Blaine's drawn to a woman on the run from some very bad guys (tm). Taking refuge in Seattle might have been the best thing Catherine could have done--or the worst choice of her life.

Blaine Mcdonough is dead, for all intents and purposes. But the night that she walks into his place, he almost feels…resurrected.

From his post behind the bar, through the throng of the Friday night crowd at The Scratching Post, he spots her the minute she slips through the door.

She has big, dark eyes, the kind that you usually only see on cartoon princesses and fear-stricken prey. She has long, dark hair that has been plastered to her cheeks by the Seattle-grade torrent that rages outside. She has curves in all the right places—or, she would, if she didn’t look damn near starved. The overhead lights, even as dim as they are, reflect off the hollows of her collarbones. Blaine has never wanted to bite into a shadow so much in his whole damned life—or unlife.

He waits. For an hour, she stays on the perimeter of the room, simply circling as though she is getting the lay of the land. He watches her, always in his peripheral vision, as he mixes drinks and flirts with customers and lights cigarettes (in defiance of local indoor smoking ordinances). Hell, half his customers can’t even taste the smoke they’re inhaling. One of the downsides of being on team Z.

By the time she makes her way to the bar, Blaine is on pins and needles—and as much annoyed as he is intrigued. She’s human. He can tell because she smells like heaven; full of life, vital and red and tempting. She’s giving off a million tiny volts of electricity, and he inhales deeply of a different scent—like the ozone that had saturated the air before the storm outside. Her heartbeat is strong and fast and chaotic, the sound so loud in his ears that he almost forgets to say anything to her when she leans her elbows on the bar.

He realizes, a few awkward beats later, that she has said something to him.

“Sorry,” he mutters, shaking his head. “Get you a drink, sweetheart?”

She shakes hers back at him. “I don’t drink.”

He pushes off the back counter, leaning his own elbows on the railing behind the bar so they are face to face. There are subtle flecks of gold in her dark-brown irises. Her clothes are not autumn-in-Washington clothes. She’s not wearing a coat. “What are you doing in a bar, then, honey?”

One slim shoulder lifts. Her eyes slide away from his, a loss he feels almost physically. “I’m looking for a job.”

Blaine straightens. “Not the kind we’re hiring for here.”

“How do you know?”

He barks out a laugh, his eyes trailing to one of his girls, working the crowd. He spreads one hand theatrically. “Do you know what kind of bar this is?”

“I do. But I’m best behind the bar, not on my back. You have expired almond cream liquor on your shelf there”—she points to a bottle behind him—“I can tell by how cloudy it is in the bottle. Gross.”

He glances over his shoulder at the bottle indicated, frowning. She continues.

“Your second bartender is pouring heavy ounces for his friends and has been for two rounds. And even though your well brand is cheap, I know how you could get cheaper. So as the owner of this bar, and I assume you are the owner based on your outfit, I think you should hire me and save your reputation and some money.”

“That was a cute spiel," he says flatly, "but tell me why you would want to work in a place like this. It’s dangerous. You smell like dinner, kitten.”

“Because,” she replies as flatly as he had, “I’ve been in worse places with worse people. And I need work, not the third degree.” There’s a flash in her eyes as she says it, and it makes something in his gut twist.

She's looking for a place to hide.

There’s a story, and Blaine finds that he desperately wants to hear it.

As she leans there, he turns his head to see his second bartender—Steve—letting the metal ounce measure fountain over into a rocks glass in a move so smooth that, had this mystery princess not pointed it out, Blaine would have missed the grift entirely. A low, deep growl rumbles in his chest.

“What’s your name?” he shouts over the music.

“Catherine,” she shouts back.

Catherine. Kitty. It makes him smile.

“Come back tomorrow, kitten. Before opening. I won’t tell you what time that is, and hours ain’t posted, but you seem like a smart kid.”

She nods. “Tomorrow.”

Then, she stands, pushing off of the bar, and melts back into the crowd. Blaine sees the door open when she leaves, and the heavy smell of rain wafts into the room.

He licks his lips.

Tomorrow.

How many works do you have on ao3?

96 on my main and 22 on my secondary, but i've orphaned at least another, idk, 60? over the years, and there's some fics lost to the chasm of time that is livejournal and prior out there to never be found again.

What’s your total word count?

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

then you'll wake up, your left hand man, pocketful of sunshine, only by chance, when there's no ground. all are shadowhunters/mortal instruments fic, which is a surprise to exactly no one.

Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?

i do initially, and then i am terrible for not replying after a certain time which is something i'm working on. it's entirely an anxiety thing, and very silly, but if i don't answer right away i feel like it's too late? idk, i'm trying to be better at it.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

i'm not known for my angst, let's be honest, so i'm going to put end of eras (haunting of hill house, luke & nell) here because it's hohh, angst is a given, and also mayyyyybe still my heart this moment and tell me you'll remember (both glee, sam/blaine) which also deal with character death but, like? in a not totally sad way? one's ghosts and one's immortality/reincarnation soooo. i think they count.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

as a happy ending truther, this could apply to practically all of them, but let's go with be in my book (bridgerton, penelope/benedict) which is about as fluffy a fic as they come.

