dream team back. weâre currently yapping central again (per usual)
both of us are straight up in a tim drake brainrot spiral too!!! heâs a delightful little weirdo. a strange little gentleman if you will.
tim is such a funny little guy!!! he also makes a solid yandere. you canât outsmart him. you canât escape someone who can find everything about you. On the upside, I feel like heâd be happy to spoil his darling. also heâd be like, really considerate in weird ways??? I mean like you donât get privacy (or you get the illusion of it maybe but not actual privacy.)
like yeah youâre always being watched in some way, but the man has committed every single one of your favorites and least favorites to memories. He knows what clothing you like, what specific features you look for in everything, and if he doesnât, by god, will he learn. He knows your favorite song, and he knows the nickname you went by in elementary school.
Do you think he pretends to be normal and basically sets things up to send reader to be like a little love story?? You meet by chance, and he fell first. He fell a LONG time ago, so now itâs his mission to make you fall too. And Tim Drake ALWAYS finishes a mission. (Even as a baby daddy candidate). He makes himself the best option, even if heâs not the father.

A/N: Sooooo, I'm finally and slowly going through my ask box and you two may have sparked an idea just for Tim. I might have to do a Part Two for this. (I'm falling into the WIP trap. Help!) But, I love the thought of the Bat Family have competition when it comes to their darling. Gives them a challenge. Plus, I really wanted to use Aiden Cobblepot for this. I've been wanting to sneak him into something.
A/N: We have neglected!Sib!Reader, but what about a Neglected!Friend!Reader? Fun idea. Tim already knowing everything about you only to find youâve changed and wants to study you all over again. Only this time heâs keeping you! (Iâm very fond of Tim. I think heâs difficult to write for me, but I enjoy the little stalker so much.)
Warnings: Yandere Themes, Romantic themes, Tim can be read as kinda platonic, GN!Reader
âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸
You and Tim were once good friends. Well, he was your best friend. To him you were just a good one. High school buddies that would hang out all the time. At school only. And sometimes the rare gala you saw him at. It was rare you ever actually went to The Manor. You never asked to go. But, you had hoped to be invite.
Just like you had hoped that he might reciprocate that pesky crush you had on him back then. You had felt like it was so painfully obvious. Though it wasn't as painful when you finally figured out he was Red Robin and you waited and waited for him to tell you his secret identity. And, then you would tell him you already figured it out and you would look so cool.
Only, he never did. You both grew distant. You had put so much carful effort into keeping that distance from growing. Inviting him to hang out more. Asking him out for casual coffee. He always said the same thing.
"Oh, damn. I could really go for that right now. But, I'm just sorta busy. Next time though. For sure."
Over and over. He sounded like a broken character. Repeating the same phrase. One that you would hang around after the game was over to reminisce about all the fun adventures you both once had. However this was life not a game. You couldn't just restart and rerun the same adventures.
It made you ache when you finally moved on. When you finally pulled away. Because, Tim didn't even notice you were gone. His life to change. He didn't have to restart anything. You had lost your best friend and he didn't even care. It stung. It stung more than you realizing he'd never reciprocate your feelings.
But, like all things, time moves on and so do you. Leaving the past behind and starting a new game. One that you start to flourish in. Making new friends. Meeting new people. Building closer bonds and more healthy friendships. It had been interesting to realize how dependent you had been on Tim once upon a time. And, embarrassing. You can't help looking back on it with a wince. You almost want to reach out and apologize. But, that would be weird and you both live completely separate lives now. You hardly ever see him at galas now. Mostly because you don't go anymore.
Things, do change. You never expected your new partner would draw Tim's attention back to you. And, in such a terrible way.
You had a rough idea of what you were getting into when Aiden Cobblepot had asked you out to dinner. You figured he was only interested in you for your money or your half-decent looks or your family name and position. You had heard all the rumors about him, but still you went. Mostly, because you knew how dangerous he and his family were. And, you were⌠presently surprised.
He was a bit of an entitled asshole. But, he wasn't scared of getting dirty. You watched him lead you through the puddles of rain water and Gotham grim in the posh restaurant. He held more concern for you're clothing getting dirty than his, which were more expensive than yours. He paid for the date without flinching at the price. Encouraged you to try his own food from his plate. Talked about fond memories of the things he and his sister got up to as children while asking you about your own childhood.
Admittedly, you were easily seduced because after that the two of you became an item. You didn't even realize how official you were until he introduced you to his sister, Addison, and she was actually nice to you. Extremely nice. She did, however, threaten to kill you if you betrayed Aiden in any way, which was honestly fair enough.
Aiden and you were a bit on the opposite side of things, taste wise and morally wise. But, you both made it work. He continued his life of crime, but made no mention of it around you to keep you legally clean. You shared most of your life with him, letting him have a slight glimmer into normalcy. He liked to take you on fancy dates and show you a good time. You were happy to pull him inside just to spend personal time with each other. Of course, you both made compromises. Aiden had a taste for luxury, and you didn't mind indulging in it. Especially after you beat his ass multiple times in Mario cart. It was only fair you let him take you to a gala some point.
Little did you know that that was how Tim would come clawing and digging his way back into your life.
âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸
For Tim seeing you again was like finding an old precious treasure. His life had gotten so difficult and complicate lately that just a reminded of all those old times was nice.
However, seeing you on the arms of the Penguin's son was a brutal wake up call. What were you doing? Had you hit your head? Was he blackmailing you? Drugging you? Everyone in Gotham could recognize the name Cobblepot and how dangerous they are. And, he remembers how smart you were so you couldn't have willing chose to be there. It's not logical.
For your safety, he reintroduces himself to you. Long time, no see. We should hang out some time and catch up. Only he means it. He can't let this happen. He can't let you fall in with a man like that. You're his friend. He'll win you over for your own sake. Ruin Cobblepot while he's at it because how dare he use you.
Even if you changed. Even if you don't smell the same. If your hair is different. If you dress different. Even if your very laugh had changed pitch, he knows you. And, if anything, he can just re-learn you all over again. It won't take long. He's done it all before. This time he'll savor though. This time he won't let you go as he pulls you back in. You were a good friend, this time he'll make you more.

A/N: Iâm starting to type up Part Three of Pregant!Reader, but I ended up coming up with another start to it with more drama that would be strictly for the BatBoys. The messed up drama in it sounds fun and challenging, but I wonât do it until I finish what I started with the blurbs I have planned included.
A/N: Smalltown!Meta!Reader Part Nine is going to take a while. I have big plans for it, but Pregnant!Reader is kinda outshining it.
A/N: I will post about the LoungeSinger!Reader and another idea I came up with that yâall might like that Iâll add to the concept list.
A/N: Thereâs a Tony Part Two coming, but itâs only halfway typed and still not that yandere-y. Need to fix that.
A/N: My asks box is full, so Iâm gonna try to empty it, but I host Thanksgiving in my family and Iâm also a Christmas nut, so Iâm gonna be busy. (I have four Christmas trees in my house currently⌠But Iâm not as bad as my in-laws! They had their trees up BEFORE Halloween.)

BAD ADVICE | s. nagi
synopsis: nagi gives you terrible advice... authors note: boy am I punctual. this series is so fun to write. i hope you all enjoy! I have one last part planned with isagi as the main li so... that will probably be out this weekend sometime :) wc: 3.2k cw: fluff, possibly ooc!nagi click here for my masterlist!
-----------------------------------------
Youâd been rotting in your bed for the past few hours. The embarrassing moment replaying over and over again. You pulled your pillow over your head and squeezed your eyes shut. You could kill Seishiro Nagi. Actually strangle him for the irreparable damage he has done to you.Â
There was a boy you liked in school. He was a grade above you. He was aloof and reserved, tall and handsome. Youâd gone to a few of his soccer matches at school and when youâd watch him play your heart would soar through the roof of your mouth, an embarrassing display as your eyes lit up. You liked him a lot. And it just so happened that he played on the same team as a childhood friend, Nagi. Youâd known Nagi for years⌠you played in the sandbox with him. He was your first kiss during hide and seek when you were eight. You had a crush on him for the longest time but⌠your feelings didnât really seem reciprocated since he sort of treated you like a little sister. He lived two houses over and sometimes you would ride home with him and vice versa. You had a history, a long history. Nagi would help you⌠surely.Â
You clambered down to the field as the boys soccer team ran off. The boy you liked walked at a leisurely pace, he hadnât even broken a sweat during the game. Your heart swooned just at the sight. You stepped in his path, hoping to introduce yourself when suddenly an arm slung around your shoulders, pulling you a bit off kilter. You fell into Nagi.Â
âHey, take me home.â He yawns, practically hanging off of you. You watched the boy you like stroll by and huffed.Â
âHey take me home please.â You corrected sharply as Nagi just laughed.Â
âYeah, please.â He adds more as an appeasement than anything. You sighed, you missed your chance, again.
âCome on then.â You groaned and stalked off towards the parking lot, Nagiâs hot body still glued to yours. You pushed at him. âCome on, let go! Youâre all sweaty.â
âDid you watch me play?â He asks, ignoring your words. âThat final goal?â To be honest your eyes were glued to his teammate the entire time soâŚ
âI missed it.â You said and felt the tall boy slump against you.Â
âSeriously? Whatâre you doing in those stands?â He asks, you werenât going to answer that truthfully because itâs Nagi thatâs been asking you to come to his games and if you told him you were distracted that would probably hurt his feelings.Â
âIâm sorry, you guys were crushing the other team so I went to get a pretzel.â You lie and luckily Nagi seems satiated by that.Â
âDidnât save me any?â He teased, hand sliding in your coat pocket. You gasped, giggling as you smacked his hand away.Â
âNo! I didnât!âÂ
âHow inconsiderate.â He groaned, leaning on you so heavily he about took you both to the concrete.Â
âNagi!â You barked, hand sliding around his hip to stabilize you both. âYouâre like a horse sized sloth!â That made Nagi laugh slightly, holding up some of his own weight as he ruffled your hair.Â
âYou owe me dinner.â He said as you fished out your car keys. You looked at him incredulously as he unlatched himself from you, walking off to the passenger side.Â
âI donât owe you anything.â You barked.Â
âDonât be a hassle. You missed my cool shot then rubbed your pretzel in my face.âÂ
âI didnât-â you were cut off by Nagi slipping in and shutting the door to your car. You groaned as you yanked your door open. âYouâre an ass.â
âAnd calling me names.â Nagi replies drowsily as he leans back in the seat, already closing his eyes.Â
âYouâre impossible.â You huffed, turning on your car. Nagi was out by the time you turned out of the parking lot and slept soundly the short drive home. When you pulled into your driveway he perked up.Â
âHey⌠what happened to getting food?â He asked, voice soft from sleep.Â
âSnooze you lose.â You say, flicking off your car. Nagi pouts as you get out of the car.Â
âYour mom home?â He asks as you roll your eyes.Â
âSheâs not, so no poaching our dinner.â
âYour house has good snacks.â He points out, slipping out of your car following you to your front door.Â
âYouâre like a parasite, latching onto me.â You huff but let him follow you inside anyways. After cooking some instant noodles you and Nagi sit on the couch, leisurely watching something he picked. Some game tournaments he found on YouTube.Â
âSo⌠youâre teammate⌠Rin⌠does he haveâ someone?â You ask, trying to sound natural but failing as Nagi looks over at you with a strange face.Â
âHave someone?â He echoes, a sort of amused expression forming. You looked away instantly, blushing.Â
âIâm asking for a friend.â You say but the words sound silly even to your ears.Â
âA friend, huh? Which one? Itâs not the mean one right? Cause I think Isagiâs got a thing for her-â
âStop calling her the mean one. And she would be mean if she heard you say that.â You replied. âNow can you answer the question?â
âI donât know. He barely talks.â Nagi answers, taking a large bite of his noodles, spilling a bit of the broth in his shirt. âBoring sort of guy.âÂ
âHe doesnât seem boring.â
âIs that so?â Nagi prods and you catch yourself, blushing. âYou know Iâm starting to think I know this friend better than I thought.âÂ
âShut up.â
âJeez, seriously?â Nagi sits up, setting his bowl on the coffee table. âY/nâŚâ he almost sounded disappointed.Â
âWhat!â You chirped, embarrassed.Â
âYouâre not slick.â Nagi yawns.Â
âOkay⌠whatever⌠Iâm the friend.â You shrug.Â
âYeah, I know. But Itoshi? Really? Have you ever even spoken to him before?â
âNo! You keep interjecting.â You groan. Nagiâs quiet for a moment as you look over at him. He runs a hand through his hair.Â
âYou want my help?â
ââŚYes.â You concede.Â
âGo all out. Put yourself out there. The dudes gloomy, he might like it.â Nagi sighs. You sit up slightly.Â
âYou think so?â You ask as Nagi shrugs his shoulders. âAlright⌠thanks for the advice.â
~
Famous last words. Things did not go to plan whatsoever. You did as Nagi said. You went all out and in return you got hit with âwhoâre you?â. Probably top three most embarrassing moments of your life. The worst part of it was⌠Rin was right. You hadnât talked to him much if at all. You built this fantasy up in your head and jumped at the smallest lifeboat Nagi had given you only for it to sink under your weight. Why the hell would someone as aloof and quiet as Rin Itoshi like a big show of affection? You felt like an idiot for even believing in Nagi.Â
âOkay⌠yeah it was embarrassing but seriously itâs fine, Y/n. Everyone will forget by Monday.â A friend of yours reassured you over the phone later that night, the mean one as Nagi had so lovingly called her.Â
âYou didnât see it, the silence in the hallway⌠god I wonât be able to sleep.â
âYouâre dramatic.â Your friend huffed. âLook, you put yourself out there, how many people can say they did that?âÂ
âI shouldnât have done it at all! God Iâm such an idiot. I bet Rin and Nagi are laughing it up as we speak. Especially Nagi, that Judas.â You hissed as your friend laughed.Â
âI donât even think Rin Itoshi knows how to laugh. Besides, I'm not sure why you would listen to Nagiâs advice in the first place.âÂ
âHeâs a childhood friend! I thought heâd have my back.âÂ
âMaybe he thought it would work.â You could hear the well restrained laughter in her tone. You sat up.Â
âYouâve seen Isagi today, right? Did he say anything?â You knew it was a stretch. Your friend and Isagi had a sort of⌠rocky relationship. One you really didnât understand. Nagi assumed Isagi had a thing for your friend and although that could be true your friend felt very strong negative emotions towards him.
âDo you want me to hit you? The only reason I talk to that know-it-all ball kicker is for student council purposes.â She returned sharply. Yeah⌠it was a stretch.Â
âIâm not sure what you and Isagi do could be considered as talking but-â
âI mean it. I will hit you.â
âI believe you.â You smirked, glad you had called your friend because she had helped you cheer up at least a little bit. Your front doorbell chimed as you startled. Your mom was working late and it was too late for any of the neighbors. âHey, Iâll call later.â You said, hanging up the phone. You tossed it on your bed and winded your way through the house towards the front door. All you could hear was the gentle pats of rain just outside the door. You peered through the peephole and sighed heavily as you spotted Nagi outside the door. He was the absolute last person you wanted to talk to right now. You turned, pressing your back to the door, closing your eyes as the events of today played in your mind again. It reignited that fire as you whipped around, yanking the door open. Nagi startled at the suddenness of the door.Â
âYou absolute asshole!â You growled, reaching and yanking the tall boy into your house. Nagi was wet from the rain, his hair wet like a dogs as she slammed the door shut behind him.
âJesus, whatâs wrong?â Nagi asked as you whirled on him.
âWhatâs wrong? Whatâs wrong!â You parroted as Nagi stared at you, blinking and confused. âYou didnât hear? Iâm sure I was the laughing stock of school.â
âDidnât hear what?â Nagi asked calmly, in fact his nonchalance had you seconds away from ripping the hair from his head.
âYour advice! It fucking sucked!â You hissed as Nagi raised a brow and pursed his lips in thought. He had no idea what you were talking about. âIâm surprised the boys on your team werenât talking about it.â You threw up your hands in defeat.
âMost of the guys skipped today because of the weather. I stayed for a bit but got sick of listening to Isagi flirt with that mean friend of yours.â Nagi groaned, pushing past you as he stripped off his jacket, kicking off his shoes.
âWhatâre you doing?â You asked incredulously. âYou arenât welcome here!â
âDid you make anything for dinner?â Nagi asked over his shoulder, ignoring you as he walked towards the kitchen.
âSeishiro Nagi.â You growled, that stopped him in his tracks. He looked back with a stricken look on his face.
âGeez, whatâs wrong?â He asked, you slowly approached him with a strained smile.
âThe advice you gave me about Rin was shit. I put myself out there and he turned me down.â
âI couldâve told you that.â Nagi shrugged. You grabbed the front of his shirt.
âI have had it up to here with you. Please get the fuck out.â You hissed, seething with anger. Nagi stared at you for a moment, it was possible he was deciding if you were actually angry or messing with him but when you didnât crack a smile he finally understood the seriousness. He reached up and placed a gentle, warm hand over yours.
âSorry. I thought you were-... What happened? I didnât hear anything at school.â He explained calmly. You yanked your hand out of his.
âItâs like I said! You gave me shit advice and I completely embarrassed myself in front of most of the school, Nagi. It was humiliating.â You fumed, cheeks blushing at the memory of it.Â
âSo he turned you down, so what?â
âSo what?â You echoed, running a hand down your face. âYou know what. Forget it. You donât understand. Please just leave.â You waved your hand in defeat as he caught your hand again.
âI⌠donât get why itâs such a big deal.â
âI like him, Nagi! And now I've completely embarrassed myself in front of him⌠heâll never look at me the same.â
âHe didnât look at you before.â
âAre you actively trying to make me never speak to you again?â
âYou never talked to him before, Y/n. Youâve only seen him play. Who cares what he thinks?â
âI care!â You groan as he suddenly tugs you to him, you stumble slightly, surprised.Â
âHeâs nothing! Sure heâs good at soccer but heâs a maniac about the sport. Heâs a hassle. He wouldnât be good for you anyways.â Nagi explains and you canât remember the last time he seemed so⌠passionate about something. He always seemed chill, cool headed. He was heating up the same as you.Â
âI donât want to talk about this anymore.â You pushed away from him and this time he didnât reach for you again. âJust please go.â He stared at you and you couldnât find it in yourself to meet his eyes. Not this time. There was something different in the air between you both.Â
âIâm sorry.â Nagi said softly. You swallowed, your eyes shooting up to meet him. You didnât expect an apology from him. You had expected him to leave. âI gave you shit advice.â You almost laughed, but your dramatics couldnât let you find humor in this moment. âOn purpose.â He finished as your lips fell open in surprise.Â
âWhat?â You asked, taking a step towards him.
