Election 2020 Presidential Candidates Assessment
Hawkins/Walker (Green):
The Green Party candidates Howie Hawkins and Angela Nicole Walker do not state their exact position about Criminal Justice Reform but the website does provide the American people with what the Green Party is going to do in order to ensure change within our criminal justice system. The Green Party wants to “monitor and prosecute White Racist terrorists, provide federal investigations of local police misconduct, have community control of the police, end mass incarceration, decriminalize personal possession of hard drugs, provide drug treatment on demand, decriminalize sex work, fight corporate crime, end warantless mass surveillance, and pardon whistleblowers and political prisoners”. I disagree with a few of the Green party’s positions. For example, they want to legalize Marijuana but isn’t it already legal? Another position I don’t understand is decriminalzing sex work. Personally, I do not think this should be okay. To make sex work legal also means that abortions, HIV’s, STD’s, infections, and even Aids would still go on. Why would we pass a bill that would basically state that rape, abotion, and all the infections that I listed would be okay. Even if they did pass a bill with safety regulations while decriminalizing sex work there would be nothing to guarantee those safety guidelines. I think that they should still criminalize sex work BUT provide these people with better, high-quality jobs that aren’t so risky and dangerous. Other than that I agree with all other positions stated for this political party. I agree that we need to monitor our police system to ensure that they are providing safety and NOT danger to the community. I also agree that American citizens that are detained because of a non-violent drug addiction should be hospitalized and forced into rehabilitation. If we compare the candidate stance to the party platform stance, we can identify that there are way more things that the Green party platform wants to do in order to reform the criminal justice system. While their views are quite similar and supporting to the candidates, the Green Party platform goes more in depth about their positions. They want to abolish the death penalty, repeal three strikes laws, incororparte mental health social services to bail agreements, and even provde community team policing. These are just a few specific things that the Party platform wants to do ensure changes within the criminal justice reform. The platform compared to the candidates state more of what they specifically want to do whereas the candidates put their positions into short terms.
Donald J. Trump/Michael R. Pence (Republican):
Donald Trump and Mike Pence have provided the American people with their plan to reform the United States law and justice system. Trump has given the Department of justice $98 million to hire 802 full-time enforcement officers. He also signed an executive order to restore state and local law enforcement access to surplus equipment such as armored vehicles. This was not Trump’s idea but it was on his Law and Justice page but the Department of Justice created the National Public SAfety Partnership, which would reduce violent crimes in cities. Trump’s administration expanded Project safe Neighborhoods in order to work with communities and cities to develop customized crime reduction strategies. The department of Justice returned to their old standard policy because they want federal prosecutors to charge criminals with the most serious, readily provable offense. Now those prosecutors were directed by the Department of Justice to focus on taking illegal guns off our streets. Trump has made many decisions on how to confront street criminals like gangs and criminal cartels. For example, he signed a three executive order that focused on international criminal organizations that prevented violence against law enforcement officers. The Department of Justice has designed a priority for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force in order to allow federal law enforcement to utilize an expanded toolkit in its efforts to dismantle the organization. Trump’s version of reshaping the American courts include him appointing conservative Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. He also has appointed more than 50 circuit or appeals court judges, along with appointing 80 district court judges. Now, here is my position on all of this. First of all, hiring new police officers may or may not make a difference and it might enforce better more equal police officers within our nation but don’t you think that $98 million dollars could go to a better cause. A better cause could be giving police officers across the nation a lesson or some type of training to make sure that no one is brutally hurt while being detained or to make sure that a police procedure is done fairly with equal rights set on the table. I think that it was a smart idea from Trump to expand the project Safe Neighborhoods because it is a way for communities to come together to reduce crime. While it was good that Trump signed a three executive order that protected officers more, I think there needs to be an order that protects American citizens from police officers. In all, I don’t think that with Trump with Trump being President we are going to reform much of our justice system. Based on his views and what he wants to do he is looking out more for the officers which is great but as a leader of the United States we need someone that will be looking out for everyone as a whole. He needs to set laws where we are guaranteed an equal justice system for all people of color, race and ethnicity. The candidate stance is a lot different compared to the party platform because the party platform goes more in depth about what republicans actually want to do to reform our systems. Whereas from the candidates stance he just talks more about protecting Law enforcement rather than American citizens. I think their position supports the party platform but not in a way that is shown. In addition, I think that Trump supports police more because that is how he is going to get their vote. He does it for a voting tactic. Personally, our law enforcement needs new training and they need to learn how to keep our American citizens safe. I am half Indian and even I worry about the police looking at me in a different way because of my darker skin tone. I couldn’t even imagine being African American and dealing with everything that is going on.
