Thinking about fiber arts within the scholomance. Iirc the only time we see it within the school is El doing crochet, but like. I cannot buy that everyone is primarily mending their clothes with magic. Fiber crafting is such an incredibly old and incredibly basic and pretty universal activity for humans. And those kids all have extremely limited access to new clothing, which makes all kinds of mending a very useful basic skill, especially considering kids could learn it early. Teaching your kids to mend by hand is one more bulwark parent can give them against the various hazards of the scholomance. And we know that spells can be woven into fabric, so there's also potential applications there, above and beyond 1) basic safety and quality of life from well-tended clothing and 2) potential to build mana via hand work that you're going to have to do one way or another no matter what.

But apparently nobody is darning socks to build mana? They have access to shit like platinum, but not wool? C'mon. A drop spindle is straightforward enough to cobble together. Wool *should* be an accessible material, either as artificer workshop materials or supply room stuff. There should be at least a handful of kids in each year spinning fiber (and building mana), and then doing darning/mending on commission (and also building mana again). And that goes tripply when it's established that magical mending doesn't actually replace the shed/worn away fibers!

Plus, fiber craft is ancient. No way there aren't a dozen traditional embroidery /weaving / knitting designs that act as spells. Protection against harm, but also things like preventing damage in the first place. Magic may provide an expedient quick fix, but there should be plenty of space in the scholomance economy for more traditional options.

I know El's whole deal is supposed to be non-representative re: mana budgeting and use, but also. If people are already weaving magical cloth outside the school, I cannot conceive of a situation where mending-for-hire or, idk, tablet weaving or knitting/crocheting to spec isn't considered a normal and desirable supplemental 'income ' source.

This could mean that, through the whole season, we are gonna see three important changes/plot twists, but happening slowly? And the three waterfalls Mike said could be the final product of those changes. Of course Mike and Will are gonna have romantic interaction in season 5. And shut up you milkvans 'cause it's undeniable. Like, really. It's confirmed Will's in love with Mike, so it's gonna be a important part of the season. And if we think about byler happening, we have one change.

Another change that could happen is El and Mike's relationship. 'Cause if they break up we will have a change that affects the whole series. And with that we have two changes. Okay, so, here’s one where I think the album cover definitely was intentional when they chose to put this song on his playlist. The same with “A Real Hero”.

In “A Real Hero”s cover, it looks very similar to the scene where Mike and El hold hands while like skipping away from that field (I hope you know what I'm talking about lol)

And in this cover it’s VERY similar to the scene where Mike lets El ride on the back of his bike??? and there’s 4 people on the cover (probably representing Mike, El, Lucas and Dustin while they were looking for Will)

firstly, let’s talk about labyrinth and Romeo and Juliet.

Labyrinth is a movie in which the main character is paralleled to Mike SO much that it’s scary. He even has a poster of it in his room. Go to @connect-dots7 to see more on this. In short, connecting to this particular lyric, Sarah, the main character in labyrinth and she has a big scene where she discovers herself and her sexuality and they’re not even slightly subtle about it with the sexual imagry. The exact same sexual imagery is used with Mike (and some other characters).

Romeo and Juliet is a couple that is paralleled to Mike and El in the way that they were doomed at the start. For example, they fell in love at first sight. Shakespeare used this trope as a joke because he didn’t believe in love at first sight and it’s the same with the Duffers. They also mistook lust for love. Also I’m pretty sure Romeo was sort of using Juliet to get over someone that he actually loved but correct me if I’m wrong.

All I’m saying is, I think this lyric is very important, especially with the mention of “heart”. He’s not following his heart, basically.

(I know discussion of sex is very taboo in the byler community and I don’t understand why? Obviously, sexualising them is different, but just discussing the sexual imagry isn’t bad because it IS there and the Duffers aren’t scared of it. @henrysglock explains it here in a better way than I ever could lol. the other story being told in s1

(had this in my dafts for like 5 months but i decided to finally get the pics and post since we're talking more about timelines rn)

they are literally telling us exactly what events would've taken place if the gate was never opened, the original universe. the sad raw reality of a horrible situation in a small town in the 80's. if the UD did not combine with the real world, if el never opened the gate and didn't escape the lab and everything played out as it should've. i'm gonna guess that el opening the gate and/or will doing something thrust the normal hawkins timeline into a different one, the one we see the entire series, while still telling the story of what happened in the original timeline, without showing that timeline.

