Emancipationists. They wanted to gain equal rights for black Americans.

The name of that party? They called it the Republican Party. They chose this name because they wanted to return to the principles of freedom and equality. These are the principles first put forth in the documents of the republic before the pro-slavery Congressional members had misused and manipulated to their own purposes those original principles.

The New Deal Era: 19321939

After Roosevelt took office in 1933, New Deal legislation sailed through Congress at lightning speed. In the 1934 midterm elections, ten Republican senators went down to defeat, leaving them with only 25 against 71 Democrats. The House of Representatives was also split in a similar ratio. The “Second New Deal” was heavily criticized by the Republicans in Congress, who likened it to class warfare and socialism. The volume of legislation, as well as the inability of the Republicans to block it, soon made the opposition to Roosevelt develop into bitterness and sometimes hatred for “that man in the White House. Former President Hoover became a leading orator crusading against the New Deal, hoping unrealistically to be nominated again for president.

Most major newspaper publishers favored Republican moderate Alf Landon for president. In the nation’s 15 largest cities the newspapers that editorially endorsed Landon represented 70% of the circulation. Roosevelt won 69% of the actual voters in those cities by ignoring the press and using the radio to reach voters directly.

Roosevelt carried 46 of the 48 states thanks to traditional Democrats along with newly energized labor unions, city machines and the Works Progress Administration. The realignment creating the Fifth Party System was firmly in place. Since 1928, the GOP had lost 178 House seats, 40 Senate seats and 19 governorships, though it retained a mere 89 seats in the House and 16 in the Senate.

Southernization; Oh That Sounds Fun Wait It Isnt

From the 1960s to the 2000s a southernization of the Republican party occurs. Paired with Goldwater and;Hoover states rights conservatism and along;with old Anti-Communist ideology, it was enough to completely change the political parties.

From the late 1800s to the 2000s Republican progressives moved toward the Democratic Party and Southern Conservatives moved toward the Republican party. See;the New Deal Coalition and Conservative Coalition.

The grand result is that the David Dukes of the world today fly the Confederate Battle flag and vote Republican.

This story;is a major reason why the voter map looks the way it does.

Meanwhile, while we can still see Gores and Clintons, and sometimes even a Byrd, in the modern Democratic party, those Redeemer and Redeemed liberals made a conscious choice to ally with the dominate Progressive and Neoliberal factions in this cycle.

What Does Republican Mean

On July 6, 1854, disgruntled voters in a new political party named its first candidates to contest the Democrats over the issue of slavery. Within six and one-half years, the newly christened Republican Party would control the White House and Congress as the Civil War began.

For a brief time in the decade before the Civil War, the Democratic Party of Andrew Jackson and his descendants enjoyed a period of one-party rule. Presidency Of Andrew Jackson

Today the solid south, and figures like Jeff Sessions, are in an alliance in the big tent of the Republican Party . This was as much a response to the growing progressiveness of the Democratic Party as anything.

Clearly, the country has never been fully polarized, even at its most polarized.

The (Revised) Warrior Code

I’m working on a Warriors rewrite and I’ve spent most of the day working on this new and (hopefully) improved Code! There is one more unofficial rule that I didn’t write down and consequently forgot, so I may send that one in later.

Oh lovely! Let’s check it out!

THE CODE

Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friends with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, for someday you may meet them in battle. Taking a mate from another Clan is strictly forbidden.

Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan’s territory. If one must reach Highstones, they may cross WindClan territory unchallenged, but may not hunt. If a message must be carried across borders, the messenger is granted safety.

Queens, kits and elders eat before apprentices and warriors. Apprentices must perform their daily duties before eating unless given explicit permission. The sick and injured eat alongside the queens, kits and elders.

Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to the Place of Many Stars for it’s life

A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice. A leader may delay an apprenticeship, but cannot perform the ceremony earlier.

Newly appointed warriors must hold a silent vigil. They may not speak or move until the following sunrise, unless the Clan is in danger.

A warrior must have been a successful mentor to become deputy.

The deputy becomes leader when the current leader dies or is exiled.

After the death, retirement, exile or promotion of the deputy, a new one must be named before moonhigh.

A Gathering is held during the full moon. A truce is kept for the night, and there will be no fighting amongst the Clans at this time.

Borders must be checked and marked daily. All trespassers will be challenged, but violence will only be used if necessary.

