The subway bosses of Gear station are an odd duo, while they keep up public appearances, not much is truly known about them.

It adds to the charm of them.

They never seem interested in partners, or romance, only focusing on their work, and ignoring those who beg for a date.

The twins spent their time doing paperwork, and using synthetic blood to get by.

They don’t need anything else.

However, Ingo does dream of a life with a mate, someone to go home to, someone to love on.

And Emmet dreams of someone who adores his affection, of someone he can dream around Unova, and go on fun dates.

RainCode Sickfic (Sequel 3) preview!

(RainCode Endgame Spoilers!)

Behind the mask…lies the pain you’ve kept hidden all this time…

So as I’ve briefly mentioned multiple times, over winter break I will be writing a new fic, aka the third and final part to my RainCode sickfic trilogy. I call the it the “Sickfics of the Heart” series~ :)

The final fic I write will take place in the post game. Where former Number One, Yuma decides to visit Kanai Ward to check on his homunculus Makoto before the year ends as a break. But he finds out he’s not in good shape health-wise and decides to try to look after him.

I will be making multiple references to my first fic “Home is Where the Heart is” so be sure to read that fic first!

This fic will also contain more angst. (that I will make super fluffy in return :3)

Here is the summary of what I have planned.

Title: A Heartwarming Reunion

With his memories back, Former Number One, now Independent Detective Yuma Kokohead has recently solved yet another case. One more step towards his goal of eradicating all the world’s mysteries. He finds himself a little tired and realized that it was getting close to the end of the year. He thinks maybe it’s a good opportunity to take a small vacation to recuperate.

New Years is usually a time best spent with family. Sadly, Yuma didn’t have any blood relatives. His secondary family was the Nocturnal Detective Agency, but with the master detectives off doing their own thing, and the chief deceased (or rather wandering aimlessly as an undead homunculus zombie) he couldn’t be selfish and take up their time.

But as he thought back to his time spent in Kanai Ward's city of endless rain as an amnesiac, one person crossed his mind. The person who shared his face, his mind and his build. The homunculus clone he had to battle to solve the city’s mystery. (Though he could not remember what exactly happened) The CEO and now Leader of the clouded city of rain full of homunculi like him. Makoto Kagutsuchi.

Yuma thought to himself that even if they were previously enemies, Makoto was probably the closest thing to a blood relative he had left. So he decides to return to Kanai Ward to pay him a visit, to see how the city is fairing and hoping he had some time off to talk and catch up. And as the city’s leader, he was usually alone. He wouldn’t mind a little surprise visit from his original …would he?

Little did Yuma know, that Makoto may have needed his help more than he originally expected. He overhears rumors in the city that speak concerns of Makoto pushing himself too hard. It turns out their city’s leader was ill, and he had only gotten worse due to his days of continuous overworking and trying to brush it off, by hiding it using his mask.

Yuma is about to experience being a caretaker for the first time in his life, and to his own double. He has a bit of trouble at first, but he has a little bit of help from his heartwarming memories of his previous found family, the Nocturnal Detective Agency. He also finds out more about Makoto in the process. Realizing that he’s been in a lot of pain…that he’s kept masked all this time, all alone.

Tsuyu (Mine)/Deku (Yours) - Greenbeans! I think I have always really liked the very brief interactions that these two have had and that it would be very interesting to expand and explore this more. It's definitely worth trying out! She's perfect for giving him a reality check every once in a while, I'll never forget her sobbing after they came back from rescuing Bakugou and how worried she was. They really ought to hang out more!

Zenitsu/Nezuko - Always happy to use my Zenitsu any time I can! I haven't used him much so this is a chance for me to dust him off and try some new fresh interactions! Outside of his rambling and delusions I think just spending time with Nezuko could be very cute! I think she has the ability to really teach him a lot in general but also about himself. What he wants to accomplish, what kind of person he should set out to be, goals to aim for. She honestly could do this without really meaning to, I just don't think Zenitsu has had many things to strive for or people to fight for. Outside of his grandpa, he hasn't had a lot of reason to do things. He couldn't even do things for himself, so it's a lot easier to better himself for the sake of someone else. Platonically or romantically, this has the potential to be extraordinary.