Do you write crossovers?

i used to, back in the wild old days of comment ficathons and crossover comms on lj, but i haven't in years. definitely would, just would have to really think it through now.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

once that i can think of, which was very silly and obviously sent by someone who was deliberately reading fic they weren't going to enjoy.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i have been known to, on very rare occasions. my most recently posted fic is actually 911 buck/tommy smut (find peace in the noise) which i wrote almost entirely because of the group chat. it's not necessarily my go-to, but if the mood strikes.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

yes.

yes, a couple.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

not in years, but i used to co-write a lot with a friend in the lj days. i'm not fantastic at co-writing, if only because i am useless with time management.

What's your all-time favourite ship?

i'm not sure i have an answer to this. i sort of just collect ultimate otps and store them and they pile up, so i don't have just one. some i come back to more often than others, but i've definitely been in too many fandoms to have any less than a dozen.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

oh boy, yeah, any? all? i am notoriously bad about this. if i don't write a fic to completion and then post it, the chance of it getting finished are nil. i have one wip on my ao3 (build it better (the second time around), the order, knights poly) that i started before the second season had aired, and every part of me wants to finish it but...we'll see. maybe one day. the part written docs on my computer for dozens of other fics though? coin toss.

What are your writing strengths?

i think i'm pretty good at characterisation. i like how i write dialogue. i think i'm able to say a lot in few words. other than that, who knows. i have a blast with it most the time? that's definitely a strength.

What are your writing weaknesses?

actually sitting down and writing, let's be honest. but otherwise, long fic and plotting are definitely not things i'm great at. i'm trying to get better at extending my word count, but detailed plots still largely elude me.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i try not to, as i am - alas - a lazy english speaker who never picked up another language remotely fluently. and no one trusts online translation tools.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

either buffy or hp, i can't remember exactly.

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

i am currently working on some jack/kent (check please) fics (finally - they are one of the dozen that fits into that otp question), which feels terrifying because i love them so much. i also have a couple of stranger things fics i'm thinking about.

i'm notorious for dropping one fic in a fandom and then nothing else ever again, so i'll write for pretty much anything.

What's your favourite fic you've written?

though the truth may vary (shadowhunters, simon/raphael). (i actually started an author's favourites series on ao3 a while back which felt huge, and i've only put four fics in it, oops.)

1. How did you get into writing fanfiction?

ive been into writing for years before i got into fanfiction specifically so i guess just from reading fanfiction i guess, but if you want a longer story, i got more interested in writing from roleplaying on amino and got into fanfiction because the fandom i was in at the time got OBSESSED with this one popular work and i just HAD to check it out

2. How many fandoms have you written in?

officially, my ao3 account only has glee works rn but i do have a 911 fic im working on and i do want to venture into more fandoms, but i don’t really have the confidence to do so yet

3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

i’ve been trying since 2020 to be more of a fanfic writer but never actually got anything solid until 2023 so 1-4 years depending on how you see it

4. Do you read or write more fanfiction?

definitely read im a slowass writer and part of that is because im too busy reading fanfiction instead of writing

5. What is one way you've improved as a writer?

overall in the years i’ve been a writer, i feel like i’m better at portraying characters as well rounded and creating characters that aren’t just one stereotype. when it comes to my time as a fanfic writer, im better at writing actual scenes rather than just random narration

6. What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

the probability of survival when falling from certain heights. also ohio the glee writers were cruel for making their show based in fucking ohio of all places

7. What's your favorite type of comment to receive on your work?

i’m honestly not picky i love all types of comments, but if i really had to choose, it’d probably be any that point out a specific part or line or whatever in my writing. it makes me so happy when people have some detail stick with them

8. What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?

i honestly haven’t done anything too intense in my writing i think the most out there i’ve gotten is just emotional infidelity and that’s just standard for seblaine. i do plan on killing blaine in one wip of mine, but it’s just an idea for now because i’ve got other shit to focus on

9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write?

longer stories are literally impossible for me. i absolutely SUCK at writing anything longer than a couple thousand words and even that is hard for me. smut is also hard but that’s because i haven’t bothered to write smut, so different vibes

10. What is the easiest type?

well if you see how many hurt no comfort fics i’ve published it’s obvious fluff is what i’m best at. but yeah short vignette angsty stories are super easy for me to write. it’s just 50% projection and 50% exaggeration and 100% gay, so no problem there

11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

i often write at home, on my notes app, at any point of the day, and i post all my stuff on ao3. i will sometimes edit on my laptop on google docs, but i get lazy too and so my latest fics have been mostly raw and unedited.