âI did it on purpose.â He repeated.
âI heard you. Why would you do that?â You asked sharply, eyes searching his guilty face. Nagi sighed exhaustedly.Â
âI didnât think youâd ask him so publicly.âÂ
âNagi.â You admonished as he sighed again.Â
âDo you really not know?â He asked, running a hand over his face as he leaned against the wall, all long legs and dramatics.Â
âKnow what?âÂ
âCome on. Arenât I supposed to be the oblivious one?â He asked and you wanted to pinch him. He sighed once again. âThis is such a hassle.âÂ
âYou love that word.â You grumbled annoyed.Â
âI invite you to all my games. I try to have dinner with you whenever I can. I ride with you to school as often as possible.â He lists off.
âOkay?â
âOkay?â He mocks as you narrow your eyes. âI like you, Y/n. Iâve liked you since we were eight. Seriously? You didnât know?â He throws up his hands in frustration. You blinked. And blinked again. You sucked in a breath, almost forgetting how to breathe. You stared at him, processing everything he just said.
âYou annoy the shit out of me! You gave me shit advice because you like me! Why didnât you just say you liked me!â You argued, reaching over and pinching him. He jumps, sucking in a gasp at your pinch.
âOuch!â He whined, rubbing the spot. You didnât pinch him that hard as you rolled your eyes. âI didnât⌠I didnât want to ruin things by up and telling you⌠I was-- trying to find a romantic moment!â He argued back.Â
âRomantic moment?â You echoed.
âUh huh! I was hoping youâd see my sick goal last night and Iâd run over and tell you.â He explains and you canât help it, you dissolve into laughter.Â
âGeez, how romantic.â You breathe out in between giggles. Nagi just stares down at you, red faced and pouting.Â
âThere⌠thereâs been so many times Iâve wanted to tell you⌠but it never seemed right. Then you started talking about Rin and I justâŚâ Nagi sighs, running a hand down his face. âIâm sorry I embarrassed you. If⌠if you want I can talk with him.â
âYouâd do that?â You ask, voice soft. He met your eyes and the hurt that lined them was palpable, but he nodded his head.
âItâs the least I can do.âÂ
You thought about letting him squirm but the hurt in his eyes was too much. You didnât have the heart to tease him or play with his heart, not when heâd been such a good friend to you most of your life.
âForget it.â You waved slightly. âYou're right. I donât really know him.â His eyes found yours and for the first time you felt something charge in the air. You hadnât thought about Nagi as more than a friend for the longest time but⌠something about it had your heart speeding. âNagi?â
âHm?âÂ
âAre you serious? About liking me?â You asked as Nagiâs cheeks blushed, despite his effort to keep a cool facade. He nodded his head and suddenly the hall you two were arguing in felt tighter. You averted your eyes and chewed softly on your bottom lip. There had never really been an awkward moment between you and Nagi before but right now it was unbearable.Â
âIs that⌠okay?â
âUh huh.â You hummed nervously, fiddling with your hands. You couldnât look up at him, you just couldnât. This was the second most embarrassing thing to happen today. âAre you gonna look at me?â He asked and you could hear the smirk on his tone. He shouldnât be the one smirking, he should be the nervous one! He was the one that confessed after all! Your eyes shot up to meet him. Sure enough he was smirking. Damn him.
âWhat the hell is so funny?â
âYouâre blushing.â
âYouâre blushing!â You argued, pointing at his face but again he caught your hand and this time when he tugged you forwards his other hand slid across your cheek into your hair. You knew enough to close your eyes as his lips crashed assuredly into yours. Nagi was a lot of things, he was lazy most of the time. Tired and annoying. And you werenât sure if heâd ever kissed anyone before but⌠he kissed exactly how he played on that field, like a pro. What an ass! He was good at everything. He pulled you closer and pressed your back into the wall kissing you as though heâd die if he parted from your lips. It was a lightheaded inducing kiss. You had three kisses in your life. Of course Nagi when you were eight but⌠it was less than a peck. Then there was the boy from middle school who kissed you during a dance. That was little more than a peck. Then the boy you dated two years ago. He moved away two weeks after your one year anniversary. He was a good kisser, though you had nothing at the time to weigh it against. Now⌠you did. That boy before⌠was nothing like Nagi. It felt weird to even think about it since you two had been friends for so long but⌠really. This was⌠something different. This was the kind of kiss that pop girls wrote about in their love songs. The kind of kiss youâd dream about for years to come.Â
âWhereâs your head at?â Nagi asked against your lips, his voice low and breathy, it sent a shiver down your spine.Â
âIâm thinking⌠you need to kiss me again.â
âMhm,â He hummed amusedly, nodding his head. âYes maâam.âÂ

Hello, I hope that I'm not too late for a small request for the NRC family interaction. But still do want to ask for a req for Azul Ashengrotto and Jamil Vipver to interact with Najma Viper. I could already imagine how chaotic it would be already.
Oml, Jamilâs worst nightmare would be if Najma developed a crush on Azul đ He would so go protective big brother mode⌠I didnât decide to do that for this interaction though, itâs just a funny thought I had.
Family means Nobody is Left Behind or Forgotten.
âOya, is that my dear friend Jamil-san over there?â
That voice. That ever-so grating voice, trilling out his name so sweetly. Immediately, Jamil wished to retreat into his hoodie like a turtle to a shell and die there.
Alas, he could do no such thingânot when he was trapped among several milling bodies, his younger sister in tow. Najma had heard and glanced over her shoulder. She locked eyes with the approaching octopus and arched an eyebrow as she tugged on her brotherâs sleeve.
âHmm? Hey, Jamil. Thereâs a guy in glasses headed this way and waving. It sounds like he wants your attention,â she pointed out.
âI know,â he hissed back, already starting to powerwalk away from Azul. And thatâs just what Iâm afraid of.
âArenât you going to at least say hi? Itâd be rude to straight up ignore him.â
Jamil internally cursed. All that nagging from their parents about etiquette and how to show hospitality had been well and truly drilled into him as well as into her. Now it came back to bite him like a loose snake where it smarted the most.
âPlease. He isnât worth my breathâor the trouble.â
âJamil-san! Please wait.â
To his dismay, Najma stopped dead in her tracks. âI really think you should greet him before you go.â
He gaped at her. âYouâre joking.â
âSevens, why are you being so weird about this?â She rolled her eyes. Then, cupping her hands around her mouth, she called out to Azul. Jamilâs stomach sank. âH~eeeeey! Jamil onii-chanâs friend! Itâs nice to meet you. Iâm his adorable little sister, Najma.â
He frowned. âSince when am I Jamil onii-chan? And since when are you my adorable little sister?â
âSince now,â she muttered back.
âAhhh, itâs a pleasure to finally meet you,â Azul crooned. He took Najmaâs hand and shook it. âAzul Ashengrotto, at your service. Iâm a classmate of your brotherâs, as well as dorm leader of Octavinelle and manager of the student-run on-campus eatery, Mostro Lounge.â
âOh, wow!! That sounds so cool.â
âHeâs humble bragging,â Jamil said flatly, folding his arms. â⌠What do you want, Azul?â
âIs that any way to greet your beloved bosom buddy?â He sighed, shrugging his hands up. âI only wanted to check in with you and make sure that you were enjoying Family Day.â
âDonât say that. Itâs disgustingâand patently false.â
Jamilâs eyes sharpened into pointed daggers. Heâs surely sniffing around for weak points. If he cannot glean them from me, then he intends to pry those secrets from Najma. I wonât allow that to come to pass.
He gripped his little sisterâs hand tightly and tugged on it. âI believe this concludes the obligatory pleasantries. Come along, Najma. We must get going to our next meeting.â
âBoo, youâre no fun,â she pouted, yanking back. âYouâd seriously rather go to a boring old meeting than chat with a friend?â
âDonât be difficult. Youâre not visiting to make social calls, youâre here on business.â
âBut youâre not attempting to socialize at all. Geez, youâre not putting anything you learned at home to practice, are you?â
âI am plenty!! Iâm just selective about where and when to apply those teachingsâas should you.â
âWhat a deep bond you have with your sister, Jamil-san. You fuss over her like a mother hen,â Azul chuckled, pushing his glasses up. âWhy, as an only child, it warms my heart to see this kind of camaraderie. I shall have to commit this to memory.â
A heart? he scoffed. A cold, slimy one, perhaps.
Jamil shot Azul a frigid glare. âDo NOT.â
âOh? But what is so wrong with appreciating a tender moment of bickering between siblings? Itâs something I could never hope to experience myself.â
âYeah, yeah, Jamil! Youâre so totally being mean to your classmate for no good reason. Donât you feel any shame?â
âAre you taking his side in this?!â he demanded of his sister.
âSo what if I am?â
âMy, my, Najma-san!â Azul suddenly wedged himself between the Vipers like an octopus slipping into the crack of a rock. His smile was annoyingly broad and simpering. âIt seems that you and I are kindred spirits.â
âYup! Looks like we are,â Najma agreed, an equally unsettling smile creeping onto her face.
Jamil paled. I donât like where this is goingâŚ
âThen it is clear what we must do.â
âYeah, itâs so obvious.â
They both turned to Jamil. The dread in his stomach spiked, hitting his peak, then sailed past it. He could feel his blood pressure shooting up too.
âWe should bully him!â

couples quiz
summary: you and marcello are the featured guests on the upcoming episode of the GQ "couples quiz." requested by anonymous. marcello x female!singer reader. this ended up being quite long, but i hope you enjoy! <3
âand there we go! you look stunning.â your makeup artist said to you.
âthanks to you.â you smiled at them. you were on set with GQ, getting ready to film a video with them. theyâd invited you and marcello you partake in one of their âcouples quizâ videos, and the two of you jumped at the opportunities.
you were led to the set, taking your seat as you waited for marcello to join you. he smiled at you has he walked over to you, pressing a kiss to your cheek before taking his seat across from you.
âyou guys ready?â the producer asked, and you both nodded.Â
âso ready.â you said with a smile, as some members from the crew handed you your question cards.
they counted down, and began rolling, you and marcello putting on your best faces and beginning the video.
âhey there, iâm y/n l/n,â
âand iâm marcello hernĂĄndez,â
âand this is the GQ couples quiz.â you said in unison.
âalright, who wants to start?â you asked.Â
âladies first.â marcello said with a smile.
âwell then, alright.â you settled the question cards in your hands, reading him the first one. âokay, this is a simple one to get us started. what is my favorite nickname for you?â you asked.Â
âyou call me cello a lot. or cellito, if youâre feeling flirtier than normal. but youâre also very heavy on the babe or baby. sometimes honey, which i personally love.â
âhmm, good to know.â you laughed before moving on to the next question. âoh, this is a good one. what was the first song i ever played for you?â
âi donât want to give too much away, because as far as i know, itâs unreleased, yeah?â he asked, and you nodded.
âit is.âÂ
âbut, i can say that you wrote it shortly after we made it official. so, almost four years ago. and, itâs about me.â he said, with a smirk to the camera.
âthat is correct. at this point, iâm not sure i wanna release it, and instead just keep it between the two of us.â you said to the camera. you then moved on to the next question. âwhat is my favorite date weâve been on?âÂ
âooh, i know this one real well, because you tell this story all the time to people we meet.â he laughed, and you blushed. âit was when we were first dating, we were both in LA for work, and had coinciding days off. i took you to griffith park, we had a picnic, and we made friendship bracelets for each other with our initials on them. then, after lunch, we drove up mulholland, parked at one of the overlooks, and laid on the hood of our car while we watched the sunset over the city. it was very romantic. that was the night i asked you to be my girlfriend.âÂ
âi never told you this, but iâm sure i was already falling in love with you at that point. it was only like, a month or so after we started hanging out and talking, but i was already locked in.âÂ
âhonestly, so was i.â marcello said, echoing your sentiment with a smile.
ânext question; what is my favorite sketch of yours?âÂ
âyou always tell me you have multiple favorites, and they change like, every month.â he laughed before answering.
âthat is true, but i do have one all time favorite. one that i, without question, would top tier marcello sketches. and weâre not talking update features, because i love all of those. just live sketches.â you explained.
âokay, that helps me a bit. iâm gonna go with either fusion scientist, or the age of discovery.â he said.
âit is fusion scientist, but iâm only gonna give you half a point because you hesitated.â
âaw man.â he laughed.Â
âalthough, i do also love the age of discovery. thereâs something about fusion scientist that just always gets me. i had genuine tears in my eyes the first time i watched it, and am still bitter it was cut for time.â you clarified.
âthat one was really fun to perform. it was so ridiculous and goofy, but i loved it.â he explained.Â
âand thats why i love it too.â you said. âalright, next question. oh, this is a good one; what is my favorite gift youâve given me?â you finished the question, and watched his eyes flit to your hands, landing on your ring finger on your left hand. he reached out to you, and you placed your hand in his, smiling as he pressed a kiss to the ring.
âthis right here.â he said as you held your hand out to the camera for a close up. âi got you that ring on our first anniversary. itâs our birthstones in a heart shaped setting.âÂ
ânot only is it my favorite gift youâve given me, but i think itâs my favorite gift iâve ever gotten, ever.â you said. you finished out your questions, tallying up marcelloâs score. âalright, we are sitting at a nice round 20 points.â you said to the camera.Â
âwell, good for me.â he said with a laugh. âalright, my turn. first up, what sports did i play growing up?â he asked you.
âsoccer was your main sport, and you played it throughout high school and college. but you also played baseball, and dabbled in golf, and sometimes fishing?â
âwow. yes to all of those. um, i donât think i want to play this game anymore.â he laughed.Â
âhey, weâre only one question in. donât get too discouraged.â
ânext question; who has been my favorite host to work with so far on snl?â
âeither pedro or benito.â you answered, and he nodded. âthose were really big episodes for you, and i know you had a good time getting to write and work on pretty good sketches during those episodes.âÂ
âthose were both really good, and i enjoyed them both a lot. but, if i had to pick, i would pick benito over pedro.â
âoh, tea.â you gasped through a laugh.
âonly because of the age of discovery sketch. that sketch being entirely in spanish, and all the love we got on it, it made me really proud. pedro was also part of that episode, so that still counts.â he explained. âwhat is my favorite food?â he asked.
âanything cuban or dominican. chuletas, tostones, literally anything else. youâre very easy to please.â you answered immediately. âcâmon give me a challenge.â
âyeah i shouldâve skipped that one.â he laughed. ânext one. oh, hereâs a good one. what was i wearing on our first date?â
âyou were wearing a dark blue cardigan, over a white t-shirt, with blue jeans, and white sneakers.â you answered. âi had a picture of us from that night as my phone wallpaper for a long time, itâs practically burned into my brain at this point.â you said. âdo you remember what i was wearing?â you asked him
âyou were wearing a black, like, lacy top, with a white skirt and black platform loafers.âÂ
âactually,â
âwhat?!â he said loudly, feigning offense.
âno, iâm just kidding. that was right.â you laughed.
âi was about to be so mad.â he laughed. âalright, next one; where was our first kiss?â he asked.
âour first kiss was on the beach in miami. you were home, visiting family and some friends. you asked if i wanted to come see you, and of course, being as down bad as i already was, i immediately jumped on a plane with zero hesitation. we had just finished lunch, and we were hanging out on the beach near where you grew up. we were sitting there in silence, listening to the waves crash on the shore, when we turned to each other, and we kissed. i remember it being really awkward, and us almost missing?â
âi do remember that as well.â he laughed. âbut look at us now, so it must not have been too terrible.â
âit was a first kiss, so you kinda expect it to be awkward. but it was good in the long run.â you said, and marcello nodded, smiling at you. before continuing through the next couple of questions.
âalright, i think this is my last one.â
âand, not to brag, but i am only one point behind you.â you said, raising an eyebrow at him.
âwell, then this will count for two points.â he said, clearing his throat. âwhich one of us made the first move?â
âyou did.â
âwow, that was fast.â
âyou did! we were at an snl after party, after dua lipaâs episode. which, i was invited to by her, by the way.â you said, matter-of-factly. âwe were both at the bar, waiting for our drinks, and made small talk. we hung out for a bit, and by the end of the night, you were already asking for my number. barely two days later, you were asking me to go out.âÂ
âand you accepted without hesitation.âÂ
âwell, yes, but this isnât about me.â you teased, and marcello rolled his eyes at you.
âwell, that was my last question. our final scores are 21 to 20, y/n only getting extra points because i played multiple sports growing up.âÂ
âand for that, i thank you.â you laughed.
you filmed the outro for the video, saying good bye and thanking the future audience for watching. there was a loud âCUT!â from behind the camera, and the producers and crew were thanking you and marcello for such a fun episode.
âthanks for having us! this was a lot of fun.â marcello said, and you nodded in agreement. the two of you headed out to your car, making your way to a nearby restaurant for lunch. you got your food, and sat down at a table, replaying the events of the afternoon.Â
âwe should do more things like that. i know we pride ourselves on having quite a private relationship, but it was a lot of fun.â marcello said to you.
âit was! but i feel like youre just suggesting that so you can redeem yourself and let the people know that you know me better than i know you.â you said to him.Â
âno, why would you ever think that?â he said sarcastically. you just laughed and shook your head. the two of you finished your lunch, enjoying your meal and being with each other. truthfully, marcello knew you better than you knew yourself, and vice versa. and that made you happier than you could ever put into words.

The Mafia Princess Part VII: The Jacket
Update time! Sorry for the slow posting time on this one, but I wanted to take my time and not rush it since we're really getting to the good parts now! I hope you guys are enjoying this story!
Mafia Princess Masterpost
AO3 Link
Winning Result:Â Go with Desi to get a new outfit/jacket bought for her.
Reminder:Â The poll for the next chapter will be under the read more at the bottom of the post!
