a diary entry of the “mono no aware” series !

sanemi shinazugawa was not heartless. he might’ve been ruthless when need be, but deep inside there was a certain side of his behind closed doors. his late mother and siblings, masachika, genya, you— he cared for all of you behind his rough exterior.

in your case, there was a specific promise he made to himself because he cared. you were bruised after one of your father’s wraths when your mother, shizu, tended to your wounds. her small hands pressed a cold cloth to your arm as stray tears fell down your cheeks.

in a hurry, you wiped them away in the hopes your younger siblings weren’t looking. you were the eldest among them all, so you felt as if you couldn’t show them the pain you felt. your father’s hits hurt, but seeing them writhing in pain hurt more.

it wasn’t the first time you took a beating for your younger siblings, but it was the first time that instead of sanemi being hurt himself, it was you in his place. as you hugged his and genya’s smaller frames, your father, kyogo, repeatedly kicked your back during his drunken fit.

“why’d you jump in front of me?” sanemi asked, staring at the newly formed bruise. despite how recent it was, it was already turning into a deep shade of purple. “how will you heal if you keep getting new injuries?”

you merely smiled at him, “the pain from these go away eventually, but the memory of seeing you guys in pain won’t. as long as you’re my little brother, i’ll protect you from anything thrown our way.”

it was after kyogo’s death that sanemi made his promise to you. he was going back home after delivering materials with genya for money when they stumbled upon you being scolded in front of a vendor’s stall.

someone had run into you, causing you to bump into one of the displays. the man’s fruits had fallen to the ground, and the blame was placed upon you because he never saw the person who was running. this man knew your father, and just like everyone else, hated him. you were only half-listening to his angry rambles when he struck you in the face.

you supposed he hated your father so much that it extended to you, his child.

genya called out for you in worry, and you took that as your cue to leave. you rushed towards your brothers, taking a thrown apple to the back before ushering them away from the scene. sanemi said nothing as you placed your hand on his shoulder, squeezing lightly.

you asked them if they were okay, but all he could think about was you. were you okay after everything? how were you okay at all? you always took it upon yourself to keep them safe and comfortable when you could, but besides your mother, who was there to look out for you? 

so sanemi made a promise to himself— he wouldn’t let anyone hurt you anymore. if he ever saw you getting yelled at, he stepped in and argued back. if someone tried laying a hand on you, he took it upon himself to smack their hand away. and when a boy your age was obviously hitting on you, he’d keep his eye out for you. he might’ve been younger than you, but he sure did act like a protective older brother.

even after growing up, his protective disposition remained.

so when he thought giyuu tomioka had taken advantage of you, he was beyond angry. his older sister, one of the kindest people he knew, was being harassed by someone he already disliked— in his eyes, that was reasonable enough to beat up the water hashira beyond saving.

but then you revealed your relationship to him before it could go that far, leaving him at a loss. although he did suspect your feelings, he didn’t expect them to be reciprocated. sanemi knew you got along with the black-haired hashira but not to that extent.

your relationship crossed sanemi’s mind a few times for the next 2 days. sanemi wanted you to be happy, but if it meant being happy because of giyuu’s ill intentions, then forget it. with that in mind, he invited the water hashira to his estate.

giyuu entered the grounds of sanemi’s estate with quiet steps. it wasn’t like the wind hashira to invite him over, and after the events that took place at your estate, it was especially odd. he took a quick look around before the sound of rushed footsteps reached his ears.

‘wind breathing fifth form: cold mountain wind’

‘water breathing seventh form: drop ripple thrust’

giyuu stared at sanemi, whose sword he blocked using his own. a sudden attack was the last thing he was expecting upon arriving at the estate. the white-haired hashira jumped back before scoffing at giyuu’s distant expression. his face alone made him ticked off.

“what was that for?”

sanemi sheathed his nichirin sword and after watching him do so, giyuu did the same. sanemi elaborated, “hurt y/n in any way and i’ll cut your head clean off.”

the noirette blinked, “does she know you’re making threats?”

“it’s a warning, not a threat. listen up, tomioka, if your feelings for y/n are superficial, end it now and don’t show your face to hers. neither of you will end up unscathed-“

“that sure sounded like a threat.”

“i’ll turn it into one.”

they stood in silence for a moment before giyuu took it upon himself to speak, “i don’t know where you got the idea, but i have no intention of hurting y/n. she’s the most important person to me, so i wouldn’t dare to lay a hand on her.”

“and how do i know you’re not just saying that to save your own ass?” the wind hashira raised a brow.

“you don’t, since you only have my word, but don’t you think it’s an insult to y/n? she is no fool. if anyone were to find me in a lie, y/n would be one of the first to. i wouldn’t waste my time in a relationship if it were for a superficial purpose.”

at his words, sanemi couldn’t help but wonder, “do you love her?”

“what?”

“you heard me, tomioka. do you love y/n?”

it was a question he couldn’t immediately answer. as silence draped over the pair, the blue-eyed man found himself deep in thought. giyuu was sure that he liked you romantically, but was his feelings, as deep as they were, considered love? he suddenly thought of the night the two of you confessed.

“this nearly feels like a dream,” you murmured.

“i hope not,” a faint smile adorned his lips. “when i dream of something, it doesn’t last very long. i don’t want this,” he intertwined his fingers with yours, “to end.”

“well then, we best not let it.” you fought back your own smile as you rested your head in the crook of his neck, “i don’t want this to end either. so, if you allow me, i’d love to be yours.”

giyuu’s lips then curled further as he stared at you in adoration, “yeah, i like the sound of that.”

he remembered how fast his heart raced against his chest that night, and the feeling of relief when he got to hold you in his arms. as endearing as it was, it didn’t seem like love.

the past few days, however, there was a shift in the air.

everything was already routine. missions, rest, training— all of it was on an endless loop, and although it was always a repetitive bore, it wasn’t so boring with you. giyuu looked forward to coming back from missions for a different reason other than the fact that he could rest.

everything mundane that he had no reason to look forward to now made him excited to spend time with you because with you, nothing in the world could be a bore.

giyuu tomioka wasn’t familiar with love, but finding joy in such a simple moment with you— that seemed like love to him.

sanemi, watching closely, noticed the slight curve of the water hashira’s lips. a warmth spread throughout giyuu’s chest before he met your brother’s eyes, and that was enough for sanemi to know how he felt.

as much as he disliked giyuu, knowing that you were happy with him and that his feelings were also true, the wind pillar turned his head away. he waved his hand, “nevermind. you can leave.”

giyuu tilted his head in confusion, “do you not want my answer anymore?”

