Man i fucking Wish i was Poly like I fucking Wish
I consider it, everytime i find someone on an App that I really like, and they inevitably turn out Poly, I consider it
I really turn the idea over in my head, consider the factors and if I think I could even just give it a Shot, and sometimes i get ooo so close to convincing myself i could do it
But it's just not my scene, i'm just not built for it. Or at least i'm not built for the kind of polyamory that most people are engaged in when I encounter them in Apps
And it just makes me want to keel over

Home For Christmas
Tumblr media
Terry Richmond x BLACK!FEM!reader
WARNINGS: none, lil bit of angst if you squint, fluff, short.
SUMMARY: Your husband, Terry, promises to be home to you and your daughters for Christmas, but will he really?
✮✮✮✮
The snow outside lit up the yard in the moonlight, frost nipping at the windowsill the more the weather dropped. There wasn’t a soul outside, not even the little black cat you saw wandering around late at night. Even she couldn’t be bothered with the harsh cold.
The house was warm and so was the hot chocolate you cuddled in your hand, but nothing could warm you the way you needed to be warmed. Nothing could make you feel the Christmas spirit you wanted to feel.
You missed your husband like crazy and your kids did too. They could feel the sadness radiating off of your body and it didn’t make it better for them, but you couldn’t help it. Terry had been stuck in another state for work, promising that he’d be back on time for Christmas, yet, he hadn’t shown and it was 5 hours to 12.
The roads had closed and from what you heard, till further notice. Flights were being canceled left and right, hell, you were nearly snowed into the house, only a small walk way you shoveled earlier prevailing, but even that was starting to freeze over a bit.
“Mama” Your 7 year old daughter, Tiana, called for you, looking up from her laying position in your lap.
You gave her your attention, a soft smile spreading on your face. She looked just like you when she was upset. You felt bad that she was sad too, but it was the cutest face she made that made you smile.
“I thought daddy said he’d be here by nowww” She whines, her baby sister, Jasmine, almost immediately getting annoyed as this was her fifth time mentioning what she thought was the obvious.
“Ana, you have to wait! Mommy told you already” Her little finger pointed at sister with agitation on her face that made you wanna laugh, but that’d just get you scolded by ‘little miss thinks she’s mommy’ too and you didn’t think you had the energy to correct it tonight.
She had so much attitude before she even turned 4, all of it inherited right from Terry when it came to people she cared for the most, a trait of loyalty you were sure Terry also took part in.
Before they could even get to arguing, you set your mug down on the windowsill and gathered them both up next to you, their matching onesies getting all bunched up from mixing in one spot for so long.
“Aht, cut it out you two. Daddy means well when he tells us things, but…maybe he just got the times wrong. If he isn’t back by tomorrow, then we’ll just have to forgive him, okay?”
Your youngest’s eyes quickly fill with tears that pull at your heart strings, her lip poking up with a quiver only Terry could settle at the moment. “So he’s not coming back tonight?”
You sigh. A few more hours of this and you were sure to cry with her.
“How about we wish really hard and go to bed, then see what happens?” Your children were quick to try and disagree while attempting to flee, but you swooped them up into your arms anyway and cuddled them close, giving them their nightly kisses.
Your back may be aching tomorrow from sharing a couch with two children, but they convinced you earlier to be around here to ‘catch santa’ and you couldn’t help but give in with the possibility of Terry not being here and upsetting them further.
Hours ticked by and you counted almost all of them, going in and out of sleep until you were knocked out of your cycle by the sound of boots against hardwood. Your eyes cracked open, seemingly at the same time as the mini-me’s laying on top of you, that followed by a gasp from both of the girls.
You and the kids almost leap from your seats, the sun outside the floor to ceiling windows in the living room making an attempt to blind all three of you, but all of you were on a mission that couldn’t be ruined by sleep still being in your eyes.
“DADDY!!!” The screams of joy were so loud from the kids that you would have thought they were awake all along, not a speck of grogginess in their voice.
Terry toppled over with both of them jumping for his legs, but he still managed to hold them properly, giving them both kisses on their chubby cheeks that they happily accepted. You had no idea how he pulled something like this off, not to mention bringing the rest of their presents from ‘santa’ in without disturbing anyone’s sleep.
“Really?” You ask in disbelief, Terry giving you a shrug before sitting up, sending the two off to pick a present out to open.
You were still curious, a shrug not being enough for you. “How?” You squint, helping him up from the floor.
“Christmas magic, baby. I always find a way”
He smiles and kisses your lips, then leads you to the tree. Again, the explanation wasn’t enough.
“Oh, please! Don’t gimme that, I’m not five, Terry” You complain, pulling his hand off of yours to demand a direct answer.
Terry sighs and looks at you with his arms now crossed, still happy despite being pressed before you even moved to give him a kiss first. “If I told you, you’d call me a liar”
“Well…” You wait, tapping your foot to add on effect.
There was a hint of childishness in his smile, you already knowing this wouldn’t be the answer you wanted either. “Santa brought me”
“….Nigg-”
Before you could even call out bullshit, You were quickly shut up by the presence of your kids, the both of them gasping in awe at what they just overheard being revealed to you.
“You know what…fine” You throw your hands up in defeat and chop it up to what he said, Christmas magic.
✮✮✮✮
As the children settled down and played with their toys, you became stuck to your husbands side like you were glued there, your arms wrapped around him. You admired him while he admired the kids, your tummy fluttering with butterflies similar to when you two first met.
“I really hope you know…” You started, bringing his attention to you.
“Hm?”
“That I love you and your determination to always come through for us, especially your kids, makes me love you even more”
He smiles brightly, his heart skipping beats. “I’m supposed to. Not that I don’t want to also, but I hate to see yall upset. Plus, I couldn’t miss their faces opening their new ballet shoes”
You smile back at him and stand on your tip toes for a kiss, savoring the warmth of his embrace.
“Oh, and I was gonna let them jump you if you were late. They told me not to tell you” You say after pulling from your fifth kiss that day.
“Wooow, straight out the gate? No warning?”
“Mhm! nothing but elbows as soon as you walked through that door”
Terry shook his head with a laugh, already plotting on catching the two off guard with a little roughhousing session.
“It be your own kids”
Yup. May have told them to get a little lick in for me too”
You shrug, letting him go and walking off into the kitchen, knowing he’d follow like a stray.
“Damn, mama too? What’d I do to her?”
Wrapping his arms around you while still in motion, he mimics your footsteps all the way to the counter.
“Leave me with two hard heads for a week. I got something for you later though”
He smiles against your neck then playfully bites at you, your chin tucking in to protect yourself.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, Mrs.Richmond”
✮✮✮✮
💌- Merry Christmas! i hope yall enjoyed yalls holiday. Here’s something short and sweet cause i love a good family fic lmao. <3

୨୧┇pairing: Telemachus x reader
୨୧┇FINAL CHAPTER, IM FINALLY FREE
────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ───
Few months later
Y/N paced back and forth in their chamber, her hands clenched into fists at her sides as she muttered angrily under her breath. Telemachus sat nearby, nervously watching her with wide eyes, unsure of what would set her off next. The floor was already littered with discarded pillows, a smashed clay vase, and the remains of what had once been a perfectly good loaf of bread.
“I hate this!” She suddenly yelled, her voice cracking with emotion. “I hate how I feel, I hate how I can’t even bend down to tie my sandals, and I really hate that you think sitting there looking like a confused goat is helping!”
Telemachus flinched. “Y/n, love, let’s just take a deep breath, alright? You don’t mean that.”
“Oh, don’t mean that?” she snapped, spinning to glare at him. “You’ve been sitting there, doing nothing, while I’m waddling around here like a bloated whale!”
“That’s not true! I offered to help!” Telemachus protested.
“You offered to ‘get the servant to clean this up!’ That’s not helping!” She shot back, her eyes narrowing. She grabbed a cushion off the couch and hurled it at him.
Telemachus ducked just in time, the cushion hitting the wall behind him with a dull thud. “Alright, alright!” he said, holding his hands up defensively. “I’ll clean it up myself! Just—stop throwing things, please!”
She huffed, her hands now trembling as her anger turned to tears. “I feel awful, Telemachus,” she said, her voice cracking as she sank onto the bed. “Everything hurts, and I can’t stop crying. And the baby—”
Telemachus immediately crossed the room to sit beside her, his earlier fear melting into concern. “The baby is fine,” he said softly, reaching out to take her hand. “And you’re doing amazing, truly.”
But she pulled her hand away and glared at him through her tears. “Don’t you dare patronize me, Telemachus. I know I’m being impossible right now!”
“Impossible? No!” Telemachus hesitated, trying to find the right words. “You’re just… passionate?”
She stared at him for a moment, her lips twitching. Then she grabbed another pillow and threw it directly at his face. “Passionate! Is that what we’re calling it now?”
Telemachus caught the pillow, sighing deeply. “Okay, maybe not my best choice of words. But, y/n, you know I love you, right? Even when you’re throwing pillows—or vases—or bread.”
She sniffled, her anger slowly giving way to exhaustion. “You’re such an idiot sometimes,” she muttered, wiping her eyes.
“I’ll take that as a compliment,” he said with a small smile, inching closer to her.
For a moment, there was silence between them. Then she leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder. “I’m sorry,” she mumbled. “I don’t mean to yell. It’s just… I’m scared, Telemachus. What if I’m not good at this? What if—”
“Y/n,” he interrupted gently, wrapping an arm around her. “You’re going to be amazing. And I’ll be here every step of the way, no matter how many pillows you throw at me.”
She let out a small laugh, though it sounded more like a hiccup. “You’d better be.”
“I will be,” Telemachus promised, pressing a kiss to her temple. “Now, what can I do to help? And please don’t say ‘stand still so I can throw something else.’”
She sighed, a hint of a smile finally appearing on her face. “Just stay here. I don’t need anything else. For now.” Telemachus relaxed slightly, though he made a mental note to hide anything breakable in the room, just in case.
——
The damp, dimly lit air of the dungeon greeted y/n as she descended the worn stone stairs, a small lantern in hand. Her swollen belly made the descent slower than usual, and she paused occasionally to steady herself, her free hand brushing the cold, mossy wall. As she reached the bottom, she spotted Antinous sitting on the floor of his cell, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, looking as irritable as ever.
“Back again, are we?” he drawled, his sharp eyes narrowing as he caught sight of her. “You must really miss my charming company, sister.”
She sighed, adjusting her shawl over her shoulders as she stepped closer to the iron bars. “I don’t miss your “charm”, Antinous. But I do miss you.”
He raised an eyebrow, his expression softening just a fraction before his usual sarcasm returned. “How touching. What brings you down here this time? Come to gloat about how your little prince of Ithaca knocked you up like a brooding mare?”
“Stop it,” she snapped, her voice firm. “I thought… I’d update you on what’s been going on.”
Antinous tilted his head, clearly intrigued but too proud to show it outright. “A ‘life update,’ you mean? How quaint. Fine, amuse me.”
She settled herself onto a stool just outside the bars, her hands instinctively resting on her belly. “First of all,” she began, “Acrisios and Lethea got married a few weeks ago.”
Antinous blinked, then let out a dry laugh. “A sailor’s son and a proper, chick like her? What a match. I give it three months before she realizes she’s made a terrible mistake.“
“Don’t be jealous,” she said with a small smile. “They’re happy. Lethea seems to have softened a little, and Acrisios… well, he’s trying his best to be the husband she deserves. It’s sweet.”
“Sweet,” Antinous repeated mockingly. “You’re getting soft, baby sister.”
She rolled her eyes. “Speaking of soft, I think Telemachus is about ready to burst with excitement—and nerves—about becoming a father.”
Antinous glared at her, his jaw clenched so tightly she thought he might snap his teeth. “And what about when that child grows up? What will you tell them? That their uncle rotted in a cell because their father stole everything from him?”
Her heart sank, but she didn’t waver. “I’ll tell them the truth,” she said softly. “That their uncle made mistakes, but that he was still my brother, and I never stopped caring about him. I’ll come visit again soon, Antinous. I just… thought you should know.”
As she turned to leave, he called out to her, his voice softer this time. “Y/n.”She paused, glancing back at him. “Be careful,” he said gruffly, his gaze flickering to her stomach. “For the child’s sake.”
A small smile touched her lips. “I will. Goodbye, brother.” As she ascended the stairs, she couldn’t help but feel the weight of his words—and the fragile, strained bond that still lingered between them.
—— few months later
The halls of the palace were tense with anticipation. Servants bustled back and forth, whispering anxiously to one another as the cries of labor echoed through the corridors. Telemachus paced outside the chamber where y/n was giving birth, his hands in his hair, his face pale with worry. Acrisios leaned casually against the wall nearby, trying to mask his own nervousness with a smirk. “You’re going to wear a hole in the floor if you keep pacing like that,” Acrisios teased, though his voice lacked its usual bite. “You should be in there with her.”
Telemachus shot him a glare, his anxiety evident. “I wanted to be in there, but she threw a vase at me and told me to get out!”
Acrisios snorted. “Smart woman.”
“This isn’t funny!” Telemachus snapped, resuming his pacing. “What if something happens to her? What if something happens to the baby? What if—”
“Relax, prince,” Acrisios interrupted, raising a hand. “She’s tougher than she looks. She’ll be fine. And so will the baby.” Telemachus muttered something under his breath and kept pacing, his mind racing with every possible worst case scenario. Acrisios sighed and rolled his eyes, deciding to stay quiet for once.
Inside the chamber, she gritted her teeth, sweat dripping down her forehead as she clung to Lethea’s hand. Lethea, serving as both midwife and moral support, kept her calm composure despite the forceful grip threatening to crush her fingers. “You’re doing so well,” Lethea said soothingly. “Just a little more. The baby’s almost here.”
She groaned, her head falling back against the pillow. “This is Telemachus’s fault,” she muttered, her voice strained. “When I’m done, I’m going to kill him.” The midwives chuckled softly, exchanging knowing glances. “Many mothers say that,” one of them said gently. “But trust me, when you hold your child, you’ll forget all the pain.”
She shot her a skeptical look but didn’t have the strength to argue. She bore down one final time, her cries filling the room, and then, suddenly, there was a new sound—a piercing, healthy wail. The midwife lifted the baby, swaddling him quickly before placing him in her trembling arms. “It’s a boy,” she announced with a warm smile. “A strong, beautiful boy.”
She stared down at the tiny, red faced infant in her arms, her exhaustion melting into awe. His cries quieted as he nestled against her chest, his tiny fists waving in the air. “Adonis,” she whispered, a tear slipping down her cheek. “His name is Adonis.”
Lethea smiled, brushing back her damp hair. “A fitting name for such a handsome little boy.”
Outside the chamber, the door creaked open, and the midwife stepped out, beaming. “You may come in now,” she said to Telemachus. He froze for a moment, his breath catching. Then, without waiting, he rushed inside, nearly tripping over himself. Acrisios followed at a more measured pace, though his curiosity was clear.
When Telemachus saw her holding their son, his heart seemed to stop. He approached slowly, his eyes wide with wonder. “Y/n,” he breathed, kneeling beside her. “You did it.”
She looked up at him, her exhaustion softened by a small, proud smile. “Yea, I did”she sighed out, gently lifting the baby so Telemachus could see him.
Telemachus stared at his son, his throat tight with emotion. He reached out, his hand trembling as he brushed a finger against Adonis’s tiny cheek. “He’s… perfect,” he whispered.
“Of course he is,” she said, her voice teasing despite her exhaustion. “He’s my son, after all.”
Telemachus laughed softly, his eyes still locked on the baby. “Thank you,” he murmured, looking up at her. “For everything.”
Acrisios, standing awkwardly in the background, cleared his throat. “Well, I guess congratulations are in order,” he said. “Though I hope the kid takes after her and not you, Telemachus. The world doesn’t need another slob of a prince.”
She laughed weakly, while Telemachus shot Acrisios a half-hearted glare. “You’re just jealous because you’re not the one holding the future king of Ithaca.”
Acrisios smirked. “Jealous? Hardly. I’m relieved I don’t have to deal with midnight crying fits and diaper changes.”
Lethea, who had stayed by her side, rolled her eyes at Acrisios. “You say that now, but just wait until it’s your turn.”
Acrisios’s smirk faltered, and he muttered something under his breath, earning a laugh from Lethea. For now, though, the focus was on y/n and her new family. As Telemachus cradled Adonis in his arms for the first time, he felt a sense of purpose and love stronger than anything he’d ever known.
She watched them, her heart full despite her exhaustion. This was her family—messy, chaotic, and perfect in its own way. And she wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. Penelope and Odysseus were striding down the hall to the chamber where her and Telemachus were. Odysseus walked with his usual commanding air, but there was a spark of curiosity—and perhaps even excitement—hidden beneath his gruff exterior. Penelope, on the other hand, looked radiant, her expression soft with anticipation.
When they entered, they found Telemachus sitting on the edge of the bed, carefully cradling his newborn son. She leaned back against the pillows, her exhaustion clear but overshadowed by the pride and tenderness in her eyes. Acrisios stood near the window, trying to act nonchalant, while Lethea sat nearby with a warm smile, offering quiet congratulations.
Penelope’s face lit up when she saw the baby. “Oh, my sweet boy,” she murmured, rushing to Telemachus’s side. “Let me see him.” Telemachus carefully handed Adonis to her, his movements hesitant as if he were afraid the baby might break. Penelope cradled her grandson with practiced ease, her eyes misting over. “He’s beautiful,” she whispered. “Just like his father when he was born.” She glanced at y/n with a smile. “And just as stubborn as his mother, I imagine.”
She managed a weak laugh. “He’ll be a handful. I can already tell.”
Odysseus, meanwhile, stood back with his arms crossed, his sharp eyes assessing the scene. Slowly, he stepped forward, his gaze landing on Adonis. “So,” he said, his voice gruff but quieter than usual. “This is my grandson.”
Penelope turned to him with a gentle smile. “Would you like to hold him, Odysseus?”
Odysseus hesitated, his stern exterior faltering for a moment. Then he gave a small nod. “I suppose I should.”
Penelope carefully handed Adonis to him, and Odysseus took the baby with surprising gentleness. He looked down at the tiny, swaddled figure in his arms, his expression unreadable at first. But as Adonis stirred, letting out a soft coo, a faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “He’s strong,” Odysseus said gruffly. “He’ll make a fine king someday.”
Y/n arched an eyebrow, her teasing tone cutting through her fatigue. “Oh, he’s barely a day old, and you’re already planning his future?” Odysseus shot her a look but didn’t respond, his attention drawn back to the baby. Telemachus, watching his father closely, couldn’t help but feel a flicker of pride at the unspoken approval in Odysseus’s expression.
Penelope placed a hand on y/n’s arm, her smile warm and maternal. “You’ve done so well, y/n. I know it wasn’t easy, but you’ve given us a gift we’ll treasure forever.”
Her eyes softened. “Thank you, Penelope. That means a lot.”
Acrisios, who had been keeping his distance, finally spoke up. “Well, now that all the sentimental stuff is out of the way, I think we should toast to the new heir. Where’s the wine?”
Lethea shot him a disapproving look. “Acrisios, this is hardly the time for that.”
“Oh, come on,” Acrisios said with a grin. “This is a celebration, isn’t it?”
Lethea glared at Acrisios, her voice cutting through the room like a blade. “You’ll do no such thing. This is a sacred moment, not one for drunken antics.”
Acrisios raised his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, alright. No wine. Got it.”
She chuckled softly, shaking her head. Even in moments like this, Acrisios managed to lighten the mood in his own ridiculous way.
As the family settled into the quiet joy of the moment, Penelope leaned over to Telemachus and whispered, “You’ve made us very proud, my son.”
Telemachus smiled, his heart full. “Thank you, Mother. That means everything to me.”
Odysseus, still holding Adonis, finally handed him back to his mother. His voice was quieter now, almost reverent. “Take care of him. Both of you. He’ll carry the legacy of this house, and that’s no small thing.”
She nodded, her expression serious but filled with determination. “We will. I promise.”