12. What is something you've been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

smut and literally any ship that isn’t seblaine and also longer works. i’d love to be one of those writers who comes out with these multi chapter masterpieces but i’m just not right now. i’ve had ideas for other ships too, but i never really flesh them out because they’re usually stuff that would span across thousands of words and i don’t have the time, energy, nor skill level to do that yet. and again, for smut, i just never bother, and while i think im never going to be the explicit sex scenes type of writer, i love the angst potential of it

13. What made you choose your username?

acedisgrace is a name i’m like 85% sure i saw a joke about from a stolen tumblr post on instagram and i was like hey im asexual and a disappointment haha what if i change my discord name to that and then eventually when i got an ao3 account, i just went with it because i saw it was available there too. as for calsvoid, they’re my initials and i spew whatever bullshit i want on tumblr and also i wish i didn’t have a body and instead was an amorphous blob of nothingness

how many works do you have on ao3?

I only have 10 on ao3, I originally started writing on fanfiction.net in like 2011 or something, and no one will ever get that username out of me lol I would've deleted the account but I don't want to be the kind of fic writer that deletes things just because I'm not proud of them anymore.

I used to cross-post everything from ao3 on there because it's the roots of why I enjoy fanficiton, but I don't anymore, mostly because it's a lot of work and I get frustrated with not being able to tag things + having to write super short summaries.

2. what's your ao3 word count?

currently at 345,703 & will be at about 400k when I finish posting my wip

3. what fandoms do you write for?

Glee, and it's surprisingly always been Glee. That's taken different forms over the years, like there were several years where I wasn't posting anything and was just doing some silly little instagram rp with some great friends I made. But Glee is how I discovered fanfiction in the first place, and it's consistently been the one fandom I feel connected enough to write this much about.

I have dabbled in other things over time - wrote a Girl Meets World fic I never finished, got really into some teen shows like Pretty Little Liars, 90210, Gossip Girl, etc. when I was a teenager. But I've pretty consistently only posted glee fics.

5. do you respond to comments? why or why not?

Yes, I try to respond to every comment unless it's super short/I have nothing to say. I usually try to avoid spoilers, and I generally like to treat comments more as my opportunity to make friends/chat with readers about the characters/the ship/the plot.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Definitely 11:11, it's a canon compliant one shot about slushy-gate which basically just involves Sebastian and Blaine both independently being angsty about everything that went down and wondering what went wrong in their friendship, and by the time Sebastian comes around and apologizes, it's too late.

Some of my other one shots don't necessary have happy endings, but they do have optimistic endings, so I think 11:11 is the only one that counts as straight up angst.

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I think Something More - don't wanna spoil it, but I think that's the nature of writing a fic where the characters are a little older and you can just feel that the happy ending is permanent, rather than when they're teenagers and happy endings can be very short lived.

8. do you get hate on fics?

Not really, and I can be kinda sensitive lol so I'm glad I don't.

Most of the time if I do get hate, it's not criticizing me as a writer but rather criticizing the way the characters are behaving (which I guess is a reflection of me as a writer because sometimes it's because they don't like the way I've written characters), but I can move past that pretty easily because I realize everyone has different head canons, especially for characters like Sebastian who get like less than 10 episodes of canon screen time.

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?

Not really? I mean, some of the things I've written toe the line between smut and fade to black (like How Bright We Burn, For Real This Time, & The Way I Loved You, mostly) but I like to think I do so in a way that is way more focused on feelings and emotions than what body part goes where. Even in How Bright We Burn where sex is like a very big part of their arc, most of the way you know what's going on is from Blaine's inner monologue or Sebastian's jokes, not so much from me just like describing the scene.

I mostly don't think I'm great at writing smut, and I've found I really like the style of writing about sex that like Casey McQuiston uses in "Red, White, & Royal Blue" where it's not smut but rather indirectly describing what's going down with a huge focus on the emotions at play. If you've read the book, I feel like you'd understand what I mean, but I don't know how else to describe it.

10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've ever written?

I do not, mostly because there's not really a fandom I'm as passionate about as Glee that I feel like could go well together. I do hope some day I find the inspiration to write a Flash/Glee crossover fic, but who knows. Back in like 2011 when I first started writing fanfiction, I would sometimes include like one or two characters from other fandoms, maybe as like a roommate when a character went to college or as some background character, but nowadays I prefer to write OCs for those purposes.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of, but who knows honestly. I did have some writing I did on a fandom Instagram at one point + some edits stolen, and it was crazy because they blocked me so that I wouldn't find out but didn't bother to block any of my friends.

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

nope :) I feel like someone asked me once if they could, but I never heard anything back from them after I said yes.

13. have you ever cowritten a fic before?

No, but I did some Instagram RP back in the day that felt very much like co-writing. I had this Klaine RP that really helped me develop the way I write Blaine, and I think I had a Blam one too. But I enjoyed writing the friendships a lot more. I was Blaine and really close with someone who played Tina & someone who played Brittany, so those friendships became super important to me.

14. fave all time ship?

