#7: How'd I Get So Lucky Finding You (S9E01)

Imagine feeling lucky in a fallen world. 🥹 Losing so much and still feeling like you won because you found the ultimate love of your life. 😭 It’s beautiful and powerful that Richonne’s love is so strong that it has them feeling fortunate even after enduring a series of unfortunate events. And in this stunning scene, we get to see so much of why Rick and Michonne have an everlasting love. This scene is an absolutely heartwarming delight and it features my favorite thing Rick has ever said to Michonne in TWD 😍...

I will forever love the state of Richonne’s relationship in s9. They finally had time to breathe and be a family with Judith, and I loved every moment they got to relish in being together.

I always knew Rick and Michonne wouldn't be the type of couple who were only compatible in fight and survival mode - they're equally compatible in just living and being mode. 

So I appreciate that this scene takes its time to just be as the two cuddle up and showcase yet again why they work so perfectly with each other. They truly belong together and fit together like two pieces of a puzzle. 🥰

Also, I will always like that this scene of Richonne snuggled up in bed takes place in the Sanctuary of all places. Just more proof that nothing, not even the oppressive reign of Negan, was going to break Richonne because now Rick and Michonne are up in that batty man's crib fully immersed in their sweet Richonne bubble. 🤗

They just feel so married with Rick washing up and then getting in bed with Michonne as the two just instinctively get wrapped up in each other. And the way Rick kisses her forehead. 🥹 It’s always so clear that they feel the most safe to completely decompress and let their guard down with each other and are so precious to each other.

And I’m just giddy every time I hear Michonne adorably and playfully call Rick “the famous Rick Grimes” with that shoulder shimmy while resting on his chest. Perfection. 👌🏽

I love their teasing banter and how she’s addressing the way Rick's a legend to the people. As he should be. And Rick’s playful, "don’t you start too" response to hearing her say that is just great. 😊

It’s adorable that she plays with his beard while noting that the reverence people have for him is sweet. She gets it. She says, “just don’t let it get to your head” and Richonne tones for the win once again in this scene. 😍

And again the two bring up Maggie and how they feel for her since she has to deal with losing that Hilltop kid, which is particularly sad too because R&M lost their own teenage son just about a year and a half ago.

Rick and Michonne then have this moment where they both just take a synchronized deep breath and these two seriously always feel like one, especially in the way they breathe in this moment. 

I like how Rick seems tired as he closes his eyes, but then Michonne says his name, and he can always be awake and alert for her when they need to talk.

I really like too how Michonne and Rick both get honest about the fact that they wonder if they should have just killed Negan. To which I was like, yes...

But I appreciate that Michonne says "we" when talking about this choice because she and Rick are a package deal. Saving Negan without consulting the others was Rick’s most controversial move among tf, and it clearly had some tf members feeling understandably upset. But it’s nice that, by saying "we," Michonne doesn’t make Rick feel like he was alone in that choice.

Rick thinks the Saviors just want food, not Negan back in charge, and Michonne reminds him they don’t know that for sure, which is valid, and it’s great they can communicate like this.

And then I love that Michonne lets him know she’s been thinking about an agreement between the communities and that she maps out the idea with her hand over his heart. Their closeness really is unparalleled.

Also the way Rick is looking at his wife throughout this scene is um...it's gold and damn near made me lose my train of thought so let me get myself back on track lol.

I love that Rick affirms Michonne's idea, telling her it’s good and smart, and how he looks right at her while saying it could bring people closer together. And the way Michonne touches him. I love that they really don’t take their hands off each other for pretty much the entire scene. 😊

And then Rick opens up and lets her know what's on his mind as he shares that Daryl isn’t happy, and it makes him worried about things breaking down. Scenes like this are why I believe Michonne is not just Rick's wife but truly his best friend. They always can confide in each other and express everything going on inside - their hopes, ideas, worries, and fears.

It’s sweet that Michonne acknowledges the validity of what Daryl feels. And Rick groans a bit and says Daryl cares too much sometimes. I appreciate that Michonne can sense Rick's headspace so clearly here and doesn’t want a divide to be caused between those two brothers (even tho it ends up being a bit too late sadly).

The way Michonne whispers 'hey' and then gently turns Rick's face towards her, it’s like a visible illustration of how she centers him and reminds him to stay focused on the good and how to move things forward. And of course, Rick is receptive to this redirection as he looks into her eyes. Love it. 😊

Michonne acknowledges that if Daryl is worried then there’s a reason. And again, because R&M are a package deal, she asks, "What do we do about it?" knowing however they handle it, it will be together. 

And then, like a well-oiled machine, Rick says he thinks they need to fix that bridge, and Michonne says she'll get the people to agree to a charter. Look at these leaders making big community decisions all while snuggling in bed together. 🥰

So then it’s Rick’s turn to do some teasing when he asks if it’ll be a "charter or constitution?" Again, I love how lines like these show Rick and Michonne know each other's humor as Michonne amusedly confirms it'll be a charter. And it's just sweet too cuz, while they're playing around, I'm sure Rick fully believes Michonne would be capable of drafting up a whole effective constitution for the new world lol.

Their synchronized smiles at this moment are seriously the best. 🙌🏽And then Rick kissing her three times is even better. The way Michonne smiles at him. The way he always has to come back for more. I live.😍

And I just absolutely love getting to see Rick and Michonne in such a relaxed happy state. Scenes like this make it so clear why Rick and Michonne haven't moved on from each other after all those years apart. You don't move on from a love like this.

Richonne gives each other joy like no other and this whole exchange shows how they work so effortlessly together as leaders and lovers. What a pair. 🤩 As Andy said, they truly are perfect partners in this imperfect world.

Plus it’s just always so sweet that two of the strongest, fiercest, most intimidating warriors in the world find each other so cute and cuddly. 😋

Y'all, Richonne + cars is a thing, and also Richonne + candle-lit scenes too, because they are always A1.