Rudy/Amanda - Ah, you're really tempting me to dig into this series again. I watched Invincible season 1 and I did start season 2 but I haven't finished it yet. I immediately took a liking to Monster Girl and I already liked Rudy so the deal was pretty much already done bwahaha. I've been on the fence about adding Invincible muses for a long time so this may finally get me to buckle down and do it. Their dynamic already has me sold tbh and I'd love to at least try giving Rudy a shot if you're willing to sit through me finding his voice for a little while, I'd love to give these two a go!

Rex/Rudy - The same thing goes here. I haven't written Rex before and I think it's hilarious to have him talk to his clone LMAO. But seriously I think this could be funny to write interactions for. I'll have to find Rex's voice but I'm sure once I get the hang of it this will be a gold mine of an interaction. I have a knack for writing questionable characters that I fully encourage people to bully.

Rex/Amanda - Girlie, put him in his place. This dude talks too much and we all know it. I haven't even written him yet and I already know he said too much so let him have it. I'm so positive he'll more than likely deserve it.

I don't necessarily want him to be The Main Villain of it in the traditional sense... Mr. Scratch is, ultimately, just another side of Alan... And Alan has *many* sides! >:) We see just a taste of how many Alan's there are from The Signal/The Writer when he can't stop fracturing into further self-persecution. I hope to see lots of different Alan's made manifest, like the Teen Titans "Raven OSDD-1a" episode (shout out to my epic partner @parasitefun for showing me that fucking smash hit).

I have a lot of high hopes and fondness in my heart for Remedy and the development process they've been doing. I was a big fan of Alan Wake in 2013 and I did a looot of RP even in 2015-2017. Crazy shit! I kinda fell off the face of the Earth for a while tho. I've never played Quantum Break, and me and Paras are working thru Control together right now (we're in the Maintenance Sector and it just finished doing the Burn The Trash quest).

We spent most of May/June working thru Alan Wake and we have sooo many things to say on it that we're polishing up because it's such a dense story!! So transitioning from working thru AW with a fine tooth comb, to Control which is like four times the size of AW and has *that* much more to work thru, has been a real treat! Remedy sure knows how to make a good fucking story! It's like a croissant with many, many, many laminated layers to turn around in my head. I'm good at recognizing voice actors, so it made my head explode to realize Matthew Poretta played Darling, and James Mcaffrey played Trench. Like, omfg!! And every new realization along the way that links Control to AW. Just a real treat!

All that being said, I've seen a lot of posts along the lines of like, "Where's Alice!@!!! Where's Barry!!!!!!!" and it's like, will I be disappointed if they are underplayed...? yes. Do I worry that that's a possibility, at all? ...only a little bit! I want to put my faith into Remedy's ability to make this a good story. They've been chipping away at it for 13+ years, after all, and if I remember correctly, The Alan Wake Experience since 2000? As in the conception and development of AW1? So, 23 years entirely... that's a long time to be rotating the same Boy around. AW1 was a masterpiece IMO, a many-layered sandwich of nuance and metaphor, paradoxes within paradoxes... I think AW2 is gonna really surprise all of us.

Alan Wake 2, I'm super curious about what they do with it, and hopefully Mr. Scratch *and* Alan both get room to breathe. I think they will, and I'm so, so intrigued about what they're gonna do with Saga! It seems pretty ambitious for Remedy to do a multi-protagonist storyline like this, and their cheeky insistence that you can play it however you want, there's no wrong way to play, makes me worried. I hope more than anything that they didn't dumb down certain world-building elements (I'm blown away at how we went from TVs, radio show0,s and manuscripts in AW1 to the sheer amount of multi-media that went into Control).

I have in some degrees some fairly bad brain damage that inhibits a lot of my abilities to comprehend certain things, and yet, everything about the way the world-building environment contributes to a Greater Understnding of a Remedy Game that most people tend to ignore or outright complain about! Oh, the TV ruins the pacing, oh I didn't wanna have to stand here listening to someone talk I wanna run around and shoot things, oh boo I didn't like how many manuscripts i had to pick up. It's a little tedious, yes, and it breaks the Pacing Of The Literal Game up a little bit yes, but!!! It's excruciatingly important to the story!! It's a ROLE PLAYING GAME!!! YOU HAVE TO ROLE PLAY OMFG!!!!!! (still salty over how Zero Punctuation reviewed these games considering how fucking detectivey they are).