I mean,, my favorite to write is Seblaine and I'm obsessed with them. Their relationship is so special to me and I've never enjoyed writing about anyone as much as I do with them. I've been a Glee fan since I was in middle school when it was still on air, but I never really shipped them to this extent until I rewatched for the 800th time during the pandemic. Since then, they've been my OTP. They're both just very dynamic characters with infinite writing potential, and I love that neither of them is perfect, and there's so much from canon left unsaid that I get to explore. I'm also a sucker for friends to lovers and enemies to lovers, and Seblaine has elements of both.

But some other favorite ships include Wolfstar (Harry Potter), firstprince (Red, White, & Royal Blue), Gallavich (Shameless), Shara & Chloe (I Kissed Shara Wheeler), Evelyn & Celia (The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo), Nick & Jess (New Girl), Barney & Robin (How I Met Your Mother), & Jake & Amy (Brooklyn 99).

15. wip you want to finish but doubt you will?

I honestly don't have many of these, mostly because I tend to write entire projects at a time then move onto something else, at least with fanfiction. But I do have this little spooky halloween one shot au I started like two years ago and haven't felt motivated to finish because I'm just not good at writing spooky things.

I also have this sort of longfic I worked on for a really long time as a way to deal with something going on in my life, but I doubt I will ever finish it or post any of it because it's lowkey traumatic (deals with like car accidents & the death of a child) and I doubt anyone would be interested in reading something like that. It's Seblaine but involves a lot of Glee characters I haven't written beyond brief scenes in like 10+ years, like Finn, Rachel, Quinn, etc.

16. what are your writing strengths?

I like to think I'm good at writing like anxiety and very detailed internal monologues. I sometimes feel like I include too much of it, but it's always come very naturally to me. I also think I've gotten a lot better in the last year or so at writing funny side characters and dialogue in a group setting.

And I think I've gotten a lot better at writing chemistry and building that chemistry over time instead of skipping to the good part right away - the evolution of that skill to me is very apparent in how I wrote For Real This Time vs. How Bright We Burn.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

lol smut

I also think I tend to not trust myself enough and end up writing exactly what's going on instead of like implying it. I just want readers to understand so bad that I sometimes feel the need to explicitly say what a character is thinking or feeling, which isn't always what you want, especially when it's a character whose POV I'm not writing.

Also I think my sentence structure can be kinda not great. I write really long wordy run-on sentences too often when it should probably be reserved as a narrative device.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

I know a lot of French - I took it for five and a half years and keep up with it on Duolingo so I don't forget anything. I wouldn't call myself fluent, but I can generally understand it in reading and writing. That's the only language I'd be comfortable writing in other than English, which is SO convenient because you know who else is fluent in French? Sebastian ;)

glee! nothing has changed lol

20. fave fic you've written?

How Bright We Burn! It is my nature that whatever I'm working on at that moment is my favorite thing. I'm really proud of the slow burn in that fic and the character development work I've done for Blaine and Sebastian but also for the side characters like Nick, Jeff, etc. and even my OCs like Ethan. But I'm even more excited about the sequel because it's something I've never really attempted to this extent before, and that's the thing that I'm actively working on since How Bright We Burn is done other than some minor editing.

also gonna shout out 11:11 because I think that is the best job I've ever done with writing angst, and it was both challenging and rewarding for me to write

blaine always comes home on winter break. but unlike in the past, this year, he'll run into an old friend he hadn't planned on seeing, and his life will change drastically.

all throughout his life, blaine's experienced negativity from people all around him. at times, it feels like the only person on his side is his mom. his dad, brother, boyfriend, and classmates have all turned on him at some point. every seemingly good thing never lasts long, and eventually, he learns to hide his happiness; bury it, so he doesn't lose it.

while out studying one day, a man in the corner can't seem to take his eyes off blaine. of course, sebastian notices and immediately becomes protective, refusing to let anyone make a move on his boyfriend. though when the man finally walks up to the pair, blaine's hit with a blast from the past. then, back in the choir room, sebastian learns of a certain video previously kept secret by the warblers: the gap attack.

• annabelle ~ smut

just in time for date night, the newest installment of the conjuring series hits theaters. with the promise of cuddles and a hoodie to steal, blaine agrees to go see it with his boyfriend. though instead of focusing on the movie, his attention is on sebastian, and what exactly his boyfriend is doing down between his legs...

• secrets ~ fluff; fun

the warblers figure the only way to get sebastian to confess his feelings for blaine is to force it out of him. so, they do.

• crush ~ fluff; fun

the usual warbler study date brings the boys back to the lima bean, but this day ends much differently than their study dates have in the past.

a bar in cincinnati is not how blaine and sebastian expected to reunite after so many years apart. however when they do, they're so enamored by finally getting a chance to be together, that their first attempt at a relationship is flawed and rushed, and ends quicker than desired. unable to let go of each other completely, they stay in touch once a month at a sketchy motel halfway from each's university. but is this enough? should they let go and share their feelings for a second chance at love? or will they ignore their own hearts breaking and be happy that at least they have each other in some capacity? only time will tell.

