#but if you're *gonna* go down that route then PLEASE don't rush it- we don't need to refer to their meeting as a “meet cute” PLEASE

I'm not even upset that Vanessa and Mike are in love or whatever- I'm really just upset that they're rushing into it
Vanessa refers to their meeting as a "meet cute" and Mike tries to kiss her mid-trauma dump- like is that??? Really necessary????
Can we not wait until they know each other a bit better????? Have some nice character moments outside of their traumatic experiences at Freddy's?????????? Please???????????????
I'm just so sick of romance being rushed, can we PLEASE get some nice character moments before we start having the protagonists fall in love I'm BEGGING

Can I request 27. "I'm going to carry you, okay?" with an angsty dash of 5. "You don't have anything to be sorry for." please?
You shouldn't have been out.
You should have never left your apartment, especially not in the middle of the night, especially when Jason didn't know you left, but you just wanted to go on a short walk, but one wrong turn turned your short walk into a very long one.
You could hear a few things: the beating of your heart, the sound of your feet hitting the ground as you ran, the sound of their feet running after you, shouting from behind you.
"Get your ass back here or I swear to God, we're gonna fucking kill you!"
Fuck. You just had to go on a walk to clear your head. You just had to get lost. You just had to forget your phone. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
You were running so hard you could barely breathe. You were faster than them, but not by much, and you couldn't keep it up. You were terrified, shaking, slightly crying. You tried screaming, but no one came. You were lost, alone, scared, and being chased. You wished more than anything that you never left your apartment. You wished you just called Jason to calm down, but you didnt want to bother him. Regret. Regret. Regret.
You've basically run in one big circle, trying to get anywhere near your apartment, but you were so lost. That street sign, though was familiar, but more than that you had passed it before; something else.
Oh.
Oh no.
You knew the name on that street sign because Jason was telling you about it earlier
...in reference to a trafficking case.
Your heart sank. Their footfalls match the erratic beating of your heart. You were tired. You couldn't keep this up forever and they knew the territory. It seemed you were at every disadvantage.
You turned a corner. You had this one chance to lose them. You use all of your remaining energy to run into the gap between the closed down corner store and apartment complex,
and promptly trip on the uneven concrete. Yeah, you pulled something.
And with your absolutely stellar luck, you picked the one alley that was a dead end.
"Fucking finally. Nowhere to run now. I think we should take our time with this one. She made us waste all that time chasing her, what's a little more?"
You open your mouth to beg for your life, but the words won't come out. You try to get up but you collapse again. You use your good leg to move yourself against the wall.
The three men laugh as they slowly approach you, taunting you. They smile and joke at the tears you didn’t notice were falling. You try to think of any possible escape route, but come up empty. One pulls out a gun and you try not to look at it.
"You really thought you could just run away, huh?"
"You can scream as loud as you want. No one is coming."
The third man laughs. "Don't say that. The screaming is fucking annoying."
They get closer to you and you feel the sweat trickle from your hairline.
Everyone's heads turn when there's a loud thud outside the alley.
You aren't exactly focused on it, but it makes them temporarily stop, so you're thankful for it.
"Marcus, go check it out."
"Fuck you. Why do I have to it?"
"Be louder, why don’t you? Quit being a bitch and go."
'Marcus' leaves with a string of curses. The attention is turned back to you again, with impatient smiles and twisted laughter, but not for long.
They make it about two more steps before Marcus yells and there's a crunch and thud.
The two men stop dead in their tracks. Communicating as if with eye contact, one nods, and the other begins to walk slowly along the wall of the alley with his gun raised until he turns the corner. While the first man tries to split his attention between you and his friend, his friend screams.
The last man turns towards you. He rushes forward in an attempt to grab your arm, presumably to drag you, but he never gets that chance.
There is a loud thunk to the back of the man's head before he's on the floor. You look up and see a red helmet.
You don’t think you've ever been happier to see that shiny red.
"Hey, it's ok. It's just me. I wasn't gonna let anything happen to you, I promise. You're safe now."
You try to say his name as he rushes over to you but it comes out as more of a pathetic and terrified whimper.
"Are you hurt?"
You nod your head and watch him freeze.
"Where?"
You drag your leg out from underneath you. He sighs in relief. His shoulders hunch forward, his forehead knocking against yours. He lands a helmet kiss there.
"C'mon. Let's get you home. I'm going to carry you, okay?"
Before you could even think about attempting to reply, he has you scooped up in his arms. He takes a deep breath in and out and locks eyes with you.
"You ok?"
"no fatal injuries"
He hums in acknowledgement. The walk is quiet. Too quiet. You don’t remember most of the walk. The adrenaline wearing off was making you tired, but Jason's silence concerned you. You shouldn't have gone out alone, it was dumb, but you couldn't handle a fight with Jason right now. That's probably why he was being quiet, he’s mad at you, but knows you don’t wanna fight. He was being so sweet, but to be honest all you wanted was comfort. You can't take him being distant right now.
Fuck it. You can't take it anymore.
"I'm sorry."
He stops on the outside of you apartment complex's elevator, moving to look at you.
You open your mouth to speak again but he cuts you off. "You don't have anything to be sorry for."
"Aren't you mad?"
"I could never be mad at you."
"But you're being all silent."
"I thought you'd want space. Do you not?"
"...no... I want comfort..."
"Alright. And I'm not mad at you. Never mad at you. That wasn't your fault, ok? I was brooding just now because I was scared at the thought of losing you. I love you. So much."
"I love you too."

Angel
What happens when you combine the Heather's song with Poppy Playtime? This apparently.
(Warning for yandere like content, mentioning of death.)
@lavenderdropp
Tumblr media
Black heels clicked on the hard floors as she ran.Her lungs burnt, her throat dried up, and her body ached...But, still she ran. Down this hallway. Down that way. Left. Right.Straight forward. she lost track of where she went. She was dead lost. It didn't matter though. As long as she escaped those horrible monsters.
"ANGEL?!
She froze.
It was him. Somehow he managed to figure out which way she went.
"ANGEL, COME BACK!", He shouted closer.
She ran. She couldn't believe the situation she was in. From the day he was made, when she was first introduced to them, she knew something about him was off, but non the less they became close. Very close. But after awhile, he started acting....strangely. If he wasn't with the others he was with her. Whether it was giving her acting advice, dance lessons, or just plain talking. And he started acting more affectionate. It started with small pats on the back to playful hugs and kissing her hand, to playful flirts and blushes..until finally his confession and gosh did he look so nervous when he told her that he.
That he loved her.
She wasn't that shocked though. He made it pretty obvious from the way he was acting and so...it was. His angel. So kind until the factory during its hour of joy.
"Angel. You're...alive?,"he had said to her. Trembling so much he might've melted.
"You!" His focus soon turned to everyone else. Sharp teeth replacing his smile. "You...You lied to me! You said she died! I'm gonna kill you for what you did!"
She could still hear Henry's last words to her."Alice, run! Hide! Go! And don't look back! Run! Run!"
And that's exactly what she did.
"ALICE!"
She was starting to question things in her head. What did they do? What happened the others? What really happened to the children? Why was Dogday like this? Was he gonna hurt her? Would she ever escape this madness? She stopped, breathing heavily. Eyes scanning for a hiding place, escape route, anything. Spotting an open door, she rushed in and quietly closed and locked the door. Panting like a dog, she leaned against the door and fell to her knees. She felt like crying, but remained silent with the exception of her soft breaths. A few minutes of silence went by. No sounds except for her breaths and the natural sounds of the creaking building and storm outside. No signs of anyone.
She sighed and leaned back in a moment of relief. Then began wondering what to do next. Should she try to find someone?...No. They caused all this, and was most likely dead. She could try talking to him, but she was just too terrified. She decided that the best thing to do was to climb out the nearest window. There's no windows here. But she recognized this room and knew the one next to it did. It seemed simple enough. Just quietly sneak into the sneak room, barricade the door, then jump out the window and RUN like crazy. The only problem was that a possibly mad, creature was looking for her and probably wouldn't like the idea of her trying to leave. But her other options were to just hide here until starvation killed her or Dogday found her. And neither of those were appealing.
She was about to get up, when she heard a voice. "Angel...Are you here?"
Her hands flew up to her mouth. She couldn't move. How could she not have heard him coming? Soft footsteps kept coming down the hallway. Her heart sped up and she could feel it in her throat. They stopped in front of the door and her stomach dropped. She felt him gently try to open the door, and shook it a bit. He then kicked the door, causing a terrified squeak to escape her throat.
"Angel," he said sounding pleased and relieved.
She mentally hit herself for that.
"All is forgiven,Baby! Come on out! You're my dance partner to the apocalypse tonight!,"he said in his old voice. The one she loved.
"They chucked us out like we were trash. For that they are all dead."
A hand flew up to her mouth in utter horror.Tears on the edge of falling. He killed them?
"And our careers gone in a flash! We've always been mislead. Those liers were the key. They were keeping you away from me."
Maybe for a good reason, she thought.
"They all lied. They said you died."
I wonder what else they told him?
"BUT NOW YOU'RE HERE WITH ME!!"
Which is scary!!!
"You left me and.....I fell apart. I punched the wall and cried."
She felt like crying herself. He then proceeded to ram into the door a total of six times. Each time she thought the door was gonna break and let him in. It didn't thankfully, but she had to throw her hands over her ears to keep out the noise.
"But then I got smart and figured out they had Lied!,"he shouted panting from the physical effort,"And so I killed them all! Let their final curtain fall! I personally made them see.....IT'S ALL THEIR FAULT!"
She couldn't hold back the tears anymore. She let them flow. Her hands flew up to her ears, trying to block out his voice. But no matter how hard she tried, his voice pierced through like the sharpest knife.
"I was made to be yours. We were created as one. Don't hold back on me now. Finish what we've begun. You were made to be mine designed to be perfect to me."
She was made for him? She was paid to interact with him to help him. Guess she did something wrong.
"He doesn't deserve to survive! Abandoned us in our time of need."
That's not true. Well....not entirely. He tried to help her. Spare her from this madness. Didn't he?
"ANGEL. Open the door please,"he begged.
She didn't budge.
"ANGEL, OPEN THE DOOR!"
She could hear him splinter one of the wooden door boards. Terrified, she backed away from the door.
"Angel, can we not fight anymore, please? Can we not fight anymore?"
They were fighting? Itwas more of a predator/prey situation if you asked her. The door was forced apart and DogDay's hands could be seen trying to part it. The door creaked and strained.
"Angel, I just got you back so....please don't make me go."
Cracks began to show on the door.
"Angel, can'tcha come out now?"
Finally the door gave away. Letting the monster in.
"It's time to start the show."
The world turned fuzzy and dark. She thought she heard herself shriek, but she couldn't tell. The last thing she heard before blacking out was his voice....
"My Sweet Angel."

PROMPTS FROM CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION *  assorted dialogue from season 1 of the show, adjust as necessary
you want to be different? pin me up against a wall; lay one on me like you mean it.
it could be four minutes. could be four days.
if you stay, with my right hand to god, you will never regret it.
i need you to roll up your sleeve and give me a pint of your blood.
how do you know all this crap?
it's our job to know stuff.
there are other ways to tell, you know.
i'm a scientist. i like to see it.
you're standing in my crime scene.
people leave us clues. they speak to us in thousands of different ways. it's our job to make sure we've tried to hear every single thing they've said.
stop flirting with me.
i can't believe i used to live in a place like this.
and here i had all this respect for you.
i come here for calamari.
well... that's good news.
no way. use your own hand.
you just compromised our investigation.
i guess you just have to be on the wrong end of an affair to understand.
look... could we have a truce?
blood's like my grandfather. never lies.
are you hitting on me, david?
you may not like where it takes you.
i think our killer was counting on that.
maybe i saw you perform.
what do you got for me? i could use a rush.
you don't owe me anything.
wow. you look so... normal.
when are we going to talk about what happened?
you'll have to excuse me.
somebody left a message. i need to see the rest of it.
you guys will never get it, will you?
you know, you can joke all you want. it's your ass on the line.
life's like holding a dove. you hold it too hard, you kill it. hold it too soft, and it'll fly away.
you look a little tired.
something very wrong happened in this plane.
now you want to go down that route?
please tell me you have something.
it took five people to kill him. it would have only taken one person to save his life.
you have empathy for her. you want someone to pay for what was done to her. that's normal.
you want to sleep with me?
how do you know about that already?
whoa. somebody likes their job.
hey! this has nothing to do with you!
why is it every time we meet you're wanting me to take my clothes off?
you weren't in your office.
you don't have a worry that technology is gonna make us obsolete?
next time, why don't you try talking to me instead of going around behind my back?
what the hell are you doing?
i don't know whether i'll help you or not.
i don't mean to stare.
am i disturbing you?
what are you so afraid of?
you could be a little more supportive.
you just love that, don't you?
i would never doubt your word.
how a person does one thing is how a person does everything.
so are you thinking what i'm thinking?
someone's bitter.
you're awake. i hate you.
i slept like a baby yesterday.
do you need a hand with that?
are you looking for work?
you can't read anymore?
i can't drink any more coffee. my body clock is so screwed up.
what do you drive?
how much do you make so you can take care of me?
caught in the act.
every day we meet people on the worst day of their lives.
i wish i were like you. i wish i didn't feel anything.
what do you do for fun?

Ooo omg I had an idea come to me while at work (lol)-
It’s a Tangerine x fem!civilian!reader where it’s inspired by Beauty and the Beast. So maybe Y/n’s not so great boyfriend screwed the twins over a lot of money, and won’t pay it back, so the Twins go after him. They’re going through the dude’s house and Y/n happens to walk in the front door while they’re sneaking around the house. Their plan kinda takes a sharp turn when they abruptly (and somewhat accidentally) turn it into a ransom sort of situation… But like, they really don’t usually involve innocent people, so they’re kinda fumbling about it, and also being uncharacteristically (for abductors) sweet and gentlemenly (while poor Y/n is terrified and honestly has no clue what’s happening). Like they’re constantly asking if she needs water, if she wants a snack, if she needs extra blankets extra pillows, etc… It’s honestly like she’s being doted on☠️ Anyways, Tangerine and Y/n bond over him and Lem’s huge library, and they do catch feelings for each other. Tan, feeling really bad, let’s Y/n go even though her bad bf still hasn’t payed them back… A few months later, Y/n finds herself knocking on Tan and Lem’s door being she missed them and she has feelings for Tan🥺 Y/n throwing herself into Tan’s arms the second he opens the door🤧
hii angel!! im so sorry this has taken so long, idk why but I really struggled to write this😭 been doing it for weeks and couldn’t get it write, not even sure if I like it now. but thank you for you patience and forever good ideas. thank you for requesting, hope you like it💌

After a long day, there was only one thing you wanted, and that was to flop onto the sofa and forget about your shitty day. Twisting the key in the front door, you make a beeline straight to the couch, immediately slumping into the soft cushions as you kick off your shoes.
You hear a couple of unexpected scruffles from the room above you that instantly catches your attention. You knew you weren't hearing things because the sounds were clear as day, two sets of what seemed to be masculine footsteps pacing in your bedroom.
You wanted to call for help, but when you saw your bag and phone on the stairs, you knew you couldn't retrieve it without alerting the intruders upstairs. Slowly sitting up, you glance around the room for possible weapons you could use to protect yourself with. Your eyes land on the fire iron beside the fireplace, so you steadily make your way over, crawling quietly along the floor.
You reach for the fire poker with unsteady fingers, hands practically shaking as they snake around the handle, pulling it from the hook. All the fear makes itself known when you accidentally hit another tool, clattering and echoing as it falls to the floor. Your eyes bug in panic, extending the makeshift weapon towards the stairs as you cower behind it.
"Who's down there?" one of the voices shouts.
"I swear to fuck, if it's that knob, I tell ya..." the other says, loud enough for you to hear.
Within a few seconds, there's a stampede of footsteps as they rush down the stairs.
"You're not--?" the moustached man says, looking perplexed as he turns to his partner.
"What the fuck-" the other says, staring at you in confusion.
"Please, I don't want any trouble," you offer, dropping the tool, showing your palms as if to show your innocence. "Just take what you want,"
"Don't worry-- we uh-- we ain't gonna rob ya," the first man says, slowly making his way over with his hands in the air.
"We're just looking for someone. You ain't seen him by any chance?"
"No, no, I don't know-" you stammer, your frightened eyes glancing around the room for escape routes.
"Here," one of the Englishmen says, slipping his hand into his pocket. He eases you with a smile when he sees you flinch. "It's just a phone. It's okay. We ain't gonna hurt ya," he turns to screen to you, slowly making his way over so as not to startle you further. "We're after him, he uh-- he owes us a tidy sum of money,"
Staring at the picture, your eyes bug.
"What's that face? You know him?" the other asks, watching your expressions from across the room. He snaps his fingers when he sees your face turn blank, looking like you're stuck in thought.
"Um... yeah, but please don't hurt me. I had no idea. How much? How much money?" you meekly ask, avoiding their gaze.
"Five hundred,"
"Can I just pay you? Then-- then it can all be over?"
"... thousand," the other adds.
"Fuck..." you mumble, frustratedly running your fingers through your hair. "I don't-- I don't know what to do,"
"You know where we can find him?"
"No, he... doesn't tell me. He leaves randomly... for weeks at a time. He... he just disappears,"
"Does he live here?"
"No, this is my place. He just stays here sometimes,"
The moustached man turns back to his partner. Whispering. "What a dick," he faces you again before pulling his friend to the side. "We'll be right back,"
You couldn't hear much of their conversation with your heartbeat thumping in your ears, but by the looks on their faces, they were at a loss, confused even, like they didn't know what to do with you.
They return shortly after with wry grins, awkwardly making their way over to you. "We ain't gotta scooby what to do," one of them says, chuckling. "Do-do you want anything to eat? You hungry? Thirsty?"
You shake your head no, sitting back on the sofa with your head in hands.
"We can order some food? Our treat?"
"No, thanks," you say, your tone still wary.
"We can't keep her, mate. It ain't fair," the moustached man quietly says, occasionally glancing at you.
"The money, bruv. He's gonna turn up," the other bribes, smacking his friend on the chest.
"Mate... look at her. She's scared shitless. We should just let her go," he sighs.
"Dude... catching feelings or some shit?"
"No," he instantly blurts out, avoiding your gaze. "We... we don't know where that twat is. I'm tired. I'm bored, hungry, and fed up. Let's just go," he persuades, nudging his friend along.
"Alright, fine, you stay here, imma go call about," he sighs, walking out of the room.
The seemingly friendly moustached man makes his way over to you, crouching in front of you. His features are soft and gentle. "Hey," he says, his tone tender. "We're really sorry you got caught up in this shitshow, y'know? It weren't meant to be like this," he says, speaking with sincerity.
"It's alright," you nod, meeting his gaze. "Was bound to happen sometime," you chuckle, making a poor attempt at a joke. "The dudes a... the dudes a waste of space," sighing, momentarily averting from his focused gaze.
"Yeah..." he softly chuckles, placing a warm hand on your knee to stop your jittering leg. "You don't need to be afraid. We ain't gonna hurt ya," he softly smiles, tapping your leg. "We're gonna head off. Again, we're really sorry for all this,"
"Wait, I didn't get your name," you say, glancing up to look at him.
"Call me Tangerine," he sheepishly grins, slightly groaning as he stands. "Despite the shitty circumstance, it was nice to meet you," he chuckles, awkwardly scratching his neck as he walks away.
You turn around, your gaze following him. "It was nice to meet you, Tangerine," you smile.
-
Ever since the 'robbery' a few months back, there has only been one persistent thought in your brain, and it was Tangerine. Even though you met the way you did, you couldn't help how regularly you thought of him, how you'd find yourself wondering how he was doing, what he was up to or where he was.
Since then, you've been on a mission to find your way back to him, doing everything you could to see him again. Some may think it's insane, and maybe you did too, but you honestly did not care. You desperately wanted to see him again, and you hoped he felt the same way.
You were starting to lose hope, slowly but surely running out of faith, but then you see the back of a person, a man who has been in your mind for the last four months.
You felt your chest tighten and heart thump as you watch the man cross the road in front of you. You immediately pull onto the curb, turn off the engine and jump out of your car. Running through the amber light, you chase after him. As embarrassing as it felt, you weren't sure you cared enough.
"Tangerine?" you pant, finally catching up to him.
"What- oh my god. It's you?" he grins.
You didn't even need to think. You instantly wrap your arms around him, tightly hugging him. "Hi," you say, your words muffle into his chest. "Sorry," you smile, pulling away, looking awkward.
"No, no, don't be," he widely smiles. "I didn't think I'd see you again,"
"Me neither," you grin with your hand on your chest to subdue your heavy breathing.
"You uh- got time for a drink?" he asks, gazing at you.