will byers is a gay kid who gets bullied for it and abused by his dad which eventually drives him to off himself by jumping into the quarry. (what hopper believes too if you look at the subtext including hopper asking joyce if will is gay). his mom starts thinking he's not actually dead and goes "crazy" impacting her loved ones around her. will's friends cope by thinking one of the monsters from their beloved game is the reason he's dead.

mike takes it the hardest though and starts believing will is alive too, but his friends help him come to terms with realizing he's not. he eventually jumps into the quarry too, thinking he can be with will again. if el never opened the gate the bullies would've never chased dustin and mike there, and mike wouldn't be saved.

these two bikes could represent will and mike in the og timeline hence the pan and prolonged shot on them.

how will ties into this is very interesting. we know he does shit with his watch so he obviously is aware of things other people aren't and in control of time in some capacity. for reasons i will not go into and gatekeep for a lil longer only bc it took me 6+ months to figure out lmao i know he's totally aware of these two different timelines and might have some doing with shifting the timeline. just notice how he always looks immensely guilty especially in s4. it's also another reason why he feels like a mistake, because he knows he's supposed to be dead. he himself in the parallel universe we watch the show through is literally a mistake. he probably still questions if he even deserves to be alive now in this parallel timeline.

look at the dialogue and how they show the gate when this is said. literally showing the gate, a hole.

even having the bullies repeat this line

the biggest hole of them all...... literally in the middle of the hawkins community area.

will dying in the other/og timeline due to the abuse for being gay is somehow the root cause for this hole, and he knows it.

maybe that's how they'll tie his sexuality storyline in with his supernatural one, and why they're so incredibly linked. this is how he's the main character especially of s5 when they explain how will has always been the most vital part of the story.

adding to this since we know about the henry/edward timeline weirdness now, i think it's possible the og timeline = henry's and the parallel/one we've been watching this whole time = edward's. idk how well that lines up i'll have to think about it but it makes me think......

more NINA fuckery and are current El's actions showing up in '79 footage?

El's initial NINA confusion is setting in, and Owens & co are watching in the control room like "she's rejecting it".

on these four monitors you can see all 4 corners of the rainbow room, which is why I seized on this screenshot to map out the rainbow room cameras (with very architectural precision thank you) and get the lay of the land for the rest of this. I noted in red my names for the cameras and their locations in the room.

then I noticed that Henry and El are visible in the footage, which I noted in yellow. they're standing where they're standing during "well well" - Henry centered in the rainbow arch, and El is facing him and the double doors.

does this indicate that El running around confused is showing up in the 1979 footage?

"the "well well" moment really happened in 1979, that's what the tapes are of!"

is it? where they're standing on the tape isn't where they're standing in the "real" memory (if I can safely call anything that).

El and Henry keep having this same confrontation with her facing him and the doors. but when she finally braces herself to deal with this, she and Henry sidestep weirdly purposefully into this position - perpendicular to the doors. since she glitches into little El during this sequence, I would take this as the "real" memory - meaning, as this moment really happened in 1979.

if that's so, why not have them stand the same way in the tape?

or am I supposed to think current El's footwork just happened to exactly match what went down in 1979?

anyway, back to the cameras and what I actually started out this post for.

here's Brenner in the control room, having his NINA conversation with El.

why is one monitor on the right missing now? that's the monitor that was showing Camera B footage in the Owens scene up above.

could this just be a different bank of monitors than earlier? here's a zoomed out shot from the Owens scene - note the two heart monitors or whatever up above. maybe the table is scooted over a bit to get a better composed shot of Brenner, but this looks like the same place to me, no?

lemme zoom in and number these suckers so we can get on with this.

in case anyone's actually following along, note that the monitors in the Brenner scene don't correspond to the same cameras they did in the Owens scene.

although a monitor is oddly missing, all four corners of the rainbow room are still represented. however, we still have some interesting stuff to talk about here.

why is one monitor being spent on hallway footage?

Monitors 4 and 6 - that's Camera C view - are duplicates. accounting for a teensy change in monitor perspectives, I'm ready to call them exactly the same footage, down to the people in the room being in the same positions. I made it a gif because it's easier to see in motion.

Monitors 3 and 7 are weird for two reasons.

3 and 7 come from the same corner of the room - Camera B view - but they're not exactly the same angle. and these cameras are bolted to the wall.

