So being “Spider-Woman” turned out to be harder than you thought. It’s not all swinging from and shooting webs like you imagined. Apparently, there’s a spider-specific physical regimen you’re required to keep up with. Every day. 

You’re almost convinced that you’re being hazed into the spider-verse community because you are yet to see anyone else doing upside-down web squats on a 100-story building. Not to mention the life-threatening training simulations you were thrown into as soon as you arrived in Nueva York. 

“They can’t hurt you, Kid. They’re holograms.” 

“Yeah, that’s what they want you to think O’Hara, but my ass has been kicked enough to prove differently.”

Miguel has been “training” you for the last few months to become the best Spider-Woman you can be, pushing you harder than you’ve ever been pushed before. Though these days, this “training” is actually just him telling Parker to drill you in whatever he thinks will work.

Actually, ever since you were dropped in the middle of Spider-Central, O’Hara has been ignoring you. Treating you like the plague. It’s not fair. He was literally all you had.

It’s sweet how she gushes on about some guy without fully realizing how into him she is. Miles sounds great, really great, but you’ll probably never get to meet him because of the number of restrictions placed on your watch. Fucking O’Hara and his parental controls. 

Gwen is cool, she plays the drums and can do a bunch of acrobatic things that you’d never even attempt, but she’s also almost a half-decade younger than you. There’s only so much you can talk about before you start getting homesick. Of course, despite her young age, she’s still given more responsibilities and missions than you. If Miguel has one hobby, it would be undermining everything you do. 

“She’s been in the game longer than you have.” He always makes that excuse. 

And you always counter it with: “But I’m older! I can do more than just scream for help!”

“This isn’t a discussion.” That honestly might be his favorite phrase to shut you up these days. “You’ll be called on when you’re ready, Kid.” And that. 

“I am ready. And stop calling me that. I’m not a kid, I’m 20 years old!”

“Yeah, whatever.”

There’s also Peter Parker, your reluctant coach. He’s…something else. Sure, he’s your friend, but he’s more like a substitute teacher and crazy uncle type of guy. Usually, he listens to everything Miguel says, acting like a glorified babysitter, but sometimes, he’s up to bend the rules on some things.

Once he let you visit his dimension, claiming you’d need some real-life experience as a “friendly-neighborhood spider-woman”. You spent that day chasing down petty robbers and helping old ladies cross the road. Sure, it was a small field trip, but that was only the third dimension you’d traveled to at the time. 

Parker is also always trying to get you to hold his daughter whenever she comes to work claiming that “it’ll be good for your mental health, trust me.” Of course, for Parker, every day is “bring-your-kid-to-train-the-new-spider-woman-day”. And really, you don’t mind holding her, but not when you’re in the middle of sparing 5 of Doc Ocks tentacles. 

The baby is adorable, but you do worry about how she crawls up the walls. Parker doesn’t seem fazed. Actually, neither does O’Hara. 

Sometimes you wonder if O’Hara wants kids one day. He certainly handles Mayday like a pro, letting her crawl over his shoulders and paperwork. Would he possibl– No, actually, it doesn’t matter. It shouldn’t matter, because he left you. He’s not – couldn’t even be an option. – Anyway…

Parker and Mayday are nice company and the only real constants in your life, but you really just want to be a consistent part of the team. You don’t know how much longer you can spend your days doing swinging drills and spider crunches (don’t even ask). But Parker has actually been your rock these past months, to give him credit. He’s one of the few people that makes you feel like you belonged in this distorted array of spiders and dimensions.

Then there’s Hobie. 

The first time you met him you probably had literal stars in your eyes. Donned with a spiked vest and several facial piercings, he caught your attention right away. He catches everyone’s attention. Even his suit is cooler than everyone else’s with a spiked mohawk that surely gets in the way.

Unfortunately, just as you were hoping to take on the Brit as your mentor for all things spider, he was decidedly off-limits, courtesy of O’Hara. Apparently, his rebellious nature and brash energy make him a “bad influence”. 

“Seriously? You should be glad that I’m taking a bigger interest in my training.” You have your hands posted up on your hips, trying to make yourself look bigger than you actually are. Damn, O’Hara and his domineering presence!

He rolls his eyes openly, genuinely already done with the conversation. “Yeah…your ‘training,’ sure.” 

“What is that supposed to mean!” You practically whine it out.

“Don’t get distracted gatita, just do as you’re told.”

“Ok, what does that mean? I don’t speak Italian.”

“That was Spanish dumbass.”

Of course, that doesn’t stop you from hanging out with him anyway (though he’s not around as much anymore). Who knew making friends as Spider-Person would be so hard. You’d think you’d have a lot in common with everyone around you, but really, you’re all alone. Sometimes you think the spiders actually resent you deep down because you’re the only one that has never lost anything. Or had anything to lose in the first place. 

For now, you’re just moving through a sea of spiders, trying to catch a glimpse of what you’re supposed to be doing here. Trying to figure out why you were chosen over the infinite other versions of you in the multiverse.

