I actually came up with this meme as a silly joke years ago, but upon thinking about it, there really ARE startling similarities between the plot of Chainsaw Man and Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Like these are extremely specific plot points that are being shared and they both came out at around the same time. Obviously I'm not accusing one of stealing from the other but this is an extremely interesting coincidence.

Woah, this one blew up since I first saw it, very interesting.
I thought sealioning was our thing, but Fewix (emblemxeno) decided to toss in his two cents. Badly, as is his won't, but oh well.
First, starting with something Fewix said:
Rhea's a genocide survivor and the "evil red lady" in question was grave robbing her dead family's tombs
As usual, Edelgard had no way of knowing Crest Stones are the body parts of Rhea's dead kin. Thanks to Rhea herself. From Edelgard's perspective, she was raiding a weapons cache hidden within a tomb, rather like how Rhea hid a Relic in her own casket. You can't desecrate a site that's already been desecrated.
and has been complicit in most of the tragedies and dangers that have befallen garreg mach during that year. Rhea should've done more batshit things actually.
She threatened to kill Byleth in an exceptional vicious and traumatic way, my dude. The death she prescribed for Byleth was brutality that would be right out of The Witcher.
We generally frown upon paying evil unto evil.
Also the devs said that Rhea's a cat lover which is why there's animals througout the monastery and there was a plan for her private quarters to be filled with cats/materials that cats love
No, she was planned to be an animal lover, but that got cut from the finished product.
Tumblr media
Also nice to hear Rhea's swanky living space was also going to have a private bathroom. I wonder if it had proper plumping, too?
From Diaphin:
being a genocide survivor doesn't entitle her to hold an entire Continent of people hostage due to the notion of her own racial superiority based on her own ancestry. Especially after she chose to already activeöy reward the benefactors of said genocide.
I'm not quite sure I'd call it hostage, but Rhea definitely did believe humans weren't fit to govern their own affairs. The whole point of the Church of Seiros was to maintain order as a holding pattern until Rhea could bring Sothis back to life to continue ruling the land.
And funnily enough…isn't she a heretic to her own religion in CF? In CF, Edelgard gets crowned with Sothis living Vessel and chosen successor as her witness, who protects her from Rheas judgement in an act of divine Intervention. Rhea loses all authority as archbishop of Sothis the second she doesn't accepts Byleths judgement. According to the Central Churches own teachings, everything Edelgard does in CF is right.
Heheh, and I take full advantage of that in my fanfic, On Black Wings. Byleth grants Edelgard a lot of legitimacy in the eyes of the faithful thanks to Rhea spreading word of her divine status before the Holy Tomb.
But yes, basically all of that. It's actually a shame 3H proper doesn't go further with those implications. Yet another issue of project bloat due to having too many routes. Diaphin and I are in agreement it should've just been Crimson Flower and Azure Moon.
From Fewix:
-"Hold hostage" Incorrect that she's holding anything or anyone hostage, when two of the three sovereign nations remain without strict influence from the church in the current era.
Rhea and Seteth don't seem to have gotten the message.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you're referring to tech advancement, there are in-game signs that she has voluntarily let her influence on such restrictions wane (autopsy, advanced crest tech, mass book printing, etc.).
Aight, so I made a big rant on this one, but I don't give a shit if Rhea later relaxed her bans. She does not have the right to decide how quickly society develops. It happens as it will happen, and it's not for her decide how quickly is too quickly. That more than anything else is a sign of her arrogant certainty that humans can't govern their own affairs. It'd be one thing if she only restrained weapons development, but medical advancements and book-making? Nah, she can fuck right off with that. She's got blood on her hands with just those two restraints, to say nothing of all the others there might have been.
-"reward benefactors of genocide" Rhea killed the ten elites and spared their children because children don't deserve to be punished for the wrongdoings of their parents
Everything up until that is above board (if a bit uncharacteristic of her). It's galling that Rhea chose to allow mankind (and by mankind I mean Faerghus and Leicester) to continue to benefit from their horrific deeds by giving them the Relics when they proved useful to her. She should have sealed the Relics away in the Holy Tomb and never took them back out. Allowing her slaughtered kin to be used as tools of enforcement of the church, Faerghus, and Leicester's hegemony is a disgrace to them.
-"Isn't Rhea a heretic" Nope, because 3H's theological narrative is ultimately to discredit the Divine Right of Kings ("god said it therefore I'm right") and to prop up Mandate of Heaven ("may the ruler be virtuous lest he be overthrown by the people") instead. Rhea's not a ruler of a nation so she can't be overthrown out of her own church, Dimitri is falsely sentenced by the agarthans and traitorous nobles (not the common folk), and Claude isn't ever overthrown either. Edelgard is the only one who can get overthrown by her own subjects in-game, and even in her own route's epilogue there is mention of revolts that Hubert's Secret Police puts down.
Holy shit, that's a non-sequitor stacked with using semantics as a defense. If you're still confused, Seteth said Rhea committed a huge taboo trying to bring Sothis back from the dead. Trying to bring anyone back from the dead is typically the action of a villain in this series.
Edelgard is the only one who can get overthrown by her own subjects in-game
Most of them being,
traitorous nobles (not the common folk)
and even in her own route's epilogue there is mention of revolts that Hubert's Secret Police puts down.
Don't look now, Fewix:
To foster trust, Claude frequently sent Balthus into Fódlan on missions to help quell revolts begun by Imperial loyalists.
Byleth needs foreign help to maintain their throne? Guess they lost the Mandate of Heaven, too.
Also, you got that nonsense on Divine Right of Kings and the Mandate of Heaven from Fantasy Invader, who I consider an anti-source: if he says it, it's probably false.
Also Sothis' crest stone disappears and Byleth's hair turns back to blue, so no, even by your reading, you're still wrong since Sothis took her divine right away after her daughter was killed
Yeah, you're definitely using fucking Fantasy Invader as a source, ye gods.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, Sothis definitely hated Byleth and wanted to punish them.
Diaphin went on for a bit, but I was more interested in smacking Fewix around a bit, so I'll leave it at that. Merry Christmas, everyone!
I think one of the funniest arguments I've seen in FE Twitter for why Nabateans should be ruling and hold authority over the inferior race is probably how their age and lived experience makes them most fit to rule when the US just went over the issue of its running candidates for leadership becoming increasingly old.
Like yeah, there are old people who through lived experiences and age have gained alot of insights and wisdom, but then there is also your insane grandpa who is angry at kids day and age playing with their Minecrafts instead of working in the mines from 4am to 10pm.
Rhea is a person who gets so insanely angry over her science fair necromancy experiment siding with the evil red lady and her now losing the war, that against every offer to surrender or resolve this war with her dignity and life intact, she instead has the biggest german kid temper tantrum in gaming history and orders to burn an entire civilian city she and her remaining troops currently inhabit and which gave them refuge for 5 years. I wouldn't trust Rhea to take care of my cat without burning the town I live in to the ground because he wouldn't let her pet him.

Note
Just going to give my two cents: even if we want to entertain the idea that Sothis and the Nabateans are not what they seem, she still restored the land after the war and used almost all her power to do so instead of letting it rot. In addition, she and the Nabateans decided to stay in Zanado and live in peace. If she really was a "colonizer", she and the Nabateans would've occupied all of Fodlan after the war and establish territories. (cont)
Plus humans engaging in wars after gaining new technologies and having its power go to their head while blaming a higher being for their problems is quite realistic given a couple irl examples. Combine that with their hammy obviously evil behavior and delivery and the fact that they show disregard for any life along with committing genocide on an entire race instead of killing the one higher being, I can't really take this take seriously. (cont)
Not to make a full irl comparison but it's like saying a nationalist extremist group against immigrants are the good guys/right. No, it's xenophobic and racist. /end
I mean, I don't really have anything to add.
The truth is is that the developers aren't interested in engaging on this conflict in a meaningful way. It's fluff, a foundation for the real story they actually care about- Edelgard's war. It doesn't matter if Sothis or if the Slithers had a point, because that's not what the story is about. It's about Edelgard, it's about Byleth, and it's about a continental war of conquest.
Which is a shame because I do happen to think the past is very interesting. I think there is a lot of potential there for something very good. But it's hard to take it seriously when the game itself just doesn't care. Heck, Rhea is supposed to be a major player in all this and most of the time she is relegated to an occasional NPC you see from time to time. Sothis never gets to have legitimate input or agency, and is instead neutered because she would have too much revealing information and the devs want to keep everything a mystery.
And further still, depending on which game you play tells you a different tale of Edelgard's war. Houses sees Edelgard is an antagonist, the Red Emperor who takes the path of 'hadou'. Hopes, however, sees Edelgard as someone uniting the world.
Thankfully, I don't think the devs truly see the Slithers as the good guys in any capacity. They made sure to make Shez's brain goblin a distinct person from Epimenides, so Arval is 'good' and the soul of the other guy is still 'bad'. Hopes was a chance to give the Slithers some sort of platform to showcase their cause, if they wanted to at all. They just doubled down instead.

Cindered shadows Reaction
tl;dr - Fodlan is a crapsack world and I want to strangle Rhea (or break Amyr on her again). Yuri is a very good contrast to the others and a cool addition to the ‘verse  for all that he is basically Joker XD
I took live notes while playing
One thing to take note of here is the house leader’s “canonical” classes (Fortress Knight/Warrior, Hero/Paladin, Assasin/Wyvern ride, though some of those assume the budding talents to be unlocked already) as well as just more of a look into what their dynamic is when they’re together - as such well-contrasting characters I always thought it was a shame that they didn’t interact more so I’m glad for this
Edelgard is always somewhat standoffish/ closed off and generally the ‘logical’, least personable one, Claude is surface-level friends with both. Dimitri would like to think they are full-on BFF, calls Claude “my friend”, defends him etc. Claude’s friendship with Edelgard is very banter-driven, but there (the bit where she says “wow this trap could have been your idea” and hes flattered). Of course both of these carry over into their post-timeskip interactions especially when they part on good terms (Dimitri always does, and Edelgard easily can part with him on good terms, but Claude, though he doesn’t like the thought of them dying,  wouldn’t take risks on either them) - and of course it’s Claude who proposes the feast after the mock battle where they all eat together. Edelgard and Dimitri were never friendly (at least not during the academy), but at this point they’re civil.
Claudes Dialogues are BRILLIANT like he really shines in this one (Edelgard probably gets the least exposure but all of this is set before the reveal, so she has to keep her cards close to her chest - Or maybe there just cant ever be enough Edelgard for me lets be honest)
First impression of the Ashen Wolves is that they’re all very dramatic with a lot of bluster (Hapi being the contrasting exception but over-the-top in concept) - they have really been the Kings of their own little world, having a lot of free reign underground, accountable to few and throwing down for the heck of it
So it’s Yuri Leclerc and he was adopted by a Kingdom noble, the same Gwendal and Lonato served  and who dies if Arianrhod is blasted, but it seems like unlike wish Ashe who was taken into the family this was just a temporary gig for him
That makes him a commoner, which by itself is a big difference from the other three. Dimitri is and always was the crown prince whereas Edelgard suddenly ascended the sucession list due to tragedy and Claude has a much doubted claim on both sides of the border
I suspected he was going to be from the kingdom as we already had the Alliance, the Empire and the token Foreigner accounted for - also ‘Yuri’ is a slavic name like ‘Dimitri’ - though being adopted he isn’t necessarily from there
(Later we learn that he was in fact born in a village in the Kingdom)
Also liked the callback to count Gloucester’s sheming and how he had Balthus spy on Claude
They do go through some work to flesh out Abyss and make it feel lived in as a sort of society.
