the strength it must have taken for illario to not immediately go full 'lmao since when have you even had a kiss hello lucanis' sibling violence mode during the café talk. inspirational. rook and lucanis really were doing all that right in front of his salad huh
#lucanis is being SO cringe with that line right out there in public and I would die for him. it's just such a weird thing to say#tbf if anyone in the world is used to the insane things lucanis says and would go 'yes yes lucanis waxing poetic about coffee#in ways normal people reserve for trying to get in someone's pants (the roast won't fuck you lucanis)#we've all heard it' like it's all normal I suppose it would be illario. and also he's too busy with the 'shit fuck shit he's not dead#he's not dead of the family members 'supposed' to be dead we're at two definite failures out of two and woe me if the twain should meet#if that IS a demon in there it sure talks exactly in the same bizarre way only my cousin does#does that mean anything what the fuck do I do who do I kill about this' internal monologue I guess#dragon age#dragon age: the veilguard#dragon age: the veilguard spoilers#dragon age spoilers#illario dellamorte#lucanis dellamorte#rook x lucanis#rookanis#I mean he does very much say that to a non-romancing rook too which only makes it all the more delightfully odd#is it a very lucaniscore way of testing the waters. is it just how he always talks about coffee. many plausible approaches here#no one forced him to bring up kisses and 'you should try it' out of the blue like that is all I'm saying. he could have acted normal#(theoretically)#i feel there are reasons to read some stuff into it lol#lucanis when rye says he prefers tea: it's so over cautious overture I don't quite understand myself yet gently rebuffed#lucanis when rye takes him up on the 'so what should a first kiss be' theme: oh we're so back!!!! wait. what. what do I do now#what is this#it's kind of really sweet that rook answers with their own playfully florid beverage based barely hidden metaphor at the end too#matching freaks and having fun with it#as far as lucanis is concerned rye's only true flaws are 1) prefers tea to coffee (oh well. no one can be perfect. cross-cultural love#can conquer all even in this) and 2) weird taste in interior design (did we really HAVE to bring your 15 foot tall corpse statues#with us home rook. I can understand a tasteful skull here and there but this seems excessive. well if it makes you happy I guess)

Thinking about the CFAU and marveling at how much Danny and Jason care for one another. Does anybody else figure out that Danny is going to kill the Joker, or is that knowledge Jason exclusive? I can't see Danny being close enough to any other Batfam member to disclose his plans, but I wonder if he drops hints. They're a family of paranoid detectives. I'd be surprised if they don't figure out Danny has a PURPOSE for being in Gotham at some point. Whether Danny's able to disguise it as wanting to be closer to Jason or not is another burning question.
Its def Red Hood exclusive! You're right in that Danny isn't close enough to disclose his revenge plot to any of the batfam members -- hell, not even Sam and Tucker know his true motives for returning to Gotham, and they're his best friends right after Jason! And Red Hood knows only because Danny accidentally slipped up ;].
I do also think that the Waynes kinda think something might be up with Danny -- at least Dick and/or Bruce might since they're the only ones who actually know him beyond brief mentions of him. Tim knows about him due to his stalking, but doesn't really know him -- and Danny plans to keep a healthy, friendly distance from the family so he can carry out his plans.
It's not that he holds any dislike towards them -- quite the opposite. He appreciates what they do for Gotham and recognizes the hard work that goes into keeping their Rogues Gallery at bay (even if he is bitter about Joker, but there's an obvious reason for that) -- but, well. He knows they're the vigilantes, he doesn't want to risk them sniffing out his murder plot before he can even go through with it.
Luckily for him he can excuse any distance he puts between them as just being busy with life and trying to settle in, and they're not close enough to him anymore to find it suspicious. I do think they figure out he's back in Gotham for a reason, Danny's not going to exactly hide the fact that he's back to find some kind of closure -- but what that closure is?
I think the only person who might suspect something sinister going on would be Bruce, who saw the sinking rage in Danny's eyes at the funeral -- it was part of the reason he didn't tell him who killed Jason (beyond secret identity reasons). But that depends on whether or not Danny reveals some of his hand, and the fact that he was still holding onto that rage (somewhat unwillingly) all this time.
#dpxdc#danny fenton is not the ghost king#dp x dc#cfau#childhood friends au#cfau danny#dpxdc crossover#danny's kept this deep-seeded hatred close to his chest for years. he's so close to his goal he's more careful than ever. he's under the#watchful eyes of his home city and the even more watchful eyes of her knights. he can't make any mistakes here -- not after the last one#with red hood. every step he takes going forward must be a cautious one so he doesn't draw the light of the batsignal.#also! funnily enough danny doesn't blame bruce for jason's death. sure they had a fight but he's not the one who sold him out to the joker#he's not the one who beat him to death. who blew him up. he's bitter over the fact that bruce withheld the identity of his murderer from hi#but even he can recognize the need to protect one's secret identity so he doesn't hold it against him that much. he's bitter over the lack#of action against the joker but that's a personal vendetta and again he recognizes how hard it is to be a hero. he would never ask bruce to#kill the Joker. he recognizes the fact that a hero cannot play judge jury or executioner and he respects Bruce's adherence to his moral cod#he knows it must be hard and he agrees that batman shouldn't kill. ever. bc if the batman kills the joker what's stopping him from killing#the common criminal? its a level of self-restraint and self-awareness that all heroes must have. and he genuinely respects bruce for it#if someone wants the joker dead that bad they can go and do the deed themself -- that's what HE'S doing. danny recognizes that his revenge#is wholly selfish in nature. it is closure for him and jason and him and jason only. its not good its not righteous its murder and danny#has come to terms with it.

