Katsuki reading Mina's shojo Mangas and romance novels bc he's bored one night and the Bakusquad is drunk and acting like idiots, and Mina making little jokes about him getting hooked.
But in actuality he's reading them and thinking this is schlock. This is pedestrian. He keeps reading hoping for a deeper escalation of the romance but it's all hopelessly cliche. He thinks He could probably write better romance in his sleep, or if he has a few beers himself.
And then he fucking tries, and suddenly he has TWO SECRET PROJECTS.
bakugo is a secret romantic confirmed. It's about the devotion, it's about the 8 years and dying for Izuku twice. It's the Izuku being one of the last things he saw before death!
Katsuki fucking hates romance tropes because they aren't enough. They're flimsy, they're shallow, he can do way fucking better than flowers or crepes or giving up his jacket, and he will because he's the fucking best!!

I had a legit dream this morning where Andrew and Jeremy where on the same professional team after college and one day Andrew was having a not great day and practice was coming to an end, and Jeremy could tell that Andrew was getting pretty overstimulated, so he went and stood next to him and started to pretend to talk to him, and like, helped him get to his car without anyone else coming over and bugging them.
Anonymous said to whatmack: I beg of you, give me more jeremy and andrew friendship if you have any headcannons or something
--
Jeremy Knox coming over to him was very nearly the straw that broke Andrew’s back. He’d known when he woke up that today was not a good day. Only the memory of Neil’s face-- how transparently proud he’d been, when Andrew had gotten the offer for this contract-- kept him from shoving his pillow over his head to hide the world and going back to sleep. Even the light of the fridge as he dug for breakfast had seemed too bright, coalescing in a headache at Andrew’s temples. He’d grimaced, shoved four Aleve in his mouth, and done his best to ignore it. Now, there were thirty minutes left in practice, and Andrew was hanging on with his fingernails. Everything from his teammates’ shouts to the rattle of the glass when the ball slammed against it made Andrew feel like screaming. He didn’t have the energy to spare a disparaging word for Coach Kegan as she subbed him out, too focused on getting to the bench without losing his fraying control.  “Hey,” Jeremy said, sliding next to him. He kept a body’s distance between them; Andrew was beginning to realize Jeremy’s relentless cheer covered an acute sense of intuition. He wasn’t sure yet whether he liked it. Andrew laced his hands behind his neck, over the towel he’d put over his head to block out some of the light, and didn’t answer. “Minyard!” Andrew flinched. It was a supressed motion, for him, more a backwards shiver, but the slight pause in Jeremy’s breathing let him know Jeremy had seen it. Andrew prepared to muster up a glare, gathering all of his strength-- but to his surprise, it wasn’t to him that Jeremy spoke next.  “Ey, in a minute, Wildman, I’m tryin’ to talk to him about dinner next month.” “Good luck. Fucker never comes to anything.” “I want him there. Oh hi, Coach!” “Shit, fuck--” The player raced away. Andrew pressed his hands over his ears and held his breath. Even so, he could feel the bouncing of the bench as Jeremy jiggled his leg. “Stop it,” he snapped. “Stop-- oh, right, sorry.” A soft scrape, and then a zipper; then a jangle as Jeremy took out his keys to fidget with. That was more manageable. Andrew couldn’t feel it. The backs of his eyes throbbed. The towel smelled musty from being kept inside his bag. It crept up his nose, down his throat, so far Andrew could taste it. He wanted to slam his head against the glass of the court to make it go away. He didn’t. Jeremy fended off the other players and even the Coaches until the end of practice; Andrew didn’t have the capacity to be suspicious or grateful, because he was counting down the seconds until practice ended with a desperate focus. As soon as the clock hit 4 he stood and shoved his way into the locker room, not bothering to wait for Kegan to dismiss him. The feeling of the shower water would be too much right now, so he hustled out the door without bothering to wash up.  Jeremy caught up with him outside. Once in the sun, Andrew’s thin jacket had become unbearably stifling, and he stopped to rip it off, jerking it over his head when he couldn’t get the zipper to pull down fast enough. He threw the jacket at Jeremy and bolted for the car. Behind him, he could vaguely hear Jeremy stuffing the jacket in his own bag and making excuses at their teammates. He didn’t care. The only thing that mattered right now was getting in his car, where it was safe, and it was controlled, and it was fucking quiet.  When he’d stuffed himself back in his own head some, hands gripping the leather of the steering wheel and air conditioning on as high as it could go, Andrew took a deep breath and rolled down the window. Jeremy was leaning against the side of the Maserati, bobbing his head to music playing though his headphones. He took out an earbud and tipped his sunglasses down when he saw Andrew looking at him. “Okay?” he asked. Words were enough effort right now that they’d break the sliver of command Andrew had over himself. In answer, Andrew unlocked the passenger-side door. Jeremy grinned and swung himself around the car, hand flat on the hood to hook his momentum, and into the seat beside Andrew. Both of them jumped when Jeremy slammed the door. Andrew bared his teeth at him. Jeremy rubbed the back of his head, sheepish. “Sorry.” They’d started carpooling two months ago, when Andrew had seen Jeremy determinedly biking up the street to the court in the pouring rain. Jeremy was annoying, but he wasn’t entirely unbearable, and he always brought Andrew coffee in the morning. Honestly, he put up with it for the sake of Kevin’s jealous bellyaching whenever Andrew mentioned it.  He looked at Jeremy out of the corner of his eye as he clicked on his turn signal. He wanted to ask why Jeremy had pretended to speak to him, had kept the others away, but he still didn’t have his words back yet.  “You know, if that happens again, you can just tell Coach you’re sick and need to go home early,” Jeremy said, casual. He wasn’t even looking back at Andrew. The city scenery had to be boring after all this time with the same buildings every day. “She won’t mind.” Yeah, right, Andrew thought. He made the turn fast, earning him a series of honks from oncoming traffic. They beat around the inside of his skull, flaring his headache again.
“Seriously, I mean...I’ve done it.” Jeremy twirled the ring of his keys around his finger. “ADHD, man. Sometimes you just gotta scream.” Andrew didn’t have ADHD, as far as he knew. Not that he’d trust the diagnosis if he got it; several years of the wrong medication hadn’t strenghtened his already antagonistic attitude towards the medical profession. He could...bring it up with Aaron, maybe. His brother had been on this weird getting-himself-tested kick since he’d been spending all his time at the hospital. It was stupid.  Usually, Andrew dropped Jeremy off a block from his apartment. They didn’t know each other that well. This time he took Jeremy right up to his door. There were ostentatious NO PARKING signs posted, but Jeremy didn’t reprimand him. “Thanks!” Jeremy said, hopping out onto the pavement. He did that every time, both to and from practice. Thanked Andrew. Unnatural, that’s what it was. Andrew drove away without bothering to return the sentiment. He had the uncomfortable feeling that Jeremy got it anyway.