Odysseus gave a curt nod, his approval clear despite his gruff demeanor. Then he turned and left the room, leaving Penelope to linger a little longer, cooing over her grandson before following her husband. As the door closed behind them, she leaned her head back against the pillow with a sigh. “Well, that went better than expected.”
Telemachus chuckled, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and kissing her temple. “They’ll adore him,” he said confidently. “How could they not?”
Acrisios, standing by the door with Lethea, smirked. “Well, one thing’s for sure—Adonis is going to grow up with quite the chaotic family.”
Lethea smiled softly, resting her head against Acrisios’s shoulder. “Chaos or not, he’s lucky to have so much love around him.”
——
Y/n cradled baby Adonis in her arms as she made her way down to the dungeon, her heart heavy yet hopeful. Antinous hadn’t seen her son yet, and she was determined to introduce him to his nephew, even if the situation wasn’t ideal. However, Telemachus, as usual, wasn’t about to let her go alone. “I’m not leaving you alone with him,” Telemachus muttered as he trailed behind her. “Who knows what that lunatic might say to you?”
“He’s my brother, Telemachus,” she sighed, exasperated. “He’s chained in a cell. What harm can he do?”
“Emotional damage,” Telemachus quipped, smirking. She shot him a glare but said nothing, focusing on navigating the damp staircase. When they finally reached the cell, Antinous sat slouched against the wall, his expression sour as he looked up to see his visitors. His eyes narrowed when they landed on Telemachus.
“Well, isn’t this a treat,” Antinous drawled sarcastically. “The golden boy himself graces my humble dungeon. To what do I owe the honor?”
Telemachus smirked. “Just thought I’d make sure you weren’t causing trouble. You know, being a nuisance to the guards or sulking too loudly.”
She rolled her eyes and stepped forward, holding Adonis up slightly. “I brought someone to meet you, Antinous.”
Antinous’s sharp retort faltered as his eyes fell on the baby in her arms. For a moment, his hardened expression softened, but it was fleeting. “So that’s the kid,” he muttered.
“His name is Adonis,” she said, smiling faintly. She adjusted the baby so Antinous could get a better look. “He’s your nephew.”
Antinous tilted his head, his gaze lingering on Adonis. “He’s small,” he muttered. “And looks more like you than him, thankfully.”
Telemachus snorted. “You’re welcome, by the way, for blessing him with my superior lineage.”
Antinous shot him a glare. “Don’t flatter yourself, prince. He’ll probably grow up to resent you, just like the rest of us.”
“Antinous!” She snapped, giving her brother a warning look.
“What? I’m just speaking the truth,” Antinous said with a shrug. He leaned back against the wall, his eyes narrowing at Telemachus. “I don’t know why you even brought him down here, sister. He’s probably here to gloat.”
“Oh, absolutely,” Telemachus said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “Because nothing brings me more joy than spending my day with you.”
The bickering continued, much to her frustration. She sighed heavily, rocking Adonis gently in her arms. “You two are impossible, worse than children even,” she muttered. After a few more minutes of trading barbs, she decided it was time to leave. “We’ll come back another time,” she said firmly, giving Antinous a look that brokered no argument.
As she started up the stairs with Adonis, Telemachus hung back. “I’ll catch up,” he told her casually.
She paused, narrowing her eyes at him. “Telemachus…”
“Don’t worry,” he said with a disarming smile. “I’ll behave.” She didn’t look convinced but eventually nodded and continued up the stairs, leaving the two men alone.
Telemachus turned back to Antinous, his smirk widening as he stepped closer to the bars. “You know,” he began, his voice low and taunting, “for someone so protective of his sister, you’d think you’d be a little more grateful that I’m treating her so well.”
Antinous’s jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing dangerously. “What are you on about, wolf.”
Telemachus’s smirk turned into a full grin. “Let me paint you a picture,” he said, leaning casually against the bars. “Our wedding night. Y/N, in my arms, screaming my name so loudly I’m pretty sure all of Ithaca heard her.”
Antinous’s hands curled into fists, his knuckles turning white as his chains clinked. “You—”
“Wait, I’m not done,” Telemachus interrupted, holding up a hand. “See, the thing about her is, she’s… passionate. The way she clung to me, begged for more, and said ‘oh Telemachus!! It’s teeww big!!”—”
“You’re dead,” Antinous growled, lunging at the bars, his face red with fury. The chains stopped him short, but his rage was palpable. “When I get out of here, I’ll kill you with my bare hands! I’ll make you let out blood curling screams as I tear you limb from limb!”
Telemachus laughed, stepping back just out of reach. “You’ll have to get past the guards first. But hey, good luck with that.” Antinous continued to curse and shout as Telemachus turned and walked up the stairs, his grin never faltering.
When he caught up with her, she raised an eyebrow at him. “What did you say to him?”
“Oh, nothing important,” Telemachus replied breezily, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “Just reminding him who won.”
“You’re so immature.” She sighed as she held Adonis closer to her chest.

feeling absolutely unhinged tn just wanna be eddie’s little HOUSEWIFE more than i wanna BREATHE
Come Home
Mechanic!Eddie Munson x fem!reader
Warnings: NSFW, 18+ ONLY, PIV sex / unprotected sex, oral sex (m receiving), titty fucking, recreational drug use and alcohol consumption, dirty talk
It’s a role playing thing more than anything else. You are a teacher and, as such, are very busy and a far cry from a stay-at-home anything. Hell, you’re not even married to the man.
But ever since you and Eddie had moved into the little third floor walk up in what could laughingly be called Downtown Hawkins (really just the overgrown main street), Eddie had been jokingly calling you his little housewife. It’s a title that sends shivers down your spine and a smile spreading across your face any time he utters it. And he does so jokingly, of course. You know how much Eddie respects your ambition and your hard work, so you’ve never had to worry that he truly wanted to see you barefoot and pregnant, stuck in the kitchen for the rest of your days.
But some days that idea is way more appealing than you’d like to admit.
On this day in particularly, you find yourself fantasizing about it more than normal. In the morning you’d woken up earlier than usual, roused by the loud thunk of a garbage man tossing a can recklessly back into place. Unable to go back to sleep, you’d extricated yourself from Eddie’s arms and tiptoed into the kitchen where you’d whipped up a batch of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and fresh coffee. Way more than your usual weekday toast or cereal, mainly because you wanted to give your tired brain something to focus on in order to wake up more fully before work.
Eddie had stumbled into the kitchen, stretching and in his mechanic coveralls, with a massive grin on his face.
“What has my little housewife been up to this morning?!” His voice had bellowed through the small space and you’d dropped the spatula in order to walk over to him.
“Thought my big strong man could use a hearty breakfast before he has to go to work for the day,” you’d said with a humorous lilt, wrapping your arms around his neck just as his hands come to rest on your waist, pulling your body to his. Your words and actions made his grin grow even bigger.
“You’re so beyond good to me, you know that? What’d I ever do to deserve a babe like you, huh?” he’d asked, sliding his hands down and around to squeeze your ass. You’d squealed and pushed yourself further into his body.
“You treat me right in the bedroom, so I treat you right in the kitchen. Those are the rules.” You’d said it primly it as if reciting a gospel. He’d laughed and shoved his face into your neck, peppering kisses against your throat and cleavage till you’d screamed about not wanting to burn the last batch of pancakes.
The two of you had sat together at your shitty linoleum dinette set eating breakfast way too fancy for a Thursday. Eddie had insisted on pulling his chair right up against yours and keeping his hand on your thigh even while he devoured forkfuls of eggs and pancakes with abandon.
By the time you were driving home from work, however, the phantom feeling of the weight of his hand on your thigh from the morning still hadn’t dissipated. It had been a half day, allowing the students to leave early in order to theoretically study for finals (but you heard tell of a bonfire that was going to be happening down by the lake so you held no delusions that the free time would be utilized by any for actual academic purposes). So this meant you were going to be home way ahead of Eddie today.
Your first thought upon waking through the front door is that you should masturbate. You’d been feeling so confined by your clothes all day and had been feeling needy since you’d kissed your boyfriend good bye on your way out the door.
So you march right into your shared bedroom, strip down to your sensible underwear, light a candle, and lay across your bed. You hadn’t had to get yourself off in a good long while. Eddie kept you good and satisfied, the insatiable man that he is. You do your best to get in the right mindset, breathing deeply running your hands along your body.
You catch a glimpse of yourself, however, in the mirror across the room and you frown. Maybe your underwear is too sensible. Gliding to your dresser you dig in one of your drawers and pull out the lingerie you’d been planning on surprising Eddie with on his birthday. It’s lacy and see through and your heart rate kicks up just at the thought of the way you know his jaw will drop and his eyes will widen at the sight of you.
Once your curves are encased in the fine fabric, you lay down on the bed once more. Hands slide up to you with your nipples through the fabric and you sigh. It feels good. Not as good as it would if it was Eddie touching you…but good.
You roll onto your stomach and look at the clock. 2:00 pm.
Fuck.
Eddie wouldn’t be home for hours. The injustice of that fact makes you pout and roll petulantly back over onto your other side. This new position gives you a straight line of sight to Eddie’s old black lunch pail and you perk up. This might be your best bet to loosening up and finding pleasure on your own.
~*~
It’s 2:45pm when the shop phone rings. Eddie doesn’t look up from the car that he’s working on, instead ducking his head further under the hood and squinting at the engine that’s been giving him a hard time.
“Eds! It’s your girl calling!”
Eddie stands up straight so fast he bangs his head hard on the underside of the hood.
“Motherfuck,” he mutters to himself, rubbing a grease-stained hand on the part of his head that was sure to soon form a bump. He makes his way over to the little office of the mechanic shop and takes the phone from his uncle’s outstretched hand with an appreciative nod.
“Baby? What’s up? Is everything okay?” Eddie’s apprehension is clear. You never call him at work. Not because you don’t want to but because your days are usually both so busy there’s barely any chance to do so.
“Eddie!” you cry out over the phone, your voice high and bright. “I miss you. Come home.”
Eddie’s a bit startled by your demand, immediately checking his watch. Just as he thought, it’s still really early in the afternoon.
“Why are you home so early? Are you sick?” His heart starts thudding over the possibilities when he hears your musical laugh.
“No it’s a half day at work, silly. Remember?”
Eddie shakes away his fears and laughs along.
“Oh sorry sweetheart, completely forgot.” He tosses a glance back into the shop at all the cars he still has to get to. “Must be nice. Getting into any trouble with your free time?”
He asks the question lightly. Joking. Fully expecting you to say you’re about to go grocery shopping or you’re watching a shitty movie on tv or reading one of your paper backs. But then you mumble.
“Well...maybe just a little.”
Eddie’s eyebrows shoot up to his hairline and a huff of a chuckle escapes his lips.
“Oh yeah? What’s my girl up to, huh?”
There’s the rustle of fabric over the line and then your voice is low.
“I’ve needed you since you left this morning Eddie. Can’t take care of myself as good as you can,” you say, practically moping. Eddie’s stomach flips and he slams his back against the wall next to the phone, making sure he can no longer be seen in the doorway from the shop.
“Oh fuck, sweetheart are you...are you touching yourself?”
“I was trying to. It’s getting a little easier now that the edible is kicking in,” you say, sounding far off for a second like you’re thinking real hard about it.
“Now that the…” Eddie’s face splits in a massive grin and he rubs a hand over his eye. “So you’re telling me you’re high right now?”
“It’s kicking in, yeah,” you whisper cheekily and he can guess you’re smiling.
“So you mean to tell me that you’re high…and horny…and calling - begging - for me to come home and fuck you?” Eddie closes his eyes and squeezes the phone cord so tightly that he’d worry it would snap if he actually gave a fuck. His low, almost growling words cause you to moan over the phone and his knees go weak.
“Yes, Eddie. Need you so bad. Can you come take care of me? Please?”
Eddie doesn’t reply, not directly to you. Instead he turns toward the shop and cries out, loud enough that you hear it and descend into giggles.
“Uncle Wayne, I’ve gotta go. Gotta…take care of something at home!”
~*~
When Eddie thunders up the stairs to your shared apartment, he doesn’t know that you can hear him coming from inside. You laugh at the way you can hear his enthusiasm in his rapid steps and adjust yourself, waiting for him to reach the door.
When you hear him step onto the welcome mat you wrench the door open and lean against the frame dramatically. Just on cue, Eddie’s jaw drops to the floor.
“Welcome home, baby,” you coo handing over the glass of whiskey you have in one hand. His eyes are so fixed on your lingerie that he barely notices what you were holding in the other hand until you busy yourself with it.
You bring one of his pre-rolled joints up to your lips and light it with his favorite lighter, puffing a bit to bring the burning end to life. The lap of Eddie’s mechanic coveralls immediately tightens as he watches your plush lips work around the joint.
“Fucking Christ…” Eddie mutters to himself before knocking back the entire glass of whiskey in one go. You pull the joint from your lips to laugh at his reaction, squealing when he slams the door and grabs you around the waist, dragging you into the apartment. “Where have you been all my life?”
You giggle and bring the joint up to his lips, delighted when he takes a grateful drag.
“I’ve literally been right next to you your whole life,” you respond, referring to the friendship you’d shared since grade school, long before you both admitted your feelings for one another.
“Well fucking stay right next to me, okay?” Eddie gruffly asks, burying his face in your neck. You hum your approval and wrap yourself around his tall, lanky frame.
“That depends.”
“Oh? On what?”
“Can you fuck me now?” you ask breathlessly. Eddie pulls back to look at you, laughing, but you’re not joking.
“Of course, baby. But I just got in the door. Let me shower and - ,”
“No!” you say petulantly, holding onto him as he tries to step out of your grasp. “I want you like this.”
You begin kissing up his neck and he attempts to extricate himself.
“Sweetheart, I’m covered in grease and sweat...” Eddie shakes his head but you’re nodding so profusely he stops in his tracks.
“’s what I’ve been fantasizing about all day,” you clarify, biting your lip and looking up at him through dropping eyelashes. Eddie’s cock hardens that much more and soon you’re pressed up against the closed door to your shared bedroom, his thigh fitted between yours in a way that has you panting.
When Eddie finally pulls away from the act of devouring your mouth, you sag against the door to catch your breath, watching as he pulls from the joint that he must have miraculously continued to hold onto as you’d made out. He looks like sex on a stick as he stands there, propped up by the arm against the door beside you, joint between his lips, tousled hair sticking up in every direction from the impatience of your hands. His coveralls have been zipped open and pushed askew by those same impatient hands and he smiles under your scrutiny.
“What brought this...enthusiasm on, babe?” he asks lowly. “Not that I’m complaining of course.”
You wriggle under his gaze. A little embarrassed, but also wholly aware that it’s Eddie. Your Eddie. So you’re honest.
“Wanna be your little housewife,” you admit shyly. His features crumple for a split second as he is entirely unable to handle how fucking adorable you are. But just as quickly he’s grinning.
“Of course you do,” he says confidently. He places the joint back between his lips and presses his thumb against the plush of your lower lip. The tip of your tongue darts out automatically to lick at the pad of his thumb and Eddie’s breath catches. Your pupils are blown wide. You’re properly horny (and properly stoned) and a deep seeded desire to care for you bubbles in his abdomen. “Can you get on the bed for me, princess?”
Like a gentleman, he opens the door you’d been pressed against and bows you inside. You do as you’re told and immediately drop down onto the mattress, looking up at him expectantly like a puppy who is awaiting further trick instruction. Eddie wants to laugh, but his dick also twitches impatiently in his coveralls, reminding him action is probably the best next course.
“Undress me?” he asks as the next part of his plan. You get up on your knees on the bed and drag him to you by the fabric of his coveralls. Tongue placed between teeth, you stare him in the eyes as you zip him down all the way, pushing the sleeves over and off his shoulders. The garment drops to gather at his hips where it tented at the crotch, catching on his hard dick. You whimper and reach for it but Eddie grabs your arms and winds them around his neck, pulling you in for a kiss.
When he pulls back, he has a smirk on his lips.
"Alright. Time for a shower."
Your brows knit together immediately in betrayal and your arms tighten around him, trying to keep him grounded against you.
"But I - !"
Eddie shushes you and steps out of his coveralls. His boxer-covered dick prods insistently against you and it makes you whine more, rubbing into it as much as you can. But Eddie's having none of it. He pulls you off the bed, dragging you alongside him on his way to the bathroom.
"Shhh, sweetheart. You're gonna help clean me up. That's what a good housewife would do, yeah?" He comes to a stop in front of the sink, leaning you against the counter so he can pull back the shower curtain and turn on the water. You brighten up a little at his words.
"Yeah..." you agree tentatively. Eddie rewards you with a massive grin and before he can stall any longer, you strip down his boxers and nudge him into the shower. You tear off your lingerie and step in behind him as fast as you can, pushing your way into his waiting, dripping arms.
"There's my baby," he coos. The longer the two of you stand in warm embrace beneath the steaming shower head, the more his erection flags into a contented, semi-hard state, however, and you aren't having any of that. So you are the one who pulls away and gets to work.
You clean your man. Well.
Soap up and down the length of his body. Shampoo in his hair - which you can only access efficiently once he leans down to help you reach. He hums and groans as you massage the shampoo and then the conditioner into his scalp and the sound makes your entire body sing. There's so much intimacy in the act, and if you weren't so turned on that every nerve in your body felt like a live wire, you probably would have enjoyed it more. Once he's started rinsing off, however, you attend to your favorite part. Running your hands up and down his abdomen and tugging at his cock without preamble.
"Baby..." Eddie reprimands, his eyes closed against the spray of water as he rinses conditioner out of his sopping curls. He doesn't open his eyes or move to stop you so you take that as your cue to continue. You get him nice and hard again, aided by the shower water and saliva that you spit into your hand.
"Sweetheart," Eddie tries again, chuckling this time and grabbing at your wrist. "I'm supposed to be getting clean."
"I don't care," you answer petulantly. "You've kept me waiting."
Eddie's laugh is full-bellied this time. He turns the water off and slaps your ass lightly, stepping around you to get out of the shower.
"I know, baby, and that was cruel. Why don't you get dried up and put on another one of those little get ups for me. I'll get us another drink and we'll do whatever you want, okay?"
You fight the urge to groan in frustration that you're being made to wait yet again, but a good housewife wouldn't do that. So you nod and wrap yourself in the towel he offers you, bouncing back to the bedroom on impatient feet.
~*~
Eddie had gotten the upper hand on you, that much he knew. Making you wait had been cruel, but he knew it was better then getting you - and the bedroom - all covered in grease. He makes a mental note, however, to fuck you on his work counter at the garage one evening next week after closing time when Wayne was out of town. He's nothing if not attentive to your wants and needs.
He whistles as he walks back to the room, a glass of water and two cold bottles of beer in hand. He's expecting you to be waiting patiently - maybe even already at the door. But he stops short the minute he sees you.
You're spread out on the bed in a different lingerie set, this one somehow even sexier than the last (the second part of the birthday present you're giving him early) and he feels his entire body flush a deep red. You watch it spread down his neck and chest and rub your thighs together.
"Eddieeee," you call out, letting the second syllable become a whine. You might still be begging, but you're the one in power now, as far as Eddie is concerned, as he moves on autopilot towards you. You get up onto your knees and accept the bottle of beer from him, wrapping your lips around it lasciviously. Eddie chokes as he takes his own sip.
"Can I have it?" you ask, gazing up at him from beneath your eyelashes. Eddie swallows thickly.
"Can you have what, princess?" he asks. He knows what you want. He's just a teasing asshole and needs you to say it.
But you are tired of playing the game so you don't play fair. Instead of answering him you pull at the towel tied around his waist till it falls to the floor, exposing an erection so proud your mouth positively waters. You make eye contact as you reach for it, practically daring him to get in the way of what you want again. But Eddie's resolve is completely gone at this point, and he lets you have it, letting his eyes fall closed at the sensation of your hand wrapping around him.
You tug at him. You let your thumb ease over the thick vein that you so enjoy licking. You flick your wrist when your fist encases his mushroom head, coaxing a bead of precum out the slit just as you'd hoped.