continuing the 'gunter is a obfuscating snake of a sleezeball in the married conquest route and i'm kinda into it' thought: one line that bothered me for a while was in his JP S-support; it's basically his confession line:
Gunther: A promise is a promise. Please answer the question. Kamui: Y-yeah, all right… I don’t have anyone like that… Gunther: I see. Then, what about someone like me? Kamui: W-what? Gunther: You are the only woman that I have loved.
[record scratch] here's the fun thing:
that is a straight up lie.
what about your dead wife gunter? the one you spent twenty-thirty years plotting revenge for and was the literal reason you got possessed by? (kronk voice) that wife? :P
there's a few plausible reasonings for this discrepancy: one, it's not the character, somebody at nintendo straight up didn't play revelation. fates was rushed, it's entirely possible that some S-supports were not double-checked for facts when iirc the routes were being done by separate teams. (1b: technically you could argue 'maybe he didn't actually love her lol' which is darkly hysterical, but that feels so wildly out of character to the whole 'plotting revenge for 20 years' shtick that i'm tossing that out). and then two: nintendo itself fully intended gunter to be lying to corrin.
and i think it's that second reasoning.
which is interesting b/c nintendo almost always falls on the line of warping characters to be lovestruck waifus/husbandos that worship you/corrin even if it starts to bend/break their characterization. why keep his sharp, murky edges of all characters? I genuinely don't think i've ever seen nintendo go as far as have a character baldly lie to you the player so boldly especially when it comes to the main love confession---nintendo doesn't really mix the 'cold blooded emotional manipulation' with the waifuism.
now ... I do think he genuinely loves corrin [gestures @ my whole revelation loveblog]. different topic, that, but both can co-exist, since i think gunter doubling down on the 'you're the only one :)' shtick is him being so petrified at how many questions will be asked about his past, especially in conquest.
don't forget in conquest, corrin (thinks) and is truly considered to be garon's daughter.
you know. the dude that killed his wife he swore revenge on.
awkward, my dude, to fall in love with garon's daughter, lul.
and yet - gunter's trying to balance 'we genuinely love each other, let's start with a clean slate' with 'she's gonna start asking shit i don't want to get into if i do try to be honest ... nope nope nope not gonna go there'. he's a bit of a coward there, but in some ways i can't blame him. there's a lot of hints that point to him being painfully lonely as a closet widow, and the idea of ruining this tender new love with a lot of painful shit in his past is a risk he just kinda... sidesteps.... and keeps sidestepping........... until it's just too awful to even bring up to begin with.
it's a very human flaw.
but even still on the other hand, i think it says a lot of darkly nuanced things that he has no qualms not even just not telling corrin shit, his spouse in conquest, but actively lying to her about his past and doubling down on that secret.
honestly in another metatextual level, it's kind of fridge brilliance for setting up how, mmmm long-term emotionally manipulative he can be, that's only really shown in revelation ('i've been using you all along'). you also see glimmers of it with corrin's A-support with silas with the literal gaslighting corrin to forget about silas; so this isn't a one-off moment.
gunter is a fucking fantastic snake of an actor.
and lastly on another level, ultimately i think that line is actually one of those that explains some people's terrible reading comprehension of gunter. don't forget that Fate's EN fan-translation scene that first year was huge, far bigger than any other FE game, and so a lot of fandoms/people's opinions were shaped by osmosis from the JP script versus the EN script. I could totally see people taking that implication he's never been married at face value and genuinely being confused as to his actual backstory if they've never played revelation. basically everything about his character is all misdirections right down to playing players like a fiddle with his assumed archetype (jeigan, wholesome dad), and the abyss between what he says and what he is.
tl;dr more sleazeball midlife crisis jeigans plz 🙏

After a dismal failure of a performance, CIRCUS discovers that Tifalia might be able to help them and recruit her to act as producer for their dysfunctional troupe.
Will they master the ring? Or just be mediocre?
A crazy dragon who’s more silly than scary, a prickly clown who won’t make you laugh, a mysterious conductor who doesn’t want to use water magic, an acrobat who doesn’t know how to entertain, a drunkard fur ball, an unmotivated leader, and an amateur producer who just joined.
Can you help this dysfunctional troupe create their greatest performance?
(Spoiler Free) Luna's Thoughts:
I have so much praise for this game. It really delivers on what it promises at the beginning: a colorful, fun adventure with a circus theme throughout. Not to mention the Mucha-themed user interface is gorgeous.
They need to give the editors and translators for this game a raise. Not only is the editing accurate and excellent, but the localization of dialogue (particularly with Radie) is really skillfully done. This was the first otome game I've played in a while that didn't have a lot of awkwardly-phrased sentences. It really felt like the editing team cared and was trying their best throughout.
The cast of characters is colorful and varied, and I love the characterization of the main character as someone who goes through her own unique arc in each route. Often otoge protagonists are just fill-ins for the player, but Tifalia is actually allowed to have her own thoughts, feelings and interests. Her biggest flaw is that her name is, unfortunately, Tifalia.
(I know you can rename the protag, but I like to hear them say the name, so I always keep the default name lol.)
She does lack the typical protagonist top-of-eye shinies, which makes her look a little unemotional in some CGs.
Another thing I enjoyed was how the common route changes a little based on which characters you spend time with. Ultimately the same things happen, but the way you're introduced to certain elements changes. That was a nice little bit of flavor that made even the common route a little more exciting each playthrough.
I did have a little trouble picturing where the flowers you're supposed to bloom are in the game. They're never described as being any particular place, just that they're there. Are they floating? Do people carry them around? What is going on lol.
There were also a few details in particular routes that I felt could have been done better, but ultimately I really liked this game. Below, please find my thoughts on each route in the order I played them. Spoilers ahead.
.
(SPOILERS) Zafora Route
Tumblr media
Zafora is so, so cute. You really have to work to get him to blush, which makes it all the more adorable when he does. His inability to speak sincerely is hilarious and results in a lot of roundabout dialogue. It doesn't help that Tifalia is kinda stupid and doesn't get it, but that just means Zafora has to come out and say what he means sometimes.
My biggest issue with his route was that Erase, the magical weapon he needs in order to save Cultura from Balto, is just a gun lolol. Like, this is a magical universe with magic and spirits and MAGIC and he gets a gun. The ending scene with him and Tifalia holding the gun together was extremely funny.
The ending did feel a bit rushed, as Balto just sort of vanishes after being shot. We don't really even get to see that moment, as Zafora freezes and isn't mentally present for it. The game pretty much abruptly ends after that, only to reveal that one year later, Zafora hasn't contacted Tifalia AT ALL. Like, bro, you're really gonna be like this after all she did for you?? Tifalia pretty much falls over herself taking him back, which made me kinda angry. Have higher standards, girl!
I've seen other write-ups about his route feeling more plot heavy with romance shoved at the end and I agree. The fun of a tsundere like Zafora is getting them to debase themselves and confront their feelings and even at the end, Zafora is never forced to do this. He remains dignified and cold and forces Tifalia to do all the emotional lifting. It was a bit disappointing for an after ending.
.
(SPOILERS) Ion Route
Tumblr media
This route was longer than Zafora's (or at least it felt so) and it seemed a little better paced. I felt Ion's relationship with Tifalia was sensible and sweet. Of course he'd fall for the girl who showed him a little kindness.
Characters like him (honest, deadpan, straightforward) can be handled well or poorly depending on whether the writing gives them time to grow. I think Ion's growth felt natural as he learns to rely on others, accept praise and have his own opinions about things.
One part in his route that I had trouble with was when the group just decided to break into Balto's house and then they did it. Like, we didn't get any sort of explanation. The dialogue was just like "we snuck in." I know the story needed to move on, but it was kinda funny that the circus kids can apparently stage a heist with no concerns.
I really enjoyed the characterization of Luna in this arc, but I did wish that she was drawn more childlike. I assumed she was just a short fully-grown woman until I played this arc because her clothes and hairstyle are fairly mature. But she's supposed to be like 12 I think?
While I thought Ion's ending battle scene was a lot less rushed than Zafora's, I wish Tifalia's sacrifice was given a bit more time to breathe. She just brands herself with the ring and then two seconds later Ion is able to deliver the final blow. I wish we'd had a little more time for him to agonize.
That said, the ending scene where everyone wordlessly agrees to brand themselves with the ring, despite not even being 100% sure that doing it will help, just to make Ion feel more secure, was absolutely adorable. I really felt the friendship here. It was incredibly sweet.
Overall, I felt Ion's route was more grounded than Zafora's, possibly because Ion is a more honest character. Also, jealous Ion at the end?? Fantastic. More of that, please.
.
(SPOILERS) Paschalia Route
Tumblr media
If Ion's route was romantic, Pas's route takes it to a whole different level. Zafora is outright hostile towards Tifalia for a lot of his route, and Ion was standoffish for a while. Pas, on the other hand, seems to be attracted to her from the very beginning. His chivalrous nature has already developed into romantic feelings before you even get on his route.
Seeing him blonde with yellow eyes was a shock. I knew his appearance changed based on his water spirit contract, but I didn't know how much, as blue hair isn't that uncommon in these games.
This route felt very different from the first two I did, and it took me a while to understand why I felt weird about it. I realized it's because Paschalia's route is perhaps too "traditional" for my taste. He tells you right away that he wants to protect Tifalia, not because she's without magic but because she's a woman. Which is ironic because Pas is easily the most feminine-looking character in the game, Tifalia included.
And his route culminates into a literal damsel in distress plot, with Tifalia trapped underwater, unable to do anything except wait for her prince to come. She felt more pathetic this route, as compared to Zafora's route, where her whole arc is figuring out how she can support him, and Ion's route, where she brands herself with a curse in order to help him. And let's be honest: as soon as they mentioned the Leve Vows, you know that's how it's going to end.
This is also the first route where you truly get to understand the fickleness of the great spirits. Leve has no rhyme or reason for what she does; she simply likes humans who are in love, and will punish them if they betray her expectations. It's treated as kind of sweet in the common route, but later I realized it's kind of horrifying. Sometimes people fall out of love, or just realize they need different things in a relationship. I don't think people should be punished for it.
There's a weird mention of making Paschalia the mayor of Oriens to get the earrings which is never followed up on. I also thought the surprise wedding was abrupt, and kind of messed up if I'm being honest. Consent is key!
I know there's a lot of negatives here, but I didn't dislike the route. I thought Pas and Tifalia's relationship developed fairly naturally, and I did genuinely cry when he rejects her initially. I also thought Leve televising their kiss to all of Oriens was hilarious.
But idk, overall this route felt a little heteronormative to me. I would have liked to see Tifalia get a bigger role.
.
(SPOILERS) Radie Route
Tumblr media
This route was ambitious to say the least, and I don't think it was pulled off as effectively as it could have been. A large part of it, to me at least, was that the route tries to pull off too much in such a small space. Radie's — or as we find out, Ralida's — route felt like it should have been the true ending. We find out so much about Tifalia's past, most notably that her parents are alive, but there's so much going on in this route that we don't really get a proper reunion with them.
I feel like this route was made to come right before the true end, so I cannot imagine how odd of an experience it would be to play it earlier. It makes the other three routes seem super insignificant, honestly.
Ralida was a weird choice to be the character that loses his emotions, namely because he's not the most expressive character in the cast. In fact, I'd say he's not expressive at all unless in his fey form, which we realize is largely acting, or at least a cutesy persona he developed for Tifalia's sake.
I do understand his arc mirrors Tifalia's own experience losing her emotions and memories when her parents "died." But it would have made more sense to go with a character like Vilio. Thinking about it now, none of the boys in Radiant Tale are very expressive except Vilio, are they? Lol.
Despite the dramatics, this route felt fairly low stakes, as they're basically never in doubt that they can bring Ralida's memories back. That made me somewhat impatient. I'd have liked the plot to be more "what can we do to bring him back" rather than "here is what we do, now sit through two more chapters while we do the thing." Idk if that makes sense but I was never worried for Ralida. And we never got an explanation for how the great earth spirit was about to turn Ralida into a full fey after he left. I guess it's something like Leve leaving a part of her consciousness behind, but we didn't get to hear any explanation so I don't truly know.
I also felt like Tifalia was kind of swindled out of a more satisfying after end sequence. It was better than Zafora's, but I wanted Ralida to be more flustered. We barely see him blush the entire route. I do like that Tifalia gets to take the initiative though. And I ADORE Tifalia's dad's reaction to their relationship. He is the most dad ever about it.
I also want to address one thing that bothered me a little, which is that it feels a bit icky that Ralida was basically Tifalia's dad for a while. I know he's an immortal being and probably time means nothing to him. And I don't blame Tifalia either, because she doesn't remember their past together. But surely this route could have been written in a way that didn't state over and over again that Ralida was her guardian? Just feels a bit wrong tbh.
I was really excited for the "childhood friend" route but I got a lot more than I expected. Again, I know I've written mostly negative things here but I promise I didn't dislike this route! I just think it could have done well with more space to breathe, as well as making Ralida more emotional from the get-go so it's more of a gut-punch when he loses his emotions. I still think this should have been the true end route, given how entangled Ralida is with Tifalia's past.
.
(SPOILERS) Vilio Route
Tumblr media
The beginning of this route felt weird to me, probably because you don't get to go through the regular common route. Vilio has his own version of the common route, and the key events/explanations of the common route are given new dialogue. However, it felt a little rushed, with oversimplified explanations and little dialogue with anyone but Vilio. It's basically just a crappier version of the common route.
I know it's because players have already read it and been through the common route four times at this point, but with the skip function, it's still pretty easy to get through it. And it gives you the ability to select Vilio on the cute little map like I got to do with the others. Idk, I know you're gonna pick Vilio when you're playing his route, but I felt like I was robbed of the chance to get onto the route myself. Maybe I'm just a traditionalist and prefer trying to qualify for a route like normal. But being made to read through a rushed version of the common route was annoying.
After playing Vilio's route, I still feel like Ralida's route would have been the better true end. That said, I thought Tifalia was at her best in this route. This is the only route where she gets to set out fully on her own (well, ok, with Colivus) and go on an adventure, standing up to the Great Spirits to convince them she's worthy.
Like in a lot of otoges, you realize Vilio's cheerfulness is a cover for his sadness and regrets. I enjoyed the contrast between his personality and his mission, as well as the visual of him with dark hair, symbolizing his dreariness and resignation to accept his fate.
Like with Ralida's route, I felt the reunion with Tifalia's parents was rushed, as was how everyone else gets their problems solved. I know the true end route is always tasked with somehow resolving things for everyone, but given how difficult it was to take care of, say, Paschalia's situation in his route, it seemed really silly to just say that Leve fixes him instantly. There was also the usual level of convoluted magic in Vilio's route, but I've grown to expect that sort of thing in these games.
I would have liked to see Tifalia with dragon powers. We know she now shares his lifespan but we're told she has a dragon's strength and magic now. Yet we never see an example of this. It would have been cool to get to see her become accustomed to her powers, or use them to fight, or really anything lol.
I also thought the Dragon's Bride thing was brought up way too late. It was never hinted at until it became plot relevant, which seems lazy. The introduction of the fiend breakout at the lab also seemed a bit too convenient.
I'd say overall, the pacing was my biggest criticism in his route. I wanted less common route and more Tifalia reuniting with her parents and attempting to come up with a way to help Vilio. That said, it was still a happy ending and I enjoyed playing it.
.
Jinnia
Tumblr media
Jinnia technically isn't a route, unless you count the common ending, but I would be remiss not to comment on him.
Honestly, I thought he was one of the best characters in the game. As soon as I saw him I was like "I hope he's not romanceable because sir, that is a Gay Man." Fortunately he's not (thought I have heard he sort of is in the fan disk) but he still has a great presence.
He's the first ally you have when Tifalia falls in love. He's always supportive, even when you don't make the choice he wants. And he canonically wears makeup and flamboyant fashion. He's easily the most consistently-behaved character in the game, and I love his relationship with his boyfriend childhood friend Acchan.
A+ character. 10/10