I'll give you that they can probably pan left/right. idk that that satisfies me, but there's nothing that satisfies me about the second issue:

in Monitor 3, the puzzle table is pulled out into the room, and the plinko board is leaning up against the wall, not in use. but in Monitor 7, the plinko board is set up the way it is in the scenes where El plays with it, and the puzzle table is scooted over towards the wall.

I could just be misunderstanding how NINA works, which is 900% possible, but: isn't the idea to show El all possible footage of the same moment at the same time for the most immersive "memories" possible?

to plug this into the timeline theory: could I take this as evidence that NINA is showing El not just multiple camera angles of the same moment, but the same moment in different timelines?

El's "I don't understand!" shot spins around so we see all four cameras. the room is the plinko-not-in-use configuration (consistent with Monitor 3 I think).

but El is not visible in the footage on Monitor 3. she's not visible in any monitors in the Brenner scenes, as far as I can spot. if she was visible during "well well," where is she now?

one of the times El bursts into the rainbow room is a whole different time.

I'm not the first to point this out, but this needs to be said in this discussion. she enters the rainbow room 8 times in this sequence (including both physically walking in and respawning). actually... sigh. let's just look at all of them.

most are consistent: Two and Three are playing chess, I think Six and Seven are at those drawing tables, and whichever kid that is is doing his puzzle alone at the table.

Entry #5 is totally different from the others. puzzle kid is still there, but that isn't Two or Three playing chess. and they have the kid whip around to look judgmentally at El so we get a good look at his face. actually, who are these kids? do I even recognize them? and I also don't know which two kids those are at the drawing table, but they're both little white kids this time.

and - I realize this relies entirely on how I happened to number the monitors earlier in this post, but - 8 entries into the rainbow room and #5 being different... 8 monitors and #5 missing... that worked out nicely. also Monitor 2 showing hallway footage and Entry #2 being the only one where she didn't go out into the hallway (she just respawned standing in the same spot). but then.... if this was really anything, plinko should be set up in Entry #7... idk man, my brain hurts

final thought: you know how the lights flicker before she respawns? I gotta think this through more before I'm serious about it, but just to toss it out there: what if the flickering lights actually indicate not (just?) power use, but a timeline switch? I don't mean in NINA, I mean like, every time in the whole show.

this is mike getting vecna'd-- foreshadowing i know it

i know someone else has most probably spotted this before, but I just noticed this a while back and haven't seen a post on it so here it is. Choking is a common imagery this season/throughout the seasons so that's what sparked this connection in my head. Sorry if this has been said before i just posted this cause haven't seen it posted.

Argyle's Arm = The Vine

El = Vecna

Pizza = Vecna's Hand lol

Mike = Max // which makes since given how much they've paralelled each other this season.

Plus Max looks through the "window" of Vecna's mind and immediately sees a memory of Lucas. This = Will watching thru the window.

u can just imagine will saying "but I'm right here" in his head. man.

Not to mention there is a blue + yellow box right in front of El in the frame; Since El is the person doing the "vecna-ing" here, what it means is the union of Mike and Will through Byler (represented by blue + yellow coming together) is what's scaring Mike the most, it's his monster, it's Mike's inner fear and shame (that Vecna would love so much to prey on), it's what Mike does not want to try, just like the pizza. Haha good job, self, you got that one *pats self on the back*. Oh, and you know what? Since it's kind of in Will's line of sight, I think it shows that the idea of Byler is Will's "monster" too. The thoughts of his love for Mike probably haunt him at night just much as Mike's love for Will haunt Mike, but for different reasons. For Mike it's his fear of being queer and for Will it's a little more about the devastating feeling that he'll never be loved back by Mike.

Oh damn and also the lights right in front of Will are off, the ones that are separating the two of them. Probably maybe symbolizing how Will is being left in the dark, Mike is ignoring the light that Will provides for him? The light is dead because Will thinks he lost Mike. And the blinds are closed and a dark shade of grey, showing just how "blinded" mike is being in the scene.

OR WHO KNOWS maybe Mike looked at Will when the shot moved away from him, the directors just don't want us to know.

Now 1 more thing, TBH, i don't actually think it's positive that Vecna will be "Vecna-ing" people in season 5 in the exact same fashion he is in season 4. Maybe that's a hot take idk lmao. He changes his tactic every season, and I just know whatever new strategy he chooses will be very different because 1. he has to come back from the dead with a new body and 2. he needs to use a tactic that brings him closer to Will/El than ever before. Closer to their minds probably. But that doesn't mean he won't be use his mind-manipulation strategies on Mike at some point, i think he will, or at least Mike's struggles would somehow reveal his love for Will.

