Code of Silence

Coming to Ao3 on 12/13/2024
Rated E | 57,000 words | Graphic Descriptions of Violence
Hollywood, 1955: LAPD Officer Dean Winchester doesnât mind throwing a punch or fudging the evidence if it means getting wife beaters and cold-blooded criminals behind bars. That approach doesnât sit too well with his younger brother and colleague Sam, whoâs been making enemies at the LAPD with his straight-laced, by-the-book philosophy. Between trying to keep up with the job and looking out for his brother, Dean doesnât have much time for happiness. Not until he meets Castiel, a handsome escort who is everything Dean never knew he wanted. Unfortunately, Castiel is also caught up in a criminal conspiracy that reaches far into the LAPD itself. To expose the departmentâs corruption and save Castiel, Dean and Sam will have to put aside their differences â and reckon with a dark secret in their familyâs past.
[Keep reading for a sneak preview!]
When he drew level, he chanced a glance over at the other man, who turned when he sensed that heâd become a subject of scrutiny.
Deanâs breath stopped in his throat. The manâs jaw was sharp as a word spoken in anger, his skin pale and clean-shaven. Long, graceful fingers played idly with one of the free Funtime Liquors matchbooks as he waited. His eyes promised mischief and mysteries. Dean wouldnât have been surprised to learn the man had just stepped out of a movie screen.
Too late, he realized he was staring, and then only because the manâs plump lips had twitched slightly on one side.
Dean cleared his throat. âMerry Christmas,â he said.
âMerry Christmas to you too, officer,â the man returned.
Dean flinched, feeling caught out. Whoever the man was, he was clearly smart if plainclothes didnât fool him. âThat obvious?â he asked.
When Dean chanced another glance at the man, he was still looking back, humor glinting in his eyes. âItâs practically stamped on your forehead.â
Maybe Dean ought to have taken that for the dismissal it likely was, but the bit of humor in the manâs gaze felt almost akin to a smile. Most men wouldnât smile at someone they wanted gone.
âHavenât I seen you in a movie?â Dean tried.
The man dropped his head with a low, rough chuckle. Dean fought down a surge of embarrassment. A handsome man in a well-cut suit, five blocks from Graumanâs Chinese Theatre, where all the most glamorous Hollywood premieres took place? It wasnât too outrageous a guess.
Dean was about to tell the man ânever mindâ when he caught Deanâs eyes again and said, âItâs unlikely. Unless you happened to pay very close attention to Youth Number 3 in the opening scene of It Came From Saturn's Rings.â
âYou were in that?â Dean asked eagerly. This time, there was no fighting the heat on his face. He had a great weakness for science fiction movies, and he remembered seeing a screening of It Came From Saturn's Rings on opening night some three years back. Even working in Hollywood for as long as he had, heâd never stopped being a little starry-eyed about anybody whoâd graced the silver screen.
His question got him an interesting reaction: the manâs head tipped to the side, his eyes narrowing, the better to study Dean. For the first time, he seemed to put some actual stock in their conversation. âYouâve seen it?â
âYeah,â Dean confirmed, embarrassingly pleased to have found this patch of common ground between them. âIt was good.â
It hadnât been anything special, in truth, but the man was smiling in earnest now, one side of those plush lips curving up, and Dean thought heâd do just about anything to keep that smile going.

No okay but what Iâm so curious about is HOW is Sam listening to chester and noris read these statements in a completely human voice, pausing and annunciating and emphasizing words and phrases. Like yeah the computer just reads like a dramatic storyteller all the time man. not freaked out by this at all.ďżź
#to be fair he probably is like What the fuck#like everyone is normal about this because they donât rlly pay attention when these statements are read out loud#and an interest8nf detail I think is Alice made it seem like these readings arenât common#but it seems to be that with Sam they Are very common#but also#that could just be us only seeing those scenarios#who knows as we donât know the full story behind what is recording them and how etc etc#I mean we Know but we donât Know#if that makes sense#tmagp#the Magnus protocol#t

Loverboy
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x F!Reader
Word Count: 4.3k
Summary: Bucky, a lovesick, pining super soldier, vows to keep his feelings for you a secret â no matter how obvious his crush may seem. Those plans are ruined between a meddling Sam, an embarrassing fall, and a visit to the medbay with you.
Warnings: Avengers AU, Buckyâs POV, fluff, crack (my lame attempt at comedy), suggestive thoughts (no smut), just our boy being a lovesick little bean with a big olâ crush.
Authorâs Note: Dividers by @saradika. Proofread by @buckys-wintersoldier, thank you so much sweetie, I love you!! This was inspired by a wonderful request from @prettyboy56, thank you so much! Hope you enjoy x
âHi, Bucky.âÂ
Instantly, he sputtered over his mouthful of cereal, eyes watering from his food going down the wrong way.Â
Bucky knew that melodic voice before his gaze even reached its owner. You entered the kitchen, wiggling your fingers at him in greeting.Â
Clearing his throat, he swiped his bowl to the side, his breakfast now forgotten about, and directed his attention solely onto you. âHiâum hâhello, doll.âÂ
The muscles of your cheeks lifted up to your eyes in a smile that made Bucky swoon. Hard.
Your eyes fell to Sam then, who stood in the corner, fresh from a workout with a shit eating on his face. âGood morning, Samuel.âÂ
âMorninâ, beautiful. How did you sleep?âÂ
Bucky fought the growl rising in his throat, the unprecedented possessiveness caving its way through its internal barriers in your presence.Â
You grabbed a bottle of water out of the refrigerator and closed the door, leaning your back against it to take a big gulp.Â
âNot bad at all.â You licked your lips, ridding the dryness that came from a long slumber before your eyes lit up. âOh, by the way! I drank some of that tea you recommended. Itâs helped a bunchââ
Bucky zoned out while you continued to express your gratitude to Sam. He couldnât help the way his eyes dilated as he rested his head in the palm of his vibranium hand, a lovesick sigh escaping his lips. You were just so gorgeous â a deity in human form right in front of his own very eyes. Bucky had never considered himself so lucky in all his time on earth to be within your vicinity.Â
In his own world of oggling, Bucky didnât notice how the conversation fell short between you and Sam. Neither did he realise how the two of you were staring at him; you with concern and Wilson smothering his laughter with his hand.Â
âBucky? Sweetheart?â He finally registered that you were speaking to him and almost choked, again, on his own spit.
âMhm?â Bucky murmured, drunk off your attention.Â
You smiled once again, so devastatingly beautiful that his left arm whirred in stupor. âAre you okay? You feeling alright?â Not waiting for a response, you walked over to him and Bucky almost let his eyes roll to the back of his head when you lifted your wrist to his forehead. âJeez, youâre a little hot, Buck.âÂ
Sam keeled over in hysterics, unable to keep his composure any longer. Meanwhile, a bright red blossom of colour rose up from the skin of Buckyâs neck all the way up to his cheeks.Â
Had Bucky not been embarrassingly infatuated by you, the throwaway comment wouldnât have had any effect on him. But this was you. The woman who had the ability to make him melt on the spot.Â
While logic and a basic level of common sense screamed at him that you were talking about his temperature, his mind could only conjure up the fact you had called him hot.Â
Bucky saw your mouth moving, however he couldnât concentrate on the sound of the words coming out of it. You were still touching him, patting his cheeks and sweeping the tendrils of hair that had fell out from behind his ears out of his face. The close proximity of your bodies threw him through a loop and without even realising, his thighs spread further, subconsciously begging you to forego all boundaries and smother yourself against him.Â
Gently tapping his nose three times, you managed to gain his full attention again. âYou seem out of it, sweetie. Maybe you should go down to the medbay. See if youâre coming down with a fever or something.âÂ
Sam blew out a breath of air. âYeah, because thatâs whatâs wrong with him.âÂ
You threw a lighthearted glare his way before bringing your eyes back to Bucky. âPromise me youâll get seen to?âÂ
How could he refuse when you asked so sweetly? âAnything you want.â He vowed sincerely.Â
Scrunching your nose, you chucked his chin and whispered under your breath, âGood boy.â
Bucky almost whimpered when you withdrew your hands and stepped back. He so desperately wanted to follow you and nudge your arm until you paid attention to him once more. Your touch was fire and a cool breeze all at once. Electricity that created static across his stubbled cheek, yet also stoked a warmth through his entire body. Â
Peace. Heâd never felt anything like it. Never before felt drunk from just the delicate essence of a perfume or experienced the loosening of his limbs, relaxing until his legs felt like jelly whenever you so much as cast him a glance.Â
You grabbed a piece of fruit from the table, ready to go down to the gym and train. âCatch you later, Sam,â you called over your shoulder. Meeting Buckyâs eyes a final time, you winked while you headed for the elevator. âBye, sweetheart.â Â
Buckyâs gaze was glued to you, following you out hopelessly until you were completely out of sight.Â
He was fucked â well and truly out of his depth.Â
Sam crossed his arms and smirked. âYou are down bad, man.âÂ
Bucky swiped a hand over his face, sighing deeply. âFuckinâ tell me about it.âÂ
âThis is serious.â Sam sobered up, his lips softening into an honest smile.Â
With an embarrassingly loud thud against the island countertop, Bucky let his head drop. âI have no idea what to do, Sam. I thought this crush would have passed by now but itâs been months.â
âWell,â Sam raised an eyebrow. âHave you even tried asking her out?âÂ
âAnd why would I do that?â Bucky asked, genuinely confused.Â
Sam sputtered over his words. âWhat do you meanâBecause thatâs what people do when they like someone, you dumbass!âÂ
Bucky had lost enough braincells daydreaming about you constantly. He didnât need to be told what he already knew. But the pressure of asking you out to then have a chance of being rejected? He would never come back from that. âYeah, no thanks,â he mumbled.
âCome on, man. Whatâs the worst that could happen?â Sam asked.Â
Bucky lifted his head up and huffed sarcastically. âOh, I donât know. Maybe she could turn me down and rip my heart out into little pieces, so much that I would hide out in my room for the rest of eternity never to be seen again?âÂ
âNow youâre just being dramatic.â
Bucky sighed longingly. âLet me wallow in my misery alone, Sam.âÂ
âWhy? So you can spend your days staring at her with your googly eyes and drooling over her.âÂ
âI have never drooled over her,â Bucky snarled.Â
A twinkle shone in Samâs eye, a mischievous grin donning his face. âThen whatâs that on your chin?âÂ
Buckyâs eyes widened and he quickly brought his hand up to his face to check if he did in fact have any wetness coating his mouth. Finding none, he looked back to Sam with a scowl. âI hate you.â
Sam shook his head with laughter. âYou shouldnât make it so easy to tease you, loverboy.â Â
With a growl, Bucky lifted from his seat and stormed out of the kitchen.Â
The irritating voice followed him. âDonât forget training tomorrow morning, loverboy!âÂ
The sun was shining over the compound the next morning and so came the bright idea from Steve that all exercise activities should be held outside. While the recruits in training buffed up on their sparring with the Captain, the rest of the avengers worked out as they saw fit.Â
As usual, Sam took any opportunity possible to annoy Bucky, which brought them together, running laps around the outdoor track.Â
âWhen are you gonna man up and ask her out then, Cyborg? Pretty girl ainât gonna be available forever.âÂ
Bucky wasnât entirely sure why he didnât run ahead of Sam. It wasnât as if he couldnât. Maybe the pace he kept alongside Wilson allowed him to stare at you so clearly in your tight workout leggings and sports bra as sweat sensually rolled over your skin. Maybe.Â
âIâm not asking her out, Sam. Drop it.âÂ
Sam huffed out an annoyed breath. âListen, man. Itâs not as if youâve got nothing going for you. As much as youâre a grumpy shit, youâve got them blue eyes the chicks love. Gets them all gooey when you give them intense eye contact, yâknow?â He reluctantly added, âAnd they dig the brooding, bad boy, leather jacket vibe.â
Bucky let out a rare smile within the presence of Sam. âYou tryna hit on me, Wilson?âÂ
âLook, all Iâm saying is you have a chance.â Sam slyly glanced over the field. âAnd if you donât quit fuckinâ around, that chance is gonna disappear.â Â
The smile instantly dropped from Buckyâs face. âWhat do you mean by that?âÂ
Samâs signature smirk came back with vengeance. âYour girls lookinâ kinda cute today. So Iâm not sure if youâve noticed, but you ainât the only one whoâs got their eye on her.âÂ
Naturally, Bucky followed his instinct and let his eyes look over at you. You were a fucking wonder, of course he knew that. But heeding Samâs ominous warning, Bucky allowed his gaze to venture out, only allowing you to blur into the background for a couple of seconds while he took stock of the other male, and female, recruits.Â
Low and behold, plenty of other people wantonly stared at you while you completed your circuit, almost salivating over their barely concealed pining. As much as Bucky hated to admit it, the fucker was right. You were the pinnacle of everyoneâs attention.Â
With the way you were bending over, squatting and looking like an angel amidst the perspiration the sun brought on, Bucky wasnât sure if he could actually blame anyone for it.Â
That didnât stop the ugly, green eyed beast within him that wanted to tear everyoneâs eyes out for daring to glimpse at you.Â
It was silly, he knew he had no right to feel any sort of possessive nature for you. Unfortunately, you didnât belong to him. Still, he couldnât control the deep rooted urges that whispered the kinds of fun heâd have gouging out eyeballs that looked where they weren't supposed to.Â
Knowing he had stirred the pot enough, Sam figured it was time to try and hit the final nail in the coffin in order to make his friend move his ass. âYâknow what gives you an advantage though, man?âÂ
Bucky continued to death stare the surrounding agents, while keeping up with his steady jog. âWhatâs that?â
âGuess whoâs making eyes at you right now.âÂ
At breakneck speed, Bucky snapped his head back around to you, only to indeed find you staring at him with a fire in your eyes and your bottom lip trapped between your teeth.Â
A violent shudder ran down his spine and for a moment, the whole world stopped on its axis, allowing Bucky to revel in a daydream brought to life.Â
That was until his mind snapped him back into the present. The super soldier was majestic on his feet in a fight, graceful yet utterly dangerous out on the field even with the pressure a mission came with.Â
However to his utter bewilderment, you happened to be the most dangerous being he had ever come across, because in all of his years as a trained, professional assassin, Bucky had never, never, tripped over his own feet.Â
And so, inevitably, Buckyâs face ungracefully met the asphalt of the outside track with an audible thunk.Â
A collective of gasps, ooâs, and ahâs, rang around the large group. Bucky could physically feel the coating of red, hot embarrassment climbing up to his now scratched cheeks. Â
Bucky couldnât see the look of shame and pity on Samâs face as he dropped his head into his hands. All he was capable of was fantasizing faking his own death and moving far, far away where no one who witnessed his fall could ever find him. Â
With a painful, deep groan, Bucky managed to roll himself over. He couldnât bear to open his eyes and allow himself to accept reality yet and so he kept them closed, waiting for the ground to swallow him up or for the beaming sun to slowly incinerate him, melt him into the ground with his shame and dignity.Â
But instead of either of those, a shadow casted over him, the harsh brightness behind his eyelids dulling down. Slowly, he peeked an eye open, only for mortification to kick him in the gut when he found you standing over him.Â
âYou alright there, Soldier?â Your hands were set on your hips, those deliciously curved grooves of your body that he had shamelessly stared at one too many times during gym sessions.Â
âMhm,â he gulped, his Adamâs apple bobbing roughly. âJust peachy.âÂ
Even though youâd just seen him eat dirt, in front of hundreds of learning recruits and the rest of the avengers, your smile was kind as you held out your hand. âNeed some help?âÂ
Bucky took your offering, sliding his clammy palm into your dry one and hoisted himself up with your grip. He hadnât needed your help, he was a super soldier with a metal arm; an agility and strength beyond normal human ability. But he wouldnât pass up an opportunity to feel your soft skin against his.Â
He couldnât look you in the eye as he stood up, aware of your gaze glued to him. âTh-Thanks.âÂ
âItâs not a problem,â you said. âAlthough, youâve got a few nasty looking cuts on your cheeks.âÂ
Bucky brought his left hand up to his face, hissing when the cool vibranium stung the open wounds. âAh, itâs nothinââdon't worry about it. Nothing a few hours wonât fix.âÂ
You shook your head fondly. âWell, how about I walk you to the infirmary and we get some ointment on them? It wouldnât hurt to be cautious.âÂ
Bucky choked on his own spit and snapped his eyes to yours. âW-We?âÂ
Your smile was blinding â so beautiful with an ability to stop time. At least for him anyway. âYeah, why not? It looks like you could use a handâyâknow, since youâre a little clumsy on your feet today.â The cheeky smirk that followed your words almost sent him to an early grave.
His cheeks blazed. Bucky was sure he looked utterly stupid, with his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. But he couldnât help the effect you had on him. âI umâIâ ha, I guess.âÂ
Your eyes glinted mischievously. âIâll take that as a yes?âÂ
Not trusting his voice to hold steady, Bucky simply nodded.Â
âGreat,â you approved. âJust one question though, are we going to keep holding hands on the way?â
Looking down to the space between you, Bucky felt his mouth dry when he saw that he hadnât yet released his hand from yours. âIâmâoh fuckâIâm so sorry.âÂ
Still, he made no move to slacken his grip.Â
You tightened your lips, and he knew you were willing yourself not to laugh for his sake. Sam would have a fucking field day with this.Â
Though to his surprise, instead of pulling away like he expected you to, you began pulling him along, hands still interweaved. âLetâs go get you cleaned up, Bucky.â Â
His name on your lips was akin to a siren singing her song; dragging helpless seamen to their deaths. A thought crossed his mind then, that he didnât think he would mind so much if he sank to his reckoning, not if your voice was the last thing he ever heard.Â
âOkay.â Bucky followed you blindly, eyes glued to your conjoined hands and disbelieving of his luck.Â
You had led the way towards the medbay and found a cozy, private room that the doctors used for small injuries. Bucky sat impatiently on the side of the medical bed, twiddling his thumbs and fidgeting restlessly. Never had he been so close to you, alone.Â
Bucky internally prayed with all his faith that you couldnât hear the rapid staccato of his heartbeat. He was sure if he was hooked up to a monitor, the doctors would be thoroughly concerned about his health.Â
Finally having gathered all the supplies you deemed necessary along with a first aid box, you walked back over to the bed and dumped everything next to him.Â
âSo,â you began, an uneasy conspiratorial tone to your voice that weirdly reminded him of Sam. âWanna tell me what happened out there?â Â
âIâ,â Bucky sheepishly scratched the back of his neck while his cheeks bloomed crimson red. âI mustâve just tripped over my own feet.âÂ
He tried to shrug off his nonchalance, but he knew by your raised eyebrow you didnât believe him. âSomehow, I have a hard time believing a big, strong super soldier such as yourself has any trouble finding his footing.â
Before Bucky could muster up any other excuse but the truth, you ripped open the packet of a medical wipe and warned him, âIâm sorry. This is gonna sting.â
âNothing I canât handle,â he said with bravado.Â
Bucky wasnât prepared for the twinkle in your eye as you mumbled under your breath, âIâm sure it isnât, Sargeant.âÂ
The breath got knocked out of his lungs. Oh did that do things to him.Â
Suddenly, vivid images of you spread out on his bed wearing nothing but his old army hat while you screamed out his rank ran wild in his mind.Â
Luckily, you were too preoccupied with cleaning the dried blood of his wound to notice him discreetly palming the bulge in his athletic shorts, trying to hide the effect you had on him.Â
âAre you certain there is absolutely no other reason as to why Iâm playing nurse right now, then?â Your feline grin was sexy and scary. âNo possible distractions that led you off path?âÂ
There was no way you could read minds, right? Bucky doubled down on his denial, shaking his head from side to side and letting the length of his hair hide the truth in his eyes.Â
âIâll take your word for it then.â You finished up and reached for the healing gel. âI know the serum enhances your ability to repair the cuts, but Iâd still like to use this.â Looking into his eyes, you asked, âOnly as long as youâre okay with that, of course.âÂ
Time stopped and the two of you were caught in the otherâs gaze. It was such a small gesture, one you probably didnât even realise meant the world to him. But you asked him for permission on something that would affect his autonomy and if Bucky didnât already have a hundred ways he was falling for you, that would have been the cherry on top.Â
âYeah,â he breathed airily. âYeah, Iâm good with it, doll.âÂ
Unseen to him before, you ducked your head and sweeped your hair behind your ear and if Bucky didnât know any better, he was sure you were shy.Â
He couldnât help the large grin he sported. He was always so enamored with you, quick to falter in your presence and become unsure of himself. Right now though, a small bout of bravery returned. âReady when you are,â he cheekily murmured.Â
You hastily rushed to compose yourself. Clearing your throat, you squeezed the tube of gel, allowing a small drop of the cool liquid on the tip of your finger and stepped between his legs to gently dab it onto his cuts.Â
âOkay, youâre all fixed up now.â With a last swipe of his forehead, you smiled. âDonât worry, Buck. You still look handsome.âÂ
He tugged his plump bottom lip between his teeth. âYou think Iâm handsome?â
You giggled. âI would be blind if I didnât.âÂ
Bucky blinked at you slowly, still processing your words and trying to calm the excited bubble rising in his throat.Â
You rolled your eyes playfully. âOh, donât act all coy, Bucky. You must have heard the whispers of the recruits. They stare at you all the time, whispering and giggling to each other.âÂ
With the most confidence he had ever mustered up, he responded, âTruthfully, Iâm too busy staring at someone else to notice, doll.âÂ
The shock of his sudden boldness was glaringly obvious on your face â it was you this time who held your mouth open, lost for words.Â
Buckyâs body screamed at him to tell you that he was in fact head over heels for you. That had he known falling over in front of the full compound would lead him within a hairâs breadth away from you, heâd do it all over again.Â
But you seemed to recover after a couple of seconds, clearing your throat and making yourself busy to avoid his eyes. âSo, Iâve got another question.âÂ
âOh?â Bucky cocked his head.Â
âYeah.â You smiled while placing everything back into the first aid box as you found it. âIâve been hearing a few rumours around the compound recently.âÂ
Buckyâs stomach dropped with dread.Â
âYou wouldnât know anything about those, would you?âÂ
âIââ Bucky swallowed the lump in his throat. âI have no idea what you mean.âÂ
âOh,â you hummed. âSo itâs not true then? You donât have a crush on me?âÂ
Fuck.
Panicking, Bucky scoffed, though it came off sounding too pathetic, too breezy. âMe? Have a crush on you? ThatâsâHa! Nope. No way. Not at all.âÂ
He watched as you nodded to yourself. Internally, he was begging for the floor to swallow him while he cringed at his own stupidity.Â
âWell,â you shrugged. âThatâs a shame, I guess.â Â
Buckyâs head shot up, eyes wide and shock written over his features. âE-Excuse me?âÂ
âOh, it's nothing really.â There was a sparkle in your eye that screamed trouble. âYou said you didnât have a crush on me, so it doesnât matter.âÂ
Within seconds, Bucky jumped off the bed and leapt towards you, not even noticing how he had grabbed your hands. âDoll, please. You canât leave a guy hanging like that.âÂ
Playfully rolling your eyes, you dramatically exhaled and decided to put him out of his misery. âLeave you hanging? Damn, Buck. Itâs not as if Iâve been waiting patiently for you to ask me out for months or anything like that.âÂ
The air became humid and stuffy and suddenly the clothes attached to Buckyâs body felt too tight and restricting. âYouâWhat now?âÂ
You rolled your lips inwards, trying to smother your laughter. âBucky, honey,â you gently murmured. âIâve heard what the others have been gossiping about. Iâve definitely heard Sam telling the team about your crush on me.âÂ
Bucky squeezed his eyes shut and groaned. âThat fuckinâ punk.âÂ
You squeezed his hands reassuringly and offered him a warm smile when he looked at you. âIâve just been waiting to hear it from the horse's mouth himself.âÂ
Buckyâs eyes darted between yours, trying to find any hint of decievement. âYouâre serious.â
âMhm,â you whispered. âDeadly.âÂ
It took him a couple of seconds to let the new information sink in. Clearing his throat, Bucky untightened his fierce grip on your hands and hesitantly slid them down to latch onto your waist. âSo,â he mumbled. âSay if I asked you out to dinner tonight⌠You wouldnât tell me Iâm a fool and break my heart into a million pieces?âÂ
Butterflies erupted in Buckyâs stomach at the sensation of your hands sliding over his chest to rest against his neck. âNo, Bucky,â you chuckled. âI would tell you that Iâm looking forward to our first date, tonight. Nowhere fancy, just casual. Six oâclock sharp.âÂ
Bucky smiled, all beaming and ecstatic. âI wouldnât dream of being late.âÂ
âGood.â You leaned up onto your tip toes and ghosted your lips over his ear. âSee you very soon then, Sargeant.âÂ
Tingles shot down Buckyâs spine and his eyes rolled to the back of his head. He fought tooth and nail to crush the moan that rose up his throat and in his internal struggle, he missed how youâd sneakily slipped out of his hold and started to saunter towards the door.Â
He almost begged you to come back; the thought of having to wait for you until the evening was unbearable. But those pesky butterflies that invaded his stomach came back strong and fierce as his gaze became glued to the sway of your hips and the sweet perfume that lingered in your exit.Â
âOh,â you stopped suddenly at the doorway and looked over your shoulder. âOne more thing. Donât go tripping over again, you hear me?â You raised an eyebrow and grinned. âCanât have you falling for me.â
Your damn smirk was intoxicating and Bucky thought himself the luckiest fella alive to be the one taking you out. He licked his lips and crossed his arms over his chest. âIâm afraid Iâm gonna have a little trouble with that request, Maâam.âÂ
The clench of your thighs was unmissable. The way your eyes dilated called to him. Bucky had more game than he realised and he kept that new information tucked safely into the corner of his mind for a later date.Â
You didnât reply. You didnât need to. Your actions told Bucky everything he needed to know and so he wiggled his fingers with a huge grin locked onto his face and watched you longingly as you left his sight.Â
The minute he couldnât hear your footsteps any longer, Bucky pumped his fist up into the air and began dancing on the spot.Â
In his own bubble of happiness, he didnât hear the footsteps of a new person entering the hallway. Only when an amused clearing of the throat echoed from the doorway did Bucky abruptly stop his dancing and slowly swivel to the intruder.Â
Sam stood there, all cocky and mirthful with a shit eating grin on his face. âAbout time you bagged the girl, man. Dontâcha think?âÂ
Instantly, Bucky growled and grabbed the closest apparatus. With a pair of medical scissors, he charged towards Sam, who was quick to wipe the smirk off his face and skid out of the room with a scream.Â