Gloria La Riva/Sunil Freeman (Peace and Freedom):
Gloria La Riva and Sunlil Freeman seem to be educated about what they want to do with their decisions when it comes to reforming the justice system. They know that police brutality is hurting the lives of African Americans and they also take into consideration that we need to give back to those communities who lost loved ones. These candidates say that “reparations must be paid to the African Americans and Native communities”. With their knowledge they know that 2.2 million people are behind bars in the biggest prison and they want to change that to end mass incarceration. Luckily, they want reform by punishing law enforcement when police brutality and violence are performed from cops. “Free Leonard Peltier, Mumia Abu-Jamal and all political prisoners”. These candidates' goals are to end racism, end mass incarceration, and create equality. The party platform is very similar to the candidate stance because they both want to do different things to create change and they are both very set on what they do. Their ideas are very similar for example they both want to end mass incarceration, end torture from police bruality especially in prisoners, but the party platform wants to do more specifics like abolishing the death penalty, prove rehabilitation for drug offenders, and repeal the three strikes law. I agree with these candidates! I think that their positions and plans define a future for a more reformed justice system. They want to keep our Americans citizens safe and give opportunity and a chance for those who are in trouble with the law. Providing rehab, and treating every individual like they are all equal when in difficult situations makes everyone feel equal!
Roque De La Fuente “Rocky” Guerra/Kanye Omari West (American Independent):
Email sent to Candidates -
Dear Roque De La Fuente Guerra and Kanye Omari West,
The issue I am concerned about is reform within the justice system. I am concerned about this issue because it appears to be a major problem that is happening in our world right now. We have mass incarceration rates and people are being treated poorly within our justice system. I am currently a senior at Acalanes High School and I am researching this issue for my senior Government Class. Please clarify your stance on this issue. Thank you so much for your time and good luck!
Sincerely,
Sonali Randhawa
O Jorgenson/Jeremy “Spike” Cohen (Libertarian):
These candidates really point out exactly what they want to do in order to reform the justice system. Many statements from their website start with “As your president” which means that it is specifically coming from the president so we understand what their positions and exact plans are. Their plan is to “decriminalize all drugs and encourage states to do the same '' and they state that they will work with congress to make history of the failed and unjust War on Drugs. They want to deal with substance abuse issues in a way that salvages lives, instead of throwing them away and detaining them for a long period of time. In order to see if an actual criminal act is taking place nameless, faceless SWAT teams that have been imported to our streets. Their mission is to go after drug offenders who have harmed no one and have taken scores of innocent peoples lives in violent confrontations. The president says that “I will defund federal involvement in policing. I will defund the DEA and keep federal agencies out of local police matters unless called upon by state authorities. No Knock raids will be performed because many times it ends up in killing innocent bystanders like Breona Taylor. They state that their goal is to get the government out of the way of AMericans lives to end the harm which the government itself has created. The candidate stance is a huge comparison to the party platform. The candidate stance does not support the Liberatraian party Platform. The difference is the party platform supports the constitution and they only talk about their view on crime and certain consequences that need to be done to the offender. But the candidate stance does. From the candidates stance, they have a lot of positions in place and they want to create change for the people that are capable of changing with drug offenders. NON-VIOLENT OFFENDERS are the people that we need to be changing in order to create a more united country. I agree with the candidate's stance. Mass incarceration needs to end so we can have our American citizens be reunited with family. We need to end mass incineration and provide help and rehab to prove that we actually do care about our U.S citizens.
Joseph R. Biden/Kamala D Harris (Democratic)
Email Sent to Candidiates -
Dear Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris,
The issue I am concerned about is reforming the juvenile justice system. I am concerned about this issue because it appears to be a massive worldwide problem that is making our country even more divided by the day. We have mass incarceration rates and people are being treated poorly within our justice system. I am currently a senior at Acalanes High School and I am researching this issue for my senior Government Class. Please clarify your stance on this issue. Thank you so much for your time and good luck!

Election 2020 Presidential Candidates Assessment
Howie Hawkins/Angela Nicole Walker, Green
HAWKINS STANCE: The Green party wants to: “Monitor and Prosecute White Racist Terrorists, Federal Investigations of Local Police Misconduct, Community Control of the Police, End Mass Incarceration—Treat Drug Abuse as a Health Problem, Not a Criminal Problem, Legalize Marijuana, Decriminalize Personal Possession of Hard Drugs, Drug Treatment on Demand, Decriminalize Sex Work, Fight Corporate Crime, End Warrantless Mass Surveillance, Pardon Whistle Blowers and Political Prisoners”.