In a last ditch effort, blaine calls an old friend in his contacts, hoping he'll be able to help, if he even answers.

recently separated from kurt but determined to enjoy his senior year, blaine tries to make the most out of his circumstances. right when he gets back on track, though, something happens that will change his life dramatically. but it's true what they say: it gets worse before it gets better. just at the point where he's sinking and scared, someone re-enters his life and reminds him how good life can really be.

blaine goes ring hunting in his efforts to win back kurt via proposal, but what happens when he runs into somebody that might make him change his mind?

Define age gap. I don't think I will actively look for it, regardless of age gap, but what kind of age gap does matter. Obviously, I am not fond of, for example, one of them being 16 and the other being 26, but one being 26 and the other 36? Sure. As I always say, it's not about the amount of years, but whether people are in a similar moment in life.

Codependency: +5

Okay, yeah, remember how fiction is all about exploring themes that would be a big no no in real life? This is one of them. I am such a sucker for fics that explore codependency, especially since it can be quite toxic or it can stem from, for example, of inadequacy which... give me ANGST.

Or also, what happens when people seem to be different in how much of themselves they want to give? Like, with Klaine, I am a big "Kurt needs to learn how to let people in and Blaine needs to learn to care for himself" truther.

I mean, it depends on what constitutes as enemies. If "enemies to lovers" is just being used as a way to have two terrible people forcibly end up together, then no thanks. It needs to make sense. It needs to show how people and the relationships evolve.

Enemies with benefits.... meh. Not really? Feels kinda weird to group these two categories together, since they're wildly different and I am just not into this one. Mostly. Sure. I mean, I do flail over Restoration Ecology by @captain-aralias. I cannot shut the fuck up about that fic and Simon thinks of Baz as his enemy so you know.

The Check, Please! fandom has some really good ones, especially with the angst potential of Jack "dying" in 2009. A really good one is i'll see you with your laughter lines, also written by @alphacrone. If you want a less angsty one, Those Tangled Olive Threads of Fate by @mcbangle is a hilarious way to fuck with the "red string" trope.

Despite his many concerns about their relationship, Blaine proposes when Kurt insists it’s the next step. A big wedding is planned, which is when Blaine meets Sam. He owns the venue, he runs some sort of business, he’s involved in some way. Him and Blaine start getting closer and closer until it spirals into an affair.

My Review: This just might be my favorite friends to lovers fic out there. I'm going to try to explain just a few reasons here.

Reason number one is simple. It's just beautifully written. I've read this fic multiple times, and I never fail to get wrapped up in the writing and plot. It flows naturally, and each chapter leaves me wanting more, which is what a story should do.

Oh, the smut. I think I've said it before, that I don't usually seek out PWP (porn without plot), and this doesn't qualify because it has so much heart wrapped inside the smut. However, I have to admit that the smut is impeccably written. I mean, damn, I have to shower after reading some of these chapters. I can envision our boys getting down and dirty because it's written so well. Sometimes, I find myself confused when I read smut, trying to figure out what's going on, and sometimes I feel like, by the time I figure out what's going on, it's over. That didn't happen here. I don't write full-on smut (penetration) much, but if I did, I might have to study this fic (Hell, like I haven't already.)

Lastly, this fic has such heart. Like I said, I don't like reading just smut. Poor Blaine. I feel like I'm inside his head, the way his internal monologue runs. You can tell he's falling hard for Kurt before he even realizes. It's brilliant the way the author slowly builds up the moment. And the last words sum everything up beautifully.

Basically, this won't be the last time I read this fic because it's just incredible. I have it downloaded it in my electronic library, and sometimes I read it again just because I crave it. If you haven't read it yet, I urge you to dive in, but be prepared to get sucked in. Make sure that you have time to read it straight through because it's truly hard to stop reading once you've started.

Amy has goosebumps just from the thought, she needs to visit and get to the good side of Priya's. She knows Priya is evil, and every good thing in her died a long time ago. But there is no way Kamilah or Adrian could break her so she does something nice for them. They are sitting in Adrian's office. Brainstorming plan how to get 4 votes, so Lily can live. Amy: "Alright, I pay her visit." Kamilah shoot stare to Adrian. Kamilah: "She's your pet. I don't care. But she gets all of you into this mess, so she needs to fix it." Adrian: "Kamilah be reasonable, she will not come back alive. You know Priya and her ´activities´..." Amy: "Kamilah is right. And there is no other way. She will send you to the hell in the moment you set your foot to her club."

Adrian: "No! We will find another way, I will not let anything to happen to you." Amy: "Maybe we will, but it will take a long time. And now, time is what we don't have. I already decide Adrian. He just don't know what kind of tension. It seems he wants to say something, but he just look to the opposit direction. Amy: "Great.. Yeah.... Thank you..." They got into her car. Kamilah drives Amy to the Paulus viewpoint. Kamilah exit the vehicle first, she opens doors for Amy and offers her hand. Amy decline and burst out of the car. Amy: "Why did you take me here? I need to meet with Priya! If you want to kill me, do it! Enough of your threats and shit talking about me all the time."

