i started revamping the bridgeview suburb of newcrest literally a year ago and i think i'm finally happy with where it's at :) there are 4 rentals on the midtown meadows lot, so with the other houses filled, the neighborhood always feels really active thanks to the walkbys. i also cleared out the entire park area and added a treehouse, a picnic area, and a better playground with the toddler playset and swings and stuff. one day i'd like to figure out how to pinpoint which spawners are responsible for the seasons specific items (skating rinks / leaf piles / water balloon buckets) so i can move them to be where i want them, but that's a problem for another time ig

You don’t have to complete aspirations or max out careers if you don’t want to, unless it’s otherwise specified in the generation’s rules!

Play with any lifespan you prefer.

Read one generation ahead to get all of the information you need!

Mods are allowed and encouraged; especially ones that make the game more realistic. I’ve linked a couple mods in some generations that can add to the gameplay! 

If you have the more traits in cas mod, pick whatever extra traits you think would fit your sim!

Rules for the generations under the cut ✿

GENERATION ONE ✿

You were raised in the city by strict parents who pushed you to be the best student in school. Despite your ambitious nature you hated the fact that you had no autonomy or free time. When you became a young adult you packed up your belongings, your pet and your limited funds and you moved to the countryside. Your cottage is rundown and outdated…it’s going to take a lot of work (and money) to make it a home. You quickly realize you might not actually be cut out for this life, but you are too stubborn and proud to give up and move back in with your parents.

Traits: Squeamish, Ambitious, High Maintenance

Aspiration: Country Caretaker OR Freelance Botanist

Career: Start with a part time job and/or odd jobs until your sim ages up into an adult, then settle into a full time job of your choice. To make additional money, you can also sell harvestables from your garden or your farm animals (if you want to go down that route!)

Starting Out: Start in Henford-on-Bagley with your pet in a small, rundown cottage with 2-3 bedrooms. You can use money cheats at this point, but remember: small rundown cottage…don’t use those extra funds for nice appliances!! When your house is done, set your funds to 450.

Rules: 

Your lot must have the ‘simple living’ lot trait

Reach level 5 in: Handiness, Cooking and Gardening

Befriend a few locals

Meet and fall in love with an outdoorsy sim with a large tight knit family 

Spend every holiday with your partner’s family, and have a solid relationship with most (if not all) of them

Have 2 kids

Take a vacation for every sim’s birthday (if you can’t afford it, throw a birthday party on a public lot instead)

Renovate the cottage over time (get new appliances, wallpaper/flooring, etc.)

Optional Rules:

Play with the ‘off the grid’ lot trait

Max out Handiness, Cooking and/or Gardening

Make the sim’s parents and make them have a negative relationship 

GENERATION TWO ✿

You grew up in a small, quiet town. After hearing about your parent’s childhood in the city, you were inspired to give it a try. You say goodbye to your loving family and set out for San Myshuno. You find an apartment and a part time job, then you get a few roommates to help with the bills. When you are faced with an accidental pregnancy, your roommates rally in support.

Traits: Loyal, Creative, Slob

Aspiration: City Native OR Painter Extraordinaire

Career: Max out the Retail part time job before quitting and selling paintings full time

Starting Out: Move into an apartment in San Myshuno with 2-3 roommates (you can use the roommate feature but I recommend actually having them in the household!)

Rules:

Max the painting skill

Have Game Night, or something similar, once a week with your roomies

Have an accidental pregnancy after a one night stand (if your sim can’t become pregnant and the other sim can, move the baby into your household when they’re born!)

Raise your kid as a single parent (with the help of your roomies)

Once your child becomes a teen, move out into your own place (it could be in San Myshuno or another world)

Marry as an elder

Optional Rules: 

As an elder, marry the sim you had a one night stand with (that ultimately resulted in the birth of your child)

Become famous (because of your paintings)

GENERATION THREE ✿

Just as the expression goes, it took a village to raise you. You were a wild, rebellious child with a love for athletics. Even though you were surrounded by love as a kid (not just from your biological family, but from your parent’s roommates) you always wanted to have siblings. You end up marrying one of your childhood best friends and you settle down in a quiet neighborhood.

Traits: Family Oriented, Hot Headed, Athletic

Aspiration: Big Happy Family

Career: Athletic 

Starting Out: Move into a house in a world of your choice with your partner.

Rules:

Max the parenting skill and the athletic skill

Have 4 children

Reach the summit of Mt. Komorebi at some point in your life

Be a hands-on parent: play with your kids, build them a treehouse, throw birthday parties, be as involved as possible in their lives

Go through rough patches with your spouse due to your anger issues

Eventually decide to get a divorce after trying to make it work (or if you have RPO, you can opt for separation instead)

You and your ex-spouse must live on the same lot and continue to raise your kids together

Sleep in your workout shed in the backyard

Optional Rules:

Remarry your ex-spouse

Reach level 5 of the handiness skill

GENERATION FOUR ✿

Although you and your siblings were loved by your parents, the living situation after their divorce was not ideal. Because of that, you vowed to never get married. You head off to university immediately after graduation and start on your path toward success.

Traits: Ambitious, Noncommittal, Genius

Aspiration: Fabulously Wealthy OR Academic

Career: Business OR Politics

Starting Out: Enroll in University and move into a dorm

Rules:

Max the research and debate skill, and the logic skill

Reach the top of your career

Get the best possible grades throughout your life

Have at least two romantic relationships at all times…you are never faithful to one sim

Have two kids with two different partners

(Hesitantly) become official with one of your flings and move in together

When your partner proposes, reject them and have them move out

Go on a post-breakup trip with your kids to Sulani

Rarely discipline your children. In fact, rarely interact with them

Optional Rules:

Never retire

Move at least three times

GENERATION FIVE ✿

Growing up, your parent was pretty distant and you never had a great relationship with them. They were always working, talking about work, or spending time with their significant others. One of your favorite memories of your childhood was your trip to Sulani. You and your sibling decide to move out together and live there permanently. It’s rough living in a new place with limited funds, but the two of you have some creative solutions.

