At first i was going to reblog this from @justashadowlooker

but then it got too long and off-topic, i started retelling and quoting my own 10 years old fanfic, so i'm making it it's own post jjdsfjkdfgh

Too long don't read, was a Bloom fan, killed her hundreds of times, than became Icy fan, killed her few times as well, still a huge fan, wanna revive some of my old ideas

When i had just started watching winx, Bloom was my fav AAHAHHAH (it was 2008-2009 year i think). Buuut... being my fav means that you gonna SUFFER. It was always the case, even when i was little. But young me didn't know better than to just kill of a character. And Bloom died SO many times in my early fanfics and arts. I still remember one fic, it was also the first ever fic i posted on the internet, and it was horrible. I typed really slow at that time and i was looking at like 10 A4 pages of handwritten fanfic and was like... weeeell i don't need this part with description of the boat... i don't need this part about wind flowing in her hair or smth... i don't need spaces after dots and commas either. These were real thoughts of 9 year old me lmao.

the fic was about Bloom and Sky going for a boat trip date, but there was also some bitch that fell for Sky and her best decision was to throw Bloom away from the boat. As a result she was sucked into the screw of the motor or whatever this thing called. Sky dived after her and brought her back on the boat, but she died due to the blood loss.

In my handwritten version it was really long and tears queezing scene, but i was too lazy to type it all, so it basically was shortened to 1 (one) sentence: Bloom didn't make it to the port.

i also had a picture attached, it was i think a cover of some of the comics where Sky holds Bloom on his arms and they're stepping out of the water, but i photishoped it and added many wounds and BLOOD BLOOD EVERYWHERE!!!

I also remember photoshopping screenshots from the first winx movie, adding bloody wounds on Bloom and tears and trying to make her face sad lol. And also i remember, i didn't have access to the computer all the time in my childhood, and there was a weird time... when i'd got a chance to be on the computer, i would made a specific search in google, to find that one art with Bloom, being fucking stabbed, lying on the ground and crying, and touching the golden heart-shaped locket with the name Sky on it, and you could see that it was Sky's sword that stabbed her, and he was walking away in the distance. I could stare at that art for hours, imagining how it happened. I also remeber how the art suddenly stopped showing up at the search and i had only tiny squeezed jpg version of it, and i thought that google banned this art for being so violent lmao

Btw i found that art, it's by Chibiusa-Moon, here it is, and i remember it diffferently, i thought Bloom had enchantix on her lmao

BUT THEN SOMETHING CHANGED. I DON'T KNOW WHEN. I DON'T KNOW WHY. BUT ICY CAME AND DESTROYED MY LOVE FOR BLOOM, AND TOOK HER PLACE.

I suspect that it happened after i saw ep1 of season 3, because HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WOMAN IN THAT EPISODE?! SHE WAS ✨✨S L A Y I G✨✨ DAMN!!! She freed herself looking fab as fuck (i've only seen her battle uniform at that point, and her casual outfit shocked me, i was like HOLY SHIT?? DIFFERENT COLTHES?) (and it's if you forgen the HOLY SHIT, TRIX IN THE FIRST EPISODE OF THE SEASON?!!!), sayed the edgiest thing in the world, then freed her sisters, skated away from the giant snake ON HER DAMN HEELS AS A QUEEN!!!!! I think this was the moment when i fell for her. Maybe i'm wrong and it happened earlier, but this is all i can remeber.

Well, i also remember when my mom got me my first winx magazine and i was really disappointed that there were no Trix in the comic AHHASJGDAJS it was comic about bloom and diaspro going to the land of the dragons.

And, funny enough, i think i didn't kill Icy in my fics (mostly)

oh shit i also remembered some stuff. In my later fanfics i was tending to make Bloom real psychopath, who decided to straight up destroy all the witches and all the dark magic. Hey. Hey. I bet 13 year old me wouldn't mind if i borrowed this idea fom her...

EHM ANYWAY, BACK TO THAT ONE FINISHED FIC!

It's so cringy written, but it's got the spirit HASHDHA. The trix summon some another army of darkness that was created to destroy fairies (hey), but at some point they lose control of it and the army turns against them. They have no ther choice but to seek help from the winx. winx of course don't want to help since their army attacked alfea... but the trix didn't give this order.

by the way tehre's one dialogue that i think is actually good and i think is in character

"But how do we know that it isn't one of your tricks?" - asked Tecna. - "Probability of this equals 85,9%!" Everyone froze. Nobody had this idea before. Then Icy shook her head. "No, it's not." "How do we know?" Stella said suspiciously. "If we wanted to trick you, we'd choose less humiliating way" Icy replied coldly.

in the end witches and fairies teeaming up, and going on an adventure to stop this army with some artifacts. Significant part of the way they had to make on their own without magic, and during that winx and trix are actualy growing to like each other. OH THERES ALSO A FUNNY THING LOL

But as a night roommate she [Icy] turned out to be very restless. She was moving all the time and mumbling something. And then at some point she screamed: "Damn fairies, i wish you all dead!" Bloom jumped on her place and still half sleeping replied: "Shut up, witch, or you're done for!" and fell back asleep. All in all, it was hell of a night.

i still think this is funny af-- damn these dialogues are only getting better. Next day they getting closer to their destination.

Suddenly they heard Stormy's voice: "Wait! there's some sign! Icy, can you read this?" "Why her?" Stella asked offended. "We all here can read!" "Except for you," Darcy noted gloomily and everyone laughed. "Ha, well, if you're so smart, come here and read!" Icy said with the sweetest voice. "And next time we'll ask you." Stella understood that she was cornered. To save the rest of her dignity, she came closer and started staring at the sign. "I-I cant for some reason, this handwriting is awful!" with dispair sloar fairy realised that she doesn't understand these letters. "And this cold is driving me nuts! Give me cup of hot coffee and warm blanket!"

then Icy teaches Bloom how to skate. And then Aisha (Leyla) dies by falling into some bottomless pit- After that they make it to their destination, but the army was waiting for them there

"Let's go!" Icy said decisively. "No, wait! I'll go alone. If they catch me, you all get out of here as fast as you can" [...] "No!" Bloom said. "I'll go with you!" "Fine. But they'll kill you immediately" "And you?" "And I will be tortured" Icy smiled.