My name is Robert.
The Multiverse exists. Peter has found him.
But his name isn’t Tony.
It’s Robert.
Tumblr media
As celebration for 500 followers, enjoy this post-Endgame drabble :)
Taglist at the end. Tagging people who are on the Hearts of Iron taglist, also some people who reblogged @lrel98‘s addition to @itsallavengers‘s post, with a similar premise. Let me know if you want in or out~
Peter squints as he looks out across the panorama, bathed in the lights and sounds and gaudy not-quite-night that New Yorkers are so used to. Streets and avenues stare back at him, at once familiar and foreign. From time to time his gaze would pass over a corner of the city before jerking back to refocus on a building, or a block, or some ordinary intersection, pausing until he picks out a part that’s not quite like the others—like playing a giant, never-ending find-the-difference game.
It’s… jarring. Sure, sprinkled here and there are some blocks that look almost identical to his world’s, but even more parts of the city, entire swaths even, are just… off. The skyline, too, is wrong, with buildings popping up where they shouldn’t, and others leaving gaping voids in their absence.
Like the Avengers Tower… or rather, the lack thereof.
Peter clenches his jaw and tears his eyes away from where the tower is supposed to be. He palms the rough texture of the skyscraper’s exterior. It’s his second-favorite spot to cling to and be moody on. At least the Empire State Building is the same as he remembers, complete with the exact same security camera configurations and blind spots—seriously, what are the odds of that?
For the fourth time since he’s arrived, he wonders why this hugely inconvenient detour happened in the first place. It’s probably his horrid sense of direction at work, he decides. His topographagnosia—that’s legit what it’s called—is probably so bad that it made his Multiverse Quantum Spacetime Guidewatch malfunction. God that’s a mouthful (the watch, not the affliction). Everyone would be better off calling it a Gadget. Or a Gizmo? A Goober?
Yeah, he’ll just call it a Goober from now on.
Peter sighs and stares at the piece of machinery in resignation. To be fair, he did get briefed on the possibility of this exact scenario happening—something close to a one-in-ten-thousandth chance, or so Mr. Beck said—which is kind of impressively low, given the magnitude of what they’ve accomplished.
And, again to be fair, it’s not as if Peter is really… surprised, anymore, especially with his luck in recent months.
He knows he ought to care. He ought to be more worried. He’s supposed to be Spider-Man, supposed to do what he always did when entering a new world: find out what it’s like, locate a safe spot, and gather information. See if it needs his help; because no matter what universe, no matter what dimension, people are people.
But he’s so tired. Fighting, saving people, doing good. More and more often he finds himself wanting to run away as far as possible, to a place that doesn’t need constant saving. You shouldn’t even be doing this, a small voice would nag from time to time. You’re worthless. You never saved anyone. You couldn’t save him.
Peter knows that voice is wrong—because he has these gifts and if he doesn’t use them then what did Uncle Ben die for?—and yet he just can’t seem to help his thoughts. And it’s hard; hard not to feel young, and stupid, and alone, when he knows there won’t be a slightly annoyed voice answering his calls, tired but never hanging up while he blabbers about school, or new ideas, or the day’s herowork.
Then, before he knows it, he’s doing things more to cope than to help. To feel alive himself, than to help others stay alive.
He scoffs. Cope. People always seem to ask how he’s coping. Even people who he knows loves him. May. Pepper. Happy. It makes him angry that they just don’t get it.
As if anyone can just, cope. Just move on. As if he can ever forget that moment the blue light snuffed out.
They all said he’s ‘honoring a great memory’, as if it’s consolation and he should be instantly cheered. Like, yeah, maybe that ought to have given him more of a purpose, but on some nights its… hard. Those nights, when the suit chafes and burns on his skin, when the night air becomes suffocating, when he would see yet one too many red-and-gold graffiti, a tribute—
Peter gulps down air and forces himself to calm down. He’s gotten quite good at that. He bites his lip and blinks.
Pathetic, he thinks, half joking, half bitter. Even after four months, he’s still stuck in this limbo. The brochures and guidebooks, they’re all a bunch of crap—because it didn’t get… hasn’t gotten… will never get better. It’s there, creeping up behind him when he least expects. It’s there, even after he’s learned to shove it beneath sarcasm and witty banter. It distills, condenses, reverberates; sometimes overwhelms.
It’ll take three days for the field to recharge and re-align itself. Three days to spend in this strange alternate dimension, this less-swanky version of his New York, with dirtier air and heavier clouds, but also more people, more hustle and bustle, more energy.
But no… him. Never him. Peter’s looked. He’s been to six other universes already.
No him.
He turns and leans his forehead against the cool glass. The dark inky surface dances and pulses with the city lights behind him.
“I miss you, Mr. Stark.” His breath fogs on the smooth pane. He has to try really fucking hard so his voice doesn’t crack.
He forces air into him, to push back the tightness.
“Please… let me find you.”
Silence answers him, like it always does.
The vibrations are what he notices first, passing through the concrete and stone and steel of the building’s bulk to tickle at his soles, like tremors in a spider’s web.
Peter tilts his head, feeling the stiff sinews of his neck crack and pop. He’s been staying in the same spot for an hour, he reckons.
Then the faintest of melodies reach him, and he realizes that the vibrations are music. Very loud music.
Somewhat groggy, Peter turns his head to look up, where the rest of the Empire State’s impressive height disappears into the gloom. He shrugs. Couldn’t hurt, he decides. Besides, the music is kind of good—unfamiliar and different in style, but good.
He webs and climbs the rest of the way up, still careful to avoid the cameras. As he gets closer to the top, he makes out burning beams of light poking into the sky. He makes out laughter and the din of conversation. He makes out cheers and applause and the click of cameras.
It’s a good thing the Building is a carbon copy of the one in his world, or someone would have found him by now. Peter swings and jumps expertly in the blindspots, and soon he’s just below the Observation Deck.
Where a party is in full swing.
Practically next to the Deck, now, Peter pokes his head over the railings, relying on his Sense to tell him where the crowds are thinnest. Tuxedoed men and elegant women are everywhere, laughing and chatting and dancing, glasses of champagne in their hands. They all seem to be converging on one side of the Deck, so Peter takes this chance to hop over the railings and shimmy his way up to the terrace above.
There must be close to a hundred people in attendance tonight. Peter thinks they must be either business people or entertainment people—he sees quite a few lavish dresses, blazing with colors and ostentatious display, looking not at all practical to move around in.
Peter wonders what the party is for. Then again he doesn’t really care. He occupies himself by observing the way the people move, the way they talk. The suit helps filter out the worst of the bright lights and sounds, and he sticks himself to a wall, just quietly watching.
It’s been so long since he’s been to a party. When was the last time?
