“Daaa-ddy.”
Levi startles, looking up. The little girl stood before him, all wide eyes and beaming at him.
“Yes? Shouldn’t you be at school?”
She shrugs, then thrusts out a hair brush and a set of scrunchies. “Do my hair today!” She grins.
Levi is taken aback slightly, not at all expecting such a request. It’s not that he had a bad relationship with his daughter really, if anything Levi spends every second that he can spare with her. But even so, it was so sudden and specific, not to mention she has never asked him to do it before. It was you who helped her get ready.
“Doesn’t mommy usually do that?” He asks slowly. “Is she busy?”
She shakes her head quickly. “I just want you to do it today.” She smiles, holding the brush out to him, waiting for him to take it.
Levi glances at it then looks back up. How could he say no to that?
So, without a word, he motions her to turn around which she follows happily, pulling a stool nearby to sit between Levi’s legs. Levi takes the brush, though slightly hard to hold without his missing fingers, he manages, combing through the black silky strands.
Like his.
Though, his own hair was stranded with gray now, a sign of the long years he had lived. Even Ackermans don’t stay young forever.
But it’s still so strange to him, having her here, right in front of him. He still freezes a little when she smiles at him, watching her with awe. She looked almost exactly identical to him, starting from the shape of her face to the color of her eyes, just the exact shade of the silvery blue that his own eyes hold. But there was a brightness in those eyes that Levi doesn't think he ever had. She was like this little ball of sunshine, always so bright.
And her smile, that came from you.
She was his. Yours. Theirs.
A part of him and a part of you. A whole other human being. A child. A blessing.
It was the hardest at thr beginning. For him to get used to it. Despite the 9 months of pregnancy, it was when he first held her that the realization finally hit him. That she was his daughter. His.
And the moment his eyes locked with the newborn, he knew he was doomed.
That there was nothing he wouldn’t do for this small, small, absolutely tiny person that came to earth no more than half an hour ago. That he had just met.
It was crazy how it only took him only a moment for him to swear his life for her, to become so protective. It was actually ridiculous, how he felt anxious even when it was the nurses holding her, he’d been so rigid, so poised. Even when handing her over to someone else’s arms, he had his hand outstretched because just in case. It took a shit load of convincing from you for him to let Jean and Connie hold her.
It was crazier watching her grow up. Never had he felt this ridiculous amount of pure joy and excitement ever. Only to hear her first words, to watch her take her first steps, holding his hand. He swears it was only yesterday.
His chain of thought was cut off as she started to happily chatter about things. Unlike Levi, she talks. A lot. Levi doesn’t mind, he listens quietly. Every once in a while, inserting a comment.
“I’ve read about you. In the history books. Our teacher taught us.”
“Yeah?” He mumbles, brushing softly. “What’d you learn?”
“They called you humanity’s strongest.” She stumbles on the word a little, which was a bit heavy for her usual vocabulary. She turns around to look at him with awe and wonder, wide eyes asking for confirmation. “That’s so cool!”
He only lets out a small hum in response.
"Will I be as strong as you one day?"
"Sure. You already are." He hopes she never needs to be.
“I saw your picture too. And mommy’s. Also, Uncle Connie used to be bald back then.” She finishes with a giggle, the idea of Connie’s lack of hair amusing her. “You were like a superhero, weren’t you daddy?”
“I wouldn’t shoot that far.” He answers with a small smile.
Back then, Levi had never imagined the idea of having a family. There, caged between the walls, surrounded by those tremendous monsters. When there was no guarantee that you’d come back alive once you’re out there. How could he even think of bringing a child to the world, if he couldn’t even do the least that is to promise their safety?
But now, here she runs and plays outside, without a worry in the world, tirelessly. She doesn’t have to starve like Levi had to, she grows up with only all the good the world has to offer. She doesn’t know the worst of how things could be and Levi hopes she never does. She doesn’t yet understand the role Levi and you had played in creating this world, but she does understand the value of it. She asks questions sometimes, about the wheelchair and the eye and the hand. About your scars and why somedays you can't get yourself from bed. He doesn’t answer. He doesn’t know how to answer. And Levi knows, one day, he’ll have to tell her all of it, life back then and the life he had. But for now, he prays, let her grow up with only love and pureness. Let her see the world in her rose colored glasses. Something he never got to do.
She taps Levi’s leg as he bunches the hair to tie a ponytail. “Do braids.” She says.
“Braids? Don’t you always wear a ponytail?” Levi asks.
“Yes, but,” She tries to explain, stumbling for words. “Tash always pulls by it.”
Tash was one of her classmates, Levi knew from her frustrated rants about him. From what he could gather, neither liked each other much. “Next time he bothers you, you do the thing that I taught you.” He tells her.
“The thing with my hands?” She asked brightly, balling her hands to show him.
“Hey, no beating up kids at school. Levi!” You appear in the doorway, only catching the last bit of the conversation. “Don’t give her ideas. And you,” You look at your daughter who was smiling smugly. “I’ve been looking for you–wait, is Levi doing your hair?” You say, finally noticing and very surprised.
‘Yes!” She replies excitedly, “He’s doing braids! He’s very slow though.”
Levi playfully pats her head. “It’s because you keep moving.” He sighs. “Must you need braids? I’m not sure if I can–”
“Yes.”
Levi was about to say something else until she turned around, giving him the most adorable pout ever, eyes all round and needy, her brows pinched together. “Please?” She asks sweetly.
Well damn.
Levi tries, he really tries. But the word no somehow managed to disappear from his vocabulary, along with all of its synonyms. So he sighs, nodding.
“Levi, I can–” You start.
“It’s okay.” He puts up a hand, stopping you. He doesn’t know much about the process, but he’s spent enough time watching you do her hair. So he thinks he can manage it. “I can do it. Probably.” He says uncertainty.
It was slightly difficult to manage multiple sections of hair when you’re missing two fingers, but even surprising himself, he does manage it, after a few attempts. A little uneven, but works.
"Happy?" He asks her, patting her head.
It was good enough for the girl, who jumped up right after it was finished and cheered happily as an answer to Levi. She jumps to his arms, pulling him by the neck to plant a big smooch in his cheek.
“You're the best.” She beams at him, then running off to grab her bag which was by the door.
“Wow, mommy’s nonexistent now?” You fold your arms in mock offense.
She doesn’t answer, only picks up her bag and runs to hug you full speed, wrapping herself around your knees. “I love you.” She calls out, then turns to Levi. “And I love you too! I'm leaving now!”
Then she was out the door before you could say I love you back.
“Don’t run, you’ll fall.” Levi calls out to her, who was already far out of hearing range.
You closed the door. Then leaned against it, staring at Levi.
Levi looked away, cheeks heating up slightly, noticing the strange way you were staring at him, already knowing what comes after.
“So.” You said.
“So, what?” He said, glancing at you.
“Where'd you learn how to do braids?"
He huffs. "From you. I watched you do it.''
"Really?' It was so cute you could melt.
“Stop looking at me like that.” He grunts. “She’s my girl. I can do her hair sometimes, it’s not that big of a deal.”
“So, I’m not your girl?” You pout, exactly the same expression your daughter made just moments ago. “How come I don't I get braids?”
“I–” Levi starts, then huffing frustratedly. He can’t even say no to his daughter, who was he to say no to the mother? He tries nevertheless.
“I’m not doing it. Stop looking at me like that.”
You did not look away, pouting out your lips more.
“I won’t.”
You blinked, turning your expression sadder.
Levi gives up.
“C’mere.” He sighs.

I have an idea but it's a bit iffy for some so it's totally alright if you don't want to write it! Headcanons about being Sevika's controversially young gf? So basically an age gap but all legal. Again, totally ok if it's not your cup of tea!
totally my cup of tea considering i, too, would be a controversially young gf if i ever managed to pull sevika
men and minors dni
i mean, she's not that old. i think in act one she's in her early thirties, in act two and three she's in her early fourties?
in canon i don't think she or many other people would give a shit. at least in zaun.
i think the attitude is more like 'if u can find love, hold tf onto it,' even if just for basic survival reasons.
if you guys ever went up to piltover, you might get a few strange looks. but in the undercity? everyone's cool with it. they're more focused on the war to give a shit about two consenting adults' relationship.
plus, sevika's not the type to let people talk shit about her girl. i doubt anyone would have the balls to say anything to her about your age gap.
ALSO? i don't think sevika dates someone unless she's absolutely enamored with them and can't go on without them. so it's not like she's just dating a younger girl to date a younger girl. she's dating you cuz you're you.
the chemistry you guys have, the way you make her laugh, the easy camaraderie you share-- that's why she's with you.
i could definitely see her being more sensitive about it in a modern setting tho.
she absolutely adores you, and worries that she's holding you back. she doesn't get what someone as young as you would see in someone like her, she thinks she's too boring for you. and she sees the looks you guys get in public.
the longer you're together, the less she worries about it, the more confident she is in the fact that you guys are a perfect match for each other, if a little unconventional.
your friends and family all agree. you're like a match made in heaven.
sometimes she gets really worried about it though. you woke up one night to sevika staring down at you like she'd been studying you all night.
"you don't think i'm too old for you?" she asks immediately. you blink up at her, still groggy from sleep.
"no, babe, you're a milf." you mumble, rubbing your eyes. she blinks.
"what's a milv?"
"a milf. m-i-l-f. mom i'd like to fuck." you explain.
"...i'm not a mom." she says after a minute.
you chuckle, staring up at her. "no, but you are a mommy."
she groans at your joke, throwing an arm around you and settling in to sleep.
after that, 'milf' is a regular part of her vocabulary. her instagram bio is just your anniversary, followed by, 'sevika. gym rat. reader. milf.'
there's parts of your age gap that she finds really entertaining.
you get to introduce her to all kinds of media from your generation that she'd never heard of.
we (by 'we' i mean people 18-25ish) grew up with so much good young adult media! like imagine getting sevika to read the hunger games for the first time. she'd eat that shit up.
she'd love the 2010's cartoons you show her too, especially the dumb ass lighthearted ones-- regular show, bob's burgers, that kinda thing.
she has no patience for technology, so it's a relief that any time she has an issue with a device she can just pass it off to you to figure it out. because if it was up to her? she'd smash the thing and call it a day.
when you're together long enough, you guys can even joke about it with each other. she'll teasingly call you a gold digger, and in return, you'll call her a perv.
some people might not understand it, but that doesn't matter, because to you and sevika? your relationship is the only thing in the world that makes sense.
#sevika#sevika arcane#sevika imagine#sevika x reader#sevika x you#tysm for the request!!! i hope i lived up to your expectations :)

hi dana, i hope you are well today <3 trouville is such a great fic! you are an immaculate writer so i only assume you have immaculate taste. do you have any ot7 fic recs?
p.s. i’m sorry if you have already been asked this 🙈
Hiya honey, I hope you're doing well too! Thank you so much for your sweet words about Trouvaille and my writing, you're so kind, and thank you for reading as well!! 💜🥰
I have MANY fics I've been dying to recommend on this blog, some of my favorites, and I hope you don't mind if I use this ask as a fic rec post!! As a warning, most of these will be 18+, so please read the warnings on the original post of each fic before interacting.
OT7:
So I haven't read many OT7 fics over the years (strangely enough) but I have three I've read recently I'd like to recommend!
Abundance - by @angelicyoongie This is also an OT7 hybrid fic that I've enjoyed, I particularly like the way the author has written the MC and the way they have divided the hybrids into certain "packs". A sweet (and spicy) read!
Lovesick - by @angelicyoongie Another one by angelicyoongie, this is a yandere fic, so if you like darker subject matter and characters, you'll LOVE this story! I'm totally hooked on this one, I think it is very well done and has a carefully (and intricately) crafted plot!
Everything Falls (Into Place) - by @blog-name-idk I read this fic literally in one sitting. The whole day passed me by and I had the best time. It's an OT7 x reader roommate au! Love the characterization of each of the boys, their relationships with each other, and I must mention the "extra" story the author has written for Seokjin is one of my favorite Seokjin fics I've read in a while (I love how this author in particular writes Seokjin)
Multi-Member:
Florescence - by @jincherie Ongoing; Taejin x reader, jincherie has been one of my favorite authors on Tumblr for years. There will be many fics of their's I'll list on this post, but jincherie has written some of my favorite hybrid!au fics! This one is especially sweet, I really love the way the author has a realistic slow development of trust between the MC and Taejin.
Namjoon:
Partners - by @btssmutgalore Nerdy, shy Namjoon x extroverted, party girl reader in this ongoing fic; I loveeee this series so much and have been following along for a long time! I really like the way this author has tackled some complicated conversations between characters, and has worked hard to not gloss over conflict or confrontation, and just the general realism of this story. So good!
To Tame A Fox - by @jamaisjoons Veryyyy kinky, tattooed and pierced dom Namjoon in this fic. I believe this is a college/slice of life oneshot! Super steamy and this author I would say has a way with their beautiful, extensive vocabulary. This is another author worth going through their entire masterlist, particularly if you like fics that read like intricate novels!
Oh, honey! - by @yoongiofmine Sugar daddy Namjoon (and a little Hoseok in there too) This is another fic series I read in one sitting! A really fresh and unique take on a sugar daddy fic, Namjoon is a sweetheart and heartbreakingly sexy in this. Author finds perfect balance between budding romance and steamier scenes that will have you melting into a puddle!
The Bodyguard - by @rmnamjoons Bodyguard Namjoon and ambassador reader; there are many words to describe this piece, but the one I can think best to sum it up is EPIC. Like, truly a masterpiece and absolutely beautiful. I adore Namjoon's characterization in this fic, he is adoring and swoonworthy. I beg you, read this fic- the author put so many gorgeous details into this piece and it is amongst my favorite fics I've ever read.
Seokjin:
Silly Kitty - by @jincherie Hybrid!Seokjin x reader! A fluffy one-shot that will totally lodge its way into your heart. I must have read this fic a dozen times over the years, the author is just truly one of my favorites. I adore her friendship with Jeongguk in this fic, as well, and the humor is spot on! jincherie's hybrid universe is amongst my favorites created.
A Lullaby on Canvas - by @jincherie Siren!Seokjin x reader, smut! Another by jincherie, I love this Seokjin. He's spellbinding and adorable, and the smut is *fans self* wow... jincherie has the unique ability to weave fantasy concepts into "slice of life" seamlessly. I cannot recommend their stories enough.
Pride and Fidget Spinners - by @kpopfanfictrash Slice of life, Seokjin and reader work in a mall, enemies to lovers! This fic would definitely make my top five in BTS fics. Shanna does really amazing work, and her writing is gorgeous and alway a blast to read. This fic has it all; its hilarious, romantic, high-energy, and the characters are vibrant and full of life. Going through Shanna's masterlist is another wonderful idea; not only are her BTS fics fantastic, but she writes amazing stories for EXO and Got7 as well that I love, too!
Platonic - by @joheunsaram College au, friends to lovers, brat tamer Seokjin, bratty reader; this series is sooo addicting! The reader and Seokjin can be a little clueless about their feelings for one another in this series (which is endearing!), and I absolutely adore their ride-or-die dynamic. Steamyyy smut and I love this version of dom!Seokjin; the whole series is written so well. An immediate favorite.
01_ The Gamer's Rules - by @orangie-drabbles Smut, part of a collab! I cannot even describe how awesome this fic is. Characterization of Seokjin is absolutely spot-on. I love the sort of subtle soulmate vibes in this story, the smut is super hot, and the plot was exciting, fresh, and completely unique and interesting. The author is very good at describing vibrant imagery. Love it!
Birthright - by @jimilter Vampire Seokjin!!!! That should honestly be all you need to read this fic. Seokjin is breathtakingly enchanting in this, and I love the lore and the effort that went into world building that author put into this fic. Romantic, sexy, gothic, and perfect.
The Light of Dead Stars - by @ahundredtimesover Arranged marriage AU! BEAUTIFULLY DONE FIC. I mean seriously, it reads like a novel! The author does a really nice job of letting relationships blossom slowly and organically in this fic, and puts a unique spin on the arranged marriage au. So many beautiful details, excellent story telling, and just pure joy to read.
Hoseok:
Transference - by @dark-muse-iris therapist!Hoseok x reader, shibari; series. THIS IS MY FAVORITE BTS FIC EVER WRITTEN. I could scream it from the rooftops; I mean I wish I knew how to bind books because I'd bind this one in velvet. I love it so much, and have read it countless times over the years. This is my absolute FAVORITE characterization of Hoseok I have ever read, and I tell every one I know who is into BTS to read it. Super well done, thoroughly researched and incredibly informative, it's just pure perfection. Absolute fave.
Heartbeat - by @joonbird gang!au, ongoing series! This is an instant classic, joonbird always writes really exciting fics with intricate and immersive plots. Hoseok is bad-boy sexy in this, and the author writes really gorgeous angst, realistic dialogue, and knows how to navigate tricky confrontational situations. The smut is super hot, and Hoseok is devastatingly charming- this series is not for the weak!
Yoongi:
Eargasm - by @lavishedinjimin phone sex operator Yoongi x reader, smut (also, read part two to this fic if you enjoy, it's also whew!) Just so. Wow... Definitely steamy! Very clever on the author's part to choose Yoongi for this fic, with his gravelly, sexy voice. A unique plot, and very enjoyable will they/won't they moments.
Three Tangerines - by @kithtaehyung brother's best friend!au. 3tan is an instant classic! Love the version of Yoongi this author has written, he's both edgy and sexy, as well as introspective and soulful simultaneously. This is an ongoing series, and the slow development of complex emotions reads both realistic and perfectly natural. Yoongi is sexy as hell, and the MC is strong and easy to relate to. If you're Yoongi biased, this series is a must-read.
Inheritance - by @jincherie hybrid!Yoongi x reader. Lots of fluff, and another lovely series by jincherie. I adore the story and all of the emotions that are featured in this series. Watching Yoongi open up over the course of this series is a delight.
Jimin:
Tentacledipity - by @jincherie alien!au, soulmate!au, ongoing series. Like I mentioned earlier, this author does an amazing job with fantasy plot lines (or in this case, sci-fi) I don't read too many maknae line fics, but this one is my absolute favorite Jimin fic. I love the MC's borderline bratty behavior, and Jimin's carefully constructed patience that MC consistently tries to break down. A treat!
Taehyung:
Mystery Gang; Unsolved - by @jincherie paranormal!au! This series is my SHIT, I love the spookiness, the friendship between the reader and Taehyung, and how flirty Tae is. The humor is also very much there, which helps break up any tension brought on by the paranormal aspects of the plot. Romantic, funny, and a bit angsty!
Bibliotheque - by @joonbird college!au, rivals to lovers. Love the slow build to romance in this oneshot. I think about this fic every time I'm in a library LOL. Taehyung is written irresistibly, and the romance scenes are intense thanks to the slow build to romance over the course of the story. Peak boyfriend vibes from Tae here!
Jeongguk:
Wanted - by @jincherie alien!au, series! This takes place in the same universe as Tentacledipity, and is my favorite Jeongguk fic. I love how the author wrote Jeongguk in this series, the perfect combination of boyish mischief and steady confidence. Again, the world building is inspirational and fun to visualize!
These are just my absolute favorites I can remember off the top of my head at the moment, but I'd love to take more time and find some more of my favorites that I've read over the years. I hope you and everyone who reads this post checks out these wonderful authors and stories and enjoy them just as much as I do! And, thank you to all of the authors I've mentioned for your hard work and beautiful writing all these years. 💘💜

