Who do you imagine as Jason's father if it wasn't Zeus? Jupiter did not return to Beryl but she caught the attention of another god or goddess.
Sticking with Roman mythology, and those that have shown up in the series. And excluding the rest of the big 3, because why not make this a bit more intresting.
I have a few thoughts about who I'd choose, and how they'd fit Jason thematically.
Because Jason has always been defined by his parentage. I've narrowed it down to 3, I got way to carried to with this I'm sorry 😅.
Jason as a Son of Auster (Minor Roman God of the Summer and South Wind.)
He's someone Jason frequently interacts with during House of Hades. A diety who reminsces on the old days when he was both feared and beloved.
And someone Jason finds kinda annoying, preferring his Greek counterpart.
Definitely fits his whole identity crisis.
And I just love the idea of Jason both loving his father but also two seconds away from wanting to punt him across the sky.
Jason keeps his wind and storm abilities and gains a power over heat and flames.
Which, would definitely add another layer to the identity crisis, because what are you Jason? The storm or the fire?
He bound to service but it's in his nature to be free. And wanting the forgotten to be remembered.
Than we have Jason as a Son of Terminus (God of boundaries and protector of Rome.)
Jason being expected more than any other to be Camp Jupiter's sworn protector and defender.
He wants to see the world but he's bound by duty. And well Terminus is rather strict so Jason's not exactly well liked by other campers.
He'd also clash with his father at times because Jason wants to end traditions while his father lives and breathes by them.
But Terminus is also a kind diety and loves a good loop hole and I think he'd genuinely be proud seeing Jason speak out and follow the rules, in his own way.
The Quest of the 7 is probably Jason's first time leaving Camp and learning that the world operates on different rules.
Jason has his father's abilities of being able to snatch weapons (making him one of the few that can take Riptide from Percy like his father does) and teloport.
He has some control over the earth, mainly stone and he's built a lot more durable and tougher because of it.
During the Titan War, Jason and his father were Camp Jupiter's final line of defence.
And finally, Jason as a Son of Apollo. Even disregarding trials of Apollo I just find it an interesting idea.
Beryl was a performer, she was a star and Apollo kinda has a type.
Jason would belong to both Greek and Roman Camps. He'd have a lot more of a rivalry with Octavian because he's a demigod and he's a legacy.
Keeping with the theme that Roman demigods have different abilities to their Greek counterparts, (See Hazel and Nico).
And that the Romans seem to get the short end of the stick.
Jason's abilities while including archery are more medical based than combat based. He's had to work hard to get to where he is.
He's a good healer (I mean his name does mean to heal) but what many don't know, is that Jason's a lot more profiecent at giving diseases and causing pain.
It's one Beryl and Lupa was particularly fond of, both thinking he could use it against their enemies.
It's not a power he likes to use, and frankly tries not pretend doesn't exist.
But denial leads to negative emotions and next thing he knows he's given those around him the cold.
Granted, he can heal it but now he's considered an ill omen.
It causes some tension between him and Frank at first because Frank really wants to be a son of Apollo and Jason's like yeah... No you don't.
It also gives him a neat parallel to Will, who's abilities are also mostly healing based. And I feel like the Apollo kids would just adore Jason.
Jason shows up at Camp Half Blood and wonders into the infirmary all curious because he's mostly banned from his camps infirmary, unless they really need him.
And Will is just like hey newbie.
Also Jason not knowing Apollo, thinking his dad wants nothing to do with him but defending him infront of the entire Olympian Council, is so him.
Like I said, a lot of thoughts.

How I’d rate the Gods/Goddesses(riordanverse)
This is my rating based off the way Rick Riordan portrayed them in the Riordanverse. The traditional myths have been taken into account but do not make up my entire opinion.
Hestia:
10/10 would give my life for this goddess. In all aspects of the word, this goddess is a goddess. I want a novella of her watching over the hearth and watching out for her family and the heroes. I imagine her being a very comforting presence and warm like a hug, and maybe this is me projecting my mummy issues but I just want her to hug me.
Dionysus:
A solid 7.35/10 for Mr D. Naturally he was a bit annoying, but we were never under the pretence that he he was meant to be anything more than what he provided and I respect that. Him caring about his kids at camp, and staying relatively loyal to his wife is always a plus. And I like his relatively humble beginnings being a hero and becoming a god and then not causing that much trouble in the series. Unlike some other pieces of shit.