So anyways all of that being said, I hope that Alan Wake 2 is stuffed to the BRIM with multi-media. I hope we get SICK of manuscripts and casettes and pictures with captions and TV episodes and radio shows and BLAH BLAH BLAH. I hope Saga and Alan have a lot of crazy shit go down with each other because they're also very shippable. I hope Alex Casey calls Alan a shitty writer because he's one of the only obvious "HI, I'M A BOOK CHARACTER INVENTED BY ALAN WAKE. I'M VERY MAD. ABOUT BEING CREATED BY ALAN WAKE."

Ideally I would have played all the Remedy games to be caught up by now on more of the AW2 hype and analysis, because I wish I had more things to say! But because I haven't finished Control or QB yet, I'm trying to stay away from stuff that technically spoils Control just by virtue of being in the AW-verse.

i’m gonna get into this because i’m bored and want something to do. i’m not gonna post the paper because i feel a little mean and petty and spreading those vibes far and wide is not what i wanna do right now, just blowing off some steam. that being said if you wanna know the paper lmk. under a cut because i imagine it could get long and maybe also unhinged. also i have no plan this is just off the cuff

background: i’m a postbacc with the neuroscience lab i joined my senior year of university, we study the neural mechanisms of different eye movements. i’m about to start a master’s program in science and technical professional writing so i’m the resident english major. this paper is about attention and how it (allegedly) explores space rhythmically

0.5: “saccade” (type of eye movement) is in the title but i don’t remember ever seeing it in the paper. the task includes a saccade from a cue to a target but really that’s about it 1: you know what a garden path sentence is, right? go look it up if you don’t. the first sentence of the abstract is one. off to a great start. there are several sentences of the abstract i understand all the words in, but not in that order. there are only three (3) sentences of the abstract i have no problem with, out of i think nine (9). incredible ratio 2: i can’t really speak on the quality of the science, for a few reasons– i’m a baby neuroscientist so sometimes (many times) rationale for experiment design just goes over my head. that’s ok. the main reason i can’t speak to how well the Did A Science is because i can’t understand the paper. like the language. oftentimes in lab meeting this morning we had a question and we just didn’t know the answer because the paper was being vague for some reason 2.5: one of the grad students is our resident expert in data collection and analysis, and at one point she got up and explained how she would expect a certain analysis to be done versus how it appears the paper did the analysis. i didn’t really understand it that much but regardless i do understand that it was strange. and again we don’t know why they did it. because they didn’t tell us. 2.75: many things go unexplained, like acronyms that just appear. is it common knowledge that “MUA” stands for multi-unit activity? maybe, i don’t know. i do know that it wasn’t defined in the text body, but it was in the materials & methods section, at the end of the paper which i didn’t get to because honestly i just was not having a great time. and we’ll get into that. we’re not even there yet. one of the reviewers said something along the same lines. oh, we’ll come back to the peer reviewers. 3: THE FIGURES. THE PROOFREADING ON THE FIGURES IS TERRIBLE. GUYS IT’S SO BAD. there are 10 figures in this paper. i didn’t get past 4. there are problems wrt 3 out of these 4 figures. this is the main thing that’s fucking me up. there may be some numbers after this one but this is the big one. this is why i’ve been thinking about this all day. Figure 2– besides being utterly incomprehensible for most people in the lab, nothing wrong with the figure itself. however. at one point, the text references a certain time range and then directs me, the reader, to reference Fig. 2a, insert. so i look at Fig. 2a, insert. and i notice that in the caption for Fig. 2a, insert, the time period references does not match the time range stated in the text. it turns out. the text was referencing FIGURE 2B. i’ having a great time here guys Figure 3– there are four sub-figures to Figure 3: Fig. 3a, Fig. 3b, Fig. 3b, and Fig. 3c. I’m not wrong there i swear to god that’s what it says. there are two Fig. 3b.s. but not in the caption. the caption has the correct Fig. 3a/b/c/d. the text never references Fig. 3d, which is just as well since it doesn’t exist apparently. maybe. the caption and the figure itself disagree. the text does reference Fig. 3b. i don’t know which one it’s referring to. i don’t think it does either. this is ridiculous Figure 4– mostly fine except for Fig. 4e. the caption says it shows the “percentage of hits,” ie. the number of times the monkey did the task right. this is fine. what isn’t is that the y-axis on the figure itself says FAs (%), or percentage of false alarms, which. which isn’t the same thing. it’s wrong. false alarms are shown in Fig. 7e, by the way. this is when i tapped out. my notes on this figure are hysteric. how did this get published. how did no one notice. this got published in Nature. 4: none of the peer reviewers noticed. the peer review notes are public and available and i read through their comments. nothing on these figures. wtf. when the authors respond, all three reviewers say that their concerns have been satisfactorily answered (fascinating, as some of the questions they had initially we also had, after publication. i’ll have to look back to see how these questions were answered but still. we had the same questions.), and said it was a fantastic manuscript and they wholeheartedly all recommended it for publication. MY BROTHER IN CHRIST THERE IS NO FIGURE 3D HOW ON EARTH DID YOU NOT NOTICE. 4.5: is that it. i’m done