Traits: Loyal, Bro, Kleptomaniac

Aspiration: Party Animal

Career: Criminal

Starting Out: Move into a small house in Sulani with your sibling. 

Rules: 

Max the charisma skill

Reach the top of your career

Earn money from the criminal career, stealing and pickpocketing 

Always maintain a close relationship with your sibling (who can also follow in your criminal footsteps, or work part time / odd jobs instead)

Throw parties regularly and pickpocket the whole time

Have a rivalry with another criminal that turns into love at some point 

Your sibling eventually moves out…and your partner moves in!

Have one child

Have a super tacky over the top wedding

 Max the mischief skill

(If you have this mod, you can pickpocket when your sim is younger! If you have Basemental you can also become a dealer to make money. If you have this mod, I recommend using the enemies to lovers interactions!)

Sep 30th, SBL post 5. Bit longer than usual, I'd suggest reading yesterdays posts first as well as today's if you're not caught up.

Time passed and Mal tried to make amends. With his signing bonus he brought us a new house in a flashier neighbourhood, making sure I was there when he put my name on the deed alongside his. If someone will buy your affection it's probably a Landgrabb.

I was sad to be moving away from Jessica, and Byron was upset Will wouldn’t just be across the road, but we managed. Jessica met her man in San Myshuno and was soon spending most weekends there. Will only went half the time, other times he had a sleepover with Byron or another of their friends.

Mal kept saying his behaviour hadn’t meant anything. We had built a life together. We had two kids, if we split up what would that mean for them? Honestly I didn't want to imagine spending nights apart from them, they were so young still. They needed me with them.

Apart from that night he’d only ever been committed to me. He'd been there for me when my parents kicked me out, and stuck up for me when his parents wanted me to get rid of Byron. As much as it was inconvenient I was loyal, I didn’t want to leave him. I loved him even as he'd fractured my heart. He told me he loved me multiple times a day, and convinced me I was the only one he had eyes for.

Eventually with time and affection, I forgave him, and agreed to leave it in the past. With his work he became more happy and attentive on his days off. Helping out without being asked, committing to date nights, reminding me why I fell in love with him. And when he was working he made a new habit of calling me on his lunch breaks to check in. He knew he'd stuffed up, he was trying to be better. Didn't everyone deserve a second chance?

Not-So-Berry (Taylor’s Version) 

I have loved Taylor Swift and the Sims for as long as I can remember so I thought that combining them only made sense! Here is my spin on Not-So-Berry but make it swiftie! A little side note before we get into it! These generations are not meant to be Taylor they are simply Traits and storylines that either fit the vibe of the corresponding albums or fit within the colour scheme i.e. Speak Now or the Purple gen is a nod to the I Can See You music video, and the traits are purple which matches the album cover! Also, I have no intention of taking credit for Not-So Berry, Lilsimsie and Alwayssimming are the original creators of the challenge and this is just my fun spin on it! Traits: Romanic, Self-Assured, Art Lover.

Rules: Finish Aspiration, Max Culinary Career, Max Knitting and cooking skills, Live in the countryside and own a goat… if you know you know. Have an on-again-off-again relationship with your children's other parent. 

We are Never Ever Getting Back Together: you guess some of your parent's paranoia rubbed off on you because you just cannot seem to settle down with your partner but you can't let them go either. You love cooking as it is the only time you feel a sense of calm in your crazy life along with Knitting. Oh and what's that noise?? Oh,  that crazy goat is screaming again! 

1989 (Light Blue)

Wonderland: You moved to the city to escape that screaming goat your parent had but once you got here you absolutely loved it… you could say you found a wonderland in the city! You’ve made a name for yourself on social media and it pays the bills too which i great. You never want to settle down and don’t understand all the fuss about it. If you’re not out with friends on the weekends you're playing video games online with them! You are living your best life surrounded by the city lights and close friendships! 

Reputation (Black) 

Aspiration: Public Enemy

Traits: Loner, Geek, Good.  

Likes: Colour: Black. Music: Pop + Hip Hop. 

Rules: Max aspiration, max criminal career, live on a secluded lot and only leave for work or aspiration tasks. Have a small group of close friends. 

Getaway Car: For some unknown reason the world has it out for you, so screw it, give them what they want. On the outside, you’re a cold-hearted criminal but only the real ones know it's all an act. On the inside, you’re sweet and caring and loyal to the ones you love and trust. The world calls you a monster so suit up and get the Getaway Car ready because there will be no explanation just reputation. 

Lover (Pink)

Aspiration: Soulmate 

Traits: Party Animal, Outgoing, insider. 

Likes: Colour: pink. Music: Pop.

August: Raised constantly around people you have decided to slow down a little and smell the roses. You love writing and your lifelong dream is to be a best-selling author. When you’re not writing you’re tending to your garden and enjoying the outdoors. Your favourite time of year is august because that's when your favourite plants bloom.

Cowboy Like Me: you appreciate nature and the simple life from growing up in a cottage with your parents and being close to nature. You appreciate taking care of animals and ever since you can remember you loved riding horses. You hope to have so many medals from riding that one day you won't know where to put them all. When convincing your partner to run the ranch with you you said “Buckle up and become a Cowboy like Me.”

Bejewelled: after two generations of hiding away and living a simple life you have decided you can’t take it anymore. You are Bejeweled and the whole world must know! You hope to be famous and live next door to the biggest names in Hollywood... Simmywood? Anyway, no more of this quiet cottagecore ranch life we’re moving to a city and going out with a bang! Nice!

i wanted to create a legacy challenge that focusses on the parent-child relationship and how that impacts their adult life. (i know growing together would be the perfect pack for this challenge, but i can't afford it rip)

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 21 (Granny Plantsim?!)

"You're really pregnant? How many months? How big is the baby right now?" Holly took in her sister's news during a quick visit to see her in Brindleton Bay.

"Two months, and not very big. About the size of a plum, I think."

"Wow! I can't believe I'm going to be an auntie! What are you and Malcolm going to do about it?"

"I'm going to raise the baby alone, actually. I haven't told him yet."

