Rumination
Ruminate
(v.) To think about something deeply
After Edward left her, Bella Swan fell apart. Desperate to try and save his eldest daughter, Charlie brings his youngest daughter to Forks to see if she can bring her sister out of her depression.
Now, y/n must try to help her sister find her way back to the light while also trying to navigate her Junior year of high school in the odd town of Forks.
Chapter Seven: Confrontation
---
Now playing: Monsters by Hurricane Bells
Warnings: mentions of heart attacks resulting in death (Harry Clearwater), mentions of suicide (Bella jumping off the cliff at La Push), cursing, mentions of funerals, Edward is introduced (his dramatic ass is a warning in and of itself I’m afraid)
Everyone keeps trying to force Paul and I into the same space. It’s driving me mad.
I don’t want to talk to him until he apologizes, and he’s been stubbornly silent on that front. All I want is an apology for his actions, and all’s forgiven. Mostly.
It makes me snappish and irritable whenever anyone tries to force proximity between the two of us. It has a similar effect on Paul, who’s taken to staying out of the house.
Sam and Jacob keep giving Paul meaningful, pointed little looks that I don’t understand. Even Bella’s been roped into their bullshit, dragging me along with her to Emily’s when she knows Paul is there.
Victoria’s still being hunted by the pack, so it’s not like I could just stay home. As much as I’m starting to resent it, I’m safer at the Rez.
---
“Why haven’t you been hanging out with me recently?” Max demands, sitting down beside me in Physics. I sigh.
“Max, I’ve been busy—”
“With work? Chelsea said you quit.” I didn’t like how accusatory he sounded, and my already touchy nerves bristled.
“I have shit to do outside of school Max,” I tell him, my voice harsher than I intended, “Sorry if I have t been able to make room in my schedule for everything for the last week.”
“Don’t act like that,” he hissed, “You’ve been ditching me to go to the are with your other friends and—”
The bell rings, cutting him off. He gives me a long look before muttering, “We’ll talk about this later.”
I sigh forcefully, knowing that this day was just going to go to shit.
---
I was right.
The day did go to shit. I failed my math test, US History assigned a shit ton of homework due by the end of the week, and Max wouldn’t leave me alone about my six day absence in his life.
He managed to corner me before I could escape to my truck, pulling me aside by the side of the school.
I sighed, “Max, I really don’t have time for this today—”
“You don’t have time for me ever, anymore.” He challenged, interrupting me. I stared at him flatly and he scoffed, “Don’t give me that look, you know I’m right. You’ve been running off with those freaks from the reservation, the ones in the gang!”
I made a face before I could stop myself, “They aren’t in a gang, you moron,” I told him, “And they aren’t freaks, either.”
He scoffed, “Whatever, Y/n. You know, after you dropped that freak, Paul, or whoever, I thought we had something going, you know? But now you’re running back to him like a—”
He cut himself off, and I quickly demanded, “Like a what, Max?”
He just shook his head, “Run back to your freak show already, they’re waiting for you.”
He turned and left, and I stomped towards my truck. Bella and Jacob were already waiting for me, and Jared was sitting in the bed of the truck as he peered over at me.
“What was that about?” Bella asked, getting into the passenger’s seat as Jacob hopped into the back with Jared.
“Nothing.” I hissed, slamming the door shut and peeling out of the parking lot.
---
We all got to Emily’s and Bella was quick to shower and change.
I sat with Emily as she made stew, telling her about my day. Dinner was ready at seven thirty sharp, and everyone rallied around the table as Bella helped me plate all the food.
Quill, Embry, and Paul walked in just as I put rolls onto their plates. The three of them washed up quickly, and Paul sniffed.
“Trouble in paradise, Y/n?” He taunted, “Doesn’t smell like that horrendous cologne rubbed off on you today.”
Fed up with bullshit for the day, I slammed his plate in front of him and grabbed my own, marching back to the room Bella and I had taken over to eat by myself.
“You’re so full of shit, Paul,” Jacob hissed at him, but I slammed the door before I heard anything else.
Tears welled up in my eyes, but I refused to cry. In a house full of werewolves, they would all hear it, and I refused to give Paul the satisfaction.
After a minute, Bella came into the room and sat beside me on the floor. She ate her food without speaking, sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with me as tears streamed silently down my face.
“Do you want to go back to Charlie’s?” She asked, and I took a deep breath.
“No,” I said, “It’s fine.”
She was quiet for a moment more, “You and I will skip school tomorrow, go on a hike. Get some fresh air.”
I nodded, finishing my food.
---
The next day, Bella and I went out for a hike early. We left at six in the morning, driving to the La Push trails.
We went together for a while, eating lunch at a scenic outlook. She went on towards the cliffs at the beach, but I stayed behind.
I sat hugging my knees as I thought.
Paul was an asshole. I wanted to hit him. Max was a dick. It was only partially justified.
Sam made me want to bash my head in. He needs to stop trying to shove Paul and I into making up. I’m about to tell Emily that if he keeps doing it, I’m staying at Charlie’s exclusively.
No, that would probably only make him force Paul to babysit my house.
I don’t know how long I sat there, but I eventually got back up and started to make my way back to Bella. A lot formed in my chest, and I hurried back over there. Before I knew it, I was running towards her, breaking the tree line and seeing her standing on the cliff before me, looking at the waves.
I was about to call out to her when she jumped, letting herself fall towards the waves.
A scream ripped from my throat as I shoved my backpack and jacket off, running out of my shoes as I dove after her.
I watched her hit the water as I began to plummet, and I prayed that I could catch her and that she wasn’t trying to kill herself by drowning or blunt-force trauma from the surface of the water.
When I hit the water, the temperature made me gasp. I choked out the water before diving to try and find my sister. I held my breath as long as I could before I had to resurface, diving back under as soon as air entered my lungs.
I kicked against the current and my hand snagged on something. I looked over and saw Bella, her eyes closed as she laid motionless in the water. I grabbed her under the arms and hauled her back to the surface, swimming as fast as I could towards the shore.
It was the adrenaline, I was sure, that let me get to the sand. If I wasn’t to worried about my sister dying, I probably would have drowned myself.
I dragged her onto the sandy beach, watching as Jacob came sprinting over. I was shaking, her hand clutched in mine, as I watched him get her to breathe again.
Fat tears rolled down my cheeks as I sobbed, cold and distressed. Jacob picked Bella up and hands pulled me towards a chest. With the adrenaline fading, and the cold getting to me, I was too tired to see who had picked me up and just let it happen.
---
I woke back up before Bella did. My eyes opened, and I saw her face in front of mine. Her eyes were closed, but she was breathing.
I exhaled, relief flooding my system.
“You’re awake,” Emily said, her beautiful face coming into my line of sight.
“Yeah,” I croaked, sitting up.
She looked like she had been crying.
“What happened?” I asked, knowing she wouldn’t have wasted tears on Bella and I when we had survived.
She looked at me for a moment before speaking quietly, “Harry Clearwater had a heart attack. They’re arranging his funeral now.”
I lurched forward to hug her tightly, “Emily, I’m so sorry, oh my god.”
She sniffed, “Everyone’s over there to comfort Sue and their kids. Your dad, too.”
The two of us sat there for a long while before we both laid down in the bed. Emily fell asleep quickly, exhausted from crying. I just stared at the ceiling.
---
Jacob took us back to Charlie’s house when he heard we were awake. We got there, however, and he froze.
“There’s a vampire in there—” he started, but Bella shoved past him. I followed, assuming that it was Edward.
I grabbed a cast iron pan from the stove and yelled, “Edward, you sickly dickhead! Come here so I can beat your ass!”
I stormed into the living room and swung in instinct when I saw the shape of someone who wasn’t my sister or Jacob. The small woman dodged it easily, looking at me grimly.
She opened her mouth, but spotted Bella and launched herself at her for a hug.
“Wait! Wait!” Bella yelled at Jacob and I, “It’s Alice! This is Alice!”
I watched her warily, the pan still clutched tight in my fists. My sister cried as she hugged the woman, Alice.
“Oh, Bella, how are you alive?” She asked, “I saw you jump, I saw your sister jump after you, but—”
She took a breath and continued, “I saw you go into the water and I waited and waited for you to come up, but you didn't. What happened? And how could you do that to Charlie? Did you stop to think what this would do to him? And my brother? Do you have any idea what Edward–” She cut herself off, looking to me.
“Why did she jump, Y/n?” She asked, and she said my name with such familiarity that it was unnerving.
“For fun, she said.” I informed her, “She wasn’t trying to kill herself.”
“Why did I not see you pull her out, then?” Alice pondered, “I saw you coming to Forks, I saw you hiking, I saw you jump after her, but I couldn’t see anything after you got within a yard of the beach.”
“Jacob and Paul pulled us out of the water from there. Jake got Bella breathing again, and they took us to the reservation.” I told her, watching as her face went slack with understanding.
She pinned Jacob with a stare, “I thought she drowned,” She said slowly, “Because I can’t see past you and your pack of mutts—”
“Watch it, Alice,” I warned, “Him and his pack of wolves are the reason Bella and I are still alive, and Jacob’s the reason Bella’s even a functioning person today.”
She sniffed, conceding, “I suppose.”
Bella and Alice caught up with each other in her room. Jacob and I sat with Charlie at the dining room table.
He told us stories of Harry Clearwater, seeming dazed that he was dead. He kept flipping between past and present tense when talking about him.
Charlie went off to bed a while after.
The phone rang, and Jacob picked it up. Carlisle was calling, asking for Charlie.
“Now’s not a good time,” Jacob said, “Charlie just got back from arranging a funeral—”
The line went dead.
Not a second later, Bella and Alice flew down the stairs and lunged for the phone, only to hear the dial tone.
“What did you do?” Bella demanded, and I whipped my head to look at her critically.
“Jacob didn’t do shit, Carlisle asked for Charlie and Jake told him that he had come back from arranging a funeral—”
“That wasn’t Carlisle,” Alice said quietly, staring into the distance, “Edward thinks Bella’s dead. He’s going to the Volturi to—”
“Hold on, the who?” I demanded, but was ignored by both my sister and her guest. I looked to Jacob, and he mouthed, “Vampire Police?”
“I have to go save him—!” Bella said, trying to walk past me.
“Wait a damn minute, Bella,” I said, stopping her, “Save who? That sickly piece of shit who left you when things got hard?”
“Edward’s going to get himself killed!” She shrieked, and I scoffed.
“He nearly killed you, and you’re rushing to his rescue because he’s jumping to conclusions instead of asking for confirmation?” I demanded, and Bella pursed her lips.
“You would do it for Paul,” she told me, “No matter how angry you were or what he did, you would still go save him if he was trying to kill himself. Just like you did for me today.”
I was silent for a long moment.
“I’ll tell Charlie where you went,” I said finally, “But I won’t stop you. You’re eighteen now, anyway.”
She smiled, hugging me tightly before rushing off towards Alice’s car. Jacob chased after her, and I went upstairs to shower.
---
Am I team Edward? Am I team Jacob? The answer is, for cannon, neither. I was originally soooo team Edward when I watched/read the first movie/book, but during New Moon I loved the werewolves (still do obvi) and I did love Jacob so much until Meyer completely nerfed his and Quil’s characters by making them imprint on CHILDREN
Fanfiction’s free game though, I’ll eat it up no matter who it’s about.
Anyway, hope yall enjoyed!! Lmk what you guys think and if yall want to see anything specific/have a request for anything, let me know!! I’m open to writing for whoever and about almost anything ☺️
Bye bye for now (I’ll post again tmr)

A Man On Fire - Chapter 85
Morning came all too soon, neither had slept a wink, their frantic lovemaking lasted until an hour ago, both of them not wanting their time together to end, “I don’t want to let you go” he pushed a tired kiss on the top of her head “it feels like we’re at crossroads again, I’ve only just found you again” his warm breath whispering against her head sent chills down her spine, I don’t want you to leave and I don’t want to leave this bed, I don’t want to leave you. Just jump on that plane to Australia with him and forget about your family, but he actually sealed her fate “but I understand you need to sort this out with your family and you know what they say ‘longing makes the heart grow fonder’ even though I don’t know if that is even possible” his lips curled into a sad smile, he so didn’t want to get up but her plane was leaving in a few hours. “Join me in the shower?” he growled letting go of her and sat up to push himself off the bed, why did he suddenly feel like he was 100 years old? Easy, because she kept him young. “Why don’t you go get a hot shower started, I’ll be right there” she pushed a kiss on his shoulders and grabbed her phone, 10 missed calls, all from Arno..hopefully they changed their mind, I don’t want to go..but I have to..get this sorted, the sooner I can leave this behind me, the sooner I can be with Jared again. Their bodies connected once again under the hot water with every last bit of passion they had in them, both of them not knowing when the next time would be, the only thing they knew was that it was gonna take a while and neither of them was one bit happy about that.//One last kiss and one final bear hug leaving her perfume to still dance in his nose and the firm promise to call him when she had landed, before the big steel bird had taken her away from him, he had never seen her so nervous and desperate, how would he even get through the days without her when he couldn’t even get through hours? His own phone bleeped him out of his train of thought, duty called, but he couldn’t care less. The only name on his mind was hers.
New York was cold and dreary, getting into the waiting cab, a whiff of his perfume drifted up to her, god I miss you Jared, why did I ever think this would be a good idea?

Hello lover,
I miss you, more than I could ever say, this all seems so pointless without you. What am I even doing here?
Yours forever (if you let me)
Harper
Jared was finishing up packing his last bag when he felt the faint buzz of an e-mail, please let this be her..yes it was, his fingers stumbled over the screen
From: BJLCubbins
To: HCDeRobiano
Subject: Re:back in the concrete jungle
Hello sweetie,
So glad you made it safe back to the Big Apple, you’re there so you can get things resolved and leave this all behind as quickly as possible, so we can finally leave all this behind us.
I haven’t even left and the thought of being on that long flight to the other side of the world without you is unbearable, but let’s hold on to the idea that in a few days, you and I will be together again, doing what we do best, (we’ve been doing it all night, so I’m sure you’ve not forgotten about that)
Let me know how it went asap?
You’re on my mind always! I love and miss you too!
Your lover par excellence
J.
She got out of the cab and stopped in her tracks to read his e-mail, clutching the phone to her heart, she took a deep breath looking up at the hospital in front of her, here went absolutely nothing.
”Everything is loaded up, we can go now if you’re ready” the guy who came to pick him up said, “yeah, I’m ready” he closed the door behind him, all day he had been waiting for a call, a mail, anything, but nothing, every one of his calls had rolled to voicemail and it sure didn’t put his mind at ease, this was not like her, she always kept her promises and she had looked so desperate this morning. “We really need to go now” the driver’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts, “yeah yeah, I know” he walked to the car, not able to keep his eyes off his phone when he shuffled into the backseat. For fuck’s sakes, why don’t you pickup?? It’s not switched off or has a flat battery, I’m sick of all this calling, hasn’t it come to your mind that I’m starting to get worries and I’m just about to board a plane? All annoyed he ended another attempt to call her. “Jay, come on” Shannon gestured at him to hurry up, he was trying to delay getting on that plane, “yeah, yeah one more call” he waved at him to get onto the plane already, Arno, great idea, he was gonna call Arno, 2 minutes later he was ready to throw his phone on the tarmac, why did everyone have phones when they just ignored every call or mail or text??? “Jared?” now it was Shayla’s voice who urged him to hurry up. “Alright, alright” he rolled his eyes and accepted his fate of being locked up in a massive plane high up there for almost an entire day without any news from her, maybe she would send him a mail, at least something to look forward to.
”Ciao Papa” she stuttered as she walked inside the room and saw her father sitting up in his bed, he looked like a new man, nothing like when she last saw him here attached to all sorts of tubes, was he alone here? Suddenly she was roughed pushed inside the room from behind, causing her to stumble forward while her mother pushed past her without a word or even a glance. “Come stai, Papa? You look so much better” just ignore all the aggressive stares, break the ice, Harper, just suck it up. “Harper Coco” hearing her father say her full name sent a shiver down her spine and not in a good way, he had always used her full name before he went in predator modus when she was a child. Coming here had obviously been a mistake, and where was Arno?, she really didn’t want to beat about the bush, she had Jared to go back to, would he be getting ready now for Australia? “do I look better? Well I certainly don’t feel much better, knowing it was you who put me here in the first place, but I guess you always had your heart on hurting your mother and me, didn’t you?” his voice was ice and so were his eyes that drilled into hers.