Just look at that very very makeshift classroom. Few down there were getting any sort of education before Aelfric set this up
They do something clever here where Balthus tells you part of why he’s wanted, prompting the question of everyone else’s stories
This idea of a wretched hive beneath the Church reminds me of Amsterdam where the big church was in the prostitutes’ quarter and they actually had flourishing trade agreements going on
But as a hiding place for outcasts it shows us all the uglyness about fodlan and how much persecution/ need for change there really is (Really wants me to play Crimson Flower again. Or Verdant Wind.)
There’s people “chewed up by the Nobility”
Duscurians and Almyrans
Many in the church want the place “purged”, Rhea wouldnt go so far but is at the very least unsympathetic
Tons of Banned Books (is this where Seteth puuts them?) Claude and Linhardt have a field day over it
That poor woman (probably Dagdan since she talks of a war) who was persecuted for believing in other religions (which was a thing under Rhea - I’ve been saying it, Shamir and Cyril are “allowed” because they work for Rhea which to her is the same as believing, both are “working for her family/ for us instead of against us” because Sothis is not just her god but someone she knows personally)
Yuri and his trouble are a sort of quasi-police or keeping order, reporting to Aelfric. As his second in command Yuri is a sort of “prince” and already lead his own bandit troupe, or perhaps more a chieftain than a prince, he’s a leader, an authority but not an inherited one but 100% selfmade, he comes from nothing - People call him “boss”,
One wonders if he already dressed in this noncomforming manner before comming to the abyss
He is very very self-reliant, decides and opines for himself, gives Byleth backtalk, very much a natural leader who owns his influence entirely to that natural-leader ness
Byleth asks very good, very direct questions
Hilda, Linny and Ashe are here because of their connection to the Abyss characters and the information they can provide - Ashe knows Yuri, Linny knows his book lore, Hilda heard rumors from Holst...
Here we get to appreciate why Claude keeps Hilda around she knows all the gossip, all the ‘local’ information that Claude doesn’t have, she’s an excellent info source
Lets appreciate that it was those three specifically because they were slacking off
Ppl say there the church scorns them pretty much I like how they’re no longer even pretending that the church is nice
The four MCs, meanwhile, might all have ended up here in a different life; If El had escaped the experiments she could’ve been like Hapi, Claude was already an outcast, Jeralt fled with Byleth as a refuge(or could have been sent there as a mercenary to torment the locals and then decided to stay there instead), maybe not young!Dimitri, but timesskip Dimitri was outright a vagabond and says in his lecture questions that he travelled many places and temporarily lived in slums he didn’t go full murdery until a few years in, as Gilbert recounts
AU where they all grew up  or met in the Abyss is what im saying, and the four MCs and Yuri team up. The slitherers still stir up war, perhaps Duke Aegir or Arundel made themselves Emperor etc.
Characteristically, Dimitri really likes the idea of a secret haven for the outcasts (see all his dialogues about “acceptance” and general ‘help-the-orphans’ thing) - but also characteristically he’s a bit of a tool for the status quo- “Claude don’t be rude this guy is giving out charity~” but the issues Dimtri the issues they shouldn’t need to hide anyways and this is why I prefer the ‘revolutionary’ routes (CF and VW) - though to his credit Dimitri does do charity and stop ppl being poor when he’s king.
Claude is absolutely having a field day, this is right in the way of his “Political program” - “What you’re helping the poor and downtrodden by barely tolerating them in a sunless hole where they have to hope the church doesn’t decide to purge them” They basically live in ever present danger
Bit sad that they had Edelgard “tied up” catching up with Constanze rather than stating a reaction to the abyss as a whole though it’s probably very deliberate that she keeps her cards close to her chest - As constance asks “What is the princess doing here?” - investigating that’s what. She mostly asks questions or voices conclusions - shes certainly also investigating for her own purposes
But of course Dimitri and Ashe, pure as always, immediately want to help the locals
Edelgard meanwhile is thinking strategy, talking of capturing and interrogating the enemy
Of Yuri ppl tell you both that he’s a real scoundrel/ “our scoundrel” - he loooks out for them so they obey him, “when I say jump they jump” - a Mafia leader of sorts. He’s like Claude in the ‘motivating ppl through taking care of their interest’ parts but claude’s alliances are looser and no one does “jump” like Yuri projects authority, its not quite the honor loyalty Dimitri inspired because he “pays”, Edelgard projects authority but it’s loyalty to the cause more than personal loyalty, and she’s an ideologue and inspires the same in her followers theres no “pay” from Edelgard. She warns you that you might die and that’s it. She is the same herself.
I think Yuri would die for another the way that Claude and Edelgard would not, like when Aelfric got his mom putting her in danger was never an option. I don’t think you could pressure Edelgard with a hostage, she’d just be like “Hostage-kun, I won’t let your death be in vain” and then tell their captors to screw themselves.
He has things in common with all the others - he has a certain honor and a people-driven leadership style like Dimitri (rather than ideals-driven like Edelgard, Claude and Seteth) - though unlike Dimitri his honor is only for the “in” group, he cares about protecting his turf, his people... and nothing else. Thus he doesn’t fit into the revolutionary (Edelgard, Claude) vs restorer (Dimitri, Seteth) dichotomy because he’s not concerned with the system as a whole - he doesn’t like it or have faith in it, but he will absolutely work with it when it suits his aims (such as when he makes his own alliance with the church behind Aelfric’s back, or just working with Aelfric in the first place)
This alliance is probably also supposed to give a reason why the Wolves would sttick with the church later (though Hapi’s non CF supports talk alot about reforming the crap institution that it is) even though they mostly have reason to dislike them
Like Edelgard he is calculating and ruthless more than Dimitri or Claude. (He laughts at peeps who fell in his trap) But you couldn’t see Yuri sacrificing an ally like Edelgard does (like with Dimitri the people come before the plan) and Yuri often markedly does NOT tell allies what they’re getting into while El makes a big point of telling everyone the risks and allowing them the chance to step out
In a way he’s Claude with a edge but without the big vision. Yuri is the most small-picture, Claude the most big-picture of the lords
They also have a different relationship with trust - some describe Yuri as “devoted to his own but too trusting” , he says it’s a choice... but he is never really fooled, just pretending to be, he solves a great part of his plot on his own.
Like Claude and Seteth he prefers to play it safe/ know he can win (though Claude and Yuri arent against calculated risks) whereas Edelgard and Dimitri will do what they think is right with no guarantee of victory and don’t care much if it kills them or their followers
Otherwise tho they have a lot in common and are fast friends XD Yuri makes some great observations “Wow look at you three trying to suss out each other’s motivations must be exhausted”
“Doesnt take a title to have an agenda“ - Yuri and Claude are really... a “takes one to know one” situation
Claude tells us they generally get along tho (”Any misunderstanding might spark a war... ”... yeah)
Likewise, Yuri immediately gets that Claude’s friendliness is esentially “maintaining neutrality” more than actual allegiance
Yuri also seems relatively forward in romantic matters which is unlike the others lol
Remember how I was frantic for Claude/Linhardt or Claude/Hubert friendship content? Here’s another great team that ought to have interacted more, I could even see them working romantically assuming that Claude would be so inclined.
Hapi/Sylvain, too! Because they’re both cynics
But despite her cynism Hapi is also characterized as considerate
Yuri likes board games! hes in the board game squad with Hubert, Claude, Sylvain and Edelgard. The Board Game squad is incidentally the Best Characters club
He’s not big picture and only develops something like that toward the end of his support chain (to fight poverty)
So in a sense his style and the hole in it is more like Byleth’s own - he learnt practical leadership in the field and applies it for those he likes. He’s more self-directed
aaand more undercover fun
It seems that both the slitherers and Alferic were after the Chalice at the same time - the Death Knight’s presence hints at it, Metodey’s confirms it. So far I’d assumed he was one of Edelgard’s loyalists like Ladislava but it seems he works directly for Arundel, Edelgard is not too friendly with him and accuses him of “Disrespecting her house”
Since Aegir was in power during the Bridgid and Dagda war, the slitherers could definitely have had something to do with how Constance’s family was treated, if they were onto her secret - I don’t see how Aelfric could have done it
Bold of El to order Jeritza away in broad daylight. At this point she’s probably come to accept that no orders are gonna keep him from Fiting PPl where he can, especially her she is a very tough opponent
I trusted Aelfric until he spoke. The voice is... its not a good guy voice. Same with how the eyes are drawn
then he called people “his flock”
“They are charitable only when it suits them”
“they have eyes and ears everywhere”
Yeah. I’ve always said that Rhea is like one of those millionaires who give their pocket change to charity but then support policies that keep people poor. Hopefully no one will keep arguing that she cares about the poor or the disenfranchised.
“Her grace thinks its a nuisance”- This tells us alot. Alfric had to convince Rhea to give half a rats ass about the poor but still speaks of her with honorifics. That’s the crack in his soul right there
I also love how Yuri protests whenever anyone - the church etc make plans for him, hes very self-governed
Hapi, Lysithea, El and Byleth should have a “victims of human experimentation” support group
Alternatively, Cursed People support group with Hapi, Marianne, Bernadetta and Dimitri
I like the C supports with Byleth and Balthus as well as Hapi because they tell us not just about them but about Byleth - Both adress Byleth’s go-with-the-flow tendencies and lack of own direction, though Byleth makes clear that by this point they actually like the professor gig
“I could see this person just about anywhere”...in a bad way. Oh but Hapi you too can be recruited to all routes XD No she’s right. By-By is being used and she should tell them.
MORE PARENTS LORE I rejoiced so much and this was such a cool thing to adress here
At first it seems that Rhea was also after the chalice but turns out she had written it off and the one pursuing it within the church was Aelfric
But you all do catch the implication that she did this all before and “great tragedy” resulted? Right? You get what that means?
For once she actually noticed a mole though Aelfric likely wasn’t subtle
It results in a zombie dragon because she meant to revive a dragon not a human
By now people should really be used to Rhea handing out legendary treasure to byleth
there are friendly reminders of the western church purge still going on
I like how constance smells a spy right away
Also the contrast between Hapi’s jaded “Lets just give them the thing so they leave us in peace” (Yes, Lapis Lazuli) and Constance’s “We can’t let them have the artifact! theyre bad” - Constance might be shrill but she’s a person of action
The sunlight thing is a tad over the top/unrealistic but it’s not per se the cliched split personality thing, more like going outside brings out the bad memories after hiding away underground for so long (she tells mercedes as much) while she otherwise covers it with bluster. Her parents and older brother were killed and her hometown destroyed, after all. She is still basically talking the same overdramatic/ formal way
Perhaps two sides of nobility like the pride but also the demure good breeding n shit, there is some forced quality to the bluster even indoors
But ultimately she’s pretty hard working and determined underneath
At one point Hilda says something like, “You sure that we should interfere? I don’t want to make anything worse it might be better to stay out” - This right here is why you can’t get CF Hilda
Further Hilda facts: She had countless suitors and knows her way around “magical doo daads” and fortune telling
Having her mildly superstitious is of course a fun contrast to claude
“Compared to you even Hubert looks like a spring chicken” lol
I was going “Linny I love you” the whole time
Speaking of love... The moment I decided I loved Yuri is when I learned why he was expulsed - because the church sent him to kill someone he knew and rather than be upset, or thing how he might change society to prevent it or draw other conclusions from it... He refused on the spot and fough church ppl. That’s when I saw how he fits with the other characters. What the contrast was.