Hermes:
4/10. Mans had no right blaming Luke’s thirst for mass genocide on 16 year old Annabeth. Not cool man. Not cool. He gets the points he got because he did genuinely care about Maia, and Luke, but he lost the rest of them by having a blatant favourite (who literally caused so much destruction). However I do still like his line about family in sea of monsters and never giving up on them. Nice meaning. But he was still a shitty father and only intervened out of self interest most of the time.
Aphrodite:
2/10. I hate how low I have to rank her. But my god did Rick do her dirty in his depiction. Just the misogyny, the lack of depth, and the untouched potential she has as a character, as a goddess, THE OLDEST GOD/GODDESS and Rick really made her throw rose petals around the battle fields on one of (what was meant to be) the biggest fights of the riordanverse. Absolute robbery. If I’m not mistaken as well, she was a huge contributor to the issues and obstacles percabeth went through and we do not Stan. HOWEVER, I love her as a goddess normally, and what she could represent if she’s written properly.
Hephaestus:
8/10. I have no qualms with this man. I too prefer the company of inanimate objects to people and get stressed about social interaction. And I too have mummy issues. So me and Hephaestus are on the same page. Let this man tinker away in his little bunker. He never went out of his way to make things harder for demigods, and was helpful when they came to him for help which I can also respect. (Point deduction because it was on his land that Bianca died…if I’m not mistaken).
Ares:
-12/10. This man was introduced as a bully, and gives off the vibes of every phobic, known to humanity. I do not vibe. I do not agree. I do not stan. ALSO his motorbike seat is apparently made from "Caucasian human skin”!!!!!!???? We as children never questioned this? We just went sure aight move on?! Please this man has the biggest small dick energy if I ever saw it and I despite him so much. Mans was also never helpful. Ever. I don’t think. I think Mars was better than him though so I’ll give him that.
Artemis:
9.99/10 all hail queen of the lesbians. Mad respect to this woman. In what she stands for, who she protects and in her actions. She’s what I embody when I stand up for myself in fights and when I speak to have my voice heard. I like Rick’s depiction of her and I love seeing her and her hunters pop up in his books. Would love a couple books on the hunters and their adventures. Also I love archery. And I’m biased to the moon because I love the night so she gets extra points for all of that too.
Apollo:
Prior to Trials of Apollo 7/10, after TOA 9.90/10. Yes it’s a big jump but my god did Lester grow on me. Prior to TOA he was pretty average. He was funny, always provided a good laugh to the plot and was always helping the demigods which I loved. But I know he’s an asshole full of himself so I can’t give him any higher than that until he had some character development, which we got in TOA (specifically after Burning Maze). And I really like who he is now and the type of character Rick shaped him out to be. In the myths he’s a big creep, and I still stand by that idea, hence why he doesn’t get a full 10.
Athena:
3.5/10…ughhh I hate to say this. But part of it is the same reasoning I gave about Aphrodite. I just have so many issues with the way she’s portrayed and it’s not accurate to what I believe in my heart she should represent. And as a child of Athena, I feel like Rick then did her entire legacy dirty. She has her moments, but since I can’t even fully recall one right now, it just proves my point. As a goddess as a whole though, what she represents is everything I aspire to be in life. She’s my entire aesthetic of hard work, creativity, and strength and grit, without taking away of being a powerful female. Zeus’ lead strategist like shit, Rick could have done so much. But he did not. And I am thus sad about it.
Demeter:
6/10. I have no issues with Demeter. Kinda boring. I think that’s what most of the fandom thinks as well. She just didn’t get enough screen time or development. I have no attachment to her. I think the powers that she has, and has passed on to her kids is cool though so there’s that. But in the series as well she doesn’t do much. She also (initially) doesn’t fight in the battle of Manhattan so maybe I’m slightly bitter there. But yeah, i’m indifferent.
Hades:
8.99/10 Okay so hear me out I know this man gets so much bad rep in the myths and that’s part of why he doesn’t get a full 9. But I really really love the way he’s depicted in the riordanverse, especially with his entire arc with his kids/specially with Nico. Like literally one of my favourite quotes In the entire series is “my children are so rarely happy, I would like to see you be the exception.” Out of the gods listed here (and excluding Dionysus), he acts like a genuine parent to his kids and tries. And like there’s issues, sure, but he works on them. And since so much of the first series is about how the gods are neglectful, seeing him change and seeing him fight for Nico is my everything.