Sooo basically this parallel I've posted here COULD be foreshadowing a Vecna scene just like Max's to come for Mike s5, OR this parallel could actually just be a signal to the viewer, like symbolic imagery, that Mike is hiding just as much, if not more, than Max as of season FOUR, and he's going to have to face the consequences just like she has so far. He's going to have to let the truth show in one way or another, regardless of how. If anything this shows Mike is actually falling behind Max in her journey of revealing the truth:

--Max's internal conflict has been revealed to the audience; Mike's has not.

--Max actually looked through the window while being vecna'd, and she heard Lucas, but Mike didn't even look at Will through the window while being pseudo-vecna'd.

--That combined with all Mike's sunglasses/black-out glasses [which happened RIGHT before this scene in the pizza shop] imagery is a yikes lol. He can't see his truth. Gawd poor boy is in trouble. Alexa, play Blind by SZA please.

El is saving him for lots of complicated reasons. She believes that she will be "replaced" afterwards. She wants to make her friends happy. She may believe in a consequence otherwise. And because she of course wants Will to stay alive. Her life so far has sucked ass.

So she goes to her sister, Kali. In this case, Kali is the one conjuring hallucinations. Spider (negative) followed by butterfly (positive) [both have other meanings too but Not The Point]

El says "are you real?". She isn't sure such a thing as a sister who won't betray her could happen in this life!

This follows several hallucinations caused by Vecna, all bad (one involving Lucas, but Idk if that's relevant yet.)

Max has thus far believed that nothing as good as what she already believes El to be possible anymore, nor that she deserves it.

She definitely believes in Vecna causing yk Bad Shit if the El is fake.

ANYWAYS. Onto some POTENTIAL meanings!

The Lean TM is not inherently romantic OR platonic. El did not even KNOW Will and did not feel anything PERSONALLY about him when she Leaned in ST1.

She EVENTUALLY got to know Will- AFTER The Lean TM. THEN their relationship is platonic.

But initially- sheer desperation. WHO Will was had nothing to do with it. The outside forces, that being (oversimplified) El's desire to SAVE Will. Not any feelings she had towards him.

This then changes for The Lean TM 2.0! El and Lucas KNOW Max! BUT assuming this is about OUTSIDE feelings- desperation had RUN the FUCK OUT- replaced by SHEER FUCKING SHOCK AND TERROR because A) Max is literally DEAD right now and B) fuckin Vecna and the apocalypse

THIS information gives us a few potential meanings:

The Lean TM represents outside feelings. It is a contrast between the relatively more hopeful eyes of a twelve year old, be she alone, than the jaded girl two years later. But she's got friends now. And also The World's Problems still exist. (Dead children equals world problems, alone v w/ friends obvi, and hopeful but desperate v already dead.) Supposed resurrection represents that it is never too late.

The Lean TM represents that those involved will have their relationship to eachother, or their impression of the other, changed in the future. Even THIS could mean a hundred things in its own!!

Siblings-ass pair did it first, another elmax siblings thing, does that make lumax paralleled to siblings??? I am HESITANT AS SHIT about this one because the point of parallels indicating interpersonal relationships is the characters' feelings- and in The Lean TM 1.0, you could hardly call willel "siblings" PLUS it would be weird to make lumax be like a siblings pair atp imo.

In any case, it kind of seems difficult to make this about romo lumax *alone*

This is Max saying something that parallels an earlier quote by El.

The funny thing is, Max in Stranger Things Four is actually more similar to Stranger Things FOUR El than to Stranger Things Two El. They both have feelings of guilt right now, and have trouble convincing themselves that they "deserve" friends and family, or for anything good to happen to them.

In Stranger Things Two, El is ACTIVELY SEARCHING for this family rather than avoiding it (though ST4 Max moves into this direction as well, the former is more connected to the nature of Max's Vecna Visions)

It's also totally different from the nature of their relationships, let alone the types!