---
âI guess⌠a new outfit would be nice,â Elsa slowly said, not really sure if it was the right choice or not, but she figured she could always make a break for it and run if she needed to. He may have been a mafia boss, but he was still recovering from getting shot at a bunch of times, after all. She could outrun him.Â
Desi gave her a smile that looked pretty normal before he was looking past her and raising his hand into the air, almost like he was doing that thing in movies when people waved down a taxi. âAlright. My men will pick us up just around the corner of this block, out-of-sight of all your classmates.â
âThanks,â Elsa said, surprised he would actually care about what it would do to her already dead social life to be seen getting picked up in a suspicious black car by a bunch of men in suits. âSo⌠youâre really okay? Because that was a lot of blood.âÂ
âIâve been through worse.â Huh. Should that impress her or scare her? At the moment it was doing a little of both, if she was being honest. âYou handled the situation well yourself, though. Experience?â
âIâm just that good,â Elsa said, pretending she hadnât had a couple nightmares about all the blood and that she was perfectly fine and able to handle herself.Â
Somehow, the look he gave her made her feel like he knew what was going on in her head and that he realized just how terrifying it had all been. She wasnât sure if she liked that. Someone looking at her and honestly seeming like they got it. She was used to just pity, at that point.Â
Thankfully, she didnât have to say anything else, the two walking around the corner and Desi opening a door for her and guiding her into the back of the car. Now that she wasnât in shock, she could see how expensive it was. It looked like the same one from yesterday, at least, minus any blood stains.Â
The seats were made of black leather, though, so possibly it had just been cleaned really well. Who the hell made car seats with leather, anyways? Leather furniture was so uncomfortable! Plus all of the adults with it just ended up covering it with some kind of plastic- Okay. She was getting off-track.Â
The point was that she was in a fancy car that was expensive enough to have the two seat rows that faced each other with a mini-fridge installed underneath the back row seat, the one she was sitting across.Â
There was only one other guy in the car with them, the same one from yesterday that had spoken to her and taken her to the hospital, and he must have noticed her staring because he asked, âYou want a drink, little miss?â
âI think itâs illegal to offer a twelve-year-old a drink,â Elsa said without thinking, which seemed to be a really common theme lately. Maybe she had been cursed. Before she could apologize and try to not get shot, the fridge was opened and there was a water bottle being held out to her with a very flat sort of look being shot her way. âOh.â Elsa took the bottle. âYeah. That, uh, makes more sense, I guess.âÂ
She heard that huffing breath of laughter, looking to Desi who was sitting next to who she guessed must have been Scotty. It was nice that neither of them was sitting beside her and gave her some space, even with as weird as everything was. âWell, there are a few different places we can take you to get that outfit. What sort of clothes do you often wear? What you are now?â
Elsa glanced down without even thinking about it. She wasnât dressed in much besides some black jeans and a generic band t-shirt that was so faded she couldnât even make out the name of the band. Elsa looked back at him. âIâm a foster kid. We wear what we can get.â Alright. That had been a little rude, she guessed. She also didnât want to dive down into her foster kid woes and look like some kind of beggar or, worse, owe any kind of debts. âIf itâs alright, I⌠really just want the jacket I had replaced.â
âWas it special to you?â Desiâs tone was a little kinder, something similar to pity, but not quite as condescending. It was nicer.Â
âSort of?â Elsa shrugged, looking away to instead fiddle with her water bottle and get it open. âI had been outgrowing it anyway so it basically didnât fit anymore, but it was a gift.âÂ
A glance up showed that Desi was giving her his full attention and looking interested in what she was saying, and Scotty was looking out the window to where she couldnât tell if he was making it seem like he wasnât listening or actually wasnât listening. Somehow, she felt herself wanting to say more.Â
âIt was a birthday gift from an older foster sibling I had a couple years ago. We didnât even keep in contact and he left the system probably over a year ago now, but the jacket was still mine, you know? We werenât exactly close, but it was mine.â It looked like he got it, but just to drive home the point she added on quietly, âYou donât get gifts much in the system. You donât get things that are yours in the system.âÂ
The three of them sort of sat there quietly, Desi finally raising his voice, âAidano?â He seemed to be talking to the driver, Elsa looking back to see they were actually driving. She hadnât even felt the car move from where she and Desi had first gotten in. âThe usual clothing place.âÂ
It was hard with how twisted around she was, but she was pretty sure she saw Scotty and Aidano both share some kind of look that probably meant something. âSo, Elsa.â Desi smiled at her, still acting like he was talking to someone interesting. âIf you could have your dream jacket, what would it look like?â
Well. If she had already shared her tragic backstory, she might as well go all the way, right? With that in mind, she took a sip of water before she closed the bottle and then moved her backpack to rest between her legs before opening it and, after shoving the bottle inside, pulling out her most recent sketchbook. She hadnât been working in it much, so it was pretty beat up. Still, she knew exactly which page to flip to.Â
âI guess my dream jacket would be something like this?â Elsa held out the sketchbook, letting Desi take it and feeling a burst of pride when the big time mafia boss looked impressed at her drawing.Â
âYou designed this?â Designed? Big word for just drawing a cool looking jacket, but sheâd take the compliment.Â
âYup,â Elsa said, even more gleeful when she saw Scotty, who had still been pretending to not hear anything, snuck a glance over and looked impressed himself. âDrawing is cheap, easy, and fun, so it makes for a good hobby. I canât exactly get clothes easy, since, you know, Iâm twelve, so I just drew what I wanted. So I guess if I could have a dream jacket, it would be like that.â
âYouâre got talent here, kid. It looks good.â Heh. She was pretty good, wasnât she? She was pretty glad though that he decided to not flip around to other pages like other people would when she showed them a drawing.Â
A voice from behind her startled her before she realized it was just the driver. âWeâre here, sir.âÂ
âThank you, Aidano.â Looking back to her, Desi smiled. âI think we can do something about getting you a good jacket.âÂ
With that he was opening the door and getting out of the car, still with her sketchbook in his hand, she noticed, and gesturing for her to follow. She glanced at Scotty, who just raised an eyebrow back like he was waiting on her. âAlright, alright,â Elsa grumbled, sliding over before getting out of the car, making sure to grab her backpack and take it with her.Â
She barely got on the sidewalk before Desi was walking into a store, Elsa quick to follow and then immediately stopping when she got inside because whoa. It looked like one of those high-end tailoring places people in movies got their clothes from when they were rich. Bolts of fabric were lined up against the upper walls and everything was made of polished wood and curved edges. It looked sleek, cool, and expensive.Â
Desi was walking up to the counter where someone in a fancy vest and suit pants was standing, a tape measure slung over their shoulders to really drive in the point she was somewhere where people made the clothes for a person specifically. Elsa followed him, but she was slow enough she could sneak some looks at some of the mannequins that did have outfits on them. She didnât see any prices, and she definitely knew what that meant.Â
Desi and the guy seemed to know each other, going by how warmly they said hi, and Elsa made sure to give it a couple minutes before she joined them at the desk, especially with how serious they looked to be after the initial hellos. It gave her time to look at some of the clothing more, already thinking up ideas for next time she drew.
When she finally got to the desk, Desi spared her a quick smile. âMatthew, this is Elsa,â Desi introduced, Elsa waving at Matthew because this was a very expensive store and she wanted to be on good behavior considering she already looked like she didnât shop in places like this. Ever. âLike I was telling you, her jacket got ruined while she was helping me out and weâre here to get her a new one. I even got a reference photo for you this time around.âÂ
Her sketchbook was laid on the table and Elsa felt absolutely mortified that a professional designer was looking at her doodle of a jacket she thought would look good on her. âOh! Did you draw this?â Matthew looked at her and looked impressed. âThis is incredible work! I can tell you like designing, and your pallet to the side here shows a good sense of color.âÂ
âOh. Thank you,â Elsa said even as she mentally scolded herself for doubting her skills because, obviously, she was a god at drawing and should be worshiped as such.Â
She didnât get to say anything else before she was being almost literally swept away and then helped onto a little stand with her arms held out as that measuring tape was used to take her measurements.Â
It then hit that she was in a very expensive store getting a jacket custom-made for her and decided she was probably in another dream that she should just go along with. As long as she pretended it was all normal and fine, then it would be, right?Â
It at least was interesting watching Matthew work, totally focused but still somehow answering her when she asked a couple questions about what she saw around her. She was really interested in that blue fabric that looked sort of like silk, but also had a really faint glittering pattern to it that looked really cool.Â
She wasnât sure if she was upset or relieved when she was back at Desiâs side at the front counter, her sketchbook being handed back to her and Matthew back at the counter and writing things down in a notebook faster than she ever would be able to. âAlright, since itâs a much smaller order than your usual, we should be ready to have it done and ready for her tomorrow for those final alterations. Some time after two, at most.â
She didnât get to ask any final questions about how her jacket would look at the end before Desi was touching her shoulder just enough to steer her back towards the door, Elsa passing by another woman who had entered and, okay, fair enough, Matthew had work to do. Sheâd just get her questions answered tomorrow, anyways- Ah. Right.
âSo,â Elsa said once they were outside, Scotty following them from where he had been standing by the door for probably the whole time. Seemed like a mafia thing to do. âWeâre⌠coming back tomorrow?â
Desi chuckled and took something from his pocket before holding it out, Elsa shifting her grip on her sketchbook to take a white business card. It looked like it was for the store behind her, the name and address and everything printed on it. Flipping it over, she was surprised to see a number actually written in ink on the back.Â
âYou can come back yourself tomorrow and get it, no need to worry about strange men picking you up from school again.â Oh, thank god. âPayment is all taken care of, too, so all you need to do is pick it up and make sure it fits.âÂ
Elsa nodded, playing with the edge of the card before holding it up. âAnd the number isâŚ?âÂ
âJust in case you need it.â Alright. Cryptic, but she could guess from that much at least that it was probably his. Probably. âNow. If youâd like we can give you a ride back home or even just back to the school. If youâd rather, thereâs a bus stop just across the street, too.âÂ
Hm. For being a big time mafia boss, he sure gave her a lot of free will to make her own choices before just going along with them. It was better than just being told what to do like in every other aspect of her life. âI guessâŚâ
#mafia princess#my writing#original#story poll#i'm going to try and include a Silly/Fun option for each poll i do#just because i think it wou ld be fu n lol#but i hope you guys enjoy this one i really had fun with it!#Elsa and Desi's relationship is really fun to explore

pairing: hoshina soushirou x gn!reader (no prns)
request: a reader that keeps messing around w him and at some point they mention they like him but then hoshina thinks theyre just playing... ..but they r not and he doesnt quite get it at first because hes so used to them joking around and then he ends up overthinking the whole thing until reader actually goes up to him to kiss him (or hug him very tight!!!!!!!! or both maybe!!!!!!)
maybe he liked them too but that thought didnt sit right with him because he doesnt believe hes worthy of something like that
notes: mentions the reader's face "flushing", reader is rather lively/outgoing, reader is not a fan of horror and is more a fan of romance, reader is a hoshina stan, one part is inspired by a scene in wakaba no komorebi, omg why are there so many notes I'm so sorry TY FOR THE REQ!!
wc: 2800
A new day, a new chance for you to shoot your shot at none other than your vice-captain of the third division.
You were always messing with him. This ranged from embarrassing pranks a grade school boy would menace his crush with, all the way to borderline hitting on him. There wasnât a single day youâd forget to remind him he was stunning, and youâd always be bragging about him to the officers in the first division, regardless of the fact that you had absolutely nothing to do with the things you were bragging about. Simply put, you were loud about Hoshina.
Yet, every day, he'd brush you off and tell you to get to work. You didn't let that mind you much though, because you could tell he wasn't actually upset. You liked him unconditionally, and as long as you weren't actually bothering him, you couldn't care less if your feelings weren't returned. Well, you did care, but that wasn't going to stop how you felt for him.
Now, you said all of that, but naturally, you were still scared to just put your feelings out there so you hadnât actually told Hoshina you liked him. You assumed he knew, but if you said it out loud, youâd have to hear an answer. And that, you were not ready for.
However, you werenât going to stop messing with him anytime soon. Hoping one day heâd actually fall for you and one day youâd have the courage to properly tell him how you felt.
You were in the cafeteria with the rest of the division, having your breakfast while mindlessly scrolling through your phone, when you saw a post about a new movie in theatres. Immediately your mind went to possibly inviting Hoshina and you scrolled right back up, trying to find out what it was about. Horror. You sighed and continued to scroll. Horror was absolutely not your favourite.
âOh, is it finally out?â you heard a voice from behind you sayâ your favourite voice say.
âWould you like to go?â you asked, whipping your head back to see none other than Hoshina Soushirou. Just the sight of him and your heart would flutter. How you loved him. âTogether? Us? Just us? You and me?â
âOh, like we have time to go,â he said.
âMan,â you said, knowing heâd say that. The entire defence force in general had been a lot busier ever since the appearance of so many identified grade kaijus. However, it did make you wonder if that meant he would if he did have time. No, heâs just declining your invitation politely, youâd tell yourself, bringing you back to your senses.
Youâve done this since always, and you do this every time without fail. Whenever a new shop had opened, or a new movie to watch had come to theatres, you'd always shoot your shotâ hoping he'd say yes one day. Yes to a date.
Although you were used to getting turned down, it still wasnât the best feeling. Recently, you've been letting it get to you far more than you used to. Maybe after all these times, the rejection did start to have an affect on you. Maybe you were falling for him even harder recently, or maybe you were starting to hope for your feelings to be returned.
Perhaps a relaxing day at the movies was exactly what you needed. Maybe youâd ask for a day off next weekâ just to go watch a movie you liked.
So you did exactly that, you filed a form to Captain Ashiro, requesting a day off anytime the next week. Preferably on a Tuesday, because movie tickets were cheaper on Tuesdays.
A few days later, you were called over to her office. You assumed it was just to let you know if you could have your day off and if so, when it was. To your surprise, when you walked in, it wasn't Ashiro but rather Hoshina there, working away.
âHoshina?â you asked, pleasantly surprised. âI didn't expect to see you today.â
âYou didn't?â he asked, genuinely perplexed. âBut this is my office?â
âYour office? I thought it was Captain Ashiroâs?â you said.
âIt used to be, but I took it over a little while back,â he said. âIt's just a lot faster for me to do the paperwork.â
âOh⌠I see,â you said, rather surprised you weren't already aware. There was a moment of silence.
âIt was rather recently that I had officially started working here,â he said, somehow noticing that you were dejected. Oh, how did he always know exactly what to say? You were never going to get over him at this rate. âAnyways, you requested a day off next week?â
âUm⌠yes,â you said. Now you felt a little awkward about going to a movie alone, and you really hoped he wouldn't realize where you were going.
âOn a Tuesday⌠are you going to see that movie after all?â he asked and he noticed you stiffened a little, so he immediately followed with, âSorry, you don't have to answer that. You're absolutely free to take that day off.â
âI am,â you said. Half a lie, because there was no way you were watching a horror movie, let alone by yourself. But you were going to the movies. That was true. âIt's been a while since I watched a movie in theatres, I realized.â
âI've never gone alone actually,â he said, imagining you were planning to go alone. âOr are you going with someone?â
âNo, I'll be by myself,â you said, but instinctively you asked him out again. It was practically in your subconsciousness to do so. âUnless you'd like to tag along?â
There was a long pause before he said anything, and his unreadable expression only made the silence feel longer. You were expecting a quick rejection again, so the silence was absolutely killing youâ you hadn't expected it one bit.
âActually, I'd like to,â he said. âIf that's okay with you, of course.â
You couldn't believe your ears. What did he say? You couldn't have possibly heard that right. What had he said?
On the other hand, he had no idea why he said yes. Why after turning you down all these times? Why now? He had turned down every offer of yours because he knew you were just messing around. You didnât feel about him the way he felt about you. He knew this because you had done this since the moment you joined, and you couldnât have liked him back thenâ you hadn't even know him yet.
But still, he hoped you were serious.
âYou're joking,â you said.
âWere you?â he asked. This must be why he said yes. He wanted to know so badlyâ he was rather exhausted of playing the guessing game with you.
âNot at all,â you said. You thought he had known, but perhaps not. âI've never been. Not for a moment.â
âThen, let's go,â he said with his poker face on, but he was a little shaken. He didn't think you were at all serious, let alone that serious.
âHoshina, is this a date?â you asked, and you could tell your cheeks were flushed. However, there wasn't much to be embarrassed about at this point, so you might as well have asked before you drove yourself insane.
âOkayâŚâ you said, but you were spaced out. You had no idea what had prompted this all of a sudden, but this was the moment you had been waiting for, for your whole life. Yes to a date.
A date? Was it a date?
âWould you like it to be?â he asked. You had no idea what he was thinking.
âYes,â you said. âOf courseâŚâ
âThen, let's go on a date,â he said. âOn Tuesday, at 2pm. I'll pick you up from your unit and we'll go and watch a movie.â
It was yes to a date. A date with none other than the love of your life. You were going on a date with Hoshina Soushirou.
You left the office soon after, thanking him as you left, and you were lost in thought. You truly felt like the world around you had stopped, but at the same time, the time passing was a blur. You thought itâd be forever before your long awaited day, and youâd have plenty of time to calm yourself down and prepare, but it had rolled around before you knew it.
You put on what you personally thought was your best date outfit, but you had no idea if heâd like it. You really hoped he would. Now, you were sitting around, waiting for him to come pick you up. It was still 10 till 2, but he was always ahead of scheduleâ he hated making people wait, so he was always early. A few minutes later, you heard a few footsteps and some rustling outside your door, and you were pretty sure it was him. You waited for a knock, but it wouldnât come.
Quickly, you opened the door and it was him, waiting by your door with his phone in his hand, opened to your messages with him.
âOh,â he said. âSorry, were you waiting?â
âNo,â you said, immediately. âI just finished getting ready. Why didnât you knock?â
âWell, Iâm early,â he said. âDidnât want to rush you.â
Gosh, you were on a date. With him. You had actually never seen him in anything other than what he wears at the defense force, and as much as you liked that training shirt he had on, he looked so incredibly gorgeous today. And this was just for you. He wore a black corduroy turtleneck, and a simple long coat to go over it. You were still so lost, how had you gotten to this point in the first place?