I can't with this lol, Icy smiling at the thought of torture as a true psycho she is.

Icy touched the wall, making sure it's quite hard. "Well? What's next?" "You're the brain of the operation, you tell me!" redhead replied, crushing piece of the rock in her hand

i just like this interaction here.

"Winx Believix!" Winx screamed. And Trix didn't scream anything, Icy just snapped her fingers and all three were already in their witch uniforms.

the fight begins, Icy is trying to understand what to do with the artifacts, Musa dies, then they teleport to some other planet where they can perform the ritual to destroy the whole army at once. They're reading the spell, but something is missing, and the army attacks them here too. This time Bloom is left to figure out what were they missing, and some drops of her blood fell on the artifact and that was the last piece of the spell. The army is destroyed, but Icy was seriously injuried when covering Bloom from attack from behind. Now they're flying back to Magix

FUCK-- guys i'm sorry. More dialogues on the way.

"Why are you here?" she [Icy] asked, opening her eyes. "Doesn't want to miss your death!" Stella screamed, she overheard the talk. "Shut up!" I [Darcy] replied. "Or I'll hit you!" "Oh-oh, I'm so scared!" "Discussed my funeral already?" Icy asked, surprisingly, without sarcasm. "Come on, don't listen to that fairy! She has only fashion and straw in her head." Icy smiled weakly. "Magix!" Bloom screamed looking out the window. Fairies came closer to the glass. "Where?!" Icy got worried. Golden-green disc of the planet surrounded by thick ring of asteroids was hanging in the center of the window. Icy could see it without moving. "And here my dream came true. I got Magix!" she lifted her arm and closed her fingers around the planet. "Didn't think that the view from the space is so beautiful..."

DSHGJADFKAJHSFDJG what have i done. This line about her dream coming true HITS HARD. Fuck, 13 y.o. me knew which buttons she should push.

Icy dies. Darcy and Stormy were forgiven because they helped to stop the army and for Icy's "sacrifice" and everyone very conveniently forget that they started the recent war. The end.

Damn that was a ride.

um, so where were we?... right i was saying that Icy became my new hyperfixation instead of Bloom...

And i had the whole trilogy planned, in the first one she'd escape from some prison and attempt another plan to counquer Magix, but fail, in the next book she'd be KILLED by Bloom but came back to life by making a deal with someafterlife owner (HA) and the last one where she actually succeeds... this one i din't think through at ALL.

I kinda wanna revive that plot fron the second "book" tbh, i still remeber it really well.

Also, what did you think to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice? I liked it enough, but there was something missing from it, heart, maybe? I loved the idea that Beetlejuice legit thought his plan of using Bob as a decoy to face Delores would work, which to me suggests that he's either too lazy to think of a proper plan or he believes Delores would be stupid enough to fall for it, both of which are in character for him.

hmm of all the flaws the movie had, i wouldn't say beetlejuice beetlejuice lacked heart. in fact, i'd argue it was running on heart alone. i suppose that only makes sense if you've seen the interviews and are familiar with tim burton's career and what he's about, but this was a very personal project to him; i could go on about this but i don't want to ramble too much lol. i remember him and michael saying that they didn't really care if people ended up thinking the movie was garbage, because they absolutely LOVED making it. everyone was so genuinely into it, having so much fun filming, idk the behind the scenes stuff really stands out to me because of how much everyone is smiling and laughing. it almost feels as if the movie was just a cast reunion that they filmed just having fun with it and then deciding to share it with the world afterwards. it feels intimate, idk.

beetlejuice is very special to tim, michael and winona, they've always been protective of it and had a lot of conditions for a potential sequel because they wanted it to be just right. i'm actually surprised whenever i see people call it soulless because it was literally anything but. flawed? absolutely, but i can't find myself to care about those flaws because the fact that it was exactly the way tim wanted it to be is a already interesting enough and worth watching to me. i'm not sure people realize how rare that is with mainstream movies.

Also with Delores, I didn't get why she was made to be a threat? She's a six foot woman who pins people against a wall, chokes them and sucks their souls out. That's not a threat, that's my idea of a good time!

This has probably been said in the past however many hours since the ep dropped, but I really enjoyed the range of Dunk's acting this week! It feels like we're getting more and more from him as Style, and this week felt like the most he had to access different emotions in THK so far? (Please note I watched the ep once 11 hours ago and have slept since then, so I could be wrong lol)

The three moments that stood out to me:

Style's anger in the diner after he's made (another) scene and tells Fadel he doesn't get nailed and bailed. We've seen his frustration and annoyance at losing to Fadel before, but I was particularly struck by how Dunk manages to make his gaze both fiery and steely when they're having that stare off. I don't know if I'm describing it well, but I loved it. Also, I think that anger and frustration has always been real, too, not part of his performance, or at least not wholly his performance to win Fadel over, but even if it's the Real him, it's still guarded, I guess? And the way he used his body was great, too—like I could feel him literally vibrating with anger. And I could feel the humiliation beneath the anger!

