the lucky ice cream
hughes!sister x will smith au (samy + will)
there’s nothing a trip out and ice cream can’t help samy and will as they slowly rekindle their friendship.
1.8k words
hi guys!! i’ve come out of hibernation. so sorry for my absence, i’ve had writers block and have been super busy, so in hopes of (hopefully) being out of my writer’s block, i wrote this :) it’s a small in between moment of samy and will before they got back together at the lake house. i wrote this in about an hour just trying to get something out and this is what i came up with :)) (thank u for being so patient u guys all rock!!)

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
will slumped into the couch watching some random basketball game when he heard quick feet shuffling by. he stuck his gaze in that direction and caught sight of samy rummaging through the kitchen for something. he didn't mean to stare, but his eyes couldn't really leave her figure as she continued digging through numerous drawers for something.
the boy almost opened his mouth, but he thought better considering the two just got back onto speaking terms not even 24 hours ago. things were still fresh and will wasn't sure how much he could push in fear of her taking back everything about them being friends again, so he tried ignoring her and returned his attention to the game unfolding on the tv. all he heard was her mumbling things and the sounds of certain objects being thrown around as each drawer opened and closed.
whatever it was, samy sounded annoyed. will knew her little mumbles better than anyone and he knew when she started talking to herself she was definitely annoyed at something or someone.
"fuck. do you know where jack put my car keys?" samy's sudden voice startled the boy, jumping when he realized she'd walked around to the side of the couch where he was.
will slowly shifted his gaze to her, "uh, no. i don't. sorry."
an exasperated sigh escaped the girl's lips as she stomped back over to the kitchen. this time will completely forgot the game happening and directed all of his attention to the scene.
"he said he fucking hid them as a prank the other day and then completely forgot where they were," the brunette furthered her explanation as if she knew will would still be listening.
"oh. i didn't know. i can help look?" the blonde offered while already standing up before samy even agreed.
she didn't say anything as will started looking in the dish right by the side door. someone always became the victim to lost keys every summer. with so many people always in and out, things scattered quickly and out of sight. their silence engulfed them besides the occasional jingle of some weird metal object stuck in each of the drawers and cabinets.
"i'm gonna fucking kill him," will heard samy mumble behind him.
"what was the prank about?" the boy grew curious and he was surprised he wasn't included in it considering jack was always pulling him for some weird shit
"god if i know. i had somewhere to be the other day and he thought it'd be brilliant if he hid my keys. he's lucky i have my bike still," samy briefly explained but she was definitely being vague for a reason. will grew curious, but he didn't pry. he didn't know if he could or if it was place still, so he didn't.
will pulled open another drawer when he finally came across a key fob stuck behind some cords. the blonde pulled it out, quickly recognizing the yellow M and eagle keychain as samy's keys.
"found them," he spun around, watching the brunette's eyes light up.
"you're amazing. thank you, thank you," samy rushed out, grabbing the keys from will's hands.
a small coat of pink tinted the boy's cheeks, "no problem. glad we could find them."
"the whole reason i came looking for them is because jack is being an ass and won't drive to the store to get food and wanted me to do it. wanna come with me? i'll get you whatever you want for finding them," will watched as samy disappeared probably to find shoes.
her invitation was so simple, but it had will blushing from ear to ear. they hadn't talked in months and just sort of made up yesterday and now she was inviting him to the store like none of it even happened. will wasn't complaining though.
"sure," was his response as he shoved his sneakers on and was out the door a moment later.
at least the silence wasn't awkward anymore as they drove down the road onto the main drag. samy began fumbling around with her phone to most likely fill their silence with music. will didn't dare to speak in fear of disrupting whatever balance they were creating between them, so he just fiddled with his hands in his lap like some nervous kid.
"are you gonna miss boston?" surprisingly, samy broke the silence first, still trying to plug her phone in.
"yeah, definitely. i mean, it's home and i won't be there anymore," will shrugged a little.
"i mean you moved to michigan for two years, though?"
"that's different. michigan is my home too. california is a completely different ballpark," they found each other's gazes for a second. samy seemed to read between the lines while will studied her expression as well.
michigan is my home because you're here and you're part of my home is what will really meant, but didn't say. he didn't really need to say it though because samy understood.
"are you nervous?" she shifted the subject after finally getting her phone plugged in and apple car play up.
"i sometimes try and tell myself i'm not, but i think i'll always be nervous to move and start a new life somewhere. it should be fun though. the people are good," will nodded.
"i hope it's good for you. i think san jose is good for you," the small smile made will's heart flutter.
"what about you? are you nervous for the new season?" he quickly changed the subject to samy.
"yeah, but i'm also excited to keep proving myself. people will really be looking at us this year."
"you're definitely winning the national title this year," will grinned which earned him another smile from the brunette.
"don't jinx us, but thanks. i think we are too," the little smiles felt like old times, but not the time when they were dating. the old times like when they were kids growing up together and sharing playful banter back and forth.
if anything, that was what will missed the most. he missed his best friend.
samy did too.
"isn't that place we get ice cream around here?" will wondered when his eyes returned to the scenery outside the window.
"i think so?"
"can we stop? on me?" the blonde offered with a somewhat cheeky smile.
he saw samy fighting the urge to say yes, but he knew she'd give in. he could see it in her eyes.
"if you're offering to pay," the girl giggled, making a quick right as soon as the street came up. they rolled down the road a bit before pulling into the dead end ice cream shop.
they were regulars when they were kids. it was their favorite because of the dead end road and how genius it was to build an ice cream place.
"this brings me back," samy giggled as she climbed out of the car with will right behind her.
"tell me about it. feels like we're 8 again," they shared another smile which was quickly becoming more and more frequent since the vacation started.
they scanned the menu despite them already knowing what they were getting because they were both creatures of habit. will met samy's gaze, "you know what you want?"
"duh, do you?" and they stepped up to the counter.
"hi, what can i get you guys?" the girl asked who clearly didn't want to be there because of her worn expression and flat tone.
samy and will exchanged a quick glance, "mint rocky road," they said together.
"that all?"
will nodded, pulling out a $5 from his pocket. "you can keep the change," he figured the poor girl could use some extra cash considering her sour mood.
"thanks. it'll be right out," she disappeared.
"if i was stuck here all day, i'd be bored too," samy whispered as they went to find some napkins.
"i mean i'm sure they have a lot of business?" will wondered.
"i guess, but i get her. she's probably 16 and wants to be out with friends and not working on some dead end road for five hours," samy giggled.
the girl returned with their dish and the two decided to sit for a bit, immediately digging their spoons into opposite sides. it reminded will of last night, except this time held a lighter feeling and possibly less hatred on samy's end.
"when ry and gabe were up the other week they said they're gonna annoyingly call you every single day," the brunette grinned.
"oh really?" will raised his eyebrow, ignoring the pang in his chest hearing that ryan and gabe were already at the lake house once this summer. it was always the three of them there together and it almost hurt that none of that happened this summer.
"mhm. i told them you'd probably get annoyed," samy laughed.
"maybe, but maybe i'll actually enjoy their calls. it sucks we're not playing on the same team again ever," will frowned a bit.
"i remember watching you guys play together for the first time. pretty incredible stuff," the blonde's poor blush got worse and he hoped samy didn't notice.
"no need to flatter me," he joked earning a small punch in the arm.
"i'm not, i'm just saying. you guys were really great and i am also sad you won't be playing together anymore, but they are really proud of you. i mean we all are," they stuck their spoons into the ice cream at the same time, clashing together before will pulled his back.
"thanks. i appreciate it," will found samy's eyes. he studied her face, drinking it in since it had been awhile when they were this close that they could study each other's features.
"okay, wanna take this to the car? we still have to get to the store," samy broke the contact first. she pulled back, already swinging her legs over the bench to get up.
"right, yeah. i'll carry it," will shrugged the feeling in his chest off as he also stood, grabbing the dish in one swoop.
once they were back in the car, will's gaze lingered in the ice cream shop while samy backed out. there was something so nostalgic about it and the 16 year old working the counter. it was like will could almost see their younger selves running up to order with their parents laughing in the distance. it was a memory forever frozen in time that him and samy just happened to invade on, but will was hoping for good things because this specific ice cream shop always seemed to bring good luck.
it was the first place him and samy went last year when they got to the lake house for the summer. they called it their first date at the lake house, so maybe this time it would help further rekindle their mending relationship.

Tumblr media
You and Bucky were close, and there was that little thin line between friendship and something more. Nothing had happened but, god, you had wanted it to. The secret crush you harboured for your teammate, your friend, had only grown over the years. Everyone thought you would be good together, commenting on how well you got along, that friendship was an important part of a relationship. Both of you rolling your eyes and laughing at their comments.
When you finally gathered the courage to tell him how you felt, you saw him with someone else. They were at the back of the training facility; the team were in a simulation of a terrorist attack on Paris and once the time on the training session was called, you stumbled across them.
They were just out of sight, hidden in a dark corner. And it wasn’t just a casual embrace. They were having sex, he was fucking her, hard, up against a wall. You froze at the sight of his bare bottom clenching with each thrust and the blissed-out look on her face. What the fuck am I seeing?! Heart shattered, you fled from the room without a sound, not wanting to disturb them or for anyone to see you crying.
It hurt too much to be as close to him after that, you consciously decided to withdraw from the friendship. Not going straight to him when entering a room or staying in bed instead of heading to the rooftop where you’d usually wander at five in the morning to talk with Bucky, putting the world to right.
And of course, Bucky noticed. It had been a week since you had joined him for a midnight chat in the kitchen. He was missing his best friend. He wanted to share his life with her, and she was nowhere to be seen unless someone else was in the room.
Bucky knew it was a bad sign when you chose to sit next to Wanda, not sandwiched between him and Nat, on movie night. He felt alone in a room full of friends, as they watched a film about a love triangle set in England. It was supposed to be funny, but Bucky didn’t hear the jokes, let alone the punchlines.
Nat had realised something was wrong too. She saw the dark circles under your eyes when you drained the coffee from the cup in the morning and the puffy redness from crying in the middle of the day. She had detested the way you and Bucky were before, it was like a pair of magnets drawn together, a connected ribbon, a gravitational pull. But now? Well, you were repelling within a few meters of one another, and she hated that even more.
“What did you do, Barnes?” Nat whispered harshly, eyes still on the film.
“Nothing.” Bucky looked over to you, sleeping with your head resting on Wanda’s lap.
“So why is Wanda looking at you like that?” She raised an eyebrow.
Bucky lifted his gaze, saw the fiery red eyes staring back at him as she stroked your hair, a soft red mist falling over you. He frowned at the Sokovian and tried to talk telepathically but she shook her head and looked back at the television.
Tumblr media
On autopilot, you ran from your room to his bedroom door, knocking until the screams died down. Long ago, you’d learnt to not enter the room until he’d settled down, had the bruises to your neck and dealt with the guilt-ridden expression on Bucky’s face for weeks.
Pressing your ear to the door, you could hear Bucky moving about and slowly pushed it open so as not to startle him. A soft glow from the lamp at his bedside welcomed you in, he'd stacked his pillows against the headboard with his knees drawn up and resting his head in his hands.
“Hi, Buck. It’s me.” You spoke softly, his head and eyes shot up to meet yours.
You walked over and sat at the end of the bed, averting your eyes to the floor and fingers fiddling with the edge of a blanket, waiting for him to respond.
“What did I do doll?” He croaked, fingers running through his hair, his knees dropping down.
Your heart raced and you were certain he could hear the harsh thumps, but your voice remained steady, “It's nothing, just need a little time to process some things.”
“You normally come to me. What's different?” His voice was strained, thick with distress.
Standing up, you walked towards the window, arms wrapped tightly around your torso. You could feel his eyes burning into the side of your face, but you remained focused on the navy sky fading to blues and oranges with the sunrise.