Holly's eyes bulged. "Are you sure you know what you're getting into? Have you talked to Mom and Dad?"

Heather shook her head. "I haven't been home to Henford in a while and I don't want to tell them this news over the phone."

Less than an hour after Holly left to return to San Myshuno, Heather's mother called. "Holly tells me we need to have you over for dinner tonight."

Heather rolled her eyes and laughed. "Of course she did. What are you cooking?"

When Heather arrived in Henford, she was shocked to see her mother with leafy hair and green skin. A tree with a thick trunk and feathery lilac leaves stood in the yard next to their cowplant skeleton, and Neal glanced at his green-haired wife with a loving shake of his head. "You actually did it!" Heather cried. Daisy had grown a portal to an enchanted forest with magic beans, plucked a forbidden fruit, and eaten it whole. "Does it feel weird only needing the sun to refill your hunger?"

"It's the strangest sensation I've ever experienced - even stranger than the wobbled gravity field past Sixam when I went to space. The researcher in me can't wait to write all about it, but I miss your Dad's veggie burgers already."

"How long until the effects of the fruit wear off?"

"A few months. Sometimes half a year. I'll be back to my old self by River and Cassandra's wedding."

"And by the time you'll be a grandmother, hopefully."

Her mother's temporarily green eyes bulged. "You're pregnant?" she said, unsure whether to be elated or concerned. "Is Malcolm the father?"

Heather nodded. "He is. But I've decided to raise the baby alone."

"Are you sure? Maybe I should move in with you to help out," mused Daisy.

"My house is too small for you, me, the cats, and a baby!"

"It's just that your father and I always had each other when you kids were small. We never wanted you to struggle."

"I'll be fine, Mom. I'm like you: When I set my mind to something, I'll see it through," Heather said. "I've thought hard about this since I found out. I know it won't be easy. But I'm ready to do this. I'm ready to be a mom and run my clinic, and I know you'll all be a phone call away if I'm ever in over my head."

With her assurance, her family offered warm congratulations to Heather's life-changing news.

In San Myshuno, Malcolm fretted over what to do for months. He knew his mother expected grandchildren and he wanted children someday, but he was only 25. He didn’t want one right now, and he’d broken things off with Heather, in part, because they’d come from such different worlds and had such different ideas about family. But even after Everett returned to Oasis Springs, Malcolm didn’t hear from Heather, so he took advantage of her silence to put off dealing with his major problem until Heather was only a trimester away from delivery.

But then his mother returned from work one evening and called her son into the kitchen. "I heard quite the piece of gossip at work today. Apparently the owner of Brindleton Pawspital will need family leave soon. How long have you known?"

Malcolm's stomach twisted, and Nancy could tell from his dropped shoulders he'd been lying to her.

"I know that girl is carrying my grandchild and I'll prove it with every resource at my disposal if need be. Is her cat-infested home even safe for a child?"

"Mom, let me deal with it."

"Are you actually going to deal with it, Malcolm? Because if you want to keep sitting on your hands-"

(Velocity) Ivy Peters- Things were alwaysv rocky netween Ivy and her mother. Ivy's mother held incredibly high standards for Ivy that were often unreachable. When Ivy was in college, Conner proposed the idea of starting a band to Ivy. Ivy had been a pianist prodigy since a young age, and she had always wanted to be in a band. So despite her mothers strict expectations of her, she switched majors and became the bands first member.

(Velocity) Lee Fritz - Lee Fritz was the last man you'd expect to see in an indie-punk band. Lee grew up on the countryside with his two dads, Cohen and Nicholaus Fritz. He was a model student and a good kid who liked horses and fishing. However, when he met Ivy and Conner in highschool, something somehow swayed him and he ended up being the bassist.

Cortez Callaway - After being temporarily cut off from the family will, Cortez was forced to live among the "poor" and finally get a real job. This snobby bastard is trying his hardest to learn how to be a bit nicer but needless to say, it's not really working.

Clara Kerns - Clara recently broke up and moved out of her toxic ex-boyfriend's house after 2 long years.

Fun Fact: All of the members in Velocity are actually sims from my sims 3 generations gameplay i'm currently doing! I may post screenshots later on since I love the 4 of them so much (so much so I had to transfer them to my sims 4 save lol.) They are from my University Life + Late Night generation and they currently live in the beautiful world of Barcelona.

Wait, Hear Me Out

Rosie had been thinking over something for a long time. It had started as something she'd never consider. At least, had never considered. But once it was there, she had to consider it. She was always a girl who thought things through before doing them. Mostly. She weighed the pros and cons and decided to pitch the idea to Billie.

She met Billie at their favorite karaoke bar in San Myshuno. Billie and her father had just finished some shopping in the neighborhood. Penny gave him a friendly greeting before he took off. He'd always been sort of aloof.

Billie had a rum and coke already ordered for Rosie by the time she made it inside.

"What's up, Roz?" Billie said. "You said you wanted to talk in person?"

"Yes. You're going to think I'm crazy."

"It's not that far of a drive for you." Billie sipped.

"Okay, uncalled for. Come on, let's get one of the rooms before the contest."

"Okay, hear me out," Rosie said. "What if we were roommates?"

"Where?"

"Blair said she and Mom would be happy to build me a house. We could build it right next to my aunt B's house because, if anything, she'll encourage any shenanigans we might have without telling mom."

"Babysitter next door?" Billie made a face. "I don't know about that."

"Think less babysitter, more sober driver."

"Just so we're like, so freaken clear, you want me to move out of this city to live in the middle of nowhere with you?"

"Yes," Rosie said with full confidence that Billie would fold.

"The country. You want me to move to the country."

"Okay, let's be a little less dramatic, it's not like we have chickens or cows."

Billie looked at her over the top of her glasses. "Could we, though? If we wanted?"

Rosie gave her a very confused face. "I mean, yeah, but you are not going to be cleaning a barn and don't lie to me like you would."

"Naw, you're right, that's gross."

"Look, you keep talking about wanting to get out from your parents. Harper Valley is a great place to do just that. Plus, who'd be a better landlady than me?"