Tumblr media
Swirling the third drink in your hand you heave yet another depressed sigh. You are so tired that you feel like you can just slump on the counter and pass out. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to stop for a drink, you alcohol riddled brain thinks.
The plans you had with Katelyn was cancelled last moment; she called to tell you that her thesis submission date was moved forward and so she couldn't hang out with you tonight. You're in the middle of an existential crisis quite literally, the too many part time jobs yet still lack of money and copious amounts of study getting to you. Staring hard at your drink you contemplate if it is worth giving up on college and your dream of becoming an arts major. It sure feels tempting right now, the long hours at the diner and not enough sleep at night proving to be the worst nuisance.
Sighing you put down your drink. It's still early, you should go home and try to catch up on the much needed sleep. You really had no intention of grabbing a drink tonight; you have morning classes tomorrow but you made a last moment decision to stop for a drink on your way back home. You didn't take your usual route to home today, and while trudging through the streets tiredly you came across this bar called Seventeen's. You've heard stories about this place, how it is the home to local gangs and how it's bad people's turf and what not. Your curiosity, probably too much of that made you get inside for a drink even though all the bones in your body ached. The inside is what you expected, nowhere near fancy but dingy, just decent enough. The people inside didn't look friendly and if the chains and tattoos on them gave any indication you'd say the rumours are true; this is the turf of gangs. The drinks taste decent, not the best but not the worst and from the overall look of this place you don't really have a reason to come back.
You're about to stand up from your stool when a large, clammy hand grabs your wrist out of nowhere, making you jump. "Hey sexy, sit down. Let me buy you a drink," the owner of the hand, a large, tattooed middle aged man slurs making your nose scrunch out of disgust. You're wearing nothing that can be called sexy; a plain cardigan and jeans and the way he looks you up and down makes you want to poke his eyes out.
You really shouldn't have come here. Clenching your jaw, you meet his eyes, "What makes you think I'm interested to have a drink with you?"
"Oh come on, why would you be here then, lookin' all nice? Just sit down," the man drawls, an ugly smile on his face. He still hasn't let go of your wrist and it's making you impatient. Looks like you're gonna have to kick his balls tonight. Maybe the self defense classes didn't completely go to waste.
"Get your disgusting hands off me while I'm being nice, sleazeball," you hiss at him, trying to get his hand off. The man stands up growling, "What did you say you bitch?" You're preparing to break his nose when out of nowhere a punch lands on his face that sends him tumbling to the ground. The attacker gets on top of him and twists his arm and you can literally hear a bone snap.
Shit.
"I think she said she is not interested," the man hisses, landing yet another another hit on his face before kicking his groin and getting up. When he turns around and his eyes meet yours, your heart skips a few beats and you almost The man is drop dead gorgeous, someone you would not expect to see here but probably on the cover of a high end magazine. His blond hair is long, crossing the nape of his neck as well as some covering his forehead. What takes your breath away the most is his eyes, the most beautiful pair you've ever seen. They seem to have their own galaxies in them, so deep and mesmerising and decorated with lashes long enough to make you jealous. His dress up, black jacket and jeans, immediately tells you what he is; a gang member.
"You should get home, lady," He speaks in a no nonsense tone, his face cold as ice. But you're offended. "Excuse me? Who are you calling lady? You make it sound like I'm old." You puff your cheeks and cross your arms, trying to appear intimidating. "Besides I had the situation under control, you didn't need to butt in." The man keeps looking at you with that no nonsense look, his features displaying annoyance if you are right and he's clearly not intimidated. The dude on the floor grunts and makes an effort to get up, only to be kicked by your saviour once more. "Hey Mingyu, get him out of here. What was this piece of trash doing here anyway?" The man orders to someone before turning to look at you, "Do you live far?"
"Uh- no, a ten minutes walk from here maybe," you reply unsurely, surprised at his question. The blond haired man nods before grabbing your wrist, "I'll walk you home. Hurry up, lady." You have a feeling he's purposely calling you that and though you start following him out of the bar, you make grunts of protest.
"Oh yeah, why? Trying to find out my address? So you can come later and hurt me like that guy?" You would not be this brazen if it wasn't for the alcohol in your system, after all the man next you isn't a friendly one if the rumours are true. The man raises a brow at you, "Did you do something that requires me to beat you up?" You hiccup at his serious tone. Does he not get a joke? He lets go of your hand now that you're at a safe distance from the bar but still stays close enough to you as your steps are rather stumbling and messy. You aren't fully drunk but your body is tired and feels like will shut down any second.
You really need some sleep.
"You know I'm not that drunk. You don't have to walk me home." You complain. "I'm walking you home because this isn't a nice place you should be alone at night. What happened earlier could happen again." He says not looking at you. "Mhmm," you keep on trudging behind him, "Thank you so much for your kind gesture, sir." You mock him but he doesn't reply, staring straight ahead, completely ignoring you as he walks quietly. In silence you two walk the rest of the path, before finally stopping as your apartment comes into view. At this point it feels like your bones will break and you will plop down on the concrete any second, but you manage to keep standing. "Well, thanks for walking me home." You shift your weight from one foot to another. "And for helping me back there." He shrugs coolly, a bored expression on his face. He's turning to walk away when you call, "Hey- I didn't get your name."
"What do you need it for?" He side glances at you. You shrug, "I don't know. You helped me so I thought it'd be nice to know your name." "You don't need to. Go inside, lady." He says, his tone final and starts marching away. You wait a couple moments before yelling, "Asshole!" and quickly rushing inside your building, partly afraid he's gonna come back.
You won't be surprised if you get killed tonight.
-
"So you are telling me Choi Seungcheol walked you home?" Katelyn screams in your ear, jolting up from her seat, earning glares from other people at the library in the process. "That's his name?" You whisper-yell, grabbing her hand to pull her back down. "I'm guessing from the blond hair you said," Katelyn shrugs. "Uh huh." You mean back in your chair, "He was hot though."
"Is that seriously all you have to say?" Katelyn whines exasperatedly. "No, I mean, if it wasn't for the way he dresses or talks I would have thought he's a model or something." You murmur.
"Are you sure he didn't hurt you?" Katelyn questions. "Hell no!" You frown. "He saved me from that creepy old dude. I was surprised too. I wish I didn't drink so much, I could have gotten a better look at his face," you sigh. "Seriously?" Katelyn raises a brow at you.
"Girl, you should have seen him. His aura and the way he carried himself was...so hot." You grin to yourself. Katelyn watches you like you've grown two heads. "Are you trying to tell me you have a crush on that gangster?" You smile sheepishly, "Maybe, I mean it's harmless. He was broody yet charming and I'm a girl so.... Also, it's not like he likes me too and is gonna come running whenever I ask him to bang me." You mutter.
"Oh he's gonna break your bones and bang your skull against a wall. That's what he's gonna do."
"Come on! Maybe he isn't so bad. Maybe the rumours are just rumours. Maybe he just looks intimidating and dresses up like that and people thinks he's a gangster." "Really? His name is on every bad thing that happens around here. From illegal racing to murders. Do you know that people say he has killed too?" "Like I said, rumours," you shrug being your stubborn self. Katelyn holds her hands up in surrender, "You know what? It doesn't matter. I'm glad you're alive so let's just put this behind us, shall we?" You don't reply but wiggle your brows at her, a conspirational look on your face. "Oh no, don't look at me like that," Katelyn warns. "Let's go to that bar tonight. Please?" You give her your best puppy eyes. "What are you? Fucking crazy? You wanna get killed?" She whisper-yells, scowling at you. "No. I just wanna take another look at him. Without the alcohol in my system you know. Besides, the place isn't that bad." You reply.
"Well then get killed by yourself. I'm not coming with you."
"I'll help you with your papers for the rest of the semester."
"Shit."
-
"Well, looks like your wish won't be coming true," Katelyn muses chugging down her fourth glass as you keep playing with your first one. It's nearing an hour since you've come to the bar and there has been no sign of the man you desperately seek. The place is exactly like it was the other day, filled with people who you wouldn't want to mess with.
Yet here you are.
"Let's call it a night," Katelyn sighs. "We're just wasting our time." You know that too but you don't want to leave; not just yet. You are well aware that this is just pathetic but you've this crazy urge to see that man once again. You don't know why you feel this way; you never felt like this before. Why are thinking yourself to death about a complete stranger? Has some kind of spell been casted on you?
"Yeah, let's get going," you murmur half heartedly. You help your friend stand up as she's a little wobbly on her feet and together you make your way through the door. "Should we call a cab?" You ask Katelyn. She shakes her head no and you nod, you arms wrapped around hers to support her in case she looses her balance. You start stepping away from the bar and towards the road to her place until a noise from behind makes you stop in your tracks.
"Did you hear that?" You ask, whipping your head behind. There's no one around and the street is mostly dark other than the light flashing from the name of the bar. You hear the sound once again and this time you can locate where it's coming from. There's an abandoned playground at the back of the bar and you've a feeling that's the source.
Katelyn hisses as she sees you step towards there. "What are you doing!"
"Didn't you hear that?"
"Yes I did. That's why I say we leave!" You ignore her and cautiously keep on stepping forward, mentally cursing yourself for wearing heels. Katelyn follows behind you murmuring all kinds of warnings. "You know curiosity killed the cat, right?" She whispers.
You roll your eyes, "Well I'm not a cat. Just- be quiet. It can be nothing." You both move past the bar gingerly and towards the playground at the back. There are old gallons of oil and abandoned materials just around the corner and you two quickly hide among them. It takes you a while to get adjusted to the low light after you poke your head up from the hiding spot.
You're eyes fix on him immediately. His blond hair makes him easily recognisable amid the darkness. There is a few more people around him, all kicking something in the ground. Not something, but someone. The man lying on the ground groans in pain and you realize this is what you both heard. "Shit," You hear Katelyn curse from beside you. "We need to get going." Instead of replying, you keep your eyes trained on the scene unfolding, holding your breath. You're tranced. Seungcheol lands continuous punched on the guy laying below him and after a moment his writhing frame seems to stop moving as it falls limp.
Fuck.
"You know in movies this is the part where people get caught." Katelyn whispers, her voice hoarse and her hand clutching yours in a tugging motion. "Uh-huh. But I can't seem to move. I wonder if he's... really dead." You whisper back. "Are you fucking crazy!" She hisses. "You wanna witness murder?"
Before you can reply you hear a sound that echoes through the empty field and it takes a second for you two to realise that it came from any one of you two. You don't have the time to figure out who made it as you both are crawling away from the playground without looking back, head crouched low to avoid being seen. You don't know if they heard that or if they're coming behind you, you both just keep scrambling, moving until you're past the corner. As soon as possible you both get on your feet and run like the grim reaper is chasing you, stopping only when you are far enough from the bar.
"I am never listening to you again!" Katelyn yells.
-
It's been a good few days since your near death experience and you somehow find yourself in front of that bar once again. You and Katelyn have not brought up that incident after that night. You made yourself believe that it was over and came to a conclusion that it is better to forget that man and leave all of it behind, no matter how much your heart disagreed. But it's easier said than done; you may not mention him out loud but in the back of your mind you think of him. He's like a ghost, haunting you all the time, plagueing your thoughts when you go to bed at night. It felt like he was ever existent and there was an itch in your heart that drove you insane.
Maybe that's why your subconscious brought you here, in front of Seventeen's, once again. You were on your way back home from library and you thought you took your usual route, until you realized you were standing in front of that place. But what is even terrifying is that the man haunting your mind stands in front of the entrance of the bar and you blink a few times to make sure you are not hallucinating. He's leaned against the entrance door, cigarette between his lips and from his pocket he fetches a lighter to light the poison in his mouth.
Damn, lighting up a cigarette never looked this sexy.
He hasn't seen you yet and you contemplate running the other way. That's the sensible thing to do but you, not being a sensible person, start walking towards him. Your footsteps make him look up and notice you and like the last time, there is no expression on his face. It's the same bored yet handsome face except now in daylight you can take a better look at him and this time, you notice a little mole on the left of his face, by his nose. Realising he's gonna stay silent you decide to speak, "Hi... It's me... Do you remember me?" Wow. That's such an intelligent thing to ask.
With the monotoned yet serious expression on his face, he goes, "Why won't I? I don't have Alzheimer's."
So he can joke.
You laugh, an awkward, probably exaggerated laugh. "What are you doing here? Did you not learn your lesson last time?" He cuts to the chase, his voice brassy and deep, almost threatening. You want to roll your eyes. "Who are you to say? I can be wherever I want whenever I want, thank you very much." "Well then, have fun getting in trouble like last time." He's nonchalant as he blows a smoke right past you and stands up straight, turning away. "Wait!" You almost grab his hand, desperate to stop him.
What is wrong with you? Your subconscious slaps her forehead. What are you holding him back for? To say 'hello sir, I think you're hot, can you please put your dick inside me'? Seungcheol turns his head back, his eyebrow cocked up.
Why do you find everything about him so attractive?
"Um...I know your name, Seungcheol." You speak, trying to sound intimidating, like knowing his name gives you some power over him. There's something definitely wrong with you which is why you don't want him to leave just yet and which is why you're stalling time. But it seems to have done the job as he pulls the cigarette out of his mouth and turns towards you, an annoyed look on his face. "How do you know that?" The timbre of his tone is deep and it rakes shivers down your spine. "Well, you've built quite a reputation for yourself so it isn't hard to get your name." You shrug coolly. "Well, if you know so much about my reputation, you should know what I'm capable of." His lone is low, almost threating as he starts to take slow steps towards you making you step back out of reflex.
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Maybe you will also end up like the curious cat.
"Oh yes, I know. People have got a lot to say about you," you try to sound unfazed, not meeting his eyes that you feel are burning holes on your face. "What are you doing here, lady?" he asks slowly, pausing between each word and glaring at you as he continues to step forward. You can feel his patience thinning.
"I swear to God if you call me that-"
"What are you doing here?" This time his tone is scary, too scary. It makes you lose the ability to speak for a second as his dark gaze bores into you. He has backed you up against the wall behind you and you swallow. Right, what are you doing here? It probably has something to do with a very hot individual and his insanely attractive aura. Scratch that you are a hundred percent sure it has something to do with the blond haired, enticing man in front of you. He's driving you mad and you need to get your fill of him.
"Go out with me," you state and you are sure you've never spoken words more stupid than that. Internally, you cringe and pray that the ground below you would open and take you straight to the fiery pits.
This is the first time you see some sort of expression come across his face; surprise. He looks utterly shocked and somewhat confused. His mouth opens just a little and he squints at you, "What?"
There's no going back now.
"Go out with me. Let's go on three dates." you say once more, looking him in the eye. He seems to appear even more surprised, a dumbstruck look sitting on his face. He observes you quietly for a while and you can feel the gears in his head shifting. You wonder what he's gonna say next. Or maybe he won't say anything but bang your head on the wall and leave you to die alone. "I'm sorry I'm not following," he looks genuinely perplexed. "I want to go on three dates with you. They say after three dates you can figure out whether you like that person or not and I think I like you so..."
I think I like you.
The biggest understatement of the year.
Seungcheol tilts his head, an amused expression on his face as he studies you, those sharp eyes of his settling on yours, "What is your deal, sweetheart?" He crosses his arms, a brow raised. Sweetheart? That's new. And definitely better than lady. You can't deny how hearing him call you that makes your insides melt. "Nothing. I just want to date you," you shrug, trying to keep your wits together. His proximity is driving you wild; you can sniff a faint smell of cologne and cigarette, him being inches away from you. This time he laughs loudly, a mocking laugh you'd say. "Who sent you?"
Oh my god.
You roll your eyes. "Nobody sent me! Do I look like I'm a gang member or something?" "Then I don't see a reason why you'd want to date me," He states, throwing a challenging look at you.
"What if I said I have a thing for bad boys?"
He snorts. "You don't look the type to date bad boys," he mocks. "Who are you to say that?" You cross your arms. "I want to date you because I think you're hot, okay?" You can not believe you just said that. Looks like you don't have control over your mouth anymore. Warmth spreads throughout your face like a forest fire.
Seungcheol narrows his eyes on you, his tongue poking his cheek as he stands in front of you as if trying to read your mind. After a beat he sighs before looking at you, his eyes becoming darker than usual and his gaze unforgiving. "Hey. Does it look like I'm playing house here? Do you have any idea about the shit I do? The dirty work I do? I don't care if you have a fucking fetish or whatever but this is the last time I'm warning you. I don't want to see you around again. If I see you here once more, you're in fucking trouble," he spits and starts stomping away. His tone is serious and you know very well he is not joking, which is why you use your last resort. You're embarrassed at yourself for being so desperate but at the same time you feel shameless. It has almost turned into a game at this point, you want to make him surrender. That's right, you want him to give in. "You shouldn't be like that with me. I saw you, a few days ago. That night, when you and your friends were beating up that guy...in the playground," you casually stroll to come stand right behind him.
You can't believe you are blackmailing a gangster. Your death must be near.
Seungcheol whips his head back, his eyes glaring at you and you can almost see fire in them. Finally, you got his attention.
"My friend also saw it, we both did. You killed him, didn't you? Me and my friend witnessed a murder. What do you say? Should we go to the station?" You can see his jaw clench and you can't hold back a victorious smirk. Moments pass by as your words hang in the air and the tension between you gets thicker. Yet once more he surprises you, breaking the silence with a chuckle, "Well I killed one person, what makes you think I can't take care of another?"
You swallow.
"Well, my friend already knows so if I go missing you can be sure that the cops will come to you first." You throw back at him.
When did you get so wreckless?
Seungcheol stares at you for a few more seconds before shrugging and moving his hand dismissively, "Well then go tell the cops. I don't give a shit." He starts walking back to the bar leaving you starstruck. He stops and turns towards you before opening the door, "Also, I meant it. I hope I don't see you around. Otherwise I may just have to hurt that pretty face."
-
You don't show up after that.
Mostly because you are embarasssed.
It's been a good while after your last encounter with Seungcheol and you didn't go to the police, obviously. Because you don't have evidence and from what you've heard Seungcheol is pretty influential around here and you don't need to go to an extent to get on his bad side. You're definitely gonna end up dead if you do so, which you don't want just yet.
Classes have just finished and you and Katelyn step out of the classroom together, walking through the hallways and into the main campus. She rambles on about some bad sushi she ate yesterday while your mind remains preoccupied. Maybe you need to get laid. Maybe that'll make you forget about Seungcheol. You just need good dick that's probably why you were so desperate for him.
That's just a stupid lie.
You don't realise Katelyn is calling you until she shakes you by the shoulder and you snap back into reality. You notice her face is as pale as a ghost and following her line of sight your eyes stop on him.
Him. Seungcheol.
What?
You double take, blinking furiously to confirm your vision. He's standing there, in the parking area of your uni, leaned against a convertible Ferrari, a cigarette between his lips. He looks relaxed, like he does this regularly. Students whisper in each others ear while gawking at him curiously. "What did you do!" Katelyn yells. "Nothing!" You hiss back.
"Then why is he here!"
"I don't know!"
Your eyes meet with Seungcheol's and a smirk spreads across his face making you shiver. He stands up straight and tilts his head, an indication for you to come closer to him. "Fuck, he's here for me," you mumble. "Of course he's here for you, dumbass," Katelyn snaps. "Well, if I don't return, you know who killed me." You sigh starting to walk towards him. "Wait- you're going with him?" She asks incredulously.
"Don't worry. I'll keep my phone on. I don't think he's gonna murder me, I mean there are so many witnesses." You inhale deeply, leaving behind a lost looking Katelyn.
Seungcheol says nothing as you stand right in front of him raising an inquisitive brow but he only holds open the door for you to get in. Deciding to follow him you enter the car quietly and a wave of gasps go through the crowd.
There's gonna be talk about this tomorrow.
Seungcheol, still smirking victoriously for some reason rounds the car and gets inside and within seconds you're hitting the road. There's a thick silence for a while, which feels like ages to you. You're overwhelmed, bewildered to say anything; your poor brain still processing what is happening. You're nervous, jittery as you fiddle with you bag and look out on your side, for some reason scared to look at him.
What if he really kills you? He wouldn't, right?
"You're awfully quiet," Seungcheol says matter of factly as he spares you a glance while driving.
"I'm... processing."
"What are you, a robot?"
"Why are you doing this?" You question instead.
"Doing what?"
"Okay, you know very well what I mean. Why are you picking me up from uni all of a sudden? How do you even know I'm a student there?" "I have resources and...you didn't protest at all. You came along nicely," Seungcheol raised a brow at you, a cocky smile on his lips. You don't answer but continue to stare at him, trying to pin him down with your gaze. He finally sighs and pulls the car to a stop by the side of the road, the sudden brake making you slightly jerk in your seat. "I've decided to give you those 3 dates. That's why," He is calm, unreadable and you wonder if this is a prank. Then again, he has no reason to prank you, does he? "Really?" Your voice comes out breathy. "Yes. I thought I'd give you a taste of how it feels to be with someone like me. I can scare people without physically hurting them you know," He says in a menacing tone.
"So what? You're taking me to an underground fight or something?" You question. "Nah, we're keeping it simple today." He smirks as he starts the car again and turns on the radio, an indication that he doesn't want to converse anymore.
Shamelessly you take a good look at Seungcheol; he's dressed in another jacket today paired with a black tee underneath. Today, you notice he has upped his accessory game, his fingers full of rings and chains dangling from his neck. But what catches your attention is a tattoo, something like a dragon and words written in a language you don't understand, peeking from underneath his sleeve. You almost ask about it but decide it'll probably be too much and he wouldn't answer you anyway.
As you do so, in the back of your mind you think you should have dressed better, something cuter, more appropriate for a date rather than a plain blouse and jeans. But then again who knew Choi Seungcheol was gonna show up out of the blue. You're gnawing at your lower lip, lost in your thoughts when the car is pulled to a halt and you realize your ride is over. You're parked in front of a diner called Lacy's and from the vibe that the place is giving, you can tell that this is place where people like him hang out. You raise a questioning brow at Seungcheol who says, "I know it doesn't look fancy but trust me I has some of the best food I've ever eaten." Taking his words for now you quickly type out a text to Katelyn letting her know you're in one piece and get out of the car.
Once you're seated you look around the place which is relatively empty except some men playing pool at the far end. You watch Seungcheol who has gone to the reception booth to place your orders; his posture relaxed as he leans against the counter and talks to the girl standing there. They seem to know each other because their chat takes longer than it should and the girl has a shy, almost flirty smile on her face.
He probably fucks her.
You shake the thought off your head as the gangster comes back and sits in front of you. There's silence for a second as you wonder if you should just ask the questions that run free around your mind. "Are the rumours true?" You blurt out. He's raises a brow.
"About you. You know..."
"Do you want them to be true?" He asks back. "I don't...know," you reply. "Well, I think it depends on each person. If you want it to be true it is true, if you don't it isn't," he shrugs, leaning back in his chair. "Why don't you just give me a straight answer?" you snap. He smirks as if he's having fun but doesn't reply, watching you with his arms crossed. You roll your your eyes, blowing out an exasperated breath. "You know, I haven't seen one like you. Willingly hanging out with dangerous people, going to dangerous places. You say you saw me kill someone yet you're here. You're almost desperate to get in trouble," he observes. "I'm not desperate to get in trouble. I just...I'm just- attracted to you alright?" This is so embarrassing. You need to shut your mouth. "You've been on my mind ever since that night. I wanna see exactly how deep I'm into you." You bite your lip.
That's enough. You will boost his ego through the roof like this.
Seungcheol studies you for a bit before grinning cockily, "Well, if you didn't know, I am trouble baby. Just you being with me might end you up in a mess." Before you can reply, your food is served, that same girl from the booth setting down your plates and looking at Seungcheol for a bit too long with that same stupid smile which he returns. You don't know why but you feel jealous, jealous of whatever these two share, whatever she has with him.
You've lost your mind at this point. You're on a high that is Seungcheol. He has made you forget your morals, made you completely lose your mind. Or maybe you've been too good all your life and seeing him brought out that crazy, thrill seeking part of yourself.
Silently you dig into your food and as Seungcheol said, the food is really good. This is one of the best meatloaf you've ever had and you can't help but moan. Seungcheol watches you with an amused smile before popping a fry in his mouth.
"What's your major?" Seungcheol asks out of the blue.
"Uh- sociology."
"Mmhmm."
You're about to ask him what he studied in college but you assume he probably never went to one so you seal your lips. You wonder what his background is and who his parents are but you don't want to get too personal on the first day. So you ask something else, "How old are you?" He laughs out loud before he deadpans, "Thirty five." "What!" You almost choke.
There's no way he's-
"Why? What did you expect?"
"I... I don't know! A few years older than me? You're kidding right? You don't look thirty five." He has to be bluffing. "And how old would you be?" "You shouldn't ask a woman her age," you try to make a point. "Don't you have any manners?" He smirks,"I don't, sweetheart. To answer your question, I'm twenty eight."
Uh huh.
"Well, I'm twenty one," you mutter under your breath. You don't know if he hears it because he doesn't give any reaction, busy twirling a fry in sauce. The rest of your meal is full of silence as you wonder if your date will end like this; dry and boring. He's awfully silent and seems to be lost in thoughts as he doesn't engage in a conversation. You're about to take your last bite when the silence is broken by him.
"What did you see that night?" He leans over, his elbows resting on the table as he suddenly regards you with a sombre look, his earlier cockiness vanished. His eyes have once again gone dark and his demeanor says he's not being superficial right now. You're caught off guard as you cough loudly, reaching for your glass to take a sip of water. "What?"
"You heard me. What did you see that night? Exactly how much did you see?" He repeats. You're confused. You thought he didn't care about it. He said it didn't matter. So why is he bringing it up now? You've worked hard to push that night in the deepest part of your brain, pretending it didn't happen.
And then suddenly it clicks.
"You!" You point an accusatory finger at him as you catch on to his plan. "You've agreed to go out with me so that you can find out what I saw that night!" Seungcheol groans, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Ugh, just fucking tell me!" He snaps, annoyed that you've found out his little scheme. You scoff, "I thought you said you didn't care? Besides it's not like I'm going to tell the police." He rolls his eyes and leans back into the couch. "Just tell me and let me go."
You're baffled. His actions didn't make any sense and you actually thought he had no other intentions behind dating you but holy shit this sneaky bastard. "You sly little asshole!" You hiss at him. "Call me that once more and you'll regret it." He threatens. You roll your eyes sagging back into your seat, "Whatever." Then an idea hits you. "You know what, I'll tell you exactly how much I saw that night." You have Seungcheol's full attention now as he stares intensely at you, waiting for your next words. "On our third date. When this whole deal is over, I'll tell you. But in return you'll have to keep your promise and take me out on two more dates."
"Oh fucking hell," he groans rubbing his face in frustration. His state makes you smirk and you feel accomplished.
Choi Seungcheol is stressed because of you.
What a day to be alive.
You murmur, "Besides this isn't even a proper date. This was more like an interrogation. But I'll go easy on you and won't make you redo this date." You give him a sweet smile and he sees red. You can literally see fury blaze in his eyes. "Whatever!" He yells and abruptly stands up. "I don't have time for this. Your stupid play date is over. I'm dropping you home."
Before you can reply, he's marching towards the door. You've to admit this wasn't the best date but at least you've trapped Choi Seungcheol.
-
It has been a good week after your so called date at the diner and you haven't heard from him. You expected him to call or text you since he was gracious enough to ask for your number but he didn't. You now realize it was a mistake to not get his number; you had asked him for his when he took yours but being the prick he is he denied to hand over his number to you. You should have forced him to, you sigh. As you sit in the library the ping of your mobile distracts you from your racing thoughts as you realize you have a message. Picking the device up you tap on the notification. Even though it was from an unknown number, you have no trouble figuring out who it is from. A smile graces your lips as you read the words over again.
I'll pick you up from your house tomorrow evening at six.
That's all it says and that is good enough to send a thrum of excitement throughout your body.
-
You have not held back in dressing up today and you realize it's been a long time since you've dolled up yourself. A long before the clock strikes 6 you are ready; dressed in a cute pastel top and a matching skirt. You've also went ahead and applied makeup, not too much but just enough to maybe catch his eye. Maybe.
You wonder what he has planned for today.
A text from Seungcheol saying he's here has you flying out of your apartment as fast as your feet can carry your desperate self to see him. He stands in front of your apartment with his convertible, dressed in a white jacket that matched his pants. You take a deep breath before walking towards him, trying to calm all your nerves down.
"You know I expected to hear from you earlier. I've been waiting all week," you voice makes his head turn around to meet your eyes as you are skipping towards him with a teasing smile in your face. "I've been busy," he shrugs coolly, his eyes going over your whole body, from your legs to your face. He doesn't hide that he's taking a good look at you, in fact does it unashamedly.
You wonder if he likes what he sees.
Someone dressed up today," he comments. "Too bad we aren't going to a place where you can show off your pretty clothes." You frown, "Where are we going?" Seungcheol holds open the door, a mischievous smile on his face. "I've decided to grant your wish." With a confused face you get inside the car, the gears in your head running. What does he mean?
"I'm taking you to an underground fighting ring," he says with smirk as he reaches for something behind his seat. He pulls out a large hoodie and tosses it towards you, "Put this on. Otherwise you are going to attract a lot of attention and you don't want that." You gulp, taking the hoodie and putting it on you. You're slightly embarrassed. You were so excited to try this outfit but it's not like you knew he was taking you to a fight club. Hell you would have dressed like a guy if you knew. You shrug on the hoodie and it falls almost to your knees but it's huge and comfy and most importantly it smells like him. There's a hint of cologne, nothing too strong; a subtle, expensive scent that makes you want to take a deeper sniff. You wonder if you can keep this with you.
Stop it, pervert.
Seungcheol's voice pulls you out of your haze, "You can take it off later. Just wear it until we're out of there," he says and brings the engine to life.
Then you actually think about it. Underground fighting ring? Holy shit. You were only kidding when you mentioned it. Admittedly, you're shocked, somewhat horrified. Everyone knows it isn't the best place to be at especially for someone like you who never had such an experience. Seungcheol must have seen your expression because the smile on his face gets bigger, "Why? You not up for it?" His voice is teasing.
He's challenging you.
Oh well.
"Of course I'm up for it," you square your shoulders, keeping your voice cool. "Bring it on."
-
Seungcheol leads you into a bar and then through a door at the back that leads down to a lot of stairs, reaching a place similar to an underground parking lot. Quietly you follow Seungcheol, staying as close to him as possible, your bodies occasionally touching. He leads you to a pair of double doors and from the other side you can hear men shouting and chanting.
This is it, I guess.
Seungcheol throws one more smile at you before pushing open the doors as you scramble to follow him closely. The sight that greets you something you only see in movies. There's a boxing ring where two people are throwing punches at each other and surrounding them from all sides is a wild, loud and excited crowd. They continue to cheer loudly as the two men in the ring continue to box and you hear their grunts and groans.
Holy shit.
Swallowing your eyes meet Seungcheol's who is regarding you with curiosity. "What do you think?" He has to speak loudly for you to hear over the screaming throng. "Uh... It's loud," you say dumbly as you try to think of a reply. But it's too loud for you to even think properly as you take in your unfamiliar surroundings. You see a tall man approaching towards you and out of reflex you shuffle closer to Seungcheol until you realize it's his friend. The guy from the first night. He and Seungcheol grin at each other, patting their backs as they talk close to each others ears. You gawk at them curiously and realize they must be talking about you because his friend takes curious glances at you occasionally. His friend is tall, really tall and well built but unlike his body his face is sweet and puppy like, almost cute. When he grins his canines pop up just like a puppy and you wonder if all his friends are good looking.
After he's done chatting with his friend Seungcheol pulls you close and says, "This is my friend. Mingyu. Always stay near him, you hear me? Don't stray away unless you wanna get hurt." His eyes are stern as he pins you down with his stare but you have other thoughts running in your head.
"What do you mean? Where are you going?" You yell over the noise.
He just smirks at you and starts taking his jacket off. "About time you see how we do it around here." His tone is cocky as he hands his jacket to you, "Hold this for me. And stay close to him."
Giving a look at Mingyu Seungcheol starts walking away towards a door that you're guessing is the changing room.
He's gonna fight.
"Wait- but-" Mingyu stops you with a hand on your shoulder and offers you a kind smile. "It's fine. Just stay with me." He then ushers you towards the crowd, spotting a place where you can get a good look at the ring. "Do you guys do this often?" You look up at Mingyu. He smiles sheepishly, "Not me. I tried a few times and I always end up beaten to a pulp. But hyung does this often, he's really good."
"Uh huh, I'm sure he is," you smile dryly. "This is your first time watching a fight, no?" "Definitely." He grins, "Watch carefully then. It's really fun."
You have your doubts on how watching people beat each other up can be fun but you don't comment anything, instead chew on your lip anxiously. Seungcheol really didn't have to go this far? What if he gets hurt badly? Is he trying to impress you?
Don't flatter yourself, your subconscious rolls her eyes.
As the loud cheering that had died down ensues again, your train of thoughts are halted as you see Seungcheol in shorts and his hands covered in boxing gloves, step into the ring. You can't help but ogle at his naked torso, his finely defined and chiseled muscles. He has the perfect body, not too bulky, not too lean just the right amount that gives you a hard time taking your eyes off him. He seems to have noticed your gaze because the second your eyes meet, he throws a haughty, knowing smirk at you. Embarrassed you avert your gaze elsewhere.
His opponent is a muscular man who's growling and banging his chest with his fists, a gesture of intimidation, you suppose. You are definitely intimidated and you wonder if Seungcheol can actually win against him.
The fight starts with a whistle and in mere seconds they are on to each other, throwing punches left and right. Your eyes have a hard time keeping up with them and their fast reflexes and your hands fly to your mouth as a punch lands on Seungcheol's face, followed by repeated blows as Seungcheol falls back. There's a moment of silence as he wipes his bottom lip and you realize there's a cut.
He tilts his neck, popping the bones and glaring at the other man before launching himself on top of his opponent. The next moments are a blurry mess, Seungcheol beating the guy repeatedly until he ends up on the floor but he doesn't stop there. Seungcheol ends it with a sharp jab to his spine and you have no doubt the other man has broken bones with the ways he howls in pain. The match comes to an end like that as the people cheer wildly while Seungcheol steps down from the stage. Mingyu grins at you happily as if what you witnessed was just a regular occurrence, something you should be cheerful about. Shaking your head at the situation, you let out a deflated sigh.
Their life is really so different than yours.
-
Seungcheol seems to be in a very good mood after the fight as he buys you both some sandwiches and drinks from a deli after you both step out of the bar. You both sit down at a park nearby to eat and watch the night sky. "You know, I thought you were gonna lose," you speak after taking a few bites of the sandwich. Seungcheol scoffs, "You underestimate me, sweetheart. I've been doing this for a long time."
"Do you enjoy it?" You ask quietly, focused on peeling the wrapper from your food. You feel Seungcheol's stare on you. "Yes. Why? Are you scared already?"
"No. I was just... curious. Your definition and my definition of fun is totally different." You murmur. "Of course. What did you think? I go to the mall and shop and watch movies with my friends when I'm bored?" His tone is sarcastic. You bite your lip. "No I didn't. It's just...I feels different now that I have experienced it first hand." Seungcheol offers nothing more, taking a sip of his coke and leaning back into the bench. A silence stretches between the both of except the rustling of the wrapper of your food. "How long have you been doing this?" You blurt out. He frowns at you and you don't expect him to answer but he surprises you.
"For a long time."
He doesn't offer anymore and you don't have the heart to prod him for an actual answer. "And how long do you plan on doing this?"
"What?"
"I mean... don't you have any other plans. Like...do you wanna keep doing what you are doing for the rest of your life? Don't you wanna like... settle down maybe?" Your voice is soft as if you are talking to a child. Seungcheol looks annoyed. He doesn't speak for a while as he stares at the ground, a frown etched to his face. You're about to take back your question when he replies, "I really don't think you understand. I've been trying to tell you that my life is completely disparate to yours. So I don't think like you. I don't have plans like you but neither am I expected to follow a certain pattern like you. I can do whatever the fuck I want, ___. So don't look at me like you pity me. I'm the last person here that should be pitied. " His tone is sharp and it makes you feel bad, like a sensation of needles pricking your heart. "I didn't mean it like that. I'm sorry," You whisper, feeling timid as you look down at your lap. He mutters, "Don't go poking your nose in other people's business. Specially people like me."
He's right. You shouldn't have asked that. You are not close enough to ask things like that. After that there is a silence, this time, an awkward one. There's palpable tension in the air and you feel jittery. Should you just ask him to take you home?
It's still early and truth be told, you don't want to leave him just yet. You only have one more date to go and judging by his reaction, he is in no way interested in a relationship. You heave out a long sigh. You knew very well what you were getting into, yet you couldn't stop yourself. Seungcheol is like a poison, the sweetest one, the one that has you addicted and unable to let go, no matter how much it hurts.
This is a fucking mess.
"Let's get going. I have plans," Seungcheol announces, standing up. You want to protest but you feel like you have ruined the mood, so you follow him mutely to his car.
The drive to your house is awfully quiet, to the point you want to scream out of frustration. Seungcheol seems to be lost in his head as he makes no move to talk. It's like you are alone, but you're not and it's worse, the air full of tension. Soon you have reached your house and he stops the car but keeps the engine rolling, indicating his rush. He keeps still and stares ahead while gripping the steering wheel as you step out of the car in silence. "Thanks for dropping me home," you say lamely, your voice meek. You turn around to walk away but his voice stops you in your tracks.
"I promised you three dates and I will keep my word. I expect you to keep yours, ___. I hope you will tell me what I want to hear when we meet next time." His tone is sharp with an edge of threat and you barely get to nod before he drives away.
It's not until you're inside your apartment that you realize you still have his hoodie on. Quickly fishing out your phone you type out a text.
I'm sorry, I forgot to return your hoodie.
After a while, his reply comes.
Keep it.

