Your arrival at the space station upturned his perception. He wasn’t sure why he yearned to be near you, why his senses craved your smell and sight. He lamented the blooming affection in his discernment. Often lying awake at night, struggling to satiate the urges.

Your favorite pastime was playful banter; he rarely smiled, but it pulled at your heartstrings when the corners of his lips slightly lifted. When he picked at his food, you went out of your way to find out what he preferred and arranged your meals around his. You spent almost all of your time on the parlor car. That isn’t to say you weren’t interested in adventuring, you frequently noted the prettiest gems March showed you during their trips. You asked Dan about the stuff he enjoyed, but it’d usually amount to “I was too focused on staying alive to take in the scenery.” You recall entering your room after their return and noticed an iron scrap flower sitting on your windowsill. Dan nonchalantly admitted to the act, mentioning how he overheard your liking for metallic constructs. You originally thought this was simply an extension of your friendship, but the burning ache in your body spoke otherwise. The little things he did, such as bringing small gifts or ingredients for you to experiment with made you seek that numbed heart, imprisoned in ice. 

Himeko joked about your sour mood whenever Dan Heng was gone. You read while she stared at you, amused by the pout on your face. “Hmm, your boy toy is missing. Feeling down?” Your head shot up, ears hot from the assumption.

His expression was the same as always, but he felt disconnected from you, like he discerned a grim future. He didn’t come to dinner and went to sleep. When you asked March if something happened, she shifted uncomfortably but finally spoke.  

“Dan Heng...he changed on the Xianzhou Luofu.” She’d conveniently left out most of the story. 

“What do you mean ‘changed’?” you questioned, finding it hard to mask your worries. “He had horns and... It was all really new. I kinda wanna forget about it, too.” You didn’t pressure her for more information, and she went to her room shortly after.  You tossed in your sleep, wondering what he must’ve gone through, and what you could do to help him. 

You awoke in an inky blue void, the stars cascading a brilliant aura across the night. There were no other planets visible; only the vast moon, a divinely warm glow, alluring and protective in your gaze. Heavenly bodies carried infinitely above, shaping the moon in its godlike image. You stood in a comparatively small pool of iridescent liquid that waterfalled off each side. It marbled from refracted shimmers, cool to the touch. Somehow life emerged in the barren quiet, white lotus’ decorating most of the area. They never spilled down the stream, as if they'd been waiting. In said pool, was a man with elvish ears and gleaming horns, kneeling turned away from you. His pale arms were shackled behind him, and his delicate hair cascaded down his naked back. If you listened closely, you could hear the faint sobs he tried to stifle. You wanted to comfort him, to calm his nerves. You took a step, and he stopped. He didn’t acknowledge you. You took another step, your hand wishing to touch him. Before you could, you phased out of your dream.  

For the next two weeks, he didn’t leave his room. Not when you were around. At the same time, this reoccurring dream was plaguing your thoughts. It ended the same way each time. March aimed to console you, but you felt she knew more than she led on. Fatigued from your restless mind, you decide to talk to Himeko instead. She stirs her drink while Welt reads the paper. 

“Good morning, (Y/N).” said Welt. 

“Good...morning.” you yawned, rubbing your worsening eyebags. 

“You don’t seem okay. Is everything alright?” Himeko asks, motioning for you to sit beside her. 

“Something is wrong with Dan Heng and March isn’t telling me everything. I was hoping you would.” Welt clears his throat, sets the paper on the table and walks away. Himeko puts her hand on your knee. 

“He’s feeling unwell right now. It’s best we don’t disturb him.” 

“I’ve been having this weird dream, of a guy with horns. He’s crying. And I can’t save him. What does this mean? Why is everyone keeping this from me?” Alarm flashes in her expression, but she composes herself. She sucks in a deep breath. “Do you know what a Vidyadhara is?”  

“No.” 

“Vidyadhara descended from dragons, and they’re very powerful. Dan Heng is a special case of Vidyadhara, so we must treat him as such.” 

“So why can’t I see him?”  