“Will anything I say even matter? In my experience it has always been the other way round when you two knocked me around the house almost every day..” she spat back and he didn’t even flinch “Anyway, Arno said you wanted to talk to me? I’m here now, so talk”. It was her father’s almost devilish grin that shook her to the core “Arno just did what we asked him to do..” he paused for effect “Let’s be honest here, you tried to kill us, Harper, plain and simple, and that ‘s not just an opinion, no, myself and the entire family are convinced that these..vile pieces of…” he hesitated, intense disgust scribbled over his face “mockery that you waisted paint on were an attempt to humiliate, even desecrating the importance and standing of one of the most ancient and most powerful aristocratic names of Italy that is the House of De Robiano d’Arcy”. Before she could even form a word, his voice thundered over her “ever since you were a child, you were demonic, always bullying, hurting your siblings, your parents..and now you thought you would serve the final blow and almost had me killed”. What??? What the fuck was he saying? “WHAT?? Are you fucking kidding me? I’m the bully??? I tried to kill you??? YOU!...YOU were the one who singled me out of all your children and beat me, kicked me until I was black and blue and had to be rushed to the hospital..what????” big tears of frustration and helplessness against this vicious and slanderous attack started to roll down her face while he single-handedly erased and re-wrote the pages of her haunted childhood and youth that had been packed with physical abuse.
”Your outburst is another fine example of your psychopathic nature, you need professional help, girl..it just goes to show that your mother and I were right to cut you off of your financial support and to take away your title..you were never one of us and neither did you ever want to be, and if an attempted murder is your way of paying us back for everything we have done for you emotionally and financially, then I see no other way of disowning you completely”. A door opened behind her and a few sharp dressed men walked in “Miss Harper Coco De Robiano d’Arcy? As attorney of Mr. and Mrs. De Robiano d’Arcy, I hereby request to sign this document that will officially take away the aristocratic title that your name provides, neither shall you receive any financial support by requesters present here, subsequently you will also be written out of the requesters testament and will, neither will you be able to contest this decision. Should you seek contact with any member of the family mentioned hereabove, for any reason, a summon to court will follow” He put the document on the table and pointed out where she needed to sign, completely overwhelmed  and distraught by this ordeal, she put the pen to paper and scribbled her name, soon as she put down the pen again, he handed her a copy of the document. “This is your copy, and this..” another document was handed over to her “is a summons to court for abuse and neglect. I must emphasise that this summons will be under scrutiny of the court and should any info show up in the media or elsewhere, you will be charged with intentional disclosure”.

Paul Lahote Part One
trigger warnings: ??? Nothing yet but not promises that will keep in later parts
words: 1543
It’s in those moments of deep desperation that you find hope. Or it seems to find you. When I left home to live with my uncle, miles away from my home, desperation was the only thing on my mind. Desperately running away, I didn’t want to face that part of my life that I already felt as though I was behind. I wanted to start fresh. I still do, so why does the reason I came here matter? My uncle, Charlie, agreed that he wouldn’t tell a soul about the events that lead me to his home, not even his own daughter. Who never really dropped the subject of course, but knew it wasn’t any of her business. I wasn’t naive enough to actually believe that I wouldn’t have to face problems here, but I think that’s what drew me here. Different problems, and that’s what I got.
When I first moved here my cousin, Bella, had a boyfriend who she spent most of her time with. She still introduced me to everyone and showed me around, but when he moved things shifted. Bella completely shut down, she was always quiet and reserved, but this was different. She was numb. It took her a really long time to talk to anyone, and when she did, it was only me, Charlie, and her friend Jacob. They were always working on these two motorcycles together, sometimes I would join them. Jacob was nice, clearly had a massive crush on Bella even though she always denied it.
One day when I tagged along I met Quil and Embry, they also seemed nice but I didn’t talk to them much. I didn’t talk to anyone that lived on the reservation actually, not until I had to stop Bella from doing something stupid. Feels like I’ve been doing that a lot lately.
She was pissed. I’ve never seen her this angry before. I was a little scared to get in the car with her, but the fear of what she was going to do with this anger overpowered me. I stayed in the car when she stormed into Jacob’s house, but practically leaped out as I saw her approaching “Sam’s cult”. I was too far behind her and couldn’t reach her until she had already slapped one of the boys. “ALRIGHT” I yelled at Bella, getting in between them and seeing the boy start to shake in anger. “What you’re NOT gonna do is pick a fight with Mr. Mc steroids over here.” I continued while looking the boy up and down. We made eye contact. I didn’t want to but I froze and felt something turn in my gut while he immediately stopped shaking. I quickly shook it off and turned back to my crazy cousin. “Lets leave. Get in the fucking car John Cena”, pointing to her truck. I heard a bit of laughter as we walked away, but didn’t turn around. I didn’t even dare look in the rear view mirror as I drove off.
After Bella calmed down she admitted that slapping a 7 foot Greek sculpture wasn’t the smartest move. “They did something to him, I know it. Jacob’s too scared to tell me what’s going on but I’m gonna figure it out.” Bella said with gritted teeth. “Listen, you know Jacob better than I do so it’s your call, but maybe consider the idea that it’s none of your business? You and him have been friends since preschool. I feel like if it was necessary for you to know, he would have told you”. By the time I finished my speech Bella had already shut down. Just like she was before. Broke my heart seeing her like this. Maybe I should talk to Jacob or the “cult”, just be civil about it.
So that’s what I did. The next day I drove to Jacob’s house, but Billy said he wasn’t home and to try Sam’s place. Well, he said Jacob wasn’t home and I begged him to tell me where he might be. For some reason he caved and told me where to find him and not Bella. I tried not to think about it too much or let my anxiety get the best of me while driving.
When I knocked on the door, I didn’t expect a small, sweet woman with a huge scar across her face to answer the door. “Hi, can I help you?”
“Yes, I was looking for Jacob?”
“Are you Bella?”
“No, I’m Y/N, Bella’s cousin.”
“Oh. OH!” She seemed really surprised to find out this information. “Jacob it out with Paul right now. Working. They will be back soon though if you would like to come in, the rest of the crowd is here. I’m Emily, Sam’s fiance.”
“Oh I can come back another time, I don’t want to intrude.”
“Don’t be silly, we are all friendly and we are dying to get to know you.”
What does that mean? I walked in and saw everyone I saw yesterday but Jacob and the boy Bella slapped. Paul. “Hey Embry, how have you been?” I asked, seeming he was the only person I recognized. “Good, You?”
“I’m ok, just worried about Bella. Wanted to give Jacob a bit of grief for leaving her high and dry. She’s taking it a bit hard, but I also wanted to apologize for how she acted yesterday. Slapping who I assume is Paul wasn’t cool at all. I’m sure she feels really awful about it.”
“It’s not Jacob’s fault for leaving Bella. You don’t have to apologize for Bella, I think we have all wanted to slap Paul at some point in time.” Sam said.
“Got it, but is there anything I can do to get Jacob to talk to Bella again?”
“Jump in line, we all want him to talk about it so we don’t have to hear him monologuing all the time about it.” Embry said, before the third and last boy elbowed him really hard.
“So none of this is your doing?” I asked all the boys.
“Not exactly, no.” Said Sam.
“Ok. That’s some clarity at least.” I said with a smile.
“Why don’t you sit down, muffin, before the beasts attack them?” Emily offered a bowl full of muffins the size of Ohio to me.
“Thank you, that’s really sweet of you.” I said while taking a muffin and sitting next to Embry. Emily was right that the boys would attack the food, holy shit. “So why don’t you tell us about yourself?” Emily said, seeming excited and sitting across from me. “What do you want to know? I’m pretty much an open book.”
“What brings you to Forks?” The ONE question I hate.
“Running away from my problems, if i’m being honest. I’ve always loved the rain, needed a change, and my uncle, Charlie, offered me a room. So I took it.”
“I like that, where are you from?”
“Austin.”
“Texas?” said the only boy who I didn’t know.
“No, actually it’s a small secret base on Mars. I’m an alien.” This made everyone laugh, especially the strange boy. “Sorry, I never caught your name?”
“Jared, you always that sarcastic?”
“Yes, humor is my only likable personality trait.”
“I hear that” said Jared while raising his muffin. “What do you like to do for fun?”
“I write, read, and love watching movies and TV shows. I'm a big music lover but I think that’s just a side effect of being born and raised in Austin. Since moving here I’ve really taken up hiking though, it’s so beautiful here. Not just flat desert like in Texas.”
“The only TV show I watch is New Girl, nobody here seems to watch it.” Said Jared and before I even thought it through my favorite Schmit quote fell out of my mouth.
“You would have been my nightmare. We were on very strict instructions from Rabbi Schmolli not to say anything until the very last christian kid found out about Santa Claus. Ruining Christmas? Very bad for our brand.”
Everyone seemed to like me after that and conversation flowed freely. I really liked spending time with everyone and lost track of time until I saw that the sun was going down. “Oh shit, I gotta get going, I’m not used to driving on ice yet and don’t want to drive on these roads when it's dark. Thank you so much for being so nice to me Emily, it was really nice talking to everyone.”
“Oh but Paul isn’t back yet” Emily said quickly. “And Jacob.”
“I can give Jacob shit anytime and I’m sure Paul isn’t my biggest fan after what Bella did so I think it’s a good idea to head out now. Thanks again though.” I said and started making my way to the door.
“Of course! No problem, please come by again. I liked talking to you too and I’d love you to properly meet Paul.”
We walked out just as Jacob and Paul emerged from the trees, but as soon as Paul made eye contact with me, that same flip happened in my gut again before he took off running back into the woods. Guess that answers my question on if he’s mad at me.

The Fight
Requested
Anonymous said: Could you do an imagine where Sam and the reader have like a really big fight or something like that but it ends in pure fluff?? Please! I just need more Sam content! ❤ thnx
Tumblr media
“I can’t even look at you right now!” You shout across the room. Sam’s face is pink with anger, he’s shaking, with a small growl starting in his chest.
“Sam just go away!” You run up the stairs, slamming the bedroom door behind you and fling yourself on the bed, tears streaming down your face, your breathing heavy as you sob into the pillows.
You hear a door slam downstairs, then the definite sound of Sam’s wolf growling as he runs towards the tree line. You would recognise that sound anywhere, although normally it would be waiting for him to come home after patrol. This time, you weren’t sure if he would come home, but right now you didn’t care.
Wrapping yourself in a blanket, you curl up on your side of the bed, fully dressed. Suddenly feeling tired from the fight, eventually you allow the exhaustion to kick in as you fall straight asleep.

“You’ve got to come see him Y/N he looks a mess” Paul pleads through the door.
“Nope! He can come to me, I’m not apologising.” You respond, looking at yourself in the mirror, bags under your eyes, skin looking flat and lifeless. Being away from Sam was definitely having an effect, but you weren’t going to admit to Paul that you couldn’t sleep without Sam, that you were struggling to eat, or have any kind of fun.
“That’s the problem Y/N. He just won’t get up. He’s not sleeping, not eating. I don’t even know how long it’s been since he cracked a smile. Pleaaaase!” Paul pleads again.
“I’m not coming Paul. I need time.” You say softly.
“Ok. Just let us know if we can do anything to help you two. We need our pack leader back. Urgently.”
You hear his steps away from the house and the door slam to his truck. You sigh deeply, trudging back upstairs to throw yourself on the bed again.
Tumblr media
The following week
After being sent home Monday morning for exploding at a customer, you realised you needed to get your life back on track. You needed to shower. Properly. You needed to eat. Properly. But to do all of that you needed one thing.
You needed Sam.
Grabbing your phone, you type a message out to Paul.
- Is Sam at yours?
- Yup. On the sofa. Not moved all day.
- I'll be over in 30 minutes.
- YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
You smile at Paul's reaction. As much as you wanted Sam to be the one to come to you, the imprint link had left you both sad and exhausted, and you couldn't continue the fight any longer. You needed him. You knew from the fights you'd seen from Kim and Jared that the pack felt everything far deeper than their imprints. You didn't want to punish him any longer.
Jumping in the shower you start mentally preparing your speech for when you see Sam. I don't want to feel second best to the pack. I understand what the pack means to you but I need to feel important too.
You grab whatever bits of make up you can find and make your best attempt to cover up the bags which have formed under your eyes. Pulling on a pair of jeans and a loose fitting top, you brush through your hair and take a final look in the mirror. It'll do.
Tumblr media
Before you even get to knock on Paul's front door, it swings open to show Paul and Jared, both looking tired but excited to see you.
"Y/N!" Jared shouts, running towards you to give you a hug. He pulls back and keeps a hand on either arm, looking you in the eyes. "Please don't feel pressured if this isn't what you want yet. I know Paul kept ringing...and Sam is in a pretty bad way. But we want you to be happy too."
You smile sadly at him. "I need this too Jared, don't worry. I'm doing this for me."
Paul gives you a thumbs up from behind Jared before coming to hug you himself. He leaves an army draped around your shoulders as you both walk up the steps.
"He's still on the sofa...we will leave you two alone. We're going out on a quick patrol!" With that he drops a quick kiss on your cheek and jogs towards the treeline with Jared in tow.
You look up at the house and take a deep breath, pulling open the door and stepping inside the house.
Tumblr media
What hits you first is the smell. Sam’s smell. A smell that’s been a comfort to you every night since you met. A smell that you have desperately missed, but has immediately put your mind at ease now it has filled your senses again.
Walking through the house towards the back room, you walk hesitantly towards the sound of the TV. As you reach the doorway, he stands up from the sofa and turns to look at you. His face is etched with sadness, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes, dark bags underneath them from lack of sleep, hair messy and dishevelled. “Y/N...” he whispers, his eyes wide with shock, hands desperate to reach out to you but hesitant in case it makes you leave.
You smile at the sound of his voice. “I’ve missed you baby.”
The corners of his mouth twitch at the word baby, and he rushes towards you, wrapping you up in his arms. He breathes in the scent of your hair, his arms wandering your body before they make their way to your face, delicately cupping your cheeks before hesitating again. He looks deeply into your eyes, searching for approval, searching for confirmation that things will be ok.
You step back. His hopeful expression looks deflated, then confused as you take his hand and lead him back to the sofa. “We need to talk first.” He nods in understanding.
You both sit down, side by side, and you take his hand back in yours, stroking it softly with your fingers. He looks up at you with sad eyes, desperately trying to read your expression.
“I know how important the pack is, not just to you but to the reservation. I understand the importance. But I need to feel important to you too. My life is overwhelmed with the pack, with this life, and I just feel like I’m a passenger just going along for the ride. I feel like I have no control. Like I have no purpose. I’m just “Sam’s imprint”...is that all I am?” Feeling confident in your rehearsed lines you look at Sam, who’s eyebrows are burrowed as he stares at the ground.
“You know you are so much more than that Y/N.” He says quietly.
“I don’t though Sam. You never tell me. You never talk about things. I only know because of the imprint bond.” You move away from him slightly, letting go of his hands, frustration evident in your voice.
“You...” he starts, then looks at the ground again
“I don’t know how much more I can take if you can’t tell me what you are feeling Sam. Please.” You beg, as you reach out to him again.
He takes your hand in his and turns to face you, looking down into your eyes. His expression is warm, immediately comforting, and you have to force yourself to not be sucked back in to his loving embrace.
“You. Are the love of my life. No one else’s love will ever come close to what I feel for you. But that scares me. It scares me because I never feel good enough, I never feel like I can live up to be the man that you deserve. The only thing I can do is to keep you safe. And to keep you safe I need to make my pack strong, I need them to be impossible to defeat. I’m so so sorry that in my eagerness to make the pack strong that you felt unimportant. But I’m making the pack what it is because you are so important, the most important person in the whole world. I love you Y/N and I promise to never let you feel second best ever again...if you will have me that is.” He takes a deep breath, his confidence wavering because you haven’t spoken.