Yuri is one of those rare types who would never give the full voltage in the milgram experiment
Because see? That ties back so well into the themes
One of the main scenes that contrasts the house leaders is their reaction over having to fight Lonato. They all sympathize to a degree, but none acts against it. Claude and Edelgard show their dislike of the church and want to stop crap like this, but right there right then, they play along for the sake of their plans. (Claude’s plan at this point still involves stealing relics)
Dimitri is the closest to Yuri in that he immediately regrets it massively and says they should have found another way (in part because he is against the notion of “sacrifices for the plan”) but this realization comes to him only after all is done because ultimately he follows authority/ sees some good in it and the status quo
Yuri,  meanwhile, flat out refused. Yeah he also killed whoever the knight escord was but he refused
Also let this sink in: Yuri was slated for execution because he refused to kill someone he knew. This is what might have happened to Ashe, Sylvain etc. if they had refused to fight Lonato or Miklan.
Aelfric arranged for him to fight someone he knew but that’s all he did, the rest is the result of normal church policy and then begged for pardon (meaning the normal policy would be to kill him) The mission might have gone to a different house, but the church constantly makes ppl fight ppl they know. You realize just how easily all our beloved characters could have ended up just like Yuri?!
I loved how, when offered info about their parents, Byleth immediately seeks it out with no delay
“Never discard a wild hunch lol“ Claude I love you Linhard I love you
Generally we see Dimitri being the local people person and catching onto details about people’s emotions and dispositions , while Edelgard is like, “Investigate this, investigate that” (i love that about her), and Claude is the oddball/curveball and follows his intuition. Yuri goes on instinct, Seteth, if I had to say, on experience perhaps, certainly caution.
So she doesn’t even recognize Dimitri. She did say that “she can’t say the name” so she probably never learned that her little friend was the prince. Can ppl stop acting like she snubbed Dimitri or like she has any reason to treat him like a brother?
I don’t think he pieced it together until the ball, and she only realized either during the parlay (AM) or some time before their final confrontation (She distinctly knows by the time she killed him)
Another poignant moment is when she basically didn’t trst Aelfric and only started considering that he might be good by the time Team Slither showed up. Yeah she’s not trusting and would have zero base assumptions that any church ppl are good
By the time she learns about the Nuvelle crest she’s so done like, “Are there any MORE conspiracies I should be aware of?” And indeed there are
Aelfric is sort of a consequence of Rhea’s coverup certainly not an 1D villain. He started doubting her after the coverup began semi thinking for himself and at first this led him to try and make the abyss less chaotic and speak in their favor before Rhea, but then when Sitri’s body fell into his hands he was just too tempted
And UGH remember when I said that for all that im not a Rhea fan, i don’t thnk the human experimentation was so bad because she didn’t harm anyone and it seems like the homunculi lived out normal lives? yeah i take that back
Even if Sitri wasn’t healthy enough to travel she didn’t need to be completely isolated exept for trusted church peeps
This would have happened to Byleth. You see how this would have happened to Byleth? Completely isolated and controlled?
Oh Jeralt jeralt baby you were so right to flee with Byleth so right
Worse because Rhea was a parental figure
Also she kept creating more homunculi though they turn out frail and basically live miserable lives
and the first attempt with the chalice probably did kill ppl
sitting with the corpse all the time is creepy too
doest that mean Byleth won’t rot either?
So she was a book worm - Jeralt did say she was brainy
It did start as a mentor crush, much like Byleth’s own relationship might
I love how Edelgard is all subtly concerned after Yuris fake attack
I wonder how that apology line was phrased in Japanese, “useless” seems a bit harsh given that Edelgard generally seems to love her father, but there is no denying that he lost control of his empire and that as a result villains wrecked havock all over it so there’s nothing better she can say there excuses wont help constances situation
Like this must be very hard for her
Constance’s support definitely confirms that it was the Seven Families/ ie the PM and Arundel who did this to her (also lol at the concept that she basically wants to make Byleth her very own Hubert or Gilbert)
Edelgard is saddled with all this stuff from the previous administration - I mean so is Dimitri with the instability, the recent anexation of Duscur and part of Sreng... but she gets confronted with it more, iDK if it’s common knowledge who’s really in charge
Because Yuri is concerned with his turf, not the world, it makes sense that “his” route would be the sidestory. I kind of wanted a part 2 in the sense that I like this cast and want more of him as a main character but I also get why there isn’t one... because he wins no matter what. Lucky seven! He’s the one who can’t lose (except if you dont do the sidestory I guess) ”He works with whoever’s in power to maintain his own, just like when he made the deal with Rhea. He gets all three house leaders and Byleth to promise that they will look out for the Abyss so his bases are covered no matter who wins.
- even so he basically solved his own problem and Byleth’s presence just kinda gave him the opportunity . Well, one defining factor is that they trust Byleth exactly because they don’t “seem like a typical church funky
Still since Rhea tells us the backstory here what use is the silver snow ending? I suppose she doesn’t mention the homunculus/ “I created you” bit but the lack of decay and the transplanting heart bits do sort of hint at it
Certainly a contrast tho, like in SS you learn the magicky parts us in CS you get way more about who mommy actually was as a person
Poor, Poor Byleth. This must be such a mindfrick for them. Like I had so many feels for By-By
It’s so weird to go back and have the Yuri & so present throughout the monastery, but  not know us yet

Stone Cold Slumber
Relationship: Claude/F!Byleth Rated T
Word Count: 3905
During the battle for Garreg Mach in 1181, things begin to look dark for Byleth and her students.
Begging the goddess within her for the power to defeat the approaching Empire army, Byleth decides she must do whatever it takes to protect the Monastery.
No matter the cost.
Read it on Ao3!
The students and professor of the Golden Deer House barely got a moment of reprieve before their lives were thrust back into the chaos of war.
The Flame Emperor, or in actuality, Edelgard, managed to escape their grasp in their last battle, and now?
“The Imperial Army is marching on Garreg Mach.”
That’s what Shamir had stated in her report, and now both Professor and House Leader rushed through the winding halls of the monastery and spreading the word to all of those they came across. Lady Rhea had already mobilized the knights who prepared for an all-out attack from the Empire.
How could Edelgard do this?
Byleth couldn't say she was all too close with the leader of House Black Eagles, being the professor for a different class, but for her to be plotting an entire uprising against the church? She never could have seen it coming.
---
The afternoon sun stung her eyes as they emerged from the ornately carved wooden doors into an all-out war.
The Knights of Seiros clashed with Imperial soldiers in a bloody massacre in the field before Fódlan’s most sacred location. Battle cries amalgamated with the dying screams of friend and foe alike into a chorus of absolute despair and anarchy.
“Teach?” The usual strong and flamboyant voice of House Leader Claude suddenly sounded subdued and worried, but when Byleth turned to face him she found nothing but bravery in those emerald green eyes.
“We’re ready.”
The members of the Golden Deer house stood before her with weapons at the ready, not showing any signs of fatigue or injury from the earlier battle. Byleth’s heart swelled with pride at the sight. This group of rather bratty teenagers she had been roped into teaching had by now felt like a family to her. The only family she had left.
“Hey, Byleth.” Claude grabbed her wrist as the others marched down the long stairs to the battle below. The use of her actual name was an uncommon occurrence with Claude, who preferred to call her “Teach” rather than “Professor” but never really broke the formality completely but using her name. The only other time she could recall him saying it was the day they met and when he came to console her after her father’s murder.
“I’ve got your back, just like always.”
“Try not to die out there.” She tried to jest, hoping to see him crack a smile as is might be the last time she gets to see it.
“No promises.”
Byleth gave him a steely glare as he shrugged, flashing her a small smile as they charged onward to join the fight.
---
The young woman shouted orders across the battlefield to her comrades as they clashed with Imperial forces. Swords were swung and spells flung as crimson blood stained the thick green grass.
Byleth ducked just in time to avoid a javelin, the flying metal spear grazing past her shoulder, missing her throat by an inch and slicing her already ragged hair.
The pale green locks that drifted to the ground were still of foreign sight to her, unused to the light pigment instead of the dark blue she had inherited from her mother. The thought of it made her feel like a part of her had been erased. The blue of her hair and eyes had matched that of the deep sea, a stark contrast to her father’s blond hair and reddish-brown eyes. The sight of her reflection was the only thing she had of the mother she had never known, but since completely merging with Sothis, her own reflection of green eyes and hair seemed like a stranger was staring back at her.
Would father even recognize me like this?
Just thinking about him was too much of a distraction for her current situation. Byleth plunged her sword through the chest of an archer who had been taking aim at Marianne, the man let out a gurgled cry as he fell limp on her blade.
A deep and guttural battle cry came from her left before she had the chance to dislodge her weapon.
An arrow sunk into the temple of the oncoming soldier sending him crumpling to the ground before he had a chance to bring his axe down upon her.
“And to think, you were the one telling me not to die!” Claude chimed as he retrieved his arrow from the man’s head.
“Check it out, over there.”
Byleth turned to see what the brunet was pointing at.
Across the field, a familiar platinum-blonde stood staring them down as the chaos ensured around them. Her violet eyes held no sign of mercy as she gripped her axe tightly as if beckoning them forward for a battle.
Edelgard.
“Call off your army!” Byleth shouted to the young Emperor in what she knew was a futile attempt at stopping the continuation of this tragedy.
“This is an act of war!”
“Then it is war I declare.” The woman stood her ground.
“War against the Church of Seiros and your false goddess.”
“What happened to you, Edelgard?” Claude begged his former friend, those emerald eyes full of betrayal and disbelief.
“What do you hope to obtain by plunging all of Fódlan into anarchy?”
“The same thing you wanted, Claude, though perhaps a more realistic version.” The ice in her eyes clearly spread all the way to her heart.
“I want to unite Fódlan into one nation as it was before, under the rule of the Empire.”
She’s gone mad!
Byleth could hardly believe what she was hearing. Edelgard, The Flame Emperor, had been plotting against the Archbishop this entire year.
Professor Jeritza… Tomas… Monica… All of her accomplices who had been a part of the horrible occurrences across Fódlan as of late.
Monica.
Byleth felt a rage grow within the wound in her heart as she wondered how much Edelgard had to do with the murder of her father. Whether or not it was by the new Emperor’s design, Byleth would make her pay.
Before Byleth had a chance to test her blade’s sharpness against her foe’s throat an enraged voice roared across the battlefield with a strength that shook the earth beneath them. A dragon larger than any of the demonic beasts soared from the monastery’s cliff, unleashing a powerful blast of energy of its jaws that levelled any foe in its path.
“Get down!” Claude tackled his professor into the dirt as the massive beast’s fury missed them by mere meters.
What the hell was that thing?