Billie sighed and was silent for a few seconds. Eventually she slapped her knees and said "screw it, yes. Let's do it."

"Yessss!" Rosie said. "You have time, we've got to build the place first."

The announcement that the karaoke contest was starting and Rosie got up for her spot.

The old house in Willow Creek is too small and too full of memories of Alex, so Don agrees to move to Newcrest with Cora and Zane. Zane has also sold his apartment in San Myshuno.

Cora is working late tonight, but Zane appreciates the extra bonding time with Daniel.

When it’s time for bed, Daniel insists on having grandpa Don read him a story.

Grandpa Don always does the best voices.

A few weeks later, Don is up late, enjoying the silence, and a cup of tea in his “world best grandpa” mug.

His thoughts are disturbed by the sound of footsteps on the stairs, and Zane appears.

“You still up? Mind if I join?”

“Sure, go ahead. Can’t sleep?”

“No, I’ve been tossing and turning for over an hour. I guess I’m a bit nervous about tomorrow.”

“What’s the succes rate for each IVF treatment? Something like 50%, right?”

“Something like that. And I shouldn’t be nervous, Cora is the one having the procedure. And we won’t even know if it has worked for weeks. It just feels… big, you know?”

“Zane, it’s understandable that you’re nervous. You never expected to have kids, right? And I know you love Daniel, but this will still be different.”

“How did you do it, Don? It wasn’t until Cora told me that I even realised that Brielle wasn’t your daughter. To me, you always seemed to be her dad. I don’t want Daniel to feel left out when we have another baby.”

“You’ll do fine. Honestly, what I did was simply deciding that Brie was my daughter. Sure, Johnny’s genetics were involved, and he did visit and spend time with her, but a child can have more than one dad, right?”

“From what I’ve seen, you already treat Daniel like he’s yours. And you don’t even have some guy with his genetics dropping by constantly to remind you.”

“I guess you’re right, but… Daniel is literally blue. It’s not like I can forget he’s not mine.”

“Zane, Brie literally has her father’s face. I was constantly reminded. The point is, it doesn’t matter. I was also Brie’s father. I never treated the girls differently.”

“You’re right. I’m sure it’ll be fine. Just promise to hit me over the head if I ever neglect Daniel.”

“Zane, you know I don’t hit people.”

“I know, I was joking. But honestly. I kinda wish you’d punched my dad back at the wedding.”

“Yeah, that was a mess. I’m sorry about all the drama.”

“You’re sorry? My dad should be sorry. That reminds me, Isa actually asked me to apologise to you. I think she’s too embarrassed to contact you directly.”

“I hope she laid off the champagne after I left.”

“Actually, our friend Conor ended up taking her home. I think they’re still seeing each other.”

“Anyway, thanks for talking me through this, Don. I better try to get some sleep so I can be there for Cora tomorrow.”

3.45 Checking in

When I got home, Dad was standing near the door as if he arrived recently as well. He had on a different outfit from the one he left in, so I asked if they gave them new uniforms. He said he was finally able to finish that project he'd been working on and got a promotion! They moved him to the civil planning team, gave him a fabricator for the house, and a nice bonus.

"That's what's up! Congrats, Dad!"

"Thanks. It'll be nice to have a little extra money when I retire now.

I knew if I said what I wanted to say, he would shut me down, but I had to try.

"You know... I've made a little more than §3,000 from my classes. And you know Mama gave me some money. I can help out now."

"I know, and I appreciate the thought. Keep your money. You're gonna need it when you leave here."

"Okay, but if you change your mind..."

"I won't."

And that was that.

The next morning, I went to the spa as per usual and started a guided meditation. Mama sent me a text saying she missed me and wanted me to have a great day.

She could be a lot sometimes, but I loved her check-ins. It was a kind reminder that there was someone out there who loved me no matter what.

Dereck Jang was in the class. I hadn't seen him since I was in high school, so I asked how he'd heard about classes at this spa, especially because he was still in San Myshuno. He said he'd seen me all over Social Bunny talking about yoga and these classes and decided to come check me out.

Chi Chi was also in attendance and hugged me, asking how I was doing. She also invited us to Harvestfest at their house tomorrow if we didn't have plans. I was pretty sure we were free, seeing as I didn't make plans and Dad barely had a social life. I accepted her invitation and asked if I could bring a dish since he was a vegetarian.

"Of course! I'm sure Eleanor wouldn't mind."

Going to her house meant seeing Karmine again. I'd better take stock of my life and make sure I have nothing to hide and prepare for another interrogation, heh.

Devin's Dude Ranch: Episode Two (Part Two)

*as Devin reenters the house, she is immediately approached by Albert*

Albert: "Devin, hi. I'm so glad I caught you. How's your evening treating you?"

*Devin smiles widely*

Devin: "It's been good. And yours?"

*Albert flashes a boyish grin*

Albert: "Well. it's better now that I'm talking to you. Hey, do you want to go somewhere to chat?"

Devin: "I thought you'd never ask."

*the next shot shows Albert and Devin on the couch on the back deck. they're sitting with a few inches between them.*

Albert: "Why don't you move a little closer?"

*She looks at him warily, but in a playful way, before settling against him*

Devin: "Alright, but no funny business."

Albert: "Wouldn't dream of it."

Devin: "This is probably better for me anyway. so I don't have to look directly at your face."

*Albert chokes out a laugh*

Albert (confused, but lighthearted): "What do you mean?"

Devin: "Well, Albert. Frankly, you're just too damn beautiful. When I look at you, sometimes my brain just reboots."

*Albert laughs again*

Albert: "That's a new one on me. I apologize for my face. Do you want me to get a paper bag or something?"

*Albert's eyes shine at Devin*

*Devin bites her lower lip and shakes her head, on the edge of laughter*

Devin: "It might help, actually, but...maybe we should just treat it like like immersion therapy. The more I'm around you, the more I'll get used to it, that kind of thing."

Albert: "Alright, but I just want to make sure you know that I will do whatever it takes to make this work."

Devin: "Including wearing a paper bag for the rest of your life?"

Albert: "Exactly."

