it’s not that i particularly dislike queer content, but i also... don’t particularly like it either? like i’m happy to ship and let ship, but the way tumblr treats queer relationships is just... i wish i had a word for that cloyingly saccharine kind of lauding tumblr gives them.

i remember someone publicly confessed to pretending they were trans when they weren’t because they got no shit for what they shipped when they said they were queer, and the unanimous response to this was ‘how fucking dare you insult our identities like this.’ like, yeah, it’s a pretty icky thing to do, but i think it illustrates the double standard pretty well. it’s not real equality tumblr strives for, because the mindset isn’t ‘lets all have an equal say in this’ but ‘queer is right, right is might, and might is right.’

at this point, straight ships are much smaller, and their fans, if they’re not necessarily better, are at least less holier than thou—honestly, the more “problematic” the ship, the likelier you are to find decent people to enjoy it with—and, by necessity of being smaller, have less assholes.

which is a very roundabout way to say that i only really ship crack queer ships, and that’s because tumblr hasn’t groped them all over with its obsessive black-or-white 'Everything Must Be Queer Or It’s Shit’ dogma, and i’m a little worried about being prosecuted for it.
