instead of blasting away machia with his quirk for disobeying him, afo should've done this instead to him along with an apology
#would machia accept the apology is the question#but idk maybe he would've I just think it's dumb but very in character for a41 to react the way he did#maybe if you had gotten machia back on your side you would've stood a better chance against the heroes considering how badly they struggle#with him last time 😮💨#the anesthesia was the only reason they got the better of him in the last war#and he managed to fight off shinsou's brainwashing#so he would've been a great asset to have but sadly we know a41 won't let someone turning against him go so easily#should've just told machia I'm sorry I left you behind it was a mistake and I was wrong for it I need you please I need you now more#than ever fight for me and I'll give you all the love that you deserve and more once this is over#or something like that

need to draw what i look like when im Really not doing well bc i stg my face looks like a sickly victorian ghoul child. it is genuinely kind of fucked up fjfkdl i just felt my heart fuckin jump when i walked past a mirror bc im still not totally used to my longer hair length + my face is getting that bad sunken look bc of the sleep issues and everything else going on
#i think it's going to take a long time to readjust my mental image of what the body looks like bc of growing the hair out#i was doing pretty good remembering the short hair mental image but . i think the long hair just does nawt compute#when i was younger i genuinely didn't know what i looked like. i couldnt reconcile the fact that the mirror image was Me#now ik that was partially bc of the dissociative disorder but fjdkdl i think also the long hair is just. not me at all#idk if any of us internally have long hair. Kam has longish hair ig? but hers is curly and red and kind of messy#and LB has long hair but she is six yrs old so DBFHDKL she looks similarish to what the body looked like at that age#but long hair on a six yr old looks very different than long hair on a teen or adult fhfkdl#but once our hair gets long enough it'll pretty much always be in braids (or at least thats the plan!) so hopefully that'll compute better#it is just disconcerting to not be able to picture what u look like idk fhfkdl esp for trying to emote right in physical space#idk how we will even look with braids fhfkdl i keep trying to pull our hair back to see how it might look but its difficult#also. i have to figure out how to braid my own hair. i learned late how to braid OTHERS hair#but i feel like braiding my own is going to be a whole new set of skills to learn 😭😭 it seems rly hard !!#but i am determined to at least try. i want to have the hair that my ancestors were not allowed to have#i want to have the hair that they had forcibly taken away from them. so then i can hopefully honour them a bit w that#live with something that that they should've had!#... even though i feel like they hate me fhfjdl i still want to like. try. idk.#its not even just for the bloodline ancestors though. its for the culture and traditions as a whole#im sure there would've been some Métis or Swampy Cree person at some point who would have loved me as a cousin/kin fhfkdl#all our relations and all that. somewhere at some point one person out there is family in a way and would love me#idk. cultural reconnection is hard. idk what im doing and I've got nobody guiding me and i feel like a bumbling fool fhfkdl#the legal advisor/advocate lady was telling me abt the Métis stuff available in town though#and i told her im rly scared of going to anything like that or meeting ppl bc im afraid im going to be like a dumb whitey DHFJDKL#and she was laughing fjdkdl she said the guy in charge of this area is very nice#BUT THIS GUY ALSO DID NOT SEND US (MOTHER AND SISTER AND ME) ANYTHING WHEN WE GOT OUR STATUS???#and he's supposed to ??? and also he's done some weird things politically iirc 🧍 so thats ALSO why im kind of nervous#BUT THEN AGAIN. this may all just be hearsay from mother. and maybe he is a good judge of character and only knew mum from smth.#and therefore just. assumed me and sister are the same as mother. and didn't send us welcomes bc of that. I DUNNO.#i gotta meet him for myself one day i guess fhdksl but i am just scared 😭#ANYWAYS I AM RAMBLING SO MUCH. HOOOOLY. im gonna go try to finish this last ep of severance finally#🐑🌻

Chapter 2 Episode 15 Spoilers below!
Since Ace being the culprit has brought about so much pain to ace lovers, including me, I figured I'd make a list of all the good things that him being the culprit brings to us. Even though Ace will (probably) be executed next episode, that doesn't mean that nothing good came out of this, right?
-Ace's backstory may be revealed much sooner than expected! Before we would've had to wait for chapter 3 or chapter 4 and so on, but since Ace will be gone soon, almost everything not revealed next episode will get told to us in a bonus episode! (I think every dead person gets one of those? Idk if that's officially confirmed). I doubt Teruko's gonna find, like, Ace's diary in chapter three detailing his life story, so if we're ever getting the Taylor Lore™, it'll be in a bonus episode! Plus, a bonus episode would come out a lot faster than the whole of chapter three, so more Ace content sooner no matter what happens in it! And there's always the chance he gets picked for an FTE, since dead people are on the list of options.
-Ace canonically has neat, fancy handwriting. Begone rumors of Ace having illegible, traditionally boy-ish handwriting, he actually writes like a 19th century scholar and I find this very funny. More evidence for my 'Ace likes reading and writing and wanted to become a romance author' crack theory, since he also reenforced his particularness about vocabulary in chapter 2 part 2. (Our only remaining question: Does Ace actually have terrible spelling ('responsibel'), or did he just think Eden would?)
-Ace is very good at being sneaky and often overhears things he shouldn't. I can't wait for this to be used as a plot device in numerous fics ("XANDER YOU'LL NEVER GUESS THE SHIT I JUST HEARD DAVID SAY ABOUT YOU WHEN HE THOUGHT HE WAS ALONE").
-Ace will have to be included in the dead (formerly a) trio posts forevermore. Get ready for Xander-Min-Arei-Ace shenanigans.
-Now that the cast has been forced to acknowledge that being dumb and angry aren't Ace's only traits and that he's just as human as the rest of them, Ace is much less likely to be seen as just those two things by the average viewer. Ace's popularity, or at least the amount of dislike towards him, seems to have shifted since the last episode, and I'm happy more people are able to enjoy what his character has to offer now. He's a cool little guy. I've literally NEVER seen the Ace Markey tag this busy before.
-We got so many cool Ace CGs guys. SO MANY. Including one where he's hanging upside down on the swing set and looks weirdly cute for someone in the middle of a murder plan.
-Also new sprites! The DRDTdev gave Ace a redesign knowing full-well that it would only get a singular chapter of use, and I massively respect that. We already got some new sprites in part 2 of chapter 2 so far, and I'm guessing next episode he'll probably have at least one more breakdown sprite before he dies.
-For someone who no one in the cast liked, he's definitely going to leave an impact. He's finally made at least some of the cast realize what happens when they ignore the issues right in front of them. Ace shouts about how everyone hates him and sees him as an insufferable idiot? Eh, probably nothing, we don't have to worry about that. Sure, multiple people told him he's gonna die next in here, and he almost got murdered, but that won't amount to anything. What's he gonna do, murder someone--WAIT SHIT Ace step away from the Arei I repeat step away from the Arei-- (plus Teruko parallels). I'll probably go more in-depth about this sort of thing in a different post.
-WE NEVER GOT TO SEE WHAT'S UNDER HIS GLOVES. Kyoko and Mukuro both had hand-related secrets that connected them to the plot later on, does that mean Ace will have some sort of relevance to the mastermind or overall lore later on? Like a Mai tattoo situation? (Or maybe it's another thing that may be alluded to or discussed in the bonus episode)(Or left to interpretation but I hope not because I have so many theories).
If you have any more suggestions for other good Ace-related things the culprit reveal brought us, let me know and I can add them to the list! We need as many good things as we can think of right now...

Mizi analysis based on the new comic ig?
I don't think that now suddenly Mizi is some master manipulator, like some people say, her other self is telling her that everyone died because of her or that she used and manipulated then which made her the sole survivor, this really might just be the by product of survivor's guilt, grief, and emotional damage, Mizi is literally experiencing so much grief rn, ofc she's not in her right mind and bc of her guilt for being the last one (except Luka but she doesn't care about his ass) she might start twisting things up and believe that she played a role in all of them dying. I feel like people are taking what mizi says too much at face value, I think that's unwise bc shes literally unstable rn (emotionally and mentally)
so it kinda makes sense that she'll try to justify (not really justify per se but I don't really know what word to use) it happening to her?? This might be a stretch but maybe it's like she's saying all those things of how she 'manipulated' them to justify why all of this is happening to her; that she isn't allowed to be sad or grieve because she was asking for it, making herself believe that she played dumb to survive, that 'she's so proud of her' (I'm not really sure if she actually knew about one of them dying, or again, just her self kinda villainizing her own self and convincing her that she knew all along.) bc in round 1, she genuinely looked surprised when sua died, so I'm really inclined to think that she really didn't know?? Anyways, I don't think that bc mizi wasnt as jolly and oblivious like in the comic like we all thought, that it means that everything she did was now all fake, her actions, feelings, and love were not fake and it seems pretty clear to me. This new comic doesn't really change my view on Mizi all that much, like bc I'm 55% sure that it's just her guilt that was talking and that's why it's saying stuff like she played dumb (which could be true to an extent but I'm pretty sure she might be exaggerating it a bit) and tbh, I would've actually believed that Mizi was actually like this and it's not just guilt talking if they actually gave some clues from the start or implied it a bit so that we could look back and be like 'ohhh so that's why'. Or something like that. This shift in her character feels very sudden and felt a bit uncalled for and only for some shock value (my opinion) but when I think about it the way I do, it kinda makes sense, idk I'm trying to make sense of it. (As much as I LOVE toxic and messed up characters, Mizis felt just way too sudden (I'm only referring to the part where we can see R1 mizi talking to her and saying that she played dumb or tricked people, I think the comic backstory of her being objectified and her reaction (which kinda creeped me out, sorry mizi, its just ur expression) are real aswell as her slapping Sua and the thing with Till)
I would talk more about how that unnamed boy (he should go to hell) who was such a creep and how that interaction really reflects on real life, (obv) and how it's kinda interesting that Mizi knew all along that Till liked her (and Till ok with her knowing, and doesn't seem to care?) but there are far better analyses of those topics on here
(Still manifesting that Sua somehow returns and meets Mizi, that would be soo interesting)

(just wanted to add those images, agh cant get over it..)