Devin: "This was a very helpful conversation, thank you."

Albert: "Anytime."

*they make eye contact and instantly break out into smiles*

Albert: "So tell me about you. What got you into training horses?"

Devin: "In short, my Dad. The long version is, my family has been training horses at least since my great-great-great grandfather. It's in my genes, I guess you can say. I've been doing it literally my entire life."

Albert: "That's amazing. And is this your family's ranch?"

*Devin looks steely eyed for a moment and clears her throat*

Devin: "Uh, no. It's not. This one is all mine."

Albert: "Do you not want to talk about it?"

*A weak smile flickers across Devin's face before disappearing*

Devin: "It's a bit of a touchy subject," *she sighs before continuing* "But, like I said, I've spent my entire life training horses, working for my Dad. He got sick a couple of years ago. Lung cancer. But, instead of leaving me the family ranch, who it should have gone to by all rights, it was left to his brother instead. He ranch, the business, all of it. When I confronted both of them about it, they told me a woman had no business training horses or running a business 'on her own.' My Dad died six months later and my uncle, well, he has everything except the monetary inheritance I was left, which I invested into this ranch."

*Albert exhales*

Albert: "That is seriously *bleep*ed up. I'm so sorry that happened to you. And to be treated that callously by your own family .... unimaginable."

Devin: "It was honestly the worst betrayal I have ever known in my entire life. It really is true what they say about people's true colors coming out when someone dies. But, enough about me. Tell me something about you."

Albert: "I would much rather talk about you, but if you insist..."

Devin: "I do."

Albert: "Well, I'm a chef. I used to own a restaurant in San Myshuno, but I hated the administrative side of it and missed cooking. So, I sold it and went back to the kitchen, and honestly, I couldn't be happier with my career re-pivot."

Devin: "Oh, that's amazing. What's your favorite thing to cook?"

*Albert ponders for a moment*

Albert: "I'd have to go back to basics; a good grilled cheese can be a work of art."

Devin: "Aahhh. I was not expecting that answer. I figured it'd be something more gourmet."

*Albert chuckles*

Albert: "Clearly you have some things to learn about me."

Devin: "What an exciting prospect."

Albert: "What about you? What's your favorite meal to cook?"

Devin: "Oh that one's easy. Both to cook and eat; frank and beans."

*Albert throws his head back, covers his face with his hand, and laughs*

Albert: "Wwwhhattt?"

*Devin is now also laughing*

Devin: "You're not the only one that's full of surprises."

Albert: "That is such a cowgirl answer. I love it."

Devin: "I grew up on it! It's like, a childhood comfort food. For most kids it's mac and cheese. For me was it's frank and beans."

Albert: "As long as I can sleep downstairs on frank and beans night."

Devin: "Why? You'll be eating them, too. We'll both be fartin' up a storm."

*Albert bursts out in a loud chorus of laughter*

Albert: "Oh my god, this is the sexiest conversation I've ever had."

Devin: "Hey, this is real talk. This is what you get to look forward if you want to be in a relationship with me."

Albert: "Trust me, I'm looking forward to it so much."

*suddenly Milo appears amidst the pair's laughter. it slowly dies down as they realize he's standing there*

Milo: "Hey, guys. I'm sorry to interrupt. I was just wondering if I could talk to Devin when you're done?"

Devin (who seems a bit caught off-guard): "Yeah, Milo, sure. Just give me a minute, okay?"

Milo: "Yeah, sure. Thank you. And sorry, again."

*Milo walks off*

*Albert sighs with disappointment*

Albert: "I guess it's too early get to keep you all to myself."

Devin: "That's what they tell me."

Albert: "Well then, you go do your thing. I'm going to get a drink."

*Albert and Devin get to their feet*

Devin: "I enjoyed our chat."

*the two enter into an embrace*

Albert: "Me too."

*he cradles her head and kisses her on the forehead*

*As they separate and Devin walks away, she's smiling and blushing. Albert watches her walk away for a few moments before heading inside*

Albert (in diary room): "Just half an hour with this girl and I'm hooked. She's so easy to talk to. I didn't want our time to end. It was hard to let her go. And there's definitely chemistry there, and a connection forming. I hope she feels it, too. 'Cause, man. I can't wait to see her again."

*Looks directly into the camera as a lopsided, boyish smile spreads across his face*

Devin (in diary room): "Albert," *folds her arms at her waist and smiles to herself* "Yeah, there's something about him. I definitely feel the chemistry. I like being around him. It's comfortable. I do have this nagging worry at the back of my mind though...with him being a city boy, I'm not sure if he's really down for the ranch life, you know?"

*camera cuts to Milo waiting for Devin. he looks pensive. Devin is approaching him from behind*

Devin: "Hey there."

*Milo turns see Devin approach. His eyes instantly light up and a warm smile spreads across his face*

Milo: "Hi."

Milo: "How are you? You're still okay from...earlier?"

*Devin offers a reassuring smile*

Devin: "I'm okay. I've been training horses my entire life and have had worse falls than that, trust me."

Milo: "Again, I am so sorry. I don't know what I was thinking trying to pull that off."

Devin: "You were thinking you wanted to make a grand entrance."

*Milo glances at his feet, rubs the back of his neck and reluctantly nods*

Devin: "That's alright, man. That's what tonight was all about, I suppose. But, we're past that now, so it's cool for us to move just on. You've learned from your mistake. And I've learned to dodge you if I see you running my way."

*Milo and Devin both share a short chuckle, before he shyly nods in agreement.*

Devin: "So tell me something else about you, besides the fact you're an accident prone cutie."

*Milo looks up at her startled and then tries to mask it, but only manages to blush*

Milo: "Me? I, uh, I'm a musician. Nothing big, yet. Still tryin' to make it, I guess. I still work a day job and all."

Devin: "I love that. What instrument?"

Milo: "Guitar. And I sing. I write my own music too."

Devin: "Wow. You're a triple threat. I really want to learn how to play guitar. I've just never really found the time."

*Milo's eyes light up*

Milo: "I'd love to teach you!"