Ah, that Stark Industries Charity Tony had roped him into attending, a few months before Thanos. ‘Pepper forced me to go so now I’m forcing you to go,’ the man had said, grinning. ‘Misery loves company, kid.’
That was a century ago.
Peter sighs. Maybe he’ll recognize some people here, he thinks, even if they’re not the people he wants to recognize. He’s already seen six incarnations of the Kardashians across as many universes, for example, and his mouth twitches in disgust at the thought of meeting a seventh. It makes him angry to think people like them exist across the multiverse, but not the warm, sarcastic voice he hears in his dreams, or the hand he wants to feel ruffling his hair after missions, saying, ‘good job, kid’.
He brushes his thoughts away.
Well, guess what? Life doesn’t work the way you want. Suck it up, Parker.
A round of thunderous applause drowns out his thoughts. Peter huffs. Another celebrity has probably just arrived; either that, or some kind of speech is about to start. He couldn’t care less, either way. Someone clears their throat
“Hello, hello!”
Peter almost falls off the antenna. His head whirls to pinpoint the voice, a ship homing in to the beam of a lighthouse. He yanks off his mask, and the world assaults him with information and sound and light, and his heart rate skyrockets to probably over 150, pounding relentless at his temples. He ignores all that. They don’t matter. He doesn’t matter. He fixes his gaze in the direction where most of the applause is coming from.
All that matters is the voice, that voice, his voice—Peter holds his breath, throat throttled, his mind a potpourri of fleeting words and formless thoughts and disbelief and disbelief and disbelief. And beneath it all… a hint of what strays dangerously close to hope.
“Thank you, thank you all so much for coming!”
It’s him. It’s got to be him. The timbre, the confidence, the hidden smirk. The warmth.
Peter never ran so fast in his life. Ran, hopped, skipped. He could’ve thwhipped himself over, but his entire body was shaking and he didn’t trust his aim. He skids to a halt by the end of the terrace, panting hard even though the short sprint should’ve been like a casual stroll to his enhanced body.
He hesitates a split second. Then he looks down—
It’s him It’s him It’s hIM IT’s HIM IT’S HIM. He is here, he is in this universe. He is alive, alive, aliVE, ALIVE, ALIVE.
Peter crumples onto the floor, barely keeping enough wits about himself to rein in the volume of his gasping breaths. They came, and came, and came, wracking his thin wiry form, tsunamis of joy and relief, and still that disbelief. Abruptly he snaps his head up over the low concrete wall, terrified that the man would be whisked away if he so much as blinked, like a mirage, a hologram, another one of BARF’s cruel simulations.
And he’d lose him again.
But no. The man is still there, still present, right there. Talking. Laughing. Holding a champagne glass. He says a toast, mingles with some celebrities, takes a sip.
Peter laughs. It’s a quiet laugh, yet somehow hysterical. Half-deranged.
Seven worlds. Seven universes.
I found you, he thinks. I found you.
He thinks it so strongly, so violently, that he can almost imagine it hurtling across the air, louder than any shout or declaration.
I found you, Mr. Stark.
“Bye honey! Love you!”
Robert puts down his phone and smiles fondly in the direction of the Hamptons, invisible behind New York’s skyline and its pulsating, effervescent night. Just a short drive away, Susan and the kids are waiting for him, with the promise of pop tarts and a family movie night. No, nothing from the MCU… Exton’s in a bit of a Batman phase right now, and Avri idolizes her brother.
Hey, at least he’ll be watching a different billionaire superhero on screen for a change!
Robert chuckles and shakes his head. The whirlwind press tour ended not too long ago, and overall, he’s had a very good few days. It’s nice to finally have the chance to wind down and enjoy a well-earned meal or two with his friends and co-stars, not to mention a few (more than a few!) video calls with his family.
The din of the party grows louder behind him. He’s been able to excuse himself from the general hubbub with Susan’s phone call, and he breathes in the night air, not exactly in a hurry to get back. He’s always loved the energy and goodwill coming from the fans, but eleven years and ten movies in, it’s both bittersweet and incredibly satisfying to have completed his journey in such a way. This fundraiser ball will be the last official engagement for him in quite a while, and he’s looking forward to the peace and quiet (not that things are ever that quiet with a 7-year-old and a 4-year-old).
A small voice pipes up from behind him.
“M-Mr. Stark?”
Robert snorts. No rest for the wicked, it seems. All the same, he turns around and cocks an eyebrow, stepping effortlessly into character. A trivial kindness on his part can be the highlight of someone else’s day, so why not play Tony for a little while longer?
“Alright, you found me,” he says with a quick shrug. The light from the skyscraper’s spire blinds him temporarily, and he can only make out the shadow of a figure. “And you are? Come on, step forward.”
The figure remains frozen. Robert squints. It’s a man, he thinks—not very tall (which is saying something, coming from him), and built rather strong. Probably one of the younger guests at the ball.
He beckons again. He knows how to deal with star-struck fans. “Come on,” he says, this time letting a bit of warmth into his voice. “I’m not gonna fire a missile at you. Unless you’re secretly from HYDRA?”
The young man is trembling, Robert notices—so violently that, even with a good ten feet’s distance and his silhouette darkened by backlight, the shiver is still apparent.
The actor shrugs. Sometimes fans get more than a bit overwhelmed; he’s not one to judge. He takes a step, still squinting, and hears a sniff. Ah, so they’ve probably seen Endgame, huh.
But then, finally, the person steps closer.
Robert’s mouth drops open. Then he beams. “Tom? I thought you’re in Mexico!” He strides forward, arms outstretched. “Should’ve given me a heads-up that you were dropping in!”
Tom is oddly silent, but Robert hears an unmistakable gasp as his arms wrap around the young man. There’s a split second pause, and then Tom is hugging him back, almost uncomfortably tight.
“Woah there,” Robert says, taken aback. “Press tour that bad, huh?”
Tom doesn’t answer. He’s still trembling. Robert frowns at the texture at his fingertips.
“Is that—” he looks down, and laughs. “Did you smuggle that off set?”
Tom still doesn’t answer. Instead, he… whimpers. There’s no other word for it. He whimpers: a plaintive, tiny noise, halfway broken.
“Mr. Stark,” he croaks, and buries his face in Robert’s shoulder. Then, quietly, powerfully, he begins to sob.
Robert rubs his co-star’s tense heaving shoulders. For a prank scene, Tom is really giving it his all—tears are coming hard and fast, and already the fabric of his tuxedo is damp. You owe me a new suit, Robert thinks fondly as he settles into the rhythm of the shoot. He wonders where the cameras are at, and wonders where they’ll use this footage; maybe on the press tour for Far From Home?
He expects someone to shout And Cut from the sidelines. Tom just hasn’t stopped crying, and his grip is tighter than ever. But then a full minute passes, and all he hears is the buzz of conversation back from the party, and the occasional whistling wind, and Tom’s quiet, devastated sobs.
