I went to a David Bowie tribute performance yesterday and RAAHHHHHH UGHHGU Pictures weren’t allowed and I want to draw this man SO BAD!!

Almost had the greatest night of my life tonight I am fucking buzzing

I saw The Outsiders musical yesterday and it was awesome!

Ok ok I just saw hadestown, I had an extremely high fever the whole time which made for an interesting experience and I think I forgot a bunch but here’s an attempt to remember some of the things that stick out to me:

Hannah Whitleys voice was soooo good, much deeper than I expected and just really raw and emotional she made me want to cry

The pianist was SO into it he was so much fun to watch

I play violin and when I say that the strings part in all I’ve ever known made me teary

Hades and Persephone were more physically affectionate than I expected in a way that came off as interestingly aggressive in act one - she drunkenly kissed him goodbye in road to hell and he ignored, he stroked her arm in why we build the wall and she like, shuddered. It was great.

Persephone and Eurydice interact a lot in livin it up on top which was interesting because it sounds even more like Persephone is scolding her for not appreciating what she’s got

The theater I was at has a big open pit and all the fog at the end of act one pooled up in there and so when the lamps swung out during wait for me they lit up the fog beneath the stage it was awesome

J Antonio Rodriguez was playing Orpheus and his voice was EXCELLENT but also he had the perfect innocent Orpheus awkwardness with perfect comedic timing

In when the chips are down at the “you get a knife in the back” part Eurydice spasmed on the ground like she’d been stabbed

Emily Fredrickson literally has my whole heart (I follow her on Insta and it brings me so much joy) and she tipped her hat at the end of the trombone solo where she’s down on the stage and I loved it

Doubt comes in is so oppressively, intensely lonely. It’s so dark and cold and it’s almost painful how well you can understand Orpheus

The doors to the underworld opening and closing like some sort of horrible mechanical jaw had an excellent effect (although I think they missed an opportunity by not having them slide vertically like train doors)

Eurydice really seemed like she was friends with all the workers and they all had little moments and relationships

Uh yeah that’s all I can think of for now I may be back with more later

I finished this comic about a month ago but couldn't bring myself to post it. It started as a simple illustration and then I just kept adding more and more and at some point I had to stop myself and cut the story short. I'm still not entirely satisfied with the result but... well. I like it. That's enough.