Poseidon:
7.1/10. Honestly this feels too high considering mans was nearly If not just as bad as Zeus in keeping it in his dam pants. His points come from treating Sally like the queen she is, and trying with Percy (albeit too little too late but I can see the minimal effort). That being said, he’s really shitty in the myths so I can’t really give him anything higher than this. He’s barely a dad, and sees Percy more as an ally than an actual son or human being that needs attention. I like him more in Fanon and the way that I write him lmao because I humanise him. But I won’t lie he’s dilf material, and I still like rick’s depiction of him.
Hera:
3/10 I’m surprising myself with this rating because tbh I might even push her to 4.5 just because she’s so consistent in her own goals and agenda, and that perseverance is very admirable even if it was at the cost of some of my favourite characters. She was very much two faced though and fucked around stuff that she should have stayed out of. Her hatred for literal children though is a bit problematic. I have no attachment to her but I admire how much she just wants a family. However she just really needs to assess how she approaches that since it’s a bit messed up.
Zeus:
-5/10 I really don’t Zeus, his character, him in the myths, everything about him. He gives off the vibes of a man who abuses the power that he was given. And I don’t like that. It makes me uncomfortable and I don’t like him at all. His treatment of his children, of the demigods, and the way he governs Olympus. Not a fan. I could rule Olympus better and I’m a mentally unstable, serotonin deficient 20 year old with a hyper fixation on greek mythology and Minecraft. However despite not liking his character, I think Rick does a great job at depicting him accurately to how he was in the myths.

"Who is Babysitting?" part 2? I kinda want to see 'Pollo and Hades babysitting and failing/succeeding along with the dynamics. Maybe they can be fighting and 'Sephone comes in to break the quarrel?
Thank you for the ask! I hope that it turned down just the way you wanted it :)
Who is babysitting? (part 2)
“I think we overestimated our skills with kids,” Apollo whispered.
It turned out that Will and Nico were right. A newborn and a hyperactive toddler were harder to handle than they had imagined. “Shh! You’re going to wake Ryder.” Hades replied a bit louder.
Apollo crossed his arms. “You’ll be the one who isn’t whispering. I am good with kids.”
“You just said that we overestimated our skills.”
“I was mostly referring to you. Kids love me.” He said proudly. Ryder was sleeping quietly in his crib; no idea that two immortal deities were taking care of him. Apollo was staring at him in awe. “He’s adorable.”
Hades turned at him. “Yeah. What you did with Ryder, it was nice of you,” he cleared his throat, “even though I wouldn’t have let anything happen to him.”
Ryder was a premature baby. He was born at 28 weeks, which was extremely early even for a legacy of Apollo. He didn’t have an immune system when he was born, and he caught meningitis during his first night in the world. The doctors had told Nico and Will to prepare for the worse as it looked like the odds weren’t in their favour. But Apollo sneaked into the NICU in the middle of the night and cured him even after Zeus had banned them from having any interactions with their children or legacies. But if that wasn’t a worthy reason to get banned from Olympus, then what was it?
“I did what I had to do. I don’t want any credit.” The two Gods went into the living room. Bianca was easier to handle than her little brother.
“Apollo not wanting to be the centre of attention. Well, that’s a first for you.” Hades noted. Apollo just rolled his eyes. “But you got the middle name. It’s right there in the birth certificate. We’ve all seen it. Ryder Phoebus.”
“Are you jealous of me?”
“Of course not. Why would I ever be jealous of you?” He asked.
“Because Ryder was named after me, not after you.”
“It’s just a middle name and for a 5000-year-old person, you are being incredibly childish.”
“All right, Mr Serious.” Apollo got up. “Eh! I’m Hades, I’m a grown-up. I pay taxes for my underworld palace. Eh, I’m Hades I’m so much more mature than Apollo. Apollo cries when he watches Toy Story 3, I’m so macho and wise.” He mimicked the second God, who didn’t seem happy about the impression of himself.
“You’re the one who started it. I didn’t say anything.” He declared.
“And then I’m the one being immature! And I’m so much more fun.”
“You mean more childish. You are just doing dumb shenanigans ever since you became a God.” Hades accused him.
“There two small children in the house! You say words like dumb! How childish of you.”
“Come on now. They’re both asleep. Will and Nico curse all the time around them. You’re just trying to change the subject.”
“Maybe we should ask Bianca who is more fun out of the two of us.” Apollo crossed his arms.
“Maybe that’s what we should do.” Hades got out of the couch.
