I can't get over how in the movie the fact that the bullies were all white and rich was very much The Point, and then they got their redemption in the show. (Which, I'm actually all for. I love a good redemption arc. I love recognizing that people can change and aren't defined solely by their past bad decisions. )(Except for Johnny, who of course, didn't make any bad decisions, according to the narrative after S2.)

And then in the show all of the Asian characters that they introduce (everyone except Chozen and Kumiko) are all one note Bad Guys who get what's coming to them. (With the exception of Sensei Kim because heterosexuality is her redeeming character trait)

Wild that they kill a kid and only Daniel seems to care for like, 15 minutes, before they're back on their "us vs them" agenda where the Americans are undisputably the good guys and foreigners are bad. Which I'm sure means nothing in this current political climate.

I wasn't going to play with any infants until I got my skin details sorted out (still a wip chile) but she's literally the only toddler out of all my households. Also I wanted to test the growing together gameplay out & I wanted her milestone panel to be full from infant until adulthood. Verse receives no response.

The elder twins are less than enthused. Valentine is mourning the loss of his favorite parent, and Aphrodite is still grappling with the fact that guitar-playing, cow-milking Sofia was capable of murder. The mood is glum, and the outdated furnishings aren't helping anything.

"Come on. Let's go look at the bedrooms. There are four - the littles can share the bigger one. These aren't furnished, so it'll be sleeping bags on the floor for a while, until we can get proper beds."

There is, at least, something for everyone.

The primary bedroom goes to Verse, of course. It's comically large. He's not sure how he's going to fill it, considering he already has an office downstairs.

The two smaller bedrooms go to Valentine and Aphrodite respectively. Val takes the pink one, Aphrodite the green one. Nobody is surprised.

And the last room goes to the younger twins. It's massive, and likely will be used as storage space until they're old enough to fill it up.

That afternoon brings a guest - Olive Tinker, the Cash family's new next-door neighbor. She politely informs Aphrodite that they are going to be friends.

Olive's... bold personality is swift to reveal itself, and her efforts to have fun with Aphrodite permanently stain the already-ugly rug. Verse sends her home, though he's privately grateful for an excuse to get rid of the thing.

There really is something very...soft and quiet about enjoying an old game like this with Futaba. A sort of warm comfort, like holding off the winter cold in the presence of a fire place and a mug of hot cocoa, washes over him as he follows along the explanation she gives him. He lives for the moments like this, where things in the outside world feel so distant and he can catch his breath for a moment. Things don't have to always be so dire.

The comment does not go unnoticed. In all honesty, their growing popularity is starting to become a cloud hovering over his head; as exciting as it is to hear people up and down the streets of Tokyo talk about them, the ordeal of being known in this capacity makes it feel as though they have painted a target onto their own backs.

Having that bit of reassurance, though, goes a long way. Akira glances in Futaba's direction, a small smile gracing his expression. "Yeah. Gotta try keeping a low profile, at least. It's a lot harder than it sounds." That's a joke. "But, yeah, I think we'll get through this. After all, we can get through anything if we stick together, especially with a master hacker on our side, right?"