Eddie takes one final swig of his beer before grabbing your bottle from you and placing both it and his on the night stand. You whine when the motion pulls his cock out of your grasp, but you’re placated when he climbs onto the bed and grabs you by the thighs, pulling you roughly under him.
“How do you want it, baby?” He asks, kissing a trail down your neck from your ear to your clavicle. “What’s my girl been fantasizing about in that little head of yours?”
A tiny half sober part of your brain finds humor in the phrasing of the question. You happen to know Eddie finds you to be the smartest person he’s ever met, so the diminutive nature of his words tickles the part of you that longed for role play like this. Tired of being the smart girl, the serious girl, the strong girl, right now you just want to be this. Eddie’s girl.
“I just want to make you feel good,” you coo. You can see the conflict play out behind his eyes at your response. On one hand he’s so fucking turned on by you wanting to please him. Like he can’t fucking stand how turned on he is. But he also gets off on you getting off, so he’s not sure how to proceed.
And you know this. You know your Eddie is the most selfless, generous lover you’ve ever had and you know that it must kill him to think of putting his pleasure first. But you furrow your brow and give him the biggest puppy dog eyes possible in an attempt to telegraph the fact that you need him to play along. That him taking what he wants will be giving you everything you need.
It’s clear the moment this clicks in his mind because Eddie’s features go soft. He rubs a knuckle lightly against your temple and smiles.
“Of course my baby wants to make me feel good." The kiss he places to your forehead and then the tip of your nose makes your eyes slide closed. So it's soft he wants, you think to yourself. Your heart rattling around in your ribcage doesn't exactly feel ready to slow down enough to match a soft tempo, but you'll work with what he wants to give you.
At least that's what you're thinking when suddenly you feel the bed shifting away from you and your world upended when Eddie flips you over onto your hands and knees. You scramble for purchase against the sheets and yelp in surprise, but you don't even have a second to get situated before Eddie is dragging you back against him by your hips.
"Gonna do so good for me, aren't you baby?" Eddie asks, deep and low from behind you. His voice makes you shiver, as does his hand which slides from between your shoulder blades, down the line of your spine, ultimately delivering a light slap that has your ass bouncing. He groans at the visual of his own making, gripping your hips with two hands again. "Fuck that's the ticket right there, huh?"
"Let me be good for you - oh!" You start off trying to incite him to finally do something but break off in a gasp when his cock begins sliding through your pussy lips, getting your slick all over his hardened length. The tip prods your clit and you buckle inward, so turned on and edged from the events of the last few hours. Eddie laughs and the sound goes straight to your core.
"My little wife that sensitive? Worked yourself up so much for me, huh sweetheart?"
The whimpering inhale to take in in response to that statement makes his cock pulse.
"Need you, Eddie," you whisper. Eddie hums behind you before pushing at your hip to flip you over once again. You're more disoriented this time, even more so when Eddie moves from his place between your thighs in order to straddle your stomach.
You gaze at him above you from your new position on your back and...fuck it is glorious. You try to make grabby hands at him but he ignores you, leaning over instead to the nightstand where you'd left his other pre-rolled joint. He lights it and resituates himself over you, taking a deep drag and dropping his head back as he holds the smoke deep in his lungs while stroking his cock over you with his free hand.
"Jesus Christ..." you mutter to yourself at the debaucherous image above you. You lift up onto your elbows to get closer and he rolls his head back toward you, opening his eyes half mast to blow smoke in your direction. When the cloud clears you see his lazy grin, red-rimmed eyes sweeping up and down your figure.
"This do it for ya?" he asks, playfully. You nod forcefully, unable to take your eyes off the head of his angry red cock disappearing and reappearing in his fist. The slide is loud and fast and wet. Wet from your own slick, your realize with a lurch of your stomach. Fuck you want him inside you. Reaching out a hand towards him, you tear your gaze away from his dick and bring it back up to his overly amused face.
"Can I help?" you ask, way too innocently for the context of the situation. Eddie pretends to mull it over, joint elevated in his free hand as his tongue slides over his teeth.
"Yeah, I think there's something you can do..." he says vaguely. You're unsure of the implications until he moves forward, pushing the straps of your lingerie off your arms, and it is suddenly abundantly clear what he is angling for - and you couldn't be more excited.
As Eddie brings the underside of his cock to rest against your sternum, you lift your breasts up on either side to sandwich his length between. Eddie watches you from above, his grin indicating how proud he is that you're playing along so quickly.
"There you go, that's perfect. Now could you just - oh fuck." Without him even having to complete the request, you spit on his cock, adding to the wetness still present from your slick, reaching up and spreading it over his erection in a way that has him biting his lip in seconds. "Look at you, knowing just what I need."
You smile up at him and push your breasts together again, moving slightly to let him feel the drag of your plush skin against him. Eddie places the joint back between his lips and leans forward to grip your shoulders for leverage. This allows him to fuck his hips back and forth, creating the friction he was seeking.
Though this act doesn't directly stimulate any of your erogenous zones specifically, the sounds it pulls from his lips and the look on his crumpled face as he watches what you're letting him do to you - it's got your pussy practically weeping.
"You're so fucking hot, princess," Eddie says around the joint before taking one last long hit and reaching over to stamp it out in the ashtray on the bedside table. With both his hands free, he returns to you with renewed attention, dropping his palms to circle lightly over your nipples. Your eyes widen at the stimulation and Eddie grins. "Like it when I fuck your tits?"
"Yes," you breathe out in response immediately.
Eddie pinches your nipples as a reward and your hips stutter upwards into nothing behind him. Eddie laughs and begins thrusting a bit harder, wrapping his big hands around your smaller ones to help crush your tits even tighter around his cock.
"Fuckin' yeah you do. My perfect girl. Oh shit, just look at you," he practically grunts. You stare heart eyes up at him, watching him take pleasure from your flesh in the most selfish way while still somehow making you feel like you're god's gift to earth. The image of him - eyes blown black and lips red and swollen from biting as his cock moves in the valley of your breasts - has you letting out an unfiltered moan. Eddie's brow twists in mock sympathy. "Need something, princess?"
Your hips buck again and Eddie chuckles, reaching a hand behind himself and down between your legs to play with you where you need him most. He jaw drops at the feeling of your excessive arousal.
"Fuck, sweetheart, you're soaked. I've been neglecting you, haven't I?" he frowns down at you in faux commiseration. You shake your head but your eyelids flutter at the feeling of his fingers against your clit.
"No this is - oh. This is about y-you," you respond, squeezing your breasts tighter to try and get him to fuck them faster. Eddie ignores your statement and instead sinks a two fingers into your heat. Your body tightens and your eyes slam shut. The feeling of his fingers inside you and his thumb on your clit have you neglecting your goal and after a few minutes your hands drop entirely from your breasts in favor of fisting the sheets. Eddie's dick slides up and down your slicked sternum along to the rocking of your body. Watching it rub against your wet skin, watching your tits bounce freely while your cunt squelches loudly around the in and out motions of his fingers - it all has Eddie feeling higher than any strain ever could.
After a few minutes more of the best show Eddie's ever seen in his life, he eases his fingers out of you and brings them to your lips, pulling the bottom one out from between your teeth. The action has you opening your dazed eyes to peer up at him, breathless.
"Let's take care of that pretty pussy now, alright?" Eddie prompts, easing himself back to sit on the bed between your legs. You seize the moment, however, and disentangle yourself from him, dropping down to take his cock in your mouth. Eddie's hands immediately find your hair and he chokes on air. "Hey, hey, stop that, I said we're taking care of you."
"This is what I want," you try to say, but your mouth is a little preoccupied with his cock. You run your tongue up the vein you love so much. You let his fat tip tap the back of your throat, gagging eagerly when you feel his hips press forward just that tiny bit more as he loses himself in the feeling of you.
It's messy. Absolutely filthy, exactly how you like it. Exactly how you know he likes it. With your hands on his balls and elbows and knees digging into the mattress, you arch your back and make sure your ass sticks up that much more with each bob of your head. Eddie certainly takes note. You know because eventually his hand slides back to get a big handful of one of your cheeks before raining down a slap on your backside that has you slamming forward and choking on his length even more. Your eyes water and your throat burns. The guttural moan he lets out in response, however, is priceless.
You're more than a little disappointed when he pulls you off of him finally, holding you back with his hands under your arms like you're a child he doesn't trust to behave correctly.
"Now are you going to let me fuck you or not?" he asks, his voice absurdly tired as if he's suffered some great inconvenience.
You feel inhibition-less, both from your nice high and the result of being absolutely cock drunk at this point, so you giggle and draw a line down from his jaw, over his neck and clavicle, and down to circle one of his nipples.
"You've already fucked me," you tease with a voice hoarse from his dick. You lean forward in spite of his hold on you and lick a stripe from peck to peck, kitten licking his other nipple and up the expanse of his tattoo. "In two different ways, actually."
Eddie, now fully riled up and aching, has had enough of your teasing (though to be fair he's done much worse to you so far today). He pulls you back into sitting position and grips your jaw lightly to force your roving eyes to focus on his.
"I want to fuck you properly now," he enunciates dramatically. You nod his grip and he nods along with you, trying to hide the grin growing on his lips. "What'll it be? Back or hands and knees?"
Before he's even finished asking, though, you've pulled out of his light grasp and scrambled around on the bed, dropping to your forearms and presenting your ass to him. Eddie groans, deep and low, and squeezes at your hips and waist almost too tightly. Almost. Instead you moan at the bruising feeling and wiggle your ass to beg for more.
The sight of you in front of him, primed and ready and all covered in lace has Eddie's mouth positively watering. He realizes, however, that you're still trussed up in your lingerie. The straps are down and your tits are out, and he'd moved the gusset of your panties to the side to finger you, but there are still parts of your body obscured by fabric. And that just doesn't sit right with him.
There are a few ties in the back that he attempts to fidget with, but his impatience gets the better of him after just a few moments. He grips two handfuls of the material and wrenches the body suit in two, straight down the middle.
"Eddie!" you chastise, high and loud. It ends on an incredulous laugh because, regardless of how absurd and immature the action was, it's also incredibly hot. "This was supposed to be a birthday present for you!"
"Well fuck, baby. I had to unwrap it first, jeez," Eddie laughs right back. He pulls the tattered remains of the ruined garment off, tossing it away from the bed, before grabbing you by the front of your thighs and slamming your body back against him. The two of you let out twin moans at the impact. His cock slides around in your slick for a moment, but you're no longer waiting around. You reach down and guide him inside you without any further preamble.
The stretch is still immense, regardless of the excessive foreplay. He's always been a lot to take, and your body is somehow always still shocked by his sheer size. But Eddie anticipates this, of course, so his finger is on your clit within seconds, working you through the initial ache and bringing you quickly into a throbbing, expectant pleasure.
"This pussy's been waiting for me, hasn't she," Eddie whispers right in your ear. His chest is on your back as his hips begin rolling, bringing him in and out of you.
"N-needed you for so long, Eddie," you whimper, cheek pressing into the sheets. Eddie tsks and places kisses to the base of your neck and shoulders.
"I know, baby. You've been so good, waiting for me to come home and take care of you."
“Always waiting for you to come home,” you whimper. Eddie knows it’s just part of the role play. He knows you have work and your own hobbies and friends and a life on top of the one you share with him. Realistically you aren’t sitting around at home waiting for him. But the memory of your voice so sweetly begging him on the phone and the memory of you greeting him at the door in lingerie mixes with the sensory overload he’s experiencing inside you. It makes his cock twitch and his fingers grip your waist with a bruising pressure that you love.
“I know, princess,” he hums, dropping down over you again so that his chest is to your back, hands propping him up on the mattress on either side of you. With one hand Eddie pulls your hair aside so he can pepper light kisses to the back of your neck. A stark contrast to the unforgiving, pendulous thrust of his hips.
“Maybe I should just keep you here,” he says breathlessly after a few minutes that are silent save for the wet slap of skin on skin. He feels you shudder beneath him and continues, lips catching your earlobe. “Keep you naked and wet and waiting on this bed for me at all times. Filled with my cum. Covered in it.”
You inhale sharply at his words and your lips pull into a dramatic o. Eddie feels you clench around him and is more than aware of what this is doing to you.
So of course he continues.
“That’s what you want, isn’t it? To be my pretty little thing?”
You nod your head erratically into the mattress, practically beside yourself at this point. It’s exactly what you want, at least for the purposes of this fantasy. The weight of Eddie against you and the steady way his cock pummels that sweet spot inside you has your eyes rolling back in your head as your lids drop. It has your toes curling and your brain going fuzzy, like static with an untuned radio station. Every nerve ending in your body has evaporated save for the ones between your thighs which receive all of the attention they could ever need.
“Tell me you’re mine, baby,” Eddie says abruptly. Your hazy mind struggles to comprehend his words but understanding seeps through, as does the memory that for as much as you love praise, your man feeds off it as well.
“I’m yours, Eddie Munson,” you gasp, the words twisting in a whine. His finger has found your clit again and it’s just unfair how ducking good it feels. You arch your back into the feeling, widening your legs to encourage him even deeper. The sight and your words has Eddie gritting his teeth.
“Oh fuck this,” he says suddenly, abruptly pulling out and flipping you onto your back. The sudden motion and the unwelcome emptiness has you dazed and your stare at the ceiling in confusion, blind to the way Eddie adjusts you. He lifts your hips up to slide a pillow under the small of your back, elevating you and extending your legs. In this new position the backs of your thighs meet the tops of his, your knees hooking on his hips while his knees dig into the mattress.
Hearing a shick shick shick sound that doesn’t correspond with the feeling of his dick re-entering you is both disorienting and upsetting, so you tip your chin to your chest in an effort to get a glimpse of him tugging on his slicked cock. However, that’s the exact moment that Eddie leans over you and fills your field of vision with his beautiful face.
“Sorry, princess. Needed to see your eyes while you said you were mine.” His words are so sweet, but he subverts the sweetness by choosing that exact moment to breach your entrance again.
“Oh god. Eddie - oh.” Your eyes slam shut to keep from crossing while you struggle up fathom the deliciousness of his first inward thrust. When his rhythm picks up, however, you feel his big warm palm press against your cheek before giving it a feather light tap to gain your attention.
“Eyes on me, pretty girl,” Eddie coos. You do as he says, squinting up at him to take in his massive, pleased smile. His hair is stuck to his temples, whether still wet from the shower or sweaty from exertion you’re unsure. All you are sure of is that fact that he is gorgeous. His eyes that shine down on you with so much love, the dimples that sink into his cheek to make space for his joy, his lips that move as they say your name. The whole picture has your brain screaming mine mine mine mine.
“That’s right, pretty girl, all yours,” Eddie agrees with a smirk. Your brain and drug addled brain must have caused you to speak your thoughts out loud but you can’t bring it in you to care. Not when Eddie is hoisting you up even higher against his elevated lap, causing your back to arch off the bed, your head and shoulders pressing down against the mattress for leverage as you bounce in his grasp.
“Jesus Christ, I want it. I want it, I w-want it Eddie…” You’re positively rambling now, scrabbling against the sheets for purchase. Seeking out your organs with legs that shake as the squeeze against Eddie’s narrow hips.
“And I want you. Wanna fuck you on the washing machine. Bend you over the - fuck - the kitchen counter while you wear one of those aprons and nothing else.” If you’re rambling, so is he. He’s so far gone in the fantasy at this point, so overwhelmed by everything he never thought he, the town freak, could want let alone have, in any capacity.
The gravel tone of his voice and the fucked out look on his face are what do you in ultimately. You squeeze down on his cock and cry out, wide eyes blind with pleasure and fingernails digging into any part of him you can reach.
“Oh god, oh Eddie!”
“Fucking shit, princess. You’re so tight, that’s - fuck!” Eddie has lost all intelligibility at this point. But that’s just fine by you, because you’re miles high now. Body tingling and seizing and floating, both from the weed and the strength of your climax.
You fall boneless back to the bed and register the fact that Eddie’s still teetering on the brink, every muscle tensed and shaking as he chases satisfaction. Your body is pushed higher up the bed with each of his escalating, punishing thrusts. He seems lost, and that’s what gives you the instinct to ground him.
Grabbing at his neck and shoulders, you pull Eddie down to you, causing him to catch himself on the mattress on either side of your head while you kiss him. It’s extremely one sided with his fat gone he is and with how much energy he has focused on pistoning into your soaked pussy. But it feels good nonetheless and you know it’s doing something for you to slide your tongue into his slack jawed mouth because it causes him to let out a groan from deep in his chest.
When you pull away you place your hands on both sides of his face and hold him there to make eye contact. His gaze is incredibly unfocused, and his brow is twisted in agony, but you keep the eye contact and make sure to enunciate when you speak.
“I’m yours, Eddie Munson,” you repeat the earlier sentiment, this time staring straight into his soul. Eddie’s entire body convulses then, just like clock work, and he buries his face into your neck and clings to you while hot ropes of his cum paint your walls. You hold him through it, even as his hips continue to rock. “There we go. That’s it.”
It takes him several moments to come back to earth, aided in his return only by the gentle feeling of your hands caressing his back and sliding through his hair. He hums into your neck, pressing a kiss to the sensitive skin there before finally pulling back to look at you.
Your kiss swollen lips are still wet. Your eyes are much to bright and your hair is positively bedraggled. All surefire proof that you have been well and thoroughly debauched. Pride swells in his chest at the sight, but it also swells in his dick, causing it to twitch inside you in spite of softening, and you inhale sharply at the feeling. Your features settle back into a relaxed smile though and Eddie kisses beneath your eye.
“That do it for you, baby?” he asks, voice ridiculously smug. You reward him with a massive smile, but your shrug throws him.
“Yeah, but we’re just getting started handsome. We have the rest of the day. Thought you wanted to keep me in your bed, filled and covered in cum?”
A deep blush stains Eddie’s cheeks and chest as you quote the dirty talk he’d spewed in a moment of passion. But, not one to back down from a challenge, he pulls his softened cock out of you slowly, pleased by the way your smirk crumples st the loss.
“You’re right, princess,” Eddie says with a grin. He drags the reddened head of his cock up from your slit over your pubic bone and to your lower belly, sure to catch it on your clit on the way up to elicit a gasp from you. He smears the mixture of your cum and his there on your belly before leaning down and licking a stripe up through the mess that has you clenching around nothing.
When Eddie looks up to find you gazing at him with mooning eyes, he takes pity on you and leans back up for a kiss. A sweaty, salty, cum-flavored kiss that’s everything you, the freak’s lover and a freak in her own right, could ever want.
It doesn’t take long before wandering hands and massaging tongues lead you to feel something stiff digging into your hip again. You reach down and graze your fingers over his leaking tip and bite your lip.
“Make me yours again, handsome, and if I can still walk afterwards I’ll make you dinner.”
Eddie shakes his head deviously at your proposal.
“We’ll be having take out.”
You frown up at him.
“But I thought you like it when I make dinner,” you begin to argue, but then you’re crying out because Eddie sheaths himself back inside you with one thrust. Your pliant, wet, satiated body welcomes him without protest this time. Eddie grasps at your curves and nudges his nose against yours before moving.
“I do love it when you make dinner, baby. But the way I intend on fucking you, you sure as hell won’t be able to walk tonight. That’s a promise.”
And your Eddie is a man of his word.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This week had been exhausting. With December arriving the deadlines for your assignments were drawing closer. You had several projects that would need turning in soon, most of which you hadn’t even looked at yet. The stress was mounting inside you and what wasn’t helping was the absence of your girlfriend. Wanda.
She’d been pulled away on a mission leaving you alone for the past few days. You missed her deeply. She had sent you a text about the most recent battle making your struggles pale in comparison. The safety of humanity vs an end of term paper wasn’t something even worth debating.
So you didn’t mention it. Besides she was coming home today so you spent the day cleaning; making sure Wanda could relax and put her feet up as soon as she got home to your shared apartment. You’d gone grocery shopping and picked up some fresh flowers as well as ingredients to bake her favourite double chocolate cookies.