I'm writing my thorough review for rebirth because I'm kind of obsessed right now and I want to !!EXTREME SPOILERS BELOW CUT!!
First off it felt SUPER quick, after the mosasaurus bit the movie just flew by and the end credits were on the screen before I knew it. Definitely dont like how the raptors only got like 20 seconds of screen time and the reason for the d rex 'breaking out' being a snickers bar wrapper that guy was somehow allowed to have in a lab where everyone is in hazmat suits was super dumb but whatever after fallen kingdom I dont really care about things making sense anymore. Now my opinion is maybe a bit biased because I fucking love Henry (and if he's not in the sequel I'm gonna riot—) and the dinosaurs' designs, sequences, and behaviors were amazing. I loved how they showed the rex and that one spino just chilling for a moment being animals. The ending was really disappointing, Duncan surviving was expected after he wasn't shown actually being eaten. Him surviving would've been forgivable I guess if there was some sort of explanation to how he managed to escape being within 5 feet of the d. rex. Not that I didn't like him or think he deserved to die in any way but the ending would've been more impactful if he didn't survive and maybe we could've had something more between Henry and Zora because of it. Idk. As for the Krebs, I liked his death but I wish it was more deserved. Aside from letting Teresa fall and planning to sell the medicine for a price only the rich could afford, he didn't really do much. Dont get me wrong, he was a piece of shit in general but you know what I mean. Maybe the whole DNA thing could've been a red herring for something more nefarious like I was anticipating, I just think he could've done worse to make his death more satisfying. While on the topic of dying, the deaths of the other crew members were great, for example the bit where the spinosaur dragged that one guy into the water and showed him drowning in its jaws. The titanosaurus scene was really nice and I loved Henry's little bit there, it was super adorable and aside from them somehow being hidden in the grass the whole scene was amazing and a nice break from the suspense. That being said, I would've liked to see a lost world type thing where the herbivores are shown to not be completely docile stereotypes, and with the titanosaurs having those long whip tails for no reason, it would've been cool to see them actually use it whether its against the characters or some kind of threat. And the river raft scene, from what I've heard so far, the reason a lot of people dont like it because of how much of it was spoiled in the trailers. For me personally (after my experience with dominion) I avoided all promotions, teasers, and trailers for rebirth other than the first trailer because I couldn't resist, so I really had no idea what was going to happen. And the bits I did see in the trailer were mostly changed so the raft bit was very nice aside from the rex teleporting in 0.2 seconds. But again after the jw sequels I really dont care anymore as long as the movie is enjoyable and the dinosaurs are cool. My opinions might change for the worst after I rewatch it a few times like dominion and fallen kingdom, but I honestly doubt it, in my opinion this was the best Jurassic movie since 2015. Here's my ranking of all the movies so far: 1. Jurassic park 2. Jurassic world 3. Rebirth 4. The lost world 5. Fallen Kingdom 6. Jurassic park 3 7. Dominion If you've read this whole thing thank you and I need to know what you think about rebirth, I WANT TO TALK ABT THIS MOVIE SO BAD IF YOU COULDNT TELL. GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS PLEASE

Also enjoying your Voltron watch! It's nice and refreshing to see the perspectives of people who haven't been influenced by the..."fandom" (please forever avert your eyes from the western side). Had the same reaction to certain scenes, so I'm like :D!!! when you get there too. I'm a big fan of Keith which can sometimes be exhausting because the fandom either mischaracterizes him or outright hates him for "getting in the way" of their personal fav Lance or Shiro while still apparently shipping him in those pairings. I also like Pidge but I feel like if there's anyone in the main cast people should be mad about it's her--whitest character the only one who gets everything and a satisfying ending to boot. Straight up the writer's pet fav.
YOU MEAN TO TELL ME ONLY PIDGE GETS A GOOD ENDING???? BRO???????
I uh. My fandom interaction is PRETTY LIMITED so far lmfao, and I'm enjoying it that way. I am not a big shipping person mostly because like. I think a good writer can make near anything work!
I am again, a little... weirded out... that the only characters not voiced by white people are 2 aliens who have thus far lost an awful lot narratively (Allura especially so, in a way that is honestly so poorly handled by the show it makes my head HURT).
Hunk and Lance for me are.... falling pretty squarely into the unfortunate trope of Ambiguously Brown background characters which is a HUGE shame! They're SUPPOSED to be main characters! More to the point, Lance is like, our audience surrogate! He is us! Having him fall away so much is like having us viewers fall away.
I don't want erase the fact that the crew that worked on this show was NOT all white people. That'd be a massive disservice to all of the non-white people who worked on it! But I do think that the show would've significantly benefited from more time in the oven to ensure that white-biased tropes that are VERY COMMON to science fiction and can be reinforced subconsciously were less prominent in the show. Sci fi is Very White as a genre in the US. It just is. A lot of the language of the genre is HWITE. That's why good writers that CAN will take time to work through that! Make sure that you're not reinforcing racial biases in your writing! (Especially if 5/7 of your main characters are not necessarily white even by alien terms) (EVEN MORE SO IF YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE CHARACTERS THAT AREN'T WHITE BE VOICED BY WHITE PEOPLE)
And I think that (so far at least) for all that Lance and Shiro are, as you mentioned, compromised in service of Keith (which they are to some degree for sure lol), Keith too is compromised as a character in service of other ones– I remember REALLY EARLY in the show I pointed out that they made him a hypocrite without ever textually engaging with it, there's been several other instances of shit happening with him and being dropped or altered or just ignored.
Idk I think the character I'm most angry for rn is Allura, who is being forced to shrink down and lose her anger, lose her competence, lose her CONFIDENCE for them to make this plot happen rather than just letting her be herself and having the plot arise from there. Closely followed by my seething RAGE about how they treat Hunk. Just. Ugh. Makes me nauseous. Makes my skin crawl. It's horrible.
Don't be angry for just YOUR favorite characters! Be angry that there was so much story, so much life, so much cool stuff completely left on the table because this whole thing was clearly so rushed no one could guard against all this dumb shit happening!
WE NEEDED LIKE A SECOND, MAYBE THIRD OR FOURTH DRAFT OF THE WHOLE SHOW DAWG
(That said I am only about halfway done with it! So let's see how it pans out!)

I''m gonna do an annoying rant here so sorry in advance to legit fans, but the universe 6 Saiyans kinda tick me off a little.
I personally think it would've much better if Cabba's backstory was that he was one of the weak Saiyan babies who was discarded into space and somehow ended up in Universe 6 (heck, that could've been all three of their backstories, just have them be abandoned at the same time, their pod coordinates the same, the Saiyans were probably lazy like that).
Their tails could've been explained as missing because they were removed for safety from the locals (like Bulma did with Trunks, although I just wish they'd let Saiyans have tails again). I don't mind Cabba as a character, but he went super saiyan WAY too easily for my taste (and that "tingle in the back" line from Vegeta fills me with more rage than Broly. Speaking of Broly...).
Califla is fine even though her entitled attitude did put me off initially, her sass is very Saiyan so it works. Kale however is infuriating beyond measure, especially how she's just discount Broly without what made him interesting. Her whiny, overly clingy attitude gets really grating. She never even met Goku so her shouting "Goku" was even more dumb than when Broly did it (and OG Broly's reason was pretty dumb already). I will admit she is better written in the manga, her and Califla being heads of a sorta space yakuza was neat, Kale was way less whiny and more sneaky which actually made her interesting.
Plus them being abandoned Saiyans would've been much more interesting thematically. Think of it, abandoned by the Saiyans for being unpromising warriors and yet now, with the Saiyan race destroyed, it's the abandoned babies who are the only ones able to carry on its legacy.
It would also give Cabba and Vegeta a much more interesting dynamic as Vegeta is the only connection Cabba has to his people, Cabba desperate for a connection. Make Cabba troubled over who he is and how there's so little others like him, maybe have him struggle with the fact he was abandoned for being a dissapointment and get THAT to be part of the reason he becomes a super saiyan. He could have the same fight with Vegeta asking about his heritage and pleading for help and Vegeta beats him down calling him a failure and saying that such weakness was the reason he was discarded in the first place.
But Vegeta won't let Cabba give up and threatens to blow up his planet which makes Cabba stop caring about his past and realize he doesn't need to appease the whims of a violent race that abandoned him. It doesn't matter where he comes from, what matters is who he is right now.
Then Vegeta could still do his pep talk, but now it has more weight because he's telling it to an abandoned Saiyan, in essense mending the sins of his forefathers, so it's good for Vegeta's arc too.
IDK, I actually like Super (the slice of life moments are the best), but there was some stuff I was hoping they'd do a lot more with and think it could be made much better with some minor tweaking here and there.
Toriyama tends to "Toriyama" concepts and characters out of existence out of convenience, I was kinda hoping with Toyotaro more at the helm, he'd restore some consistency, he does a good job of that in the manga. I mean Toriyama didn't have to personally draw the tails anymore so they don't present the same problem they did back when he was the sole writer/artist.
I know Cabba is supposed to be different, but making the saiyans of universe 6 so inately peaceful and mild feels like another step in whittling away what makes the saiyans unique initially, they were basically space spartans.
First the tails go (and with them Oozaru), then the reason Goku was sent to earth is more benign, Bardock's apathetic and brutal personality is lessened significantly, Broly's legendary super saiyan malice is rewritten, now there's an entire saiyan race that is less interested in fighting and gentle.
It's not that any of these changes are necessarily bad on their own, but they seem to be making the Saiyans as a race less and less brutal which takes away from one of Dragonball's most interesting conflicts: how can one desire strength and battle without being violent?
Goku's most interesting conflict in Z was admitting he was a Saiyan and letting Vegeta go. He openly stated that despite knowing it was wrong and stupid, he couldn't help but want to fight and recognized that as an inherent flaw. His desire to become stronger and fighting strong opponents was ironically his biggest failing and all because of his Saiyan nature.
Also, I feel Trunks and Goten were able to go super saiyan easily being around so many super saiyans as it seems exposure from an early age helps accelerate the change, plus goten and trunks had tranquil hearts (being innocent children) so it makes sense they'd be able to achieve that form being exposed to the power so much. Cabba had never seen the form before Vegeta so he should've had more of a struggle or at least a bigger arc to achieve the form