âYouâre stunning today,â he said to you as he smiled a little and you swear you felt your heartrate spike. Did he even know what he was doing?
âNot to mean you arenât usuallyâŚâ he said immediately. âSorry, I never say the right things when they count, do I?â
âNo, I thought my heart was going to stop,â you said, frankly. This was the way you always were, there was no point in getting flustered all of a sudden. âYouâre gorgeous everyday, but even more so today.â
âWell, Iâd have to be glad our date is today then,â he said.
While the two of you walked to the theatre, it was rather quiet. Far more quiet than you usually were. Suddenly, you were so nervous, and there was nothing to say to him. So many questions filled your head but none of them felt appropriate to ask. You felt like the spell would break if you took one wrong breath. You wanted to know why he was here with you today. Why he said yes all of a sudden, why he took a precious day off to go on a date with you, and what he was thinking when he said yes. You wanted to know how he felt about you, or at least how he felt about this date.
âIâll go get us tickets,â you said, as soon as you got to the theatre. âPlease pick a snack and a drink in the meantime, Iâll get the tickets quick.â
âOh, donât be silly, Iâm getting the tickets, and the drinks and snacks, for that matter,â he said. âBesides, we havenât even decided on a movie yet.â
âWe havenât?â you asked. âI thought we were watching the movie that came out the other day?â
âWhat? Why would we?â he asked, genuinely confused. âYou donât even like horror." He pointed at another poster on the wall. "Why donât we watch that one? Romance is more your type of thing, isnât it?â
You thought youâd cry. If there was one thing that was worrying you about this date, it was the movie. Horror really wasnât for you, and you werenât sure if you could watch the movie without showing it.
âHow did you know?â you asked.
âItâs obvious,â he said. âYouâve never asked me out to a horror movie, have you?â
Just how did he notice? âBut didnât you want to watch that one?â you asked.
âPlease, I can watch that whenever, on my own,â he said. âIâm here with you today. Iâd be a horrible date to make you watch it with me.â
âThank you,â you said, starstruck. âAt least, let me pay for it then?â
âNo way,â he said. âIâm taking you out today.â
âNo, I asked you out,â you said.
âDonât care!â he said and went off to get the tickets and snacks.
You were in love with him, and you were going to tell him. You were sure he knew, but you had to tell him properly. It wasnât even that you were hoping for him to return your feelings, you just wanted to tell him.
You thought you wouldnât be able to focus on the movie at all, but you were, strangely enough. You were watching a cliche romance movie that couldnât possibly be about you and Hoshina, no matter how much you tried to stretch the narrative, but you loved it. It was a sweet movie, a type that you've always loved, and you were watching it with the one you always loved. You couldnât be happier.
So as soon as the movie was over, you went for it.
âHoshina, I love you so much,â you said, and kissed him. On the lips.
His eyes were wide and his cheeks were faintly flushed. You werenât expecting that, not even for a moment.
âYouâre serious?â he asked.
You were confused, did he think you were playing around all this time? âYes, of course,â you said. âIâve loved you for forever.â
âSince⌠when?â he asked.
âSince the day you saved me, 3 years ago,â you said, immediately. It was like you had waited all your life to answer this. âYou definitely donât remember, but I remember like yesterday.â
He wouldnât reply, but he was still looking at you surprised, so you continued on.
âI thought I had told you this actually. Not the part that I liked you, but the part that you saved me. I joined because of you, Hoshina,â you said. âYes, youâre my vice-captain and the love of my life, and Iâm one of your officers, but you were my hero and I was your biggest fan for all this time.â
Something in him shifted. It felt like someone had woken him up from a weird haze, and showed him how much colour there is to the world. You joined for him. Not for Mina, not for Gen, but him. To you, he was a hero. To the one he treasured most, he was irreplaceable.
âI love you too,â he said, with the softest smile you had ever seen from him. He was serious, you could tell.
âNo way,â you said.
âI do,â he said, but he could tell that you were a little skeptical, or at least puzzled. âI love the way you work hard, the way you joke around, but actually care so much. I love the way you give everything your all. I love the way you always smile when you see meâ it makes me feel so special. You make my day, absolutely every single day.â
It took everything in you to stop yourself from sobbing, but that made Hoshina laugh. He kissed you this time, and tears rolled down your cheeks anyway.
Wiping your cheeks with the pad of his thumb, he kissed you on the forehead.
âI absolutely adore you.â
BONUS:
Later that day, you were going to open up the one cardboard box you still hadnât unpacked. The one filled with your posters and merch of Hoshina you had collected through these years. You were hiding them, because you thought itâd be a little too weird if you had those just hanging around, but finally, theyâd see the sunlight. You would never have even imagined this day when you had those in your room, dreaming of him. If only you could tell your past selfâ just how thrilled you wouldâve been. Well, not that you were any less thrilled now.
The next time Hoshina came to visit you in your room, he was utterly flustered, it was absolutely adorable. He couldnât believe people actually bought the merch they sold of him, let alone put them upâ and in the room of his loved one nonetheless. But heâd be lying if he said he didnât like it, because it made him so incredibly happy.
He was thrilled that you did, in fact, love him the way he loved you.

Started watching SNW season 2 episode 3 and my eyes literally glazed over the moment they both came out in matching all black hoodie-leather jacket-jeans outfits and I couldnât keep watching after that
#it was TOOO BOOOOORING for me............I want to see HIJINKS I don't care about augments or war or whatever#the augment thing was fine in the last episode bc it also had a courtoom drama and I /do/ like courtroom dramas and mystery plots#but this one was just La'an and [redacted] having a very boring date on modern day Earth which ties into something something augments Khan#the only fun part was Pelia v_v#my opinion is very biased I really can't stand more grimdark metallic war depression type plots#I skip a lot of the borg stuff on Voyager for that reason ... I'm an early seasons silliness type of guy#I hope the next episode of SNW gets back to aliens and hijinks and people in bright clothing trying to worm their way outta THIS mess#idk if this episode is fun for people who actually do care about/understand the khan stuff and the augments stuff#but please don't explain it to me v_v it will never penetrate my heart#idk how to describe 'grimdark metallic' but it's like Picard...it doesn't feel warm. It's glossy and cold.#I don't like that vibe for star trek v_v#also THIS is what it looks like when I'm not having fun so you see I was telling the truth when I said I had fun the last episode#even though I was making fun of it relentlessly...episodes can be fun-bad and I'll still thoroughly enjoy them I just couldn't get into this#please!!!! -dying- please...the goofs and gags.....#livetweeting#please star trek...the STRANGE (NEW) worlds.....not shitty earth...I'm ON shitty earth!!!

DONT KNOW WHAT TO SAY HERE but the cowboys are ON THE WAY!! AGAIN!! FOR CHAPTER THREE!!!! In which Jensen has his meet-cute beside his own wanted poster, and Amos very much hates his job
* * *
Chapter Three, "Fish Out Of Water"
They arrived at the next town nearly an hour short of Jensenâs original estimate, with the wagon driver having sped them along their way best he could, perhaps out of his own kindness, though more likely out of some measurable concern, and a want to rid himself and his wagon of Jensen as soon as he was able to. Jensen made a point to thank him even so, and was eventually able to dig up enough money to pay the man for the whole journey, much to Jensenâs immense relief; he did not at all feel that yet another escape would do him much good, especially not in the circumstances, for he was awfully tired and ached all over from the journey in such a cramped cabin, and mostly wanted to find a soft bed to sleep in.
With the wagon gone, Jensen turned for the hotel; he had little desire to wander through town for much longer while his legs ached so dreadfully, and thought, or rather hoped, that he still had a few coins enough left in his bag to buy him a room for the night.
It was quite early in the morning, with the journey lasting all through the night, and most of the street was closed, with the shop windows darkened and shut up, and most of their inhabitants likely still asleep. Jensen looked into the buildings as he passed, with considerable interest; there were a number of shops he would have liked to visit later, and he supposed he might as well learn the layout of the town, if he planned to stay here for much longer.
Fortunately, it was not hard to locate a hotel nearby, what proved difficult was finding one that was open, or that he could afford with his pitifully small funds. He found one which looked on the outside to be comfortable enough, and when he looked inside he thought it would have been the perfect place to stay, and had already begun to plan for his new room. But the man at the front desk had said, with a very weary expression and little change from the monotony of his tone, that the meagre funds Jensen offered him would not even account for half of what a room would cost, for even one night. Jensen had not given up at once, and had attempted to negotiate, but the man did not at all want to cooperate, and was forced to send him on his way.
Jensen instead found a different hotel, which looked rather drab and small in comparison to the first, but he supposed it would have to suit, else he would end up sleeping under his coat in the rain â he dreaded even the thought of it. He paid for his room with the very last of his money, which managed to supply him for three nights, and he supposed that would do. He had a short discussion with the man at front, which was mostly to quiet his mounting worry at the likely prospect of another escape, and likely only served to cause the poor fellow some sizable concern at Jensenâs expense.
He dropped his bag at the foot of his bed, deciding against folding what little clothes he had brought along with him on impulse into the wooden drawers by his bedside; there were not so many that it would really matter whether he did or did not, and his arms were achingly tired already, so he thought there was no good reason to put himself through the extra trouble.
The bed proved soft enough, though the sheets were folded oddly at the end, and he gave them a pointedly disapproving look before shaking them out and laying them down quite neatly, and then finally, he sat at the very end of the bed, and issued a heavy sigh. He had thought he would fall into his bed and sleep at once, but now that he was shut up in his room, having sorted all distractions, he did not think he felt safe enough to sleep at all.
Instead, he left the hotel entirely, and turned instead for the bank, hoping at the very least that he might be able to scrounge something more from his savings, for fear that he would end up stranded with empty pockets. Fortunately, he passed through the bank without much trouble, though he found the place rather dull, and thought the man who spoke at the desk was terribly impolite; he caught him looking at him with an oddly sour expression, on more than one occasion, though Jensen was beginning to think that the entire town had a similar manner.
Still, he said nothing of it, though made the interaction as short as possible, and pointedly returned the ugly look as he left, feeling a rather childish sense of pride at himself in doing so.
With his funds renewed and his dignity kept mostly intact, Jensen found himself again at the need for a distraction, so set himself to running his errands around the town; he found there were a surprising amount of things to be done, if he meant to stay for much longer than a night, and by mid-morning, he already felt quite at home in is new town. He stopped in half the shops he passed, and told himself that it would help him learn the townâs layout, but secretly he could not keep his excitement; everything seemed to catch his eye. The town might have been drab, but it had a great many things to offer; he found a rather stylish new coat, somewhat longer than the one he wore, and he thought it looked quite smart when he tried it on.
âSir, what do you think?â He had asked the man at the desk, who looked ready to fall asleep. The man said something that Jensen did not hear; he was too busy pulling at the sleeves and watching the way the long coat twirled when he turned to pay any attention. He could not find the self-control to stop himself from buying it on the spot, and felt some shame at it, though he could at least admit, it was a fine use of his money, and he made a point to twirl it again whenever he had the chance.
With his impulses satisfied, Jensen had meant to turn at once for the hotel again; he was now forced to carry his old coat under his arm, and he would very much have liked to drop it in his room, and then likely take a very long nap. But as he turned for the hotel, he found himself stopped at the side of the street, and his heart sank quite abruptly.
The wanted poster did not stick out so much as the others beneath it, which were mostly faded or obscured entirely. But his own name was dreadfully clear when it caught his eye, and Jensen found himself glancing around him in sudden worry; he felt as if the whole town could see. He wondered how much longer he could wait before they came after him also, just as his own folk had.
With mounting anxiety, he turned to set off for the hotel, but found himself near scared out of his own skin at the sight of the man who had appeared beside him, apparently out of nowhere. He had blonde hair, swept to the side and kept neatly out of his eyes, and a relatively well-trimmed moustache, which Jensen found quite smart.
The man, fortunately, did not seem to notice his alarm, or if he did he said nothing of it, looking very closely at the wall of posters.
âHullo,â He said, trying to sound relaxed, âSee anyone you know?â He added, as cheerily as he could manage; he did not want to look awkward, and thought it at least polite to strike up a conversation.
The man did immediately give Jensen a response; he puzzled over the posters for another brief moment, and then glanced at Jensen, and furrowed his brow.
âWhat?â
âI, ahâI did not hear you come over,â Jensen tried instead, âYou must be light on your feet,â
The man gave him an odd look. Jensen found himself for a moment at a loss for what else to say, and felt rather embarrassed, but did not want to back out of the conversation now, at risk of looking like a fool.
At last, he gave the man a smile, and said; â...Are you looking for anyone in particular?â
Here the man had an odd sort of reaction: his brow furrowed deeper, into something of a frown, and then abruptly he relaxed, and finally pointed, to Jensenâs horror, at his very own poster, jabbing his finger into the crude drawing of his face, which made Jensen grimace.
âHim,â Said the man, with some venom. He levelled his gaze with Jensenâs own, though Jensen noted that he did not quite look directly at him. âYou seen him?â
âAh...â Jensen paled, looking from the man to his poster and back again. âIâI would not think so, no, I would have...known, Iâm sureââ
He coughed to cover his hesitation, and looked to the poster, at the crudely drawn picture of his face, looking to make some comment on its appearance in the hopes of throwing the man off his trail. He found with some disappoint that it did not look much like him at all, and was instead a rather ugly depiction, which he thought, with some measurable offence, shared no resemblance to him at all.
âThough I do think,â He said, unable to move on from his own disappointment, âThis surely cannot be whatâhe...really looks like?â
The man did not say anything, and Jensen cleared his throat, quite nervously.
âI believe it was hand drawn.â He said at last, though did not take his eyes off of Jensenâs face; he looked as if he was puzzling something over in his head.
Jensen looked back to the poster, and frowned. âAh.â He said, âYes, you can tell.â
When he turned back to the man beside him, he found him staring quite intently, and Jensen had to keep himself from startling. The man furrowed his brow. "Whatâs your name?" He said, in a manner that suggested he would not care for the answer at all, or perhaps already knew it.
âEâehhd...son.â Jensen said, and then felt a sudden need to hit himself across the face. The man seemed almost amused for a moment, before his eyes narrowed again.
âEd-son?â
âYes,â Jensen nodded, somewhat proud of his own rescue, though it was poorly executed, and he still felt as if he would be thinking about it in embarrassment for days to come.
âAny chance youâd be new in town?â
âOh!â Jensen said, âI am, rather, I only arrived early this morning, I had a very long journey. And I have not yet had a chance to rest, so if I am at all eccentric, that will be whyââ
âYou talk a lot,â The man said, offhandedly, and then added, as though it were an afterthought; "Going to have to take you in.â
âTake me in?â
The man nodded. âMm. Or I could kill you,â He said, quite casually, and Jensen realised suddenly that he might have greatly misunderstood the direction of their conversation.
âOh!â He said, and then turned and fled.
He made immediately for the hotel, as quickly as he could manage, though his legs had already been complaining when he walked, and they were aching so much now that Jensen thought he might collapse if he was not careful. He thought he could remember the way well enough; he did not think it was far, but with the man close on his tail, and his own rising panic, it felt as though he must have been running for an hour before he caught sight of the hotel.
He did not allow himself to hesitate, and ran right to his room, not stopping even to greet the man at the front desk, who watched him pass with a look of plain confusion, and called after him from down the stairs.
Jensen shut the door behind him, and nearly dropped his key when he tried to pull it from his pocket; his hands were again shaking, and they fumbled awkwardly as he turned it in the lock. He had not thought look behind him to see if the man had followed him, and if he had he would not have dared, but he waited at the door with his breath held, paused halfway into the room with his hands hovering at the door. For a brief moment, there was nothing, and Jensen felt himself calm â foolishly, for there was a shout immediately afterwards, and then footsteps in the hall, and he felt his gut twist in fear.
He turned and went to the window, right across from the door, not before holding himself in a moment of panicked hesitation. It was held down by a latch at the bottom, he undid it as quickly as he could manage, and then forced it open, groaning at the effort. It went only halfway, and resolutely would not budge when he cursed and slammed his hand against it, but the gap was just large enough for him to fit through, with his bags under his arm.
He gathered up his bags, leaving his old coat slung over the end of the bed; he felt some odd guilt at leaving it so carelessly. But when he leaned over the windowsill, with his hands gripping the edge tight enough to turn his knuckles white, he felt his stomach drop at the height; he was only one floor up from the ground, but he could not even imagine falling from such a height, and landing without injury.
âOh, good lord,â Jensen said aloud, though quietly, and pulled himself safely inside â he would have to make a run for it, he thought, if he made to escape alive and unscathed.
But when he turned for the door, he could only stop, and watch with open horror as the handle turned, quite aggressively, as though it were being pulled at with great frustration. He was sure he had locked it, and tried to calm himself with this thought, but there was the sound of a key sliding into the lock, and he found suddenly that the man at the desk must have had a key of his own. Jensen threw his hand up against his head; he could only groan in frustration.
The blond man came running into the room with the other fellow shortly behind him, though he at present stayed nervously hovering in the doorway, and watched the two men with great worry as much as confusion. The first man had a gun in his hand, which he swung at Jensen the moment he spotted him at the window, levelling it quite neatly at his head. Jensen squeaked fearfully, which he then thought was terribly undignified, but could not in the moment summon the energy to care.
âEdward Jensen,â The man said, in a voice remarkably close to a snarl. Jensen immediately threw his hands up in the air, and felt his heart sink in sorrow; he was well and truly cornered. âNot another fuckinâ step.â
âMight we not talk this out?â Jensen said, as diplomatically as he could, though he could not stop his voice from wobbling in his panic. âWhatâs your name?â
The man narrowed his eyes; he looked about ready to push him out of the window himself, for the sake of his own frustration rather than that of the law.
âAmos,â He said, though he spat it as though it were venom, and added only; âYou ainât talking yourself out of this one,â
Jensen made an odd sound, which might have been the beginnings of a feeble agreement, and shook his head. He thought, in one moment, that Amos was not a bad name, and he found it suited the man quite nicely, but he did not stop to dwell on it, in favour of the gun pointed at his head.
