I’m halfway through Bravern and this gotta be one of those shows I wish was longer but not for the fact it *needs* to be longer because it’s paced really good for its length, it’s more so the fact I want more dumb fun adventures with Bravern. This is one show i UNIRONICALLY think would benefit from a bunch of random over the top slice of life in between the plot. (I would say this in the true fashion of a brave show but I haven’t seen one yet lol)
#meg text#bang brave bang bravern#i will say 40+ eps would drag it out I more so mean like 24 (so double of what it already has)#Obari def knows how to pace though so he still made it fun whilst moving the plot along but maaaan#I’m so sad this couldn’t be 20 eps#I want more of Bravern I want more of Isami I want more of smith I want more of lulu- just everyone#this would also give the side characters a chance to be fleshed out more but also can’t comment on their development yet#since I’m not done lol#I would say “maybe it’ll get a sequel” but afaik the ending is wrapped up so#but let obari make more mecha this was a great decision

Sentinel takes a big dip into the world of “Brave” with God Gravion and the anticipation on my end was at a high from the second a teaser was shown. To have it finally here in hand feels like a dream come true as a fan and even though there are some low points to it this was really a treat to review. Check out the video above as well as my written thoughts, grading, and gallery below then let me know what you think in the comments. This piece is a “big deal” so I’d like to know what you all think as well in terms of whether or not it stacks up.
Presentation: I really like what the Metamor-Force line does with their boxes in the sense that they’re big, sturdy cardboard boxes with no gimmicks and absolutely fantastic artwork and graphics throughout. Unlike some of its predecessors though, this one’s box has a glossy finish which gives it a much fancier appeal on top of the fact that the box is pretty darned big (In fact, I think it may have beaten Giant Gorg for the biggest box I’ve seen from the company.) The size of the box isn’t for wasted space, though; right away you can see Gran Kaiser ad well as the Gran-Divas on top of loads of accessories packed very well into their plastic clamshells. The paint and overall decos on these pieces are immaculate as well and it really gives a “high-end” feel both on receipt and opening of this piece.
Build: Both Gran Kaiser and the Gran-Divas are comprised of both plastic and diecast pieces. Everything on it is well put together and very tight. Although I don’t fear that any pieces of it will break during play or transformation, there are multiple areas that I feel are prone to paint rubbing and chipping if not played with carefully (shown in video.)
Accessories: God Gravion comes with his Graviton Sword, blasters, and the Graviton Cresent built into the chst portion of G-Shadow as well as a great variety of different hands (for God Gravion; Gran-Kaiser only comes with two hand options.) I feel that the accessories are plentiful and all have their uses but this is a pieces that could have benefited from a a stand as much or more than any other piece I’ve even gotten from Sentinel.
Articulation: In what came to me as a surprise for a Sentinel product the articulation is actually the low point on God Gravion. For this I highly recomment watching the video portion to see things like how the shoulder armor really hinders the arm movement and even seemingly unnecessary limits on things like elbow bend. I think the easiest way to word it is that this in play feels like how the Sentai mecha actors in those large, cardboard suits looked in motion. It’s pretty rough.
Overall Score: 7.5/10 – God Gravion really is a fantastic pieces that I really think will impress the majority of those who purchase it. However, the very odd articulation limits in key areas really feel like a step back from what their designers have been doing to this point and I just can’t wrap my head around some of the decisions made in that area. With God Gravion being an Obari design in particular there are some dynamic things that fans are going to WANT to do with this piece by nature and having some of those things either be very difficult or not possible to do with this while other Obari mecha like Sentinel’s Dancouga are engineered around being able to do them leaves me slightly frustrated. Overall God Gravion is an amazing display piece but the play portion makes the price point hard to justify.
Check out the gallery below and if you fancy one of your own check out The Chosen Prime and order yours!