So far you’ve been on 2 and a half missions. The half was when you were forcibly sent home and effectively grounded for a week. Apparently, talking to civilians while standing guard is prohibited, even when they’re selling dip’n’dots. What? It was a long ass mission. And it was hot! 

This one is your official third mission. It’s quite simple, in theory. Just travel to Earth-275A, infiltrate a tech lab, pick up some – worryingly volatile – equipment, and go home. Easy. 

Except, it didn’t exactly go that way. 

It’s just you, Miguel, Gwen, and Jess on this mission. You and Jess were placed on lookout duty (you on the roof and Jess on the ground with her bike), while Miguel and Gwen broke in and out of the building. It was all running smoothly, each spider occasionally muttering quietly through the radio whenever their positionings changed. Otherwise, it was silent. And frankly, a bit boring. 

You idly kicked around some pebbles that somehow found their way onto the roof of this tall ass building, sometimes smacking them against the half wall separating you from falling a thousand feet downwards. You were actually dying to get back to HQ because you briefly spotted Hobie talking to Parker and Mayday before you had to go. He’s been quite absent lately, and you want to show off some of the new moves you learned this week.

Then, there was suddenly action. 

A huge explosion surges out the right side of the building that O’Hara and Stacy were infiltrating. That mission plan was not kidding when they described the ‘volatility’ of the shit inside of those supply crates. Deep creaking and smashing objects follow the blast. You watch as the tallest building in the city starts to tilt. Shit, the explosion must’ve taken out some of the support beams.

You hear Miguel yelling your name through your earpiece, as well as heavy breathing and crumbling concrete in the background. 

“Y-yes? Copy–”

“You and Gwen collect the crate and get out of here. I already called for a portal. Jess and I will get surrounding civilians away from danger.” 

“Understood, sir.” You don’t usually call him anything like ‘sir’, but the stakes are high and complete compliance is needed at this moment. 

“Crate is located on the top floor, Stacy is already there waiting for my word.” You briefly shake yourself out, mentally preparing yourself to scale the larger building in front of you.

With a quick fwp, you attach your web to the nearly as tall building next to your target to give yourself some leverage. You jump without even giving yourself time to think about it, tugging slightly at the web, making sure to collect as much kinetic energy as possible. You release the web when you get to the highest point and spit out another web to get you to the top floor of the building. Luckily the blast took out the windows so you could easily enter the floor. 

There, Gwen stands next to a crate with several scientists and guards nicely pasted onto the walls with perfectly placed webs on each limb and over their abdomens. 

“Took you long enough.” 

“It’s been 30 seconds!”

“Relax, I’m teasing.” She shoots out a couple of webs and connects them to the crate. “Here, help me out with this.” You follow her movements, pulling at your webs slightly to get a good evaluation of its weight. Surprisingly, it moves quite easily, almost three inches from your soft tug.

“Why’re we both doing this when it weighs 100 lbs. We have super strength.”

“I dunno, Miguel just gave us the orders. There’s probably a reason. It doesn’t really matter.” You frown realizing you could’ve been down there helping O’Hara save actual lives but instead, you were ordered to assist a teenager on a one-person job. “The portal is opening in a few seconds on the roof of the building behind us.” Gwen doesn’t seem phased. “We can just swing it with us.”

“Isn’t this shit going to blow up if we move it too harshly?”

“Not when it’s in this protective crate.” She steps closer to the broken window, mentally measuring and planning out the escape route. “That explosion earlier was from an open container.” You hum, still torn over leaving Gwen to do the delivery so you can help people get out of the way faster. “You ready then?” She’s been watching you. Clearly, your thoughts are painted on your face.

You nod briefly, “Let’s go.” Together you take each side of the crate and use your other arms to swing yourselves over to the portal that magically appears. This time, that odd purring sound of the portal is completely blocked out by the chaos going on around you. Somehow the building has still only tilted a little bit since the explosion. 

As Gwen pushes the crate into the gateway, you look down at the streets, watching as Miguel and Jess work impeccably together as they save hundreds of civilians from falling debris and the inevitable demolition of the building.

Then you look back a Gwen, who’s ready to head home. Then you look down at them again. 

Then your eye catches on a red sedan sheltering a terrified family that sits under the chaos.

Gwen catches your eye. “Don’t.” 

“I have to.” 

“Migu–”

“Would do the same.”

“--Will mur-der me.” You sigh, but quickly shoot a couple of webs downwards without looking. Gwen has her arms folded, sharing that unamused expression that Jess loves to sport. Her feet are now temporarily stuck to the floor. You’re sure she could get out of it in a second, but you can tell, she’s not going to stop you. “Don’t die.”

Right before jumping off the ledge, you send her a cheesy smirk, “Me? Never.”

I see majority of readers STILL conflating HoTD with F&B in their conversations about the show;

Rhaenyra is a ruthless woman - far from it, in fact. She is reckless, yes - requesting her younger brother be tortured off-handedly and not thinking twice about others' hardship in exchange for profit. She works hard to steer away from any kind of dispute (even though it's to her own disadvantage like Viserys), and she can talk her way out of anything as proven when manages to bring Rhaenys to her side with that marriage proposal. Even in episode 10, she believes in finding other solutions than war while it's Daemon pushing for military action.