If I may, do you view Normandy as its own person like Brittany? Would they or Denmark have a relationship with Matthew?
I don't have Normandy being its own personification. It could but I'm lazy and I've got enough a-canonical takes as it is. Brittany is certainly her own person. Magnus and Matthew having a relationship is certainly a thing. Besides French, Greenlander and kind of not really-Russian maritime borders, Denmark and the US are the only land borders Canada technically has even if its just 1 chunk of frostbitten rock at the top of the world. There are certainly Norman influences in the language and vocabulary of Quebec. The adaptation of axes as weapons in French, especially Norman, maritime and later military culture. The long-lot system of settlement along the St. Laurent might be based on the Danish settlement patters in Normandy. There are names that mean things like 'of the sea' and 'cauldron of the aesir' and 'she made in the image of thor' up my family tree alone.
All of these things though, they're out of their original context. They aren't things the average Canadian, French or otherwise would think about. It's more strange blips in the history of empire than real living ties.
I think I answered the Vinland question once but it's an interesting question. I can see Magnus giving Matt shit if it's Matt's turn to hold the Arctic Council or another event in winter giving him a good slap on the shoulder in a "so much for the land of vines!" kind of way but that doesn't make him so. We do have evidence of medieval Scandinavian occupation at L'Anse aux Meadows and sparse evidence of other expeditions into the Canadian arctic but the connections there are tenuous and shaky and all too often used to prop up horrible things so ehh???? It can make me kind of uncomfortable for as much as it interests me.

Responding anonymously to your last post in case it’s any help to you:
I’m not the perfect candidate for you, I’m a few months out from 24, but I am aroace, and I did have a partner for about a year in high school. They were also ace, sex wasn’t really a factor for us, but it was after this relationship ended (circumstances pushed us apart but we remained close friends) that I realized I was aromantic.
I’d always felt so strongly about them, and it had hurt a lot that our relationship had to end, but it also hurt learning that it really never would have worked between us. They had feelings for me that I could never match. I felt like I’d unintentionally led them on. I tried not to blame myself too much for hurting them, just because I’d still had something to learn about myself.
In the years since then, we’ve stayed friends. They have a new partner now, I’m happy for the pair of them. I think I still like the idea of having a partner someday, but I’ve had to accept that that’s not going to look like most romantic partnerships, and the pool of potential partners who will understand and appreciate that is pretty small.
It’s a strange and sometimes frustrating place to be, but I’m hopeful that I might find a queerplatonic partner that makes me happy someday. Failing that, I’m content with my handful of meaningful friendships. They fill my life with love I can wholeheartedly return to them, that makes me happier than almost anything else.
So good luck out there. Trust yourself and your feelings, no matter what the world throws at you. Look for the people who accept you as you are, and do your best to accept yourself. Take the days as they come and just… do your best.
Someone out there’s rooting for ya.

Hey! Sorry it took me so long to answer this.
(For anyone wondering, anon is referencing this post.)
I really appreciate you taking the time to write to me. It's always good to hear that someone else has had a similar experience. I'm also a few months out from 24, so it's cool we've got that in common lol.
But yeah, I,,, had a boyfriend in highschool, realized 8 months in I just wasn't that interested in him. To be fair we're not super compatible, don't have a lot of interests in common, though we do make really good friends and he was always very sweet to me. I just kind of lost interest. I didn't start to consider I was aromantic then, though. That only happened with my more recent breakup.
I can't respond to this privately, since it's anonymous, and don't really feel comfortable discussing that publicly, but if you'd like to message me, anon, you're welcome to.
Anyway anyway anyway. I've been feeling pretty lost, but every so often I find a new bit of vocabulary or an account of someone's experience that makes me feel very seen and comforted. Thanks for being a piece of reassurance, and don't hesitate to reach out again, whoever you are.
(Also - re: finding things that make me feel seen, I found this the other day, & maybe you'll find it interesting: https://polyamory.com/threads/platonic-polyamory-exploring-a-unique-relationship-style.155590/
highly recommend it as a read, it put into words things I've really been struggling to understand.)

Ken Sato HC’s (extremely random) *.• (sfw)
Calls you “doll.” It started off sarcastic, like when he was teasing you or something of the sort. It soon became an unironic part of his vocabulary, now a common name between you two.
Speaking of pet names, also calls you “baby.”
PDA guy, but lowkey. Like an arm around you or a hand on your lower back, subtle claims and displays to show you off.
(Someone else said this and it was too true not to repeat) He bites. Whether that means nibbling your skin playfully or sinking his teeth into you is up to your interpretation.
Sometimes he leans down to hear you better, to kiss you, etc. and his dog tags hang in your face.
Refers to you as “my girl” in interviews and when telling people about you
Takes a long time for him to feel like he can show emotion around you. It took countless reassurances and a lot of love, but strangely enough, he finds comfort in knowing you’ve seen that side of him. You saw it and still stayed.
The type to dance with you in the living room to disgustingly sappy music (even when your laughter is much louder than the song)
Listener.
Unless he has something important, you will never catch this man in something other than sweats or his baseball uniform.
Knows he’s attractive, but doesn’t try too hard to seem so. He knows certain things he does are attractive and he does them, but doesn’t try to make them attractive, you know?
The cocky act isn’t ENTIRELY a front. Of course it’s mostly a show for the fans, but he’s a sarcastic man at heart.
No minute goes by that he doesn’t have a snarky comment
Except for when he’s with you.
He’s nicer when he’s with you.
Low spice tolerance (America did its number on him)
Likes to watch projections of his old life with you, pointing out little details and meanings behind things that couldn’t be seen. He loves teaching you about who he was before you.
So clingy when he’s tired. If you try to get out of bed it feels like you have chains holding you in your place. His determination is almost terrifying. Also much less sarcastic, his most sincere words have been spoken when he’s half asleep.
Speaking of which, the first time he told you he loved you was when you were cuddled up, falling asleep. He let it slip without realizing, his eyes shutting the moment he said it. His last memory of that night is your faint voice saying “I love you” as his dreams took over.
Will DESTROY a carton of milk in the middle of the night if he’s thirsty (he usually only uses it for cereal)
Likes to binge TV shows with you when he gets the chance. What’s a better way to spend a rainy day than to be lazy and escape from this world with the person he loves most?
Had a dog growing up
Nothing is safe from the heinous amounts of soy sauce he puts on his food. One bite would kill a Victorian child
Was actually really nervous about being in a committed relationship. Luckily, you being his saviour, helped him every step of the way. He’s changed so many ways since meeting you, one of them being the absence of the walls he had built.
Puts a hand on the back of your neck when he hugs you
Car guy (as hinted by his collection of cars in the movie)
Sometimes falls asleep on your chest, body in between your legs, and wakes up having no idea where he is.
Wishes he had more pictures of you, but always forgets to take them.
Always wins his games when you come to them. Seeing you in the stands is the highlight of the game, not the win.
MEAN side eye. Could kill a man with ts
Is 100% sure that he’ll never love another the way he loves you. He’s certain.
Thinks of you when he sees corny romance movies
Was genuinely surprised when you first told him you loved him (when he was awake this time). When he realized how real it all was, he was confused. He didn’t know someone could see all the bad parts of him and still really, really love him.
Once he got over the doubt, he was proud.
Felt pathetic when he first realized how much he loved you. The way he couldn’t get you out of his head was unfamiliar, and your effect on him was so much more than anyone else has had. It frustrated him to no end.
Loves trying new food places with you
Sometimes jumps a little when he sees you out of the corner of his eye, someone else in his house so often still new to him.
Doesn’t cry easily