“Y/N...?”
A tear slips from the corner of your eye before you reach over and wrap your arms around his neck, taking him by surprise so he falls backwards onto the couch.
You don’t know how long you stay like that, with his arms wrapped around you, lips pressed to the top of your head as your face is buried into his neck, taking in the comfort of his scent.
It’s only when you hear an awkward cough that you realise anyone is there.
“Take it the two of you have made up?” Paul jokes, as Sam growls at him for interrupting.
You smile up at him, placing your hand on his chest to calm him.
“It’s ok, I’m not going anywhere.” He returns your smile before pressing a kiss to your lips whilst Paul and Jared make gagging noises in the background.
“Ugh it’s like mum and dad kissing!” Jared complains.
“No one asked you to stand there. Go back on patrol, the two of you are pulling a double for interrupting.” Sam orders, and they quickly comply, complaining as they leave the room.
He turns his attention back to you, stroking your cheek with his thumb whilst looking deeply into your eyes.
“I love you Sam.”
“I love you too Y/N.”

Nanny No More
Tumblr media
Summary: Reader is The Ackles' nanny. She comes home to quite the surprise. It changes everything.
Characters: Jensen x Nanny!Reader
Warnings: Fluff, Smut
Word Count: 1,816
A/N: Written for @jerkbitchidjitassbutt. Thanks for the inspiration! GIF above is closest I could find to match the story, though it's not a shower really. 😉 And just in case - this is a work of fiction. No harm or hate intended towards any persons.
Tumblr media
Y/N had just returned from dropping the kids off at a sleepover. She was their live-in nanny and had been for years since Jensen's wife had passed giving birth. Jensen was home on hiatus and his restlessness was driving everyone up the walls.
Her attention was drawn to the other room as she heard Jensen muttering and grunting. She curiously moved forward, worried for what she might find, only to be stopped dead in her tracks.
For one thing, there was a terrible leak in the ceiling. A pipe must have burst. But that wasn't what caught and held her attention.
Jensen was stood on a footstool, arms stretched above him as he was attempting to repair the leak. His t-shirt rode up, exposing a bit of his stomach and buckled jeans. His t-shirt clung to him like a second skin, the water leaking from the pipe having gradually soaked through his clothing.
He lowered his arms, grunting in frustration. He quickly removed the soaked t-shirt, using it to wipe off his face, before tossing it aside and getting back to work.
Y/N's jaw dropped open as she watched the muscles in his arms and back flexing and glistening. She reflexively squeezed her thighs together, feeling a sudden, overwhelming swell of desire.
She'd always found him attractive. She'd be blind not to. But even though she had lived with him for so long, it was like a respectful roommate sort of situation. She was the nanny after all.
Seeing him like this…well, this was new.
Suddenly, bits of the ceiling fell down upon Jensen as the hole opened wider, more water spilling forth in a gush. Jensen was drenched head-to-toe. He managed to reach up and find the shut off, stopping the flood of water, albeit a bit late.
He looked like he just got out of the shower, jeans and all. He was literally dripping with water, strands of his hair hanging down into his face. He huffed before finally noticing Y/N standing there.
"Oh, hey," he smiled, that charming and bright smile that was now making her flutter, "Sorry about the mess," he laughed, gesturing around himself.
She still couldn't move, couldn't speak. Her eyes were trailing over every inch of him as she bit her lip, squeezing her thighs once more, tighter than before.
Jensen's eyes shot over her movements, catching her wandering gaze, her bitten lips, and the not-so-subtle neediness she was emanating. He wasn't a fool. He knew exactly what she was thinking.
He'd been thinking about this very thing for a while now. Jared had encouraged him. But Y/N was a good friend and the nanny and she never showed an interest in all the time she had been with them.
He wasn't about to let this opportunity slip.
He took several slow steps towards her, his eyes trained on hers, "See something you like?" he teased. Her breath hitched. The tension between them filled the room. She wanted to jump his bones right then and there. When he licked that plump bottom lip of his into his mouth she just about sprung on him.
Then she remembered why she hadn't let herself do anything before. She was the nanny. If things went wrong...she loved the kids and didn't want to see them hurt or confused. In the end, she chickened out.
"Y-you should probably go shower," she cleared her throat, breaking the gaze between them and gesturing with her thumb over her shoulder as she took slow retreating steps, "I'll go call a plumber."
She turned and dashed so quick. Jensen was cursing himself under his breath. He knew she wanted him. There was no question about that now. But something was holding her back.
He took himself upstairs to shower. He stripped out of the remaining wet clothes and dropped them in a heap to the floor with a squelch. The hot water soothed his aching muscles and washed away the grime.
It wasn't long before his mind wandered back to Y/N downstairs, staring at him hungrily, clenching her thighs. Gen had told him to ask her out on a date, Jared said just go for it. But her body and reaction was making it hard to think straight.
His hand wandered down his body, wrapping around his fully erect cock. He sighed a little in relief at the pressure, before he began stroking himself. This had become routine at this point, jerking off in the shower with Y/N's image in his mind and her name on his lips.
After he came, he quickly finished his shower, feeling less tense than before. He was formulating a way to ask her out and gauge her interest as he made his way back downstairs.
Much like Y/N earlier, he was stopped in his tracks. Y/N was bent over on the floor, her ass in the air as she cleaned up the mess on the floor. He was instantly hard again, as if the shower never even happened.
A groan punched past his lips, catching her attention. She looked over her shoulder at him, smiling sweetly, before rising from her spot on the floor, tossing away some of the mess.
She's a little dirty and her clothes are a little damp in spots, but he's wound so tight and he thinks she only looks even better. He'd love to help her out of those filthy clothes. Maybe with his teeth.
"Can I kiss you?" he suddenly blurted out as he took several steps to stand directly in front of her. He hadn't meant to say it, but in that moment it was all he could think or want.
All his plans flew out the window.
His eyes looked her over fondly as he brushed the hair back from her face, "Can I kiss you?" he asked again. She stood in dumbfounded silence, heart racing. She tried to speak but her throat was closed. Instead, she nodded minutely. He smirked slightly before leaning in pressing his lips to hers.
He instantly felt fireworks explode between them, like nothing he had ever felt before. He tugged her closer to him, his hands finding her lower back. She too was feeling the intensity, swooning under his command.
Everything began to work up quickly, their bodies demanding more from each other. Jensen turned and backed her against the closest wall. His knee found its way between her legs, his thigh pressing against her core.
She moaned loudly into the kiss and Jensen eagerly swallowed it down. Their bodies ground together, their kisses and hands growing desperate. It had been ages since either one of them had been with someone.
"I want you," he breathed out against her lips, barely parting from her and hating even the minute distance required to speak, "Want you in my bed. Wanted you there forever," his lips grazed down her jaw and neck as he pressed himself tightly against her.
"Yes," she hissed out in a breath. He moaned loudly, before scooping her up, wrapping her legs around his waist. He dashed up the stairs with her in his arms, surprising her with his strength.
His muscles were more than just show.
He took her directly to his bedroom, closing the door shut behind them. He didn't let her down until they were standing at the foot of his bed.
"You sure this is what you want?" he checked with her again. He had to be sure. If she didn't want this, or might regret it later, then he'd rather not do it.
"Are you?" she blurts out hesitantly.
He grinned broadly, his eyes sparkling, "If I could have it my way, you'd never leave my bed again."
She crashed into him, stealing his breath with her kisses. The urgency picked up once more and they were quickly naked and lying on the bed together.
Then his words truly settled in her mind. Her breath hitched as she met his eyes. Without words he could feel things shift between them. Everything slowed as the mood shifted.
She could feel his passion and want with every kiss laid to her bare skin. She could feel him laying claim with every moan she gave to every mark he left.
When his head sank between her legs, she thought she'd died and gone to Heaven. It took him no time at all to quickly learn her spots and he proceeded to slowly work her into a frenzy.
Just as she was about to reach her peak, he stopped. She groaned and looked down at him. He wiped the back of his hand across his mouth. His lips were swollen and wet, his hair a mess from her fingers tugging on it.
"Wanna feel it the first time I make you come," he breathed out, working his way up her body. At some point he had slipped a condom on. She was too out of her mind to have noticed. He ground himself against her wet and twitching folds and she nearly screamed.
"Please, Jen, please," she nearly sobbed, desperate for her release, desperate for him. She had dreamed of this moment for so long. Her want and desire had morphed into utter need.
He locked away the sounds of her sweet pleading for another time. He was ready to give her what she needed. What they both needed.
He kissed her deep, letting her taste herself on his tongue as he slowly entered her. When he finally reached the hilt, pressed as deep as he could go, they both gasped.
Jensen moved slow and languidly, making them both savor every movement, every touch, every thrust like a fine meal. There was nothing but pleasure, but he was skillfully keeping them both back from that edge, drawing out the connection between them.
He paused from his ministrations of marking her neck with his mouth to look her in the eyes. He cupped her face, adjusted his hips, and began to thrust a little faster and harder while holding her gaze.
She could feel herself cresting, the edge just out of reach. Jensen felt amazing inside her, around her. Better than any dream she could have conjured.
She was pretty sure she was in love with him.
At the realization, she climaxed hard. Her eyes clenched shut in sync with her walls clenching around his cock. Jensen cried out her name, following her over the edge.
He continued to pump into her, working them both through their highs. After catching their breath, Jensen slowly pulled out and discarded the condom, before returning to the bed.
He laid on his back and scooped an arm around Y/N's shoulders, bringing her to half lay across him.
Tomorrow they'd deal with the plumber, the mess and the kids returning from their sleepover. They'd figure everything out. But for now, there was this and the start of something amazing.

Hell Was The Journey
Summary: Max and Spencer's almost meet...two times before they do
Word Count: 1769
Authors Note: I love Max. I love Spencer and Max's relationship. I also LOVE Taylor Swift, so when I was listening to invisible string I couldn't help but wonder how that'd be a cute Maxcer fic. So here I am! I made a separate account to post this. I hope you enjoy!
p.s this isn't probably the first fic inspired by that song, but I am pretty sure it is the first Maxer one. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
4x8
Max let out a deep sigh as she checked her watch. She had an hour before she had to head to her student teaching placement, an hour she wouldn’t have if her professor didn’t end class early.
“Come on Max, let’s act like college students and do something on campus” her classmate Leah said.
Before Max could respond, Leah had already pulled Max off to a direction.
“You know we could be lesson planning. Or even better, go somewhere to eat!” Max grumbled as she would have preferred to spend the hour decompressing her teaching credential program’s tough schedule. Although she looked forward to seeing her students and loved being able to share the passion of art with others, Max still couldn’t help but wonder if this was what she was supposed to do with her life. She followed her mom’s advice about pursuing something she loved, but an art history degree unfortunately isn’t getting her job interviews.
Ignoring her, Leah stopped at a bulletin board that listed all the current events that were going on campus. “Max! They are holding an FBI recruitment seminar in a few minutes, we should go!”
“I don’t think the FBI will be impressed with my 5’2 stature and art history degree” Max snorts and shakes her head. “Besides, we are pretty knee deep in another career path.”
“I know that, but who knows who we’ll meet. Maybe some cute guys are interested, or better yet, maybe there’s some hot FBI agents here already. Let’s go!!” Without giving Max the second to respond, Leah at pulled her off to the direction of the building the FBI seminar was held.
They arrived a few minutes before it started. The presenter was an older man, who seemed to be already chatting with another attendee, who seemed to be dressed to impress wearing a suit and tie. It wasn’t until the younger man turned around that his holstered weapon was visible.
“What have I been doing wrong if he’s in the FBI. He looks about our age” Leah whispered.
Before Max could respond, her phone starting buzzing. Leah sent Max death glares as she picked up the phone, her brother-in-law Jared doesn’t call her unless it’s important.
“Hello?”
“Michelle’s in labor! We’re on our way to the hospital now. Meet us when you can!” Jared hung up right after his last words, probably calling the rest of the family.
After a few seconds of shock and the reality that her sister was going to be a mother, and Max would be an aunt registered, Max gathered her things right as the presenters started introducing themselves.
“Hello, good afternoon my name is David Rossi and I hav-“Leah looked at Max waiting for an answer as to why she was just leaving so quick.
“Sorry I’ll call you later” Max whispered, “let me know how it goes!” She slides out the door and starts running towards her car, knowing she will be meeting her niece or nephew very soon
10x9
Max couldn’t believe the news about her friend Jessica. Although her and Jessica haven’t been close ever since she went behind Max’s back and dated Mike Davis a week after they broke up, she was still horrified and saddened by the details of her death. Max knew that Jessica wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but she was a business owner, and her responses were always out of fear and stress about making ends meet.
She had already been in contact with other mutual friends she shared with Jessica, and she began scrolling through old pictures she had.
Max thought for a very long time that Mike Davis was going to be the man she’d marry. After a tough time getting a steady teaching job and losing her mother, Max so desperately wanted something she could say was hers. This led to her moving quickly with Mike and missing (and ignoring) the clear red flags. Even after the cheating and lying, Max was willing to forgive Mike. No matter how many times they broke up, Max always hoped for the day Mike would just pick her, and only her.
Feeling guilty about practically ending her friendship over a guy like that, Max sighed as she grabbed her keys to head to work. That’s when she jumped over her phone ringing.
“Hello?”
“Hello, is this Maxine Brenner?” a deep voice asked.
“Yes, yes this is her. May I ask who I’m speaking with?”
“My name is Aaron Hotchner, I work with the FBI and I’m calling to ask you questions about your friend, Jessica Harris. She had you listed as an emergency contact.”
Max’s heart stopped. She didn’t know. “Yes, yes of course. We haven’t been in contact as much, but I want to help however I can.”
“Would you be able to stop by our office this morning?”
Max bit her lip. She had already used all personal and sick days, and her current principal was everything but understanding. “I’m on my way to work right now, and unfortunately won’t have time until this afternoon.”
“I understand. Give me a second and I’ll connect you with another agent who can talk to you on the phone, and they’ll see if you should come down again this afternoon.” At the bureau, Aaron looks out his office window. He sees Spencer looking at the board of the case with the pictures of the victims and their location.
Aaron steps out of his office, enough for Spencer to hear him, “Hey Reid, I have a contact that knows Jessica on the phone right now, can you ask her some questions?”
Spencer doesn’t turn around. “I can’t right at this moment, I’m still putting together information about our other victim”
Aaron scans the room and noticed Anderson without a task. “Anderson! I’m gonna patch you with someone who knew one of our victims. If anything seems worthy have her come down this afternoon.”
Max twiddled her thumb until finally she hears another voice, “Hello, my name is Agent Anderson and I’ll be asking you a few questions about Jessica.”
During her entire commute, Max answered questions about Jessica truthfully. She winced when she realized she didn’t have many good things to say about her. Agent Anderson thanked her, and as of right now he doesn’t see a need for her to come down. Max thanked him and grabbed her things and walked towards her school. She knew her students would be able to make her smile.
15x4
It was Saturday morning and Max smiled as her nephew talked about school over breakfast. Her nephew was almost as tall as she was, but she still remembers how small he was when she first held him all those years.
She finally felt like she was in a good place. After many years of struggling silently Max got the strength to go to therapy and take the time and energy to truly heal. It was hard, she always found pride in her independence and her high walls. The decision to go wasn’t easy, but when she realized how much it was affecting her relationship with Sammy, she knew she had to go. For the first time, she talked about her childhood and the pressure of growing behind her sister Michelle’s shadow, losing her mother and her toxic, fast paced and short lived relationships.
For almost two years, she had been applying the advice her therapist had gave her. She took care of herself, began putting effort in her relationships with her family, especially Michelle, and instead of ignoring the topic of her mother, she talked and remembered her fondly. She even got in touch with a headhunter, considering maybe it was time to leave teaching and find something that was meant for her. The other day she even thought about asking her brother-in-law if any of his coworkers were single, but she didn’t because she still wasn’t sure she was ready for that.
“Max, can we get cinnamon rolls at the coffee shop we always go with my mom?” Sammy looked up with big puppy dogs eyes.