El at the point of quote one ONCE AGAIN doesn't know Kali at ALL. By the time Max sees El, she is already familiar enough with El to believe that she could conjure her from memory!

pt 2 to my post that i was too lazy to add an explanation for. i plan on adding more things too.

basically the first scene of season 3 is Russians using the Key to try open a gate. then in the very next scene, and throughout the entire first episode we get references that are related to time, opening doors (i’m still unsure what that means) and forgetting. which could be references to not only memorygate/birthdaygate, but also eightfifteengate, how the UD is stuck on that one specific day plus the possibility of time fuckery occuring. depends how you interpret it.

1) Mike and El make out to Never Surrender by Corey Hart.

"just a little more time is all we’re asking for" about the characters in both this and the previous seasons needing more time. the best example off the top of my head is Mike. in s1e1 he needs 20 more minutes for the campaign and this is the first appearance of a "fifteen after" which is the time Karen interrupts them. eightfifteengate exists for a reason, theres lot of 8:15 and fifteen afters in this show. and this sets off Ted’s tv not working properly, the lights flickering, Mike’s strange behavior (as if he wasnt himself huh) when Will mentions the seven, then proceeds to vanish. in s4e1 Mike is busy reading letters from El but gets interrupted as it turns out its ten after and he has to hurry. you see what i mean?

"cause just a little more time could open closing doors" again the thing with needing time and how it could open doors. i’m still on the fence about the closing/opening doors, whether its supposed to represent the gates, or something less literal like doors in your mind, maybe both. it also interests me how this scene has both El with the power to open gates to another dimension and Mike associated with needing time, being late.

Mike tries to sing along but gets interrupted, you see the pattern?

just while Hopper is watching tv, idk what he is watching, but the man is next to a car and talking about "working the lock" (again with the closing/opening doors), and saying to not look at the dogs *cough cough* demodogs *cough cough* but he ends up failing and looks at them.

Hopper then spots Mike and El making out. he gets upset and El uses her powers to close the door. Hopper runs up and insists it must be open atleast three inches and tells her to open the door.

2) Mike ends up leaving, goes to the cinema. thats where Will’s Spidey senses activate and he has flashbacks to the MF, etc. they are seeing the movie Day of the Dead, which is about a zombie apocalypse that ruined the world. they show us a scene of dr Sarah Bowman touching a calendar (again, time. and how the UD is stuck as a version of Hawkins at one point in time) then a bunch of hands bursting through the wall.

3) Jonathan and Nancy, in a hurry, because they forgot to reset clocks. so we have references to clocks which is Vecna’s thing, the characters being late and needing more time, and forgetting things.

All while Open the Door by Gentlemen Afterdark plays, tying this to that thing with opening/closing doors.

We cut to Joyce and these stupid magnets.

"love that was new to you" again, passing time. i also cant deny that somehow emotions, love, feelings, relationships could be tied to all this.

"you open up the door" in relation to the thing above, certain types of emotions could be required to either open or close the 'doors'.

"i fall in love with these. i crawl out on the floor" s5e1 the crawl, anyone?

also these certain lyrics in the song later on… "this room, there is no door. there is no waiting around. my mind, it has a door. it opens with a shout".

Dustin’s mom tells him that he was away and everyone could have forgot, then he looks out the window, as we get "you open up the door". memories, memories, memories. they are locked away behind a closed door that you just need to find a way to open. (reminder: positive memories give strength and can be used to fight back against Vecna and MF)

4) "some days wont end ever. and some days pass on by. i’ll be workin here forever…" some days wont end ever, like, say, the day UD is stuck on? forever…

5) an invention by Dustin he calls the Forever Clock. tied in to the above ^^^ with also the ref to Vecna, and possibly the existence of a time loop.

6) Dustin is showing off his inventions and we see Lucas and Max talking. earlier on he got sprayed at by Dustin. he asks if she has a new zit which upsets Max and she places him under the running water, specifically his eyes that got hurt thanks to Dustin, as he screams in agony. a method Vecna uses on his victims, he fucks up their eyes, and Max that goes out of her way to hurt Lucas like this, becomes a victim of Vecna and loses her ability to see, held by Lucas as she’s dying.

this convo when Hopper comes in to talk about how he bullied politely convinced Mike into distancing himself from El is interesting imo. we literally get a Master of Puppets reference, Joyce is the one that wrote the speech for Hopper to use. the master controls the puppets, and theres a lot of this in the supernatural parts of the show. the hivemind. MF taking control of Will and using him as a puppet. Vecna’s victims too practically become puppets when in the trance.

then the question if Hopper remembered everything - memories, as i mentioned before, specifically the good ones, are what can save the puppet. Max got the strength to free herself thanks to memories and music. Will couldnt cut off all the strings but still could break free for a bit to be able to tap out the Morse code in the shed.

getting to Mike is the key. could that mean that Mike will be necessary to "open a door"? Vecna already has the gates he needed, no point in any more. this can only mean unlocking a door in your mind, maybe even to access memories.

now, whose mind would it be? why, of all people, would Mike be the one doing this? and how?