Please. Please can you tell me what a baeddel is and why people (terfs?) used it in a derogatory manner on this website for a hot minute but now no one ever uses it at all
you asked for it, fucker
[2k words; philology and drama]
baeddel is an Old English word. i have no idea where it actually occurs in the Old English written corpus, but it occurs in a few placenames. its diminuitive form, baedling, is much better documented. it appears in the (untranslated) Canons of Theodore, a penitential handbook, a sort of guidebook for priests offering advice on what penances should be recommended for which sins. in a passage devoted to sexual transgressions it gives the penances suggested for a man who sleeps with a woman, a man who sleeps with another man, and then a man who sleeps with a baedling. so you have this construction of a baedling as something other than a man or a woman. and then it gives the penance for a baedling who sleeps with another baedling (a ludicrous one-year fast). then, by way of an explaination, Theodore delivers us one of the most enigmatic phrases in the Old English corpus: "for she is soft, like an adulturess."
the -ling suffix in baedling is masculine. but Theodore uses feminine pronouns and suffixes to describe baedlings. as we said, it's also used separately from male and female. but it's also used separately from their words for intersex and it never appears in this context. all of this means that you have this word that denotes a subject who is, as Christopher Monk put it, "of problematic gender." interested historians have typically interpreted it as referring to some category of homosexual male, such as Wayne R. Dines in his two-volume Encyclopedia of Homosexuality who discusses it in the context of an Old English glossary which works a bit like an Old English-Latin dictionary, giving Old English words and their Latin counterparts. the Latin words the Anglo-Saxon lexicographer chose to correspond with baedling were effeminatus and mollis, and Lang concludes that it refers to an "effeminate homosexual" (pg 60, Anglo Saxon). this same glossary gives as an Old English synonym the word waepenwifstere which literally means "woman with a penis," and which Dines gives the approximate translation (hold on tight) male wife.
R. D. Fulk, a philologist and medievalist, made a separate analysis of the term in his study on the Canons of Theodore 'Male Homoeroticism in the Old English Canons of Theodore', collected in Sex and Sexuality in Medieval England, 2004. he analysed it as a 'sexual category' (sexual as in sexuality), owing to the context of sexual transgressions in the Canons. he decides that it refers to a man who bottoms in sexual relationships with another man. i don't have the article on hand so i'm not sure what his reasoning was, but this seems obviously inadequate given what we know from the glossary described by Dines. Latin has a word for bottom, pathica, and the lexicographer did not use this in their translation, preferring words that emphasized the baedling's femininity like effeminatus, and doesn't address the sexual context at all. Dines, however, only reading this glossary, seems to decide that it refers to a type of male homosexual too hastily, considering the Canons explicitly treat them separately. both Dines and Fulk immediately reduce the baedling to a subcategory of homosexual when neither of the sources to hand actually do so themselves.
by now it should be obvious why, seven or so years ago, we interpreted it as an equivalent to trans woman. I mean come on - a woman with a penis! these days I tend to add a bit of a caution to this understanding, which is that trans woman is the translation of baedling which seems most adequate to us, just as baedling was the translation of effeminatus that seemed most adequate to our lexicographer. but the term cannot translate perfectly; its sense was derived from some minimal context; a legal context, a doctrinal context, and so forth... the way Anglo-Saxons understood sex/gender is complicated but it has been argued that they had a 'one sex model' and didn't regard men and women as biologically separate types, which is obviously quite different from the sexual model accepted today; in any case they didn't have access to the karyotype and so on. the basic categories they used to understand gender and sexuality were different from ours. in particular, Hirschfield et al. should be understood as a particularly revolutionary moment in the genealogy of transsexuality; the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft essentially invented the concept of the 'sex change', the 'transition', conceived as a biological passage from one sex to the other. even in other contexts where (forgive me) #girlslikeus changed their bodies in some way, like the castration of the priestesses of Cybele, or those belonging to the various historical societies which we believe used premarin for feminization [disputed; see this post], there is no record that they were ever considered men at any stage or had some kind of male biology that preceded their 'gender identity.' the concept of the trans woman requires the minimal context of the coercive assignment at birth and its subsequent (civil and bio-technological) rejection. i have never encountered evidence that this has ever been true in any previous society. nonetheless, these societies still had gendered relations, and essentially wherever we find these gendered relations we also find some subject which is omitted or for whom it has been necessary to note exceptions. what is of chief interest to us is not so much that there was such a subject here or there in history (and whatever propagandistic uses this fact might have), but understanding why these regularities exist.
a very parsimonious explanation is that gender is a biological reality, and there is some particular biological subject which a whole host of words have been conjured to denote. if this were the case then we would expect that, no matter what gender/sexual system we encounter in a given society, it will inevitably find some linguistic expression. if, like me, you find this idea revolting, then you should busy yourself trying to come up with an alternative explanation which is not just plausible, but more plausible. my best guesses are outside the scope of this answer...
anyway, all of this must be very interesting to the five or six people invested in the confluence of philology and gender studies. but why on earth did it become so widely used, in so many strange and unusual contexts, in the 2010s? we're very sorry, but yes, it's our fault. you see apart from all of this, there is also a little piece of information which goes along with the word baeddel, which is that it's the root of the Modern English word bad. by way of, no less, the word baedan, 'to defile'. how this defiled historical subject came to bear responsibility for everything bad to English-speakers doesn't seem to be known from linguistic evidence. however, it makes for a very pithy little remark on transmisogyny. my dear friend [REDACTED] made a playful little post making this point and, good Lord, had we only known...
it went like this. its such a funny little idea that we all start changing our urls to include the word baeddel. in those days it was common to make puns with your url (we always did halloween and christmas ones); i was baeddelaire, a play on the French poet Baudelaire. while we all still had these urls a series of events which everyone would like to forget happened, and we became Enemies of Everyone in the Whole World. because of the url thing people started to call us "the baeddels." then there was "a cult" called "the baeddels" and so forth. this cult had various infamies attatched to it and a constellation of indefensible political positions. ultimately we faced a metric fucking shit ton of harassment, including, for some of my friends, really serious and bad irl harassment that had long-term bad awful consequences relating to stable housing and physical safety and i basically never want to talk about that part of my life ever again. and i never have to, because i've come to realize that for most people, when they use the word baeddel, they don't know about that stuff. it doesn't mean that anymore.
so what does it mean? you'll see it in a few contexts. TERFs do use it, as you guessed. i am not quite sure what they really mean by it and how it differs from other TERF barbs. i think being a baeddel invovles being politically active or at least having a political consciousness, but in a way thats distinct from just any 'TRA' or trans activist. so perhaps 'militant' trans women, but perhaps also just any trans woman with any opinions at all. how this was transmitted from tumblr/west coast tranny drama to TERF vocabulary i have no idea. but you will also find - or, could have found a few years ago - i would say 'copycat' groups who didn't know us or what we believed but heard the rumours, and established their own (generously) organizations (usually facebook groups) dedicated to putting those principles into practice. they considered themselves trans lesbian separatists and did things like doxx and harass trans women who dated cafabs. if you don't know about this, yes, there really were such groups. they mostly collapsed and disappeared because they were evildoers who based their ideology on a caricature. i knew a black trans woman who was treated very badly by one of these groups, for predictable reasons. so long-time readers: if you see people talking about their bad experiences with 'baeddels', you can't necessarily relate it to the 2014 context and assume they're carrying around old baggage. there are other dreams in the nightmare.
the most common way you'll see it today, in my experience, is in this form: people will say that it was a "slur" for trans women. they might bring up that it's the root of the word bad, and they might even think that you shouldn't use the word bad because of it, or that you shouldn't use the word baeddel because it's a slur. all of this is a silly game of internet telephone and not worth addressing. except to say that it's by no means clear that baeddel, or baedling, were slurs, or even insulting at all. while Theodore doesn't provide us with a description of how we can have sex with a baedling without sinning, and it may be the case that any sexual relations with a baedling was considered sinful, sexuality-based transgressions were not taken all that seriously in those days. there was a period where homosexuality within the Church was almost sanctioned, and it wasn't until much later that homosexuality became so harshly proscribed, to the extent that it was thought to represent a threat to society, etc. and as i mentioned, there are places in England named after baedlings. there is a little parish near Kent which is called Badlesmere, Baeddel's Lake, which was recorded in the Anglo-Saxon Domesday Book (as having a lord, a handful of villagers and a few slaves; perhaps only one or two households). it's not unheard of, but i just don't know very many places called Faggot Town or some such. it's possible that baedlings had some role in Anglo-Saxon society which we are not aware of; it could even have been a prestigious one, as it was in other societies. there is just no evidence other than a couple of passing references in the literature and we'll probably never have a complete picture.

what was steve and eddie’s relationship like when they were young, before they all moved away from hawkins? we’re they close friends with one of those friendships that are confusing and really toeing the line between platonic and not? we’re they friends but not super close, friends in the way they babysat and loved the same kids and spent time together through mostly convenience and mutual connection? what was the whole family dynamic like in early days after vecna? obviously they had some feelings going on there and i’m really curious like how their relationship was and how they fell in love with eachother in the first place!!!
how does anyone fall in love with anything? by degrees.
i think steve was really confused for a long time about his sexuality; he and eddie got super close super fast, it was all so heightened, and then he was gone to pittsburgh and then seattle and steve was just trying how to figure out how to want things. he liked eddie, he liked having an adult male friend in his same age group, same as he liked jonathan and argyle, but there was this strange undercurrent with eddie that he couldn't figure out, because he didn't have the vocabulary for it.
he liked how funny eddie was and how good he was with the kids, and how he was so unapologetically himself, because steve had spent so long hiding every facet of himself. eddie knew who he was, and steve liked that -- and he thought for a long time it was just, like, jealousy, over that, that made their relationship a little weird, a little strained. when eddie comes out in '89, this is just a layer to that jealousy: eddie has a name for who he is, what he loves and does -- steve's just this weird townie who survived the worst things in the world, and he's struggling.
in 1991, "my own private idaho" comes out. steve goes to see it by himself, because everyone else is away for college, and he likes keanu reeves. he spends the movie with a white knuckled grip on the arm rests and ends up crying in the bathroom after, locked in a stall, not sure why he's crying except for all the reasons why he knows he's crying.
he's never seen himself in a movie like he sees himself in river phoenix's character, in mikey waters, and he thinks, i'm bisexual and i'm in love with eddie munson and it's too fucking late, i'm too fucking late.
he doesn't let himself think anything else for years.

Kalim was excited to have a new friend! Oh the parties they'd have! The fun! The food!
When he met you, you were... distant. Did he do something wrong? Did he upset you?
He really did try to find out what he did wrong, and often sent you invitations (Malleus eyeing the invitations) you some of the parties he makes, but you don't show up nor reply, making him sadden.
Jamil low key face palming
During a normal sunny day at school, he and Jamil headed to the library to grab some books, and during the process, he found you, tucked in a corner with mountains, upon mountains of books around you, and you? You were reading.
"Ah? S/o??"
"HEEEEK!!!!"
he startled you so badly that plants from outside grew. which of course caused a commotion.
Kalim apologised for startling you, but he asked a question about your attendance, your reply was to fiddle with your sleeves before answering with a small voice that you were afraid of people despite being a deity.
Kalim immedietly thought of Idia, but he crossed the line of no return, but Kalim smiled warmly, held your hand, making you choke, and said a more softer voice that he'd throw a smaller party, just the three of them. (Don't tell me you forgot Jamil, HE MAKES THE DANG FOOD)
You accepted.
Several parties later, you two were unsurprisingly in love with each other that the students of NRC were rolling their eyes at the moments the two shared. COULD YOU TWO DATE ALREADY!?!?
When you two started dating, Kalim made a celebration, but kept you in a more secluded section, that way you could be apart of it, but not near a large crowd of people. And you were thankful for it.
As a couple, Kalim practically adores you. And he's super affectionate too! Jalim is glad to have someone more tameable and it also makes it easier to locate Kalim if he ever goes off by himself.
𝓙𝓪𝓶𝓲𝓵 𝓥𝓲𝓹𝓮𝓻
He thought nothing of you at first.
Until you had full scores on everything.
He had requested you to help with Scarabia's studying, in offer of full meals, which you complied with due to living in a run down dorm and doesn't have a lot of money to support themselves with.
However, the study group went wrong due to the amount of people.
Jamil then figured that you didn't work too well with large numbers of people, and he found that you were slightly dependent on him when it comes to speaking.
He ended up planning smaller groups, working on those who had the worst grades then up.
And thanks to you, their dorm gradually got better.
Jamil spent time with you whenever he was free from following Kalim, and he was fairly fond of you.
You were soft, very soft, but highly reliable in terms of knowledge. So he'd often vent to you which is surprising.
But your presence and advice helped him grow better.
Jamil fell for you when he found you smiling at a Scarabia student showing you their improved grade, you looked like a warm hearted maternal parent, and his heart skipped at the sight.
When you two began dating, it was a bit rocky due to Jamil's family duty to serve the Al-Asim family. But Kalim was very kind to allow Jamil more free time, in exchange that he brings you over for more study parties!
You figured since Kalim wasn't fond of studying and more for partying, that you'd make a study party which improved Kalim's grade by ten folds. Jalim practically wept tears that the seven sent him this angel.

Azul was greedy for the power you possibly possess. and your money.
Azul underestimated you since he witnessed your lack of brains in terms of money. You forget about having your wallet on you, and whenever someone offers to pay for you, you attempt to buy everything without a single thought.
This was going to be an easy contract, Azul thought. They're an idiot, Azul thought. They can't complete this contract, Azul thought.
"I've completed my end of the contract. Now you must do yours."
"Huh? Nani?"
Azul was stupefied by this, he whipped his head towards the Leech twins, both begrudgingly nodding their heads in confirmation at the archon completing their conditions of the contract.
Azul had tried to change the details of the contract, you of course allowed it the first time.
But when you returned with the conditions once again completed, Azul tried to add more.
However, you weren't having it.
You stood up and leaned down to Azul, towering over him. A sudden pressure weighed the three mercreatures, it was heavy and foreboding. Your eyes glowed a gold with the amber ombre in your hair glowing gold as well.
"I was lenient to allow you the first time. Either fulfill your end of the deal or break the contract. But if you break the contract, you will suffer the wrath of the rock."
Azul was terrified.
When Azul fell for you, he questioned himself. How in the seven did he fall for a person like YOU!? He will never remember how, but all he knows is that he's in waaay to deep.
When you two became a couple, you were far more charasmatic and charming than before, it was like it was turned up a notch. Or two. or more...
The contract loving couple have been making more money than ever thanks to the Geo Archon, the avatar of contracts. It's either fill the conditions or suffer the wrath of the rock. Or just, don't make a contract. Simple.
But then we got the one brain cell trio doing their dumb sh**.
𝓙𝓪𝓭𝓮 𝓛𝓮𝓮𝓬𝓱
Oya?
What an intriguing being.
Jade was the first to be interested in you. But he couldn't exactly find you that well since you practically mixed with the crowd a little too well than he'd like. [Bro, Zhongli and Venti has statues of themselves around Liyue and Mondstaft, AND NO ONE MANAGES TO THINK "hmmm.. You know, he looks like one that statue there.. Wait a minute-" LIKE, SRSLY!!! Venti is more obvious, I can understand Zhongli since he wears more funeral consultant clothing, but he still somehow blends in with the crowd. Unlike a Lil wind spirit.]
But when the moment came where you made a contract, Jade was more than happy to hinder you, only for you to complete the conditions before he could figure out your plan.
"... What?"
["OSMANTHUS WI-"]
After that fiasco with you giving a very large heavy warning, Jade was by your side whenever he wasn't with Floyd, questioning your knowledge, in which you were more than happy enough to comply.
Jade fell for you when you showed how competent you were unlike the other miserable guppies in school. Sure you had a few problems, but nothing with a little Jade there and everything is perfect. He also favored your knowledge, specially about fungi.
When you two became a couple, it was.. Strange to say, a air headed but scary consultant with a sadistically calm eelman? That's ringing bells for everyone.
𝓕𝓵𝓸𝔂𝓭𝓮 𝓛𝓮𝓮𝓬𝓱
Floyd had zero, zip, non, 100% no interest in you. Why? You looks, sound and seem boring. And he stand corrected.
it was later when you completed the conditions, which, not gonna lie, spooked Floyd.
"Hah?"
Later, he began to go after you like he did with Goldfish (Riddle), and when he tried to squeeze you, he found himself squeezing a shield instead.
He found himself utterly thrilled and had did several attempts at you, which failed.
His interest in you and your abilities heightened.
Then your relationship bloomed.
It was hard to say if it was romantic or platonic, but either way, Floyd was perfectly happy. Happy to have a partner who continues to show things or tell him things about their world.
As long as Floyd kept out of trouble and/or content, Jade and Azul didn't say question their relationship.