“I can't this time Buck, I need space. I need space from you.” With each word, your heart fractured along the lines you’d attempted to piece together with being away from him.
“Get out then, just leave me alone.” His tone was now harsh, stronger than before.
“God, I hate you.” Without a final glance, you left the room. Your heart in tatters once more.
Once in the safety of your room, the sob heaved out of you. Bucky had disregarded you so easily, he let you go without a second thought. And you didn’t know what was worse; what you saw a week ago or what he just said.
Tumblr media
Bucky finished his 76th lap when someone caught his eye. It was you. His best friend. The one he stupidly let go of. It had been three months since he'd told you to leave, and you hadn't gone back on his word.
Of course, Bucky was just as stubborn and hadn't approached you unless it was work-related. But there was something different about you. His eyes focused on the man you were standing with, and how you glowed, and Bucky just couldn't stand that you were feeling that way about a random recruit and not him.
“She used to look at you that way.” Wanda’s voice echoed in his head.
He scanned the field and found her figure leaning against a tree, shading herself from the summer sun and a book in hand. Bucky grabbed the small towel and wiped away the sweat, swigging his water bottle, then joined her on the grass.
“What are you talking about? She’s never looked at me like that.” He gestured towards you and the agent.
Wanda chuckled and shook her head, “You're not blind, or stupid, Bucky, she adored you. Still does, even though I wish she would get over you.”
His brow creased. “She wanted space, ended our friendship.”
Wanda’s eyes flashed red, “And you broke her heart.”
“Show me.” Bucky held out his hand, pleading with her, “I don’t know what I did wrong.”
“I can’t Bucky. It's private, she would never forgive me.” Wanda shook her head and placed her book in her lap, “I've seen what she's done to you, I'm not going to lose her too.”
Bucky sprang to his feet and kicked at the grass. “Then just tell me what you know. Just something?” He turned to face you, hands on his hips as he tried to think of what he’d done.
“Paris terrorist simulation,” Wanda stated without emotion.
Bucky turned around, seeing nothing but a neutral expression on her face. The simulation had been a success, the whole team had done well but he hadn’t seen you at the debriefing. Steve said you were exhausted and needed to rest.
“What about it?” asked Bucky.
“Don't deny it. I saw it, I felt it. She had no chance of blocking me from that pain.” Wanda stood up, eyes flickering red, “you and that agent. I thought you were better than that Bucky.”
“Shit.”
Bucky knew exactly what Wanda had meant before she explained. Shame coursed through him; he'd broken your trust by not telling you about the agent he’d been hooking up with. Honestly, he didn't want you to know, didn't want you to judge him for the flings he had. Subconsciously, he knew that was what your distancing was about because he hadn't seen her again or hooked up with anyone since.
All he wanted was you back in his life; he was going to make it happen.
Wanda smirked, shaking her head before walking ahead of him, “Best get a move on Barnes, she’s not thinking of him in a platonic way.”
Bucky’s jaw clenched and he strutted towards you, determined to get you back.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder and he could only hope you still felt the same way.
Tumblr media
You couldn’t believe Bucky dared to pull rank on you in front of another agent. That he had the gall to do such a thing after he told you to leave him alone, how he betrayed your trust as a friend and unknowingly broke your heart.
You stormed down the blurry corridors as anger took the form of tears. Your whole body tense and determined to get away from the assassin on your tail. People parted like the sea as they saw your strut and scowl, you scoffed at their reaction and thought, this must be what it’s like to be Bucky on a mission. Using it to your advantage, you managed to pull someone by the arm and into the path of the Winter Soldier.
While you sprinted away, you glanced back and spotted Bucky helping the woman to her feet, apologising profusely and then realising it was the agent you had caught him with. Your blood boiled as you pushed through the door to the stairwell, it slammed against the wall and probably damaged it, but you didn’t care anymore.
It wasn’t until the breeze hit your face that you realised where you were. You’d come to the rooftop, the exact spot that you’d air all your worries with Bucky. It was the place you’d first bonded outside of the team.
A hand dragged down your face and your shoulders slumped. You spun on your heel, ready to escape when you stopped short. There he was, blocking the doorway. You groaned, of course, he knew exactly where you’d go even before you did.
“I just want to talk.” Bucky quietly spoke, a hint of a question in his tone but a statement all the same.
“I’ll scale down the side of this building if I have to.” You stepped back towards the edge.
Bucky growled and walked towards you, “would you quit being so stubborn and dramatic for one second?”
“Just leave me alone.” You threw his own words back at him, stopping him in his tracks.
At that moment, you could see that Bucky realised how hurtful those words were, but you weren’t going to console him anytime soon. He should suffer for how he spoke to you and for never attempting to speak to you until now.
Bucky slowly circled you towards the edge, his eyes focused on you while you turned in tandem following his moves. He reached the railing then settled down into a seated position, legs hanging over the side, his chest against the metal pole.
“Are you going to join me?” Bucky’s gaze now on the horizon.
With a roll of your eyes, you sat beside him, but at least a metre apart, you couldn’t get that close to him. He was too intoxicating, and your emotions were incredibly high, even if they were full of anger and hurt, and you didn’t trust yourself not to succumb to his charm.
“Are you going to talk then?” You sassed back at him.
“I’m sorry for what you saw. You shouldn’t have seen that.” Bucky didn’t hold back, “I was going to tell you, I just thought you’d judge me.”
“I’d judge you. For sleeping with a colleague. In the middle of a training simulation?” You scoffed, “You didn’t tell me about her. Or anyone else for that matter. Natasha filled me in on all your little late night rendezvous when I was on missions.”
“I didn’t mean to.” Bucky knew he’d not win this conversation and scrambled to bring it back onto his side, “you were away, and I needed something, someone.”
“So, you used them and used me too?” You glared at him.
“That’s not what I said,” Bucky seethed, annoyed at the way you were twisting his words but not surprised with the pain you felt.
You continued, ignoring his comment, unable to stop the words falling from your lips, “I gave you emotional support. Watched you cry yourself to sleep after a nightmare, held your hand when you had a panic attack during a mission.” You shook your head at him, “I just wasn’t good enough for the sex part.”
Bucky held your chin and pulled your face to look at him, “You mean more to me than that. I just didn’t know how you felt. If I’d had known-”
You jerked away from his touch, it felt too nice, it felt like home, but you weren’t ready to fall back into this friendship. He knew how you felt, and you weren’t ready for his rejection. You still needed your space.
Swiftly, you returned to your feet, brushing down your trousers and hands, “Thank you for your apology, but I can’t forgive you.”
Bucky stood up and watched you begin to leave, “I’ll do my best to make you see how much you mean to me.”
You paused in the doorway, but you had to be strong, to carry on walking away, you couldn’t let him hurt you again. It was time to move on.

⇢ KUROO sighs for the umpteenth time of the day. he was so fucking exhausted and his body's about to give in to sleep any moment now. work has been beating his ass; there was this newbie who kept on messing up the documents needed by the board and for the whole day, he had to be the one to fix said issues. it's not like he wasn't paid enough for that; if anything, his paycheck was one of the most beautiful things he laid his eyes on— but god, even his body has its own limits and yet...
"ya.... yer not supposed to do this anymore. y-ya left me, remember?" you slurred, index finger pointing right at his chest as he circled his arms around your waist, huffing as you practically dropped all your weight on him. here he was, suddenly given the task of having to take you home after your supposed-to-be designated driver, miya fucking atsumu, also drank his brains out with you.
"be patient. still heartbroken because of you, y'know?" kenma softly tells him despite the tipsy feeling lurking in the back of his mind, shaking his head as he looked at you, whose system finally shut down and were now dozing off in the black haired man's arms.
"..... still?" he mumbles, looking down at your figure and he feels his heart contract with pain all over again.
"you can't expect her to be fine immediately, kuroo. it was your wedding day, supposed to be the greatest day of her life and yet it became the worst one... you left her at the altar alone."
he didn't reply anything— or rather, he was unable to. because what can he say to refute the truth? nothing. instead, he proceeded to his car with you still in his hold. he places you on the passenger seat, locking the seatbelts before jogging to the driver's side.
the car ride was calm as you slept soundly with your head occasionally hitting the window lightly as it swayed from side to side. he was sure as hell that if you were sober right now, you wouldn't even have the thought of seeing him cross your mind. he just knows for sure that you despise him with your whole being... at least, that's what he thought until...
"i'm sorry, tetsu. please come back," you whimper in your seat, voice quiet but he heard it nonetheless, "tell me what i did wrong so i can fix it."
the pitiful sounds and mumbles you made struck kuroo right in the heart and which makes him pull over an empty but safe road, just a block away from your (previously shared) apartment. looking over your form, he finds himself reaching out to touch your face, caressing your cheeks as drops of tears fell down slowly on them, "you didn't do anything wrong. you were fine. you were so perfect."
you squint your eyes at him, probably wondering if this was real or just a part of your drunken imagination. nonetheless, you hiccuped, "y-you... you left me and i... i still can't even bring myself to hate you... i just wanna ask you why? i just want to understand."
he thought he also knew the reason why but every single time he thinks about it, he's only led to one conclusion: because he was a coward. no way was this any of your fault— it's definitely not your fault that right at that moment, as he stared at the mirror, wearing the black suit you chose for him, the sudden fear of commitment loomed over him. it's not like it was your fault he suddenly got scared of losing you the way his parents lost each other. but now he thinks it's ironic, because he lost you anyway.
maybe... just maybe, if he had just met you where you stood at the altar, instead of leaving you alone in it, maybe he would've been happier. maybe his days would've started more with a smile from you as you helped him fix his necktie before going to work. maybe, the working hours he spends in the shitty corporate world would've been more worth it if it meant he can come home to you at the end of the day. maybe... maybe he wouldn't have to be stuck with this lump in his throat as he wonders what could've been happening if he just chose to show up and vowed his life to you.
but he didn't.
"i realized i wasn't just ready to tie my life with anyone yet. that's all there is to it, yn."
so with a heavy feeling stuck in his chest and a quiet promise to never see you again for the sake of not hurting you further, he starts the car's engine again, ignoring the words you replied but he was sure they will haunt him for a very long time... again.
i can wait for you no matter how long it takes, tetsu, you know that.
⇢ OIKAWA gives you what seems like a guilty smile as he stands in front of you, opening his arms and gesturing you to come closer. but the stoic expression on your face takes him back to the reality that the last thing you wanted to do today was to actually fetch him from the airport. it just so happens that his three best friends were caught up with work that they had no choice but to send you, the main ex-bestfriend slash ex-girlfriend, to him.
why did you agree when you practically loathe him with your whole being? well, it was probably because you weren't the devil who would reject your friends when they were literally on their knees as they begged you and for some reason, you thought he'll look pitiful going back to his home country after five years with no one to welcome him. yeah, that's it. it's not like you're still in love with him or anything.
"my car's just around the corner," you begrudgingly walk towards the car park with him quietly following. at the moment, he knew better than to get on your nerves or else there would be war. he hates that this happened to the both of you but he can't blame anyone else but himself. because who wouldn't hate their ex-boyfriend if they suddenly broke up with them over a phone call?
tension filled the car as you both sat beside each other. perhaps, this was what other people were talking about when they say that it's impossible for exes to be friends again, to not feel any awkwardness because you were sure as hell that the word "awkward" was an understatement of your situation right now. nevertheless, your eyes couldn't help but wander to his figure as he adjusted his body, opting for a more comfortable position in the passenger's seat.
he looked more youthful and you felt bittersweet— proud that his whole aura screams of "success" which meant that gone were the days where he longed to get that winter cup trophy, nor the times when he overworked himself and put a strain on his knee which led to countless arguments with you. if anything, he looked happier and it sucks because you're not even close to feeling that way... not without him.