Not Hispanic or anything even remotely similar, but Primos just makes me sad after I heard about all the inconsistencies. Because if there was proper grammar and spelling and not kids named Nacho, Fat (but she's skinny,) and Pussy, as well as the town name. Yikes.

Just lamenting because the creator, who is definitely Latina, said that she wants to make a show for ppl who don't belong. And I think it's wonderful, but she just did it wrong and guilt trips ppl instead of apologizing for her mistakes and fixing them. I think it could be a decent show if all those mistakes were fixed! Sure, the Hispanic family of like 20 ppl living in the same house is overdone imo, but idk! It's not too late to fix it.

But of course, Disney doesn't care enough. No one working on this show cares enough! The whole thing about people who don't fit in or have no representation is just platitudes at this point.

Or maybe they do. They did delete the preview, after all. Maybe they're workshopping it! But what do you think?

yeah, I agree it would be an okay show if the staff would handled the situation in the right way. actually, latinos (mostly mexicans, as op) love see our ethnicities represented! Thats why series as Mucha Lucha, El tigre or movies as Nacho Libre and Los campeones de la lucha libre are really beloved media for us (specially for the ones who grew in the 2000s as op)

In my personal opinion, Primos seemed to be something like Big City Greens but aimed to the 2nd generation hispanic (going to use the word "pochos", as we call them) and what it was filter it seemed somewhat charming. But again, the staff didnt know how to handle the situation and made everything wrong

okay so since you're an rvb mutual we are gonna assume rvb here anyway 👽

my favorite season is probably either s13, s15, or s8. they all have their own reasons.,......

s13 is just good because chorus trilogy, obv, but also the way the season begins decently light-hearted (given the situation) and quickly turns up until the point that epsilon legitimately dies is wild. there is a reason people argue it should have been where the show ended.

s15........honestly if s16-17 didn't exist i would also believe rvb could have ended there. we get more clarity into how our reds and blues weren't the only ones affected by the freelancers and while it obviously doesn't have the same character development as s13 (and the antagonist is definitely much more cringefail than the mercs) but the steaks are still high for our group of protagonists. their strongest fighters are separated from them and nearly killed by the most pathetic wet rat imaginable and the way tucker feels after realizing he was being tricked by temple, the way caboose is trying to cope with church's death, the way sarge isn't able to settle, the way simmons and grif go insane without each other, the way lopez being able to be just a head is critically plot relevant, the way donut's arc in s16-17 is foreshadowed, and like...temple's backstory is so much worse when you think about how there could have been a whole number of sim groups that were negatively impacted by freelancers yet oblivious to their situation until temple found them...and no matter how good we see our ex-freelancers, or how good the other ex-freelancers may have been, it really shows how they hadn't considered this part of their past to ever catch up to them. even as temple is monologuing to wash and carolina as he traps them, saying "i was worried you might recognize my voice" and the like, she doesn't even pay him any mind, which feels representative of how little she had thought of what she did to freelancers in the past. this is the season where carolina really realizes all the wrong she had done (which...........also should have been done more with sharkface so they could have referenced him in s15 but whatever) and. and like . god this season

oh and s8's finale fucking bangs though it has to be the most heroic/cool finales we get considering it is the most feel-good imo since epsilon doesn't actually die/go away forever at this point and the action here is awesome in comparison to s15's, considering combat prowess is not relevant to why temple was a threat. s8 is also great just as a whole of how it is the finale season of the first arc that breaks us free from the goofy nature of bgc and it gives way for questions on project freelancers to be touched on in the next arc. but yeah idk this one bangs

i usually use the tags but i need to be able to type freely for this. so i was thinking about that too but there are so many interpretations that coexist, regardless of whether they confirm each other, especially when you add taissa and other eye motifs to the mix. first thing you think of with eye symbolism is clarity and how the loss of one is the loss of it + the man with no eyes first appears when taissa's gm dies, then we see dead cabin guy and the emphasis put on his empty eye sockets. so then no eyes = total lack of clarity/perception = darkness = death, approximately?