Then, obviously, the moment before they kiss in the abandoned place (greenhouse? IDK) was the second one. That's the first time we see him completely unguarded with Fadel and it's beautiful. The look in his eyes?? Nearly took me out! I won't expand on it further because it would just be keyboard smashing, but gosh! Top tier eye acting there

And, of course, the gym scene—this one is maybe more obvious because no one could mistake what he's feeling, but it was more to contrast with both the other scenes this ep and because we haven't seen Style like this at all. It's a huge contrast to how we usually see him and Dunk nailed it. Like, it was both funny and keeping in line with the heightened tone of the show, but you (well, I) also felt genuinely nervous for/with him XD

(And all of this is played off of what Joong's doing too—I've always delighted in seeing them onscreen together but as I binged their previous two series, I haven't been able to really indulge in it like I have with THK)

There were definitely other moments too! Like, how he's different again with his dad, and of course the reveal scene with Kant, but those were just the Big Ones to me.

And, yeah, I feel like if you just took screenshots/gifs of his eyes in each scene, you'd see the different emotions so clearly? Maybe that seems obvious or silly to point out, but I'm a sucker for some good eye acting, and I'm enjoying the range of emotions Dunk has been giving so far

Just like any self-respecting Utena fan, I've latched onto a (semi) minor detail that I just can't find a satisfactory explanation for!

(MASSIVE RGU (series and movie) spoilers ahead!)

As someone who has engaged with RGU supplementary material plenty, it often goes out of its way to point out how Miki's eyes are "like crystals" and similar things. You can see it in the game and in the light novels.

The fan translation is accurate in this case.

So after staring at movie screenshots one too many times, I noticed that his eyes aren't blue there... they're green! And he's the only character whose eyes changed like this.

What does this mean? My first thought was to connect it with the characters who most prominently have green eyes in the series - Anthy, Akio and Dios. The characters who have the most power despite also being the most trapped in the system, with Anthy in particular having the power in the movie and being the only one of the three who is alive - if some theories are to be believed, she was the one who created the world the movie takes place in in the first place. However, she's also the person most trapped in it too.

However, their eyes are definitely not the same shade. More on that later.

An interesting part occurs in the movie during the Touga and Shiori scene - we cut to Miki and Kozue in the bath. It seems Miki has grown since the anime - he accepts that there's no going back to their childhood, and tells Kozue she's still precious to him. In response, Kozue threatens him with a razor and calls him a traitor.

And yet, the next time we see them, Kozue has become a car, and he smiles after she passes by, not sparing her a single glance. What happened? Did she become a sacrifice? She isn't seen individually afterwards unlike Shiori or Wakaba, she becomes just another car in the locust crowd. Perhaps more unsettling is the reason he gives to Juri for being a duelist - "I always wish to obtain more power". Juri responds to him by calling it manly.

That fucking smirk haunts me. Anyway.

Pursuit of power - doesn't this ring a bell? Perhaps like a certain student council president? Of course, in the movie, Touga is dead, so perhaps someone else took his place in the narrative... Miki. The unsettling implications of what happened to Kozue seem to add to this. Not quite as sinister as Touga's relationship with Nanami, and there's no reason to see it as similarly complex, but also I don't see what else it could be.

So even though Miki appears to be pursuing power at the cost of even his sister, potentially, he's unable to get there. His eyes are not the same shade as Anthy or Akio, not even close - they're much brighter. He appears to have shed some of his innocence - no longer wishing to go back to that garden - but he traded it to pursue more power. No wonder he isn't ready to leave Ohtori yet.

An English-speaking person may also be tempted to connect this to the common expression of "green-eyed envy", and yet I'm profoundly unsure if this is the case. He's never shown to be envious of the power possessed by anyone (unlike Touga, he can't look up to Akio, who is also very dead), even if he and Juri see the ghost of Dios inspecting the cars.

However, no matter how much he desires power, in the end, he's one of the people helping Utena and Anthy escape. He tells them how to go to the outside world. He promises the student council will join them eventually. Arguably the most good-natured interaction Anthy has with any of them.

His eyes appear to be showing how much he's changed since we saw him in the anime, and in some ways, perhaps not for the best. However, he's not fully trapped in the hell of Ohtori Academy yet - there is hope for him, even if he's strayed into such a dangerous path.

In the end, I think all of them deserve their revolution, even if the road getting there is bumpy.

...Or maybe they thought it would fit him more to have green eyes idk lol-

The fact that so many people don't like Khaos Reigns is CRAZY to me.

I watched that shit for the first time last night (after putting it off because I thought it was gonna be trash) and my God... That DLC had some of the most powerful imagery I've seen in a recent MK game. 🐉🔥

Some of my favorite parts included:

The Tanya and Orin Scene (Empress Tanya was just chef's kiss)

The Kolosseum Maze with all the traps

Cyrax and Sektor in general were just... SOOO GOOD!!! NRS ATEEE!!!

Sekhan is fucking cute and I will forever stand by that

Mileena's new Empress outfit?! Um YES!

Kuai Liang being an absolute dick for most of the DLC lol 😆

HARUMI!!! WITH A SWORD!!!

Kudos to Netherrealm frfr! They were really giving their girlies some screentime in this DLC and as a female MK fan I really appreciate it :)

The Handmaid's Tale Rewatch: 1x06

These rewatch posts will all be spoilery, so if you haven't seen the show and want to watch it unspoiled, read no further.

The opening of this episode is so hot lol. We had to just get that statement out of the way first. Also, if you watch the ending moments of 1x05 directly back to back with the heavy breathing over black from the opening of 1x06, it really compounds onto 1x05 exquisitely...

But then we also get the wall kiss, which is (in my opinion) one of the hottest kisses of all time. I've certainly watched it and analyzed it over a hundred times... And just when you think there's nothing left to discover, you watch this kiss again and realize you can hear Nick sigh through his nose, swallow, then take two affected breaths through his mouth before he starts kissing her. 💀

Then we have the hand touching in the hall outside Fred's study before the ambassador meeting, which is soooo sweet and angsty. The way Nick closes his eyes while he's touching her hand is just peak romance to me. He's so, so, so gone already. June also has a wonderful little eye flutter and breathy moment in the same scene that takes me out.

