in general i kind of wish people who make posts like that on here in the vein of asexual positivity would kind of like check what theyre posting somewhat so that they dont say stuff that honest to god feels kind of homophobic. like ive just been coming across shit every so often for years now where it either sounds just honestly homophobic (usually sex repulsion that gets weirdly pointed at gay people for having the audacity to talk about sex) or its like implying- like the prev post- that gay people have some kind of privilege for their willingness to have sex as if that hasnt been like the pinnacle of homophobia is disgust at that and even as things progress people still want gay ppl to 'keep it in the bedroom' and literally would prefer to view the gay people around them AS asexual so they dont have to think about their sex life. cause they think its gross. i understand why you would want to find community in your identity and generally when i come across positivity posts or whatever its like fine but no one ever seems to correct the people that wind up saying things that range from ignorant to regressive and i wish they would

Day drinking, so take this with a grain of salt. But. I think the reason I really do not care for obikin is because. If obikin happened, OT star wars just wouldn't exist. The twins wouldn't have happened. I understand that people can have two hands but I think in this specific instance if obikin had been A Thing it would have made Star Wars -- especially the prequels -- worse to me. I like that the prequels are a tragedy! I don't care about fix its!! It's fixed when Vader redeems himself just enough to save Luke at the end of ROTJ. I think Anakin's rship with Obi-Wan is compelling as it is, it's still absolutely toxic obsession and codependency, but Anakin's insistence on trying to keep up with all his relationships -- his adoptive family who he has a fraught rship with (the Jedi, personified by Obi-Wan and to a lesser extent, Ahsoka), his blood family he was taken away from (personified by Shmi), and the family he chooses who he thinks accepts him unconditionally (personified by Padmé) -- despite them actively competing with each other for his attention is supremely compelling. He doesn't choose Obi-Wan. He cares for him anyway. Until he perceives Obi-Wan getting in between him and his greatest desire (a life in a safe and secure galaxy with Padmé and their children), and then all bets are off.

And then ofc Obi-Wan ends up being all he has after things break bad, and Anakin has nothing to do but fixate on him once he realizes Obi-Wan is alive, but it's in a supremely bitter divorce way LMFAO. But Anakin never chose Obi-Wan. He never chose to be his apprentice -- it was Qui-Gon he left Tatooine to train under. They're toxically obsessed with each other, yes, but I think it's that active rejection on Anakin's part that makes their fucked up dynamic so delicious as it is to me. Like I totally get the concept of Obikin and why it's appealing! But to me, that ship -- especially the fluffy happy ending versions of it -- undermines everything I like about their relationship as it's presented in canon, and almost cheapens what Anakin had with Padmé that led to the birth of the twins and the events of the OT. If Anakin knew Obi-Wan was cool with extracurricular fucking, he wouldn't have been so convinced that his love for Padmé was such a shameful secret to the point where he was so thoroughly manipulated by Palpatine. (And maybe I'm making up a strawman here, but if people think Anakin pursued Padmé as some sort of consolation because he could never have a chance with Obi-Wan, kindly fuck you.) Like ship what you wanna ship of course!! And I can be chill with some VaderWan hatefucking. But hm. It's just not for me. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