They heard a small sound then Persephone appeared between the two of them, guarding Bianca’s bedroom door. “Don’t you dare wake up the child! You’re both equally immature,” she turned to Hades. “sorry honey, but you’re passive-aggressive,” Apollo chuckled, but the goddess pointed at him, “and you’re whiny. But what you both have in common is that you love your kids and legacies. So cut down the competition of who is the best, because I’m going to come after you, and that’s something you don’t want to happen. Believe me.” Persephone warned them.
“Damn. You’re overprotective.” Apollo noted only to receive a glare from the goddess. Ryder started crying. Both Hades and Apollo stared at Persephone.
“No, I am not going. You’re the babysitters. I’m just the Deus ex Machina. Quite literally.” She laughed with her own comment. The other two continued to stare at her. “Go! He’s crying. What are you waiting for?” She motioned them to comfort the crying baby. Without saying a word they went into the room.
Persephone realised that the door behind her opened and a two-year-old came out. She still wasn’t exactly happy that Hades was so involved with his son from another woman, but Bianca was a cute kid. “How did you get out of your crib?” She asked the little girl as she took her on her.
“I climbed. It was easy.” She mentioned.
“You need to go back to sleep, darling,” Persephone said. She opened the light of the room and walked inside. She counted at least 50 stuffed animals not to mention the rest of the toys spread all over the room. “You’ve got a lot of toys.”
“Do you want to play?” Bianca suggested.
“Maybe some other time, it’s pretty late.” The goddess let her down in her crib and handed her the stuffed elephant that was on the mat next to the crib. Bianca clutched it in her arms and put it on her crib. “Goodnight, angel.”
She closed the door and saw the way her husband and Apollo had left the living room. She snapped her fingers and put everything got back in its place. A few moments later, Hades and Apollo managed to put Ryder back to sleep. “What took you so long?”

seeing everyone talk about hoo rewrite hc’s i would like to join and add a few hehe
- i won’t reiterate what everyone’s been saying bc they’re all correct and right (no frazel, no racist/sexist shit about piper, hazel, reyna) no forced outing of nico, no weird “i’m alpha” shit between jason & percy, and overall better leo’s whole arc etc...
- i would swap annabeth’s godly parent (so pjo rewrite) i think having her being a daughter of nike (a minor goddess) would be far more interesting/is fitting for her! her desire to be first, number 1, always win, and having her pride and need for victory be a part of who she is! and in pjo she would have been in the hermes cabin thus making her relationship w luke stronger, therefore making his betrayal hurt that much worse (also for fun in hoo she’d have a crush on piper and play into the whole cocky yet nervous daughter of nike who only wants to be the number 1 in piper’s heart hehe)
- instead i would want to put a black child of athena i think that them within the story would be so interesting and their intelligence is not only of extreme use, but they can offer strategies and ways to get out of dire situations in the skip of a heartbeat! plus i think they’d be great friends w leo & hazel!
- i would like to add more minor/underworld/primordial god kids! i wanna see children of eros (primordial), thanatos, hecate, nemesis, nike, hebe, hypnos, erebus, nyx etc... i think they’d be SO much cooler than to see just kids of the 12 olympians and to see how some of them interact w the 7 + nico & reyna! (son of eros & thanatos & hecate interacting w nico and hazel - son of eros helping nico, son of hecate helps hazel to control the mist, son of thanatos being friends w nico & hazel and feeling a connection w them? daughter of nemesis battling w her internal of struggle whether she hates percy or not and how she’s seen how it’s affected her brother? son of hebe being best friends with leo and relates to his fun spunk? son & daughter of erebus being the antithesis of jason yet seeing his kindess and respect and how he subverts their ideals of a how a son of jupiter/zeus would act? children of nike meeting frank & reyna and look at how strong & good at combat they are and seeing future sparring partners?
- i am. a narcissus apologist he deserves a better and well rounded character arc - i want to see him full of anger sadness and despair and how demigods feel the guilt of fighting him and forcing him to look into his reflection and see him sob bc it’s too much and he didn’t deserve to be held down for eternity! here’s @hazelmagix’s take on it: here’s one, and another, and it makes me sad
- eros is the protector of homosexual love! it would have been better to see him protect and speak to nico and give him advice - he protects young men! it would have been different to see this side of him rather than the mischievous terrifying one the gods know (as the god are actually frightened by eros) and also! no thanatos in chains!
- if you’ve read tsoa then this is for you but for the curse of achilles scene i wanted tsoa!achilles so bad omfg seeing a young man who is the cautionary tale of bearing the curse and who’s THE most famous and one of the most tragic demigods (and how he’s the opp. spectrum of percy bc he let go of his humanity and therefore losing everything he knew and loved) and having percy recognize that would have been heartwrenching and how achilles not only lost his life & honor but something more important to him aka PATROCLUS!