Alicent is a master manipulator - again, what are you watching? Instead, she's portrayed as a victim of the various machinations men employ against her. The only time she regains her agency is when Viserys is finally dead. Coincidentally, that is also when Rhaenyra loses her independence! I even reckon they will be expanding on this key difference in Season 2.

Alicent and Rhaenyra are bad mothers - no, they aren't. Rather these women are products of their own circumstances. Alicent lives with the constant fear of her children being killed should the opposition gain power while Rhaenyra must constantly act with strength to ensure no one would dare stand against her or her family.

Laena and Rhaenyra were the besties - umm where? Rhaenyra slept with her husband on the day of her funeral!

Daemon is a great dad - no, he isn't. The most we have seen is him interacting with his two daughters. Although he taught one of them High Valyrian in one scene, he showed little interest towards her otherwise. As for the second daughter, he simply ignored her as if she wasn't worth his time. Other than that, he is mostly indifferent to Rhaenyra's other kids.

Daemon loves Rhaenyra - he prefers her out of all the woman he's been with, that's for sure. But the motives are still very unclear. Even Viserys, Daemon's brother, has suspicions about his true intentions; could it be that he's just using her as a means to gain power, or does he honestly love Rhaenyra and is willing to believe in her cause?

Aemond always calls Rhaenya a 'whore' - nope, not yet! Will that change in season 2? Maybe, but up until now, he hasn't. In fact on misogyny scale, he ranks the lowest when compared to Viserys, Aegon and Daemon. He only maintains a cold indifference for his half-sister. The only two men who are rather liberal with the words 'cunt' and 'whore' are Daemon and Criston.

Jace is a good fighter - LMFAO!

Otto is a bad father - he is not the best, but he isn't the worst either. He isn't any worse than Viserys or Corlys who all gambled away their kids' future for that political gain.

Double Vision as a father.

Dude, no, imagine being his CHILD, i feel sorry for anyone who has Double as some type of...paternal figure, LMFAO.

Experiencing parenthood isn't on my “to-do list”. Plus having a child, on this ECONOMY? I'm good.

Parenting is a humbling experience, my parents had taught me AND told me that. Well, that is certainly my fault because I was the devil reincarnated when I was a kid— but they still call me their little devil so not much has changed I guess. ( ͡°з ͡°)

But in this scenario...even if the circumstances aren't ideal, I believe that anyone can do their best if they really want to, it's not easy. It isn't the children's fault that their parents are so troubled. (meaning, if their progenitor is Double Vision in this case, lol)

I've discussed this with my best friend once, a long time ago and they said something about how Double will view his child as a possesion and extension of himself (and yours too, because he would only care about that kid just enough 'cause you are attached to them), i kind of agree with him. But, I mean? If Double Vision has kids with MC, wouldn't that mean he is fond with the idea of having kids? I haven't mentioned nothing about him being capable of “baby trapping” you because everyone else is disposable to him but you aren't. For all he cares, he only needs to held you tight by your throat to remember that he only needs you, he doesn't want or need someone else. In this scenario, your child was planned and wanted.

Even if you loved your child, he will be uncapable of loving them back the same way you love them but he wouldn't be uncaring, dude is deranged and a major bad influence. Mostly because of the way he is and taking in consideration the fact that his parents were emotionally and psychically absent when he needed them around, it's not an excuse considering how in this similar scenario Ray didn't had NO good-present parental figures on his whole life but wants to try his best, it just kind of explains why he acts and why would he act like that. I'm not saying that Ray would be perfect at parenting a child just a bit better than Double for sure, not gonna lie Double gives me “crazy-unstable uncle” vibes.

He is not right in the head, neither i am but hey, this is not a competition for who's more deranged, so...someone has to be the relatively-stable and emotionally available parental figure. (Meaning, YOU.)

Double's parental skills aren't the best; he is driven by his own emotions and he is the definition of what impulsivity means. He doesn't care much about consequences and who he might hurt to achieve what he wants and what he NEEDS. (You, again, for example. He obliterated the previous Night Crew members because of your “disappearance”. He may or may not broken someone's bones and mayyybe, just maybe! I think... he threatened some people here and there to get your location.)

I thought that maybe he would use your own child as a weapon to tame you so you'll do whatever he says. Emotional manipulation and conditioning...not even that poor kid is safe from that, Double is VERY MUCH controlling and overprotective. No matter how you behave, he stills wants you but of course, he loves a defiant behavior but he can't deny that he enjoys it when you "make things easier".

After all, parents will do anything for their children, right? Oh well, I'll be guessing that you'll do that for the sake of your child. Sorry if I'm wrong.

