Karl just comes home after a really hard time with the traveling but the fiancees aren't there, and aren't answering their coms.

What would he do?

Oh no! He’d definitely get pretty upset, and try to reach out to someone who may know where they were but can’t really get a word out on the communicator before he just starts crying.

He calls Wilbur first since he’s usually in las Nevadas with Q, and Wilbur at that point would have gotten pretty close with the fiancés. He knows trying to get Q would be a pointless endeavor, they have him locked in meetings practically all day and Slime has his com. So Wilbur goes to check on Karl himself, contacting George and Dream and demanding they try to find Sapnap and send him home.

Quackity gets out of the meeting for Purpled to tell him Karl called Wilbur and Wilbur took off to go check on him and the avian fucking books it out of Las Nevadas, telling Purpled to tell the others that his fiancés come before their stupid projects.

When Quackity gets there, Sapnap’s there as well, and Karl is curled up with the fireborn on the couch and Wilbur’s making dinner. Karl doesn’t eat, feeling too sick from the traveling and the breakdown earlier, and Sapnap opts to make sure he knows they’d never separate from him in a literal sense. Wilbur doesn’t question when Karl doesn’t come down for supper or Sapnap’s purring, recognizing it as a comforting purr rather than a happy one. (He lives with a netherborn himself, he knows the difference)

Wilbur sends a message to Karl’s communicator before he leaves, letting him know if anything ever happened and he couldn’t reach Sapnap or Quackity, he’d go and check in with him and stay with him until they could get to him.

Quackity sleeps in that night as well, wrapping Karl in as tight a hug as he can and promising that meetings would never keep him away from the other again. Karl’s afternoon was very shaky, but they make sure it’s a good night.

Karl asks Niki to make cookies so he can take them to Wilbur, despite the fact that he can cook. He just thinks that her cookies are superior, she literally owns a bakery after all. He sits with her while she makes them and tells her what happened, and Niki doesn’t charge him for the batch. She tells him that the same rule applies for her; if something happens and Sapnap and Q can’t be reached, she is always reachable. And if she isn’t, Jack is, even if he tries not to be. All Karl would have to do is say Niki’s not answering and Jack would send her his way.

There’s another situation that happens like this where he simply stays with George and Dream, and while it’s not as heartfelt they take good care of him, makes sure he knows that they are there for him and that his fiancés would never permanently leave. He’d never be left to his own thoughts if he didn’t want to be. (George playfully rudely reminds Karl that they all have communicators for a reason, and Dream bites back with “well he’d try to contact you more if you didn’t sleep all the time-“ it’s the first time they get Karl to laugh while he’s with them, and it makes both of them feel so accomplished that George doesn’t even fight about the jab at his sleeping)

Sapnap goes to pick him up and he’s passed out on the couch, sleeping pretty peacefully for someone who just got back from what most would consider hell. George and Dream give him hell too, for not being readily available when Karl needed him. Quackity too, for that matter.

Sapnap and Quackity only let that scenario happen once. Never again, they make sure that they are always accessible and ready to return home at a moment’s notice, no matter how far away they are. Even so, if something were to come up Karl’s got a pretty big support system.