Imma rant about Ichigo and Orihime cuz your blog has waken a outrageous fire in me!! And rightfully so! I agree with literally everything you said(btw Karin and hitsugaya are endgame for me too🤭🤭)
Ichihime makes literal sense and it genuinely sucks as a ship and i don't get why the shippers are satisfied with the results. I asked my friend who he wanted to be endgame and answered Ichigo and Orihime cuz they are a better fit. LITERALLY HOW?!! I didn't go psycho on him cuz if Ichigo and Rukia ain't your cup of tea then fine. But why are people answers automatically always Ichihime?? Is it cuz they are canon??? Where the hell was the build-up for it then?! It is nothing compare to ichigo/rukia or orihime with tatsuki/uryu. Idk if Kubo was trying to punk us by pairing them up or not. I feel like he didn't plan our their relationship properly! People say it was obvious from the beginning that ichigo likes her back but i sure as hell didn't see it! Maybe i'm just salty and refused to see the signs cuz Ichiruki is the best ship( and i had a crush on ichigo since forever soooo... 😖😖) ?? I've always been a rukia and ichigo fan rather cuz they actually had the chemistry and insane connection. I'm so mad that they weren't endgame. My girl Rukia was elite why didn't Ichigo went for her and vice versa?? Don't get me started on the poems, the speechs, the way ichigo always and always thinks of rukia. Like the ingredients for the cake was perfect, why the hell would you put gasoline in there💀💀
Some people say that cuz the show is shounen and not a romance, i shouldn't be upset about ichihime ending up together and not be mad of lack of their romance. I'm not expecting ichigo and orihime to have some epic EPIC love story or anything just make it more sense for ME at least. If Ichihime was some side-ship then i wouldn't care as much, but this is the MC of the show i want to see something greater than what we received! If they were to have a love story(ya know a real one) then they should've played it out like in Fruits basket
Ichigo and orihime actually remind me alot of kyo and tohru from fruits basket. And they're all very similar to think about it! Ichigo and Kyo: the grumpy orange haired protecters that have a heart of gold. Orihime and Tohru: the loveable sunshine character that are super traumatized but still manage to keep smiling. The only difference is that Kyo and Tohru actually have the emotional moments and had the chemistry and ya know they actually TALKED and were ACTUAL FRIENDS(as in kyo didn't treat tohru like a acquaintance) before dating. But since Orihime is so much like Ichigo's dead mom, their relationship would've been like Yuki and Tohru. I know the comparison might be dumb to do cuz they are very different anime and different genre but still!! Excuse me for caring so much about that my fav ain't canon. Yes this is a shounen anime but they could've at least squeezed in a bit of the love story of the mc to show they actually care about it. The MC of the show has a better and stronger bond with his bestie than his own wife. Like how is my girl Orihime not bothered by it?! Should've end up Tatsuku i swear. I mean they're literally Nana and Hachi!! 🍓🐶✨
I feel like orihime just exist to be his love interest and that's it! Girl had the potential to be a great character that ain't always there to be the love interest. Her becoming a housewife was insulting cuz what do you mean she ain't a robot destroying a city (i can't remember that scene from the earlier seasons but something in between those lines🤣) I do like Orihime enough but not that much cuz it's Ichigo this and Ichigo that. Like girl i get it. I wanted(and still do) him too but don't settle for being the second choice) HOMEGIRL YOU HAVE OTHER LUCKY DUCKS THAT WANNA BE WITH YOU!!
And another thing: I read somewhere that: just cuz Uryu had a crush Orihime that, that doesn't mean that Orihime should be together with him.... Okay then why can't that also imply to Ichigo and Orihime?? Like why just cuz "She'll fall for him in every lifetime" doesn't mean that he has to do the same too!! Rukia is already the queen of his heart mind you
BUT ANYWAYS!! It's a shounen after all so i shouldn't be expecting the mc to have a well-written love story and not to have high hopes of the MC love interest to be something more than that. But whatever at the end of the day they're CANON and have a kid together so all i can do is cry about it and live in fanfiction.
Ahem, I'm done with my rant thank you 😌 (And yes anti-IchiRuki fans I'll still be salty in my 40s cuz of the ending and I will never shut up about it just cuz they have canonically have kids)
No worries, anon! You've come to the right place! Let it all out~
Not surprised your male friend would choose Ori. Typical. For dudes like him, her appearance, superficial crush on Ichigo, & the word "canon" being slapped on are enough for them, despite there not being any actual chemistry between IH. It is also a common trope in other manga/anime, so they convince themselves that it was meant to happen, but it doesn't mean it makes sense for every story, especially not in Bleach's case; it doesn't make narrative sense if they actually looked into it.
(Canon ≠ good. Just look up what went wrong in 'How I Met Your Mother' or even 'Game Of Thrones' S8).
(While on the subject, since Rukia is a much better written character than Ori, if she had a body like Ori's, & Ori like Rukia's, even less dudes would care about IH 🫢, since they never even have good arguments in favor of it that aren't the 3 things I mentioned already up top).
Ichigo & Rukia had the most chemistry in the entire manga/anime, & it baffles me when people didn't/don't (wanna) see it. I went into Bleach almost blind when I first started watching it & IR really stood out. Their bond is right in your face, playing along the border between platonic & romantic, making you wonder what exactly it is, but knowing they aren't just mere friends. In the manga, I was constantly awed & amused by how borderline romantic it came off as, despite having already watched the anime (which did not do the manga justice in many ways; and then antis claim IR was mostly anime-based, PLEASE 🙄). Kubo really wasn't playing when it came to these 2. What a freakin' troll.
Haven't watched Fruits Basket, but I can see what you mean. Grumpy & Sunshine is a fun trope, however, as you said, IH just didn't have what it takes. If Kubo had wanted to, he could have properly developed IH at some points in the manga, such as the Fullbring arc, & it wouldn't have to be anything big, as Bleach is not a romance. He could have opened the arc with those 2 already going out, like them holding hands as they head to school or something, maybe showing some flashbacks of them talking things out, comforting each other since HM to show how they got together. Instead, in those 17 months since Ichigo lost his powers & contact with Rukia, you're telling me Kubo couldn't make IH bond? Instead, Ori's still pathetically pining after him while Ichigo is still thinking of, longing for, Rukia! How am I supposed to believe IH was meant to be endgame?!
Orihime had more chemistry with other people than the man she ended up with 💀. I personally ship her with 2 other men (Ishida & Ulquiorra). She was different with them. One selflessly cared for her, had her at the forefront of his mind in her own rescue arc (unlike Ichigo), while the other challenged her, found her fascinating & wanted to learn more... Not to mention they both protected her from Ichigo a couple times in the HM arc.
She really did have potential to be a great character but it all kept going down the drain, never achieved her dreams nor goals. She kept regressing as the story went on, especially when it came to Ichigo. She was never able to encourage him nor fully support him & was usually a complete damsel in his presence (he even seemed annoyed by her during the Ywach fight, which mind u, she was only there cuz there was no one else left & Ichigo had no choice?). She was more interesting whenever she wasn't around him. All her best moments were when she wasn't thinking about him. Saving Tatsuki? Bonding with Ishida in SS, standing in front of him to protect him in the Fullbring arc? Bonding with Ulquiorra (the only good thing she did the whole HM arc)? She could've done more in HM but didn't. In TYBW, she didn't do anything special, couldn't even encourage Ichigo & was treated like a ragdoll by Ywach. This is how Kubo wanted us to remember her. She was mostly reduced to fanservice by the end (and she's still not as popular as Matsumoto or Yoruichi in that department 💀). I sometimes think he didn't like her all that much with how he treated her character...
While watching the anime, I seriously had been hoping she'd get over Ichigo in the SS arc when she wistfully said Rukia was a very special person to him who changed his world (oh, boy, was I in for disappointment). Right off the bat, there was nothing interesting/exciting about her interactions with Ichigo (I was shipping her with Ishida by this point). He was just so blasé with her, I almost felt bad for her & it only kept getting worse. I then hoped she'd finally get over him after the traumatic experience at the dome in HM, but her ongoing silly crush made my eyes roll & lose hope in it. LIKE GIRL, HE'S HUNG UP ON ANOTHER GIRL, & U SHOULD'VE STOPPED PUTTING HIM ON A PEDESTAL BY NOW; HE'S NO PRINCE CHARMING & ESPECIALLY NOT FOR U WHEN HE BARELY GAVE U A SECOND THOUGHT IN UR OWN RESCUE ARC & ALMOST GOT U KILLED LIKE 3 TIMES & U HAD TO GET SAVED BY ULQUIORRA & ISHIDA, LIKE-
Orihime doesn't have anything in common with Masaki other than maybe their appearance (which imo, Masaki looks more like short-haired Matsumoto anyway?). Besides the cheerful part, their personalities are very different. Masaki was more like Rukia: brave, strong, selfless, teasing & annoying Isshin/Ichigo, etc... IR has actual dynamic parallels with IsshiMasa in the narrative... Kubo just copied IR moments, especially considering he wrote as he went... So, don't be fooled by those morons who go by appearance alone & even those weird lines in one of the novels (Oedipus complex anyone?) instead of the legitimate parallels between IR & IM shown in the manga, such as these:

What was going thru Kubo's head if he supposedly "intended" for IH to happen? Ichigo & Ori had more chemistry with other characters than with each other. Kubo went about this all wrong. Bleach not being a romance is no excuse for shoddily pairing up characters in the end. In a few scenes scattered throughout the manga, he could've implied them. Every time they interacted, their relationship should've progressed somehow. And he actually did this with IchiRuki. (In regards to Naruto, for example, Kishimoto at least admitted he didn't put enough effort into his ships by saying romance was not his forte & he's not good at writing female characters, but at least most of the ships made sense & esp NaruHina had actual good moments scattered throughout the manga...).
Sigh, I've said this before, but why can't more battle shounens be like Fairy Tail when it comes to developing the ships throughout the story? There'd be less drama. Even Gintama did a better job at developing the main ships, lol, that if they became canon, hardly anyone would've been surprised (they were somewhat implied if u squint, tho 🤪).
There are theories Kubo wanted to spite Shounen Jump for their treatment over the years so he ended things this way (and maybe to spite the fans too, since his manga sales had been on the decline for years). Ever heard of the "choosing unhappiness" theories? Basically, remember that Ywach said he'd come back at Ichigo's happiest moment? Well, he didn't come back at Ichigo's wedding with Ori, not even at the birth of his son. He came back when Ichigo reunited with RUKIA after 10 years.
So what could this be telling us? That Ichigo chose to be unhappy by not getting with the one person who made him the happiest. Rukia gave him that push by choosing unhappiness first (since she knew Ichigo couldn't make the first attempt to) & married Renji, who in turn, also gave Ichigo that push to go for Ori. IR chose unhappiness to defeat Ywach. Could this actually be what Urahara meant when he said he'd leave everything to "Kurosaki-san & Kuchiki-san" after his defeat in TYBW?! (we deserved the IR tag-team we never got in the final fight, screw Kubo)
One could also say his friends chose unhappiness to help too? Ishida becoming a doctor he'd never expressed interest in & seeming isolated from the friend group (maybe not agreeing with the farce they're all in), Chad becoming a boxer instead of using his fists to protect, Ori marrying a man who doesn't love her & she knows never will, Renji marrying a woman who doesn't love him & never will (and whom I think he doesn't love either? My view on that here)... Isshin is nowhere in sight, could it be he also doesn't wanna be a part of this farce in which his own son chose to marry a woman he doesn't love?
Still, everything about this ending is so wrong, makes no sense, a bunch of retcons too. Heck, remember the rebuilding of Sokyoku Hill in SS? Made Ichigo destroying it meaningless 🙄.
Anyway, I didn't mean for this post to be too long. There's so much to rant about lol. There's also so much to make fun of 👀. As I said in this post, IH was never popular & never will be. Kubo himself can't bring himself to give them content & his affiliates (like Shounen Jump, Studio Pierrot, etc.) can't be bothered either, as IH doesn't sell. Canon for almost 10 years & still no official couple/family arts nor merch 😂. If they end up getting thrown a bone in the future, the fact it took them that long would still be laughable.
In the end, it's best to ignore canon, its fans, & engage with what you like. It also doesn't hurt to sometimes make fun of Bleach's failures~ Kubo has made it so easy, can you blame us? 🤷♀️
Also, glad u like HitsuKarin as well 🤭. Would you believe it's my #1 Bleach OTP? I had brainrot for it a few years ago, like I literally scoured almost every bit of content that I could find, & while it's died down, I just know that if Kubo &/or his affiliates were to feed us HK content now, I'd eat it up like a starving dog-
Sorry for the late reply, anon! 😓 Been having brainrot for a different fandom, if u can guess

my friend guesses the outsiders musical characters part three FINAL PART
(she has never seen the musical, read the book or watched the movie. all she knew beforehand is that there were three brothers, people died, and someone had a pony-based nickname)

Clary (came from a mix of Claire and Sally)
"she's literally gorgeous omg"
"definitely part of the forced heterosexual ship, probably with ponysweat" (for context if this is the first post you are seeing, my friend genuinely believed the main character was named "ponysweat")
"she wants to go to school and become a lawyer" ("I want to help people not go to jail!" - Clary)
"family trauma. with her mom, dad..IDK she's got some family trauma"
"mezzo soprano. I know I didn't do this with anyone else but she's a mezzo"
"she would've voted for Kamala"
"she's not friends with Irwin (Bob) but all of her friends are friends with him so she has to be around him"
"Maybe Irwin has a crush on her but she avoids him"
"she loves ponysweat tho but no one likes their relationship because it takes too much away from the main story and ponysweat's grief for Jonathan (not Johnny but Darry)"

Rick (was very unconfident about this)
"is that a beer opener or a pocket knife?"
"I don't think that knife means anything for his character/when you think of rick you don't think of a knife/it was just the prop the actor wanted in this photo"
"running joke that Rick is obsessed with his hair" ("I may have sexy hair but that doesn't mean I can't fight!"- Rick)
(she didn't have anything else to say about him)

Jeanie
"why is she here?"
"clearly a socialist"
"something in the show is definitely her fault/she definitely did something stupid"
"a whole section of the fandom is dedicated to defending Jeanie"
"friends with Clary I guess"
"no way she's single"

Fizzlepop (the story of how she got here is hilarious)
"third brother?"
"did Benny (her original name for him) die? there's no way two of ponysweat's brothers die!"
"dumbest out of three brothers but also the sweetest"
"HE HAS A NAME TAG! HE MUST HAVE A NICKNAME!"
"lemme look up names that end in "oop"!"
"scoop...his names not poop is it?"
"wait that might not be an o...it's a p!"
"who puts their NICKNAME on a name tag though?"
(looks up compound words that end in pop) "brainpop...technopop...lollipop..."
"what's something in the sixties with pop? A DRINK!"
"ITS FIZZLE POP! OR SODAPOP!"
(after thirty minutes she decided it was a three-way tie between fizzlepop, orangepop, and sodapop but from here on she referred to him as fizzlepop)
"probably a fan favorite if he's dumb and his name is fizzlepop"
"probably the fandom made him gay"
"he's with Jeanie but the fandom is upset because they wanna be with him"

Louis
"he is equally as mean as Irwin (Bob) neither of them are nicer than the other"
"he says a joke about golf at one point"
"more of a fighter than Irwin/he's the brawn to irwin's brains"
"Louis looks uncomfortable with his rich jerkiness! Or he's adjusting his shirt."
"Devious"
"definitely a bad student"
"Irwin/Louis is a popular ship. Wait would fandom ship two people that nobody likes?"
"he definitely dies"
#the outsiders musical#cherry valance#johnny cade#sodapop curtis#marcia the outsiders#paul holden#I just decided to do the rest of them here

some daredevil born again thots i compiled that no one asked for
Memes, unhinged ramblings of a man too invested in this character, and major spoilers ahead
> So, Foggy's Death lmao <- actually dead inside
Like, I knew it was coming. I knew it. You knew it. We knew it. We've seen the set leak pics of him on the ground. We watched the fight teaser with Bullseye. I've seen all episodes of Game of Thrones - i know that modern shows will Just Do That for the shock value/clickbait. Like, I get it. I think I gasped and then rolled my eyes when it actually happened because OF COURSE it was gratuitous and bloody and in the first 10 minutes of the show. Of course.
My problem was how little....decorum they actually did it with???
>The show opens up with Karen, Matt, and Foggy in a humble storefront. We fast forward to Josie's and instead of hanging out with Karen and Matt, Foggy is trying to schmooze up Kirsten at the bar. Which, fair. Kirsten is hot. but while the other two secretly peanut gallery the whole thing? Which, like, if you are only going to give this beloved side character their spotlight for 15.6 seconds before smiting him like a child with a magnifying glass over an ant, can we at least get some bantz from all of them? Is THAT too much to ask for on this shitshow ride from hell??
>We also have the short argument on the sidewalk where Foggy is all "i didn't want to give you an excuse." Like HELLO??? HOW MANY YEARS HAS IT BEEN??? AND FOGGY STILL HASNT RECONCILED THE FACT THAT MATT IS DAREDEVIL?? like ok i know that they're both clinically incapable of talking about their feelings but at some point Karen would've gotten them together or hell, the the both of them, would've gotten really drunk and sat down and actually talked about this right??
Anyway Matt struts sluttily off screen atp to take care of whatever fight is about to happen, leaving Foggy thinking he's pissed at him 2 minutes before Bullseye shows up and pew pews him in the chest. Every other extra in this fight takes it to the cranium so this is my hope point #1 that this is Foggy death fake-out and not the real thing but also angst writers come get y'alls juice ig because you know Matt rotates that in his brain at all hours of the day like a rotisserie chicken
>which also the use of smoke bombs....baby what are you going to do to Matt? He's blind and now you just obscured your own vision? dumb dumb
>loved Karen never lackin, always pistol packin, with them automatics we gonna send you to heaven Page.
>Matt's suit.... 🤢🤢 like it's Disney i get it i get it i can't get over the mcu butthole lickers on twt claiming it looks good though lol maybe the later iterations will look better
>I think the fight choreo is fine but they spent too long huffing and puffing against the wall. Which I always liked in previous DD fights because these are Just Some Dudes fighting and not superstar Captain America or whatever. But I think they laid it on a little too thick. That's a nitpicky take though
>Anyway back to Foggy's death - Matt is understandably not fucking around now as he listens to his boyfriend's death rattles on the sidewalk. Bullseye?? Fucking fantastic. The giggling in Matt's face, the crazy eyes, the lightbulb fix in the beginning?? Chef's kiss. He really knows how to sell it. It was giving Green Goblin smacking Spider-Man in the head levels of unhinged
> Matt listens to Foggy's heart stop and fucking just throws/pushes Dex off the building they are on. Very much a kill strike. I expected more...idk build up? Exposition? Especially since man's whole reputation is built on not doing That. But nah. Just. this bitch empty YEET
> Karen having to hype herself up to turn around and check who it was was probably the most riveting performance in that whole scene sequence. Deb does such a good job acting that part. Also *snaps fingers* angst writers..... buffet is served here
> WHICH WTFFF WHEN BULLSEYES OPEN HIS EYES ?? I literally said aloud "ok now do that with Foggy" i get that Dex is augmented but also.....didn't know a Super Spine meant he turned into the 6 million dollar man and also immortal. Alexa, play My Immortal. That's never been done before in DD franchise.
>Now we fast forward a year. No funeral. No fucking funeral. Like goddamn even Father Lantom got a funeral 🚶♂️🚶♂️ No closure. Foggy's just....gone. So that fucking sucks. I really was tempted to turn off the show ngl and not give the mouse the satisfaction. I wonder if they collect stats like that. "Oh! we saw a drop at the 13 minute mark of this show. Maybe we shouldn't have killed this beloved character off hmmm" < They're not capable of introspection like that
>However no funeral = no body so #2 hope point that Foggy survived somehow (ignoring the pan over his dead body in the previous scene)
>Just Matt living in some DR Horton highrise in Manhattan. There's not even a billboard to explain the lighting. This show SUCKS
> He has a new firm with Kirsten ! No news as to where Karen is yet. He's also pulling the Waid Run "I'm totally a Chill Guy with no emotional issues 😎 ignore the fact that I carry my dead boyfriend's memorial card over my heart in my breast pocket wherever I go I'm in peak mental health"
>The banter. I also expected this as Disney loves trying to turn every white brunette man protagonist into Tony Snark 2.0. I think Kirsten is great. I think Matt is... eh. To me, it's feeling very Waid Run again with the lighthearted banter. Part of the reason I think this though is Charlie played NMCU Matt very autistic a little awkward. Like the banter in NMCU was good because it felt authentic because Matt is a little closed off /cagey naturally due to his past !! Now though, especially after the Trauma of the last scene, feels disingenuous (but maybe that was the point idk) for Matt to be Mr Sunshine and Rainbows on the day he is expected to witness in Dex's murder trial. Expected that to bring up more conflicted feelings personally

