i just dont understand why people cant interact with the bad things of the world without either putting the affected group of people on a pedestal or demonizing them. you know everyone deserves to not be fucking tortured no matter how bad or good a person they are, right? right?

Hello, lovely writer!!
Would you be willing to do a Rowaelin where there’s this giant romantic surprise (of your choosing) Rowan’s been planning for weeks
Valentines, anniversary, just because he can.
No pressure if you don’t like it.
A/N: I had a thousand ideas for this one, but I decided to keep it simple. I hope you enjoy! x Warnings: language
Tumblr media
Everything was set, ready.
Rowan knew because he'd checked ten times and then once more for good measure. Although a cliche to propose to your girlfriend on Valentine's Day, Rowan thought it would surprise Aelin the most, considering he often ranted about how much he hated romantic cliches.
Gods, he was nervous.
Rowan was standing on a rooftop, surrounded by lanterns, string lights, and white rose petals. He was dressed in a suit that was way too expensive. He'd bought it that morning and physically flinched when he swiped his card, but he looked pretty damn good, so it was worth it.
At least, that's what Lysandra convinced him of.
Now he stood alone, waiting. Lysandra was supposed to pick Aelin up for a group date, where they would meet Rowan and Aedion at one of their favorite restaurants on this side of town. Little did Aelin know that they would be arriving at Rowan's apartment complex and coming up to the rooftop, overlooking the city of Orynth.
Little did she know that Rowan was about to ask her to be his wife.
He'd wanted to do it for a while now, but really grew serious about it a few months before. It wasn't something he wanted to rush, but something he wanted to take his time with. Aelin didn't deserve a spur of the moment proposal. She deserved a proposal as grand and dramatic as she was.
Rowan went to the railing and looked down at the street below. There was still no sign of Aelin.
They were taking forever.
Pulling out his phone, he shot a quick text to Lysandra. ETA?
She texted him back right away. We'll be there soon. Deep breaths.
Rolling his eyes, Rowan put his phone back into his pocket. Deep breaths. Like he wasn't calm. He was calm.
No, he wasn't.
He took Lysandra's advice and closed his eyes, taking in one deep breath after another. He did another check in his jacket pocket for the custom ring he'd had made for Aelin, tucked inside of a small velvet box. It was there, just like it had been every other time that he'd checked.
He paced for another fifteen minutes before his phone vibrated again. Lysandra. We have arrived.
Rowan went to the far side of the roof, where he stood beneath a flower arch. At first, Rowan had been against the white arch spun in roses, but Lysandra had insisted that it wasn't over the top. It was just enough.
He felt like he'd been standing there forever, alone on the roof, beneath the arch, but then the roof door opened, and she came out onto the rooftop.
Lysandra gave Rowan a wink before shutting the door, leaving the two of them alone.
Aelin barely made it beyond the door as she stared around the roof in awe, before her gaze landed on Rowan.
"Ro," she breathed, "what the hell is going on?"
This was it.
He felt like he was going to vomit.
"You don't like it?" he teased.
Aelin let out a shaky laugh, her eyes already misty. "I love it. I love it, Ro."
She made it to Rowan at last, between the aisle of rose petals. And before he said anything, Rowan fell to one knee.
"Aelin," he began, slowly, looking up at her, "I-"
"Yes."
Rowan hesitated. "Yes?"
"Yes."
He laughed, quietly. "I haven't even said anything yet."
"It doesn't matter." She was already crying, taking his hands. "My answer is yes."
Now Rowan was thrown off. Happy, overjoyed, excited as fuck, but thrown off. "Should I just get rid of the speech I wrote, then?"
He had been writing it for weeks.
Surely someone should hear it.
Aelin laughed again, shaking her head. "No, no, I'm sorry, please, I want to hear it."