You watch Katelyn as she fills her lunch tray with food before walking over and taking a seat opposite to you. She looks extra radiant today, which probably has something to do with the way she's dressed; a bright colourful outfit which undoubtedly she put a lot of time into considering. She has a date, with a guy she has been talking to for the last few weeks. It reminds you of your pitiful situation and you sigh, trying to shrug off those thoughts.
It has been a good couple weeks since you last saw Seungcheol and you have not exchanged a word after that night. In the back of your mind you wonder if he is even alive. You want to message him, you really want to because you are going crazy but after how your last date ended, you can't bring yourself to. You are scared, exactly of what, you can't put your finger into.
The entire situation you have put yourself into is fucking scary. They say you become sure of your feelings after three dates but it did not take that much for you. You already are very certain about your feelings for him and how deep they run exactly and you also know that in the end you will be left scarred. He would never be yours. He has probably forgotten about you or decided that it is not worth another date to figure out what you saw that night.
You let a desperate, pitiable sigh.
"I know you are hiding things from me but I understand that you are not ready to talk yet. But I want you to know I am here for you okay?" Katelyn's voice makes you blink your way out of your thoughts. She squeezes your hand tightly and gives you a reassuring smile and you're left feeling guilty.
"I ...I will tell you. Soon. Just give me a bit more time," you whisper. She nods in understanding. A grateful smile touches your lips as her words make you emotional. Then there's a ping from your phone letting you know there's a message. Without giving it much thought you open the device and your eyes go wide.
I'll take you out for dinner tomorrow night. Wear something formal.
-
You wait outside your apartment for Seungcheol. Your day has passed by in a flurry of excitement and nerves as you carefully picked your outfit and did your hair and makeup. A soft baby pink dress that stopped just above you knees adorns you as your hair rests just above your neck in a loose bun.
You are fiddling with your fingers as you think about how this night is gonna end and wether you will ever see him again when a car screech that grabs your attention.
Seungcheol's convertible has taken a stop in front of you and you see the man getting out the vehicle and take big steps towards you.
You're mesmerized.
Perhaps there is not enough word in this world to describe his looks or perhaps you've simple lost the ability to speak; either way, you just stand and stare, drinking the godly man that stands in front of you. He looks delectable, completely flawless and agonizingly gorgeous in his sharp black suit and pants, with a silk black shirt underneath, the top couple buttons undone that reveals a beautiful porcelain skin. His hairstyle completes the look, parted to one side in a sleek way and showing his forehead and oh god is it sexy. You realize you have a forehead kink, if there is anything as such.
If you weren't in love with him before you are now.
He looks ravishing, and you wonder why it isn't illegal to look this good. It should be because you have completely lost control over yourself. Nothing exists in your world except for him and you feel paralyzed, unable to do anything but drink him in. You wonder if you are even worthy to stand beside him.
"____?" Seungcheol calls you, snapping his fingers in front of your eyes. He must have been calling you while you were eye fucking him. "Oh! Um, hi." You're flustered. "You- you look really, really nice." It isn't enough but it's what you can get past your lips. A knowing smirk kisses his lips before he teases, "Well, you look really, really nice too." Motioning you to his car he says, "Shall we? We'll be late for our reservation."
"Yeah, of course," you say, hurrying over to his car, embarasssed at your foolery. Seungcheol must have noticed you ogling him like that. But you don't really care when he looks like that. It is his fault for looking so devilishly handsome and idly you wonder if he did that on purpose. If he's deliberately teasing with, trying to make you the most miserable before letting you go with a slap of reality to your face. Pushing away those plagueing thoughts, you sit up straight and clear your throat as Seungcheol comes to sit beside you and brings the engine to life.
A decently long and quiet (except for the music from the radio) but not quite uncomfortable car ride later, Seungcheol stops in front of a really fancy and expensive looking restaurant just by the sea. You did not except him to take you to a high end restaurant, otherwise you would have put some more effort in your looks.
Feeling slightly out of place you quietly follow Seungcheol into the beautiful European styled building after he hands his keys to a valet. The interior is dripping with polished furnitures and extravagant chandeliers and marble floors as guests dressed elegantly have their dinner. As you look around the place in awe Seungcheol talks to the receptionist who then guides you towards a staircase that leads to a pair of large double doors decorated with gold which then, opens to a large balcony. In the middle of it sits a table with two chairs and an unceremonious gasp escapes your mouth as you realize this is where you will be having dinner.
The man from earlier takes his leave as Seungcheol helps you sit down before taking a seat for himself while you take in everything, overwhelmed with all your surroundings. Why did he put so much effort for a lousy and fake date?
"What do you think?" He asks with a smirk as he rests one of his elbows on the table.
"I'm overwhelmed," you reply quietly, honestly. He chuckles, "Well this place has really good food and a fantastic view so I thought it wouldn't bad for our last date."
Last date.
"It's really beautiful. I don't know why you did this but thank you, really," you murmur, eyes on the satin table cloth with intricate golden lining. Everything about this place is so pretty.
"Well, I decided it would be beneficial for me to extract words from you if you are wooed," his words have a teasing tone to it and his demeanor is completely different from last time, giving you a whiplash but you are not sure if he's fully joking. Before you can say that you are definitely wooed, a waiter appears to take your order and you leave the duty of ordering to Seungcheol since he seems to frequent this place. Prior to his leave, the waiter pours you Seungcheol's champagne of choice and then, you two are alone once more.
Reaching for the flute, you quickly gulp down the champagne to soothe your dry throat and to calm all your nerves.
Over dinner you talk about your uni and your parents back home and the farm they own. While Seungcheol mostly keeps quiet he doesn't ignore you but listens carefully, occasionally passing glances your way or commenting. He does not offer anything about him, which you expected and you don't ask any questions about him either. Instead you try your best to keep his interest in your words despite the lack of it from his side.
After a hearty meal of poached lobsters and wagyu beefs and creamy soups comes dessert; a chocolate orange mousse with spiced fruits and yogurt sorbet. You start eating your dessert in silence, the occasional crashing of waves filling the complete lack of sounds.
This location is truly magnificent and breathtaking, almost having a feel like you're in a fancy resort in a luxurious tropical island. It is undoubtedly the most beautiful place you have ever been, let alone have dinner at and you wonder if you would ever have the chance to visit some place like this had you not met Seungcheol. The man in question, continues eating quietly, seemingly lost in his thoughts. He looks lovely as always, if not more and you try to burn this image in your mind for you to look back at later. You want to ask him so many question, you want to tell him so many things but you're scared. Sacred if you do so this moment will break, scared it will annoy him and end your final date all too early. So you bite your tongue and finish your food as he does and after your plates are cleared away, you are served another expensive champagne as an end to your luxurious dinner.
Even though Seungcheol doesn't say anything, you assume it is time to spill the beans, to say what he has been wanting to hear from the beginning. You have teased him enough and it is time you give him what he deserves. Taking a deep breath, you open your mouth. "Me and Katelyn heard noises from the playground that night so we decided to check. It was pretty dark and we were tipsy but I recognized you and you were... beating someone up. We stayed there and watched until one of us accidentally made some noise. We were scared that you heard us so we ran. That's all that happened."
You have Seungcheol's full attention now as he listens cautiously, his sharp eyes trained on you. Gulping, you clench your hands together underneath the table, waiting for his reaction. There seems to be an eternity of silence as Seungcheol simply stares at you as if he's debating whether your words are true or not. It's torturous, awfully agonizing and when you can't bear it anymore you're about to speak but he beats you to it.
"I didn't kill him." His voice is quiet. You let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding. Somewhere in the back of your mind you believed it, you believed he wouldn't be cruel enough to kill someone just like that and as soon as he speaks those words you believe him, without a doubt, without a second of delay.
"I believe you." You whisper, holding his gaze. "That asshole deserved what he got. He shouldn't even be alive but I let him go. He's in a hospital now, if you are wondering." You nod quietly. It's scary how much you believe him, how much you trust him even though he is pretty much a stranger.
There's a moment of silence as you bask in his presence before he speaks, "____, men like me, we aren't the nicest people. But we are needed, the cops need us around. People like me do the dirty works for people like you so y'all don't face troubles. We do things in an unconventional way but that's just who we are. We aren't as bad as the rumours say but we definitely aren't someone you should be with." You open your mouth to protest but his sharp gaze makes you stop. "If you have not understood it yet, let me say it out loud. I am trouble. People like me is always bad news. Whatever we did until now, I hope you forget. That's the best, ____ trust me. I think we both got what we wanted so let's call it a night." Just like that, he stands up, not waiting for your reply.
You gawk at him, baffled as he pays the bill and starts walking away. Tears burn the back of your eyes and you bite your lip to hold them back. The ending that you had expected has taken place but you are having a hard time accepting it. Your subconscious reminds you that you deliberately got yourself into this even though you saw this coming. So there is no one to blame for it but you. Grabbing your purse, you stomp your way out of the restaurant and towards Seungcheol's car.
Seungcheol barely acknowledges you as you both get in the car and he presses the key to the ignition. You are fuming in your seat, his words and the way he dismissed you cutting you deep. His words come to you, I think we both got what we wanted. You want to laugh. How can he possibly think that? Is he really so stupid or is he deliberately ignoring your interest in him? You want to smack his perfect face, curse and scream at him but all you can do is sit still with your arms crossed as steam comes out of your head. Is he really not curious about your feelings? Does he possess none for you? Does these few days with you mean nothing to him? You have so many unanswered questions. Leaning back into your seat, you close your eyes and let out a frustrated sigh.
It feels like in the blink of an eye the drive to your place is over as Seungcheol halts his car in front of your apartment. He does not utter a single word, doesn't even spare a glance at you while patiently waiting for you to get out of the car.
Asshole.
You inhale deeply, trying your best to gather yourself together as you take off your seatbelt and turn towards him.
"Seungcheol?" Few seconds pass before he looks at you. Words are stuck in your throat. When your eyes meet his, you become mute, overwhelmed with emotions as your words die in your tongue. He keeps staring at you, not opening his mouth but waiting for you to speak. "Is this goodbye?" Your voice breaks.
"I believe we don't have any reason to see each other. We both got what we wanted," He says without batting an eye. You're left bemused, one step away from landing a slap on his face. How dare he say that?
"Do you really believe that?" Your words come out as an accusation. "I wanted to go out with you because I thought I have feelings for you! And I do! And my feelings have only increased since I first saw you. I want to see you again, Seungcheol. You may have gotten what you wanted but I didn't." Your fades into a whisper as tears burn the back of your eyes.
Seungcheol stays quiet, staring ahead, his brows knitted as if he's annoyed. "I promised you three dates, ____. And I gave you that. It's over. Your feelings? You'll get over them. It's better to be in pain for a while that be with someone like me."
"You can't say that! I get to decide for myself!"
"____," he sighs, rubbing his temples. "I'm a bad man. You should leave while you still have a good image of me. You'll get hurt because of me and I've caused enough pain to enough people. Just...go. Just forget me." You stare at him as frustrated tears roll down your cheeks. He doesn't meet your gaze but turns his head the other way. You are angry, infuriated and heart broken all at a time. Clenching your fists you inhale a shaky breath before reaching for him.
Before you can chicken out, you tilt his face towards you and quickly press your lips against his. Seungcheol seems to be shocked as a small gasp leaves his mouth but you don't let him push you away. Instead one of your hands come to rest on his thigh as he other cups his face to keep his mouth against yours. You kiss him with all you have left, pouring in every bit of passion and love for him as your tongues intertwine. By the time you are both breathless, Seungcheol gently pushes you back and peers into your eyes. "That's all I can give you, ____." He says, his voice the softest you have heard. You are broken into a million pieces and as much as your heart wants to cling to him, you suddenly feel tired, deflated like a popped balloon. Your emotions have drained you out and left nothing and right now, breathing almost seems too painful for you. Taciturnly, you grab your purse and step out the convertible. You hear another door shut behind you but you don't look back as your heavy steps carry you to the entrance of your building. When you are about to enter your apartment, you accumulate all your strength and courage to spare one final glance at him.
Turning around you see Seungcheol standing by his car, hands in his pockets, simply watching you. Even though your eyes are locked on each other, you don't see any emotion in them. He looks like the same expressionless, mysterious man you saw the first day. The man you fell in love with. Taking in his gorgeous features one last time, you bite your lip and turn away, forcing yourself to walk inside your apartment building.
Your chapter with Seungcheol ends here.