"i heard you've finally gotten yourself your own condominium? that's great, yn!" he exclaimed as soon as you began driving to your destination, a hope lit within him that maybe you might just respond to him. just one smile, that's all i need, he thinks.
but you remain focused on your driving, choosing to reply with a single nod and a soft "yeah..."
disappointment fills his heart as he faces the truth that your relationship has really been ruined, along with your friendship. all because he was foolish to think that he couldn't handle the physical distance between you two. realization dawns upon him that he just made that same distance worse as you pull your heart further away from him.
"... i actually bought it for the two of us, you know?" he whips his head to your direction in surprise, heart clenching as he watch you let out a sad chuckle, "i just... i thought it would be nice if we had a place to permanently stay at and for you to have a home to go to when you're at japan. but yeah... i guess things doesn't go our way sometimes, does it?"
"i'm sor—"
"it's okay. i'm fine now," you quickly reply, shaking your head but keeping your eyes on the road. he tries to ignore the tears that start to form in them because he has no right to stop them, knowing full well that he was the one who caused them in the first place.
as if on cue, you halt your vehicle in front of a familiar apartment and much to your dismay, you find yourself looking back in the past when you used to live in that same place, making wonderful memories with the chocolate haired lad with you. you clear your throat to stop the sob that desperately attempts to escape your throat, "uhm... we're here."
"oh, yeah. we're here," he numbly states, already missing you despite the mere inches of space separating the two of you. you just felt so far away and he hates it. but this was the path he chose so he gets out of your car along with his things, turning to you once more, "uhh... thanks for the ride, yn. i know you probably hate me but yeah... it's very nice of you to put that past us and i guess i just want to say sorry for hurting you... i just..."
"i don't hate you, tooru," you softly tell him, "i just don't want anything to do with you anymore. to see you this happy, without me, is like a slap in the face because i'm not. it still hurts and i'm not fine. i just hope this will be the last time we'll see each other. be safe on your trip back to argentina. welcome home."
and with that, you start the car's engine again, no longer having the energy nor the strength to hear his reply. but he wishes you did because as he watches your car drive further away from him, he can't help but wish that he can take back time so that you don't have to go to that condominium and instead, go inside the home you once shared with him.
but i'm not happy, yn. because how could i call this place my home when you're not here with me?
at that moment, unbeknownst to the two hearts that long for each other break at the same time, you finally let out the tears and cries that you've been keeping since you saw him, knowing that no matter how much you try, you'll never be as happy as you were with him— simply because he left you with a hole in your heart that no one else can fill.

"Fred, calm down." George begged me; he walked by my side, trying to talk some sense into me, but it was not the moment. "You gotta understand her— throwing a fit isn't going to help anyone—" I didn't even look in my twin's direction while he spoke. "Bloody hell, Fred—"
"Y/n!" I quickened my pace, leaving George behind after spotting her in one of the corridors, having a chat with a couple of Ravenclaws. "Can I have a word?"
"Sure— Oi!" I hadn't waited for her to reply before grabbing her hand and snatching her away to pull her into the nearest broom closet. "What was that about?"
"Tell me I heard Katie wrong and you're not actually leaving."
"I can't tell you that." She plainly responded, her voice steady.
A single, gobsmacked snide left my throat. "You're joking, right?" My heart ached as if it was being constricted when she shook her head no. "So you're fleeing?"
"What?"
"Things are getting ugly so you're running away."
Her eyes dug into mines as she stayed in a very uncomfortable silence before replying with. "So what if I am?" When I averted my eyes from hers, she called my name. Her eyes were somewhat softer now, with a gleam of plea in them. "For the last two years we had nothing but tragedy. Diggory died, You-Know-Who is back and recruiting, the ministry is full on going against a teenager, this pink colored nasty toad is physically abusing us, and on top of that, I have to put up with my housemates' bullshit for having muggle blood— I'm tired!" Her voice had raised a bit, enough for me to know she was struggling to keep it at bay, but still managed to. "If I can have a life out of this then—"
"You're a coward."
"Fred." there was a warning on her tone, but I couldn't listen.
"You're leaving... people behind," she attempted to reason; I didn't let her. "Dunno why I'm surprised, really. At the end of the day you're a Slytherin for a reason."
Her eyes started to well up, and I couldn't tell if it was with anguish or fury. I knew I was getting under her skin, but that was exactly what I intended to do; if I was going to leave that room scarred, so would she.
"Self-preservation, you call it." I scoffed, feeling my own rage building up faster each passing second. "Pure cowardy."
"Is that what you think?" Her tone wasn't steady anymore; she was holding back the poison of her words, for my sake.
"Yeah." I wasn't capable of doing the same thing for hers. "And I don't want your cheap excuses and emotional manipulation to convince me otherwise." My face was probably red due to the anger, my jaw and fists hurt from clenching them; I was off the rails, and the person who would usually stop me was standing in front of me. "Better leave now so you don't have the chance to sell us out when shit goes down."
Silence fell upon us, our gazes locked, equally watery and with the same amount of fury and sadness within them.
And finally she snapped. "Maybe I'm a coward, but you're a self-absorbed prat who's not able to see beyond your own ego!" The way she said it hurt me more than the sentence itself. "This is not gonna be a DADA class, Fred! I don't want to fucking die because I was too slow casting Protego."
"Good luck, Y/l/n." I curtly wished her before stalking out of the broom closet I have initially dragged her into.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
We avoided each other for a week. The following Monday, when I entered the Great Hall, I found George and Katie quite depressed.
"What's gotten into you?"
They shared a look before my brother turned to me, deciding to break the news himself.
"Y/n left last night." He gave me an apologetic look. "Thought she'd wait until the graduation—"
"But she's had enough." Katie finished, toying with her breakfast. "Honestly, I wish I had a life in the muggle world too."
My lungs were refusing to take the air inside; I felt as if I would choke if I stayed there, so I stormed out, jogging to reach the countryard.
I needed to breathe.
Even after the wind hit my face, that vital task felt like the most difficult thing in the world to accomplish.
I hate her I hate her I hate her I hate her.
A sob escaped my chest, realising the harsh words I had spat at her were probably the last ones she would ever hear from me.
I love her.
A Year And A Half Later
READER'S P. O. V.
I managed to apparate somewhere in the cornfield —the only place around the Burrow I remembered clearly.
I should have landed with a broom, but apparently, Mad-Eye didn't inform Lupin that I would serve as an extra escort for Harry if they were ambushed, so my broom was now smashed somewhere down the muggle road we had flown over.
Mentally cursing the damn moment in which I spoke to Shacklebolt in hopes of being useful in this war, I looked for the entrance of the Weasley home, which took me quite a while.
Funnily enough, it was Lupin who stepped out, wielding his wand and casting yet another hex at me that I somehow managed to block.
With a swift wave of my hand, he was propelled back into the house. "YOU!" A long-haired redhead I recognized as the eldest Weasley helped my old Professor up as I stalked to them with my wand up. "YOU HEXED MY BLOODY BROOM! I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE!"
"Y/n, calm down—" Shacklebolt was now besides me with his hands up. "He didn't know you were coming— he was trying to protect George from further harm."
My brain was slow to process his words, but as soon as it did, I started to down my arm. "What happened?"
"Snape hit him with the sectumsempra." My eyes widened at Lupin's heavy words.
"Did everyone else make it?" The three of them remained silent, the ginger shaking his head no.
My breath caught up in my throat, but before I could ask if Fred was alright, another tall ginger flashed the corner of my eye, and my head snapped to the living room's door.
FRED'S P. O. V.
Everyone was scattered around the house. Ginny took Hermione and Fleur to her room; Ron and Harry made its way up too; Tonks went out —she needed a moment alone to mourn Mad-Eye—, and, while my parents and I stayed with George, Lupin, Shacklebolt and Bill went to guard the entrance.
I was still kneeling by George's side, holding his hand while our mother healed his wound the best she could, when we heard a yell followed by a strong blow in the kitchen.
I looked at my mum and dad, my eyes flickering to my twin while I reached for my wand.
As I got up, more yells were heard, this time clearer; the voice was familiar— I knew that voice all too well.
There she stood, at the entrance of my home.
Her eyes met mines as soon as she caught a glimpse of me, and my head started to spin. I knew I had no right to do what I was about to do, but after that night's events, in which the war became very much real, I couldn't help but rush to her and engulf her in a tight hug.
Surprisingly enough, I couldn't take more than two steps forward, since she did what I intended to do first.
"You're alright." She mumbled against my shoulder. My eyes shut, trying to block the tears that threatened to fall. "How's he?" She inquired whilst pulling away with a concerned frown.
Not trusting my voice, I nodded in the living room's direction. A quiet sough escaped my lips as she passed by, her hands lingering on my arms for a brief instant before she entered the room and took careful steps towards the settee.
I barely caught a couple of words from George and Y/n's exchange, my mind still buzzing due to the shock.
"What do you say, Freddie?" I frowned at my twin, regretting not listening to the conversation. "She can take my bed, right? I'm not gonna get far anyway."
"Right." I agreed, struggling for my voice to come out steady. It was Y/n we were talking about; I had known her since our fourth year, I had been friends and more with her, seeing her shouldn't be that nerve-wracking.
A couple of minutes later, we were all heading to our respective rooms, and as I closed my room's door behind me and Y/n, it dawned on me that I had underestimated the anxiety that could cause me being left alone with her.
Get it together, Fred.
"If you want, you can grab a shirt from the drawer." I finally managed to speak, motioning at the chest besides the window. She nodded and turned to it to look for one she could sleep in.
Now that I had the opportunity, I carefully observed her, and soon realized how much she had changed in the time we were apart. Not only when it came to her physical appearance; she stood a bit straighter, talked a little calmer; the joy with which she used to sparkle was dim now, eclipsed by a severe, worried attitude— a sign of us no longer being the kids who messed around at Hogwarts.
"I missed you" I knew right away that wasn't the best start for the conversation.
"It sure didn't seem like it." The bitterness in her tone stung my heart harsher than I expected.
"You're still mad?" The way I was conducting the conversation was making me want to bang my head against the wall.
She sighed, turning around now that she had the shirt on to meet my gaze. "A year and a half, Fred. You didn't contact me for a year and a half. I thought we were friends."
"You left me behind!" I talked back, partly because I panicked, but also because I, to my surprise, was still mad too. "What did you even expect?"
"A letter?" She questioned, throwing herself down on the bed. "I mean— I didn't really expect anything, but a letter would have been a good way to let me know you didn't fucking hate me." My eyes, now fixed on my lap, went wide when Y/n's voice broke at her last three words.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled, quite ashamed of having to apologise while also being scared of saying anything that could harm her further. "I'm sorry about not writing and- uh... I'm sorry about what I said to you. I know it's not an excuse but I was really mad and..." I cleared my throat and felt the blush creeping up my neck even before I finished the sentence. "... and hurt 'cause you- I thought that maybe I wasn't important enough to you and- yeah, I'm sorry about what I said." I tried meeting her eyes but they were fixed on the wall before her.
"It's fine." She shrugged, "I guess you were right anyway."
"I wasn't right-"
"You were." She hugged her knees to her chest and hid her face there. "Wanna know why I'm back?" She didn't need my response. "They're hunting down my family." My heart stopped beating for a second due to the shockingly deadpanning tone. "A friend gave me a tip-off— they were tracking them down. I got to them just in time." I refrained myself from asking about them —the less I knew, the better. "So yeah, you're right, I was a coward and left people behind."
My body shot up and my legs carried me to George's bed; without me being fully aware of what I was doing or which consequences it could have, I sat down and pulled Y/n into my arms.
Though she was shocked at first, her body soon relaxed into the familiarity of my arms, and she let out a relieved sigh. "You're not alone on this." I whispered, pecking her crown. "I'm here, okay?"
"So you don't hate me?" She murmured against my chest.