“It’s important that we avoid him while he’s in the process of...getting through this.” 

“But someone has to check on him, right? I could be the one to do it-” 

“(Y/N). Dan Heng requested specifically, that I don’t allow you to see him.” You felt your heart pierce. You believed you were friends with him, so why was he forcing you away? “Oh. Okay.” you said meekly. You went back to your room to contemplate. 

 You were a ghost throughout the day, serving food in silence. When the crew went to bed you prepared a hearty soup to soothe whatever illness he had. He’d probably reject it, but the selfish side wanted to know why he was upset with you. Even if he didn’t have an answer, perhaps his voice would be adequate. Arriving at his door, you knock twice gently. 

“I have some soup for you. Himeko said you were feeling ill. I won’t disrupt you, just want to make sure you’re eating.” He said nothing. “If you’re not hungry, let me know and I can store it for tomorrow. You can’t get better on an empty stomach.” You hear rustling inside, but he still said nothing. 

“Did I do something wrong? I’m sorry if I did.” 

“You didn’t do anything wrong, but I need you to go away.” His voice is feeble, and it scares you. 

“Can I please leave this on your desk? I’ll go away right after, I promise.” You 're practically begging, but you need to see him and know he’s okay. Dan Heng’s weakening mindset rationalizes his risky judgement, and he allows you to come in. He should be able to defend you from himself with the strength he has left; there’s no other choice. “Okay.” 

When you open the door, you’re horrified at the state. Books and precious documents were strewn across the floor or shredded, along with most of the blankets. He’s hunched over on the futon clenching his abdomen, strands of hair sticking to his shiny forehead and puffy lips. He was in a form you've never seen, dressed in elegance in contrast to his shaking figure. The clothes were disheveled, however, the window on his top ripped down the middle, exposing the muscular torso underneath with his pants pulled just under his v-line. He's flushed and sweating, a look in his eyes that both terrifies and excites you. What was most shocking were the pointy ears and horns protruding from his head. The same ones from your dream. Sola doesn't really meet the Galahdians in Little Galahd until after she's been adopted by Tredd, so the glaives would be the first Galahdians she meets. And honestly, Sola feel an even stronger sense of kinship with these fae-like glaives. All her life she hasn't fit. She's an Omega when most LCs are Alphas, she's an Omega Sword when Swords are never Omegas - Hearts and perhaps the occasional Shield, but never Swords - and she's got distinctly nonhuman instincts even with the instincts that come from secondary genders.

Amongst the glaives who don't care to conform to Insomnia's definition of human, Sola, for the first time in her life, actually feels at home.

Yes, she still joins the Kingsglaive. She's less demanding in this verse - the Kingsglaive is Captain Drautos' territory, and one doesn't lightly invade an Alpha's territory even if that Alpha is sworn to her father. Instead, Sola sets up an actual appointment (Cor is neatly distracted by Abyssus and Ignis and maybe some surreptitious aid from Amissa) to meet with Drautos and formally request to train with the Kingsglaive, as she's finished her apprenticeship under Marshal Leonis and seeks to expand her capabilities to better protect her King.

Titus is well aware of the Rage Sola went into not even a week prior. All the glaives know, the princess was in no way subtle for all that she kept her Rage contained away from anyone who might get caught in the crossfire. Unlike his glaives, however, Titus knows the reason for Sola's Rage. Knows the King forbade Sola from accompanying her brother to Tenebrae on the basis of it being too dangerous. And Titus has to wonder how well Regis actually knows his daughter, because even in the bare handful of times he's been close enough to the Princess to observe her Titus knew how poorly Sola would take that decision. A Cloudy Dragon of an Omega, and Regis denied her from protecting her Territory?

A Rage was inevitable.

And now the Cloud (who might have been a Sky, before attempts to make her conform into an ill-fitting mold made her retreat so far into her Cloud that any hint of Sky was thoroughly overwhelmed) is sitting on her own bristling territorial instincts, bowing her head to his authority as the Alpha of the Kingsglaive, despite technically outranking him as Crown Princess.