As you scrubbed down the bathroom counters all you could think about was your work. An attempt was made to start a project but you didn’t get very far. All the staring at a blank word doc had done was give you a headache. You were so lost in thought of your earlier failure you hadn’t registered the kitchen timer going off.
“Fuck!” You said after checking the time seeing it had been two hours since you put the cookies in the oven. You hurried to the kitchen after smelling the burning. Stupidly you opened the oven door, momentarily blinding yourself as a cloud of smoke engulfed the room setting off the smoke alarm.
“No no no…” Wanda would be home soon and you’d ruined the surprise. Too busy thinking about your own problems. There wasn’t enough time nor did you have enough ingredients to bake another batch. Everything was going wrong today. You couldn’t do anything right. Frantically waving your hands about you tried to clear the smoke. The alarm yelled at you for your mistakes. Its noise stopped you from hearing the front door open.
“Y/n?!” Wanda rushed to the kitchen after seeing the smoke, worried something was on fire, but all she saw was you frantically waving your hands around. She smiled slightly before using her magic to clear the air.
You jumped and quickly spun around as you realized who was there. “W-Wanda!” Instinctively you reached for the tray of cremated cookies, wanting to hide the evidence but forgetting they would still be hot. The hot metal tray burnt your skin and you let out a paid cry.
“Baby no,” Wanda looked concerned as she hurried over to help, “shhhh it’s okay.” She took your hand in hers as she used her magic to heal you but the damage had been done. The small burn had opened the flood gates and weeks of stress began to pour out.
“Does it still hurt?” Wanda asked as you started to cry. You shook your head no. “Whats wrong baby… tell me.” You lean back on the kitchen counter sliding down to the floor. Wanda sits next to you.
You felt silly crying like this. Face red, eyes squeezed tight, loudly sobbing in front of your girlfriend. Frustrated and angry at yourself for not being able to function like everyone else. Wanda looked at you with nothing but concern. “Baby please tell me whats wrong. Are you hurt? Do you not feel well?”
“Just… college work,” you manage to squeeze some words past your sobs. “Been stressed…” You felt embarrassed telling Wanda you’re stressed. She just got back from a life threatening mission and here you are complaining about your stupid day to day life. What you were going through was nothing compared to the dangerous, life threatening, world ending—
“Hey! Your life isn’t stupid.” Wanda interrupts your thoughts catching you off guard.
“No mind reading!” You shot back after you realized what she was doing.
“Sorry baby,” She said guiltily, “but the other half of that deal is be honest with me. I know I was busy but you can still tell me if something wrong.” Wanda looked up at the attempt at cookies and back down at you. “You’re so selfless baby. You did all this for me even when you felt like this?”
You flop over onto your side and pull your legs to your chest, hiding your face. “Doesn’t matter I ruined it. I’m the worst girlfriend ever.”
Wanda laughs, “oh? You’re the worst girlfriend ever are you?”
“…yeah”
“I don’t know, i don’t think the worst girlfriend ever would clean the whole apartment top to bottom, buy fresh flowers and bake my favorite cookies all while dealing with so much else.” You sit back up and see Wanda staring at you with so much love in her eyes it makes you tear up all over again.
“I’m sorry…”
“Shhhh baby,” Wanda pulls you into a hug. “No more apologies. Let’s go cuddle on the couch. Let me take care of my favourite girl.” She pulls you up off the floor and carries you into the living room. You love how Wanda could effortlessly pick you up. It makes you feel so safe to be held in her arms. She sits down on the couch with you on her lap.
“I can make you cookies tomorrow promise.” You say getting comfortable and snuggling into your girlfriend.
“Okay but we’re going to make your favorite not mine, deal?” Wanda whispers in your ear as she rubs circles on your back.
“Deal.” After a stressful day you feel yourself relax against your girlfriend. Tomorrow would be better.

Spencer had been etched with the weight of unsolved cases and the relentless march of time, and he was forced to call it a night around six. The team had already pulled an all-nighter earlier in the week, so Hotch decided they all deserved rest. Spencer, however, wasn’t tired (he was; it was the late cups of coffee). Nevertheless, he makes it to his apartment door, skipping every other step. As Spencer turned the key in the lock, a soft melody flowed from the other side, haunting him yet drawing him in.
When the door opens with a slight creak, the music only grows. The living room was a sanctuary, bathed in the golden hues of twilight and table lamps, together casting long, ethereal shadows across the aged wooden floor. Plants adorned the walls and shelves. Since you moved in, he has never shared a space with so many simple living things.  His record player, a testament to decades of shared music between him and his mother, spun its vinyl tale. This time it was for you, as it breathed life into the album as you sat on the couch in a nest of blankets.
Ah yes, it was Hozier day. The anticipated album release of Unreal Unearth. His girlfriend highly anticipated it. She had been vibrating as the week drew to a close with five days left, then three, then one. And it was well worth the wait, considering the tears continuing to streak her face as the Irish man begged for someone to not fall away from him.
Spencer set his bag down by the door and proceeded toward the couch with caution as if he were ready to pounce like a predator on prey. Except the end resulted in a tender hand on your shoulder. You looked up at him with a puffy face and snotty nose. It was Spencer’s next instinct to grab a tissue from the end table and offer it to you. Of course, you took it. And even though the answer was obvious, he still felt the need to ask, “Are you okay?”
It was a struggle for you to inhale, so you blew your nose again. "I didn’t expect this to be a breakup album.” The album sleeve was wrapped in your arms, proving to already be a prized possession. The tracklist was organized by the layers of Dante’s hell they fell under.
Spencer gave you a small smirk before placing a kiss on your head. “Well, I’ll go ahead and get started on dinner.” It was his turn to take the culinary reins for tonight. “Do you need anything?”
“I need to know who this woman is, Spencer.” You throw your head back as Hozier hits a high note that neither of you has heard from him before. You stay there as you ask, “Who made this man feel so much pain?”
“You want to fight Hozier’s ex-girlfriend?”
“Ew, no.” Your nose scrunched. “I just want to know how. The power to make a man feel this way.”
Spencer chuckled. He had answers. And he’s happy to not reply with any of them. “I’m making chicken parmesan. That okay?”
You nodded, soon returning to singing about holding a heart like a steering wheel. But you then grabbed his hand. Your eyes are red, and Spencer is sure you’ll need drops before the end of the night. “Did a part of you die the first time I called you ‘baby,’ Spencer?”
Spencer couldn’t help but smirk as he quirked a brow. “Do what?”
“They’re song lyrics.” You let go of him.
Spencer has never fully understood the uproar that comes with Hozier. Then again, no one really flocks to Beethoven and Chopin like they used to. Plus, Vivaldi wasn’t known for belting out in the middle of his pieces and Spencer can at least admit Hozier’s belts ( well, the ones he’s heard so far) tug at him by the chest. He came back to his senses quickly when his mismatched socks landed on the cold tile. He washed his hands and opened the fridge door with his good knee.
Songs of water and knives reminded him he had chicken to wash and cut. And the familiar feeling in his own kitchen gets the tasks in Spencer’s head in order. He could feel the weight of his week slowly lift, replaced by Spencer attempting to chop to the song. It was inefficient. Some songs play shockingly fast for a breakup album. He settled for a more percussion style of noise, making each slice more deliberate as a testament to his meticulousness.
The flour and breadcrumbs sizzled in the oil that mingled with the sight of you matching the pitch of the song and humming where Hozier shouted, caressing the album sleeve like it was alive and needed your warmth. The weight of the lyrics settling in your bones caused your head to fall in shock as a long, high note carried through the whole apartment.
The album played on, weaving tales of love and loss, each one successfully targeting your core and striking effectively. And when Spencer got into the groove of his own routine in the kitchen, he listened to the lyrics as they almost guided him to autopilot, reminding him of the joys that come with his leg around you in bed, ensuring you don’t move anywhere except closer to him. And how the idea of losing that is something he does not care to dwell on for long.
He could keep it together, he thought.
Until his voice soars about the glistening of an animal’s eyes. About the force of love for someone recklessly in the middle of the street. Spencer couldn’t help but feel a lump forming in his throat. It was a visceral reaction—Spencer's sniffle. But it wasn’t unheard.
You turned your gaze toward Spencer, your eyes soft with understanding. You could hear the emotion in his breath and the slight catch in his throat. “Spencer?” You asked.
“I’m fine.”
Your lower lip quivers with a puffy smile. “You’re crying.”
“No, I’m chopping. Chopping while completely fine.” His sniffles continued to give him away (sanitary stations over pride every time).
You couldn’t help but find the situation adorable. You lazily got up from the couch, letting one of the blankets slide off with you, dragging along behind you across the wood floor and then the tile. You carefully put your hands around his waist because safety comes first. You squeeze him, and he laughs a little. For a moment, he puts his left hand on your arm, keeping it there. You noticed how his fingertips were colder than expected as you looked at the cutting board from under his arm. “So basil makes you cry? Is that it?”
Spencer laughs again, diverting his gaze from the record player and clearing his eyes from unshed tears. “Today, it apparently does. There must be some emotional properties I didn’t consider.”
“Nothing to do with an Irish man singing his heart out?”
Spencer rubs his nose on his sleeve. Fuck sanitation right now; he’s about to go through it. The snot is evident. See how it shines, indeed. “Is he really singing about roadkill?”
“Yep.” You sniffle in return as you lay your head on his back.
“Fuck.”
“I know.”
“How does he do it?”
“That I don’t know.” You held Spencer as he let the music hit him. Taking moments to turn from the food to wipe his tears.

Imagine You couldn’t save everyone on the last hunt, and Dean is there for you.
You and the boys had been tailing this Shtriga for two weeks. You would get close to it, then it would escape, and then it would hop somewhere different. It has already put a total of 14 kids in the hospital, and you were hoping it would be greedy and try to get one more kid before it disappeared again for who knows how long. It was now in a small town and had already taken the younger sibling of two girls, and you are betting it would be going after the oldest tonight.
At the motel room, you, Dean, and Sam were finishing up packing the gear you wanted to take and going over the plan one more time. You were acting as a detective earlier that day and were able to set a camera up in the girl’s room. You three would sneak in and wait for the Shtriga to come and then kill it before it could escape again. Everyone was on edge; this thing has been escaping you guys for the past two weeks, but everyone is determined not to let it get away this time.
“You okay?” Dean asks as you look out the motel window, lost in your thoughts as they load up the car. You turned to your boyfriend of just about six months and smiled at him.
“I’m good; I just really want to get this son of a bitch and go home.” Dean came over and wrapped his arms around you and then gave you a quick kiss on the lips, which you returned to him immediately. You wrapped your arms around his neck as he hugged you.
“We will get him, and then 15 kids will wake up, and we will get to celebrate a job well done.” You smiled at him before Sam coughed and muttered, “We are good to go.” You giggled and kissed Dean one more time before hurrying out to the Impala after Sam.
Hours after you guys arrived at the house, you finally noticed movement in the window. You hit Dean softly on the arm and pointed to where you were seeing the Shtriga. All three of you took the safety off of your guns and were waiting for it to start feeding. Your heart was beating, and nerves were beginning to kick in. There was an 11-year-old girl in the room, and her safety was a top priority. Your job was to get to her while Sam and Dean would shoot at the Shtriga. You would have to crawl quickly, but you would be able to make sure she stayed down and out of harm's way.
Dean squeezed your hand before letting go and slowly standing up, and you and Sam followed suit. You were the first to go in that way. You didn’t have these two men blocking you from getting to the girl. You three watched as the Shtriga began feeding.
“Now, now!” Dean whispered and yelled. You hustled to the door, slammed it open, and quickly dropped to the floor to get to the girl. The Shtriga looked up as Sam and Dean let off rounds. The girl screamed, and you pulled her down to the ground with you.
“It’s okay; I’m going to get you out of here.” You say to the shaking girl. “I need you to stay low to the ground and crawl with me, okay?” The girl crying nodded, and you two began to make your way across the room. Something grabbed your ankle and pulled you back; you let out a little scream and tried to turn to face what was pulling you.
“Y/N!” Dean yelled. You tried to kick at the Shtriga, but it wouldn’t let go of you. It grabbed your shirt and flew you against the wall. Your vision got hazy as you hit your head. You heard the little girl scream for her dad while you tried to stand up. Between trying to focus your vision back, you see Dean on the other side of the room groaning, holding his side, and Sam knocked out by the door. You see the Shtriga quickly move towards the little girl, pin her down, and start to retake her life force. You groan and try to get up quickly.
You hear a new voice. “Hey! Get off my daughter!” The dad comes in, trying to push the Shtriga off of his daughter, who takes hold of his shirt and flings him into the other room. You hear a bunch of clattering and hope the dad is okay.
On your feet, you yell for the Shtriga gun already raised. “Hey, bitch!” You yell. The Shtriga slightly turns towards you, still feeding on the girl. You shoot. The Shtriga’s head jerks back as you shoot straight in the forehead, and it stumbles away from the girl and falls on its back on the floor. You run to the girl and immediately put your fingers to her neck, trying to find a pulse. It’s faint. You let out a shaky breath; she is safe. You look up to Dean to celebrate this, but he isn’t in the room. You look around frantically, thinking something happened that you missed, but you catch a glimpse of him in the other room. He is kneeling by the girl's father. A pit forms in your stomach. He looks up and makes eye contact with you, then shakes his head. Fuck.
The ride back to the hotel room was quiet. The death of the father weighs on everyone. For you, you take it personally more than the boys. It was your job to get the girl to safety. If you did your job and got her out of the room like you were supposed to, then there was no reason for the dad to be there. He would be holding his little girl right now instead of a paramedic trying to tell her that her dad is never coming back. Were you being irrational with yourself? Of course. But this is what you do. You take it personally when you can’t save everyone- especially families. Dean’s jaw was clenched the entire time back to the motel; you knew he was upset. You couldn't guess whether he was upset at you or the hunt in general, but if you were him, you would be mad at you, too. You messed this up; you couldn’t do the one thing you were supposed to do, and a father paid the price. Sam kept glancing at Dean and you. He was upset, but he knows how you and Dean are when a hunt is not perfect. You either take it out on each other or yourselves. Sometimes both.  It was one of the many things you had in common, but this trait was the most toxic one you two shared. He was waiting for the bomb to blow because the fuse had already been set.
Dean got out of the Impala quickly and quietly. Sam waited a second to see if you would do the same, but when you didn’t, he turned around to face you.
“Do you want to talk about it?” He asked you. You looked up at him.
“No, Sammy, I’m good.” He knew arguing with you would get nowhere, so he just nodded his head and got out. You sat there for a few minutes alone in silence, letting the demons take over your thoughts about how you fucked this up. It was your fault that family is torn apart now and that their lives are changed for the worse because you couldn’t manage to kick an old hag’s hand off of your ankle. You tilted your head back, not daring to let one tear fall, and let out a shaky breath. You closed your eyes, trying to regulate yourself, when the back door on the other side of the impala opened. You smelt him before he was even in the car.
Dean slid in the back and looked at you. There was tension as you both waited to see if this would be a conversation or an argument. You made the first move.
“I fucked up, I know.” You said, finally looking over at him. His gaze on you was intense as if he were trying to read you to figure out what he needed to be and do at that moment. When you said that, his gaze softened, and his shoulders relaxed.
“Sweetheart, this isn’t on you.” He said.
“It was my job to get her out of there. If I had done my job right, the dad would have never come into that room,” you said.
“You don’t know that; he could have come back in there to try to take care of the three intruders in his house for all we know. He was protecting his child, something any good father would do.” You looked out the window and mumbled.
“It’s our job to protect them.” Dean grabbed your hand, and when you didn’t pull away, he laced your fingers together. You looked back over at him, tears threatening to spill, but you'll be damned if you are weak right now; you don’t deserve it.
“I know I’m a hypocrite saying this because I do the same thing,” Dean started, “but we can't save everyone; you did everything that you could do at that moment, and when you didn’t get up at first, I was scared for a moment that you hit your head a little too hard, and I lost concentration on what we were there for. My only thought was to get to you and ensure you were okay. I could have grabbed the girl and taken her out, but in my moment of weakness, it grabbed me and threw me. I am as much to blame for that father as you and Sam. We take this blame together, learn from it, and move on. You are a damn good hunter, but it's insanity to think that we can save everyone from everything.”
You let one tear slip, then another, then another, until you were full-on crying but not daring to make a sound.
“Oh, baby,” Dean said, pulling you to him. He twisted himself on the seat so you could lean your head in his chest as he held you close. He rubbed your back with his hand as he kissed the top of your head. You two sat there in this position until the tears stopped, and the only thing you could hear was each other’s breathing. You looked up at him.
“Thank you.” You said as you wiped your runny nose with your sleeve. He gave you a soft smile.
“I know I’m not perfect, but I promise I’m always going to be here for you, sweetheart. You mean everything to me.” You leaned up and gave him a soft kiss on his lips.
“Let's go inside and get some rest, okay?” You say as you scoot away from him. He nods his head, and you both get out. You meet at the front of the Impala, where he grabs and holds your hand as you walk to the motel room.
Not every hunt will be perfect, but at least you have the best comforter to help you through it.

Clean Hands ★ Spencer Reid x reader
Warnings: lots of description of blood, death (victim of an Unsub), gn!bau!reader, no y/n, hurt/comfort?? They hold hands :)
I thought of earlier seasons Spencer while writing this.. my beloved...
Word Count: 840
Description: A case takes a sad turn and reader helps Spencer clean up.
Likes, comments, and reblogs are very much appreciated! 💜
The abandoned building the team was searching had turned out to be exactly where the Unsub was hiding out with his latest victim. Morgan and Reid found the girl first. You and Prentiss found the Unsub and caught him just before he could escape the building.
The girl, no older than seventeen, had been left to bleed out in a corner. The Unsub didn't have time to finish what he started when he heard the noise of multiple sets of footsteps and banging on doors. Reid rushed to the girl when he saw her, telling Morgan to go get help. He put pressure on the wound to try to stop the bleeding as Morgan called for medics.
"It's going to be okay, you'll be okay." He reassures the crying girl as she wanes in and out of consciousness.
Blood. So much blood. It pools on the floor and mixes with the dirt and grime that had accumulated in the building over the years it had been abandoned. It seeps into Spencer's pants as he kneels next to the girl. His hands are soaked. He yells out to Morgan, asking once again for medics.
"They'll be here soon, kid." Morgan knew what Spencer was thinking.
"We don't have time. She'll bleed out in minutes. Come help me." His voice is panicked. Morgan rushes over and helps all he can.
The medics don't arrive soon enough.
"She's gone. I'm sorry." The paramedic pulls his hand away from the girl's pulse point with a sigh. Spencer stays, frozen.
"Kid, come on. There's nothing we could do," Morgan urges him to get up. "If they'd gotten here sooner-"
"I know, come on." Spencer slowly stands up from the upsetting scene, watery eyes still locked onto the girl. As he turns away, facing the door, he sees you and Prentiss walking in. Concern immediately washes over your face as your pace quickens, heading straight towards him.
"Reid, what happened?" His mouth opens slightly, but he can't bring himself to speak. He looks over to the girl in the corner, who you hadn't noticed yet. The paramedics are already zipping her into a body bag.
"Oh." A frown forms on your face as you look over to Morgan. He motions to Spencer with his head, which you understand as "he's upset, go with him."
"Reid, there's probably towels or something in the ambulance, want to come with me? I don't mind helping you clean up." You give him a small, comforting smile. He nods, "yeah. Yes please."
When you're out of the building, the sunlight makes the contrast of the deep red blood and Spencer's pale skin and light blue shirt even more vivid. You reach one of the ambulances and ask the paramedics if they have anything that could help to clean up the blood. They hand you two small, white towels, and ask Spencer if he's hurt. He shakes his head. "No. I'm fine."
You help him clean the blood off his hands the best you can, gently wiping them off as he holds them out for you. Spencer's hands are still stained, and he'll definitely be throwing out this outfit. And taking a nice, long shower when he gets back to the hotel. But he's okay. Just a little shaken up.