There are also just some incredible acting moments outside the romance and angsty/sexy bits. June's facial transformation at Fred’s door when he asks her to leave during Scrabble (when she’s not paying attention to him and forming “skin” with her tiles) - it’s so ridiculously well acted… the way she is so pissed and rolls her eyes up and then shifts into Offred mode. It's just so clear to me that Nick and the wall kiss that happened right before this scene in the study had successfully switched her back to her real self - to June - and she’s having trouble coming out of it before this moment where she's forced to be Offred again. And it’s so visible and haunting when she makes the switch.

Then there's the moment where Fred makes her kiss him and "mean it," coupled with the follow up scene where she's brushing her teeth until her mouth bleeds. I think about this all the time, actually - about how June must feel unable to "wash" Fred off herself - and I imagine her going to Nick's and scrubbing her skin raw sometimes after an encounter with Fred.

And finally, we have to talk about "my name is June" - when she finally tells Nick her real name while feeling vulnerable and safe with him after freaking out over lying to the Mexican ambassador by saying she's happy in Gilead. Nick's reading of her body language in this scene is uncanny, stopping when he knows she doesn't want to be touched, then going for the water to give her time to collect herself, then understanding that she wants his touch after she tells him her name. The way she just melts into his hand when he touches her face is gorgeous, and the little forehead kiss he gives her before holding her head against his chest in the hug at the end of the scene is the most adorably perfect button for one of the best hurt/comfort scenes I have ever witnessed on screen.

So, Cucuruchos.

There are so many of them that it is hard to differentiate each one. So let's make this straight:

CUCURUCHO is missing. My guess that he's been missing since before purgatory.

OSITO BIMBO took over for him and is even doing live streams. But is also doing his own investigations since the Fed doesn't let him know anything. Like, he didn't even knew the islanders went missing in that first live.

EVILRUCHO/■■■■■ invaded the Island after scaping the Feds and went on and killed Quackity.

He is now in hell torturing Quackity. It had a scene where is looked like he was impersonating Tilín, or maybe it is Tilin. But we know little to nothing about them. People also call them Oscurucho wich is a dope name.

And the very very new ones:

Portuguese speaking Cucurucho (that we know from some Bagi shenanigans that it's the same admin of Xaninho)

Portuguese Cucas was the one waking up the eggs (he left the voice box in Portuguese lol. Or maybe is was on purpose). Also, through Foolish's pov and the livestreams we know the feds have an entity called "The Doctor", and this cucurucho has been seen with a mask many times. Also, Alexandre's item is a mask, maybe a hint. So yeah. The Doctor.

French Cucurucho. The different looking cucurucho, with a different paw and pink nose. I've seen people call them Pinky. It is the one that appeared for Antoine. And the second and last time we saw Pinky (french cucurucho) was when they were giving away minime eggs after the A0 event.

Update: some lovely soul just told in the comments that the french fans are calling them Ourson

UPDATE: I saw a screenshot of Etoiles' live, where it showed a poster on a lab of the Federation, where they were keeping the captured code. It was talking about the dangers of the code infection and what to do and how to approach the entity blablaa And at the very end of it there was a photo of the face of a cucurucho with the text "Stay safe", or something like that.

Expect the cucurucho face had a mean scar across their right eye. And, it could be the weird angle of the shot, but their nose looked a little more on the brown side.

So.

Oh-ho, buckle up. I have opinions and I'm bad at summarizing.

Warning: I only play wlw routes in LITG, so I may be missing some cool things about the game, who knows.

First off, I like Lisbeth as a character. And Eisha seems sweet, too, but I'm a faithful woman. That said, I wish Ava was an option. They owe me after robbing me of a Estelle route, hahaha. C'mon fusebox, rivals-to-lovers when??? Because, let's be real, Gabi was gorgeous but, as everyone in Season 5, utterly insufferable and poorly written.

Anyway, there's still the same old problems that come with this game in general and wlw routes in particular:

We're already at the point were dialogue and scenes are merged no matter who it is that you choose. Exhibit A: "I didn't let you finish. It's the last time I do that today." Or whatever it was. Exhibit B: "It's you, it's always been you. You must know that." Both good but the same for everyone.

If you choose to be interested in just Lisbeth you're still forced to string along a guy that you "like the most". Despite saying openly that you like her you're still treated as if you're doing something wrong by having any kind of romantic interaction with her. Why do we have to sneak off at all when I said that I was twisting with a casa boy out of strategy? Let's see how movie night plays because I swear if I'm accused of cheating for having kissed her in casa I'm losing it. I was dumped! I was single! Cheating on whom?!

There's also this curious thing with the female LIs, that I think should be done with all LIs. If you reject them once, it's over XDDD Practically the only choice that gets acknowledged. But seriously, sometimes I'm even hesitant of not choosing a single option that hints that MC is interested in a woman because I fear it'll lock me out of her route. If you compare that to the men, who you can reject over and over again in increasingly rude ways without them ever leaving you alone... Yeah, guess that's Fusebox.

Also, this season was supposed to be all about branching (which, mind you, is the least an interactive story should offer) and your choices, and how compatible you are with the other islanders but... Nothing really matters. Even the emojis stopped popping out. It's so disheartening. The rotten cherry on top was that one compatibility challenge where not only did our choices not matter, they didn't even bother to show us the results at all. Like, WTF?