This isn't just revenge towards the King and the Marshal for separating her from her younger brother and Sky. Sola is desperate.

Of course she is, Titus realizes. By barring Sola on the basis of it being too dangerous, the King has implied that Sola isn't good enough to protect her Sky. Despite having completed her apprenticeship under Cor the Immortal. So Sola has gone looking for training from one of the only people capable of match the Marshal in a fight. Titus.

If he turns her away, it's likely Sola will do something exceedingly reckless to prove herself capable of standing as Noctis' Sword.

Well, at least she'll fit right in with the rest of his reckless idiots.

Cor and Regis do try to pull Sola from the Kingsglaive. Not necessarily because of the Kingsglaive's fae reputation. No, it's because they think Titus loathes Regis, and that makes them wary of Sola being in close proximity to the man. Of course, Sola puts her foot down and actually snarls at Cor when she's pulled from bootcamp and sent up to Titus' office to find Cor demanding she leave the glaive. And not the playful snarls she's always given him before during their spars or play fights. No, this is a full on this-is-your-last-warning-before-I-tear-your-throat-out snarl, complete with bared teeth and hands curling into claws.

Titus rumbles low in his throat, a wordless admonishment to keep things civil, please, and Sola forces herself to settle with only a low grumble. Cor's too well trained to rear back in surprise, but his magic betrays him where his body doesn't, and Sola can feel the shock and instinctive wariness hearing that kind of snarl from an Omega elicits. They are able to work things out civilly so that Sola can continue training with the glaives, and Cor is able to warn Regis when he comes home with Noctis so Regis doesn't try the same thing.

Of course, Sola training with the glaives means she stops conforming so stringently to all those human sensibilities, so there's absolutely rampant gossip that Sola's been turned fae by her association with the glaives. Then those that remember Sola ripping out an assassin's throat with her teeth chip in, and the gossip mutates to Sola always having been fae and it's merely a matter of the glaives reclaiming one of their own.

Before joining the glaives, Sola would not have been happy about the rumors. Now, after training with the glaives in being sneaky and pants-shittingly terrifying, Sola is all too willing to use her new skills in psychological warfare to her and her King's benefit.

Sola absolutely still gets a massive crush on Libertus, Nyx still calls her Pipsqueak and gets his kneecaps taken in revenge, and Tredd still ends up adopting her around her 19th birthday. Dunno if Sola ends up bonding with a Retinue, but if she does they're all Galahdians and the public sees it as further proof of Sola being as fae as the rest of the glaives.

Anyway idk if uve decided to pull for luocha yet or not but i wanna give my two cents (1/2)

LUOCHA:

pros : he's SP positive and basically won't need to skill ever unless its an emergency, he can dispell buffs from enemies, and he has a cleanse so he can get rid of pesky debuffs from allies. Also, you only need to focus on ATK% on Luocha and speed if you want him to generate as much skill points as possible, tank stats like HP and DEF are great too, and you won't need much Effect Res on him because he has a trace that can increase his chances of resisting Crowd Control debuffs, his heals are massive and incredibly comfortable to run any team with him

cons : Gallagher exists now, and he's kind of a budget Luocha option who also provides some utility in his debuff from ult and enhanced basic atk (break dmg increase and atk% reduction for enemies specifically), Luocha doesn't provide any dmg increasing buffs for the team unless you have his E1 or his S1 LC that can give 12 spd for one turn but imo its not that great. Luocha's heals are plenty but as with all healers (barring Luochas E2 that can shield), they don't really help to prevent HP loss or stuff like a boss one shotting ur team, they restore HP and help so u can survive for longer rather than block the dmg from coming

Overall : he's a powerful solo sustain , and I'd recommend him especially with an SP negative dps like Dan Heng IL, Seele, Qingque etc etc. and also HP draining DPS like Jingliu and Blade. Overall a very comfy healer, but I don't recommend going for him if you want to use Gallagher because they provide nearly the same value just Gallagher has less healing as in HP wise but he basically does a similar thing of once u ult with him when allies attack they can get their hp restored too