Surreptitiously he glances around. He’s been in the industry long enough to know every possible camera angle they can surprise him with, and… he doesn’t see a camera. Not even a drone.
This is him, Robert realizes with a pang in his heart. Just him.
He hasn’t seen this kind of panic in the young actor ever since the early days of Spider-Man’s inception into the MCU, and even back then, Tom had certainly never just… broken down, like this. Robert doesn’t ask about why he’s here at the party, why he’s in costume, and a million other questions that demand answers. Those can come later.
“Hey,” he says, gently brushing the young man’s hair. “Hey, hey. It’s okay, buddy.”
“I’m sorry,” Tom gasps. “I-I’m s-sorry, Mr. Stark.”
Robert frowns. He double and triple-checks that there really is no camera, before his gaze comes back to the boy in his arms. It makes no sense. Why would Tom not drop character? Yet the emotions seem so genuine.
“Do you want to go inside for a bit and talk?” Robert offers finally, unsure again whether or not this whole thing is a prank.
Tom seems to consider for a moment, before he nods. Almost sheepishly he steps away from Robert, still sniffling. He takes a shaky breath, visibly steadying himself.
“I’m so, so sorry, Mr. Stark,” he says, glancing at his feet. “I… I guess I’m called Tom in this dimension but I…” he trails off.
Robert’s frown deepens. Before he can further question his young co-star, though, his phone buzzes, and out of habit he slips it out of his pocket.
It’s a message. From Tom.
[Tom Holland]: just wrapped up press tour in Mexico!
[Tom Holland]: heard u’re on the last leg too, Boss Man, so congrats
[Tom Holland]: oh and jake says hi
[Tom Holland]: see u stateside! say hi to susan & the kids for me :)
[Tom Holland]: Sent a photo.
Robert swipes his phone open. It’s a photo of Tom and Jake, making the webshooting motion as they enter the airport gates, a crowd of fans behind them. Robert blinks. He lifts his gaze.
Tom is in front of him, in costume, head still lowered.
He looks down at his phone. Double-checks the time-stamp.
Tom is in Mexico. About to fly.
Robert feels dizzy. He looks back and forth between the two Toms, then focuses his attention on the Tom who’s here. He reaches out and touches his cheeks, trying to see if there’s make-up or even a face mask. Tom lifts his head at the contact. His eyes are red and twinkling still. His face is entirely real.
“Who… are you?” Robert asks in a whisper.
“I’m, I-I’m Peter,” the young man stammers. “Peter Parker.” He looks on the verge of tears again. “Mr. Stark, you have no idea, I just—I’ve been to so many dimensions and—”
“I’m not Mr. Stark,” Robert says, numbly. He pinches a cheek, his own this time. It hurts. It’s real. “My name is Robert.”
Not-Tom looks as if he’s about to say something when he blinks. A split second later, he leaps up—ten feet, easy—over Robert, over the balcony, and over the railings.
Robert’s heart almost stops. He rushes to the edge of the Deck, and looks down in stunned horror.
The young man hasn’t fallen. Instead, he is plastered to the side of the building—no wires, no safety harness, no equipment of any kind. Just… sticking.
Robert blinks. Blinks again. His mind is blank.
Not-Tom seems to sense something, and looks up. Their eyes meet. Not-Tom gives him a small, grateful smile.
“Robert?”
Robert jumps. He whips around to see Gwyneth, who happens to be at this event.
“Oh hey,” he says. He gulps even though his mouth feels dry. “Hey.”
Gwyneth smiles. “You were taking so long they sent me to find you. Everything fine back home?”
“Uh, yeah! Of course, of course.”
“Good to hear. Come on, they’re waiting for your speech.”
And with that, she’s already moving away.
Robert breathes out. He casts one last look over the railings.
Not-Tom is still there, clinging to the building. Peter is still there. The boy hasn’t looked away, and upon catching Robert’s gaze, his eyes shine.
“Wait for me,” Robert blurts out. “I want to talk to you.”
Peter’s eyes widen. Then he nods.
“Okay.”

When you are offered a survey, you know that you do get approved for it. There's no, time sucking, certification procedure. There's no disqualification. This is just one of the only websites I have seen where that holds true. You can join from, more or less, all countries, but it's only actually worth it if you reside in one of the English-speaking countries. People from other countries will simply not get enough surveys to ever have the ability to get to the payment threshold. You need to make $15 to be able to cash out. You can receive remuneration using PayPal.
4. The PrizeRebel Site
PrizeRebel is the favorite paid survey website of many people. It pays fairly well compared to many various other websites of this type, and you can additionally, earn rewards in various other ways. As an example, make money for reading short articles, or replying to various other kinds of offers. The more involved you are, the more benefits you can get. There are also bonus offers to further incentivize your activity on the website. You can get paid utilizing PayPal, or you can choose between many different gift card options. The remuneration threshold is only five dollars. That is very easy to reach on the PrizeRebel website. You can sign up with PrizeRebel from a lot of nations. However, as it is with the majority of these websites, the amount of opportunities to earn rewards you can come across can vary from country to country.
5. Opinion Pioneer Surveys
Opinion Pioneer is in the group of the more recent paid research websites. It's very straightforward, in my opinion. It pays decently for the consumer research studies that you take. You actually can see your possibilities of qualifying prior to you even starting any surveys. If you end up not being eligible, you can additionally get a little cash benefit for that too. It is among the highest paying survey websites that you can sign up with and, it can be used by individuals in a lot of countries. That said, if you reside in an English speaking country, one of the European countries, or a UAE country then you are likely to find an Opinion Pioneer survey for which you can qualify. Once you have actually made at the very least $10, you can get compensated using Paypal. Alternative settlement options may be offered in the near future.
6. SurveyTime Surveys
The next website in this survey is SurveyTime. With this website you get one buck per cpnsumer research study no matter the length of the survey. The typical survey duration is between 1 to 15 minutes. You get paid as soon as you have completed the survey, no matter the country you reside in. It is among the fastest paying websites due to the fact that you do get your profits quickly. That said, some individuals enjoy this website yet, some individuals despise it. Some participanrs have mentioned that they never got paid. It is suggested that, if you are interested in this website, take a survey. If the experience pleases you then continue to make use of it, however if otherwise, then go on to another choice.