“i don’t need it.”

“you were pressed for it moments ago.”

“leave before i kick your ass.”

giyuu blinked twice before he also turned around. he knew better than to bicker with sanemi when he was in any sort of mood. without a word, the water pillar left the grounds of the wind estate and headed for yours.

when he showed up at your door, you greeted him with a smile and a peck on the lips. and even though the two of you shared a meal in silence, he was sure that in his heart, all he had was love for you.

this entry’s taisho secret— without you knowing, sanemi showed up to the fruit seller’s stall the next day, knocked everything over, and ran away. though, he made sure to take a few fruits for your family to have for lunch, and as much as he hates to admit it, they were tasty

There was a thing about life that made it so unappealing. Several things, actually. But for one, you don't even make it out alive. What's the point? What do you live for if you're just going to die in a couple years? You don't even know if you'll make it past tomorrow. So what's the point?

The fact stood, however, that if Giyuu died, he would no longer see Sanemi and Obanai anymore. Which seemed to be the sole reason he was alive. He didn't even know if he should keep living for them. He was a nuisance anyway. He would only bother them and they were better off alone. He wondered, often, if they would notice if he died.

Though they did seem to notice other things. Like if he was quieter than usual—which was saying something, considering he was often quiet—or if he hadn't been eating. His eating problems weren't like Obanai's. They were selfish—Obanai's made sense.

Giyuu didn't eat because he hoped he would starve to death. He would waste Sanemi's carefully made food just because he wasn't happy. He was stupid.

He was so sure that Sanemi and Obanai were quite done with him. He figured that if they weren't so nice, they would've dropped his ass immediately. He had forced them into the relationship anyhow, right? He'd forced himself into theirs. Somehow, for some reason, they had let him. They acted as if they loved him—but did they really?

Sometimes, when he watched them, he could imagine that they would be perfectly fine without him. Smiling and laughing. They looked good together. They were better off without his presence. He was nothing but a river between to pieces of land, pushing them apart. He only ruined things. 

They insisted, for his sake, that he wasn't annoying. They said they loved him. They said they cared. But they couldn't truly, right? Shinobu had said it herself—nobody liked him. Nobody wanted to be his friend, much less his boyfriend. So how had he gotten two boyfriends? Simple. They were too kind to let him down. They probably figured he would cry like a fucking baby and follow them like a stupid child if they rejected him. He would. He probably would.

That was the worst of it. He knew why they hated him. But he couldn't let himself to accept it. Or, at least, leave them be. He stuck to them like glue, unwilling to leave their side. You see, they were the only people who could make him feel, even just for a split second, that he might possibly want to live. That he might be worth it. That life might be worth it. Just for a minute. And it was the most selfish thing he ever let himself keep. He refused to be selfish, typically, but he needed it. Wanted it. He longed for it. Yearned for it to last. A little longer. A minute more.

Sanemi knew what it looked like when someone hurt themself deliberately. He would know. He used to do it. But that was in the past. He hadn't given it much of a thought again after months—years—passed. He began to feel content again and mostly forgot that he'd ever had an episode like that. 

Obanai and Giyuu were his absolute pride and joy—and Genya, though he would never admit it to anyone. They made him feel as if he could lead a somewhat normal life, or at least die a content death. So he went along with his life just fine for a while. Until Giyuu stumbled into his house, face pale and arms slack.

For a moment, he got a sense of déjà vu. He didn't understand it at first and simply picked up Giyuu, asking if he was alright. Then it hit him.

The first time he had purposefully harmed himself, he hadn't been sure what was wrong with him. It was when Masachika was alive. Sanemi hadn't slept well that day and had awoken with a surge of guilt and pain. He didn't understand himself. He had grabbed his katana and numbly drew it down his own body, watching blood spill from the wounds. The blade had been sharp. And he had pressed much too hard. But the pain felt relieving, as if feeling some pain would make up for the loss of his family, his siblings he'd been unable to protect. It soothed his mind. But then Masachika had entered the room.

The katana had dropped and suddenly his wounds stung in a million other ways and he no longer felt the momentary comfort from them. He cried out, standing. He had wobbled towards Masachika, unsure what he was doing. He was sure, now, that he must've looked exactly as Giyuu did now. Collapsing into Masachika's arms, molded by the concern lacing his friend's gaze.

He must've looked the same. Pale and shaky. Wondering what the hell had he done.

Sanemi tugged Giyuu's sleeves up. When he had done it, it had been all over his body. His legs, his arms, his chest. But he had caught a glint of bandages from under Giyuu's haori sleeve. It hadn't been there earlier and he hadn't gone on any missions since they had last met.

The bandages were stained red. It was only one arm, but it was still one arm. It was still there.

He scooped Giyuu up, taking him to his room. He placed him down on the futon, ordering him to stay there before shouting at his crow to go find Obanai and scouring his bathroom for towels and bandages. 

When Obanai had arrived, they had mopped up Giyuu's arm, putting light pressure on the wounds as they dabbed the blood with the towel. The bandages were wrapped around his arm and then they pulled him under the covers of the bed, quiet. They stole worried glances, holding Giyuu in a tight embrace.

After Giyuu had fallen asleep, they had spoken to one another in hushed tones for hours. They hadn't known that Giyuu had been unhappy to the point he would do something like this. And Sanemi feared it wasn't a one-time thing. That it was worse. That it would spread. 

Obanai suggested they spoke to Giyuu about it. He said that they would have to help him, somehow. To make him have something to live for, maybe.

When they talked to Giyuu, the following day, over this matter, he had brushed it off.

"I'm alright," he had said. "I was just feeling bad yesterday."

Neither believed him. Giyuu had never been the best at lying. He hadn't suddenly gotten the talent to.