OOOH TY TY good points for both... for me a major reason I want him is he can heal w/o it being his turn and w/o an ultimate, but I think if I just get gud I can reduce the amount that I actually need to do that. Also besides Lynx who is wayyy underbuilt Natasha is my only healer. Fu xuan is a good sustain but I actually like Nat more in that department lol. Iirc he can also cleanse debuffs like Nat? which is INSANELY helpful

U make a good point with Gallagher... In general I jist need more healers of different elements. I think I may pull for him on one acct abd save for Boothill on the other? But its hard to decide which one .... On one hand my America acct has wayy more characters and benefits more from a good healer rn, but having Luocha on my Asia acct would help SOOO much w/ some of the bosses I struggled with (COUGH. PHANTYLIA. COUGH.). Well I have a lot of time to decide since his banner only just started ^.^ ill save for now and decide l8r

Hello again. I have another question regarding Nox-verse. I was scrolling through the tag (again) and I came across the adopted/adapted hc about death/near death scars noticeably glowing when near the crystal. And I was wondering, how does everyone react the first time Nox and Ardyn are close enough to the crystal for scars(and conspicuous non-scars) to be affected? Does anyone know what that means beforehand, or do the people who know about Ardyns scar figure it out based on context clues?

Ohhhhhhhhhh tricky question. Imma probably ramble buckle up:

-Setting aside the fact that Ardyn and Nox were NOT enthused with the idea of getting within four hundred feet of the Crystal, let alone close enough for the glow, the first sign of it is from Ardyn, because he has the most scars and his brand is more than happy to go off like a lightshow near the Crystal. They see the brand glowing the closer Ardyn reluctantly inches toward the Crystal and Regis’s stomach drops a little. He doesn’t make Ardyn go closer, and Ardyn is relieved to stop just on the edge of the effect, where it ... lights more than just the brand. The Brand is the only one that has a noticeable blue tint even in normal lighting, but this close older things, things the scourge mostly sealed up and ate away the glow of, start to shine too. The Final Problem Sherlolly-Meta

This Meta will be very unpopular among my fellow Sherlollians, because I don't think that at the end of The Final Problem Sherlolly is canon, or going to be happy-ever-after-endgame-canon. And not only because I like it so much more when it hurts, but because Sherlocks line in the Lying Detective made me uneasy as hell: “Molly, you seem very stressed” and then this intense stare as if he was about to deduce something but couldn't because he was way too high at that moment.

So let's get started!

When Sherlock is analyzing the coffin he deduces so many details, a small woman, practical about death and not as close to her relatives as a family should be. I didn't get spoiled in any way beforehand and I knew this instant that the woman who the coffin was for could only be Molly. My friend, with whom I watched the episode was shaking her head and asked me incredulously why I would assume that, after the last two “cases” Sherlock, John and Mycroft had to go through were not personal. And I told her then: Molly's sick, she's going to die.

The bombs Eurus claimed were in Mollys flat took me off guard, that much I have to admit, but in the end she said: “Why would I be so clumsy.” Later on more.

As much as I love all the other metas and fiction about Sherlock realizing the instant he told Molly that he loved her the first time so that he indeed /knew/ that he really loved her so he repeated himself, I think he concluded also something else entirely: Molly's suffering.

He had tree minutes to see her, really see her, when she felt unwatched, because she didn't know that there were cameras around her house. His whole attention was focussed on her, and not when he was high, or when she was with Rosie, or grieving about Mary, this was Molly, alone. When no one was around her who could actually see her.

It reminded me so much of her words from TRF: her father was always cheerful when he was dying, he was lovely, when no one could see him, but once she saw him, when he thought no one could see him, and he looked sad.

She was sad. She had a bad day she told him, didn't want to talk to Sherlock in the first place and only after he told her that he needed help, she pulled herself together: If he needed her, than she would be strong – as always.

Or so she thought.

He asked her something so outrageous intimate which he knew would hurt her deeply and did it anyway for a case.