No cat can neglect or harm a kit, no matter it’s origins.

A leader’s word is law, and must be respected at all times. If the word of the leader is endangering Clan members unnecessarily, the medicine cat may confer with the elders and override this authority.

A warrior should not kill unless it is in self-defense. An unnecessary death will be paid back to the Clan who lost a cat.

Warriors must reject the life of a kittypet.

Each Clan has the right to be proud and independent, but in times of trouble they must forget their boundaries and fight side by side to protect the four. Each Clan must help the others so that no Clan will fall.

Alright, so pretty standard, basically a version of the code with some extra clarifying statements that are pretty needed given the chaos in the books. Looks good!

PUNISHMENTS & EXPLANATIONS

1. Punishments vary due to the severity of the crime, and the judgement of the leader. Defending a friend from another Clan can result in mild punishment, or in extreme cases, exile. Forbidden relationships can result in Gathering privileges revoked, along with border patrol privileges. If kits result from this couple, the kits will stay with the mother. If the mother dies, then the kits will be sent to their father’s Clan. If the leader of the mother’s Clan does not want the kits, they will be sent to the father’s Clan. One Clan must always accept the kits.

This is a good thing to have rules about, although if a clan didnt accept a litter of kits they would be crazy to give up extra clan blooded members. Still important to have in mind though. 

2. By hunting on another’s territory, one makes themselves susceptible to a scolding from the leader, and put on apprentice duties. They also must return the prey that was caught, or catch another piece of similar prey to return to the opposing Clan.

Oh I like this, basically hunting on someone else’s territory is just free hunting for the other clan, a good way to deter ambitious warriors or apprentices from doing something stupid.If one eats without completing their duties or getting permission, they will receive a scolding from their mentor/leader, and will be assigned apprentice chores.

5. It is the duty of the medicine cats and elders to remind their leader of this rule, and if the leader insists upon performing the ceremony, a council of elders, led by the medicine cat, will be held.

6. If a new warrior is caught speaking for unnecessary reasons, they will be reassigned apprentice chores and be supervised by an older warrior on patrols.

Lots of little rules, but good ones, its mostly about the respect.

7. If a leader appoints a deputy who has not successfully mentored an apprentice, the leader must provide a good reason for electing to appoint them, and the Clan must hold a vote after hearing this evidence.

8. If the deputy is challenged, the challenger can provide evidence on why the deputy is not fit, and the deputy can also argue their case. A vote will be held, directed by the medicine cat.

I appreciate the involvement of Medicine cats more as a backup/enforcer of the laws, I imagine they and the elders would also be counselors and more aware of the laws as well.

9. No punishment occurs if a new deputy is not named, but it is extremely taboo to not appoint one on time. The new deputy may be treated with some suspicion.

Superstition, especially in a heavily religious and spiritual society, is a powerful motivator, it’s wise to take it into account.

10. If a Clan attacks another Clan during a Gathering, the other three Clans can decide what punishment befalls the attacker. It can include being banned from Gatherings, or disallowed access to certain neutral grounds.

Yes, its wise to include the rest of the clans in these sort of decision making. Clans should band together to ensure one of them isnt going beyond the constraints of the rules and the code. If clans would police each other, we wouldnt get the chance for one to simply drive an entire clan out. Its a system of checks and balances.

11. If it can be proved that a border has not been marked recently enough, or violence is used unnecessarily, the Clan leaders can decide an appropriate punishment, such as assigning apprentice duties and hunting/caring for injured cats.

12. If a kit is neglected or comes to harm for any reason, offenders can receive a variety of punishments. If a kit was harmed with malicious intentions, the offender can be exiled. If a kit is neglected due to a bias, the offender will be scolded and punished with chores or apprentice assignments, or be tasked with caring for the kit.

This is a good way to ensure that the clan doesnt end up with abusive parents, or just general abuse. The future of the clan is in its kits, they should be cared for and protected at all costs.

13. A leader who endangers their Clan for unnecessary reasons can be exiled, or reprimanded by their medicine cat and elders. Medicine cats are responsible for determining if the endangerment is unnecessary.

Again, good checks and balances, the leader shouldnt be the absolute authority, even if they are the primary authority.

14. A warrior who kills another warrior for an unnecessary reason must repay the Clan who lost a warrior by hunting for the family or providing services for the other Clan.