>It's also revealed at some point that Matt hung up the horns and to let the system take its course. I expect some speech about how "this is what Foggy would've wanted blah blah" in later episodes.
>Karen's here! She looks so good in bangs. Apparently she moved to California. Hope she went the actress route like in the early runs of DD and is starring in Avengers: The Musical: The Movie. I'd cast her as Black Widow.
>Apparently they didn't split on good terms. Bad communication from both ends. Matt fell off the face of the planet and Karen can't be assed now to call him back. Foggy's in his bacta tank recovering off screen shaking his head like "YOU IDIOTS YOU FOOLS JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER"

>The closure seemed so forced on the old crew ngl. I know Karen comes back but I have a feeling that's gonna be more for Frank than it is going to be for Matt... if you wanted to tell your own story with your own characters, then they should've just committed to the bit and DID THAT but nooo gotta cocktease us with NM&P for 10 minutes before axing them. Feels...cheap and a little offensive to the old fans. I hope it gets better.
> Also apparently Vanessa has taken over Fisk & Co. And Fisk is running for mayor now. Uhhh oh wait now he's mayor now. Oh but he's a good guy. Nope actually back to his old ways immediately with that pic and commissioner. That was some character growth there good job Disney 👍
> When Fisk came on the news and announced his mayoral bid, Matt DEFINITELY had a "shit here we go again" moment
> Heather Glenn !! God her actress is so pretty. Also Matt needs a therapist in his life lmao love how he almost fumbled her IMMEDIATELY too. THAT'S what I want to see - Matt fumbling pretty women because he's Matt Murdock
> BB URICH !!! I want her and Buck to Mystery Gang the shit out of Fisk. Like, how funny would it be if everyone in the MCU could actually beat Fisk and not Matt?? God this show is comedy
> MattFisk diner date was SOOO?? IDK the mattfiskers this is a Las Vegas prime rib and lobster buffet of content. We were like 2 breaths from getting Matt's face table smashed in again like in S2 of the NMCU. Fisk is convinced Matt's gonna be DD again (he's right) and Matt is convinced Fisk is playing everyone again (also right !!)
> I am looking forward to what they do with Muse. We've been teased now and he's honestly probably the ONLY reason I'm gonna keep watching. He has great villain arc potential.
> ngl I forgot most of the 2nd episode. I DO remember Matt sitting on the couch in a depressed slump drinking wine. Which is probably the best insight into what's actually going inside Matt's head and not the "I'm a suave lawyer guy! I don't need an SSRI, Heather! Leave me alone!" Or at least, that is what I am seeing
>The fight with the cops!! Matt totally killed that guy he smashed into the floor right? Like those noises sounded so lethal. If he didn't kill him, he got very close. Which....woof ok

> I'm interested to see if Hector is just gonna be court fodder or if they actually plan on doing something with his character outside of "C-list vigilante made a legal oopsy" because at this point....i don't have hope
> *Sighs deeply* from a whole marketing/business standpoint this show is making some very foolish choices lol if Foggy is actually dead than Disney is really setting themselves up to fail here by disenfranchising the original fans and making Foggy so irrelevant to newer fans they can't see/get invested into why Foggy is so important to Daredevil in the first place. I fear people tuning into the new show and then watching NMCU DD as a "prequel" will see Foggy as an obstacle and be happy that he is dead. HE HAS SO MUCH CROSSOVER POTENTIAL TOO like popping up in MCU shows all over the place to give legal advice and bantz to other heros. He could've been set up as the new Wong and instead we got *motions to it all* this

percival/peredur for the ask meme <3
Hi, Cain!!! Ooh, my beloved Peredur bach, yessssss!!!!!!
favorite thing about them
How sweet he is. I wouldn't necessarily call him naive when he first encounters Owain and Gwalchmai but I think u can kinda see him begin to realise that there's more to life than what his mam sort of thinks he needs to know. Plus he's not afraid to stand up for himself especially when Cai tries to be a twat. I think he's also very caring towards others and also him giving Cai a broken arm? Look, not to laugh at his pain but my god, Cai, u deserved it. Plus he's legit like unbelievable in fights. Crazy!!!! Snsjssjsj.
least favorite thing about them
Nothing. He's never done anything wrong in his life.
favorite line
Every time Peredur calls Cai 'tall man' I feel a little better about the state of the world. I don't think he ever refers to Cai by name and it's like, augh, even Peredur ap Efrawg isn't immune to being a hater sometimes.
brOTP
Him and Owain!!!! I bet they're besties and it's so important to me that Owain is one of the two knights Peredur encounters first. Like if it had been Cai I would've been majorly concerned but Owain is like super patient with him when he's like 'What are all these things?'
OTP
For me? Gwalchmai. I keep banging on but they F U C K E D in that tent. And also he's genuinely so concerned for Peredur it makes me unhinged.
nOTP
Peredur and rudeness. Peredur and people thinking he's dumb. Peredur and rudeness. I hate it when people are like he's a country bumpkin he's dumb, he's stupid. Nowhere does it say that in the text!!! 😠😠😠
random headcanon
He is powered by 90% spite, I firmly believe this. He can and will do anything he's set his mind to, and, by God, he'll do it while both dragging his heels and calling his foe any name under the sun. I am basing that on his interactions with Cai. He is also the sweetest guy alive and gives his besties little shiny gifts like he's a magpie. Plus, I believe he and his cousin Angharad meet up once a year to gossip.
unpopular opinion
For me, I think the story of Peredur came first and Chrietien based Perceval on that. Idk. To me, that just seems more plausible. It's a barebones kinda first draft thing and Chrietien fleshed it out and included The Grail.
song i associate with them (maybe) (depends on the character)
'Peredur' by Tom Emlyn! Plus, I also think 'Canyon Moon' by Harry Styles works for him. I think it's because of the refrain of 'I'm going home.' Like he's going on adventures but ultimately when he returns home to Arthur's court it's like 'Oh, I've sort of found my place.'
favorite picture of them
Right, it's not of them specifically but it's of scene from the myth purely because IT'S A FUCKIN TAPESTRY!!!! SOMEBODY MADE THIS!!!!! EVERYBODY SAY THANK U, MARTIN WEATHERHEAD. It's GORGEOUS. IT MUST'VE TAKEN HOURS!!!!!!! SNSJSJSSJSJS.

[The text says: 'Peredur a welodd yan oedd dafad wen yn brefu: croesai dafad ddu yr afon gan newid i fod yn wyn' in Welsh, and, in English, 'Peredur saw that when a white sheep bleated a black sheep crossed the river and became white.']

I FINISHRD ONE OF US IS NEXT
If I'm being honest
I kind of liked the POVs better in this book over the first one
So glad Maeve is okay tho
I was getting SO worri3s the leukemia was back
Also TOTALLY clocked Emma being involved with the truth or dare game
Like.... 50 pages before the reveal
But u digress
Also had people staring at me today when I was freaking out about all of the information being revealed 😅
Ummm..... they already know I'm nerdy idk what they expected from me tbh
Also got SO freaked out when the bomb exploded
I swear I was gonna freak if Nate died after all that character development
Not on my watch
Also how come you decided to dnf the series
And when I finish the last book would you like me to summarize it so you can understand what happened in the end
hello . . . sorry for being late and i'm answering all these together. okay interesting that you liked the povs of oouin over oouil . . . i feel like the oouin characters are more palatable since half the oouin characters are cheating and such. personally i thought they were about the same
yeah! maeve being okay is good. wow that's super smart i did not clock emma . . . i am bad at clocking mystery books in general i think that's why i get a thrill out of them lmfao i can never clock the twist even though i know there is one
freaking out and people around you being like . . . you good, bro . . . is so lmfaoooo. personally i used to read a lot at school during like silent reading and stuff so i learned to control my reactions but it's like . . . yeah . . . what did you expect out of nerd like me anyway. huh
i did not care when the bomb exploded cuz i knew nate had main character plot armor. there's no way bro's gonna die after his whole "me and bronwyn are endgame" speech lmfao. so i was not worried and also i don't really like nate lmfaoooo . . . his thoughts about bronwyn are way too explicit and like. weirdly sexual for me. imo. entirely my opinion but i was like bro please knock it off . . . idk his whole playboy vibe continues into oouin and it does not sit well with me. for me personally entirely my opinion
okay the reason i dnf'd the series is actually because of jake. this is gonna sound real dumb but when jake came back i was like. you know what i am not in a mental place to watch the public fawn over jake and let him off the hook (i know this is the point of the story but i did not want to read it lmfaoooo). i would've pushed through if i liked the series more (a very similar thing happens in agggtm and i continued reading that because i loved the series) but with the way i just. did not care about most of the main characters and my hatred for nate and knox i was like. you know what maybe this is a bad idea lmfaoooo
okay i don't like knox because bro acts like such an incel he is always whining about how he doesn't get girls and it's like. shut up shut up shut up shut upppp idk i just found it annoying. but that's just me
if you're still willing to do it i would love a recap i know you finished because i stalled too long (sorry . . . i wanted to properly explain my thoughts on nate and knox . . . ) but i do wanna know what happens and what the twists are because i definitely think this author has a gift when it comes to writing plot twists and such. but i don't wanna deal with jake my mental health cannot take him being let out of prison when he's so obviously guilty right now lmfao it hits too close to many current events
glad you have unhealthy attachments to the characters you should tell me about them. for. science
#I'M SO SORRY FOR BEING LIKE A MONTH LATE ALAYDA. as an apology i will read the illuminae files over spring break (a couple weeks for me)#i've been wanting to get to it anyway so. yeah#oouil#anti nate macauley#anti knox myers#asks#alaydabug2