*Devin smiles up him*

Devin: "I'd really like that. As long as you promise to be patient with me."

Milo (his voice soft and sincere): "Always."

*the pair stand in silence for a moment, locked in eye contact, smiling at each other before Devin speaks again*

Devin: "So, what do you do for your day job, then?"

*glances down at his feet and begins absentmindedly kicking at the ground*

Milo: "Well, that is less glamorous, truth be told. I work at a burger joint."

Devin: "Nice. Do you like it?"

Milo: "It's not my dream, but it's not bad."

Devin: "Whatever pays the bills, am I right?"

*Milo looks relieved and nods as a smile plays at the edges of his mouth*

Milo: "What about you? How'd you get into making nectar?"

Devin: "Oh, that! I took a local class here in Chestnut Ridge not too longer after I moved here, just a sort of for fun/self-improvement type of thing. Turned out I really enjoyed it and had a knack for it. I decided to use it as a way to pay for the horses until I got my first few trained up and sold, but man, the business just really took off! Now most people know me for Echo Valley Nectar and not the horses, which is exactly the opposite of why I got into it."

*Devin grasps her head for dramatic effect and laughs*

Milo: "Fate is crazy."

Devin: "You can say that again."

*her words are followed by another void of silence as the two steal glances at each other*

Devin: "So, what do you hope fate has in store for you?"

*Milo's eyes search her face as he considers his answer*

Milo: "I think you know one thing I'm hoping for," *he glances away and smiles down at the ground again, clearly embarrassed by his forwardness* "Besides my person to grow old with, a good dog, a successful music career, to see the world, and one day a small family. A lifetime supply of tacos would be nice too."

*Devin can't resist smiling and bites her lower lip in an attempt to suppress it*

Devin: "That all sounds amazing. Especially the lifetime supply of tacos part."

*Milo's laugh rings out. after it subsides he says:*

Milo: "Your turn."

Devin: "Also, my person. Also, a small family one day. Also, to see the world. And I guess just a lifetime of successful horse-training. That's really all that's left that I'm really want to spend my life doing."

Milo: "Well, it sounds like our ideal futures match-up pretty well.*

*the two stand in silence again, smiling at each other*

*Devin begins to shiver and glances over her shoulder back toward the house*

Devin: "It is getting cold out here. Is it okay with you if I head back inside?"

*Milo shoves his hands into his pockets. he looks disappointed, but nods.*

Milo: "Of course, yeah. Go warm up."

Devin: "Thank you, sweet Milo."

*they hug*

Devin: "Oh my Watcher, you're so warm."

*Milo chuckles*

Milo: "I've been told I run hot."

*Devin holds on a few moments longer*

*Milo grins to himself in the extended embrace. he is blushing*

Devin: "Mmm. That's nice," *she finally pulls away* "I enjoyed spending time with you. And I'm looking forward to more. Soon."

Milo: "The feeling is very mutual."

Milo, in diary room: "Devin's incredible. She's so kind and warm. I haven't met any other girls like her. And we our vision of the future matches so well that maybe this is fate. Maybe she is the one. Watcher, I hope so."

Devin, in diary room: "Milo strikes me as being a little bit shy. Or maybe he's still in his head from earlier tonight, I don't know. It's making building a connection a little hard. But, I definitely feel like there could be something there. He's an incredibly sweet guy. I can see myself really liking him, but we just have to keep working on our connection to see."

I guess you really do have to leave the house to meet people...

Today, she was going to enjoy herself—her weekend. She remembered seeing a thrift store with a café in the next town over. A budget-friendly shopping spree? Yes, please, Raz thought excitedly as she headed out the door.

She hurried into the car, blasting her favorite songs on repeat and singing along loudly. Who didn’t love a little pump-up mix moment? About 15 minutes later, Raz parked and walked into the thrift store, Thrifttea. She grabbed a raspberry boba tea and started browsing the racks. She was determined to find something cute today.

She sipped her boba while going through the first few racks. Nothing stood out yet, but she wasn’t worried. She had a feeling a good find was coming. Moving to the other side of the store, she heard a voice behind her.

“I love your outfit! I have the same top, but in black. Did you get it from Bullet?”

Surprised, Raz turned and smiled. “Yeah! I just got it—the set, actually.” She motioned to her matching skirt and continued, “I’m a sucker for a matching set. Plus, I saw Yeliah from Kept Woman wearing something similar, so I had to. And less thinking,” Raz laughed softly, “gotta love an automatic outfit.”

The woman’s beautiful husky voice responded through giggles, “An automatic outfit—I love that. I could use something like that. I always make such a mess putting together outfits, littering my room with every piece of clothing I own.” She smiled and added, “I’m Elena, by the way.”

Raz smiled back. “Elena, that’s a pretty name. I’m Raz.”

“Thank you, it’s a family name,” Elena replied with a shrug and a smile. “Nice to meet you, Raz.”

“You too,” Raz said, smiling.

“So, great taste in clothes and music? I love Kept Woman. I got to see them on their last tour, Why Is This. Were you there too?” Elena asked.

“Ugh, I wish! I’m new to the area, and I would’ve killed to see them live. You’re so lucky!” Raz gushed.

“A crime! I hope they tour again so you can catch them. Yeliah is such a powerhouse,” Elena said.

“Fingers crossed,” Raz giggled and added, “Do you know of any other good shows coming up soon?”

Elena paused for a second, thinking, then excitedly replied, “Actually, tonight at my work, DJ Free Fears is playing. I’ve seen him a few times in San Myshuno—you should totally come! I can even get you in for free.”

“Oh my god, I would love that! Thank you so much!” Raz continued eagerly, “I can totally pay for my ticket though—”

Before she could finish, Elena cut her off. “No way! I get free tickets to events. It’s no big deal, I promise. Plus, you seem cool, Raz. I want to get to know you better.”

Raz felt her smile grow, her cheeks flushing. “At least let me buy you a boba. What flavor do you want?”

Elena grinned and laughed. “I’ll take a black milk tea.”

Raz beamed as she made her way over to the counter. “Perfect.”