“You alright?” He asked as they both picked themselves up.
“Wait, where’s Edelgard?”
The Emperor was nowhere to be seen among the fray, whether she got away or was eviscerated, it was impossible to tell, but Byleth coped for the latter.
The professor frantically looked around for the rest of her students. The beast didn’t seem to care who it exactly took out in its rage, hundreds of soldiers scattered around all burnt to a crisp or incinerated entirely.
A familiar yelp sounded not too far off as she saw the pink pigtails of Hilda swirl around as she swung her axe down on any soldier who dared come her way. As strong as she was, she was vastly outnumbered.
“Claude, go help Hilda, I have to go after Edelgard.” She didn’t want to split from him, but ensuring Edelgard’s demise would end the war here and now.
“I’ll be fine, just go.”
Claude grabbed her hand and squeezed it tight, eyeing the Golden Deer bracelet clasped around her wrist. A good luck charm. He had called it when he gifted it to her on her birthday during the last Horsebow Moon.
“You’ll be fine as long as you’ve got this thing with you.” He smirked before pulling an arrow from his quiver and racing to assist his classmate.
Although she figured having The Sword of the Creator at her side would give her the best odds of winning, but luck was definitely needed here.
As the winged beast swooped in for another attack, the wails of demonic beast pierced the air as they pounced on it, knocking it from the sky.
She gripped her sword tightly and began to charge just as time suddenly froze.
It was a reflex she had developed that had saved her life a few times in recent battles, letting out a Divine Pulse at the first sign of critical injury. Her ears rung with the searing pain of the axe lodged a few inches into her back. She hated using her power on herself. Such an invaluable but limited ability was best used to save lives other than her own. Though Byleth kicked herself for her carelessness, she felt this axe belonged to the one she had been searching for. Byleth reached somewhere within her soul, willing the hands of time to tick backwards as she found herself just a few moments into the past.
A few moments was all she needed to see the great dragon fall again as she whipped around, using her blade to knock away the axe thrown in her direction. Byleth’s pale green eyes stared down Edelgard as she smirked at her own failed attack.
“How are you just impossible to sneak up on?” Frustration crept into the young Emperor’s voice.
“Who do you fight for the church? Join me and we can rid Fódlan of that evil witch.”
It was hard for Byleth to completely say she was fighting for the Church of Seiros. Religion had nothing to do with simply doing the right thing. The monastery was the first real home she had ever known. Her mother and father both rested there. Not to mention the bonds she’d made with the kids she taught were irreplaceable. The Archbishop be damned Byleth had her own reasons to fight. There wasn’t a chance that Byleth would give this up for a megalomaniacal warlord.
“I’d die before I’d join your cause.” Byleth hissed as she felt the power in her sword grow with her own anticipation.
“Then I guess you must perish.” Edelgard’s tone may have sounded defeated but her army was far from it.
More soldiers poured onto the field, the continuous march of red-painted metal seemed endless. Endlessness outweighing hope as the look on Edelgard’s face told her she knew this victory belonged to the empire.
This couldn’t be how it ends. She had fought through too much to lose now based on sheer numbers.
Sothis...
Sothis told her once their souls had been merged, they would no longer be able to speak to one another, but Byleth hoped the goddess would still be able to hear her.
Sothis, I need your power.
Her desperate plea was met with a sudden feeling she had heard many people describe, but never experienced.
Byleth felt a pounding in her chest.
“The baby that never cried, or laughed, or even had a heartbeat.”
That is what her father’s journal said. Her heart did not beat. Yet this pounding was unmistakable.
The hole in the hilt of her sword glowed a bright red as she felt the power flow through her as if her veins were filled with magma. Byleth shook with the energy, burning flames swirled around her, searing the Crest of Flames into the field around her as she held the Sword of the Creator high into the air.
“What the hell is-” Edelgard didn’t get the chance to finish that thought before Byleth plunged her sword deep into the ground.
The resulting blast incinerated all enemies in its wake. Swirling blasts of fire dancing around the battlefield to the music of Byleth’s will. The ground began to crack around her, forever marking it with her Crest.
Though she could not see every life taken, she could feel them. Every body that came into contact with the flames of her wrath was felt in her very core. She felt their agony, their pain, but none of it mattered. Sothis may have been The Beginning, but for the Imperial Army, Byleth would be The End.
However, The End seemed to have come for more than just her enemies as the power within her began to fade. The yellowish colour of her divine blade began to fade into a dull grey that grew past the sword and began to coat her fingers. The heat of the flames turned into chilling numbness crawling up her arms, encapsulating even her golden bracelet in its colourlessness. The only colour added was the blood dripping onto the hilt from where it gushed from her nose.
Byleth felt her entire body growing stiff and tired. Oh, by the goddess she was tired. Every last fragment of energy was drained, but both her body and mind refused to cooperate enough to even allow her to collapse. As the stone crept across her chest she found herself nearly suffocating.
I’m dying.
Sothis warned her many times about using her powers in excess, but as long as they were safe, Byleth felt she could go in peace.
What happens to someone like her when she dies? Would she be able to see her father again? Would she be able to meet her mother? Sothis would die along with her, so what happens when a goddess dies?
Part of her was afraid to find out.
“Teach!” Through her blurred vision, she could see Claude sprinting towards her with a limp in his right leg and a look of abject horror painted across his features. Injured, but alive. That was good enough.
By the time he approached Byleth could barely feel anything at all. Not the tears running down her face. Not his grip on her shoulders. Hell, when he yells for someone in the distance, she can hardly make out the words.
I’m sorry, Claude.
She wished she could say it out loud, but by the time she finishes the thought, everything she knew had become cold and dark.
---
Claude’shit the soft dirt with a dull thud as he dismounted his wyvern, rubbing his gloved hand across her hard, pearl white scales. The beast let out a mournful trill as if sensing her master’s troubled heart. He paid his mount little mind in that moment, more occupied with the field before him.
It was hard to imagine that five years earlier, this plain was the site of a great battle, unlike anything the monastery had seen in hundreds of years, and at the epicentre of that battle, stood strong an immovable statue.
The surrounding area had been turned into a memorial for the hero of Garreg Mach, Byleth Eisner, who stood in her stony form, the Sword of the Creator still plunged into the soil where she had ended Edelgard’s war as soon as it began.
The final rays of the sunset cast a golden light on the bouquets of violets that laid at her feet and scattered all around. The flowers offered to the Enlightened One for her bravery, loyalty, and sacrifice to the people of the monastery and all of Fódlan for that matter.
Hopefully, she can find some peace among the petals.
Claude’s heart felt as if it would cave in at the sight of his old professor in such a state. The young woman he remembered seemed undefeatable by any enemy, charging headfirst into battle with her signature unnervingly blank expression and quick to throw herself between her students and any foe.
Although she was a professor, the lacking age gap between them always made her feel more like a friend to him.
No.
Friend seemed like the word that should be used to describe her, but it left an odd feeling in his chest like something unfulfilled. Before he wouldn’t have known how to describe how he felt about her, he just knew the agony he felt when she was taken away.
Time was supposed to heal all wounds, but that never really occurred in him. Becoming the leader of the Leicester Alliance proved a decent enough distraction, but it was a lonely role. It was hard for Claude to continue along the path of his ambitions for a unified world when it was a path he walked alone. There was an empty space by his side that only one could ever fill.
That person had no more steps to take, no more words to speak, not even one final smile to bear. Just cold stone and a heavy reminder of what happens when you cross the Church of Seiros.
"Hey, Teach." Claude spoke to the unmoving figure.
“I kept my promise, I came back for the Millenium Festival.”
To think Garreg Mach would never have seen it’s thousandth year without her.
“Sorry I got here so late, the other nobles of the Roundtable just love to debate me over every little thing.” He frowned at the expected absence of a response.
What he wouldn’t give to hear her voice just one more time.
He placed his hand on her wrist, the stone was cold as ice that chilled him down to his bones. His fingers traced the beads of the bracelet he had crafted just for her, now dull in colour and forever fused to her body.
Not so lucky after all.
“I’m sorry.” The young ruler bit his lip as he also bit back tears.
All war is unpredictable from start to finish. You never know which goodbye will be the last. Not that they even got the chance for a proper goodbye.
He couldn’t get over how she looked exactly the same as she did five years ago. Standing in this field, completely untouched by time. While Claude himself had changed quite a bit in the same amount of time.
He was only twenty-three but felt far older. Perhaps that’s what leadership does to someone. Byleth couldn’t have been more than one or two years off of him, but her maturity as both professor and commander was astonishing.
He knew the past would never stop haunting him. From eating together in the dining hall to fighting alongside each other on the battlefield and every day in the library indulging in their shared thirst for knowledge that came in between.
She was the only one who he ever truly confided in. The only one he discussed his ambitions with. A plan for a unified world. She believed it was possible. The woman who could seemingly make anything happen shared his dream to break down Fódlan’s walls and let the outsiders in.
With her gone, it no longer seemed as possible as he originally believed.
As the sun finally set, blanketing them in darkness with only the light of the moon and the stars to light their way in a gleam of silver.
The others were expecting him inside the monastery. He wondered how many of the Golden Deer kept their promises to return on the day of the festival. He tried to turn away but he couldn't pry his eyes from her. He leaned forward, giving her a small peck on her cheek.
“Rest well, By, you’ve earned it.”
The man forced himself to turn away from her, taking a deep lungful of the crisp night air. Over the racket of the crickets, another noise catches his attention. It was quick and small, but something about it made him both curious and anxious.
He turned back to the statue, at first, seeing nothing amiss. Although when Claude took another look at her face, there was something new.
A crack.
Small little cracks spidered out from a point on her cheekbone. Thin and small, but Claude was certain they had not been there just moments earlier. Claude squinted in the dim moonlight, lightly running his thumb over the mysterious cracks.
As if more fragile than the thinnest glass, the feather-light touch caused more cracks to strike out across her face. Claude jerked his hand back in horror, as the cracks continued to spread across her body as if she was about to crumble to pieces.
The original crack in her cheek began to glow with a golden light that quickly spread throughout her body as fragments of stone began to break away, revealing the almost forgotten colours of the past.
And then she moved.
Byleth’s torso dipped forward, still gripping the sword as if using it to keep herself standing.
“Byleth?” Claude reached out to her in disbelief.
She grabbed hold of one of his puffy sleeves, her nails digging into his arm through the fabric. When she finally looked up at him, her eyes were half-lidded and the circles underneath were dark and heavy. Tears began to gather in those eyes as she wordlessly reached up to touch his face. Her thumbs traced his cheekbones as she seemed to both recognize him and not at the same time.
“...Claude?” Her voice was hoarse and quiet.
“Y-Yeah I’m here I’m sorry I just-” Claude couldn’t help but laugh at himself as tears began to spill over.
“God I missed you so much.”
Claude couldn’t stop himself. He leaned forward, pressing his lips to hers. A few seconds passed before he pulled away, finding her green eyes wide open in shock. He expected to be slapped, to be yelled at. Any reaction from her was welcome after her being motionless for the last half of the decade. None of that came though, those eyes of her’s did not hold any anger whatsoever. Byleths eyes once grey and lifeless but once again the colour of the summer grass held only wonder with a touch of confusion.
