imo european kpop fans (or non-asia located kpop fans in general) need to get better at organizing. the reason kpop companies feel that they have the audacity to fuck us over time and time again is because we never move as a united front. it's not just concert pricing and touring dates, it's also cultural appropriation and racism scandals, homophobia, anti-semitism, fatphobia etc etc. western kpop fans rarely actually pull through when they criticize idols/companies on their behavior. boycotts don't last, threats are empty. of course companies don't give a fuck because their bottom line is never in jeopardy
i do, well. partly agree with this. there is an absolute difference in how kpop companies handle any non-american fans and if you think there isn’t, then. the entire argument already falls apart. especially in the past two to three years, there has been a definite shift in the way kpop companies have promoted in the west and that is the very distinct, obvious focus on the north-american market. hybe, for example, had an entire strategy that entirely focused on north-american promo and that was the sole goal for hybe after they established hybe america. (why do i know this? because my best friend worked at the american branch of hybe for over a year)
and it is evident. you saw the first bits and pieces of this shift when superm had their debut on an american tv show, when they sent bts to the billboard awards, and everything that has happened after. nct 127 has had an entire american tour last/this year and absolutely no dates for all other non-asian countries. seventeen has excluded anything that is neither america nor asia on their recent “world” tour. the truth is, that european fans get a few tours by smaller artists and groups, and other than that we only get well known performers in festivals. that wasn’t the case before covid; seventeen’s an ode tour was supposed to have european tour dates (that got cancelled), pentagon toured europe in tiny venues, it goes on and on. just saying.
so to speak of all western kpop fans like that is wrong, imo, because there is definitely a difference in how american stans are treated by these companies. they get WAY more. tour dates, extra album versions, events, all sorts of benefits, you name it.
other than that, kpop stans never had much of a backbone, so i agree with you. but that doesn’t change the fact that these companies treat america very differently compared to europe. (the treatment of non-european and non-american fans/places is a other whole can of worms that i will not get into now). but even so, look at international exols. they are treating exo way better than kexols, are actually a pretty united front, and yet we get nothing. all to say that this is a discussion with a lot of layers; i hear you and i partly agree with you but i think it is not simply down to the fact that they can fuck us over easily. i think there is also something to be said about making the demand known (and it should be known, look at how ateez sold out their european tour. same goes for blackpink. but these all had somewhat better organization, and yet european atinys were completely fucked over compared to ustinys).

Chilchuck's scream sounds HAUNTED in brazilian portuguese. Give it a try if you can.
(You can hear it here)

In spanish dub, Senshi says: "tocó mis senos de hombre", which means "he touched my man boobs" in Spanish. And I think that's the best dub line one so far.

EVERY SINGLE DAY there are MILLIONS of characters in their late 20s who get falsely accused of being father figures to teenagers when in reality the description of "weird older cousin" or "step-sibling that moved out before you were born" is 1000000x more apt

Sorry to be that person, but "girl math" doesn't mean "girls are bad at math". It's a way of saying "how many women use math irl"
Like "If I get hit with armor, it doesn't count because my health remains the same"
Or "I returned $30 and spent $5, that's a net positive, so I basically got this for free"
Not that girls literally don't understand math and don't get that things cost money. It's a simplification of thought processes and analysis, actually implying high-level thinking, not "girls are so bad at math we don't even try"
I know, it's not that serious, but taken out of context it sounds worse than it is.
ohhhhhhhh my god you cannot make“teehee girls just use a different kind of math around shopping to justify buying more stuff cause they’re girls using girl math” into a feminist statement it IS an actual problem to ascribe not only gender (woman) but childishness (girl) to poor financial literacy and say that the kind of math girls do is actually exclusively related to the domestic sphere when we talk about shopping or buying food or presents or little treats. Do you fucking hear yourself

about the friend/therapist thing... i get what you mean. i always take on that role because im not really one to open up first and once the other person is clearly in need of help, i can never get myself to open up in return because i know theyre not in the right state of mind to reciprocate the same mental health support role i have for them. especially with a friend of mine, they would get very self-centered about stuff and i ended up being their therapist for free. i can never seem to escape it and what you said really resonated with me. i wish for you to be more empathetic with yourself too and sometimes... well sometimes other's people's problems are really not their friends' deal to figure out.
i hope not to sound too insensitive with this, but sometimes it's ok to be a tad bit selfish for a second and put yourself first, because sometimes other people really dont understand the effort it takes to love them
hi!! thank you so much for your message, it really resonated with me! i do believe that hundreds of other people have this problem as well—partly why i ever even share things on here, because if i wouldn’t, i think i’d frankly just go insane in my brain—and it just. it does make me wonder. how the fuck are people out there that are so… shallow? unable to reflect on their own character? self-absorbed? i don’t know, that it’s impossible for them to offer any empathy. i just find it so mind boggling. and i’m not saying that everyone should take on these sort of therapist positions, because it is simply an unhealthy dynamic to be in the longer it lasts. i just wish things would be more equal. i love hearing my friends out. i love helping them and caring for them, i love listening to what they’re going through because that is just what relationships are about for me, but all of that extends to a certain point.
and the more hysterical thing about all of this is that the one time i was selfish and advocated for myself, my friend subsequently ghosted me for five months while i was going through the worst depression of my life. and all i did was tell her that i wish she’d be here for me too, care for me as well. and she decided, boom! she doesn’t want to do that! after she promised me she would. lol.

I like how dropout shows often have an almost “filmed in front of a live studio audience” effect from simply having the crew obviously losing their minds off camera

my top bit of advice going into the new year: compliment people. especially strangers. literally everyone you interact with if you can. when you buy coffee in the morning compliment the barista's tattoos. when you're chatting with a coworker tell them that by the way you like their outfit. always find something they've chosen to do on purpose. nail polish, jewellery, tattoos, hair colour/style, statement accessory, outfit, etc are all good bets. things people hope will be noticed. things that aren't too personal so it doesn't make them uncomfortable (eg probably not their physical features). i've gotten into the habit of scanning everyone i talk to for something about them that i think is cool so i can tell them. it's a great habit because it makes me notice people and realise just how many neat little details there are in people's presentation of themselves that might pass me by if i wasn't paying attention. and it brings out so much joy. you'd be surprised how much it disarms people to receive an unexpected compliment from someone they don't know. it is the most sincere smile you will see all day long. it feels nice to make people happy but it also means you win the social interaction. establish dominance by complimenting a stranger's earrings and disappearing into the fog