And I think Molly thought in that exact moment that nothing has changed after faking his death for him. That Sherlock would always see her as someone who he could always manipulate if he just made words like “So if it's true, say it anyway” sound so sincere; he would never, ever understand what he did to her or how she was feeling. The things she accomplished in their platonic relationship with him weren't as important for him, as for her, she thought.

If she knew she would die in the foreseeable future, and she meant so little to Sherlock that he had to manipulate her again, after all they've been trough, she could at least gain something as cruel from him, what she knew Sherlock had problems to articulate because he didn't /do/ sentimental things.

If he would say it, like he meant it, he would always remember Molly Hooper, the woman who made him say I Love You. If he wouldn't say it, he would always remember her as someone who stood up to him and didn't let herself get tossed around anymore.

So she got nothing to loose.

After she asked him to say it first Sherlock blinked multiple times and then he made a frown, as if he was deducing something and /then/ comprehending her words.

4. knowing that she deserved a proper declaration of love for everything she did for him

I don't know if point 4/5 is exclusively an acknowledgment of her services, and by god, I want it really be so much more than just that, but I am not sure – because Benedict as well as Louise played their roles so... ambivalently well*.

So, after Molly said her fragile (one evidence more for her being fatally ill) I love you, Sherlock presses his palms to his eyes to “unsee” what he had deduced by staring at Molly for full three minutes. As if he doesn't want to believe that she is going to die and has to distract himself by wanting to solve the case of the girl on the plane.

But of course Eurus doesn't play fair and humiliates Sherlock even more by telling him, that he hurt Molly and himself for nothing: “Do be sensible, there were no explosives in her little house. Why would I be so clumsy. […] All those complicated little emotions.”

Which is for me the biggest indicator, that Molly is going to die. Eurus wanted to break Sherlock, not kill him, but destroy him. So she knew there would be no point in planing Molly's death, because it is inevitable. She is so, so clever!

If this scene would only be Sherlock realizing that he is capable of loving someone, that he is loving Molly Hooper, then Eurus wouldn't have spoken from “ALL” and “LITTLE” Emotions. Love is one emotion, and everything but little.

Sherlock doesn't only feel love; he feels relief for saving Molly, feels shame for putting her through this ordeal, grief, anger, loss and most of all self-hatred. At this very Moment he feels everything; every “little emotion” is smashing down on him, because even when everything will be fine in the end, he will never have back the ability to not feel at all.

He will nevermore be capable of feeling nothing, and that is something so beautiful, raw and unique, I've never seen on any TV-show. That a character which we met in the first episode who feels nothing but euphoria when solving crimes feels at the end of the series everything. That is really something to be amazed by.

Which brings me back to Sherlock and the casket scene.

He wanted to be so calm and unapproachable when he closed the coffin. And of course it could be that he only couldn't bear the thought that it was a coffin for Molly and that's why he had to destroy it.

But I think it's also a metaphor for lost opportunities:

Closing the coffin first, is like trying to lock up all those emotions, he feels. Trying to be calm and reasonable, that whatever happens, life goes on. And then he sees the brass plate again I Love You. Simple words, that without emotion are meaningless. He knows he has this emotion, for his friend and his daughter, for his family, for Molly!

But only one person would be forever locked in this casket: Molly.

It wouldn't matter, if he would ever have the opportunity to say sorry to her, to say her what she means to him, to tell her that indeed John was the one who showed him emotions, but she was the one who set them free – because nothing would ever hurt him as much, as knowing, that he didn't /see/ her, when she was sad, because she was dying!

imho destroying the coffin was Sherlocks way of not believing what he knew was true: Molly was going to die, and everything he did wouldn't be enough to help her survive, not even his emotions (love?) for her.

He had to smash the coffin in silly hope of preventing Molly Hooper from death!

Sooo... and if you ask: What? But Molly was beaming, when she came to Baker Street at the end of the episode. I can only tell you this:

“When she was dying, she was always cheerful, she was lovely...”

This got longer then actually intended, but I hope my Meta is as value as all the other ones out there and you enjoyed at least the dark and angsty side of Sherlock finding and loosing love in the same instant.