I know it's well-understood at this point that Kirk/Spock is much more of a nerd4nerd ship than a nerd/jock thing, but it's just been kind of percolating around my mind that both of them aren't just space nerds but space nerds who were personally bullied.
Like, 18-year-old Kirk was targeted by an older bully who combines "total asshole" with "the most grating man in existence":
MCCOY: Well, yeah, I'm beginning to feel a little bit picked-on, if that's what you mean. KIRK: I know the feeling very well. I had it at the Academy. An upperclassman there. One practical joke after another, and always on me. My own personal devil. A guy by the name of Finnegan. MCCOY: And you being the very serious young— KIRK: Serious? I'll make a confession, Bones. I was absolutely grim, which delighted Finnegan no end.
This was five years after Kirk survived a genocide, btw, and likely well before his stint as an Academy instructor known to be strict and demanding (which is the period the "stack of books with legs" description of him comes from). By the time he's 33, fifteen years after all this, it turns out one of his deepest fantasies is just beating the shit out of his bully, but only if he can do it According To The Rules (the replica of Finnegan sneers, "Always fight fair, don't you? True officer and gentleman, you").
Spock, meanwhile, is viciously targeted by his Vulcan peers for being biracial from at least age 5; he's described as being tormented by other boys by that age, and "at home nowhere except Starfleet." I think he'd have been 18 or 19 when he left for Starfleet and it's... the least bad of his options, but he seems to have spent his entire career among humans and being persistently subjected to raw racism and profound disrespect for his culture at every turn.
Like, their histories of being metaphorically shoved into lockers are not identical or anything, but I think it's interesting that they both have them.
#i feel like kirk and mccoy are generally seen as more temperamentally aligned despite kirk being emotionally closer to spock#spock representing cold logic and kirk and mccoy as the passionate emotional ones#but i feel like a) spock is wildly emotional just repressed. and coolly utilitarian in philosophy. and usually undemonstrative.#b) mccoy is highly intelligent and sometimes VERY much the voice of reason#(not typically cool rationality but certainly reason - he puts together clues that the others don't see on multiple occasions#he's not as easily derailed by obscuring details or over-cerebral analysis paralysis as the other two imo)#c) but mccoy sometimes struggles with the really big emotional shit and spock is more on kirk's emotional wavelength there#(this is especially obvious in conscience of the king and turnabout intruder but not only there - in both mccoy resists seeing#the full horror of the violations of the most basic rights that kirk has endured while spock is much more sensitive to those things)#and d) kirk is emotionally expressive but typically more cautious and measured in judgment than either of the others#more likely to formulate positions in terms of philosophical principles than mccoy's kneejerk sense of decency#(which sometimes is exactly what's needed and sometimes disastrously lacking in rigor and reflection)#or spock's often brutally utilitarian focus on outcomes that runs roughshod over... like. everyone.#that's why kirk is the mediator; he's not at the exact midpoint in every dispute#but broadly his personality and strengths/weaknesses fall pretty evenly between spock and mccoy#(interestingly i think this is especially noticeable with kirk's infamous seductions - which are rarely motivated by simple desire#they combine the focused perception and expressiveness of mccoy and the brutally self-denying calculations of spock#when sylvia exclaims that he seems warm and passionate but his mind is cold it's like... yeah. softly lit femme fatale james t kirk#it's like the unholy side of kirk's overall approach borrowing pretty equally from both mccoy and spock)#ANYWAY the point is that i don't think kirk is actually more similar to mccoy than he is to spock#and in particular his tendency to repress the horrors and focus on useful concrete action are very akin to spock#long post#anghraine babbles#star peace#otp: the premise#c: who do i need to be#c: i object to intellect without discipline#star trek: the original series#anghraine's meta