Rowan opens his mouth, but soft laughter is all that comes out. This woman drove him mad. All this planning, all these months, and she just comes in hot, saying yes. But he can’t be mad, because that’s why he fell in love with her. She’s headstrong, she knows what she wants, and she does what she wants without waiting for anyone else.
So Rowan shook his head and said, “I love you. I want you every day, for the rest of my life.”
Aelin waited for him to go on with misty eyes, but when he didn’t, she asked, “Oh, shit, was that it?”
Ignoring the two page speech in his pocket, Rowan said, “Marry me.”
The tears in Aelin's eyes spilled over as she nodded, and then she was kissing him, urgently, relentlessly. "Of course. Of course."
Rowan was so caught up in the moment that he almost forgot about the ring. For something he had been planning for months, nothing was going as planned, but it was all so much better than he could have imagined.
Yes.
She told him yes.
Nothing else mattered.
Everything else was irrelevenant.
Nonetheless, Rowan took the little velvet box out of his pocket and opened it up. Aelin began crying all over again, holding out her left hand in anticipation. Rowan slid the ring onto her finger and they both stared, in awe of this moment.
This was it.
This was the moment that they would tell their children about, their grandchildren about. And it was perfect, even if all of Rowan's planning had gone completely down the drain.
He didn't care about the planning.
He didn't care about any of it. All he cared about was the fact that Aelin had said yes, that she was going to be his wife.
Considering that, nothing else mattered.

Ooh that Percy Jackson au looks cool! :0 Do you mind expanding on it?
ok ok ok so most of those aus have the watt characters in those universes but this one has the pjo kids in the watt universe!! it's kinda been awhile ajdnsnsjf but i think i had
riley - silena
cairo - clarisse
chess - annabeth
kate - thalia
farrah - nico
annleigh - hazel
reese - leo
mattie - will
eva - reyna
clark - frank
so basically, silena, a senior, is the new captain of the goode high school cheer team, which is widely known as the worst team ever. she's hosting the annual sleepover, but it's not going well. the cheer team consists of silena's best friend clarisse, also a senior; annabeth, a senior, who was almost an olympian but a knee injury forced her to drop out; thalia, a junior, annabeth's best friend who's a little bit in love with her but in denial about it; hazel, a junior, a very religious girl who's always babysitting her stepbrother; nico, a sophomore, hazel's stepbrother who's an alcoholic; will, a freshman, who's new to the team this year; and leo, a senior, the mascot who's dreamed about being on the team for years but has never made it on.
last year, at a game, during a stunt, annabeth was high on the painkillers for her knee and dropped nico. the failed stunt was recorded, and it still haunts the team to this day.
after introductions, the group plays truth or dare, and silena can tell the sleepover isn't going well - clarisse dared will to drink from nico's "water" bottle, hazel is upset about clarisse's unsolicited co-captain comment, and when nico and thalia get into a fight and thalia storms out of the basement, silena is backed into a corner. in the meantime, thalia admits to her fear of annabeth forgetting about her once she's in college, but after finding annabeth's bottle of pills, is furious and leaves her out there alone. nico tries to apologise to hazel, who snuck her phone away and is texting her boyfriend, but accidentally breaks her phone, and hazel also storms off. annabeth is just about to go find thalia and say they can leave when someone appears from nowhere and kills her.
hazel retreats to silena's kitchen, trying to get her phone to turn on, but it won't. someone surprises her in the kitchen, and she's overjoyed to see her boyfriend, frank. they kiss and talk, and he proposes unexpectedly, but then clarisse shouts hazel's name and frank hides in the pantry. the doorbell rings, and hazel and clarisse go to answer it, while frank sneaks out.
the doorbell is the pizza delivery girl, reyna, the captain of west high school's cheer team and the highest ranked flyer in the state. clarisse recognizes her, and reyna doesn't handle the conversation as well as she could've, and leaves awkwardly. hazel and clarisse go down to the basement, and clarisse tells silena who answered the door, and she gets excited and shows will a video of reyna from last year. while silena tells will about what it's like to be a cheerleader, leo watches from the corner and laments the fact that he's never been allowed on the team. thalia comes back down to the basement without annabeth, and clarisse teases her about her feelings for annabeth. silena asks leo to go find annabeth and nico, but leo has just barely left the basement when will rushes into the bathroom and pukes.