Kamilah: "You may be right, mortal. I don't care about you. But Adrian likes you. So listen to me, I will not repeat myself. I will help you out of this situation, who if I remember, you cause. But if this doesn't work out, and Adrian loses his life, because you put your con act and manipulate him to turn Lily. I'll kill you both without any hesitation." Amy is stressed out. Angry. Scared for her, Lily's and Adrian's life. This was the last button to push. She doesn't care if more than 2000 years old, strongest vampire on the earth, who can snap her neck in the velocity of light, stands before her. She slaps her hard and pushes her. Again, and again and again. She pinned Kamilah to the railing. Amy: "Ohh, really, Kamilah? Than do it, kill me! You are full of the bullshit! Drop this nonsense! You are hiding behind coldness, strength and rudeness. But we both know where is the truth! Deep inside, you are scared little girl, who is afraid of people leaving you, after they get to know real you! You are lonely and scream for the attention, affection and love! Deep inside, you want someone who will care about you, who will see the real you! Who will get you and stand by your side. So NO! I'm not afraid you. You care about people. Adrian may be the last being who likes you, and you know it. So you are losing your control, because he is the only hope for your humanity. Only thing which puts you in the line. The last thing to stops you from being monster. Be honest for second and show me some damn respect!" She catches Amy's hand when she wanted to push her again. Her jaw drops. She is right and they both now it. She stands there in shock.

Amy free her hands from Kamilah's strong grasp and start walking towards the city. It's a few miles. This is going to be a long walk, but Amy doesn't care. She needs to clear her head. She feels connection towards Kamilah, but she is tired of her act and manipulation. Kamilah feel how tear slides down her cheek. Reality falls apart and she remembers how she sits alone in her pentahouse or office, trying to drink her mind off. She prohibited herself any kind of connection after what she done in past. After so much pain she causes.

After centuries someone sees through her like she was a plate of glass. She closes her eyes and tried gain her control back. After a while she enters her expensive car and follows Amy. It does not take long, she finds her walking angrily in abandonen path.

Kamilah: "I'm sorry Amy. Please get into the car, I'll drive you to the Priya's club. It's not safe in the night here."

Amy: "I'm fine. Just go away." Kamilah: "Don't be stuborn, you were right about everything. Let me take you to the Priya's club, now for real. I know I upset you, but it takes hours from here, by walking.

Amy sight and listen, she gets into the car and turn to the window with her hand fold above her stomach. She is looking at the night New York. Amy: "What can Priya do to me?"

Kamilah: "She is a real monster. She will promise you a lot of things. She makes you feel special for short quantity of time. In the second she gets enough of you or gets bored, she will probably kill you. Her games, no human can survive. People disapear or they found them dead." Amy: "At least she is attractive. I will have a nice view when she dries me suck and I will die for someone I care about." Kamilah narrow her eyes at the girl, sitting besides her. Kamilah: "We won't let that happened. You need to get out of there if she tries something. We still can get Baron's vote." Amy: "He is even worse. Priya wants to play games, but her ego destroys her once. Amy: "Kamilah, I'm sorry about what I said earlier."

Kamilah's brows quirk. She thinking about hers next words.

Kamilah: "Don't be. Perhaps it was bold to say those things, but you were right. Noone was brave enough to tell me before..." Kamilah drive Amy to the Priya's club and wish her luck. Amy didn't wait a long line and walk towards the bouncer. Amy: "Priya will accept me immediately." Bouncer: "Oh, are you her snack? Tell me your name, I check the list." Amy tells her name to the bouncer. He calls for his colleague and they escort Amy right to the Priyas V.I.P. room. Priya is wearing a black minidress, with gold stripes and a red high heel boots. Priya: "Very well." She kisses Amy and guides her to stand up from the sofa. Her hands sliding at Amy's arms. Making way to tangle their fingers while Priya dominate Amy's tongue. Kamilah hide her daggers and undress her maroon blazer. She free Amy of the leather - metal harness and wrap Amy into blazer. She pick her up, holding her close, but carefully.

Kamilah: "You are not allowed to touch her again."

Priya: "Whatever, after this night, she comes back voluntarily."

Kamilah: "I expect ´aye´ from you, tomorrow. And even if she comes back by her choice, you will hand her over to us, immediately."

Without hearing answer, Kamilah exit the building.

Kamilah: "You got yourself into serious mess Amy."

Amy wakes up and nuzzles to Kamilah's neck.

Amy: "Kam?"

Kamilah: "Shh. You are safe and alive."

Amy: "I was imagining you whole time. While she was doing, what she was doing."