“Sammy, we just finished eating. You sure you have room?” Max raised her eyebrow as she paid the bill.
Sammy thought for a minute, “I actually don’t know. But the park is right there so we can always go there for a bit.”
“Mhhh,” Max thought for a minute herself. She looked out and saw that it was a beautiful day in D.C and she would appreciate more time with her nephew, “Alright, let’s swing by the park!”
When they got there, the parking was full. She did a few laps, and she was ready to give up, “Sammy, I don’t think it’s possible we’re gonna have to try again another time.” Max turned her blinker to turn on the road again to drop Sammy off at his house.
“Awe come on Max! It’ll be quick I promise!” Sammy gave his best puppy eyes and Max knew who would get their way.
She turned her car around and parked on a no parking area and turned to Sammy. “We have to be SO quick.”
Sometime past season 15
Max looked out the window of her dad’s house as she plans the summer programs for the Smithsonian. Spencer was teaching Sammy a new magic trick as the rest of her family preps dinner outside. It had been almost two years since that Saturday at the park. Something that wouldn’t have happened if she didn’t make that spur of a moment decision.
Spencer and Max had already realized the two times their paths would have crossed. It was more decisions that delayed their meeting, but they both agreed that they were supposed to meet on that Saturday. They had to go through things, change, hurt and grow to be the person they were today. The person that was right for the other.
Hell was the journey but it brought me heaven.
Max put her things away. There was something that connected her with Spencer, and today, she thanked that thing a little more. She reached her bag that had a positive pregnancy test. Holding it close to her heart, she thought back of all the things that had happened, and she would do it again to be with Spencer and grow their family.
Spencer saw Max walking down to join them, he grins and thinks to himself he will never get over seeing her. He still feels like that Saturday night when he found her again after waiting in the hospital.
“Took you long enough” Spencer says as he laugh

Yeah, fuck this.
Why is it that it's Jared's detractors who call him a giant manbaby, but it's actually his fans that treat him like one?  I'm fully aware he gets a lot of undeserved hate laced with lies and that's not okay.  Swinging entirely to the opposite position that literally anything he does is inherently beyond reproach, though, is certainly … A Choice.
We do not know exactly what happened, and it's quite possible we never will.  The options range from Jensen having suddenly out of left field decided to intentionally and spitefully leave Jared out to Jensen having told Jared something was in the works and Jared having forgot and/or not known it was at the point of drumming up publicity yet.  Even if Jensen thought for some reason Jared knew and/or wouldn’t care - since we don’t know whether it was just the announcement or more that Jared was blindsided by?  I absolutely think this is the sort of situation where you’d want to be 100% clear with someone you consider a friend.  So yeah, Jensen was careless at best.  But that’s between him and Jared, not him, Jared, and a bunch of over-identifying weirdos desperate to see Jensen publicly grovel because they effectively see themselves as Jared's very own overprotective helicopter parents.  So all this running around screaming about Jensen being a backstabbing evil snake who has clearly been abusing poor helpless woobie Jared in private all along, that bastard?  Especially in the context that it apparently took literally one phone call to clear up?  Is only a couple steps less absurd than when five seconds after Jared's arrest for assault you were insisting anybody he punched in the face OBVIOUSLY deserved it.  Jensen should count himself lucky he was the one that had to be talked around to agreeing to the finale, because if Jared hadn't liked it and Jensen had been the one that just stood by and shrugged because he was happy enough when Dabb said take it or leave it... hooboy.  That you've got to the point of being so hyper-defensive over a celebrity that you don't personally know that even when you have basically no details just the suggestion Jared could possibly ever be even partially in the wrong sends you into an overprotective frothing rage?  Well, stop talking about how crazy the minions and AA are and find a fucking mirror.  You're right down there in the mud with the other pigs, baby.
For Jared's part, this is not remotely the first time he's posted about someone upsetting him on social media and it caused his most rabid stans to go on the attack with hate and death threats.  The first time could have been a mistake made in the heat of the moment.  The second time, third time, etc.? Anybody with two brain cells to rub together is going to know what's going to happen at this point, so dropping bait about being “gutted” and then walking away for several hours before the obligatory, “Oh, gosh, no, don't send hate!” tweet is not what I consider an application for martyred woobie sainthood.  This is a known pattern of ill-considered behavior and at best, it's thoughtless and unprofessional.  I'm honestly disappointed because it had been so long since one of these I thought he'd learned some better impulse control where social media was concerned. But, oh, gosh, you say, it was his bESt fRIeND that BeTrAyED hIM, he couldn't think straight!!!  He's a grown ass man.  After fifteen fucking years, if a guy can't extend enough benefit of the doubt to his supposed BFF to pick up a phone and see if this is some kind of oversight/miscommunication/mistake before dragging it out in public to get his mean girls behind him?
It was absolutely reasonable for Jared's feelings to be hurt.  It even would have been reasonable for him to air them publicly if he'd actually found out that he was intentionally and/or maliciously excluded.  I’m not impressed with the other lot of stans jumping to the conclusion Jared is an evil mastermind who gleefully did this 100% intentionally on purpose to tank Jensen’s prequel because he can’t stand not being the center of attention, either.  You want to say Jensen is ~*totally a different person*~ than you thought because of some unknown degree of information deficit given to Jared in unclear circumstances this one time, fine, whatever 🙄.  But if you're seriously going to sit here and try to tell me if a friend of yours got some news that made them think you'd slighted them it wouldn't change your view of that person and their friendship when their first priority was to hit back by publicly oh-poor-me-ing to everyone you knew to oh-so-incidentally drum up vindication & sympathy for themselves over you?  Instead of talking to you to sort the issue like an adult who was actually your friend?  Liar.

 Being In a Poly relationship with Sam Uley, Paul Lahote, and Jacob Black would include: (Male! Cullen! Imprint! Reader)
Requested: Yes
(Your all in a relationship)
Everyone Knew they were in a relationship
They got a lot of strange looks and backhanded comments
But they were able to get through it together- luckily not many people had the guts to say it in front of there faces considering they were all tall buff men
It did get to them slightly, and it took them a long time to be public with there relationship but eventually the hiding got to them and they came out
The pack already knew of course, it would be hard to hide the longing looks they gave to each other normally, but since they can hear each others thoughts? They were outed very quickly
Embry and Jared nearly choke when they first hear a passing thought go through Jacob’s mind about an intimate moment they had shared- and everything quickly unraveled from there
You are the youngest of the Cullen children, mainly because you are human.
You had a rough childhood and were taken away for your family at a very young age
One day you had gotten hurt by and equally poor foster family
Carlisle was your doctor, he instantly noticed the signs of abuse and also realized just how wonderful of a kid you were
He followed procedure and reported the incident to CPS
You were taken away but then you were without a family once again, Carlisle tried not to think about you, knowing there were plenty of poor children in situations like yours and his home wouldn’t be safe for a human child
But when you come back in, this time with a broken arm, he discusses it with the family.
Him and Esme start the process of adoption and cross there fingers.
They’re accepted.
You’re only four so they panic and buy everything they can think of to childproof there house, and set up a room for you- which Alice and Rosalie take care of
You don’t trust them at first, your past foster families had been abusive and even though you were young you still associated the process with being hurt
Jasper keeps his distance from you but uses his powers to ease your stress
When you first go there your three favorite people are Esme, Rosalie, and Carlisle
You love Esme because she makes you your favorite foods and she reads you bed time stories every night- she also was the first person other then Carlisle you met
You love Carlisle because he was the first person who was nice to you in a long time, he was always nice to you and was the first real father figure you had, so of course you want to talk to him for two hours about cartoons and the cool bug you saw outside- although he’s a sucker for your ramblings
You loved Rosalie because she loved you, she babied you, played with you, dances with you, watches cartoons with you every Sunday morning while your still half asleep.
You soon warm up to the others though and over the years your close with them all
When they first told you about vampires they only confirmed a suspicion you had already had
“Wait, so I was right?”
“Yeah a bit...” Edward piped up awkwardly from the corner having forgotten to tell them about your theory on why they were all the same age as when you had met, never ate with you, and never slept
Your still all close, even closer in fact now that they don’t need to hide everything from you
So when they ask you to deliver a message to the wolf pack- who you had never met but were familiar with- you complied
Happily pulling up you grasped the note tightly- technically you knew what to say, just tell them when the training would take place- but that didn’t mean you weren’t nervous about forgetting
With three snaps of your wrist you knocked on the door, eyes low as you tried to keep your nerves at bay- just drop the note off, then leave. It’ll be simple
The door swung open and a stern looking woman opened the door
“Hello?”
“Uh hi, I’m supposed to drop this letter off with Sam Uley.”
“Ah so you’re the Leeches human.”
“Uhm- and you’re Leah the Female wolf?”
She mumbled a yeah and motioned for me to come inside, when you walk in you instantly recognize the wolf pack- mainly because of there tattoos but the fact that they were all shirtless was a large hint.
“Which one of you is Sam?” You asked looking at the four men sat at the table eating a variety of foods displayed on the table.
Two of the men- one you had recognized from Bella’s description as being Jacob black- stopped mid bite and stared at you, which made you shift nervously
little did you know Jacob and Paul were currently in the midst of there entire world shifting below there feet, and suddenly it wasn’t just there partners who mattered above all else, you were at the center of it all.
Right when you were contemplating turning around and leaving before you had the option to give them the letter, or to find out why they were staring at you so intensely, like they were a second away from jumping over the table and tackling you- someone cleared there throat from next to you
You nearly jumped out of your skin and quickly turned to look at the man who had scared you
He was tall, had a stern yet handsome face- and gave off an incredibly intimidating aura
His tightly knit brows instantly relaxed as we made eye contact- which made you think you might have something on your face considering everyone is staring at you
“Are you... Sam?” You asked, trying to put on your best smile despite the feeling of three men staring into your soul causing your skin to crawl
“Yes, and you are?” He spoke, gentler then you were expecting but his voice still carried a powerful undertone
“Y/N, Carlisle sent me to give you the detail on your whole training session.”
He paused for a moment, taking the letter from your hand and glancing at the others
“Your the Cullen’s human?” He asked but it came out more as a statement
“I prefer Y/N, but yes- I’m the Cullen token human.” You tried to lighten the suddenly serious moment, but when you were met with more confused stares and strangely longing gazes you let out a nervous laugh, “You know... I’m just gonna go...” You said sounding slightly more nervous intended
There was a few more moments of silent and Sam, Jacob, and mystery pack member shared a knowing but slightly panic looked.
“Hey, Why don’t you stay for lunch- since you’re already here and everything.” Jacob smiled from his seat at the table- repeatedly hitting the shoulder of another boy until he moved and then motioning at the free seat.
“Oh... I shouldn’t, I mean I’d hate to impose.” You waved your hand slightly, a small smile on your face. They seemed nice but the thought of being glared at for any longer made you want to die on the spot.
“Ah come on, we’d love to get to know the infamous vampire boy.”
You let out a slight sigh before admitting defeat- not wanting to seem rude at this point. “I guess I can stay for a bit- If you stop calling me Vampire boy.... or ‘the leech human’.”
“Deal.” Mystery boy said before motioning his head to the now-free chair, “Now sit.”
You end up sitting down and are able to enjoy yourself, most of the pack other then Jacob, Paul, and Sam don’t talk to you to terribly much, other then introducing themselves.
“Oh, by the way, what’s your name again?”
“It’s Paul.” He practically beamed at your slight attention- you didn’t know it but the three men were all suddenly very desperate to get to know you and have your attention. Hence why they didn’t want you to leave.
Time flew by quicker then any of you would have liked, they all hung onto your every word as you talked, and you found yourself doing the same when they talked.
The rest of the pack quickly caught on and were either fighting back a laugh the entire time or dreading the drama that would likely ensue from not one, not two, but three werewolf’s imprinting on the human Cullen.
Speaking of which, none of the Cullen’s know until the training scene.
The whole day is put on pause for a few minutes as Edward quickly is able to read the thoughts of the pack and tells the others.
Your standing near Bella- confused on what exactly an imprint is but not asking because you had a suspicion it wasn’t good.
Carlisle and Esme are fairly calm, this wasn’t the kind of thing you could control and they were happy you would have three werewolf’s looking out for you- since they were known for being protective of there imprints
Jasper, Edward, and Emmett, had no idea how to feel.
The one time Jasper is stumped with emotions, he knows imprints are usually happiest with their imprinter- or imprinters. But how could he know you’d be safe with them? Alice wouldn’t be able to see if something was going to go wrong so anything could happen
Emmett was slightly confused but he guessed he was happy for you? But also upset that the mutts imprinted on his human
Edward was, just, couldn’t, wrap, his, head, around, it.
Rosalie and Alice were fuming
You were Rosalie’s kid, if they thought for one second they could have you they’d have to get through her
Alice did not like the mutts, especially when they were imprinted on her favorite human- her usually happy demeanor shifted and she held herself back but jasper was gently holding her hand to try and keep her calm
Rosalie however went off
“What do you mean they all imprinted on him! As if dealing with one of them wouldn’t be enough!” She hissed, grabbing your arm and pulling you behind her- which caused the three wolves to snap and growl slightly
“Uh- It’s okay Rose?” You tried to ignore your confusion and comfort her slightly
“No- It’s not Y/N!”
Everyone was very tense for the rest of the training session, you were mainly searching through your memories trying to remember what imprints were- when you did remember you let out a small “oh”
Although you didn’t know the relationship would move past being close friends
Which is exactly what you were for awhile.
Carlisle was able to convince Rosalie to let you go see the pack, not wanting to start a dispute by withholding you
She still gave you a pocket knife and a long rant on how if they try anything or you get slightly uncomfortable to leave immediately- and to listen to you instincts.
But your instincts tell you to completely trust the pack.
The first few meetings the four of you have after the training session were awkward at first but you quickly warmed up to them
You spend a lot of time on the beach and especially just hanging around Sam’s house
You four can just talk for hours enjoying eachothers company
Jacob likes to spend private time with you at the beach, he likes watching you collect seashells- you may have grown up in the area but you were never allowed to go to the beach so you’ve got almost a child-like excitement when you’re there.
Paul likes to take you places, any place you want to go- you got it- he likes seeing new movies with you, especially action films but you’ve dragged him to a few cheesy werewolf movies specifically so you could crack up at them and whisper in your ear, ‘So do you do that?’
Sam likes to have more chill time with you, he takes the brunt of patrolling and just being able to rest, and hang out with you knowing your safe is enough. Not that it’s boring though, he still finds different ways to fill the time but it’s much more relaxing things- one time you made him paint and he refused to show you his piece for days because it was ‘so bad’, you assured him it wasn’t although inside you both knew it was. When he tried to throw it away you stole it out of the trash and brought it home
When you all hang out your in for a fun day, your usually doing something specific because keeping four people entertained can be a hassle if your just hanging out- not that you don’t just hang out but things run more smoothly when your doing something
If they had a particularly long day patrolling you’ll let them just relax- always offering to leave if they need alone time since you do know they might just went to spend time with their partners, but they always insist you stay
They usually lay on the couch and you’ll make them dinner since they do have huge appetites, and Esme did give you cooking lessons so you know your way around the kitchen
Plus it’s nice to cook for someone else other then yourself
Jacob and Paul are always pumped when you cook for them- Sam always reminds you that you don’t need to cook for them, but is secretly just as excited because your an extremely good cook
Speaking of being a good cook- that’s something the entire pack appreciates your skill because you always conveniently make just enough for them as well- totally a coincidence if anyone asks you
Leah starts to warm up to you- she still doesn’t like being around Sam but she realizes your not a bad guy and she enjoys being able to be around you and only you so she can escape the other pack members thoughts but also have company
The rest of the pack loves you- partially because you make them food but also they think your fun to be around- although your rarely alone with anyone other then your three imprintee’s
None of you know when exactly you start having non-platonic feeling for each other
I mean Jasper does, which means Edward knows, and of course they had to tell Alice and Bella, so they all know way before you realize.