nico, upstairs, is also puking. leo finds him, and asks if he's okay, and maybe he should go get hazel? but nico says no, hazel hates him. they talk for a bit, but nico accidentally fucks up and says the wrong thing, and leo leaves the bathroom. nico stares at himself in the mirror and hates that this is his life, and resolves to get better, but someone barges through the door and kills him just moments after he makes the decision.
back in the basement, leo comes downstairs, pretending he didn't find nico and actually having not found annabeth. thalia asks about annabeth, and clarisse keeps teasing her and joking that they're a couple, which silena overhears. silena comes downstairs and tells thalia she's "welcome here in whatever color of the rainbow with which she identifies," and thalia is horrified and storms out of the basement to go find annabeth so they can leave. will, who's drunk from whatever was in nico's water bottle, comes out of the bathroom after hitting his head, and his entire face is covered in blood. silena goes up to find a first aid kit in the kitchen and clarisse follows her, and they argue over who's done more for the other. they're about to go back downstairs when they hear thalia scream from outside - leo almost follows the scream, but he's holding a bloody rag from will hitting his head and goes to find somewhere to get rid of it.
outside, thalia has found annabeth dead on the bench and is desperately trying to stop the bleeding. silena goes back into the house to try to find the phones, but the phones are gone. thalia tries to say that annabeth needs help, but then they hear a scream from inside.
in the meantime, leo heard a scream from the bathroom and runs to find nico. he goes in the bathroom and finds nico's body in the shower, and screams. frank hears the scream and comes running, surprising leo - the lights are off and leo can't see, so he hits the intruder with the showerhead and frank falls to the ground. leo turns on the light and realizes who it is, but when frank won't get up, leo realizes he accidentally killed him. right then, silena, clarisse, thalia, and hazel come in and find leo with the dead bodies, and leo immediately pretends frank was already dead when he got there. they all go back down to the basement, but clarisse doesn't want the team to go viral again and convinces them all to blame will.
onto act 2!!!!!
will, in prison, laments how much his life FUCKING SUCKS NOW, but there's nothing he can do about it, even though he really doesn't think he killed nico, annabeth, and frank.
silena is holding a second practice at the beginning of second semester. thalia shows up, and then leo does, and he reveals he's on the team now! they see hazel, and when asked if she's okay, hazel says frank and nico were sleeping together and "got what they deserved." thalia tries to argue with her, but hazel won't hear a word about it. reyna shows up at the door - silena arranged a scholarship for her to transfer to goode and take nico's place. clarisse demands to know what she's doing here, and she explains that she took the scholarship because goode has an awesome science program and she's looking to go into something sciencey. silena comes out and welcomes all of them back into the house - thalia stops reyna and compliments her pride pin and they introduce themselves. clarisse and silena argue a little, but silena has resolved to put the murders behind them and move on.
thalia is upset that they're all just moving on like nico and annabeth never existed, especially when they all know will didn't kill anyone, and after fighting again with silena and clarisse, she storms out of the basement to call the police and try to get will out of prison. hazel hears frank's voice and follows thalia, and the two of them think about their lost loved ones and how hard it is to move on.
outside, leo comes to thalia and tells her that she can't go to the cops and admits to killing frank on accident, but swears he doesn't know who killed nico and annabeth. hazel overhears and is furious and physically attacks leo, and thalia jumps out of the way onto the bench. silena and clarisse come up, too, and the three of them try to separate hazel and leo. reyna watches and wonders if transferring to goode high is really worth it - the science program is nice, and she really doesn't miss her old school, but these kids are absolutely insane. she resolves to shut up and cheer and stay out of the other kids' way, and she can just get into the science program and keep her head down.
