i saw someone who clearly knew a lot about insects and other Creepiest of Crawlies, like more than i would, like "identifying based on scientific name" type shit, but they still tagged every post with a picture as cw insect/cw bug, even when such thing was not an insect or bug but a slug.
so i assume it's because even though it isn't scientifically true, they're tagging for the convenience of ppl who are afraid of such creepiest of crawlies, so they would not have to see the irrevocably ghastly visage of an slug.
but it makes me think, that sucks, right? to be so afraid of a vast majority of life on earth, that you don't even recognize a slug is not an insect or bug.
well "bug" is not a scientific descriptor, so i get that, but it surely isnt an insect.
i don't like how much ignorance about insects and other Creepiest of Crawlies (nondescript) is normalized.
you'd probably be less terrified of them if you learned more about them, for starters...
#and this is not me judging the op who did the tagging bc as i said#theyre smarter than me#so i know THEY werent making a mistake#they were just tagging for the sake of other ppl#but it made me think abt the type of person who would need slugs hidden from view#but thought slugs were bugs or insects.#Like at that point what are you afraid of?#since your concept of the animal is so unclear that you don't even know what it is...#well fear is entirely based on ignorance so it cant be helped i guess.