Who are you? What are you? Why are you here? What are you doing? Get out.
Leona didn't care for you, not one single bit. Until you messed with his sleep schedule due to your chaoticness.
Whenever your around, you just bring trouble with you. And he doesn't like it one bit.
And when you bring trouble, you bring noise.
Which officially ruins his nap times.
However, Leona praises and respects your prowess in battle. You always gave it your all, which he liked. You weren't holding back, which allowed him to gauge how powerful you were as a deity with or without your element.
As it turns out, you're stronger than what you make yourself out to be, but what catches Leona's attention the most, was how calculating you were. It was as if you were analyzing him
To be honest, he felt violated.
At most times, you're energetic, but when your quiet or serious, it's either pack your sh** and leave or get out of their way.
Because when your either if those, you will either send someone to the nurse with severe casualties or some of the schools property will be destroyed. And of course, there is a justified reason for this.
Other than to make Crowley very upset of course.
Leona fell for you with your strength. He loves a woman who can lead and he could just relax. Unless it comes to some other type of leadership, like in the bedroom, then that will change. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
These two are dangerous as a couple when Leona's awake and active. And when Leona's on the move, expect a gremlin to be tailing after him, and be sure to clear out of their way. Mercy didn't in their vocabulary.
𝓡𝓾𝓰𝓰𝓲𝓮 𝓑𝓾𝓬𝓬𝓱𝓲
Huh? Do I know you? No? Goodbye.
Ruggie, quite literally, didn't give a rats ass about you.
To him, you were like any other beast man, rowdy and rough, other than your form that is.
But thankfully, you knew how to take care of yourself. Less work for Ruggie. I guess.
Not only that you knew how to cook. That was a god sent gift to Ruggie. Sadly though, you only know how to make mostly meat dishes. If it contains vegetables, expect the veggies to be over seasoned.
Leona was scared when he saw you in the kitchen, only to calm down seeing you being calm and not rowdy.
Ruggie fell for your cooking. He is literally the term "To get to a mans heart, you go through their stomach". although you should work on cooking vegetables better for a more healthier lifestyle.
𝓙𝓪𝓬𝓴 𝓗𝓸𝔀𝓵
Strong? Strong.
You two are 100% besties.
You two are glued to the hip whenever you guys are free or share classes.
You both like to exercise and spar, so you two mostly go for each other.
To say the least, Jack mostly saw you as a sibling. Sorry, no romance.
Jack often scolds you for not eating more vegetables.
Which makes you pout and huff.
Cute lil tyke - Leona

Nice, another rule setter like me. We're gonna be great friends.
"Explain why two cubes of sugar should be in a lemon tea? It's blasphemy."
I see you have chosen violence 😌
Riddle at first liked you, until you learned about the rules of the Queen of Hearts, did he start to hate you.
"BE QUIET OR IT'S OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!"
He loathed you.
He thought that since your a judge, you'd understand the rules, much like him. But no, you judged the rules as well, evaluating if they are fair or not.
Whenever you call out on the rules that appeared ridiculously stupid to have (like the two sugar cubes in lemon tea. That's bs to you.)
After the overblot, you were more nicer when he changed.
He stand corrected.
But he didn't mind it, he low key enjoyed arguing with you, without him screaming at you of course.
You two as a couple sends fear in everyone. A judge and a tyrant? That's a deadly combo.
𝓣𝓻𝓮𝔂 𝓒𝓵𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓻
Trey had taken a liking to you, seeing how similar you are to Riddle.
He enjoyed answering your questions about rules, but if there were rules he can't remember, he'd look at them with you to not only answer your question, but to commit them to memory in case.
What he's scared of is when you give trials regarding about incidents. Riddle would present his case then the 'innocent' or innocent would present theirs.
If the person is guilty, you ensure punishment, because like Riddle, you detest rule breakers unless in reason. You didn't mind them bending the rules as long as it doesn't break.
Trey is envious of your abilities, but you reassure him the his Doodle Suit is superior if you can use it against others magic.
You often praised him as well.
You admitted to thinking about a scenario of if Trey was born in Tevyat, he'd receive a hydro vision.
He flushed in response, secretly happy to have caught your attention.
You two as a couple puts everyone, minus Riddle because it's you, at ease.

"You have flaws? I only see perfection!"
He's a smooth talker, albeit feminine due to having a lot of sisters, but smooth nonetheless.
He's a simp for you, willing to use his unique magic to do anything and everything for you.
Literally fell at first sight of you.
As a couple, Cater often takes couple photos with you, at first you were content with the pictures, but at this point they kinda peeved her when he takes pictures on every occasion.
"Smiiiile~"
"Cater, I love you, but please, stop."
"If you give me a kiss I might~"

You're his role model.
Literally the Geno to your Saitama.
He carries a notebook with him to take notes on you since he strives to be like you. A model being.
Even if he looks smart, he still has a split braincell between Ace and Grim.
Don't hold it against him if he's trying to know almost EVERYTHING about you.
More platonic than romantic.
𝓐𝓬𝓮 𝓣𝓻𝓪𝓹𝓹𝓸𝓵𝓪
Complete opposites.
And completely disliked each other.
You rubbed him the wrong way, maybe it was because you were more justified than him, better at things than he was.
He didn't know what, it was just you being better than him. He understands he's not smart, because he foes dumb sh** with the other two.
But whenever you have to deal with their messes on their own, he feels irritated.
He often tries to get after you as well.
"Oh wow, such a god you are. Pathetic."
*cue angry archon noises with an 8 feet tall wave behind them, ready to flood Ace's ass.*
Yeah, your relationship is very... Rocky and slightly concerning.

Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez ― (Ruining) The Christmas Spirit
PAIRING: Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez/Reader WORD COUNT: 2.1k WARNING(S): Alcohol mention TYPE: Humor if not straight up a crackfic, Fluff, A bit too corny for my liking, but I'm embracing the Christmas spirit here
Ichigo, even within whatever the capacity of his vocabulary is, knows the word jolly doesn't describe Grimmjow. Not even festive. Anything beyond bloodthirsty is a stretch, the way he sees it.
Orihime doesn't seem to agree.
Correction: Ichigo does not know what she's thinking, but the Espadas received an invitation to a Christmas party as a feeble and unnecessary attempt at keeping the peace, so to speak. And she was the one who came up with it. Maybe it would've been fine if all this didn't lead to now ― Grimmjow being the one to show up, with you trailing behind him as his only company, a rather clueless smile plastered on your face.
"Where's Nel?" Ichigo asks once he has processed the situation. Really, she seems like a much better fit for this occasion. He can't help but think this will either go in an uncomfortable direction or end with the party in flames.
Instead of answering the question, Grimmjow looks him up and down and says, "Damn, that's a hideous... little garment you've got there."
Ichigo, too, glances down at his bright red sweater, which says 'I ♥ COOKIEZ' with a crudely drawn Santa on it. His face, as he examines himself, is too unamused, too serious. For one, calling it a garment is dramatic. A garment is a few steps away from being a robe or a garb, and that's too close for comfort. The second problem here is that Grimmjow could never understand a good, old-fashioned, incredibly ugly Christmas sweater.
However, Ichigo and 'I ♥ COOKIEZ' have been having a good night together until this point, so he's feeling a bit defensive over it.
"It's a Christmas tradition," he tries. "You wouldn't get it."
"What do you mean I wouldn't―"
Interrupting your colleague's (although he would still insist he's your superior) incoming deranged rant that would surely start a pointless fight, you say, "A tradition?! That's so interesting!"
Grimmjow shuts up and whips his head around to look at you judgementally, because he's always making it a point to be an asshole. But it's not his fault you sound happy to have come close to unlocking the secret lore behind 'I ♥ COOKIEZ', your face making you appear a bit too fascinated by the offending piece of fabric.
"Yeah, well, this holiday has a lot of human customs surrounding it," Ichigo explains, smiling slightly, but only because you're on his side. Kind of. He steps aside to let the two of you in, since blocking off the door for this long is strange.
Ichigo knows your relationship with Grimmjow to be bizarre. You've always been nice, as far as he could tell, so how you could stand or even admire the blue-haired moron was beyond him. Apparently you were his only Fracción left after that night Grimmjow got ballsy and came down to Kamakura Town. Having been his least favorite subordinate before that, your survival led to the man developing a very begrudging respect for you.
You, being oblivious, probably never noticed the odd changes between hot and cold.
The details after that are lost on him. Why the two of you still hang together, Ichigo doesn't know. He doesn't care to learn either. So he closes the door as he picks his ear and disappears back into the so-called party.
You and Grimmjow are quick to separate. You know he's just going to act grouchy the whole night, and you don't mind his lack of pizzazz or whatever, but you've got some catching up to do, the first person you approach being Orihime.
After she gives you a warm greeting and a close-eyed grin, you shift the conversation towards a topic you find more interesting. "Hey, Orihime, Ichigo said something about Christmas traditions. What's that about?"
"Was he trying to explain that ugly sweater? He's so silly," she says with a smile. Usually this would be considered a diss, but the girl never means to offend. It's not just any ugly sweater. It's an ugly sweater (affectionate).
"Well, he kind of was."
Orihime explains some things to you and the two of you have a lot of fun through your confusion about the logistics of most of these, but you find the last thing she mentions the most curious.
To finish her already lengthy explanation, Orihime jumps up as if remembering something and then points across the room. Over the doorway that connects the hall with the kitchen, when you squint hard enough, you can make out a tiny shrub-looking plant. Though, it appears to be fake.
"There's also this tradition that if two people stand under the mistletoe, they have to kiss!" she tells you, sounding somewhat excited at the prospect as she clasps her hands together. She herself wouldn't really try this, but it's a mix of cheesy and romantic she can appreciate.
"Isn't that, like, weird, though? Like, what if they don't want to kiss?" you ask, perplexed.
She waves off your concerns. "Oh, that's fine. You can always say no to the kiss. It's just something for fun, it's not meant to be pressuring."
This new information seems to relieve you until the other cogs in your brain start turning. "So, if I want to try it, that wouldn't be bad, right?"
"Of course not!" Orihime once again doesn't bother masking her enthusiasm, though she's characteristically not quick on the uptake. "Will you? Oh! Do you have someone in mind?"
You give a quick glance in Grimmjow's direction. Of course, you're not stupid enough to think he's going to sniff flowers with you in a field or whatever. You appreciate his... douchebaggery. Regardless, you think doing something as cliche as this 'tradition' with him would be sweet, even if the fantasy is unrealistic and self-indulgent. You don't feel the need to lie about it. You're sure Orihime would understand. "Kind of."
"Kind of?" She tilts her head in a questioning manner.
"Uh, nevermind that," you say. "What do I do? Just stand there?"
She puts her hand on her chin in thought. "Yeah? It's really simple, right?"
You shrug and take position after Orihime tells you good luck.
___
Ichigo almost bursts out laughing when he hears Grimmjow ask why you've been standing under the 'weird ceiling booger' for fifteen minutes. Maybe it's the first part of that description that gets him. He's uncertain why it’s so amusing, but Ichigo knows this isn't even a ceiling. Yet again, he's proved himself quite brooding though, and even Grimmjow's general ignorance doesn't break him. Rukia's probably the only person who can make him giggle.
He rolls his eyes. "I don't know. Maybe you should go over there and check?" Now, subtlety isn't one of his strengths. It's sheer coincidence that Ichigo doesn't know what you might want with the mistletoe either. Bored? Or just spacing out in a weird Arrancar ritual he's unaware of? None of his business, probably.
"Tch. I don't care that much, I was just asking."
Ichigo raises his eyebrow. "Ok? But what's the point of asking, then? If you don't care?"
Finding nothing to retort with, Grimmjow huffs as he narrows his eyes at his rival. "Shut up, you're a ginger."
"What does that have to do with anything?!" he yells, flailing his fists around.
"Maybe everything. Maybe nothing at all," Grimmjow answers in an uncharacteristically ominous fashion, though his razor-sharp grin makes it clear this is meant to be mocking more than anything else.
Of course, the mention of Ichigo's obviously orange hair starts a fight.
___
Meanwhile, Ikkaku is thinking about something. Except he's already drunk and therefore rendered incompetent in scheming. Regardless, when he announces that he "has an idea", no one protests against hearing it.
"You guys see how [Y/n] is standing there all alone and pathetic, under the mistletoe?" he points out rather rudely, swinging a bottle of something in his hand, now too intoxicated for tact. Not that he has much of that, even with sober thoughts.
Rukia looks over in your direction. "This is about Grimmjow, isn't it?"
"Eh, who cares who it's about?" Ikkaku shrugs. Then he tells them he believes you don't deserve to be on your lonesome like you have been, which leads to his next proposal. "I say we all give 'em a smooch on the cheek."
Rukia is about to dismiss the whole thing as dumb, but before she can even open her mouth, Byakuya stands up, declares, "That's pointless," and walks away, all while keeping his signature look of only slight contempt.
"Killjoy," Ikkaku mutters.
Rukia is not a killjoy. She stays. Although she's contemplating her life choices by the time her and her friends have waddled their way to your direction in a line.
Renji goes first. Bowing his head slightly and in a wannabe suave manner, he asks you, "May I?"
After you allow him... Well, nothing impressive happens. He kisses your cheek with drunken clumsiness. Ikkaku is next, and he does it too rough, like he's trying to beat your ass instead of a sympathetic gesture. Rangiku is probably the only one who comes close to making this an enjoyable experience. Rukia stands last and, stiffly with admitted discomfort, pecks you on the cheek.
This is the stupidest thing she's ever done. You don't look upset, however ― which is a given since you let them all embarrass themselves. In fact, you seem kind of pleased. Like, hey, you didn't get what you wanted, but at least you got to take part in the human tradition!
___
Grimmjow is half-way through giving Ichigo a wedgie (an illegal move even in personal, undramatized scuffles) when he sees what has been transpiring. A bunch of the Shinigami just taking turns kissing you on the cheek. He narrows his eyes and drops the waistband of Ichigo's underwear. "Hey. Hey. What are they doing?"
"Mistletoe stuff," Ichigo answers absentmindedly, though once he realizes Grimmjow freed him, he wipes the calculating expression off his opponent’s face. By kneeing him in the balls. That's what he gets for playing dirty.
The silence that stretches while waiting for his recovery is embarrassing, mainly because Grimmjow is just crouching as he looks like he's trying not to cry. It doesn't help that his first words after are, "What's a mistletoe?"
"'The ugly ceiling booger.'" Ichigo uses air-quotes for emphasis.
Grimmjow contemplates it with deliberating seriousness. "I knew that shit was demonic."
Ichigo looks at him as if he's insane. Grimmjow stares at him right back, too, like he doesn't realize how ridiculous he's being. And he doesn't, he never does.
"So, what does it do?"
The boy frowns. He really doesn't want to be talking about this anymore.
"What does it do?" Grimmjow repeats, albeit sounding more impatient now, his mouth turning into somewhat of a snarl.
"It's just a tradition to kiss under the mistletoe. It's really not that deep."
The Arrancar squints at him again, suspicious of his motives for whatever reason. Were you just standing there waiting for someone to kiss you? Grimmjow blinks and processes this information rather quickly, though, smirking this time.
"Why are you looking like. That?"
Disregarding Ichigo's valid question, he struts up to you like some kind of peacock ready to show off its tail. You smile at him and he mirrors it, though much sharper. Despite Grimmjow's obnoxiousness, it's hard not to commend his good looks.
Then, with his usual bravado, he leans in to whisper in your ear. "I know you want to kiss me."
"Cheeky," you tell him, enough to ruin the mood. "You've always had a big ego. Very preposterous to think I wanted to kiss you."
"Whatever, at least I don't say cheeky or preposterous."
"Well, the question is, if you know what I'm waiting for you to do, will you?"
He snarls like you're being silly (the internal use of that word further ruining the atmosphere). "I wouldn't kiss you on the cheek. None of that pussy shit. And I wouldn't lean either. That's for beta males."
"I really don't know what you're talking about," you say while innocently blinking your eyelashes.
Grimmjow scoffs and rips off the mistletoe and throws it on the floor as he observes it with great distaste. Like it's some piece of trash Orihime found on the street and put up in her house for fun. You wonder where the mood swing came from, but figure it doesn't matter when he connects his lips with yours next, maybe a bit too passionately considering you're still standing in proximity of the kitchen.
Not exactly the romantic encounter you'd been expecting, but again, you'll take it.