...But then the candles get blown out, and this scene proceeds to reach its peak of perfection. 🤩

As someone who loves a lengthy Richonne scene, I remember first watching this ep live and being so happy that they weren’t cutting away from them once the lights went out. I had no idea it was because we were in for something so heavenly. 😇

Cuz they turn off the lights and then immediately wrap their arms around each other again to go to sleep and it’s always so sweet seeing Rick softly touch her hair. All the little gestures just feel like this person in their arms is their treasure who has their whole heart. #ILoveEveryRichonneDetail

Then....y'all then Rick opens his eyes to utter the greatest thing he's ever said to Michonne thus far - “How’d I get so lucky finding you?”

BEAUTIFUL. Powerful, meaningful, romantic, fitting, perfect. I could go on. 👩🏽‍🍳💋

I love the delivery of the line because it really feels like it’s this reoccurring thought for Rick that, at this moment, his mind was thinking and just had to utter out loud.

It's fitting he’d say this after the convo they just had because it really did capture why Michonne is so perfect for him, and I love that he knows it and vocalizes it. Michonne is a genuinely phenomenal individual, so it makes perfect sense that Rick feels not just happy but lucky to have her.

And just to think about their journey and know that we’d arrive at a point where Rick reflects on when he met Michonne and feels so personally lucky to have found her. 😭 She’s his soulmate, and he knows it wholeheartedly. 

And I love that beyond literally finding each other, there’s something deep about the way Rick and Michonne found each other in their truest form. They saw each other in a deeper way and brought each other back from the lost state they were in. 

Also, I always think it’s sweet how Rick said this with zero other motives - this was just his abundant love for her pouring out. I’m so grateful that in Rick's final season, they didn’t give him and Michonne any tiffs or division, but rather showed that they have only grown closer and more in love since the last season. 

Like after one of the series' longest time jumps, I adore that we return to a Rick and Michonne who have clearly spent the last year and a half strengthening their bond even more, and healing, and fully enjoying their life together. They are really and truly an unbreakable unit who only fall more in love the more time they spend together.

When I think about all Rick and Michonne have been through together and all they’ve built, it’s just the absolute greatest thing to know Rick thinks about his life and feels so sincerely lucky that he found Michonne. We knew that the day they found each other at the prison fence was life-changing, and it's great to see them two know it too.

If you were to tell Season One Rick that he was going to eventually lose his son, Carl, but would still have family that made him feel like a lucky man, he'd probably think you were crazy. And yet, this is the power of Richonne. The family found between Rick and Michonne runs so deep and is so authentic that, even after the most painful loss imaginable, Rick knows he still has so much to live for because he has Michonne and Judith.

Then it’s so sweet that Michonne hears Rick say this heart-bursting line and takes his hand because she feels the same way, and is likely thinking that's the...

And then Michonne softly tells Rick, "We both lost enough, it’s time we won a little don’t you think?" My heart. 😭 This moment is everything.

And y’all, I had gone back and re-read one of my old Richonne in Retrospect posts from several years ago where I reflected on a s6 scene between Michonne and David, that Alexandrian who got bit in 6.03. In that 6.03 scene, David talks to Michonne about his love story which completely and intentionally mirrors Michonne's own love story with Rick. And in that old post, I wrote this: 

"Rick and Michonne finding each other in all this is really one of the best things that happened to them. And in this type of world people take a whole lot of L’s so it’s cool that they were actually able to find such a big win in finding each other…and if R&M ever verbally imply a similar sentiment to each other about how finding each other in all this was everything, this will literally be me…"

So the fact that over a year after I wrote that, Rick and Michonne express exactly this...😭🙌🏾😭 It is the best ever. And just as I predicted, that gif above was and still is me whenever I watch this scene. It is just so powerful for Rick and Michonne to feel like amid all their loss, they still won big time by finding each other and falling in love. 

And then Michonne so lovingly kisses his hand, and Rick is perfectly content with that exchange as he shuts his eyes. But then, once again, the gift that keeps on giving gives us even more. 🤩

Cuz Michonne turns to look at him and then Rick...y’all, I’ll never get over how he looks at her right here. Like he looks right at Michonne with a breathtaking look that says, “I’m wholly and completely yours” and so clearly shows that she seriously means everything to him.

(also! y'all, I wrote this whole post before that V-day trailer, and so the fact that we've now got to hear Rick directly say, "I am yours," before the show even officially premieres 😍😍😍 my goodness TOWL is just blessings on blessings)

So then they kiss and it wonderfully ramps up with Michonne getting on top of him and reiterating "the famous Rick Grimes." 😏

…except this time, i think sis means he’s famous for reasons only she knows about. and that’s their business. 😋

As Danai has noted before, Rick knows how to make Michonne vulnerable, and Michonne knows how to make Rick laugh, which is just sublime.

And the way Rick laughs at the close of this scene - you know that if there’s one person he likes being "the famous Rick Grimes" to it’s Mrs. Grimes. 😊

Y’all, this whole scene blessed us ten times over. Our ship has it all. And we really do get whatever we want lol. 💅🏽

(Side note: it's also important to note that we don't just get whatever we want as some sort of forced fan service from the show. (Considering Gimple was planting Richonne seeds before viewers had even seen the two on screen together, that fan-service take simply can't be true). The real reason we get what we want is because the very love story we want to see is also the very love story the show wanted to organically craft. These TWD writers, actors, producers, network/production companies etc, fully recognize Rick and Michonne's relationship as a special marriage with crazy love between two tethered soulmates, and we're just in agreement and alignment with that. And I feel fortunate that the canon story being told is as beautiful, romantic, and authentic as we wanted and knew it would be)

I’m so grateful for this tender scene and that these actors are so capable of playing every shade of Richonne perfectly. Like we got serious, playful, romantic, steamy, and utterly heartfelt all in this one scene. 🙌🏾

And while Rick has expressed feeling so lucky to have Michonne in the way he looks at her for many seasons, it was wonderful to hear him also outright verbalize that in finding her he found a true reward. He doesn’t take her for granted, and Michonne doesn’t either, knowing that he is her win in all this too. 