To add to the previous part about Cat, Dream's choice to accuse her of being the burner has had insane negative impacts on her life. He genuinely, deeply harmed someone on a whim. Cat also does not want to be involved in this situation anymore, but just for clarity about Jaime's situation, I will be involving their tweets. I'd also like to add that Dream retracted his accusation against Cat of being the burner.
Also, to amend something, Jaime's situation was not reported to the police, it was reported to an agency for child exploitation.
From what I have seen of Dream's response, it's quite complicated and there are some issues worthy of noting.
Some notable things he did in the video:
He edited the video like it was a drama youtuber exposĂŠ on some fallen youtuber and not his response to multiple grooming allegations.
He compared him flirting (and possibly sexting) with his underage stans (as a 19 - 22 year old with 10 million+ subscribers to people 16/17 years old) to Phil and Kristin's relationship (a late 20s streamer with at most tens of viewers who held a platonic relationship with a viewer who was also in their late 20s for a least one year before beginning a romantic relationship). This is talked about my first post in this long post. It's a bad point.
He discussed many of his controversies, including his speedrunning, before the allegations against him (very strange to talk about how frequent of a liar he is before going on to say that he's not a liar).
*He admitted to having known Manatreed (accused domestic abuser who he added to the SMP for one day before Manatreed left when the allegations came out through doxxing) and apologized for how he reacted back then. (*I haven't seen much about this point, so take it with a grain of salt)
He talked about how several other CCs, like Ranboo and Wilbur, have had false allegations against them (which is interesting to me, as people like his close friend BBH, who has actively defended him, had false allegations as well, so I am curious why he chose Ranboo and Wilbur, but nevertheless).
He made up controversial messages between him and Pokimane, and him and XQC to show how easily you can fake messages without asking Pokimane or XQC for permission to do so or warning them about it? Essentially dragging them into the controversy for no reason, as the messages spread online, even though Dream did state they were fake (or at least implied heavily).
He included tweets against him which showed people's usernames, which reportedly lead to doxxing, in the same video where he apologizes for his previous statement about how doxxing didn't matter.
He talked about Jaime/burner22 and Amanda with a brief mention of Anastasia and no mention of Jay (even if Jay does not consider themselves a victim).
He apologized to Quackity, and reportedly admitted to the fact that he had been accusing Quackity of stealing the idea for USMP.
I would like to add that I have not watched the video in its entirety, but I believe that I have most of the key information from the portions I have seen.
When it comes to the allegations from Amanda, he showed the JSON chat logs from Snapchat. Except, he didn't show all of it. He showed snippets, specifically right before the supposed messages of him flirting with Amanda that we saw in Amanda's videos.
I don't personally use Snapchat, so here is the entire problem explained by someone who does. I've summarized it below.
Looking at the Snapchat logs he showed, they're out of order. The dates are inconsistent, when Snapchat data is chronological. Dream would have had to manually edit them to rearrange the order they're in.
There are also missing messages that exist in Amanda's videos that are not flirtatious or sexual, meaning that Amanda would have faked sending innocent, short messages with Dream when they in no way would benefit her narrative unless she was trying to build their platonic relationship? So either she added those in for that reason, or Dream removed them without realizing.
Amanda was recording her phone screen with another phone, and Dream confirmed that some of the Snapchat messages are real.
Dream's logs also fail to include any sort of reference to a media file, when it's confirmed that there are instances where pictures or other files were shared. It is very odd that these are missing.
Also, this thread showed yet another instance of Dream acting inappropriate towards Amanda that I had never seen.
[Image ID: a screenshot of a camera role that is showing a photo of a phone. The phone is open to Snapchat and shows Dream responding to a bikini photo of Amanda. He wrote "baddd bitch", "fine as HELL", "beach day?". End ID]
When asked about this photo and response, he deflected and talked about when he called her 'gorgeous as fuck'.
I'd also like to add that he once again says that Amanda messaged him from her personal and he didn't know any fan accounts of hers, but it was obvious that she was a devoted fan, as she said so in her first message to him on Instagram.
When it comes to Jaime, the situation is very complicated. Dream apparently had Keemstar helping him behind the scenes, which I just wanted to note due to arguments about the validity of the previous time Keemstar was involved.
There's a message sent to Keemstar from Jaime on Snapchat saying that Jaime did not release the information behind shared, and that it was shared without her consent. She does not consider herself groomed or a victim in any way, and also does not want to be involved.
Regardless of this, there was a large document released that showed evidence that Jaime was 16 and a fan at the time of Dream messaging them. Whether or not Jaime was groomed, it's very inappropriate for a 20 year old to be sending sexual messages with a 16 year old fan.
However, the allegations and their validity are being called into question.
In the video, Dream includes a person by the name of Sam (the previously blurred person in Cat's discord messages), who was the person who sent Jaime's messages to the burner. In the video, they talked very differently about the messages sent to Jaime than they did in screenshots of the conversation between them and the burner.
Most of this information is coming from these threads from Cat, who does not believe Dream to be a groomer. By their own words, they're not 100% sure about Amanda and Anastasia, but they've received personal information about the situation with Jaime that they cannot share. They believe that the burner did not lie about Jaime, but they were purposefully mislead.
It's unclear why Sam has lied repeatedly, but reportedly, they left out several key details when informing the burner of the situation. After the burner responded by saying they did not understand who Sam had lied to (Dream or them), the burner deactivated their account.
Really, I think the best thing to be said about this is what Pyrocynical said, which is that this video probably will not change anyone's minds whether they're a fan of him or not. I doubt this post will either, but I am trying to document the situation for information purposes.
Remember you really don't have to have an opinion on everything, do whatever is safe for you and if this is stressing you, try to step back.
I feel that regardless of what you think of whether he groomed, sexted, or flirted with anyone underage or otherwise, his responses to this situation and the many other situations he has been in definitely show a pattern of behaviour in how he acts in his position. I still personally believe that he was acting inappropriately in messaging his fans and flirting with them (by his own words in his original response) and I still believe he should not have a platform.
I am so fucking angry about Dream stans (mostly on Twitter, though they are here) being like âcan you BELIEVE people are upset that a minor đąđąđą was messaging with an ADULT!! LMAOO wait until they get into the real world and find out that 17 year olds can be friends with 25 year olds. Next theyâre gonna call Tommy messaging Schlatt dangerous!!â
It was not that she was 17 and Dream was 20. The age gap was not the issue.
It was that Dream had a position of power over her and abused it.Â
He knew he had this position from the very start, as she was a fan of his and their first messages with each other was her telling him how much his content had helped her through depression.
[Image ID: a screenshot of an Instagram direct message to Dream that reads âHi, the chances of you seeing this are very slim, but I wanted to let you know that your content makes me sooo happy. Ive been really depressed lately, all thats going on in the world and in my life and your videos give me one more reason to stay. You know how people type âLMAOâ and dont actually laugh? I actually sit in bed laughing when im watching you. That means a lot [Unclear emoji]. Love you Dream!â¤ď¸ -Amandaâ. Dream replied and wrote âaw thank you for the kind words :)â. End ID]
This means that he knew full well that her wellbeing was somewhat dependant on his content. She says that his videos gave her one more reason to stay alive.
He confirmed that the Instagram messages are real.Â
[Image ID: a screenshot of Dreamâs twitlonger regarding the allegations that reads âThe second thread had instagram dms from me, again, having friendly normal conversation and nothing inappropriate. I believe these message are real as well. Onceâ. End ID]
Thusly, the Snapchat messages that havenât been deleted are, without a doubt, real, because he tells her the name of his private Snapchat in the Instagram messages. They cannot be ignored.
It is incredibly inappropriate for Dream to message her on Snapchat knowing that she was 17 and a fan at the time and that messages can easily be erased. That on its own would be uncomfortable, but he was talking to her in a flirtatious manner.
[Image ID: a screenshot of a Snapchat message by Dream/Clay that is a reply to a video sent by Amanda that reads âur gorgeous as fuckâ. End ID]
This is not normal, friendly behavior. Especially with a fan who is underage and has said that she is emotionally invested in his content.
This is predatory. Several girls have come forward. This proves that Dream not only has more than once, but likely will again, use his platform and power to engage in sexual relationships with underage girls.
He cannot have a platform anymore.
Please, read this post about the Snapchat messages, this post about why Tommy messaging Schlatt and other CCs was completely different, and these two threads about his response to the situation (thread one) (thread two)Â and how it was manipulative and more focused on his audience rather than adressing the allegations.Â
This thread includes most of the information regarding the situation.
#dream situation#// dream#tw mentioned grooming#tw grooming#long post#// cmc#ask to tag#areus rambles#if there's anything inaccurate in this let me know#it's a very complicated situation and everyone is entitled to their own thoughts on the video#I have mine though#and I do not see why he needed to take over a year and include everything else that he got messed up in to respond#it feels like he's trying to cover everything#and the allegations are just one of those things he's been caught up in#instead of. allegations of grooming#and the amount of time had resulted in the situation becoming very muddied as both maliciously and accidentally false allegations#have been released#I feel that the video taking so long to be released made the situation between people who believed or did not believe the allegations worse#as victim blaming and doxxing and harassment became insanely common#and dream has responded to situations in the past year in ways that are just. like straight up unsafe in some cases. and childish in others#as for Jaime. I am neither here nor there.#It all really depends on Sam and idk what the fuck is going on there and it seems like any information coming out would doxx people so#I don't think we'll get an answer#these are just my thoughts of course