The team is done at the scene, the Unsub has been taken into custody, and everyone is ready to leave. Morgan drives and Prentiss takes the passenger seat, leaving you and Spencer in the back of the SUV. He's obviously uncomfortable. He has his hands palms facing up resting on his knees. He makes sure that none of the bloody fabric of his clothes touches any part of the car.
"Reid, you okay back there?" Prentiss turns in her seat, facing him.
"Fine. Just really need a shower. Trying not to think about how many diseases can be spread by blood contact."
"Ooh. Yeah. Better not. You'll be fine." She gives him a quick smile and turns back towards the windshield.
A few minutes pass. Prentiss and Morgan are wrapped up in their own conversation, arguing about something dumb. Spencer still looks very uncomfortable. He’s staring off into space and one of his legs is bouncing up and down. You turn to him, a soft, sad look on your face. Slowly, you hold a hand out between the two of you and look at him expectantly. He looks confused.
"My hands aren't very clean. I don't want to get blood on you."
"I don't care. I can wash my hands when we get back." You reach your hand closer to him. Hesitantly, he puts his hand in yours, intertwining your fingers. You can see his face light up slightly, some of his worry dissolves with your help.
The rest of the ride back to the hotel is quiet, save for Prentiss and Morgan's bickering. They drop the both of you off. You stay to help Spencer clean up. Prentiss and Morgan head back to the police station to wrap up the case.
Thank you for reading! Tell me what you thought! <3

Too Much Labor
So this might be a little heavy, but we got sweetheart toji in his own way - inspired by Labor by Paris Paloma
Notes: F!reader, previous emotionally abusive relationship, emotional manipulation(not by Toji), healing, angst but also fluff. He’s really sweet in this and I think we all need a little sweet Toji in our lives, he’s got a temper but not around you.
Tumblr media
You swore you had a handle on everything. You told Toji, your ex roommate and best friend that you very much used to have a crush on despite knowing it was one sided, exactly that every time he said something snarky about your “shit for ass” long term boyfriend.
Including this time, when you were on the phone with him and waiting for your boyfriend to get home. He was an hour late, but it’s fine. He can’t control it if he has to work overtime.
(Whose idea was it to name their daughter ‘Overtime’?)
Of course when he did get home he was still keyed up from the work day and in a bad mood, it’s not like he didn’t love you. Sometimes he just has a rough day and feels comfortable enough to let his walls down around you.
“It’s not his fault, he just set the glass down a little too hard. He can’t help that he’s too strong for the plate either.” You were still cleaning up the glass after an argument started over what you made for dinner.
That’s how Toji found you when he rushed his way through your unlocked door. Of course that asshole left it open for anyone to barge in leaving you completely unprotected. Over the phone he heard the sound of yelling, then glass hitting the ground, the yelp you let out and the tone of the call ending; it had him out the door with his keys in under two minutes flat.
“C’mon, stand up sweetheart. Let me help.” He wasn’t supposed to call you pet names anymore, no matter how warm and safe that care made you feel.
(He didn’t mean cleaning. You were leaving that apartment tonight and not going back.)
You were shocked to see him, obviously unaware the door open in the first place. Using your sleeve to dry your eyes, letting someone see you crying would make your boyfriend look bad, you shouldn’t be such a slob and embarrass him; you went back to work. “I didn’t know you were coming over, sorry it’s a mess in here. Just give me- give me a few minutes and I’ll get you a drink and start cooking something else.”
Something else? Oh fucking hell… there was actual food, a whole meals worth if he had to guess, mixed in with the shards.
You let out a small yelp when you cut your hand on a particularly large piece of the dinner plate.
He’d treat you so much better than that prick. Toji has always been temperamental but never around you, your calming demeanor was relaxing. “You shouldn’t be cleaning, cmon now. Let me look at your hand.”
“I’ll deal with it later, ‘sfine. I don’t know when he’s coming back and I need to get started on making something el- I mean something better and get everything cleaned up. I’ll be quick I just need a few more minutes please.” You were trying so hard not to cry, your little sniffles were already embarrassing enough. Who cries over a fucking plate? You’re as pathetic as your boyfriend said you were when you cried in front of him earlier.
His heart was breaking every time you let out a shaky breath. “No, c’mere sweetheart. That’s enough.”
“You don’t understand-”
“I understand perfectly, and you’re done here. I can’t take it anymore, look what he’s doing to you!” He had to take a deep breath, he reminded himself when he saw you flinch at his tone. Fuck. “Darlin’ look around, really look around. You cooked an entire homemade meal with a fully set table and it’s on the floor. You hurt yourself on the glass, the food is still hot enough to burn your little hands too; I know it is. You do everything for him, and what does he ever do for you? How does he show he appreciates you? He checks your phone every month to make sure you’re not spending too much time talking to other people. Think about how long this has been going on, our conversations don’t last longer than twenty minutes and you haven’t hung out with me in person in months, much less your other friends.”
“I’m sorry, I know I’ve been a really bad friend but I’m really busy. I’ll try to make more time in the future…” you were losing your grip, the tiny grip you had, on your emotions.
“No no no, you didn’t do anything wrong here. It’s not about that, you haven’t been anywhere without him in ages, have you? You quit your job, how are you so busy if you’re not working?” He managed to pull you up and get you into a dining room chair so he could kneel in front of you. Your tears were gut wrenching. Toji was going to murder that fucker, he deserved to be ripped apart limb from limb for hurting someone as sweet as you. He squashed the impulse down (for now), you were a priority.
“It’s dangerous for someone like me to walk out in the world on my own… and he likes spending time with me so…”
Toji already knew he was about to hate whatever answer you were going to give him. “What do you mean ‘someone like you’?”
“‘M weak and a little- a little oblivious so it’s not safe.”
“Nope. You’re done here. You’re leaving right now. You deserve so much better than this. Someone that loves you would never treat you like this.” I would never treat you like this… it was a selfish thought that would be on the very back burner. That’s not what you needed right now.
“I can’t, he’s gonna be mad at me! I’ll try and hang out with you later!” Your emotions burst forward from the flimsy dam. Full on sobs. It was the loneliness, the fear of always being wrong and not wanting to be a burden on your boyfriend and you wanted things to feel the way they did when you first started dating. That’s when it felt like he actually loved you, you just had to try harder according to him and you were! You really really were!
The stream of thought was interrupted by Toji wrapping his arms around you. It’d been so long since you had one of his hugs and it made you break down into a puddle. Your boyfriend didn’t like when you were friendly with other guys and the boundary you put in place hurt more than you thought it had. “I’m sorry for crying on you.” You managed to get out through your shudders.
“Nothin’ to be sorry for sweetheart. You got a suitcase?”
You nodded and let him wipe your tears for you. “My stuff should be able to fit in one big one.”
“Good. Let’s check out your hand and get you packed up, make sure your phone is synced fully to the cloud and factory reset it, you’re not taking that one with you.”
“Toji I don’t have any money or a place to go, and I need a job to have any money at all-”
“What? No, baby you’re coming home with me. Where you belong.”
You started crying all over again, leading to another hug while you rested your head on his shoulder. “Alright, you’re okay, I gotcha. Clear your phone, I’m gonna wrap your hand and we’ll get outta here.”
Your phone was shut off and left on the counter only minutes later.
Your wound on your hand was tightly wrapped and all your things were ready to go. It’s not like you had a lot, your boyfriend- ex boyfriend said you had too much and you left it behind in your old room in the apartment you shared with Toji. You figured he would’ve done something with all your stuff by now.
All in the span of thirty minutes, you were leaving. It hurt to leave, but it kept on hurting more and more the longer you stayed with him.
“Leave the rest of the mess for him to clean up, let’s go. I have a fluffy blanket with your name on it.”
Toji kept your room exactly as you left it, you always had a home with him…

Congrats on 300!!! 👏💙 Since I found your blog from the Bring on the night series I think is only appropriate to send the emoji that is song related hehe so, 💐 + yoongi ♡
Congratulations again, you deserve it! I can't wait to continue reading your work uwu
Thanks for being so sweet ^^, tbh, this is one of my favorite couples in this series, I really love their interactions and how they've been acting as a couple for so long, even if none of them assimilate yet <3. This is kind of a prequel, so to speak, the song as such describes how their relationship starts and pretty much determines the kind of interactions they would have in the future (5 years later, where SIFO begins).
That said, here's the song I have to represent this couple:
Tumblr media
The new title track from BOTN's album, Shoot Me, echoed loudly in the venue they had rented for the listening party. There was smoke on the floor, lights of various colors were moving in patterns around the walls. There were dozens of people, each one more famous than the last, all dancing and singing along to the new song that all the critics were saying would be the new hit of the year. It probably would be, it was Yoongi's favorite song on the entire album, at least it would be until tonight, he didn't think he could ever listen to it again without banging his head against the table.
"Can I have a mimosa?" you smiled brightly, resting both arms on the bar. Your eyes roamed over each of the various liquors and spirits on the other side. You weren't an expert drinker, but the colors of the bottles combined with the party lights made them look quite bright and aesthetically pleasing. You watched as the bartender nodded slightly and went to get the stuff to make your drink. It was only until you followed him with your eyes that you noticed a head of what appeared to be black or blue. In the dark-haired man's hand was a small glass with a ball-shaped ice that took up most of the space. You assumed it was whiskey.
He lifted his head lazily, sighing as he kept his gaze fixed on his glass. He gave it a swirl and finished drinking what little he had left. You, for your part, were attentive to his every move and expression. There was something about his thin lips, pale face and catlike eyes that made you curious in a way you hadn't been in a long time.
"A mimosa for the lady," said the bartender from earlier, setting the glass down in front of you. You jumped in your chair at the fright he gave you. You took the glass and shot a glance at the man in the suit, who gave you an amused expression as he gestured towards the guy sitting next to you. You rolled your eyes, taking your drink in one gulp in an attempt to forget the heat that had appeared on your cheeks as you were caught watching the boy next to you.
Half of your drink disappeared in the first gulp, and as soon as you set it down on the bar you looked back up at him. He still seemed too engrossed in his own world to pay attention to you, and judging by his annoyed look, the place he was in mentally was not in the least bit pleasant.
"Bad day?" you asked close to his ear. The music was too loud and you didn't think he'd be able to hear you if you didn't move closer to him. Your smile faltered a little as you saw his face head on. He was so handsome.
"Excuse me?" he frowned slightly, tapping his fingernails against the clear glass of his glass. His eyes studied you from head to toe, your face didn't look familiar to him at all, but judging by how you acted with him, it seemed you were, or were you just like that with everyone?
"I asked you if you were having a bad day" you repeated, this time bringing your index finger right between his eyebrows. You laughed as you watched his eyes follow your finger in confusion. "Your face is crying out for help, you seriously look like you're hating life right now."
"Oh, well, maybe it's because I am hating it" he muttered under his breath, turning his full attention back to your face. Why were you acting like you were close? Did he sleep with you at one time and had forgotten about it? No, he didn't think that possible, you were too different from any other girl he had been with before, and he wasn't the type of guy who drank until he forgot what happened in the night.
He noticed how you picked up your glass and drank what was left in one gulp, letting out a satisfied gasp before turning back to him, "Then dance with me" you said in a cheerful tone, grabbing his wrist and pulling him up so you could lift him out of his chair.
"What? no, forget it, I don't dance" he shook his head quickly, trying to release himself from your grip in a not so rough and rude way. Yes, he may not be an extremely friendly person, but that didn't mean he would turn down your offer petulantly, at least not when he had three glasses of whiskey on him.
"Everybody dance, plus it helps to relax the body and up the amount of endorphins the body produces, and I can tell you need some of those," you said as you dragged him onto the dance floor. He might have been verbally refusing, but his body was putting up no opposition.
"You just made that up, didn't you?" he raised his eyebrows, pausing as you did. You turned around, giggling playfully at the sight of his expression. You could get used to seeing that shit-eating grin he was wearing right now.
"Totally, although that's probably true, you know, dancing is a type of exercise and exercise releases endorphins" you nodded firmly, taking his hands to rest them on your waist; you, for your part, rested yours on his shoulders.
Yoongi took the time to look at every feature of your face, from your big, bright eyes to the freckles on your cheeks, you were not his type at all, moreover, he preferred a girl with slanted eyes and thin lips a thousand times over someone with a puppy face. However, there was something about your cheerful gaze and bright smile that made him rethink his tastes. You had an interest in him, that much was obvious, perhaps, if you asked him to go somewhere more… private, he'd probably fuck you until your memory was fuzzy and your legs were shaky.
But you weren't asking him that, instead, you were trying to convince him to dance with you to release endorphins. This was the strangest conversation he'd had with a girl in years.
"So, what's got you like this? I mean, you look awfully attractive with your 'I hate everyone' look, but there must be a reason behind it, right?" you cocked your head to the side, watching his expression closely.
"Does that matter?" he laughed softly, settling his hands on your lower back as he pulled his body even closer to yours. "I doubt you came over to talk to me just to find out what's got me in a bad mood."
"Sure I did…sort of" you laughed softly, tangling your fingers in his hair. Now that there was a little more lighting in the place, you could tell that actually the color of her hair was navy blue. It suited him quite well.
"So you didn't talk to me just because you wanted us to fuck?" he whispered against your neck, brushing your hair with his nose. A shit-eating grin appeared on his face as he noticed the way you trembled slightly at that suggestive little act.
"The thought crossed my mind, I'd be lying if I said otherwise" you pulled away just enough to see his face, smiling defiantly at him, "but the mood needed to be warmed up, and you definitely weren't cooperating with your unfriendly face."
Yoongi licked his lips, grabbing your wrist and turning around, ready to take you to one of the bathrooms that were on the premises so he could do his thing, "Well, I'm in a better mood now, why not-?" he cut off his sentence as soon as he felt you pull him hard, almost causing him to fall to the floor.
"Oh, no, don't even think about it" you laughed, hugging his waist with a big smile on your face, "right now I want to dance."
"But-".
"Nope, shut that pretty mouth of yours, honey" you pressed your finger to his lips, raising your eyebrows, "let's dance until our feet hurt, then you'll take me for a drink at the bar and, only after that, you'll take me to your car so we can fuck, because no way am I doing it in a bathroom, I don't want to get infections."
An incredulous laugh escaped Yoongi's lips. Normally he wouldn't listen to something like that, he probably wouldn't even have let himself be dragged to the dance floor in the first place, let alone buy a drink for someone he would only have a wild night with which he would most likely forget the next day, but how could he say no to you when you were smiling at him like that? How could he when your eyes were looking at him with the glare of the lights reflected in them?
"Do you want to release enough endorphin before we have sex?" he said in a teasing tone, smiling involuntarily as he watched your expression get even brighter, if that was even possible.
"Totally, I think we're starting to get along…"
"Yoongi" he replied almost instantly, waiting for you to tell him your name in return.
"Y/N" you took his hand, shaking it firmly, "it's a pleasure, Yoongi."
"Same here, Y/N" he replied with a smile, keeping his grip just as firm as yours.
He tried to completely ignore that it was the first time in his entire life that he was telling his real name to one of his one-night stands.

I have just had knee surgery so I am being very self indulgent… again if you don’t want to no worries at all!!!
Author's note: Omg of course!!! Agh, I'm so excited, this is my first time responding to a request, so I hope you enjoy! Also, I wrote this really fckin fast, so I'm sorry if it's shit.
Guys, send in more requests! This was so fun to write!!!
Pairing: TMR Newt x reader
Warnings: mentions of suicide and death, leg injury
Tumblr media
“This bloody knee!” you hissed, tossing your gardening tool to the side and pulling at your hair in frustration.
“Did you just say bloody? I must really be rubbing off on you” Newt said from above you. You gasped in surprise.
“Newt! What are you– aren’t you supposed to be talking with Alby right now?” You asked.
“Finished early. Not much to debrief today. Aren’t you supposed to be heading to lunch?”
Your boyfriend sat down beside you and picked up the tool you’d been using, toying with it as he waited for you to respond.
“I don’t think I’m gonna make it today. I’m running way, way behind. This piece of klunk knee brace won’t let me bend down to work, and Clint and Jeff refuse to let me take it off. I have to either stand straight or sit down, neither of which are fast enough to finish all this in time.”
You finished speaking with a huff, and Newt smiled beside you.
“Hey, that’s just what a brace is meant to do. You shouldn’t bend it until you’re all healed up. It’s only been a week, love.”
A week, you thought, recalling the accident that had occurred just a few days before:
“It should be all set. Just take it easy for a few weeks, y/n,” Jeff explained, helping you to stand and placing a rudimentary wooden crutch under one arm.
“And no more messing around climbing trees,” Clint warned, opening the door that led out of the med-jacks’ building where Newt waited. You nodded, but the comment stung your pride.
Earlier that morning, you had been sitting up in a tall oak tree in the deadheads. The location was morbid, you knew, but it was also quiet. A place to breathe. To think. If you sat up there long enough, it sometimes felt like the trees went on forever– like there were no walls, no maze, standing just yards away, separating you from the world beyond.
You’d been up there a while, and you knew your break would soon be over. The gardens needed tending, after all. That, and Newt would begin to worry and come looking. You knew he could handle himself, but the last thing you wanted was to see him struggle through the underbrush of the deadheads with his bad knee because of you.
You swung yourself off the branch you’d been sitting on and began making your way down the tree. As you placed your foot onto a small notch in the tree bark, the branch you held onto with your right hand snapped. You gasped, clawing at what was left of the branch, but your foot slipped, and suddenly you were falling to the side.
You let out a scream and braced yourself to hit the forest floor. Your right knee was the first part of your body to land, and it connected with a rock or a tree root– you weren’t sure. Your right shoulder slammed to the ground, though thankfully, it seemed that your knee had borne most of the brunt of the fall. Chest heaving, you slowly sat up and you tried lifting yourself off the ground. Pain surged through your leg, and a cry of agony escaped your lips. You sat back against the trunk of the tree for a moment, then tried to stand again. It was in vain– your leg couldn’t support you.
Just when you’d made your mind up to crawl back to the field where someone would see you and bring you to a med-jack, you heard a crunch of leaves nearby.
“Y/n?” Newt called frantically. When he saw you, the expression on his face made you want to disappear. His eyes were wide, and he cringed as he saw the way you held your leg. Others followed behind him. How he’d gotten here on his leg first, you didn’t know. Must’ve been the little piece of runner still left in him. He dropped down onto his knees beside you, calling out, “Bring the med-jacks, now!”
And then you wound up here, with a makeshift brace around your leg and a boyfriend that wouldn’t stop looking at you with that nauseatingly concerned expression on his face. It was all you could do not to scream in anger and humiliation.
You shook yourself out of the memory and turned away from Newt.
“I know the brace is helping. It’s just– it gets in the way. I’m so much slower than I was, so much less graceful, efficient, I feel… I feel like I just don’t operate like I used to. Like I’m supposed to. It’s so embarrassing. Like, everyone else is pulling their weight but me.”
It was quiet for a moment. Newt only watched as you clenched your fists together, but when he noticed that you were beginning to hold back tears, he reached over and rubbed your back.
“Hey, it’s alright. I understand. Sometimes I feel the same way about my own knee.”
At that, your stomach dropped, and you clapped a hand over your mouth. All the complaining you’d just done must’ve sounded so horrible– so inconsiderate– to him. You’d only been struggling for a week; his knee would trouble him for the rest of his life. And even then, he was trying to make you feel better, like always. That was what made you care so much about him. He always did what he could to make things easier for you, to comfort you, to make you happy.
“I’m so sorry,” you breathed.
“It’s okay, honestly. It’s alright.” Newt scooted closer to you and draped his arm over your shoulder. You leaned into him and took in his warmth, his earthy smell.
“Can I tell you something kind of sad?” he asked, his voice only a whisper. You didn’t know where this was going, but you nodded silently. Newt took a deep breath beside you.
“Aah, okay… you know I used to be a runner and everything, right? Before my knee?”
You nodded again, looking up at him. His brown eyes gazed down into yours with a mixture of affection and anxiety, but he continued on.
“Well, I don’t really ever talk about how I hurt my knee. It’s…” he swallowed. “it’s hard to talk about it now.” He shifted uncomfortably beside you, but you waited patiently.