It doesn't really matter how that child appeared or how they were conceived and brought to you two to form a family. Those little details don't matter, you'll try your best, right? No matter what. You don't have much of an option if you are with Double, I guess. ಠಿ_ಠ

But I have the feeling that this freak will be overjoyed if the kid, shares your and his blood and genes. Just another thing to reaffirm his ownership over you. I don't think he will be capable of harming his own child, psychically, I mean. Maybe he WILL threaten you and say he'll hurt your kid when you “act feisty” so you'll give up.

Double Vision wouldn't be jealous at all of his child if they take all the attention from his most beloved possession off him because they aren't simply a bit of a threat to him and that kid is just trying to bond with you, i don't think Double would even bother to get in between of the parent of his kid and his child. Unless it is to annoy you or just be insufferable, as usual.

I like the idea that he underestimates what his child is capable of doing, lol.

For my own mental peace, i didn't added details like “what if your child had abilities?”. Because I have the feeling Double will be up to NO good with that little piece of information.

But let's just sit and think about it, either way, if your child is an ability holder or not, doesn't really matter if Daddy Double is around. Anything is possible and who is he to deny his child's wish to follow his daddy's step? Villainy, I mean, lol.

He would be overjoyed and proud his child wants to be a villain, like his parents. Well, he still is a villain and MC is not longer in the business because of Double, LMAO.

If you'd like to enter a more dangerous territory well, what if his kid wanted to become a hero? Not even an option, haha.

It's not like they have one, being a villain or just a regular citizen, no child of Double is going to become a hero on his guard. He will be very open about his distaste on the wish of his child wanting to be a hero, he might be ticked off by that.

Maybe he is usually cold-headed when he interacts with his own child, I think it's enough with him having you in edge constantly, at least he wouldn't behave or treat them the same way he treats you. Even though, there are times that his patience runs thin (when annoyed or angry, not entirely directed towards his child) and could say some concerning things that his child may take to heart.

Parents knows best, I've heard from a certain someone say before.

Now, what if that child grows? Woah, they are going through the terrifying, horrifying, traumatizing, horrible phase of adolescence! Amazing, worst years of my life! ᕕ( ՞ ᗜ ՞ )ᕗ

They are slowing growing into becoming an adult, they might realize how different everything looks when you are a bit...mature, you become more aware of what's going on around you. They will notice about how some behaviors from their parents aren't normal and not what they seemed, I'm specifically talking about Double Vision but you get it.

Maybe they will develop a rocky relationship with you but I believe that no matter what they will still love you and care for you, maybe you'll become their favorite and appreciate more the way you cared for them, who knows. Maybe they will hate you because you didn't tried enough and had to choose Double Vision as their shitty dad (I think it's for the best if they didn't know the reality of your situation 😁), they will grew and distant but who knows...?

About Double, I have the feeling that for their own sake they'll ignore his dad's existence as much as they can, Double is aware of that and doesn't care that much but I won't deny that he might be annoyed by that and oh NO! They ended up being just like you and Double is going to pick on you for that and even say that is your fault why they hate him so much.

Maybe it's for the better if your kid ended up being more like you rather than Double.

Double is an only child so i believe that he'll only want one single kid but I don't think he would be opposed of having another one but MAYBE, just maybe, no!

But there's something I believe that everyone can agree on and that's on the fact that Double looks so fucking HOT with grey hair.

Conclusion, could you have kids with Double? Absolutely, will he be a good dad? Questionable but most likely, not. I think he might be like his parents, he exists but he isn't a reliable person for his kids, it's kind of difficult to come a conclusion because he is so complex to me, my opinion on him is always ever-changing.

OH YEAH, you and your child might be the only ones besides some of your family members who probably meet him wayyyyyy before, a long time ago, that know his real name. It isn't that relevant but one of the most important things a kid has to know it's their parents name and last name, right? Not that Double's real name is going to be used as much as you might think.

You had expected the princess treatment to end sooner or later but it only kept getting worse.

Aaron had insisted on being the one to get your stuff from Sean’s house. And of course after bringing all your things home, there wasn’t even a discussion about where said things would go. Aaron’s place was the only right answer.

Not that you were complaining of course. He was gone for work most of the day, so living in his home – your home too, as he kept correcting you – gave you the opportunity to take in as much of him as possible.

It could be almost perfect, if it wasn’t for the thought of Sean eating you alive. You were waiting for that phone call, that message that he was finally ready to speak with you, every single day. And the more the time passed with no signal from him the more your feelings got unbearable.

It would take time to make peace with the fact that you and the man you loved were the villains in someone else’s story. You wanted Sean to forgive you, but you were well aware you also needed to forgive your own self in order to move on.

Part of you felt that maybe you deserved what you had gone through; that maybe being kidnapped was your punishment for being unfaithful to your ex-boyfriend.

Aaron would go crazy if you brought those thoughts to his attention, so you had chosen to stay quiet about it.

“What are you thinking about, honey?” he asked, pushing your hair back as he joined you on the couch.

“Nothing in particular.” You smiled.

“You know, I was thinking…”

“Yeah?” You raised your brow, intrigued.

“I never took you out for a date,” he said, his voice more melancholic than excited. “Never asked you out.”