He backed against the window, having to stop himself from flinching when his back met the wall. His bags were at his feet, he did not think he could gather them up and escape through the window before Amos readied his gun, even if he could summon the strength to jump at all. He only kept pressing up against the wall, feeling with his hands for the windowsill, and keeping his focus wholly on Amos himself; he did not notice when his hands met empty space, and toppled backwards over the windowsill with a bewildered yell.
He dropped onto the ground ungracefully, sending up a cloud of dust. He did not move for a long moment, trying to summon the strength to move, while his mind seemed wholly convinced that he had broken something. His back hurt, and he was quite sure that he had hit his head; he felt dazed, and at one moment his eyes refused to focus â he blinked furiously in an attempt to fix it, and waved his hands about before his face, trying to bring them back into focus.
Somewhere up above him, there was a shout, which sounded more like a yell of full frustration than any word. He watched distantly as Amos leant over the windowsill, and then disappeared abruptly back inside, while the man from the front desk came up afterwards and closed the window behind him.
Jensen thought he ought to move: there was no doubt Amos would be on his way down at any moment. He was not wholly sure if his legs would still work, but the prospect of another chance at escape drove his body to action, and he managed to haul himself quite awkwardly from the floor, groaning both in pain and frustration, and furiously brushing the dust from his coat â it would be a damned shame for it to be ruined so soon after he had bought it.
At once he set off running again, he half expected the townsfolk to come after him, but the bewildered faces he passed looked only confused, rather than malicious. He did not know entirely where he was aiming to go, and only kept running, until the buildings at the side of the street became wholly unrecognisable. He had thought at one moment that he ought to hide, but when he paused in the street he could see no obvious spot, and did not think he had the guts to wait any longer and find one, if there were even any around at all.
Instead he ran for the very edge of town, where the buildings quickly became sparse in favour of dirt paths and shrubbery, and then a little further afterwards there stood a wooden stable, fenced off with fields of sparse grass. And in the field, was a group of dark-eyed horses, milling about and flicking their tails at the flies.
Jensen ran for the fence instinctually, hauling himself over with some difficulty and very nearly sending himself right into the mud. He frowned as his shoes sank into the wet ground, but did not dare hesitate, and turned for the horse nearest to him â a gentle-looking mare standing aside from the others, and picking quietly at the grass. Jensen approached her as slowly as he dared, whispering in a voice rather shaky with panic, though she did not seem to notice or care for him at all until the very moment he pulled on the saddle over her back, when she only snorted and flicked her ears in what looked to be irritation.
His arms ached with exhaustion, and hurt only more so from his fall, but he managed to pull himself into the saddle, though his hands trembled at every move, surprising himself as much as the mare, it seemed, for she tossed her head and snorted again. Jensen took this as a congratulations, though nervously marked the height at which he sat; his luck surely would not last forever, and if she threw him from here, he was sure to break something.
Distantly he saw Amos running out from the town, making straight for the fence. Another man was close behind him, though Jensen had not seen him before, and decided with great unease that he must be the man who owned the horses and their land; he looked as if he had been dragged from his house in a sudden rage, and was angrier, even, than Amos seemed himself.
Nervously, Jensen shifted himself on the horseâs back. He had realised very suddenly that he had never ridden a horse in his life, nor did he have any good idea how to, so could only try pulling haltingly on the reigns, and trying to shift the saddle into movement, as though to give the horse some clue that he wanted to move.
âNow, uh...go, please, maâam?â He tried, with mounting anxiety. The two men were only growing closer â Amos was now nearly at the fence, with the other man not far behind, while Jensen sat rather stupidly stop his horse, entirely motionless. âPlease?â
He patted the horses neck as politely as he could manage, to which she snorted again, and tossed her head, before turning right back to the half-chewed grass stems at her hooves, looking entirely indifferent.
Jensenâs pleading only grew more urgent, and more panicked, he was sure to be caught if he did not move now. Amos shouted something; Jensen did not hear, but his gut turned over in fear, and in a moment purely of panic he felt for the reigns and pulled on them, quite suddenly, yelling for the horse to move. The mare startled, Jensen felt her tense, and felt his stomach twist in anticipation. Amos reached the fence and slammed right into it; Jensen marked the look of determination as much as anger in his face, and then the horse kicked off from where she stood, and they were running right for the fence.
Jensen yelled out, thinking in a panic that they would crash into it entirely, and yanked on the reigns for support as much as to signal to stop. The horse again did not seem to hear him at all, only kept gaining speed, kicking up clumps of mud and grass behind them, until she halted at the fence and leaped, clean over the fence and the two men, and landing quite neatly on the other side.
Jensen watched Amos duck in fear, and then both men were staring after him in open shock; Jensen felt himself laugh suddenly, though out of joy or from fear he truly could not tell. His hand had begun to ache where he had gripped the reigns so tightly, and the wind brought tears out of his eyes; he blinked them away as hastily as he could. The horse did not stop running, it seemed she felt as free as he did, and they gained speed at a rate which Jensen found rather impressive; he had no idea a horse could run this fast at all, for he had only seen them at the front of wagons and carriages, which proved to be dreadfully slow in comparison.
Amos shouted something which sounded like a string of curses, and which Jensen only found to be rather rude, though he delighted in the manâs frustration, and felt the corners of his mouth twitch in amusement. He found himself overcome with the urge to shout, and he did, wholly and with joy. The boyish glee would be embarrassing if it were not so entirely freeing. And at once he was away, and settled into the rhythm quite quickly, though stayed clutching closely to the reigns, lest he be thrown from the horse entirely. He felt for once wholly gleeful, and made a point to shout his praise to the horse as they ran, though his voice was likely taken by the wind, and he did not once ever think to look back.

Words: 8,232 Summary: âLucas kept remembering Maxâs face, the tears on her face, the frantic look in her eyes, the ragged, wheezing breaths sheâd drew in. Sheâd yelled at him in the middle of everything, but it hadnât offended him. Just like back at the house in the woods, her loud voice had been thick with fear and frustration. And easing that fear was what he needed to focus on. But heâd be lying if he said that the possibility of her being mad at him now wasnât slumping his shoulders, pushing the corners of his mouth down. He didnât want her to be angry with him. So he hoped warm food would make her feel better. â [A Lumax Zombie Apocalypse AU]

The frustration that Satoru feels when he completely stops seeing you as just one of his best friends.
Youâre so pretty, modeling the dress youâll be wearing on your date with some guy who probably dims in comparison to you. Suguru says you should try the outfit without the cardigan, so you take it off for a second and do a little 360 for the trio. Shoko gasps when she sees the lacy details that were hidden by the coat and Suguru claps in validation. âYouâre so gonna get some.â
Satoru just watches, cheek resting in his fist as he half listens to the little debate between Shoko and Suguru. Itâs all a blur as he focuses on the one glowing in front of him.
âSatoru?â You wave your hand in front of him.
âHm?â He blinks up at you, acting like he wasn't zoned out while staring.
âTie-breaker. Coat or no coat?â
He had heard what Suguru said when you took the cardigan off. 'Youâre so gonna get some.'
He doesnât want that.
âYou should stay layered. You might get cold later.â
Suguru groans in disapproval, falling back into the couch cushion, while Shoko grins, smugly, at her small victory.
âCoat it is.â You smile, running back to the bathroom to finish getting ready.
âYou like her, huh?â Suguru asks as soon as youâre out of sight, a squint of betrayal in his eyes.
âPfft, nah. What makes you think that?â Satoru defends.
âShe asked for our opinion on the dress and you went silent," Shoko says, throwing a knowing smirk at Satoru.
âYou donât want her to get laid or something? Whyâd you vote for the granny cardigan?â Suguru adds, arms crossed over his chest.
âI want to see you take care of her when sheâs sick. I did it last time, and she was unbearable. Also,â he turns to answer Shokoâs remark, âwhat can I say? Iâve got a lot on my mind.â
âA lot of her on your mind.â Suguru nods over at you.
Satoru turns, a lucent gleam in his eyes when he sees you.
âAlright, guys. Iâll be back before-â
âDonât rush!â Shoko says, giggling at the dopey look on Satoruâs face.
Thereâs a smirk tugging on Suguruâs lips. âHave fun.â
âCall if you need me to pick you up," Satoru blurts, sitting up straight on the lounge chair he was seated in.
Shoko gasps and Suguruâs eyes go wide for a second.
âUh... sure. Will do. Love you guys, bye!â You walk past your friends, opening the front door and shutting it behind you.
Your perfume had some effect on Satoru because for some reason his heart was racing and he was unable to calm it down.
âWhat?â Satoru asks when he notices the way his friends look at him. âIâm the only one with a car here.â
âUh-huh, letâs put it that way," Shoko says, sharing a menacing look with Suguru.
â
You did end up having to call Satoru. Your date was the most annoying, insufferable person you had ever met and you weren't going to pretend like you were enjoying your time with him for the rest of the night. How can someone be so different the moment youâre alone together? You couldnât stand him, so you excused yourself from the table and went to the restroom halfway through your meal.
You called Satoru, hoping he wasn't kidding about calling him if you needed a ride home.
âHey, uh, I know this is really inconsiderate of me, but can you come pick me up from the restaurant? If you canât itâs totally fine. Iâll stay.â
âAre you okay?â
âYeah, I'm fine. It turns out I canât stand this guy.â You chuckle, your hand reaching for the sensor beneath the water faucet, the cool water running through your fingers. "He's gross and just... I don't know."
âDid he do anything to you? Are you okay? âCause, you know, I can kick his ass.â
âYou already asked me that, 'toru. Iâm okay. Heâs justâŚâ you pause, a sigh filling in the silence, â...different from what I remember. I donât know this guy.â
Satoru is already sitting in his car. The moment you asked him to pick you up, he grabbed his keys and headed for the car.
âGive me ten minutes.â
âIt takes twenty to get here.â
âToo bad. Iâm running a few red lights. Sit tight.â
âSa-â
The call ends and youâre left staring at the contact photo you have for him. You turn your screen off and stare into the mirror. You donât know if you should stay in the bathroom until Satoru gets there or if you should go back out to the man waiting for you.
â
âSo, Satoru likes her, huh?â Shoko says, leaning back in the lounge chair Satoru sat in before.
âWho would have guessed? Weâve all been friends for years and heâs never looked at her like that.â
âWe should invest in some noise cancelling headphones. Who knows what could happen after tonight?â
Suguru furrows his eyebrows in confusion, so Shoko grins and demonstrates. She rocks back and forth in the old lounge chair, the chair creaking and squealing.
âOh.â Suguruâs face further scrunches. He didn't need the image of his friends doing that together, in his mind.
â
Your phone vibrates on the sink, and Satoruâs name appears on the screen when you flip it. You quickly answer the call.
âHey, iâm outside.â
âHow do I walk out of here without seeming like a bitch? I didnât think this through.â
âFirst, walk out the restaurant doors. Then, get in my car. Itâs pretty simple, honestly.â
âWe havenât paid the bill.â
âFuck it. Let him pay.â
âThatâs just wrong. Alright, iâll be out in a bit. Bye.â
âBye.â
You sum up all the courage you have and walk out of the bathroom. Once you reach the table, you pull out some cash you have just laying around in your purse, like forty-something bucks, and set it down in the middle of the table.
âHopefully thatâs enough to cover half of it.â
âWhere are you going?â Your date asks.
âTo keep it polite, I have to go. Have a good rest of your night.â
You walked out of the restaurant, immediately spotting Satoruâs blue Camaro.
The second you get in, you make yourself comfortable, removing your heels and taking down your hair from its updo.
âWhatâs wrong?â Satoru asks, when you donât say anything.
âItâs fine. This guy just wasnât the one.â
Satoruâs chest feels tight now that youâre in the car. The smell of your perfume has returned and youâre glowing in the moonlight. It makes him think of the effort you put into looking the way you do, and how you ended up having to hide in the bathroom.
âDo you wanna go home?â
Youâre looking in the sun visor mirror, bobby pins in your mouth as you fix your hair so that itâs not in your face once Satoru starts driving.
âMm⌠whatever you want to do,â you say, muffled by the pieces of metal pressing into your lips.
It wouldnât be whatever he wants to do, though. All he wants to do is kiss you, right now. Do something to soothe the ache you must be feeling.
âWhy are you acting like this?â He asks, watching you as you place another pin in your hair.
You laugh through your nose, a bobby pin still between your lips. You put it in your hair before answering.
âLike what?â You look at him while you put your seatbelt on.
âLike this doesn't bother you. You don't have to put up a front, you know? I'm not gonna laugh at you."
The metal clicks, and you fold the sun visor back up. âBecause it didnât bother me. Iâm not gonna settle for someone I hate being around."
Part of Satoru wanted this to go well for you. He wanted to see a brilliant smile on your face when you got home. So, the fact that it didnât end up that way strangely caused some heartache for him.
âDonât look so down.â You give him a kind smile and pinch his cheek. âIâm okay. Really.â
He tries to distract himself from the warmth that seeps into his cheeks from your quick gesture. âWell, I donât want to go home. Is that okay, with you?â
âWhatâs up with you?â You ask, bringing one of your legs up and folding it comfortably on the seat.
âNothing.â
You stare at him until he breaks out his contagious smile and laugh.
âReally, nothing. I just want to spend some time out tonight. Shoko and Suguru want to stay home and be couch potatoes."
You see your date walking out of the restaurant, phone against his ear. He doesnât look too defeated, but you donât want him to see you with Satoru and make any bold assumptions.
âOkay, thatâs totally fine, but can we go?â Your leg goes back down, meeting the floor mat and you turn to face the window.
Satoru analyzes your behavior and your expression. Your arms are crossed, you refuse to look in his direction again. Itâs weird compared to how you were acting two seconds ago.
âWhat?â Satoru turns to look at whatever made you shrink, and as soon as he sees him he rolls his window up. âReally?â His eyes are lidded in disappointment. Itâs not in you as a person, but in your lack of respect for yourself, choosing someone so far below your league.
âHe was nice when I first met him.â
Satoru puts the gear in reverse, backing out of the parking spot. âHe looks stupid and on top of that he acts like it, too? God.â
âI know, I know.â You lean against the car door and stare out the window.
âWhat made you think you deserved him? Honestly, I canât wrap my head around how low this is for someone like you.â
âI donât know.â
Your responses to Satoru's interrogation kept getting shorter and shorter and he realized he was beating a horse that was already down.
âYou know I care," he mumbles, breaking the heavy silence. âI donât mean to tell you who to date and who you should be with.â
âI hate this conversation. Youâre not my dad, Satoru. Itâs fine.â You sit up, back against the seat and face forward. âWhere are we, anyway?â
âI just followed a random road to see where it would lead. I donât wanna go home, but I also donât want to know where I am.â
âSo, weâre lost.â You laugh.
âHey, as long as we have phones with enough battery, weâre not really lost.â
âRight.â You grin, continuing to watch the road. You look over the steering wheel to see how much gas the car has. Itâs two marks below the bold F.
âCan you tell me something?â
You turn to Satoru, giving him your full attention. Heâs been more serious than you know him to be since you left the house.
âWhatâs up?â
âIâm not trying to rehash this father-like conversation, but as one of your best friends⌠what were you thinking when you accepted a date with this guy?â He glances over at you for a second. âWhat went through your mind when you said 'yes' to a date with him?â
âPotential love, dates, butterflies. All the stuff that goes into getting to know someone as more than an acquaintance or friend.â You fidget with the extra hair tie on your wrist.
âYou want all of that?â He asks, glimpsing at you again.
You nod, silently.
âYouâre pretty enough to fuck around with whoever you want, you know? I know some people who wanna do some pretty... vulgar things with you."
Your eyes go wide at how far south the conversation went. You cracked the second you looked at Satoru though. He looked somewhat proud to be friends with someone who could get some anytime.
âThatâs⌠good to know, I guess.â Your mind stumbles over the part where he called you pretty enough.
âYouâre not interested in that, though, are you?â
You wince, jokingly. âItâs just not my cup of tea. I want something more long-term.â
Satoru grins, almost like he wants to talk about himself.
âThatâs not your cup of tea, is it?â You reciprocate the grin.
âNo, no. Believe it or not, the last relationship I was in lasted a whole two months.â
You slapped the car door dramatically. âA whole two months?!â
âStop it. Itâs nothing, really," Satoru jokes, grinning with faux pride.
âHey, iâm not shaming you. Youâre not down with commitment and thatâs fine. We're young. There's no need to rush."
âI havenât found someone I really want to commit to. I'm not stupid enough to ignore the fact that people are really only attracted to my body. They can't stand when I open my mouth, so I figured itâs better to fuck around than to put my heart into something that wonât last without sex.â
Satoru's personality was for people with acquired taste. On the other hand, Satoru's physical appearance was for anyone and everyone. The people who could appreciate all of him would be in for the most amazing ride, because even as his friend, you could confidently say that there is no one like him anywhere in the world. You can only hum in acknowledgement of how romantically lonely he must feel.
âWhat?â You ask when the car stops. Satoru puts the car in park before turning it off. âWeâre not out of gas, so whatâs the problem?â
He unbuckles his seatbelt and turns to face you, one leg bent on the seat. Heâs met with a breathtaking sight. You look stunning in that navy blue dress, and that shade smeared over your lips was calling his name. He can see part of your thigh from where your dress rides up.
âCan I talk to you about something?â The tension behind the question was enough to make your ears go red.
âOf course you can. Youâre scaring me, but go on.â
He smiles, trying to lighten up the mood. He knows better than to just dump information like this on you so heavily, but he can't go home tonight without telling you how he feels. He already doesnât expect much to come of telling you this, but it's been eating him alive and he can't keep it in anymore.
âYou've been on my mind a lot, lately." He sees your slightly furrowed eyebrows. They match the unintentional pout on your lips. Youâre confused and for some reason you feel nervous, like your heart might escape your ribcage.
âWhat does that mean?â You ask, wanting a clearer understanding. He could be worried about you in a totally platonic way. He could be wondering about what you've been up to lately. You're having trouble assuming there's romantic notes to his statement after the brief discussion you just had.
âIt's exactly as it sounds. I've been thinking about you." He's not smiling, he's not laughing yet this still sounds like a joke that heâs running to mess with you.
âYou done with your jokes? We could both be home right about now," you say, not intending for your words to come out as sharp as they did. His hand is suddenly cupping your cheek, his thumb brushing away a speck of glitter from it.