“You… came back…” The Sword of the Creator fell with a thud just as Byleth’s legs betrayed her, causing her to fall forward into Claude’s arms.
He knelt to the ground, practically cradling her as she rested her head on his shoulder.
“A promise is a promise.” Claude chimes as his tears dripped onto her cheeks.
“You came back too, back from the dead. That’s way more impressive than me riding a wyvern for a few hours.”
“Heh...heh…” Her laugh was weak and her skin was pale, it was clear that no rest was had for her these past years.
“My students?”
Always worried about everyone but herself.
“Either up there enjoying the festivities or out there somewhere living their best lives.” Claude saw a small smile form on her lips.
“All thanks to you.”
“I’m glad.” Byleth’s smile grew wider as her eyes fluttered shut.
A shot of fear rushed through Claude for a moment before the steady and strong rise and fall of her chest signified she was finally getting her rest. Gently, he picked her up in his arms, carrying her bridal-style up to the monastery. Hopefully, Professor Manuela wouldn’t be too drunk to accept a surprise patient. Though maybe the shock would be enough to sober her up.
Byleth began to stir in his arms as she hummed a little tune he did not recognize. He glanced down to find her fiddling with the gold and black beads of her “lucky” bracelet.
“I don’t think it’s the bracelet that’s lucky.” She whispered, nuzzling her head into his shoulder as her eyes closed again.
“I think you’re where my luck comes from.”
“Then I shall stay by your side and make sure luck stays with you.” Claude smiled as he held her tighter, his heart still beating as fast as ever.
“My lucky star.”

To the End of a Dream (evil!Byleth AU)
AU Masterlist Here!
Withering Flower - FINALE (Part 1)
With the Knights of Nemesis retreating from Gronder and about to activate the Javelin of Liberation, Dimitri, Edelgard, and Claude leave the Church forces behind to pursue Byleth.
Their final clash will be at Garreg Mach.
-----
The Elites of the Fell Star Journal - “Second battle of Garreg Mach”
Having everything end where our plans began.
There was no need for anyone to point out the irony of the situation.
Not only was the Empire attacking us, but the Kingdom and Alliance and even the damned Church raised arms against us, and only us.
One way or another that day, we all thought the same thing.
“This will finally end when hundreds of us lay dead at either side.”
-----
Byleth was in the classroom organizing his papers when he heard the doors open.
(Byleth) “Hm? Oh, class.”
The Black Eagles class walked up to him, looking very excited.
(Byleth) “What’s with the smile on everyone’s faces?”
(Dorothea) “Well, professor! The ball is tomorrow!”
(Edelgard) “Hah, I have no worthwhile memories of such an event, yet I am still looking forward to it.”
(Hubert) “As am I, in the sense that I look forward to destroying all the unworthy suitors that would swarm Lady Edelgard.”
(Ferdinand) “I admit, Edelgard is adorable, however I think I am far superior on the dance floor!”
(Dorothea) “You’re not a bad dancer Ferdie but you have some moves that are...hard to watch.”
(Linhardt) “I also know how to dance...in theory. Maybe I should participate as well.”
(Bernadetta) “N-NOT ME! You wouldn’t catch me dancing no sooner than you’d see a fish swimming through the sky!”
(Caspar) “You do tend to flop around like a fish on land after all! Though, speaking of it, do we get to choose who we dance with and stuff? I wonder who I’ll ask...”
(Petra) “I will fight with all I have!”
(Byleth) “Er...I don’t think fighting is what you’ll be doing, Petra-”
(Dorothea) “So, professor, got anyone in mind?~”
Byleth raised his eyebrow at her.
(Byleth) “I...don’t think I’m going to dance, I’m a mercenary not a-”
(Ferdinand) “No, you’re not a mercenary either, professor! You’re our teacher!”
(Bernadetta) “I-I won’t be dancing but, I’m sure watching you would be interesting!”
(Edelgard) “Our professor ball dancing?” Snrrk!
(Byleth) “I-I can dance! At least...I think I can?”
(Caspar) “You mean those ‘dances’ you do with the other mercenaries? That’s drunk dancing!”
(Hubert) “Seeing our professor ‘drunk dance’ at a ball as fancy as this would be very entertaining? May I humbly request you do this?”
(Byleth) “Absolutely not.”
Everyone began chatting about the dance, Byleth’s dancing skills and who they were going to ask to dance.
Edelgard watched the class engage in such a lively manner, it brought a smile to her face.
(Edelgard) “Excuse me, sorry to change the subject but I have a proposition. Five years from tomorrow, let’s all agree to meet up again!”
(Caspar) “Like a class reunion? That’s a great idea!”
(Petra) “Yes, you will get to see how much growing I have done! This is a good idea!”
(Byleth) “Five years time? Hah, I wonder how all you kids will be five years from now.”
(Linhardt) “And you won’t be enjoying a cozy retirement by then, professor?”
(Byleth) “Hah, not likely being honest. Though, no matter what I’ll be, I’ll be right back here in time.”
(Edelgard) “It’s a promise, professor. Don’t you forget it!”
-----
Tumblr media
(Edelgard) “Five years...”
(Dimitri) “El?”
(Edelgard) “O-Oh, Dimitri. Sorry I...”
He stood next to Edelgard, looking up at the monastery.
(Dimitri) “We cannot turn the hands of time back to what it once was.”
(Edelgard) “I know but...maybe if I had done something different...Byleth wouldn’t be what he is now. If I had never started the war then...Maybe we could have all lived in peace together-”
(Claude) “What’s done is done, Edelgard.”
He walked up beside her, looking up with the two.
(Claude) “Much as I would have loved to live a life of friendship, reality doesn’t work that way. All we can do now is try to right our wrongs.”
(Dimitri) “No matter what, we’ll stay alive long enough to fix this world, together.”
(Edelgard) “...Together.”
(Claude) “I like the sound of that. But, right now we gotta hurry. We’ll be within Garreg Mach in an hour...”
(Edelgard) “Byleth...”
(Everyone) “...”
(Edelgard) “Alright. Let us put an end to it, once and for all.”
...
Byleth stood near the gates watching the three armies converge on their location.
(Soldier) “Sir, the Javelin of Liberation will be activating soon. All of the main forces who haven’t rebelled are out here in the gates.”
He nodded.
Ever since the massive casualties at Gronder, their morale was shaken and started to question their loyalty.
The fact that Shamir, Alois, and Leonie had defected did not help easing their fears.
There was an uprising within the barracks that had to be contained. No one had time to properly kill them.
(Soldier) “If I may sir?”
(Byleth) “Go ahead.”
(Soldier) “I don’t think there’s much chances of us surviving this fight, so you need to get to a safespot and ensure that the Javelin activates.”
Byleth turned to the soldier.
(Byleth) “You are right but...Not being with my men in this battle would surely break mora-”
(Soldier) “We’re all dying for this cause, one way or another. For us loyalists, I’d be more comfortable knowing our deaths ensured victory.”
Byleth looked at the armies who were getting closer, seeing Edelgard leading everyone alongside Dimitri and Claude.
(Byleth) “...Understood. Sothis watch over you all.”
The soldier nodded, and started directing commands to the others, preparing for battle.
Byleth went to the roof to watch the Javelin’s progress on activation.
The main core was in the Tombs where he found the Sword of the Creator, near the chapel.
(Byleth) “All of this blood I have shed...All the lives lost. All will soon be forgiven for everyone...”
...
(Dimitri) “Even though he is our old friend, we must not go easy today...”
(Claude) “As long as we pull off the victory, doesn’t matter how.”
(Edelgard) “Our victory must be absolute, no matter what it may take...”
Kingdom, Alliance, and Empire soldiers drew their swords, the House Leaders retainers coming up to them.
(Dedue) “We all are ready to lay down our lives to stop this madness.”
(Hilda) “Speak for yourself! I don’t plan on dying. I plan on kicking their butts, and living to tell the tale!”
(Hubert) “An inelegant way of putting it, but something I agree with nevertheless.”
...
The Blue Lions slowly drew out their weapons.
(Sylvain) “Can’t say that this is where I imagined the war taking us but...I’m glad we’re all together today.”
(Ingrid) “I will protect my homeland, and my people!”
(Felix) “Tch...If I die here, then the Old Man would never let me hear the end of it...”
(Annette) “My father is gone, but I will not be losing anyone else today!”
(Mercedes) “I’ll protect everyone, even if it means losing my own life!”
(Death Knight) “You will not be losing it when I am around, because I will make sure you die by my hands...”
(Ashe) “Lonato, Christophe, everyone...Today, we’ll make things right for everyone!”
...
The Golden Deers all stood behind Hilda.
(Marianne) “After seeing so much death firsthand, I now realize how precious life is. I won’t let everyone be robbed of such a wonderful thing!”
(Raphael) “I got my little sister, and she sure as heck isn’t going to get killed by this weird Javelin thing if I have anything to say about it!”
(Ignatz) “I’ll protect my family, and all of ours!”
(Lorenz) “What kind of noble would I be if I let a tragedy such as this slide? It is my honor to-”
(Lysithea) “Put a sock in it, would you?...Hmph, I’m not sure I have long to live but, I won’t be letting it end early!”
...
The Black Eagles Strike Force looked down sadly.
(Linhardt) “To think this is where 5 years would put us...”
(Bernadetta) “This one time, I won’t run away. If I die today, well...At least I know it was for all of you.”
(Caspar) “Randolph...even though I didn’t know you that well, I’ll make the professor pay for what he’s done to you, and your sister!”
(Dorothea) “Professor...”
(Ferdinand) “I am conflicted as well but, I will be protecting all of our homes.”
(Petra) “Whether it be Brigid or Fodlan, protect them I shall!”
...
(Edelgard) “Hubert. From the schematics and plans Leonie told us, you and the other retainers will lead the students to the core.”
(Hubert) “And you’ll be going for the control room where Byleth is, correct?”
She nodded.
(Hilda) “We’ll get it done, don’t you worry Miss Edelgard!”
(Dedue) “Leave it to us.”
Everyone looked back to the gates and took a deep breath.
Everything they did here would decide the fate of everyone.
[Apex of the World (Rain) - Fire Emblem Three Houses]
(Edelgard) “FORWARD, NOW!”
(Dimitri) “FOR HONOR!”
Claude motioned forward, and charged with everyone else.
Demonic Beasts came barreling out of the gate, running at a full tilt sprint at them.
Dimitri jumped into the air slammed the lance straight into its head, making it stop and trip over, the corpse now acting as a mini shield for everyone.
The second beast tried going for Claude, only to miss as his Wyvern flew into the air, letting Claude land a shot in the eye.
Hilda, Lorenz, and Ignatz attacked from the sides, sticking their weapons into its head as it tried to break free from the barrage.
Marianne and Lysithea finished it off with a combination of holy and dark magic, burning parts of the body off or completely disintegrating it.
The third beast swung its claws at Edelgard, which was blocked by a magical barrier that reflected it back.
She stood still readying her axe as the rest of the class charged in front of her.
Caspar grabbed onto its head while it was recoiling, and started punching it in the eye, with Hubert, Dorothea, and Linhardt keeping it down with magic.
Ferdinand, Petra, and Bernadetta began taking down the soldiers that were accompanying the beasts and were eventually joined in by the others.
The Blue Lions rushed into the town with Dimitri, seeing the soldiers in formation, walking towards them.