Amy falls alseep again. Kamilah stops for the moment and look at that small, fragile human. She don't know what she should think about this. But she decide to ignors it. She carefully put Amy at back seats and drive her to her pentahouse, where she clean Amy's wounds. She lay her onto her bed and with intention watch her till she wakes up, lay besides her. Amy lookes so calm. Soon she falls asleep to.

Amy wakes up in the morning. She is laying on top of Kamilahs chest. Kamilah is holding her close, only in underwear, Amy is only in Kamilah's blater. She tried to stand up, but Kamilah is holding her too strongly.

She nuzzle to her cheek with her nose, while stroking her silk hair between her fingers.

Amy: "Kamilah? Wake up"

Kamilah: "Hmm, no, you are not going anywhere."

Amy smile at the old vampire and lay at her chest again.

Amy: "Okay then"

They both continue sleep. And for once, both can sleep peacefully.

I feel like a fail a lot when I need to bring aspects of education/medicine/law into the story, mostly when they differ from what is the standard in my country. I always try, though. I make my research. But I don’t think I’ll ever fully understand how high schools work in the US, for example.

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I don’t do it often, but I like it, sometimes. Nothing too complicated, though, I wouldn’t want to make a horrible mistake and offend anyone.

Tal returns to wet footprints leading to a sleeping Raven surrounded by a pool of water on the floor. He sighs before leaving to place a call.

“Hey mom, I need your help. It’s about Raven.”

Raven wakes up the next morning to her alarm going off. Pain shoots to her head from her body, laying in an uncomfortable position on the floor. She goes through her morning routine, debating if she should attend class. But due to the upcoming assignments, it was required for her to attend to stay on track.

Raven made her way into class, not acknowledging Ina when she tried to catch her eye. Ina sighs before she starts the lesson. Ina starts to get more concerned at seeing Raven’s blank stare, typing out her notes from the presentation. Time speeds by and Ina sees Raven head straight for the exit, relieved that she can leave but it does not last long when she is stopped by Ina.

“Raven, could you stay back for a bit?”

Raven’s body tensed and she walked over to the desk while everyone piled out of the classroom. Ina looked Raven over and noticed dark bags under her eyes, red eyes, and she was looking everywhere but Ina.

“Professor, I have to get to my next class.”

Ina stared at her for a moment before she sighed. She knows she can’t tell her that they need to talk so she tries a different method.

“I have some papers to mark and I’d appreciate the help.”

Raven looks up with wide eyes, nodding.

“Yeah! I can help you with that. I can swing by and pick them up.”

“I would prefer it if it’s done in my office.”

Raven freezes, knowing she walked into a trap. She hesitates but agrees. She walks out, feeling Ina’s stare burning into her back.

Raven started to mark the papers as quickly and as carefully as she could. Ina could see that she was tense and that she wanted to leave. She decided to take the risk and ask her.

“Have I done anything wrong?”

Raven stops writing, looking up. She was caught off guard and didn’t know what to say.

“No, it’s not you. Don’t worry about it. It’s just me being weird.”

Raven hoped Ina would drop it but she continued.

“You’ve been distant, you’re not taking care of yourself. Don’t even try to argue with me about that. I can see it. It looks like you’re avoiding me, Raven, and it started when Bea said something to you that day.”

Raven was speechless, she wasn’t expecting to be attacked like that.

“Do you not want to do this anymore?”

“Stop.”

She pauses when she sees Raven’s red-lined eyes look at her. She takes her appearance in. Raven takes deep breaths, calming herself to avoid exploding at her.

“Ina, no. I do want to be with you. I like getting to know you, talking to you when no one is around. You deserve better than this. I’m just holding you back.”

She starts to pack up before Ina can get a word in.

“Why can’t you talk to me about this? We can’t sort this out if you walk away every time I try to speak to you, just like I do.”

“No, we can’t do this. You’re right, I always walk away. So, there’s no point.”

Ina flinched, hurt by her cold words. Raven noticed the action, feeling a pang in her chest. She noticed a flash of worry on Raven’s face, but it disappeared in a blink of an eye. She stood there as Raven walked away.

When Raven entered the apartment, she saw Tal and her aunt sitting on the couch.

“Aunty A?”

“Raven, sweetheart, how are you?”

Her aunt gave her a tight hug while Raven was confused before throwing a glare at Tal. Aunt A waved at Tal to leave the apartment, leaving the two of them alone. Raven sighs before she realizes their plan.

“Tal called you.”

“You’re a brilliant child, you know that? Chandra would be so proud to hear that.”

Raven scoffs, causing her aunt to raise an eyebrow. She mumbles an apology, her aunt pulls her down by her collar to her height and pats her head before moving around the kitchen to make some tea.

“Who are they?”

“Who? What?”

“I know you, Raven. When Chandra passed and we had to take you in because Joshua was mentally unstable to be your guardian, don’t test me.”

Raven sighed before she handed her a cup of tea, looking down into her cup.

“Promise you won’t get mad?”

“I’ll be the judge of how bad it is. None of that attitude.”