This moment is also beautiful because Rick and Michonne are two selfless individuals who have been put through the wringer on their individual and shared journeys yet still remained dedicated to giving their all to protect their people - And then the universe sent them each other and said ♡ you deserve to be taken care of too, ♡ you deserve to be held too, ♡ you deserve a gift that's just for you too. ♡ oh and also the gift that we're sending you is...

Rick and Michonne are each other's blessing. This scene solidified that beautifully.

They won because of each other, and we won with special scenes like this that contribute so much to Richonne’s perfect love story. 😌

Sometimes it's still hard to believe hot water is so easy to come by on the other side of the wards. Emmett is still getting used to a dozen ways Rime was trapped in its founding era, and the kinds of technology that have been developed outside the magic that would have stifled them or rendered them inert inside the wards, but one of the most surprising is the fact that out here, all it takes to get warm water is turning on a tap and waiting a few moments.  He'd feel like he was wasting it if he filled the tub, so he turns it off after the water is a few inches deep and starts hunting for the soap. He jumps when the bathroom door opens and Rory walks in. "You need more water than that," she announces by way of explanation and turns the tap back on. "Especially if it's your shoulders getting stiff again." She knows him unfortunately well.  Thankfully, by this point, she also knows him well enough to know when he wants to be alone. After testing the temperature of the water with her fingers and slightly adjusting the taps, she backs out of the room. Their relationship is all sorts of odd and confusing that Emmett really doesn't have the mental energy to think about right now. He's just glad Rory's sticking around. He has to admit, she was right. When he finally shuts off the water and steps into it, it comes up just to the back of his neck when he leans back. The tightness in the old scars across his shoulders starts to fade, and the headache that's been throbbing in his temples all afternoon eases. He can't stay in the water too long, he'll get dizzy again and they've learned through painful experience that Rory absolutely cannot lift him off the floor if he falls. But for now, this feels amazing.

💤 - A few extra hours of sleep

Emmett seems a lot younger when he's sleeping. He almost looks his real age when the worry lines fade out and Rory can't see the years of hurt in his eyes. Now that they've dyed his hair to make it less evident he's gifted, it's even more jarring. If Marcus wasn't dead, Rory would want to go back and kill him again for all the damage and trauma he's inflicted on someone who did nothing to warrant that kind of pain. The best she can do now is picking up the pieces. And at the moment, that means letting Emmett have a little more rest. They have nothing pressing to do, nowhere to go, nothing that has to be done right away. Carlo's sleeping over with a friend. She leans back carefully, not wanting to disturb Emmett, and glances out the window at the sun coming up. It's still strange for her to see it. Emmett shifts when the warm band of light creeps across the blankets and over his shoulder. He blinks a couple times, but settles deeper into bed, wrapping his arms around the pillow the way Rory is familiar with Carlo doing when he's tired. She ruffles a hand through Emmett's hair, and he smiles in his sleep.

🌸 - Something that calms them

"What'cha makin'?" Rory leans on Emmett's workbench. "You'll see soon enough." "You said that twenty minutes ago," Rory whines, poking the piece of wood experimentally with one finger.  "Making something good takes time," Emmett replies.  "It just looks like a knot," Rory says. Emmett taps it with the chisel a few more times, and then the whole thing falls apart into a dozen disconnected chunks. "Oh, sorry," Rory says. "I didn't mean to distract you and make you break it." "I didn't break it," Emmett says."Well, only sort of. It was supposed to do that." He picks up the pieces and hands them to her. "And now you get to put it back together." She's good at that. He watches her flip the pieces over a few times, forehead crinkling like it does when she's calling on her gift to show her a solution. "Okay," she says, and then fits the pieces back together seamlessly. "Now what?" Emmett takes it back and twists it slightly, watching the pieces fall apart again. "I thought maybe you could...you know, do this instead of pulling on your hair or scratching the back of your hand." A new patch of lichen marks appeared there recently, and Rory's picked it bloody while they were waiting for Carlo to have his broken arm set last week. "Oh." Rory looks a little confused. "If you don't like it..." "I love it. And this was...really thoughtful." She smiles. "Definitely worth the wait."

🤗 - A warm hug

Emmett hangs his coat in the entryway and shakes water from his hair, shivering slightly. The storm kicked up without warning, and he got drenched walking the last mile home from town. Rory appears from the kitchen, a knife held loosely in her hand. To anyone else it would probably look like she'd been interrupted chopping vegetables for dinner, but Emmett knows she was fully prepared to use it on any potential intruder. His fault for not announcing himself, probably. "Hey. I was getting worried when I heard the rain," Rory says. Emmett nods, not really trusting his voice not to shake if he speaks. Rory steps back into the kitchen, but only long enough to lay the knife down on the counter, judging by the sound. She steps back into the hall and reaches for Emmett's arm, hissing slightly when she feels how damp his sleeve is. The warmth of her wrapping her arms around him is unexpected. Emmett still isn't used to people voluntarily touching him. "It's warm in the kitchen," she mumbles into his shirt. today i went to go see transformers one, And. i feel somewhat bad about this because every single one of my transformers friends seemed to love it. however i was not super impressed

which, if you liked it im glad you had fun & feel free to chalk some of my gripes up to me being pretentious about movies. but if you want to know my thoughts in more detail im putting them under a cut because a) spoilers and b) lot of words

so number one, the main thing, is that while it didnt follow the formula Exactly (orion was the one gunning to rebel from the get-go while megatron was initially really wary about stepping out of line) its still one of those "villain revolts against a corrupt system but goes TOO FAR" stories. which, yes thats what megatrons backstory usually is. yes i expected this going in

But did they have to code him as black via voice actor and pit him against a saintly nonviolent counterpart voiced by fucking chris hemsworth .