they all go back downstairs to get their things, but silena discovers the basement door is locked, and the wifi suddenly stops working (there's no cell service in the basement). thalia, clarisse, hazel, and leo fight over who killed nico and annabeth, while silena looks for a key and reyna questions how the hell she got herself into this situation. eventually, silena becomes agitated and reveals that she's the one who killed nico and annabeth, because they were bringing the team down. the others try to calm her down, but she pulls a knife on them. thalia tries to knock her out with a weight, but silena catches her and stabs her in the thigh and nearly kills her, saying thalia is so good but she's so fucking annoying, but leo grabs the weight and knocks her out. reyna helps thalia with the stab wound, leo and clarisse tie silena up, and hazel finds a landline and calls the police. silena says the police won't believe them, but reyna reveals that she recorded silena's entire confession on her phone, and silena is arrested.
an unspecified amount of time later, the team returns to the gym. leo, thalia, clarisse, and hazel all have community service for being accessories to the crime, clarisse is captain, will is out of prison and rejoined the team, and reyna and thalia have started dating. they resolve to all try to heal, even if it's hard, and they don't have a happy ending but it's a hopeful ending!!!!!
i might try and write this eventually? i have a long to-write list but i'm really attached to this one-

oh boy, did you get natalie dormer for an eight a.m.? wait no, that’s poppy bryant. i heard the thirty-five year old is a professor who gives a pretty tough lecture in law. she tries to be effervescent and incisive but on the stressful days, they are erratic and disputatious. when they get a chance to relax, catch them at the local bar listening to drops of jupiter by train.
poppy turning up to her 8am: hey kids, you ever had a wine hangover?
is holly holliday
or more hedonistic pepper potts
in every conceivable situation, she is the dark kermit
student: this class makes me wanna die
poppy: bitch me too tf
wins every argument with it’s the law, i know this, as a lawyer
the first daughter, born poppy marie bryant, was raised in all the security and wealth expected of a greenwich trust fund baby. attended gala’s, gallery openings, charity dinners and just about every other get together the upper class of connecticut’s most cultured could come up with. an environment she’s always been at ease in, poppy flourished and from a young age was very aware of just how far a few well placed connections could get you. names she stashed away for a later date, a time where she might cast some thought toward her future, consider anything beyond giggling behind champagne flutes with her sister or ill advised trysts in gallery coat rooms.
after years of having everything provided, all her problems solved for her, the first big decision of her life had the eldest bryant packing up all those gucci shoes and heading not far at all to new york to study architecture at columbia. not meant to be, the ever unpredictable student chopped and changed her major four times before truly finding a fit. after spending the entirety of her life soaking up the arts, and convinced she’d follow the footsteps of her parents, poppy bryant graduated top of her class in politics. the surprises kept on coming. she went on to do her j.d., passed the bar, got her l.l.m. and finally got her first job as an attorney.
years of hard work it may have been, but it didn’t slow her down one bit. stress had always rolled right off her, brushed off with an apathetic shrug and a healthy dose of gin. in between the many late nights and thousands of essays, poppy easily rose to the social queen too. her carefree ways and it’ll be fine tomorrow attitude won her plenty of friends and ensured she moved in plenty of the new york circles. and this, fortunately ( or unfortunately depending on how you chose to see it ), was how she met her future husband.
though she’d had partners in abundance, poppy fell hard and fell fast. deeply in love, she found herself saying yes to proposals and a big white wedding to boot. it was only after the honeymoon dust had settled, that the pair broached the subject of children. his enthusiasm for a baby was met with a firm no from her, and thus the first crack was formed. she was desparate to hold onto a blooming career, one that was only on it’s way up. she had plans, for her own firm, for fortunes of her own, for christmas’ in bahamas. not taking nine months off to return to her replacement taking her promotion, not nappies and bickering with in laws. arguments became daily, but their love was just as strong. foolishly, poppy had thought that would be enough to make it.