j.b.b. | Been dreaming about you
Summary:Â "I had a dream about her..." Steve only frowned even more - how was that a bad thing? "y'know," Bucky added with a tilt of his head, trying to accentuate what he meant. He didnât want to say it out loud; it was already as embarrassing as it was.
Pairing:Â Bucky Barnes x f!reader
Warnings:Â Angst with a happy ending, miscommunication (or no communication at all), Bucky depreciating himself, mention of war injuries, mention of physical attraction, mention of nudity and sexual act

Bucky stopped at the doorstep as Y/Nâs laugh made its way to his ears.Â
His eyes immediately found her, sat down at the kitchenâs bar, a box of cereal in her hand. She was heartily speaking with Sam, and like any time she was talking about something she was passionate about she was speaking with her hands. Bucky couldnât make out what they were discussing, something about milk and cereals that seemed to leave Steve, sat with them, totally unbothered.
While he really needed a cup of coffee before Tonyâs briefing, he hesitated to go in. He wasnât really in the mood for small talk - truth was, these days, he wasnât in the mood to talk at all, especially to Y/N. Eyeing the coffee machine Y/Nâs had her back turned to, he decided she was way too into her conversation to even notice him. He could just go in, take his coffee and leave.Â
Yeah, it was a solid plan.Â
Though it was without counting on Sam calling after him, as soon as he put a foot in the kitchen. Y/N turned to him right away, her face lighting up.
âHi!â She greeted him, a big smile on her lips that Bucky tried very hard not to look at all.
Bucky only responded by a sharp nod and nearly run to the coffee machine. Her smile faltered slightly at his cold attitude. She watched him get himself a cup of coffee for a second more before she looked back to her own cereal bowl.
Steve frowned to the exchange; he was used to Bucky and Y/N being quite friendly towards each over. Ever since Bucky had been back in the country, Y/N had been part of his rehabilitation protocol. While Tony and Bruce were working on reversing his trigger words, Y/N was working with Bucky as a physical therapist, to try and fix his chronic right shoulder pain. She had been an army physical therapist, serving one tour in Afghanistan, and was specialized on injuries that led to limb amputation.
While the beginning had been complicated - especially due to how unstable Bucky was at the beginning, Y/N had succeeded on getting Bucky to open up to her. The last months, Steve had even found out Bucky was more eager than before going to his PT session. Whenever Y/N was around, Bucky - who normally wouldnât stay in the common room and much preferred to stay in the quiet of his own room - would linger a little bit longer with them. Despite whatever Bucky would say, Steve just knew his friend had a crush on Y/N (by judging how red his face turned that one time Steve asked him, it was a pretty good crush).Â
The blond watched as Bucky left rapidly after he got his coffee. Y/N too had watched him, Steve realized when he turned to her. Her face was wearing a small frown, and her eyes were fixed on the last place Bucky could have been seen.
âYou alright?â he asked.
As always, Y/N looked back to him and smiled. She didnât fool him though. Steve didnât know what was wrong and clearly, she didnât know either.
Over the next week or so, Steve found himself with a lot of dĂŠjĂ -vu.
Y/N would enter in a room Bucky was in and he would magically disappear. Bucky would find whatever good excuses not to do his physical therapy session - volunteering for missions he didnât even have anything to do with in the first place. He even wouldnât put a foot on the twenty-six floor - where Y/N had her office - if he knew she was most likely to be there - that was to say, basically every hour of every week day (Yes, Y/N had a slight work addiction).
It was clear for Steve now, Bucky was avoiding Y/N for whatever reason. Even Tony had asked if everything was alright between the two and he wasnât the one to notice a lot of things about his own relationship - let alone other peopleâs relationship.
That morning, Steve had finally decided he would clear the air and talk to Bucky. He had asked him to join him in the kitchen for a coffee and this was of course at this exact same moment, Y/N had decided to get out of her office for some well-deserved break.
When she entered the room, Bucky looked like a deer caught in the headlights and stayed frozen in his seat, he didnât have time to flee this time. Though he had been avoiding her, Y/N still seemed to be happy to see him.
âHi!â she greeted them with a smile on her face. She picked her favorite cup from the cupboard and put the kettle on. She turned to Bucky naturally while she waited for the water to be ready. âHow is your arm?â
âWell, actually.â Steve had barely heard Bucky as he mumbled.
âNo pain whatsoever?â
âNope.â
âCool then!â
Y/N smiled as Bucky turned his attention back to his cup of coffee. She rolled on her feet, probably searching for a topic to continue the discussion - this was the most words they had exchanged in the last two weeks. She seemed to search and search again, but nothing came to her mind.
The sharp sound of the electric kettle stopping seemed to bring her back on earth. She looked at Steve and then back to Bucky, who was looking at everything but her. Again, Steve saw the way her smile faltered from his friendâs attitude and as her heart seemed to drop further in her chest. She was hurt he was pushing her away.
âLet me know if you need anything.â And without yet another glance at Bucky, she left. Totally forgetting about the cup of tea she was making.
Steve watched her go and then turned to Bucky, eyebrows furrowed. "What's going on between you two?"
Bucky looked up, eyebrows raised as if he was surprised Steve even asked about it. He didnât even try to explain everything was fine and the blond didnât know if it was because to him, everything was actually right, or because he was even surprised anyone had noticed his attitude.
âDonât look at me like that. I know you were lying. It still hurts you.â
ââM fine,â Bucky muttered, eyes going back to his cup of coffee.
"Every time she is around lately, you just... disappear."
Bucky swallowed, hard. So it was that obvious. He really thought he was being subtle. He was such a nobody at the compound that making himself even smaller that usually, nobody noticed. Of course not.
"I had a dream about her..." Steve only frowned even more - how was that a bad thing? "y'know," Bucky added with a tilt of his head, trying to accentuate what he meant. He didnât want to say it out loud; it was already as embarrassing as it was.
Oh! Steve seemed to understand.
"What's wrong about that?"
His friend gave him a knowing look. What was wrong with that? What was wrong with THAT? He had imagined kissing her, touching her, caressing her. He had seen what he imagined she looked like without her clothes on. It had felt real, so -so- real.
It had been a little bit more than two weeks now and he still remembered every little details. No matter how busy he was keeping his self, he still had flashes of it at the most random times of the day. At night, he couldnât close his eyes without reliving the scene, feeling her hands on his body and so he lived of no sleep and a lot of black coffee. He couldnât concentrate on anything, it was driving him crazy.
Now, he couldnât look at her without thinking about this. He tried his best not to be in the same room as her or not speak to her. The simple thought of being near her was overwhelming, let alone to have her touching him during one of his physical therapy sessions.
"Bucky, that's fine. She is one of the nicest person I know. She will tell you if that makes her uncomfortable, you'll talk about it and that will be fine."
Bucky groaned. There was no way he would admit this to her; this was already as embarrassing as it was to discuss this with Steve. He had been used to the other way around. In his past life, he had been the one giving Steve advices on how to act with the ladies, even setting him up on blind dates. Somehow, he felt like he was this thirteen-year-old looking at pinup posters in New York streets again.
"And you never know, she might be interested after all."
"How could she?â Bucky huffed, disgusted with himself. âHave you looked at me recently?"
When Bucky finished his cup and turned to Steve, his body language was indicating he was done with this discussion. Steve looked at him with one of his signature sympathetic glances. To Bucky, it felt more like pity than anything else. Steve was pitying him, old poor brainwashed Bucky, who had been kidnapped and forced to do horrible things. Hydra had made him a living time bomb and he felt it more than ever now.
"Come on Bucky, you know that's not true!"
Too late, Bucky was long gone.
Bucky felt like he was cursed.
He had been trying to avoid Y/N. Just for a little bit longer, just for as long as he couldnât forget about their dreamed intimate moment. Yet, he continuously found himself in situations where she was too. Like when Tony invited her to their weekly catch-up on how they were planning to remove his trigger words from his head. Like when Sam invited her to the team dinner.
Or like today, when he found himself in the elevator... Alone with Y/N.
They stayed silent for most of the ride. After the last few weeks of she couldnât get Bucky to talk to her despite her best effort, Y/N seemed to be out of subjects to discuss and preferred looking at her hands. A minute before they arrived on the first floor though, she couldnât help turn to him and ask the question that was burning her lips for a few days now:
"Did I do something wrong?"
Bucky looked up from his own feet to frown at Y/N, a couple of steps from him. He had purposely left a lot of space between them when she boarded the elevator, but even from where he was, he could still smell her perfume and somehow feel her skin touching his.
He frowned at her, as if he didnât know what she was talking about. Y/N looked frustrated, even angry at little bit, and she had every right to be. They went from seeing each other twice a week for physical therapy session and sharing a few moments on every occasion they got to nothing at all.
She had replayed the events in her head, trying to find what she could have done wrong, and she just couldnât make out what had happened.
"Your arm, it's bothering you, I can see," she pointed out. Even if he didnât want to talk to - and even look at - her, she continued to watch out for him. "Why donât you just come to me?"
"It's fine," Bucky sharply answered. A little too harshly.
The look of hurt on Y/Nâs face made Buckyâs heart break. He knew he was unfair to her, yet he couldnât admit what was going on. She was a too good person to be around him, a poor fuck-up man and a world known assassin.
Despite everything he was putting her through, Y/N didn't want to admit defeat and after the initial shock of the ton he had used to talk to her, she was ready to speak again.
âPlease, just don't,â Bucky spoke more softly this time just at the same time as the elevator doors opened.
âBucky, I-â
But he was gone before she could say anything more.
Y/N was now avoiding him like the plague.
At first, Bucky had been relieved. Now, his heart only sunk when they shared a look and Y/N was quick to look away. He was longing to see her yet whenever he would go up to her office, she wasnât there. She didnât venture to the compoundâs kitchen any longer; and he knew it because a small coat of dust had started to cover her favourite cup. He had even tried to ask Steve how she was doing, but the only answer he got was always a âwhy donât you ask her yourself?â - after the way he had talked to her, Bucky couldnât bring himself to do it.
As usual, Bucky would be having his last coffee of the day during his afternoon break, just before he would go meet the team for a strength training session at the compound gym. Steve and his reusable water bottle stomped into the room and huffed finding Bucky here. He continued his way to the water dispenser to fill it. Bucky watched, frowning, as he pushed the button so hard it nearly felt off. His annoyance was irradiating all around him and Bucky didnât remember to have seen him so⌠sulking before.
âWhatâs going on?â Bucky asked his friendâs back.
Steveâs shoulder dropped as he seemed to take a breath in. He turned slowly, a shadow on his face. His water bottle was very close to being overfilled and his hand also very close to crush it.
âY/N has resigned,â his voice was a bit deeper than usual, âeffective immediately.â
âI donât understand-â
âShe is leaving, Bucky.â
The information seemed to get to Buckyâs brain in an instant. He immediately got up, literally throwing the stool he was sat on away. He run to the elevator and when it didnât come quick enough, he decided he would run up the stairs to the level Y/Nâs office was on. He ran up the corridor and nearly took the door of his office off the hinges while opening it.
Y/N was there, putting the last books she had on her shelves in a box. She stopped in her tracks from the surprise of the brutal intrusion and gave him a dirty look.
âI really donât have time for this.â
Her voice was cold and sharp, and Bucky wondered if that was how he had talked to her. It hurt him so much to see only anger in her eyes and to know that everything they had shared was lost. All because of him.
And that was probably why he spoke without thinking:
âIâm attracted to you.â
Y/N dropped the book she had in her hand. She looked at him - he looked at her â and Bucky didnât let any time for her to open her mouth to speak. He didnât want to lose the courage he had gather to open up his shell.
âIâve been attracted to you for⌠well, since being back, but I only realized this wasnât just a crush â Peter told me that word â until very recently.â He breathed shakily. âI didnât know how to handle. This (he gestured between the two of them) is much more than just physical attraction. I have feelings for you and I shouldnât be feeling that.â
âBuckyâŚâ Y/N sighed, getting around her desk to approach him.
âYou and I know, I canât be feeling like that,â Bucky repeated while Y/N shook her head. âAnd I am so sorry. I know this doesnât change how badly I have acted towards you, but I hope with time that I can earn your trust again.â
âI am pretty sure we had this conversation before,â Y/N told him, putting away a string of his hair. She was now in front of him, so close to what they had never been in the last few months. âYou canât decide what other people can think or feel. I know itâs easier to push people away when things get tough, but we need you to tell us what is going on in this brain of yours. Okay?â
Tears in his eyes, Bucky nodded. Y/N smiled at him sweetly and all of his problem suddenly seemed to have disappeared.
âI understand this can be a very difficult thing to hear, but you are a good person, Bucky. Whatever happened to you doesnât define you.â She hugged him, so hard, as if they were reunited after a long time away. âAnd for the record, I also have a crush on you.â