AGREE/DISAGREE: I agree with their stance. I stand for a lot of the same issues like drug reform, and ending mass incarnation. I also agree with treating drug problems like a health issue and not a criminal issue.
PARTY: This agrees with their party stance as the green party is very much on the left with this issue and so is Hawkins.
Donald J. Trump/Michael R. Pence, Republican
TRUMP'S STANCE: Trump and Pence want more funding for local police, and want to reduce crime in cities. President Trump signed three Executive Orders – 13773, 13774, and 13776 – aimed at cracking down on international criminal organizations, including drug cartels and gangs, and preventing violence against law enforcement officers.
AGREE/DISAGREE: I do not agree with Trump's plan/ what he is doing regarding criminal justice. I do not believe that local police should be able to have armed vehicles and I believe that police in general should be defined and not allocated more funds. I also believe in a plan to help people that have drug problems and believe that we should not put them in jail.
PARTY: This aligns with the Republican party's stance, as the Republican party is Trump at the moment.
Gloria La Riva/Sunil Freeman, Peace and Freedom
La Rivas Stance: La Rivas stance is very much a socilist stance. They are Very concerned with mass incarceration and police brutality. They want to fully prosecute all acts of police brutality and violence and free Leonard Peltier, Mumia Abu-Jamal and all political prisoners.
Agree/Disagree: I agree with some parts. They do not have that much information on their website, so I can't really form an opinion on their party.
Party: Seems to agree with the peace and freedom party as a whole as both stances are inherently socilist.
Roque De La Fuente "Rocky" Guerra/Kanye Omari West, American Independent
De La Fuente Guerras Stance: A lot of Guerras' website is vague and not specific enough to draw conclusions about what his stance is on criminal justice. What I have gathered is that Guerra doesn't believe in criminalizing immigrants, and more education in school about social equality.
Agree/Disagree: I guess I agree with the little information that I was given.
Party: It agrees with the party.
Jo Jorgensen/Jeremy "Spike" Cohen, Libertarian
Jorgensen's Stance: Jorgensen's stance is that, there should be no law to prevent you from owning an object: whether it’s a gun to protect yourself or drugs for whatever reason you wish, if there is no victim, there is no crime, long gone is the friendly local patrol officer who walks the beat and knows everyone in the neighborhood by name.
Agree/Disagree: I dont one hundred percent agree with Jorgensens stance. I believe that the government should regulate gun control, and that there needs to be some laws regarding drug and alcohol use.
Party: Very much agree with the Libertarians parties stance, because they believe that the government should not be ankle to make law regarding things like guns, drugs and alcohol.
Joseph R. Biden/Kamala D. Harris, Democratic
Biden's Stance: Biden's stance is that we can and must reduce the number of people incarcerated in this country while also reducing crime, our criminal justice system must be focused on redemption and rehabilitation, offering second chances, and too many people with mental health or substance use disorders end up incarcerated.
Agree/Disagree: I very much agree with Biden's stance, and that we should be focusing on this and trying to get the mass incarnation rates down.
Party: Agrees with the Democratic party because Biden is the Democratic party at the moment.

Election 202 Presidential Candidates Assessment
Green Party (Howie Hawkins / Angela Nicole Walker)
Monitor and Prosecute White Racist Terrorists
Federal Investigations of Local Police Misconduct
Community Control of the Police
End Mass Incarceration—Treat Drug Abuse as a Health Problem, Not a Criminal Problem
Legalize Marijuana
Decriminalize Personal Possession of Hard Drugs
Drug Treatment on Demand
Decriminalize Sex Work
Fight Corporate Crime
End Warrantless Mass Surveillance
Pardon Whistle Blowers and Political Prisoners
I agree strongly with pretty much everything on this list but there are a couple that I think could be worded a little bit better or I am just misinterpreting what it says. The one that bugs me the most is, “End Warrantless Mass Surveillance” because I can’t tell if it is saying there should be camera like in the streets because people don’t consent to them? If that is the case, then I do not agree with that at all because I think cameras are necessary to catching crime and maybe even preventing crime because they know they will be on camera. I really like the what they are saying about the policemen and how they have to be held accountable for their actions and just because they are are policemen, it doesn’t mean they just have the right to do anything with no consequences. I think legalizing weed would be smart because it is proven to be not as bad for you as alcohol and people don’t become aggressive so maybe people will make the switch to weed as they already are.
The beliefs of these candidates to coincide with the beliefs of the rest of the political platform which would be expected in my opinion because if they didn’t then why wouldn’t the candidates just run under a different party unless they knew they couldn’t compete with Biden and Trump.