The cold silence of the room felt like stabs at your inside. You commanded your feet to stop bouncing up and down as you unconsciously started to bite off the dead skin of your bottom lip. The white corporate light from above reflected off your brand new lanyard hanging delicately from your neck. You felt the coarse blue fabric rub against your neck as you mindlessly fiddled with your lanyard; the newly printed photo of your face stared back at you with a smile.
The creak of the door to your left was what broke you from your nervous fidgets. Whipping your head up from your lanyard, you immediately stood up ready to bow to whoever came through that door.
It was a girl. She looked around the same age as you, if not older. Her attire was what gave her away. Her appearance essentially mirrored yours: hair tied back into a ponytail with a white blouse and black work pants. She also had the familiar blue ‘JYPE’ labeled strap hanging from her neck.
“Hello,” you spoke meekly, scared to disturb the cold silence that had a hold on the room you were in.
“Hello,” she replied. “My name is Choi Na-eun, I’m the new social media strategist intern and today is my first day.”
This is so relieving, you thought, another newbie to share the stress with me.
“This is my first day too,” you perked up, “I’ll be starting as the new junior Chinese marketing assistant.”
Getting the acceptance email from JYP Entertainment was definitely a high point in your life. The feeling of butterflies swarming your insides as you clicked the email open only to see your acceptance was immediately locked as a core memory. All the years of memorizing thousands of Korean and English vocabulary flashcards, the panic attacks before your finance exams, and the many, many late night coffee breaks were worth it the moment you received your first legitimate job offer, and from the esteemed JYP Entertainment company no less.
“Chinese marketing?” Na-eun asked. “So you aren’t from here, I take it.”
You shook your head. “I am from China. I completed my degree a while ago with a major in Language and a minor in Business. To be honest, I’ve done internships back home, but it’s been my dream to move to a new country.”
All of what you said was true. Up until now, your surroundings have never changed in all of your twenty-three years living. From the walk with your grandmother to daycare to the vast campus of your university, the view of your city has never changed. Your social circle stayed stagnant since you were able to talk and your love life was — for a lack of a better word — uneventful.
It wasn’t until the day you decided to start applying for careers outside your home country that you felt hopeful. Hopeful that you could find an escape from your inert lifestyle and escape the burnout and stress that has been building up over the years. And so, on a day when you were feeling unusually confident, you gathered up the courage and spent hours sending out applications to organizations all over Asia that pertained to your specific degree. The applications were mainly for small jobs at small companies, however, your strange spike of motivation gave you the confidence to apply to the everso esteemed JYP Entertainment located in Korea. Of course you knew about this company — you and your friends played songs by ‘Twice’ nonstop back in highschool — but you didn’t realize the full power that this company had on the entertainment market until you did your full research. To say that you thought you had no chance was an understatement. This application was so far of a reach that you purposefully forced your mind to erase all memory of even applying.
However, with your education, your work experience, and whatever tiny bit of luck you had, you somehow made it through the initial application process. Then the next. And the next. Then the interview. And now, you were nervously sitting in this white painted room with Na-eun, in a completely new country, waiting for your manager to come greet you.
“So you’re from China? You’ve got to teach me chinese sometime.” Na-eun smiled.
You giggled in return while nodding your head. You were relieved that you’ve met a potential friend so early in your career in this company. This was one of your big worries. With your social circle being so stagnant for the majority of your life back in China, you rarely had the opportunity to meet new people, much less make new friends.
You were about to inquire more into Na-eun’s life when the door to your left abruptly opened. In the blink of an eye, three new people strutted in — two women and one man. They seemed to be higher status than you and Na-eun judging by their attire. All three were styled in some type of blazer and dress pants and there was no lanyard to be found on any of them.
“Hello new employees,” the man greeted. Judging by his face, he looked to be in his late thirties at the least. His hair was styled back neatly and his lips slanted up, giving him a fox-like appearance. “I am Executive Manager Kim. Joined beside me on the left is Social Media Manager An and to my right is Marketing Manager Chen.”
Both you and Na-eun immediately stood up to bow and introduce yourselves.
“Hello. My name is Choi Na-eun, I’m the new social media strategist intern.” Na-eun said.
“Hello. My name is y/n, I’m the new junior Chinese marketing assistant.” You repeated after her, copying exactly what she said. You did not want to screw anything up on your first day, especially your first impression.
Manager Kim reached over to Na-eun, introducing himself and giving her a firm handshake. He then slowly moved over to you, and reached for your hand.
“Y/n,” he gave time for your name to settle on his tongue as he gave a sly smile. “You’re not from here, aren't you?”
You shook your head ‘no’. “No, sir. I’m from China where I studied language and business. I hope to do well here as the Chinese marketing assistant.” You replied, mentally cursing yourself for sounding so timid.
“I’m glad to hear,” Manager Kim chuckled, “I’m sure you’ll treat me and your other managers well.”
You felt an uncomfortable shiver pass through you as he brushed his thumb along your hand before letting go. This feeling was excused as nervousness, after all, this was your first day and your first time meeting your higher-ups.
You introduced yourself to Manager Chen, assuming that she would be the one you were to assist in your time here at JYPE. Judging by her last name, you presumed that she was Chinese as well.
“Forgive me for being so straight up Manager Chen, but are you Chinese?” You asked.
“That is alright, y/n,” she smiled, “I’m not. My Husband is, but I’ve lived in China for more than half my life. I don’t want to brag, but my mandarin has gotten proficient over the past decade or so.”
Proficient? It’s amazing. You thought. This first day was turning out better than you thought. Other than the weird feeling you received from Manager Kim, everything was turning out splendid. A potential friend and a manager that could speak your first language.
“Since it’s about noon right now,” Manager Kim took a look at his watch, “What do you all think about some lunch?”
The other managers nod their heads in agreement and gestures for you and Na-eun to follow them out of the waiting room you were in for so long.
The whole building seemed so clean. With every corner lit, by natural light or artificial light, you could clearly see that every room, every piece of furniture and decor had been purposefully placed. You couldn’t help but have a stupid look of awe plastered on your face as you mindlessly follow your superiors over to the cafeteria.
You turned your head over to Na-eun and gave her a tilt of the eyebrow, silently saying wow, this is where we work.
With the turn of a corner and several silent strides, your little group made it to the cafeteria.
The difference between your claustrophobic waiting room and this vast room was astonishing. With countless tables and romantic yellow lighting, this place almost resembled a five star restaurant. You’ve never seen a cafeteria as extravagant and clean as this before. However, to be fair, you’ve never had the experience of working with such a large corporation before.
The managers led you to the serving station where you grabbed yourself a tray and proceeded to spoon small portions of rice and side dishes onto your plate. This cuisine was different to what you were used to, but nonetheless looked delicious. You were prepared for the small cultural differences, especially with the food, but from everything you’ve witnessed so far, the culture shock would be easier to overcome than what you’ve anticipated.
“Have this soup y/n,” Manager Kim’s grating voice came from in front of you, interrupting your inner monologue. “It’s good for your complexion.”
As Manager Kim hands over the bowl of soup, you feel the sleeve of his blazer brush up against your shoulder, causing the pit of your stomach to drop.
First day nerves. That was what this feeling was. You thought.
You quietly thanked him with a small nod and walked briskly from the service line, trying to find where Na-eun went with the other two managers. Thankfully, they were just a step away and you quickly made your way over to the comfortable spot beside Na-eun. She gave you a small grin and you both followed your way to a table right in the middle of the room.
Soon, all five chairs of the table got filled and sounds of chopsticks tapping and scraping against plates and bowls filled your ears. An awkward silence dominates your table as you start to pick at your food.
“So,” Manager Chen cleared her throat, “after lunch I was thinking we should go to a meeting room and discuss Miss. Y/n’s role in our new project.”
“I was thinking the same for our new Intern Choi.” Manager An cut in, “What do you think, Manager Kim?”
“It all sounds good. I will be accompanying Manager Chen to her meeting room as I wish to also further discuss the preliminary steps for our project.” Manager Kim looked from Manager Chen over to you.
“Project?” You ask.
“We’ve had a very successful year with our idol groups and we wanted to ride this success and start marketing in China. Recently, we’ve noticed a very large and growing Chinese audience for this group. I’m sure you’re very curious now, however we can discuss further details once we are in the meeting room.” Manager Chen replies while taking a sip of the water in her glass.
Manager Chen appeared to be a very professional and respectable woman. With prominent collarbones and wide shoulders, she easily looked the part of a confident and adored manager. She needed minimal makeup to highlight her tall cheekbones, and even with a short heel on her feet she seemed to tower over you. However, her warm and comforting voice was what broke her intimidating demeanour. Just listening to her voice felt like you were back in your high school classroom with your favourite teacher explaining the motif of a sad love poem.
After some more awkward conversations mixed with a few work discussions, the five of you finished the delicious food on your trays.
“Please excuse me whilst I head to the restroom” Na-eun spoke up after your group finished clearing the table.
“Please excuse me as well.” You quickly followed, bowing as you both ventured off to the washrooms.
I should get her number so I’m not completely a loner in this place, you thought to yourself. And so, after a quick inner struggle to speak up, you finally decided to ask.
“Hey, should we exchange contacts? I don’t wanna look like the newbie eating in the cafeteria alone after today.” You chuckled.
“Totally!” Na-eun beamed. “I was actually thinking the same thing…”
And so, you both quickly exchanged each other's contact as you made your way to the restrooms.
The hall of the washrooms were narrow, hidden away from the main cafeteria. You walked in, deciding you only wanted to retouch your hair and makeup before your first official meeting. You carefully fix the loose hairs that somehow escaped the confines of your elastic and dab on a fresh layer of foundation before applying your lipstick which rubbed off while eating. Looking over at Na-eun, you see she’s quite in the zone redoing her mascara.
“Hey, I’ll just wait for you in the hall.” You said.
Na-eun gave you a disinterested nod back as she kept focusing on her mascara.
You walked to the end of the hall, leaned against the wall, and pulled out your phone. Smiling, you opened the virtual Tamagotchi app and saw your little friend staring back at you, bouncing up and down. The bundle of virtual pixels happily bounced as you fed and bathed it, making you happier in return. Playing this game, you were so entranced with your phone that the abrupt closing of the washroom doors broke you out of your hypnosis fast, causing you to flinch and drop your phone.
You looked up, only to see a brown haired man wearing a long sleeved black shirt. The hem of his sleeve fell, covering his hand as he bent down to pick up your phone. He stood back up, fully facing you now and you immediately recognized who he was. You weren’t a fool, of course you did all your research on the artists of JYPE before applying for the job. Looking down at you right now, holding your phone in his hand, was Bang Chan of Stray Kids.
The wispy tufts of his brown hair bounced over his forehead as he stepped over to you. He smiled, his dimple poking out of his cheek, and handed your phone back to you. “I think you dropped this.”
Blushing tomato red, you embarrassingly accepted the phone, trying not to make your shaking hands noticeable. It seemed like that failed, however, as you noticed him glance at your hands and dimple grow deeper.
“Thank you.” You meekly chirped and lowered your head, still in awe that you somehow bumped into a JYPE idol in the bathroom hallway of a cafeteria.
“It’s good that there’s no cracks.” Bang Chan said, looking in your eyes.
You looked back into his eyes. His smile never left his face, and you physically felt the warmth radiating off his body like rays from the sun. Some boring, objective part of your brain knew this interaction only lasted a fraction of a second, but you swore that time froze.
“Hyung!” A distant voice called.
Your trance was broken as Bang Chan looked over to the person calling his name. He turned back to you, politely bowed, and casually sauntered over to the man who called him.
What just happened? Your inner monologue ran, still trying to process the embarrassing interaction. The scent of his cologne lingered, swirling the atmosphere around your body.
Thankfully, you didn’t have too much time to dwell on this interaction as Na-eun finally opened the washroom doors and was making her way toward you.
You and Na-eun trailed behind the managers until you reached the set of elevators. It was there where you had to unfortunately separate from your comfort work buddy as she hopped in the elevator across from yours with Manager An. The other two managers led you to the elevator at the end and pressed the button for your destination floor. The ride in the elevator was silent. You stood there, fiddling with your nails.
Once the elevator gave the ding of arrival, the three of you headed down a hall where you presumed had the meeting room.
Manager Kim took a look at the watch on his wrist. “We are a minute late, everybody should be there already. Enter silently and respectfully.” He said in a stern voice.
You reached the frosted glass door of the meeting room and entered through the already opened door. The managers followed behind you with Manager Chen being the last one in and closing the door.
Your eyes widened at whom you saw.
There was Bang Chan, who sat in all his glory, staring right into your eyes with his mouth ajar. His shocked expression didn't last long, however, as he quickly composed himself to fit with the professional atmosphere of this room.
But why was he here? You thought. He’s an artist, isn’t this a management meeting?
Your inner monologue was broken by Manager Kim’s stern voice. “Y/n, why don’t you sit with me for today?” He asked with a slight tilt of the lips. His hand was hovering above your back, almost guiding you to the seat just right of the head chair.
Your heart rate quickened. There was no way that you could handle sitting right beside a high position manager on your first day. You barely knew what your duties entailed, you definitely could not handle the pressure of this seat today. You whipped your head around to look for Manager Chen. She was already sitting in her seat, looking like she was right at home.
“Manager Kim, if you don’t mind, I would like to sit in this position for today, '' a voice spoke up, “I have a lot of new ideas I’d like to share that are written in my notes.”
Bang Chan.
He paused a brief second, eyes switching between you and Manager Kim, and raised his iPad to show the screen filled with words.
“I don’t mind at all, go ahead.” Manager Kim monotonously replied. He then made his way to the head chair.
You looked over at Bang Chan, trying to subtly send the most grateful facial expression over to him. He returned your look, slightly grinning as his fingers tapped on the screen of his iPad and sat down to the right of Manager Kim. You looked over to see Manager Chen gesturing you to sit in the chair beside her and swiftly made your way over. At your seat, she handed you a notepad and pen, both adorned with the JYPE logo.
“Now, as of 1:02 p.m., September first, the meeting will officially begin.” Manager Kim clasped his hands together on top of the table. “As most of you already know, we are in the preliminary stages of planning a Chinese debut for our artist group ‘Stray Kids’. All we have right now is the estimated timeline, which is four months. We have a basic grasp of the concept we are working towards, however, as you all know, trends are always changing and growing. While we are working to create a new and original concept for Stray Kids, we also want the concept to gather as much audience reception as possible.”
Wow. That was a lot to take in. Your hands struggled to keep up with writing down what Manager Kim was saying. You knew this relatively new group was really starting to explode in the past year, but a debut in another country? This group must work really hard to even have the company consider a step as risky as this. So this is why Bang Chan is also involved in this meeting.
You peaked your head up from your notepad. Bang Chan sat across from you, one hand on his chin and the other one holding the pen to his tablet.
Manager Kim then carefully discussed the duties that each group in the room would take. Many of the jobs were directly involved with developing the concept itself, such as producing music, concept art, and theme development. Your pen never took a break from gliding on the notepad as you hurriedly jotted down everything that Manager Kim said.
Eventually, Manager Kim’s delegations moved to Manager Chen. “Manager Chen, I’ll let you take over from here.”
“Thank you Manager Kim,” Manager Chen cleared her throat. “While my main job here was to market Korean comebacks towards the Chinese audience, this new project changes things up a bit. Now, not only will I be in charge of marketing to the Chinese audience, but I will also be directly in charge of the concept itself. I will be working carefully with our team in China to monitor the trends which we can incorporate into our debut.
“This is my new assistant, y/n,” She turned and gestured to you. You politely nodded your head. “She will be gathering information on useful trends and reporting back to me, as well as some translating. Please report any ideas that you deem useful to her by the end of every week for her to sort through and deliver to me.”
You almost want to call Manager Chen crazy for giving you so much power, after all, you were only starting out as her assistant. Despite this, however, you were determined to go above and beyond with the new responsibilities given to you, after all, you knew that choosing to work in an organization as big as JYPE would take blood, sweat, and tears.
After some clarifications given by Manager Chen and a few more questions directed at her, Manager Kim took the reins back in his hands.
“Now, as I’m sure you all know, this is Bang Chan: the leader of Stray Kids. Although our management team is in charge of this debut, we like to include the opinions of artists whenever possible. He will make an appearance whenever he can and act as a representative of Stray Kids, sharing their ideas and opinions.” Manager Kim explained.
Bang Chan politely introduced himself, and quickly went on to express some concerns of his members. He made sure that each concern was answered thoroughly by Manager Kim before moving on to the next.
“As for our concept ideas,” Bang Chan’s soft brown eyes met yours, “will I have to report to y/n?”
You felt your ears redden.
“You could, yes,” Manager Kim straightened his back, “but if you find the weekly deadlines too much of a problem, you may just report to me or at any subsequent meeting.”
“No worries sir,” Bang Chan’s eyes lingered on yours for a fraction of a second more before grinning at Manager Kim, “I’m always punctual.”
The rest of the meeting consisted of more introductions and preliminary plans. After about an hour, everybody seemed satisfied with the contents of the meeting and were starting to pack up all their clutter on the table. You looked over at Manager Chen, silently asking what should I do next?
Manager Chen smiled. “Let's head to my floor. I can give you a quick tour, you can get settled at your desk. I have some paperwork that I’m almost done with; I’m sure you’ll have no problem finishing it for me.” She already was standing up and straightening over the creases of her jacket.
You stood up as well and followed behind Manager Chen like a lost baby duckling. You both made your way over to Manager Kim to bid farewell. You politely thanked him, said your goodbyes, and were about to leave when he stopped the two of you.
“Manager Chen, let’s go out for drinks tonight.” Manager Kim took a look at the intricate watch on his wrist. “With our whole team, of course. It’ll be a welcoming night and we can get to know the people on our team better.”
“That’s a great idea, Manager Kim,” Manager Chen nodded at his idea in approval. She turned on her iPad to quickly get a glimpse at her schedule. “What do you think y/n? Can you make it tonight? I know this is very last moment, but I think it’ll be a great opportunity for you to get to know your coworkers better.”
“I should be able to make it.” You definitely could make it. You had no plans anyways.
“Am I invited to this top secret party you’re all having?” A now very distinguishable voice came from behind you. Bang Chan stared at Manager Kim with a very mischievous expression.
“Would your manager allow it?” Manager Kim questioned, knitting his eyebrows.
“I’m on a diet, so I can’t drink alcohol or eat anything,” Bang Chan’s nose scrunched up in annoyance, “but I want to be as involved as I can. Just because I’m an idol doesn’t mean I can’t help behind the scenes as well.”
“Very well,” Manager Kim nodded with a fixed expression, “Let’s all meet at that restaurant about a block away west. I’ll go tell the others.” And with that, Manager Kim left you, Manager Chen, and Bang Chan to stand in awkward silence.
“Well,” Bang Chan cleared his throat and clapped his hands together, “I’ll get going as well to do some work now, but it was nice meeting the both of you.”
“You as well.” Manager Chen replied for the both of you and Bang Chan left soon after.
Manager Chen then led you to the elevators again and you headed up yet another few floors to reach your destination. You nervously fiddled with your hair as you silently waited behind your boss, looking up at the smooth lines of her blazer every few seconds. The elevator doors dinged, letting you know of its arrival. The two of you swiftly headed out the elevators and walked to what you presumed was Manager Chen’s office area. You kept following behind Manager Chen in silence before you stopped in front of a set of doors that looked identical to the ones at the previous meeting room. Manager Chen opened the doors for you, and you headed in.
You paused a step in, looking wide-eyed at the interior. The office was clean. A big glass desk sat right in the middle of the vast room in front of a huge set of windows. There were a couple of soft looking chairs placed right before the desk with a huge rug right underneath it. Over to your left, you spotted a water dispenser with a kettle right beside it. You stared at the room a bit longer before realizing you must have looked very stupid with that astonished look on your face.
“Is this your office, Manager Chen?” You asked.
“Yes. It seems that you like it,” She chuckled. You felt the heat rise to your ears.
“Since you’ll be working so close to me, I’m sure you’ll be happy to come here more often.”
“Thanks.” You awkwardly laughed. You blamed your bad response on the fact that you still weren’t familiar with the language, not your blatant awkwardness.
Manager Chen made her way over to her desk, picking up a small stack of papers. “These are some letters I’ve received from several designer companies in China. Since we are still in the very preliminary stages of this project, we would like to keep our options open for the stylists here.” She picks an annotated letter from the pile. “I’ve translated and created a summary of the main points of this letter. There are a few more left which I believe I can trust you with. Just do as I did with this letter and add the sample pictures along with it.”
You quickly complied, taking the stack of papers from her hands.
“I’ll show you to your new work space.” She led you out of your office and over to a cubicle that wasn’t too far away. It was considerably smaller compared to Manager Chen’s office, but you thought it had a certain coziness to it. Plus, working close to your coworkers could also boost your motivation. “Here is your desk, it’s not the most exciting thing, but you may bring photos or whatnot to decorate it. Now, I’ll let you settle in and get started on your work. You can meet me at my office around six, I can double check your work before we leave.”
You thanked her before she left and immediately got started on your work. You diligently translated the whole of the letters before picking out the main points that matched with Manager Chen’s example. After this was done, you included the photos that came with each letter and slipped them into their own cozy folder. This work was monotonous, sure, but it was something you needed on your hectic first day here.
You were so captivated by your work that you completely forgot about the time. The sun was starting to set, and you only remembered to look at the time after you tucked your last letter neatly in its folder. You briefly panicked, praying that you weren’t making your manager wait. Thankfully, it was only a quarter until six. You took the next fifteen minutes double checking your work, making sure to also check the time every once in a while. At exactly six, you left your desk and scurried over to the big doors of Manager Chen’s office.
Knocking a couple times, you waited patiently to be let in.
“Come in.”
You let yourself in, handing the papers to your manager, then sat quietly in one of the chairs before her desk, crossing your fingers together. You fiddled with your thumbs, patiently waiting for Manager Chen to speak up.
“Not bad, this is some decent work.” Manager Chen announced as soon as she finished glossing over your work. “I’ve noted some places that you can either fix or improve. I’ll scan them and hand you a copy tomorrow.”
You let out a breath that you didn’t know you were holding. A tidal wave of relief washed over you as you let yourself relax further into your chain. Not bad, this is some decent work. You proudly repeated this moment in your brain. Although you were disappointed with the mistakes that you let slip through, to get somewhat of a compliment on your first day meant a lot to you.
“Shall we get going now?” Manager Chen asked.
You grabbed your bag and stood up. “I’ll let you lead the way.”
_______
It seemed like all you were doing on your first day was following Manager Chen around like a lost puppy. The situation right now was no exception either, as you tried to copy her confident strides over to the restaurant a block down. You watched the busy rush hour streets and sidewalks fill with people, some people going home after a long day, some people going to party just like you.
Soon, after a few more minutes of walking, the both of you arrived at the small wooden doors of the restaurants. It seemed like the both of you were a bit late as Manager Kim was already waiting in front of the entrance with the rest of the team. Bang Chan was also there, head down looking at his phone.
“Sorry we’re late, have you been waiting for long?” Manager Chen somehow sounded confident despite making everybody wait on her.
Her voice seemed to have caught everybody’s attention. You watched as Bang Chan swiftly turned his head up from his phone, his eyes making contact with yours. You immediately focused your eyes somewhere else, trying to casually play off the fact that your eyes subconsciously drifted to him.
“We’ve only been waiting for a couple minutes.” Manager Kim gave a tight smile. “Let’s go in before you all get too cold.”
Your little group of around ten people slowly entered the doors, filling the restaurant. Manager Kim called over a waitress, signaling that you had ten people in your group, and let the waitress lead you all to a long wooden table.
The restaurant was nice, nothing too fancy, but that’s how you could tell the food was good. With dim lighting and tightly packed tables, it made you feel fuzzy and warm on the inside.
However, your thoughts on the restaurant were soon broken by a hand on your shoulder.
“Y/n, why don’t you sit with me?” Manager Kim’s lips curled up, “After all, this is a work gathering, how good of a boss would I be if I didn’t even treat my newest team member to a drink?”
Your brain was in shambles. You seriously didn’t feel comfortable sitting with him all night. However, the logical side of your brain was saying something different. He’s just being nice as a boss. You don’t know how people in this country act anyways, stop being paranoid.
It seemed like your inner turmoil was taking longer than necessary, as you heard another familiar voice speak up.
“Manager Kim-” Bang Chan called out.
“You don’t need to sit with me here, Bang Chan.” Manager Kim chuckled as he stared directly in Bang Chan’s eyes. “I’d rather not talk about work outside the office.”
You watched as Bang Chan’s eyebrows furrowed, looking back to you in reluctance. You smiled at him before turning your attention to Manager Kim. It was just one night, right? Plus, there’s no harm in establishing a good impression with your boss.
“I’ll sit with you, Manager Kim.” You smiled, “thanks for offering.”
And so, you took your seat next to Manager Kim at the table. Bang Chan, who was to your left, looked askance at Manager Kim for a brief second before his facial expression did a complete 180. His familiar, boy-ish smile was plastered on his face like it was the most natural thing.
When the menus came, everybody at the table — including you — started to order onslaughts of food and alcohol. After brief moments of casual chatter about topics such as the weather or how good the food was here, everything that was ordered arrived at your table.
You grabbed a can of beer and started sipping on it. You’ve drank before — of course — with your old friends at university, but it’s been at least a year since you last did. Better ease myself in. You thought.
However, your preconceived plans were ruined when a small glass of clear liquor got pushed in front of you.
“Y/n, surely you aren’t going to sip on that can all night.” The ends of Manager Kim’s lips curled up.
“Wasn’t planning to, sir.” You replied while tipping the glass up and into your mouth. The bitter liquid burned your throat as it went down. You took a moment to recollect your surroundings. Seems like your tolerance was higher than you thought.
“Bang Chan, do you not drink? Why not eat something then?” Manager Chen pointed to the food on the table.
“No can do ma’am, I’m on a strict diet. My manager would kill me.” Bang Chan pointed to his glass of water.
“In that case,” Manager Chen filled another glass, “Y/n, have another drink.” She slid the glass down the table in front of you.
You gladly accepted your second drink, downing the alcohol in one go. Your eyes instinctively squeezed together as you felt your throat burn. From the tips of your ears to the ends of your toes, your whole body felt warm and alive.
You lost track of the time. As your conversations got livelier, your head got fuzzier. You stopped counting your drinks after four, especially since so many people were eager to offer the new employee a drink. Although your vision was starting to blur, you could still think straight. I can still think, you thought to yourself, still — what a powerful buzz.
Your thoughts ran rampant in your mind as you stared at the lightbulb across the room. What a pretty light. So bright. Warm.
“Y/n.”
Was the light calling your name?
“Y/n!”
Your eyes focused again and snapped away from the lightbulb. Where was the voice coming from? You slowly turned your head. Bang Chan.
“Hi.” You smiled.
“Hi.” He smiled back. So bright. Warm. “It’s been hours and I haven’t even offered you a drink yet.”
You tried to focus your eyes on his face as he slid the glass over to you. One more drink wouldn’t hurt your buzz, right?
You gladly accepted, slowly moving your hand over to the glass to pick the clear liquid up. It went down in one go just like all the others.
Huh? Was this water?
You struggled to focus your eyes on the person who offered you the drink. “That was yummy.”
“I bet it was,” the talking blur chuckled, “How about another one?”
You nodded, then took the glass he slid towards you. It’s funny how water flows even when in a cup. Water. You needed to pee.
“Hey,” your words dragged out, “where’s uh, where’s the washroom?”
“Follow me. I’ll show you.” Manager Kim stood up and reached his hand out towards you. You didn’t want to take it, but it seemed like nobody was noticing his offer.
Reluctantly, you took his hand and stood up, only to stumble down again. Did your knees not want to listen?
“Whoa there, better hold on.” Manager Kim said.
“No, I can walk. I-I can walk.” You let go of Manager Kim and tried to focus all your brainpower on moving your feet in a straight line. This tactic only worked for a second, however, as your knees gave in and you stumbled down.
“It’s obvious that you can’t.” Manager Kim’s lips turned up. “It’s time for you to go home. I’ll take you back.”
What? No. You didn’t want Manager Kim to take you home, not after all the awkward events of today and the general vibe from him. You tried to express your thoughts, but nothing came out of your mouth.
“Manager Kim, you’ve been drinking!” Bang Chan’s voice came from some part of the room. “It’s not safe to drive, I’ll call a taxi for you.”
“What about Y/n here? I’ll get a taxi for us both.” Manager Kim said.
“I called my manager earlier to pick me up, we can drop her off along the way. It’s not a good idea to put two drunk people in a car. I’m completely sober right now, so let me do all the work.” Bang Chan grinned, patting Manager Kim on his shoulder.
“Is that what you want, Y/n?” Manager Kim glared.
You dizzily nodded.
“Alright. In that case, I can call my own taxi later.” Manager Kim grimaced.
“Stay safe, Manager Kim.” Bang Chan smiled. He turned to you. “My manager’s been waiting outside for a while now, do you want to leave now?”
You nodded. You tried to start walking again, but your damn knees just wouldn’t listen.
“Do you want to hold on to me?” Bang Chan knitted his brows together and held out an arm.
“I,” you slurred, “can walk.” You tried to start your feet again, only to end up stumbling down.
“I know you can,” Bang Chan said as he reached his hands out to stabilize you, “but — ah — I’m really tired after today. Can you hold on to my arm so I won’t fall out of exhaustion?”
You agreed to help him. Bang Chan waved to everybody still at the table before leading the two of you out to a black SUV. He allowed you to stumble your way in the back seats first before sliding in himself. He asked you for your address, which took many tries for you to accurately type it into his phone.
You leaned your head against the window, staring at passing blurred lights as Bang Chan’s manager started driving. Just being away from the loud and bright environment seemed to have cleared your head a little, but the pounding would not stop. You cursed yourself for being so irresponsible on your first day, especially because you were still alone in this new country.
“Hey,” you felt a gentle tap on your shoulder, “want some water?” You looked over to see Bang Chan holding out a plastic bottle with the lid screwed off.
You languidly reached your hand out for the bottle and gulped down as much water as you could in one breath before handing it back to him. The street lights started getting blurrier as you tried to fight exhaustion, the muscles in your eyelids starting to get more and more uncontrollable.
“Y/n.”
“Hmm?”
“Don’t fall asleep yet, we’re almost there. Ten more minutes.”
You couldn’t hear anything after that, however, as you felt your eyes give up on you and your body fall into a deep sleep.
“Y/n… Y/n.” A familiar voice called.
You fluttered your eyes open, your head pounding. Not knowing where you were, you surveyed your surroundings in a panic. It seemed as though you were in the back of a car… Parked outside of your apartment building?
“Hey, you’re finally awake.” Bang Chan’s voice entered your ear. It all came rushing back to you; the restaurant, the drinking, entering the SUV.
“How long have we been parked here?” Your groggy voice sounded inhuman. You had to clear your throat a couple times.
“It’s only been twenty or so minutes. I’m not allowed to leave the car, are you able to get home alone? I can ask my manager to go with you.” Bang Chan scratched the back of his neck.
“I should be fine.” You mumbled, a bit embarrassed to have fallen asleep in the car of a person you just met that day. This wasn’t even his car, it was his manager’s.
“Hey… can I put my number in your phone?” Bang Chan avoided your eyes. “Just so you can tell me when you get home.” He quickly added.
“Okay.” You awkwardly handed him your phone with your contacts already opened. He quickly typed his phone number in before handing it back to you.
“Text me when you get home. Remember to lock your door, okay?”
You thank both him and his manager before hurrying back to your apartment. Your head was still pounding unrelentlessly as you pressed the elevator button for your floor. The events of today were still unprocessed in your brain. You met a potential friend, which was a highlight. However, you also met two higher up managers and an actual idol, only to get hilariously drunk in the presence of. At least it’ll make a good story to tell my mom. You thought.
In no time, you made it in your apartment and locked the door behind you, remembering what Bang Chan told you in the car. You texted the new number in your phone.
Y/n: Hi. It’s y/n. I just entered my apartment.
Not even a minute later, your phone lit up, signaling a new text message.
Bang Chan: great!! remember to lock the doooor hahaha ( ◕ω◕✿ )
You subconsciously grin at your phone. Cute. Throwing your phone haphazardly on your bed, you begrudgingly began your night routine. After washing up and throwing on a random shirt from your closet, you fell on your bed ready to sleep. You were about to close your eyes when your phone lit up again with a ding. It was another text.
Bang Chan: Hey… Just so you know, if you ever feel unsafe around the office just tell me okay? I’ll always try to help you in whatever way I can.

