Aran and Tattoo also seem color-coded, like Tattoo is usually darker shaded and Aran lighter. But sometimes, they also bleed into each other. Just their whole dynamic is so fascinating.

I'm not sure about Aran x Tattoo's color coding because they seem like they should be white x black.

Like yin and yang.

Like they said.

And Tattoo feels like he should be a Black Brooder since his life, well, sucks.

But the thing is, Aran is dark too.

We assume that the rich fem boy should be light.

But I think the show is saying something about how we are underestimating just how hard Aran's life has been.

His mom died only leaving behind a necklace which he lost, his dad is abusive and never loved him, and his whole life has been founded on oppression, lies, and violence. Pretty dark, eh?

And we've been shown several times that once Aran discards his calculated facade, what lies underneath is pretty dark.

Literally! What is underneath his light clothing is dark clothing!

And that's something else I've noticed about Aran. He is black and white.

While Tattoo only feels dark as Aran threatens to stab him.

Tattoo actually has color.

At least more color than black and white Aran.

So if anything, I wouldn't really categorize them as dark and light.

But more as a black/white guy who is at opposition within himself and his surroundings and a guy who has to hide his color.

Because I think that is what the colors are telling us.

But as a shipper, I also like that they match each other's energy.

When they are around each other, Tattoo can be colorful, and Aran can get out of being his normal black/white self.

So I get why some might think Aran is light and Tattoo is dark but, once again, Tattoo is actually wearing a color unlike Aran.

Therefore, if they are color-coded, I think the story is finally allowing Tattoo the freedom to be his true colorful and creative self, and Aran is getting to see the colorful world outside of his black/white upbringing.

But then again, I'm really not sure what is going on with them.

I just know I love them.

Actually on the topic of Mahiru's wonderful woman wrongs, I cannot get over her Trial 1 VD. It is such a perfect example of how she crosses other people's boundaries, especially Es' Like, she flirts with them. Just straight up flirts with them, even after knowing their age, even after knowing that Es themself is not interested in romance

(x) Mahiru: What's your name? Your age? Es: It's Es. As for my age, I'm...15, I think.

11 Minutes Later...

(x) Mahiru: Eh? Does that mean you'll always keep your eyes on me? Es: What? Well, it's my duty after all. Mahru: [Gets Excited] Es: What is it? Mahiru: My heart skipped a beat.

(x) Es: In order for me to understand all of you, I have to acquire knowledge from various fields, and that's not exactly a bad thing in my book. Mahiru: Really? I...I love studious people as well~! Es: Shut it. < clearly uncomfortable Mahiru: You're so mean. < ignoring the fuck out of that fact

Like... excuse me ma'am? Even amongst those who criticize Mahiru's actions, or just straightup do not like her, I rarely ever see this brought up, presumably because it's an uncomfortable thing to acknowledge. And like...I get that, but I also don't think it's fair to Mahiru's character to ignore that she did in fact do this, because it's such a great show of how she, to put it bluntly, does not give a shit about other people's boundaries and will push and push and push even though they are uncomfortable. Just like she did with her boyfriend.

Personally one of my favorite things about the Donald Duck comics by Carl Barks, that no adaptation really touched on in meanimgful ways is each character's unique relationship with money.

Scrooge McDuck loves money, and he always tries to get more because just the act of earning money is fun for him, and he doesn't want to spend any of it, he's a saver.

Donald Duck always tries to get more money because he loves the pleasures money can bring him, he's a spendthrift.

Gladstone Gander doesn't value money or hard work because he can get his way with just his luck. He actually views work as something shameful.

Gyro Gearloose doesn't really value money because just the act of working and inventing new stuff brings him joy.

The Beagle Boys want to become rich for a purely financial reason, and the best way they can do it is by robbing Scrooge.

Glomgold is very much like Scrooge in the way he saves his money and is proud of it, but even since his very first comic it's implied he hasn't made his money honestly, unlike Scrooge. And additionally his goal is not simply to get richer but to prove he's richer than Scrooge.

It can also be said to some villain goals.

The Beagle Boys trying to steal the biggest part of Scrooge's fortune.

Magica De Spell trying to steal the smallest part of Scrooge's fortune.

Glomgold trying to surpass Scrooge's fortune.

And more random villains like Chisel NcSue trying to get Scrooge's fortune via legal methods (hence the Sue in the McName).

Overall I think this detail really makes the Barks comics more cohesive and interesting, and it's a shame we haven't really gotten a proper representation of it