- for fun i wanna see a “sons of apollo” group that has a fun rivalry w the “hunters of artemis” that has so substance for bettering hoo it’s just something i wanna see JDJDJDJD and also........ let the hunters have lesbians! people have pointed out how it’s ridiculous to kick them out and also that they’re all so young so artemis has to make sure that they wanna join which would change the concept fundamentally! i think hunter thalia meeting praetor amazon reyna would have been insanely cool and them being gf’s!
- i love valgrace! i’d love to have seen it! peak friends to lovers trope but first and foremost leo learns how to find self love and be secure in himself and his friends help him! so does the son of eros & son of hebe & hazel & piper! and i wanted to see certain friendships within the two camps like percy & leo, jason & annabeth, piper & will, hazel & charlie, piper & silena, the stoll brothers and dakota, frank & clarisse etc...
- not me realizing that i didn’t add iconic takes from @bunkernine & @hazelslevesquee! caitlyn the foremost icon of the TLH trio her takes are over here! and pearl already has ideas about hazel :’)
- i wanted octavian to be an absolute BASTARD, complete antagonist, just despicable! one of my fav scenes of his was when he told percy that he hoped the roman brand hurt which is entirely fucked up and dark and i love a villainous character! he was a little bitch in hoo when he deserved to be a bad bitch! a legacy of apollo who has the worst qualities of apollo himself and who the “sons of apollo” consider an absolute travesty to the name of their patron!
- the gaea fight bro......... what was that??? we needed TENSION, I WANTED ACTION, SHE’S A PRIMORDIAL GODDESS AND IS SUPER POWERFUL! we should have that battle be even more dangerous and tension filled than the battle of kronos and were ROBBED! we should have seen aphrodite’s war side, the extent of damage the big three kids could do, minor god kids weren’t considered to be all that strong but are LETHAL in battle! i wanted sm more from this battle it was WEAK in the books smh we deserved better! and there’s probably way more i’d change but my brain is no thots head empty rn but that’s all i have for now hehe

Nico is a Roman legacy
I’ve mentioned this before, but never made an actual post about it. But think about it:
He was able to trick an entire camp of Romans that he was one of them for almost a year
Terminus allowed him into the city without any trouble, even though he had initially refused to let Annabeth, Piper and Leo into the city for being Greek
You could say that applies to Percy as well, but Percy has no memories. He believed he was Roman, and the whole gods thing only works because of belief. If no one believes in the gods, they disappear, like Pan did
Also, he was allowed in because of Hera. Even without the belief thing, his queen had just ordered for Percy to be allowed to stay in New Rome
Nico knew he was Greek, he didn’t believe that he was Roman. But Terminus gave him no trouble about getting into New Rome
The only way that should work is if he is Roman. He’s a son of Hades, but he most likely is a Roman legacy
Plus, he’s Italian, which is ‘a slave of Rome’ (it’s a line in their national anthem). Italy is the closest to Rome that exists in the world. Why wouldn’t the Roman gods travel there all the time?
They can manifest in places where their domain runs high, so Italy should be a breeding ground for Roman gods and goddesses, right?
The Roman in him would have to be relatively close to when he was born (ie grandparent or great-grandparent). If not, the Roman would be so slim that Terminus wouldn’t have let him in so easily
I really like the idea of Nico being super close with his grandparents, so I’m going to say it was a great-grandparent for that reason. I don’t have any actual ideas on that, or reasoning other than I like Nico having a good relationship with his nonno and nonna
Now, who is he a legacy of?
I have a few ideas
Bacchus
Somnus
Venus
Achelois
Bacchus because Mr D didn’t punish him for calling him ‘wine dude’ and starting that whole thing. Plus, I like Mr D and Nico as family, and it would help support my trans!nico Headcanon for how Maria accepted him
Somnus is the Roman form of Hypnos, if you didn’t know. This is because of how much energy is drained from Nico using his powers, when it doesn’t really affect anyone else. Also, he can travel through his dreams and sleep for days on end, which seems a little like Clovis to me
Venus because I love Aphrodite Nico. Plus, he seems to be able to calm people down and talk them into doing things a lot (getting an Achilles Heel, promising to protect his sister, letting him shadow travel the Athena Parthenos to America, etc)
And Achelois is a minor moon goddess, which would explain why Nico and Bianca both got along with Artemis so well from the get go. Like, he hates the hunters, but he seems to not be able to hate Artemis. Also, in pjo she hates men a lot, but she seems to like Nico. Him being a descendant of a moon goddess would explain that
Thank you, and I hope you enjoyed this! Which god do you think Nico is a legacy of? I really like Bacchus or Somnus, but what are your opinions?