âYou say goodnight to me in the sweetest wayâlike you won't see me in the morning. And the soft smile you give me before you shut the door... it lingers in my mind. I dream of it from time to time."
You're trying so hard not to lean into his touch and nuzzle your cheek into his palm, but you make no effort to push his hand away. âWhat are you talking about, Satoru? Don't you think you're reading into it a little too much? I do that for all three of you. Ask Shoko and Suguru.â
His hand has been on your cheek for a while now, and heâs still looking at you like he has things to get off his chest. âI know you don't say it the same way to them as you do to me." He stops, a little sigh leaving him. Heâs probably making you dizzy with all of this news, based on the look on your face. He retracts his hand and rests it on his thigh. You look stunned, so he cuts to the chase. âTo be even more clear, I donât see you as a friend. It doesnât seem right to see you that way when I can picture us doing more. Being more."
âDoing more?â You repeat, cheeks growing warm.
âHolding hands, kissing, being alone togetherâmore.â
The heavy silence returns, both of you nervously avoiding eye contact.
âI..." you huff. "I need some air.â You unbuckle yourself before exiting the car. Your scent remains in the car even after the door shuts behind you, leaving Satoru to wonder if things are screwed with you.
Your back is against the door, your hands interlocked in front of your eyes, shielding you from the gentle moonlight. You groan, irritated by the conflicted thoughts that came with Satoru's revelation.
Itâs not long before Satoru comes out and joins you, leaning on the side of his car. It's cold and he doesn't want you to get sick again. His heart could barely handle your involuntarily weak display the first time.
âI didnât stress you out, did I?â He asks, turning his head to look at you. You shake your head, your hands still covering your eyes. âThereâs really no part of you that can envision an us between me and you?â
You chuckle, a sound that makes his heart pang. âItâs funny... you know, a long time ago it was all I dreamed about.â
Now this was baffling news to Satoru. How long ago was a long time ago? A couple months ago? Last year? Three years ago? And why didnât you say anything?
âI considered you a pursuit that was out of reach. You hadâhaveâ all these girls just throwing themselves at you, and I couldnât be one of them, so I befriended you instead.â
âHow long ago was a long time ago?â He asks, nervous to hear the answer.
âLike last year in March. It was during your phase where you would never come home.â
He feels like an asshole. Especially since not too much later, he developed similar feelings for you that he endlessly denied.
âYou liked the me you never got to see?â
You both chuckled at the rhyme of his words, your broken senses of humor adding some lightheartedness to the conversation.
âI guess you not coming home was more calming because I didn't have to be nervous to see you.â
You crossed your arms. The cardigan protected you, but not enough. The cold wind was starting to nip at your cheeks. Satoru notices and moves closer to you.
âLetâs go back inside, yeah?â
You didnât want to. You were nervous being âstrandedâ with Satoru already, but minimizing the space between you was even more nerve-wracking. He was your greatest temptation before, and you could easily create those labyrinths that guide him into your mind again if you got close enough.
âIâll be fine," you say, looking straight ahead at the field of weeds in front of you.
âYouâre gonna catch a cold. Get in the car," Satoru prompts. He thought back to the tired look on your face as you laid in bed sick, waiting for him to bring you warm soup.
âNo," you insisted, turning away from him.
He inched closer, not wanting to look at your back. âPlease, get in the car." He thought of the gracious look on your sick face when he brought you another blanket to keep you warm.
âI said no, Satoru. I don't want to get in the car with you."
You were being stubborn as hell, and something about it made Satoruâs blood boil to the point where he did whatever his mind told him to do. You were suddenly pinned to the car, your hands on Satoruâs chest to keep some distance. He blocked every gust of wind that threatened to bite at your skin, and enveloped you in his warmth. You donât know how, but in this freezing temperature, Satoruâs hands felt like sunlight on your cheeks. His face was centimeters away from yours, his bright eyes searching for a loophole in your feelings for him. Your eyes spoke with an infinite amount of possibility, and some of it didn't make sense, so he kissed you in hopes of translating what you were trying to say.
You didnât have any fight left in you. Not when you felt so secure in this close proximity. Now, all you wanted was to be in the car with him, alone.
The kiss was released with light breaths from both of you, a look of feeling complete on Satoruâs face. âWill you get in the damn car,â he whispers, his arms caging you against the car.
âSay please," you say in the same intimate volume as him.
âPlease," he complies, allowing his eyes to flit between your eyes and your lips.
âPretty please?" you push.
âPretty please," he says, the corners of his lips twitching.
âHow about pretty please with a cherry on top?â
âGet in the car," he says through a laugh.
You chuckle, shoving him lightly before opening the door and entering the car. Satoru gets in the drivers seat and suddenly it all feels strange. Strange, but in the best way.
The tension from before returns. There's no wind blowing to fill in the silence when you both stop talking.
âDo you ever think of me when you're alone?â It was a weird question to be asked by him, especially since you had already told him that your feelings for him were left behind.
âNever," you reply, a softness in your tone that held memories of when all you thought about was Satoru.
He's somewhat disappointed, seeing as though there's a chance he might be too late.
âDo you think that will change after tonight?â He seems to be getting closer, or at least his hands are. Your skin is irresistible and he wants to feel how soft you are. He's been craving you for so long, and you're right there.
âThereâs no way to tell.â You can see how slowly his hand is traveling. A minute ago it was on his lap, now itâs on the armrest between your seats. You canât wait any longer. The suspense might make you jump out of the car again, so you grab his hand and put it on your thigh, where your dress rides up.
âIâll throw the question back to you. Do you think of me when you're alone?â You ask him now because he wonât give you some bullshit response at a time like this, when heâs getting everything heâs wanted for who knows how long.
âAll the time,â he responds so quickly. âWhen I wake up, before I go to sleep, in the shower, while I brush my teeth.â Thereâs this foolish look on his face, like he would give anything to never lose the ability to have you on his mind all the time. "You're in there, organizing the shrine I made for you," he admits, with a grin. His thumb presses into your thigh, massaging the plush skin. It makes you nervous as hell, but you like it.
âHave you told Suguru and Shoko?â
He chuckles, remembering the conversation he had with them after you left. âIâm positive they know."
Once again, you're left staring at each other in silence, drowning in the tension youâve created within yourselves. Satoru has yet to move his hand away from your thigh, not letting up even when he feels goosebumps spread on your skin. He tests the boundaries you have set up, finding no resistance from you when his hand reaches further up your dress.
âYouâre not gonna tell me to stop?â He asks as his fingers are met with lace, a texture that makes his heart thud rapidly in his chest.
You shake your head, leaning back in the seat. His fingers ghost over the front of your panties, finding a satin bow just below the elastic band.
âWere you going to let that guy touch you? Is that why you wore these?â He hasnât even seen them, and yet he can tell theyâre the cutest thing ever.
âMaybe," you mumble, looking away in slight embarrassment.
âCan I see them?â He asks.
You nod, allowing him to slowly pull up your dress. Your heart drops when you hear him gasp.
âGod, no way," he says, sounding defeated. His ears slowly turn a bright shade of red as he observes the material covering your intimate area.
âStop,â you whine, feeling flustered by his reaction and the way he stares.
His hand returns to its previous spot, continuing to play with the part of the elastic that sticks to your hip.
âYou wear these types of panties on every date you go on?â
You nod, biting your lip as his fingers move just to feel the fabric. His touch is still ghost-likeâlight, barely there, but itâs working you up anyway. Thereâs barely enough friction, yet you can feel your wetness begin to ruin the garment.
He sighs. âYou know, no one deserves you.â His tone is smooth and he smiles at you, an angel taking control of his features. âNot even me, but I can make up for the one who missed you tonight.â
He spares his attention to the spot in the middle of your panties, only smiling when a breathy moan involuntarily leaves you.
âGod..." you groan in embarrassment, covering your face with your hands. "I canât with myself."
His thumb rubs up and down your clothed slit, applying pressure when he reaches your clit.
âDonât be shy. Make as much noise as you want,â he says, luring a gasp from you.
You look away again, red-faced, feeling embarrassed beyond belief.
âWhat?â A low chuckle follows. His hands settle on your thighs as he leans in and tries to look at your flustered face.
âThis is weird.â You look out the window, too nervous to look at Satoru.
âHow come?â
You giggle. âI canât stop seeing you as one of my friends. Itâs strange to experience something like this with you.â
âI would hope Suguru and Shoko arenât touching you like this.â His hand splays on your thigh, kneading softly. âAre they?â He asks, after a pause.
âOf course not.â
He seems satisfied with that response because heâs trying to hold back a smile, but the corners of his lips are twitching. His fingers snap the elastic band of your panties against your skin a couple more times.
âIs it too weird to go on?â He asks.
You consider the facts. He already touched you, he confessed his feelings for you before he touched you so you know he wasn't lying about his feelings for you and he doesnât just want sex. You had those feelings for him before, but claimed to have lost them with time.
Your overwhelming thoughts are enough to put an end to what was going on. You pull down your dress, hiding the evidence of his touch, and sit up straight in the seat. âMaybe we should head home before we do something we might regret later.â
He hums and smiles, not an ounce of disappointment in his features. âNo argument from me."
Satoru put his seatbelt on and watched as you did the same before starting the car. There was no need for him to set up the GPS because all he did was drive straight, so all he had to do was drive back the other way.
You didnât expect the car ride to be so quiet. Maybe he did want things to go further. You couldnât bear to look back at Satoru, even though you could feel him side eyeing you as he drove. There were a couple times where he turned his head to look at you when you stopped at red lights, but you knew you couldnât look back until you had something to say. You were overthinking everything that happened until that point. What can you say when you just went through an entire roller coaster of emotions with someone you call a best friend? Someone who has now seen you in a vulnerable position.
âDid you at least eat?â Satoru asks, finally breaking the heavy silence that engulfed the car.
âUh, yeah. I was able to get through my meal," you respond, glancing at him quickly before turning back to face the window.
He nods in acknowledgement. You see the stop sign at the end of your street, signaling the closeness of home.
Satoru parks the car in the driveway, and you finish removing your shoes. You enter the house, expecting to see Suguru and Shoko up waiting for you guys, but to your surprise, the doors to their bedrooms are shut.
âGoodnight, Satoru," you say. âThanks again, for picking me up.â
âYeah, no worries,â he responds. âGoodnight.â
You canât shake the void left in your gut after your time with Satoru. You sit on your bed for a moment thinking of the intimacy that occurred between you and him. The gentleness of his touch, the lack of judgement from him when you basically told him that you dress your best even for scumbags. Something inside you was begging you to tell him how much you wanted him to sleep in your roomâin your bed. And thatâs exactly what you aimed for with this rush of adrenaline that surged through you. You rose off the bed quickly, and made haste to reach his bedroom.
You knocked, calling his name once. Once was all it took for him to leap to open the door.
âCan you help me with something?â You asked, hoping he held no ill will towards you and that he wouldnât deny you.
âSure. With what?â
You motion for him to follow you to your room, and he does with no further questions, following your bare feet as you lead him to your room.
âI tied the knot for my dress a little too tightly." You let out a quiet chuckle, your nervousness imbued into it.
âOh, I see," he says, stifling a grin. "Turn around.â His finger circles in the air.
You turn your back to him, facing the mirror on your vanity. You can feel his knuckles grazing your lower back as he takes the time to slowly loosen the knot, the straps that once sat wrapped around your waist dropping loosely.
âThere,â he murmurs, still standing behind you, looking at you through the mirror.
âThank you,â you say so quietly that itâs almost a whisper.
Normally, that is the cue for someone to leave, but there was this branch of electricity connecting him to you. He couldnât find a reason to step away from you, so instead he stepped closer. His arms encircled your waist, his hands interlocking above your lower abdomen. Your stomach swarmed with butterfliesâblood thirsty ones that knew all too well that they wouldn't be leaving anytime soon, so long as Satoru was in your room.
He leaned in to kiss your shoulder, an act that brought goosebumps to your skin. "You look really pretty." You give in to the feeling, tilting your head to give him the entire canvas of that side of your neck. He wondered if you would be upset if you saw his kisses on your neck in the morning.
He stops and looks for your approval first because he has arrived centimeters behind the line between friends who are really comfortable with each other and something deeper. You have to let him know that itâs okay to cross this line.
âItâs okay,â you say, squeezing the hands that rest on your lower abdomen. âDon't stop."
Thatâs the green light he needed in order to move on. He did not hesitate at all in pulling back his arms and undoing the knot that held your dress up. He watched as the smooth velvet cascaded down your body, pooling at your feet, leaving you in nothing but those precious lace panties. You felt vulnerable with your bare chest out, but made no attempt to hide yourself.
He was frozen for a second or two, speechless at the sight before him.
âNo one deserves you,â he finally says, his arms snaking around your torso. His lips start leaving behind their marks on the other side of your neck. He drags his kisses down your shoulder, biting once, then twice, resulting in a couple giggles from you.
âClose the door, please,â you say, realizing Shoko and Suguru would see what was happening if they opened their doors.
Satoru releases you only to close the door, locking it for safe measures. As soon as heâs back, heâs wrapping his arms around you before pushing both of you towards your bed. He starts stripping his clothes off, until he's left in just his boxers. His eyes never leave yours, a lovestruck smile on his face.
âYou will never know how many times Iâve dreamt of this scenario."
âStop.â You giggle, withstanding the sting of his lips on more than you neck. Itâs heat on your chest and on your stomach now, his hands holding your waist so gently. Youâll look like some abstract piece of art by morning with the endless waves of kisses that Satoru gives you. He wants you so badly. Devastatingly so. He wants to prove that he is the closest to deserving you by the end of the night.
Your heartbeat is inconsolable in your ribcage. The eye contact brought some reality to the situation. He chuckles at the doe-eyed look on your face before refocusing on his task. He's nearing the elastic band of your underwear, those cute lacy ones he got to touch in the car. His touch is already affecting you, the evidence being a wet spot reemerging in the middle of your underwear.
"You're so warm and soft, and..." he sighs, your body making his mind cloud. He couldn't have ever accurately imagined how stunning you would be with just the golden street lamp's light shining through your window. "...you smell really fucking good." His hands go beneath the elastic band of your underwear, dragging his dainty fingers through your slit enough times to earn a small gasp from you, before pulling his hand out. "Bet you taste amazing, too," he says, wrapping his lips around his glossy digits. "Mhm..." he practically moans when your taste coats his tastebuds. "Sweeter than I could have ever imagined."
You don't think you'll get over Satoru saying these explicit things to you.
"More. Fuck, I need more." There's so much he wants to do to you, so little time in the night despite it only being 11:30. "God, you're so..." he cuts himself off and kisses down your stomach, impatientlyâdesperately. "...so pretty. Soâfuckâ so pretty. Gonna make you feel so good."
"Okay, 'toru, make sure to breathe," you tease, running your fingers through his soft locks as he nears your throbbing core.
He drags his nose up and down the wet patch of your panties, audibly inhaling your scent and exhaling through shuddered breaths. He sounds feral, his aching cock creating its own pool of arousal in his boxers. The tip of his nose was covered in your slick, the remnants of you on his skin driving him absolutely crazy. Once he absolutely couldn't take it anymore, he yanked your underwear down, almost tearing the pretty fabric and tossed it onto the floor. You were soaked at the sight of his pure lust towards you. Those eyes were darker than you've ever seen them before.
He tries to be slow and gentle for you. You're the one thing he's wanted for the longest time and now he has you. You're not guaranteed to be his forever, after this, but at least the night is secured and he has this one chance to prove that he would do it right with you. That he could handle your body with a tenderness and loving that would make you weep. Everything you want in a lover will be given to you in one act of demonstrating how undeniably in love with you he is.
His attempt at slow sensuality never reaches you. His arms are hooked tightly around your thighs to prevent you from squirming away from his greedy mouth. He wants everything you give him to never end. The melodic sound of you moaning his name, the sweet nectar that just keeps drooling out of your cunt, the sting on his scalp from the firm hold you have on his hair and the tugging. He's in heaven. If the possibility of this reoccurring is nonexistent, he wants this moment to loop. For there to be a glitch in real life that allows him to replay this scenario as many times as he likes, like a story with multiple endings.
"You taste so good. So fucking good, princess. Wanna give you a taste," he rambles. He unwraps his right arm from your thigh and uses his forearm to pin it down so that he can use his fingers on you. He bends all his fingers down except for his index and middle fingers. Your slick is already streaming out of you, ready to be collected, but he can't resist the urge to dip his fingertips into your pulsing hole. "Oh fuck, you're so wet," he utters in awe, quickly tossing the idea of just his fingertips going in when his long, lithe fingers sink into you with ease.
"Satoru," you choke out, a sharp gasp following. The pads of his fingers brush against that spot within you that forces you to bite your lip. Your heart is racing. What if you get caught? How would you explain what's going on to your friends and would the dynamic of your living situation change because of it? You care, but clearly not enough to second guess this moment again, like you did in the car.
"Mmm..." he moans against your clit, his lips smacking after releasing the now throbbing bundle. "So sweet." He pulls his fingers out of you and admires the glaze that drips down to his knuckles. He wants to be selfish and put them in his mouth, but his need for you to know how good you are to his tastebuds overpowers those thoughts. "Open, pretty," he says, tapping his wet fingers against your lips. He watches with parted lips as you take his slick coated digits into your mouth, shutting your lips around them to completely suck off your essence. "Good, huh?" A pleased grin appears when you nod. "Yeah... I want it back." He pulls his fingers out of your mouth and puts them on your right breast, smearing your saliva all over your nipple until it pebbles.
All you can do is say "huh?" before your lips are enveloped by his. The kiss starts out slowâ he's taking a moment to appreciate how perfect your lips feel against his. For a minute you can feel the way he innocently wants you. You have butterflies in your stomach all over again.
His hunger for you grows with every sharp breath you release and the squirming beneath his unrelenting hands on your chest. Your heart has been pounding in your ears since he slipped his tongue into your mouth and you have goosebumps from all the rubbing, brushing, and tweaking he offers your nipples, the throbbing in your cunt only intensifying as you withstand it. He thinks the whimpers that seep into your kisses are the cutest sounds ever and he doesn't want them to stop, so he glides a hand down your abdomen and gives you the touch you're missing.