It's interesting (if often frustrating) to see the renewed Orc Discourse after the last few episodes of ROP. I've seen arguments that orcs have to be personifications of evil rather than people as such or else the ethics of our heroes' approach to them becomes much more fraught. Tolkien's work, as written, seems an odd choice to me for not wrangling with difficult questions, and of course, more diehard fans are going to immediately bring up Shagrat and Gorbag.
If you haven't read LOTR recently, Shagrat and Gorbag are two orcs who briefly have a conversation about how they're being screwed over by Sauron but have no other real options, about their opinions of mistakes that have been made, that they think Sauron himself has made one, but it's not safe to discuss because Sauron has spies in their own ranks. They reminisce about better times when they had more freedom and fantasize about a future when they can go elsewhere and set up a small-scale banditry operation rather than being involved in this huge-scale war. Eventually, however, they end up turning on each other.
Basically any time that someone brings up the "humanity" of this conversation, someone else will point out that they're still bad people. They're not at all guilty about what they're part of. They just resent the dangers to themselves, the pressure from above, failures of competence, the surveillance they're under, and their lack of realistic alternative options. The dream of another life mentioned in the conversation is still one of preying on innocent people, just on a much smaller and more immediate scale, etc.
I think this misses the reason it keeps getting brought up, though. The point is not that Shagrat and Gorbag are good people. The point is that they are people.
There's something very normal and recognizable about their resentment of their superiors, their fears of reprisal and betrayal that ultimately are realized, their dislike of this kind of industrial war machine that erases their individual work and contributions, the tinge of wistfulness in their hope of escape into a different kind of life. Their dialect is deliberately "common"âand there's a lot more to say about that and the fact that it's another commoner, Sam, who outwits themâbut one of the main effects is to make them sound familiar and ordinary. And it's interesting that one of the points they specifically raise is that they're not going to get better treatment from "the good guys" so they can't defect, either.
This is self-interested, yes, but it's not the self-interest of some mystical being or spirit or whatnot, but of people.
Tolkien's later remarks tend to back this up. He said that female orcs do exist, but are rarely seen in the story because the characters only interact with the all-male warrior class of orcs. Whatever female orcs "do," it isn't going to war. Maybe they do a lot of the agricultural work that is apparently happening in distant parts of Mordor, maybe they are chiefly responsible for young orcs, maybe both and/or something else, we don't know. But we know they're out there and we know that they reproduce sexually and we know that they're not part of the orcish warrior class.
Regardless of all the problems with this, the idea that orcs have a gender-restricted warrior class at all and we're just not seeing any of their other classes because of where the story is set doesn't sound like automatons of evil. It sounds like an actual culture of people that we only see along the fringes.
And this whole matter of "but if they're people, we have to think about ethics, so they can't be people" is a weird circular argument that cannot account for what's in LOTR or for much of what Tolkien said afterwards. Yes, he struggled with The Problem of Orcs and how to reconcile it with his world building and his ethical system, but "maybe they're not people" is ultimately not a workable solution as far as LOTR goes and can't even account for much of the later evolution of his ideas, including explicit statements in his letters.
And in the end, the real response that comes to mind to that circular argument is "maybe you should think about ethics more."
#i had a whole 'nother tangent that i split off into a separate draft#but i've been thinking about why the 'but shagrat and gorbag are still BAD people' thing seems so inane and missing the point#but yeah. i feel like people desperately want to find some justification in tolkien (and elsewhere) for the idea#that doing something wrong to a person will become doing something right if you can find someone who 'deserves it'#and that literally anything can be justified if someone has been defined as a valid target (i.e. less than a person)#(you see this a lot in the whole twitter main character of the day thing - the idea that the problem is directing the firehose#against the wrong person by mistake rather than the firehose itself)#but it's super weird for a novel built on a metaphor about how using the tools of evil for a good end or against existential enemies#is fundamentally corrupting and only further props up what it's meant to oppose#and i mean... the character most like tolkien literally says he could not morally justify lying to an orc and rejects the ring#it's not exactly a deeply buried theme of the book#anghraine babbles#long post#anghraine rants#legendarium fanwank#legendarium blogging#shagrat#gorbag#tv: lotr#jrr tolkien

MOVED BLOGS TO @sammyluvr !! no longer active on this blog! all fics can be found there!
heartache is one thing. heartache for someone you donât know, someone whose face youâve never seen or who youâve never met, is another, stranger thing. itâs common for many to feel this heartache before they know their soulmate, but sometimes you feel as though you have to worry much more than most.
you try not to let thoughts of your mystery soulmate consume you, but you seem to have constant reminders of them litered on your skin in the form of tiny blue flowers. admittedly, you find it romantic that forget-me-nots are your soulmate flower, with their symbolism of true love, respect, and fidelity. the flowers themself feel like a good omen, a sweet promise of a steady love waiting for you. but, the frequency with which they appear on your skin feels far less lucky and always feeds you so much worry for this person youâve yet to meet.
this morning, you wake with new blooms snaking along your left collarbone, peeking out from the seam of your sleep shirt. and when you change into new clothes, you find a few more growing on your bicep and the side of your ribs.
sighing, you stand at the mirror lightly brushing your fingers over the small flowers and wonder what sort of trouble your soulmate got into last night. as always, worry floods your chest, but you do your best to tamp it down considering the fact that you only bear a few new blooms. the more severe the injury, the more flowers appear on your skin. today, your soulmate must only be dealing with small surface cuts.
sometimes, youâre covered in so many forget-me-nots that youâre too worried to do much of anything at all. more than once, youâve wondered how your soulmate could still be alive, and the continuous flowers on your skin serve as your only proof that they're still around. there were a few years where you barely had any blooms, just the usual flower on a fingertip to signify a papercut or the occasional few because of a small accident. but one night the flowers came in bunches and never stopped.
you imagine what you might say or do when you meet them. maybe youâll want to check on whatever wounds they have, be sure itâs not too bad, or maybe youâll scold them for making you worry so much. youâll certainly ask what they do in their life that gets them so injured so often. maybe youâll do it all.
but for now, youâll have to move on and get ready for the day. the flowers always linger, though.
â˘â˘â˘
itâs been a rather strange week. the flowers from last thursday have completely faded, and youâve gone a day or two without any new forget-me-nots appearing on your skin. the strange part has been at work. on monday night, one of your coworkers died in the building, but you still had to come in to work the next day. one of the rooms was taped off, but that was the only evidence of the misfortune. the same thing happened last night, thursday, and youâre ready to do everything you can to get at least the next several days off of work. you don't want to risk anything.
and now, it seems the goddamn fbi is interested in whatever has happened. youâre not a huge fan of the federal government, but you have to admit that the bureau has sent two of its most attractive agents. normally, youâd keep your head down, but you feel inexplicably drawn to one of them. heâs the taller of the two, which is impressive because the other is already tall, and he has pretty brown hair and dimples that you catch a glimpse of as he talks to one of your coworkers.
he looks away from her as he moves away, seemingly done with the interview. he catches your eye, and your breath gets caught in your throat for a moment. heâs a beautiful man; pretty and sweet looking at the same time as heâs traditionally handsome and slightly imposing. youâve never loved a strangerâs eyes so much.
he approaches you and you canât help but watch as he grows closer.
âhi,â he greets with a small smile, âiâm agent greenaway with the fbi. can i ask you a few questions about the deaths from this week?â
âiâm not sure iâll be much help, but sure,â you nod, folding your arms over your stomach. agent greenaway doesnât make you uncomfortable, but the topic at hand certainly does.
âthatâs alright. sometimes the smallest things can really be helpful,â he reassures, keeping the kind look on his face. âhave you noticed anything strange about either of the deceased or the building this past week or so?â
you shake your head. ânot really. i mean i didnât work closely with macy, and i never noticed anything off about lex.â
âand the building? any strange cold spots or flickering lights?â
you find the question sort of odd coming from an fbi agent, but you instintually feel like you should take it seriously. âum, yeah, actually. it was really cold by the bathrooms last night when i left. at first i thought the ac finally got fixed, but it was still sort of warm over here. in this areaâ
âokay. thank you for your help,â he smiles at you again and for a reason you can't quite place, you donât want the unusual conversation to end. you have to hide a hint of delight from your expression when he hands you his card. âcall me if you think of anything else.â you accept the card with a nod. he looks like heâs about to walk away, but he pauses. âand, uhâ be careful. you should go home early tonight.â
âoh. okay, i will.â without knowing why, you trust him. you want to see him again.
â˘â˘â˘
saturday night is the second busiest night at the bar, but youâre glad itâs not as crowded fridays normally are. you walk straight to the bar to order your go-to drink. as you wait for the bartender to make it, you stare at yourself in the mirror behind the counter out of the corner of your eye. today, thereâs two little forget-me-nots right on your left cheek. they look sort of cute there, and you guess you should be grateful that itâs such a small wound. thereâs no other flowers on your body yet, which feels like a good run for your soulmate. thatâs a little over a whole week in between different injuries, even small ones.
the bartender slides you your drink and you thank them. thereâs a small red carnation on their thumb, and you wonder if theyâve met their own soulmate yet. you suppose that at the end of the day, youâre scared of what just about everyone else is. without trying, you worry about not meeting your soulmate until you're old and left without much time together. you want to meet them, and you think the sooner the better. the ideaâs been particularly stuck in your mind since last night.
agent greenawayâs words echo in your head. âbe careful. you should go home early tonight.â he seemed so sweet, so genuine and caring, and all youâve been able to think about since then is meeting someone like him. finding someone kind with a little red mark on their cheek and a forget-me-not on their right pointer finger to match the papercut you got earlier this afternoon.
and simply, youâve been feeling a little lonely these days. how nice would it be to have your literal soulmate by your side?
you sip slowly at your drink, and when the cupâs empty, you pay the tab. the bar isnât quite serving as the distraction you hoped it would. as you head for the door, your gaze snags on a mop of brown hair that wouldnât be considered familiar for the fact that youâve only seen it once, but feels that way regardless. quickly, you scan the rest of the bar, and sure enough you catch sight of agent greenawayâs partner, across the way and very obviously flirting with a pretty brunette.
for a moment you pause, wondering if it would be weird or too out-of-the-blue to approach agent greenaway, but the pull you feel towards him overrides all else, taking your hand and guiding it to throw all caution to the wind.
heâs facing away from you, and with a friendly smile, you slide into the seat across from him.
âhi,â you greet over the noise of music and talking, âdâyou mind if i sit here?â it takes him a moment to answer, like heâs lagging a little bit.
âuhâ no, no i donât mind,â he flashes a quick smile back at you, but his gaze and attention are clearly stuck somewhere on your face. for just a split-second, youâre confused by what he could be staring at, but it clicks not a moment later. you donât know how you missed it: the red mark on his left cheek, so small that your eyes glossed over it when you sat down. eagerly, you drop your gaze to his hands, one casually wrapped around his beer bottle and the other resting on the table. and sure enough, so tiny and pretty against his big hand is a single forget-me-not on his right pointer finger, exactly where you have a bandaid wrapped around your own.
you suck in a sharp breath, eyes caught on the delicate flower and unable to drag themselves away to look back at his face. just like everyone else, youâve thought about it a million times over, what it would feel like to meet your soulmate, what you would do, how you would act. in this moment, you feel frozen, but you feel right and you feel a million questions and urges rise up in your heart and mind. you desperately want to reach out to him, to touch his hand and the little flower and make sure that theyâre both real.
but you absolutely cannot keep your gaze away from his face for long at all and when you meet his eyes, an irresistible smile stretches across your face. you look at him with nothing short of wonderment. heâs just stunning and you canât believe that heâs supposed to be⌠well, yours.Â
just staring at each other, you feel a little flustered and awkward, unsure what to say to him. then you realize he should probably know your name, and all you know is his last. so you stick your right hand out and tell him your name. he takes your hand with a smile and repeats it back, saying it carefully and savoring the sound and feel of it on his tongue.
when you touch him for the first time, your breath gets caught in your throat and it feels so right that you never want to let go.
âiâm sam,â he says, only letting his hand fall away from yours after a few moments. even then, your fingertips are merely inches apart now.
âsam greenaway,â you echo, easily remembering how he introduced himself yesterday. then you puzzle at his reaction and the way that the name doesnât feel quite right as you look at him. he cringes slightly, like heâs done something to be guilty of. âor⌠not?â for a minute, things were starting to add up to you. the way you felt drawn to him yesterday and his job as an fbi agent finally explaining all of his many injuries. you figured he must be in fights often.
âiâ iâm sorry, this is soâ i mean if weâre really,â he takes a deep breath, trying to reset and figure out how to say things right. âif weâre really, you know, soulmates⌠well, thereâs just a lotâ a lot for me to explain. iâm not an fbi agent and my real name is sam winchester. but i swear, thereâs a reason for me lying and i promise that iâll explain it to you if youâre willing to hear it. which i understand if you donâtââ
âi do,â you say in earnest, finally cutting him off. it took you a second because, for a moment, you were too stuck on him saying the word soulmate aloud in reference to the two of you. it felt special and you were only half paying attention to the things he said after because of that. then all you were thinking about was how endearing he seems when heâs flustered and worried. âitâs okay,â you reassure him, âi want to hear it. iâ i mean, sure, itâs sort of strange that you lied about, you know, all that, but⌠iâm notâ iâm not gonna just meet my⌠my soulmate and not give you a chance.â he still looks a little tense, but his shoulders have dropped a bit in relief and thereâs the hint of a grateful smile on his features.
âthank you,â he says, glad for your reassurance but still worried about how you might take the rest of the far weirder explanations that he has left to tell you. âcan i maybe get you a drink?â
you smile at the offer, but shake your head a bit. âi was actually just heading out when i saw you. would you maybe wanna get out of here? my apartmentâs less than a ten minute walk away.â for a moment, you wonder if thatâs too much for just having met, but sam visibly relaxes just a little bit more.
âthat would be nice,â he smiles. heâs getting ready to stand when he glances across the bar, seemingly remembering about his partner. or not partner. youâre not quite sure. âmy brother, dean,â he explains simply when he catches your gaze on the other man. âi should tell him where iâm going.â
âokay,â you nod, filing the new information away in your mind and watching him weave between tables and flirting couples to reach his brother. the exchange is a bit funny to watch. at first dean looks annoyed at being interrupted by sam. then he glances at you with a sly smirk and makes some comment that is probably less than appropriate judging from his expression. and then his face morphs into one of surprise before itâs taken over by a smile. he claps sam on the shoulder and sends him off. you almost miss the look that dean gives you as sam heads back towards you because youâre so focused on the sweet smile that samâs now wearing. you only catch deanâs look for a second before sam is back at your side. itâs easy to assume dean as the older brother, with his eyes on you being protective, proud, careful, and happy all at once. and theyâre close enough that sam told him about you right away.
walking home with sam at your side is both completely strange and familiar all at once. itâs strange for a number of reasons, the main being that youâd never invite any other unknown man to your apartment, especially not one with a cryptic identity and such an imposing build. and yet, youâre not afraid or worried because of how familiar and safe it feels. it feels familiar because it feels right, it feels like exactly what you should be doing.
on the way over, he asks about you a little bit, trying not to overwhelm you with questions or seem overbearing with how eager he is to hear what you have to say. his kindness and carefulness are clear to you, and you love it. you answer happily, despite knowing heâs partially asking to avoid talking about himself until you settle down.
once inside, sam follows you right to the couch in the living room, sitting when you motion towards it and plop down into a chair across from him. he takes in the space, eyes roaming over your furniture, decor, and every little detail. he wants to know about you, just like you do him.
âitâs really nice in here,â he compliments, sounding so sincere that itâs just sweet.
âthank you,â you respond softly, wondering exactly what parts of the room he likes. you let him look around a second or two more before speaking again. âso⌠can i ask? you know, about it all, i guess? about you?â
he doesnât say it aloud, but he thinks the way that you ask is so lovely. half of him wants to make up some silly, somewhat believable explanation to spare you the truth, but he knows that would never work out well. not if you choose to stay together in some way or another. already, thatâs what he wants. he doesnât doubt that youâre indeed his soulmate, the one who heâs been sharing wounds and flowers with for as long as he can remember. sam has both yearned for and dreaded this moment. he tries not to be obvious about it or over do it, but heâs sort of a total romantic. heâs had doubts about how this whole idea of soulmates could really be real or make much sense, but those thoughts are eased with each moment he spends with you. he still wants to get to know you before he does anything with you, but the way that he wants to get to know you is something heâs never felt before. itâs undeniably special.
the dread is because heâs known ever since he got back into hunting that heâd never be able to hide the truth of his world from you. he has no idea how heâs going to get to you to believe him or convince you that heâs not completely insane, but heâs going to tell you the truth anyway. even if you do believe him, he wants to give you a choice. you shouldnât have to get involved with this life in any way at all if you donât want to. heâd never force you to try things with him if itâs too strange or too scary or hard or anything. and already, he knows that heâll never stop thinking about you if you do choose to stay away, but he also knows that heâd never try to change your mind or force you to do anything else other than exactly what you want.
âof course you can ask,â he responds, matching the softness of your own voice. âi, umâ iâm honestly not quite sure how to say all of this without sounding totally crazy, and i completely understand that, but justâ try to bear with me, i guess. and if you need proof, which i also understand, iâll do my best to get it for you, itâs justâ sort of hard.â
honestly, youâre wildly confused as to what the hell he could possibly say that would make him this anxious. it worries you a little bit too. you donât want him to feel afraid to tell you anything at all. so, you nod at him in encouragement, trying not to seem nervous yourself.
âmy brother and i, weâ we hunt monsters. real ones. ghosts, vampires, demons, the works. theyâre all real. your coworkers who died, they wereâ they were killed by an angry spirit. we got rid of it last night,â he says those words like theyâre a ten ton weight off of his chest, but heâs still got another ten sitting there as he awaits your response. he looks at you so carefully, trying to gauge any sort of reaction.
you raise your eyebrows in surprise, and probably disbelief and a million other things. âangry spirit? like a ghost?â youâre not sure why thatâs the first question that slips out, but you suppose itâs an easier one than are you insane? or what the hell are you talking about?
he nods his head carefully, like heâs waiting for you to freak out or call him crazy and tell him to go. âyeah. the ghost, she had died there, near the bathrooms where you felt the cold spot, in the 90s. she was triggered to kill when the man suspected of her murder was granted parole.â
âokay,â you breathe out, sort of nervously. the craziest thing is that you donât disbelieve him. youâre not convinced by any stretch, but when you look him in the eye and listen close to his voice, thereâs nothing but sincerity there. âi mean⌠that is sort of a kinda crazy thing to say,â you begin, âbut iâve always sort of believed in ghosts, so i donât think youâre completely, you know, insane.â you laugh a bit, trying to lighten the mood a little. you donât want him to stress, however unbelievable his words are. âthe rest is a bit⌠shaky, i guess. itâs a hard thing to believe, i mean⌠vampires. andâ and demons. itâs a lot. and honestly, iâm not sure how much iâll really, truly believe until i see, i donât know, something, i guess,â you admit, âbut⌠but i donât think youâre lying to me either.â
âthank you for that,â he says, voice as sincere as ever, âand i completely understand. honestly, part of me didnât want to tell you at all, but⌠itâs sort of my whole entire life at this point and it wouldnât be fair to hide from you. orâ or to not give you a choice right off the bat of whether or not you wanted to be involved. itâsâ itâs a lot and itâs dangerous. and if itâs what you want, i promise iâll try to find a way to prove it to you, itâs just⌠hard to do that without putting you in danger. and i really donât want to put you in danger.â
âthatâs sweet, sam,â you say, not really bothering to hide the way you feel. âiâm not, you know, eager to meet any monsters anytime soon, but whenever itâs⌠the least dangerous, i guess, you can show me. until then⌠iâll just trust you. and in the meantime maybe we can sort of just get to know each other?â you suggest, surprising yourself with how ready you are to trust him on this.
sam smiles at you sweetly. âthat sounds perfect to me. i justâ i donât want to force you into something you donât want for yourself. i live out of crappy motels and my brotherâs car while hunting monsters that shouldnât be real. iâm just⌠iâm sorry iâm not someone easier.â
you smile at him sort of sadly. âthatâs not your fault, sam. i never asked for someone âeasyâ anyway. just someone kind and respectful and you seem to be just that so far. besides, thereâs gotta be a reason, right? that⌠weâre soulmates. honestly, if you were anyone else i wouldnât trust you like this. anâand itâs not like iâm trusting you blindly because of something that weâre supposed to be. we just met. iâm only trusting you because it feels right to. and this whole soulmate thing never made too much sense to me until i met you. now it sort of does, because this feels right so far. at least, it does to me.â
âit feels right to me too,â he quickly assures, not wanting for you to misunderstand that for a second.
â˘â˘â˘
as two people who arenât quite ready to jump into such a committed relationship with completely different lives, itâs a little bit strange to be soulmates. and yet, nothing about it is anything but honey-sweet to you. the night you met as soulmates for the first time, you ended up talking for hours. all you had to do was sort of ignore the huge and slightly unbelievable bomb he dropped on you within the first hour of talking. oddly enough, that was sort of easy. you learned that samâs appetite for knowledge is just about insatiable, including when it comes to knowing about you.
he had words rolling off of your tongue, asking the best, most interesting questions and providing such sincere and in-depth responses. that night, he was just lovely, and thatâs pretty much all heâs been since. heâs this adorable mix of confident and shy, awkward and knowing just the right thing to say. and heâs incredibly smart, an almost stanford pre-law graduate who was headed for bigger things before he was pulled back into hunting a little over two years ago. this explains the difference in all his injuries from the past two years versus the three beforehand. secretly, you mourn for the life that he, and subsequently you, might have had, but only because he gets a little wistful every time he talks about stanford.
mostly, you talk on the phone, only stopping late in the night when one of you catches the other yawning. he seems to sleep so little, yet he lives such a tiring life. you almost always seem to be the one who gets too tired first. one night, you fell asleep to his voice, and since then, you feel like itâs the single best way to drift into dreams.
sam tries to avoid the topic of the supernatural, but you ask him about it anyway. as you get used to the idea of monsters being real, you find yourself wanting to understand it all better. you want to understand him better. and you donât want him to feel like he has to hide the biggest parts of his life from you or for him to have trouble fitting you into his world.
he always answers your questions, omitting any extreme gore or death, but it doesnât take long for you to realize how many people he really saves. thatâs his life; saving people.
it takes three weeks for you to see him again since the first night, and three more plus a whole lot of convincing on your end for him to bring you on a hunt with him. he tries to hide it, but heâs so worried for you, despite all the reassurances heâs made that this particular ghost isnât really all that violent or dangerous. by now, youâve already come to mostly believe all that he's told you, but to see it in real life is still the final confirmation that you need to be fully convinced.
sam keeps you by his side the whole time, one hand on you every moment that he can afford it. the second the ghost appears, he blasts it with a salt round from his shotgun, and he thinks he could cry when you flinch at the loud noise. yet, he feels comforted that you donât seem all too scared. and strangely, you really arenât. sam easily makes you feel safe. luckily, the next time the ghost appears, it bursts into flames moments later thanks to dean burning the bones.
the moment itâs gone, sam drops the gun to the ground and turns to you, accidentally ruining the now unnecessary salt line around you in his rush to check on you.
âare you okay?â he asks gently, a hand on your shoulder and the other cupping your cheek as he looks you up and down.
âiâm alright, sam,â you reassure. itâs true that youâre a little shaky, and just the tiniest bit scared, but to have your confirmation and sam by your side is much more important to you.
âiâm sorry,â he apologizes anyway, pulling you into a hug thatâs more for his peace of mind than yours. of course, you donât complain, easily finding his arms to be your new favorite place in the world.
oddly enough, taking it almost slow works well. he kisses you the next time he sees you, a week and a half later, and youâve never wanted anything more than to have him keep kissing you, over and over again. he just feels like yours and you feel like his and youâve barely known him for long, but when he kisses you itâs like thereâs stars hung from the ceiling and flowers made from nothing but love and healing growing all over you. when he kisses you itâs sunlight and moonglow bottled up and mixed with sweet, pure maple syrup. his lips on yours feel like lucky four leaf clovers, like itâs possible to taste heaven on someone elseâs tongue.
and though it mostly works for him to just visit as often as he can, which sometimes isnât often at all, and to call him at every moment you can, the yearning only grows. you swear that youâre addicted to his lips, to his big hands cupping your jaw all gentle and sweet or his bulky arms boxing you in as he kisses you so hard that you melt right into the sheets.
and some nights, though he tries to hide it, you can hear him struggling with what seems to be the weight of the world on his shoulders. his job is anything but easy or fruitful. before, you thought that you might worry less when you found out exactly why your soulmate was getting injured so often, but now every time new blooms appear on your skin, you spend all day fretting until you can get him on the phone to make sure heâs alright.
you suppose he gets just as worried as you, despite the fact that youâre never in nearly as much danger as he is. a week ago, a jagged edge on a metal wire fence snagged at your skin, drawing a very shallow, but long line of blood down your forearm. seconds later, you had a frantic sam on the phone, so worried about all the little blue flowers on his arm.Â
itâs not as hard as he thinks for you to tell how much fear and worry he lives in. you know that he doesnât tell you the half of it sometimes, even when you ask. all you want is to have him a little closer, to be there for him and provide the sort of comfort that youâre sure heâs never really had before. and though heâs told you that having you to talk to, so receptive and encouraging for him, has been a complete blessing, you still wish for more. you want his arms enveloping you and his lips on yours and his warm body in your bed. really, you just miss him. all the time.
â˘â˘â˘
tonight is one of the glorious nights that you get to have him with you. his broad frame takes up so much space in your bed, and you love it more than just about anything. he props himself up on one elbow and you mirror his pose as you let your eyes roam over each otherâs features and take turns rambling about every little thing from this past week. unable to resist, sam kisses you often. he just leans over, swiftly closing the small space between you and pressing his lips to yours. he looks so beautiful like this; at peace, his shirtless body and protective tattoo framed all prettily by clean white sheets.
eventually, comforting words turn into a comforting silence, and you drop your head to your pillow. your eyes droop a little as you play with the idea letting a few more words slip from your tongue. you want to say something to him, but you canât tell if itâs the right time.
sam settles on his pillow, just like you. âwhat is it?â he whispers, inviting and respectful. his voice tells you that youâre welcome to say whatever youâre thinking about, but that itâs okay if you donât want to quite yet.
you smile a little at how well heâs able to read you. since he asked so sweetly, you say it. âi canât be away from you, sam. i love you, i really do.â this isnât the first time youâve said the three special words to each other, but his eyes grow infinitely softer than they were before each time you do.
this time, his eyes do soften, but he cringes a little too, because he feels sorry and because he feels the same exact way. âi canât make you live like i do. i love you, too, so much. and i hate being away from you, but this? this life, itâ itâs sort of awful, and itâs dangerous and hard andââ
you swiftly cut him off with a kiss that he more than willingly melts into. âi know,â you whisper against his lips, barely moving from him to speak. âbutâ but what if we tried something else? you still go on your hunts and all that, but you and dean can stay here in between. thereâs this cabin in the woods iâve been eyeing, itâs sort of small but itâs isolated and we could ward it. iâve been looking into protection and warding spells, and i think we could make it work⌠only, you know, if you waââ
this time heâs the one to cut you off with a kiss, passionate and sweet all at once. when your lips part, he keeps his forehead pressed against yours like he canât bear to be any further from you.
âi want to,â he says, voice so sure and sturdy. âi really want to⌠but howâre we gonna get the house? itâs not like me or dean can buy property, and i canât make youââ
âi want to,â you echo his words, just as sincerely. âplease, sam, let me do this. iâve been saving money for a long time and itâs a little run down so itâs not too expensive. and iâm getting sick of this apartment.â
âyouâre gonna live there?â he asks, not bothering to hide his hope and sparkling joy at that idea.
you grin. âof course. thereâs three bedrooms and itâs so pretty and i canât, you know, pay for that and the apartment at the same time. and iâ i wanna be there every time you get home.â
that word gets to him. sam doesnât really have a solid or normal concept of homeâthe closest thing he has is the impala. but it sounds so right when it comes out of your mouth. âandâ and youâre okay with that?â he asks, still needing to be reassured, âyou said it was isolated, andââ
âiâm sure, sam,â you emphasize, âitâs only 20 minutes from town and the roads to and from are never busy. iâve always wanted to live in the woods, i swear. and if it meant i could be with you more, iâd never ever say no to this. please⌠can we talk to dean about it?â
âyes,â he gushes. âyes, of course, iâ youâre amazing.â he seals the deal with a firm, giddy kiss. âand if dean says he doesnât like the idea, i donât care. iâm gonna do this with you.â another kiss and your heart softens infinitely. âbesides, he loves the pie from the bakery on morrison street, which means he canât say no.â he gives you another kiss and pulls away again, and you know that heâs bound to keep rambling if you let him, so you wrap an arm around his neck and thread your fingers through his soft, pretty hair. then you kiss him hard until he canât breathe. he returns the favor by tenfold, whispering through labored breath how much he loves you and wants you and thinks that youâre the best thing thatâs ever happened to him.