Republican Party (Donald Trump / Mike Pence)
-As we all know by now, Donald Trump loves his “Men in Blue”, which I respect, but there is one problem. Donald Trump will rarely admit something they have done is wrong when in reality, they do a lot of things wrong and they need a quick reform and that would just be a start to getting this country to come closer together but he is a very stubborn person and will likely never do that. Donald Trump has given money to cities to help them restore their equipment when in reality, what they need is longer, stricter, harder, and better training. Students should not be criminalized for what they believe in.
I agree with Donald Trump in the fact that policemen are very important. I personally do not think policemen are doing more harm than good on the individual basis, but the many people are perceiving this whole situation is that all policemen are bad because a few cops are and with social media, the bad videos are obviously going to go viral much quicker than the good videos. With this being said, the few bad cops are making all the good cops look bad and so people could say that “policemen are doing more harm than good” but I think policemen get too bad of a reputation because of a few sick and cruel cops. I am not agreeing or disagreeing because didn’t put this on his website, but policemen definitely need more training and it needs to be harder to become a policeman. I do not understand why he can’t see that even with the few bad cops, people are just asking for a change and they aren’t getting it so they will continue to be angry.
This website agrees with the republican website and I wouldn’t even be surprised if the people who made the Republican Party website helped out with the Donald Trump Website and vice versa.
Peace and Freedom (Gloria la Riva / Sunil Freeman)
End mass incarceration and police brutally and end racism.End mass incarceration of oppressed and all working class people. Fully prosecute all acts of police brutality and violence. Free Leonard Peltier, Mumia Abu-Jamal and all political prisoners!
After reading through the rest of their ideals, it is really difficult for me to say that I would identify with this group or agree with them. I don’t think very much time was put into this website because one of their points was just, “end racism.” Ok... and how are you going to do that? That is what I want to know. I can’t say everyone, because there are always exceptions, but 99.9% of the United States wants to end racism. Saying that doesn’t help whatsoever. They gave no suggestion on how to end racism but if for some reason they were elected all of the sudden racism would just end? This website sort of gets on my nerves the more I read about it. This is sort of off topic, but one of the points made on this website is “Shut down all U.S. military bases around the world—bring all the troops, planes & ships home.” In my opinion, this is just super dumb. Yes, nobody likes war, but if you shut down all the military bases everywhere then all of the United States citizens will be at risk and people will come tot he United States to attack. It seems as if whoever wrote this website doesn’t think that there are still bad people in this world except for cops. I don’t see how a platform can have so much hate towards policemen but yet have faith in the rest of the world to not harm our citizens. I could have interpreted this whole thing wrong but it was really weird reading this and thinking that people actually believe in it. I do agree for the most part about the criminal justice though.
For the most part, this website agrees with the party platform but the party platform website was much broader than this website. This website went into like a few specific case scenarios but didn’t really cover the overarching theme.
American Independent (Rogue de la Fuente “Rocky” Guerra / Kanye Omari West)
-Dear Mr. Rocky de la Fuente, The issue I am concerned about isc riminal justice. I am concerned about this issue because because it is a very big issue in 2020 and different candidates want to handle it in different ways. I am currently a senior at Acalanes High School and I am researching this issue for my senior Government class. Please clarify your stance on this issue. Thank you so much for your time and good luck.
Sincerely, Mitchell Franklin
(Yes this was sent, I just put it here so I could fill the space with something. If he responds, then I will edit this blog post)
Libertarian (Jo Jorgensen / Jeremy “Spike” Cohen)
-We claim to be the “Land of the Free” but yet we lead the world in incarcerations. This is not to say that we should should just start letting people out of jail, but she thinks that if the crimes are not violent and if they are are drug related, then those people need help more than anything which I completely agree with. Putting them in prison will just make them even worse and maybe even turn violent. There should be no law that prohibits a person from owning an object. Whether that object is a gun, or if it is a drug. If there is no victim, there will be no crime which means she will decriminalize everyone who falls underneath that umbrella.
I agree with what Jo says because people are getting put in prison way too easily as if it is going to make them a better person. It is a known fact that putting people in prison will not make them a better person. In fact, more times than not, it makes them a worse person. What these people need is education. I disagree with the fact that all frugs should be legal. I think I interpreted that right from what she said because she said “owning an object should not criminalize anyone” but the fact of the matter is, with the worse drugs, people get addicted, then they resort to stealing which has a victim so why not just stop that from the beginning. I think they should but other than that, I really like her ideas of keeping the non violent people out of jail because it will only make them worse.
This is pretty much exactly what the party platform website said. Both this website, and the party platform liked to focus on having less people in prison and not convicting people of crimes that are not violent.