the pregnancy had come as a shock. always so careful, a surprise baby had been the last thing on her mind for the sudden sickness. and yet, her first thought hadn’t been to get rid of it. she’d been overjoyed. excited even. everything was different, they began to plan, they were going to make this work. but before the paint had time to dry on the nursery, it soon became apparent that it wasn’t meant to be. just shy off her second trimester, they were faced with the tragic truth that there would be no baby. so the clothes were thrown into storage and the nursery was rapidly converted back into the office. desks thrown up against walls where mocking giraffe stickers once were.
at thirty, poppy had been confronted with the tragic news that there would never be a baby. she’d laughed at it, laughed until she’d sobbed because, really, a hostile uterus they’d said. an environment that was supposed to be perfect, was instead something that had killed their child. and would take the life of any others they managed to conceive after it. news that broke her heart, was not shared with her husband. how could she tell the man that longed for children so much, that she couldn’t give them to him? that it was all her fault, that she’d failed in the one thing she was supposed to be able to do. she couldn’t, the thought was too painful, and she couldn’t keep that dream from him either. no, not even she was that selfish.
so when the time came that he suggest they try again ( they’d been so excited before, afterall ), rather than share what she knew, she told him she’d meant what she’d said before. she didn’t want kids, didn’t want to be some brainless soccer mom that handed over her career to raise some thankless life. argument after argument, and she lit the flame to them all. kept pushing until there was no where left to go, until she’d backed them into a corner with no other option left to them. the papers were signed, she moved out and that was that. years spent together, over after vicious negotiations.
returning to work after that should have been easy, she was good at shutting that part off and getting on with it. but after struggling on with it for three months, she was urged onto sabbatical. empty, and with nothing left to give, she disappeared for a year. went completely off the map as she slept her way through most of europe before returning to the states at thirty-three. in three years, she’d lost it all. husband, home, future. after it all, going back to work felt soulless to her. with no urge to get back to the rush of the city, it was poppy who followed her sister for once. followed her all the way to her new life in georgia where she accepted the offer for law professor. someone of her formidable experience had won the role easily enough.
it’s her second year teaching at riverbank and she’s now settling in. her classes have learned not to snigger at the name poppy on their timetable, and expect a gruelling lecture when she’s in the mood. she’s a pusher if she sees something in a student, and isn’t likely to let something drop until she’s satisfied with the results. with her firm pleading for her back, she’s no longer sure what her purpose is anymore. has she just been running for five years, or has she found a new place to belong? was this always to be her next step? to fill the emptiness her old life had left her with.
honestly, poppy is super fun
she’s literally a riot at parties
knows all the best anecdotes, always has incredible stories to tell, usually of her travels
thinks pink gin is the greatest invention of the 21st century
is pretty hedonistic but charitable af
donates to a lot of causes, has probably twelve benches and a fountain named after her by now
uses humour to cover up the fact that she’s highkey drifting
after such a rigorous lifestyle in new york, she’s found herself at thirty-five with really no idea what she’s supposed to be doing in life
mid life crisis 100%
chaotic good
could be slytherin, could be gryffindor, but is definitely reckless af
doesn’t matter how chaotic life is, she always looks a million dollars
even for the inevitable walk of shame every monday morning for her 8am
comes in hungover for most early classes
usually sticks on a powerpoint and kicks back with a litre of coffee
is really fucking charming, would flirt with a mop tbh
when she’s Not Suffering she actually plans some pretty tough lessons and expects you to keep up or fall behind
out of office hours are strict
try and catch her outside of them? she’s gonna straight up mariah carey you
i don’t know her
if you’re not turning up then she’s not about to chase you, just fail, not her problem, she’ll get paid either way
owns way too many black dresses
has not worn a flat shoe in twenty five years
will be your pal if you’re not boring
divorced, hot and ready to mingle