heyo heyo! Can you please do 9. with BamSara's Solar Lunacy au? thought it'd be cute! *slides you a cookie just because*
Sorry in advance to @bamsara for I have butchered their characterization so badly. That being said, I hope u like it:
.....
The familiar singing of bells looms over you, a presence you've recently come acquittanced with observes you cautiously from the shadows that swallow the whole ceiling. Not even the harsher neon lights are able to go beyond the deep darkness. The grim atmosphere would bring you an uneasiness far more dreadful if paired with the usually cold air, that becomes more noticeable by the lack of human heat. But not tonight, your last chore to do on your list was to change the cable in one of the basement's air conditioners.
You left this task to do last since it required you to go all the way to parts and service and retrieve the new cable, which is pretty long and heavy, entirely made out of metal. You have to use real muscle effort to even put it on the maintenance cart, the same one with the faulty wheel, because of course that was the only available one at the moment. Luckily for you, when you were loading it a mysterious tap on your back accompanied by these familiar bells was enough of a distraction for you to turn around and see it already loaded and good to go. "Thanks... How long have you been following me?" Moon remains silent except for the now faint sound of a snicker. Unamused, you roll your eyes, figuring that's just the way he decided to greet you tonight.
After a while of walking in silence the only sign of life that Moon gives out is a rhythmic ringing and by the time you reach the elevator it reminds you of certain tune. "See ya on the other side Star boy!" You say sarcastically, already knowing he'll be there even before the elevator was half on it's way there. Absentmindedly you start to hum to the tune on your head, not quite remembering the lyrics that well, while tapping your hands on the cart's handle along the ghost of a rhythm.
By the time the doors open you are loudly humming, forgetting for a second of your so called friend waiting for you just on the edge where the lights don't reach. A pair of bright red pupils center on you dissecting every single one of your movements, you on the other hand pay no mind, already used to the grim animatronic's antics. Still you make a mental note of where your companion is positioned, can't let your guard around him that easily now. You pull out your trusty Freddy (c) flashlight and start to make your way into the darkness, mindful of not letting the light reach him.
Maybe it was that you were already tired enough, or that you seemed lost for a second there, but whatever the reason was, Moon dropped down behind you and started to push the cart for you.
You were about to thank him again when he suddenly rushed past you with cart and all, only to disappear into the darkness. "Seriously? We were having such a good strike lately..." Silence is the only response you receive. "M-moon?" Again, nothing. You know he's just messing with you, if he wanted you hurt he'd already have done some pretty bad damage. Still the uneasiness from before grows, transforming into nervous energy. You really want to just turn back and call it a night, you think of lying to management and saying the cable got busted or something... But you're not gonna let him win this one. You're alone in the dark being silently haunted by a robot with homicidal tendencies, big deal! As if you hadn't done that before.
Gathering enough courage you straighten your posture and start to walk into the same route moon took off to just moments ago. You walk and walk trying to remember if the basement has always been this big, tho you atribute it mainly to the darkness in which you've found yourself sailing among. After a while of guessing and taking the wrong turns you finally reach the generators, but find no sign of your cart or Moon. Desperation starts to settle in. This was suppose to be the easy part, why couldn't things go your way just once?
You turn around and decide to go back to the elevator, not feeling like start to call out to the black abysm that surrounds you once again. But then you step on your shoe laces and face plant first into the floor as you let out a loud wail, your flashlight falls and rolls off somewhere. Defeated, tired and frustrated you just lay there, debating if you should get up and try again or just- wait to see what happens. You don't have enough time to decide tho as the ringing comes out of nowhere from within the darkness reaches for you and pulls you up by your hoodie like a cat. The same old red pupils scan you for a second, making sure you didn't actually hurt yourself.
"Clumsy brat". He scorns, seemingly disappointed you were not able to see in the dark like he does. "Assho-" He covers your mouth instantly, a bit harsh might you add "Watch it". He gently puts you down in your feet and without saying much else, he reaches for the cart and hands it over to you. "Thank you SO much". You almost scowl your words, making your best of efforts as to get back to work. You glance around but are unable to find your flashlight, it must have broken when it hit the floor as you're unable to locate it's light. "Great..." You pull out your phone and turn on the flashlight, still mindful of Moon not getting illuminated.
"Ok, let's see". As you start to disconnect the old heavy cable you start to hum once again, trying to lift your own spirits. The ghost of some of the lyrics comes to your mind but you can't quite make them out. So you decide to finally ask. "C-can you sing that song for me again?"
Moon freezes and blinks a couple of times, confused as all hell of whatever you're talking about. "L-last week, when we were at the arcade, you were singing... something. I've been having that song stuck in my head all day, but I can't remember how it goes..." After a moment of processing the newly acquired context he giggles mockingly and narrows his eyes. "I don't sing for bratty rulebreakers like you". You frown already half waiting a similar response, still, damn you for having the littlest of faith in him. "Do what you want then. I was just trying to ease the mood a bit, besides it's the least you could do for stealing my cart and cable!" You huff the last part, already done with his stupid little games. You sigh and resume your work.
For a while he doesn't move, he just stands there watching you struggle against the busted cable still attached to the generator's outlet. That is until you start to hear the faintest humming you've heard coming from him, slowly turning to singing the song you've been humming along all night.
.....
Man this came out waaay longer than intended, but honestly I couldn't think of a better context for Bam's Moon to actually entertain the thought (as of currently) of singing to the reader.
✨Thanks for the request!✨
(I'm still working on the other requests btw)