7. User Interviews
The User Interviews has both surveys as well as focus group studies. It's very different than the majority of the various other options. They do actual personal meetings, so you have to be available at the scheduled time. You will require a cam as well as a microphone. Just the common stuff readily offered on smartphones, many laptop computers, and desktops. They pay well. As an example, there just recently was a survey that paid 2 hundred dollars and took 45 minutes, another one for fifty dollars and it took one hour, and yet another one for forty dollars that took 30 minutes to finish. You will have to get approved for the ones that you want. They are very particular concerning the people that they are trying to find, yet, if you do make the cut, then you can find some really high-paying consumer research studies on this website. These are some of the better paid survey websites. To find even more web links to websites like these and extra web links to various other businesses immediately hiring individuals for web jobs have a look at The Online Sidehustle Guide. https://surveysthatactuallypay158.blogspot.com/2022/09/surveys-that-actually-pay.html Surveys That Actually Pay Paid Surveys at Home Paid Surveys https://persianrugrepairvista637.blogspot.com/2022/09/persian-rug-repair-vista_0571314206.html https://rholloway082.tumblr.com/post/695938957497827328/persian-rug-repair-vista https://persianrugrepairvista591.blogspot.com/ https://persianrugrepairvista591.blogspot.com/2022/09/persian-rug-repair-vista.html https://lz524271.tumblr.com/post/695907603873677312/persian-rug-repair-north-tust

Chocolate Nut and Seed Bars
In my twenties I wanted so badly to own a bakery. A few failed lease attempts (thank God) led to a wholesale granola company that I kept working away at because, well, that’s my personality. I work away at things. I know a lot of people romanticize entrepreneurship and I get it: you’re working for yourself, setting your own hours, and presumably following your dream. But as small businesses grow, what often happens is the reason you were so excited to start the business in the first place (for me, baking and interacting with my community) gets lost in the mires of bookkeeping and lawyers and vendor contracts and hiring and firing. The dream can get lost.
I remember three or four years ago I was invited to a lunch at The Pantry geared towards people who wanted to start a food business. I was there with a few other local business owners, and all the participants could ask questions that we’d each take turns fielding. There was midday wine and beautiful springtime salads and, it turns out, tough questions. One of the women asked where we see ourselves and our business in five years. Not a crazy question. In fact, a pretty common and even a good question, so I was shocked to feel my eyes welling up and my face become hot. When I thought about my business in five years, I couldn’t see a thing. I saw a black hole. And when I thought about myself? I saw a mother. I wanted to have a family.
This was the first time I’d had this realization. I wasn’t one of those women that pretended to be a mommy when I was a little girl or pined for motherhood throughout college. But in realizing that my dream with Marge Granola was feeling like it was coming to an end point, I was worried that — as I tiptoed into my late 30’s — another dream would, too. Sam and I started trying to get pregnant soon after and today Oliver is downstairs singing Old Macdonald with his Aunt Christa after begging me for a second piece of toast with “buttah” and waving to the garbage man from the living room window.
After selling Marge in October, everyone asked me, “What’s next?” While I didn’t know the specifics, I knew that I wanted to work for someone else. I was ready to no longer work for myself. Years ago, I’d fought against the idea of a more traditional career path with everything I had. Maybe it’s because my Dad’s a staunch entrepreneur and I admire and love that about him. Maybe it’s because I found my own success in that lifestyle, which is affirming and validating. But today, with a small singing Oliver in the house and time to think about my next move, I know it’s time for more stability. That’s the season we’re in now.
So next week I start a new job! A real job. I’ve been excited to tell you all about it. I’ll be working over at Simply Recipes as the Director of Sales and Marketing. They’re based here in Seattle, so it’ll be a legit desk job which I haven’t had in many, many years (and yes, it has had me slightly reevaluating my current wardrobe of Madewell jeans + Birkinstocks day in and day out).
My friend Tara once said to me years ago as we were headed out on a walk: “You know the hardest part about freelancing? You have to work so hard to find the work.” That stuck with me, deeply, for years. I’m tired of working so hard just to find the work (I know all my freelancing homies feel me on some level);  Now, I’m ready to stop looking and hustling to drum up work, and settle in and spend all of my time doing the work.
What does this mean for the blog? Don’t worry. I’m continuing with the site; I can’t imagine giving up the blog after so many years of checking in with you, and sharing recipes and photos. But to be honest I’ll need a little time to settle into my new role. I know many of you are inspired by the quicker weeknight meal ideas, and I’d love to start sharing a few healthy dinners we’ve been making lately that fuel us, so I’ll plan for that. And of course on the brink of berry season, there will likely be baking! Sharing quicker, more impromptu content is always easier on Instagram, so if you’re not following along over there, that’s a great place to connect, too.
So I’ll see you back here soon-ish. With new stories of commutes, and the balancing acts of full-time employment, motherhood, cooking, gardening, summering, dreaming, and doing good work. I can’t wait.
Pin recipe Print recipe
These grain-free bars are refined-sugar free and full of flavor, thanks to the toasted almonds, pecans, cashews and handful of different seeds. As long as you keep the proportions the same, you can use any nuts or seeds you like here — a great excuse for a good old fashioned pantry clean-out. The bars are great as is or, for an elevated approach, the chocolate drizzle feels pretty special.
Ingredients
For the Bars:
1 cup (145g) toasted almonds
3/4 cup (82g) raw pecans
3/4 cup (97g) raw cashews
1/2 cup (70g) raw pepitas
3 tablespoons sesame seeds
1/4 cup (30g) raw sunflower seeds
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon brown rice syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
For the Chocolate Drizzle (optional):
1/3 cup dark chocolate, optional
1/2 teaspoon coconut oil
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 325 F.
Grease an 8×8 inch square baking pan with butter (or coconut oil) and line with parchment paper, leaving a 1-inch overhang on two of the sides to help with removing the bars once they’re set.
In a medium mixing bowl, toss together the almonds, pecans, cashews, pepitas, sesame seeds, and flax seeds.
In a small saucepan, warm the brown rice syrup, vanilla extract and kosher salt and stir until well combined.
Pour the wet mixture into the nut mixture and stir to coat. Quickly transfer to prepared pan. The mixture is sticky! My trick at this point is to quickly grease the back of a spatula and use it to press the mixture firmly and evenly into the pan in a nice even layer.
Bake for 20-22 minutes, or until the tops are just slightly golden (this can be tough to tell visually, so just trust that they firm up once cool). Allow bars to cool for at least 1 hour in the pan.
Once the bars have cooled completely, use the parchment paper as handles, lifting the bars out of the pan, and slice into 10 even bars (or 20 smaller squares).
In a small, microwave safe bowl, combine the chocolate and coconut oil and microwave on high until melted, 40-60 seconds (stir halfway through to ensure it doesn’t burn in spots). Dunk a teaspoon in the chocolate and use it to drizzle over each bar in a zigzag design.
Let the chocolate firm up before handling the bars, at least 25 minutes. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or in the fridge for 3-4 weeks.

BASIC.