like this is the third time in the past couple years ive watched a new thing and everyones gushing over it and im like oh cool and i watch it, and the villain is a black coded (nonhuman!!) guy whos Too Mad about systemic injustice and has to be stopped by the noble liberal pacifists. it happened in live action one piece it happened in the tmnt movie and it has happened once again in transformers one!!! and EVERY single time i look through the tags to see if anyones talking about it and guess what. i cannot take even remotely seriously the in universe pearl clutching about megatron killing one (1) super evil guy. in general, sure, but mainly after watching bumblebee literally cut people into little pieces with knives on screen??????!!¿like im sorry but you cant act like megatron would be doing some horrible bad irredeemable thing by assassinating a corrupt head of state and then say okay 🤗 heres my new bffsie the knife murderer. Be real with me right now

aside from this i simply found the script to be extremely repetitive simplistic and marvelbrained. too much cheap shoehorned 2013-youtube-parody-grade humor. to which you the reader might turn to me and say manfred, you sound like a snob and the movie is for kids! the dialogue has to be simple or kids wont know whats going on. And to which i say first of all, it is my god given right to be a snob, and second of all this movie has swears in it such as hell and damn and badass, the latter of which is repeated upwards of thrice in a joke that gets less and less funny every time, and i think that MAYBE any child who is old enough to hear curse words, is old enough to understand SUBTEXT

at least it looked nice, animation was good, set design was crazy good. the little cyber deers with the light up antlers were genius, whoever came up with those was bringing their whole pussy to work. still dont like that they gave the robots human lips. optimus prime i am not going to kiss you put tjose things away

about my friends it’s going nice! we’re kinda doing our own thing since it’s the summer however one of them, m (i think i name drop too comfortably on here), recently started talking (ish) to a guy and she’s kinda obsessed with him. like it’s in a weird way in where she full blown cancelled plans that we made like 5 days prior just bc she had last minute plans with him so 😃😃😃😃 i’m so happy for her!! i have been writing a LOT more recently. like not even just because it’s kpop i don’t know i get the inspiration to write and just open a google docs document. like for instance one of them the plot is mc breaks up with sunghoon and becomes closer to heeseung but plot twist! they’re in a band and there’s DRAMAA 🔥🔥🔥. and then another one is where mc and jake r ENEMIES bc her dog tried impregnating jake’s dog at a dog park 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. one of them is a sunghoon fic that’s heavily inspired by cmbyn (MINUS THE GROOMING) the other is a jay prank call au where he calls her bc he remembers his highschool sweetheart and she doesn’t even spare him a thought 🔥🔥🔥🔥. there’s a single dad sunghoon au somewhere in there. MY GOOGLE DOCS IS COOKING.

My Stray Kids Fanmeet Experience

So i saw skz for the first time in real life the other day (jan 202023 to be exact :p) and i wanna write my whole experience so that i can look back at this in the future cuz my memory is shit 😅

It all started last year 2022 around Nov/Dec when bench announced that they'll have a bench x stray kids fanmeet this Jan 2023 (excite excite) so obv i just HAD to get tickets. ITS STRAY KIDS HELLO?

minor detour for some of that extra context lol:

I got into skz mid to late 2021 and ofc it was felix with his deep ass “cooking like a chef” yt short that sucked me in. From then on i just got hooked into their content and just them in general. Really nice to see a grp thats around my age doing something amazing like what theyre doing now.

Anyway! Back to my fan meet xp

So last yr i saw the announcement and got all majorly excited. At first i was thinking of getting VIP tickets. I was actually willing to spend 8k for a fanmeet and a chance to receive a poster from them. But then i saw the lines in bench and i was like,, hell naw! I aint gonna be putting myself through that. Y’all can wait in line for that imma spend my time elsewhere. So i waited for the promo period to get tickets for lower box instead. This was only 4k with a chance for a bye wave opportunity (no physical up close interaction like shaking hands or anything but at least u get to see them closer up). I was totally fine w this since i spend less and since im not going for what majority (who can afford) want, less ppl to deal with/wait in line for.

Now.. i went through s t r u g g l e just to claim my ticket after buying my stuff from bench. Dont really wanna retype everything since ive already shared w my friends so imma just attach screenshots of my rant

Now, after that whole ordeal, is the new year and i honestly forgot there was a raffle. Also can i just say, thank goodness ate girl (for those that dont know ate is filipino for sister that we use even for non relatives.. kinda like noona/unnie) was kind enough to send me my code that night so i was still able to enter my code for the raffle to win a bye wave opportunity. Cuz if not… i wouldnt have seen skz up close😿

Jan 12 day of the bye wave winners announcement: I checked my email around morning and noon; nothing. So i was like ayt, i didnt win. I’ll still get to see skz tho irl w decent seats.

BUT THEN

when i checked my email again in the evening- actually i didnt purposefully check my mail; i just saw the push notif on my phone. Something like “STRAY KIDS WINNER, congratulations!” and I FREAKED THE FUCK OUT. Like OH MY GOD. OH. MY. GOD!! I WON?!?!??? Suuuper ecstatic. Kept squeeling and shit. I could not even.😶😱🤗😵🥴🫠🤪🤪🤪

After i was able to calm down, I immediately let ate girl know if we could meet up earlier so i can get my receipt back so i can have no trouble on the day of the fanmeet when i claim the raffle. She was nice enough to agree and meet up earlier and it was nice that she seemed happy for my win (she also bought lb tix) kinda regretful i didnt try to be friends w her but im shy so whatever. I just want receipt so i can see the bois😛😁😁😁

Cut to day of fan meet. Wait no- actually.. the week of the fanmeet. The monday of that wk is when i met up w ate gurl to get my receipt. Friday was the fanmeet. In between i was tryna decide my outfit (that i dont have a pic of but whatever. i’ll describe it nalang) which ended up being a kinda loose white tank top with a green plaid long sleeve on top then dark grey/black slim jeans. Add in a couple of accessories ( choker, chains, earrings) and we’re good to go. Oh i also had on my hidden high heel highcut black sneakers (or at least i think theyre sneakers; can never remember fashion shtuff)

In case it wasn’t obvious i was fully planning to go on my own since my friends/cousins said they couldnt (busy or broke) so whatever. BUT THEN my friend, day before the fanmeet- night before actually- was like “ hey! Joke lang im actually going to the meet” so i was like “omg yay!” Not like that exactly but yeah. Same sentiments :p

I asked my friend if we could meet up on fri and she said sure. She’ll just be w her friend who got her the ticket.