You glided through the trees alongside your team, adrenaline running through your veins.
Kicking yourself off a tree, you landed your body with ease onto a lone Titan spotted in the forest below you. With a swift swing of the blade, the Titan was on the ground.
Finished, you zipped yourself back into the air, joining your team member's formation as you all flew together.
"Y/N!" Captain Levi shouted, resent dripping off of his words. Here we go again. "Do not deviate from original course! We are here to scout, not to thrill seek."
The team came to a slow. They stood on the branches, overlooking the land beneath them.
"I was not thrill seeking, sir, I was doing my job," you defended, turning to Captain Levi. Though he was shorter than you were, his cold stare and unwavering demeanor intimidated you.
"Your job is to follow my orders, brat, not go off wandering like an idiot!"
"I didn't wander, I was quick to regroup! You're just finding a reason to take your anger out on me," you retorted. "Then again, I wouldn't be surprised. Considering your height, it's no wonder you can barely contain your anger in such a small body."
As much as he wanted to push you off the tree, Levi kept his poise.
By now the team could hear you and Levi's bickering, but considering they were used to it, they decided to butt out and focus on planning the route.
"Stable duty when we get back."
And then he walked away, leaving you fuming.
As you continued with the scouting mission, you encountered too many Titans that you couldn't just brush them off. Angry and left with no choice, Levi shouted orders to forget the original plan and fight back.
Out of the corner of your eye, you spotted two Titans approaching Jean and Armin with intent. You narrowed your eyes. This was your chance. You bolted off the tree, flying fast towards the two Titans. You got your gear out, ready to slice their napes, when one of the Titans looked your way, a sick smile on its face.
"Y/N!" Armin called out in a panic as the Titan extended its arm, swiping at you like a fly. Before its hand could collide with you, you were pushed out of the way by none other than Levi.
He wrapped his arms around you securely, one underneath your bottom and his other around your back. You heard him whisper a profanity, his hot breath fanning your neck as he spoke. Though it wasn't the time or the place, you couldn't help but let your mind wander.
You were brought back to reality when Levi glided deeper into the forest, setting you down onto the ground harsher than necessary.
Totally caught off guard, your back was shoved against a tree. Levi was quick to block your exits, predicting you would try to resist.
His arms caged you between him and the tree, leaving little to no distance between your bodies. You could feel your face get hot, either out of embarrassment or his body heat mixing with yours.
"What the hell is wrong with you, brat?!" Yelled Levi, eyes wild with rage. However, something felt different about this compared to when he scolded you for separating from the group. But you couldn't quite put your finger on it.
"Me?" You scoffed. "You're the crazy psycho who stole me away and cornered me in this forest!" You pushed at his chest, successfully shoving him off of you. "I had everything under control."
"You were almost killed! I can't have reckless people on my team. I'm a captain, not a babysitter, so get your shit together or get the hell off my team."
You stood against the tree quietly, Levi's venomous words stunning you into silence. Levi continued to stare deep into your eyes, his expression never changing. However, as the seconds passed, you saw a sliver of regret in his eyes, lasting only for a mere second.
You took a deep breath, trying to choose your words carefully. "I- Just.. Why do you hate me so much?"
Levi raised a brow while you continued to speak.
"I know I'm not the best fighter. Not compared to Misaka or Eren. But what did I do to deserve so much hatred from you? Even when I'm not doing anything wrong, you look at me like I'm the most disgusting person you've seen."
Despite feeling a sting of guilt at your words, Levi put on a dismissive act. "Tch, you're being dramatic. I'm not about to discuss this with you."
Why the fuck did he say that?
"Maybe if you listened to me for two damn seconds you wouldn't get such an earful."
Why is he being such an asshole? Gods, just tell them already. Stop this bullshit.
No longer finding it in you to care, you began to raise your voice, angry tears spilling down your face. "I try my best to make you like me. I try to show you that I'm capable and strong, but you still treat me as if I'm inferior. Like my skills are nothing. Like I'm nothing."
Emotionless, Levi replied, "Because you are. Look at you. You're a crybaby. You should've stayed back." Lies. All lies.
"Ugh- well maybe you should've just let me get killed since you despise me so much!"
With that, you grab your gear and zip away as far from Levi as possible, tears blowing out of your face and into the wind.
"Hey, where are you going?!"
You ignored him as you continued to speed through the trees, searching for your team. Your friends. Anybody.
"Y/N! Look out!"
You heard Eren shout, making you spin around frantically to search for the danger.
There it was.
An Abnormal ran your way, crawling like a dog on its hands and feet.
It had been chasing the team for a while now, evident in its animalistic, hungry look.
Steadily hanging off a branch, you watch the Titan from afar, then look back at the team.
"I'll distract it! You guys go!"
They looked at you as if you had grown two extra heads.
"You'll die!" Mikasa argued. "We can take it!"
"Just go!"
The Titan started to get closer. The team looked behind you, then back at you. Though they looked ready and determined to take it down, you knew they felt as terrified as you were. Fighting Titans was just something you don't think you'll ever get used to.
"Please be careful. We're gonna find Captain Levi!"
You nodded, then turned around, watching as the Titan ran towards you, totally disregarding the rest of the team.
"You want me? Come get me."
When you decided it was close enough, you darted into the forest and soared through the trees, only narrowly missing them. The Abnormal followed you, but hit itself on the trees and destroyed many in the process.
While the Abnormal continued to run through the forest, leaves and trees blocking its direct vision of you, you took a chance and turned back, flying past the Abnormal.
You did a quick u-turn and hopped onto its back.
You got it now.
As it chased after nothing, completely unaware, you slashed the nape of its neck.
With you still on its back, the Titan went limp mid-jump, falling onto the ground hard enough to create an earthquake. Unprepared for the collision, you went flying off its body.
Instead of bracing yourself for the fall, you frantically reached for your gear in an attempt to glide back up to the trees.
Before you got the chance, your body met with the ground, a loud thud echoing from the impact.
In the distance, the rest of the team continued to fight until they got to the very last Titan. Levi, though he was the last to regroup, helped effectively take down the Titans.
It wasn't evident in his stoic expression, but he searched among his surroundings and the faces of his team for you, afraid the worst had happened. Dammit, why did he have to be such an asshole? What Levi said to you, he meant none of it. But he feared he wouldn't get the chance to tell you that. Idiot.
"Is everybody here?!" Levi shouted as his team gathered around him.
"Yeah, we're alive-"
"Wait, where's Y/N?"
The team began to search among themselves, now becoming anxious as well.
"Well, where are they? Did you not see them at all?" Levi asked in a calm tone, despite his heart beat pounding in his ears. No. He wasn't going to slip up. Not here, not now. He needed to remain strong.
Mikasa spoke up. "We last saw them when we were being chased by an Abnormal! They offered to distract it and take care of it themselves."
Levi shouted, a crack in his voice, "And you let them?!"
"Y/N is strong! One of the best fighters we have here," Eld said. "They've probably already taken it down by now."
"Then where are they?!" Levi growled, becoming more frustrated by the second.
"Hey, look!" Armin yelled, shaking his finger towards the steam in the distance. "Eld was right! Y/N did kill it after all!"
Wasting no more time, Levi commanded the team to follow him. Soon again, they were up in the trees, running your direction. They stopped as soon as they came across a clearing in the forest where the Abnormal laid lifelessly.
"Everyone! Find Y/N!"
The team split, searching the area for any sign of you.
Levi dreaded the thought of finding you like they found the Titan. No. You killed it. You had to be alive.
Levi repeated that in his head. You had to be alive.
Because if you weren't, he wouldn't know what he would do.
Your eyes shot open at the sound of panicked screams echoing around you. You pushed yourself off of the ground in a rush, only to stumble back with an agonizing scream, pain shooting up the lower half of your body.
"Fucking hell! Oh shit," you fell back on the grass defeatedly, hot tears welling in your eyes at the intense pain and aches across your whole body. "Dammit!"
You didn't know which bones were broken, where you were, if you were bleeding out. So you just laid there alone, helpless and numb. Waiting.
Just when the team was beginning to lose hope, a blood curdling scream echoed throughout the forest, easily catching the team's attention. They headed towards the source of the sound, but Levi was the first on it, already sprinting through the forest to find you.
When he did, he felt his heart drop down to his stomach. You laid in a small clearing behind some old trees and bushes, a puddle of blood beneath your body. Your uniform was torn and your 3DMG was rendered useless at this point. If not for the scream, or the fast rise and fall of your chest, he would've mistaken you for being dead.
Levi rushed to your side and got onto his knees, lifting up your body into his arms.
"Y/N? Can you hear me? Y/N?"
You coughed, wheezing and struggling to make a coherent sound. Blood dripped down the corner of your mouth as you spoke, "You were right, Captain. I never stood a chance, did I?Shoulda just stayed." You laughed pitifully.
Now Levi was angry, but not at you. "Shut up! Don't say stupid shit like that! You're going to be okay."
The team found you, stopping short at the sight of Levi holding you carefully, like a porcelain doll, ready to break.
He didn't care anymore. He didn't bother to put up a front. Not when you were like this, half dead in his arms. He pressed his forehead to yours, whispering in your ear so only you could hear.
"I can't lose you too.."
Everyone else only continued to watch the intimate scene unfold before them.
When you fell unconcious, Levi squeezed his eyes shut, trying his best to keep his composure. Why was he acting like this? Usually he would be quick to solve problems without letting his feelings get in the way. Why was he so helpless now?
He turned around, scowling at the group who just stood by idly.
"Get over here and help them, you fools!"
You hated it. You hated having to be looked after or saved like a princess in a children's storybook. You didn't want to run away anymore, or simply stand in waiting, hoping for someone to rescue you. You were done being hunted. So you joined the Scouts after years of hard work and training. If you had only thought more carefully or put your parent's advice in consideration, you wouldn't be in your current situation, regretting ever joining Levi's team. You wouldn't have ended up in the infirmary.
You passed out in Levi's arms after suffering from injuries during your fight with the Abnormal Titan, according to your friends. They came by to visit you when the medic alerted them that you had woken up from your coma.
"How long was I out for?" You winced as you massaged your still pounding head. "When did I even get here?"
"You've been unconcious for two days. We retreated to the city as Captain Levi instructed and you've been under their care since," Eren answered. He noticed your demeanor as you looked around the room and picked at your skin, a nervous habit you recently formed. "Everybody's alive, so don't you worry."
"Where are they?"
"Well, they did have to receive medical attention since they got hurt, but they're okay! They miss you, ya know?" Armin said excitedly. "We'll make sure to fill you in on everything when you're out of here."
You pursed your lips. "Speaking of which, when will I be discharged?"
"You can't exactly walk right now, but.. you should be up and ready to go within a week! Then we can go on another mission and-"
"Eren. Armin. Mikasa." Your attention was torn away from Eren, your eyes darting towards the source of the voice.
"Captain Levi!" They all exclaimed in unison.
"I would like to speak with Y/N in private." He glanced at trio, his eyes narrowing. "Out."
The three walked out, heads bowed like sad little puppies. You waved at them as they went before turning to Levi who now stood by your bed.
"What do you want?" You asked bitterly, nose scrunching up in a sneer.
"Commander Erwin informed me of your decision," he spoke softly, differing from his usual cold tone.
You huffed. "Yeah, took your advice and resigned. You won't have to worry about babysitting me anymore."
A pang of guilt shot through Levi's heart, causing him to flinch. He hoped you didn't catch that.
He remembered his own regretful words as it replayed in his head. Just like your cries and pained expression, which he was unable to simply brush off, he couldn't forget how he mistreated you. And he would never forgive himself, either. The sight of your injured body laying there, all alone. He couldn't shake the scene off his mind, no matter how hard he tried. Even in his dreams.
Evident in his eyebags that seemed to have darkened in shade, he wasn't able to get much sleep the past couple days because of it.
"I take it you hate me, then," Levi suggested, prompting you to laugh mockingly.
"Oh, no, I could never," you said, sarcasm dripping off your voice as you fake fawned over Levi. "Levi Ackerman, Humanity's Strongest.. I just adore you."
Levi hid his offended expression and ignored your antics as he continued. "I was afraid I couldn't get the chance to apologize to you. When I found you there, I.." He squeezed his eyes shut and furrowed his brows together, forcing his tears not to fall. Why now?
"Yeah, well, you fucked up. About time you feel a little heartache," you mumbled, looking around the room, anywhere but Levi.
"A little?! Look, I'm trying to apologize here!" He shouted. "Do you have no idea how fucking terrified I've been for you, you brat?!"
"No, Captain Levi, so why don't you enlighten me on how much you care?!" You huffed, crossing your arms. "Because if you did, then maybe I wouldn't be bed ridden!"
Levi's face softened at the sight of a single tear escaping your eye. He took a seat on the bed beside you and reached out to brush away your tear.
With your quick reflexes, you caught his hand and pushed it back towards him.
"Don't you dare touch me. You've done enough damage, Levi. Just go and stop wasting my time."
Just like you, he was stubborn. He stood his ground.
"I-I'm sorry."
You let out an exasperated sigh. "You must think I'm stupid. No way I'm buying that bullshit."
"You need to stop pushing me away, Y/N!"
"What is that, an order?" You taunted. "You don't get to be sorry, Levi. It's too late for that. You waited for me to almost die just to tell me that? Is that what it takes? What if I hadn't survived? What then?"
"You don't think I haven't thought about that?! That's why I'm here!"
"Yeah, and who's fault is that?"
"You should've listened to me! I was trying to protect you!"
"Well thanks a lot. Now both my kneecaps are broken and I won't be able to walk for weeks!" You shake your head. "You think just because we shared a moment while I was dying that I'm okay now? Trust me, if I had the strength, I would have slapped you then and there."
"Then why don't you now?"
"At this point, you're not even worth getting angry over. So stop giving me that pitiful look. I really prefer you shouting at me instead. At least I'm used to it." You mumble the last part, but Levi catches it easily.
"That's it then, you leave me no choice." You look at Levi curiously. "You infuriate me, brat, you really do. You're so careless and oblivious all the time, you forget to look after yourself. And I'm not ready to watch you throw away your life so irrationally from the sidelines."
"So what are you trying to tell me, Levi?"
"Tch, you're just gonna make me say it, aren't you?" He takes a deep breath. "I'm not good at this, and I hate to admit it, to you of all people. It makes me mad to see you risk your life because I care about you.. and I can't lose you. I've dealt with too much death. I'll do whatever it takes to keep you alive, even if it means dying.." Levi trails off, then scoffs and crosses his arms like a petty little child. "I said it, all right? I like you-- A lot, you stupid brat!"
You searched Levi's eyes for any trace of dishonesty. You hoped he was lying, like he had some sort of script prepared before he came to see you. But you found no lies in his eyes.
You felt your heart break. All this time when you thought Levi just really hated you, he was looking out for you.
"I.. Why didn't you just tell me?" Your voice fell apart as you spoke. "I tried so hard to make you like me back.. And it hurt because I thought you just hated my guts. I had no idea."
"I know, I was being stupid too- It shouldn't have come to this," Levi admitted. "I.. I'll let you rest now."
Levi stood up to leave, but you were quick to pull him back onto the bed with you. Without letting him react, you grabbed his face and interlocked your lips with his. All the tension in his body disappeared and he melted into the kiss, throwing his arms around you tightly like he'd lose you if he ever let go. It wasn't a soft, romantic, movie perfect kiss. It was desperate, tongue and teeth, hands wandering, disheveling the other's hair. You released all of your built up anger and resent, letting it fuel you while you aggresively fought your tongue with his, a faint taste a hint of alcohol now on your own mouth. Occasionally you'd both break the kiss for short intakes of breath and small whispers like 'don't scare me like that again' and 'I've needed this for a while now'. You couldn't help but moan, earning a grin from Levi as he continued to hungrily devour your lips. Just as things escalated, you remembered you were still in the infirmary, and anyone could walk in any minute now. You slowly pulled away, your chest heaving as you panted for breath.
Levi couldn't help but twist his lips up into a little smirk. That was new.
"Well at least you're not a bad first kisser," he spoke nonchalantly, still gasping for air. You playfully punched him in the chest.
"Quite the romantic, aren't you?" You rolled your eyes but couldn't stop yourself from smiling like an idiot. "You're not bad either, old man."
Blush spread across his cheeks.
He took your hand in his, bringing it to his swollen and raw lips and placed a small kiss on your knuckles.
"Promise me you won't leave me again?"
"Promise," you sighed blissfully. "And I guess I'll have to tell Commander Erwin about my change of plans."
"Actually," a deep voice spoke. At the door, there stood none other than Commander Erwin. "I think I already know."

the real kara // kara danvers
summary: Kara gets affected by red kryptonite, but you don't know this, so to you, she just comes across really obnoxious and makes you uncomfortable
warning/s: i mean, i guess unwanted/uncomfortable advances?
author's note: this has been requested for a very long time now, so i hope it's okay! i’m still working on some wanda stuff, don’t worry x
masterlist | wattpad
Tumblr media
Something was different with Kara Danvers today, and as I waited for my files to finish photocopying, I watched her from a distance, wondering what it could be.
Apart from the obvious, which was that she was wearing completely different clothing – a tight dress that was very different compared to her usual assortment of blouses and cardigans – she had a completely different aura about her.
One of the things I liked about her the most was her awkwardness, her humour and her clumsiness. She was adorable, the human embodiment of a puppy, but today she just... exuded confidence. Of course, that wasn't a bad thing, but it was just very unlike her.
As I returned my attention to the photocopier, I failed to hear the girl in question approaching me. Only when she appeared next to me did I notice her. The fact that she came out of nowhere made me jump, startled by both her presence and the fact that I had a giant crush on her so any attention from the blonde was near enough sending me into cardiac arrest.
"I did not mean to startle you," she said, leaning against the wall with a smirk. "Though, you're cute when you're scared."
Heat creeped up my neck as I looked back down to the photocopier. Did she just say that? Never before had she obviously flirted with me – I didn't even think she liked me like that – so I didn't know what to do other than stay quiet.
"You know, I've been feeling your eyes on me all day," she noted, and I suddenly felt embarrassed as her blue eyes watched me with amusement. "C'mon, Y/N. You're really not gonna give me any attention now that I want it?"
Swallowing hard, I looked up to see her watching me with a knowing smile.
"I wasn't staring," I defended terribly. "Just looking around. You happened to be in my eye-line is all."
She grinned. "Really? Well, I'd quite like to be in your eye-line a lot more if you'd let me."
Taken aback, I raised my eyebrows. "Er– I– er–"
"Look, I actually came here to ask you something," she said, straightening up and moving to stand behind me, looking over my shoulder at the photocopies in my hand. "As fun as it is watching you make a mess of yourself, which I completely get by the way, I wanted to ask if you'd go on a date with me tonight."
My mouth went dry as her breath tickled my neck. Never in my year and a half of working alongside Kara had I seen her act so cocky and confident and certain. I wasn't sure if I liked it.
"Don't stay silent on me now, Y/N," she said, her voice sweet and sultry in my ear, sending shivers down my spine. "I only want to give you a good time."
I widened my eyes a little, glancing her way. She chuckled when she saw my expression, her hand resting on the small of my back as she stepped beside me.
"Not like that," she said dismissively, before her eyes looked me up and down. "Unless you want to go down that route... in which case I'm all ears."
Cheeks flushed and heart racing, I collected my photocopies and straightened up, feigning some form of assertiveness as I met her teasing smile and dark eyes.
"I don't know what's gotten into you today, Kara, but it's not appropriate," I told her, thankfully not trembling under her piercing stare. "I– just– don't speak to me."
Without another word from either of us, I pushed past her and stormed off, partially angry and partially upset that she had treated me so... so... sleazily. Kara was sweet, she was kind, she was thoughtful. Whoever that was back there wasn't the Kara I fell for. And she certainly wasn't one I wanted to get to know.
The next day, it was as if a switch had been flicked and regular Kara was back. I didn't understand how or what had happened to her, but as soon as I saw her stumble out of the elevator that morning, coffees in hand and hair dishevelled from rushing, I knew whoever was present yesterday was gone. But that still didn't change the fact that she'd treated me so wrongly.
I was sat at my desk, working on an article at my computer, when I saw a smudge of pink in my peripheral. Turning to look who it was, I frowned when I saw Kara approaching me, eyes apologetic and hands fumbling by her side. She was wearing a pink jumper over her blouse – back in her usual outfits, clearly.
As I turned to look the other way, not in the mood to talk to her, she stepped forward quickly.
"Y/N, please hear me out," she said, but I rolled my eyes in response, hoping she'd get the hint. She didn't. "I'm so sorry for the things I said to you yesterday."
I clenched my jaw, but my hands stopped typing as I looked down at the keyboard patiently.
"I was having a very... off day yesterday. And I know that's no excuse for how I treated you, but I'm so sorry." She paused, swallowing hard, before shaking her head. "I'm so sorry for making you feel uncomfortable. I'd never want that."
Unable to stop myself, I looked up to her. She seemed genuine, lips pulled into a frown and eyes tinged with sadness.
"If you wanted to ask me out, why would you go about it like that?" I asked, disappointedly. "In what world would I respond to something like that?"
She looked up, helpless, as she shrugged her shoulders. "I... I don't know. I just– I thought I would try something different. But I never meant for it to happen like that. You have to believe me."
I wanted to, but then the discomfort from yesterday's conversation returned and I was forced to look away from her.
"I did want to ask you out on a date though," she said quietly, hesitantly, as if afraid to say it at all. "Properly. If you want to go with me, that is."
Looking down to my desk, unintentionally coldly, I said, "If old Kara had asked me, then maybe I would have said... I'm not really sure I like this new Kara."
She paused, and I finally lifted my gaze to see she was nodding slowly, already taking a step back and avoiding my eyes.
"Right, yeah, of course," she spoke gently. "I understand." Forcing a small smile my way, she said, "Sorry, again. I'll, er, I'll see you around."
I watched her leave, noticing the way she mumbled to herself and clenched her fists as she did. I wondered if I'd made the right decision.
It was two days later when I got the bouquet at my desk after lunch. I wasn't expecting anything of the sorts, so of course, I eagerly found the card and read it in my head whilst ignoring my coworkers' curious stares.
Hey, Y/N.
Just wanted to apologise once again. And no, this isn't me asking you out. It's just a way to say sorry for acting like an idiot. I hope we can still remain friends. Or at least, I hope you don't hate me.
Kara x
Lowering the card, I looked at the bouquet of fresh flowers, heart aching in my chest. Over the past two days, the blonde-haired assistant had kept her distance from me, opting to stay away and avoid my presence, no doubt for my own comfort. Whenever I'd catch her gaze in the hallway or accidentally, she'd smile sadly, apologetically, before looking away as quickly as she could.
She was still her usual self, the usual self before the other day that is. This made me think that maybe she really was just having an off day. And now that she'd gotten me these flowers... I really wanted to go on a date with Kara. The real Kara and not the overly-confident, obnoxious Kara.
I left to find her as soon as I could. She was sat at her desk outside of Miss Grant's office, writing on her tablet and heavily focused in whatever task she was doing.
As I approached her, I took note of the way she chewed on her lip and furrowed her brows with concentration, smiling to myself because that was the Kara I had fallen for. The Kara I missed.
"Hey," I said when stopping by her desk.
She looked up, eyebrows raising with surprise. "Y/N. Hi! Hi. What can I–? Do you–? Hi."
"I got your flowers," I cut straight to the point, surprised at how certain I sounded compared to my usual introverted, shy self. "And the card."
She stood up, hands fumbling with nervousness once again. Clearing her throat, she said, "I'm sorry if it was too far. I just wanted to make things right."
"I'll go on a date with you," I blurted, making her look up with wide eyes immediately. Breathing out slowly, I continued, "I'd like to go on a date with you. This you, though. Not the other you."
She nodded slowly, looking as if she was still letting my words sink in. Suddenly, a small smile tugged at her lips.
"I'd like that," she said softly. "Maybe we can pretend the other day never happened and start again?"
I returned her smile, nodding. "I'd like that."