Raven thought about her word choice but it came tumbling out.

“I’m in love with my professor.”

Both of their eyes widen and Raven slaps her palm to her forehead.

“Are you being careful about it?”

Raven looked bewildered.

“No lessons or yelling? Just straight to that?”

“Raven, I’ve been there before. Professors are very attractive.”

“No, absolutely not. I don’t wanna hear that.”

They chuckled at the thought before Raven continued.

“I met her at a speakeasy and she was different. She understood me, we talked about everything. I even kissed her. But of course, I don’t do anything past that. We exchanged numbers and went our way. The next day, she walked into my class as the professor. We tried to stay away but I guess the Dean liked me enough after helping out with some stuff to assign me as her TA. We got closer and I just had to go ruin it by falling in love with her.”

Her aunt observed Raven, listening to her ramble on. She can see how distressed Raven is without her.

“I see what this is. You’re pushing her away because you think she deserves better.”

“What? How did you-“

“Raven, sweetie, you seem like a closed book to others but you’re an open book to me.”

Raven stood gaping at her aunt as she packed up to leave before hugging her.

“Don’t be afraid to love, Raven. You’ve been punishing yourself for long enough and you deserve love after giving it to others.”

She was left standing alone in the kitchen. Walking over to her room, she grabbed a small album in her duffel bag. Tracing her finger over her mother’s face, smiling, in the photo, whispering to herself as she sat down.

“I want to be loved but loving me is a burden.”

Callie and Tal checked if Raven was still passed out on the desk before telling Ina what has happened in the past few days.

“We can’t tell you everything because of her privacy.”

The women looked at Tal, waiting for him to continue.

“Stop looking at me like that. I can’t do these kinds of talks, Callie!” He harshly whispered.

She rolls her eyes before informing Ina that she needs to talk to Raven and only she can get through to her.

“Why do you think I can do that?”

“Professor, she trusts you the most. I’m not trying to be rude but I’m shocked she let someone in. You managed to find your way through her walls and we think that it’s you that can talk things through.”

They both leave and Ina enters her room before gently placing her hand on Raven’s shoulder. Raven jumps, looking around before her eyes land on the professor.

“Professor? Why are you here?”

She scrambles away from her, nearly falling off of her chair, putting some distance between them.

“You’re not supposed to be here!”

“Raven, I just want to talk to you. I’m worried about you. I can tell that you’re not yourself.”

Raven stares at the ground, refusing to look up. She holds her tears from falling, clenching her jaw.

“I’m sorry, Professor. I’m just me.”

Raven turns away from her, facing the wall, tears slip out and slowly slide down her face.

“I’m sorry..”

Ina feels a dull ache in her chest at the tone of her voice.

She watches as Raven falls to her knees, letting out sobs.

“Ina, I can’t. It’s not supposed to be like this, a student-teacher relationship. You should be with someone better. Someone who is your age, a successful and experienced person, anyone you like who isn’t me. I couldn’t bear to tell you because I know you don’t feel the same”

Raven starts to punch her thigh out of frustration.

“I’ve tried to avoid you, deny it, anything. But all I can think about is you.”

She feels a gentle but tight grip on her arm, stopping her from hurting herself, and warmth wrapped around her back.

“Rae, it’s okay.”

When Raven looked up at Ina, she saw a flash of her mother with tears in her eyes.

“Rae, it’s okay.”

She put her head into the professor’s chest holding onto her, letting out all the frustration and pain. Ina held her close to her chest, placing small kisses on her head. Ina’s heart ached for the girl, seeing her as a strong one who finds a way to put a smile on others’ faces. But seeing her crumble and fall apart in her arms, was a different kind of pain. Raven pulled back after a few moments, her eyes were red and puffy.

“Sorry, I think I might have gotten some snot on you.”

Ina chuckled, placing a small kiss against her forehead.

“You didn’t have to come all this way, I’m sorry for worrying you.”

“I care about you, Raven. But something to keep in mind is that I decide what I deserve.”

Raven sighs, using her arm to wipe away any tears or snot before she looks up into Ina’s eyes. She gets up from her sitting position against a kneeling Ina, matching the professor. Raven takes both of Ina’s hands and takes a moment to process everything.

“I don’t know if you feel the same way but I can’t keep on ignoring it. Ina Kingsley, I am in love with you.”

Ina’s breath hitches, looking into Raven’s eyes. She was speechless, unsure of what to say. Raven, sensing the hesitation, panics and tries to pull her hands away. Ina returns to her senses when she feels her pulling away, she grabs her hands and holds them in her soft hold.

“I-I love you too, Raven. I couldn’t stop but now that I know you feel the same, it’s so relieving.”

Raven exhales in relief, fresh tears sliding down her face. She bent down to place delicate kisses on Ina’s hands.

“Thank you.”

“What are you thanking me for?”

“For loving me back. I love you so much, Ina.”

They slowly lean in locking their lips into a long, passionate kiss.