None of them are particularly bothered by you being gay, Jasper and Edward have known since you’d get crushes on the male cartoon characters on your shows, Alice didn’t mind you fell in love with a man-men- she just was hesitant about the men you fell for. And Bella always had a sneaking suspicion so it merely confirmed a suspicion she had- although it did go against her religious beliefs, so did being a vampire and she was able to accept that so you liking men? No big deal
Jacob is the first to realize of the three shifters- and since he is the first one to know he panics at the thought of the others not also liking you in the same way
However there is a Domino effect and almost within 24 hours they all realize they all feel the same way- but do you?
“The Cullen’s are going to kill us- not only imprinting on there son but this?”
Them slowly testing the waters to see how you feel is how you realize you like like them
Paul wrapped an arm around you when you shivered in the cold air, he couldn’t fight back the smug smile that painted his features when you leaned further into him
Sam mainly observes your behavior, not wanting to push you so he tries to read into all you slight movements.
Jacob mainly makes jokes under the same style ‘what if we all went on a date together... haha jk jk... unless?’
After five of those kinds of jokes you get suspicious- those paired with Jacob suddenly wanting to spend a lot more time with you and getting you small gifts- along with Sam becoming a lot more touchy feely and also giving you small gifts- you were suspicious the feeling were mutual.
All of you danced around your feeling.
Until you overheard a conversation.
“Jake, we have to take our time, we don’t want to push him.”
“Sam! We’ve been waiting for weeks, we should just tell him, lay all our cards out on the table.”
“Oh yeah, Jake just three shifters cornering you and saying ‘hey you know how we said imprints are sometimes completely platonic? Well this is not one of those times’.”
They had not realized you were standing on the front porch right next to the very open window
Your plan was simple- just back away and stay near your car for five minutes then come back and pretend you didn’t hear anything- simple right?
Not quite since you didn’t hear Jared walking up behind you- and of course he was very loud with his greeting
After a few moments you see Jacobs head stick out the window looking a tad panicked- “Oh Y/N I had no idea you were here!”
“Uh yeah... just got here an bumped into Jared.”
Jared only needed to pick something up and then he was gone and you were left alone with three men who were wondering if you had heard them.
An awkward silence was in the air before Sam finally sighed and asked “Did you here what we were talking about?”
Your face gave an answer before you could speak, but you tried none-the-less “psshhh.... nah I didn’t hear a single thing...”
“That’s obviously a lie.”
Jacob is happy you know and can make a decision if you’d like to stay merely friends or possibly become more, Paul is panicked your going to be completely put off by them all falling for you- they didn’t even know if you were gay so this could actually make you run back to the Cullen’s and never come back, and Sam is a mix of both- he doesn’t think you’ll run but he is worried if you don’t share there feeling your relationship will never be the same, although he was eager to hear what you have to say
“So... you all want... to date me?” You held your breath awaiting an answer.
“Basically..”
You let out a small ‘oh’ as a smile fights it’s way onto your features
They don’t know if your happy or if you’re making fun of them
Sam doesn’t beat around the bush and asks if you have feelings for them in a purely platonic sense, or not.
You lightly punch his shoulder and joke lightly “Not”
“What?”
“Not.” You said again,
“Y/N What the ever living fu-- OH YOU MEAN YOUR FEELINGS AREN’T PLATONIC!” Paul blurts out in confusion and then excitement
You just smile slightly and nod at him, having to many butterflies in your stomach to talk.
The day goes absolutely wonderfully after that- you were planning on just watching The AmittyVille Horror and having dinner, and that’s what you did
But even though none of them had officially asked you out, you all just unanimously agreed you were theirs now and they were yours
For the first time Sam wasn’t the only one helping you with dinner
You had to give Paul and Jacob easier jobs as they were absolutely terrible in the kitchen, Paul was in charge rubbing the seasoning-that same had mixed- on the meat and he was in charge of the playlist so you all had music to listen to- Jake was in charge of chopping, which he was slow and sloppy at but he did his best
You and Sam had already cooked many meals together so you moved smoothly through the kitchen preparing the rest of the food
You all ate together and then watched the movie, none of you were to particularly scared however you all enjoyed the movie
You went home that night very happy and Edward stopped you before you even got through the door
He unintentionally outed you- before you were ready. He hold’s the guilt of that for years- even after you forgive him.
No one really says much, Esme and Carlisle say they’re happy for you and then let you awkwardly walk right back out of the house
Carlisle is technically extremely religious but he knows that god loves all his creations and he knows the bible has been through many different phases, so he know’s it is not a literal guide book- he knows who you are and he loves you regardless
Esme has already known since you were a kid and you told her you secretly has a crush on a guy in your class- when you were in kindergarten- which you completely forgot but she’s always known and always loved you.
Rosalie is fuming- not because your gay, I mean she at one point questioned her own sexuality and she really doesn’t care what sexuality you are, but she does care that the MUTTS THINK THEY HAVE ANY CLAIM TO HER SON
they’ve already been stealing you every other day, but now? what if you move in with them, what if you start seeing them everyday, where will she be in your life? She’s mad and insecure, you end up telling her she’ll always be the best mom and that it doesn’t matter who your with, you’ll never leave her
Emmett is just flabbergasted, you get imprinted on by three wolves, you fall for all of them, they’re all men, they all fall for you. It’s a lot, he still loves you, but it’s a lot
You go right back to Sam’s house- you take a slight detour, you weren’t ready to come out to them so you need a minute
You knock and Sam’s door and only have to wait a second before it swings open- he heard you coming
“What happened?” He said when he saw your face- which you hadn’t realized must’ve looked upset
You just sighed and mumbled “I love them but sometimes living with vampires sucks ass.”
He chuckled lightly and pulled you inside, you didn’t see his eye twitch in agitation that the cullens upset you “You want to talk about it?”
“Not even slightly.”
“Well then, what would you like to do.”
You shrugged and plopped yourself on his couch “If you were doing something I can just chill here.”
“I was only going to clean and go to bed- I’d much rather spend time with you.”
He said plopping down on the couch with you, you ended up talking random things including the scary stories you believed in when you were small and debating what kind of pasta was the best
After awhile you both got pretty tired and you said you should probably go, with a sigh
“You don’t have to if you don’t want to- I mean I’ll sleep on the couch and you can take the bed if you’d like.”
You ended up agreeing with him but insisting you sleep on the couch- threatening to leave if he sleeps on it since he has patrols the next day
You two stay up a tad longer then he let’s you get some rest
It takes you awhile to fall asleep since you’ve never really stayed here over night
In the morning he’s in a bit of a rush but you spend a few mintutes together and then he’s out the door
When you go home all the cullens are hella worried
Takes you an hour to calm them down and convince them your alright you were just to tired to drive
They’re not exactly thrilled but they let it slide- just this once
It takes them awhile to get used to your relationship but once they see your happy and safe they accept it
Jacob drives you around on his bike a lot- sometimes if you need a lift but also just to be with you
Paul is the one most likely to tackle you- it’s actually how you have your first kiss- which is kinda romantic but he also scared the hell out of you
If you want to be technical your first kiss with Sam was a cheek kiss, which he did in the middle of making lunch which through you off
But your first lip kiss was almost just as random but a bit more romantic, he walked you to your car after you all had gone on a date and the others hanged back- he told them to in there minds but you didn’t know that- and kissed you before you got in your car
Jacob was a bit jealous he was the last to the party but he makes up for it in being really cute
Not-so-stealthy wraps a warm arm around you and pulls you close, your sitting on the cool beach so you cuddle into his warm chest, he calls your name quietly so you look up to him and  then he goes to kiss you- but his nose smashes into yours
He immediately apologizes while you die of laughter, unclinging from him and practically rolling in the sand
Defeated he grumpily crosses his arms and refuses to look at you
“Hey Jake~” You call, and now he’s the one turning to you and you steal a kiss
After that you instantly cuddle back up into his warm chest despite the fact your insane blush heated you up
They are always affectionate to each-other and if you think you escaped that- think again,
At least one of them is always touching you in some way- Jake loves to hold you hand, Paul likes to have a hand on your thigh/lower back- and Sam likes to wrap his arm around your shoulders
Sam is a big sucker for face kisses
Paul looooves when you play with his hair but refuses to admit it
Jacob likes to just casually carry your around on his back/in his arms
It takes a good long while for all of you to get intimate
You mess around one on one with each other but it’s intimidating for three Tall Hunky werewolves to just take you
But they do regardless as long as you’re okay with it- Edward and Jasper are very uncomfortable with the new intimacy in your relationship
Whenever there is a supernatural threat you spend 95% of your time with them- the other 5% with the cullens
They will not let you out of you sights, you almost think your getting heatstroke at night when you’re surrounded by three bodies- two of which have arms around you- radiating heat
speaking of which in the winter you still don’t need blankets because they’re all more the willing to be your blanket
One time Paul lost control and shifted near you and your tackled by jacob so you don’t get hurt
Paul spends a weak apologizing
He always hates his temper but it’s been a lot better since you came along
They all become better people with you around- but not because you force them to be, because they want to be with you around
They love you wholeheartedly and that’s all that truly matters
You guys live a long happy life together and no one will ever tear you apart

Being a Mermaid and Jacob’s Imprint Would Include... {1}
Tumblr media
{gif isn’t mine}
xxxxx
You were the one who saved Bella from her suicidal plunge. This is the deduction you made when you saw her jump off the cliff while you were driving, almost causing an accident before hastily parking your car on the side of the road. You didn't hesitate for a second - and when you saw the girl struggling with the waves that threatened to drown her, you've made the right choice.
xxxxx
You planned to leave her on the beach after being sure she regained consciousness, but things didn't turn out as you expected - Jacob saw her jump too, you had just been faster. When your eyes met those of the wolf who had just come out of the forest, you knew you were busted. It's as if Bella had completely disappeared from the landscape. He was staring at you, frozen in place, eyes wide - and you could bet you were doing the same.
xxxxx
Jacob Black had imprinted on you. But you didn't know that, you just thought he was doing that face 'cause of the mermaid tail that served as your legs. “Jake...” Thanks to Isabella Swan who had opened her eyes - and above all, diverted the attention of the stranger long enough for you to disappear in the water. It wasn't good, it wasn't good at all...
xxxxx
It was an understatement. Or a fiasco, as Quil said that evening. It had first taken a lot of time to find you - and even after that, it was tense. Jacob only had eyes for Bella, and 'cause of that was clearly not happy to have found his imprint. He had spent the first few weeks ignoring you.
xxxxx
So did you. You were half mermaid, and the feeling of freedom that went with it was what you preferred - more than anything in the world. You didn't necessarily believe in soulmates. So, being forced to hang out with a stranger 'cause of an invisible bond that could “make you both suffer like sh*t” didn't really please you.
xxxxx
But although you were both hella stubborn, you both had a good heart. Neither of you wanted to hurt the other, it was therefore necessary to accept the idea of making compromises.
xxxxx
Jacob was the coldest at first, but over time (and a few butt kicks from Emily and his pack) he was more open to the idea of forming at least a friendship with you. The more he got to know you, the more alchemy seemed to work. Everyone could testify to this. But even so, only one person burned his mind.
xxxxx
You weren't blind, you knew it. It became obvious why he was so against the imprint - it wasn't 'cause of you, but 'cause he was in love with someone else.
xxxxx
And the more time passed, the more you felt a pinch in your heart each time you saw him with her. But you said nothing. You had no right to. You weren't the type to cry for a boy - you never had a boyfriend so far, and you weren't desperate to have one. Especially if it was to be the second choice.
xxxxx
A special bond with the pack, always teasing each other as soon as you have the opportunity. Especially between you, Paul and Jared - fish jokes, dog jokes. Obviously. “Man, it smells like dead fish here.” “Emily, what's that horrible wet dog smell?” Being Jacob's imprint, you spent a lot of time at La Push. And they all greeted you warmly - unlike the wolf.
xxxxx
Even Leah had taken the first step in getting to know you - shocking, right? You thought it was out of pity, but you were wrong. When you learned her story, you knew it was something else and that she understood you... in a way. She was the only one you could really tell your feelings about. She would keep them for herself, at any cost.
xxxxx
Teach Jared how to swim. Whenever his "brothers" pushed him to jump off the cliff, they teased him thinking that he was just afraid of heights - but in reality, the wolf wasn't a very good swimmer. Only Leah knew. He was too proud to admit it (men and their pride) and kept this secret well hidden in the back of his mind, where the pack couldn't find it. When he asked you for some lessons you started by teasing him first, but you ended up accepting. He could be particularly annoying, but he was your friend.
xxxxx
Jacob's face was priceless when he discovered you on the beach one day. His imprint, almost bare in her natural mermaid form, glued to the wolf, his brother, that gripped her desperately as if his life depended on it. His hands were on your waist - hidden by the water which reached you up to the chin, fortunately - while yours held his solid shoulders. “Fuck, Jake... it’s NOT what you think. Like, really not.” But it was already too late.
xxxxx
You barely had time to realize what had just happened. You heard Embry's voice screaming your name after Jared yanked you away, growls and snarls mixed with splashing noises. Jacob had transformed in the space of a flash, throwing himself on Jared who barely had time to change. You had never seen him lose control like that before... Paul was usually the hothead, and the vision of the other shapeshifters trying to separate the two “brothers” literally broke your heart.
xxxxx
After the confrontation everyone was worried about you, you were nowhere to be found. Maybe you were hurt, scared... or both at the same time? You seemed to have cut all contact with the pack - and Jacob. And even if he refused to admit it, it was slowly killing him from the inside.
xxxxx
He screwed up, badly. From the start he had behaved badly with you, being rude without any valid reason. You didn't deserve this, and now you were gone... how could he make it up to you now?

MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
"BELLA DON'T!" The panicked, desperate words came not from the best friend that had fallen in love with her, but the sister who had cared about Bella far longer on a far deeper level. When Jacob had failed to convince her even after he pulled each and every string he knew, Y/n stepped in to give it a shot.
Bella's expression remained constant. Grim and guilty, but also a little panicked. "I have to." She struggled to find some way to explain it but came up with nothing.
"You have a life here," Y/n insisted. "Someone who loves you and will treat you better than a guy who's bred to kill you. You're food to him!"
Bella stepped away from me. "You don't know what you're talking about."
Y/n grunted in frustration. "He left you! Without hesitation. You told me he didn't care for you, and now you're going to prime vampire central because he's put himself in danger? Come on Bella!"
She shook her head. "He's doing it because he thinks I'm dead."
"He's doing it because he's a drama queen who's overly obsessed with you in the most creepy way possible!" Y/n argued.
Bella ripped away from her. "One day you'll understand."
Y/n felt her loss and stepped away, her eyes watering. "I hope I never end up like you, Bells. The way you guys cannot survive without each other... it's toxic."
Lost on what to say, Bella got in the car, leaving Y/n and Jacob to simply watch it vanish in the distance around a corner. When she was really gone, Jacob broke. Soft sobs came from him as he turned away, trying to hide his face. Y/n, completely understanding, moved to him. It was easy to forget when he was there taking up her attention. She rubbed his back until she got him to open up to her. He finally scooped her up in a hug, burying his face in her neck.
Y/n and Jacob were the same age. They didn't go to school together, but with their dads being so close, had been friends for ages. When Y/n had chosen to stay with Charlie and Bella with Renee, Y/n had quickly taken Bella's place as Jacob's best friend. They had both depended on each other for a long time, finding solace in each other away from everyone else. When Embry left, Jake came to Y/n. When he had a crush on Bella and she got with Edward, he came to Y/n. When Bella had decided to stay with their mom and Y/n had stayed with their dad and that meant that the two girls wouldn't see each other anymore, Y/n went to Jake. When her first boyfriend didn't show up to her first dance and stood her up, Jake had gotten dressed up and gone with her instead.
It only made sense that as Bella rode to her probable death for an asshole that was throwing a fit after HE left HER - rightly so might I add - Jake and Y/n spent the night together, cuddling and comforting.
Charlie wasn't going to be home for hours and they hated empty, silent houses, so they headed to Jake's instead. They stayed silent as Jake drove, moving inside with the same quiet. "Do you mind if we make a stop by Emily's? She's really good at comforting?"