Maybe it was the fragility of her voice, or the warmth of her embrace I missed so much; maybe it was this past year and a half of regret, or the night's events, but I couldn't hold back my words.
"I love you."
And even though she went stiff, even if I had just blurted them out almost in accident, I didn't regret saying them, because I, in fact, loved her.
She pulled away to look into my eyes. "You mean it?"
"Yeah." I replied, calmer than I had been in a while. "And I'm really sorry about everything, if I could turn back time—" words and air were cut off by her lips crashing against mines.
We had kissed before, but it was on a bet's behalf or to prank someone; this was different, this was her pouring her 'I love you' into actions, and I embrace it gladly.
"No more running away." I commanded when she pulled back. "From now on, we stick together." She nodded, her forehead resting against mine and her palms on my chest.
Min Yoongi was done with relationships. It seemed they were always after money or fame, or they couldn't deal with his schedule and began to look elsewhere.
At first, he thought since Jihee was an idol, she wasn't after his money or fame. That she understood how the life left little time for a relationship. It was the first relationship he'd ever gone public with; his fans reacting surprisingly well. Dating another idol made it easier, she wasn't subject to more attention that she was not already used to.
But the one downside to dating an idol was that when they cheated on you, there was photographic evidence. He gave her the benefit of the doubt; it was probably a cousin or an old friend. However, then he came into her apartment earlier that night after dance practice. The true nature of the relationship was revealed.
"Yoongi!" Jihee called. "I'm sorry! I don't expect you to take me back. Just please, keep this quiet."
Her image mattered more to her than his heart. Just like everyone else.
---
Yoongi drank the rest of the glass, the burning in his throat he'd felt at the beginning of the night subsiding. The bar was one far away from the dorm, almost on the outskirts of the city. A place nobody would think to find him. It was busier than when he'd first come in, but still nothing like the bars and clubs downtown.
Music started up and he cringed as one of his own songs came through the speakers and reverberated off the walls. Min Yoongi couldn't escape himself even if he wanted to.
Nobody seemed to be eyeing him or trying to capture his attention by requesting the song. In fact, no one seemed to be paying any attention to him at all. A small solace.
Most of the other patrons danced. The majority offbeat and already off their face from soju or whatever their drug of choice. He noticed a girl sitting at the corner of the bar--she seemed uncomfortable--trying her best to pull down the short black dress she wore. Her hair cascaded over her shoulders, ending just below her chest. She wasn't drinking anything, hooking her heels into the barstool, and watching the dancers.
Yoongi felt a small pull in his chest. He wasn't sure if it was from the heartbreak or from the way the black dress hugged her curves. Honestly, Yoongi didn't care.
"Another," Yoongi said, motioning to the bartender.
---
"Sumi!" your friend said, rushing over to the edge of the bar where you had perched. "Come dance! You're never going to get over him if you don't let yourself go."
"I don't want to get over him, Eunji," you said. "I want to get back together."
"No," Eunji said, her forehead wrinkling, a sign she was serious. "I'm not letting you get back together with that deadbeat. He was holding you back and you've taken him back too many times."
You sighed, unhooking your heels from the rung of the barstool. Your best friend had a point. You'd given Minki--your ex--hundreds of chances. The first time he cheated on you, you'd believed him when he said that it was a mistake and it would never happen again. And it didn't, for another year. The second time, you swore you'd never take him back. But a month later, you did.
"Come on, let's go show him what he's missing," Eunji said, grabbing hold of your hands.
"He's not here."
Eunji scoffed and pulled you up. You stepped out of your heels and stood on the ground with just the thin material of your tights between your skin and the sticky ground.
"You know what I mean! Now, come on!"
She pulled you onto the floor and to your surprise you actually enjoyed yourself. You'd forgotten what it was like to simply dance like no one was watching. You didn't care that your dress was slipping up again, or that you'd worn holes in your tights on the bottom of your feet.
Eventually, Eunji brought you a drink. You assumed it was water, but as you drank, the liquid burned your throat and you nearly spit it back out.
"Eunji!" you exclaimed after swallowing. "Vodka? Really?"
"It used to be your favorite," she said.
"Yeah, not when I'm expecting it to be water."
You laughed slightly, throwing it back.
"Water won't help you forget Minki."
"This is why my parents thought you were a bad influence, you know?"
Eunji laughed, ordering herself a drink.
"Yeah, well, I don't think their judgment was the best."
You laughed.
"Thanks," you said, squeezing your friend's hand. "I really needed this."
---
"You know what else you need?" your friend asked about twenty minutes later. Her words beginning to slur, her lipstick smearing. "A good f---."
You covered her mouth before she could finish the word. Your eyes were wide and you were sure you were blushing. You, too, were starting to feel a bit tipsy. But, unlike your friend, you got tired when you drank.
"I'm going to get another drink," you said, wanting to escape the smirk that had broken out across your friend's face.
You walked backward for a couple steps, despite the fact you weren't drunk yet, you stumbled and fell backward. You landed straight into the lap of a stranger, who luckily caught you, his arm around your back.
You felt yourself blush as his dark eyes made contact with yours. His white hair partially covered them, but you could still feel his glazed gaze boring into you.
"A drink?" he asked. "All you had to do was ask."
A smirk broke out across his face, not unlike Eunji who winked at you from a couple of barstools away.
---
Eunji (11:01 pm): I think he's an idol.
You looked across the bar at your friend who had ordered some food to sober up.
You (11:01 pm): I don't think so. He doesn't seem like an idol.
Eunji (11:02 pm): Who else would dye their hair white?
You (11:03 pm): I don't know. Does it matter?
Eunji (11:04 pm): Only if you care that you're about to hook up with an idol.
You rolled your eyes and turned your phone to silent.
---
You stifled a moan as he kissed your neck and you fiddled with your keys, trying to unlock your front door. You eventually managed to turn the key into the lock and the two of you practically fell inside your apartment.
"What about Eunji?" you asked, as he closed the door and pushed you against it.
"The bartender's going to take her home," he answered. "Don't worry."
He kissed your lips this time, effectively shutting you up and smearing your lipstick on his own lips. His hands roamed up and down the fabric of your dress. But, he was patient, he didn't just rip the fabric off you like Minki would've.
"Only tonight," you said, your voice breathy.
"Only tonight," he repeated.
The promise you'd made each other before you'd left the bar. Neither of you wanted a relationship, rather proof that you could still be loved.
His lips roamed back down to your neck, it seemed to be his favorite spot. Somehow you managed to collapse onto the couch, wrapping your legs around his waist. You dug your heels into his hips and laughed.
"What?" he asked, smirking against your collarbone.
"I forgot my shoes at the bar."
He pulled his lips away from your skin. His hand reached up and moved your hair off your shoulders and out of your face.
"Good, means I won't have to take them off."
---
Yoongi woke up the next morning. He glanced over at your sleeping form. He smiled and reached to move the hair from your face, but his fingers stopped midway, remembering the promise you'd made each other the night before. Only tonight.
He got up and collected his clothes. His phone was still in the pocket of his jeans, nearly dead. He slipped on his jeans and glanced down at his phone.
"Shit," he mumbled, seeing the multiple text messages from his band members asking where he was and telling him he was late for practice. He shot a quick text to Namjoon explaining that he was on his way.
Yoongi quietly walked out of the bedroom and closed the front door, trying not to wake you up. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a black mask that he kept on him in case he needed to walk in public without too much notice.
He slipped into the crowd. He placed his hands in his pockets and looked around, hoping to eventually catch a taxi. But, just in case someone had followed him, he wanted to get as far from your apartment as possible before he hailed a taxi.
The heartbreak from the day before seemed to have dulled inside him. It was still there--it probably always would be--but it wasn't ruling his thoughts anymore. He smiled as he thought back to the night before, seeing you dance so well, even though you had been reluctant to. When he'd originally spotted you across the bar, he decided to ignore you, but when you landed in his lap; a little tipsy, your hair just the right amount of messy, and your bare feet swinging just above the ground, he couldn't resist you.
With each block, Yoongi felt an odd sensation in his chest. It wasn't heartbreak, it was something else. Something he couldn't describe and something he'd never felt before. It didn't hurt at first, but after a couple more blocks, he stopped, clutching at his chest.
He breathed heavily, his thoughts racing, trying to find some sort of explanation. He managed a few more labored steps before collapsing on the sidewalk.
---
Yoongi opened his eyes. He looked down at the IV in his arm and glanced over at Taehyung who sat beside his hospital bed.
"Yoongi! You're awake!" the boy said.
Taehyung immediately stood up and yelled out into the hallway. Yoongi could hear the rushing of his band members as they barreled down the hallway towards his room.
"What happened?" Yoongi asked, as soon as they were in the room. "I just remember walking and then my chest hurt."
"You collapsed," Namjoon said. "They brought you here in an ambulance. The doctor told us it wasn't a heart attack, but said he didn't want to explain anything until you were awake."
The boys fell silent as the doctor and Bang PD walked into the room. BTS scrambled to the far side of the room, allowing the doctor to examine Yoongi.
"It would appear," the doctor started. "You are very lucky man. Not many people find their soulmate in this world."
"What?" Yoongi and the members said at once.
"When someone meets their soulmate, choosing to leave them behind can be deadly for both parties. The only reason you aren't experiencing pain right now is because you don't have a choice in where you are."
"Wait, so how am I supposed to live my life then?" Yoongi asked.
"It's complicated," the doctor answered. "There shouldn't be a reaction for anything work-related for either of you. However, you will have to remain in close proximity to each other in your free time. That's not to say you will have to spend every waking moment together, but..."
"We need to know who this girl is, Yoongi," Bang PD continued. "If you want your career and your life to continue, we have to find her."
---
"So, you're saying the guy I met last night? He's my soulmate?" you asked, once the doctor had explained everything.
"Most likely," the doctor said. "It is extremely important we find out for sure, though. It is a matter of life and death."
You took a deep breath, allowing the weight of everything to fall on your shoulders. It was supposed to be a one night stand. Only tonight.
You weren't supposed to discover your supposed soulmate. What would that even mean? You hardly knew the guy! How did your body somehow know he was the one?
Eunji was sitting in the corner. You could tell she still had a headache from the night before, but when you'd called her in a panic, she'd still managed to rush over to your apartment and find you passed out, eggs black and burnt on the stove.
"I don't even know his name," you said, looking down. "I--I don't know how we'll find him."
"Well," the doctor said. "There's only one other person in the city who has been admitted for finding their soulmate today..." The doctor trailed off and pointed up at the TV where a news report was talking about how a famous idol had met his soulmate, but that they needed to find her.
Eunji looked at you, her eyes wide, the news sobering her up immediately. She reached out for your hand.
"Fuck," she said, "you're Min Yoongi's soulmate."
Dear Lee - Zuko x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: After being rescued from prison, you discover that you fell in love with a lie.
Pairing: Zuko x DaiLi!Reader
Genre: Angst
Warnings: Swearing
Word count: 2105
“Hand me the prison keys.” Zuko ordered to the semi-conscious warden that he found in front of his uncle's cell.
Warden Poon was barely able to open his eyes due to the hard confrontation he had with Iroh.
“But, Prince Zuko…”
“Just do it.” Zuko didn’t even try to use a calm tone this time, even threatening Poon with one of his fists on fire.
With no other choice, the warden handed the bunch of keys to the prince. He no longer wanted any conflicts, mainly because he didn’t have enough strength to do so and also because he knew that his firebending was inferior.
With the keys in hand, Zuko began his plan, starting to free the remaining prisoners from the tower. Initially, his intention was just to free his uncle, but as he had failed to do so, he decided not to let the opportunity go in vain.
Most of the people who were there weren't dangerous, but very prestigious. Big business owners, high-ranking military men, former rulers. Even his uncle was only there and not in the Boiling Rock, as he was part of the Royal Family. Fortunately, thanks to this foolish choice, Iroh had benefited from the average security prison to escape.