I haven't had time to get to your ask, but, I'm sending some in return
Rei, 9, 13, 14, 20 and 23 if it pleases thee
( character ask )
Oh. Oh no. Some of these are. Certainly questions.
Rei.
// 9. Scene that first made me love (or hate) the character
So I definitely remember being intrigued by him as of the Detectives' Nocturne case (which is his second appearance, outside of Scar!Akai), and also being curious about him in the case where Takagi is kidnapped, since we're shown that text from Date at the end. But love is a little more complicated.
I think it must have been the Mystery Train case. The Bourbon reveal. The fact that he asked afterward to keep investigating Akai's death.
And then the tennis case right after, with Conan. Loved him there, too.
// 13. Dumbest thing they've ever done.
Dressing up as Akai and showing that face to the snipers comes to mind. That was pretty dumb. Closely followed by "let's have a fistfight on a ferris wheel." He's never living that one down. Neither is Akai for allowing it tbh.
// 14. Most heroic moment.
Hm. That's a little more complicated because while he's one of the good guys, he's not necessarily someone I'd label as "heroic." His mission is the (second) most important thing to him. (First is getting revenge on Akai for Hiro.)
My immediate thought was saving Conan and the DBs in the Cold Delivery Truck case, but then I remembered WPS exists. I'm not sure how to pick from the boys' escapades in that one. On the one hand, you have "Onizuka definitely would've died if not for the boys" but then you also have the convenience store robbery, where probably many people would've been murdered. And then there's the truck-flipping incident and the thing with Hiro's parents' murderer...
IDK, pick one of those.
// 20. Scars.
He maybe has a few from childhood, because I imagine he and Hiro were very active little boys who got into more than a few scrapes. But more recently, he definitely picked up one or two from that helicopter crash in M25. Probably a small one hidden just below his hairline, and another one on his right arm, from where it got sliced. He also shot his way through a window in M22 and didn't get out of that without bleeding, too, so maybe one on his other arm as well.
From explicitly canon sources... nothing I can think of.
// 23. If they were a scented candle, what would they smell like?
So the thing is. I just don't really do scented candles because they give me migraines. So I'm going to have to find a list of different candle scents. I'm thinking either something citrus-y or maybe earthy + cinnamon?? I don't know. Something fairly neutral but with just a little bit of a kick to it.
But I'm definitely the wrong person to ask. Maybe something with bergamot? But, again, wrong person to ask here. And I'm not even sure I remember what bergamot smells like. It just popped into my head.

Sabretooth War part 8 time
and again, doing it from tower so we can have panels, so that also means a cut to save dash space
bwahahaha idk but that over the top warning box just had me burst out laughing. i sure hope some karen complained that this storyline was too over the top pointlessly graphic (ok i din't really, because again i do enjoy bloody fights, but this is all just edgelordy nonsense for the sake of being unpleasant)
anywhos, onto our story in progress proper
i already mentioned the preview pages, and commented that i liked the parallels in the storytelling, and the Holly Bright/Bonnie Hale things. but the fact that Victor's admitting that he's a victim...has that ever happened before?
aw crap, Savage is dead-dead. i was hoping maybe she wasn't, like how Capt wasn't for an issue, since she wasn't decapitated. but nope, we can't have fun here.
Laura tauntsGraydona nd jumps out a window. he says screw it all.
Logan's getting patched up by Oya and monologing internally about how it;s so great to have no powers and could die at any moment...didn't we do this song and dance years ago before you died dude? also, you're not gonna be able to move very easily with that super heavy metal skeleton that your body won't compensate for properly without your healing factor. you know the adamantium poisoning is gonna get you. we've done this before; stop being so blasé about it.
Nekra thinks Logan's plans are dumb. Mr OC tries a psychic tap and freaks out because Graydon is so much worse than Victor? uh...wut. wiener boi, even in new shiny tinfoil mode, is not as large scale of a threat as you're making him seem. i'm sorry, but no. you cannot excuse taking the spotlight off of a main character because the wieners secondary (tertiary even) character is now the big bad and final threat. i'm just...uhg. Graydon is a wiener, and he has his purposes, but this isn't one of them. "extra dimensional tech will make this easy' yeah, uhhu, sure. you know what would've made this make sense; us seeing HOW we got this cool maybe. because you give the wiener a shiny gun doesn't mean we will immediately think he's cool and capable; it just makes him look like a wiener with a gun and make we should duck because he's probably doing to accidentally shoot himself with it.
and how do you know about that! you weren't part of the Pit Gang conversations. bad writing!!
so Logan takes the Pit Gang (trio really at this point) to his apocalypse bunker. and they fight bears. this is padding.
no it wasn't, stop lying Logan
cut to teh Greenhouse...
THE BOI IS BACK!!!!! where was he? what's he been doing? IDK AND IDC!! he's not dead, he's still here, he's in a panel. i'm not even paying attention to the rest of the page, what's going on...
Black Tom is making them a vegetable plane to go help Laura cause the them got her help texts. mk. and Cuckoo is getting a text from Quint-head that Vic is breaking out of the Audrey Two
and cut back to Logan and friends, and he's in adamantium armor with a Muramasa blade. yeah...lame. if this was to sell action figures maybe, but we don't do that anymore these days. so this is just uhg. also, didn't Laura have one of these getups? are we now repeating the OTHER Wolverine because we don't have enough new ideas???
whelp, this one wasn't so bad (why'd it warrant such a comedic warning idk lol). we progressed a bit, we got some flashbacks, we got a lot of dumb padding/stretching. but Arkady is confirmed still here, and in part 8, so i'll take it. (still not convinced my conspiracy theory that he was originally supposed to be dead in part 1 and it was changed last second isn't true...he has no lines in these 2 pages and could've been added in after the fact...he still isn't in the opening lineups yet Aurora and Northstar are and they haven't appeared in a couple issues)