Now! We can finally cut to the day of the fanmeet. Claiming for raffle winners are from 10am-2pm then theres an orientation @3pm so i went to moa around 12-1230, got my photo cards (chan, leeknow, & hyunjin) and the wristband showing me as a bye wave winner. Went around moa, had lunch in jollibee, waited around in my car for my friend to arrive around 4, 5pm. Ate again in ikea resto then we finally went to the venue.

While lining up we made friends w another stay who gave out some freebies (ngl i forgot her name🥲) she was sweet. I was kinda stupid and decided to split up from my friend (cuz there 2 lines and the one i went to was shorter but my friend didnt follow so 🙃☹️) so i ended lining up alone when i told her that i wanted to meet up so i wouldnt line up alone lol. Anyway, i got inside moa arena went to my seat in lb 221 and got ready for the fanmeet.

The fanmeet started around 7pm (tho gates opened at 5) it wasnt fully packed inside but there were still a LOT of Stay that attended. Tho i think gen ad was fully packed.

Honestly everything happened so fast that if i didnt take videos and didnt see the vids that others have posted online, i woulda forgotten everything but i know i enjoyed every minute of it😁

So first off skz opened w God’s Menu then the host, Sam Oh (who i know of because she used to be on radio and i loved listening to her shows then), introduced them and on the programme went.

The kids played some jenga w missions, whisper challenge, dance replay challange, domino challange, paint a shirt that was raffled out to the audience) call w a fan(that didnt work out cuz of cell service issues) also i didnt quite get that WE had to call the numbers of the phones in front of the skz members so i didnt really try until it was too late. One fan was able to connect tho but it didnt really work out too well. Im glossing over these and might have mentioned them in the wrong order but thats because there are tons of vids out there about these so i won’t go into detail.

At the end of the fan meet skz performed Case 143 and we moved on to the giving out of signed posters THEN my long anticipated bye wave opportunity. So while the poster receivers were getting ready so were the bye wavers. There was an usher of sorts holding a sign for us to recognize and follow to the exit. The staff told us that no pics/vid was allowed😕 sucks but i was planning to sneak a vid if possible. Others also tried im sure of it. I was 15/200 in line. Unfortunately because i was so close to the front and they were ushering us to the stage pretty fast, i couldnt set up my phone to video on time. No matter tho. There was a barrier that was too high for the phone in my front jean pocket to even capture anything so it wouldve failed anyway.

Going up the stage felt so rushed even tho the videos showed that we werent even walking that fast. But it felt so fast that i couldnt even tell you what order the kids were in when i was waving bye to them. Thank god for other Stays tho so imma put their line up here so i can recall my experience better

Ok so first i saw was IN and i gotta be honest i cant remember the experience 😭😭 id like to say we made brief eye contact but im not sure. I think i saw that he was looking at the ones behind me so i moved my eyes to Seungmin. Again i cant remember anymore so idek what actually happened here

Now Seungmin, bb, i swear we made eye contact and i think i shocked him with my hair cause his eyes widened and mouth opened wider while looking at me aidbsidbdlaj. Context: i have a shaved head. Tho im in the middle of growing it out. My last shave was mid Dec last yr so my hair at this point is about an inch to an inch and a half

Lemme just insert here that i COULD NOT stop smiling

Next was Felix and oh. my. GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!!!! We made the looongest eye contact ever!!! wodbsisbdb SWEAR!! At least 2 seconds! It was glorious~ And his face was just so beautiful and his smile was angelic and he may not be my bias but he lives rent free mehn. Rent. Free. Period.

Ayt so Han. My bb, my bias. I feel so bad cause i think i got so caught up w looking at felix ( making fucken 2 second eye contact) that i think Han saw me not looking at him so he went on to say bye to the ones behind me already😖😣😔😢😭 tho i did try to catch his eyes but no such luck cause i had to keep moving

Moving on, it was Hyunjin. Very brief, my encounter with him. Again i think i spent too long looking at Felix that it just pushed back the rest to skip over me causing me to miss meeting eyes with the rest. But Hyunjin 👌 also he be the tallest of the grp

Same thing with Changbin tho i really did try my best to look at them whenever they were more or less directly in front of me. The size of this man tho! Batak! So buff 💪 i just wanna feel… all of it👀 in a non sexual way ofc😶 unless? 😏 jk (or am i🤔)

Lee Know is so pretty like wtf . But again he was already looking at those behind me😞 and i had to keep the line moving so.. sad=me Lee Know is my bias wrecker pa naman🫤 i really love his relationship w Han whether its just friends or whatever it is I just love seeing the interactions. (Ngl tho,, the fan edits of minsung that i see Stay post? Mmm is something alright)

After all this we were ushered out of the arena and I decided to loiter a bit outside before i went back to my car. Fangirled like crazy. Then promptly went back to the hotel. I fangirled again when i saw my cousins at the hotel roofdeck cuz i couldnt just keep this in mehn i had to let it out and share my joy.

Later in the night i found out that skz stayed a bit longer to jam w the crowd while Doodle was playing. Kinda jealous but i got to see them up close so im content for now.

The upcoming concert in March tho.. i NEED to get sound check and vip tix. I just gotta💪 heres to me, hopin’ i get the tickets i want🤞🤞

Hi, i have been bingeing on all your and i absolutely love reading about the BL world from your perspective, I have learned quite a bit from your posts.