I also think, though this is probably an unpopular opinion, that there are too many sex scenes and they feel out of place. They feel way too rushed and aren't really good, either. Whether you take the initiative or the LI does, it's the exact same description; the props box should be forbidden considering whatever you choose to use barely participates anyway. I haven't seen any screenshots from the sex scenes with the male LIs, but I'm also pretty sure they're all the same that the ones you get with Lisbeth, and obviously written with the boys in mind. Because the shower sex scene? XDDD Are you telling me Lisbeth, SHE, is holding BOTH MC's hands up against the glass, MC has a leg around her and they're both getting off at the same time? Perhaps not impossible, but let me tell you, if I had one leg around another woman's hips, it'd be very hard for us to grind against each other while we're both standing. Plus, safety hazard. With just one leg for leverage you're bound to slip LOL And with our hands out of the equation... I don't see the sight.

Back to the romance itself, I feel like I hardly know Lisbeth beyond what she does for work. Maybe with the men it doesn't feel so strange because you get to go on dates and to pair up with them for challenges, but for Lisbeth's route it's like you get two lines of dialogue if you choose premium choices and then either shove your tongue down her throat or have the scene end early.

I keep thinking back to Angie's route, in which you get a sense of her strengths and weaknesses little by little throughout conversations without them being spelled out (she's protective and caring, but also judgemental and blunt), and a lot of details about her life away from the show: her bond with her sisters, her tense relationship with her father, her dramatic ex stories, why she chose to be a paramedic instead of a doctor, how she winds down when she's stressed... She's just fleshed out in a way that other seasons don't allow.

When I compare that to Lisbeth's route I'm like, what happened here? How is it that I know nothing about my main (and only) LI but still can sleep with her three, four, whatever times? Personality-wise, all I know is that she's outspoken without coming across as a bitch, and that she has some witty moments. I still laugh when I remember the silver spoon comment at the beginning of the season. Still, not knowing that much about her makes certain things feel very rushed. Like, when she says how close to MC she feels. Why? How?

I believe that's mostly how the game itself is but I really wish they would let us actually talk with other contestants for something other than gossip (that you have to pay for). All conversations are about what other islanders are up to, gossip, jealousy or kinks. Even when you can choose to do something interesting it's just underwhelming.

Like, I'm forced to go on a date with Tristan, of all motherfucking people and I can't even grab Lisbeth for a moment to tell her not to worry? I have to make do with a half-assed "my head won't turn" in front of whoever happens to be in the dressing room?

Dont' get me wrong, it's not the worst season ever, and some volumes were actually entertaining. Especially the first ones, when people seemed to have a distinct personality. It's just... My honest opinion? If this was the debut season of a new game, if I wasn't fond of LITG because of the memories that I have after playing it for years, since it first came out, I wouldn't be playing it at all. And that can be said for every single season starting on Season 5.

There’s a grocery store that’s a ten minute drive from Vincent’s apartment. 

I rewrote this scene... 3 or 4 times? It gave me sooo much trouble 😭 I think in the first draft Vincent actually tears up tasting Yves's cooking. (I know, Vincent, I want Yves to cook for me too 😭❗️)

Terrible (ugh 😭) first draft screenshot under the cut (screenshot = old draft, indented quote = current draft):

I wrote this ^, and I was like... this moment just feels unearned? I personally despise outlining + I love going in (mostly) blind. Sometimes the first draft works out of the box, and in this case, the first draft (and the second draft, and the third draft) were all soooo bad that I literally had to take a month-long break to regain my confidence 😭

Anyways! I knew right away that Y was going to cook something for V (it's mentioned here and there throughout the series that he is a really good cook 😭 And in part 3 of Fool Me Twice, Yves promises to make Vincent something more ambitious than hot chocolate. He's finally kept his promise now, 12 installments later 🙇‍♀️ )

From draft 2, there was only one scene which I was sure I was going to include in the final draft, aka, spared from the recycling bin. (But I just checked the final draft and it's nowhere to be seen?? Interesting.)

I would have managed fine on my own.

On this (deleted) scene, and more broadly: I think it's important to me that Yves recognizes that Vincent is self-sufficient in many ways: when Vincent says he will be fine alone, he is telling the truth. Yves doesn't have to stay—he recognizes this too, when he heads for the door in the published draft.

Still, Yves stays, of course—initially, because he insists, and later, because Vincent asks :)

“…You won’t leave unless I eat, then,” Vincent says. He says it evenly enough that it barely registers as a question. Yves smiles at him. It’s not a wrong conclusion. “Exactly,” he says.

It was really, really fun writing the differences between caretaker!Vincent (in Fool Me Twice pt. 5) and caretaker!Yves 😊 I usually don't like to say too much on the end of character analysis, bc I like my work to be interpreted as it is: the text is canon, and everything I'm saying here is just me yapping on about my headcanons. (I have been roasted for saying this by a dear friend of mine, probably rightfully so:)

With that disclaimer: Vincent to me (I can only speculate, etc) is a very no-bullshit caretaker (he likes to enforce whatever will lead most directly to the person's recovery; he actually worries a lot, but his worry often manifests as frustration/snappishness), whereas Yves is a lot more permissive and, for the most part, manages his stress—he is the eldest sibling, after all! I think he does what he can to make it a more tolerable experience :)

“So this is just a Yves thing.” “What? Showing consideration for my friends?”  “Showing consideration is one thing,” Vincent answers. “You could have left after dropping off the files. You would still have been showing your consideration.” “I guess that’s true. But at that point, I was already here,” Yves says, with a shrug. “It seemed logical to check up on you.” “Well, now you’ve checked up on me,” Vincent says. “So you can go.” Yves supposes this is true.

Vincent takes things very literally (and I think he's actually quite aware of the social niceties around these kinds of things, which is in part why he is so skeptical to assume that Yves means anything more.)

There’s a hand on his sleeve, tugging. Yves goes very still. When Vincent notices what he’s done, alarm flashes through his expression, and he pulls his hand away as if he’s burned.  “Sorry,” he murmurs, again. And just like that, he’s back to how he always is—his expression perfectly, carefully neutral, in a way that can only be constructed. “I’m sorry.” But Yves doesn’t forget what he’s seen. “You can go.”