can we... know more about maria's parents? 👁️👄👁️
Laura, daughter of Victoria and Rafael, son of Letus (Thanatos)!
@ariihen and I have always joked/pushed around that idea that Nico is a Roman legacy in canonverse and dd-verse--but especially so in dd-verse. Since “Conquer or die” is a phrase that’s used by the Romans, we based Maria’s parents off that motto and basically said Victory or Death. Or in this case, victory and death!
Since Victory/Nike is kind of high strung, so is her daughter. Laura’s a sharp-tongued who has no patience for BS, and will throw hands if she needs to.
On the other hand, Rafael is a softer, gentler man since Letus/Thanatos’s realm is kind death. Since death is in his blood, we talked about how Rafael would have a low sperm count to begin with and Laurel probably miscarried a few time before they were finally able to have Maria, so they’re very protective of her.
Thus, Maria di Angelo, Legacy of Victoria and Letus was born with a kind father and a mom who told her never to take anything less than gold who’s a little kookie and zany, and it’s the Victoria in her that basically said, “Anyone can sleep with Jupiter/Zeus, who wants to do that? Has anyone tried to romance his wife?” (by proxy this is her attitude with literally any god in any AU that tries to romance her, she enjoys a challenge) and it’s the Death in her that makes her a little weird and say a bunch of double entendres Like, Zeus tried to romance her by taking her to the normal makeout spots and she wasn’t interested. He had to beg Hades and Poseidon to be Bros and let him take her to their realms and bc she wanted to see how cool the Underworld was and she was curious if anyone has tried to dissect a merman before (literally just think of Eclipsa from Star vs. the Forces of Evil and that’s how sweet/kookie she is)
When she fell in love with Hera, Laura congratulated Maria on winning her challenge but was not impressed with Hera bc the Queen of the Gods was not willing to marry her daughter. She also thinks that Hera’s cooking is subpar at best and “if you’re the goddess of family then why aren’t your kids running through the door?” and made Hera wear one of her aprons and use her hands to make pasta in the di Angelo household
Hera had to learn bc Maria can’t cook worth shit
Ironically, Hera’s need to impress Laura just puts Laura’s competitiveness into overdrive so that’s just a neverending battle for her
Rafael is just a chill dad; apparently Letus was known as kind and wanting to just sleep a lot; so he and his Type A wife really just balance each other out a lot. Laura made pasta, but Rafael made bone cookies for the Italian Day of the Dead and taught both Nico and Bianca how to make them. He really doesn’t care if Maria gets married or not, but he definitely cried both times his grandchildren were born bc he was worried that the di Angelo name would die with his genes
(he also doesn’t think Hera knows how to cook very well but he will eat what he was given)
This all started because ren and I joked that Percy would dress Nico up as his Italian grandmother to get the early bird senior citizen discount at the restaurants in New Rome, so he’d wear a gray wig, small spectacles, and a shawl made of Peacock feathers and Percy would parade Nonna Nicola around (i’m really hoping to bring this into the story at some point)
But another joke was that since Nico is a roman legacy, Laura would try to become a lar and protect the Fifth Cohort, so Thalia and Percy have just been listening to this crazy lady babbling on about her adorable grandchildren for a long time before Nico finally showed up. Laura has a soft spot for Nico bc he can carry on the family name
On the other hand, Rafael would be following Bianca around and supporting her shopping habits, and he has a soft spot for her bc she looks so much like Maria
Lastly, their names were chosen since laurels are a symbol of Victoria and Rafael means “Healing God,” or in the way it’s being depicted, the di Angelo patriarch is the “Healing Angel.”

Fragments of Jason's life before The Lost Hero.
.
His mother told him that she would be back, but it has been hours since he had last seen her and Thalia. He calls for them as he crawls through the Wolf House with his hands and feet. Then he starts to cry, and he feels his ordinary life, from his sister, his mother, tearing itself apart inside of him. As if his childhood is finally done, and a new life is ahead of him.
But still, Jason wishes to hold on, to hope that his mother and sister would come back for him. That fades when a lone howl pierces through his baby ears, and a figure steps out from the shadows.
Sadly, Jason wasn't afraid.
Sadly, Jason Grace was taken away from his old home to a new one with the wolves.