They ended up dragging him back to Sanemi's house for another cuddle session. This time, however, they involved Giyuu in the talking. The conversation went back and forth time after time, constantly revolving back to the fact that Sanemi and Obanai loved him dearly and then Giyuu denying it and assuming they didn't.

In the end, however, they were satisfied with the results. Giyuu ended up contently snuggling into their hugs and finally giving up with his argument. he seemed a bit happier after the talk and Sanemi and Obanai relaxed slightly.

Of course, they of all people should've known to never let their guard down. But it's only human to forget every now and then. Even when it comes at the worst times possible.

It would've been a lie to say that Giyuu hadn't felt better after his boyfriends told him how much they loved him for an hour straight. But it would've also been a lie to say that it helped him on the long run. See, it made him feel better for about two hours after the talk. Roughly. And then his mind ran wild.

They must've been telling him that to make him stop being a burden to them. So they would stop having to help him. They probably felt pressured to do it. Yes, that was it. They didn't love him as much as they said they did. Words were empty, right? Promises didn't save Tsutako's life. Neither did they mean much when they told him "I love you." They didn't love him. They shouldn't. They wouldn't. Who would love him anyway? It was illogical. Unlikely. Stupid.

The thoughts molded his mind. They made up his thoughts. They made him want to curl up in a ball and cry. And maybe get dehydrated from that and die. Then in that moment he made a decision. It wasn't a sober one. He wasn't in the right mind. But it was far too late to stop him.

He was being ludicrous. Of course they didn't love him! Of course they wanted him out of their sight right away! Why would they care about him? There was nothing appealing about Giyuu; he was quiet and stubborn and annoying. He was nothing but another person to worry about because he was too childish and careless to take care of himself. So he was better off gone. Out of their lives.

His hand was on his katana, pulling it out of his sheathe. Then the blade was at his throat. He felt nothing more.

It came, as would be expected from anyone but Giyuu, a shock. At first, the Hashira were confused. Was this a joke? It was the middle of the day. What had happened to Giyuu? How had he died? And then one word fell upon their ears and they were stiffened with shock. 

"Suicide."

The news reached Sanemi and Obanai first—who were on their way to Giyuu's house to hopefully spend some time together. They had been making their way idly to his house, talking lightheartedly. Then a crow swooped by. Was that Kanzaburou?

The word of Giyuu's death that he'd inflicted upon himself had barely left the bird's beak before the two had dropped their food—which they'd had to maybe convince Giyuu to eat lunch with them—and rushed to his house. The door was broken open—there was no use knocking.

The house was eerily silent for the middle of the day. Their footsteps, though loud, and their calls of his name didn't fill in the quiet that had befallen over the house. They stopped dead at his bedroom door, eyes wide but face otherwise slack with shock. Giyuu's body was slumped down, his head deattached from his body. His katana was held loosely in his hand, blood dotted vaguely on the blade. He was dead.

First came the shock. The processing. Then panic surged both Hashira forward and they stumbled towards his body, kneeling by his side. There was no hope on saving him. There couldn't be.

They searched the room. Had there been something to trigger him? No. What was it? Had they not done enough? Had they made it worse? What had happened? What the hell had fucking happened?

The news rippled through the Hashira. A death like this, though not uncommon for Demon Slayers, was the first amongst the Hashira in decades. Because of that, several Hashira were at Giyuu's house within minutes of getting the occurance. They found Sanemi and Obanai bent over Giyuu's body, clutching each other and shaking. Tears didn't seem to be coming out but silent screams rendered them useless as Tengen slowly pulled Giyuu from under them, wrapping him in a blanket to be buried.

Neither Sanemi nor Obanai knew what had happened. But both blamed themself. And the cycle began.

KNY Fandom so fucking insufferable I'm gonna start behaving like those GiyuShino and SaneKana shippers and go around spreading misinformation and say "no you don't get it SaneGiyuu was implied!!!" /j

because I'd actually have more content to mention without even mischaracterizing them

wanna talk about how they're a two-faced mirror? almost as if they were written to parallel each other and there's so much to talk about on this matter

or, since not everyone in this Fandom can dive into analysis, wanna mention how Shinobu figured Sanemi could've made Giyuu smile by inviting him to eat his fav dish with him? why not ask him directly instead? why Sanemi out of all people?

wanna mention Sanemi's pseudo-obsession on that man? he disliked his ass, but if we go back to analysis, his intolerance to someone feeling superior can be tied to a multitude of factors and one of which is being low-key reminded of himself, and he loathes himself while at the same time he puts on that strong façade. he can't face it though. and he wanted to understand why Giyuu felt that way SO BADLY he went to him for training and tried to speak with him, he wanted a contact, he wanted to understand, he needed Giyuu to speak up but he didn't.

on the other hand don't we wanna talk about Giyuu's perspective? Giyuu never hated him nor did he really feel sad knowing he disliked him, contrary to how he felt towards Obanai. not to mention he even got to be sarcastic towards Sanemi's dumb ass at least twice.

and the iconic ohagi scene? idk about y'all but between the hashira I think that's THE iconic scene, alongside Giyuu and Shinobu beefing and Shinobu almost stabbing him (don't get me wrong platonic GiyuShino has my whole heart)

the first time we saw Giyuu smile in the series is while imagining to befriend Sanemi??? and out of everyone he chose Sanemi? the hashira who is canonically the most difficult to talk with?😭 he only ever smiled either for food, for Sanemi or Tanjiro

oh and let's not talk about how Tanjiro, after getting knocked up, wakes up and the first thing Giyuu says is "yeah Shinazugawa left" ..? or the whole novel chapter in which they end up talking about him (supposedly right after that scene in the manga) and Giyuu cheered up. what

anyways, likewise, the first time Sanemi was seen smiling genuinely outside of his family was with Giyuu. Obanai and especially Masachika were both closer to him, not to mention the most important person in his life, Genya...yet here we are ig?? (after Giyuu he also smiled more in general, the scene of him smiling at Nezuko was one of my fav panels ever so keep in mind I'm taking in consideration the chronological events and not the impact of the scenes per se)

or let's talk about the most important part in their development which is when they fought together.