To Hell & Back
Part Two: “Lucky for me, your kind of heaven’s been to hell & back”
Tumblr media
Summary: You still hate Bucky. But you need him to keep you from going to jail... So, what’s the harm in inviting him over to dinner?
Prompt: “I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.”
Warnings: Angst?? (i think). Probably typos( which will be fixed). Implied violence.
Pairings: Bucky Barnes x Reader
--
Part one [In case you missed it]
----
It's Saturday.
Your day off. Well, what used to be your day off until it was turned into a family therapy session.
Well... Not an actual therapy session. It is literally just dinner with your family, including your sister's husband - a man you refuse to identify as your brother in law for reasons that will end in you being called the j-word. The husband, because he's the only son-in-law your parents have, has been dubbed the "referee" of the Saturday Sessions.
Each session, since you've been discharged, has made committing murder seem more and more appealing.
So appealing, that you're standing in front of your neighbour's door with a basket of muffins and a please-keep-me-from-committing-felonies smile.
Bucky, because he just spent the afternoon searching for a new bar, is standing on the other side of the door. Both confused and frightened to see you at his door voluntarily.
"Is there a bomb in that basket?" He asks, eyes roaming over you suspiciously. "Believe me, it's not gonna work."
You blink at him, then at the basket. Then back at him. "Why would I put a bomb in a muffin basket and then hold it?"
He raises a sceptical eyebrow at you.
You huff. "Fine, they're poisoned. I accidentally added laxatives while making them-"
"Accidentally?"
"Yes, accidentally-" you glare at him. "-they're not for you. They're from us."
He blinks at you, confused. You haven't spoken to him, actually spoken to him, for a few months. You avoid him like he has a disease and when your paths do cross, you just glare at him like he threw your cat into on coming traffic.
It's been a few days since the coffee machine incident. He has a brand new one - better than the last one - sitting on his kitchen counter, waiting for him to develop the courage to give it to you. It should be easy. He has mastered the art of making amends.
But... He can't, for some reason, bring it to you.
"Wait-" he frowns, your words finally registering in his head, "-did you just say from us?"
You set the basket down. "So, remember when you broke my one shot at happiness?"
"Oh god." He forgot how dramatic you are, as well.
"Yeah, you can fix that little error by being a doll and-" you pause, then frown, struggling to find the right words.
"Muffin poisoned your tongue?"
"I'm trying to ask you to be my plus one for tonight's dinner-" you grit your teeth, your blood beginning to boil. "-at my parents house."
You didn't look him in the eye when you said that. And by the sounds of it, he doubts this is something he should be going to. Or something you should be going to. Not if it brings out this side of you.
"Who are the muffins for?"
They were for your sister. You broke her nose last week, which was never your intention, and the guilt has been eating you up alive since. The punch was meant for her asshole husband.
"You coming or not?"
"Let me grab a wine and the keys."
"We have muffins. No need to waste your good wine on mediocre tastes."
"I'm bringing the wine."
"If you make us stop to pick out flowers, I will watch porn with the volume on full blast every night for a week."
"Why are you always so violent?"
--
"So, how bad is it?" Bucky asks.
You've been in the car for a half an hour, because you chose the busiest route and the most congested during rush hour, and that's the first thing either of you have uttered since you politely dragged him out of his apartment.
You shrug. "Three roads lead to this one, so we'll be here another half hour."
"I mean the situation-" he drums his fingers against the wheel. "-you literally chose to be in a car with me, for the longest time possible. Either you want to get there late or you don't want to get there at all."
"Maybe I just like spending time with you."
Bucky scoffs, but doesn't question you further.
The car is silent, aside from the traffic outside, and you could almost relax. For just a moment, you could close your eyes and imagine you're somewhere else.
But you can't. Because you're not. You're on your way to a dinner that shouldn't be happening and is only happening because you're part of your neighbour's redemption list.
Because he just had to have a conscious.
"I punched my sister last week," you mumble.
Bucky wants to laugh. He wants to laugh so badly. He has met your sister, a handful of times - at the hospital, outside your room and outside your apartment door.
Every time she'd come over, she would knock hard enough to make him think she's part of SWAT team. And each time, he would could hear you scramble to switch off all devices that could alert her of your presence inside.
One time, you'd both arrived a few minutes after each other. His door was closer and already open, so you shoved your grocery in his hand and dived into his apartment to hide from your sister. He had to pretend he hasn't seen you since you left for work , and that the packet of sanitary pads that fell out were for his girlfriend.
He didn't have one.
He wants to laugh, because he doesn't like her at all. But he doesn't, because she's your sister. "What did she do?"
"She married an asshole-" you scoff. "-and decided to get in the way and I tried to punch said asshole."
At this, he grins. "And you need me there because?"
"I need you to keep me from trying to kill him," you begrudgingly admit. "I'm too high maintenance for prison."
"How bad is this guy that you need me to help you not kill him?"
"Bad enough that I'm gonna need you to park a few blocks away from the house," you turn to look at him, his confused eyes meeting yours for a quick second. "I told them we're taking the bus."
"Wow."
"Which means we only get to spend less than two hours there, if you drive a little slow-" you pause when he drives passed a McDonald's. "-hey, can we stop and get milkshake?"
He deadpans. "We have dinner plans with your parents."
"I get that you and them might have gotten along since you decided to be a hero," you glare at him. "But they're not as cool as the hospital visits made them seem."
Your parents have invited him over to dinner a handful of times, and each time he had to decline. You and him weren't on the best of terms, and he didn't want to make things worse by showing up for dinner without your knowledge.
He knows, first hand, that a few interactions aren't enough to give the full depth of a person. But he saw how devastated they were, how heartbroken they were, at the sight of tubes and needles sticking out of you.
He doesn't believe, he can't believe, for a second that they're as bad as you say they are.
But he won't argue with you. Not about this. "We'll get milkshake after."
"Hey, remember that coffee machine you br-"
"Oh, fuck you!"
***
You're not a fan of wine. At least, not the wine Bucky brought to the dinner.
An hour into the dinner and you've already had enough glasses to have Bucky worried. The wine is halfway to empty by the time dessert rolls in, and when your sister's husband clears his throat, you abandon the glass and drink straight from the bottle.
The second hour into the dinner is where things got interested. Interesting enough for Bucky to take the bottle from you before you could throw it at someone's head. Mainly because he wanted to throw it at someone's head. Your sister's husband's head to be specific.
Just as your mother gets up to start making tea for the muffins you brought, Bucky is the first on his feet and the first to use the 'we have to get going before we miss the bus' excuse.
You grin at him, vision slightly hazy from the wine you drank on an empty stomach.
"Mhmm," you hum as you cling into him to get to your feet, "the bus. We gotta- the bus. Bah-yeee."
"I'll make sure she gets home safe," he promises to your parents and they believe him.
Hell, you believe him. If there's one thing you can trust your neighbour to do, it's to save your life. But not your coffee machine.
He guides back to the car, which is parked exactly where you told him to, and he's never been happier to have listened to you. You sing all the way back, some ridiculous song about when you're fat and old, and you're the most content he's ever seen you.
Drunk off wine, eyes glassy and smile wide, as you try to mimic his steps. You sigh when you get into your seat, even though you fight him on opening your own door, and fumble lazily with your seat belt until he helps you clip it in.
Your struggle to find a comfortable position, but forget all about that when he parks the car outside your favourite coffee shop. You're out before he can even unclip his seatbelt and you're inside before he makes it to the door.
"Hi," you whisper-yell as you lean against the counter. "Pssst. Hi. Hello."
The barista blinks at you. Bucky cuts in before he can get a word out. "We'll take coffee. Filter. And anything that's bread-"
"-don't listen to him, he breaks hearts for a living. Sometimes he rips them out." I jab your pointer finger against the countertop. "I will take the strongest coffee you've got. I'm in the mood for bad decisions and-"
"We'll be at the booth, in the back." Bucky gently pries you from the counter. "One coffee and two bottles of water-"
You try to smack his hands away. "Why must you be so- Barnes, I swear to god, I will take your parking space."
He shoves you into the booth, then takes a seat opposite you. You attempt to make a break for the counter, but the glare he fixes you with is enough to keep you in your place.
It should scare you. The look he gives you. You know what he is capable of, without mad scientists to control him, you know the damage he's done. It takes a special kind of strength to face people like the flag smashers, and a special kind of crazy to go after them.
Bucky is both. And yet, his glare doesn't scare you. So much so, that you return it.
"I hate your brother-in-law-"
"Sister's husband," you cut in to correct him. "I refuse to recognise him as my anything."
He nods. "Right. So, let me get this straight-"
Bucky pauses as the barista sets down the coffee, the water, two croissants, some breadsticks and a garlic roll. When he's satisfied that there's nothing else, he leaves you alone with Bucky and the breads.
"You got work tomorrow-" he puts sugar into your coffee and stirs, before handing it to you. "-so you're gonna need to eat as much, so that it absorbs all that wine."
You glare at him but still do as he says. He's right and you'd rather sulk than admit it.
"So," he clears his throat to get your attention. "Your sister is an asshole, that married an asshole. And your parents are enablers of all that bullshit?"
You nod, practically shoving the garlic bread into your mouth. You didn't touch the food your mother cooked and, other than that milkshake Bucky bought you, you haven't had anything to eat all day.
"Instead of just sending you to therapy-" he scrunches his face in disgust at the thought. "-I can't fucking believe I'm advocating for that, but instead of paying for therapy. They do that? Host a dinner, sit a circle and kumbaya the problems away?"
Taking a sip from your coffee, you continue to nod. "Is it helping?"
He frowns, meeting your eyes. "What?"
"The mandated sessions-"you swallow. "-I heard you and Wings talking about it."
Thin walls. Shared balconies. Despite not being in each other's life, both of you know more than enough because of your apartments.
Your balcony and his are separated by a small barrier, but you can still hear his conversations - and visa versa- if you leave your glass door open enough when he's out there.
The wall that separates your apartment is thin enough for him to pick up on your habits. You don't think you're a creature of habit, but he would disagree.
He can tell, just from your foot steps, what you're going to watch or do in the living room. From the little sounds you make, he can tell which series you're binge watching for the umpteenth time and which one is on just for background noise.
If you weren't a creature of habit, he wouldn't have found you in time. You wouldn't be sitting in front of him, asking about his wellbeing, instead of dealing with yours.
"Wings is Captain now," he corrects, and you accept the deflection.
You would never overstep, or push. Not with him. Never with him.
"If Captain, why Wings?"
Narrowing his eyes, he pushes the bread sticks closer to you. "Fine, Captain Wings."
Again, you obey the silent instruction.
"Where were we-"
"We were plotting an asshole's abduction," you tell him, "and then dropping him off at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean. If that's not available, then maybe near Dyer Island."
He raises an eyebrow at you. “Why would we drop your sister’s husband on an Island?”
"It's a place, with a shitload of great white sharks."
"And you know this because?"
"I like to always be prepared."
"For what?" His brows furrow. "Do you just know random places to dump people that–"
You cut in. "–will lead to an inevitable death by natural causes? Yes."
He stares at you. Actually stares. Openly, at you. He can't remember the last time he did that, looked at you, for no other reason than to just look.
You didn't always hate him. When he first moved into your apartment building, and the landlord introduced you too, you were indifferent. He didn't think you knew who he was, most people don't at first glance, so he was relieved. Indifference was definitely better than everything else.
That was until you walked passed him and Sam in the lobby of the building, a week after he moved in.
"Sarge–" you nodded at him, as you checked your mail. Then nodded at Sam as you made your way out of the building. "–Wings."
You knew, you always knew who he was, and just didn't care. That was refreshing, to say the least.
The hate only came that night, or the following morning, he wasn't sure. All Bucky knows is, he meddled, and now you hate him for it. For saving you.
He's tried to talk to you about it. Countless of times, he's tried, and each time you hate him a little bit more. Or so it seems.
He wants to talk about it now. It's obvious in the way he's looking at you, like he can't believe you're here, in front of him. You can't either, but you won't ever admit that to him.
Hell would sooner freeze over before you actually admitted that maybe, just maybe, he should have meddled sooner.
You won't. So, instead, you put down the bread stick and sit back. "I know a really cool coffee place... If you still need a new place to hang."
It's an olive branch. You don't ever say what you really mean, he knows that, and he smiles at that little fact. That he knows that, he knows you.
"Is the barista as dramatic as I hear?"
"Only to strangers that break down her doors," you shrug. "Oh, and guys who break her coffee machine–"
"You're never gonna let that go, are you?"
You grin. Because you're just as petty as he is.

Find the Word Tag Game
I was tagged by @drabbleitout! Thanks <3
The words they gave were: Grace, Game, Guess, Gift & Groan. Again this is from The Ruby Falls.
Grace
The grey light of dawn found Aderyn on the blustery deck sharing small talk and a pack of croissants with a fellow smoker before they parted ways and she was rolling off into the Netherlands, the GPS chirping brightly about the route ahead.
Slowly the landscape faded from industrial greys to open green fields, dotted with copses of trees serving as windbreaks. Mist from an intermittent mizzle wreathed the grassy verges, lending Aderyn's rush to Kvatch a sense of dreamy freedom. The landscape rolled out around her, the open road urging her on with teasing grace, bringing a flush of joy to her freckled face, despite the reason for her travel.
Game
Aderyn climbed into the Land Rover, the wound across her back complaining bitterly. The medic had said she was healing nicely, but everything ached, and the wounds stung. She slung the backpack and laptop into the back of the Land Rover and buckled herself in. She was reaching under the dash to hotwire the car, when the passenger door opened and Martin climbed in. "What- What d'you think you're doing? Get out!" Aderyn cried. In response, the man plugged his seat belt in. "Marti!" Aderyn tried again, distraught. "So. Where are we going?" he replied with infuriating calm. "We aren't going anywhere." "You're clearly planning on going somewhere. Which means I'm coming with you. You have dressings that need changing, and you won't be able to manage the one on your back by yourself. I thought we might save Baragon some trouble." "You can't-" Aderyn took a breath, trying to steady her voice. "Martin, I need you to get out of the Landy. Right now. Please. Director Preston asked me to deal with something, and I- You can't tag along. It's for your safety." "And what about your safety?" "What?" "You're still heavily injured. This isn't a video game, where you're healed in just a snap of the fingers. Aderyn, you can't go out into the field in this state." Martin frowned. "Jauffre should know better." "Yeah. Well. It's urgent, innit. Don't got the luxury of waiting." "If it's so urgent, why can't he send another of the Blades?" "Dunno," Aderyn muttered at her hands. "Didn't ask." "You weren't curious?" "No! Just drop it. Alright? It don't matter anyway. Just... Get out the car." "It matters to me!"
Guess
Aderyn left the shop to find the rain had finally stopped. Waterlogged sunlight streamed down into the street, and Aderyn wandered down it to get a meal at the Cheydinhal Bridge Inn. Lunch was a hefty portion of chunky tomato soup with a cheese and ham toastie. As she ate, she sent Jauffre a text to say she was all done and would be on her way back shortly.
Her phone buzzed, 'Marti' on the caller ID. Aderyn sighed at it. She picked it up, but hesitated, not wanting to have to speak to him. "Hey." "Aderyn." He sounded unsure of himself for a moment, unsure how to act. "Darling, I'm so sorry to have sent you off on a wild goose chase, but I'm afraid I don't need the manual anymore. One of my other contacts on that bulletin board told me what I was missing, and I've managed to get the Mysterium Xarxes to switch on." "Oh. Great," Aderyn said, trying to sound enthusiastic. It fell flat, and she screwed up her eyes. "I guess I'll head back then?" "Actually..." Martin paused. "Are you still in Cheydinhal?" "Yeah?" "Could you see if that bookshop has any books on code-breaking?" "Sure." She pressed a hand to the centre of her forehead. "But Martin, there's a lot of different cyphers out there. I'm gonna need more than 'code-breaking' to go on."
Gift
"Um. So what do I owe you for this?" "Sorry?" Martin looked over his shoulder. "Well, like, you bought all this stuff... And, you know, maybe you're gonna take the duvet and stuff, – which is totally your right, Padre – but I must owe you something for the food at least?" Martin still looked lost. "No? As I said, making you a, what... forty pence bacon butty is the least I can do. And no, I don't intend to take back the duvet and other things. They're yours. That sleeping bag is not the most comfortable thing. And if we end up sleeping on the road again, I'd rather we both had adequate covers." "But... Like... You gotta want something for them?" "No. They are a gift. You saved my life, Ms Griffiths – or is it Williams? Regardless. You owe me nothing; if anything it is I who owe you everything."
Groan
[Aderyn] woke the next day at noon, aching all over, thirsty, and with a monster headache. There were also three missed calls from her mother, another five from Martin, alongside a dozen texts from both of them. One from Uncle Modryn. A missed call from Director Preston, along with a few texts saying where Baurus was and what condition he was in; and finally a voice mail from The Grey Fox inquiring, in that pointed 'I'm actually really pissed at you' polite tone of voice, as to her health. It was then she also noticed the hammering on her door which had woken her. She rolled out of bed and looked through the peephole to see who it was. She barely suppressed a groan. Severus Quintus. She left the chain on and opened the door a crack. "Can I help you, officer?" "You can start with letting me in." "Do you have a warrant?" She asked cooly, just as her uncle had taught her to. "This is a chat. I don't want to ransack your room." "Let me get something on, I'm still in my PJs here." He blinked. "It's nearly one in the afternoon." "I had a late one last night," she said and shut the door in his face. She looked around and pulled on some sweatpants and a hoodie that, once they were on, she realised where actually Baurus' Fuck it, she thought, grabbing the room keys and stepping into the corridor. She deliberately locked the door behind her. "What do you want?"