6. What character do you have the most fun writing?

i think ive gotta go with kez on this one! everyone is fun to write in their own ways but kez is particularly fun because i get to sink into "immature, inappropriate, high-school-me" which is in a way, satisfying, easy, and equal parts cringe and fun. shes just got a great voice!

11. What do you envy in other writers?

Two things: ability to draw out conflict, and ability to write longer stories. My most (personally) successful pieces have been one-shots. im extremely envious of people who have the time, energy, and focus to write multi-chapter fics. you guys are fucking awesome!!!

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about

ooooo excuse to extrapolate on MMU????? so i think its pretty clear that its "paper trails"-adjacent but what you may not know is that its basically a love letter to paper trails. i started writing this around the time that nym and i were just getting to know each other, and we ended up just meta-ing a lot of the characterizations that ended up in PT, and i just went. Okay. Prepare Yourself Binch.

1. Which muse(s) is/are your favourite(s)?

I don't typically have favorites, since all of my muses are so often my favorite character in a piece of media already, but I suppose I could say that the ones I have the strongest muse for at any given time are "favorites" of sorts!

4. Name a muse you have written in the past. What was your favourite thing about this muse?

In the past I have written Dipper Pines, as I think I've talked about on this blog before, but since no one else is coming to mind right now, I'll keep talking about him! My favorite thing about him is something that I think is absolutely a result of Gravity Falls being written the way that it was: I loved his genuineness, which often took the form of goofiness! He took himself so seriously, but Mabel's influence on him was a part of him that I don't think he was even conscious of, due to the fact that it had always been there. So he'd be trying to solve some paranormal case, but in the middle of it, he would just be a total dork, because it never occurred to him to not be himself-- after all, he's always had someone there who is fully willing and ready to accept him as he is, so why would he bother to hide?

5. Name a muse you wish to write in the future. What’s your favourite thing about this muse?

As my DC mutuals will know, I have been working on adding Kirk Langstom to this blog! My favorite thing about Langstrom is that regardless of his experiment going wrong, he still tries to do good anyway. He has good intentions; he just, like many people, goes about them in a flawed way! He's got a lot of heart, and I'd love to see it explored more, which is why I want to try my hand at writing him!

9. Which of your muses do you most identify with? Why?

Oof, I'm not sure, to be honest! A lot of my muses are typically ones I feel some sort of connection with, just by the nature of having a favorite character in a piece of media, but... I guess I'll say that Tim Drake has been my longest-standing muse, so I likely have the most connection to him? I've been a fan of his since I was a young teen, and while my fandom obsessions may shift over time, Tim has remained a pretty steady constant in my life!

A runner-up would probably be Peter Parker, though. He's another one I've loved for a HUGE portion of my life, and I think that his being the "every-man" superhero is very easy to identify with for a lot of people! I very often get emotional hearing Stan Lee talk about creating Peter, because he wanted to make a character who was relatable for the average viewer. I love that idea, so while I'm one of millions of people who identify with him, he's still a character I consider special to me!