the plasma logo on their armbands hit me like a punch to the gut orz
a point of pride tarnished with the people they are fighting against……
(Talking about this post)
I hated every moment of drawing that ;u; I can promise you they took it off the moment they could (Emmet more ripping it off - Ingo would take it off more calmly, but complain like, “I hate this.”)
But yeah, it’s cuz Team Plasma took over the region, including public transportation. Skyla would be stuck wearing it herself (she, like them, put on the appearance of cooperation for the sake of her own passengers as well as cargo exchange).

I think I’ve said it before but…Kuriko, who is the same height as her mom, and Aren who, beyond being a decent height, is more importantly built like a tank—holding hands… Kuriko holding Aren’s arm and Aren being all giddy because he know she could kick his ass

So I have been playing through Limbus Company, and I was wondering where the classic Project Moon vertical difficulty spike was, as I was having a suspiciously easy time progressing through the game, well I'm on Canto 5 now and it's safe to say I have found it.

I wonder how it felt when Lilly gave birth to Cole and lost her powers right away. She was pretty young, and she probably had a different vision for herself as an elemental master, meaning she never got to have fun with her powers as much as she would like. She probably couldn't get enough of them.
I wonder if Lou was worried about her when she lost her powers. He has no idea how it must feel like, but he can guess some part of her feels empty now. He'd be so worried if with PPD she would be angry at Cole for taking her powers or feel hurt, because you know, even though in her right mind she was happy that he was her inheritor, you never know.
He finds her sighing sadly when she is taking care of their garden a few times, no longer feeling like a part of the earth below her. It no longer feels like they are one, and it's a very odd feeling, she can't say she likes it. And it took some time to finally get used to it too.
One night Lou wakes up, and she is not beside him. He wonders where she is, and finds her talking to baby Cole. She yaps to him, asks him about how she wonders it feels to him. How she heard that when elemental masters are too little to wield such magic, "the magic is around them and not in them", or something like that, whatever that means. So he probably isn't even aware of the connection between him and his element.
Lou listens to them. How she talks to the baby in a quiet, soft voice, how Cole sometimes makes happy, funny little sounds, how Lilly giggles between her words when he does that. Best of all, Lilly doesn't sound as sad. She sounds happy when she talks to the baby about their element. How she explains to him that she is sad about losing them, but it's okay because she chosed to give up on them. She will be okay, it's just gonna take a little longer to get rid of old mannerism.

I truly am that part of the trans community thats like, "oh my dysphoria isn't that bad i don't think I want to fully transition." And then I'm constantly like, "I wish my voice was deeper, I wish I could grow a mustache, I wish my chest was flatter, I wish my body wasn't curvy."
And I'm ALSO one of those trans people that's like, "yeah I use he/they pronouns but being misgendered doesn't bother me too much." And I'm sitting here, realizing that almost every customer at my job refers to me in she/her and generally feminine/female honorifics (miss, ma'am, she/her pronouns, a man today called me babygirl and I fucking hated it) and that it actually really fucking sucks! I hate it! I don't wanna be a woman stop seeing me as one it sucks! ah!

the truth is that if dazai were written as a female character in canon, most of the people who like femzai wouldn't actually like her at all

I'm gonna be honest with you guys, the urge to do the same thing I did with the oitd silhouettes, aka slap text posts onto the art with no knowledge of their canon personality other than what they did in the trailer and pulling from the fandom's perceived personality for them, for the new oxventure characters revealed in that trailer is so real

not pitting sincaraz against each other just pointing out an objective truth that jannik was not a dominate player/potential grand slam winner last season (age 21/22) and carlos will finish this season semi-dominant and with two more grand slams (+ an olympic medal) (age 20/21). you can see how quickly a player's career can turn around within one season. so any talk about carlos being washed/playing badly sounds silly to me i can't lie. yes carlos wasn't as successful this year as last year. yes carlos wasn't as successful this year as jannik. last year jannik's highlights were throwing up in a trash can and beating djoko in davis cup (exaggerating.) so i really feel like carlos's struggles this season are slightly overinflated. we talk about "he has time he has time" let's be clear not only does he have time in his career (he is literally 21) he also has time on his closest current rival (age-wise, carlos's 2024 season is jannik's 2022 season). it will be two years before carlos is even the same age as jannik is now. so like. lets be chill here u know.