Sanemi saving him, telling him not to zone out while throwing the sword at him, it made Giyuu realize he's the water hashira, it was the first time Giyuu acknowledged it. Sanemi influenced Giyuu's character positively, and so far Tanjiro was the only other one who managed to. Sanemi saw him as his ally (rightfully so), and hopefully seeing him fight also made him realize he wasn't that much of a conceited guy, he was just like him, as he initially wanted Giyuu to understand (despite the fact it was a miscommunication)

Sanemi teaming up with Giyuu out of everyone, in such an impactful panel.... idk, if it was a straight ship that would've felt like a confession for the Fandom 💀

they impacted each other's character, they were the only two hashira surviving after facing the same war, they faced similar struggles during their lives (but let's not get into analysis, once again...), they could've understood each other better than anyone else would ever have, and they ended up bonding and eating together

that panel was there, in the middle of other panels all portraying important bonds, whether canon romantic bonds or platonic and sibling-like ones (Tanjiro and Nezuko, the Kamaboko squad, the swordsmiths etc.)

if it wasn't important it wouldn't have been there, but the funniest thing is that if either of them was a woman it would've been considered canon since it also included TanKana, ZenNezu and InoAoi🙏🏻

but oh, if we try to name either of these things and more, people will rightfully say "can't they be friends anymore?", which is valid, but I wonder why this doesn't apply to equally fanon straight ships.

Hello! can you do a scenario where giyu is already promised to y/n by kagaya in an betrothed announcement in one of their hashira meetings, but every other hashira is trying to either convince force or kidnapped the reader into marrying them? This is due to y/n having the ability to heal others and kagaya wants more healers since no one has ever heard of such a power and the amount of slayers being killed. So in order to create more offsprings with this ability he sets up a betrothed that you and giyu agreed to. But the other hashira are jealous and want in on y/n’s whole future in the matter.

Out of both Sanemi and Giyuu which do you think would enjoy being the little spoon more?

UGH THIS IS TOUGH!!

Giyuu definitely desires that physical intimacy and closeness to someone and to know that he is loved enough to be held instead of the one having to do the holding, but I think Sanemi’s need for comfort and stability overrides that.

Sanemi is wildly mischaracterized in the fandom, this man is a SWEETHEART!! He yearns to be comforted and adored to a point that you’ll hold him close and snuggle him.

What he wouldn’t give to feel your lips on the top of his head while you whisper sweet nothing as he drifts off to sleep. You’re his everything, the only thing he really has left. Please give him some extra love and attention, he desperately needs it.

I also hc that he’s a clingy guy when he’s home alone with you. You’re making dinner? He’s hugging you from behind while telling you about his day. You’re trying to use the bathroom? He’s waiting right down the hall, tapping his foot impatiently.

why sanegiyuu DOES make sense

woo another analysis

Both sanemi and giyuu are complex characters, and both of them did play off each other in crucial ways for their character development, their dynamic is complicated and much more then ‘they hate each other’ because in fact sanemi was the only one hated giyuu, giyuu didn’t hate sanemi. And that was due to a misunderstanding. Let’s start with giyuu, we already know that giyuu had a lot of mental issues during the time of the anime, tanjiro helping giyuu with that was a major part of his development and it’s what leads us to how sanemi affects giyuu’s character. After tanjiro causes him to acknowledge that he actually does have worth, he allowed himself to think about making another connection with another person, something giyuu did want.

Out of all the people giyuu could choose he decided on sanemi, most likely due to sanemi’s similarities to sabito giving giyuu a sense of familiarity. Giyuu never tried to hide that he wanted a connection, he shows it, picturing him giving sanemi ohagi and him talking about it with tanjiro. With sanemi, sanemi is pretty much the polar opposite, sanemi made up a entire life plan as a coping mechanism, ignoring reality and causing him to do very harsh things and that it’s itself is a delusion. He is genuinely harsh to anyone that reminds him of himself, tanjiro, genya and of course giyuu.

the people that sanemi did feel calm around didn’t remind him of himself, instead family, for example masachika and especially kanae. Sanemi acknowledged kanae was very different from himself, she was an older sibling too, but she was kind, even towards demons, just like how shizu (sanemi’s mother) was kind to kyogo (their father). Every parallel between sanemi and kanae was linked to his mother and how much he missed her. Kanae pacified sanemi for a while, though in the long term sanemi did not need that type of comfort, he needed a full on slap to the face, to bring him back to reality. he needed a slap, and trusted support so he wouldn’t completely loose it.

like i mentioned earlier sanemi did hate giyuu, but it was due to a misunderstanding. During the hashira meeting giyuu walked out, saying he wasn’t like the rest of the hashira. Giyuu meant to say that he didn’t deserve to be a hashira but sanemi misunderstood. Sanemi couldn’t fathom why someone would be so vulnerable openly, he didn’t even think for a second giyuu could think he was inferior because sanemi himself would rather die then be that vulnerable. Causing their miscommunication.

giyuu also needed a slap and he received multiple, one of them being physical, and that one is of course sabitos, after his sister died, which is what caused giyuu to get so attached to him in the first place.The second one was tanjiro, when he helped giyuu open up. Lastly the final one was sanemi during the final battle when giyuu got saved by obanai, and sanemi yelled at him “don’t space out now or i’ll murder your ass” which caused giyuu to acknowledge that he was indeed the water hashira, and then they slammed their blades together.

Although sanemi did have a positive influence on giyuu, it’s worth pointing out that giyuu had a positive influence on sanemi too. Because sanemi did get the well needed slap back to reality when genya died. His delusion broke into pieces. He needed support after the final battle, and giyuu was there to give him that support.