Democratic Party (Joe Biden / Kamala Harris)
-Today, too many people are incarcerated in the United States – and too many of them are black and brown. To build safe and healthy communities, we need to rethink who we’re sending to jail, how we treat those in jail, and how we help them get the health care, education, jobs, and housing they need to successfully rejoin society after they serve their time.
1. Our criminal justice system cannot be just unless we root out the racial, gender, and income-based disparities in the system.
2.Our criminal justice system must be focused on redemption and rehabilitation.
3. No one should be profiteering off of our criminal justice system.
I completely agree with all three of these main points. There was one more main point, but it was sort of summarized in the top section. The bottom one is really important. If people are making a profit off of incarcerating people (not the government because it is insanely expensive to house inmates) then they will want to keep having people incarcerated so that needs to stop, and if Biden is elected, his plan is to make sure that doesn’t happen. Another one is making sure the policemen are not being racist and if they are, they need to be punished because there is a very large number of black and brown people and part of that is because due to the people who arrest them in the first place.
This website is very similar to the Democratic website because these are the Democrats who are running for office. Both websites focused on focusing in on reforming the police foundation and incarcerating less people which is very important to a healthy community, state and nation

From the BLM list
See You Yesterday - I think this is basically my ideal genre. It’s like a young adult sci-fi current events type thing about time travel, and I 100% can’t believe I didn’t hear about it when it was released. I feel so bad for the main girl because I see her thought process in what she’s doing, but everything goes so wildly off the rails and IT’S NOT HER FAULT or maybe it is? There’s a lot to think about! But I love CJ the MOST.
The Longshots - This movie is a little predictable, but Keke Palmer is my fave, and pretty much all the characters are so wholesome and likeable, especially Ice Cube. This is a very nice family movie.
First Match - This is a little similar to the previous movie in premise, but definitely has a darker vibe. Omari is a great friend to Mo, but Lucila was the best! She deserves everything she wants in the world for dealing with so much bullshit and not being a bitch about it even ONCE!
Roxanne Roxanne - I’m on the fence about Shante’s mother–she obviously cared enough about her kids to save up for them and try to keep them in school, but she was so mean when she was drinking. Shante herself is a really compelling character, and I honestly really respected her hustle even when she was being rude and kind of dumb, but besides that, the pacing was pretty slow honestly. I feel bad that she has such a sad story, and her dude was utmost trash. But I love her.
Juwanna Mann - So I thought this would be like Tootsie but less white. Overall, they’re similar in the things that I disliked, but I found this one a lot more watchable, maybe because the jokes are better? (“This is blackmail.” “No, this is black FEMALE”) Don’t get me wrong–the bad things are still bad: the main dude is dishonest and predatory, the trans cop is a joke, and for some reason no one is doing a physical examination of a pro athlete? Also, WHO was doing Juwanna’s perfect, immovable makeup? Beyond the many unbelievable things–I draw the line at her eyeshadow. My favorite moment is Puff Smokey Smoke learning his true desires in the middle of a basketball game, and my favorite character is Jamal’s Aunt Ruby.
Malcolm X - This movie is LONG. The middle-to-end part was pretty interesting, where he turns his life around, and I think the movie did a good job of showing all the personal flaws he had and not idealizing them, but if I hadn’t been watching with someone I just don’t think it would have held my interest for the entire time.
These are hard to rank because they’re all so different (obviously I didn’t limit t any one cohesive theme or genre), but I would definitely recommend the first 3, with STRONG bias to See You Yesterday, just because of the main character.

I wanted more names for my scrivener so I looked up a long ass list of names and formatted it to be uploaded by scrivener for the random name generator.

Pathetically Self-conscious Losers (SSBHM)
Themes: mutual self-consciousness, omegaverse but no mpreg mentioned
Words: 2815
Part: 1/1
Jamal swallowed heavily, instinctively sucking in his gut. He checked the address on the website again. The building number checked out, but there was nothing on the door to indicate this was what he was looking for. Uncertain, he looked around. There was an omega sitting on a shaded bench nearby. With a resigned sigh, Jamal approached him.
“Um, hi, excuse me?”
The man startled, glancing up at him and then quickly hiding behind his mop of black hair.
“Y-yes?”
“Are you waiting for the Speed Dating event as well? I’ve got the address here but I think I might be at the wrong spot.”
“Oh, no, no…” The man shook his head vehemently “I could never do that. I’m just people-watching.”
“What do you mean?” Jamal asked, feeling like this conversation was getting out of control already; this is why he hated talking to people!
“It’s nothing creepy!” The omega hastened to say, almost shoving a thick sketchpad in Jamal’s face “I draw c-comics… I mean, never mind, I’m sorry, I don’t know where your event is.”