Y/n was plenty aware of what Jake was. Y/n had actually found out even before Jake knew when she'd confronted Embry about hurting him and things had gone super south when she'd set him off. Thank god Sam was there to intervene. It had been a relief to be able to comfort Jacob when he'd turned too, even though she'd been secretly hoping he wouldn't.
"Of course." It was less that he thought she wouldn't want to go to Emily's and more that he was asking if it was okay to be around other people. Y/n had never met any of the other pack members. She did adore Emily though, so she didn't mind. It was nice to know Jake had more people who were much closer to go to for comfort, other than her and Bella.
There was a rule at Emily's: if you heard talking, come in. Jake knew how awkward I was about just walking into new people's houses though, so he knocked.
Emily answered, smiling with greeting and confusion when she saw it was Jake. "Why did you knock?" Jake motioned to me and her eyes moved. She nodded, her smile growing. "I see! And who is this?"
"I'm Y/n Swan," Y/n greeted, holding out her hand.
Emily rolled her eyes, amused instead of annoyed. She pulled Y/n into a hug and it was strong and warm and Y/n felt like nothing could ever bother her again. No wonder Sam had fallen for her. No wonder this had been Jake's default place to go for comfort. Emily radiated a motherly, safe energy like no one else Y/n knew did. "Now come in. I can make you some food. You hungry?"
Y/n giggled as she was pulled from Jake and into the house, her previous companion closing the door behind the two women. "Y/n!" Embry cheered, standing and jogging to her to envelope her in a hug. Embry had become as much of a brother to Y/n as Jake was. She melted into him and he seemed to sense her need of a pick-me-up. So he did just that. He picked her up, right off of her feet, and spun around. She squealed, cinching tightly to his body to stable herself.
They were both laughing when he set her down. She shot a wide eyed look at Jake, who busted up as well. Emily made a comment about being careful and not breaking anything, but it was lost as Y/n looked around to take in everyone else. See if she knew anybody else.
She did not.
However, her eyes seemed to graze over everyone else just to race to the moment when her gaze net his.
He was a little shorter than Embry. A little more muscled. He had a smile that made her a little nervous, a mix of curiosity and a little danger in his expression. His hair was just as dark as everyone else's, but favored a short hair style like Jake's rather than a little long and wavy like Quil's or Embry's. He was looking directly at Y/n, as if waiting for her to look back. And when she did, both of their breaths caught.
His face went blank and his skin seemed to go an odd color, like he was motion sick or something. His body relaxed. His grip on the fork in his hand loosened and fell onto the glass plate underneath, making a very loud clatter that made Y/n jump.
Everyone looked over at him. "You okay over there, man?" one of the other people Y/n didn't know asked.
Jake nudged her as Embry finally let her go. She managed to tear my eyes away from the boy - who was really pretty and overall nice to look at and also shirtless dear god why were they always shirtless - and look over at Jake as he began speaking. "So, let me introduce you to the gang. Embry, Sam, and Quil you know. Then we have Leah and Seth, the Clearwaters. You remember me mentioning them?" Y/n nodded wordlessly. "Jared is the one next to Seth." They all waved as their names were said, Leah settling on just looking over and then away. "And then there's Paul."
Looking back at him loosened Y/n's chest. She hadn't realized that it was squeezing when she'd looked away, but the relief now was indistinguishable. "Hi." She meant the word to be smooth and clear, but came out as a kind of choked off squeak.
Paul... blushed. Someone laughed and then everyone's eyes went wide and I felt like I was suddenly on the outside of a conversation I'd missed the beginning of. Someone else made a noise that was obviously a laugh being masked as a laugh. Everyone was smirking. Except Leah. She rolled her eyes and looked away.
"Hey," he finally managed. The room grew quiet, which was very unnatural for this group of people especially. Awkwardness and tension settled in as Paul and Y/n held eye contact for a whole minute.
"Okay," Embry sighed rather heavily. "Seth, move over and let Y/n sit down." Seth giggled before doing just that. Jake didn't help as I shot him a pleading look- Embry had begun moving me to the mow empty chair. He sat me down and I was burning with how close I was to the very pretty man who was still staring at me.
Everyone turned away, forcing sudden conversation that didn't include me or Paul. What was going on, and why did it suddenly feel like I was being set up for something? There was something in the back of my brain, just out of my reach. Something I wasn't really remembering. Something that would make this make sense. Jake had told me all about the wolves and what had happened. What was I missing?
I'm kind of disappointed, you know? But I guess it was more lucky that I didn't imprint on Bella than anything.
Imprint.
Oh god.
Y/n looked at him, feeling her heart beginning to race. "I-" He had finally looked at her as she spoke, food forgotten but obviously searching for something to say to her. Was this shyness usual for him? How were they ever supposed to get along if both of them were quiet and awkward? Y/n stood, her mind racing, and booked it around the other boys and out the door. Her arms crossed over her chest as she began walking home like the total idiot she was.
Behind her, the door closed. Then slammed open again. "Y/n! Y/n wait!" She turned as Paul caught up to her, almost slamming into her. The two were far too close but neither of them could gather the self control to move away. "I- You- I have to-" He grunted as he struggled to say anything.
She swallowed. "You imprinted on me." Paul looked up, surprised. "Jake told me all about you guys, when he turned and then Sam told him I knew. He tells me everything."
Paul nodded then took a second to think. "I know it's kind of sudden and stuff-"
Y/n barked a short laugh that made Paul frown nervously. "Ten minutes ago I was losing my mind as my sister drove off to go after a fucking leech. A monster from nightmares born to kill her, and a toxic boy who watches her when she sleeps and is emotionally demanding and exhausting. Ten minutes ago, my world was destroyed as I watched helplessly as the person who used to be my mom became more like my child after that same asshole ditched her and left her comatose for MONTHS and completely broken after she finally became responsive... That's been my life for- for forever. Bella. Taking care of her and making sure she's alive. And suddenly you're here and I'm supposed to forget how she's probably terrified and in danger and going to die tonight, all because a really pretty boy looked at me and his wolf shit kicked in and now I'm his or whatever."
It was silent for a very long time. "You're not mine, Y/n." He moved even closer, his hand raising to brush her cheek softly. "I'm yours." She swallowed. That was so much responsibility... "And yeah, it's a lot to handle in a short amount of time. I can't imagine- god I don't know how you and Jake don't lock her to her bed and kill that leech yourselves. How you can watch it and deal with it. I wouldn't blame you if you did, even though it's against the treaty or whatever." He rolled his eyes. "But the great thing about being my imprint is now you have me 24/7. If you're upset or in danger or just need someone to try a new dish you've cooked or someone to rant to or someone to sit down and binge watch a show with you so you can have someone to rant about it with, I'm your man. And as long as I'm not out there fighting someone or Sam doesn't need me for something just as important, I'm instantly available. No more coordinating with Jake and balancing with distance. I'm there and I move fast, so it doesn't matter where you are, I'm now with you." His hands moved awkwardly through the air, his words earnest.
Someone to be by my side... No matter what day or time or distance... Well, within reason.
"Wow," Y/n whispered. "That's a lot of work for you." Suddenly her heart was racing again. "I'm really hyper once you get to know me. I never stop talking. I'll bug you constantly, I really will-"
"Good," Paul interrupted. Both of them were getting excited. They were even closer now, as close two people can be without having to cross their eyes to see each other. "Any reason to be around you as often as possible. I'll take it."
Y/n licked her lips. "I know I said that I have a lot going on... but you're really pretty and very close and I kind of really want to kiss you."
Paul laughed. "Thank god." The hand that was on her face earlier moved to cup her cheek, the other hand gripping her waist. It started hesitant and soft but the second their lips touched, the kiss grew hard and his grip became rough and desperate. He pulled her to him and she was knocked breathless. Her fingers wrapped around the back of his neck, slipping up to lightly grip the short strand of his hair. The kiss broke to allow him to gasp, sucking air in sharply with rhythm to the light tugs.
"Holy shit." They finally parted, giddy smiles on their faces and a shared sort of lightness in their bodies. "Do that again."
Paul grinned. "How about for now-" Y/n popped up on her tiptoes, quickly pressing her lips to his again. He jerked forward, deepening the kiss instantly. He grunted, pushing her back for a second, blinking to clear his mind. "I want to do that. A lot. But uh-" he inhaled deeply and then exhaled again, trying to stabilize himself. "You make me very nervous and I'm super not used to that. How about some food?"
Y/n's smile was soft and sweet and warm and beautiful. She'd loved hearing about imprints and kind of had wanted Embry to imprint on her. When he hadn't, she'd moved on from the idea and been perfectly fine with just chilling instead. But now... she was kind of overexcited at the prospect of being handed someone she knew would be good for her.
They were both excited about it.
The most fun would be learning WHY they were good together, though.
And they were excited for that too.

Chapter 12: Run
Tumblr media
Grace didn’t realize how disappointed she’d be the next day when she showed up on the reservation and started running rounds with the wolves. It was at least good practice to get in with Jake and connect with Quil who had just joined.
She was disappointed because it had been almost boring. There was no sign of the redhead vampire and Grace spent the day recasting through the forest alongside Jake and Paul, only taking breaks to let Grace catch her breath every now and then. By the end of the day, she had mastered using recasting as a form of running alongside the pack. Since they travelled at or above the speed of certain vampires according to Sam, Grace was able to hold onto one of the wolf’s forms in her head and recast as a flicker next them before recasting again (she often chose Jacob for this, but if Paul or Sam were closer, she’d hold onto that instead).
She kept pace best with Jacob, often recasting ahead or behind Paul or Sam which made Sam uncomfortable, thinking that she was making herself unnecessarily vulnerable to unknown threats up ahead.
As the sun dipped under the horizon, Paul, Jacob, Embry, and Grace went back to Emily’s to rest. Jared, Sam, and Quil stayed out running wider loops to cover entry points that they knew the redhead had taken in the past.
Grace was thoroughly exhausted and collapsed on the small couch in the living room. Embry sat on the floor and leaned his back against the couch, resting his head on Grace’s arm and Paul plopped on the opposite end of the couch, hoisting Grace’s tired legs onto his lap before also leaning his head back against the back of the couch and closing his eyes.
Grace was pulling in deep breaths, trying to relax. She hadn’t spent an entire day recasting so quickly like that before and she felt the fatigue pull over her. She threw her free arm over her eyes listening to the rhythmic breathing coming from Embry and Paul.
Jacob stood off in the kitchen with Emily eating a massive sandwich she had prepared. Paul and Embry were too tired to grab food when they came in. She listened to the soft voices of Emily and Jacob as he filled her in on the pack’s progress.
Before she knew it though, she was fast asleep.
----
She found herself in an unfamiliar clearing. Dry leaves and flowers wilted around her feet. She was in a long burnt orange prairie dress that her mother used to wear when she was little and would play with her on the reservation in her bare feet.
The sky roiled above her, dark threatening clouds moving too quickly. This felt like the spirit realm, a world she temporarily touched when she would recast. Things were recognizable, but when you lingered on them for too long, they started to bleed with an eerie realization.
She could barely see in the treeline, it was masked in shadow. She squinted and took a step forward, but the sound created a reverberating crunch that made her flinch. Things scattered in the treeline, just out of sight. Her heart quickened.
Something was wrong.
She felt no warm presence around her, no wolves, no human, nothing. Just coldness. A stranger in a strange land.
When she exhaled, she realized she could see her breath and something in her began to shake. A figure was making its way closer to the edge of the treeline toward her, slowly like coming up from under deep water. The form shifted and changed shape the longer Grace looked at it until it broke through the trees.
‘Edward?’ Grace’s voice left her mouth and floated across to Edward, shimmering a ten feet from her and echoing out around him. She kept her eyes trained on him, the coldness still not leaving her.
He didn’t speak, he only looked down and to the side, the exposed skin on his face and hands glittering wildly. He mouthed something but it sounded like  warbling mumble deep under water.
‘What?’ Grace said. She made a move to take a step forward but Edward’s eyes suddenly snapped up and trained on her, intense, burning, like a predator. Her breath caught in her throat and she felt sick. Around the canopy of the rushing sound of the trees she heard birds escaping up and into the dark sky, screeching frantically, but she couldn’t see them. The sound grew and as Grace kept her eyes on Edward who looked ready to pounce, she heard him clearly this time.
‘You should stay away from me.’ The tight line of his mouth drew back revealing a terrifying grin with sharp incisors.
The sound of the screeching birds transformed suddenly. When she focused on the sound, she could hear screams, calls in high voices. She tried to hear what they were saying, but could only make out one word: Run.
As if in slow motion, Grace turned to run just as she felt Edward push off the ground behind her and lunge for her. A dark shadow pulled over her and darkened her remaining vision as she felt the coldness descend and press down and down until-
----
Grace’s eyes snapped open and frantically looked around her. She was still on the couch in the warmth of Emily’s living room. Embry was slumped on the floor beside her and Paul was sitting at the table eating and talking with Emily. Quil was back, but Jared, Sam, and Jacob were missing. She didn’t know how long she had been asleep for.
“What time is it?” Grace murmured.
Paul looked over his shoulder at her, “Almost midnight. I can take you home.” Grace nodded and he stood up and rubbed his hands together to rid them of crumbs before pulling on his hoodie.
When Grace reached the front door, he was right behind her and placed a hand nonchalantly on her lower back leading her out the front door and down the steps to his forerunner. Emily looked after them concerned, but didn’t make a move to stop them.
Comfortably sat in his warm truck, Grace leaned her head back on the headrest and let the dream seep away from her. Paul didn’t say much and just kept his eyes trained on the dark road as he drove her home. She was grateful for this but shot him a warm smile every now and then, noticing that every time she glanced over, he seemed to be looking back at her.
When he pulled onto the side of the road just in front of her house, his eyes glided up to the lit bedroom window. Grace thought that was strange but just leaned over, gave him a hug and jumped out. He waited until she got inside, she turned to wave once she pushed over the front door, and then gave a wave before heading off down the street.
Grace pulled off her boots and walked quietly up the stairs, not wanting to wake Charlie who had fallen asleep on the couch. When she made it to the top of the landing, she stopped. She heard voices coming from under the closed door to her and Bella’s room. The light was on like she and Paul had noticed when they pulled up. Grace stopped for a moment and heard the rushed and soft voices of Bella and….Jake? What was he doing here?
She crossed the landing and went to open the door when she stopped, her hand resting just above the doorknob, waiting.
“Let’s just get out here. Go somewhere. Alone. Away from Sam and everyone.” Grace heard Bella say. Her voice wavered somewhere between desperation and intense loneliness. Grace’s heart panged.
“You’d do that for me?” Jacob replied. Grace closed her eyes tight fighting the rushing feeling pulling in and around her heart. She had no reason to feel like this. She tried to tell herself this every time she saw Jake. No reason to be overwhelmingly happy and light, comforted and safe, pulled in one specific direction, with an ache that only seemed to subside when she was near him. She opened her eyes and stared at the doorknob, trying to make herself move.
“Jake.” Bella said. She couldn’t do this, she couldn’t just sit here and listen.
“It would be so much easier if you knew, please. Please try to remember,” now Jake’s voice took on a note of desperation. Grace felt cracked in two and the force of it pushed her through the door suddenly.
Her grand entrance was met with Bella and Jacob very close together, Bella’s hands on his lower arms, his cradling her arms by grasping her elbows. Their heads were leaned in close, too close, to one another. Jake was shirtless and Bella was staring at his mouth.
Grace must have looked frantic, she hadn’t realized that her hair was askew from sleeping on Emily’s couch and probably tossing and turning from that nightmare. Not to mention the bags under her eyes from pure exhaustion after today.
Jacob stepped back slowly from Bella when Grace walked in. Cool, no shame whatsoever. She thought and then mentally chastised herself for it. Who was she? She and Jake certainly weren’t dating. He was free to do as he pleased. But she just didn’t know why it made her feel like this then.
Bella shoved her hands in her back pockets and looked to Grace.
“Long day?” Bella said, not meaning to cause insult to unspoken injury. Grace raised an eyebrow at her and then looked to Jake who was shifting uncomfortably.
“Paul give you a ride home, then?” Jake asked. Grace’s head spun.