They were alone together after the corps defeated muzan, and they had so much in common. They could truely understand each other causing them to be vulnerable with another person, something they hadn’t done in years. The proof relies in the fact they were eating together, of their own free will. Tengen was close with them at the end of the manga but tengen wasn’t there, Because that panel was about sanemi and giyuu and their bond, there wasn’t a need for words because it was shown. Sanemi and giyuu thrived for the first time in forever, that in itself creates romantic chemistry. Their friendship was meaningful because they had so much in common, they could understand what the other was going through because they’d gone through the same thing.

hmmm... concepts/headcanons... i do have a bunch! I've posted some in the past so i may accidentally repeat myself a bit haha

also, apologies in advance-- a lot of these are going to be centered on obanai, since he's my favorite among the three..... unfortunately i am biased :(

sanemi can't stand the heat, and he warms up really easily. he's also really picky about his textures and he gets really worked up if he's wearing something he deems bad

a lot of the time he's just left in a shirt and a diaper. he just needs a lot of skin showing otherwise he feels constricted

obanai is the opposite--- he needs to be warm at all times. he shivers like a leaf if he's wearing anything that isn't long sleeves and will wail his little heart out if he's cold

giyuu always has his blanket. big or little brained he always has his blanket with him. he hides under it a lot, whether it be to avoid everyone else or just to take a nap

when sanemi cries he is so god damn loud. he shrieks and screams and will kick and throw things; he just doesn't know what to do with himself...

again, obanai is the opposite to sanemi in that he's a silent crier, and he even muffles his little wails with his mittens or by burying himself against someone :(

giyuu and sanemi have an easier time falling asleep compared to obanai. someone has to sit with him to make sure he falls asleep and stays asleep--

otherwise he'll pretend he fell asleep or try to get himself out of his crib

they all have nightmares. all of them.

sometimes they have to sleep separately Or Else

tengen's favorite baby to take care of is, surprisingly, obanai. he likes getting to hold him and coddle him and he always really looks forward to feeding the little guy from his bottle or rocking him to sleep

sanemi was originally his favorite, but then big brained sanemi threw mushed up carrots and rice in his hair, and it took days for tengen to properly clean himself up

giyuu is the only one who is obedient when it comes to food, so long as he gets to feed himself

sanemi is a nightmare. he makes a huge mess every time. he loves playing with his food and trying to feed others (specifically genya) handfuls of said food. he will giggle like a lunatic as he covers himself and his loved ones in food

again since obanai is so small and weak he has to nurse from a bottle which is a nightmare when he's big and small

when he's little brained its a lot easier but he'll still get sick on himself sometimes :( he has a sensitive tummy

baby giyuu LOVES bath time. he would sit there for hours if he could. he has lots of bath toys and goes splash splash

all three of them are obedient with gyomei and kagaya. otherwise at least one of them is being difficult for one reason or another

big brain obanai hates touch but baby brain obanai loves cuddles... it's another way to keep him warm

he also likes to be swaddled

the babies do arts and crafts sometimes and its always a disaster

kaburamaru gets paint and glitter on him and obanai freaks out

sanemi and giyuu try to eat the paint then both start coughing and spitting and losing their minds

mitsuri and tengen teach them how to be more gentle and careful and such and they learn how to finger paint

obanai always paints a snake

mitsuri keeps every single piece and hangs them up around her estate

muichiro helps them make tiny paper planes

obviously they're babies and they can't actually make it but muichiro helps them and lets them think they did it

Zenitsu and Nezuko COULD have been a good ship but it's not very well done and again, their personalities just don't match. Zenitsu's writing is already rather terrible when it comes to the screaming and yelling (though he has very good morals, great character concept ect.) and the yelling/being perverted is what ruins the relationship.

We also don't see a lot of Nezuko in the first place and she isn't aware of Zenitsu's feelings since she's a demon, so the ship just feels strange and uncomfortable to me.

I also just don't like the ship.

I cannot stress this enough but their personalities do NOT match (what I mean by this, they are not the right people to balance each other out).

Doesn't help they deadass look like siblings.

Inosuke should've gotten a girl that had Tanjiro's personality, it would've worked better.

Aoi and Inosuke have borderline no meaningful interactions. Aithor just sloppily meshed them together.

I think the ship works rather well; the girls each have their own separate personalities but I do feel like Hinatsuru is the only one who compliments Uzui's personality well but Makio and Suma are also good!

I think you can tell Uzui cares for them but it's not my favourite ship.

My friend James thinks Makio and Suma are annoying. Hinatsuru is "good" though.

Barely knew each other; Kanae died a few weeks after knowing Sanemi.

Definitely one-sided (Shinobu adopts Kanae's habits ect. Meaning how Shinobu acts is a reflection of how Kanae would've acted and Shinobu seems to not be all that fond of Sanemi, meaning Kanae probably respected Sanemi but didn't particularly like him.)

I feel like people slander it too much — the interactions the two have later on in the story give reason for people to ship it.

But I feel like whilst Sanemi fits Giyuu, Giyuu doesn't fit Sanemi. Like, what I mean is, I think Sanemi's nature matches Sabito's towards Giyuu, especially later on in the story, but I feel like Sanemi needs someone that isn't Giyuu.

I personally don't ship it because I feel like Giyuu's writing isn't all that delved into.

I love these two platonically though —Sanemi's parallels with Sabito will always keep me in a firm chokehold.

I'm fond of them since they remind me of todobaku but I personally don't ship sanegiyuu.

Sanemi and you rarely ever talk but somehow he knew you where the one but the thing is the only person that he liked was friends with the person he hated most TOMIOKA GIYUU! what will sanemi do?!

The most annoying thing about you was that you were friends with Tomioka Giyuu, Sanemi thought as he stole glimpses at you from the corner of his eye. He couldn't stand that guy. The way he looked upon others was always from a superior point of view. The way he talked, rarely and unbothered, was always a favor for anyone who could hear him. You were the same, somewhat worse. On top of all of Tomioka Giyuu's flaws, when you would open your mouth to talk daggers seemed to stab him. You were brutally honest when provoked by him and almost too sure of your own strength. The big difference, however, was that Shinazugawa Sanemi wanted to kill Tomioka for his attitude, while he wanted to fuck you out of it. Sanemi was mad that you always spent your time with tomioka it pissed him off. The only girl he was interested in spent time around the person he hated most. But he was mostly jealous HE had everything Tomioka did. And today he was going to steel you back from Tomioka. But the thing is He never really knew how to talk to you. Granted, he would never act based on his feelings or let them show in any way. He admired you for your strength as well as your beauty. While he did respect you as one of his fellow Hashira, his eyes would always slip down your body, too weak to resist the way your uniform fit on your curves, the soft skin of your exposed neck or your long hair that always smelled like summer flowers. He would soon fight with himself to stop staring at you, afraid that someone might notice. He would always find moments when he was sure no one was looking, not even you, to see from the distance how bad your injuries were after a mission and he would try to find out if you were fine from the people at the infirmary. But he would never tell you. You rarely ran into each other because of countless missions back to back, both of you being Hashira. You worked on your own most of the time, backed up by lower ranked demon slayers or alongside Tomioka on tougher missions, simply because you got along very well. You and Shinazugawa met occasionally in training, although rather seldom, and during the official meetings at the Ubuyashiki manor. He felt the need to get closer to you, but he didn't have the means to do so. So he resorted to what he knew best, attacking Tomioka indirectly, knowing that you won't miss the chance to step in and try to outsmart him with another witty remark. Most of the words exchanged between the two of you were on a passive-aggressive tone and he was certain that his feelings, buried deep inside his heart, were concealed by the well-known rivalry. But he liked that in a girl he like a girl that had an attitude.