FULL NAME. John Constantine NICKNAME. officially, Conjob, mostly from his days on the punk scene. On the esoteric side of things he may be referred to “The Laughing Magician” or, more derisively “a petty dabbler”. BIRTHDAY. May 10 (by original Hellblazer canon, he was born in 1953, but I’ve taken it upon myself to adjust his birth year to some time in the early 70s give or take) ETHNIC GROUP.  Caucasian NATIONALITY.  English (with strongly implied deep Russian roots) LANGUAGE.  English, basic grasp of most major European languages, profound fluency in dead/magical/infernal languages SEXUAL ORIENTATION. Bisexual af RELATIONSHIP STATUS. Verse/continuity dependent, though this blog is fairly heavily multi-ship. However, it should be noted that on the MCU continuity, John is in an exclusive, committed relationship with Matt Murdock ( @dcviltongued ) CLASS. Middle to lower class. Is very good at getting fast money (scams, gambling, dealing in magic artifacts/antiques of questionable quality and veracity) so may appear to be better off at certain times HOME TOWN / AREA. Liverpool, England, but has been living in London since leaving the family home at 17. CURRENT HOME. Heavily verse/continuity/thread dependent. John is a frequent traveller. PROFESSION. Somewhat verse/continuity dependent. Really it’s just a matter of whether or not he charges for exorcisms or magic rituals. My personal endgame for John is legitimacy. Like becoming a preternatural PI (and sometimes mundane) for hire or whatever. As a general rule though, his profession is con artist. He’s never worked a honest day’s work in his life. The closest he ever got was when he was a “rock star”. He could also be considered a professional gambler, patronizing horse tracks, underground card games, legal casinos, and I imagine can hustle at pool. Scams range from blackmail to using his reputation as an occultist to take advantage of people willing to pay for spell work.
PHYSICAL.
HAIR. Short and usually rather messy. He rocks bedhead pretty aggressively. May be shaved and very short on the sides and styled into a faux to actual mohawk. He’s very blonde despite not getting very much sun as a general.  EYES. Electric blue, often almost fever bright. Deep and captivating, extremely intense straight on. NOSE. difficult to pin down due to the range of styles in which John have been drawn. Usually broad and more or less regular, occasionally somewhat crooked from being broken, though by and large, it’s portrayed as straight. Some artists, such as Moriat and Sean Murphy have drawn it as narrow and somewhat aquiline. I guess, I tend lean toward the former despite my deep love for Murphy’s interpretation of John, simply because I feel like my choice in FC is somewhat based on Tim Bradstreet and Leonardo Manco’s artistic interpretations of John, both of which I honestly adore just as well. FACE. Yet another loooong explanation here, I’m sorry. Artists tend to lean between giving him either a square face, classically handsome appearance (Steve Dillon, John Higgins, Ron Tiner, most of artists that have drawn him in the DC titles he’s appeared in), a broader, more every man appearance (Sean Phillips, Leonardo Manco to some degree, though later proved quite capable of drawing him stunningly handsome, and Tim Bradstreet), however still attractive but somewhat more haggard, stubbled, and/or slightly seedy in appearance, and finally a sharper, more diamond shape to his face featuring high cheekbones, a pointed chin and fine bone structure (Sean Murphy, Marcelo Frusin, and Moriat). Once more, in reference to my face claim for John, I suppose I tend to favour a more classically handsome appearance, simply because I like the idea of him having a pleasant, almost trustworthy face given that he is a con artist and considered an extremely good one (sometimes even the greatest con artist alive but idk whatever), and I feel like looking as dodgy as say, Frusin’s interpretation, I can’t imagine him being as successful as he is, you feel me? That guy looks like he’ll fuck you over for a corn chip. LIPS. Sensuous, faintly lined from his his smoking habit COMPLEXION.  Like any good Englishman that tends to move about by night and quite a bit dressed, John’s very pale. I do think he has a faintly pronounced undertone of pink. This colour will get brighter when he gets drunk, aroused, angry, or the exceedingly rare instance that he’s embarrassed  BLEMISHES. None SCARS. Aside from the scarification, which is better off detailed in the next section, and I ALWAYS FORGET TO MENTION THIS, he definitely has a long scar over one eye from a demon trying to cut it out with a blade. Since many magic rituals call for blood, I head canon that he also has faint scarring on his arms because he doesn’t practice human or animal sacrifice and his own blood instead.
TATTOOS. Arse tattoo of pine tree courtesy of Swamp Thing being a punk bitch, ritual tattoos faded into appearing as scarification. HEIGHT. 511 (184.34 cm) WEIGHT: prolly ranges between 150-160lbs (140 at his lightest) BUILD.  Long legs, somewhat of a broad upper torso, can be a bit soft in the middle. In general, he’s rather thin but his musculature is not usually very defined. In other words, no big, sexy pecs or cut abs. If anything he’s more sleek lines and narrow planes. ALLERGIES.  none USUAL HAIR STYLE. Freshly fucked USUAL CLOTHING. Dark suits, usually dark blue or black and trench coat, usually tan, has also been portrayed as black, yellow, or a mossy kinda green. In theory it could be said that these aren’t just differing interpretations from artists but that John owns coats in different colours, styles, and fabrics, but his favourite is the tan, longer style
PSYCHOLOGY.
FEAR. abandonment, amounting to nothing, not being able to protect those he cares about ASPIRATION. survival, making some kind of mark on this world, a measure of contentment POSITIVE TRAITS. Compassionate and determined, above all. Though not about to admit to it, he's still deeply idealistic. Strangely forgiving. He doesn’t really keep grudges. Loving, considerate, understanding, and rarely judgmental  NEGATIVE TRAITS. Those good things up above? They’re encased in a shell of harsh cynicism and apathy. Depending on his mood or particular part of his life depends on how hard a shell he is to crack. He may also experience depressive periods where he doesn’t give a shit about anyone or anything and just wants to drink. VICE HABIT.  Chain smokes, drinks, frequency dependent on what’s up in his life, though I do not believe he’s an alcoholic, sorry, because lol look, drinking a lot doesn’t mean you have a dependency. Indulges in drugs infrequently, mostly hallucinogens and weed, though I also tend to head canon that he flirted with a cocaine habit while fronting Mucous Membrane.  FAITH.  It’s complicated GHOSTS? Duh. He sees them plain as any living person AFTERLIFE?  Yeah, but uh, he doesn’t consider them eternal respites. They’re just planes of existence that he can either enter, leave, or pull people out. REINCARNATION? Maybe? ALIENS? I meeeeaannn....technically in DCU he’s acquainted with the concept of aliens and may or may not have fucked Hal Jordan POLITICAL ALIGNMENT. Liberal ECONOMIC PREFERENCE. comfortable  SOCIOPOLITICAL POSITION. working class warlock EDUCATION LEVEL.  Predominately self-educated. His frightfully intelligent and has been cited as having genius level intellect. Although I’m not sure I’d go so far as confirm that, I do thing he’s extremely clever and pragmatic. School bored him to tears and he was the type of kid the counselors and teachers say “exceedingly bright but unwilling to apply himself”. He reads voraciously, has an eidetic memory, and isn’t afraid of putting himself in new situations.