Spoilers for NWH:

This was especially palpable when Otto spoke to Maguire!Peter at the end of NWH, saying that he was all grown up. I noticed that a lot of people in my generation, who watched Raimi Spider-Man movies when we were young kids, had an extremely emotional reaction to that line, myself included. We got to grow up with Peter, so seeing that on the big screen absolutely wrecked me!

opinion on true love :   denki is absolutely a believer in it !    he just doesn’t know when he’ll actually end up finding it .    to him ,   as someone so young   /   hormonal   /   naturally a hopeless romantic ,   he’s gonna assume every person he crushes on is  ‘ the one ’ ,   which makes it all the much harder when they obviously don’t reciprocate .    he’s really excited to be in love one day ,   though    ---    because besides being a hero ,   he’s always really wanted to become someone’s husband !    

opinion on love at first sight :   again ,   he’s at the age where he falls in love superficially about five times a day .    it’s not outside the scope of probability that this applies to those  ‘ first sight ’  crushes too ,   especially since so many of these small ,  insignificant crushes are derived purely from physical attraction at first .    even though he doesn’t always understand that he’s not actually in love ,   it’s still pretty obvious on the outside ,   given how quickly he gets over these things when they inevitably don’t go as planned .    he’s just really dramatic . 

how  ‘ romantic ’ are they? :   i think denki would like to think he’s something of a connoisseur of romance ,   but in reality ,   he’s too inexperienced to really understand all the criteria he should be meeting in a relationship .    while he has good intentions ,   he’s just a very unorganized person ,   so after the initial bit ,   he might start showing up late to dates or forgetting little anniversaries and whatnot .    he may intend to make it a priority ,   but he’s just so   ...   malleable as a person ,   so distractions will always get the best of him ??    and what’s worse is that he’s so laid - back that he may not understand exactly why he should be more remorseful about keeping someone waiting .    he will undoubtedly do his best to make up for it ,   though ,   showering his loved one in affection and really laying down the charm to appease them   ...   but he may have to be put in a time - out corner one of these days ,   just for good measure .    this will change as he gets older and has more experience ,   of course .

ideal physical traits :   he likes strong people ,   regardless of gender .    he also likes pretty features ,   like beautiful eyes and soft cheeks  /  skin ?    soft ,   pillowy shoulders for leaning on ,   hands good for holding ,   nice legs just to look at   ...   

ideal personality traits :   he’d like to think he’s into people who are pleasant and kind ,   but actually ,   he’ll take almost anybody who he can keep up with .    deep down ,   he likes personalities combatant of his own as it provides an interesting dynamic ,   and since he’s something of a  ‘ balancing act ’  himself ,   i think he’d always be fine to even things out in any relationship .   the real ideal trait ,   though ,   is anybody who clearly has a good heart ,   regardless of how they act on the surface .    denki has great intuition and can sniff that shit out real quick .    no matter how agreeable or difficult someone might be ,   denki’ll always find himself falling easily for those who act on their heartsongs ,   whatever that may mean for each individual .    he vibes with those who are supremely in tune with themselves .

unattractive physical traits :   don’t think he really has all that many .    he finds a bit of romance in a lot of physical imperfections ,   like scars and teeth gaps and things like that   ...   things that are personable ,   notable ,   and things that tell stories ,   are all something he can get behind .

unattractive personality traits :   cruelness and brashness and just about anyone who operates on their ego alone .    again ,   if he senses that someone may be a good person deep down ,   he can come to overlook their ugly personalities ,   if only to use it as a stepping stone of sorts into bettering them as people    ---    but if you’ve got an ugly heart to match ,   then he’ll want nothing to do with you .

Potentially know where I’m going with this now... It’s for a prompt @glitchvault74 sent me ages ago with a trio of words: lights, minuscule, and target :3c I like word prompts haha

An Echo, A Promise - ch2 of On Top Of Sanctuary Hills fic I know where I’m going for this...main thing is just getting from point A to B lol

Follow You Down - Echo fic where she, Deacon, & Nick are ‘stuck’ in an old abandoned mansion while radstorm rages outside. I’m a sucker for like... creepy atmospheric stuff and when the mood hits ohohoho its SPOOKY TIME >:D This...definitely uuuh multi-chapter from the notes I’ve already made on it so it’ll take a good while before it sees the light of day lol