As you where talking to Tomioka. Sanemi was ease dropping. As he heard Tomioka say

"Hey y/n would you mabey like to go out with me sometime?" Tomioka said.

This pissed sanemi off so bad he had to so something...

"Aww Tomioka that's so sweet, Ye-" y/n was cut off

" NO SHE WOULD NOT' sanemi stepped in

sanemi then pulled you away from Tomioka and started to cuddle you like you where his and no one elses. You did not really like sanemi I mean he was always mean and hateful. The only time you talked was either arguing or for missions. But as you looked up at him cuddling you you felt something... No you couldn't you where failing for Sanemi Shinazugawa! no no no no he was just a friend and not even that. But he did have good looks, and a soft voice (at times), a perfect body, cute hair, big purple eyes, an attitude... then you realized mabye Sanemi was not as bad as you thought..maybe just mabye he was the one for you.

" Sanemi! what are you doing" you said pushing him off of you.

" Your mine understand" he said

all you did is nod your head. Wait did this now mean you and him where a thing!

"Sanemi are me and you umm "Dating"?" you said looking up at him

"If that means Tomioka will stop hitting on you then yes we are!" he said slightly smiling.

A few mouths have passed and ever since Tomioka has not bothered you as much. And you where starting to think he was the one you wanted to have by your side forever and always. you wanted to marry him at the least so you made you happy little way to him and asked him

"When will you marry me!?" you said.

" W-What" he said

" When will you marry me!" you yelled all the other hashrias hearing you.

"Ohhh~ sanemi can get bitches" Tegean said.

" INDEAD HE CAN" Rengoku said

" I want to get married Sanemi!" you said.

They had made sure that their 'victim' was okay and after that, they left, but that person had already gotten tired of being the main target of that duo.

'I swear to god... One of these days I'll get revenge and those two will get a spoonful of their own medicine...', Giyuu stood up frustrated, he just wanted to go home and rest after that.

If there was anyone he would turn to for this, it was Shinobu, he would probably talk to Mitsuri, but he preferred to avoid that for two reasons: 1) Obanai and 2) She's part of the team, so...

'So... It's happened again, huh?'

'Mhm... It seems like those two won't stop unless someone puts them in their place, so, will you help me or not? What is so funny?'

Giyuu crossed his arms, it was a serious moment, he didn't understand why Shinobu was laughing, he hadn't told a joke after all.

'I'm sorry but... You? Tomioka-San, no offense or anything but... Do you think you can do it?', she smiled, hoping Giyuu would understand his point, but apparently he didn't.

'Hehehe ooooh Tomioka, it's just that you tend to have more of a "lee" role than a "ler." There's not a big chance you'll make it, they'll tickle you again...' 'I'll give you something to really laugh about now, Shinazugawa Sanemi...', was all Sanemi heard when the reason for his laughter changed from mocking Giyuu to laughing at the tickling sensations he was feeling at that moment.

With Tengen it was more difficult to try to make him laugh, taking into account his strength, he was trying everything possible not to laugh and to try to push them both away. But he couldn't do more when they both sat in each of his arms, now there was no escape for him.

'Well Sanemi, listen to me and you will repeat what I do' 'Okaaaay...', Sanemi was not happy.

Again, Giyuu told Sanemi what Shinobu had recommended, taking into account the height difference, two fingers digging in the center of his armpits were going to be enough, but they were a little more 'extreme' and decided to use three. They think it was the best idea they both have ever had.

'O-OHOHOI!! YOHOHOHOU LIHIHITTLE-!! MHMHMHMH!!'

'Don't even try to suppress your laughter, I don't think you want Shinazugawa and I to make you really laugh...', Tengen, for some reason, felt like Tomioka was blackmailing or challenging him.

For him, it was impossible, he had gotten away from a situation like that, and he had done it when it was the RenMitsu team, who knew the exact places they should tickle him if they wanted to beat him. What could those two do against him? NOTHING!

Or at least that's what Tengen believed... 'Looks like he's being very stubborn, huh? What do we do now Giyuu?'

Just like Rengoku, Tengen also felt how Giyuu took the life out of him with each raspberry, in case it wasn't enough, the movement of his head and added to the fact that Sanemi dug his fingers into the worst part of his armpits, he was getting nothing but laughter.

Tengen was stronger compared to these two, but he was the same as Sanemi, he preferred to spend his strength avoiding laughing than fighting them. 'Hahahahaha so now you're not so fLaShY, huh?! What do you think of this?! And that?!'

'Do you want to come help me here?'

'No thanks, I've already found this guy's sweet spot. Now I'll make him pay!' he laughed, making Giyuu shrug and continue.

The minutes passed, they both only stopped when they realized that Tengen couldn't laugh anymore, his face was so red from laughing so much, that he made them both smile, stopping and getting off him so that he could curl up while he tried to catch his breath.

'I never thought I would say this... But you are a great "ler" Tomioka! Good job...', Sanemi raised his left hand, high-fiving Giyuu and then turning it into a fist and high-fiving him again. 'Thanks I guess... I hope this teaches you a lesson... See you...!'

They both left, leaving the ones who used to be the tickle monsters lying on the floor. Were they planning revenge? It was likely... But at least, Giyuu and Sanemi would have a long break from their antics.

It can be roses or your favourite things. All the Hashira were very devoted to you and they all have there reasons for it. “Let’s pray for our loving Goddess!” Gyomei said all the Hashira nodded.