When Zuko finally thought he had just opened all the cells, he came across one that was different from the others. It wasn’t surrounded by iron bars, but by large metal plates with a small window in the middle, apparently where meals were placed. Not even his uncle had been put in such a bad place. Could someone really be there?
With some caution, the firebender turned the key in the lock and subtly opened the door, placing his head inside the small gap he had opened.
“Hello?”
Unfortunately, Zuko identified someone lying in the back of the dim cell.
And that someone was you.
But since you hadn’t responded to his call, he was uncertain if you had heard him. So, the prince decided to enter the cubicle and shook you gently, trying to awake you.
“Hey. Wake up.”
It all seemed too confusing in your head when you started to wake up. A familiar voice rang in your ears and a small amount of light illuminated the cell, but the brightness irritated your eyes since you hadn't been dealing with it for weeks.
“Hey.” He called you again and then you finally remembered who that voice belonged to.
“Lee?” You questioned in an uncertain but hopeful tone.
“Y/n?” Hearing your name coming from his lips filled you with happiness.
Without restraining yourself, you wrapped the prince in a tight hug and he reciprocated you a bit shyly since he didn't expect that demonstration of affection, much less to find you in a place like that. But you didn't care about his shyness. Just having him in your arms was good enough.
“I'm so happy that you're okay, Lee.”
You called him Lee again. After all, he was Lee to you.
For you, he was the guy from the teahouse you used to go to after your earthbending training. The guy who had caught your interest so suddenly that when you noticed you would show up to see him even when there was no reason to.
For you, he was the guy who made you laugh even when he didn't mean anything funny. He had such a weird and grumpy way of looking at things that you couldn't help but think it was cute.
For you, he was the guy who had taught you a bit of swordsmanship and when he wielded those double swords, you were even more attracted to him. He always seemed to dance with them. And he made it look so easy when you knew it wasn't.
For you, he was the guy you had your first date with. In fact, you weren't even sure if it was a date, but you always treated the memory with the amount of affection you think it deserved.
You couldn't forget when you had dinner with him and he yelled at one of the waiters, apparently a little embarrassed by a silly comment. You also couldn't forget how you tried to hold his hand and he allowed it, walking with you like that for a while. You couldn't forget the fountain where you took him to and how the candles magically seemed to light around it. It was the perfect place and the perfect time. You could almost feel that he wanted to kiss you just as much as you wanted to kiss him. And suddenly, he left, leaving you with a coupon for the teahouse he worked at.
Shortly after that small step in your relationship, you graduated as part of the Dai Li. You wished you could protect your people and you felt that that was the right way to do it. You had grown up in the Lower Ring and aspired to bring some justice to this region. It is a pity that you got it all wrong and chose the worst way to achieve it.
Before joining the other agents, you had a last cup of tea at your favorite spot. You already wore the typical Dai Li costume and you expected the farewell to be kinda hard. But to your surprise, that day, Lee didn't show up, just his uncle. You said goodbye to Mushi and asked him to deliver the message, but it always hurt you that Lee wasn't there to hear it in person.
So, you met again. And you had so much to say to your dear Lee.
“Why didn't you come to say g-”
“Not now.” Zuko interrupted you a little roughly, but it wasn’t intentional. He just was in a hurry. “I’m sorry. We need to go before they find us.”
He cautiously broke away from your embrace and lifted you, pulling you by your hand. However, you were so weak from the hard days in prison that you almost fell backward. Fortunately, he reacted quickly and held you tightly by the waist so you wouldn't fall.
“What’s wrong?” Zuko asked worriedly.
“Nothing. Let's go.”
You broke free from him politely, trying to prove that you were well enough to walk alone and get out of there on your own, but deep down, you knew it was all just a lie. You had been tortured during so many days that you didn't even know how you could still speak. You didn't even know how you could still pronounce the word hope. Perhaps it was the fact that you were from the Earth Kingdom. Your people were known for being enduring and strong and so were you. You had to go on despite everything.
“Let me help you.” Zuko offered again but you denied.
However, when you started to leave the cell for the first time in weeks, your body again lost its balance. You were so thrilled to finally be able to touch something other than cold metal walls that you didn't look at your steps. Until warm hands held you again.
“Please, I just want to help.” He practically begged this time and you could feel his hands tightening around you.
“Fine.” You said it reluctantly, knowing that he wouldn't take no for an answer.
Zuko was pleased to finally get your consent and cautiously, he put one of your arms over his neck, supporting your weight against his body. The prince could easily carry you on his back, but he knew you were a proud person and would be offended if you were treated that way. He wanted to give you the proper respect. After all, you were a fighter just like him.
“Now, can you tell me what happened?”
Zuko wanted to ask that question since he found you in that cold, dark cell. It never crossed his mind that you could be so close to him and he never noticed. And if it weren't for his change of heart, you might have rotten there and he would never know.
He wanted to know why you were in that tower since you weren’t a relatively important person.
He wanted to know why you seem to be a thousand times more mistreated than the other prisoners he had released. You could barely walk without stumbling and that didn't match the determined person he met at Ba Sing Se.
He couldn't help but look at the injured extension of your body. All he could see was a large number of bruises, burns, and marks. You looked like a macabre work of art and probably the artist of this work had a mind as macabre as.
He wanted to ask so much. Zuko was immensely concerned about your condition, but at the same time, he was more concerned with how he would say he wasn’t who you thought he was.
“Fire Nation happened.” You finally responded sarcastically. “Do I really need to tell you that, Lee?”
Zuko didn't dare to say anything. Every time he heard his false name, everything seemed to get worse. So he decided to go down the stairs with you in silence. If he could take care of your safety by pretending to be Lee for a while, then he would do it.
“Why are you wearing these disgusting clothes?” The red suit with golden details annoyed you a lot since it looked a lot like the clothes of that woman you despised so much.
Zuko remained silent. You couldn't help but be irritated by his attitude, but you knew you were dependent on him at that moment. You could either adapt to his sudden silence or return to your unhappy cell. Although even if you wanted to return, Zuko would never let you go back.
You finally made it out of the tower and your eyes shone with excitement. How long have you been since you breathe some fresh air?  You were so happy that you would have jumped, screamed, and even danced a little if some guards hadn't shown up.
You quickly let go of Zuko and placed yourself in front of him.
In your mind, you were stronger than him. You were the person who had been blessed with the ability of bending. You were also the person who had been trained to be an elite fighter and serve Ba Sing Se, even it was all a big fat lie. You couldn't change the fact that you joined Dai Li and were manipulated to do bad things, but you could use your strength to do things differently from now. And so you would protect Lee.
You took a rigid stance and levitated some blocks of earth. You were ready to attack until you hear them communicate with Lee.
“Prince Zuko!” One of them spoke up trying to communicate with the man behind you, but that didn't make any sense. He wasn't this Zuko guy.
A woman ran towards you with fire daggers in her hands, but that didn't make you back off. You knew you were superior and even if you weren't, you would force yourself to be.
When you tried to throw the rocks at her, you were stopped, with your hand being held behind your back.
Only one person would be close enough to you to act that fast.
“Lee, what are you doing?” You tried to get loose in vain.
“I’m sorry.” Zuko whispered.
Before you could answer or try to earthbend something with your feet, Zuko threw you over one of his shoulders, almost like you were a sack of potatoes.
"Stop."
You didn't understand why he told you to stop until you realized that the order wasn't for you. He was talking with the guards.
“But, prince Zuko, she’s the Dai Li agent that princess Azula-”
“I don’t care. I’m ordering you to stop.”
You couldn't understand anything anymore. Why did Lee seem to have authority over those guards? Why weren't you being attacked? Why were they constantly calling him prince Zuko?
“I’m afraid we can’t, Your Highness.” The guard with fire daggers replied.
And then, a battle of flames started.
You were outnumbered. You knew that Lee was good with swords, but that would be insufficient. You would have to fight. Only you could defend the two of you.
"Lee, please." You practically begged, pulling his shirt with as much strength that you could.
"I'm sorry, Y/n. For everything." And when he started to firebend, your heart shattered into a thousand pieces.
Lee never existed.
Maybe I will write a part 2 since I liked this theme so much. Please let me know in the comments  if I should continue. Suggestions for the next part are also accepted! To this imagine, I inspired myself with the song Natalie - Milk & Bone.
Request made by @bucky-blogs Thank you so much for requesting this!
Since English isn’t my native language, please be kind. Any criticism is appreciated.
You're his celebrity crush and meet at an awards show
Pairings: OT7 x International Artist!Reader
Genre: Fluff, crack ig
Request: "hii ! i love your work and i've been having major feels with the boys at the bbmas so i was wondring if you could write a reaction for u being an artist they have a crush on and they meet you at an awards show and it's all cute and stuff?? 💜"
A/N: I really loved writing this! I'm just gonna do what I do with Shipping Material, for those of you who don't know hahah:
“English”
«Korean»
Tumblr media
Kim Seokjin
“You know BTS?”
You couldn't help but giggle at the man's words, nodding your head right after, for there was really no other answer to that.
When you had gone to the restroom earlier that night, only to find people waiting outside of it because of how full it was, you had considered turning around and coming back some time later, but it just so happened that no other than Kim Seokjin had arrived two seconds after you, and had decided not to let his chance to talk to you slip away; even if he didn't have Namjoon to translate for him.
So now here you were, both of you not even bothering on lining up anymore, and instead moving aside not to block the way.
“Who doesn't know BTS at this point?” you answered after having uselessly tried to conceal your smile, raising one of your eyebrows and earning a proud yet shy smile from Jin. “You know Y/N?” it was your turn to cheekily ask.
He stretched his arms out before folding them over his chest as he leaned against the wall. “Ah, yes” he tried to play it cool, “very beautiful” he nodded like it was a fact, bringing immediate heat to your face, “voice… yeah” he emphasized, holding one of his thumbs up.
You gazed down in embarrassment, allowing another laugh to escape your throat – an action of yours he found to be quite adorable.
“I'd have to say the same about Kim Seokjin then” your eyes locked with his once more, ones that had sparkled at the fact that you actually knew his name. “10/10 vocals and looks”.
At that, he unsuccessfully tried to erase the smile that had already formed on his lips – his ears turning a furious red.
“Me? Oh, no” he denied, waving his hands in front of him, “no... you are best”.
Out of your mouth came what was a mix of a scoff and a laugh. “What? No way, hear me out–”
Who would've thought your first interaction ever would turn into a ‘no, you're better’ contest. At least you made him comfortable enough to fight you from the beginning.
Tumblr media
Min Yoongi
“You mind if I join you?”
Yoongi's head snapped up at the sound of an unfamiliar voice, his eyes opening wide in shock when he realised he had no other than you in front of him.
Being too caught up in the sight of you, he could do nothing but absently shake his head, moving a little to the side for you to sit next to him.
“Why are you here and not inside?” you wondered in an attempt of making small talk.
“Um, air” he motioned around.
“It does get a little suffocating inside, huh?” you leaned back to take a better look at him.
He simply nodded his head, gazing down to his lap before a small smile took over his factions.
“You're sure I'm not bothering you?” you worried, noticing how quiet he was. “I didn't know you'd be here, I can leave if–”
“I'm just…” he interrupted you, looking up to lock eyes with you, “shy...” he admitted sheepishly.
Not only because he was insecure about his English, but also because it was you.
Your lips curved up as you stared fondly at him. “Okay then” you looked ahead, “let's just stay quiet for a while if that makes you feel better”.
So the two of you did just that; remaining silent for a little while, doing nothing but enjoy each other's company. Anyone who saw you would've thought it was such an awkward scene, but it was the complete opposite, actually. It was weird to find a stranger you could be so comfortable around with. It was nice, for both of you.