15. A warrior who is found fraternizing with kittypets will be reprimanded by their mentor, leader, elders and/or medicine cat, and assigned apprentice duties and chores. If the behavior continues, and the offender sees no harm in what they’re doing, the offender may be sent to live with the kittypets.

Its a fair punishment. If they like the kittypets so much, maybe thats the life for them. Decisions have consequences.

16. If a Clan refuses to assist with a threat deemed necessary for four-Clan intervention by the medicine cats and elders, the other three Clan will decide a punishment for the offending Clan. Punishments can include being banned from Gatherings, or disallowed access to certain neutral grounds.

Already expanded on this above, but its a really good addition to expected rules.

  OTHER RULES

Medicine cats are permitted to have a mate and kits if another medicine cat is trained and ready to assist with all duties.

All patients must be treated equally, regardless of relation to the medicine cats.

Medicine cat apprentices are chosen by a sign from the Place of Many Stars. Every cat is eligible, even if they’re training as a warrior apprentice or are currently a warrior.

Medicine cats do not need permission from a leader to heal a cat. This is up to their own discretion.

All cats must learn basic medicinal practices in case an emergency comes up and a medicine cat is not present.

Kits must stay in camp until apprenticeship, and are not allowed to hunt. Parents may take their kits on short walks through the territory provided the leader and medicine cats approve it, and a warrior accompanies them.

The safety of the Clan as a whole is more important than the safety of one cat. However, one cat should not be selected as a sacrifice under any means.

Clans must not unite together to drive out another Clan.

Clans must not force another Clan to share territory.

Cats cannot eat before going to the Moonstone/Moonpool to speak with StarClan.

Any cat to harm a medicine cat, in battle or in peace, will be punished severely. It is punishable by exile or death. If the medicine cat has proven to be malicious, a cat can take them down provided they have evidence of malicious intent.

The leader should be the last cat to eat from the fresh-kill pile in times of a prey shortage.

If a couple wishes to have kits which they cannot produce together, they are permitted to find a loner or rogue, or even a willing Clanmate, to sire or carry the kits for them. The kits will not be taught to consider this cat as their parent unless the mates and sire/dam agree to it.

Cats must wait until they are a fully trained warrior to take on a mate. This is the rule for all parties involved. Any fully grown cat caught in a relationship with or romancing an apprentice or younger will be severely punished, and possibly exiled.

If one of the rules of the Warrior Code do not consider an angle that is currently providing an issue, medicine cats and leaders may discuss to find a good outcome. However, acknowledgement of this outcome must occur at the next Gathering, so that other Clans can receive guidance if they face a similar issue.

Okay so I realized halfway through the second list that the numbers were messed up, so Ill just do comments for the third section down here. 

I like having a section of rules or even a code which pertains to medicine cats. In my own clans they do have their own code, which includes aspects of like the Hippocratic oath and such, but these rules outline most of the things that are smart to touch on. 

I really like that all cats have basic first aid knowledge! In the past I’ve thought that it would be a good precursor to apprenticeship, for older kits to have something to engage them while in camp and waiting for their apprenticeships, it would also help medicine cats to learn which of the younger cats might have an aptitude for medicine at a younger age. 

These are all really good additions that I feel like would cut down on so much of the drama that happens in canon, but make sense to keep a steady peace in and between the clans.

I genuinely think that either my mom is a literal facist or theocratic bitch, either that or she just doesnt understand thw truth of the matter. But either way, i told her that with the mail in ballots it might take them a while to count them and she said that "if they couldnt count them in time then why did they go through with it" and other classics such as "it should be illegal for them to do that, if we (me and her specifically and other commoners i guess) wanted to do that we wouldnt be able to, I dont know if shes under the impression that mail in ballots them selves are just bad, or if they are holding open the door for people who missed the actual election day by still allowing mail in ballots to be turned in after the fact, or if she thinks that counting all of the ballots is bad, or something. I know that last one is true, she's like "it should be illegal for them to still be counting votes after election day has ended" and im like trying to explain but its just sinking in, I'm convinced she thinks that them counting ballots that came in before election day ends after election day and has it confused with them still letting ballots come in.

She also thinks that "stupid people shouldnt vote" but because i was in there spitting facts to the best of my abilities, she also added on "but also smarty pants who think theyre smart but their not smart spiritually"