“I… I really hated it here for a long time. It’s alright now, I’ve sort of made my peace with living here, in a way, but I just couldn’t take being trapped in this box. It drove me mad. One day, while I was on a run, I climbed up some of the vines and ended up on top of one of the maze walls.”
You could hear his heart beating faster now as you leaned against his chest. The next words out of his mouth were barely a whisper.
“I knew this wasn’t what I wanted. I couldn’t stand it. And I… I jumped.”
You gasped and sat up, looking into his face for more information. He only looked back at you with the most heartbreaking expression you’d ever seen on him.
“I wanted to be done. With it all. But, much to my resentment at the time, Alby found me. Dragged me back into the glade just before the doors closed. They fixed me up. I spent about a month under constant supervision from Clint and Jeff, and then I wasn’t allowed to be alone for another few weeks. Everyone thought I’d try again. I… I wanted to.
“It was even worse with my bum leg. Everything was harder, more irritating. I felt more useless every day.”
Hot tears rolled down your face. Newt brought up one hand and wiped them away with his thumb before kissing your forehead.
“I’m so sorry, Newt,” you whispered, and he pulled you in for a tight embrace.
“It’s alright, love,” he whispered back. “Things have gotten better since then. I found I was pretty good at gardening, and now, here I am. Made some new friends as well. And, of course, I met you.”
Newt pulled away and brought his hand back up to your face, resting his palm against your cheek.
“And I promise you I’m here to stay.”
You let out a quiet sob and pulled him in for a kiss. Your lips met passionately, and you ran your fingers through his dirty blond hair. He was as gentle, as loving, as always. When you pulled away, he was smiling.
“Another thing that’s changed though,” he began, “is that I’m seriously afraid of heights now. That fear extends to you. So please, love, please, I’m begging you. No more climbing trees. I almost had a heart attack when I heard you scream”
You let out a surprised laugh before responding.
“Okay, honey. Don’t worry. No more climbing trees. I promise.”
“Good,” he said with a nod. “Now– let’s go get some lunch. We’ll worry about the garden later.”

it's a scream, baby! | hyunlix
chapter six: basic instinct
words: 2.31k // warnings: cursing, crying, mentions of a knife
OFFICIAL GHOSTFACE KILL COUNT: 003
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“okay, (y/n), i’m gonna need you to put the knife down, yeah?” chan pleaded, jeongin scrambling off of his lap as he moved to get off the bed with his hands in the air. “what’s going on?”
and all of a sudden, it was like there was no more oxygen in the room. (y/n)’s heart was thumping in a way that felt too fast for her chest, breath coming out in short, hot pants. tears were falling from her eyes, thick and salty and she dropped the knife to the floor with a clang.
“channie– innie–” was all she could squeeze out before she fell into his arms, the older male bringing her to sit on the bed next to jeongin.
it took a while to calm her down, and even after her breathing had calmed and the tears had stopped, the small trembles across her body still persisted. in all honesty, she felt silly. she didn’t mean to interrupt chan and jeongin - although that was a can of worms to be opened another time.
“thought someone had broken in. sorry for scaring you…” (y/n) mumbled, fiddling with her fingers when she felt chan get ready to talk - she knew what he was going to say anyway. “i… i got a text earlier. a private number– and it really scared me.”
“why didn’t you say anything?” jeongin pushed lightly, pulling (y/n) into a hug. “what did it say?”
opting to instead just show them the message rather than put herself through explaining it, (y/n) felt smaller than she ever had. did she really just let a stupid anonymous message cause her to nearly maim one of her best friends? that’s so stupid.
“i just– i thought it was a prank. i thought it was stupid to worry you guys.”
“i get that,” chan sighed. “but at the moment, we can’t take any risks, okay? tell us straight away if this happens again.”
she nodded, before lifting herself up to go back to bed - much to the surprise of the two boys next to her.
“where are you going? you can stay here with us tonight if you want.” jeongin offered, the worry clear on his features, but (y/n) shook her head.
“honestly, i need to sleep. sorry for interrupting you guys.” she smiled, waving before she left the room.
much to her amusement - which she desperately needed in that moment, she managed to catch the way both boys’ faces flushed scarlet as she closed the door.
—-------------------------------------------------
when she woke up that morning, (y/n) could’ve honestly sworn she’d had the best night sleep ever. until she felt how damp her pillow was, how swollen her face was, and reality came crashing back down on her.
it had only been a few days since heejin was murdered, yet everything was falling in flames and crashing around them. woodsboro was on the verge of falling apart. three young women had all been murdered in the supposed safety of their own homes, and the police had no leads.
how was anyone supposed to feel safe anymore?
when a notification dinged on her phone, (y/n) scooped it up and saw that she had received an email from the university - what the fuck? it was a list of guidelines and rules set in place to ensure the safety and security of all students.
all evening classes were canceled until further notice, and all morning and afternoon classes could be canceled if the professor deemed fit. all students living on campus would have security cameras fitting in communal areas of their dormitories, as well as camera doorbells.
but it just seemed to get worse, or better depending on how you looked at it. no one was to go out alone - at least in pairs and groups of three. students were recommended to get their groceries through doorstep delivery. the campus was practically shutting down.
but something about the wording was off. something felt weird about it, and she just prayed that this wasn’t going to backfire or turn into something else.
pulling herself out of the comfort of her duvet, she padded down the hallway to jeongin’s room, knocking on the door softly. she opened it after she’d heard a soft voice telling her to come in, and was greeted with chan and jeongin playing xbox together quietly.
“sorry, did we wake you? i told him to stop yelling at the tv.” jeongin smiled, ushering (y/n) in where she sat on the edge of the bed cross-legged.
“did either of you get that email from the principal? all the new rules and shit.” deep down she had an inkling of the answer, but hoped she was wrong. her suspicions were confirmed when chan and jeongin looked at her confused, simultaneously pulling out their phones to refresh their emails.
when they looked at one another and shook their heads, (y/n) scoffed. this was so typical. the principal - a misogynistic, homophobic dirtbag making it seem like women are damsels in distress. while 9y/n) could agree that women clearly needed to more careful than men, giving the current targets of the killer, but forcing them to become hermits while the male student body could roam free was unfair.
she could almost 100% guarantee the principal - and most woodsboro residents - were set on the idea of the killer being a man. which was in no way a guaranteed fact - the killer could easily be a woman. aileen wuornos, myra hindley, amelia dyer, they could all do it so what was stopping a girl from woodsboro from being capable of horrors like this. not that it was a nice thought, but (y/n) was a true crime fanatic at heart and always found it interesting to see how sexism was rooted even in the most evil of actions.
given that her point had been proven, she left chan and jeongin to carry on “gaming” as they claimed to be doing, so she could get herself ready for the day. it was finally the weekend,so the guys and herself had planned to go and visit jisung’s dorm to spend the day together as well as say goodbye to yeji.
thinking about her friend made (y/n) slightly sad, that she wouldn’t have her closest female buddy by her side on campus anymore. but honestly, she completely sympathized with yeji’s decision to move back home for the rest of the academic year. the trauma she had endured was enough to send anyone over the edge and it just wasn’t fair to keep her on campus.
she was also aware that jisung and yeji were also very capable and willing to make another go of things, and so yeji’s departure would be hard on her best friend too. but at least they had each other - jisung was always key to (y/n) maintaining her sanity while being a university student.
chan, jeongin and herself arrived at jisung’s dorm at about 1pm - enough time to relax and just be with one another before yeji’s arrived to say her goodbye’s at 6pm. and honestly, it was nice to just normal again for a minute - sitting on her friend’s couch and gossiping like normal young adults did. she found out she was the last in the group to learn of chan and jeongin’s arrangement - something she playfully attacked them for. she felt as this as occurring in her own home, she had a right to know, with a smile on her face as chan blushed and jeongin threw a cushion at her.
they eventually discussed what the new rules would mean for their weekly movie nights and biweekly games nights, deciding that it would be best to hold them all at (y/n)’s dorm for the foreseeable future - purely so she wouldn’t get in trouble if caught by campus security, they claimed, but (y/n) knew that wasn’t the case.
as much as she refuted the idea, hating the silly little girl who needs saving narrative that movies like this seemed to force on its female characters, she also eventually agreed to the guy's protests that she wouldn’t ever be alone anymore. not at home, not between classes.
although, she managed to beat down jisung’s argument of having someone stay in her room with her eventually, but even the boys agreed with her so she knew she’d win that fight for a glimpse of freedom.
by the time 6pm rolled around, anyone could see that jisung and (y/n) were already on the verge of crying. they’d miss yeji more than anyone else on campus, even if others tried to refute that fact.
a soft knock on the front door threw the group out of their trance, (y/n) beating everyone to it as she sprinted to the door, throwing it open. and there stood yeji - hair scraped back, eyes swollen and puffy, much more pale than (y/n) had ever seen her/ not even freshers flu fucked her up this bad, but (y/n) knew that’s what trauma could do to a person.
“my yej–” (y/n) pulled the other girl into a hug, which was gratefully reciprocated, before she dragged her to an empty bedroom to have their goodbyes in private.
“you’ll message me whenever you can, yah? and make sure you keep looking after yourself. i need you in tip-top condition for when we go away over summer, angel.” (y/n) tried to lighten the mood as much as she could, but to no avail. it was almost like yeji was a shell of the girl she used to be.
the pair spent their time just curled in each other's arms. really, they only had each other to turn to when in need of feminine advice. for (y/n), the boys were never any help so she leaned on yeji like a sister, and she supposed that yeji really was her chosen sister. as for yeji, sure she had her old roommate, but she truly felt like she found a part of herself in (y/n), and now she’d lost nari, outside of her family her friend was all she had.
as hard as it was to pull away and say goodbye for now, they both knew it was for the best. they’d always find their way back to one another - but yeji staying on campus would be unfair to herself and she needed an escape.
when (y/n) left the room, fighting to keep her tears contained, jisung pulled her into a tight hug.
“how is she?” he whispered, as if speaking louder would break the dorm from the bottom up, and (y/n) shrugged.
“she’s a mess, ji. she needs you. don’t worry about me, go see her.”
so jisung slowly walked into the bedroom, his heart breaking at yeji’s disheveled form. his soul yearned for her, for the happy-go-lucky and bubbly girl he fell in love with, although he’d love he regardless, and prayed for her sake that she could get through this.
crouching on the floor opposite where she sat, he gently took her hands in his, warming at the way she smiled at him so softly. that was the girl he knew. the girl who was still shy after knowing everything about him, and how much he’d do for her. the girl who felt she wasn’t worthy of being loved by someone she called “so perfect”, even though jisung knew it was an honor to be able to call her his girl.
he really did try hard to combat the lump in his throat, because he knew he had to be strong for yeji, but it was so, so difficult. all he wanted to do was wrap his arms around her and keep her forever, but he knew that wasn’t possible. so instead, he opted for the next best thing. he held her hands, and comforted her like he knew she needed.
they sat and talked for a while, just keeping the conversation light and steered away from goodbyes as long as possible. they discussed their respective summer plans, jisung boldly stating that he’d be taking the dark-haired girl on as many dates as she’d allow him to.
eventually, she migrated from the bed and they stayed holding each other in a ball on the floor - in their own little world, until yeji’s phone beeped, signaling that her sister was back to take her home.
she knew it would hurt too much to say another goodbye to (y/n), and her other friends, so she pleaded with jisung to just get her out of the apartment as quickly as possible. of course, he obliged, wanting nothing more than to keep those tears from falling down her pretty face.
once he had got her outside, politely waving to her sister in the car, he turned back to yeji with a sad smile on his face.
“text me when you’re home, okay? and i’ll come to visit you as much as you want. it’s all going to be okay, yej.”
“i know ji,” she sniffled, arms crossed as if protecting herself from the crashing waves of emotion overwhelming her. “just… look after yourself. and (y/n). and the guys. i can’t lose you guys too.”
her voice trailed off at the end, jisung pulling her into a tight hug and kissing the top of her head in a comforting manner. he stayed right where he was stood as she pulled away and got into the car. he didn’t dare move until the car had left his field of vision, just in case it was the last time he ever saw her.
finally letting the tears fall down his face, he took his time going back into the dorm and back to the group. he wouldn’t let anything else happen to his friends. he couldn’t.

Scumtober - Day 9 (Sewn Together)
Maria x Male!reader
Tumblr media
Its been hours since you've been tossed into the room by the man with the red pyramid for a head.
You spent a good while banging on the door, yelling to be let out, only to hear nothing in response. You then spent a few more crying in the corner, knees huddled to your chest as you regretted ever setting foot in this town.
At least the padded floor and walls were comfy.
You aren't sure where you are. From what you could tell, triangle head dragged you to a hospital of sorts, but this room felt more 'asylum'. You didn't know if the beast was coming back or not, and to be honest, you didn't know which option you'd prefer.
Your hands run over your chest, the scars are still there, and they always will be.
After a few minutes of introspection, the silence is broken by muffled voices outside the room, probably at the end of the hallway.
At first, you weren't sure if it was just another hallucination or not.
But as you listen closer, straining your ears against the thick steel door, you realize it wasn't.
People are talking.
You leap to your feet and rush towards the metal door, pounding on it frantically. "Hey! Is anyone there?! Let me out!!!"
Within seconds, you hear hurried footsteps rushing towards the door, followed by the metallic click of keys jangling around in someone's hands. You take a step back as you hear the key clank around in the keyhole before it clicks in place.
As soon as the door opens, you immediately recognize the figure standing in the doorway.
"James?" you breathe out a sigh of relief, eyes starting to prick with tears.
His expression mirrors yours as they change from confusion and then to surprise.
Your legs shake as you practically collapse into his open arms, letting out a small whimper against his chest as you try to steady yourself.
Despite his initial shock, James catches you easily, wrapping his arms around your back. He doesn't really know what to do, so he settles for patting you gently.
After a brief moment of hesitation, he gently pushes you back, holding you at arm's length as he scans your face with concern etched across every inch of his features. He looks like he's trying to figure out if you're a hallucination or not.
"(Y/N), what are you doing here?" he asks, sounding confused.
You tell him everything that happened from the last time you spoke to each other before splitting ways, you went into the town to look for your own answers and ended up encountering the creature with the pyramid head.
James tenses at the mention of 'pyramid head', a strange look crossing his face briefly before disappearing just as quickly.
"You shouldn't wander off alone," he says quietly. "This place isn't safe...for anyone."
You sheepishly nod in agreement, rubbing your sore wrist where the monster had grabbed you earlier. "I didn't want to slow you down," you mumble, staring at the ground.
"Hasn't stopped me."
The sudden voice from behind James startled you, causing you to step back abruptly from him. You must have been way too busy talking to have noticed her. You peek over James' shoulder, taking a look at the lady. She notices and gives you a smile before raising her arms with a shake that says, "yes, I'm real".
Short blond hair, blue eyes, and an outfit that seemed a bit underclothed for the cold air of the town.
She looked familiar...
"This is my wife... Her name is Mary. Have you seen her?" You look over the photo, raking your thoughts, but he's the only person you've met so far here.
"No I haven't...sorry"
You blink in surprise before looking back at James, who seemed unfazed by the woman.
"Oh, uh...her name is Maria," he introduces her politely, gesturing towards her.
"Maria?" you repeat her name softly, testing it out on your tongue.
"That's right," she confirms, grinning at you. Her smile seemed genuine, but there was something oddly unsettling about it that you couldn't quite place.
Maybe this town was just getting to you.
"And you are?" Maria asks, raising an eyebrow curiously at you.
"(Y/N)… (Y/N) (L/N)," you reply automatically, saying your full name aloud for the first time in ages. It sounded strange coming from your mouth, unfamiliar somehow.
Like it didn't belong to you.
She grins wider at you. "Well, nice to meet you."
Maria extends her hand for a handshake, smirking slightly as she watches you contemplate whether or not to accept it.
Are handshakes appropriate in a hellhole like this?
Finally, you relent and grasp her hand firmly in yours, shaking it once before dropping it back to your side. She chuckles lightly under her breath.
James glances between you and the padded room that you were trapped in for God knows how long before pinning you with a serious gaze.
"You're coming with us," he says firmly, his tone lowering slightly as he tries to project confidence that he doesn't truly feel inside. It comes off as more awkward than intimidating, but he was trying his best.
You open your mouth to protest, trying to come up with some sort of excuse why you shouldn't tag along, but ultimately failing as you close it back shut with a huff.
"Fine…" you mutter begrudgingly, folding your arms defensively over your chest.
He smiles faintly at you before gesturing for you to follow after him and Maria. "Good."

this place is such great motivation for anyone trying to move the fuck away from hibernation
chapter 6: spend the rest of my life with what could have been rated e | start at the beginning on AO3 Chapter 1 / Chapter 2 / Chapter 3 / Chapter 4 / Chapter 5
🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰🧰
The next few days with Steve went by too quickly for Eddie to even process everything he was feeling.
Steve had other plans while he was there and Eddie still had to work, so they didn’t spend all their time together despite how badly they both wanted to. Life felt normal, but with an undercurrent of incoming change.
Every moment they had together was cherished, though. Mia hogged quite a bit of Steve’s attention, but Steve didn’t seem to mind. He was constantly enthralled by her, sitting on the floor to play with whatever toy she wanted, singing and dancing along to her favorite songs, keeping her busy while Eddie made dinner or a bottle for her.
Eddie watched as Mia stole Steve’s heart as much as Steve had stolen theirs.
On the day Steve left, Mia woke up cranky, almost like she knew that it wouldn’t be a good day.
She immediately started asking for “Mama”, and Eddie was doing his best not to cry about how little time they would have before Steve had to go back home.
He was having breakfast with the Hendersons and Max, then stopping to say bye to the Sinclairs and Wheelers before making his way over. Eddie had arranged for the morning off, agreeing to close up to make up for his late arrival.
Mia wouldn’t let Eddie set her down in her chair or on her mat, and he’d barely slept the night before, and he was trying to stay calm and not panic about Steve leaving again.
This time was different, he had to keep reminding himself of that.
When Steve finally showed up, Eddie immediately handed Mia to him and sat down on the couch, head in his hands.
He felt the couch sink next to him and listened to Steve whispering to Mia.
“What did you do to him, princess? It’s only 10:30 in the morning and he looks like he wants to go to bed.” Steve’s hand fell on his knee, squeezing once in silent comfort. “You alright, baby?”
Eddie nodded, and he already knew Steve wouldn’t believe him, but he didn’t really feel like going into everything now and ruining their last few minutes together for a while.
“Sorry, sweetheart.” Eddie looked up and over to where Mia was curled against Steve’s chest, her face buried against his neck. He felt a sting behind his eyes as he fought tears.
How was he supposed to do this? Sure, things were different this time and eventually, he’d be with Steve again. But right now, that felt too far away.
“It’s just a month and then we’ll see each other again, right? We can do a month,” Steve said softly, rubbing his hand across Eddie’s leg. “And then soon enough you both will get to be with me all the time.”
“Yeah,” Eddie took a deep breath. “I wish it could be now.”
“I know, love. I know.”
They stared at each other for a moment before Mia let out a small snore and disrupted them.
“Is she asleep?” Steve whispered, eyes wide. “How?”
“Neither of us slept great last night and we both got up earlier than we should’ve,” Eddie shrugged, placing his hand on Steve’s.
“Is it the teething again?” Steve kissed the side of her head. “I thought that got better once the tooth popped through the gums.”
“I think we both just don’t want you to go.”
The tears Eddie fought all morning finally fell, comfort in knowing Mia was asleep and wouldn’t see the only reason he decided to let it happen. He knew it would probably happen again tonight when she was in bed, and he was in bed wishing Steve was in his arms.
“Oh, baby,” Steve sighed, pulling Eddie against his side so he could rest his head on his the shoulder not occupied by Mia. “If I could bring you both with me right now, I would. I’d pack your bags myself.”