“Well the circumstances weren’t ideal for something like this,” you said, in the same tone as his.

This man had been inside you, and yet blushed like a tomato to you agreeing to go on a date with him.

Aaron’s heart was racing as he rang the doorbell of his own house. He thought it was funny how the girl he was essentially living with, gave him butterflies as if he was a teenager picking up his prom date from her parents’ house.

You opened the door with a big smile, stealing his breath away.

I’m so in love with her, he thought.

He didn’t say it though – it would have been a terrible opening line for a first date.

“You look like a dream,” he chose to say instead.

Your shy smile made his heart flutter. Aaron was so mesmerized by you, he had almost forgotten to offer you the beautiful bouquet of flowers he was holding.

“Are those for me?” you asked, reminding him of it.

“Yes,” he rushed to reply, giving them to you. “I hope you like them.”

“They’re perfect. Thank you, Aaron.”

A gentleman as always, Aaron opened every single door for you, pulled your chair out, and showered you with compliments. It felt good and had you wishing you had done everything in the correct order.

You chose not to dwell on it though, and focused on the conversation you were having with the sweet man at your table.

“And I had to wait in line for four hours. It was hell,” you groaned, letting your head fall back.

“Wait, when was this?” Aaron asked you.

“Three years ago. The day before New Year’s Eve,” you answered, sipping some of your red wine. “I’ll never forget that day.”

“Y/N, what time were you there?”

“What?”

“What time were you there?” he insisted.

“I don’t remember exactly but I was there at least an hour before the store had opened. I was desperate.”

“I was there too,” Aaron said.

“What?” you asked, the palms of your hands covering your mouth. “You were there at the same time?”

“Yes,” he laughed. “I was there an hour before the store opened. I thought it would be early enough.”

“Aaron,” you giggled. “We were there at the same time.”

“We were.” He smiled.

You reached out your hand to hold his. “Imagine how frustrated I was that I didn’t notice the sexiest man in the world waiting in line with me.”

Aaron’s smirk made you laugh again. He lifted your joined hands to kiss your knuckles. “You were always around, weren’t you?”

“I guess I was.” It was your turn to kiss his hand now. “Waiting for my prince charming.”

“I just wish-”

“We should stop that,” you interrupted him. “This is the way things are. You have me and I have you now. That’s all that matters. We’re only looking forward from now on.”

“You’re right, my love.”

“Well this is me,” you said with a shy smile, pointing at Aaron’s house.

“Hm…” he said, his one eyebrow lifted.

You looked up finding him staring at you with a handsome smirk. At that moment it truly felt like the end of a first date; the excitement of the possibility of sharing a ‘first kiss’ with that man, making your stomach turn in the best kind of way.

“Thanks for driving me home,” you grinned, and you could see he was holding back his laughter at your act.

“Of course.”

He was not going to make a move.

So you moved closer, swinging your purse left and right. “Good night, Aaron.”

“No good night kiss?” You frowned.

“Good girls should not make offers like this,” he said, sternly. “I might take advantage of you.”

aa6-5 turnabout revolution

finished 6-5 over the last couple weeks, which means we've only got the DLC left for soj and the main series of games.

i gotta say ... i liked this finale a lot more than i expected to. i thought it was fun, and in turn that elevated SOJ overall. by far not the best ace attorney game i've played, but definitely not the worst. from the way fandom talks about this game and especially the finale i expected something awful, but i thought it had some fun ideas with mid execution, which is how i would describe ... basically every AA game after the og trilogy lol

anyway. more specifically (spoilers)

the first half of the case -- apollo vs phoenix -- is way up there on the "great idea, mid execution". i was immediately willing to assume phoenix had undisclosed reasons for doing his thing so i was immediately willing to let it slide, lol. "maya is kidnapped again!!!" is not the most compelling angle they could've done, but, whatever. also NPC nick seemed to have a brain in his head unlike player-nick, so that was nice

i also got a huge kick out of phoenix playing (essentially) the role of the prosecution and doing every dirty trick the prosecutors have done to him for 6 games: hiding evidence, leading the witness, manipulating the judge, etc. this prosecuting shit is easy!!! i imagine him making pointed eye contact with edgeworth in the gallery every time. also the idea of edgeworth and phoenix creeping around off screen for the first portion of investigation day 1 was awesome lmfao.

the fey lore was ???????????????? but i guess we can assume paul was lying about most of it lmfao so ... i guess. i WAS very annoyed by the kurain storyline mostly being about dudes and i did spend the whole case certain we were building to a reveal that the crystal of ami fey=the founder's orb bc ami=the founder. but uh. no i guess not. whatever

dhurke is a character i knew to be relatively popular in fandom but i can see why, he really cracked me up. actually his whole return out of the blue and apollo's extremely prickly reception are one of the relatively rare moments of interesting and competent character writing in these later games imo. i thought their relationship was handled pretty well and quite interesting. i mean, i suppose i find it a bit unreasonable that apollo got over 14 years of abandonment in like two days but lots of things in AA happen in hyperspeed

over in khurain i still found that case pretty good and even the trial days kept me pretty engaged, something SOJ had struggled to do to that point.