«Yah! Yoongi, we've been looking for you everywhere» the quiet atmosphere was disrupted faster than you'd have wanted to by Seokjin. “Oh, hello…” he awkwardly greeted you, receiving a smile from you before his eyes were back on Yoon. «They're announcing the Top Artist Award, come on!»
At the sound of that, Yoongi stood up immediately. “Sorry, I have to go, uh– award...” he spoke softly, almost scared of messing up his English.
Biting your lip, you squinted your eyes as you looked up at him. “Go get ‘em, tiger” you encouraged him with a grin, watching for the first time in person his signature gummy smile.
Thinking for a second before turning around to leave, he digged his hands in his pockets, staring down to you. “You don't... wanna come?”
“Um…” your eyes travelled from him to the door. “You know what? Yeah, I do” you stood up as well, a smirk forming on your lips before you added: “I don't wanna miss all the madness when you guys win”.
If you hadn't won him over already by being understanding about his shyness, with that vote of confidence you sure as hell had.
Tumblr media
Jung Hoseok
“Y/N!” he enthusiastically shouted the answer he had been saying over and over every single time the interviewers asked them who they wanted to meet that evening.
Only this time you heard him.
Your head had snapped up at the sound of your name as you walked past them a few meters behind on the red carpet, looking around before your eyes locked with the guy's who was currently interviewing BTS.
“Y/N, hi!” he waved for you to go over there. “Come here, someone wants to meet you!”
Not only did you freeze at that invitation, but so did Hoseok, earning loud laughs from his members as you got closer to them.
“Hi, guys” you shyly greeted with a smile, receiving instant cheerful replies before you stood by Hobi's side, since Joon had stepped aside for you to be in the middle.
Hoseok's eyes were soon to lock with yours – a shy smile parting his lips as he quietly admired your factions, having you unconsciously do the same.
“So, J-Hope right here just told us he was excited to meet you” the interviewer informed you with a smirk, causing Hoseok to tilt his head and turn to his friends as he complained in embarrassment.
Your reaction, however, was something Hobi did not expect at all; for not only did your lips part in what the thought was the brightest, most beautiful smile he had ever seen on you, but you had also covered your face with your hands, letting out a giggle that was soon followed by one of his own.
“Ah, don't tell me that” you told the guy holding the mic in front of you, “he's my favourite, my heart just did a thing”.
«Did she, did she say I'm her favourite?» Hoseok turned to ask Joon with pouty, incredulous lips; later giggling like a little boy on Christmas when their leader confirmed his beliefs. «She did?!» he covered his smiling mouth with his hand.
“Aw, that's so cute!” the other guy gushed at your previous words, for neither of you had any idea of what Hobi's previous gushing had been about. “So you'll be cheering for him tonight?”
“Of course!” you turned to the seven guys. “I mean, I'll be chanting for all of you guys, but if you hear someone screaming ‘J-Hope’ at the top of their lungs, that's probably me”.
And later that night, when he did indeed hear someone screaming his name somewhere in the first rows during his part, his heart sped up uncontrollably, and not precisely because of all the dancing around.
Tumblr media
Kim Namjoon
“Oh, f– I'm so sorry” he apologized as soon as his foot had stepped on your long dress, causing you to stumble over.
Luckily for you, just like he almost made you fall, he had also been the one to make sure to catch you – his hands being quick to hold you firmly by your arms, and staying there for a little longer so you could regain your balance.
“It's okay” you let him know with a shy smile, “I've been stepping on it all evening as well” at that, Joon exhaled the air he had been holding, gently letting go of you for once and for all. “It's such an awful, uncomfortable dress. I hate it”.
“Oh” he pursed his lips, eyeing up and down the dress he believed so perfectly hugged your body, “this might not help at all, but I think you look beautiful”.
It did help. Quite a lot, actually – that simple statement itself being enough for a shiver to run down your spine.
“Thank you” you replied, feeling yourself once again becoming shy. “I'm Y/N, by the way”.
“I know” he answered with an obvious tone, later letting out a breathy, nervous laugh, at the realisation of how he had exposed himself. “I um, I'm Namjoon”.
“I know” you repeated his previous words, biting down on your lower lip in response to his dimples showing up as he smiled.
Just like that, your manager called you from the other side of the hall, for you to go change into the outfit you'd be wearing for your performance.
“Seems like I'm finally getting out of this dress” your voice came out with a tone of relief, grabbing the sides of it and pulling it a little bit up so that you could walk properly. “It was nice getting stepped on by you, see you later!”
“It was my pleasure, I hope we can do this again sometime soon!” he played along as you walked away, smiling widely after watching you tilt your head back to let a laugh escape your throat.
Clumsiness? That he could always count on.
Tumblr media
Park Jimin
Taehyung sneakily nudged Jimin as you got closer to greet him, for he had frozen on his place as soon as he heard you call them from the other side of the hallway – his eyes in absolute awe as he watched you hug his members one by one.
And when you finally got to him, he didn't really know which one of you was shaking more.
“Sorry” you apologized to all of them once you had pulled away from him, knowing well enough they had all noticed your body slightly tremble, “I'm really nervous, I'm a huge fan of you guys”.
A unison “aw” came out of their mouths.
“Don't be nervous” to everyone's surprise, it was Jimin the one to speak up first, with what you thought was the cutest of pronunciations.
“Yeah” Namjoon backed up his friend, “we're huge fans too, so we're just as nervous, to be honest” he laughed, making you laugh in a way that had Jimin staring with even more admiration.
“Yeah!” Jimin spoke up again, “your voice!” he paused, pressing his lips together and effusively nodding his head to let you know how much he liked it, bringing instant heat to your face as you blisfully thanked him.
He wanted to say something else, to talk more to you, but you were interrupted by your manager tapping your shoulder to hurry you up.
“Oh, um…” you looked around, “I wish I had more time but my performance's about to start” you stuck your lower lip out. “I just wanted to wish you guys the best of lucks later tonight, you're gonna kill it”.
“Ah, thank you!” they all answered once again, with grateful smiles.
“Wait, let's take a picture!” Joon proposed out loud after one of their staff members showed him a camera.
You didn't have to think even once before accepting, turning around to look in the same direction as them. On the other hand, Jimin didn't even try and stop his legs from moving closer to you in the middle, quietly asking Hoseok to move over and let him be by your side – placing his hand over your shoulders without getting to touch you as he smiled brighter than the camera flash itself.
And so when you turned around to say goodbye, he opened his arms to quickly hug you once more before you took off to the stage.
«Aw, she's so beautiful, how's that even possible» he gushed to his members, receiving multiple amused smiles when his smile turned into a pout. «Why'd she have to leave so soon?»
Little did he know that was far from being the last time you met each other.
Tumblr media
Kim Taehyung
He was dying to talk to you.
The moment they were guided to their seats and he noticed one of them would be sitting next to you, he had rushed over there to claim it as his. However, just as much as he was dying to say something to you, his confidence was betraying him.
From time to time, he'd turn to you with the intention of starting a conversation in between performances, but nothing would come out of his mouth, turning his head in the opposite direction before he could make a fool of himself. You had said “hi” to each other already, why couldn't he bring himself to say something else?
It was when he noticed you were asking someone for some water, that he decided to take his chance – picking up the bottle of water under his seat to hand it to you.
“Have it” he spoke after your dumbfounded eyes travelled from the item to fix on his. “Is not… open…” his eyebrows knitted together as he looked up, wondering if he had managed to make his point clear.
An understanding smile curved up your lips, taking the bottle from his hands and thanking him before you opened it and took a sip.
Say something else. Tell her she looks pretty. Make small talk. Anything. He repeated over and over in his head, yet nothing came out. So, he smiled once more and turned his head back away from you, internally beating himself up for it.
It was you, later that night, the one who made his wishes come true; when you noticed how one of his members had taken away from him the popcorns he had been munching on, leaving him sulking with a pout on his lips.
“Here” you handed him yours, receiving a baffled expression from him. “You can have mine”.
In the end, what happened was that he did not take yours, but accepted to share them instead – leaning over to your side and finally relaxing next to you as the two of you ate and commented on the show, which lead to lots of laughter througout the night.
Never had he ever thought he'd thank Jeongguk for stealing his food.
Tumblr media
Jeon Jeongguk
“Don't be so nervous” you tried to encourage him with a small smile, having his eyes move up from the paper note he was tightly holding to focus on you – a smile of his own curving up his lips as well.
“My English…” he begun, trying to translate the right words in his head, “is not... good”.
“It's pretty good, actually” you once again tried to make him gain some confidence.
Neither of you understood why they had settled things up this way – each one of the BTS members having to present an award with someone else, instead of doing it all together like they always did. In Jeongguk's case, he had been paired up with you, which is why here you were now, both of you sitting backstage, going over your dialogue a few times as you waited for your turn to come.
And he didn't know if it had been a blessing or a curse, for he had gotten to meet you, the one artist he had been crushing on for years… but, at the same time, there was a high probability of him messing up at some point and make a complete fool of himself in front of you.
“You know what?” you spoke after taking in his uncertain eyes. With a raised eyebrow, he let you know you had his attention. “If it makes you feel any better, I can make a fool of myself in front of everyone”.
His eyes opened wide. “W-What?”
“Yeah” you nodded your head, “I'll just mess up the words or something and then you'll have nothing to worry about!”
“No, no” he shook his head, holding his hands out as if to signal for you to stop. “You don't– have to…”
“Oh, I will do it, my friend” you raised an eyebrow in determination. “I already thought of it, there's no turning back now”.
That serious statement of yours managed to get a breathy laugh out of him.
You were his crush for a reason, but knowing you were willing to sacrifice your public image just to help him out with his nervousness? He might as well have fallen in love right then and there.
im sorry
———
Weiss's first instinct was to scream.
Tears already pricked the edges of her vision. It wasn't even just the worry. She was just so overwhelmed with emotion she didn't know what was happening.
That kiss? Now Blake's gone? Where was she even? Everything was just spinning.
She nearly knocked herself over with another person next to her. She couldn't see. She was crying. She wanted to sink into the floor and let the ground swallow up her existence forever.
Suffocating. So that's what that was.
"Blake!" she screamed.
She screamed at the top of her lungs, yet she was still drowning. Unable to breathe under the raving lights and the wild crowd.
But someone did hear her. And he ran faster.
"Weiss?" Ruby yelled. She pushed her way they the crowd, ignoring all the annoyed glares she was receiving for knocking so many people off balance.
The translucent white hair came into view. Out of desperation, Ruby lightly grabbed a strand, trying not to pull.
"Weiss! Where did she go?" Ruby exclaimed, her voice's pitch heightening.
When she didn't answer, Ruby placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. Her other hand reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone.
"I'll call Yang," she said. "We will find her."
Weiss wanted to cry.
Blake realized what happened too late. She couldn't even get onto her feet. She was being dragged along the room, only kept up by the crowd she was knocking over.
But she as she hit the ground, so did reality. She gasped, trying to wrench her arm out of Adam's grip. But it was futile. In no time, they were already outside. In an alley. Shadowy. No one would notice them there.
Blake saw him in the corner of her eye, but she turned away, still comprehending what happened.
She just wrapped her arms around herself, staring at the brick wall, refusing to stand.
And neither Adam nor Blake wanted to speak first.
She heard him sigh behind her. She saw this a thousand times already. He would be running his hand in his hair, his dark brown eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly.
"Blake—"
"Don't."
"Blake—"
"This is kidnapping."
"Then why aren't you getting up?"
"Because I know you'll stop me." Blake's voice quivered near the end of her statement. But she went on.
"I'll get up. Then you make a show of blocking me from the door with maybe some growling and yelling while you try to make me feel worthless. Like every time before."
"I just want to make you happy."
"You do, huh? Then go away."
She could hear a resounding clang. He probably kicked the dumpster.
A growl escaped his throat.