Ah!~ I fall in love with your Takao headcanons! Can I ask headcanons about Takao from best friends to lovers?
A/N: But OF COURSE, you can, the more Takao you guys want, the better for me! ( ᐛ )و
So this will be a continuation from his best friends headcanons I made a while back and for those who’d like to see a spicier version of the more or less same troupe, I linked a similar request I got below! Hope you’ll enjoy this! ❤️
Tags: Takao x reader ✅ fluff ✅ friends to lovers ✅ slight angst ✅
☞ 𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕥 𝟙 ☞ 𝕤𝕡𝕚𝕔𝕪 𝕧𝕖𝕣.
━━━━☆ ━━━━☆ ━━━━☆
living with your best friend didn’t change your relationship as much as you thought it would
the two of you were still clinging to each other like leeches, supporting the other during hard times and in general providing a shoulder to cry and lean on when needed
now that you were roommates and not only neighbors you saw Takao every single day and that came with many advantages
you both shared the housework and came up with cooking/cleaning/laundry schedules that made your joint life so much easier
Takao had decided to start working after graduation while you continued your studies (and occasionally worked at a part-time job close to your apartment)
it heavily depended on your individual schedule, but in general, the two of you had agreed that the first one home should be the one to prepare dinner and help the other one out a little
usually, Takao would be the first one home and every time you came back he greeted you like some kind of butler, helping you out of your jacket, taking your bag, leading you to the kitchen where he showed you that evening’s dinner, and lastly he’d conclude his small tour at the bathroom where he had run a bath for you
both of you were so close that all of your neighbors (especially the older ones) continuously teased you, saying what kind of cute couple the two of you were and some even went as far as to ask when you’re wedding was going to be
in the beginning, your and Takao’s cheeks would flush ever so slightly but the longer you lived there the more used to it you got, and in the end, it even reached a stage where you’d counter their remarks with your own witty and comical ones
comments such as theirs didn’t bother you that much, or at least that’s what you thought ...
a couple of months after moving in you invited some members of Shuutoku’s basketball team over for a friendly get-together and a warm dinner
it had been a lot of fun
people were teased, embarrassing situations were denounced as hilarious, compliments fell left and right, and what not
at some point though Miyaji - the club’s former captain - raised the question of whether Takao and you had finally started a romantic relationship
it was just a well-meant question and perhaps a subtle hint and yet your best friend began to deny that so strongly that you couldn’t help but feel aggrieved from his over-exaggerated reaction
the evening was kinda ruined for you and some of them noticed it and felt bad for you
in the end, Miyaji actually came up to you and apologized, saying just how much he’d regretted asking you something that was seemingly a taboo-topic
since then the relationship between your best friend and yourself was quite shaky, you began avoiding too much body contact with him, tuned down your clinginess, and even started avoiding him at times
some people think that Takao isn’t the brightest and assume that he’s quite dense, but you knew better
it didn’t take him even a week to notice that something was wrong with you and before you knew it he waited for you to come back home and asked you to take a seat across from him on the couch
“(Y/N)-chan...I’m aware that something’s been bothering you for the past few days and I know that some topics are better left unsaid, but I really hate seeing you suffer because of maybe something I did.”
his words stabbed your heart like hundred knives and even if you’d planned to keep your hurt pride to yourself, you knew that communication was key in any kind of relationship so with a bitter smile you told him about everything, how his reaction had hurt you more than his captain’s harmless question and how these new and yet unknown thoughts had begun to cloud your mind with masses of doubts
there was a brief break during which Takao’s expression grew unbelievably sad, he had expected anything but this
and then finally after what felt like hours he whispered out your name, got up from his chair, and slowly walked towards you, kneeling in front of your seated figure
“I’m truly sorry...I-I wasn’t aware of how much this actually bothered you,” he paused as he took your hands into his own and continued, “all I wanted was to make Miyagi drop that theme fast since he’s the type to talk about one topic for hours and I really didn’t want to make you uncomfortable since that evening was meant for recollecting and updating each other about our daily lives and not a relationship counseling...”
with a sigh you shook your head and couldn’t help but laugh at just how ridiculous this situation was, Takao joined you not long after
after that small misunderstanding, you two needed a bit until your relationship had normalized, but you’d be lying if you said that everything was back to how it used to be
once the imagination of Takao as your boyfriend had entered your mind you began to realize just how close the two of you truly were
him tending to your needs every time you came back home late, resembled that of a worried father-to-be whose wife was to go into labor soon
the way he always jokingly offered himself as your dinner was a cliché joke and sometimes an invitation one would often see in romance series that once again fell between lovers
and the worst for your heart was how the word ‘personal space’ wasn’t even present in his vocabulary, he’d hug you whenever he could, lean himself on your back and leave his chin in the crack of your neck at every given opportunity, and let’s not mention whenever he had trouble falling asleep (which was basically almost every day)
all those small and seemingly irrelevant gestures which didn’t usually affect you were now the trigger for a deep-red blush along your cheeks and an increased heart rate
and it didn’t help that Takao would constantly tease you whenever he noticed your flushed face
.
as time went by though you noticed that something between you two had indeed changed
now his mere presence was enough to make your heart thump wildly against your chest
the only comfort you found was that he himself had started blushing more often as well
you thought that nothing of deeper meaning was behind it and just blamed it on your behavior, but what you didn’t know was that Takao was experiencing the same thing as you
for him, it was as if every single touch - no matter how featherlight it was - set his skin on fire
every ever so small and gentle smile or grin you directed his way, immediately brightened up his mood
and let’s not even talk about the small things you do for him, like cooking, preparing some late-night snacks for whenever he has to work on a project until very late in the evening, folding his laundry, ironing his shirts, and so on...
both of you were slowly starting to acknowledge the other as an essential part of your respective lives
on top of that, innocent and sweet thoughts such as kissing each other on the lips, taking a bath together, or just doing silly things such as hiding from the people outside so that you can feel each other’s lips began dominating your minds
and what choice did the two of you have but to bottle these feelings up and hide them from each other just because you didn’t want to ruin your friendship
it was painful of course, but you continued to put yourself through with it, determined to keep this a secret for as long as necessary
unfortunately, Takao wasn’t made out of the same cloth and was slowly but surely feeling how everything was about to explode pretty soon
and then finally one day when the two of you went out shopping together some of your elderly neighbors stopped you yet again and began interrogating you guys as usual
“Have you two dears finally admitted your feelings for each other?”
there it was, their favorite question, that was strangely accurate this time
you were ready to debunk it yet again, but Takao suddenly took a hold of your hand, squeezed it slightly, and announced: “Not yet, but I’m about to!”
three pairs of wide eyes were fixated on the slightly blushing young man who stood beside you and while you were still trying to decipher whether you’d heard him right he faced you and even took a gentle hold of your second hand
“(Y/N)...I feel like this should’ve happened sooner, but my fear of losing you as my constant pillar of support was too big. Your presence was always something extremely helpful and soothing, but as of late I started to truly notice just how much more it was for me and my life. The sheer imagination of me being without you hurt me more than any game my team lost, any missed promotion chance or anything negative for that matter,” he paused and took a deep breath before continuing, “what I’m trying to say is that...(Y/N), I’d like you to become my lover.”
silent gasps could be heard, but you were too overwhelmed to pay any attention to it
the fact that he’d felt the same way and was stuck in the same situation as you were truly unbelievable, but now that you knew it all those small things you’d denounced as an effect of your own unusual behavior made sense
you looked up into the slate blue eyes of the man you’d fallen for and slowly removed your hands from his tight grip, only to then wrap your arms around his neck and bring him closer to you
Takao immediately seized the opportunity to do the same, he was anxious about what you were about to say so he at least wanted to savor what might be his very last embrace from you
“Took us long enough now didn’t it?” was all you said before you confidently took a hold of his cheeks and brought his face closer to your lips until they touched
while you two kissed ever so passionately and drowned in the liberating feeling of mutual love, the two older women next to you smiled while commenting on how they’d always known and how bad you two were hiding it
after you’d finally separated from each other you gave him your obvious answer to which he simply giggled and out of happiness began cuddling and kissing your face all over
this was truly a wonderful moment, it might not affect your relationship all too much but it was nonetheless a step towards a new and yet unknown experience that the two of you would live through while constantly supporting each other ...