“Yes to both.” she said. “I’ll just-” she hooked her thumb behind her out the door and went to the bathroom. She closed the bathroom door and turned on the faucet, looking at her face in the mirror for a second before dunking her entire head under the cool water. When her hair was fully saturated, she flung it back, letting the water splatter on the tile and the wall. She let the cold rivulets of water run down her face and shirt and back. She winced when she looked at herself at the mirror and saw the hurt there. She heard a light thud and rinsed her face off before heading back into her room.
Bella was sitting on her bed and looked up at her when she walked in.
“You okay?” She looked genuinely alarmed.
“Yeah, long day, like you said.” Grace said. “What did Jake want?”
Bella hesitated. “What do you do at the reservation all day? Are you hanging with Sam and them? Or?”
“What do you mean?” Grace’s back was turned away from her as she opened her drawers and pulled on a big tshirt and sleep shorts.
“Well…. Jacob won’t exactly tell me what’s going on with him and Sam and that new group he’s hanging out with. Which is why he can’t see me now. I just wondered if you knew...what was going on?”
Grace sat down on her bed opposite of Bella and stared at her intently for a moment. She remembered the order Sam had given: Tell no one about the pack’s the existence or the existence of vampires. But Grace’s recent dream had shaken her up and made her look at Bella differently. Why had it been Edward in her dream? Elder Ti’Hal had taught her to never disregard a dream or vision or wondering because it usually tugged at something deeper--a truth your mind was trying to tell you.
Grace looked at Bella critically. If she brought up Edward now, Bella would crumble. She didn’t want that. So she found a different way to answer the question.
“If Jacob can’t tell you, then I shouldn’t either.” Bella’s face dropped. “Not that I don’t want to tell you.” She didn’t. “But it’s probably better if it came from Jacob.” It wasn’t.
“Right.” Bella nodded, disappointed.
“I really need to get some sleep.” Grace burrowed under her covers and turned her bedside light off. Bella nodded and crossed the room to turn off the overhead light. Just as she switched it off, Bella said,
“Grace. We’re just friends. I promise.” She whispered the word promise. Tears finally rose to Grace’s eyes as she struggled to respond.
“Okay.” She was finally able to say with a measured, curt tone. She swallowed hard.
“Goodnight.” Bella said.
“Mmhmm.” Grace mumbled. Hoping for the sweet crushing relief of sleep, Grace closed her eyes tightly.
But sleep would not come and just outside, she could feel the warm presence of Jake standing in the forest and looking toward her house. A look of wanting filled him that she could perceive and it crushed her further, allowing the tears to finally spring and soak her pillow.

No longer lost in Forks
The follow up piece to my first imagine “Lost in Forks”.
I feel so much pressure putting out a part 2, I hope you aren’t disappointed! Clearly on a roll though with my second post this weekend!
Tumblr media
Paul’s POV
I’m not ready. I’m not ready. I’m not ready. I get my phone out of my pocket and open up a message to Jared.
- I can’t do this. I can’t have her hating me. I can hold out. Tell her another time.
- Bro. STOP IT. She’s going to keep going off into the woods looking for whatever it is she’s looking for unless you tell her. This isn’t for you, it’s for her! Also Kim says stop being an idiot, she wants a new friend so hurry up.
I roll my eyes and put my phone back in my pocket. I’m ready, I’m ready. I can do this. Just then, the door to the restaurant opened, and Y/N’s beautiful scent filled my entire being. I CAN do this. I wave to her and smile, she smiles her beautiful smile, face radiating beauty and happiness, and she starts making her way towards me.
“Hi Y/N”. I say awkwardly, reaching my hand out to shake. What the hell am I doing? She stares at my hand, before batting it away and reaching forward for a hug, then kisses me on the cheek.
“Hi Paul. Oh you smell good! What you been up to today?”
I blush. What is this girl doing to me?
“Just hanging out with Jared and the guys at the beach...we are having a bonfire later, if you want to come? We can head over after we’ve eaten?” Her eyes widen, and she smiles that beautiful smile again.
“I would LOVE to!”
~~~
3rd person POV
As each hour passes, Y/N and Paul move closer together. They talk about school, and friends, and life. Y/N feels Paul’s warmth from his arm draped behind her. She scoots closer, and rests her head on his shoulder. She looks up and laughs. Her breath tickles his neck as she whispers, “I think they want us to leave”.
Paul looks at her dreamily, oblivious to the time they had spent together and just happy to be in the company of his imprint. Ignoring the news he needed to share with her, ignoring that she was unaware of what she truly meant to him, ignoring the fact that he was the beast she had been searching for, the eyes in the shadows.
He looks around, seeing the three wait staff standing to the side, whispering and looking at their booth. He looks at his watch.
“Woah, is that the time? We better get going or we will miss the bonfire, we CAN’T miss the bonfire” Paul calls over their server and asks for the bill.
“Quick, grab your coat, I’ll drive us”. Y/N looks confused glancing up at Paul as he grabs his jacket and quickly puts it on, he suddenly seems really on edge. Why is he suddenly so stressed? I thought this was going well. She thought to herself.
Paul holds out his hand, Y/N doesn’t hesitate in taking it, as she says thank you to the host as they leave the restaurant. Paul immediately feels calmer at her touch as she follows him to his truck, jumping in as he holds open her door, closing it carefully behind her.
~~~
Y/N’s POV
Paul doesn’t say anything as we drive into La Push, but I can see him glance at me when he thinks I’m not looking.
“Are you ok?” I ask, noticing his hands tighten on the steering wheel.
“Erm yes, just...this bonfire is really important, it’s...well...it explains a lot about my tribe, and...I think you are important to me....and well, it’s...important that you know this, erm....know this about me.” He glances at me, then looks back to the road.
I blush at his words, you are important to me. I don’t know what it is about Paul, but I feel drawn to him, in the short amount of time we’ve known each other, and he was important to me too. We text all the time, he phones me every day to chat, and if I look at my phone and don’t see a message from him I feel disappointed. He’s important to me too, I realise.
We pull up alongside another truck as he turns to face me.
“I’m important to you?” I ask, blushing slightly.
“Of course!” He looks shocked that I even need to ask, and he glances at my lips, then back up to me eyes. “You are the most important person in the world to me” his voice drops to a whisper, the feeling of his breath sends shivers up my spine.
He leans in closer, waiting for me to close the gap.
When our lips meet, it’s like one of those cheesy moments from movies. Adrenaline pumping through my body, sparks, shivers down my spine and my heart thumping loudly in my chest. It was brief, but the soft feeling of his lips lingered on mine as he pulled away, hand still cupping my face as he stared into my eyes.
“Wow” I breathed.
Paul smirks, the cocky Paul I’ve been told so much about appears briefly, before he remembers what he is meant to be doing and suddenly looks stressed again. He briefly kisses my lips again before opening his car door and walking around to mine.
“So at this bonfire...I just need you to listen. You’ll probably have lots of questions. But just listen. I promise I will answer them all afterwards.” He holds out his hand and I take it, walking with him towards the bonfire on the beach ahead of us.
~~~
3rd person POV
Billy Black had just finished the story he had told many times before, as everyone began sneaking looks to where Y/N was sat next to Paul.
Her face was scrunched in confusion, processing the story she had just heard. Processing the information she had just learnt.
Paul stands up and offers her his hand. He gestures towards an empty patch of the beach, that borders the tree line of the forest. “Let’s go for a walk” he suggests as Y/N takes his hand and stands up, offering a smile to Paul’s friends as they walk away.
“So he’s finally doing it?” Embry asks Jared as they watch the pair walk away.
“She hasn’t known him that long remember” Sam states as he warily looks at his fiancée Emily.
Embry and Jared share a look before laughing. “It just feels like it because he’s been following her for so long!” Jared snorts before Embry adds “you mean stalking!” Before they both fall to the sand, rolling around with laughter.
“He was protecting her you idiot! You know it hasn’t been safe for her to be involved until now, stop being mean about your pack brother” Kim flicks Jared’s head before turning to Sam and Emily.
“It’ll be fine Sam, don’t worry”
Sam hums in response before turning his attention back to the bonfire in front of him.
~~~
“So...wolves? That’s a pretty cool legend to have. The most interesting story I have in my family is a random great great uncle who got attacked by a bear. They never found his body, so they think the bear ate him.” Y/N laughs as she looks up at Paul, her expression changing quickly as she sees how serious he looks.
“What if I were to tell you that it wasn’t just a legend. That...it was true?” He looked at her hopefully. The imprints the pack had met so far had all taken the news differently, and he wasn’t sure what Y/N’s reaction would be.
“True?” She furrows her brows as she glances between Paul and the ground. “What do you mean true? Like there are people in your tribe who turn into wolves?” She laughs briefly before looking up at Paul. His eyes are fixed on hers. She can see his hopeful look again, a look willing her to think again. “True...? As in...you turn into a wolf?”
Paul nods briefly, pulling her into the tree line so they can’t be seen. “I need you to know that I would never do anything to harm you, no matter my...form.” With that last word he walks away from her towards a collection of trees huddled closely together, giving him some coverage. Y/N stands where he left her, looking towards the trees where she last saw Paul when a small growl reaches her ears, along with breaking and ripping noises she can’t quite place.
Suddenly an enormous grey wolf walks out slowly from behind the trees, and Y/N is frozen to the spot in fear.
~~~
Y/N’s POV
I willed myself to move. Desperately pleaded with my legs to run. But I couldn’t.
The wolf walked slowly towards me, eyes fixed on mine when I was suddenly hit with a familiar feeling.
Walking home from a friend’s house at night and glancing towards the tree line, feeling a set of eyes watching.
Walking on one of many, many ‘guided’ hikes in search of that same feeling, then suddenly recognising that those eyes had been watching the whole time.
Looking out a window at night, knowing that those same eyes were out there again.
It was him. Realisation dawns over me. I always felt such familiarity with Paul, now it was becoming to become clear why. It was him.
“It was you” I finally said out loud. The wolf in front of me whined slightly, before nodding his head. He slowly moved towards me again until he was standing just inches away. I reached out my hand to stroke his soft fur, then leaned my head against him and sighed a contented sigh. A sigh that was the recognition that I no longer needed to go searching for those eyes that made me feel safe, they were right there, I knew who they were, what they meant.
“It was you.”
A/N: I’m not sure how I feel about this one. I still feel like there’s potentially more to say, but please let me know what you think.
Jensen had just finished making dinner as the ladies made their way downstairs, following the mouthwatering scents. Dani stopped in her tracks though, instinctively shielding Y/N behind her as she caught note of Jensen's bitterness.
"I figured you'd be hungry," Jensen sighed, leaning against the island after putting the finishing touches on the dishes. Lingering looks and stares passed between the three of them as the silence and tension drew out.
"Why don't we all sit together?" Dani suggested, guiding Y/N towards the island counter and onto one of the stools. She kept her head bowed, not wanting to further upset the agitated Beta.
He was a large man, imposing, and could easily be mistaken for an Alpha. Dani, on the other hand, looked like an Omega. She was slender and feminine, her delicate features something Y/N wanted to study for hours on end. Though Y/N suspected her Alpha could be a beast if warranted.
Jensen shook his head in disbelief, laughing humorlessly to himself before staring Dani in the eye, "I understand that you need your Omega. And I understand that you and I are still the same," he assured Dani, "But that doesn't mean I'm okay with it, that I'm okay sharing my wife."
"Jay-"
"No," he slammed his hand on the counter, his anger finally coming forth. His Beta senses suggested maybe challenging an Alpha wasn't his best move, but he ignored that part of him.
Y/N jumped in surprise and Dani grew defensive of her Omega, stepping closer to her to fend off the threat. Jensen scoffed.
"I can't do this right now," he shook his head, heading fast out of the kitchen. Dani ran after him, leaving Y/N sitting alone in the unfamiliar kitchen. After several moments of harsh whispers, Y/N heard the door slam, a distraught Dani returning.
Y/N's heart sank, feeling her Alpha's sadness. She wanted to go to her, comfort her Alpha. Dani sensed it and shook her head, moving to the other side of the counter and dishing up plates for them.
"You need to eat," she explained, sitting down next to Y/N.
"But…Jay-"
"He just needs some time to cool down," she sighed, pushing around the food on her plate, "He's gone to Jared's, I'm sure," she rolled her eyes.
Y/N got the feeling she wasn't really talking to her so much as just talking, "And he's worried about me having someone else. He and Jared are practically married! They spend more time together-" she stopped herself, closing her eyes, "Eat."
Y/N had a feeling there was a recurring argument on that topic. There was so much she didn't understand. Guilt and elation were equally weighing on her. How could she be happy if her Alpha was miserable? Maybe this was all a mistake.
Tumblr media
Gen smiled as she answered the front door, her smile quickly fading once she saw Jensen. It wasn't that he was there, she was used to that. Jared and Jensen dropped in on each other all the time. What bothered her was his disheveled hair and clothes, the flush to his skin, and the fire in his eyes.
"What happened?" she asked, ushering him inside with an arm around his waist and shouting across the house for Jared. He came bounding into the room with a big grin until he saw Jensen.
Jared was pure Alpha, through and through, though he was very kind and warm. But when it came to family - and especially Jensen - his Alpha kicked into overdrive, ready to protect.
Jensen's eyes met Jared's and he felt about to cry, "Dani found her Omega."
Gen guided Jensen to sit on the couch, Jared moving to the drink cabinet and fixing a whiskey for them both.
"You need a drink," Jared offered him the glass and Jensen downed it in one go. Jared gave Jensen the other full glass before going back to the cabinet and pouring another for himself.
Jensen explained the whole thing, finishing off his second drink by the time he was done.
"She said she's not leaving," he began explaining as Gen Sat next to Jared on the loveseat, "S-she wants us both," he huffed.
"Are you worried about sharing her?" Gen asked.
"I don't want to share her," he admitted, "I don't want to get replaced either. I'm just a Beta."
"You're not just a Beta and you know that," Jared chastised, "I don't see why you're so upset. You're not losing Dani, you're gaining a second wife," he chuckled, "Dude, it could be Penthouse Forum up in there!"
"Jare!" Gen shoved him lightly and shook her head, "Would be kind of hot," she added after a pause, her mind now mulling over the details.
"Such a dirty little Omega," Jared growled, pecking her lips before Jensen cleared his throat, bringing them back to the conversation.
"Is everything a dirty joke to you?" Jensen teased, cracking the smallest of smiles.
"It wouldn't hurt to at least try to be friends with her," Gen said, "You're going to be spending the rest of your lives together," she let that settle into Jensen's mind. With Y/N and Dani mated and Dani and Jensen married, the three of them were going to have to learn to live together. He didn't want to admit that she was right, but she was.
Tumblr media
Jensen stumbled into the house, yanking his keys from the door and trying to quietly shut and lock it behind him. A few hours and drinks later and he walked back home, Jared's house not far from his own.
He was grateful they sat and talked it out with him. When he first left, he wasn't sure if his marriage would last. Now at least he felt confident enough to come back home. He tried not to think of them likely cuddling and asleep upstairs.
Deciding he needed some water before passing out, he made his way to the kitchen. He almost didn't see Y/N sitting at the island with her own bottle of water.
"What are you doing down here?" Jensen asked, his tone tired and gentle as he retrieved his own bottle. He tossed the cap, taking several gulps before leaning back against the counter.
"Just got thirsty," she said, showing him the bottle. They both drank in awkward silence for a while.
"I don't hate you," Jensen finally spoke. Y/N's head popped up in surprise, "I don't really like you very much right now," he added, "But we're gonna have to try to get along, for Dani's sake.
"Jay-"
"My name's Jensen," he nearly growled out, "Jay's not for you."
"Jensen? Really?" Y/N chuckled, seeing him getting riled once more, "Okay, okay, I'm sorry."
"Is she okay?" he asked after another long pause between them.
"She's asleep," Y/N said, "She wasn't so great after you left. We laid together in the guest room for a while, but then she went back to her room I guess," she shrugged, but Jensen knew that had to hurt her.