10 Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me About Breastfeeding

You don’t always hear people say how hard it is to breastfeed. But it is. It's hard. Those first few weeks or even months can be a battle, and it seems like no one wants to tell us because they think they’ll scare us away. I think they underestimate us, and I think the denial of the challenges of breastfeeding are the real problem. If you bring your baby into the world thinking nursing is going to be dreamy and easy, and you’re met with reality at 3AM when you’ve had about five hours of sleep the entire week…well, it’s a shock. Now my baby is eight months old, and for the most part breastfeeding is pretty easy these days, but we had a rough start, as many others do. So here are ten things I wish someone had told me about breastfeeding, BEFORE I had my baby.

Your nipples are going to hurt. It drives me crazy when LCs are always spouting off how breastfeeding isn’t supposed to hurt, and if it is, you’re doing it wrong. Well, I’m here to tell you that you can do everything right, and it will still hurt. The absolute best things I have found to combat nipple pain is 100% pure lanolin, Earth Mama Angel Baby Natural Nipple Butter (I alternate the two), Medela’s gel soothies, and a properly fitting bra. I would encourage you to buy some bras that fit you as soon as your milk comes in, and once your supply settles, go back and buy a couple more that fit. Your breast size will change, and you may even lose quite a bit of weight in the first month. I went from a 36F to a 32DD after my supply settled, at around 6 weeks postpartum.

You don’t have to switch sides at every feeding. This is another misconception that seems to be pretty widespread. Try nursing on one side until your baby is satisfied, and he/she will unlatch, and then switch. If your baby doesn’t unlatch, don’t unlatch them. The only time I would unlatch baby is when he was in a deep sleep and I wanted to lay him down in his bed. If you switch sides too often, you may witness a frothy green poo in baby’s diapers, which may mean he/she is getting too much foremilk. If you let baby completely finish one side before switching to the other, baby will get the fattier hindmilk.

Your baby may want to nurse. All. Day. And that’s NORMAL. There will be days or even weeks where you seem to be glued to your couch with a baby on your boob. It’s normal. Keep in mind that your tiny human is brand new to this world, and you, Mommy, are your baby’s greatest source of comfort. You have a life that is solely dependent upon you for survival, and it is human instinct to want to be close to mommy. You are protector, giver of love, you smell amazing, and you keep baby’s belly full. So what if you let a few chores go? In a few months your newborn will sit up, crawl, walk, run, talk, sleep in his/her own bed, go off to college…etc. In a few short months you will look back at pictures of your tiny baby and miss every moment. When you’re old, you will never remember what chores didn’t get done. You will remember rocking your baby to sleep.

Your milk supply is fine. As long as your baby is wetting enough diapers and gaining weight, your supply is fine. Your baby may nurse all day and all night. Your baby may fuss and cry more often. He/she may fuss and cry every day from 5-8PM. Your baby may not poop for five days. Your baby may spit up what seems like truckloads of milk. Your baby may begin to nurse and suddenly pull off and fuss or cry. You may be pumping and suddenly find that you’ve only pumped four ounces instead of six. You may not be able to get anything to come out with a breast pump. But none of that means that you have low milk supply.

Your baby probably won’t sleep through the night any time soon. You may get lucky and have a baby that sleeps all night right away, and that’s great. The rest of us are insanely jealous. That is, until the four month sleep regression rolls around. But breastfed babies digest milk more quickly than formula fed babies, and therefore they get hungry more often. Including at night. My oldest son began sleeping through the night a few nights a week at five months old, and my youngest began sleeping all night at seven months old, but every now and then he will wake up at 5AM. My good friend’s two year just recently began sleeping through the night. All of this is normal, and it’s the reality of having a baby. You will get less sleep. Life will change. But it’s just a short time in your child’s life. It will pass.