nahyuta is a bit of a weird one in that i find him overall underwritten and a little dull but i absolutely cannot fathom why fandom hates him so so so much while loving others lol, esp blackquill whose motivation is the same but more inexplicable. is he my favourite prosecutor? not by a long shot, but his circumstances were insane and his motivations were clear by the end and i ultimately just felt kind of bad for him. i liked him much more than blackquill or godot lmao sorry fandom.

but i still cheered when he was not the prosecutor for the last case LMAO bc i LOVED garan and her crazy anime transformation lmao, finally khurain delivers the True Fey ancestor experience: insane sisters who hate each other. chefs kiss. rayfa + garan + the dhurke/amara drama was very interesting imo. i knew that chick couldn't channell!! maya for queen tbqh

rayfa's a good character and i enjoyed her a lot. i was frustrated in the end that they tried to make it seem like her big development/inspiration/etc was apollo ... like ... it should definitely be phoenix, who spent more time with her and investigated with her and started trying to show her other ways of thinking etc. plus she just lost her parents and is clearly searching for guidance and it makes way more sense for her to find that in phoenix than apollo who showed up 2 days ago. i guess they're trying to 1. use the player character 2. push the dhurke connection, but it was stupid when shes obviously more attached to phoenix and/or nahyuta lol

jove "jangly" justice is the funniest name i've read maybe ever and i assume apollo's middle name is jangly. it's so funny how they build to doing his divination seance only to spend almost no time on him fhgkghhklg

anyway in conclusion i liked 6-5 a lot more than i expected. i thought it was pretty fun. i don't really get why fandom is so negative to this game, like even way moreso than DD, when this game is better by any possible margin from gameplay to animation to story coherency imo.

stray other thoughts:

-apollo's backstories are such a meme but i thought his backstory in this game made sense enough with aa4 (where he had no motive/little backstory at all and wasn't much of a player in his own story), and the characters implicated were real characters we got to spend time with and interact with. unlike clay.png

-edgeworth is there for No Reason At All (fanservice) and i find that deeply hilarious. he's nick's +1 and he had to sleep on the floor with a bunch of strangers and crawl through the sewer. hysterical.

-for maya fey's big return game i sure thought maya was going to get to do stuff besides what she always does in a finale, be absent for plot reasons. sigh. oh well at least i got a laugh imagining her and edgeworth spending the rest of the trial arguing about the plumed punisher while nick and apollo are held at gunpoint

He can't figure her out. This has never been a problem before-- Rhysand finds that most people and fae's expressions spell out exactly what they feel or think. But not Victoria. Her face is neutral, and he can't understand her.

"So you're telling me you have no opinion about our marriage? It's a forever thing, you know. It's not some trivial game. This is binding," He inquires.

She scoffs quietly. "My Lord, before we are to marry, I will lay the rules out for you. One: you are never to speak to me as if I were a child. I am a grown woman, just as you are a grown man. You will treat me with respect. Two: I barely know you. I don't have some naive little girl's fantasy of a perfect marriage. We are complete strangers."

Rhysand raises a brow, folding his arms. He studies Victoria carefully. Again, she gives nothing away, except for her clear annoyance with him. He smirks at Victoria's sharp comment. "Sharp tongue, hm? I wasn't aware I'd marry such a venomous woman." He tries to provoke her, to get under her skin. He needs something. Victoria cannot remain a mystery to him.

She sighs. "If you have nothing more of importance to say to me, I will take my leave now. Goodbye, my Lord. I will see you on our wedding day." She says this with perfect manners, the definition of cold, withdrawn politeness. Victoria bows slightly and turns to walk away, leaving Rhysand in the frosty courtyard, alone and confused.

Victoria's POV

Her high heels dig into her ankles, leaving deep red wounds that sting and burn. But she doesn't let the pain show as she walks away from Rhysand. He will never see the real me, she vows. He will never find out my weaknesses. I won't let another man treat me like garbage. So she keeps walking and walking, until she's in her bedroom, and lays down on the bed. By this point, her feet are bleeding and throbbing, so she sends for the maid. After a soak and some bandages, she lies in bed to sleep.

But after an hour of tossing and turning, sleep still does not arrive. Her scalp feels itchy, and her chest burns. The fire must be returning. Victoria slowly tries to get out of bed and inches to her desk, rummaging around for some of her medicines. She finds the usual winter root, which helps cool her heat rashes, as well the snowberries she collected in the garden. The snowberries have an eternal chill about them.

Victoria mashes up the berries and root together, mixing it with water and drinking the juice quickly, hoping it can calm the burning. She lies back down.

The anxiety of marriage-- forever binding, everlasting-- with this man she does not care for... it certainly doesn't help her sickness. He's arrogant, self-important, condescending... ugh. She wills herself to concentrate on something else so that the burning in her chest will settle.

Eventually, she drifts to sleep.