and sure ok but then when u compare that to the (metaphorical) loss of a single eye and what that actually means in the show thennn idk. i really like religious allusions especially abrahamic ones & there's a lot of that in the show so that's where i'm going. the eye sammy kept drawing and the remaining one on his doll and the ones on the teddy bears could symbolize el eein (the evil eye) which brings malfortune to whoever it's put on (in islam & judaism). you can ward it off with prayers or an amulet depending on the religion, so maybe lottie was right about the symbol being a protection thing? however the wilderness, whatever that is/represents, seems to have a transactional relationship with the team. it wants bloods. the yellowjackets are rewarded when it is spilled and punished when they try to leave or don't act like they worship whatever's keeping them there. it wants to trap them into a cycle of sacrifice in exchange for their survival.

so when laura lee tries to leave -> her plane explodes. when jackie refuses to let go of civilization and accept the violence of the wilderness -> it snows heavily and she freezes to death (same thing kind of happens when nat and lottie treat the hunt like game and not a serious ritual -> they both almost die of hypothermia. almost, because nat & lottie are the most connected to it. it's like being made to stand in the corner for a while). so for now i mostly think the teddy bears were foreshadowing the wilderness' biblical "an eye for an eye" principle, coupled with the evil eye thing. and the use of a teddy bear itself to communicate that, is, as put in the og tags, jackie and laura lee pertaining their innocence by dying before they could be corrupted. and the eyes being on opposite sides def suggest a duality between them but there are so many and i already typed a lot

so has anyone heard of ley lines? they are real things but also are common in sci-fi (which ST is sci-fi). do yall think maybe they could be what those splits in Hawkins are representing?

I'm going to provide some information about them and maybe some theories that could be built off of them.

let's start off with what they are irl. they are lines that crisscross the globe like latitude and longitude lines. (remember the map and Suzie giving them the cordinents, they followed the latitude and longitude to find Nina where the X is...where El was...and now there's a big X in Hawkins...could be nothing or could have been directly trying to tell us something who knows)

"along these lines there's concentrated energy that can be harnessed by certain individuals" (now if these are ley lines this could be something interesting that could be incorporated into s5)

"there is a straight line that connect seven different landforms that bear the name Michael, or some form of it"

this could indicate that Michael is an important part in s5, he is the heart after all. but also 7...funny.

"many people have drawn their own ley lines to prove just how coincidental they can be, connecting everything from pizza restaurants to movie theaters to churches on maps"

I just thought this was interesting since in s4 we see all these things or they are at least mentioned.

if these really are whats going on then what if they aren't just fighting real monsters but monsters of their minds, their emotions (or maybe thats what the monsters have always been idk just turned physical idk). MONSTERS OF THEIR OWN MIND. this not only would fall perfectly into play for coming of age since that's just what happens around that age especially with puberty(the kids ages) but a lot of people are theorizing that they recorded parts of s5 already due to some people at table reads that didn't show in s4 also Noah in his final outfit but at the rollerrink.

id be interesting to see these emotions coming to light in s5 and it would definitely add to the conflict

these lines were probably always there just the upsidedown hadn't come through yet. maybe there could be a positive energy vortex at the Byers, specifically castle Byers hence the castle part mentioned earlier (the dog barking) that could be how Will stayed safe bc of a positive energy vortex

Negative vortexes spiral downward in a counterclockwise motion and create a draining or depleting energy. Cats tend to be attracted to them.

to close a negative portal: negative portals spin counterclockwise. To close them, first locate the center of the portal then invoke the prayer to Archangel Michael, then spin the Violet Flame/Amethyst crystal clockwise into the portal

could El maybe have to go into the upsidedown to close it for good? bc the upsidedown is in the past so you have to bring it clockwise like bringing it to the present? El restarted Maxs heart maybe something to do with that? idk just ideas