Thru the Window- Joe x Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(prompt: you're living in the Netherlands with the Def Leppard crowd while they're recording Hysteria. You're Joe's girlfriend, but you're both trying to keep your relationship a secret)
Inspired by the song "Thru the Window" by REO Speedwagon (a song about this ever so classic and adorable trope. I also tried to use as many of these lyrics as possible :3D)
------
(June 1986)
Joe's eyes shifted over to the clock on his nightstand yet again after another five seconds had passed. He just couldn't help himself. It was 11:22, and 11:35 couldn't possibly come soon enough. A warm breeze blew through his open window, hitting the bottoms of his feet as he lay flat on his back. There was adrenaline pulsing through him so ardently that he tried to will it away, but it was no use. He was too excited, and he had to wait at least another ten minutes or so before he could act on it.
His eagerness had certainly slowed down time itself tonight, and it had definitely gotten the better of him in multiple ways.
For one thing, his leg wouldn't stop bouncing. For another thing, he'd gotten changed far too early, and was laying on his bed in his date clothes. His "date clothes" (being a rather unflattering combination of a Cheap Trick t-shirt tucked into some sweatpants) weren't meant to be anything to look at, but he wanted to be as casual as possible. The goal was to be unrecognizable (as much as you could be at this time of night), but pleasing.
Either way, Joe knew you wouldn't mind it. To him, these 'dates' you two had weren't done for the looks. You saw each other enough that you didn't give a shit about proper attire.
Joe's hands were neatly and formally folded on his stomach as he stared up at the dark ceiling of his hotel room. With nothing to distract him, his mind was on the verge of running mad. There were so many things he could've been thinking about as he waited, such as the tremendous progress that had been made in recording the new album, whether or not the jukebox at the pub got fixed yet, or what he'd have for breakfast the next morning.
What he actually chose to think of was "Why did I turn off the light, again?"
Some answers were quite simple.
"Oh yeah. Cos' to everyone else I'm 'asleep' right now."
The light being off was just a small but vital detail to the plan you two had for the night.
Once his own question was answered, his mind moved onto the next topic: another five seconds had passed. Joe turned his head to look at the clock again. 11:23. Great.
His head angled back upwards, seeing the imaginary dots and waves of colors appear before his eyes in the dark. His leg still bounced, his hands began to weave together, and he closed his eyes to hum the first tune that came to mind. It was necessary to drown out the sound of the ticking clock in his head.
Joe inhaled slowly, and held the breath for a quick instant. Just ten more minutes, he told himself. Ten more minutes, and then he could go. Ten more minutes. Ten. Two sets of five. Five sets of two. Just ten more-
"Fuck it," he lowly said as he sat up and put on his shoes.
Oh well. These dates weren't about being on time, either. 'On time' was late, after all. He wanted to decide when the time had come.
After slipping on his shoes, double checking that he had his wallet, and triple checking that his door was locked, Joe pushed open the window sash to create a more ideal opening to slip through. Into the darkness he went, out onto the fire escape, then he descended to the ground below. He began on the second floor, so each step lower was done with the utmost caution.
When he reached the next level, his heart jumped upon seeing the light still on in Malvin's room. Flattening himself next to the window, Joe carefully climbed over the railing of the fire escape and lowered himself down until it was safe enough to let go.
His feet met the ground, making a firm landing. He looked back up at the lit window and grinned under the open summer sky. He'd slipped away like a thief in the night.
Joe's legs began to move, trotting to the other side of the hotel (the side by the lake), and feeling the warm breeze rushing by his face. He couldn't help but smile; all his pent-up adrenaline was finally being put to use.
As always, he made sure to race for the shadows of the building to make a trail no one could follow. He was always beyond careful, making sure nobody would ever see or hear his driven intentions. It was better that no one knew. It was more fun that way for both of you.
Your silhouette became clear to him once he reached the other side, your window now visible on high. Joe slowed his run until he was a few yards from the base of the hotel. His head angled up to your room, taking note of the dim light from within. You weren't facing the window, but Joe knew you were waiting for him on this summer night.
He could've sworn he sensed your excitement, too; he could practically hear your heartbeat. It may have been his own heightened sparks of joy pounding in his ears- as he knew he was unarguably early. Still, date night was date night, and the singer was eager to kick things off. There was no time to lose. It was time to announce his arrival.
After reaching down into the grass and locating a small stone, Joe found a trajectory from where he stood, and flung his attention getter up at your window.
***
Your eyes shifted over to the clock on your nightstand once another five minutes had passed. It was 11:27, and 11:35 was just around the corner. Smiling, you turned back to your mirror and leaned forward, finishing up the last bit of your makeup. A warm breeze blew through your open window, lifting thin strands of your hair up to slightly flutter in front of your eyes.
It was true that you didn't need to dress up in any way, but your excitement had gotten the better of you. The plans for the night urged you to be dolled up at least a little bit. Who cared if it was going on midnight? You were still going out on a date, and you were still going to be in public. Some jeans and a crop top were just right for the occasion- with it being a warm and breezy night. The outfit was casual enough for the pub that you and Joe called your own, but flattering enough that you knew Joe would love it.
You drew back from the vanity and admired your appearance. Tonight would be great without a doubt. All there was left to do was wait for the man of the hour. Maybe you'd wait at the window and-
The sound of something landing behind you grabbed your attention. You turned and looked to the floor, spotting a small stone. Your eyes squinted from confusion, but your mouth angled into a smile.
To the window you went, and you gazed outside, seeing Joe down on the lawn below.
"Really?" you gently scoffed at him.
He looked a bit embarrassed, "Sorry! I didn't see it was open 'til it was too late..."
You chuckled and shook your head, turning back to stuff your wallet into your pocket and to switch off your lamp. With your room now dark, and your door locked, you slipped away through your own window, and made your way down your own fire escape.
Joe held out his hand once you were within reach, and led you down the remaining stairs.
You told him, "You're early."
He immediately retaliated, "You're lucky."
"How?"
"You don't have any acquaintances living below you," he tilted his head sweetly, "When I climbed down just now, Malvin was still awake. He could've caught me, you know..."
You rubbed your thumb over his hand and scoffed, "I doubt that- you're too sneaky."
"Could say the same about you, you know," he teased back, placing his other hand on your waist and moving in closer.
"That's why we're a good fit," you declared before moving your hand to the back of his head and kissing him. Another breeze blew around you both as he locked you in the embrace.
When it was broken, he quickly stepped back and pulled on your arm, urging you to come along jokingly, "Now quick, before anyone sees-"
He dragged you forward, adding, "I've got a good feeling the jukebox is gonna be fixed tonight!"
You laughed as you began to run next to him, both of you now running freely through the night in the open street. The energy between both of you was high, making it a thrill to be alive in that moment. Such high emotion was bound to make the date night better than it'd ever been, taking you both where you'd never been before.
Yes, you could have taken one of your cars, but then there would've suddenly been a higher chance of someone seeing that at least one of you was gone. It was just another minute detail to ensure the safety of your plan. Even the pub you and Joe normally went to was one that the others probably didn't even know existed.
The route to get there was a simple one; you always liked to say that it was "over the bridge, five blocks east, and down a dirt road that is barely a street". You were both still running when you ran over the bridge, eager to get to your relationship's safe haven. It was only when you reached said bridge that you slowed to a normal walk.
You hugged Joe's arm, laughing and panting as you crept around the neighborhood "It's such a perfect night- I'm so glad we planned a date tonight."
"Yeah, couldnt've asked for anything better," he grinned up at the stars, "We made an easy getaway, too."
"Not often we get nights like these. Remember the night you were in my room and Phil almost came in?"
Joe cackled up at the sky, recalling, "Ah- yeah, can never forget that one. We barely got away with that one. How did he not hear me talking?"
"I have no idea, but I've never hidden someone that fast in my life- let alone someone as big or as naked as you were."
"Oi!" he whined, "You want a date or not?"
You giggled and rested your head against his arm, "I'll behave, I swear."
"Good, cos' the fun hasn't even started yet," he warned, tenderly putting his other hand on your arm. In a few minutes, the dirt road was in sight, looking like a familiar and secret setting of a dream. At the end of the street, the glowing lights of the secluded pub were now visible.
"I'll race you," you smirked before bolting away from Joe and down the street.
Instantly, he bolted after you, "Hey!"
He caught up quickly (his long legs being an advantage), and stopped you by gripping the back of your shirt. He did his best to take you in his arms, but tripped in the process, sending you both down to the dirt at an angle. You both hit the ground laughing, rolling onto your backs and cackling up to the summer stars.
"Sorry-" Joe huffed. You both paused for a second or two, then he rolled over to quickly straddle and pin you to the ground.
"What are you doing?" you laughed at him, as if you didn't already know. He stroked your hair back with a loving smile, leaning down and softly kissing you. He was tender for only that second before kissing his way down to your neck, making you squirm underneath him.
"Ah- Joe!" you squealed, your face flushing up, "Cut it out! We're outside-!"
"Oi!" a different voice sounded off not so far away. You both turned your heads to see the owner of the pub standing out on the front porch, sending a parental scowl at the pair of you.
"Adrian- he's mad, I tell you!" you adopted a fake tone of helplessness.
"She started it," Joe blamed with a smirk.
"You two again, huh?" Adrian scolded you, "I'll be having no filthy business at the porch of my pub, you hear? Save it for the pool room."
"Yes, dad," Joe whined, shooting a cranky scowl down at you, rolling off and helping you up. You hit him on the arm playfully, him flinching at first, then putting his arm back around you. You both faced Adrian and began to walk up to the porch.
"I haven't seen the pair of you for almost 2 weeks, what's happened with ya?" he asked.
You answered, "Ah, studio troubles."
"And you're still keepin' this a secret, I take it?"
"It's the way we like it! It's more fun that way," Joe told him, " 'Our little secret' keeps the adrenaline going. Is the jukebox working again?"
"Been working since last week," Adrian's eyes followed you both as you edged closer, "Got 6 new singles on it now."
Joe's eyes lit up, "Oh, brilliant, which ones?"
"Ah, I can't remember, you'll see them soon anyway."
You got to the porch, Adrian holding the door open for both of you. With your date a threshold away, you stopped and asked him quietly with an air of implication, "Oh, also... when will the pool room be open?"
You looked at Joe with a devious smile. He returned it to you, beaming with similar energy.
"I can have everyone out of there by midnight if that's what you want, darling," Adrian gave a single nod, a glint of understanding in his eyes.
"No need to rush it, mate," Joe clapped a hand on his shoulder, "Take your time. We've got all night, after all."
"Well I've only got until 2:30," he warned, "So I'll let you kids know as soon as I can."
"You're the best," you leaned up and kissed Adrian's cheek, "Thanks for everything, as always."
"Don't mention it, love. You two be careful, now."
Both you and Joe droned as you walked inside, "We know."
With that, you both disappeared into the warmly lit building, feeling the summer heat as well as the heat of each other. It was always a dream come true with Joe no matter what; a dream with no one else to flaunt it at except each other, and it was more than enough.
Your own little secret world was just between the two of you, and that was the way you liked it best. That was all either of you really needed, anyway; each other.
The end

Tumblr media
Found a few more ficlets I thought I posted, but apparently didn't, unless tumblr ate them.
The biting cold wasn't much better inside the cave than out climbing the cliff face. The glacier was a hard task for the most experienced climbers and, Cloud and his friends weren't even close to that. So far, they owed a lot of their progress to luck, trust and teamwork. The flags left by former climbers, along with the odd frozen corpse warning them of what could happen if they lagged or lost faith.
It was hard on everyone. Aerith promised everything would be all right before she walked into the light, but mysterious words and a vague reassuring smile only took them so far. They needed something more to carry them the rest of the way to Sephiroth's hiding place.
"Aiya, why is it so cold!? Where's the fire materia!? Who's got it!? Hand it over!" Yuffie's complaining echoed through the cave, causing giant stalactites to tremor.
"Shh!" Barret put a finger to his lips, raising his eyes upward.
"Did you just shush me!?" Yuffie stomped her foot.
"Shut yer pie hole, Lassie. We don't wanna die."
"You're a robot, what you worried about?" Yuffie stuck her tongue out at Cait Sith.
"Yuffie, please," Tifa murmured, frowning. "We don't want to make things more unstable than they already are." She pointed up.
Yuffie pulled a sheepish expression. "Oops," she whispered.
"Oops," Vincent echoed in a bland voice.
Cloud hid a smile and looked around. "Could probably cut through that pathway over there," he said, nodding towards a snaking path that weaved upwards. It looked treacherous and slippery. They'd have to literally cut into the ground to give them something to grip onto.
"And just how d'you propose we keep our feet from going ass over head?" Cid questioned, pausing to blow on his gloved hands. "We ain't wearing skates."
Cloud frowned. "We'll cut a path," he explained, right hand moving to the hilt of his sword.
"Sounds risky to me," Barret replied. "If a loud noise makes those wobble like a bowl full o' jello, then what's hacking the ground gonna do?"
Cloud’s eyes narrowed, he wanted to get moving, not stand around talking. "You think a giant icicle'll get the best of me?" No way.
Tifa stepped forward as Barret opened his mouth to protest further. "How about we use the right tools?" She held up a hooked wall hammer and smiled.
Cloud ducked his head and smiled. "Right. The right tools for the right job." He'd been too hasty for no reason. He held his hand out for it.
Tifa tilted her head to the side and walked past him. "If we're worried about disturbing the area then someone lighter should go."
A dart of panic hit him in the chest. Familiar words, a similar situation. Wasn't it? "Maybe Red should look for a safer path."
"Hmm?" Red XIII stepped forward, flame on his tail flickering and casting a glow against the cave walls.
"Huh? Now we're not in a rush?" Yuffie looked from Cloud to Tifa.
"No, we are." Tifa shook her head. "Let's get this done quick." She shot everyone a reassuring smile and stepped forward.
"Tifa-" Cloud bit back his protests. "Be careful."
Tifa nodded. "No probs."
~*~*~
The first few strikes to break up the glassy surface went well. Tifa paused after each one, waited for the ominous shaking overhead to still, then struck again.
As a back up, Cloud still sent Red, Cait Sith and Vincent along another path to see if it looped around to where they needed to go.
"Slow and steady, T, you got this!"
Yuffie's quiet cheerleading set Cloud's teeth on edge. He opened his mouth several times to tell her to shut up, then stopped. She wasn't hurting anyone and was in fact helping keep Tifa motivated. His muscles still clenched like he was the one doing the job. The urge to hover and watch her back was strong. He knew she could handle herself and the danger was minimal.
"There." Tifa sat back and wiped her brow. "I think that's enough." She turned and gave everyone a thumbs up.
"Good job, girl," Barret said, nodding. He slapped Cloud on the back. "See? Ain't nothing to worry about." He followed up with a victory fanfare.
Cloud's eyes widened. He was already moving as the echoing crack died down. "Watch out!"
Tifa's eyes widened and she looked up as though in slow motion.
Snatching her by the hand, Cloud pulled Tifa out of the way as a giant icicle crashed into the ground where she'd been standing. "You okay!?"
"Shit, Tifa!" Barret took a step forward, then stopped. "Oh shit!"
The ground crumbled.
Everyone leapt towards the walls as a hole opened up.
"Whose dumbass idea was this!?" Cid dug his spear into a wall and grabbed Yuffie's wrist, as Barret leapt to a ledge and clung one handed.
Cloud and Tifa backed up towards the pathway. "Damnit."
"Is everyone all right?" Tifa let go of Cloud's hand and took a step forward. Her foot slipped and she gasped.
"Tifa!" Cloud dove for her as she slid towards the edge of the hole. Wrapping one arm around her waist, he spun them around and drew his sword.
"Cloud! Tifa!" Yuffie stretched a hand towards them as they fell.
"Shit! Toss 'em a goddamn line!" Cid fumbled for the rope attached to his waist.
Cloud slammed his sword into the wall and it cut into the icy surface, slowing their descent. He grunted with effort and felt his grip slip. The buster sword looked dingy reflected in the glacier. The blade hadn't dug in enough. It was sliding. It groaned with effort along with Cloud.
"I can't reach!" Tifa clung to him with one arm and stretched as Cid threw the end of the rope. As she swung out she lost her grip. "Cloud!"
"No!" Cloud let go of the sword and dropped.
~*~*~
Everything hurt, but something warm and soft brushed against his face. Cloud grimaced and opened his eyes. "Tifa?" She looked upset.
"Oh, Cloud." She looked ready to cry. The tight hug took him by surprise.
"What's wrong?"
"You're bleeding...and...you were mumbling."
What did I say? He put his hand to his head and drew it back. His vision blurred. Blood? Just like-? Pain lanced his skull.
"Cloud?" Tifa drew back and looked at him with concern. "What can I do?"
The soft look in her eyes calmed the ache. Words slipped past his lips without being filtered. "Stop falling."
"Huh?" She tipped her head to the side.
He pulled her back into his embrace and repeated the statement. "Stop falling." It hurt too much. He couldn't bear to see it. Not if he couldn't catch her. Still not good enough.
"Sorry. I'll try not to worry you so much."
Her arms around his shoulders felt nice. As did the soft puff of her breath near his ear that disturbed his hair. He could stay like this forever with Tifa beside him. Cloud closed his eyes and breathed deep. "Tifa-"
The sound of grit and ice particles sent him into hyper awareness. His eyes shot open and he was rising to meet the potential threat, pushing Tifa behind him with one hand and reaching for his sword with the other. His hand gripped air. "Shit." The buster sword was lodged somewhere high out of reach. He'd lost it. I was supposed to look after it. Another pain in his head had him gasping in pain.
"You're still alive, then." Vincent landed in front of them and the buster sword hit the ground soon after. "This yours?"
"Yeah." His answer didn't sound sure to his ears, but he shoo his head and dismissed it.
"You're bleeding."
"Yeah." He dug in his pocket for a potion.
Tifa picked up his sword and held it out. "Cloud, maybe we should find a weaponsmith soon?"
He frowned and shook his head. "It's fine." Looking around, he tried to get his bearings. "How'd you find us, and where are Cait Sith and Red?"
"We split up. They're helping the others."
He nodded. "Guess we should find a route." His gaze went to Tifa and his brows rose. "Something wrong?"
She didn't react, the slowly shook her head. "No, it's fine." As she walked past him towards a path Vincent uncovered, Cloud couldn't help but wonder if those words sounded as fake as when he said them.

You sighed and looked up at the full moon tonight, it looks imposing and well, majestic...
"So...why does that giant ball is shining?"
You were startled as you see the mist pillar, Muichiro Tokito came right behind you like a ghost, he was looking at the moon with a blank expression on his porcelain like face.
"Tokito-san! You scared me!"
He averted his gaze from the moon then to you, you both were silent as the night and having an impromptu staring contest until he took out a piece of paper from his sleeve and hand it to you.
"...For you"
You looked at him as if he was crazy but you took it anyways, after you take it, he just turn his heel and walk back to his estate.
"...That was was weird" with that you also head back to your estate.
Once you're arrived, you sit down and looked at the letter he gave you, it was...well...white, plain and simple and there's a small "無" on it.
You open the letter...
It's started with a haiku.
Sharing is friendship.
Moon and sun are best of friends.
They take turns to shine.
Greetings, (breathing style) pillar, (Last name) (name).
I'm going to reintroduce myself, my name is Tokito Muichiro, the mist pillar, it's nice to meet you.
Sorry for giving you this letter all of a sudden, but I feel like I needed to talk to you, we have met so many times yet we barely interact with each other, I don't have much time to invite you to my estate to talk or just having a nice cup of tea, so this letter is a good substitution.
I have been told that you and I are going on same mission next week, since you were not present that day, I'll fill in some small details. Oyakata-sama assigned us to patrol at the city, this is going to be a long mission and I do hope that we get along really well through this assigned mission.
That concludes my letter now, I will patiently waiting for your reply.
Best regards.
Mist pillar, Tokito Muichiro.
A small smile plastered on your lip as you read the letter, to be honest, Muichiro gave you some unapproachable and mysterious vibe looks like you got wrong impression of him, he's actually pretty nice
Despite you really want to lay down on your futon and get ready for tomorrow's mission, you take a paper and your brush as you wrote a reply.
Greetings to you too, Mist pillar, Tokito Muichiro.
Thank you for letting me know about the mission Oyakata-sama assigned for us, and I do hope we get along really well too.
Since we barely have time to get to know each other better, why don't we have a little playdate at the teahouse around the town? That is, if you're free tomorrow, feel free to take a raincheck if you're busy.
Well, I guess that's all I have to write now, I'll look forward to work with you in our next week mission.
Best regards.
(y/b/s) pillar, (Last name) (name).
You sighed and fold the letter, but you jumped a bit as you saw your crow already sitting on the desk, staring at you and the letter you just wrote "Eesh, (crow name)!! You scared me!"
"Send letter??"
"No, it's late, just go to your bed, (crow name)"
"send letter!! Caw!!"
You sighed and rolled your eyes "Fine, fine, I'll send this now" reluctantly, you tied the letter on its ankle, you look at your crow again "You know who am I going to send this to, right?"
The crow just flap its wings "Caw!! Sending letter to Mist pillar Tokito Muichiro!!" You nodded and pat it's head with a smile "come back right away afterwards, okay? Don't get distracted"
The creature just let out a loud "caw" as it flies to Tokito estate, you watch as it fly and smiled.
"Hopefully we do get along really well, Tokito-san"