Rhysand's POV

It turns out that Rhysand cannot find sleep either. He tosses in bed, watching the night sky. But unlike Victoria, he doesn’t burn.

He is so frustrated by her. What is it? Why is she so different from other fae? Why does she have this effect on me?

Rhysand might not ever figure it out. He wishes she would just be more open. But it’s not like he’s the best person to trust. Victoria has never met him before this engagement, had no say in the matter… he can see why she’s so guarded.

But then again, he is her fiancée, and Rhysand somehow wishes she would treat him as such, even given the circumstances. As much as he hates to admit… he is lonely. For decades now, he was never alone. Granted, it wasn’t really by choice, but he adapted to having company. And after Amarantha’s fall, he’s been mostly alone.

But no matter. The wedding is this week, and after they are married, Rhysand will have plenty of time to get closer to Victoria. No rush needed. He will just have to be patient for another few days.

it's an act of selfless bravery for young meng yao to throw himself between his mother and the john who is trying to hurt her, and he's injured seriously in the process when the john ends up shoving him down the brothel stairs in response to his intervention

young meng yao has nothing at all to gain through allowing himself to be beaten and abused by wen xu's cultivators while in hiding with lxc during the war--in fact, he could potentially gain quite a lot in the short term or long term through cooperating with the qishan wen, because what other connections does he have? but he doesn't! he protects lxc because he wants to protect him, even if it costs him quite a lot to do so

we know that jgy loves spoiling nhs and showering him with gifts, and I know there's plenty of ~discourse~ around whether he's doing this to drive a wedge between nhs and nmj (yawn), but I just genuinely love how clear the text is that not only does nhs just delight in getting fancy new stuff from jgy every time he visits, but these gifts are specifically tailored to nhs's interests in art and calligraphy, because jgy has been paying attention to nhs as a person.

just--look at how focused nhs is on comparing the inscriptions on the fans, he's clearly intellectually engaged by what he's doing, and nmj could not give less of a fuck. it makes me very angry on nhs's behalf, and at this point nmj hasn't even kicked jgy down the jinlintai steps yet!!

it also kills me how overjoyed nhs is by the arrival of his knight in shining armour, even if he is mostly just glad that nmj is gonna redirect his temper at someone else for a while lmfao. but like it's clear at this moment that 1) nhs is just happy to see jgy, and 2) nmj, while still going through life with a hair-trigger temper, is clearly still capable of finding nhs's reaction to jgy as something funny/amusing, and not solely a source of anger/resentment. makes me very 🥺

look!! /gestures @ all of that, look at how jgy tries to intercede on nhs's behalf here with nmj (and please appreciate with me nhs's precious and emphatic agreement lmfao hush a-sang you are not helping). I think the bits I highlighted below just emphasize how tuned in jgy is to nhs's interests and how seriously he takes them:

the things that jump off the page and grab me by the throat here are nhs's immediate fascination with the cultivation technique that jgy and nmj are discussing, because you'd think that anything even tangentially affiliated with cultivation would be something nmj would want to nurture an interest in. but beyond that just the confirmation in the text that jgy, knowing nhs does have an interest in music, previously procured and delivered him a first edition of something that clearly held nhs's interest and so enthralled him that he is unable to stop himself from talking about it! he's so excited, and intellectually engaged by the gifts that jgy has brought him--and then nmj just... shuts him down so completely that he flees the room. just. what the fuck, da-ge.

and it's pretty clear that jgy is also thinking the same thing, though he clearly can't come out and say "respectfully, chifeng-zun, but what the fuck," and still expect to keep his neck attached to his shoulders. so he uses the only effective tools at his disposal to try to get through to nmj: speech and diplomacy. and I will never understand why fandom ascribes such nefarious intent to what he says 👆👆👆 right here. "brother, if you're concerned for huaisang, softer words would do no harm." "it isn't that huaisang is a good-for-nothing, but that his heart lies somewhere else." "the only person whom I can't discern is you."

(tangent: if my math is right (end of sunshot to nmj's qi deviation), this is a 4-5 year long stretch of time during which we see meng yao, and then jin guangyao, working himself to the literal bone trying to understand and get through to nie mingjue. it clearly frustrates him that he has failed at doing so, and he does not hide this from nmj! which is why it galls me that nmj does not do even a tenth of this work in trying to understand jgy in return post-sunshot.)

...wow this turned into a post deconstructing jgy's gift-giving as an expression of his understanding and acceptance of nhs as a human being, and I make no apologies for it.

Just a little response to THIS post @deceptivemorals regarding Katherine not asking for help-

This isn't like combating your post mostly just explaining why she didn't reach out to him as you mentioned.

So Katherine doesn't deal well with rejection at all. Like. AT. ALL.

Elijah never explained to Katherine WHY he left her, he simply did- leaving Katherine with zero answers and just the visual that he abandoned her the moment she was ready to really start trying to find the girl she used to be. The one Elijah sees when he looks at her. This was an extremely pivotal moment for her, and she was very vulnerable in it. She had listened to Elijah after she broke Elena's neck. REALLY listened to him.