“Can I sit down?” Jamal asked, against his better judgement.
The omega stiffened for a moment, but eventually nodded hesitantly, still hiding behind his cloud of hair. Jamal sat down, forcing himself not to grunt as his gut immediately strained against his shirt and his belt mercilessly dug into his underbelly. As casually as he could, he leaned back, spreading his thick legs slightly, to make room between them for his overhang. He saw the omega glance at his body but quickly looked away in embarrassment. Of course. Jamal was glad the omega was not looking at him anymore because he was sure his forehead was already coated with sweat.
“Are those your drawings…?” He asked, unsure why when the omega was so clearly not interested in him.
“Mhm,” He nodded, placing the book in his lap. His hand hovered over the cover for a moment before he flipped it open.
The pages were dense with all kinds of drawings, mostly of people and an occasional animal. They were done in an exaggerated, confident style with so much expression it honestly surprised Jamal.
“Wow, these are fantastic! You’re so good!” He exclaimed, genuinely impressed.
The omega finally looked at him from behind his curly mane. He smiled and Jamal glimpsed a wide flat nose, large lips and cheeks with a heavy spattering of angry acne.
“T-thanks, it’s not much…”
“I mean it, they’re really good. You’re very talented.”
The omega went to brush his hair away from his face but seemed to suddenly remember himself and dropped his hand.
“Why are you hiding behind your hair?” Jamal asked, not sure what on Earth possessed him to say that.
“I don’t like people looking at my face…”
“Because of the acne?” Again, what the fuck was going on with him, why was he suddenly Mr. Direct? And if his brain chose that day to rid him of his crippling self-doubt, couldn’t it have waited for the Speed Dating event at least?
The omega nodded.
“It’s ugly…”
“It’s not ugly.” Jamal said with conviction “It’s just skin, nobody has perfect skin.”
“Most people have better skin than me though…”
“It’s not ugly,” Jamal repeated.
The omega looked at him again. He had very large, brown eyes and arched eyebrows. Jamal had to admit, the acne was severe, but it didn’t make him any less pretty.
“I’m Omari.” The omega said.
“Jamal,” Jamal said, praying to whoever would listen that he wasn’t sweating as much as he thought he was “Ironically enough,” he added with an awkward chuckle.
“What? What do you mean?”
“Jamal means handsome in Arabic.” He explained “I was adopted, but my white mother, bless her heart, didn’t want to erase my heritage and kept it. If I’m honest I wished she gave me some generic white name like Logan or something.”
“I think it suits you,” Omari said shyly.
Jamal looked away, his face hot. His flirting was one thing, but someone flirting back? That has never happened to him in his life. Suddenly, he had the urge to run away, but his fat ass didn’t stand a chance.
Before he could come up with something to say, Omari spoke again.
“I think your event is starting.” he pointed to the building. Jamal followed his finger and sure enough, a steady line of pampered omegas and alphas in suits was pouring into the building.
“Yeah, seems like it.”
“You should go, or you will be late.”
“Or I could sit here and people-watch with you?” Who was he? Was he actually flirting with an omega he just met randomly out in public?
“But you paid for it?”
“Yeah, but it’s pointless.” He waved it off “Omegas are never interested in me anyway. I mean, obviously…”
“Why not? You’re handsome.” Omari said with the same firmness with which Jamal just told him acne didn’t matter. Were they actually flirting or were they just two self-conscious losers trying to make each other feel better?
“I’m barely 5’10 and 500 lb.” He pointed out, staring at the massive gut hanging between his legs.
“What does that have to do with you being handsome?”
“I supposed the same thing your acne has to do with you being pretty.”
Oh, dear Lord, they were both. They were pathetically self-conscious losers who WERE flirting.
“So,” Jamal said after a moment of awkward silence “Teach me to people-watch.”
Omari chuckled, breaking the awkward spell.
Somehow, an hour later, Jamal waddled to his car with an omega’s phone number in his pocket and without even going into the Speed Dating event.
Could it be, were things finally coming up Jamal?
*
Things were not coming up Jamal. He was trying to find something flattering to wear for his date, but everything he owned made him look like a hog trying to stuff itself into human clothes. When he managed to somewhat contain his enormous belly his love handles would pop out, if he managed to cover them, his ass would stick out ten times more than it usually did. There was a shirt that looked good both around his belly and love handles, it even went well with the only pair of pants that wasn’t obscenely tight around his massive ass, but it, in turn, made his breasts look enormous and showed off his back rolls.
He gave up with a dramatic sigh, flopping down onto the bed like a beached whale and pulled out his phone.
“Hello?”
“Hey, it’s Jamal.”