How to cook in a medieval setting
Alright. As some of the people, who follow me for a longer while know... I do have opinions about cooking in historical settings. For everyone else a bit of backstory: When I was still LARPing, I would usually come to LARP as a camp cook, making somewhat historically accurate food and selling it for ingame coin. As such I know a bit about how to cook with a historical set up. And given I am getting so much into DnD and DnD stories right now, let me share a bit for those who might be interested (for example for stories and such).
đ˛Cooking at Home
First things first: For the longest time in history most people did not have actual kitchens. Because actual kitchens were rather rare. Most people cooked their food over their one fireplace at home, which looked something like what you see above. There was something made of metal hanging over the fireplace. At times this was on hinges and movable, at times it was set in place. You could hang pots and kettles over it. When it came to pans, people either had a mount they would put over the fire or some kind of grid they could easily put into place there with some sourts of mounts (like the two metal thingies you can see above).
If you have a modern kitchen, you are obviously used to cook on several cooktops (for most people it is probably four of them), while in this historical you obviously only had one fire. Of course, as you can also see in the picture above, you could often put two smaller pots over the flames or put in a pan onto the fire additionally. But yes, the way we cook in modern times is very different.
Because of this a lot of people often ate stews and soups of sort. You could make those in just one pot - and often could eat from the same stew for days. In a lot of taverns the people had an "everything stew" going, which worked on the idea that everyone just brought their food leftovers, which were all put into one pot everyone would eat from.
Now, some alert readers might have also noticed something: What about bread and pastries? If you only have one fireplace and no oven, how did people make bread?
Well, there were usually three different methods for this. The most common one was communal ovens. Often people had one communal oven in a neighborhood. Especially in a village there might just be a communal oven everyone would just put their bread in to bake. (Though often this oven would only be fired up once or twice a week.)
The second version to deal with this some people used was a sort of what we today call a dutch oven. A pot made either of metal or clay with a lit you would put into the hot coals and then put bread or pastries into that, baking it like that.
There was also a version where people just baked bread in pans on the fire, rotating the bread during the baking process. At least some written accounts we have seem to imply. (Never tried this method, though. I have no idea how this might work. My camp bread was mostly done in dutch ovens or as stickbread.)
Keep in mind that the fireplace at home was very important for the people in historical times. Because it was their one source of warmth in the house.
đď¸ Cooking at Camp
Technically speaking cooking at camp is not that different - with the exception of course that you have to drag all your supplies along. And while in Baldur's Gate 3 and most other videogames you can carry around several sets of full-plate armor and several pounds of ingredients so that dear Gale can whip something up... In real life as an adventurer running around you need to make decisions on what to take along.
If you have read Lord of the Rings, you might remember how many people have criticized Sam for actually dragging all his cooking supplies along and how sad he was for not being able to cook for most of the time, because they were very limited in taking ingredients along.
So, yes, if you are an adventurer who is camping out in the open, you will probably need to do a lot of hunting and gathering to eat during your travels. You can take food for a couple of days along, but not for a lot.
A special challenge is of course, that while you can cook food for several days when you are at homes, you do not want to drag along a prepared stew for several days. So usually you will cook in smaller batches.
A lot of people who were journeying would often just take along one or two pots along.
So, what would you eat as an adventurer travelling around while trying to save the world from some evil forces? Well, it would depend on the time of the year of course. You would probably hunt yourself some food. For example hares, birds or squirrels. Mostly small things you can eat within one or two days. You do not want to drag along half a dead deer. In the warm months you might also forrage for all sorts of greens. You also can cook with many sorts of roots. Of course you can also always look into berries and other fruits you might find.
Things you might bring with you might be salt and some spices. A good thing to bring along would be herbs for tea, too, because I can tell you from experience that water you might have gotten from a river does not always taste very well - and springs with fresh water are often not accessible.
Now, other than what you can access the basic ideas of camping fires and cooking with them has not changed in the last few thousand years. While modern people camping usually have a car nearby and hence will have access to a lot of ingredients. But the general ideas of how to build a fire and put a pot over it... has not really changed.
So, yeah.
Just keep in mind that for the most part in historical settings until fairly recently, there was not much terms of proper kitchens. People cooked over an open fire and hence had to get at times ingenius about it.

