like? Falin didn't enjoy being at magic school. She had all of one friend who was a teacher that continues to act like she's not a grown ass woman half the time capable of making her own decisions. SHe skipped class most of the time to go hang out in a cave. Her classmates frienquently shit talked about her in hearing range.
Her brother who she loves a whole lot who gets her better than just about anyone else that she hadn't seen in years turned up emaciated and filthy and was surprised that she decided to go back with him when he was just dropping by to say hello.
But sure, he forced her to drop out of school and hang out with him being near homeless and starving and working odd jobs often without pay. Clearly, it wasn't like she could have left him at any point it was not like he had any means of keeping her with him against her will.

i go absolutely wild for genderbends in the right context. certain kinds of genderbends make me extremely happy. but the issue is that i'm also very picky so i will look at like 99% of genderbends and get mad at them bc they suck and are bad. but that last 1% which are actually good........ unbeatable. y’know. so i continue dredging through the crap because occasionally i find a diamond in there................

anyway I didn't enjoy Nier Automata nearly as much as I thought I would. The grief and loss felt in the last act of the game at first pushed me to forward, but eventually I felt like it stopped having any meaning to the narrative, that it was loss for the sake of loss. At the end these characters have nothing to fight for. However the narrative to me didn't feel like it spent time dealing with that. I'm okay with a story circling around the concept of what to fight for when all is gone, but I don't actually see the characters themselves struggle with this in a conclusive way. Ending C definitely deals with this the best, indicating that 9S is left unmoored from a purpose and lays down his sword. But for the most part a lot of conclusive meanings to be drawn from the overall narrative just feels more coincidental. Like Nier Automata had a lot of cool ideas without really knowing what it wanted to say about them. I actually enjoy ending A and B the most, ending on a hopeful note on the future between these two, ultimately the same, factions. With the concept of 9S living in a robot body going forward. I don't mind a good tragic story, but Nier Automata made me feel overall like 'damn if all that happened would that be sad and fucked up or what?'