“Are you cancelling the date…?” Omari sounded as if that was exactly what he was expecting.
“What? No, of course not! I was just wondering if maybe instead of a dinner we could go to a movie?”
“Oh yes, please.”
Jamal laughed.
“You sound relieved.”
“I really don’t like restaurants… Too many lights…”
“I’m not a fan of the dress code myself.”
“A movie sounds perfect.”
“Alright, I’ll check what’s playing and text you.”
He hung up and couldn’t help a relieved sigh. Sitting in the dark for two hours without Omari getting any chance to look at his huge body? Score.
*
When they arrived at the cinema, everything seemed perfectly fine. Jamal was hiding in his baggiest clothes and Omari was basically a head of hair without a face. The spirits were high.
“It’s been ages since I’ve seen an Indiana Jones movie,” Omari said. He was almost the same height as Jamal. As if the fact he couldn’t wear anything but a 7XL hoodie didn’t make him self-conscious enough, he also had to find the tallest Omega in America.
“I don’t even know which one was the previous one” he mused.
The head of hair made a humming sound.
“I don’t know either.”
Jamal laughed but didn’t manage to reply as they were the next ones up to be served.
“Hello, two for Indiana Jones, please.”
“I’m sorry” The Beta said and her sour smile told Jamal she was the furthest thing from sorry. “There is a weight limit of 350 lb on the theatre seats.”
Jamal finally understood what it meant when people claimed their souls left their bodies.
“He’s 350 lb,” Omari said firmly.
The cashier turned her disgustingly fake smile on him.
“No, he’s not.” She said slowly, her smile turning even more fake. “I’m so sorry!”
“You could’ve told us sooner, you saw us waiting,” Omari said. “Come on” He grabbed Jamal’s hand and pulled him away. Jamal was thankful because he doubted his body could move out of its own volition.
As they were passing the queue, he heard snickers and someone shouting “fatass!” very obviously as he passed. He was sure that if his soul left his body already, it would have now left the planet entirely.
They left the cinema and began walking down the street in silence. They passed a brightly coloured Ice Cream parlour and Jamal stopped, gazing through the glass longingly.
“Oh, I could do with an ice cream cone, or three.” he let out a sigh “But I shouldn’t.”
“Neither should I”
“What? Why?” He asked, looking at Omari’s lean, delicate body.
“Flares up my acne.”
“Oh.” Jamal looked at the display cases inside for a moment longer “It’s worth it.” He said firmly.
Omari laughed. He was still holding Jamal’s hand and he now pulled him into the Ice Cream parlour.
Minutes later they were sitting in a booth waiting, having ordered at the counter.
“Isn’t the table digging into your belly?” Omari asked, cocking his head.
Jamal looked away, mortified.
“Yeah, but I don't think the chairs at the tables are sturdy enough to hold me up.” He admitted. But it was fine, his soul had already left his body a long time ago, and it couldn’t get any more humiliating.
Omari, for some unfathomable reason, dove under the table. When he emerged Jamal glimpsed one eye and a piece of mouth behind the mass of hair.
“It’s not bolted down! Just push it, I’m gonna pull it.”
Jamal wanted to protest, but the truth was, that he could barely breathe. With a nod, he pushed. Omari pulled the table towards himself and soon, although it was still a tight squeeze, Jamal could breathe.
“Thanks,” He said, meaning it.
“No problem” Omari’s warm fingers gently touched his. “I’m sorry about the theatre…”
“Nope, I’m repressing that,” Jamal said firmly.
“Alright, I respect that.” Omari nodded.
The waitress arrived, placing two Sundaes on the table. Omari’s was pretty with one blue scoop, one pink and one purple, with a swirl of whipped cream and a blueberry syrup drizzle.
“Forest fruits?” Jamal guessed.
“Wow, you really know your ice cream!”
“I really, really do.” He said with an embarrassed chuckle, patting his enormous gut.
It didn’t escape Jamal’s notice his Sundae was almost twice as large as Omari’s.
“What’s yours?” Omari asked, taking to the tippy-top of the whipped cream swirl with his spoon and popping his into his mouth. It was adorable.
“Chocolate, salted caramel, hazelnut, cookies and cream, I believe that one is just called “Twix”, we have caramel…”
“You already said caramel.”
“Oh no, no. For you see, this one is salted caramel, this one is unsalted caramel.”
Omari laughed.
“There’s peanut butter here, a classic vanilla here…”
“Peanut butter? I didn’t know they made ice cream like that.” Omari’s eye emerged from behind the hair again to peer at Jamal’s ice cream.