You break the kiss, throwing your head back into the pillow at the feeling of Satoru rubbing your clit. He watches through gleaming eyes the way your jaw hangs and allows the sweetest moans to spill from your kissed up lips.
"Feeling good?" He asks, grinning when you respond with a moan that makes you clasp a hand over your mouth. "Yeah? That's an answer, too." He chuckles, watching intently as you crumble beneath his touch, not some zero's who made a fool out of himself.
You uncover your mouth, your sounds amplifying and flowing freely. "Satoru," you gasp. "Oh, fuckâ S-Satoru!" The last words you manage to cry out before you cum without a warning.
You look way too pretty arching your back off the bed and chasing friction from his hand. Your neck looks palpable like that, exposed for him like you want him to mark it up and take a few bites.
"Let me make you feel good, pretty girl," he coos, drunk off the cute sounds of the heaves and sobs that wrack through your chest, your little whines shining through them. Lustful, lidded eyes watch as you try to wriggle away from his touch.
"P-Please," you huff out, your trembling thighs working to shut around his hand. It's too much, your peak has passed and now you're left to bear the overwhelming feeling of his unstopping fingers.
"I know, I know. It's terrible..." he murmurs. His tip is leaking so much at the sight of your body jerking and your eyes welling with tears. He really loves the way you've surrendered yourself to him. "You're so pretty." He sighs, dreamily. He stops and wiggles his hand out of the tight embrace of your thighs. You take a deep breath and blink away tears, focusing on the comforting movement of his hands caressing your thighs. He can see the way you look at his body. His chest, the sculpted muscles of his abdomen, the pale happy trail that leads to a part of him that you are unfamiliar with.
He crawls over you, his lower body wedged between your legs. "Don't be scared to touch," he says, his tone sultry. He grabs ahold of your hand and places it on his chest, initiating the contact for you. You take control and allow your hands to roam his body. Like you're in a room full of random unpressed buttons, you explore the different reactions you get from touching different parts of him. You discovered that his nipples are sensitive. He groaned into your neck when you palmed at his pecs and borderline whimpered when you focused your touch on his peaks. He shuddered when you traced along his ribs, but once you neared his stomach and waist, things got hot for you all over again. Your heart raced as he breathed into your neck due to the feeling of your nails gently scratching along his abs. He was rutting his clothed bulge against your cunt, desperate, low moans leaving him with every graze of your nails along his waist.
"F-Fuck, I can't wait anymore. Please, let me in." He whips out the cutest puppy eyes you've ever seen, and though they're unnecessary, you're not opposed to him having to resort to those means.
"Y-Yeah, okay," you breathe, feeling the throbbing in your cunt intensify when he stopped rolling his hips against you.
He's rushing, his movement stuttered and his hands shaking with desperation as he works his boxers off. He's impressed with the amount of precum that went into them, but he doesn't waste time admiring the mess any longer once he frees his achingly hard, drooling cock. It's sensitive to the touch. He'll cum if he doesn't play his cards right while lathering his length with the essence that beads at his tip. With that taken care of, he comes close to you again.
"This is gonna be the slowest start ever," he says under his breath, eyeing that sweet little smile on your face, like you understand the turmoil he's going through with just trying to get inside you. His tip nudges your clit, spreading some of his precum onto the nub as he guides it up and down your slit a couple times. He's working himself up to sinking in because he knows how wet you are. After a few more strokes, he presses just the tip in, nestling it into your warmth with a groan. You gasp as he slowly drives himself into you, the stretch his girth induces proving to be immense. He tries to steady his stuttering hips as he pushes more of his length in.
"Little more, just a liiittle more," he says through soft breaths, more to himself than you. Once he glides the rest of his length in, he feels like he's going to explode. He's throbbing so hard and you're not helping at all with the brief, inconsistent spasming of your walls. "Oh fuck... shit," he whimpers, thrusting only halfway into you. "Sorryâfuckâs-sorry... I can't-" He gasps when he thrusts the rest of the way in, spewing his load as he just grinds against you.
Your eyes widen as you watch him, his eyes shut tightly, his jaw hanging ajar to release shaky breaths. His cheeks, neck and chest are blazed, bright color smothered over his pale skin.
"Shit..." he rasps, still taking deep breaths.
You can't even ridicule him for this when he looks so fine. The laugh he let out was enough to make your thighs twitch.
"It's alright, Satoru. It's getting pretty late, anyway."
"No-the-fuck it's not," he says, looking down at you with the smallest crease between his brows. He's wanted thisâwanted youâfor way too long and he can't leave your room without showing you just how badly he desires you. It's a need, at this point.
A chill runs down your spine and your heart drops at his response.
"I mean, i'm not tired. Are you?" He asks, softening a little after coming in so hot with his last response.
You're not and even if you were, it's those eyes... They compel you to want to do things for his sake. They're so soft and you feel wanted beneath their force. You feel everything he said to you in the car when you peer into his eyes.
"No. I'm not tired either," you respond, which instantly puts a smile on his face.
"Good. Let me try again."
Neither of you mentioned any of what happened within that quick span of time. No mentions of him spilling the second he got inside you or you trying to end the night to save him the embarrassment, and it turned out for the better. No awkwardness once he recovered and went back to proving his love for you. He went straight into it, thrusting at a slow pace to start you off. He held onto your hips as he leaned in and kissed all over your chest, sucking your delicate skin to leave little reminders of him for you to see in the morning.
He groans, muffled by your warm skin, when you scratch the back of his head, guiding your nails through the short hairs of his undercut and down the nape of his neck. He's purring like a satisfied cat, the soft breaths he lets out through his nose grazing your neck.
With all these good feelings comes Satoru picking up the pace. His hips meet yours a little more quickly and suddenly both of you get a little more courage to make more sound.
"Fuck," you whimper. "Satoru... S-Satoru..."
"I know..." he grunts. "I know, baby. I feel really good, too."
You just look so damn pretty, with your starry eyes and your messy hair, and the way you keep moaning his name. He has to kiss you again. Each time he kissed you before was accompanied by fireworks. This time... who knows? He certainly won't unless he gains the courage to do it once more.
He leans forward and stares deep into your eyes. The level of intimacy has doubled down and you feel like your heart is trying even harder to lurch out of your chest. He's not stopping, you can feel his breath on your lips as he pants through the exertion of his hips. Then, once again, with a whimper as he closes the distance between your mouths, he kisses you. It's not fireworks this time, it's an entire fire and you kissing him back like you need him just as much is fanning the wild flames.
"Love... you," he disperses the words through his kisses. He doesn't only say it once. He says it multiple times as your lips are moving, making those pauses purposeful. "Fuckâ I love you," he repeats, breaking the kiss when you don't say anything. "Come on," he chuckles. "Say it back."
"Satoru..." you say, softly.
"You say it all the time to us. What's another time?"
You bite back a laugh when you see those brilliant eyes again. He knows the effect they have on people and uses them to his advantage.
"It doesn't..." he groans, cursing under his breath when you suddenly clench around him. "...have to mean anything more than it usually does."
You're hesitant, but figure that as long as he doesn't take it as more than what he's used toâat least until things are talked throughâthere can't be any harm in saying what he wants to hear.
"Love you, 'toru."
The words are way too sweet, too gentle on his ears. The smile you offered as you delivered those words was devastatingly beautiful. You've said this a million times, each time so friendly, so lovingly, the meaning never feigned or faded with its repetition, but in that moment, he felt the words more than he ever did before. Your plush thighs are pressed against his hips, your hands are on his chest, and he can still smell that perfume you spritzed on your skin before you left. He's never heard you like this before, so sultry that it almost seems like an invasion of privacy.
"Again... say it again, p-please." With the scene that is playing out before his very eyes, he wants to imagine you meaning it as a term for lovers.
"I-I..." you let out a sharp gasp, your words cut off by the feeling of his cock brushing against that weak spot within you. "I love y-you, Satoru."
You're saying it to him only, right now. It's not 'I love you guys', it's 'I love you, Satoru', and he's drowning in it all. Your voice, the words, the blissed out look on your face. He's weak.
"Yeah?" He laughs, sounding almost delirious from how good he feels and how he's trying so hard not to cum.
"Mhm," you respond.
"T-That's good to know," he says, breathily. He's picking up the pace again, almost knocking the wind out of you with that first thrust in the change of pace. You're scratching up his back, wrapping your legs around his waist while he moans into the crook of your neck.
"G-Gonna cum, gonna fucking cum, again."
"Please... cum inside," you babble, nonsensically.
"Yeah? You want it inside again?" He asks, grinning when you hum and nod in confirmation. Who is he to deny you of such a simple want?
With a few more harder thrusts, he's filling you to the brim again with his warm cum. He's breathing heavily into your neck, mouthing at your skin sloppily as your cunt flutters around him. He's babbling on and on asking you if you came and if you feel good, while you're trying not to cry out too loudly from how hard you did. It's only until he unsticks himself from your tacky skin that he sees the aftermath of your orgasm. Your lidded eyes, the rapid rise and fall of your chest, the sound of your shuddered breaths brushing past your lips. He's thinking about it again. No one deserves you, but clearly, he was the closest.
He tosses himself beside you once you both come down. Your blanket is shared between the two of you, it reaches just above your chest and above Satoru's hips.
He sighs as he turns over to face you as you stare up at the ceiling. "You think they heard us?" He asks, voice low and intimate, yet a mischievous smirk that tells you he wouldn't care if they did, plays on his lips.
"Not sure. I guess we'll find out tomorrow." Now it's your turn to sigh. You don't even want to think about how weird breakfast might be in the morning.
"Hey," he calls for your attention. You turn onto your side to face him, keeping the blanket close to your body. "It's gonna be fine. What's the worst that could happen? They tease us or call us dumb?" You give him a soft smile. Normally, you're the one calling him dumb while the others agree. "Don't know about you, but I don't mind. They don't know the story, anyway. Right?"
"Right."
Time slowed down in that moment. You both just stared at each other in silence, thinking about what just happened. You were comfortable together, lying there, satisfied with your decisions. He pulled you closer by your blanket covered waist and pressed kisses into your cheek, enough to make you giggle until you started returning the kisses. To anybody, this would be considered a sight of two lovers taking care of each other after a night of intimacy. The whispered words, the quiet laughter between kisses, the gentle drags of fingers on harsh marksâit all points to love. You think things might be okay, after all.
It took a while for you and Satoru to untangle yourselves from each other. Eventually, he got up and dressed into everything but his messy boxers. You weren't going to get back into your dress so you laid back for a while and watched as he collected himself.
"Well... I'll see you in the morning." His hand is on the doorknob and he's looking at you, shamelessly raking his eyes over your body as if he's trying to memorize you all over again within the short span of his goodnight to you.
"Mhm. Goodnight."
He pulls the door open, still not detaching his gaze from you. "Goodnight," he says, his voice low, yet warm and brimming with love. He spares one more soft smile for you, before walking out and clicking the door shut behind him.
You think you finally understand why he's so hung up on the way you say goodnight.

________________________________________________
âYouâre evil, you know that right ?â You say, raising an eyebrow. Â
âI donât know what youâre talking about, my love.â He answers, a small smile on his lips. You turn to him and...Oh that smug look, that smug look you loved so much. He definitely DEFINITELY knew what he was doing.Â
And that it was utterly...evil.Â
âItâs going to be FUN !âÂ
Ah, and hereâs his little devil. Damian himself. He loved this. Partly because he thought it was funny to mess with everyone, partly because he liked showing that you guys were a family.Â
âThey wonât believe their eyes !â His little voice kept going, followed by a big roar of laughter that sounded, by all means, more childlike than devilish.Â
âThat they wonât, they always seem so surprised when Bruce acts like a human.âÂ
Jason. Still not calling Bruce âdadâ (except sometimes, by âaccidentâ, and even him donât realize he did), heâd only slowly been back at the manor, with all of you. And, for sure, a certain important event which happened about four months ago made it so he came back to live at home.
Dick chuckled and added :Â âWho would blame them ? Weâre talking about a man who eats his burgers with a knife and fork !â He gestured to his father with his left thumb, his other hand shielding part of his mouth as if he was telling them all a secret, as if he was trying to be discreet, so his dad wouldnât hear...Always quite the little clown, that eldest son of yours. With his exaggerated mannerism, and that sparkle in his eyes, in his smile.Â
âIâm certain some of them thought he was genuinely a cyborg for YEARSâ Tim added, quite seriously, his tone the opposite of his older brother (and that was just his way of joking...you think). And honestly ? Yeah, you were pretty sure some of your friends at the JLA thought your husband was a robot, at one point.Â
Oh yes. Thatâs where you were going, to the JLAâs headquarters. To execute Bruceâs plan. Quite the evil plan indeed.Â
âHell, even I thought he was one before I met you guys !â Duke chimed in, and that made Cassandra smile widely, as she shook her head up and down pointing at Duke as if to say :Â âwhat he just saidâ.Â
And in a very Bruce manner, your husband kept a straight face, ignoring his childrenâs teasing. Only you, saw that twinkle in his eyes, that smile that might not reach his mouth, but was definitely dancing in those bright blue eyes.Â
Oh yes. Yes, your friends were in for quite the surprise.Â
************
Meanwhile, in the Justice League headquarters :Â
âOh, hey ! Look, Batmanâs zeta tube is turning on ! We havenât seen him in a while right ?â Â
Indeed they havenât. Because, well, letâs put it this way : Batmanâs wife just had a baby.Â
A baby girl (finally, right ? You and Cass werenât TOO outnumbered anymore).Â
And Batman had been VERY busy doting over his baby girl.Â
Batman had been busy being Bruce Wayne.Â
Just a man, who thought heâd never be happy again, not knowing how to handle all those feelings he had for his wife (for you), for his children.Â
That was happiness then, right ?Â
So, yes. Batman hasnât been much at the JLAâs headquarters lately. But your husband thought, it was finally time to go see his friends a little bit. He knew they were all up there, because it was their monthly reunion (once each month, they gathered to talk about the state of the world, the universe, what threat lingered, what lurked beyond...and to get very drunk, and see their friends, the only ones who knew what it meant to be a âheroâ).Â
And that whatâs made him particularly evil.Â
He knew, they would all be there. He knew what their reaction was going to be. After all, his memory was amazing, he definitely hadnât forgot the way they reacted the first time they saw you, the first time they learned he had children (childrEN, plural !).Â
And he knew they were a little worried about him.Â
He had missed their last three reunions, and only answered : âEverything is okâ to their messages asking if he was alright (they hadnât dared to go see if he was indeed ok, because last time they did that, they found him bed ridden with all the bones in his body broken, and he got so mad at them for butting in his business he worked twice as hard when he was fine again, and didnât talk a WORD for months...that was, of course, years ago, before you were in his life, but the experience was still in their minds and so, they decided to respect his privacy, he would come to them when ready). And he never pushed his âred buttonâ, him, or anyone in the family.Â
They just assumed he was busy, they hoped it wasnât anything bad.Â
Yes. They were worried. For him. For you. For your kids. For Alfred. For your dogs, your cats, your cow...They. Were. Worried.Â
And Bruce knew.Â
You told him, when your pregnancy was confirmed, to tell his friends. That they would be happy. But after his own initial happy thought, his surge of hope and love at knowing he was going to be a dad again, he started to make his plan.Â
Why tell them, when you could toy with them ?Â
âThey deserve it.â He told you, and you werenât sure if they did, but you werenât about to fight him on that. After all, you too, thought it could be amusing. Amusing to hide your pregnancy, making up excuses as to why they couldn't come see you, and you didnât come up the headquarter. Amusing, to even hide it quite expertly from any form of news (Bruce was a MASTER of disguise, not only for himself), so it would be a real surprise.Â
Amusing, to have your little girl in secret, with only your family. Amusing, but also what you wanted. For this good news to be just between you, your children, and Alfred. Your close family. Because you had too few things that just were yours.Â
This had to be yours. Your thing, your secret, your own happiness. Yours, and only yours. And you found it was good, that you guys spend the first few months of your daughterâs life only between yourselves.Â
It was nice, to go out âdisguisedâ as a normal couple, and show your daughter Gotham (and how her little eyes already tried to take the entire world within them).Â
It was nice, to live in total privacy for a little bit.Â
So, yes, you had been a little selfish. And he had, too. You knew it wasnât just to prank his friends, he kept it all a secret. That it was also to have some quality time with his family. To spend the first few months of his daughterâs life being the only one being utterly smitten with her.Â
Though, this last thing wasn't true...You were, too. And your children ? Letâs just say your daughter had not been alone ONCE since she was born. And she seemed to love it.Â
Whenever she made the slightest sound, smiled, laughed (or cried), they were there, Bruce was there, absolutely loving that little baby.Â
She was almost 4 months old now, and Bruce thought that the gist had to be up. What scale did he use to measure this amount of âreadinessâ ? You had no idea. You thought he was just now ready to share his happiness with his friends, and not just his close family.Â
And so here you were, after months of secrecy carefully crafted and orchestrated by your husband, in the JLAâs headquarters, along with your family, the little new addition to said family in your husbandâs arms.Â
Evil. Your husband was downright evil.Â
He knew that what was about to happen would have a massive impact on his friends. He. KNEW.Â
And as the zeta tube brought all your family up there, you knew that as he saw their faces, your husband was a little TOO happy with himself for his little âprankâ.Â
************
âBatman, are you al- IS THAT A BABY ?â Very typical, very in character : the first to react was Flash himself.Â
None of the other noticed, and they seemed inclined to think Barry had lost his mind but then...
Bruceâs face didnât move an inch, he just held that little âpackageâ, and had his same stoic expression except...Except there was a little hand grabbing at his chin.Â
Then another hand appeared out of that bundle Batman carried, with a bat plushie bunched in a tight fist, shaking it and...Cooing.Â
Cute little sounds, and the way- EXCUUUuuUuuuUSE ME ?
The way Batman just softly looked at her, the way his cold expression was replaced by a tender one as he lowered his eyes to her ??
WHAT ?!Â
They knew. They knew he had THE softest spot for his family. They knew his scary aura greatly dimmed when he was around his wife and children. They knew that when they werenât there, he was only made of shadows. They were his light, his salvation.Â
They knew he didnât have the same face expression, when they were around.