Safety First
Sam and Dean Winchester & little sister!reader
Requested by Anonymous
Synopsis: you get kidnapped, and the boys have to find a way to find you
Warnings: hurt feelings, reader gets drugged, kidnapped, and injured (slightly). Panic attack, angst with a happy ending
âDean.â Your voice was thick with sleep as the Impala approached a bar late at night. âWhy arenât we going to the motel?â
âI want to stop in here first,â Dean grumbled. The day of driving had worn him down, and heâd been a bit grumpy for the past few hours. âMaybe weâll find someone who saw something.â
âItâs late,â you complained. âCanât we do that tomorrow? I mean, we already know that itâs probably vampires.â
âIâm not gonna take a chance on that just so you can go to sleep,â Dean snapped. âWe canât ever afford to be stupid with this job, you know that. Stay in the car if you want.â
And Dean was out of the car before Sam could tell him off for being a jerk.
âHeâs just tired,â Sam offered lamely. âWhy donât you come in and get a soda or something, this shouldnât take long,â he added, but he didnât wait for a response as he followed Dean into the bar.
You swallowed a few times to try to lessen the lump in your throat as you climbed out of the car. You wrapped your arms around yourself as the cold air bit into your skin, cursing yourself for even opening your mouth. How could you be selfish like that when people were dying? Hadnât dad and Dean always told you the hunt came first, especially when innocent people were in danger?
âWe canât ever afford to be stupid with this job.â
Dean was rightâyou were stupid, and now Dean thought you cared more about sleep than about being safe for the hunt.
You shuffled your way into the bar, trying to keep yourself from crying while also trying to convince yourself that Dean was just grumpy, and he would forget about your complaining before the night was even out. You didnât want him to think that you were selfish or stupid.
You almost didnât noticed when you entered the bar, except for the fact that you smacked face-first into someoneâs chest.
âS-sorry,â you muttered, feeling worse than ever as you tried to squeeze around the poor person that you had just barreled into.
âNo problem,â a honey-sweet voice tickled your ears as a kind face came into your view. A dark-haired man with a smile just as sweet as his voice was looking down at you. âI like your shirt,â he added.
âOhâŚthanks,â you said, the corners of your mouth twitching into a smile, your gloomy mood lifting just a little. It was your favorite shirt, and any compliment right now helped your low spirits.
âYou look like youâre having a rough night. Can I buy you a drink?â
âOh, umâŚâ your senses were suddenly raised. Who was this guy, and what did he want? You were obviously underage, so whyâŚ
âA soda,â he added quickly, sensing your unease. âIâm sorry, I must seem like kind of a creeper, itâs justâŚitâs not very common to see a kid in hereâin fact, Iâm surprised you got let inâand I want to make sure youâre ok. Are youâŚok?â
You felt yourself relaxing just a bitâthis was just a nice stranger concerned about a kid in a bar. Maybe your hunterâs sense wasnât as good as you thought, and youâd just been nervous for nothing.
âIâm ok. My brothers areâŚaround here somewhere. But Iâd love a soda.â
âGreat!â The man led you through the crowd of drunk adults and to a barstool. âA soda and a beer, please,â he said to the bartender, who glanced at you for a long moment before turning to get the drinks.
The dark haired man passed you your drink when the bartender placed it in front of him, and once you had it you found suddenly that you didnât know what to do or say. You didnât know anything about this guy, and you couldnât really tell him anything about you, so what were you supposed to say? You took a long sip of your drink, trying to make the silence seem comfortable.
âDo your brothers take you to bars often?â The man asked, a hint of humor in his voice trying to mask obvious concern.
âOnly when we go somewhere new,â you said, trying not to lie but also trying not to alarm the man. âI guess they think itâs a good way to meet new people.â You took another long sip, hoping that the man wouldnât start to ask any hard questions. You didnât want to lie to this kind stranger.
But he didnât ask any more questionsâwhich was good, because your exhaustion seemed to be catching up to you again. You found yourself struggling to lift your eyelids, and after a few unintentionally long blinks you began to look around for your brothers. You spotted Dean in a corner, and you were about to slide off your seat and go to him when you remembered what heâd said.
âIâm not gonna take a chance on that just so you can go to sleep.â
You would just have to force yourself to stay awakeâŚ
But for some reason, you couldnât, and the harder you tried the more you felt your whole body starting to sag, drooping down like a melting ice cream cone.
Hands suddenly caught you under your arms as you slipped off your chair, and you vaguely registered that it was the dark haired stranger. You tried to speak, but your mouth was just too numbâit felt like it was stuffed with cotton balls, and even though you got your jaw to open, you couldnât force any sound out.
Between sleepy blinks, your eyes found those of the dark haired man. You couldnât quite tell because of the fog in your mind, but as you finally lost your grip on consciousness you could swear that the eyes that met yours were pitch blackâŚ
âŚ
âSam.â Sam turned to see his older brother behind him, glancing around the bar. âItâs time to go. Whereâs Y/N?â
âShe came in right behind me, I thought she went to find you,â Sam offered as he joined Dean in the glancing search.
âWhat? No I thought she was with you,â Dean replied, looking suddenly more panicked.
âAlright, Iâll check this half, you look over there,â Sam said, trying to ebb his rising fear.
Twenty minutes later, they still couldnât find you. Sam had even sent some woman into the womenâs bathroom to look for you, with no results. Dean got the same lack of you when he went to search the Impala.
âDo you think she ran off?â Dean voiced the concern that had been nagging his mind since the moment he couldnât find you. âIâŚI didnât mean to snap at her like that, really.â
âShe wouldnât have left because of that,â Sam assured him, having thought of the same thing. âYou hurt her, I do know that, but she wouldnât have run.â
Dean cringed at Samâs words.
âI really screwed up, didnât I?â
âKind of,â Sam sighed. âYou can apologize if we find her.â
âWhen we find her,â Dean corrected harshly, hoping that he was right.
âŚ
Pain pounded behind your eyes before you even opened them. Once you did lift your eyelids, it took you several long, panicky seconds before you could even tell the difference between opened and closed.
It was nearly pitch black around you, with only vague shapes making themselves known in the darkness. The floor was rough and scratchy beneath you, and it was cold to the touch when you put your hands down to push yourself up. You only made it halfway to your feet before an unexpected force biting into your wrist held you down, and the shock of it dropped you back to your knees. The rattle of chains accompanied your fall.
âHello?â Your voice echoed off stone walls, tinny and weak. No reply came.
You tugged at the chain on your wrist, and found that it only allowed about a couple feet of clearance, which was why you could barely stand with it attached to the floor.
The weight of your situation hit you at the same time as your memoryâŚ
The manâthe demon!âfrom the bar. He mustâve slipped something into your drink, and now who knew where you were?
âHelp!â You cried out between your sudden panicked gasps of breath. You rubbed at your chest as it began to tighten in fear. âSomebody help me, please!â
Your voice bounced uselessly off the walls, your own desperation mocking you as it reverberated back to your ears.
A harsh scraping preceded a sudden burst of light as a door you hadnât been able to see against the far wall started to open.
âSheâs awake!â The kind voice didnât sound so kind anymore, and the gentle features were twisted into a sickening smirk. âAnd how is our little visitor?â The dark haired demon stepped into your cell, and the light pouring in through the open door allowed you to see his raven black eyes.
âWhere am I?â You demanded. âWhat do you want?â
âBoth of those questions are on a need to know basis, and you donât,â the man responded, chuckling cruelly.
âItâs not gonna work,â you insisted. âIt-it doesnât matter what youâre doing, because my brothersââ
The stinging pain of a strong hand against your face stopped your threats. The man moved so quickly that you had barely even seen him step towards you before heâd swung, slapping you backwards so that the back of your head slammed against the stone wall and your wrist was stopped painfully by the chain around in. You staggered forwards, tasting blood and trying to get the rusted chain to settle at a different part of your wristâone not cut from the abuse it had suffered.
âYou talk too much,â the man growled. âTry to threaten me again, and youâll get a lot worse.â
You didnât speak as the man pulled a cell phone from his back pocket and dialed. After a moment, he spoke.
âHello, Winchesters. Now now, thereâs no need for threats, I just want to chat. I found your little sister, you see, and Iâd like to give her back. However, Iâve hit a problem; you boys have been sniffing around where you shouldnât. Youâre in the wrong town, and I want you to leave. As soon as we know youâre gone, weâll take this little brat of yours and put her on a bus, and sheâll be back to you safe and sound. If notâŚwell, weâll be shipping her in a tiny little box instead.â
You found yourself sinking to your knees as the demon talked to one of your brothers, exhausted from the pounding in your head and weak from fear.
âOh?â The manâs tone suddenly changed, and you found yourself trying to melt into the shadows as you shrunk away from him. âYou want proof, huh?â He pulled the phone away from his face, and suddenly his black eyes were on you. âYour big brothers donât believe that youâre here. How about we fix that?â Almost before you could blink, your arm was twisted behind your back and the demon was yanking you to your feet. He twisted you around and shoved you face-first against the stone wall. The wall was just barely too far away from the chain around your wrist, but the force of the demonâs blow had your wrist twisting at an odd angle against the chain, and it was enough for your nose to crash against the rough stone.
The cry of pain left you before you could even think to stifle it. You could barely hear the muffled protests of your brothers on the phone before the demon put the phone back to his ear and spoke again.
âNow, was that enough or do I need to get some real screams from her?âŚThats what I thought. Be out of town by tonight, orâŚwell, you already know.â
The demon threw the phone against the wall, and it shattered. He was out the door by the time the last broken piece hit the floor, and a moment later the door swung shut and you were once again plunged into darkness.
âŚ
âDid you track it?â Dean asked, waiting with bated breath for his little brotherâs response.
âYes.â Sam took a deep breath. âDean, are you sure about this? Maybe if we leave, sheâll be safer.â
Dean shook his head.
âItâs a demon, Sam. Heâs not going to let her go, heâs gonna kill her. We have to do this, we have to save her.â
âAlright,â Sam sighed. âAlright, letâs go.â He watched Dean for a moment before speaking again. âAre you ok?â
Dean ran a hand over his face.
âThe last thing I said to herââ
âDonât,â Sam snapped. âDonât do that to yourself. Weâre going to find her, and youâre going to apologize to her. Thatâs not gonna be the last thing you said to her, because weâre going to get her back.â
âShe just wanted to go to sleep,â Dean muttered, not listening to Sam. âIf we hadnât gone into that barâif I had just listened to herââ
âDean, stop. Weâre going to save her. I know we will.â
âŚ
You hadnât realized how dark it was, or how much youâd appreciated the light from the open door, until you lost it. Your breaths came up shallow and unsatisfying as you cradled your dislocated wrist to your chest. You curled your knees under you, folding in on yourself as you hyperventilated. You closed your eyes tightly and tried to imagine that your big brothers were hereâlike they were the last time youâd had a panic attack.
You were on a hunt, and a vampire had knocked you to the floor before jumping on top of you and biting into your neck. You shrieked and struggled as the pain flooded your system.
Dean arrived almost immediately, but he couldnât get a clear shot to lob the vampâs head off without risking slicing your throat. He dropped his machete and tried to wrench the vampire away from you, but it was no use until Sam was able to join him and together the two of them tore the vampire away. Once he was off, it took a simple swing from Dean to take care of him.
You were lying on the floor, lifting your head away from the pool of blood that now covered the floor.
âDean,â you whimpered as your breathing shallowed. You gingerly touched your neck, panicking even more when you noticed that the bleeding wouldnât stop. âDean!â You cried out again, terrified as your throat constricted from your panic and your head spun from the blood loss.
âHey, hey.â Deanâs hands were on your face, cradling it gently as his green eyes danced in front of you. âYouâve gotta breathe baby, just breathe.â
âIâve got you.â You felt Samâs arms around your shoulder as he helped you into a more comfortable sitting position and supported you up. âBreathe with me, ok? InâŚoutâŚinâŚâ
With Sam counting off your breaths and Dean repeating. âYouâre ok sweetheart, youâre safe, youâre safe,â you were slowly able to breathe through your panic attack.
But you didnât have Sam or Dean now, and you couldnât seem to grab hold of a single comforting thought as you sobbed and choked over each breath, unable to get air in, and unable to stop panicking about the lack of air.
The sound of the door opening and the blinding light that came with it barely registered as you rocked back and forth on your knees. That is, until you were suddenly yanked to your feet and a pair of black eyes were staring into yours.
âGuess who just didnât leave town,â he taunted, and it was then that you saw the gleaming knife gripped in his hand. âAnd guess whoâs gonna pay for it.â
âYou are.â Your brain had barely registered the sound of your big brotherâs voice before the black-eyed manâs eyes glowed yellow, then dimmed as he slumped to the floor, dead. âHey sweetheart.â Dean stood behind where the demon had just been, blood dripping off the demon blade in his hand.
âDean.â Your breathing had evened a little, but you were still crying as you reached out for your big brother. Your arm was stopped by the chain as Dean stepped over the demonâs body and grabbed hold of your shoulders.
âAre you hurt? Youâre bleeding! Are youââ Deanâs eyes landed on the cuffs, and he quickly pulled out a lock pick and got to work on it. As soon as you were free, you tried to wrap your arms around Dean, but he kept his hands on your shoulders as he surveyed your injuries.
âDean,â you whimpered. âIâm-Iâm so sorry, I didnât know he was a demon, I didnâtââ
âHey, heyâŚâ Dean soothed. âNone of this was your fault, not one bit. Youâre safe now, Iâm gonna get you home.â
âHey kiddo,â Samâs voice in the doorway turned your attention. âOhh youâre safe,â Sam breathed in relief as he pulled you into his arms.
âSammy,â you sobbed as you gripped onto his arm with one hand, holding your injured wrist close to your chest to protect it.
âAre you hurt?â Dean was still tugging at your shoulder, trying to assess your injuries. He stopped his tugging when he heard your whimpers and saw you trying to burrow closer to Sam. âHey, you ok?â
âI-I thought heâŚI thought he was gonnaâŚheâŚâ you couldnât seem to voice the fears that flooded your mind and stopped your breath.
âIâve got you.â Samâs arms tightened around you. âNobodyâs gonna hurt you, youâre okâŚyouâre ok.â
âCommere.â Dean wrapped you in his arms when Sam pulled away to make sure no demons were coming. âIâm gonna get you homeâyouâre ok now, I swear.â
Sam and Dean led you out of your cell and out towards the Impala, Deanâs arm wrapped around you the whole way. As soon as you were in the Impala, Dean had your arm in his hand as he inspected your wrist.
âDislocated,â he decided. âIâm gonna have toâŚâ
âJust do it,â you sniffled, shutting your eyes tightly.
âIâll do it,â Sam volunteered, glancing at Dean. The two of them had a psychic moment before Sam took your small wrist delicately in his big hands and Dean crouched in front of you.
âAre you gonna start making stupid jokes?â You asked, already smiling as Dean grinned.
âCâmon now, you love my jokes,â Dean said. âNow, a priest and a demon walk into a barââ
Deanâs goofy grin and cocky attitude already had you giggling when Samâs fingers suddenly stiffened on your wrist and he twisted it into place.
You hissed in pain, cringing.
âI know, I know,â Sam soothed, pulling you into his arms. âI know, youâre ok now.â
âLet me get the rest of you cleaned up,â Dean said, gesturing at the scratches on your face and the blood across your lips and chin from your nose.
Sam pulled away as Dean took a first aid kit out of the trunk. Dean glanced sideways at Sam, who took the cue and slipped into the passengers seat to give you at least the semblance of privacy.
âIâm sorry,â Dean said. âFor what I said to you, how I actedâŚand for letting you get taken.â
âIt wasnât your fault,â you sniffled as Dean rubbed antiseptic against your cuts. âI shouldâve known he was a demon, I shouldâveââ
âNo,â Dean interrupted. âNo, donât do that. I shouldâve been watching out for you, Iââ
âOk, enough!â Sam interrupted, shattering the illusion that he wasnât listening. âIt doesnât matter whose fault it was. Youâre ok now, and thatâs all I care about.â
âI thought you wanted me to apologize,â Dean argued as a smile slowly crept onto his lips. Sam shook his head, unable to fight the lightheartedness that was creeping into the conversation. He chuckledâ
âI wanted you to apologize for being a jerk, you idiot, not to have a fight about whose fault this was.â
You started to laugh, brushing the tears off your cheeks as you smiled. Dean turned to look at you, the grin still etched on his face.
âCommere you,â he said, pulling you back into his arms. âSamâs right, Iâm just glad youâre ok.â
âMe too,â you mumbled into his shoulder as you relaxed in his arms. Sam reached back, ruffling your hair.
âMe three.â