"You—!" he stopped himself, the growl fading. Then it was a laugh. Breathless. Bitter.
"That's why I like you, Blake." he sighed and sat on the dumpster. "You're quiet. But you're smart. You fight. You always fight."
"I fight, or we fight?" Blake scoffed.
"We both fight!" he said. "We're warriors at heart, Blake. That's why we make such a great team. That's why I fell in love with you."
"You don't know what love is, Adam."
"You don't know what I feel!" he yelled, jumping off the dumpster. "You don't know how empty it was without you, Blake. You don't know just how much you destroyed me when you broke up with me."
Blake seethed. "That was not love, Adam!"
There was another one. Another one of those bitter laughs. A chill ran down Blake's spine.
"So you love that Schnee girl then?"
She stiffened.
"I know who she is, Blake." he said. "Don't think I haven't checked up on you."
His footsteps were slow, calculated; timed just to make her squirm. And it was working. She hated it. She hated how familiar this was.
"Do you love her, Blake? What has she ever done for you? It's been months since you rejected me. And here I am. Still here for you. What could she have done that was oh-so great to get your attention?"
Then his breath was on her neck, his venomous whispers filling her ears.
"Speechless, I see." he sighed. "When will you realize that I'm only doing this for you? That I'm the only person you can rely on?"
The thought of Weiss looking for her filled her mind. Then every moment before then. The start of their plan. The growing feelings. When they messed with Henry Marigold. The white of her hair. Her melodic voice. Her headstrong attitude. Her regal aura. The softness of her kiss. And the dandelions in her dream. And it hit her—
Blake could stop this. And only she could do this. Adam wouldn't listen to Weiss. Or Ruby and Yang.
Blake turned sharply, taking Adam by surprise when she landed a punch in his nose.
He fell back, a hand on his face. Blood seeped between his fingers.
Blake sucked in a breath, shaking as she stood. Then she let it go.
"This isn't happening again, Adam." she forced through gritted teeth. "Yes. We're both fighters. But that's precisely why we don't work. Even if I still did like you, we would have a cycle that would never stop. Fight. Make up. Repeat. And it hurts me."
Adam frowned. "But.. I can—"
"You can't."
He seemed to deflate. And part of Blake wanted it to keep deflating.
"Weiss made me feel like a person, Adam." she did. "She treated me like an equal and didn't ask anything of me. You needed me there for you to remind you of how great you are when it wasn't true. We will never work, Adam. Never.
"I know I love her. And I will respect what she wants. Respect her as a person. And I don't expect anything from her other than for her to be herself. We.. We weren't like that."
"I love you, Blake." he tried again.
Blake groaned.
"If you really fucking loved me, you'd let me be happy for once!"
That seemed to hit his thick skull. Blake huffed, watching him closely.
Boom—!
"Blake!" Weiss gasped.
"Weiss?" Blake's eyes widened.
Weiss ran towards her, tightly wrapping her arms around the taller girl.
Blake gasped quietly. But she smiled, leaning her chin on top of Weiss's head, since her arms were being encased.
"I'm alright."
"You better be." Weiss huffed.
Yang closed the door behind her, eyeing Adam suspiciously. He was still the same, on the floor, staring into space. But his gaze almost made it seem like he was focusing on Weiss.
"I'm guessing he's Adam?" Yang crossed her arms.
"Yep." said Blake.
"What's with his nose?" Ruby winced.
Blake feebly waved her hand, but the blood on her fingers were almost invisible in the shadows of the alley.
Yang nudged Adam in the leg.
"Hey, bub? You in some vegetable state or something?" she raised an eyebrow.
Adam didn't move for a while, but his shoulders slumped. He stood, looking dazed, and began to walk out of the alley.
"Hey!" Yang exclaimed. "Where do—?"
"Yang." Blake cut in sharply. "It's fine."
Weiss let herself off of Blake, hugging her arm to allow her some semblance of movement.
"Where's he going?" she whispered.
Blake caught his gaze as he rounded the corner and left. It was unlike him. So much that she almost couldn't believe it.
She interlaced her fingers with Weiss's.
"Away."
After they were sure nothing else would happen, Yang and Ruby went home. Weiss never let go of Blake. So she brought them to the park, just so they wouldn't have to say goodbye yet.
"What did he do?"
Blake shrugged. "Yell a lot. And he dragged me towards that exit. But that's about it. I'll get a few bruises or something, but I'm okay."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Weiss." Blake smiled amusedly. "I've had to tell you, like a thousand times already."
"Well, sorry, if I'm concerned for your well-being." Weiss huffed, crossing her free arm over her chest.
Blake's smile only widened.
"And how'd you find me?" she asked.
"We just kicked down every door we could find, honestly." Weiss shrugged.
"I was so.. Scared." she added softly.
Blake turned. Weiss was looking away. "About what?"
She shrugged again.
"..I dunno. Anything. You might've gotten hurt. Or.. Or kidnapped. Or something even worse, and I just didn't know what to do.."
Blake squeezed her hand gently. Weiss squeezed back.
"It was.." Weiss sniffled. "Overwhelming, I suppose."
"Weiss."
Weiss turned, her eyes red and her lip trembling. Blake placed a hand on her shoulder. She hesitated, then trailed her fingers upwards until she was caressing her cheek.
"I'm here now, okay?" she whispered.
Weiss nodded.
"He won't bother us anymore."
She nodded again.
"And I'm not going anywhere."
Weiss didn't notice the tear falling from her eye until Blake wiped it away. They were frozen in time. It was just them. No one to bother them. In the quiet of that night, or any day after.
"Weiss?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I kiss you again?"
Red exploded across their faces. They both could see it. And they just giggled like excited little school girls.
Weiss glanced around, wanting just another confirmation.
"There's no one here."
"Yeah, I know."
Weiss grinned. "Then go ahead."
Jungkook friends to lovers, angst and smut. Inspired by Lana Del Rey's California. Please leave feedback if you'd like more.
It was a rare rainy August day in California, the heavy drops creating a melody on the window as you put the dishes away. You were tired, lonely and the feeling you had in your gut kept nagging at you, maybe it was time to give up. Well into the second month of not making rent, it was only a matter of time before your roommates would stop exchanging house cleaning duties for money. Standing in the kitchen feeling stupid, It had taken way longer than it should have to come to the realization that in LA you were nothing, not pretty enough, rich enough, skinny enough or talented enough.
Gathering up the mail that was strewn across the countertop, you shuffled through to sort priority. Junk mail, bills, personal… one standing out in particular. The penmanship was nice, black ink, unassuming envelope, but it was the stamp that caught your attention, it was sent from Korea. The top had already been torn, the letter having been read, was cradled back safely inside. Addressed to your roommate a frown crept onto your face, why wouldn't he write you? It was a ridiculously  hopeful notion but you widened the envelope and inhaled trying to find his fragrance, something to trigger a happy memory. How many times had you borrowed his sweater just to have his smell on your skin? Cool California nights were the best excuse to wrap yourself in his scent. You missed him, it had been a year and a half since he'd last come around.
It was too tempting to resist, your fingers pinched the paper inside of the envelope and pulled it free.
"I'm feeling low, I don't know who I am, only who I'm supposed to be. What would life be like if I had stayed in California? We could all be roomates, hanging out and having fun, going to the beach on weekends. Does she even think about me? It sounds greedy that with how much I have right now, it's not enough, I would give anything to wake up everyday in bed beside her. I want more than anything to be able to talk to her about these things but I can't, I made the mistake of trading her for fame and now I'm destined to keep her at an arm's length so she'll never know the price I paid. How does she even see me now?  Just an Idol? Has she forgotten the days we spent together? I've been wrestling with myself, whoever that is. I wish I could be the teenage boy from that long ago summer again. I wrote this song thinking about it…"
~When I see you smile in the screen
You're good at everything
You're just perfect
Feels like I've never been you
Do you even see me?
Do you know who I am?
Or how do I look now?
You don't like me like that
I want to be your decalcomania~
"I'm afraid I may not get back for a while,  please write. Your friendship and thoughts of Y/N are the only things that are keeping me tethered to some semblance of reality."
JK
Clutching the letter to your chest your mind took you back to that day. "Decalcomania, the art or process of transferring pictures and designs. Making a copy of the original on a different medium"  You'd both laughed at the strange name, reading the description of the art on the museum wall during your visit so long ago.
California had lured you into its promise when you'd just turned 14. Having been accepted to The Movement Lifestyle Studios intensive dance program in LA you left all your friends for the summer. You were going to be discovered! It was July and it was hot, the dancers stepping off the bus one at a time to take their places in the studio. Looking around there were so many older kids, you were probably one of the youngest. They called out names and put you into groups, it appeared to be by age and you made your way to the tiny gathering of four. Shy introductions were made as one more member was ushered over to where you had congregated, "This is Jungkook." He had the cutest smile and barely spoke english but his eyes twinkled like the constellations.
Tumblr media
Immediately drawn to each other you became fast friends. Absolutely exhausted at the end of the first few days he'd knocked at your door. He was homesick and lonely, used to being surrounded by his six members and he couldn't sleep well without someone beside him. You let him crawl into bed with you, you were 14 and it was innocent.  Inseparable, days were spent side by side and the others referred to you as the twins. It was the best summer of your life. Promising through tears to keep in touch and stay friends you went your separate ways.
Jungkook would send silly videos of his practice sessions, goofing around with the other members.  He'd facetime and text but he always loved to send handwritten letters. They lived in a box under your bed and contained stories of how hard he was working to become an idol. He always signed off with an I miss you and a few lines of lyrics he'd written. You didn't know then how important they would become, the only tangible piece of him you could still hold on to.
Whenever he came back to America you did everything you could to see him. You went to the small tour stops when they came through in 2015, KCon in 2016, but 2017 was different. Facetiming you with the news that they were bringing the Wings tour to NY, Chicago and Anaheim, he asked if you'd be part of the dance crew. How could you turn down two weeks with Jungkook? They were getting bigger, more popular and their lives were changing.
Jungkook would sneak you into his hotel room so you could spend the nights catching up. He had rules, the fans came first and girls were
not allowed. Even though it was just friendship it could be easily misconstrued, everything had to be done in secret. The boys would bring in food and cover for him while you both stayed locked away out of sight. While you were happy to be with him, you could tell there was an underlying sadness he was holding on to. "I wish I could go and explore the city with you, like we used to," his voice trailed off. You were laying in each other's arms cuddling on his bed.  Leaning over he kissed the top of your head, "All I wanted was to take you on a proper date. I've been waiting so long to become someone, to become a man worthy of your affection. Now I'm stuck, I have everything and I'm not allowed to share it with you." His arms gripped you tighter, "I'm sorry, this is a terrible confession. I don't expect you to love me back, not under these circumstances, I just need you to know, you're the only girl I've ever loved and there won't be anybody else, ever."
You remembered every word of his confession,  every moment of that last night in the hotel room. The words of a 19 year old boy whose life had become bigger than the feelings of two people. He left in the morning without knowing, too afraid to tell him, you loved him too.
LA became home right after the tour left Anaheim. Focused on dancing, if you became good enough maybe you could tour with him. A letter with a big bouquet of flowers arrived a few weeks later.
Tumblr media
"Congratulations on your new house in LA! I hope that all of you are getting along as roommates, it's hard living with others sometimes. Last night I dreamt that I was there with you and all our friends, we were having a party on the beach and we sat together and watched the sunset. Remember after practice we would skateboard as fast as we could to the ocean so we wouldn't miss the colors? Maybe one day my toes can feel the sand there again. I miss you, I miss me… the me I am when I get to be with you. We are coming back in November for a few days and I'm hoping I can see you, I'm lonely already.