(Ingrid) “RIGHT AND LEFT FLANKS!”
Soldiers emerged from the houses, catching several Kingdom soldiers off guard and killed them.
The Death Knight was almost caught off guard by two soldiers, but his horse leaped back, and cut both their heads off with his scythe.
(Dimitri) “KEEP AN EYE ON THE HOUSES, SOME ARE IN HIDING!”
Dimitri swiped his lance upwards, cutting off the limbs of one knight as he helped one of his own up.
The rest of the classes joined in, with troopers on all sides pouring from the other entrances.
(Nemesis Knight 1) “THEY’RE IN, SHUT THE GATES!”
The Gates closed behind Edelgard, seeing that a good portion of her soldiers were still out there, alongside Claude’s and Dimitri’s.
Claude’s Wyvern landed on a porch right in front of the gate and motioned to everyone.
(Claude) “PREVENT ANY REINFORCEMENTS FROM COMING IN OUTSIDE, AND FIND A WAY TO BLAST THESE GATES OPEN!”
(Alliance Captain) “Yes, Milord!”
Claude nodded and flew back into the fight that was ensuing in the town.
Felix and Sylvain struck down a soldier trying to charge Annette and Mercedes who were trying to cast a spell.
As another squad tried to come at them from behind, Ingrid swooped in, knocking them all back with her Pegasus and skewered one of the soldiers on her lance, making her drop it and pulling out a sword.
Annette and Mercedes shot a line of ice spikes that shot out of the ground, sending a battalion flying into the buildings around them.
Ashe took out the enemy snipers trying to shoot Ingrid, and Dedue protected him from any attackers coming from behind.
A soldier turned the corner and ran straight into Dedue’s shield, making him kick the soldier down, tumbling onto other soldiers falling at the bottom.
Once the Town Square was clear, they all moved to the gates.
However, more and more soldiers began to surround them.
(Dimitri) “Damn, there’s no end to them!”
Dimitri cut down several soldiers, twirling his lance and impaling a soldier behind him without turning to look at him.
Edelgard crushed a soldier completely into the concrete, breaking it and making blood splatter everywhere as Hubert shot a fireball into the building, making everything inside explode.
A soldier opened the door from the building, completely on fire as he fell to the ground dead.
(Edelgard) “We will not be able to make it to Monastery at this rate!”
(Hilda) “Claude, take Dimitri and Edelgard to the monastery, there’s no time to wait up on us!”
They all looked back to their retainers, realizing if they had any chance, they had to be left behind.
(Dedue) “Your highness, go!”
(Hubert) “We have no intention of dying just yet!”
(Hilda) “GO YOU IDIOT!”
Claude nodded, and had Dimitri and Edelgard hop on.
(Claude) “This ride’s gonna be really bumpy, so hang on!”
His Wyvern shot off towards the Monastery, leaving everyone behind.
(Dedue) “Now, it’s up to us!”
The soldiers who accompanied the classes were finally wiped out by the overwhelming numbers of Knights of Nemesis, who slowly began to surround them.
(Hilda) “Looks like they still haven’t found a way to enter in yet! We need reinforcements!”
(Hubert) “EVERYONE, HOLD YOUR GROUND!”
All the classes stood back to back, drawing out their weapons as they moved closer in.
(Ingrid) “So many of them...!”
(Lorenz) “I admit, I’m more than a little worried!”
(Hilda) “I never thought I’d be dying back at the schoolgrounds!”
(Dedue) “How about side by side with your classmates?”
(Hilda) “...No!”
(Hubert) “Both of you be quiet, we need a plan!”
(Bernadetta) “You know what...?!”
Everyone turned to Bernadetta who grasped her bow firmly.
(Bernadetta) “TO HELL WITH ALL OF YOU, NONE OF YOU ARE GONNA KILL ANY OF US TODAY!”
She took the chance to fire her arrow straight through someone’s head, making the soldiers flinch.
(Death Knight) “Well said, little one! General Vestra, you have your plan!”
Before they could react, the Death Knight jumped into the crowd, swinging his sycthe left and right and decapitating and chopping people into pieces.
Now, the rest of the class began attacking, charging and making their enemies back up in fear.
Ashe and Petra pulled out a sword and started trading blows with anyone who got too close to their circle, followed by Felix and Sylvain.
Annette and Mercedes went back into the circle as everyone was keeping the close combat soldiers at bay, alongside Marianne, Lysithea, Dorothea, Linhardt and Hubert.
Spells ranging from healing to offensive were being cast, keeping everyone in fighting shape as they slowly turned the odds back into their favor.
Ingrid grabbed Ignatz by the hand and onto her Pegasus, leading them towards archers who were about to fire into the crowd.
Ignatz dropped down and sliced most of their bows in half, with one archer being able to shoot into the crowd.
Dedue grabbed his shield and deflected an arrow that was about to hit HIlda.
(Dedue) “Ineffective!”
(Hilda) “Thanks!”
She said cheerfully as she swung her axe down, cutting someone in half, and kicking the legs toward a crowd.
Caspar and Raphael used their gauntlets to pulverize the enemies, charging straight in together, crushing heads and stabbing through stomachs.
A group tried to gang up on Raphael, who grabbed one of the soldiers by the legs and swung his body like a weapon, sending troopers flying back from the sheer force.
Ferdinand and Lorenz had to get off their horses to fight in such close quarters, elegantly dodging with their lances and striking back, almost as if they were fencing instead.
The more that everyone cut down, the more soldiers that took their place coming in.
(Ashe) “S-So many!”
(Dedue) “WHERE ARE THE REINFORCEMENTS?!”
As if on cue, one of the gates close by completely exploded, shooting debris all over the floor.
Everyone stopped fighting and looked towards the noise, unsure of whose side it was.
(Nemesis Knight) “That came from the barracks we had in town!”
More Knights of Nemesis emerged from the smoke, raising their weapons.
The students clenched their teeth, raising their weapons as the Knights of Nemesis started to cheer.
Their cheering stopped when they saw Thunder Catherine step out in front of them.
(Catherine) “Sorry to keep you all waiting!”
An arrow flew out of the smoke, hitting a soldier dead in the eye, letting the Knights with Catherine charge out into the fray.
They were joined by Knights of Seiros, adding more to the chaos and confusion.
(Nemesis Knight) “DAMN IT, THE DEFECTORS GOT OU-AUGH!”
A soldier had an axe thrown into his chest, and another was taken out by a woman on horseback.
(Shamir) “Looks like we made it in time.”
(Alois) “Had to make a quick detour!”
(Leonie) “Come on, the Monastery guards will be too busy to deal with us!”
The classes looked off into the distance and saw smoke coming from Garreg Mach.
Even the demonic beasts were having a hard time dealing with the Defectors.
(Shamir) “The beasts we made were ordered not to attack our own forces in the event someone possessed them or Those Who Slither were still around. Obviously, that came to bite them in the ass.”
(Hilda) “Then what are we waiting for, let’s get a move on!”
Everyone nodded, and left the fighting to the soldiers, running towards Garreg Mach.
Catherine was leading the charge, cutting down anyone foolish enough to get in her way, with the classes coming in right behind her.
(Alois) “We’re heading towards the chapel’s Tomb! That’s where the core is!”
Everyone nodded and made a mad dash for the chapel.
Able to run through most of the mayhem with the Loyalists and Defectos fighting each other, they ran down the stairs and saw the core.
It was a massive glowing crystal that was so bright, it almost illuminated the entire tomb.
(Leonie) “There it is, let’s go!”
(Dedue) “A moment, Leonie.”
(Leonie) “Huh?”
(Hilda) “Where are the guards at?”
Everyone remained silent until they saw a shadowy figure form in front of the crystal.
(Hubert) “That sword shape!”
Catherine turned her attention to the weapon the figure was holding.
(Catherine) “The Sword of the Creator! Damn it, it’s Byleth!”
(Linhardt) “N-No it isn’t! Look at the shape of that person!”
(Death Knight) “It is someone worse...”
The core pulsated, and now lit the entire room up to where everyone could see the figure clear as day.
...
“Who...WHO ARE YOU ALL?!”
(Mage) “Sir, the ressurection is working, and he’s under our control.”
(Byleth) “Amazing, Thales. Simply amazing. Trying to resurrect this man against Seiros. How symbolic.”
“That sword...that is mine...! And that crest...!”
(Byleth) “It was never yours to begin with. Sothis belongs to no one.”
“Your hair...your eyes..that means...YOU’RE ONE OF THEM-”
(Byleth) “Kneel.”
“HRRGH! I...CANNOT...MOVE...”
(Byleth) “This is your duty, and you will obey. You are to protect this room from invaders, and you will forfeit your life in order to protect it.”
“I AM A KING! YOU CANNOT CHAIN ME DOWN LIKE-”
(Byleth) “I can, and will. I’ve read the reports on what you are. You’re nothing more than a pathetic old man, but a useful one I suppose. Put him into stasis and have him reemerge once someone has infiltrated.”
(Mage) “Yes sir.”
“YOU WHELPS, DO YOU NOT KNOW WHO I AM?!”
...
[God-Shattering Star - Fire Emblem Three Houses]
(Hubert) “Nemesis...!”
Tumblr media
“You...YOU ALL WILL DI-”
(Hilda) “GO BACK TO HELL YOU CRUSTY OLD BASTARD!”
(Leonie) “Goddess, that’s what Byleth was doing all this time down here?!”
(Dedue) “Tch, doesn’t matter! We must get to the core, from the way it’s glowing its about to activate!”
(Catherine) “THEN LET’S DO THIS! EVERYONE, CHARGE!”
(Everyone) “HYAAAAAAAAA-”
(Nemesis) “NO ONE WILL GET IN MY WAY TO DESTROY SEIROS AND HER CRONIES!”
Nemesis charged into the students, and clashed swords with Catherine.
The swings were met blow for blow, both of them too fast to actually make any decisive hits.
Alois and Leonie came in from the sides, attempting to flank him.
Kicking Catherine away, he cut the head off Leonie’s horse, making her fly off and the horse making Alois roll out the way.
Bernadetta, Ignatz, and Ashe fired several arrows at him while he was in place, making him back off.
Activating the whip, he deflected the arrows and swung it the archers.
Ignatz managed to dodge in time, but Ashe and Bernadetta were hit by it, making them hit the floor.
Leonie and Alois charged again, Alois slamming the axe onto the floor with Nemesis rolling out the way, blocking Leonie’s hit in time.
Pulling back his sword, he swung at Alois, cutting his axe in half and striking him down, a visible scar on his armor as he fell down.
Leonie sustained a similar injury, though without the blessing of armor, having blood spill out.
(Hilda) “LEONIE!”
(Hubert) “FOCUS!”
Nemesis jumped into the air, slamming his bastardized version of the Sword of the Creator into the ground, creating a mini shockwave.
Dedue, Hilda, and Hubert, and Catherine were sent flying and hit the pillars behind them, falling onto the ground.
Annette and Mercedes fired a multitude of spells at him, Nemesis using the whip to absorb the spells with his sword.
Quickly deactivating the whip, he countered both the Death Knight and Felix’s attacks, who came from his sides.
Nemesis grabbed Felix and threw him onto the Death Knight, making him fall off his horse.