Raz ordered Elena’s tea, and the two found a table to sit and chat. The conversation flowed easily, and they quickly discovered how much they had in common. They both loved the same music, studied business in college, and hadn’t finished their degrees. The similarities just kept coming. It was nice, Raz thought, to have someone to talk to like this. She really liked Elena—she was witty, kind, and easy to talk to. Raz hoped this friendship would stick.

Hours passed without them realizing, and before they left the shop, Elena made sure they exchanged numbers. As they stepped outside, Elena quickly typed something on her phone.

“Okay, I just sent you my work address. It’s a club over in Windenburg. I’ll be working, so I’ll have to do bottle service when people order, but I should have time to hang out too!” Elena looked up at Raz with a smile. “Text me if you need anything!”

Raz’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “I can’t wait! Thank you so much again, Elena. Meeting you feels like serendipity.”

Elena smiled warmly and pulled Raz in for a hug. “I agree.” As she started walking toward her car, she called over her shoulder with a goofy grin, “Get ready to party, girly!” mimicking drinking from an invisible bottle.

Raz laughed enthusiastically. “I’ll see you later!” she called after her, still smiling.

So excited to be back with this series. Episodes 3-5 are going to be a bit shorter than usual, but only because I'm in the process of planning a huge slate of parties, plot-changing events, etc. for summer break. Can't wait to share what I've cooked up with you! No additional parts to this episode, so I'll be back with episode 4 as soon as I finish editing my screenshots.

Episode 3: Suddenly Summer

Scene 1 - 28 Windslar

Irving (narrating a montage of the Brookestone-Walker household enjoying the first few days of summer): I hate summer. Okay, maybe that’s a little strong.

I like that, instead of pacing around in the house because rainstorms have flooded her usual trails, Chloe can go for her morning runs. I like that everyone in the house seems to be happier than in the spring, when the six of us first moved in.

(Cut to a political protest in San Myshuno)

Miki Ojo: What do we want?

Yuki Kuma: A living wage!

Miki: When do we want it?

Josh: Now!

(Cut back to Wes and Morgan making out in her apartment building)

Irving: I like that Josh and Wes have found actual hobbies instead of fighting about who gets to use the household computer (it’s mine). Although I’m not sure you can call what Wes gets up to a “hobby”. (He sneaks into the house at 1AM smelling like weed and cat dander.)

But aside from the awful heat—who knew Germany could get as hot as Willow Creek?—and prom fever at school, summer means I can’t keep avoiding my biggest irritation: Dr. Crêpes.

Scene 2 - Willow Creek Library

Irving: I don’t even know why I have to be here. I’m doing fine in school. Principal Prescott says I’m a shoo-in for valedictorian next year.

Dr. Crêpes: That’s great, Lindsey!

Irving: Irving. Everyone calls me that.

Dr. Crêpes: Right. Irving. (coughs) Child services recommended that I talk to you weekly to make sure you’re settling in well at your foster home. Now that school’s about to let out, it’s important that you receive all the help you need to remain your best self in the summer.

Irving: What if I don’t need any help?

Dr. Crêpes: Well—

Irving: No, seriously. I was told after my diagnosis that nothing had to change. That I’m fine just the way I am. That I get to define what autism means to me.

Dr. Crêpes: That’s absolutely true, Irving. Don’t get me wrong—I’m not here to upend your life. Think of me as a listening ear for whenever life stresses you out.

Irving (unconvinced): …

Dr. Crêpes: Unless you’re one of the lucky people who never get stressed out, in which case I totally envy you.

Irving: I did not say that.

Dr. Crêpes: Well, then, I’d love to hear anything you’re willing to share.

Irving: You promise not to tell anyone? Not even Audreyanna or Evelyn?

Dr. Crêpes: Therapist’s promise.

Scene 3 - Magnolia Park, Willow Creek

Irving: Fine. Therapy wasn’t all that bad. And neither was the picnic our foster moms threw to celebrate the beginning of summer. I was surprised to see how many friends the other foster kids invited. I sure didn’t have anyone to invite. Not that I minded.

Cassandra (introducing Matt to Irving and Josh): Hey, Irving, come say hi to Matt. He says you’re in the same computer club.

Irving (cloudgazing): No, thanks. I’m trying to find video game characters in the clouds.

Joy (walking up to them): Aren’t you that guy who wrote that political op-ed in the school paper last week?

Josh: Am I?

Joy: Of course you are. I’m never wrong about these things. Josh, right?

Josh: Maybe. And you are...?

Joy: Joy. Chloe invited me. Your foster moms seem cool.

Josh: I’ll pass along the compliment. Didn’t think anyone actually read the paper. You into politics?

Joy: Very. I like to keep on top of things.

Josh: Well, Joy, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Joy (smirking): Spare me. I hated your take.

Smith-Persepolis

Everly Smith (59) - Anuris Persepolis by @axiisims (57) - Carol (27)

A child of an alien hybrid and a spellcaster of the old ways? You could think that Everly would grow up hidden in a secret hut somewhere, but no - her parents Johnny and Ophelia refused to hide.

They passed away a few years ago, but not before seeing Everly wed Anuris - party animal turned backyard barbecuer - and have a daughter, Carol.

Now, Everly and Anuris are enjoying life in Everly's beloved Oasis Springs and hoping to see their daughter find her path in life too.

Everly Smith

Everly has learned to hide her green skin.

Oh, she knows what she is, and she knows her family history. She knows about Pollination Technician #9 (her paternal grandfather) and her grandmother Jenny. She knows her mother's deadly aunt.

She knows how they decided to leave, after Ophelia had discovered that some weirdos were keeping her cousin in a lab. And that her aunt had let them...

And so, her mother and father took the long trek through what was then deserted land (now Strangerville) through Del Sol Valley and finally ended up her in Oasis Springs. How they hid, initially, but decided to reach out to Everly's aunt Jill and tell her they were alive.

So many had died.

Yet Everly's parents had always enjoyed life. And they taught her about their alien background, before aliens were more known. And she was taught the mysteries of her mother's ancestors.

Now, she is teaching her spellcasting daughter the same things, and keeping their story alive.