“Dear divine thank you for making us live another day. Without you we wouldn’t feel any emotion we hope we can forgive us for all the sins we did and if you can’t we promise we do anything for you to forgive us”

After the Hashira were done praying they got the gifts they got you and they placed it down on your altar. “I wish one day our divine one could come to Earth” Giyuu mumbled but yet all the Hashira could hear him. “I hate to agree with you but I want her to come down to Earth to” Sanemi said glaring at Giyuu rudely. They were about to go home until..

Someone dropped down from the building and fell face flat! It left a hole in the wall and the Hashira were mad and wanted to kill you for destroying your altar. The person taught they were a demon as they had black horns. “This demon destroyed our goddesses altar. We have to kill them brutally” Muichiro muttered madly. “I’ll make sure to torture them with a heavy poison!” Shinobu smiled in a menacing way. Obanai was about to stab you until you woke up. They looked at your appearance and you had star pupils? Only there divine one has star eyes! And you also have black horns? Do they think your there goddess? NOPE! They think your a copycat! “This copycat had the urge to copy our divine one appearance!“ Obanai madly said. “These are the people I helped when they were in a rough time. I remember but I don’t blame them for thinking I’m a identity fraud I wouldn’t believe myself either” you taught to yourself. “Wait I’m actually not a fraud!” You said! You were not scared as you were immortal. But not to your surpriseyou were “lying” that you were the God they worshipped. “You have guts to lie that your our divine one your nothing but a demon” Sanemi said smiling in a menacing way. You we’re going to defend yourself until Mitsuri’s blade scratched you. “That’s what you gets for disrespecting our God! >:(“. Gyomei about to finish the final blow until your Black blood was shown. All of them were thinking “Wait I taught demons had Red blood like us? Wait! That means!” They all went down all their knees immediately after they realized. “Please forgive us our divine one we were foolish and mistaken you for a demon and a fake” Gyomei said while crying. “It’s ok guys I forgive you all! You guys can stand” All the Hashira signed in relieved and they stood up. They wouldn’t know what to do if you didn’t forgive them they were grateful that your such a forgiving and nice God.

“Our divine one we are so grateful you ascended to earth!” Rengoku said coming one step closer to you. “I hope we will be of worth to you!” Tengen said. Meanwhile every Hashira was already thinking of a way to kidnap you. “Would you like to come with us. You don’t hav a place to stay..” Muichiro curiously said. “Oh don’t worry I’m good! I can just Uhm use magic to make a building” all the Hashira was mad at that! They needed there Goddess to stay with them! So Gyomei knocked you out and you were bleeding a little your very strong but physically weak. Sanemi went to go check on you “Lets hope she will still forgive us..” wiping your Black blood away.

• Some of the Hashira didn’t worship you in the beginning but after you went into there lives they couldn’t find a way for you to get back out.

• Sanemi didn’t worship you and often ignored the posters of you until after he killed his mom. While we was walking home still sad about his moms death he started to cry until he saw a poster of you. He felt happier? But why did he his mom died because of him. Until it clicked he felt happier because you felt pity and sadness for him you wanted to be his new mom. And he accepted that rather quickly. When he was still a kid and was killing demons by tying them up he said some lines such as “This is for [Name]” or “[Name] is proud of me” and after he kills the demon he says “I know your proud of me my divine one” or “My divine one are you proud of me? Why am I even saying this I know you are..right?” Sometime he kills people for sacrifices to you surely you enjoy the things he does for you?

• Even through he is colourblind he can see you in colour

• Tengen’s clan worshipped you so he was forced to worship you but he didn’t pray to you or participate in any religion related stuff since he didn’t participate in any religious stuff he taught you hated him. But after his clan died he felt lighter in his body and he felt Happier when it was raining he didn’t have an umbrella but an umbrella flew his way untouched and he taught you gave mercy on him. You still loved him you gave him a second chance he must make it up to you! He prays every night for forgiveness for 2 straight months. When he thinks he’s forgiven he does rituals. The rituals are that he kills people and puts their blood in a cup and prays hoping you will ascend to earth.

• Giyuu knew about you in the beginning but he really didn’t worship you he barley paid attention to you until his elder sister died he taught that was you punishing him for his ‘sins’ but he hated you he despised you after Sabito died he hated you more for not blessing him with luck until he ears a voice in his head saying “I’m sorry please forgive me” and he taught that was you. Why are you begging him to forgive you? Your the god not him but it doesn’t stop him from obsessing over you. Always praying to you and begs for blessings once in a while and you give them to him but not exactly.

• Giyuu is also the second one closest to you he taught you human things and took care of you. You see him as a dad. But he sees you as a fragile thing that needs to be protected.

• The day before Kanae died Shinobu saw Kanae having photos you everywhere the house and she was mad at her for this “Big sister! If [Name] was a really powerful god then why didn’t she save our family!” Kanae was smiling and just patted her head which made Shinobu rage intensify. After Kanae died Shinobu saw this as a warning to worship you and she did praying to every night but then she guilt tripped herself that you were her saviour and she convinced Kanao and Aoi to worship you to.

• Mitsuri didn’t worship you in the beginning as she didn’t know who you were but after her failed marriage courting she was walking and saw an altar she went in it and saw a picture of you. She saw how you were the most beautiful thing to exist she needed to worship you. She found out your name, your family member, your favorite things and your backstory she cries when she saw how you were so mistreated by your parents because you tried to go to Earth. she needed to protect you! And she did by killing people who spoke badly of you.

• Obanai was the first one to worship you while all the females in his family was worshiping the serpent demon he worshipped you. He had a dream of you and you were talking to him how he will escape one day. He woke up he didn’t want the dream to end. Before he met Mitsuri you were the only female he liked (Platonic) he kills people who dear disrespect the first women who helped him thru his trauma. He dreams of you 4 times a month and your the ones giving him dreams and you make sure to check on him daily.

• Muichiro didn’t really like you only because Yuichiro didn’t like you so he listened to Yuichiro but then after Yuichiro died he hated you more. Until he randomly started to forget things but why did he remember the hatred he has for you? Until it clicked. He only remembers you because you matter to him.. He’s happy he doesn’t forget you he prays to you daily and goes to your altar a lot.

