laura lee isn't catholic but hoo boy does my catholic raised ass relate to her feeling like she brought the plane down because she called her piano teacher a cunt in her head. like i didn't know the word cunt when i was a little catholic school kid taking music lessons with my very catholic piano teacher but if i HAD known the word cunt, i would have used it in my brain. and then felt very bad about it.

forgive me if you've been asked this before or if its annoying, but how did you learn to use colored pencils like that? your art is so special to me.
ty :) I took an art class for a few years where our teacher had us buy prismacolor pencils as one of the art supplies and had us use them kinda like paints, pressing down hard right away and blending the colors together. its not how youre supposed to use them she was just trying to teach us to use color and ig this was more to the point. I picked them up again years after i stopped going to that class just bc they were there and i wanted to play around w them a bit and ended up actually enjoying it when doing it on my own terms lol

the principals meeting with tita conductor was a little nervewracking given that i don't really have anything to contribute in the way of Real Opinions about bowing and just tend to go with whatever either the concertmaster or principal violas go with, but it was fun to just have that quartet playing together even though it really exposed the whole 'playing catch-up' thing i'm still going through because i feel like we've never had a chance to explore that dynamic with each other

if you are new at being an adult/living on your own (especially if you started out adulthood or post grad life during the early days of the pandemic) and feel lonely despite having friends and people you talk to, please invite people to hang out at your place. this sounds like stupid advice but not enough people take it to heart. “oh we’re not that close” that’s how you get that close!!! I cannot emphasize enough how much your friends don’t care if you have socks on the floor or some dishes in the sink or a cramped apartment that doesn’t look very nice or some central activity to keep them entertained. invite people over. don’t limit yourself to things that cost money and exist only in public. let yourself be with people in the intimacy of your own home. the number of times a friend has come over and just started doing the dishes for me or I’ve sat matching socks while they folded their laundry on the floor. let them bring some snacks instead of venmoing each other for takeout. provide some tea or alcohol or whatever you like and can afford. you don’t need an excuse to see people. you don’t need an excuse to let them see you.