This scene means a lot to me!! It took a loooot of editing to hammer into place (the doc I wrote it on is titled "fixing this scene would FIX ME" haha). I think this is the first time Vincent has actively sought out Yves's comfort 😭 And he regrets it almost as soon as he's said it, because he does not do things without a good justification, and wanting something—even wanting it badly—does not feel like a sufficient justification to him. But give Yves an inch and he will take a mile!! He will take a hundred miles!! That is just the kind of person that Yves is.

I was talking with some friends previously about how I wanted to write Vincent reaching out for Yves. How I wanted Vincent to, through the haze of fever, cross a line that he'd previously not allowed himself to cross :') I think it is a time-old trope to have someone, in their feverish delirium, utter something embarrassing and utterly uncharacteristic of them, or divulge something that has been difficult for them to say.

This whole time drafting, I was thinking, how can I set up a moment like that and have it feel earned? How badly would he have to be feeling? What kind of setup would justify getting past his 590859 mental defenses? (I do not like to outline, but sometimes I do have an emotional beat that I have in mind, and then I have to work backwards to figure out the setup. This took SO much working back from, and I really thought about it for very long). I was almost sure that Vincent would regret it immediately after too 😭

Yves opens his arms out in offering, tries on a smile. “I’ve been told I give good hugs. Good enough to cure all ailments, obviously.”

Ahh, so Y offering V a hug is inspired by a fic I read 6 years ago, where a character offers another a hug as a joke and then the other character surprises them by taking it. Yves is really offering here, but I think he recognizes that joking about it will make it easier for Vincent to accept 😭

Yves has hugged a fair share of people in his life. He doesn’t think he’d be able to list them all if he were asked to. It’s different, though, being so close to Vincent—so close that Yves can reach out and let his hair fall through his fingertips. He can lift up his palm and feel the rigid line of his spine, the slope of his shoulders; he could reach out and trace the dip of his wrist, the form of his hand. Vincent’s chin digs slightly into his left shoulder. His nose is turned slightly into Yves’s neck—like this, he is almost perfectly still. Yves can feel the warm brush of air against his neck whenever Vincent exhales. He is so close that Yves is afraid, for a moment, that he might hear how badly his heart is racing.

I have nothing to say about this paragraph except that I edited it for like 40 minutes straight.

Last thing!!

“We had a habit of keeping the heat off, in the winters, and closing the windows.”

The scene near the end (where Vincent tells Yves about his childhood) is actually the scene which came the most easily to me. I also did not write it last; I jumped around. It took me around 1.5 hours. (By comparison, simply editing the scene before it took 11 😵‍💫)

I did always intend for Vincent to disclose... well, /something/ about himself. (You can tell that when I plan, that's really as far as I plan LOL)

Anyways, when Vincent wakes Yves up (after Yves falls asleep at his desk), I initially wrote it so that Yves wakes Vincent from a nightmare.

But (as direct a link to vulnerability as that might have been,) Vincent would not talk about his nightmare 😭 So I switched gears.

I also specifically wanted to write about Vincent's experience being cared for growing up. I think something that's culturally resonant with me (as an Asian American, and the eldest daughter to immigrant parents) is like, the ways families can and cannot say I love you—the quiet things that are done in place of a more direct expression of it. The way that while unspoken consideration can speak volumes, it can just as easily be invisible. But even now, writing this post, I feel like it's difficult for me to untangle the feelings and experiences I've had into something that feels sufficiently multifaceted.

Vincent has a different childhood from I do (it is probably worth noting that I do not project onto any of my characters, nor do I use them as a vessel to get my own experiences across). I think I'm just drawn to writing tricky/non-straightforward expressions of love, in general :) Sometimes that is the kind of love that resonates with me most.

Hudson and Rex S04E15 - Nightmare on Water St. - Part B

Well, someone had a lot of fun filming these shots.

Not that I don't like the Charah scenes, but the distribution is wrong. Charlie is always with Rex, so Sarah should have gone with Jesse. Or they could have given Rex to Jesse, or Charlie could have gone with Jesse and Rex with Sarah. But I don't know why no one thought that someone might have it in for the coach too.

Here's the thing. When you do a creepy episode, you expect the creepy looking guy to be the killer. So you'll either have to show the audience more creepy guys as red herrings or to cast someone that looks more like an average joe as the killer.

What a great positive influence this man must have been in his son's life.

Also, I'm hoping that Justin Kelly is getting other acting gigs because he's certainly under-utilized on Hudson and Rex.

In any other show, movie or drama podcast, this decision would have haunted Charlie because of course they'd write about the serial killer fixating on the woman who successfully profiled him.

Well, there's nothing that explicitly says, "I'll get out and come find you" but they could definitely have him make a comeback if they wanted. Although, to be fair, his entire thing was that he wanted to find the people that ruined his life. I don't think that includes Sarah. But, with the way she profiled him, Sam could consider her the only person who actually understood him. So, that could also be a solid reason. Yes, I spend a lot of time thinking about criminal motivation.

Good episode. It was a nice level of creepy without being too much. Or anyway, for those of us who have watched Criminal Minds it was comfortable lol. I don't know about the rest, I'll need someone else's opinion.

Charlie and Sarah were i n c o r r i g i b l e in their flirting, I don't know where they found so much time with a serial killer on the loose. They're multitaskers. Also, in retrospect, I think I should have paid more attention to Joe and Jesse's knowing looks before saying that they pretty much had no idea what was happening under their nose. I'm just more used to other shows having characters very non-subtly point out that two characters should get together and be all up on their business.