Thoughts from watching the ATLA live action!
I initially wanted this to all be one post but. It got too long and also Tumblr accidentally posted it once instead of just drafting as I asked while I was writing it and I had to reconstruct the whole thing so I'm just going to make one post per episode I think.
So, episode 1!
Oh my god the show really opens on just showing the letters "Capital City", genuinely that's kind of hilarious?? I kinda always thought of it as Caldera City collectively because Capital City sounds dumb (very The Hunger Games of them, ngl) but like... I do recognize that it's only technically the rich district- even so I feel like maybe they should've reimagined that one in particular because honestly it's always been confusing for the capital to have two cities in it (Harbor City is the other one, basically the poor people district). Anyway not a big deal overall, just... Kind of funny to not change this
Truly a weird way to start the show with just some random Earth Kingdom revolutionaries, but based on the fact that I've heard they're not in it I'm just headcanoning it to be Haru and Tyro lmao otherwise it's just. A truly bizarre choice
Oh never mind they're??? Opening before the war??? They literally have Ozai in the first season, why wouldn't they just have a menacing Sozin in a war room, with like maybe some very subtle hints to him grieving someone who died disagreeing with him, and him going forward with it anyway? Idk it's genuinely very strange to open a show with such iconic and recognizable characters by focusing on some random mostly irrelevant people you're never gonna see again because the story takes place a hunder years in the future. I mean, it was a cool fight scene (when I could see it lmao, I wish it wasn't so dark- would've looked great in a cinema but this should have been made for people watching on home screens) but?? Why should I care about these people or what they're doing, either as a veteran who knows they don't matter or as someone new to the story who DOESN'T know that they're never going to see them again?
Oh shit wait, AGAIN??? They keep zagging on me lmao this is like. Exactly what I wanted!! I read they started things off with a lot of fighting and showing the war so I thoght this was what it was but no!! The random guy meets non other than Sozin... Who genuinely looks incredible and does a fantastic job at portraying exactly what I wanted!! I think there's something in the eyes specifically? Like, there's a certain sadness mixed with idealism there, which works really well with how determined, calculating and cold he otherwise is. He feels 100% like the sort of guy who'd reasonably be the ancestor to the mess that is the Royal Family we see during the rest of the show, and I'm genuinely really happy about it! Sozin feels like the sort of madman who believes in his own just and it's perfect, like, the exact vibe I got from him in the original!
Is Gyatso talking to Bryke rn or...?? Lmao fr Aang never learned any of the things he mentions which is why he was a bad Avatar, and why in the end I don't like canon OG Aang. Addressing it in the first episode is extremely bold of the LA tbh, but you know I love to see it! Also everyone was talking about how Aang wasn't silly enough, but literally in the OG he was too silly and never learned to take responsibility or work with others so?? This Aang that is already blending a whimsical air with what seems like a degree of emotional intelligence the original lacked is!! Such an improvement in my eyes, actually! I'm hoping they manage to properly resolve these things this time around, but already their direction with him just within minutes of meeting him feels a lot more palatable to me. Also they rewrote that scene in a way that makes Gyatso infinitely more likeable because now he actually GETS it, OG Gyatso was a kind man but in the end... He was wrong, he coddled Aang too much. Here, in a universe where the Air nomads want to help defend the rest of the world, he recognizes that while Aang is needed, he genuinely isn't capable of helping yet which!! Also feels like an improvement in terms of co-nation relations, it feels like there actually used to be a harmony of sorts before! It will help make the Air Nomads feel less out of place and "out of sight out of mind" in the bad way they were in the original. The Air Nomads already planning to get involved also feels like a way to rid Aang of his idealistic and childhish views of his own culture in a much more direct way than the more subtle approach just showing Gyatso surrounded by skeletons of people he likely killed. Also, again, saw people complain aboit the Air Nomads wanting to get involved being ooc and?? Okay, so? Have you maybe considered that them being so insular that their loss was barely felt in the original whenever they didn't need to make Aang have an emotional moment was a bad thing??? Like, I get that it isn't in line with their characterization, but personally? Them choosing not to get involved in an attempted genocide was always a bad look tbh, and as far as I'm concerned, this is a fix and a way to make them look much better than just like. Hermits unconcerned with the world- they care, they want to help! Honestly overall everyone in the Air Nomads looks so much better here, this feels like a net good in terms of like... Idk Air Nomad publicity lmao. Also, showing the different temples coming together to celebrate is!! Incredible, I wholeheartedly love that addition to the lore!
Ngl tbh so far this feels like a fanfic I'd read, in like. Literally the best possible way
Yo the "Gyatso and Roku were friends" theory looking realll possible rn with that "you will always be my friend" line 👀
Ah so I see what people meant about Aang's characterization in this episode being a bit tell-y rather than show-y, that's fair. That said, it was a really nice scene that established the bond between him and Appa quite well imo! Also now I'm genuinely curious as to whether they'll have him get a bit drunk with power like in the original considering the focus they're putting on how much he needs to NOT do that!
To everyone saying Aang running away was important and should not have been cut- no, it fucking wasn't, it was one of his biggest unresolved character flaws that got ignored when the destroyed his character arc in season 3 and I'm fucking glad it's gone. I do find it interesting that here Aang basically only just finds out about being the Avatar before getting frozen rather than having a bit more time to get used to the idea and see how it changes things for him- it makes it that in a way, this Aang has both a lot more and a lot less baggage! Essentially his entire journey of discovery of what it means to be pronounced the Avatar will happen alongside people who never knew him as anything but, it's an extremely finite and dramatic closing of the chapter of his life where he wasn't the Avatar- it kinda shows he has no room for confusion anymore, he must now become The Avatar because that's essentially his people's last request of him. It's a very different sort of vibe from "I wasn't willing", it's "I wasn't ready", and that is much more easily fixable in a shorter show! Also the og literally just "solved" the willingness issue by having him enjoy the benefits and refuse to do any of the work so. Not sad to see it go at all
Battlefield Sozin?! Firebending rockets?! Wilhelm scream?! Cool battle scene all around tbh, really heartbreakin and difficult to watch, which means they did a good job with it! I do still wish it was brighter though lmao
Uhh forgot to type anything for a while because I was crying but. Yeah I generally really liked the portrayal of life on Wolf Cove! There are definitely some very noticeable changes with our two leads here, and I actually don't think they're necessarily bad, they just feel very strange and might take a bit to get used to. Katara actually isn't passive, which is weird considering that's how a lot of people described her? She's just extremely cautious. All of her defining traits feel like they're still there, but some of them do feel like they're lying a bit under the surface due to her situation which! Makes sense as an alternative way of writing her! Sokka genuinely feels like such a big brother here, I like the emphasis on his sense of responsibility and how he doesn't quite know how to be a real leader yet- it goes very well with a Katara who desperately wants to be a fighter but can't and has to try and blend in. Both of them have very clear aspirations and the traits that will eventually allow them to get to where they want to be, but they're very far from reaching them at the start. A lot of the scenes do feels kinda awkward tbh, but idk, I think they do a fine enough job at what they attempt to.
Now, hearing that Katara wasn't the one to break Aang out in a fit of anger wasn't a deal breaker for me actually, but? Honestly the way he gets out is just needlessly confusing here, genuinely unclear if Katara did it or he just... Idk somehow reacted to another bender's presence or whatever. Idk, it felt extremely weird and I think just like? A bit of clarification here as to what happened could've saved this scene without it having to happen via anger if that's the way they wanna go with Katara, and specifically her relationship with Sokka (which, again, does really feel authentic and well done here imo!)
Aang saying that Katara is the only one who tried to fight for him is fucking wild, but I guess that's the impression he got given that Gyatso told him he had to go away and he didn't hear the meeting about him here. Still a wild thing for him to say, felt really weird right alongside Sokka being the bravest person he ever met. Idk that whole exchange was off and awkward and just... Strange
Iroh doing his best to help and teach Aang when he can is very sweet. Idk how to feel about how hard he's already going in on the whole "your daddy doesn't love you" thing with Zuko tbh, because it does make Zuko appear much less lost when he's got someone who's giving him the answers rather than leading him to them, it's kinda a book 2 vibe from them? It's strange. Also a straight talking Iroh feels so strange in general, literally his only "eccentric" quality so far is loving Jasmine tea and very clearly not being down with the war, it's... Certainly A Choice, but not one I'm really enjoying so far tbh
There's something really interesting about Katara immediately relaxing and allowing herself to be silly and mischievous around Sokka here, it's kind of a flip from their dynamic in the original but there's something really fun and sweet about seeing those hidden aspects of her come out around the one person she knows and trusts to accept and protect her just as fiercely as she would him. It's definitely different, but I'm genuinely really enjoying the unique spin they put on their relationship and how it correlates with their own individual personalities and how they perceive and present themselves.
Taking the burden of always being the only one who can bring Aang out of the Avatar State away from Katara feels like a big relief. Also in general I like the way they still kept Aang's attachment to Gyatso and his parallels with Katara, while also solidifying Sokka and Aang friendship which wasn't really... A thing in the original? Having Sokka protect and reach out to Aang feels much more personal here in a way than it did originally, I think maybe the weird scene where Aang praises them kinda worked to serve that? Idk I've read people saying they don't feel like a family but more like friends here but. They never did in the original in season 1 either tbh. If anything there's a sense of everyone being equal here which the original lacked in places, I like how both Sokka and Katara support and save Aang in equal measure here and how they look out for each other as well. Aang is kinda naturally a mess this whole episode but here's hoping he returns the favor for them for once in the future!
Edit: dammit Tumblr literally just did it again I didn't mean to post this yet, but I'm kind of at the end of the episode so fuck it, it stays I don't wanna reconstruct it in the drafts again. If I have anything to add it'll go after this.