She made a BIG move against her own interests just to show him that she meant what she said. That she loves him, that she didn't want to lose him- she gave up her biggest gun in her centuries old fight with Klaus for her freedom, and he ABANDONED HER without more than just a 'goodbye.'

Elijah REALLY hurt her, and that's why she instantly lashed out at Elena about it. She was confused and hurt and rejected and the only sense she could make of it was that Elena had to have turned Elijah against her. She had no other information she took what she SAW and she ran with it because what else was she supposed to do? The girl has zero emotional regulation and those are some BIG feelings shes got in her chest. She's physically incapable of just dealing with them like a normal person.

And had Bonnie given her the immortality that she was after (Silas style) which was a win she really needed after that, it MIGHT have been enough to keep Katherine leveled enough to walk away. Unfortunately Bonnie rejected her too. She had nothing to sooth that pain and so she did what most bpd people would do. She lashed out at the (believed) source of her pain. And because BPD ppl feel thing at an extremely heightened level- they tend to bite back twice as hard as they were bitten because they subconsciously want you to feel how badly you hurt them. ABANDONMENT is one of the WORST feelings for someone with BPD- so rationally Elena had to die lmfao.

This incredibly dumb and impulsive moment was not one based in logic, she absolutely was running off triggered lizard brain and picked FIGHT. 100000000000000000000000% Elena should not have won that fight at all Katherine has 500 years and 500x the experience on Elena and she ONLY won bc plot armor but that's another post-

ANYWAY, circling BACK around to my point...

After being turned human, Katherine didn't reach out to Elijah because she was hurt and afraid he'd he'd reject her AGAIN. That shit HURTS and she's already battling with Stefan's rejection daily- Katherine didn't reach out to Elijah because she was scared to. The difference between when she reached out to team up for the cure, and when she didn't after she was turned human was time, space, and circumstance.

Katherine might have known he wasn't too pleased with her when she reached out for a team up, but the difference is, he didn't straight up abandon her previously. Even if he HAD it would have been MUCH clearer on the reasoning behind it. When he left her before she got turned back into a human, he left her with no closure and rejection in a very vulnerable moment where she was trying to ask him to run away with her. To be with her, to have a life with her. He rejected her without giving her a reason, and so whos to say the same mystery reason wouldnt be there if she asked for help once turned human.

Yes LOGICALLY she should know if she is in REAL need of his help, that he will come help her- but the problem is, logic has very little place in emotional reactions like the one Katherine had, and they STICK with her for a WHILE.

So while Elijah would have expected her to contact him if she needed help? She was afraid to contact him in case he wouldnt give it to her. YOU HAVE TO GIVE BPD PEOPLE REASONS. CLOSURE. INFORMATION- you can NOT leave them with nothing they do not understand and will grasp at STRAWS to find some way to explain what happened. So Elijah not giving Katherine Closure essentially is what triggered the fight, the cured Katherine, and her inability to reach out to him. (OBVIOUSLY not his intention but the domino effect remains.)

TL;DR- if Elijah had told Katherine why he was leaving her reaction might have been completely different and she probably would have coped better instead of beating Elena's ass about it. Coulda, woulda, shoulda- essentially.

Esp if it's following the Alfonse who would become Líf... I also think it captures the generational cycles that are present with Alfonse, Gustav, and Grampa Askr as well!

Ghost - Mystery Skulls

> Some are more Líf leaning tbh LMFAO but! Speaking of! I've mentioned it before, but Lewis was actually a huge inspiration/reference for me when learning How To Draw Líf -- sorting out how to simplify him, get him to fit more w my cartoony style, and how I want him to look body-type wise (big broad guy!)

Also the way I emphasize heart motifs on Líf is very inspired by Lewis! While also trying to simplify the shapes/taking creative liberties and running with them LMFAO

So Ghost is like. Yeah I think the lyrics can fit! But there's Deeplore here too LMFAO

Alfonse is face down ass up laying flat on his bedroom floor. He's been playing this song on repeat for at least an hour. Sharena tentatively checks in on him very "Are ya winning, son?" but she knows he fucking isn't. I think it also captures the feelings of heartache and regret of letting someone in and getting hurt for it. AND AND it's because of THE CIRCUMSTANCES. Lamenting The Circumstances -- "Cupid, how could you be so cruel?"

Fist Bump - Sonic Forces themesong

I could have SWORN I had more but........... I never made a complete collection...... honorable mention to The Black Parade and a handful of MCR songs tbh (This Is How I Disappear feels very distinctly Líf, I Don't Love You honestly could be either depending on the circumstances, Famous Last Words feels a little more Alfonse-leaning). I think if you introduced Alfonse to MCR it WOULD rearrange his brain chemistry, it Would be the closest thing he's had to therapy. And in addition to music I would introduce him to personally, I think The Wonder Years is another good one (but all of TWY's stuff feels so deeply personal... like diary entries and poetry.... cannot be entirely Blorboified.
