Screenshot not mine. This document is from Nightmare mode, specifically from the paper that the Hooded man gives us. Its been deciphered months ago, back during Nightmare Mode’s initial release (May 2024)

Deciphered by @double--hh (identified as a Vigenere cipher). This message further explains the origins, and purposes of the Doppelgängers. confirming them to be created and used for exclusively war purposes, being used as spies and/or disposable soldiers.

What do you imagine the apartments themselves to be like? I would assume there are differences in sizes given the wide variety of the neighbors jobs/incomes (people like the Cappuccins and the twins having nicer/bigger units, single residents having smaller ones, etc.)

TNMN Apartment Complex Layout

I actually made a whole layout on how the whole apartment complex would look like in my au (but it could apply to the og too)

so, i thought that the apartment complex would be shaped similar to this, where there is a lobby-like part of the building only on the first floor and surrounding it are the actual residential parts of the building are surrounding it. that lobby is where the doorman does their job

and here's a floor plan per floor

so there are two types of apartments in the complex: the 2 single-person bedroom ones (Apartments 2 and 3) and the one 2-person bedroom (Apartments 1 and 4)

the "nicer rooms" are the 1st and 4th apartments of each floor because they have a separate dining and living space (so you bet your ass the twins wanted that one)

but the thing is the first and fourth apartments is that the bedroom is obviously made for a couple. so it would be a bit odd for the twins and the mikaelys boys to be sleeping in a room meant for couples, so what i imagine they did is that they just bought separate beds each other and put a divider in the room.

as you can see the apartment also has rooms for certain amenities (laundry, recreation etc.)

i also put an elevator in here for easy transport and also we've got senior citizens living on the top floor (pls they have arthritis they can't walk up and down the stairs all the time XD)

there is a rooftop level in the apartment and that's where the neighbors can hang their larger laundry to dry (bedsheets and curtains) and there's a small greenhouse

Do you have any interpretations on what could the doppels represent for each neighbour in your AU eg. Stitchface, Hoon lady Frances, brain doppel Steph, Peach Peach, etc?

i actually have for only a few specific doppels (but i haven't got a fully fleshed out explanation just yet for all of them, so i'll share the ones i do have in mind):

the stitchface doppel - represents nacho's past cowardice (running away, turning a blind eye and refusing to speak to frances when he found out that he got her pregnant)

scarlet milk doppel- represents frances' attempt to murder someone in the past (nacho)

steph mole doppel - this is more of a personal attack on steph's part from the doppels than a deeper interpretation but the mole is supposed to mirror the same mole her dad had

hoon lady - represents frances' past psychosis

exposed brain doppel : a manifestation of an inner insecurity albertine has

this is just some new background lore but i'll just put it in a nutshell: in their family, they all adhere to quite traditional values of the good ol' days. despite being one of the big sister figures of the younger cousins, albertine wasn't really all that well-liked by her other older relatives due to her rather brash, confrontational and hot-headed personality, which in their eyes isn't how a woman in their family should be like. they always say this jokingly in family get-togethers, but they suggest that she probably should get a lobotomy if she ever wants a chance to get married or into any relationship.

they say "no man likes a negative, naggy nancy". "it's better for a lady to just be happy in thoughtless bliss" .

of course, albertine chooses not to let that comment get to her, but sometimes she does ponder about it.

so, the doppel is a manifestation of that thought.

peach peach - an extreme flanderized version of what the ideal women of the peachman family ; not a single other thought going on their mind and happy

ねぇ、ドアマンのHenry動かなくなっちゃたよ

最近、ねこぢるにハマり始めたのね。

そして、その反動でこんなん描いちゃったのね。

ストーリーを説明するとね、Henry死ぬのが怖すぎて1人審査する時間が30分と長くなっちゃったのね。

そんなんだからYog達待つのが暇すぎてね、審査中に持ってた飯(Yogは勿論血、QuachilとIshtarは血管蕎麦大盛り爪散らし)食い始めたのね。(勿論外見チェックした後)

そこでHenryが書類チェック終わってこの有り様を見てブチ切れてね、Yogに「血なんか飲みやがって、ふざけるな!」って、血液バッグを床に投げつけて日々のストレスをぶつけたのね。

そしたらYog、予想通りブチ切れてね、Henryをワンパンで殺しちゃったのね。

それを見たIshtarね、「ねぇ、ドアマンのHenry動かなくなっちゃたよ」って呑気なこと言った上に、Henryの仕事部屋から金(給料)を持ち出したり、ドアロック解除ボタン勝手に押したりしたのね。

ちなみにQuachilね、自分達の部屋に帰るときね、こう言ってたのね。「人殺すって面白いねー」

……Nightmares色々やばいね

あと、コレ@joydoesathing の性別反転キャラで描いてみたいんだけど、QuachilとYogが出てないからまだまだ先になりそうなのね。