• Muichiro clings onto you often when your in the basement no where to run.

• Gyomei Didn’t worship you as he worships Buddha but then one day we was walking past your altar he didn’t have any intentions to go in but he had a gut feeling to but then something unexpected happened. He acutally could see how you look like but he couldn’t see the people around him.. only your picture. This much be a sign he has to worship you! He worships you and prays to you daily. When he’s eating he always leaves a chair beside him as your sitting with him.

• Rengoku didn’t worship you in the beginning as he taught your the reason his mom died and his dad is an alcoholic until one day he saw senjuro praying to you. He didn’t like that one bit but he didn’t confront him but then the next day he saw Senjuro so much happier Rengoku knew it was your doing he decided to worship you. Whenever he’s in a conversation he always brings up you but if a person says anything rude about you ex: “She’s not the divine one” the only thing that will save them from death if there in another religion or they just say there joking and say compliments about you and Rengoku will join then into saying compliments.

After you ascended all the Hashira were so happy and they needed to kidnap you to make sure your ‘safe’ you can’t be rude to them its impossible for you to! You allow them to be clingy to you and kill people for you even though they disturb you. To make it even worse they are delusional to! They read all the scriptures about you they say no one can compare the worship we have to anyone else. They think you enjoy the things they are doing to you.

How would each hashira from Kimetsu no academy react with the new teacher y/n assigned as a preschool teacher entering the academy. They won’t see her as much as she is not in the same grade level she’ll be teaching but when they do see her, are they in love with her? Do they see her as a good friend? Will some of them hate her? I want to include muchirio who is a student at the academy too. But what exactly might happen?

Okay! This took me a while to figure out (and remember what each of them does in that AU) but I think I have it down. This was a great choice because I've worked as a preschool teacher lol. I hope you like it!

Starting a new job is always nerve-wracking, especially as a teacher. You not only have to get the respect of your fellow coworkers but your students as well. Luckily, things are a little easier as a preschool teacher. Kimetsu no Academy is a huge place that covers school from preschool to high school. While you’re generally in your own section, you still have met some of the staff and older students…

The Reactions

Sanemi: He learns you’re not afraid of him the moment you drag him away from where the children are sleeping and demand that he keep his tone down. You don’t care that he’s chasing down some delinquent student, if the children wake up before they’re ready, your day will be ten times harder. He admires you for the way you stand your ground and decides that he enjoys bantering with you. It’s hard to find someone who won’t run. Honestly, if he wasn’t as madly in love with Kanae, he could see himself being swayed to you. If either of you didn’t kill each other when you argued…

Shinobu: Shinobu is one of the first to meet you. She is brought along with Kanao by Kanae who comes to introduce herself and warn you about the way the school is haunted. At first, you don’t believe her, but there are times when things move, the light flicker or one of the toys makes noise on its own. It’s usually during naptime. After it happens one too many times, you seek Kanae out for help. She, Kanao and Shinobu bring you talismans and teach you the chant she uses. You become great friends with Kanae and start to see Shinobu and Kanao as younger sisters.

Gyomei: You can’t lie, at first glance Gyomei was intimidating but you’ve learned long ago that appearances don’t always tell the truth. It doesn’t take long for you to learn that Gyomei is a sweetheart who you can always rely on if you need assistance with something. Especially if it requires his strength or size. The two of you become good friends and Gyomei is usually your first choice when it comes to inviting someone into the class for assistance. The kids love him and he’s gentle enough back. It might be enough for you to have a bit of a crush, but you’re certainly not going to admit it.

Mitsuri: You need Mitsuri the first time you order pizza for the class. It’s a celebration and a pizza party is the perfect way to have it. She’s bright and bubbly and not that much younger than you. The two of you get on fabulously and it quickly escalates from her delivering pizzas to the two of you going shopping together. You will, however, never get over how much the girl can eat. It’s honestly impressive and you can’t help but wonder where she puts it all. God forbid anyone around you makes a comment though because you’re not afraid to stand up and defend her. She’s your best friend now after all.

Obanai: You don’t have too many interactions with Obanai, outside of staff meetings. But he does have a way of coming around and stopping by your classroom with Mitsuri is there. You know she has a crush on your fellow teacher so you’re not ashamed to casually mention when she’s coming by in his hearing distance. Especially since you can see how interested he is too. You’re just waiting for the day the two of them get together. You can’t wait to celebrate with Mitsuri and know you helped make it possible.

Giyuu: You like Giyuu. He’s straightforward and a bit intense, but he does actually listen to your concerns and thoughts. You find him to be a good companion to hang out with, and his quietness is a welcome reprieve from the screaming and incessant talking of preschoolers. The two of you bond telling the ridiculous stories of the students and you’re one of the few people who have successfully made him laugh out loud with one of the questions your students asked you. He has a crush, but he assumes you’re not interested so he doesn’t confess. He’d rather have your friendship than nothing.

Muichiro: You meet Muichiro and his classmates during a drill. The older kids come to help escort the younger children out and entertain them as they’re teaching them the proper way to react. You don’t really interact with him, you don’t have the need to, but you appreciate the care he and his friends show to the younger kids. 

Kyojuro: Kyojuro was one of the first to welcome you to the school. He’s energetic, and caring and his willingness to get down and interact with the preschoolers, as well as throw himself fully into their games, makes him a welcome visitor. Kyojuro thinks it's admirable how you care for the children in your class and is always the first to volunteer with you when it comes to staying overnight for the security rotations. He doesn’t believe in ghosts, but you do so he’ll help with no complaints. He absolutely has a crush but he doesn’t want to push his admiration. He’ll wait until he’s confident that you may return his feelings and try to plan the perfect confession.

Tengen: Ngl, the first time you met, you put the fear of god into Tengen because he blew something up too close to your classroom during naptime. Needless to say, he admires how flashy you are. He did, however, listen and there is a scheduled time of silence where there’s a lack of explosions. At least near your building. Tengen finds you highly amusing and he’s the first to invite you out to any event he’s going to, even if he knows you’ll bring others like Giyuu and Mitsuri with you. Tengen is hopeful that Kyojuro wins your affection and will not hesitate to try to schedule group dates between the two of you and him and his wives.