“Have a taste!” He offered immediately, diving expertly in, to scoop a spoonful of the specific flavour. Without thinking he outstretched the spoon to Omari. After a moment’s hesitation, the omega pulled his hair a little to the side to take Jamal’s spoon into his mouth.
“Ooooh!” Omari’s face lit up in excitement. “It’s so good!”
Jamal laughed. “I’m glad I could teach you something useful today.”
Omari smiled shyly and went to pull his hair over his face.
“Please don’t.”
One eye peered at Jamal questioningly, hand still poised halfway to his face.
“I’m super flared up right now…” Omari said weakly. It was true, his cheek was dark with inflamed cysts and zits.
“It’s okay, Omari.” He reached over the table. “Please don’t hide. I want to see your face.”
“But…”
“I want to see my date’s face.” Jamal insisted with a gentle smile, but Omari still looked terrified. “How about this, what if you just uncover your face on this side, facing the wall? Nobody will see except for me.”
With a tiny sight, Omari pushed his hair back, revealing the right side of his face fully. The acne spread his entire cheek and went up to his temple. It really was bad, he could understand why Omari was self-conscious, but at the same time… He didn’t give a fuck about it. He couldn’t even if he tried.
Omari peered at him anxiously, as if expecting Jamal would spit in his face.
“Listen, I know you won’t believe me, but I’m gonna say it anyway. Your acne doesn’t make you any less pretty. Now, eat your ice cream, before it melts.”
Omari said nothing, just took his spoon back up and scooped another spoonful of whipped cream into his mouth.
“I went on a Tinder date once” Omari said and Jamal couldn’t understand how someone could look so defeated while eating a gorgeous Sundae. Wow, he really was a fucking fatass, wasn’t he? “He saw my face and literally walked out.”
“Well, you’re in luck” Jamal said lightly “I’m not walking out of here until this Sundae is completely gone. And I’m pretty sure you’ll have to help me wedge out of this booth anyway. You should’ve gone on a date with a fatass sooner”
Omari laughed weakly.
“Hey, Jamal… You don’t have to joke about your body, you know that, right?”
“What?” He asked, unfortunately with a mouthful of chocolate drizzle and whipped cream.
“You don’t have to justify your existence with humour.”
“That was uncomfortably perceptive.”
“I told you, I people-watch a lot.”
Jamal said nothing, it was his turn to look defeated while eating ice cream.
“I think you’re very handsome,” Omari said bluntly, making Jamal almost choke with caramel ice cream. He couldn’t help but vaguely not that it would be his preferred way to die.
“Can we make a packt?”
“What?”
“I will accept that I’m handsome if you accept that you’re pretty.”
Omari stared at him. After a moment, he shrugged philosophically.
“Fine.” He said “We can make it even more interesting. “I will keep my face uncovered if you stop joking about your body.”
Jamal frowned. That would take away ninety per cent of what he had to say, but if that meant he could see Omari’s face, then he was willing to make the sacrifice.
“Deal.”
“Deal.”
*
He was sweaty and stuffed uncomfortably full of ice cream, his enormous thighs were rubbing painfully together which made him waddle even more than usual. But he didn’t care, because Omari was holding his hand as they walked to the parking lot.
“This is my car,” Omari said, stopping. His face was uncovered and Jamal hungrily took every detail of it in. “I really enjoyed our date.”
“So did I, thank you for coming out with me” Jamal smiled and Omari smiled back. They stood still for a moment.
“Are you… going to kiss me or should I just get into the car and stop making it weird?” Omari laughed nervously.
“Oh!” Jamal was startled by the fact that was even an option. The only other two dates he’d ever been on ended exactly like that. With a moment of awkward silence in front of the car and no return phone calls. “I’m sorry, yes, I-I would like that.”
“Well?” Omari laughed again, spreading his arms expectedly.
“Yes, I’m sorry!” Jamal stepped up to him. He misjudged the distance and bumped Omari with his enormous gut. Omari stumbled back, landing against the driver's side door. Horrified beyond belief, Jamal surged forward to apologise but somehow ended up stumbling and crashing into the omega with his entire bulk.
“Well, that’s now exactly what I meant, but I’ll take it,” Omari said with a cheeky smile. He gently placed his hands on Jamal’s thick love handles.
Swallowing heavily, he placed one hand on Omari’s neck and the other on the back of his head; not wanting to touch his face and irritate the skin.
Turning his head slightly and with a shaky breath, he closed the distance between them and kissed Omari’s soft lips. It felt unreal.
When they parted, Omari smiled at him.
“You taste like ice cream.”
“So do you.”
They both chuckled, going back in for a second, longer kiss.
Some minutes later, Jamal waddled back to his car unable to stop the goofy smile from spreading across his face.
Things were finally coming up Jamal.