And the cycle continues.
Life with the wolves had been fun. Frolicking in the house where his mother and sister left him, spending the day in the woods trying to catch prey.
Lupa is quite a mother wolf, a strict one, but still a mother whom he barely remembers.
Finally, after months of training, Jason Grace at age three is now ready to face on the cruel world to find Camp Jupiter.
To say he didn't look back was not true. He did look back, to see another kid older than him being taught by the same wolves he considered as a family.
His family of wolves seem to have moved on like the family he barely remembered as a child.
They all look up at him, Jason Grace.
Jason Grace.
Son of Jupiter.
Jason Grace.
The King of the God's son, everyone says.
The son of a no good Dad, he wishes to say, but those words were stuck in his throat, refusing to come out.
He wonders if he'll just become like his father, which is his worst nightmare.
Instead of joining the First Cohort like everyone expected him to be, he joins the Fifth Cohort, filled with what they say, the sea of nobodies.
It's good to be a nobody.
The first time he got his mark, it hurts like Hades. There was a brilliant flash of light... and it's there now.
The eagle, symbolizing his father, the SPQR, and a line representing his first year.
The others say he'll get used to the pain.
He already did.
He just chooses to feel numb.
Being marked was supposed to be the most special time. It means that he is fully accepted into the legion, into the arms of the cohorts. He isn't a probatio anymore; he never is treated as one.
They try to make him join their cohorts.
Anything other than the Fifth Cohort.
And he just glares, because he knows they're not being any fair to the members of the Fifth Cohort.
Bigots.
Bullies. He hates them. He hates them all.
They think they're so high and mighty, picking on the younger probatios, but just one glare from Jason Grace and they'll be running another way.
Jason's just a kid.
A six year old.
Ten year olds run away from him.
Jason Grace tries to become a blank slate one time, resulting in him hearing most of the conversation of the bullies he had driven away.
"The Fifth Cohort thinks they're so powerful, just because Jason Grace is with them", one says.
"Just wait until Jason Grace realizes what he's done wrong and leave the Fifth Cohort", another one says.
Fury engulfs Jason. He didn't know what he was doing, unaware.
He didn't know he summoned lightning and killed three people on the spot.
He isn't a blank slate anymore.
Therapists are common in New Rome, of course. Some descendants of the gods had been involved in wars or had been put through many traumatizing moments throughout their life.
Jason thinks he doesn't count as any of those people.
He doesn't even know what war is supposed to be like.
No one here knows how much damage a war will cost.
"All right Jason", the therapist says in a warm voice, just like all the other therapists before her. "I want you to tell me what you have learned the past year in Camp Jupiter."
It was such a simple question. Jason didn't know where every thing went wrong.
"That the Fifth Cohort is the best cohort anyone has ever seen", Jason says nonchalantly.
The therapist nods slowly. Sooner or later she'll give up on him, like all the others. "Anything else."
"Everyone who tries to say other wise are bigots."
"Mister Grace, your language."
"What is even the point of this? To see if you think I regret killing those assholes a year ago."
The therapist nods. "Yes. You should be ashamed of yourself. We would've sentenced you to death-"
"But you don't want to, since I'm a son of Jupiter, is that right?"
The therapist doesn't reply.
It was his eighth birthday today, and everyone from all cohorts gave him a simple phrase of Happy Birthday.
No one asked him if he was fine.
No one dared ask him what happened in the ward.
He just wants to talk to someone, anyone.
He was elevated to a centurion of the Fifth Cohort, along with Dakota.
Together they kill bassilisks in the temples, and lead the war games with their comrades.
Jason is the reason why sometimes, the Fifth Cohort always win in the war games.
Twelfth Legion doesn't bring pride to Jason at all.
He has no idea to why everyone would be okay to be called 'the twelfth best legion'.
Now that he's a centurion, maybe he can change the minds of the campers of Camp Jupiter.
Rename it to First Legion, he says.
They're hesitant.
He knows why.
Only Octavian stands in the way.
He has no Roman pride.
He only has pride within himself.
Octavian was handpicked as the augur and it made Jason's blood boil.
How could he become an augur? Why had their praetors done this? Do they know how much political power and blackmail Octavian has?
Maybe that's why.
The praetors were also scared by his absolute power.
Jason cannot let him be a praetor given a time.
Then a marvelous and life threatening idea looms over his head.
Yes.
That's how it's going to be.
Jason is standing over Octavian's lying body, blankets covering most of it.
Jason was holding his ILVIS sword, tightly too.
