#but it’s really interesting how most other characters only consider the Holt half a monster

One of my favorite thing the more supernatural adaptations of Jekyll & Hyde do is debate whether Jekyll/Hyde should be considered a monster. Like, he doesn’t have that immediate classic monster recognition that others like frankenstein’s creature has, but obviously Hyde is quite monstrous. But Hyde is also an inherent part of every human. And he looks human, usually, so not everyone who meets him really clocks him as a monster. I mean, is a man who can turn into another man a monster? What if they don’t even look any different? What exactly puts them in the monster category?

Plans for Updates
//So yeah.. With the Zaun updating coming and leaving, I think it’s time to see how exactly this would change. Obviously ZAC underwent a massive change but these changes will affect Twitch as well. I will simply go down the list of things that I will need to consider. As mentioned before, I’m going to do a semi-canon blog. While there are some things that I liked about the zac lore, there’s obviously some things I hated. Surprisingly, I’m more in favor for the new lore than initially thought. So let’s try to go down the list.
How Zaun Views ZAC:
I’m definitely going to be divergent on this one. This was one of the aspects I really really hates. Seeing what was once the hero of zaun and defender of the innocent being demoted to an emotionally unstable myth that just sits in the pipes all day is aggravating to me, and I don’t feel comfortable rping as that since they have reasons to believe that. (Angry ZAC sucks) So this means, I’ll stick with the old lore’s view of seeing ZAC as a hero. The way I’m seeing it is that ZAC is still a myth, but he’s more known for his good deeds than his bad ones. He’s a hero working under the shadows and pipes of Zaun. He saves lives, but no one really knows where he comes from. I want to preserve the Zaunites view of him as a hero rather than a monster.
ZAC Himself:
I don’t know what to think of ZAC anymore.. After this week I don’t. First and foremost, he’s still keeping his lovable hero personality. It’s seen in both lores and it’s probably the best thing about ZAC. Additionally, I am keeping his sensitivity to other people’s emotions and his reactive personality as character traits NOT biological traits. I feel like both are great flaws in their own right and having them be more naturally makes ZAC’s character a lot identifiable. It’s a good fit.
As for his backstory, most of the 1st half is the same in both lores, however, I will lean towards the new lore’s ending. I do feel like the ending leaves a lot more mystery behind him and gives him a rather incomplete story for me to easily fill. Additionally, the parents death, while trite and disney-ish, does give us a lot of stuff to work with. His relationship with Twitch is strengthened. His optimistic personality is shown to be more potent. The more I see it, the more I believe that these deaths are actually a boon for me. Heck, the parent’s death is scheduled to be a drabble arch after the clone M!A. Surprisingly as much as I don’t like it, I am leaning more towards the new lore on this one, even though I don’t agree with the mood ring / super empathy mechanic at all. There’s just more of an interesting identity there and I will go analyze sometime later.
Twitch and ZAC’s Relationship:
You know what I said about the deaths being a boon. Yeah, this is probably the number one reason why. Since ZAC can’t go outside of the pipes because screw Takeda Holt and most of his parents are dead, Twitch is the only person he could probably legitimately talk to at this moment. Because of this, it’s very close of a relationship. Twitch sees ZAC as not only his first sentient subject, but also the first person he can actually trust, and since Twitch is reminiscent of a skaven, that’s kinda huge. Additionally this friendship probably lasted longer since ZAC had a habit of going into the pipes even with his parents around. I estimate around 5 years.
So here’s how I kinda envisioned it. My story on how Twitch and ZAC meet is probably still the same. Twitch kills ZAC. He then makes a potion out of him. ZAC explodes out of the potions. And then their friends. Boom. But then it all changes when the parents die. That’s when ZAC fully becomes Twitch’s subject, but because Twitch has grown to love the weapon for around 5 years, he treats him a lot nicer than you would think. He does keeps lies from ZAC to not have him pummel him to death, but it’s still really really close. Twitch would probably see ZAC as the best subject for the sewer king and ZAC sees Twitch as his only family now. And no they’re not shipped.