FAMILY.
FATHER.  Thomas (dead, murdered by the Family Man) MOTHER.  Mary Anne (died in child birth) SIBLINGS.  Cheryl (murdered by husband, currently residing in Hell), an unnamed twin brother referred to as the Golden Child or Boy, the true heir to the Laughing Magician (stillborn, soul was later absorbed by John in trippy magic ritual, only to be expelled later in life when it was revealed that...uh...he was influencing John’s destiny to be perpetually sabotaged. Hellblazer’s a weird comic, you guys) EXTENDED  FAMILY.  Gemma, his niece. They have a rather stormy relationship. Chas, his best mate. Lovers may also be included in this. NAME MEANING. John: Jehovah has been Gracious/Shown Favour (lmao) Constantine: Constant, steadfast, generally referred to as “The Constant One”
HISTORICAL CONNECTION. Is strongly implied that John’s related, if perhaps distantly, to Constantine the Great.
FAVOURITES.
BOOKS.  Prefers non-fiction MUSIC. Rock music, most notably 70s and 80s era punk rock. Likes the Pogues. Given the stack of evidence that John skirts the edge of the Goth scene cos he likes the aesthetic on women, I have a feeling he’s adopted into his music tastes. The Cure, Smiths, and Cocteau Twins in reference to an 80s mixtape John might make. Which i question the Smiths heavily, but The Cure and Cocteau Twins seems fairly legit. I bet Kit loved the Cocteau Twins. In that same vein of thought, although I tend to think John doesn’t like electronic music, he may have adopted some industrial bands into his preferences but he’s not about to talk about ti any time soon. DEITY.  Whichever one doesn’t hate him HOLIDAY.  doesn’t care MONTH. same SEASON.  Fall PLACE.  London or New York, in the case of sentimentality that he will never be able to get back to, the years when he was bumming around Ireland with Brenden and Kit WEATHER. Overcast SOUND.  He’s a city boy through and through, even if he may get frustrated with society on a whole, so he’s comforted by city sounds more than silence SCENT.  A freshly poured pint, the first cigarette of the day, skin and sex sweat TASTE.  Gin FEEL. He’s a sensualist. Body to body, breathing another person’s breath, his please, another person’s pleasure, his pleasure, all that good stuff. I also feel like he enjoys being drunk or stoned for the sake of having his thoughts dulled to a degree. He’s the sort of man who has lots of thoughts and situational observational input. John is basically perpetually mentally overstimulated and he likes the relief from that in inebriation. ANIMAL.  Fox  NUMBER.  hahaha idea numerology man COLOUR.  warm and neutral tones
EXTRA.
TALENTS. So many. He’s a jack of all trades in a lot of ways. He can pick a lock, displays some artistic talent in that he can draw very intricate magic circles and sigils, if you consider that John wrote Venus of the Hardsell, he’s clearly got some ability to express himself in lyrics and words, i like to think he can play guitar, is apparently good with delicate craftsmanship (he used to help Dani build furniture for her dollhouses. This is canon by the way), suppose you could say he can sort of sing, but that’s debatable, and of course he’s very manipulative and speaks very well, is educated enough to be able to bullshit through various situations. TURN ONS. Total ass man, loves a great ass on a man or woman, dark hair, dark eyes, strong men, he’s a switch, but loves being manhandled and dominated to a degree, by either gender, honestly, danger, open affection, being wanted, loved, and cherished. So many things, honestly. John Constantine is easy. TURN OFFS.   Hardcore kink HOBBIES. Sleep, pub crawls, pretending he’s normal, reading TROPES. Con man with a heart of gold, charming bastard, unrepentant rogue, urban magician, supernatural detective, living legend AESTHETICS. smoke, chalk dust, wind and rain swept streets, London after midnight, narrow, dark alleys, haunted places, rumpled bed sheets, messy hair, dive bars, wicked smiles, deep kisses
FC INFO.

Friday Favs: What’s New in January
I know the month technically isn’t over, but it’s Friday, and I’ve recently acquired a few new favorite things that I can’t live without.... and the words "Friday" and "Favorites" are alliterative, and it’s just too perfect to pass up. Therefore, today's post, published on a Friday, will cover my recent favs; spanning from food to books to games to beauty. If you're looking for something new to check out - see if any of these float your boat!
New Fav Foods & Food Things:
I'm obsessed with Buddha Bowls. Bowls upon bowls upon bowls. I've literally eaten one every single day. What I love about them: I can combine all sorts of fun ingredients into a delicious, healthy meal, that's easy to pull together. It's also a great "kitchen sink" kind of meal where you can toss leftovers together and enjoy.
Tumblr media
I'm working on a variety of Buddha Bowl recipes for a new project of mine, so I'll share some of my favorites as I test them.
Chosen Foods Avocado Oil is the BEST. It's basically tasteless and has a super duper high smoke point, so I can use it for just about everything. It's also available at Costco, which is awesome, because then you know you're getting a solid deal. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who's into roasting as their main method of cooking (i.e. me)
Tumblr media
Super crispy oven fries are LIFE in our house. Check out my last post for the scoop on the how-to make the BEST oven fries. So simple, so easy and SO DELICIOUS. Also, of course made with @ChosenFoods Avocado Oil.
Tumblr media
New Fav Reads
Tools of Titans -  I haven't read this yet, but I'm REALLY excited too. I just picked it up and started flipping through it yesterday. Tim Ferris is a stakeholder in the entrepreneurial community, and I'm always interested to hear his thoughts on leadership, success, and productivity. I’m hoping to add this book to my list of January reads, so hopefully I’ll have a book review for you guys soon! Until then, you can grab your own copy, and let me know what you think!
The Couple Next Door - If you, like me, enjoy a suspenseful, twisty story, then I think you’d enjoy The Couple Next Door. It didn’t surpass my favorite thriller, Second Life, but it was captivating from the get go. I finished reading it in on one of our many snow days and am happy to share and discuss the book with you! You can also snag your own copy, and we can discuss!
Tumblr media
New Fav Listens
Side Hustle School [Podcast] - If we've ever talked about a side hustle, I'll almost always mention Chris Guillebeau, the World Domination Summit, and the $100 Startup. This podcast is his latest project, where he shares a daily story on his podcast, about someone, somewhere, who started a side hustle, took a leap of faith and is hustling their way to success. And the best part is that he doesn't promote the idea of "quitting your job and become an entrepreneur." Chris is realistic and honest in that sometimes a side hustle, is just that. A side hustle. And it can be as big or as small as you want.
Tumblr media
How I Built This [Podcast] - Another podcast to feed my wannabe entrepreneurial soul. NPR talks to numerous innovators and business owners on how they went from idea to full-scale business, and all that falls in between. It’s inspiring and motivating, and pretty darn interesting!