In my understanding this tiktok video (https ://vt.tiktok.com/ZSLt7AAgE/) literally is how will grayson treat other women that's not emory scott, including his initial stages of escort-fuck buddy-friendship thing with alex, and his character as a man and his relationship turns me off so bad, that i rooted less for him each time he appeared on page as i lose my respect towards how he treats women in general. Like we knew Michael and Damon were shit, but they both ADMITTED to it, but Will was always labelled as "amazing" and all good things, but his character was like THAT? Nah. The same goes with alex when she used others to hurt aydin, idk i find men, women, MCs & FMCs like them so icky, so i especially hate reading about fictional characters with these traits. What i hate about alex was that she could've been like emmy where she would've beenjust jealous n her head, and not humiliate or touch her physically to put her down, but alex literally just proves the stereotype of fighting over a dumb guy with an innocent woman. I disliked that banks and rika fight in hideaway for the same reason too. I can understand where they came from, but i fucking hated it. I hate it even more when other female reader cheered them on for it. I hated the will/damon/aydin jealousy scenes with a passion too. In fact, I would usually avoid these scenes in romance books if i can, because authors spent so much time wasting their talents on scenes of characters being jealous for other LIs, than building ACTUAL happiness & chemistry between them. I couldn't avoid this trope for this book especially, because i was never warned that the trope "other men/women drama" with a touch of "treating non-Love Interest like shit" trope were so fucking bad in Nightfall, it just ruins everything about Will for me.
Personally though, i'm not a big fan of both alex and will, and even though i know you're not very fond of alex too, i think based on one of your older asks about willalex's relationship, you described your understanding of alex's place in will's life differently than i would have. I don't have any problems with differing opinions though. I feel like you saw and put a lot more importance of alex's presence in will's life more than i did, or even will did. It's interesting how we interpret characters, because while i can agree with some of your interpretations of them, i have a very opposite opinion with the others. I also always thought it was kinda sad that for someone who was "close" to will, alex was the one who always "seems" to care more about will, than the other way around. But it's not like her care matters so much, because it still doesn't change will for the better, he only just got less lonely, but was still very self-destructive. For me, even though i knew that alex was a friend and family to will, and is automatically important to him for that, i never saw any hint that she was THAT important to Will personally, even off-page, like how you described in that willalex friendship post. Idk, maybe it's just me.
Because just like damon who had an exception towards winter, will too had an exception towards emmy, where he used everything he can as long as they're not emmy. So his relationship with alex too wasnt always sincere or deep, they only bonded through shallow things which then after one or two years of casual friendship, made them mirrors of each other's pain (or so they thought, they're shallow people, i can't always take their observations seriously), so i cant see why people fawn or get mad over their relationship too much. The fact that will couldn't get any friends outside of the horsemen if they're not their friends' girls, escorts, people he can pay with money, or people of similar status with him, even with all his status and privilege, already tells a lot about his classist and shallow personility. I kinda understand though being friends with people of the same class, since it's easier to get along with people who gets you immidiately without feeling like you're being judge for it, but still. The more that i think about this side of him too, the lesser i like him.
Idk, and that's the thing, when i read nightfall, i couldn't enjoy willemmy's story, because willemmy was busy destroying themselves and each other, then continue to go back to being jealous of the other, while always letting others intervene their relationship. Even when they had time alone, they always had to involve some third parties in their relationship, which pisses me off so much. It's one thing when people kept on meddling in their relationship, but it's another thing for them to drag others in it, just because they were immature, couldnt handle their feelings like mature adults. Their problems had existed way before alex and aydin got between them. We get the gist already if emory was a stronger woman, so i'm not gonna talk about her, but will. Ah, will, that useless fuck of a character, a character who no one calls him out for his shit. Now, If Will Grayson was a stronger man, Alex Palmer will never be able to slap Emory Scott. The only reason why his friends can treat emmy like shit was because Will lead them by example, just like how the horsemen initially didnt respect rik because michael humiliate him by example. Weak men are truly a fucking disease. Will humiliated and set a standard to how emmy deserves to be treated first, in front of stranger, classmates, and friends, i can't always blame others to not intervene or when emmy had to fight alone, because will grayson, when it matters, never really stood up for emmy. Even in high school he only did when it was for petty shit. The same thing happened when he humiliated her in front of everyone in the train, and letting emmy being insulted again by alex before that orgy. Idk, it's such a cruel thing, he was just as mean as emmy, but it was always overlooked by others. Will grayson is such a turn off for me fr, i can never see myself being attracted to a man or a book boyfriend like him tbh. Damon would never let anyone treats Winter like that, not even her own sister, even though HE was worse for her at first, and this comes from a damon hater alright. Nightfall made me so disappointed of will, i almost skipped nightfall's epilogue and his pov in firenight, if not for emmy's crumbs. All of that drama and pain because he was a pussy.
I hink i really agree with one of your older damon slander asks that said something about hating to read about whiny incompetent male characters, and it's probably not just because of my moral or personality, but also because we had enough of these men in reality! I dont want to escape reality only to find men like the horsemen in stories i read. Will grayson could've been like christian from the made series, but no, he was the walmart version of him.
Idk idc, will grayson didnt do it for me. Anyway, if you want a morally better and ACTUAL loyal pining of ACTUAL mean girl x sunshine amazing characters, i recommend you and your followers The Losers series by Harley Laroux. It's devil's night, but fucking amazing. It's reverse harem though, so if you're not into it then maybe you can just skip it. The main character jessica, was everything that pd wished rika or alex were and would be. Literally. Jessica was THE it girl, and she embraced it. This series was about going over the edge too, and be true to yourself, and just exploring topics of kinks, shame, vulnerability, love, friendships, identity, career, desire, etc. and everything amazing i could think of. Thats all.
I tried to find the tiktok but the link didn’t go anywhere/said the video was unavailable. If you manage to find it again, or one similar, feel free to send it through.
I mean, it’s easy to sit here and say I wish the series had been done differently. There’s plenty I would change in the development of the characters, but there’s only so much I can do before I overhaul everything and start with something new. In that case, wouldn’t I just be using PDs framework/bones to build my own story? But then, aren’t a lot of the series/books in this genre (especially on KU) just made from the same bones? Built on the same or very similar idea? It’s true that there’s nothing new under the sun, but where does inspiration end and stealing begin?
This is all just to say I understand where you’re coming from.
Taking Will out of the super special box I’ve placed him in, examining him without rose-colored glasses, Will’s nothing. Less than nothing, really. He’s not good, he’s not kind, he’s not all that funny. Adding to that, all of these characters, with a few exceptions, are underdeveloped and inconsistent. I wanted more from the mysteries that PD posed, and I wanted more from the “bad guys for a good reason” vibe. What we got was a bunch of immature and messy characters acting like they knew what they were doing, but in reality really proved that privilege can give you a lot of blind spots. DN could have been done better. I’ve never denied that.
If you hate when authors use jealousy as motivation this much, then I can see why you were frustrated reading the series. For a group of people who were about freely experiencing the world with no limitations, and openly shared their S.O.s with their friends occasionally, they sure were jealous a lot. But you know… people get jealous. People also react out of anger and do stupid stuff for reasons that I can’t understand. So I won’t say that Alex should have been like Emmy because Emmy’s reaction was one that I could understand and relate to. Because there are real people who have reacted like Alex. What I didn’t like is that PD framed it as though Emmy was wrong and Alex was right. The reality is that neither of them should have been framed as the superior one. Emmy wasn’t perfect, I just understood her better.
I can see why Will was ruined for you. Like I’ve said before, by the end of NF I was ready to scrap the whole series, save for the past scenes where I agree with the portrayal of his character, and wipe my hands clean.
I feel like you saw and put a lot more importance of alex's presence in will's life more than i did, or even will did.
Honestly, I never saw Alex as important until Nightfall tried to convince us she was. But since that’s the narrative it served us, I tried to examine from that perspective. Why is Alex here? Why is she even relevant? The easy answer is that PD pushed that narrative. But removing that, just analyzing what the story is, and what are we left with? Making it make sense is what I'm trying to do.
I also always thought it was kinda sad that for someone who was "close" to will, alex was the one who always "seems" to care more about will, than the other way around. But it's not like her care matters so much, because it still doesn't change will for the better, he only just got less lonely, but was still very self-destructive.
What I thought was fascinating about this point is that you’re right, but also…
As noted at the end of KS, Will only started improving when Damon returned and his friends started helping him get off drugs. They got him clean, but not sober. I think that’s what finally motivated him to go to BC, because he started realizing he had nothing to offer his friends anymore. On top of that, was he going to rely on them to keep him clean? He couldn’t. He needed to learn to do that on his own. First real grown-up decision he made. Of course, he then became the worst version of himself, too scared to return to a place that offered all his vices so freely because he couldn't trust himself, and too stunted to try. He did the physical work, but none of the emotional or mental work. Alex never helped him with any of that.
She comforted him. She made him think everything he was doing was okay. Maybe she tried to encourage him, but I don’t think she ever pushed him to be better like Emmy would have. Emmy would have demanded better (at least the Emmy that lives in my head, but I think the book version is at least closer to that then Alex ever was). I truly think if Emmy had returned to Thunder Bay by the time Will was released from prison, he would either have never gotten that bad or she would and forced him to get better earlier.
But Emmy wasn’t there. Alex was, and who know why Alex did anything. Was it her character? Was it her flaws? Did she not know what to do for him because she’s literally 19 and life suddenly hands her a client who’s been to prison and has trauma surrounding that, and is angry, and is numbing his pain with vices, but that she can occasionally see a glimmer of something more in? I don’t know. Maybe it was just excellent sex, and even she says that’s what she’s usually thinking about. She says he puts in the work. Either way, because of the way this story was told, it’s up to the reader to make up their own mind. No one is more correct than anyone else, least of all me. I read way too much into this anyway. It’s really not that deep.
The fact that will couldn't get any friends outside of the horsemen if they're not their friends' girls, escorts, people he can pay with money, or people of similar status with him, even with all his status and privilege, already tells a lot about his classist and shallow personility. I kinda understand though being friends with people of the same class
I mean… I’m not sure about this opinion. We see these guys host parties in nearly every book. It’s safe to say they have friends outside each other. And if you want to say all those friendships are shallow because they’re built on who has money and what people can offer each other, that’s fine. I won’t argue that point, though I’d disagree with it. But it’s obvious that these relationships are the most important to them, and since we only see a very narrow time frame of the series, we don’t get a lot of development of outside plot.
Even when they had time alone, they always had to involve some third parties in their relationship, which pisses me off so much.
This is partly why I say I would have preferred if NF had taken place in Thunder Bay like the others or was not the end of the series. The force proximity and limited cast really make it difficult to determine what is Will and Emmy, and what is the situation forcing them to act this way. Not giving either an escape route to see what decisions they’d make without the pressure is frustrating. There is a way to keep this plot and make the series work.
Now, If Will Grayson was a stronger man, Alex Palmer will never be able to slap Emory Scott. The only reason why his friends can treat emmy like shit was because Will lead them by example, just like how the horsemen initially didnt respect rik because michael humiliate him by example.
This is a fair point. I’ve been thinking a lot about friend group dynamics, especially in fours (gee, wonder why), and I realized something that frustrates me about the way the horsemen are set up. I’m gonna segue into something else, so if you want to skip the next few paragraphs, that’s fine.
Michael is set up as the leader, Kai the brains, Damon the passion, and Will the heart. In recent posts, I’ve called Michael the brain, and Kai the heart. Because that’s what makes sense to me in terms of the roles they feel. A leader needs to lead with something, right. It can be courage, it can be heart, it can be logic, but it needs to be something. Just calling Michael a leader because he makes the call doesn’t mean anything. What is he leading with.
But Michael is framed as logical and decisive, so I place him as the brain. Kai is supposed to be compassionate and wise, the voice of reason in the group, which PD calls the brains, but I call the heart. Damon can remain the passion. But that leaves Will with nothing.
Will, in my head, is supposed to be the glue that holds them together. He’s supposed to be the one they go to when they need encouragement, to see things from a better perspective. The one that fixes them, not the other way around.
If that’s the case, he totally fails in his role. He’s so weakened by his various traumas and heartbreak, he can’t fulfill that role. And that’s irritating because it takes the entire series for him to come out of that and then it ends. We never actually get to see Will as he was supposed to be. That’s what pisses me off. So, you’re right. He’s useless.
Back to your point, I think also would have preferred to see a stronger Will. A character who is so happy all the time, the glue that holds the team together, the one they go to when they need to be built back up, and all of a sudden the only thing that makes him so angry he goes over the edge appears in front of him again? To the point he becomes unhinged and starts wilding out? That could have been interesting.
And it’s interesting because we do see a bit of what you were talking about with Will setting the standard when Damon was trashing her at the cove, before they went to beat martin. He straight forwardly, in all seriousness, tells Damon to stop. Will can feel that way about her, but no one else. Somewhere along the way, Will lost that thought. Where’d it go? I don’t know.
Anyway. What can you do?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I hope I understood what you were saying and responded fairly. I know I come off as totally pro-Will Grayson, Will Grayson can do no wrong, but that's not the case. I do see the characters clearly (for the most part). Not only that, but I want them to be better. So I make it so.