Breastfed babies are difficult to get on a “schedule." This will drive some of you crazy, but you’ve got to let it go. I have attempted twice to put an exclusively breastfed infant on one of these infamous feeding schedules, and found it to be impossible. Sometimes my baby slept for two hours, sometimes for forty-five minutes. Sometimes he wanted to eat every thirty minutes, or not for three hours. He was impossible to predict. I gave up. But again, this is the reality of having a baby. You cannot fit your child into your old schedule. Your child now dictates your schedule. Society seems to hold disdain for letting your baby decide when he or she wants to eat, but for crying out loud, they're babies. They cannot lie or manipulate you. They are hungry when they’re hungry. Trying to schedule when they eat and sleep is just going to give you a headache. As baby gets older, you may notice a pattern of eating and sleeping. At one month old I established a bedtime routine for my kids, and at six months I put them on a "schedule” that suited their needs. But ultimately they decided what that schedule would look like.

Don’t compare your breastfed baby to formula fed babies. Try not to compare your child to other children in any case, but I know it’s difficult. However, comparing your breastfed baby to formula fed babies is impossible. They have different growth patterns and feeding habits. Formula takes longer for a baby to digest than breast milk, and formula fed babies are often on “schedules” of eating every 3-4 hours. But newborn breastfed infants will likely want to nurse more often than this, for hunger or comfort or anything else.

Studies show that breastfed babies cry or are more irritable than formula fed babies. This too is normal. This crying and fussiness is not a sign of distress or hunger. Researchers believe that this is just a normal part of babyhood, and that babies fed formula cry less because they are not allowed to feel hunger or are overfed. A breastfed baby that cries may just want mommy for comfort. This is normal. Research shows that babies need your comfort and love, and they need to be close to you. Understand that your baby may cry more, but breast milk is still, and always will be, the best possible nutrition for your child.

Don’t be afraid to nurse in public. I felt very anxious and self conscious about nursing my first child in public places. I always went to a private room or hid behind something, and of course covered with blankets and capes. I still use a cover, but I will never breastfeed in a bathroom again. You shouldn’t either. Your baby deserves to eat wherever, whenever, just like a bottle fed baby. There’s no shame or embarrassment in that. Except in rare cases, no one else is really paying attention to what you’re doing anyway. If anyone does have a rude comment, don’t let that deter you. The more we nurse in public, the more people will become familiar with it, and the more it will become normal.

Breastfeeding is more than just feeding your baby. You’re providing comfort, pain relief, reassurance, stress relief, social interaction, visual development, nurturing, protection during illness, and reducing the risk of SIDS. Breastfeeding increases the release of oxytocin in both you and baby. You reduce your risk of breast cancer, and your child may enjoy lower blood pressure and healthier arteries throughout life. And once you get past these difficult first weeks, breastfeeding is a breeze. It really is dreamy and easy. Fewer dishes, fewer things to remember to pack in your diaper bag, fewer hassles in the middle of the night. And an immense amount of benefits for your child, for life.

I hope this list didn’t scare you away, like some of the experts seem to think. The reality is that having a baby isn’t easy, and breastfeeding can be difficult at first, especially when you don’t have adequate support. I had no idea what challenges I would face when I began, but I also never knew the real benefits I was providing until much later, and something other than “breast is best” would’ve been more encouraging. But everything here is the honest truth, from a mom of two, and I wish you the best on your breastfeeding journey.

During Geronimo's final period of conflict from 1876 to 1886, he "surrendered" three times and accepted life on the Apache reservations in Arizona. Reservation life was confining to the free-moving Apache people, and they resented restrictions on their customary way of life. H.L. Hunley or Hunley made her only attack against an enemy target on the night of February 17, 1864. The target was the USS Housatonic, a 1,240 long tons (1,260 t) wooden-hulled steam-powered sloop-of-war with 12 large cannons, which was stationed at the entrance to Charleston, about 5 miles (8.0 kilometres) offshore. Desperate to break the naval blockade of the city, Lieutenant George E. Dixon and a crew of seven volunteers successfully attacked Housatonic, ramming Hunley's only spar torpedo against the enemy's hull. The torpedo was detonated, sending Housatonic to the bottom in five minutes, along with five of her crewmen.