Well, when they were looking at him...Barry swore that Batman loomed around his family, standing menacingly behind them, his eyes cold and calculating as if he was ready to fight any seconds to save his loved ones, and then whenever they turned to him his feature would instantly soften. He will ALWAYS remember the first time he met little Dickie, 9 years old and so full of joy and life, and how whenever he would look at Batman and talk to him, said Batman got a softer expression somewhat, but then when Dick turned around, Batman looked about to murder them whenever they came too close from him.Â
Once, Tim, also 9 at the time, years after the JLA met Dick, told Barry matter of factly :Â âHe doesnât kill people. He could break your knee caps thoughâ in a very Tim fashion. The kid was serious. And had noticed the aura surrounding his dad, how it changed when he was around (he noticed more than his siblings, because for a while, Bruce had been really cold and distant with him, since he met him not long after Jasonâs death..understandable. So he was the only one who had this sort of behavior aimed at him, the shield Bruce put in front of him to keep everyone away so he wouldnât be hurt, the shield that now was lowered for them and only them).Â
It was his eyes. His eyes that were always hard and cold, became different when looking at you or his children.Â
Not to say that his family never exasperated him, or that he never had his âmaskâ around them. After all, Bruceâs stoic expression was his face by default. Itâs just that he was often too focused. And that he spend years practicing hiding his emotions, practicing keeping a blank face. Because Barry also remembered seeing Dick perched on his fatherâs shoulders, letting himself dangle in his back, his head upside down, whistling and kicking his feet, and Bruce having this stoic mask on, concentrated.Â
Anyway, they knew all that. It had been years, since Bruce finally trusted them enough to bring his wife here, and his kids. But yet, yet they were still surprised sometimes.
Like today.Â
The picture of Batman holding a baby was...a little weird.Â
Even if he opened up to them over the years, he was still mostly very cold, distant and aloof. You know, Batman. Thatâs just who he was. So sometimes, to see him so devoted to his wife or kids, it was odd to say the least.Â
And right now, as he walked towards them with a baby in his arms, the shock was real. Damn it, will there be a day when the Bat didnât surprise them with something ?Â
How did none of them notice you were pregnant ? Proof again Batman was a master of his craft. And that little girl...
Oh your daughter was such a beaming ray of sunshine, that in his arms it was particularly a jarring image.Â
The big scary bat, tall, broad shouldered, muscular in every way, his face void of expressions, holding a tiny baby who kept smiling at everyone around, and playing with her plushy.Â
Odd.Â
Yet, sweet.Â
Were they surprised ? Yes.Â
Were they a little mad he hid something (AGAIN) this important from them ? Definitely.Â
Were they shocked that his daughter was so darn cute and smiling and laughing that much ? Not really, because you were his mom too.Â
Were they happy for him ? For sure.Â
Were they going to adore that little girl ? Probably as much as they adored his other kids already, which meant...yes. Yes they were going to.Â
Damn that bastard Bruce. Always so sneaky.Â
Hal, couldnât help but think : âFirst, heâs not a vampire, then, heâs married with children, and now, he has that cute baby. This guy ??!!âÂ
***********
The initial shocked passed, and only after your children MOCKED all of your friends (you had to give it to Dick, he knew how to imitate them so well..and when Damian joined in ? Oh, oh it was a fit of laughter impossible to fight that attacked them), did they approach your daughter.Â
âHer name is Martha.â Bruce said âWe named her after my mother.â and it wasnât his usual flat tone he used as Batman. No, it was a soft voice he usually only reserved for his kids. And the reason he was using it now ? Well. He didnât want to scare his daughter, as he still held her.Â
She beamed at him when she heard her name, and babbled some baby nonsense. She then turned towards all those new faces, and you saw Bruceâs hand hold her a little tighter.Â
Your beautiful, sweet soul husband. He clearly was worried sheâd be scared, meeting all those new people. Especially since they all wore mask. But Martha-
Martha let go of her bat plushy (which Damian caught before it touched the floor, rolling on the ground in a way you thought was quite comedic. Oh, that boy), and lifted her arms up towards-Â
âWhat a sweet little girl !â Diana said with a voice you NEVER heard her use. You realized it was her âvoice reserved for babies and domestic animalsâ, and it made you smile. It was higher than her usual voice, and full of softness.Â
You thought your daughter reached for her because she could feel the warmness in your friend. And after all, amongst all of those gathered here today, she was probably the one that adored babies the most.Â
Diana looked at Bruce, who only inclined his head a little to give her the ok to lift her from his arms but-
Another arm stopped her, and took the baby away.Â
Damian.Â
Damian, the one who took his role as a big brother a little too seriously.Â
He held Martha protectively against him, and literally sneered at all your friends.Â
************
Damian deemed most of them unworthy to hold his baby sister, and only Clark ended up being allowed to carry her. And that was partly because Clark was the only one who knew about Martha, the only one who saw her already, and he had months to convince your son to trust him with her.Â
Being an extremely close friend and all, you just couldnât hide this from him and... no, really, you literally couldnât hide this from him as he was the immediately noticed that second heartbeat when he listened in to make sure you and your family were safe. Bruce hated when he did that, but Clark wasnât about to let them be in danger without moving an inch.
Anyway, Clark was allowed to hold her, but he gave her back to you rather quickly because your sonâs stare made him uncomfortable. If eyes could kill, right ?Â
Damian took his job as an older brother very seriously. He would protect her at all cost. And you had no doubt that he would be the kind of person to burn the entire world down if it meant saving his family.Â
Damian only glared at everyone, letting them approach ONLY after they put on a surgical mask so they wouldnât give her their âviruses or whateverâ.Â
You had to admit he was a bit much, and you asked him nicely to calm down a little. He relented on the face masks, but made them all wash their hands (twice).Â
You ruffled his hair affectionately, what a sweet little boy. It broke your heart, how so many people judged him too fast. He really was, a nice kid. With a heart of gold. He just didnât have much luck for the first few years of his life.Â
But he chose to be like this. Chose to love, instead of hate. Chose to protect, instead of attacking.Â
Although, right now, as Diana came back towards his sister, he definitely seems ready to high kick her (which definitely wouldnât have hurt the amazon).Â
************
It was a hassle, to convince Damian to let go of his sister so they could hold her. As per usual, itâs Dick who managed to convince him, saying Martha was all soft and cute, and everyone deserved to hold her at least once. Adding that if one of them dropped her, he would be allowed to do whatever he wanted to them.Â
Some of the mightiest heroes of the planet were gathered hear, but the threat didnât fall on deaf ears. Damian could be a little intense, and scary sometimes.Â
They werenât fooled by Dickâs agreeable smile either. A smile that didnât always reach his eyes. They knew if they messed up, he would find every way to rip them to shreds. Dick was often seen as the calmest of your children, but his anger issues from when he was a child were never far. And he could be ruthless. Â
Diana held her first, and your daughter babbled to her excitedly.Â
Of course, being only 4 months old, she just talked gibberish. And it was so sweet, how Diana answered her :Â âWhat ? *babbles from your daughter* Noooooo. *more babbles from your daughter* I canât believe he said that. And then what ? *babbles babbles babbles*â.Â
After that, Dick took her back, and asked if someone else wanted to hold her, under yours and Bruceâs watchful eyes.Â
Then again, in the room, many were also already parents and knew how to hold a baby. They werenât too worried, except-
Except Dick, that little sh-, had found a new game in recent weeks. Whenever he gave his little sister to someone else...he pretended to drop her.Â
And it made him laugh and laugh and laugh, to give mini-heart attacks to EVERYONE whenever he gave them his baby sister to them, as they always all panicked and screamed seeing her dropped (Dick always had her secure, he only pretended to drop her of course).Â
âOh no careful !â Heâd scream, dropping his arms suddenly (she looooved it) while still gripping her, and theyâd scramble to catch her, and he would just laugh.Â
âYou little-â Halâs colorful words were...imaginative. And Damian was inclined to agree, since his brother pranked him oh, I donât know, only about A HUNDRED TIMES since their little sister was born.Â
You wouldnât admit it, but it made you laugh a little too. Even if he got you a few times as well, pretending he was going to drop her. Then again, you trusted your eldest son. Once you and Bruce wouldnât be around anymore, you knew he would hold this family together.Â
************
Martha was a calm baby. She let people hold her, curious enough to not fuss and watch them all intently. It made Barry uncomfortable, how she held his gaze and would just stare at him.Â
She would stare, and stare, and stare, and her bright blue eyes were EXACTLY like Bruceâs, it felt like being stared down by a miniature version of Batman.Â
He didnât like it. So he gave her back to whomever was closest, which happened to be Jason
Jason, who was always very delicate with his little sister. He handled her as if heâd break her. It broke your heart, to know he probably literally thought that.Â
He refused to hold her at first, sure he would hurt her. But she kept reaching for him, crying when he wouldnât take her, and she was so adorable and-
He caved, of course. After a little while. And he was oh, the fixture of a patient older brother. You knew he would ALWAYS be part of her life, and step in whenever she needed to.Â
Right now, she was grabbing his hair, which were getting quite long, and pulling hard on them as babies do and- He didnât say anything. He just let her do it.Â
You really hoped she wasnât going to take advantage of this when sheâd get older, even if you already had visions of her having her brothers and father wrapped around her little finger, having her sister too, and...apparently, the entirety of the JLA.Â
************
âHow can such an a-hole make such a cute baby ?â Hal said, looking at the little girl he held. She was sort of dozing off, which for sure was adorable.Â
Bruce only glared at him, which amused Hal greatly. He just gave him the shock of his life, he could laugh at his expense a little, right ?Â
âI believe, to make a baby, you need to-â
âUm, no, Jon, please, I know how to ! Itâs just-Oh, forget it.âÂ
Flustered, Hal Jordan was flustered. Jon Jâonzz didnât seem to get why, but then again, human sarcasms and irony were still very foreign to him. He always answered pragmatically to people.Â
Talking about pragmatism. Hal handed back your daughter to Tim, who slipped her in his favorite new contraption : the baby carrier 3.0 (of his own design). Made so he could do all sort of work while having her strapped to him. Keeping an eye on her at all time.Â
Tim adopted the use of a baby carrier, so he could still work while taking care of her (he stole the idea from his dad, who definitely hung around with his daughter EVERYWHERE with that thing...which was the most adorable thing youâve ever seen, this tall broad man and this tiny baby attached to his chest).Â
It was so cute to see her little feet dangling while he was working. Damian nearly lost it when he found Tim WELDING two pieces of metal together with the baby carrier on his front. Tim merely said :Â âI made her baby sized goggles and a fireproof pyjama, sheâs fine, and she likes itâ and indeed, your daughter didnât have a scratch, and cried when Damian hauled her away from the sparks. Ooooh the smug look on Timâs face as his brother gave her back reluctantly. Damianâs was utterly vexed.Â
Vexation he forgot just a few minutes later, when Martha decided she had enough of sparkles and made little sounds of protest (not quite cries), and reached her little arms to him.Â
As of now, Tim had her in this baby carrier again, and was strolling around the JLA headquarters, showing his new little sister to everyone.Â
************
Cassandra didnât say a word, as per usual. She never liked big crowds, only spoke to those she trusted the most. Her brothers, her parents.Â
She only gestured to others. Remained quiet. But she monitored every little movements.Â
Hawkgirl approached her sister ? Noted. Carefully studying every move. Martian Manhunter asked if he could hold her ? Noted.Â
Superman made little babbling sound at her, while her dad held her ? Noted, with amusement. It was funny, to see one of Earthâs mightiest hero grimacing to a baby to make it laugh, while said baby was held by another mighty hero who was utterly stoned face. Cassâ smiled at her dad, who smiled back for a fraction of seconds before Clark shifted his head up to look at him too, and Bruce went back to his :Â â -_-â face, by reflex really.Â
Cassandra never spoke much, but she loved a lot. And her way of loving her little sister ? It was to always keep a watchful eye on her, so she could react to whatever she needed. And give her space when she needed to.Â
She had many brothers, she often joked that if she lost one, she could just replace him (a joke you didnât like much, because you knew it was just a self-defense from her, to shield her heartbreak at the mere idea of loosing a sibling), but only had one sister...
Yes. Your youngest child definitely held a special place in everyoneâs heart.Â
And you could see her slowly creep in every membersâ of the Justice Leagueâs heart too.Â
Gods, you couldnât even imagine what would happen to the person who would one day try to hurt her. You could bet, though, he wouldnât get out of it unscathed (to say the least).Â
************
Martha was particularly fond of Dukeâs inuit kiss. He had the capacity to instantly calm her, and he could easily feel her inner emotions.Â
As she was passed around everyone, and she started to be tired and cranky, he simply retrieved her and brought her to Bruce, because he knew that was her preferred spot to fall asleep.Â
He kissed her on the forehead, and sure enough, she was asleep before he could pull away. Your husband put a warm hand on Dukeâs head, a warm smile on his face. That boy could always tell what others felt. It was a gift, really, and sometimes a curse as othersâ feelings could leak into him. Which is to say that sometimes, when others were sad, he would be too...
But for now, he felt content. At peace. Because his dad was, too.Â
And indeed, Bruce, holding his sleeping daughter against his heart, his hand supporting her head gently, was utterly at peace.Â
He loved the idea that his arms were his daughterâs favorite place to sleep, and never refused to hold her to help her sleep. You sure were a little jealous, but he told you :Â âThey all always come to you when they need comfort, one kid out of six, you surely can give me, right ?â and though you knew he was joking, it broke your heart a little.Â
So, you let go of your jealousy, and let him have this indeed. Martha was definitely a daddyâs girl. And that was good. You could see the impact on your husband, how having a baby in the house soothed him.Â
He loved his kids so damn much. He often said they were his lights. And the fact Martha found comfort with him ?Â
It reminded him of his own parents. How he would go to his mom, a Martha too, to find the same comfort. To fall asleep in the same way.Â
You let go of that small jealousy, as you saw her falling soundly asleep, cuddled up against her dad. And it was funny, how Bruce would take his usual Batman persona, stone faced, standing straight and-Â
Having one of two fingers held tightly by both of his daughterâs little hands. She grabbed them as he took her, one hand holding her (she was so tiny...and he was a big dude), the other, she used as a sort of comfort plushy. She held them with all her might, as she slept.Â
And Bruce was speaking battle plans, and you had to fight the laughter in you as all your friends couldnât help but stare at the scene, not knowing how to feel.Â
Hal snickered at one point, and he made a gesture for him to zip it, and it was quite an odd scene, as he held his daughter and did that childish gesture.Â
Seriously. That guy !!Â
************
Batman smiling was...different.Â
They all got caught staring at him, when he had his daughter in his arms. Staring because his broad smile was-
Well. Broad.Â
It wasnât his signature smirk. It wasnât a soft smile. It wasnât a half-smile. It wasnât a smile that you could only see in his eyes.Â
It was a full on big ass smile (as Barry would say).Â
And sure, they already saw him smile like that (although he schooled his face back to âstone modeâ when he noticed them looking), never that much.Â
As if the birth of his daughter gave Batman another new light, and it was just impossible to yield to his old demon, to brood, when holding that ray of sunshine.Â
It made them all feel...soft. And warm.Â
It was nice, to know the bat wasnât just a machine. They forgot it sometimes, that he was, in the end, âjustâ a man. They forgot why he became Batman. The pain and guilt he held inside. But moments like this, they were reminded of it.Â
That the Batman didnât exist because of hatred, but because of love.Â
Because he loved his parents, his city, and now-Â
His family.Â
It was nice, to get reminded that there was a man below the mask. And though he could be an âa-holeâ sometimes, there, holding his baby, he was just that.Â
A loving man, who wanted to protect others.Â
************
You made a note of every moments you would cherish forever of you introducing your daughters to them all :Â
1. The shock on their faces as they beheld the sight of THE BATMAN holding a baby against him, and being so delicate.Â
2. Your daughter being the star of the show, all of them smitten with her !
3. Your friends wanting to hold her, and how they beamed at her (and she beamed back, except with Barry, whom she only stared at for some reasons).Â
4. Dickâs âgameâ of pretending he dropped her, and their panicked reaction.Â
5. The success of Timâs baby carrier, and how now, there was always one up in the tower.Â
6. Diana and how it definitely seemed like she would move mountain for that child.Â
7. How Clarkâs eyes filled with tears again, as he looked at Martha. Because it made his friends so happy. You and Bruce. And especially Bruce. And Clark was an emotional man, who suffered too, and was just so happy âThe Batmanâ was happy.Â
8. How Jason seemed at peace with his little sister, and how whenever he held her, he seemed less weary than usual around everyone. Like Cass, he didnât like much being amongst too many people. But now, it felt like he had an âemotional support babyâ. Ah.Â
9. Their reactions, past the shock, welcoming that new life in the world.Â
10. How Bruce monitored his daughter being held by his friends, holding your hand. Even after all those years, when he acted close to you in his Batman costume, it made you...feel things. He always kept a facade as Batman. A facade that would crumble with his kids, and especially with you. PDA werenât rare. And even after years at his side, it always made your heart beat wildly when he showed affection towards you in public, because it meant-Â
Oh it meant so much.Â
And you had so many more moments forever ingrained in your heart from that day spend up at the JLAâs headquarters.Â
Too many to count. Some sweet, some hilarious-Â
All positive feelings.Â
And as you and your family stepped back in the zeta tubes, your friends saying âbyyyyyeâ to Martha especially, with their baby voice (making Bruce roll his eyes), and as she waved at them-Â
Waved for the FIRST TIME ever oh.Â
Oh it felt like you would die of happiness.Â
And still, Bruceâs hands held yours tightly.Â
He knew.Â
He knew, you were the source of this happiness he thought he could never find again.Â
He knew.Â
He never loved like that before.Â
Yes. It felt like you could just die of happiness.

And here we are. I hope you enjoyed this. Donât hesitate to comment and/or reblog, itâs always greatly appreciated :).Â
Also, initially, the child was going to be Thomas (their son in my âmainâ storyline, if you already read a few works from me), but last minute, I was like : âwait no, I want to give Bruce a daughter, and the boys a sister. Also, poor Cass eh ?â and here we are. I really hope you liked this; Iâm nervous for some reasons. Anyway. See you soon with another one ?Â