Cave boy Danny starts talking about one of the debates Tucker and Sam without mentioning their names when asked who the two are,Danny panics again and says that Sam is Selina since that's not that big of a jump when he starts saying her name
"One of my best friends would agree with you." Brucie suddenly speaks up one night at Dinner when Damian rants about his school not offering enough Vegetarian options. "She is an ultra-recyclo-vegetarian."
Bruce blinks having never heard the term before. A quick glance around the table tells him that neither have the others. Must be slang from his universe then. "What does that mean?"
"She doesn't eat anything with a face," Brucie explains. The curve of his lips has the tiniest amount of bestowed fondness that could only come from infatuation. Oh, Brucie is sweet on the girl. Bruce feels mildly alarmed as all his kids and Alfred sits up in interest when spotting it.
Unaware of what he just unwillingly gave away Brucie continues "Not to be confused with being a vegan because she will eat bread and cheese, but not often. She gets real mad when people mislabel her."
Dick grins, leaning over his forgotten dinner to pin Brucie under an eager stare. "I bet. Mislabeling is the worst."
"It is!" Brucie agrees, seemingly satisfied that someone else feels the same. "Especially when getting her to like you is like trying to get a cat's approval. But it's totes worth it when you do. No one has your back better than her."
A....cat's loyalty? Oh no. Surely it couldn't be-?
"What's your best friend's name?" Steph speaks up asking what's on everyone's mind. They all lean in a little closer as Brucie mindlessly gathers some rice on his fork.
"Her name is Sa-" Brucie takes a bite of his rice before swallowing. It takes everything in him not to quote Alfred and scold him for speaking with his mouth full. How Brucie grew up with such manners, Bruce would never know. "Selina! Her name is Selina."
Oh.
It seemed even in another world Bruce's heart would fall into Selina Kyle's hands.
His kids all but burst into cheers. Even Jason, and that was very hard to accomplish in the last few years.
"I knew it! I knew it!"
"Of course, it's Selina! Who else could it have been?"
"I suppose Kyle is not too horrid a partner for Father."
Duke and Cass high-five while Alfred seems to be glowing in parental pride as the other kids chat about his on-and-off girlfriend again. If a civilian version of himself still fell for her, Bruce could convince his Selina to quit the crime life and be his permanently.
Brucie stares a comprehensive eye around the table, so Bruce takes pity on him.
"I have a Selina as well. My kids....enjoy her company." He says, watching blue eyes swing at him as tiny black bangs fall slightly over them. It's adorable, and he finally understands why he had so many admirers. He bets civilian Brucie breaks just as many, if not more, hearts than he did at that age. "How long have you known Selina for?"
"Um...since she moved to my school when we were ten, so about four years, give or take?" Brucie shrugs, a slight blush overtaking his face. "She's great."
Oh, Bruce bet she is.
"Wait." Tim suddenly speaks up, eyes narrow in mistrust. Bruce had noticed before that the second youngest was suspicious of their dimensional visitor. He had been meaning to pull him aside to talk about it. "You said one of your best friends. Who is the other?"
"...Ethan. My other best friend is Ethan," Brucie says after a moment. He must mean Ethan Bennett. Bruce thinks wistfully of the old days when he would play basketball with his dear friend before he was lost in Clayface.
But why did Brucie pause on Ethan's name like that? It almost seemed like he was very carefully selecting that name or was trying to control his facial reaction to it.
A familiar blush bloomed over Brucie's checks and- oh. The boy had spoken about wishing he was from a world where bisexuality was more common, didn't he?
It would make sense. It's not like Ethan hadn't crossed his mind once or twice when Bruce was a teenager, either.
Tim's eyes narrow further. "I don't believe you."
"And I believe you can't stand the sight of your reflection because you're convinced no one will ever want it either." Brucie cheerfully chirps back before closing his eyes and sighing as if tired. He slumps in his chair, leaning his head against the headrest. "Sorry, that was mean. I'm trying to be less mean."
Bruce frowns at him, aware of Tim's eyes going glossy to his right but his son doesn't seem to want to step away. All conversation stops as they glare daggers at Brucie. Dick especially seems the most upset. "That was uncool Brucie"
"Yeah, sorry force of habit. My older sister and I-"
"Your what?" Bruce cuts him off, wondering if he heard right.
"My older sister?"
"You have a sister?"
"Yeah, don't you?"
"No," Bruce whispers. "No, I don't. I'm an only child."
"Oh. I'm the second youngest. I have an older sister, an older brother, and a younger sister." Brucie turns over to Tim to offer a sincere apology that the other gracious takes, but Bruce can't hear him over the sound of blood rushing between his ears.
"Mother and Father had more children?"
"Kind of." Brucie's face twists slightly in consideration. "Tommy and Harley are adopted. They are technically cousins since they were made by my uncle Vlad. Kate.....my older sister Kate, is my aunt Alicia's bio-kid but she was raised by my parents since she was one since Aunt Alicia wasn't...in the best mental state to care for her. No hard feelings are between them."
"Tommy, as in Tommy Elliot?!" Dick gasps, springing to his feet. "He is your adoptive older brother!?"
Brucie appears startled by his reaction, but he nods all the same. Bruce feels dread sink into his stomach.
"He's evil!" Dick shouts.
"I know." Brucie shrugs, uncaring. "Tommy has some issues, and he had them since he was...fourteen, but he's not dangerous.."
"Did you all miss that he said Harley is his younger sister? Harley as in Harleen Quinzel?" Jason cuts in, twisting to pin Brucie with a hard stare. "That's her real name, isn't it?"
"Well, her real name is Harleen Wayne, but she prefers Harley," Bruice says carefully. "Why? Do you know her?"
"She's evil too!" Dick gasps. "Brucie, you're in terrible danger with those two around!"
"Nah, Kate will stop them." Brucie waves his hand. "Sides Tommy and Harley are always traveling. Neither are home much these days."
Bruce feels a headache growing behind his eyes as Dick desperately tries to explain what happens to Brucie's adoptive siblings in their world. At the same time, his counterpart argues on his sibling's behalf.
(No one knows about the electric candles disappearing from the dinner table as the house descends into madness, trying to make the dimension travel realize his danger. Even fewer are aware of Danny's silent apology to Sam, Tucker, Jazz, Dan, or Dani for butchering their names and somehow still connecting them to someone in this world.)

âI miss you, sweetheart.â Dean's words came out almost desperately.Â
The giggling of your response through the phone speaker sent a pang of hurt through his body. He was so sick of being away from you. On hunts these days, Dean felt like he was just going through the motions. He used to enjoy hunting, at least to some extent. He felt a sense of satisfaction and purpose when he ganked the monster and saved the day. But ever since you came into his life, nothing satisfied him like you did.
âWhen will you be home?â Your sweet voice bounced around in his mind and he held tight to the shape of your words, imagining them in the shape of you. Sometimes, when his eyes darted up to check the rearview mirror, he would swear he could almost see you perched back there, nodding along to the music and throwing him a cheeky grin.
A few days was the answer to your question, though he didnât like it very much. Hunts these days felt lonelier than ever, and a routine three-day hunt stretched into lifetimes apart from you. Of course, his brother was right there next to him, thumbing through newspapers and lore books. Sam would jump right into discussing this next case the second Dean snapped the phone shut. But he wouldnât hang up just yet. Heâd hang on to this little scrap of you for as long as he could.
The hunt would go on longer than expected, like they always did. Each snag in the road would enrage Dean. He was always desperate, needy, longing to return home to you. More often than not, Sam would catch him distracted. Heâd be staring off into space while researching, or zoning out while interviewing a victimâs family member. He just wasnât on his game. It was like he wasnât fully there- a piece of him was always left behind, his heart all those miles away, tucked into your gentle hands for safekeeping until he returned.
Eventually, things would come to an end and the boys would emerge victorious- sweaty, tired, and often bloody, but nonetheless victorious. Before Dean had you, car rides after a successful hunt were full of classic rock sing-alongs and lazy diner stops. It used to be a common occurrence to stick around, hit the local dive bar, celebrate a little. These days, however, when the bodies hit the floor and the case was said and done, Dean put the pedal to the metal. The second their work was done, he was ready to hit the road. Sometimes, Sam would turn away to say goodbye and offer some comfort to a victim, and when he turned back around, like magic, their bags were all packed and Dean was already posted in the driverâs seat, revving the engine and honking the horn. âLetâs go, Sammy.â As they hit the open road, Dean would press his foot down, reveling in the growl of the Impalaâs engine as they barrelled down the highway en route home to his girl.Â
There was a familiar routine when Dean returned from a long hunt. Youâd always have some sort of meal ready, no matter the time of day, knowing he would be returning tired and hungry. Heâd stroll in dramatically, tossing his bag down and throwing some sassy remark like âHoney, Iâm home.â When youâd run up to him all smiles, he would wrap you in a hug that radiated the genuine love you had been missing. Heâd pepper your face with kisses, absentmindedly recounting stories of the hunt that seemed boring now. Once he had you again, back in front of his eyes and in his arms, nothing else mattered.Â
In the days between hunts, when life was normal for as long as you each could manage, Dean wouldnât leave your side. Heâd follow you from room to room, lingering in your presence for as long as possible. His eyes were always locked on you, drinking you in. He couldnât get enough. Most often, he was quiet. His love for you was strong, silent, reverent, yet ever-present. But there were always moments where the feelings inside him became too much. They bubbled up inside him and threatened to spill out uncontrollably. It was in moments like this where he attempted to turn his sentiments into words.Â
âI love you so much, you know that?â Dean spoke from his spot next to you as the two of you washed the dishes from dinner. Your beauty made the mundane so fascinating. He could see your face reflected in the shine of the plate you were drying, capturing your form in a way that was so uniquely you, and yet, could never live up to the real thing.Â
âI love you too, Dean,â you hummed in response, a smile tugging at the corners of your lips as you placed the final dish into the cabinet.
âNo, seriously.â He wrung his hands, turning from the now-empty sink to face you. âYouâre home now, kid. Itâs always gonna be you. I hate leaving, but Iâm always coming back to you.âÂ
You smiled, wiping your hands on your jeans before taking Deanâs. You lifted his arms up, wrapping them around your shoulders and allowing him to pull you close. There you stood in the kitchen, swaying gently to a song that wasnât there, yet you both could hear it so clearly. It was as if you could feel your life together growing up around you, sprouting and blooming. This was home, where Dean would always return. And youâd always be waiting.

Mistaken Identities (dp x dc)
Danny had been doing his thing, looking around, making sure he didn't alter anything in the past, minding his own business. Officially, this was supposed to be a trip to gather more blood blossom samples for Team Phantom to study, but he had ended up being a little sidetracked. Apparently though, puritan times made for beautiful forests, sue him if he was enjoying a moment of peace in his otherwise crazy life. So here he was, relaxing for the first time in way too long when this guy just barged into the clearing. Danny straightened up with a yelp which had the guy stopping in his tracks before he turned to look at Danny.
"Be not afraid, child. I mean you no harm," the man said.
Danny squinted as he looked up at the half-shadowed face of the man that seemed vaguely familiar.
"Boy?"
"Uh-" Danny managed as he realized he was supposed to answer. "Oh yeah, no problem, man."
The man tilted his head which directed Danny's attention to his weird buckle-hat. Sobering up as he recognized the clothes from his previous jaunt in the past where Sam had almost gotten burnt at the stake, he mentally congratulated himself for turning back into a human before his nap. He really didn't want to end up trapped in blood blossoms by witch-finders again.
"Are you lost?" The man said, as he edged closer. "Do you require aid?"
The halfa jumped to his feet. "Nope!" Danny said before letting out a nervous laugh. "No aid, I'm all good. Thanks though."
The man opened his mouth to say something before another voice, higher pitched stopped him. "You are back!" A woman wearing a simple dress, with a few birds fluttering around her like a Disney princess approached them.
"Annie," answered the man.
"Come," she said before leading him away with only a glance towards the teenager. The man let himself be dragged away, but not before a last few words. "If you are ever in need of assistance, please do not hesitate."
Danny waved his hand. "Yep. For sure, dude. Thanks!"
Then before the man had turned away completely, the woman grabbed his hat playfully which revealed his face completely to the weak moonlight, and coincidentally to Danny's view. The couple disappeared between the thick foliage as Danny sat, struck dumb with what he had just witnessed.
"Oh my god," he whispered to himself. "That was Bruce fucking Wayne."
Danny had seen enough rag magazines and newspapers with his face printed on the cover to recognize the billionaire for sure. What the hell was he doing in Puritan times? Then, it hit Danny like a brick. Natural portals. They weren't common, or stable and they'd been known to spirit away people randomly. Clearly, they also had some pretty severe side-effects including amnesia considering the old-timey speech pattern Mr. Wayne was using.
There was only one thing for it, Danny clearly had to bring Mr. Wayne back to the present. Not only because it was the right thing to do, but also because a missing billionaire was bound to attract a good amount of attention and if anyone connected this to the ghost zone... Well if the GIW was bad now, Danny didn't want to know what other kind of unsavoury people would pop up if ghosts were better-known. Just imagining the Justice League getting involved was giving Danny the shivers. No, the best thing to do was get Mr. Wayne back to his time and hope he wouldn't remember much of what had happened and wouldn't dig into it further.
Just as he was nodding to himself, he heard a scream coming from not too far away. He transformed before flying towards the noise, only to find the woman he'd seen before with Mr. Wayne being captured by a bunch of men wearing the same kinds of hat.
"She's a witch! Burn her!" He heard someone yell. "Hang her dead!" Someone else said.
This was giving Danny some major flashback to Sam's very own witch burning and without wasting a second, he phased the woman right out of their grips and flew them away from the angry mob.
As soon as he landed and let go of the woman, she turned to him and gripped his arm instead. "You have to help him!"
"Help who?" Danny asked, wincing.
"Mordecai!" she said, her grip tight.
"Is that the man who was with you earlier?" the teenager asked.
The woman nodded before pointing southeast. "He is in the caves, fighting the dragon!"
Danny didn't waste anytime before flying in the direction she had pointed to. Going intangible helped with speed, and he phased through the ground, going straight for the aforementioned cave. He just phased through when he caught sight of Mr. Wayne. As he got closer, he could feel some sort of energy radiating from the man. Just then, the energy started building up and Mr. Wayne started to go transparent. Panicking, Danny did the first thing he could think of and absorbed the mounting energy to himself. It felt like a shot of adrenaline except way, way stronger and for a moment everything blanked out, before the world came into focus again. When he looked around, he couldn't find a trace of Mr. Wayne, but from the energy left over he could tell exactly when he had landed. The Golden Age of Piracy.
"Goddamit!" Danny yelled as he once again felt Bruce Wayne slip through his grasp as he stole away the potent energy from the billionaire's body before it could follow wherever he was going next. First it had been pirates, then the Wild West and lastly it was 20th century Gotham, clearly the natural portal had been all kinds of fucked up for Mr. Wayne to have been dragged from time period to time period. It was a miracle he was even still alive, the poor man! Danny let out a harsh sigh as he parsed out through the information the energy had left him with. This time he'd gotten the information for the two next time-jumps, which meant, Danny could get ahead of this for once and finally catch Mr. Wayne before he could jump again.
With a steadying intake of breath, Danny took out the Infiniv-map and set his destination before he let himself follow through. As he got through he could hear a bunch of different voices, all talking over each other.
"-distortions mean what I think it-"
"-not fair!"
"-time is breaking-"
"-only leave his body once he's dead."
Danny paid no mind as he locked eyes on Mr. Wayne who was lying in Wonder Woman's arms, in a black bodysuit, looking worse for the wear. The same energy as before was emanating from him, though this time it was even stronger. Danny approached carefully, invisible before he put a hand onto Mr. Wayne's chest and concentrated on drawing all the energy into himself. It wasn't like the other times, the flow was faster and he was having trouble staying focused as more and more flew into him. His brows scrunched in concentration, and unbeknownst to him, the invisibility dropped.
All the heroes in the room turned to look at the suddenly appearing white-haired teen who had a hand on Batman's chest. As they stared in confusion, the teen started to glow. It grew brighter and brighter before everyone had to shield their eyes as there was a pulse of bright light that died down almost immediately after. Wonder Woman had to blink the spots out of her vision as she felt the weight in her arms start to shift and let out a groan. "Bruce!"
She set him down and helped him put his head between his knees, as she gently stroked his back. Superman settled on his other side while Red Robin just sat in front of him, still half-believing Bruce was really back.
"What happened?" Bruce mumbled. "The omega radiation, I thought-"
"I'd like to know that too," Green Lantern said before he turned towards the glowy kid who was still blinking his eyes as if to chase away afterimages.
"His energy signature is the same as Darkseid," Raven said, her own eyes having not left the teenager since he had appeared.
"You don't mean..." started Superman as all the heroes turned to look at the kid slowly. The latter finally looked up as if sensing he was the focus of many eyes and cringed as he met the combined stares of the Justice League.
"Yes," Raven answered. "This is Darkseid's son."
#my guy Danny has no idea what is going on#at least nobody's shooting at him#he would still like to know who is that Darkseid guy and why do these people think he's his dad#dc x dp#dp x dc#danny is Darkseid's son#(at least that's what the justice league think)#this is what happens when you absorb unknown energy willy-nilly#it's just not sanitary who knows where that energy could have come from tsk tsk#I just read Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne#so just know this is entirely based off of that#('that' being that period when Bruce was lost in time)#roxpox#roxpoxwrote