In 5x12, when they’re back at the station and talking about Lucy transferring, right after they realize their shifts probably won’t sync and they’ll see each other less, she’s reaching for the bags and you can literally see like such sadness on Tim’s face. He’s in that moment 100% making the decision to go to Grey and move out of patrol.

It’s such a quick little moment, not even a second but if you watch him in that scene you’ll see it. I tried to grab it in screenshots but look

YEEES! And I love it so much! Thanks for sharing! Listen, this scene is the gift that keeps on giving : the more you watch it, the more details you catch.

And this one is so easy to miss with everything happening. Not to mention that, as you just said, it's a blink-and-you-miss-it kind of moment. I think I caught it on a rewatch (I can't even tell you how many times I've watched it). Or maybe it was on a gif? Anyway. There's so much sadness, pain and longing in that look. There were both getting nostalgic at the idea of this being their last shift riding together and the second Lucy tells Tim that it's going to be weird to no longer see him all day, it really hits him. And I think it also triggers some memories for him. He knows all about the difficulties of having a partner working in a different station, of having to sync-up their shifts. That was his life for close to a decade. And while Lucy is coming to terms with the reality of the situation, Tim is hit with this wave of sadness. He's picturing a future where they won't see the other at the station, be able to go home together at the end of their shifts or even see each other for days when she's working the night shifts.

So yes, I agree with you : to me, that's also the moment he decides to do something about it, to see Grey and move out of patrol. He's seen this film before and didn't like the ending. Seeing Lucy less is not an option he's interested in. Not when he can do something about it. Remember when Lucy used to say she couldn't wait to be "free" of him or when Tim used to pretend he wouldn't miss her?! A joke.

2+ Star Axl/Sue Episodes of "The Middle" Season 7 (After Ep. 13)

This is based on @heckcest's episode commentaries. I loved their guide to Axl/Sue episodes, but unfortunately they stopped mid-season 7, so I decided to do my own continuation so that newer fans of the ship (like a handful of you, if even) will know which episodes are worth watching. But to be honest, I'm mainly doing this for myself so I can gush. If you've seen @heckcest's commentaries, you'll notice that I have simplified my descriptions, focusing only on Axl/Sue commentary, and my way of rating may be slightly different. Let me know how you'd rate these episodes and I may even make some adjustments.

My General Rating System:

1 star - They're both in the episode, but don't interact much, or at least not notably. I won't be writing about these, so you can skip these episodes if you're just looking for Axl/Sue moments.

2 stars - They're both in the episode and may not interact much, but maybe there's just one little line or moment I feel like deserves to be pointed out. These episodes can be skipped, or you can just watch the scene I point out if you really feel like it.

3 stars - The episode has a plot revolving around the two of them. OR they may not have a plot revolving around them, but there's a very notable moment they have. You should probably watch these episodes.

4 stars - An Axl and Sue centric episode. OR there's just a lot of good Axl/Sue moments -- showing affection, getting along, a heartfelt interaction, and all that bubbly stuff. Definitely watch these ones!

5 stars - The best of the best in MY opinion! You just gotta watch them! And then rewatch them!

Episode Ratings and Commentary:

Ep. 15 | "Hecks at a Movie" | 2 stars | As the title implies, the Hecks go to a movie. Sue and Axl sit next to each other! That's it.

Ep. 17 | "The Wisdom Teeth" | 5 STARS | !!!!! LITERALLY EVERYTHING. Basically, Sue and Axl get their wisdom teeth removed at the same time and Frankie is excited to care for them both TOGETHER as they recover. While still loopy from the drugs on the ride home from the dentist, Axl admits that he thinks Sue is really nice and that he loves her. Brick records this. They both rest on the couch. I like to imagine some cuddling was involved. The next day while sober, they see the recording. Sue figures out Axl's insecurity about showing vulnerability and he is in TURMOIL. I've never seen him like this in any other episode! And she's all like, "Say it, Axl. Say you love me." On another note, it's always funny when the older siblings kind of look down on Brick (idk a better way to phrase that. Poor Brick. He is objectively the best character). The ending with the fork is very sweet. This whole episode feels like a fanfiction! Axl makes so many cute expressions in this one, so expect lots of screenshots!

Ep. 19 | "Crushed" | 3 stars | Sue gets a crush on her professor, and like I totally get it, but it is kinda hard to watch lol. Axl doesn't have much of a plot, but he does just randomly show up to Sue's dorm and lay in her bed. He teases about dating her roommate, which she adamantly refuses to let happen. Then later in the episode, he hides in her bed and it's great! There's not a lot of moments between the two, but the little tiny bit there is is wonderful, so that's why I was originally unsure if it's a 2 or 3 star on the Heckcestometer. (I'm still figuring out this whole rating system). But in the end I decided that this one definitely deserves a watch if you're looking for some cute Axl & Sue scenes <3

Ep. 22 | "Not Mother's Day" | 4 stars | Again, Sue and Axl don't interact a lot in this episode BUT when they do towards the end, it's great!! Axl is so sweet towards Sue! When Sue is crying on the couch after losing her bedroom to Brick, Mike getting Woofy repaired (it's just not the same), and feeling anxious about being on her own for the summer, Axl comes over to console her. Like, actually console her. No sarcasm, or mean gestures, or anything. He tells her she's ready to be on her own and then helps to bring Woofy back to its former glory. And in the end, he even offers to let her share his bedroom?! Which she gratefully agrees to. Um, hello?! I wish we actually got to see them share the room, but maybe leaving it for the imagination is more fun ;)