I just want to share some of my thoughts and pick your brain on some things I would like to understand.

Started watching BLs about a year ago and I mostly stuck to the few korean BLs that were available and also some stuff from Taiwan and the Chinese bromances. I know Thailand dominates the BL industry but when I first started watching i kinda avoided because (a) their language kind of throws me off, I don't know if this is offensive but it is something i struggled with during the first few shows and even now that I am used to it I still need time to adjust every time I start a new video. Thai is very different from korean, japanese, and chinese which I am very comfortable with.

The second reason I hesitated (this part is where the actual ask is) was their acting style. Now, I am not a professional who can give any criticism on these stuff, my opinions are based on personal taste and observations.

My main ask is that do you think acting styles change based on culture, like a lot of thai BLs tend to favor the slapstick comedy. Because of that their reactions and emotions tend to be exaggerated (I don't mean this in a negative way, just the only description I could think of.) I have seen a lot of subtle and great acting and emoting from them but kind of big way of showing emotions tend to remain.

I don't know if that made any sense, my thoughts are not translating well at all. Any way i hope you get what I am trying to get at.

I’m not going to turn this into a proper blog post just going to ramble. 

I do go into language barriers in the BL producing countries a little here. BL Breakdowns by Country 

Struggling with Thai Language 

I actually really do understand this. It will depend on your native language, but it will certainly influence your enjoyment. I recommend studying the language a little and learning about it from a kind of cultural mathematical perspective, it makes it a lot more fun and interesting (and you’ll get the humor). 

Here’s my linguistic starter post on Thai for BL watchers. 

It always helps me become sympathetic when I become intellectually curious about soemthing, anyway. 

So my brain is mostly southern British English trained (not so flat as American) plus a little Spanish. But I hear Thai as very tonal and occasionally quite high and screechy and full of ticks (repeated words) because of the polite particles. It took me about a year of continued exposure to just not hear all that anymore, partly because I was training my brain to translate and understand it. 

Here’s my brain’s emotional relationships... 

I really struggle with Mandarin, it all sounds very much the same to me, the words seem to run together. This is how I feel about French too. 

On the flip side I find Korean extremely enjoyable and sexy, I don’t understand most of it, but I like listening to it a lot. This is also how I feel about Italian. 

Both German and Russian always sound angry to me. 

Most of the Scandinavian languages seem just comfortable and fun and friendly (and sometimes a little silly). (I grew up around a couple of these, in part.) 

Japanese when spoken by men just seems preternaturally low in the chest, and when spoken by women too cute and girly. But then sometimes I just kinda like the way it rolls off the tongue, and a lot of the repeated sayings and politeness just sound adorable to me. 

Vietnamese sounds very sad to me, almsot like a dirge. 

When I turn off the part of my brain, or try to, or have been living in a place where I’ve stopped hearing English on a daily basis, I think English is (most of the time) a very ugly language: chaotic and non-formulaic, sometimes a little brutal sounding. But I love its flexibility and breath of vocabulary and nuance, especially for writing. (Obvs) 

All of this is because of the culture and language of my various upbringings, also music tonality. What makes your trained happy music or sad music influences what we hear as happy, sad, aggravating, calming. How we express questioning, excitement, enthusiasm. Spacers and filler words (like um) and breath pauses. Body language (how close we stand when talking to each other). Facial expressions. All of this is going to impact your immersion in a different society’s pup culture and performance style from a linguistic perspective. 

So I guess what I am say is, it is possible to get over, if you sort of flex your brain a bit in a new way. 

Thai Acting Style 

So (now) Korea film style is the most western influenced of the ones you talked about, with Taiwan and the Philippines following up. China is a little more reserved in many ways, and very married to 4 act structure, which can make it feel over long and narratively off-beat to a western audience. I’m not sure where your film consumption background is coming from, but if you like the Wuxia bromances (like Untamed etc) but can also take the Korean short form BLs, my guess would be you’re coming out of sf/f fandom of some kind with a tolerance for epics but also shorts. 

You don’t talk about Japanese cinema, which is an interesting case (and most geeks having passing familairty with). It is the one that bridges the gap between the pretty atmospheric stuff, dark themes, but also some serious slap stick and pantomime action, which I suspect is what is turning you off of Thai BL. You might explore some of their stuff.

And here is something all about their (and BLs) darker traditions 

You could try something like Cherry Magic, which combines softness and sweetness with slapstick, but isn’t quite as in your face a soem of the others. If that’s too much, try Restart After Come Back Home, His the movie, Life: Love on the Line, Old Fashion Cupcake, and Seven Days. All of these avoid the panto style over-acting and sound effects that are the biggest turn offs for most western audiences

So for both Japan and Thailand the love of pratfall, or physical comedy humor comes from their local historical theatrical traditions and variety shows. This can be seen by those of use who did not grow up with is as: childish, scenery chewing, or over-acting. 

The addiction to carton sound effects, triple shots (where they repeat the same action from multiple angles, especially around intimacy) mostly comes from anime/cartoons which were tailored to the adult market for much longer historically in most of Asia. (If you think about the British pantomime tradition you will realize that many European countries do have this style of acting, it’s just been confined to the children’s sphere). Although there’s also American soap operas and movie comedies (like Bridesmaids, for example) or Spanish telenovelas that are very scenery chewing. 

What you’re probubly responding negatively to is in part a slight feel of being talked down too, or catered to, or spoon fed (emotions, acting, expression, sound) as if you were a child. I still feel this sometimes. Equally, I get annoyed by the sexual restraint that then is coupled to this style, in Japan in particular, which also makes the romance feel downplayed. But that’s my upbringing rearing its head. And, like any other cultural tradition, you will either grow used to it after continued exposure, or just never learn to enjoy the taste. There are some flavors that are harder than others to adapt too if you don’t grow up with them, whether food, language, performance, or music. 