“Maybe I could talk to Rick, see if he needs anything sold. If I get some extra income-“
“Absolutely not.” Steve’s tone was harsh, but his hand on Eddie’s shoulder was still light, thumb tracing along his shirt. “What would happen to Mia if you got caught? Hopper doesn’t have the pull needed to get you off a felony drug charge.”
“I know. I wouldn’t do it,” Eddie didn’t even know why he suggested it. Wayne would kill him, and there was way too much of a chance that he would get caught and he couldn’t do that to Mia. “I just don’t wanna be without you.”
“It’s just for a bit, right? You’re gonna visit soon enough and then you’re gonna make the move soon after that.” Steve kissed the top of his head. “And we’ll talk on the phone so much, you may get sick of me.”
“I doubt that,” Eddie pouted.
“Are you pouting? Oh my god, you’re pouting!” Steve tried to hide his laugh, but ended up letting out a strangled noise that made Mia squirm against him. “I don’t even have to see your face to know it looks exactly like Mia did last night when you tried to give her the green bean baby food instead of the carrot.”
“Shut up, that’s not what I look like.”
Steve nudged him off of his shoulder and looked down at him. “Uh huh. Just as I suspected. Adorable.”
Eddie rolled his eyes, but smiled, didn’t want to tarnish their last few minutes with a bad attitude.
“I’m gonna go set her in her crib and be right back.”
Eddie nodded and watched Steve slowly get up and walk towards their bedroom. He could hear him whispering, but Mia didn’t wake up, content in Steve’s arms.
When she woke up, she’d be a nightmare. Hopefully, Wayne wouldn’t hate him too much for it.
Steve was wiping his eyes when he came back, not looking at Eddie as he straddled his lap and wrapped his arms around his neck. He let out a shaky breath.
“I don’t wanna leave,” Steve whispered against his neck. “Wanna stay right here in your lap and kiss you whenever I want.”
“What about my job?” Eddie smiled to himself, full of sadness, but trying his best to stay strong for just a little longer. “Mia’s diapers won’t pay for themselves.”
“I dunno, maybe we could potty train her.”
“From the couch? At her age?” Eddie laughed. “I love you.”
Steve pulled back and looked at Eddie. “I love you, too. I’m waiting for you. Don’t get in your head, okay? Promise me.”
Steve knew him well. He’d already been in his head enough, and once he was alone, he knew he’d be back in it, spiraling about how much he missed Steve and how much Steve probably didn’t miss him.
“I’m gonna miss you,” Steve said fiercely, as if Eddie’d spoken the last part out loud. “It’s gonna be awful not having you with me. But I’m gonna focus on the endgame. I’m gonna get Mia’s room ready and look for open positions you can take nearby and start babyproofing the apartment. Robin already bought stuff for the cabinets because apparently our apartment is a death trap to a baby.”
“Robin said that?” Eddie had to admit, it was weird thinking about Robin panicking about his child. She really wasn’t the motherly type, and he didn’t think she’d be super chill about having them in her home.
“She’s actually pretty excited. She said she’s never changing a diaper, though.”
Eddie barked out a laugh. “I wouldn’t have expected her to. That’ll be your job.”
He expected Steve to laugh it off, maybe joke about changing his mind. He didn’t expect him to smile fondly and nod.
“Yeah, that can be my job. Whatever you want me to do, I’m happy to do. I’m in it for the good and the not as good.”
Eddie let out a sob. “You’re ridiculous.”
It was soft, endeared.
So was the look Steve gave him in return.
“I wanna be there for both of you, whatever you need, or want. I’ll do it.” Steve kissed him softly. “I’ll always do it.”
Their lips met again, this time harder, a physical reminder that the clock was ticking and Steve had to go. Eddie let himself cry, felt Steve’s tears mix with his as they tried to devour each other, neither wanting to separate for anything, not even breaths.
Eddie couldn’t let him go, couldn’t watch him walk out the door. He knew it was cowardly, but he needed Steve to be strong for them both and be the first to step away.
Luckily, Steve did.
He pulled away, but kept his eyes closed and ran his hands down Eddie’s arms. “If I don’t look at you, it won’t hurt so much, right?”
Eddie huffed, unsure if he was actually laughing or just holding back another sob. “I don’t know, I kinda wanna look at you every possible second.”
Steve’s eyes opened at that, tears pooling and making his eyes that much prettier. “I have to go.”
“I know, sweetheart.”
“But you know it’s not like last time.”
“I know.”
“And you know I love you and I love Mia and I’m not abandoning you and I will call you as soon as I’m home and probably every day for the next month.”
Eddie smiled, nodded. “I know.”
Steve leaned in, kissed the corner of his mouth, smiled against his skin. “Gonna miss you every second.”
Eddie closed his eyes and nodded. “Already miss you.”
Steve backed away.
He was being strong for them both, had to be. Eddie wasn’t gonna be able to push him out the door.
He opened the door and Eddie pretended not to see the tears falling, pretended the sob he heard come from Steve was just a laugh that got caught in his throat.
Eddie’s vision blurred as Steve stepped out of the doorway.
“Steve?”
Steve froze and turned fully towards him. “Yeah, baby?”
“It’s just for a little bit.”
“I know.”
“I love you. Mia loves you.”
“I know.”
“Be safe driving home.”
“You’re my home.”
Eddie snorted. “That was cheesy. Call me when you can so I know you’re okay.”
“Okay. Love you.”
“Love you.”
Steve closed the door and Eddie dropped to the couch, letting out another sob.
He listened as Steve’s car started and idled for a minute, then two. A part of Eddie wanted him to shut his car off and come running back inside, tell him that he wouldn’t leave without them and they’d figure it out. Eddie would pack their things and he’d follow Steve back to his apartment, Mia babbling in the backseat. He’d find a job immediately and everything would be perfect.
But the reality sunk in as he heard Steve’s car backing out of the gravel drive. He had to have a real plan, one that kept him and Mia safe and fed and cared for, one that he wouldn’t regret going through with.
He stood up, wiped his eyes, and got ready for work.
- - - - - - -
Steve called. Of course, he called.
He called almost the moment he got through his own door, which was conveniently when Mia had realized that he wasn’t coming over.
She was too young to understand why she could hear him but not see him, but it was better than nothing.
He called every night at roughly the same time, managed to work it out that he could take his 15 minute breaks at work at roughly that time when he had a shift. He’d apparently told his boss all about Eddie and Mia, all about their plans, and his boss was very happy for them.
They had to fit a lot in in such a short call, and Steve always wanted to reserve at least a couple minutes for Mia, telling her silly stories and trying to have a conversation with someone who couldn’t say anything except “mama” and make babbling noises. Eddie found it endearing as hell and wouldn’t dream of interrupting them.
Every couple of nights, Steve would call Eddie when he got home from his shift, after Mia was in bed and Wayne was either asleep or at work.
Eddie would pull the phone into the bathroom, keeping the door cracked so it wouldn’t damage the cord. He would usually try to whisper whatever filthy words he could while Steve stripped his cock and whimpered into the phone. Sometimes it didn’t take much, sometimes Steve begged him to take it slow. Eddie’s hand always found its way to his own cock on those nights, savoring every whine and moan Steve let out as Eddie talked about everything he’d do when he got his hands on Steve.
Wayne caught on after a few times, giving him a gentle reminder that the noise from the bathroom carries directly across the hall to his room and he’d just appreciate a heads up when he’s gonna be having certain discussions with Steve. Eddie blushed, nodded, let him know he’d try to keep it to the nights he was working, apologized for anything he might have heard.
He put in for a few days off to visit Steve, started preparing for what he’d need to bring for himself and Mia. He figured it might make things feel more real if he brought a few boxes full of things in preparation for the move. Wayne agreed and brought home a few boxes from the plant so he could figure out what he could do without having here for a bit.
The time passed faster than he expected it to.
Mia kept him busy, work kept him busy, and trying to figure out his and Mia’s entire future kept him very close to a crisis.
Sooner than he realized, he was shoving boxes and borrowed luggage into his van and getting ready for his drive to visit Steve.
Wayne was getting Mia changed and saying his goodbyes, insisting on giving her a talk about being on her best behavior and enjoying the big city.
Eddie knew he just wanted to try to hide any tears from him.
“All packed and ready!” Eddie called out as he entered the trailer.
“Mia’s ready to go,” Wayne said as he came around the corner holding her. She was dressed in an outfit Steve sent last week, a onesie with guitars all over it he found at a record shop not far from where he worked. It was a little big, but bigger was better when it came to baby clothes. Mia outgrew everything so quickly, he was tempted to just keep her in diapers until her growing slowed a bit. “Did you already grab her bag?”
“In the front seat.”
“And the box of diapers I left on the porch?”
“In the back.”
“You grabbed the extra formula too?”
“Wayne.” Eddie smiled at him. “I got it.”
“I know you do.” Wayne sighed and kissed Mia’s head before handing her over to him. “Just not used to you not being right here.”
“I know. We’ll be fine though, won’t we, princess? Gonna have so much fun with Mama.”
Eddie had started referring to Steve as Mama to Mia, mostly because she was so insistent on calling him that. Also, it made Steve stutter and probably blush a bright red.
“You be safe. Say hi to Steve for me,” Wayne hugged him, his fingers squeezing his shoulder tight.
“We’ll call when we get in so you know we’re safe.”
“I’ll be waitin’.”
Eddie knew he wasn’t kidding; He’d probably be sitting right by the phone all morning waiting for the call.
“You know, you could maybe invite Hop over or something to keep you busy. He’s been bored with Joyce gone to visit Jonathan. Play cards or whatever it is you old folks do in your spare time,” Eddie gave him a teasing smile, a wink, and turned to leave.
Wayne grumbled something under his breath, but Eddie left it. He wanted to get on the road.
Steve was waiting for them.
- - - - - - -
Steve had warned him that parking would probably not be an easy task when he arrived, but he hadn’t expected this.
He’d been to Chicago and Indy plenty of times in the van to know it wasn’t the easiest fit along the sides of the street, but it was always manageable. Not today.
This was the first sign.
When he finally managed to find a parking spot almost at the end of the street, he decided to leave everything except the diaper bag for now, and hopefully a spot closer to the apartment would open up later so that he could bring up the boxes and luggage.
He got Mia out of her car seat, shouldered the diaper bag, and locked up the van.
Her eyes were wide as she took in their surroundings, people walking along the sidewalk, taller buildings than she’d ever seen on both sides of them, cars honking as they drove by.
He could hear children yelling in the distance, maybe a few blocks over, and someone was dumping trash in a dumpster in the alley directly across from them.
It was damn near overstimulating for him, and he was slightly worried that it would be too much for Mia, especially after napping for most of the drive.
She let out a giggle, and then babbled while smacking her hand against his shoulder.
“Oh? You like all the noise and people? Look, that man is wearing a red coat. You see his red coat?” Eddie read once that pointing out obvious things for babies helped them understand the world better, so he made it a point to do so when they went out. Even back in Hawkins, he always made sure to point out colors and shapes, pointed to simple words on boxes, and animals when they passed them in the car. “I bet he’s nice and warm in that thing.”
Mia kept babbling as Eddie walked up the street, a bit more nervous about the amount of people walking around than he expected to be.
If it were just him, he wouldn’t mind, probably wouldn’t even notice.
But with Mia so vulnerable in his arms, all he could think about was every worse case scenario.
Before he could spiral too much, Robin yelled out to him.
“Eddie!”
“Robin!” He walked faster to close the short distance to the building she was standing in front of. “Mia, look it’s Robin!”
Mia stopped babbling and took in Robin, who seemed very nervous to be in the presence of a baby, and maybe a little nervous to be in the presence of Eddie.
“Hi, Mia.” Robin waved, which was better than what Steve said she would do: offer a handshake. “You’re actually super cute.”
Eddie snorted. “Don’t inflate her ego too much, Robbie. Steve already spends too much time hyping her up. She’s gonna actually think she’s a princess soon.”
“Wait until she sees her room,” Robin muttered, probably trying to be quiet enough for Eddie not to hear her but failing. “Steve is gonna be back any minute. He forgot to grab something at the store and had to make a quick trip. I can let you guys in, but I have to run to class.”
Eddie nodded. If he didn’t know that Robin was just a fast-paced, rambly type of person, he’d think she was trying to avoid him.
She led them through the front door - unlocked, a sinking feeling settling in Eddie’s gut - and up two flights of stairs.
“It feels like a haul at first, but it gets a lot easier going up and down,” she said as she unlocked the door to their apartment. “It’s the only real exercise I get.”
When the door opened, Eddie’s eyes zeroed in on his worst nightmare since having Mia: a balcony.
He couldn’t explain it, it’s not like he was ever anywhere that would have one, but even just the thought of her falling off the porch would send him into a panic attack. It’s just the thought of Mia falling from something, getting hurt or dying because he took his eyes off of her for one second, he couldn’t handle it.
He immediately felt his breath leave his body, his chest heaved trying to catch it, and his legs went numb. The couch was close, so he sat down, holding Mia close to him so she couldn’t possibly crawl away.
Robin didn’t notice at first, made a comment about making himself at home while she grabbed something from her room.
“Eddie?” She was standing in front of him, worried eyes searching his face while her hands hovered near Mia like she would take her if he needed. Maybe she would. Maybe she was that worried. “What’s wrong?”
“I didn’t know there was a balcony,” Eddie whispered, surprised he even had a voice at all with how terrified he was.
“Um, yeah. We don’t really use it, and it stays locked if we aren’t on it, but sometimes it’s nice to enjoy some fresh air.” She still had her hands hovering, ready to hold Mia or comfort Eddie, maybe both. “It’s locked right now, do you wanna check?”
God, Steve really lucked out with Robin Buckley, didn’t he?
He nodded and handed Mia over to her. If he wasn’t so panicked, he probably would have laughed at the looks on their faces: Robin petrified and Mia silently judging.
He walked over to see the lock in place, pushed down and pulled up on it as hard as he could, pushed against the glass to make sure it wouldn’t collapse, and sighed.
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
His heart rate was slowing down, he was able to see more of his surroundings without a haze.
“Yeah. Sorry. I just worry.”
Robin nodded, like she understood, but she probably was just humoring him. “I get it. We’ll keep it locked while you’re here, okay?”
“Yeah. Okay.”
She smiled reassuringly, and he took Mia back before things could get awkward. Mia seemed grateful, tucking her head into Eddie’s neck and curling her fists into his shirt.
“You okay if I go? I can wait if not. Being late for class wouldn’t even phase my professor. Pretty sure she’s extremely high all the time.” Robin covered her mouth. “Sorry, should I not say that stuff?”
Eddie snorted. “She’s too young for it to matter yet, it’s fine. But I’m okay. Get to class!”
“You’re awful good at that.”
“I heard it enough,” Eddie shrugged.
Mia sighed against him, like she was sick of what was happening. She remained quiet though, surprisingly shy.
“Okay, I’m heading out, then. Bye Mia!” Robin waved and booked it out the door.
Eddie sighed. “Well, princess, should we look around? Get to know the place?”
Mia moved her head back to look at him, but didn’t babble or do anything else to acknowledge him.
He decided to do it anyway, figured she would probably become more interested the more they looked around.
The shared space was small, similar to the trailer in everything being more open. The living room was basically a couch, coffee table, and small television with a table next to it for a VHS player and a record player. The VHS tapes and records were piled up next to the table.
Eddie gulped. Mia would knock those over within seconds if he set her down and turned away from her.
That was just a small thing though, they could move them to a place she couldn’t reach.
He turned and saw the dining area, smiling to himself over the highchair that was sitting in the corner, clearly used but sparkling clean like someone had scrubbed it with every cleaning product sold on shelves. The kitchen was a little cluttered, but clean, and all of the sharp objects were put away in cabinets or high enough that there was no way Mia could reach them. He tried to open the cabinet under the sink and was met with a child safety lock and the same happened when he tried to open the cabinet next to the fridge.
He let out a breath.
This would be okay. They’d clearly thought of some things and maybe just needed Eddie to figure out the other stuff. That was one of the reasons he was here, right? To find what they would need to make this work.
He opened the fridge and saw tons of Mia’s favorite fruits and vegetables. The cabinet by the fridge had a can of her formula and some of her favorite baby food flavors, along with the rice snacks and Cheerios she liked to snack on while Eddie made dinner.
Steve had clearly thought of so much, he couldn’t really blame him for forgetting about stuff that seemed relatively harmless on the floor.
He bounced Mia in his arms as he walked down the hall, passing by the first door on the left. He had no interest in going in Robin’s room, even though he was a little curious.
Maybe later.
The next door on the left was the bathroom, and Eddie was pretty sure he was gonna cry. The cabinets had the same child safety lock on them, and the toilet lid has a special latch that would require two hands to unlock it. The baby shampoo and soap that Mia used was on the side of the tub, as well as a few bath toys. There was a toothbrush for Eddie on the sink, and hair ties on a hook hanging by the basket with a hairbrush and hairspray.
There was a note on the mirror that he knew wasn’t for him, but he couldn’t help reading.
Pick up bows for Mia Crib liner? Might not need Batteries for baby moniter
Eddie sniffled, not realizing that tears had come to his eyes while reading the note.
“He loves you so much, princess.” Eddie knew Steve was giving this everything he had, and couldn’t imagine how much money he’d spent to try to make this perfect and feel like home for them. “We’re lucky.”
He heard a door close downstairs, but assumed it was just a neighbor, so he walked across the hall into what was going to be Mia’s room.
He let out a gasp at how perfect it was.
The crib was white with light pink sheets and a hand-crocheted blanket in the corner, a small stuffed rabbit in another. The wall behind the crib was painted with a mural of a castle, a dragon flying in the sky, a princess painted in front of the castle with dark curls and a bright smile. There was a rocking chair next to the crib, and a changing table across the room. He opened the top drawer to find plenty of diapers and wipes, diaper cream, and a few pairs of socks and plain onesies. The next drawer down had some more onesies, but colorful and many with cute patterns. The bottom drawer had shorts, pants, and overalls, and what looked like a couple of dresses.
There was a small bookcase, possibly even built from scraps of wood by Steve himself, in a corner, filled with a few cardboard books. He’d look at them closer later, but he already knew Steve put thought into each and every one.
The rug in the middle of the room was also crocheted, matched her blanket, and Eddie felt safe setting her down and letting her move around a bit. He saw the toybox at the same time she did and smirked.
“Go ahead, Mia girl. Those are yours to play with,” he said before sitting in the rocking chair.
He watched her scoot her way across the floor quickly, reaching into the shallow box, and pulling out a plastic key ring set just like she had at home. She’d used it more as a teething ring lately, but her excitement was palpable.
She kept pulling out toy after toy. Normally, Eddie wouldn’t let her have all of her toys out at once, wouldn’t want her to be overwhelmed, but this was a good exploration. He could put some of them away in a few minutes.
He heard the front door open and Steve call out to them.
“In Mia’s room!” Eddie yelled back.
And for some reason, that’s what did it, what made this all feel so real.
And he wasn’t entirely sure that it was all positive.
He looked up when Steve came in the room, his beaming smile lighting up the room.
Mia noticed him immediately. “Mama! Mamamamamama! Uh uh uh!” She scrunched her hands into fists and threw her arms up, rocking on her knees to try to get him to pick her up.
He gave in immediately, wouldn’t ever let her think he didn’t want to hold her.
“Princess! I missed you so much!” Steve’s voice was shaking, Eddie could hear the emotions pouring out as he planted kisses all over Mia’s head. “Do you like your room?”
“Stevie, you didn’t have to do all this,” Eddie said, tears in his eyes at how excited they both were to see each other. “This must’ve cost a fortune.”
“We thrifted most of it, and I made the blanket and rug. The bunny was a gift from my boss. I really only bought the diapers and some of the clothes. I told you I’d take care of it.”
Eddie had to let himself have this. He had to accept that Steve wasn’t doing any of this to show off, or buy their love, or make it impossible for him to leave. He was doing it because he loved them, and he wanted them to be happy and comfortable here.
Steve set Mia down, who seemed pretty content with going back to her toys after getting so much attention from Steve.
He made his way over to Eddie and leaned down, placing his hands on the armrests of the rocking chair, bracketing Eddie in.