Ep. 23 | "Find My Hecks" | 5 STARS | Just. Wow. I can't believe there's already another 5 star episode?! Maybe I'm overexaggerating because I just watched the episode? No, it's for sure a 5 star. Okay, there's so much to say here. Right off the bat we see Sue and Axl just chilling out on the couch and genuinely getting along and being lazy together. Apparently they're still sharing a room together too! Idk why I thought that was just like a one time thing last episode. We see them then chilling in their room together. There's no fighting nor animosity towards each other at all. In fact, practically none throughout the episode. Axl even invites Sue to a party, and they stay out past curfew and get pancakes together! Too bad we don't get to see that though. Their parents get upset at them for staying out so late and set their curfew to 10. Well, of course Axl convinces Sue to ignore the curfew and they go out partying again. It's like they're dating!! There's so much here left to the imagination, heheh. Mike and Frankie don't bug the kids about the curfew thing because they're secretly tracking them on their phones, but one night the phone glitches out and makes it appear like they're stuck in a ditch somewhere. The parents go out frantically to find their kids, only for Axl and Sue to come home to a parentless home. Turns out Axl has also been secretly tracking the parents on his phone and sees they're in a ditch somewhere. Axl and Sue both rush out to save they're parents. Finally they all reunite, but it becomes a bit of a parents vs Axl & Sue argument about all the secret tracking. It's really cute seeing Axl and Sue teaming up so much in this episode!! It feels like their dynamic has certainly changed since "The Wisdom Teeth" episode. Like they've been getting along a lot more. Gosh, there's so much more I could say about this episode, but it's already getting too long. Just WATCH IT! Probably one of my favorite episodes ever.

Ep. 24 | "The Show Must Go On" | 2 Stars | They hardly interact. But wait, hear me out -- "Sue being in a dorky costume. Can't miss that." ~ Axl. asdhfgskjlgs. They also sit next to each other a few times and they're dressed up so cutely.

please recommend some asmr channels 🙏

ok i'm going to assume you're familiar with the big names like goodnight moon (big favourite), latte, tingting and ppomo. if not...get the hell on youtube.

i almost exclusively listen to female voiced roleplays so that's going to be really obvious here.

one of my favourite channels i've ever found is moonlight cottage asmr. her voice is beautiful, intelligent and a little bit more mature and the french accent just hits. her historical videos are compelling, you can tell they're passion projects and she is quite an actress.

another definite recommend is ALB in whisperland. she has a gentle voice, her soft speaking is so good, and she has a lot of videos where she delicately does things with her beautiful hands, which i like a lot.

some more in no particular order:

-aen ani asmr. i feel like she's so underrated. she mainly does fantasy roleplays in costumes and the channel is still a bit small so you have a good chance of getting a reply or your request being included in a video. it's not like, insanely polished and high production value but i like it.

-asmr mood. speaks russian but many are subtitled in english. oftentimes has fanservice and is one of the few asmrtists (on my list, maybe even in general) who usually presumes the viewer as male. i don't care about it but it means there's no makeup videos (which i find boring). and as i've said before, when the russian language k and t sounds come out in asmr i... no, i shan't say.

-amy kay asmr. pretty much exclusively roleplays and usually has interesting concepts (ie not the 5 millionth makeup and cranial nerve exam). confident and charismatic and is a bit more peppy in the way she speaks rather than the, like, pure bedtime voices.

-eunzel asmr. korean with english subs + english spoken videos. roleplays, also weird and odd triggers. i've rewatched both of her "doctor asking you insanely personal questions" videos many times.

-bluewhisper. first asmr video i ever watched was her (sadly quickly deleted) "rescuing harambe" video which got screenshotted and i think gave her a lot of negative attention because her sense of humour is playing it completely straight and people are obsessed with being smarter than the person being ironic. she does simple roleplays, vlogs, flips through the new burpee seed catalog once a year for her garden and opens pokemon cards.

-seafoam kitten asmr. if you remember the "adorable organ harvester uwu asmr" screenshot going around, that's her. she does weird, cringe-humour roleplays. she also has a slightly risque one where you get indoctrinated into being a "love pet" puppy which i think would do numbers on here.

-myaling asmr. english with korean accent. mostly long roleplays, very sweet voice and puts great effort into having a lot of props, background detail etc. often has cinematic intros which i love. her "aesthetic school outfit styling" has probably my favourite intro scene i've ever seen in asmr.

-callie blossom asmr. she's strikingly beautiful and has a "girl who's secretly obsessed with you" series that is very popular with lesbians for good reason.

-maya winky asmr. silly, fast paced humour asmr. i feel bad not saying more but like just look at her channel lol

-mid mod meridian asmr. american accent. older lady who does 50s, 60s and 70s themed roleplays. not to be like aww sweet grandma but. yeah.

-ella asmr. korean with english subs. a lot of scifi themed videos with special effects, surgery on you and mechanical equipment sounds.

-whispering willow asmr. nice, simple, basic roleplays, usually in the 20-30 min range. i like when videos aren't too long because i usually clock out after 5 minutes anyway.

-african xhosa asmr. criminally underrated. she speaks and has a few videos teaching phrases in xhosa, a south african language with clicks that i've never even heard before. also talks about history and culture often.

-90sfairyasmr. relatively new channel with not too many videos, she mostly flips through y2k/1990s teen magazines so far.

-asmr emiko ffujio. no talking, but has cool slimes and fake cooking.

-gentle whispering asmr. a very big channel, russian accented. i like her voice and soft speaking a lot but her topics tend to bore me a bit. it's generally beauty focused.

-triniti j asmr. american accent. i havent watched a lot of hers because they're usually beauty focused, but for example in the "best friend picks out your smell goods" she gets really close to the mic and chews gum which creates a speaking sound i like a lot. idk how to describe it lol

-pelagea asmr. doesn't upload on youtube anymore but a lot of backlog. mostly more or less fanservicey videos that get a bit unintentionally silly and too much sometimes. i mainly recommend her "100 ways to kiss" video with the lesbian bait thumbnail that got her 13 million views.