He's going to kill Octavian.
He's going to do it.
He trudges over the legacy of Apollo's bed, but something stops him.
Jason regrets stopping because after that Octavian yells something about murder.
He jumps off the window and into the night.
Fuck you hesitation.
Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano.
That's her name.
A daughter of the war goddess Bellona.
That's nice.
She loves Diocletian as much as he does, and they'd stare at portraits everyday while getting lost at the subject of history.
That's good.
She's also his first friend.
That's the best news.
Reyna's been acting strange lately.
After that little quest, their relationship was never the same.
What did that woman do to Reyna?
Sure, they were still talking, but Reyna seems to be distant, as if thinking of something.
Being wary around Jason Grace.
But Jason tries not to give up, trying to still rebuild their friendship.
"So, you're Bryce Lawrence." Jason looks at the boy with the mix of disgust and indignance.
This-this no good son of Orcus really thinks that a little murder is entertainment.
He should've been dead, but his family is one of the most influential families in all of New Rome.
They can't just execute him and face his angry relatives.
But he was a goddamn psychopath.
Gods, Jason already hates him.
A lot of Roman campers have been missing lately.
The praetors said that they were rewarded a quest by the augur.
But they don't come back after a week.
Jason sighs as he flips his coin, transforming it to a sword.
He's going to find those campers and bring them back here.
Jason didn't know what got into him.
One moment, he was fighting a dracaena and another moment he was fighting one of his own kin, a demigod.
But the demigod isn't Roman.
He said he was a son of Hermes.
And he looks a lot like him.
Who is he?
And how could he do this to his Roman kind?
"Join me, Jason", he says.
Luke.
His name is Luke.
"Together we can tear Olympus apart stone by stone!"
Jason shoots lightning at him, but he seems unharmed.
At the end of the day, he fed the traitor Romans to the sharks.
Nico.
Nico di Angelo.
That was the Ambassador of Pluto's name.
People were wary of him.
Jason? He wasn't wary of Nico.
Finally, a cousin.
He seems secretive, but that's alright.
Jason has a lot of secrets.
And one day Nico brings Hazel, also a child of Pluto.
He cherishes them both.
There's a battle.
And he's in it.
Everyone is in it.
Against the Titan Kronos who has escaped from Tartarus.
He didn't tell anyone about that Greek demigod.
But before they go to New York, they have to face Krios first in Mount Othyrs.
It's going to be a long battle.
Their praetors are dead, and many are wounded.
Everyone is panicking, and Jason and Reyna tries to stop them from that.
Reyna comes up with battle tactics, and Jason is quite proud of her.
They march into Krios' domain, where they're faced with a dragon and the Hesperides.
Reyna kills them singlehandedly as the legion descends into battle.
Jason reaches Krios, and that is where it gets messy.
Hand-to-hand combat.
Why is Jason so impulsive?
His face burns.
His legs are tiring.
His right arm is broken.
And the entire legion is watching them, weapons ready.
They want to see if he lives or dies.
He looks up at the sky as he finally kneels for what felt like years, exhaling.
His lungs are burning.
His heart is beating too fast for his own good.
He feels blood on his face, and his eyes hurt.
He finally prays to his dad for the first time in his life.
And he's overcome with strength he had when he and the Romans scaled Mount Othyrs.
Krios is disintegrating, slowly but surely. He growls, but Jason just kicks him in the face.
"Who even are you?", Krios spits out.
Jason smirks. "I'm Jason fucking Grace bitch. And you'll remember me for centuries."
He watches Krios fully disintegrate with a self satisfied smirk.
And he faces his comrades, all full of amazement or intimidation.
Reyna starts to clap.
Sooner or later everyone starts clapping.
They made him and Reyna praetors of the first legion.
He dreams.
He dreams of his achievements, of his mother and sister, of his family.
But something is still missing.
In all his life, he never called anything a 'home', or a 'family'.
Even in Camp Jupiter, where it was supposed to feel at home, he never feels like it.
He finds Juno staring at him with a smile.
No.
He cannot be used as a pawn ever again.
Juno chuckles.
"It is your time now, little hero. Your destiny awaits."
No.
NEVER AGAIN.
Who is he again?
Where is he?
What is he doing here in a bus, in the middle of wilderness?
He feels something warm on his hand, and he looks over to see-
The most beautiful girl he's ever met.
And, suddenly, he feels a pang of hope, that maybe, just maybe, he will find a home and family.
Maybe is a strong word.
"Jason? Are you alright?"