the heart of the dragon...would the the center where the split is right? they couldn't enter there bc the force would be strong and active. could they maybe in s5 have to go into the upsidedown as groups at each gate and each face a different thing like the gates in the neverending story. they will have to find there way to the heart of the dragon (the heart of the upsidedown) to destroy whatever is there. which is why their hearts are important, like Will says Mikes the heart, Mike is his heart. hearts can represent love, love will probably be how they defeat Vecna. could that also be why El lost? bc the couples, the loves weren't intact? a lot had problems this season, but also self love was lacking too. El for example viewing herself as a monster. when she looked to Max the vines loosened, Max never treated her as different or looked at her as a monster which is why she could free herself and hurt Vecna. love increased and was able to hurt the hate. now I know this will make milevens mad but I think bylers going to be together, Mike is Wills heart. Els heart is everyone which could be why she went to the front while everyone was behind her, she will need their love to defeat Vecna but that will require the other relationships to be in good places, so thats probably why they are separated off into groups. all different aspects of love will be involved not just romantic, things like self love, friendship, family etc.

also wasn't the library where Will was found when he had those things in him, like they were killing him and draining the life from him. so maybe thats why its important, could be a source which is why I'd be part of a heart maybe.

everyone fighting vecna&the upsidedown??

this might be a reach but "you can fly" and "you have to fly" is what El is told, dragon's fly. I don't think they are fighting El, they could but I dobut it. but notice its feminine and masculine energy that merge harmoniously. if Els like a dragon and Wills like a tiger maybe that could mean they defeat Vecna together. let me have this please I love their sibling dynamic so much give me more of that in s5.

theres also this thing called The Crystal Vortex. its a vehicle, a gateway to be transcended, through the setting of your intentions and can be programmed for healing, manifestation, Soul journeys, accessing past lives, astral travel, attending Mystery Schools, connection with your Spirit Guides, Angels, Highest Self and all divine beings of light, love and ascension available to you. Ffs the queen of swords always pops up. Anyway yeah I don’t see him getting into anything quickly. He could’ve in the past but I think past relationships left him drained af and feeling alienated. I think he has a shit ton of walls up and is a lot more no nonsense now. It’s probably intimidating and more blunt to others because he wants to get to the heart of why someone is trying to get with him since so many people try to pull the same shit and fuck around with him like he’s dumb. He does not settle for anything other than what he wants. If he can’t find “the one” then he legit just rather be alone. What is he like in a relationship? When he’s in a relationship he really puts all his focus on that person and will go above and beyond for them. There’s a kind of masculine and feminine balance in him in the sense that he’s ready to be the go getter and take charge but there’s also a vulnerable energy and overflowing emotions. He works hard to take care of his person and make the relationship work . I found on the RAE website that "en eso" means entonces/at the same time, but I couldn't find much or examples to know if my sentence was using a variation of the same thing (e.g. en eso/en esa/en esos/en esas). The meaning of entonces/at the same time could definitely work, and an online translator gave me the translation: "It was in this state that... (the male characters did something)", which seems similar enough or the same. But I'm once again wondering about why it's "esas" since I can't think of what feminine object/person it could be agreeing with. Could it possibly be referring to something feminine that is implied/omitted that is, e.g. "En esas circunstancias"?

A lot of my google searches seem to be referring to "En eso ando/En esas andamos", which seems to mean "I'm/we're working on it", but it seems to be a separate thing. I'd appreciate any help whenever you have the time :-)

This is something I probably can answer pretty well, I think

My best guess is that you stumbled across something called femenino de indeterminación which is a quirk of Spanish that in certain cases you'll see things being feminine when there's not really a subject. It's usually done with la or las but it does happen with esas sometimes too

So for example, in some places you'll hear pasarla bien "to have a good time" (and in others pasarlo bien)

In some contexts you might hear pasarlas moradas (in Spain I think) which is something like "to go through a rough time" [morada meaning "purple" is often associated with los moretones "bruises", since "purple" is sometimes how Spanish phrases "black and blue", and el ojo morado is "a black eye" as in a bruise]

Another common one is apañárselas which is more common in Spain but it means "to manage" or "to handle something" or "to make do (without something)"

Indeterminate feminine [idk if that's the proper translation in English] is sometimes singular and sometimes plural

If I saw en esas I would assume it would be "in those times". It doesn't need to specifically refer to anything, but indeterminate feminine often packs an idiomatic punch

And you're right I think, en esas andamos to me reads as a corporate non-committal like "we are considering our options at this time"; sometimes the nosotros is used to encompass a yo when they represent a group or they're politely giving themselves more leeway. I don't know exactly, but it's two different things

You can say en esas ando or en esas andamos ... it both reads as "I'm mulling it over right now", but en esas is like "at this time" or "currently"