He wanted to be happy about that, but he found he was only saddened by the rift between them. New mates were supposed to rejoice in their bond and Jensen had to go and ruin that with his tantrum.
"I'm gonna head to bed," Y/N hopped off the stool and tossed her empty bottle in the recycling, "You should go check on Dani," she offered as a final word before retreating upstairs. Jensen heard the guest room door click closed and he sighed.
He finished off his own water before heading upstairs into his bedroom. Dani was asleep on the bed in her usual spot and it made him smile. He stripped off his layers before climbing in bed behind her. She stirred and turned towards him, her eyes fluttering open.
"Jay?"
"Yeah, it's me," he said, accepting the desperate kiss she gave him, reciprocating in kind. They wordlessly settled into the bed and fell to sleep, both silently worrying over the Omega in the other room.
Chapters: 1 of 2 Summary:
Takes place in the aftermath of Mag 92. Recently cleared of murder, Head Archivist, Jonathan Sims, takes a moment to decompress in the archives after a hellish week.
[CHAPTER 2 HERE]
It throbed
Ached
Burned
The events of the past few days came crashing down on Jon as soon as he left Elias’s office.  Lord, he hurt.
Vagley, he wondered at the events that had led to working in a place where “not dying” was considered an accomplishment.  Yet alone one where a sociopathic boss allowed him to take the wrap for a murder Jon did not commit, and spend the preceding week being stalked by the circus, having unpleasant interviews with the lightless flame, being cast into the vast and hunted down by Detective Tonner.
A sense of being watched sent a jolt of fear through Jon.  He cast about for signs of Daisy.  Was she gone?  Was he safe?  He didn’t think he could deal with her now, not after-
Stop it.
Jon sagged against the wall of the decidedly deserted corridor, the world shifting in swirling bursts.  Alone, at last and again; he was alone.  His good hand constricted around his wrist in a vain hope the pressure would alleviate the pain.  It didn’t.
A distraction, that’s what he needed.
Perhaps he could get some work done.  It might be enough to take his mind off of things-  He recalled several articles on ADHD outlining how quickly they picked up on the presence of pain stimuli, especially when it was the most interesting thing happening at the moment.  There were a few other journals that indicated ADHD people had a higher pain tolerance than their peers.  Jon snorted.  He was still on his feet so there must be some truth to it.
Good lord.  If he was supposed to have a high pain threshold, what must something like this be for a normal person?  Then again-he wasn’t exactly a person anymore, was he.  The way Daisy had- Stop it, now.
The last thing he needed was to dwell on Detective Tonner and the events of the Past several hours.
Jon all but collapsed into his chair, allowing the exhaustion leading his bones to pull him down.  He held his burned hand close.  Too close as the heat radiating off his body set his hand burning anew.  He hissed, forcing it as far away as physically allowed.  Practically prostrating himself across the marred surface of the desk.  Causing a small avalanche of paperwork and statements to slide to the floor.
He cursed under his breath.  Why did he always have to make such a mess of things?  Why couldn’t he do anything right?  He’d driven Tim and Martin away, put Georgie in danger, couldn’t keep Melony or Basira from getting ensnared and...Sasha-  Jon swallowed past the lump in his throat, disgusted with himself.  He could barely think straight yet alone work.  His breath hitched sending a sharp jab of pain from his throbbing ribs.  Detective Tonner’s baton hadn’t...agreed with him.  Acrid saliva pooled in his mouth, for a moment Jon feared he was going to be sick.
Jon forced himself to still and breathe.  It passed.  The insistent burning sliding back to the surface.  He did the only thing he could do, and turned attention to that all consuming pain.  Attempting to capture the feeling with objective detachment.  It was a technique perfected after the Jane Prentiss incident.  Cataloging the sensations as though they were happening to someone else, another statement for the archives.  That academic veneer had given him some modicum of control, of understanding.
He desperately wanted that now-
Then again, that was the reason he was in this mess, wasn’t he?  Always having to know?  He sighed, sliding back into memory.
Once, while living with his grandmother, he had scalded his hand ladling out soup.  It had ached for a week and flared up if he touched anything so much as tepid.  This was so much worse.
Unbidden, Elias’s words came floating back ‘The Archivist observes and experiences’.  Jon groaned.  Right, and what good would that do?  Distastefully, he eyed the improvised bandage of t-shirt strips.  He should change it, he knew but his stomach soured at the thought.  Recalling kneeling on the hard earth, frantically prying off the molten wax.  In his hast he hadn’t registered the blistering skin tearing away with it, leaving his palm raw and exposed.  Part of him didn’t want to face the grotesquery behind the bandage- to see what monstrous form it had taken.
It burned.
He knew it burned.  He knew it needed looking after and he begged his brain to stop sending the signals.  After all:
Message received.
End the bloody statement.
Burns were nothing at all like cuts.  Cuts were well behaved.  Delicately, Jon probed the ragged edges of the gash at his neck.  Cuts were predictable.  Pressing down till he felt the sickening twinge slice through.  For a moment there was this known experience, this expected outcome.  He forgot about the burn, replaced only by the sharp sting in his neck.  Then it all went sideways.
Jon was looking back into the cold eyes of Detective Tonner as she pressed the blad to his throat.  She had wanted to cut him, to hurt him, to kill him.  She killed monsters, and she’d made it clear where he stood.  His pulse jumped and his chest started to restrict as he saw once more Michael Crew, prone on the forest floor.  The muzzle flash burned itself once more into his retina and Crew was dead.  Daisy had done that.  Daisy had done that right in front of him and Daisy had meant to do that to him and the fear threatening to spill over.  It was too much, just too much!
“Will you stop it!” he shouted out loud, pinching the burn with all his might, abruptly returning to the physical experience of pain in the here and now; the nausea coming back with vengeance.  He whimpered, pressing his face into the cool of his desk.  Breathe.  Just, breathe.  What good was it to be a monster if it hurt so badly?
Once more he wraped fingers about a slim wrist, attempting to cut off the circulation.  Anything to dull that burning.  He longed to submerge it in ice.  If he couldn’t stop the pain, maybe he could numb it, a little at any rate.
With heavy eyes, he calculated the distance between himself and the door.  Funny, it never seemed like it was that far away before.  Jon wanted nothing more than to close his eyes and rest for a few moments, but his body simply protested too much.
Ice, right, ice would help.
He pushed himself upright on elbows and forearms.  Jon’s legs felt heavy, as though he were borrowing someone else's.  It was hard to move, much harder than it had moments ago- he glanced at the clock, jared to see hours had slipped by.  How had that happened?
He couldn’t understand why his body was having such a hard time moving when he’d been fine this morning.  He couldn’t understand why the world wouldn’t stop spinning.  The door to his office was closed, meaning he’d have to let go of the burn to open it.  For an insane moment, he considered surrendering and curling up under his desk.  But Jonathan Sims never knew how to give up, did he?
Martin had had a bit of a day.
Why wouldn’t he of?  It wasn’t every day that you find out your very life is tied to your place of employment, your coworker had been killed over a year ago replaced by a supernatural imposter and that your “double boss”, to use Tim’s turn of phrase, was a cold blooded killer.
And Jon-
The man knew how to make an entrance, stumbling into the archives, covered in grime, flanked by Detective Tonner and Basira.  And core, he looked bad.
After the, Martin had been whisked away by Basira and Daisy to...answer a few questions.  It had felt more like an interrogation than anything else.  He wondered why it had been so difficult for them to accept that he had been as much in the dark as the rest of them.  Tim hadn't helped matters by continuing to make a string of dark comments and Melony had started to genuinely unnerve him.  Which was saying something considering he literally worked among Eldritch horrors.
After everything, he needed a moment to himself.  Away from angry coworkers and murderous bosses and prosecutorial police detectives.  He retreated back to the old cot in document storage, mulling things over late into the day.  For once he didn’t worry about wasting institute time.  If Elias was to be believed, Martin could no more be fired than he could quit.  Always, his thoughts returned back to Jon.  He hoped the man had good enough sense to go home and rest up.
“I need a cup of tea-” he said to no one in particular, scrubbing a wery hand down his face.  As far as he could tell, the others had left hours ago.  Just as well, he didn’t feel up to peacekeeping at the moment.
Martin froze at the door of the employee lounge.  Jon was there!  Standing with his forehead pressed against the fridge.  Looking for all the world like he was about to fold at any second.  Even from his vantage point across the room, Martin could tell he was trembling.
“Jon?” he regretted speaking at once.  As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Jon lept like a spooked cat.
“M-Martin-'' his voice was faint, frayed at the edges with exhaustion.  Concern gripped Martin’s chest as he took the man in properly.
Even covered in ruddy mud; the bruises under his eyes were stark, stretching his gaunt features in agonized lines.  He had a death grip on a thin wrist of a badly bandaged hand.  It reminded Martin of the aftermath of Jane Prentiss and having to chase him away from the tunnels to ensure Jon had time to heal.
Only this was worse, somehow.  Then, Jon had been angry, driven by the single minded purpose of finding out who had it in for the archivist position.  But now- the fight was gone, leaving him small, vulnerable and lord, he looked defeated.
“Can I help you?”
Jon made a complicated spazam of a movement Martin couldn’t make heads or tails of.  Muttering something about getting some ice as he listed to the side.
Second Place
A/N: Got this idea from another story of mine that I have yet to start.
Moms have been friends for a long time and they spend every Christmas and New Years together in the mountains. This year is no different…or so they thought. (Some M)
~~~~~~~~~~
After their usual Christmas Eve dinner at the lodge with the moms, Kensi and Deeks head back to their cabin, leaving the matriarchs at the bar. They avoid drunk Bertie and Jules as much as possible. The two together sober is more than enough for anyone but once they get a few drinks in them there’s no telling what will happen.
There’s nothing unusual about this year, they always get dressed up but something’s changed between Kensi and Deeks quite recently. Ever since they got up to the cabin a few days ago things between them have seemed more charged.
As they walk down the hall towards their respective rooms, they share a few glances, similar to those before dinner. Luck for them the moms had already headed to the restaurant and didn’t witness the moment between their kids as they both stepped out of their room dressed to the nines.
Realizing he can’t drag out the night any longer, he sends her one last smile before turning to open the door. “Goodnight, Kens.”
“Goodnight.”
“Oh and, Kens.”
She turns around, wondering and hoping what’s about to leave his lips. Pleading with her eyes that he’ll stop her. “Yeah?”
“You look really beautiful.”
Thank goodness for the low lighting because the blush spreading to her cheeks is not really something she wants him to see right now. “Thanks.”
Their eyes lock, both swirling with so many emotions that neither of them can find the courage to tell the other. Deeks sighs, and goes to open the door one more time, but this time it’s her question that makes him pause.
“Hey, Deeks, you-you uh never told me…why did you and Emily break it off?”
She’s his best friend. Why can’t he tell her? Tell her that he’s been in love with her for so long he didn’t realize it until his ex-girlfriend pointed it out to him a few days ago. “She said she was tired of coming in second place to you and uh…she uh, thinks I’m in love with you.”
At his words, her heart begins to pick up speed, could this be it? “Deeks…”
The softness in her voice is unrecognizable to him. He’s not sure if it’s her fixing to let him down or the one he wants it to be…that of want. “I know, crazy, right?”
“Yeah, crazy.”
“Why did you and Jared break it off?”
“Same reason.”
The tension in his shoulders dissipate at the realization of the opportunity that’s right in front of them. Here and now, but he wouldn’t be himself if he didn’t mess with her a little bit. “He thinks you’re in love with yourself?”
As the smirk curls up on his lips, Kensi’s body continues to get warmer and in her heart she knows this is it. This is the man she loves. The man she’s loved for most of her life whether she knew it or not. “I love you.”
Taking a few steps forward, he closes the distance between them. He slowly leans in and places a kiss to the nape of her neck. Working his way up towards her jaw, her body shivers at his proximity and finally gives in. She turns her head, meeting his lips, her fingers finding their grip on the lapels of his jacket and pulls it off of him. Not stoping for anything, Deeks’ hand slips through the slit in her dress, gripping her thigh and lifting up her leg. “I love you, too.”
She moans as his hardening cock presses against her wet heat. Never did she think today would end like this, but she’s sure as hell glad it did and judging by how his lips are possessively taking claim over every inch of her body, he is too.
As the heat grows between them and their tongues continue to duel, she jumps up, wrapping both legs around his waist. He blindly walks backwards, fumbling for the door nob and opens his door.
His lips continue their assault on her neck, his fingers finding the zipper on her dress before he sits her down. Her lips stay glued to his as her dress slips from her shoulders and onto the floor. Slowly they fall back on the bed in tangled limbs and just they’re about to shed the last of their clothes from each other’s bodies, Deeks pulls back, his eyes latching onto hers. “I’ve waited so long for this. So long that I didn’t even realize I wanted it so much until now.”
She never knew it could be like this. That she could have everything she never knew she wanted. The desperate love that’s so clearly written in his eyes makes her want him that much more. To be with him, every minute of every day. “Show me how much you want it, Marty.”
XXXX
Later that night…
It’s midnight before Roberta and Julia finally make their way back to the cabin. Sober enough to think before they step inside, they take off their heels and make their way inside. Tiptoeing as quiet as can be…or so they think, the two women make their way into the living room and are about to turn towards the hall when something in the corner of Roberta’s eye catches her attention.
Turning towards the kitchen, her jaw drops open in shock at the sight of her son and the woman that’s been like a daughter to her dancing in the middle of the kitchen. She reaches out, grabbing ahold of her best friend’s arm. “Look.”
Julia’s breath catches as the two continue to sway back and forth, their eyes locked as if they’re the only two in the world. “Oh, I wish those two would quit fighting it.”
“You and me both.”
The best friends try to fight their smiles as their mothers’ loud whispers cross the room. They’re about as subtle as a gun. Deciding to put the two women out of their misery, Deeks leans forward, pressing his lips to his girlfriend’s.
Kensi smiles against his lips, making him smile in return as they listen to the women’s reactions.
“Oh, my gosh.”
“We’re gonna be in laws!”
“Good thing we already started planning the wedding.”
“Jules, that binder’s gotta be 20 years old by now.”
“So, it’ll give us a template.”
They pull back when air becomes scarce, Kensi’s head finding his chest as they continue to sway. “You know we can hear you, right?”
The two matriarchs gasp before clumsily walking down the hall towards their rooms all the while giggling like a bunch of school girls.
Kensi can’t help but smile. She and Deeks may be ridiculous but it’s only because they had those two to look up too. “Think they’ll be disappointed tomorrow?”
“Maybe hurt but not disappointed.”
There’s a beat of silence until her eyes go wide in realization. “Oh my god.”
His brow furrows as she pulls back from their embrace, wide eyed. “What?”
“Remember a few years when they had to suddenly leave early because they “forgot” about their friend’s big New Years Eve party the next day?”
“Yeah, and they left us up here, stranded without any vehicles.”
“And last year when they decided to take a cruise for Christmas without telling us until we got up here.”
“Oh my god.”
“Food poisoning.”
“Mmm. That was a cozy year.” He smiles thinking back to when they had to share a room the whole week because their moms both mysteriously came down with food poisoning the night they arrived.
“So you’re telling me we shared a bed for a whole week and you knew you felt something and I knew I felt something but neither of us tried anything?”
“Well, you were seeing some other guy and I didn’t want to mess with what we had.”
Her brow furrows in confusion as she thinks back and then it dawns on her. “I wasn’t seeing anyone.”
“But, you said…“
“I said Spencer and I went out a couple of times.”
He nods, remembering how heartbroken he felt when she told him the information during one of their weekly Friday movie nights.
“Spencer’s a girl.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“How did we not know how each other felt?”
She shrugs, not really sure how to answer his question. “Maybe we were just so use to the feelings we had for one another since we were young that we thought it was normal for two best friends to feel that way about each other.”
He wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her flush against his. “You know, you’re right.”
“I’m sorry, what was that?”
“You’re right.”
“I think I deserve an award then.”
“Look at that! Right again!” Before she can say anything else, he picks her up and throws her over his shoulder in a fireman’s carry, earning him a trail of laughter and a pinch on the ass as he walks towards what is now their room.
Merry Christmas indeed.