Jungkookie
~Won't you please stay in dreams
I can hear the sea from far away
Across the dream, over the bush
Go there where it becomes clear
Take my hands now
You are the cause of my euphoria
When I'm with you, I'm in utopia~
When The AMAs came, all of your friends in LA were involved with the awards production. Your roommates helped organize the coup to steal Jungkook away so you could take him on a real date. Having enlisted Namjoon to help, the boys would cover for his whereabouts. The day before the awards they were only scheduled for styling, as long as he wasn't late for the press rounds the next afternoon your plan could work. It was Namjoon's job to get Jungkook out of the building. Telling him to follow his lead, Joon convinced the managers that Kook must have eaten something bad for lunch and wasn't feeling well, he was whisked away to meet you at the hotels back receiving door. Sitting in the shiny red rented convertible you tossed him a pair of sunglasses, what you wouldn't give now to see that smile again. Barely giving him time to get in you'd sped away heading straight for In And Out Burger. "Jungkookie, I hope your ready for the best day of your life! We're going to eat until we explode, drink and party at the beach and then instead of returning you to your 5 star fancy hotel you're staying the night in my crappy little house with a tiny uncomfortable bed!!" He laughed, so pure and happy, thinking about it now made you sad. Was that the last time he got to be his true self, Jeong-guk the man not Jungkook the personna?
Knowing you only had one day to give him everything, one day to show him you loved him, you tried to make the best of it. Picking up the food Jungkook held onto the red and white bags in the passenger seat, sneaking his hand in to steal fries when he thought you weren't looking. If you weren't sure you were in love with him before you you certainly were now.
Tumblr media
Pulling up beside the tree on the beach he was stunned, "Ahhh Jagi, I can't believe you brought me here." Happy that it meant as much to him as it did to you, you both sat on the branch and ate. Two blocks from the old studio it used to be your escape, every break you'd make your way to the tree for a time alone, together.
With the burgers done he turned to you and smiled,  it felt like he wanted to say something, cutting him short you pulled him up and back towards the car. Making your way to the Movement studio the students were starstruck when he walked in. After insisting that he teach some choreography, he reluctantly led the class. Your eyes were glued to him as he moved in front of the mirrors, no longer that awkward teenager but a full grown man mesmerizing you with every move. You were careless, It didn't take long for the photos to hit social media. Getting back to the car he stopped you before you reached for the handle. Putting his arms around you he pulled you in close, "You stink Jungkook, I think our next stop is the ocean" You remember pulling away, how stupid you were, you should have held on to him longer. Reaching into the back seat you revealed a pair of swim shorts and a towel. He looked disappointed that you kept interrupting his attempts at intimacy, but you had a plan and limited time to execute it.
The Ocean was perfect, and the wind was warm, he came out of the change room with the shorts on but was still wearing his shirt. "Kookie, this isn't Korea, you don't have to be so modest here AND you may not believe it but when your skin is sunkissed… you look like a god." He raised his eyebrows and quickly removed the shirt at your request. Running into the water you splashed and played and he took great pleasure in picking you up and throwing you as far as he could. The sun was getting ready to set and you wanted to dry off before the cooler air set in. Leading him out of the water you both laid down on the towel. He put his arm around you under your neck and you cuddled into his side. "My god Jungkookie,  look at your abs!" He blushed like crazy as you traced the muscles on his stomach. "Stop, it tickles." he giggled. But you didn't, you kept tickling him until he held you so tight you couldn't move. He had you pinned and flipping you on your back he shook his wet hair flinging water droplets all over you. Pleased with himself he leaned in closer to you, his eyes asking for permission to kiss you. As the gap between you got narrower you could hear his name being shouted and footsteps running closer. He flopped onto his back and sighed as your roommates and friends piled on top of him. Eating, drinking and catching up with everyone you watched each other from across the bonfire. Moving from person to person he slowly made his way back to your side. "Welcome back, Kookie," running your hand through the back of his hair it was now or never.  Pulling him closer your lips finally met in the way they were destined, soft, slow and full of love. His hands instinctively moved to cup your face as the world stopped around you. "I love you," you whispered, nose to nose he smiled and it was the most beautiful thing you'd ever seen. It didn't last long, his phone started going off incessantly. The managers knew, the photos and videos from the studio had been discovered online. "I'm so sorry Kook, I didn't mean for you to get in trouble." His eyes turned hungry as he grabbed your hand. "Let's get out of here, you promised I wouldn't be going back to my hotel tonight." If he was going to get in trouble anyway, why stop now?
The drive back to your place was quiet,  adrenaline and hormones flowing like electricity through you both. The time for smiling was over as the seriousness of the situation hung in the air. It wasn't just being in trouble or being caught, but the fact that you both knew what was going to happen when you stepped into your bedroom. One act that would change everything between you, holding the power to change the dynamic of your relationship forever. Leading him to your room you closed the door and stood staring at him as he sat on your bed. He raked his fingers through his hair before he spoke, "I've never wanted anything more in my life than to be able to make love to you. BUT I also know that when I leave I'm not going to get to see you again for a very long time. Management is going to do everything to keep us apart and that won't be fair to you. I think that maybe we should just let our happy memories of today be enough, I don't want you to get hurt."
Walking closer you stood between his legs and he wrapped his arms around your waist. "The only way I can be hurt is if I never get to experience all of you. I can't live not knowing how it feels to be totally yours if only for the night." He rested his head against your chest, "You'll always be mine," his hands traveled to the hem of you shirt and his fingers ran over the soft skin of your stomach. Undoing the button of your jeans he slowly slid them down your legs and you stepped out of them.  Standing up he lifted the thin fabric of your shirt over your head and you stood before him waiting as he took his off too. Unclasping your bra he sighed as he looked at you taking in your shape, his fingertips hovering over your hard nipples. "I've never done this before," he confessed. "Me either," you whispered, "So, I guess the bars pretty low." His giggles cut the tension before he pulled you on top of him onto the bed. More relaxed he let his mouth start exploring your body. You were goosebumps and shivers beneath him as his tongue found it's home between your legs. He was soft and careful placing his lips over over your clit,  sucking it in delicately until your moans couldn't be contained any longer. You could feel his eyes burning into you as he watched in awe as his finger slide inside you. "It's good Kookie, please…i can take more." He sighed as his mouth picked up speed and another finger slid in slowly. Moving your hips to meet his mouth you were unravelling quickly, "The way you taste is better than anything I had imagined." Circling your clit between his words you came hard on his tongue. "I made you so wet," he said, impressed with himself. "I need to feel myself inside you." Moving up to where your head lay on the pillow he pushed your damp hair off you face, "are you ok? do you need anything?" he placed his forehead against yours. "Just you Kookie, I love you so much, please… I want you so badly." Moving slowly he lined himself up with your wet entrance. "Tell me if you need me to stop okay?" He pushed slowly and you could feel yourself stretching around him. He watched your face and froze when he saw the tear roll out of the corner of your eye. "I'm so sorry, let's stop, I didn't mean to hurt you." He thumbed away the tear, "No, baby… I'm okay… I'm just so happy, so overwhelmed with how much I'm feeling right now" he smiled down at you, pressing his body closer as he gave another push until he was fully inside you. Your bodies fell into a beautifully choreographed rhythm until Jungkook was so lost in pleasure he began to move at his own pace. Quicker and deeper he moved until he finally spilled into the condom.
You kissed, and kissed, and kissed until you fell asleep wrapped around each other. Every few hours he'd wake you up, checking to make sure it wasn't a dream, making love each time,  harder and faster. It was 9 am when he caressed you awake once more. "I have to leave soon, I don't want to," he spoke nestled into your neck just under your ear, "Please tell me to stay." Your heart broke at his words, "If I ask you to stay, I'm selfish, you'll always wonder if you made the right decision. If I tell you to go, your dreams come true… " your voice trailed off,  "and I'll always wonder if I made the right decision," he finished.
Your phone started ringing and you knew time was up. It was Joon, "I'm outside, sorry, I held them off as long as I could. I told them I'd come get him so you could at least have time to say goodbye." Your tears fell out in heavy ugly sobs, "Okay, five minutes… and Joon… thanks, I know you're probably in trouble too." Hanging up you turned back, Jungkook was already out of bed with his clothes thrown on. He stood with open arms waiting,
 "Thank you for yesterday." Laying your head against his chest you took a moment to listen to his heartbeat. You could hear him sniffle, and knew he was crying. You flashed back remembering that night long ago when he came to you homesick, holding you so he could sleep while he tried to hide his tears. There was a knock at the door and
Namjoon's voice broke through the moment "We've got to go Jungkook." Stepping away you'd left his shirt soaked in tears, handing him his sweater he pushed it back towards you, "keep it." He kissed you one last time and turned the handle opening it to reveal Namjoon. His Hyung put his arm around his shoulder and led him to the car.
Tumblr media
Turning one more time he eyes were filled with tears and he gave a small wave before getting in the back of the big black sedan.
For months you pretended that management was the only thing keeping you apart. You held onto your silly notions until May, they were coming for the Billboard awards. For weeks leading up to them you waited for a message, a secret meeting arrangement, but you got nothing. His image was all over the TV and his voice echoed through you empty heart and then he was gone again.
Now, here you stood in your kitchen, his letter bringing him to the forefront of your mind,  opening old wounds. He was just as sad as you but what could you do? Picking up a pen you began writing…
I shouldn't have done it but I read it in your letter
You said to a friend that you wish you were doing better
I wanted to reach out but I never said a thing
You don't ever have to be stronger than you really are
And honey, you don't ever have to act cooler than you think you should
You're brighter than the brightest stars
You're scared to win, scared to lose
I've heard the war was over if you really choose
The one in and around you
You hate the heat, you got the blues
You're changing like the weather, oh, that's so like you
I'll pick you up
I'll catch you on the flipside
If you come back to California
We'll do whatever you want, travel wherever, how far
We'll hit up all the old places
We'll have a party, we can dance till dawn…
October came and a chill was in the air, the smell of winter hit your nose and you stopped to take it in. Bundled in Jungkook's hoodie you threw your bag over your shoulder and began your walk to work. Movement had hired you on for a new intensive program and today you were going to meet your students. So many memories flooded your mind as you made your way through the familiar neighborhood. It still hurt but things were beginning to feel happy again. Writing the letter had given you closure, he knew how you felt and beyond that there was nothing else you could do. Opening the heavy door to the studio you caught a familiar reflection moving in the mirror writing something on the glass, It couldn't be? Hearing the door click back into place he turned to face you, "Hi." he walked towards you slowly, unsure of what your reaction would be, he approached with caution. "Hi," you were breathless, in the months of not seeing him he'd grown more handsome. "I can't change what happened… and for the rest of my life I'll be sorry for all of the time we missed." He was getting closer,  "But I can't take another day not knowing if I can fix this… somehow…" he reached for your hand. Pulling it back away his head fell in disappointment, "Jungkook, I can't listen to this… look at me," reaching for his chin you pulled his head up until he was facing you again. "I refuse to listen to you apologize for something that was out of your control. Your life was decided before you met me and I can only be grateful that I got to appear in some part of your story" he tilted his head and pressed a small kiss into the hand that was still holding his chin. "God I've missed you" he said as he wrapped his arms tightly around your waist. "How long are you here? I've got to teach class.. It's my first day but I'd love it if we could catch up?" He laughed at you and your knees buckled at the sound of his happiness. Taking his chance he pressed his lips to yours and you could feel the smile forming on his face. "I'm your private lesson Jagi, I've booked you for the next two weeks" Taking a step back you had to ask, "How Jungkook? What will you be giving up?" Pulling you back to his embrace he began to dance with you, "There is no more giving up… on anything. Our contracts were over and I only had one thing I wouldn't negotiate on…that's you."
Holding you tightly he moved you to look at the mirror,  'I wrote you something"
The only thing I can do
In the garden
In this world
Is to bloom a pretty flower that resembles you
And to breathe as the me that you know
But I still want you
I still want you
"Y/N I promise I'll never let you go again"