That said, there are some Thai BLs that are a lot more gritty and serious, with more subtle and nuanced acting, especially now. Here’s some I think you might particularly be able to tolerate:

Diaper training UPDATE!! June 2022

First off, happy PRIDE month!

General:

So it was a odd month. I was really surprised how far backwards I had gone. Since I took a little over a month off. I feel like it took a couple weeks to get back into my routine. But, I feel like I'm back to where I was. I feel like the cage catheter really helped. I longest I kept it in was 4 days straight. Its not something you can really do physical stuff with. But this last holiday weekend was nice! 😏 It was really weird, I was sitting there and all the sudden I felt something tickle my butt, so I jumped up and realized I was just peeing 😅. It really just made me feel numb to what was happening. The first few times I put it on I could tell everytime I peed. But I ended up using a 8 1/2" long tube. No real pain just sore when id do anything similar to a sit up. (Like bending down to tie my shoe.) So it does limit you in some ways. Other than that I'm really happy with it. I will definitely use it off and on.

Bed-wetting:

I really haven't been keeping track like I was and that something I regret for this month 😪 but! I feel like I'm right back on track. This morning I woked up wet! Without the C.C. (cage catheter) I do remember waking up but I can't remember peeing. Wearing the C.C. to bed was fun cause I would always was up wet. Like a good boy! 😇 But other than last night I was waking and wetting at night or not wetting until I woked up.

Social:

I think I've hit a point where diapers have become normal to me. Like I do everything in them. At this point eff it. If anyone asks ill tell them to keep there mouth zipped but yeah im wearing a diaper. I'm going though some stuff right now and I have to wear them. Lol 😆 I'm acting super tough rn. I said that to one friend. And it went alright, they tried to pry more out of me, but I just told them its embarrassing, I'm not going to die and I didn't want to talk about it. So after awhile it should just become understood that I wear them. Right?🤔 I'll eventually have to say something but that will be alot easier down the road especially if he knows I've been wearing for awhile.

hiiii i havent been on here in a while but i remember u put me on the rom&nd lip tints like 2 years ago and theyre still like my favorite lip stains ever i need an updated beauty recs from u anything and everything pls and thank u 🤗

omg i literally remember that its been so long LOL im literally so happy that you liked them though!!! and i get really rambly when i rec stuff so be prepared 🙈as for recs as far as kbeauty stuff goes romand lip products remain the best they are so good all across the board although their juicy lasting tints are my favs especially the shade nucadamia. i also have a couple of eye palettes from them and they are sooo nice for a wash of color and i want the glitter palette as well it looks so gorgeous. and then for other kbeauty stuff the missha glitter prism eye shadows (liquid or the single pressed ones) are soooo gorgeous the pressed ones especially are duochromes that look super wet and sparkly on the eye theyre so pretty and unique and AFFORDABLE! korean products are the way to go if you want sparkly iridescent glittery eye products literally so gorgeous

and then my fav lip products other than those recently have been tinted balms just with any random neutral/nude lipliner because ive been keeping it kind simple and natural. and far and away the best lip balms i have tried on the market right now (my opinion) are the dior lip glow balms. dior in general has the best lip products i have ever tried but the balms especially are out of this world i especially love the shade coral with a good lipliner. it makes your lips look so much bigger and it STAINS soooo much you can eat anything like a whole meal and you can still see it on your lips. i have 4 shades and as insanely expensive as they are i think personally theyre so worth it. because they are the best best best formula available atm. i also love the milani matte bullet lipsticks they are so insanely good and nearly exact dupes for charlotte tilbury and also milani blushes are soooooooooo good. ok i could go on and i will if you want me to but im gonna stop myself for now. thank you for the ask though i cant believe you remember me recommending those from so long ago lol thats so cool honestly!!

This will be a long answer, so please hang in there! There’s a lot to digest and process here (it took me a while to think through all of it, which I love) and to get the full scope of what’s going on fandom wise right now, we need to go through both sides of the coin.

I’m of the stripe that the fandom will remain split until something meaningful happens. It’s been like that since Ashley’s first appearance in 4x06 and stuff really hit the fan. Or, that’s when I noticed things were split. Like always, I can see both sides of the coin here. First, for me, I don’t classify Chenford as a slow burn quite yet. I feel like it’s still very much a will they/won’t they ship. Chenford borrows a TON from the will they/won’t they category. They’re also a very different ship than the others I’ve shipped before with a completely different set of obstacles. With that, let’s get into the processing of what is occurring right now.

Let’s start with the flip side of the coin, the perspective of Chenford having no progress after 4x12:

This season, Chenford hasn’t really moved forward, they also haven’t really moved backwards either. They’ve been stagnant. Yes, we’ve seen some moments a la 4x01 and 4x09 to name a couple. But, we’ve mainly only seen Chenford through the friendship and partnership lens. Some may think that that’s on purpose and the writers don’t want to do Chenford least of all Alexi. The double date was indeed all Chenford! I think that’s a fact both sides of the fandom can agree on. But, friends do go out to dinner. Friends also double date. There was a lot of banter, some teasing and just overall things you’d do with a friend. They were flirty, but friends can flirt with friends too. They could have done a lot more with this double date. They could have had Chenford even more enamored with one another. They could have had Ashley leave the restaurant entirely. They could have had TimAshley break up and have her call out Tim on his feelings for Lucy (I think a lot of people wanted this, myself included). They could have had ChrisLucy not go on a do over date. Chenford when looked at in the scope of the full season up to now, has been stagnant for the most part on its face. That’s where some issues are coming from. Plus, the reluctance of the writers to spell anything out and leaving us to fill in the blanks. There’s been no direction of HOW to take the Chenford interactions since it’s been written vaguely on purpose. As such, there’s dissonance in the fandom, which is what you’re seeing now and why the question of what Chenford is still remains. There’s also the issue of the possibility the show will run out of road before Chenford gets together.