affection || sam golbach
smut 18+, minors dni
part two is here
the finale is here
Sam Golbach knew you were a bad idea. He knew it from the moment Colby drunkenly brought you home on his arm.
Sam had hoped you would be a one night stand for Colby, something that was common for his best friend.
But you werenât.
You and Colby were stuck like glue, and Sam never had a moment of peace once you joined their lives.
It always amazed him that you were able to keep up with their fast paced lives, always making time in your own business schedule for their adventures.
Whether it was flying to Boston or going to Waffle House at one am, you never minded going.
And Sam grew to resent that.
Even when he was with Kat, she was often more hesitant. Sam knew no matter how much he adored Kat, she wanted to settle down.
No matter how much in denial Sam was, he just wasnât ready for that.
Yet you, his best friends girlfriend, were more than Sam couldâve ever hoped for.
But you just werenât his.
It took a year or so before Colby got bored. Sam watched it happen, ever so slowly. The way his gaze shifted to the waitresses at the restaurants they went to. Or the way he watched him slyly respond to other girls instagram dms. Sam was convinced he noticed Colbyâs shift in behavior sooner than you did.
Then the fighting started. You two rarely ever fought, and Sam could hear every last word.
You had a hard time handling your emotions, admittedly feeling insane as Colby denied your allegations. But you noticed it all. The way his hand left yours quicker. The way he hid his phone more. Your sex life declining.
You often found yourself envying Sam and Kat, who seemed to have the perfect relationship to you. She was excited to ghost hunt with the boys. You knew she wanted Sam to settle down quicker and you applauded her tolerance to his hesitation. You overheard her moans overpowering the sound of the shower her and Sam were sharing one time, heat of embarrassment washing over you.
Yet, you found yourself envying her position. At that point Colby barely touched you anymore, constantly on his phone. You wished you were in her place, Sam abusing your cervix as you begged for more.
Sam and Kat broke up first. Sam knew it was coming, like the smell of rain settling into the air. It was a messy breakup, the two of them having a very public relationship. You werenât a content creator, and even as Sam tried to dry his puffy eyes, he wished Kat werenât either. It wouldâve made things so much more simplistic if she had been just like you.
Colby was almost entirely absent from your life once Sam and Kat broke up. You found yourself resenting Sam and yearning for his attention more and more as time went on.
His absence resulted in your break up. Thats what Colby would contribute it to, anyways. Youâd debate he lost interest in you. As you packed your suitcases, Sam watching you from a far. He envied the way you maintained a poker face. You werenât a babbling, incoherent mess. Instead, you stood poised and unbothered. Colby was talking to you about items you both possessed. If Sam couldnât hear him, he wouldâve never guessed. Your face sat still and unnerved, as if Colby was discussing the weather.
It was storming when you packed up your car and left. You had never officially moved in, unlike Kat. Another thing Sam envied. You slammed the trunk of your car down, fat raindrops embedding themselves onto your clothes and skin. Sam sat perched beside his window, watching you curiously.
Even in the security of being alone, you hadnât cried a single tear. You felt Samâs gaze on you, your eyes curiously meeting his. You werenât sure why he was watching you, your hair becoming soaking wet from the unrelenting weather. In a simple, yet bold move, you waved. Sam, hesitantly, waved back.
If Sam had known that wouldâve triggered the following events for the next six months, he wouldâve slammed the curtains shut.
You were nervous to text him first, your brain racking itself to figure out a logical reason to reach out to your exâs best friend. After all, you only had his number to previously communicate about Colby. Yet now, you were searching for reasons to see his best friend.
Asking Sam to deliver an old hoodie you didnât want was all it took. Sam was more than happy to deliver it, conveniently forgetting to mention it to Colby. It resulted in a long entanglement neither of you could shake.
Sam never fully recovered from his break up with Kat, just like you never fully recovered from your break up with Colby. Sam wished Kat had been like you, just like you prayed Colby would act more like Sam. You found yourself craving each otherâs attention, satisfying the sick parts of yourself that desired affection. Even if that affection was twisted and wrong.
It made your skin crawl when you thought about how badly it would hurt Colby if he ever found out.
Sam couldnât stand to think about it.
But guilt took a backseat when it came to your infatuation with one another.
It didnât take long for feelings to develop, your mind becoming more occupied of Samâs well being rather than his cock fucking your brains out. Sam came by on random evenings, whenever he wasnât restricted by work. And lucky for you, tonight was one of those nights.
Sam opened your front door, the key to your place having grown well adjusted to his key ring. You were ready to greet him, staring up at him as he walked inside. He closed the door behind him, his hands finding your waist with ease.
âTook you long enough,â You teased, noting his tardiness. Sam rolled his eyes, letting out a small chuckle. âWe found some great evidence, just so you know,â He debated, nuzzling his face closer to yours. You giggled, Sam pressing your back against the closest wall. Neither of you needed to look, this meeting practically routine. âDid you mention to the ghost they were cock blocking you?â You whispered, his lips brushing against yours.
Sam was so close to kissing you, the tension growing thicker with every passing second. âNo, I was too occupied imagining destroying your cunt to think of that,â Sam mumbled. His veiny hands snaked down to your ass, grabbing the flesh harshly. A soft groan escaped your lips, your cheeks flushing red. âYeah? Youâre such an asshole you know. Fantasizing about your best friendâs ex girlfriend right in front of him,â You whispered.
Sam brought his lips harshly to yours, knocking the air out of your lungs. Nothing about his touch was ever gentle, his neediness trumpeting over worry of your wellbeing. A safe word was something developed in the beginning stages of your affair. Sam also knew your body like the back of your hand, he knew what you could handle. Your arms snaked their way around his neck, your lips fighting against his. âIf I had it my way, iâd fuck you right in front of him too,â Sam growled, his lips refusing to stray from yours.
Your hips involuntarily bucked forward, his bulge growing faster by the second. Sam smirked, his hand slithering its way around your body. He cupped your heat, your thin shorts and panties restricting him from complete access to your cunt. âYou like that idea, donât you? Me ruining you better than he ever could,â Sam groaned, pressing against your clothed cunt. You craved more friction, your body craving him. You pulled away from his hungry lips, nuzzling yourself in his neck as he pulled your shorts and panties down in a single swipe.
âIf it were up to me-â You swallowed hard, feeling his index and middle finger run up and down your drenched folds. Your mouth ran dry as a moan escaped you, his fingers teasing your entrance. âIâd have you breed me right in front of him, and maybe have him lick your cum as it drips out of me,â You moaned, gasping as Samâs fingers abruptly shoved their way inside of you.
You always made Sam feel like a horny teenage boy, the way your walls squeezed him. Making him feel like he could cream in his pants at any moment. Samâs spare hand slipped its way up to your throat, squeezing your sweet spots. âYou filthy slut, Iâd kill him if he ever touched you again. This sweet cunt is mine,â He said, curling his fingers inside of you. You gripped his veiny arm as he squeezed your throat, your moans becoming strangled and uncontrolled.
Sam liked having this dominance over you, watching you crumble as your brain slowly shut off. You felt the knot in your stomach tighten, Samâs long fingers abusing your pussy. âSuch a pretty girl. Go ahead and cream on my fingers like the good girl you are,â Sam praised. Your eyes met his, the eye contact only making you squeeze him tighter. Your legs trembled as the familiar wave of ecstasy clouded your senses, Samâs strong hands keeping you from collapsing onto the floor. Your knees had buckled, Samâs hand leaving your throat and your cunt.
You quietly whined at the loss of contact, your walls clenching around nothing. The moment your vision settled, your hands were on his belt. You wanted to taste him, to feel him abuse your throat. Sam stopped you, sliding his hoodie over his head. âNot this time, wanna feel you,â He mumbled, his needy nature shining through his desire to dominate you.
His neediness reminded you why you both started this entanglement to begin with. It wasnât just the attraction, that wasnât enough to cross all moral boundaries. It was the craving for raw affection, the kind that made your heart warm. The kind you day dream about, feeling his skin on yours.
You tossed off your own skimpy pajama top, pushing him towards the couch. His hands briefly abandoned you, your lips working against his as he undressed himself. Sam plopped on the couch, and you quickly followed after him. You straddled his lap, his shaft rubbing up and down against your folds. You groaned at the sensation as his tip brushed against your clit.
âIâm going to fuck you so stupid,â Sam muttered, reaching down to align himself. You lifted yourself on your knees, Samâs gaze landing on your perky breast. He was a tits man more than anything, his attention now occupied. He leaned forward, taking your right breast into his mouth. Sam knew you liked to be overstimulated, his lips harshly sucking at your nipple. You moaned loudly as you sank down onto his cock, his mouth maintaining its place on your nipple.
Your fingers raked through his blonde hair, his cock stretching out your walls as his teeth grazed your nipple. âFuck, Sammy,â You moaned, your head thrown back in euphoria. The affectionate nick name brought something out of him, something that wanted him to make you his. The blonde released your breast with a pop, a visible ring of saliva around your sensitive bud. Sam leaned forward, breaking you into a sweet kiss, briefly causing you to forget how rough he could actually be.
You were soon reminded, his hips bucking upwards. âStay there and look pretty, let me ruin you,â Sam growled. His hands gripped your waist, his fingers digging so deeply into your flesh you were sure he would leave bruises. As sick and twisted as it was, you both got off on the idea of being better than each otherâs exs. Youâd never mention Kat to Sam, but he knew. Sam, however, relished in mentioning Colby to you. How much better he was than him. How much better he could fuck you. He never hesitated to remind you that he made you cum in ways Colby never knew how to.
Your moans were sounds of pure sin, ringing off of your living room walls. You knew your neighbors would be pissed, but keeping quiet was not something Sam enjoyed. Samâs thrust were merciless, his own softer groans flooding your ears. That, and the sound of slapping skin, blinding your senses from the outside world. His cock abused your g spot, your nails digging into his shoulders. âColby could never fuck you like this, could he?â Sam spat, attempting to regain some of your clouded attention.
You swallowed, trying to formulate a proper response.
âN-n-no. Only you Sam,â You panted, his brutal pacing never letting up. Sam smirked as you struggled to think, enjoying watching your brain melt for him. âYouâre so fucked out and weâve barely started,â Sam commented cockily. He would never admit it, but he could cum at any moment. Your body was a drug, the purest form of ecstasy he could have.
And you were all his.
His hips continued to slam into yours, destroying your cunt. âYou feel so good,â You slurred, your nails leaving thin red marks into Samâs pale shoulders. One of his hands abandoned your waist, snaking its way down to your clit. Your back arched as he began to draw slow circles around the bud, the extra stimulation bringing you closer to your peak. âSo do you baby,â Sam grunted in response, his cheeks flushing pink as he fucked you.
As much as Sam loved to fuck you senseless and watch his seed drip out of your abused hole, he dreaded it at the same time. The same three words always threatened to leave his lips when he came, both of your bodies attached to the other. Those three words, would ruin the arrangement. Sam knew this. He knew this as your eyes rolled back in your head, your moans unholy music to his ears. The knot in your stomach was threatening to snap, your legs shaking as Sam held you up. You could tell Sam was coming close as well, his thrust becoming sloppy.
âFuck, youâre such a good girl. My good girl,â Sam emphasized, his hips stuttering. He groaned your name as he came, his warm cum filling up your abused cunt. You whined as his fingers continued to circle quickly around your clit, Samâs attention returning completely on you. He hadnât even finished riding out his high, his hand wrapping itself around your throat.
âCmon whore, be a good slut for me,â Sam grunted. His cock remained inside of you, still at half mass. He bucked his hips slowly, pushing his cum deeper into your pussy. âYou like that donât you? My cum seeping deeper inside of you,â Sam smirked, not failing to notice your walls squeezing him. Sam brought himself closer to your ear, his breath hot against your skin. âYou like the idea that itâs me breeding you, donât you? The idea that Colby would see you pregnant with my child,â Sam purred. You babbled a hardly coherent yes, your orgasm rushing upon you quickly.
âGo on then, be my good girl and cum on my cock,â Sam whispered. His dirty words were all it took, your thighs shaking as you creamed around his cock. You felt so filthy, getting off on Samâs degrading words and relentless assault on your clit. You leaned forward, nuzzling your head against his abused shoulder. You closed your eyes, ignoring the red nail marks you had left on him moments ago.
The sound of both of your deep breathing was all you focused on, Sams long arms wrapping around you. It was also in moments like this, with you fucked out of your mind, that Sam wished he could say those dreaded three words to you. You were so vulnerable like this. So soft and sweet. With his cock growing soft inside of you, and the mixture of both of your guys cum leaking out of you, he wished things were different.
As much as he loved his best friend, he often day dreamed of the perfect world in these moments. One where maybe Colby didnât exist, or Sam had gotten to you first. Sam stroked your back lovingly, taking in all of the affection he would soon be deprived of. Sam heard his phone buzz, the sound louder than it usually was. He could see Colbyâs name light up on the screen.
Colby:
hey man where are you? we gotta edit this new video
Sam bit the inside of his cheek, not wanting to leave you.
Not now, not ever.
But as he watched Colbyâs name pop up on the caller ID, his ringtone reminded him why he could never say those three dreaded words.
Not now, not ever.

How is the relationship like between Litlle Silver and NRC staff?
I think they get along well enough.
He worries about Crowley and Trein a lot. Trein seems to have a lot of worries about the students. But, since he lets Silver pet the cat during class, Trein is considered nice.
Silver gets odd feelings from the bird man at times. He's not sure what to make of it.
He is not a big fan of Vargas, but that's mostly because he isn't athletic and Vargas is nothing but athletic. He also doesn't think Vargas's facial hair is very flattering, but that's a matter of taste.
He likes Sam and Sam's friends. Sam's friends like him too. This is the source of a handful of worries for the dear shopkeeper.
(I'm operating on the non-canonically founded assumption that Sam's friends are similar to the shadow demons in The Princess And The Frog.)
He probably spends the most time with Crewel, mostly for remedial lessons. Silver asked for help after realizing he's missing a lot of what should be common knowledge.
During their time together, Crewel has convinced the boy to actually wear the safety equipment. He's still working on fixing up his normal uniform.

My favourite kind of fan theories are the ones that don't change the plot or the characters in any particular way, but add just a little silver of more context that makes sense from the story perspective, doesn't really contradict any part of the canon, but would still probably make the original creator look at you funny because they had absolutely not thought of it like that.
Consider the hobbits. They are by definition cheery people, who value simple things, creature comforts, and all the things that make life enjoyable and pleasant. The highest goal in life is to simply have a good time. They are, however, also very conventional, tend to stick to tradition and common customs, and are altogether - for the lack of a better word - very conservative people. However, these two things are not mutually exclusive.
As hobbits consider living an enjoyable life to be the highest goal, there is no reason why their social rules or customs would be that keen on restricting ordinary and harmless natural behaviours. Sure, their society is extermely normative and values conformity, but why would a people who put so much value on simply living a nice, simple life and minding their own business even have traditional values that are needlessly, unpleasantly restrictive?
For all we know, maybe hobbit society's conventional ideas of love and romance function by some sort of homestuck troll love quadrant logic, and they don't consider it anything abnormal to have several overlapping relationships that are distinct from each other in nature. Both Sam and Frodo considered it beyond obvious that Sam would eventually go back to the Shire to marry Rosie and have 13 children with her. Sam - a very traditional hobbit - never contemplated having to choose between the two, or having to apologise to one about the existence of the other.
Maybe a gentlehobbit having A Thing with his gardener is barely even something interesting enough to gossip about, but it's remarkable that just this once Frodo Bagging seems to be doing something normal.