The Sommelier (Hannigram x Female!Reader) pt. 10
Y/n and Will connect over a story. They put their heads together and come up with some ideas on where to find Chase.
Trigger warnings: sex trafficking, discussions of toxic relationships, codependency
This chaper also contains spoilers for the story Borrasca by CK Walker so if you haven't already read/listened to it and you want to, save this chapter for later.
Charissa was far deeper into astrology than anyone else you knew. No matter how many times she tried to explain it to you, you could never keep all the vocabulary straight. As much as you liked to indulge her pseudo-spiritual special interest, you never considered yourself a believer.
That was, until you met Will Graham.
One metaphysical concept was suddenly crystal clear to you; that of the twin flames. At first, you thought it was just a slightly dressier version of soulmates. But soulmates had to be complimentary, not identical. If you jumbled the pieces of your respective broken souls, you’d find that they fit together in a way in which you couldn’t determine where he ended and you began.
Charissa had warned you of the dangers of a twin flame romance. Both parties had to be mentally and emotionally literate, or else they could develop a toxic codependent relationship. Considering that neither you nor Will were the picture of mental health, you had to tread lightly. Having sex with him was probably just throwing gasoline on the dumpster fire your life was quickly becoming, but an extinguisher was within arm’s reach. You told yourself that if you just held on a little longer, this could be the start of something wonderful.
However, while pondering all this, you left out the crucial detail that you and Will’s shared self-destructive tendencies didn’t extend to how you treated other people. You were both very nurturing and consistently placed the needs of others over your own. And this dawned on you when you emerged from the bathroom, freshly showered and greeted with the smell of food.
“Is that my shirt?” Will asked, peering over his glasses at you.
“Oh, yeah.” You tugged at the oversized undershirt he’d slept in the evening prior, which you had snatched from the floor while he was in the shower. “I figured that the dogs would be less intimidated with a stranger in the house if I smelled like you.”
Will narrowed his eyes, his suspicion eclipsed by a smile. “Sure.”
You sniffed the air. “What are you making?”
“Reubens.” He lifted the pan slightly to show you two ugly but delicious-smelling sandwiches.
“At eight in the morning?” You laughed, shoving your hands into your pockets.
“Do you not want one?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Oh, I want one.” You put your hands up in surrender.
Will flipped a sandwich over and it sizzled against the hot pan. “By the way, Jack called. He wants to see both of us at the lab today, given that you’re up for it.”
“Sure.” You leaned over the counter. “What about?”
“He wants me to examine the body of the cultist.” He explained. “Thinks maybe you can help. He also wants you to give an official statement. Apparently the national news is starting to pick up on this story.”
“I won’t have to appear on TV or anything, will I?” You asked. “That would kind of defeat the purpose of me hiding out here.”
Will slid one of the sandwiches onto a plate. “I don’t think so. He just wants you to tell the record what you know so local police forces know what to look for and so CNN has something to report on.”
“That’s fair enough, I suppose.” You took a seat at the counter, your mouth watering from the smell.
“So you know how Kimber and Kyle are siblings?” Will said, placing his plate next to yours.
You froze and put your sandwich back on the plate. “I know that, how do you know that?”
Will paused and looked away, shamefully. "I couldn't sleep last night."
"So you listened to the entire story?" Your eyes widened in shock. "The entire, seven-hour-long story?"
"I wanted to know why," Will pulled his chair closer to the counter. "Out of all the literature in the world, last night made you think of Borrasca. So I listened to it."
You took a bite of your sandwich and wiped your face with the back of your hand. "I think it was just because it has to do with sex trafficking."
"But it wasn't sex trafficking until Sheriff Walker took over, was it?" Will said. "Or at least, not according to Jimmy Prescott."
"Shit, you did listen to the whole story." You said through a mouthful of sandwich. You swallowed.
"I think there's something else there." Will hypothesized. "There's something we can take from the story that could lead us to Mulvaney, just like with NXIVM and Handmaid's Tale."
“Okay, but,” You began. “She pretty explicitly referenced both NXIVM and Handmaid’s Tale. I brought up Borrasca on my own.”
“But you did it for a reason.” Will insisted. “Just humor me, please.”
You shrugged. “You’re the professional here. By all means, follow whatever path this story takes you down if you think it’s going to get Mulvaney behind bars.”
Will nodded and reached for a pad of paper. He drew a three circle Venn diagram and assigned a story to each circle. “What do NXIVM, Handmaid’s Tale and Borrasca all have in common?”
“Sex trafficking.” You said bluntly.
“Well, yes-” Will shook his head. “But, broader. Think about the how and why.”
“Uh,” You racked your brain for the how and why. “Dehumanizing women? Turning them into property?”
“Right.” Will scribbled something that vaguely resembled what you said in the intersection of the three circles.
“They all have a sort of charismatic figurehead.” You continued. “Keith Raniere, Fred Waterford, Jimmy Prescott.”
“And each of those men had their respective degrees of power and influence.” Will added.
“But Borrasca was relatively self-contained.” You countered. “Drisking was a small little nowhere town. It was out of the way so the corrupt local police and rich families could hide the town’s fucked up secret from the rest of the world.”
“You’re on to something.” Will said, tapping his pen against the table. “Chase Mulvaney isn’t a Keith Raniere, but he wants to be. He’s Jimmy Prescott.”
“You think this is a family operation?” You narrowed your eyes.
“I think he’s operating this cult using family money.” Will began to click the pen rapidly as he processed his thoughts. “And family land.”
“So we're looking for some kind of reform camp." You concluded. "Probably one that targets young women and girls."
"Something religious, too." Will added. "But not like, a convent. He's preaching faith-based salvation so he's definitely not Catholic."
"Definitely either Southern Baptist or Evangelical." You agreed. "Or maybe some sort of strange non-denominational offshoot."
"Like those people who don't like the word religion but advocate for a christian theocracy in the US." Will muttered.
"Yeehawdists." You said under your breath.
Will cracked a small but noticeable smile at your stupid pun.
"I think we might be on to something here." Will said, an optimistic upturn in his voice. He stood up from his seat and shoved the paper in his pocket.
He grabbed your hand. "Come on. If we get to Quantico soon, I'll bet we can nail this guy tonight."