Tumblr media
New Fav Beauty Products
LipSense Lipgloss - One of my favorite people, my girl Blair, hooked me up with some new lipglosses called LipSense. They’re by the company Senegence and are known for their long lasting effects. Well let me tell you, it works! I rocked the color “Fly Girl” for one of my closest friend’s wedding on NYE, and I didn’t have to reapply once! I’m not one to swear by beauty products because let’s be real, I’m price sensitive, but this lipgloss is legit. If you want to learn more, let me know or check out @beauty_with_ Blair on Instagram!
Tumblr media
New Fav TV Shows
Greenleaf (OWN) - Let’s just say that Greenleaf is set in a world so far from what I know, that it’s beyond compelling, even though it's set in the US in the present day. The show revolves around the Greenleaf family, the head of the Calvary Church community and the inner politics of such a system. Faith, family, the politics... it all sucks you in. Oh, and ya know, Oprah is acting in it. My mom and I spent a solid few hours binge-watching the first half of the season, and we’re looking forward to catching up on the rest soon.
Tumblr media
Westworld (HBO) - It’s basically about the future, and what’s coming with advancements in virtual reality. Someone out there is going to build really intense, lifelike robots and then we’re going to pay to interact with them and then who knows what is going to happen. To be fair... I’ve only seen like two episodes. But it’s pretty compelling and sucks you in.
Tumblr media
That's it for this month, my friends. I hope you find something in here of interest, that’s new, and may become one of your own favorites. If you do, let me know all about it below!
What’s your new favorite things this month?

How’d Winston Do Last Night? 10/25
I AM SO BEHIND ON EVERYTHING I’M A GIANT FAILURE!!! OMFG
JK baybees and laydees! I am back to run down and reminisce about an insane night packed with three, COUNT EM, three shows in the comedy hub of Richmond, VA.
So after work my day started by running my PA over to Crossroads Coffee where Sarah Ahmed runs Beans Bits and Brews a monthly showcase/open mic! That show is always super fun and Sarah does a good job of curating a fun show/crowd. Sarah was actually one fo the first comics I ever met, and at my first show she was one of the people who placed in the competition with me! So I've known her for a long time, and always love seeing her!
After that I jetted over to The Camel which is run by Jameson Babbowski. Jameson is one of my favorite dudes to hang with, and I continue to enjoy watching him curate and run what is slowly but surely becoming my favorite open mic in the city.
I think I’m going to start calling him Jameson BadBoyski for no other reason than it’s not funny to anyone other than myself and I want it to stick. I get there and I get to see Francesca Lyn. She’s a comic and friend and wonderful comic book artist/creator who I unfortunately don’t get to see very often.
Then Bert “the Squirt” Martling, Rick “Paw Paw” Williams (I didn’t make that one up, that’s his actual nickname” and Paige Campbell show up, and now we’ve got a riff session started! We are all busting balls, chops, ovaries, etc. and having an amazing time. Bert had on an adorable Bill Cosby sweater, he can really pull off that look.
At the beginning of the show it was a pretty light crowd. Honestly the lightest I’ve seen there. I went up and did about 7 minutes of the newer stuff I’m trying to hash out. As I did my set more people came in, so they missed parts of the joke, but only one joke got no response. Not a great set by any means but productive.  I’d give this set a C- to a C.
After this I jetted off to start my weekend at the Richmond Funny Bone Hosting for Leonard Ouzts (Conan/netflix/wildnout/Master of None etc) and Eva Evans (Hustle in Brooklyn).
The Richmond Funny Bone is my home club. It is the first place I ever did standup. My first set was there for their monthly comedy contest “Clash of the Comics”!  I had never done standup before, and luckily had a good set and won the competition against some people I really respect and who would go on to later be some of my best friends in comedy.
With that said, it is in no way an easy room. It is an urban room, and on some of the off nights when the room is comped out (given free tickets) and not full it is almost like the audience could not give less of a shit about what is happening. Hosting isn’t easy anyway. It’s the worst gig in all of comedy, and is a hell of a skill to have.  Being able to go up in front of a cold room, train them into a comedy audience, keep the show going, give the announcements, introduce comics, get their credits right, and close the show. It is super unfun. If you have a good set as a host it is a bonus.
I have struggled a lot in this club, but also it has taught me a ton and I definitely feel like it has helped me be prepared for any room or audience.  So this club is my home, but my home is brutal, unforgiving, and a proving ground.
SO WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY. OH BOY DID I BOMBALOMBBBB!!!!
This was one of those sets where every other joke works. Which is worse than just bombing in some ways, because when every joke works it gives the illusion of hope. You have a joke hit and you’re like oh dope I’ve got this, and then one bombs and you’re like SHITTT BACK TO SQUARE ONE! So that is how my set went. It was like a pendulum between good feelings and total despair.
I’d give my set a D-
That crowd wanted crowd work. That’s what a lot of the crowds in that club want. I’ve always been taught the host should never set the tone for the show. A host shouldn’t do crowd work, or be super dirty. It is up to the feature and the headliner if this will be a crowd work or dirty show. My job is to be a host just like at a party, and rarely at the party is the host having the most fun.
My point was proven when Eva had a pretty rough feature set as well and actually got off stage a little early. She didn’t go into the crowd, and they didn’t seem to enjoy material either. Leonard went up and immediately started doing crowd work. He used the first 15 minutes of his set to get them where he wanted before we started his material. It was super impressive and he killed.
After closing the show I got in my car to head to Crossroads to finish my night on their open mic. The crowd there was a little dead. All the comics who went before me said they just couldn’t get any life into the crowd.
I got to see some of my buddies Alex Castagne, Kat Malone, Bert Martling and Rick Williams again. It was a fun hang just busting balls and enjoying the weird vibe of the crowd.
They were using my PA and it had started to tilt and the one speaker looked like it was Michael Jackson swaying to one side. It was legit about to fall and was being held up by the cord. I was dying laughing because my PA dropping and breaking would be the perfect ending for this night.
I went up and actually did well. My new stuff did well and connected and it immediately erased the bad set from earlier. I didn’t kill, but I was told it was one of the best sets of the night and that felt good to hear at the end of a show on the open mic portion. I’d give my set a C+. Productive and fun af.
I chilled and hung out with some friends for a bit then headed out. I got McDonalds and gorged myself. All in all not a bad night, but the Funny Bone set definitely put some questions in my mind. I won’t lie I think about quitting comedy all of the time. I feel like I’m wasting my time, and could be using it to further my education and fully focus on my teaching job. This was one of those nights. I’m 3.5 years in and I know I don’t know everything, but this night felt like the beginning of the end. Fortunately I’ve got really good/supportive friends who are making this journey easier.
I love you baybees and laydees! xoxoxo I’ll see you all real soon.