Going to the perspective that Chenford has had progress side of the coin after 4x12:

This is where I’m at right now. I haven’t lost my patience with Chenford yet! If we look at the full scope from S1 to now, Chenford has come a very long way with a lot of progress along the way! We went from Rookie/TO, to friends, to possible romantic interest all in the span of 18-24 months. 1x01-3x09 was 13 months since that’s how long the FTO program is. So, logically thinking, all of this has happened in under or at 2 years. That’s pretty quick! 3x09 was essentially a new starting point without the TO/Rookie thing hanging over their heads.

Like the other side of the coin, the double date was all Chenford here. But, they did this for a reason in my opinion. A double date is insanely tropey. They had Tim essentially grill Lucy after Chris left after they discussed True Crime shows. We saw a smidge of jealousy with the whole “you hated this guy last week and now you’re all sweet on him?” Tim only agreed to go to the dinner to begin with because Lucy called him a control freak, not because Ashley asked him! They had Tim invite Lucy for a reason and ignore Ashley’s want to invite her friend Byron and his girlfriend as the replacement couple. Lucy wasn’t even pining to go to Osia all day! We didn’t hear her mention it once. Tim went to the trouble of scrounging up a date for Lucy when he didn’t have to! An argument could be made for that he asked the first person he saw, but I view it as that he knew Lucy was sweet on Chris and asked him for her since he happened to be in the right place at the right time. Tim was trying to make Lucy happy. He didn’t have to. That says a ton right there that he wanted to make her happy. Not Ashley, Lucy.

The way the date went was interesting. You had Tim drawing Lucy’s attention away from Chris. Whether that was on purpose since he was uncomfortable at a fancy restaurant that clearly wasn’t his scene, or something else. Chenford’s body language was very in tune to one another. Facing each other on purpose is very coupley. Then we had Lucy taking the mushroom pancake off Tim’s plate. Friends do take food off each other’s plates, but they ask first! Lucy didn’t even ask and Tim let her do it. That’s a girlfriend move right there. They were so wrapped up in each other with the goat story, the scattering of Tim’s ashes over Dodger Field and themselves that they didn’t even really pay attention to Ashley or Chris! Chris even mentioned he was a Dodgers fan and Tim didn’t even notice. Tim is a massive Dodgers fan, so that was a subject they had in common and one they could have talked about. They didn’t! That says a lot. It also says a lot that it was filmed and positioned like Chenford was on a date with each other. Then we had Tim accidentally insult Ashley over the dessert and she excused herself. Neither Tim nor Lucy is socially incompetent. Yet, they behaved what was essentially socially incompetent in the presence of two other people. The only thing that mattered was each other. That was done for a reason. I think the further we get into this season, the more this will unravel. They’re laying the groundwork for something.

The ending scenes serve a purpose too, Tim was desperate in trying to get Ashley to give him another chance because he is so deep into trying to ignore whatever he feels for Lucy. The “she’s not my partner, I’m just her sergeant” was a flat out denial. He even said it didn’t matter in what they were talking about! Ashley meanwhile, I think knows it’s doomed, but she really likes Tim, so she’s staying for a bit. Likewise, Chris was waiting for Lucy. Lucy explained what her bond was with Tim, the whole “we have a shorthand”. That signifies to me that Lucy hasn’t fully realized what she feels for Tim yet. I will say that Chris was definitely more understanding than Ashley about the dinner.

Wrap Up:

Until the writers explicitly define what Chenford is and stop having us fill in the blanks (they filled in a ton in 4x12), this will be a split fandom in my opinion. Same thing with the progress, this will be a split fandom until something meaningful happens and the LIs are gone. I think everyone can agree that they’re starting to get to the end of their rope a bit. I think everyone can also agree the writers need to step it up in some aspect. We’ll see what the rest of the season brings. I think they’re laying brickwork right now to get us to that final destination. The LIs are just a step along the way.

the cards are kinda interesting in ur pile! you might feel like there's been something you've been trying to move on or move away from, it could be stage in your life or maybe there's a relationship that you no longer feel connected to. something in your life feels stale and like its not serving you anymore. this metaphorical stale air is beginning to give you a headache, tbh! what your soul desires most right now is fresh air- you want new experiences - ones that are more fulfilling. a strong message is how important it is for you to keep your standards- dont settle for less because you want stability. it wont be fulfilling in the end.

I really do feel stuck and want this phase to get over sooner but I’m really afraid that things are only getting worse and that it won’t ever get better. Yeah this state is certainly giving me headache. I don’t know if you meant it literally or not but I get headaches on almost everyday. I’m having a headache even while typing this. It’s certainly true that I want stability, the good kind of stability where I don’t have to constantly worry about anything and everything. I really hope that that stability comes soon cause now it’s getting very difficult to keep up and I’m afraid that I’m losing myself no I feel low these days and get tired and exhausted pretty easily. I really wanna enjoy, and feel free without having to constantly worry.

this could be a hit or a miss, but i got the message about if you are in a relationship right now, feeling really detached or not intimate with your partner? i got this mental image of a couple in bed, lying down and facing opposite directions. i felt a pang in my heart from how disconnected this felt. ofc, this doesn't have to be relationship related, this could just show how you feel in regards to the life you are living right now.

I’ve been getting this relationship thing in each and every guidance messages and energy readings now. Every reader had been telling me that I must been feeling detached in a relationship. I wonder if this extends to platonic or non-romantic relationships as well because I do feel disconnected from people in general and don’t wanna deal with them. Also, I’ve never been in a romantic relationship ever. Neither do I intend to be in one right now. I wish I could take a break.

what can you do to feel that sense of life and vitality again? what risks can you take? i feel like you haven't been taking risks and you've been settling for less but spirit is telling me that you should take those risks, chase what you know you want. this is a wake up call. do it.

I’ll try doing this cause I do feel like the need to take action. Also, nothing's gonna change if I don't up the game. Thank you for the guidance messages.