The horse went ballistic, and started charging at Nemesis out of pure fear, which he cut in half with a single slice.
He turned to his right and saw Ferdinand, Lorenz, and Sylvain charging with their lances in three separate directions.
Flicking his wrist, the whip reactivated and he swung it upwards, decapitating all the horses and inflicting cuts that went through all three of their armors.
He noticed that his shadow was growing larger, and looked upwards seeing Ingrid trying to divebomb him with the Pegasus.
Rolling to the side and taking several swings, both unable to land a solid hit on each other.
Nemesis grabbed Ingrid by the arm, and pulled her towards him and off her mount.
He punched her in the stomach, denting the armor and making her cough up blood.
The force which he grabbed her dislocated Ingrid’s arm, and he threw her into the closest wall, making the wall crack using Ingrid as a projectile.
When she fell onto the floor, it was then he noticed that Lysithea, Annette, and Dorothea were charging up a spell.
It was starting to become brighter than the core in the room.
(Lysithea) “FIRE!”
Unleashing a beam of dark magic, it completely incinerated the pillars next to Nemesis, with him barely dodging in time.
He was about to run before he noticed that parts of his arms were singed off, making it hard to hold the Sword of the Creator.
Flicking his wrist, he was about to strike at the three mages until it got caught onto something.
Looking back, he saw the Death Knight’s scythe was holding the whip.
Caspar and Raphael leaped out from cover, and drove their gauntlets into his head, making an audible cracking noise.
Instead of falling over, Nemesis mustered all his strength to throw the Death Knight around like a ragdoll, finally releasing his grip.
Having nothing to restrain him, he headbutted Caspar so hard that blood came out from both their heads, and kicked Raphael into the ground.
Nemesis aimed his sword at Raphael’s heart, but his hand was shot by a precision shot, making the sword fly off from his hands.
Turning back, he saw Shamir and Petra, loading up arrows.
He ran up to them, leaving his sword behind and using rage as his weapons, raised his fists.
Petra and Shamir dodged his punch, as he punched the wall and created two massive holes.
They took out their daggers and went for the his knees, slicing the major arteries and hopping away quickly before he could retaliate.
From this position, Nemesis could see the room clearly.
All the mages in the room immediately went to healing the injured, Mercedes, Marianne and Linhardt healing the gravely injured first.
However it was at this point he realized he didn’t see Hubert, Catherine, Hilda or Dedue from where he knocked them out.
He saw Lysithea in the distance, firing at a spell behind a rock.
Then, the bright light appeared right above him.
Catherine was warped right on top of him, slamming Thunderbrand into his arms, which he tried to use as a shield.
Feeling his bones start to split apart, he then realized where the other three were.
Right beside Catherine.
Hilda slammed her axe into his legs, severing it, which made him lose balance, leading to his arm getting cut off by Thunderbrand.
Dedue slammed his shield with all his strength on top of Nemesis’s head, crushing it and splattering his head all over the floor.
Everyone hopped out the way as Hubert casted his most powerful dark spell, completely overwhelming Nemesis’s body and vaporizing it into dust.
Once his body was gone, the mock Sword of the Creator dissipated into the air.
(Shamir) “Leonie, Alois!”
Marianne grabbed Leonie while Mercedes helped Alois up, trying to heal their injuries.
(Leonie) “D-Don’t worry about us, the core...!”
They all looked to the core which was pulsating faster and faster.
(Shamir) “Shit, it’s about to activate!”
(Alois) “Y-you-agh! N-Need to overload it with magic! HURRY!”
Dorothea, Linhardt, Lysithea, and Annette all started to cast their strongest spells and aimed it at the core.
(Shamir) “NOW!”
At the same time, all of them shot from their hands, ranging from ice, holy, dark, meteoric spells onto the core, hitting it all at once.
The core exploded into fragments, the energy overtaking the room in a bright light.
[SONG END]
Catherine held her eyes shut, expecting to lose all feeling from the blast, until she opened an eye.
The room was just lit dimly with the orange torches that were in the room, no longer outshined by the core.
She looked around her, seeing all the students were having a similar reaction.
(Leonie) “We...did it...hah...!”
Marianne felt Leonie go limp, which prompted her to start shaking her.
(Hilda) “L-LEONIE!”
(Marianne) “I-It’s the shock from her blood loss, I can still save her!”
(Catherine) “And the others?!”
(Sylvain) “A-Agh...right here...!”
Sylvain was helped up by Felix, but they nearly tripped over themselves once they saw how Ingrid was.
Ferdinand and Lorenz helped each other up, which Linhardt began to heal the both of them, alongside Dorothea.
(Hubert) “That was far closer than I’d like...”
(Hilda) “N-No kidding...!”
(Dedue) “Wait a second, our lords!”
Everyone’s eyes widened when Dedue said that.
They may have taken out the core.
But what about Byleth?

food, clothing, & religion preferences -- as suggested by @valorwilled!
once again under a cut for length!
food.
araceli has a massive sweet tooth-- in part because she just naturally loves sugar and sweet things, but there is admittedly more to it than that.
growing up in the northern fortress, araceli was not allowed many sweets-- in fact, much of what she was allowed to be given to eat was very limited and there would be times garon demanded she be starved entirely for acting out or wanting to return to hoshido. many of her meals early on amounted to table scraps, and it wasn’t until gunter took matters into his own hands that the situation improved.
this changed when araceli’s combat training began, but her meals were still decided for her and geared towards nutritional value rather than enjoyment. she was being fed regularly, yes, but with a goal in mind-- a malnourished soldier isn’t a very effective one, after all.
when xander, camilla, leo, or elise would visit, however, things would be different. the princes and princesses of nohr often called for tea and cakes and all sorts of delicious treats to be brought up to them while they spent time with their adoptive sister, allowing her some comforts and joy whilst they were in the northern fortress with her.
the one thing that ended up being allowed when the nohrians weren’t present was tea, and given araceli does not like coffee, jakob instead experiments with different blends for her-- the one he is proudest of is a peach blend, likely because it is the princess’ favourite.
as an adult araceli can eat whatever she likes, especially now that she has been released from her prison. she has a tendency to eat alone in her treehouse away from the others in later cycles, and there are times she has to be reminded or forced to do so; her appetite fluctuates. she will often indulge in sweets as a form of stress relief. while she also drinks to do the same, it has not become a problem. ( ...yet. if not kept an eye on, it very well could. )
she prefers nohrian wines to sake, but has a weakness for hoshidan sweets made with red bean paste... actually, she really likes hoshidan food in general and has gotten very good at handling chopsticks; to the point where she forgets that pre-choice, she’s not supposed to have used them or have followed hoshidan table etiquette for fifteen years whilst she’s visiting.
fashion.
much of araceli’s fashion preferences stem from elise and camilla-- the princesses would often dress araceli up when they visited, and she found she liked the way the clothes they picked out looked on her. however, she simplifies the outfits as her sisters have a tendency to dress her in extraordinarily cutesy fashions and she wants to look her age-- the dream is elegant and ladylike, but she doesn’t think she pulls it off very well.
in casual wear, araceli can often be seen in a full, high waisted circle skirt or dress with many petticoats and a ribbon at the back, a blouse, and a cravat. she wears full tights as opposed to ones with thigh windows, and most importantly of all wears boots outside of battle.
while she likes her fashion choices there’s also a very real reason the princess dresses so simply and conservatively: she doesn’t like exposing her body in public, not wanting people to see childhood scars and ask about them.
in hoshido, she very quickly adapts to wearing kimonos again and likes them quite a bit; they’re stiff and rigid, but they cover her and they’re gorgeous. while it’s difficult to put one on alone, araceli has made a point to learn as much as she can by herself to avoid having to let others touch her too much. she wears her hair properly tied back in a bun whilst wearing one, as opposed to her usual pigtails.
she also wears opaque leggings under the thigh window tights provided to her with her sets of armour, given garon is the one who sent the armour and she is very uncomfortable with the thought that the man is forcing her to not only run around in a long sleeved leotard but expose that much skin. it’s a very quiet ‘screw you’ and the one form of rebellion she can get away with.
as a nohr noble, she will refuse to wear the female variant, finding it uncomfortable and exposing and goes for the male version. she’ll wear female hoshido noble, but still wears the tights under it. now that the valla noble cipher cards have been released and the female variant looks more like nohr noble f, she wears the male version of that too i guess!
no matter what she’s wearing, the two constants are her eyepatch and butterfly hairpin. she may forego the eyepatch in private with a significant other, but only if she absolutely feels comfortable around them and like they won’t be grossed out by the glass eye and scarring.
religion.
araceli is not religious in the slightest! she does not worship the dawn or dusk dragons, nor any other gods izumo might worship, and actually holds the tiniest bit of contempt for them-- the dawn dragon didn’t protect her when her life was turned upside down, nor did the dusk dragon make her ordeal in nohr bearable. in addition, the people of nohr suffer constant famines and resources are hard to come by, so it’s not like the dusk dragon is doing their job and protecting those who worship them anyways.
the gods have abandoned her, she believes-- why else would she have endured three hundred years in an exercise of futility? therefore, she does not need the gods.
this also applies to araceli’s fodlan verse, as when those who slither took her underground for experimentation, she often begged and pleaded and prayed for the goddess to either save her or kill her to end the torment already. sothis, never did, of course, as she was busy being dormant inside of byleth.
seeing how the church of seiros operates on top of her own personal ordeal -- sending children to rout bandits and witness a noble’s execution as a warning that this will be them if they step out of line, to name a few things -- and just how utterly messed up the crest system is only cements her belief that there is no longer any need for gods.
regardless of fateslandia, fodlan, or anywhere else, she will not berate or judge anyone who is religious. if religion helps them through their lives, so be it. it’s just not for her.

fe3h blogging 2 because the post got too long
Edelgard Claude foiling. Both see that the world is wrong and that motivates them to make it better. Claude listens to people, Edelgard listens to herself. Claude reflects and introspects, Edelgard doesn’t.
I was going to write more but I realized I was just bashing Edelgard so I stopped. Anyways, the Gatekeeper has a backstory??? a younger twin brother and they’re from the empire?? Also wow Edelgard is REALLY into you (the light in the darkness pft)
I also want to comment how the Church of Seiros unlike some other fantasy religions really is like real life historical (and current) religious organizations. There’s a mix of people from the non believers but there to help, to those that believe this is the best way to help people, to those looking for power, to the people who are there because its a way to make a living. I want to make clear though that Sothis/The Goddess is dead and she can only act a little bit through Byleth. Before the game The Goddess has NO influence on Fodlan. Anyone praying is doing nothing in terms of reaching The Goddess.
Hilda: Tell me what I’m thinking about right now.
Ferdinand: Hmm... You want a snack.
Hilda: I DO want a snacc ;) ;) ;)
supports: Ashe Dedue, Sylvain Felix, Ingrid Dimitri, Hubert Ferdinand, Petra Claude, Marianne Ignatz
3h totally fooled me with the hair colors. I’m too use to JRPGs have rainbow haircolors so I think nothing of it but in this game the white/green hair are plot significant.