Anuris Persepolis

Some might joke that Anuris, a party prince from san Myshuno, had been bewitched by Everly. Maybe that was so. Maybe it was just the fact that she was the right woman for him. Funny, smart - and yes, she could do magic.

But he had learned that it was less about waving a wand and cleaning the house, and more about connecting with nature. And do some pranks. He loved that about her.

Otherwise, Anuris enjoys inviting the neighbors over for good barbecue. Especially Brandi and her son Beau. That kid needs to get out more.

Carol Smith-Persepolis

Yes yes, so apparently she had alien ancestors and spellcasters too, but Carol's main focus right now was more about being out with her friends or working at the local restaurant. She loves her mum and dad, but at the age of 27 she is more keen on moving out (even if the house is big) and figure out if the life as a (future) chef really suits her.

She also wonders if dad has invited Brandi and Beau over tonight? He didn't answer her text yesterday and well, she kind of wants him too...

Malaya had made a doctor’s appointment for that coming Saturday to determine if she was pregnant. In the meantime, she tries not to dwell on it, and spends time with her girlfriend Casey, both of them having completed their finals and turned in the last papers and projects. They hang out by the family’s pool, and goof around in the water before Malaya paints for fun and Casey chats with her. “You look beautiful, Mal.” Casey says softly, and Malaya blushes. “Thanks Case, you too.” She says. "I just want you to know I respect whichever choice you make, but if you do keep the baby I want to raise them with you and maybe not now but eventually move into our own place and go from there." Casey says, and Malaya smiles, blinking back tears again. "I'd like that, Case. And yeah, I'm so unsure right now, but I'm so glad I have my moms, and Fin, and you." She says, and Casey smiles.

Malaya actually met Casey a few months ago during a group hangout and Malaya hadn’t been sure if Casey was the one for her at first. Sure, she thought Casey was gorgeous and liked talking with her, and they’d even gone to Newcrest Children’s Dance Academy as kids around the same time, with Malaya doing ballet and Casey having done ballroom dancing, but they were different. Malaya was so focused on becoming a principal dancer at her favorite ballet school, and working on her skills and improving her dancing. Casey was more chill and laid back and go with the flow, even by choosing a random major for college and taking classes to learn and have fun, which Malaya couldn’t figure out at first. But now, Malaya likes their relationship, and she feels like they balance each other out well. They're even attending Foxbury together from home, with Casey taking two courses online and one in person and Malaya commuting by bus to the campus three days and having two days free. Since Casey's in-person class is on Fridays, she usually comes to Malaya's house and stays Thursday afternoon to Sunday morning and heads back home to her dads apartment in San Myshuno for the other part of the week. It works well so they see each other a lot but also have some space.

Gen 1 Sul Sul Mag #01: Lee and June

An unfinished knitting project sits atop the fireplace. Lee says it inspires him, "I hope I never run out of projects". The project in question was not his, but his late mother's, who passed from old age a few days ago. The first week of spring came with the loss of both his parents, but also, ironically, with the news that a baby was on the way.

Lee Prince started his Young Adult life by quitting his fast food job, that same day he got a job as an assistant dishwasher at a fancy restaurant in Magnolia Promenade. His whole life has been like this: impulsive decisions with the determination to follow through when it doesn't pan out like he expected. He got his first job flipping burgers because he wanted to buy cigarettes with his own money, that same week his uncle was diagnosed with throat cancer. So he quit smoking, but not his job.

June comes out of a different door every two minutes carrying boxes to the empty garage. When Lee tells her to take a rest, for the baby's sake she just laughs. "And let you organize this junk?" Once she leaves, Lee confesses that she's right, half the time he can't find anything he needs because he's put it away in a different room altogether.

When June comes back, Lee offers us a glass of a surprisingly delicious lemonade. He's been studying mixology in his free time in order to get a better job at his restaurant. And he's going to need it: his bills are about four times what he's become used to. That's because the house they're moving into is his parents' old home, a duplex with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus a large garage and basement that used to house a car that has since been sold to pay for new furniture.

There's something purifying about watching Lee and June work together. Even though both his parents died this week, and even though she's on the second trimester of a surprise pregnancy, and even though the house they are moving into is massive, they make it seem like it's second nature to them. And there is a particular joy in the process of adaptation.

Lee was born late in his parents' Adult age, so that meant he wasn't going to have any siblings and he was going to interact mostly with adults. He learned fast what he needed to do to be included at the adults' table. "My dad used to joke that I was having whole conversations in my sleep before I learnt how to talk." June erupts with laughter at the anecdote, she hadn't heard it before.

June, on the other hand, is the youngest of four, but she doesn't see her siblings that much. "We were never that close... we've all got different dads," she recounts as she makes room for a baby crib in the master bedroom, the closet might be unusable for a few days but at least the baby's close to the bed. "Lee's dad was the complete opposite of mine. I don't know how good of a parent I'll be, but at least I know Lee won't screw it up."

She describes her situation as a once in a lifetime opportunity. "At first it was just a silly mistake, Lee wanted to show off his mixology skill to me. We must've drunk four drinks each, and he was trying his best to be smooth about it. He said he had a crush on me, that he always did... and well anyway that was the night when I got pregnant." Lee's face turns bright red as she speaks.

"We didn't know at first, we just decided to go on an actual date to Geek Con. I ended up puking while playing with the game mat. I though it was something I ate from the San Myshuno stalls, but he knew right away." "I just got her a test! We'd been too drunk to use protection!"

The last thing he unpacks is his gaming console. His parents' TV is huge compared to the tiny one he had inherited into his rental a few houses away. They quickly sit down and fire up a new game of MySims Racing. It's their favorite game.

"We're thinking Travis if it's a boy, Poppy if it's a girl."

As far as marriage goes, it's not in their plans. Both of them agree that they're too young to settle down. "Our best friends just got married and it seems like they're gonna get divorced before spring is over. They got kids, too. We're gonna see if it works, and then maybe we'll consider it," June explains.

When asked if he's nervous about the future, Lee just chuckles "Are you kidding? I was born to be a dad."