RWBY Panel 2021 Reaction
I figured why not. I was up at three in the morning to watch the panel just for even the smallest sneak peak or news of Volume 9 so I might as well throw out my reactions and thoughts into the void of the internet.
Let me start off with the biggest non-news, the lack of date for Volume 9. In the back of my mind, this was something I feared to expect. Between the pandemic, the blackouts, and probably a lot of other disrupting forces I am not aware about, it’s not reasonable to expect CRWBY to be at the same place with every upcoming volume every year. Similar for the Volume 8 Soundtrack, though for that I wasn’t expecting to hear any new updates on.
I am interested in the new game, Arrowfell, though I will admit that side-scrollers are not a style of game I’ve ever found compelling. It’s RWBY though, so of course I am going to check it out. They never said anything about what platforms it would be on though.
Now for the sneaky peak:
I’ll admit, that first half of it was intense. It really brought everything back, the anxiety, the near-panic, the anticipation of what would happen. It felt fresh seeing it from Ruby’s perspective.
Maybe seeing Yang’s fall happen in realtime will get people to lighten up on Ruby and realise that she couldn’t have really done anything, but I doubt it.
It is interesting to see how the edges of Ruby’s vision light up when she’s trying to call on her silver eye powers. I’d wager she experiences other sensations as well when its working and not just the sudden fatigue we see her go through after the fact.
So Neo is still attacking Ruby on sight despite the fact this path may have already sealed both their fates. I feel I should say this, I don’t think there is any reasoning with Neo. If she’s half as smart as she thinks she is, there’s no way she genuinely believes Ruby is responsible for Roman’s death. She went after Cinder first for a reason. She’s angry and in pain, and she needs someone a little easier to stab than a rogue maiden to take out her frustrations on. Ruby’s just a convenient scapegoat for Neo. One way or another, it will end this volume.
Oscar, Yang, Penny. These are all people Ruby has failed recently. Oscar was captured and tortured and Ruby didn’t even hear of it until afterwards. Yang took the blow meant for her and was the first to fall. Penny is the Maiden and it was Ruby’s job to protect her but now she is at Cinder’s mercy and that bitch doesn’t even have the word in her vocabulary. I feel this is the volume where Ruby has to confront her failures and increasing doubts about her leadership. We’ve been building up to it for a while
All alone and unarmed on a shore, in a strange place in another world. Nothing to do but keep moving forward.
At the very least, that she landed in the same realm we saw Crescent Rose suggests all or at least some of the Fallen have ended up in the same place.
Predictions
For Ruby, I think this will be a critical volume for her. All sorts of negativity has been building up with her for a while now and with her current situation, the fate of her friends, and when the news of Penny’s death inevitably reaches her, something is going to give. This might be a break from the plot but it is also a break for Ruby to reevaluate her leadership, her choices and how she’s been handling basically everything. How this changes her will likely determine the direction of the show and how the protagonists confront Salem going forward.
For Weiss, this could also be a big volume for her. For one, she’s gained and lost a lot this volume. Atlas, for all its faults which caused her to leave it twice, was her home, and now it is rubble and those of her people that survived are now refugees in a Kingdom they are not necessarily welcome. She confronted her father, and was working on her relationship with the rest of her family, but is now separated from them. She wasn’t as close with Penny as Ruby, but she lost her, too, and now her sister has the same target on her back and is probably doomed to suffer the same fate sooner or later. She also thought she lost her other family and it will be bittersweet to find herself stranded with them if when she can find them again. It’s been a rollercoaster for her.
While on this note, I think we are due for a heart-to-heart between Ruby and Weiss. Ruby recently had a talk with both Blake and Yang about her leadership, but I think Weiss has the best chance of actually reaching her. After all, Weiss was the first one to openly express doubts about Ruby being a leader, and it was also a position she once coveted for herself. Weiss is the sceptic turned believer, and she’s not afraid to call things as they are, so I think she is and always was the best one to talk to Ruby about this, which is why I think they never had this conversation before. Now that Ruby is in this critical stage, of course this is the perfect time for her once reluctant and now devoted partner to put in her two cents.
Since everything went down with Adam and her relationship with Yang improved, I haven’t been quite sure where Blake’s character arc will go from there. When Yang fell, she nearly completely lost and it clouded her judgment. After her talk with Nora, I wonder if Blake herself needs to reevaluate if perhaps there are parts about her own life and wellbeing that she has neglected since she and Yang have gotten closer. Perhaps it’s a time for her to reevaluate her priorities, which doesn’t necessarily mean distancing herself from Yang but it could still mean she puts more effort into herself and her other relationships, especially with Ruby, Weiss and Jaune.
Yang was the first to fall and everything went to shit after the fact. She stopped a sneak attack on Ruby but she couldn’t stop Neo or Cinder, and she was not there for her team or Penny. That moment is probably also too familiar to what happened with Adam at Beacon for Yang’s comfort, not that I think there was anything she could do better in either situation besides simply being faster. I don’t know what Yang’s response to everything will be, what effect this will have on her. Plus I can’t forget that she’s probably suffering a concussion right now.
As for the Bees, despite all they’ve been through and even with the split that happened last volume, they were still closer than ever. There’s a mutual respect there for each other’s decisions. If one is going through something, the other will be there to talk them through it or even simply be a shoulder to cry on. If this is a situation that they’ll be stuck on for the foreseeable future, at least they have each other and there are worse places they could be stranded in. Despite everything that happened or maybe even because of it, it might seem the perfect setting and timing for some confessions and more.
Now to Jaune. He certainly hasn’t had it easy. From the start, he was the furthest behind among his peers, and now he’s been licensed earlier than most of them. Pyrrha helped him a lot with that, and was the first to believe in him and she was taken from him, and it seems he came to terms with that since Argus. He didn’t let his grief blind him and he stayed on task with the evacuation, and he wasn’t reckless when he did confront Cinder. He did everything right, but it wasn’t enough to save Penny and in the end he had little choice but to respect her dying wish. It had to be done, I don’t blame him for being put in that position, but it’s still got to hurt. It’s also so appropriate that his weapon, one of his most important tools as a Huntsman, was broken after spilling innocent blood, almost like a punishment(?) for his “betrayal” to what a Huntsman is suppose to be. He’s going to carry this until the day he dies, and now he has to face his friends, especially his best friend whom was the closest of all of them to Penny.
Finally Neo. Like I said, I don’t think she can be reasoned with. She abandoned any sort of rationale a long time ago, and it will take more than words to shake her out of it, if it’s even possible anymore. I doubt there will be a peaceful solution to this conflict, it feels too similar to what went down with Adam towards his end. He also refused to back down, he too insisted on making Blake his scapegoat, and despite being given every chance to walk away, he persisted until his death. Time will tell if Neo can avoid that fate, but my doubts about that have only strengthened since the sneak peak.
As for Oscar and the others, I already had my doubts about whether we’d see them at all. The way CRWBY talked about this volume, it seems clear that this is our break from the main narrative so I doubt we will be seeing much of Vacuo yet. I am more than okay with that, it’d be good to take a break from the main plot and focus and our main girls again and we’ll get more of that with a significantly reduced cast.

What specifically do you find attractive about her?

Hello Hello Bree! My weekly dose of sunshine has arrived! 🤗
Sorry this took so long I am literally neck deep in assignments.
Anyways can I just say that these questions were just brilliant!! Book 1 is so close to our hearts and Ethan MC dynamic back in the day was priceless. 😂
Just a fair warning this contains a lot of pinching noses and rolling eyes because that's what book 1 Ethan used to do all the time. So now let the fun begin! 🤩
The setting for this answers is: Post Chap 15, before the ethics trial.
Ethan : Remind me again why I am doing this?
Meera : Because you are unemployed and have a lot of free time, also because I asked nicely? (with puppy eyes)
Ethan (Rolls eyes)
FOR BOTH
When I first saw them, I thought__________
*Both of them wait for each other to answer*
Ethan : You go first, this was your idea.
Meera : Oh boy. Why do I have the feeling you are going to hate me even more after this?
Ethan : I can't hate you more than I did when I first met you.
Meera (expectantly) : So you are saying the hatred for me has declined since then?
Ethan : Just answer the damn question.
Meera : Okay fine. I thought "why is this person being so rude to me? I am still a kid I am still learning. Such an asshole, gotta keep outta his path."
Ethan (looks at her amused) : I thought "ah shit here we go again. A new bunch of nerve wrecking idiotic interns incoming."
Meera (dramatically opens her mouth and places her hands on her chest) : Ouch! Rude!
Ethan (sly grin)
What is your coworker's most used swear word?
Meera : Jesus. Christ. Jesus Christ. He is religious that way. (winks)
Ethan : Very funny Rookie. She on the other hand has an explicit vocabulary in slangs but I think I have heard holy shit, holy cow, holy fuck the most.
Meera (excitedly) : See I am religious too. Also look at us twining in swears.
Quick: What color are their eyes?
Meera (immediately) : Ocean Blue! No, Celestial blue!
Ethan (looks at Meera, surprised)
Meera (suddenly concious) : Blue. Just plain simple blue.
Ethan (thinks for a moment)
Meera (puts a hand over her eyes)
Ethan : What are you doing?
Meera : I won't let you cheat.
Ethan : Cheat? I don't cheat.
Meera : Ofcourse the great Ethan Ramsey doesn't cheat. Then go ahead and ans---
Ethan : Dark brown.
Meera (impressed with him)
Three people at work your coworker hates?
Meera (heaves out a long dramatic sigh) : Ask me whom he doesn't?
Ethan : I tolerate most of them though.
Meera (chuckles) : I think it'll be Dr. Thorne, Dr. Myles and Dr. Hirata. Atleast these are the ones he complains about the most.
Ethan : Hmm. Fair enough. Bose here obviously hates that back stabbing "friend" whose name I'd rather die than learn. And I think Dr. Emery and Dr. Mirani also falls under this list.
Meera : Full point for the first one, but I think Aurora is a good person overall, she has some issues, which we need to work out. And I don't hate Zaid, I just don't like how he is always in a grumpy melancholic mood.
Ethan : Which is very justified of him given that he has to work with the interns the majority of his work hours.
What is your coworker’s strangest or most endearing quirk?
Meera : Easy, pinching the bridge of his nose and rolling his eyes when annoyed, which is all the time by the way.
Ethan : I think adjusting her glasses when it threatens to slip from her nose and forming her lips in a strange way when concentrating.
Bree : I am sorry doctor could you just explain the last part better.
Ethan (rolls his eyes and tries to do his best impression of Meera's pout)
Meera (chuckles) : That's not how it's done, Ethan. This is how it's done (pouts)
Ethan : Yeah same thing.
If they had a crush on anyone at work, who would that be?
Ethan : Crush? What are we? Highschool students? I am not answering that. (prepares to leave)
Meera : I think it might be Dr. Emery.
Ethan (stops short on his way out, turns around and takes a seat again) : Really Rookie? Fine you want to know her crush? It's that scalpel jockey, or that paramedic guy she is so friends with or maybe that other Indian intern roomate she has.
Meera : What! No. They are my friends. What made you think that?
Ethan : What made you think Harper is my crush?
Bree : Okay doctors let's move on to the next round.
Never have I Ever:
come into work hungover
Meera : Nope!
Ethan : Never. We are doctors we might get someone loose their life.
had a fistfight
Meera : Yes.
Ethan (looks at her unbelievingly) : I thought you were the harmless kind.
Meera (smugly) : I am mostly harmless, untill you get on my bad side. What about you?
Ethan : I'll have to say no.
Meera : You punched Nash though.
Ethan : He didn't punch me back, so doesn't count Rookie.
been kicked out of a bar
Meera : Unfortunately yes.
Ethan : Unfortunately yes too.
Meera : What?! The great Ethan Ramsey?
Ethan : Stop calling me that. I am a human afterall and I had some very stupid friends back in med school.
gotten a tattoo
Ethan : No.
Meera : Yes.
Ethan (smirks)
broken someone’s heart
Meera : Not that I know off
Ethan : I am not proud of it but yes.
been in love
Ethan : No.
Meera : Expected. For me it's yes. Maybe it didn't last but I can't say what we had wasn't love.
For Meera (Ethan is not there)
Where do you see him in five years (both professionally and in his personal life?)
He thinks he won't practice medicine anymore because he can't solve Naveen's case but I know he won't be able to resist helping people and ofcourse that is what Naveen always wanted. So, professionally, he is doing wonders. Inspiring thousands of hearts, guiding hundreds of young doctors and saving millions of lives. The diagnostic team has becomes globally recognised. He has written another book or two. Maybe won the Lasker Awards.
Personally, I hope he is happy and not lonely. He needs someone by his side. Someone who can tolerate his sarcasm and critisisim. Someone who will put a smile on his face when he wakes up beside her. Maybe he'll have a family, if that someone is really strong-willed. (let's out a dry laugh)
What do you find the most impressive about him?
His passion for what he does. He just lights up and enrapts the entire room when he speaks about medicine. And I just get lost in the sea of passion in his eyes. Also his stubbornness and unwillingness to give up is really impressive.
Last thing he texted you?
I'll show you wait.
He ordered about half a dozen books on Medical Law and Ethics for me.
If he asked you out on a date, what would you say?
(stays silent for a long time)
I don't think so he will. Like the chances are really really thin but trust me if he does I wouldn't dare say no. (colour rises to her cheeks)
But yes that's in a different world. A world in which we don't live. (sighs wistfully)
For Ethan (Meera is not there)
Where do you see her in five years (both professionally and in his personal life?)
If she manages to save her lisence she'll be a wonderful doctor. She'll save innumerable lives and be one of the brightest stars in medicine. I am sure she'll secure a spot on the DT and maybe even lead it someday. She'll make me proud. (smiles genuinely)
Personally I hope she'll be with someone who loves her more than anything and that she is with literally anybody else but that scalpel jockey. She'll have a loving caring partner who'll cook her meals when she comes home from a twelve hour shift. She'll have amazing friends especially the ones she has now. They really love her and they didn't think twice before helping her out with Mrs. Martinez's case.
Maybe she'll have a family. A few kids who will also grow up to show a stunning reflection of their mother.
What specifically do you find attractive about her?
Ethan : I can't say attractive but I'll say I like her personality. She has a magnetic one that makes sure to turn heads any time she walks into a room. Also I love that she cares so deeply about people and she is willing to go out of her way to put a smile on these people's face. Like for example Mrs. Martinez.
Bree : So is this "like" or "love"?
Ethan : Did I? Did I just say love? I am so sorry I meant like.
Bree : Could you enlist something physically attractive about her?
Ethan : If I have to. I'd say I love, er... like, like her laughter. It literally brightens the entire room. (blushes)
Last thing she texted you?
"Thank you Ethan"
If she asked you out on a date, how would you respond?
(sighs) I would feel lucky to go on a date with her, but right now in this situation? It's too complicated. I can't jeopardize her career, so it's a no form me, despite my actual feelings.
This was so fun! Thank you once again @jamespotterthefirst