Somehow related to dragon shenanigans(white/green): Sothis, Lysithea, Flayn, Edelgard, Byleth, Rhea, Seteth
Plausibly a normal color with weird undertones: Ignatz, Shamir, Petra, Felix, Lindhardt,
That inexplicably JRPG colored hair: Bernadetta, Hilda, Caspar, Marianne, Ashe, Lorenz
Ch14 of Crimson Flowers has made me unfathomably sad. Claude hold himself so tightly, closed off with high walls. He always has a face on, doesn’t break composure. But in ch 14 in the face of losing his dream you can see the cracks in walls. And Claude may be closed off but he is in no way cold hearted or uncaring, he cares so much and you see that as the Empire gains ground. That battle is one of the few glimpses of Claude. Whether he is killed or spared, both are sad. The cut scene after Claude is spared is seemingly lighthearted and a tonal contrast to the serious battle right before it. Without knowing Claude better it seems like a breather before more plot happens, but knowing Claude that scene really breaks my heart. In contrast with the moments of honesty during the battle, Claude’s social mask has snapped right back into place, hiding all of his pain. Claude’s dream meant all to him, being able to walk side by side with his friends in a new world, and that dream just took a devastating blow. Claude is by no means dishonest during that scene, but knowing how devastated he is on the inside yet forcing himself to hold it all together... He’s sad and now I’m sad.
The Insurrection of the Seven is fascinating to me. Just because people keep saying different things about it. Was the Emperor seeking to consolidate power for the throne and the nobles stopped him or where the nobles always seeking to turn the Emperor into a puppet ruler? To my limited knowledge I think for a while Emperors had been losing power. Enough so that the experiments on Edelgard and her siblings could not be stopped. He then tried to expand his power and was crushed.
Crimson Flower is quite interesting. Edelgard and Hubert are walking a fine line balancing the church and the Agarthans. The Empire appears unified but its a shell for the Agarthans and Edelgard is betting on the appearance of that shell.
Wow Dimitri is surprisingly sane and not feral in CF. Does the purple clouds in Dimitri’s death CG remind anyone else of the S support CGs?
Lysithea and Edelgard can bond over shared childhood experiences and being short
Can you imagine Claude, Hilda, and Sylvain as a squad. They would radiate such chaotic energies just standing next to each other that Nemesis would leap out of his cyberpunk containment pod and start dancing to leek spin
How is Dimitri clean shaven post timeskip?? Most people in the grips find it hard to be functional and do basic tasks and your telling me he meticulously shaves everyday? I'm calling it. Dimitri is trans and can't grow a whisker
So the brits (and w europe really) went mad for tea and got it through colonization of india. Where does fodlan get its tea?? Its mostly too cold unless you want to convince me theres an extensive breeding program for hardy cultivars somewhere. Dagda?? We know coffee is imported. hot take: the empire started a war to get more tea
I dont talk about dorothea enough. I almost chose BE just for her. She hates nobles and its great. The voice acting is top notch too. Dorothea-Ferdinand c support is memorable to me because of the voice acting. The line delivery was so good. Especially the  " I hate you " from Dorothea. She's so savage. She was the only one I considered S supporting after intsys robbed me of claude. Didn't go through with it though. It always feels wierd romancing fictional characters.I remember how P3 forced me on the harem route and wow that was uncomfortable. Dorothea is kind. I like kind people. She's so full of love (Manuela is the other character overflowing with love), and her compassion extends to everyone. She understands the grief of war. Contrast that to local manlet Caspar. Once he's decided someone is an "enemy" he stops caring. Oh Caspar... All of Dorothea's supports are so good too... Dorothea's backstory can get a little disturbing. She's 18 at the beginning of the game. She began singing with the company at 10 and gained fame at 13. What troubles me his how she talks about how after every show she was innundated with marriage proposals and such. The way she talks about it, it went on for a while, and while sure the letters and stuff could have been from other teenagers, that she was getting all this as a teenager is creepy. In addition, then she talks about the nobles fawning over her and it made my skin crawl. But the worst was  that a noble possibly her father was coming on to her . Like Dorothea, I'm with you. Let's burn down the world.  Despite the justifiable anger though, dorothea is so full of love. Until the last her heart never turns cold.
Thinking about claude and edelgard. On one hand their personalities, ideals, and ambitions complement each other. On the other hand Edelgard doesn't understand how people work and Claude is a manipulator, guarded, he never lets any one in(edited)Claude can totally read her, but Edelgard reacts poorly to criticism and dissent.... Claude has no faith. Not in his dreams and not in himself. With out a push, he's not proactive. Edelgard charges straight ahead while Claude takes the circuitous path. "Defensive" thats the word for edelgard, she so easily thinks people are out for her. Whereas claude deflects. Both are fuelled by a sense of justice.  Edelgard thinks in terms of eliminating enemies, claude thinks in terms of recruiting allies.  The point is the the tragedy that they would make great friends! But thats not happening in this universe! Because edelgard's bull headed and claude wont open up!
Watching s supports and anyone notice theres 3 variations on the ring.  There 2 silver and green ones. At first I thought small green stone was from people with common origins and big stone from noble. But I just saw saw one with a gold ring.It could be that the character is just that extra. And yeah it is gold is from Ferdinand and Lorenz.
Ferdinand  was so obnoxious at first. But hes such a good boy. He does his best. He's trying very hard. Also, existential angst is my jam.
I just remembered theres only 5 saints in the Church of Seiros and does that mean the tome of comely saints has erotica of... like... cihol??? And cethaleann????? Uuuuuuhhhhhh...I dont like my brain sometimes.
so that whole fuss that byleth's mom was rhea's daughter was because tons of "gamers" chose BE first and misinterpreted Edelgard's speculation. When in reality Jeralt was the one who Rhea gifted her crest (seiros) to, extending his lifespan. Rhea then cut out baby Byleth's heart and then replaced it with Sothis's crest stone hoping that Sothis would posses byleth. All we know of the mom is that she was a nun and died young. Flames crest stone joined to Byleth's heart (CF ending cutscene). Rhea placed Sothis' heart in baby Byleth to revive Sothis (VW ch 22 opener). She has done human experimentation on people to revive Sothis before (implication). Seiros/Rhea did so so that Sothis would posses the body (Rhea dialog consistently referring to Byleth as "Mother" or hoping that Sothis will poke through).
The only time Claude’s anger breaks through his composure is with Rhea. This is significant as Claude almost never loses his composure, and this highlights how Rhea in the only person Claude hates. Claude doesn’t hate Edelgard or Dimitri or any of the other people that may kill him, just Rhea.
question about the Black Eagles/Crimson Flower ending:  why does Byleth collapse and then Sothis' crest stone break? I mean I will give it a break since its symbolic and thematically significant and all and it was a excellent touch that Sothis' heart and Byleth's heart have literally weaved together. Is reviving Byleth Sothis' last act?? Why did Byleth have to die to begin with though? ... well maybe Byleth didn't die since they didn't have a heartbeat to begin with. So far the writing in 3H has been pretty good though there have been weak spots. I think that CF final scene was put in more because it "felt right" than because it was logical. it fits with edelgard's goals and what the route's been about. its just if you really think about it. It doesn't make sense based on what is already known. I mean crest stones could have other powers but I haven't seen that anywhere else in the game. As for the story as a whole, the main acting forces in the game are Edelgard+Empire, those who slither in the dark, and Rhea+Church. Claude also has his own ambitions, but those 3 are more deeply entwined. Each faction has its own goals and past and a good chunk of the game is figuring out what those are. Its also ironic that GD despite how Claude is not enmeshed in ... that other mess, sheds so much light on the other factions.
The main theme is probably about Rhea since it plays a lot during Rhea scenes and the church is a central focus of the story.
the "M-metal gear?!?!?!" moment will always be hilarious for me. On par with dollar store Hitler
Why is it Jeralt's voice on the map even after he dies?
God Shattering Star:  How Many Times Do We Have to Teach You This Lesson, Old Man?
Dawn is a recurring motif in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. the dawn of a new age” is or such is
Claude, a child loved and lonely
i think blue lions was written first. 1 the two monthly missions that have to do with students’ families are both in BL (Ashe and Sylvain). 2 two fairly important side characters at the monastery are related to BL students (Annette and Mercedes). Chapter 3 actually provides a intro for all the lords in their respective routes. Edelgard’s scene is serious but not especially sad, instead you can feel te fire burning within Edlegard and the scene shows how she’s willing to sacrifice the lives of those under her if she believes she is doing the right thing. Claude’s is actually quite light hearted in tone after the first few lines and it highlights the mystery surrounding him and makes him seem very sketchy. Chapter 3 in Blue Lions though is really sad. Ashe my baby boy. Here there is a sense of tragedy in the post battle scene
oh there is another Claude loses his temper. Its when a bunch of thieves (badly) impersonate Almyrans and Claude is so offended they didn’t put enough effort into the act and that they’re weak.
Major Player Goals
Rhea: revive Mother
Edelgard: take down the Church and crest system
Agartha: vengeance on the Nabateans
Claude: usher in a new age of tolerance and prosperity for humanity
Dimirti: keep afloat???
CHURCH SKETCH AF. Rhea always raised the hair on the back on my neck.  I mean even in ch3 the first real mission. We're being used as a personal assassination squad because Lonato threatens Rhea's power.  and then she's like. This is a public execution to give an example of what happens when you defy the church.  and I was like !!!!!!! let's mentally/emotionally scar a bunch of teenagers into fearing the wrath of the church.  Rhea: prosecutor, defense, jury, judge
I remember ranting about revolution and society in fire emblem games before having played this one, and wow intsys made a game for me
Ignatz and Raphael. I must protect both of them. sweet sweet boys. Raphael has the biggest heart and Ignatz just wants to help. Team Protect Raphael's Heart. Raphs is pretty emotionally mature too. he gives warm fuzzy vibes. Ignatz takes on so many burdens and clams up about his own pain. He doesn't place any importance on himself. Let my boy be an artist! Raphael certainly has pain, but he doesn't want a life where that pain rules over all else. Raphael is a force of GOOD I would have love to meet Lorenz's dad. I don't have high expectations of him, but I'm curious.  we've heard so many different things about him. And he's one of the major actors of the story. But we also know so little about him.
o both Mercedes and Emile have the Lamine crest. If that came from their shared mother, why did House Martritz fall since she was heir? Possible answer sexism or finances. The other option is that both Bartels and Martritz have the Lamine bloodline. Also, Jeritza is younger than I thought he was Modern Advances in Missile System Engineering Wade and Kruger 7e 2XXX

I think I'm hilarious. heh. Imagine though, While digging around Shambhala Claude finds these and everyone is just confused because it looks like their language???? and yet the words! they dont make sense!
I didn’t really care when hubert died in VW, but edelgard's death hit me you know. Because both claude and edelgards ambitions are to tear down the old system. and seeing edelgard in that armor. Its like the timeskip all over again. Part 2 begins and you relize how much all the characters have grown. And while you werent looking edelgard has been going through her own journey. When you fight her shes wearing armor with elements from both the flame emperor and her part 2 outfit  yeah edelgard is yikes. i agree with her goals but her disregard for yhe lives under her concerns me. And between her tendency to brute force solutions, those who slither in the dark, and the empires situation, I think she was doomed to fail from the start
When Claude ... half jokes??? that Hilda can grasp his throat, is that connected to how Fodlan's Locket (in Fodlan's Throat) is under house Goneril control?