“I missed you even more,” Steve said quietly, leaning in to peck his lips softly.
Eddie took it, wanted it to be more, but knew it couldn’t yet.
“You guys settle in okay? Hope you haven’t been here too long.”
“Nah. Just kinda walked around the place. Most of the stuff is still in the van that’s parked halfway back to Hawkins,” Eddie half-joked.
Steve frowned. “You couldn’t find parking?”
“No,” Eddie frowned. “I’ll move it later when something opens up.”
“I had to grab stuff for dinner or I would have been here when you got here. I assumed spaghetti would be okay?”
Eddie nodded. Exhaustion was settling in as he crashed from the adrenaline of…well, everything.
“You okay?” Steve asked, kissing his forehead before pulling away and looking over at Mia. “If you wanna go rest in my bed, I can watch her for a bit.”
Eddie didn’t want to waste any time he had with Steve, even if he was ready to fall asleep, but it was hard to turn down a nap in Steve’s bed.
“Okay. Wake me up to help with dinner?” Eddie yawned.
“Sure, baby.” Steve sat down on the floor next to Mia, reaching for a ring for the plastic ring toy. “Mia and I are gonna hang out and have a chat.”
Eddie made his way to Steve’s room, barely paying attention to the board hung up in the hall with polaroids and pieces of paper. He barely even noticed anything about Steve’s room other than the bed, which was surprisingly big and surprisingly soft. It smelled like Steve, and Eddie didn’t even have time to process any thoughts before he was asleep.
- - - - - -
When he woke up, he could hear music playing and Mia giggling.
A noise he loved to hear, especially when he knew that Steve was the one making her laugh.
He got up and walked to the kitchen, smiling when he saw her sitting in her high chair with some rice snacks on the tray, Steve standing at the stove stirring a pot of noodles.
“You two having fun without me?” he asked, making Steve jump.
“Scared me, Eds.” Steve smiled at him. “We’ll have even more fun now that you’re here.”
Eddie hoped that was true.
He felt out of place for some reason, like he was a guest in a life that Steve and Mia lived. He’d never quite felt like that before and something in his brain was telling him get out, to go back to Wayne and what he knows before he ends up hurt.
He did his best to ignore it though, smiling at Mia, kissing Steve on the cheek.
They had dinner like a family, and Eddie washed the dishes while Steve brought Mia to the bathroom for a bath before bed.
They both tucked her in, kissed her forehead.
Steve whispered that he was grabbing batteries for the baby monitor in the morning, but they could leave the door cracked open tonight in case she cried for them.
Eddie knew he was being quiet.
He also knew Steve desperately wanted to say something about it, but probably didn’t want to risk ruining their entire weekend.
They went into Steve’s room and got undressed, climbed into bed, faced each other.
“What’s going on in that head of yours?” Steve asked, rubbing his thumb along Eddie’s cheekbone.
“I-“ Eddie didn’t quite know. He had a sense of wrongness, a sense of sadness, but had no idea why it was hitting him now, here.
“Baby, you can tell me. Is there something missing? I went through the list, but we can always get whatever you need. I mean I may have to save up for some of it, but I-“
“Stevie, I don’t think I can move here.”
Steve’s face fell immediately.
Eddie’s heart dropped in his stomach as he realized that he meant it.
He didn’t think it was just fear, either.
Something was telling him it wasn’t the right thing to do.
“But-I don’t understand,” Steve admitted, his voice small.
“I don’t either. I just have this feeling, this thing in my chest and my head telling me that I shouldn’t. And it’s nothing you’ve done wrong or forgotten to do, I promise. It’s so wonderful. You’ve done more than I could have ever asked for.” Eddie paused, tried to figure out how to phrase this next part. “I had a panic attack when I saw there was a balcony. And I know it’s locked and she’d never be able to get out there on her own, but in the back of my mind, all the time, I’ll be wondering if she somehow is the one baby who can undo window locks. And I’m just thinking about how walking down the sidewalk with her felt like I had to use all my energy just to stay alert enough to protect her. I can’t do that all the time, I can’t live my life constantly at the highest level of stress.”
He could feel tears falling, but somehow managed to say everything he needed to.
Steve was crying, his hand gripping Eddie’s hips, hopefully leaving bruises that would stay with Eddie for days, weeks.
“Baby, this neighborhood is safe. I promise. I even looked into the daycares and school ratings and they’re all good. She would never be alone anywhere and you know I’d protect her with my life just like you would-“
“Stevie, I know. I know all of that.” Eddie kissed him fiercely, tried to make him understand. “But knowing it and processing it are two different things. I know I can’t live like that.”
“I can’t go back to Hawkins.”
Eddie nodded. He knew that.
He knew neither of them could do what the other wanted.
“So what do we do?” Steve sniffed, covered his mouth as a sob left him.
“I don’t know, sweetheart.”
Steve shook his head. “We can’t just give up. I can’t not have you.”
Eddie could agree. He couldn’t imagine being without Steve now, couldn’t imagine Mia not having him, not even having a chance to be a family.
But he had no idea how to fix this.
“I don’t know how to have you, though.”
Steve blinked at him a few times before sitting up and moving to the edge of his own bed.
“We should sleep on it.”
Steve’s voice was broken.
Eddie had caused that.
Eddie hadn’t been able to suck it up, try it out for the weekend.
Eddie was running before the race even started.
“Yeah. I guess we should.”

Apologies, and here we are yet again imma try and finish ep4 so I can upload before Friday but umm let’s get to it!
Imma work on getting an AO3 acc but for now it’s getting uploaded here- also mainly I was working on a drawing that I’ll upload one I finish the outher one that goes with it! >:3
Disclaimer: cussing, gore/blood, Russian ppl, violence, self umm sewerc*de thoughts
Ep3: Oh Дерьмо.
“Hurry. You’re running out of time. They will all die because of you.” A firm Russian mans voice encoded in Elizabeth’s head, she was working on decoding the suit so she could organize it in such a way where it wouldn’t instantly fry the brunet lying on the floor..unconscious.. but instead so he could retrieve more animals- for her to experiment on. Oh right, she would be the reason countless animal bodies to be placed in the ground.
The sooner she figured it out the less bodies she would have bury.
“Aha!” She exclaimed loudly, having done something useful then for that feeling to be shut down when the radio that had been lying on the counter beside her lit up.
"I’m setting up another shipment of кролики *rabbits*-" The same man from earlier was interrupted by the blond.
“Don’t. I-..I’ve fixed this americano’s furry suit, h-he can not collect them for me..” Her voice full of worry not sure of how he will respond.
“Mm. I’m assuming нет *no* progress.. given your still needing кролики..you know as well as I..why we do what we do.” The radio turned off, Elizabeth’s elbows bent in such a way on the counter so her hands ran through her hair. I know . Her eyes and everything around her became blurry as small drops of water turned into tears.
—————————
Chris had woken up now chained up on a wall that wasn’t to far from the woman, Chris noticed his cps was missing, then realized it was next to the blond woman …uh oh.. the activation button was hooked up with wires that were running everywhere- Elizabeth was visibly crying and looked stressed.
“Hey-..umm you ok?..” The younger Kratt had tried to ease the situation but ended making it worse, like always.
“No-…I-..here.” She started talking though the tears before standing up unplugging the wires and walked over handing him the suit, it was grayish now and looked like the first prototype Aviva cooked up.
“Don’t just sit there- try it on, it’s not going to bite.” Her voice shaky trying to hide the fact she had been crying with humor, though it was obvious.
Chris hesitated for a moment before reaching out and taking the suit, examined it then cautiously put it on and waited for some surge of energy to electrocute him instantly- but instead it did nothing good sign so far.
“Vell what are you waiting for?-“ Elizabeth was in a hurry, she was rushed her whole life and now she had to wait.
The brunet was hesitant as he slowly pressed the button..nothing..then bam a white flash almost blinded the blond woman standing next to him- a surge of energy rushed though his body well this is how I die, how Pathetic he though to himself.
Nevertheless he had awaken, now lying on the floor his eyes adjusted to the dim room thinking it was all a bad dream. He called out “Martin?..”
“Oh- good your awake..how do you feel кот?” Elizabeth excitedly asked the small white cat, Chris now realizing it wasn’t a dream thought to himself oh shit- I lived..I’m fucked aren’t I..wait I’m a oncilla?
“Кот?” She waved her hand in front of him trying to make sure she didn’t just electrocute a man.
“What?-“ The brunet answered still his mind was fuzzy, Elizabeth glanced over and smiled then with a press of a button the suit flashed again deactivating Chris.
“It works!-.. you may get some rest now.” The blond woman’s words firm but excited echoed throughout the younger Kratts head had he felt his legs give out beneath him.
Lately he found himself passed out on the floor, after the first night though he couldn’t be sure because there wasn’t a window anywhere in sight so he couldn’t really know how long he’d been in this hellish place- time faded as minuets became hours and hours turned into days.
The numb sensation he felt when passed out or just plain drugged was calming in such a way, so that the biologist could forget about everything around him, he had no reason to fear Elizabeth though previously he tried to Ecape which landed him behind her workspace- to his knowledge she hadn’t killed any animals yet.
————————
Martin on the other had silently cried himself to sleep every night since the incident after all he knew deep down it was his fault no matter what anyone says, on top of everything he still went out into the amazon despite Aviva orders desperately looking for the mysterious black jet.
Koki and Aviva had barley gotten any sleep in the past week, not only taking care of the older Kratt but desperately searching the internet for any clue to who this mysterious woman was, or any previous records of experimenting on animals that could be remotely related to her.
“I’m sorry..it’s m-m fault- I’m so sorry..” The older Kratt continued after he got back to the Tortuga, he had lately been doing this type of thing- over apologizing that is.
“Martin- it’s not your fault, it could have happened to anyone..” Koki chimed in trying to calm him down though it often proved to be more difficult.
“We will find him- together, it’s not your burden to bare alone..” Aviva now had her hands on his shoulders as she pulled him into a hug.
“Umm- I’m going to make pizza, any special requests” Jimmy attempted to redirect the conversation trying to ease some tension.
“No-..well just no fish” Martin replied in a choked voice, he had calmed down and stopped crying.
Sleepless nights became routine in the flying turtle by now, really anything could’ve happened by now. Unlike most villains who were easily able to be tracked it was strange how this random Russian girl managed to cover her tracks so well, unless she wasn’t alone.
Sooner or later the crew knew they had to take flight and began to search the skies- Given it was a jet and it could fly or at least it should be able to.
————————
Elizabeth had been weighting down formulas and surrounded herself with papers, deciding to take a break from the mess and come back with a new conscience later she wiped up some flash cards with letters of the Russian alphabet, for the americano of corse- she didn’t trust him yet to just run off but she felt bad for the poor thing.
“Americano,..you awake?” The blond woman now squatting In front of Chris with her hands behind her back holding the small pieces of paper with letter written on them asked.
“What do you want.” His annoyed voice clearly in agony, he just wanted to go home back to the Tortuga.
“I have a gift for you..” Elizabeth extend her hand which was holding the cards towards the younger Kratt signaling him to take it.
“What’s this-“ After a moment of hesitation he accepted it now flipping though the pile.
“Flash cards..to..um h-help you learn Russian, of corse if you want..” Her usually cocky and firm voice was now soft and shaky almost.
“Oh, um..thanks-“ Not sure of how to respond but having nothing else to do here decided to study the cards, he thought mabe this could be helpful given everyone around him spoke this foreign language.
Seeing the poor thing struggling to do remotely anything with the chains and mostly because she knew whatever happened, if he tried to kill her that she would be held responsible so with a snap of fingers and a point she yelled “боты, untie the americano.”
Chis shared a confused look with the blond woman who as a pair of bots were taking his chains off he began to stand, now realizing he was at least a cuple of inches taller than her he smiled,
“you know- I could kill you at any given moment”
“Oh please, if anything you would be doing me a favor-..” she caught her breath then decided to finish her joke, “I deserve every inch of pain inflicted on me, It’s my fault. I’ve let everyone down.” Realizing what she just said fearing she scared the American she avoided eye contact by continuing to bury herself in work.
————————
Martin hated more than anything keeping track of time, time since he left his younger brother to rot with the Russian- time since he last ate..slept..showered..anything really..
“None of the villains have done anything to endanger animals lately, it’s been over two weeks since we last had word on people dealing a large number of rabbits, or an population decline-” Koki gave a general report to Aviva who wore a worried face, now noticing Martin staring at the Tv the engineer tried to hide the fact it wasn’t looking great.
“If she still is experimenting with the rabbits now, it will be at least anouther week or so before she needs to refill..on the other hand she could use Chris to gather them..” Martin pondered trying his best to contribute, his brouther would know what to do if there positions were swapped.
“Why would he do that-..unless he was forced..”Aviva pondered for a moment before her face matched the white floor, “d-do you think it’s possible..that..s-she could hack the..cps..” She couldn’t think strait, to imagine the possibility was dreadful.
“It’s possible-“ koki was interrupted when Jimmy rushed into the main room claiming one of the wk kids spotted a creepy black jet flying towards France, Aviva pulled up the report giving Jimmy a nod the Tortuga pulled up and began the hunt.
“Hey- it’s going to be ok, we will find Chris” Aviva had been saying stuff like this the past two weeks when she knew Martin was worried usually she had her hands on his shoulders, she was hugging him, or just plain holding his hands.
“Hey..Aviva- umm we have a problem”The engineer nervously asked.
“Yeah- what is it?!” The brunet scientist frantically answered her voice growing with concern.
“One of the wk kids just reported seeing Gourmand rounding up parrots off the cost of Portugal-”koki hated being the one to deliver bad news, though that kinda was her job.
Aviva looked over at Martin waiting on his opinion, this was the first clue to getting Chris back in weeks, but they wouldn’t make it back in time before he cooked up some parrot soup..they had to make a choice..and quickly..
“Let’s get this over quickly-” Martin sighed knowing this might be his olny chance to find him, but decided to hide his tears so nobody including Gourmand could see his pain.
—————————
Upon arriving to the scene of what seemed to be a failed science experiment Gourmand attempting to clean up the mess of pasta sauce while a flock of parrots swung at him, “Get off me!- Just go back to your little nests!”
Martin now noticing the eggs sitting in a basket behind him he joked, “need some help?”
“Wild Kratt’s!- er wild Kratt where’s the green one?” Gourmand now focusing on Martin noticed somthing was off he corrected himself while still being attacked.
“I think if you just returned the eggs they would go away-“ The older Kratt joked sarcastically avoiding the question.
“I’m starting to think rabbit stew would be better- but Elizabeth has been stelaing them lately..” gourmand replied trying to fight off the birds.
“..how do you know Elizabeth-..” Martins tone turned serious he was holding the chef by the collar on his shirt. The aquatic brouther’s mind was panicking yet he was so, angry.
“Woah- calm down I’ll tell you..Just help me get rid of these damn birds!” Gourmand managed to get out while still being attacked.
————————
Martin climbed up each tree while keeping a close eye to make sure the cook didn’t Escape, he kept thinking Chris is the climbing brother.. oh right he’s somewhere with that Mouther-fucking Russian..
“All done, now how do you know Elizabeth.” Hopefully this was a clue to finding his brother but he couldn’t be sure.
While continuing to clean up the spilled sauce he replied with his face focused on the counter, “About 2-3 moths ago somewhere in the Amazon, she was looking for “rabbits” and lost her jet, she had to have been lost for hours because she was hungry..” He struggled to continue.
“And?!-“ Martins panicked voice desperate to get some clues.
“Well I fed her some food I cooked, she was scared I thought it was from just being out there.. but no, she told me she was a scientist..and someone was looking for her s-she had to experiment on animals because if she didn’t many people would die-..that’s when I noticed her bloody stained hands..” The cook’s voice sounded panicked and scared he stoped cleaning and focused on the counter.
“That’s all?-“ Still trying to process the information, by this point Martin knew she wasn’t some low level, though now Elizabeth seemed to be some mad scientist much worse than his usual villains.
“..yea so..” Gourmand tried to cover up he was shook so he didn’t look so weak in front of the man he hated.
“Thanks-“ He had started walking out of the door then jumped on one of Aviva’s bug bikes and rushed back to relay this information.
————————
“So, France..it’s a big country-“ Koki had been talking when Martin ran though the doors his mind racing he quickly tried to inform the team.
“Gourmand said he met Elizabeth before!- She was lost and he fed her..then she told him the only reason she’s killing and experimenting on animals is because many people would die-..” The older Kratt talked fast trying to remember every detail it was obvious he was panicking.
It wasn’t supposed to happen like this he’s the older brother, it should be him who’s getting hurt not his younger brother Chris.
“What?!- Calm down, did he say whare he was when he met Elizabeth?” Aviva bounced off her chair and now had her hands on his shoulders, it pained her to see him so miserable.
“Two months ago, The Amazon Rainforest.” He calmed himself enough to answer her questions.
“So not recent..” She let go of his shoulders and started pacing, hand on her chin pondering.
“Wait- didn’t you mention she knew Donita?!” Jimmy practically blurted out, he had been listening in on the conversation.
“Yea-.. wait! Where is Donita right now.” Koki now pulling up a map of the villains last known locations replied, to there knowledge her bright pink jet was last seen near Bordeaux- a city in France
“Let’s go- maybe she has some clues to where Elizabeth is or is heading.” Aviva chimed in giving Jimmy the signal to lift off.
————————
Let’s just hope I don’t fuck up again, Elizabeth thought as she prepared a syringe hopefully this time she had her formulas right. The scientist went over the steps withdrawal the virus from its container, inject into the animal then withdrawal the “cure” and see if it works.
She began to inject various syringes into the small brownish animal when Chris looked up from his flash cards and focused on what she was doing, she wasn’t really going to do anything right?
Last step, inject the “cure”. It was obvious she was panicking, her hand shakily pressed the needle into the rabbit and waited
Nothing, now pressing against the animals neck No pulse
“дерьмо *shit*” the words escaped her lips, every scenario ran though her head getting caught in a panicked state she glanced at the now dead rabbit.
Chris creeped closer to the woman whose head was in her arms on the counter, he glanced at the animal what the actual fuck just happened.
Noticing footsteps she lifted her head picked up the limp rabbit and carried it to the closest door, grabbed a nearby shovel and left.
Talking his chance the younger Kratt observed the notes and formulas before noticing a small mistake, should I tell her? What if I do..?
A moment of silence before the blond woman walked slowly back in. “You americano- do you have a name?.” Pointing at Chris her eyes already forming tears, Elizabeth’s shaky voice asked.
“Chris..” concern was imminent in his voice, nothing could hide it.
Wiping her tears that fell onto her cheeks she then activated the man’s suit.
“Khris..can you please get me anouther rabbit, alive.” It wasn’t a question more like a demand. Not wanting upset the already broken woman if she kills animals, who knows what she will do to humans he headed for the door before she added “don’t do anything rash- I would hate for you to get hurt.”
—————————
He lingered though the forest, it was different he wasn’t in the Amazon..why should I hunt animals… His thoughts were muted as the suit got into position upon seeing a rabbit stalk was his olny instinct. Kicked into a void unable to escape he could only wach as he hunted a small animal, the biologist wached as he slashed though its skin after he pounced. “what the fuck!..” His terrified voice spoke before blacking out.
—————————
“That wasn’t supposed to happen-“ Elizabeth’s calm voice almost drowned out by the ringing in his ears, instead of collecting the animal he killed it.
Now looking down at his blood stained hands and open further inspection he noticed some brownish fur underneath his fingernails, his vision; still blurry cleared, he realized was covered in blood..his mouth especially stayed a blood red, though it wasn’t his own.
“Chris?..americano hello?..I’m going to try and help you ok-“ He was alive but the same couldn’t be said for what she assumed was a rabbit, one notion later two bots picked him up and carried him towards a enclosed room. There they held him over a sink while the blond woman helped wash his mouth and hands given he was unresponsive..
“What happened.” Now looking down at the woman cleaning his hands, the biologist looked at a unkept version of himself Martin wouldn’t approve- oh right he’s not here.
“I’m not sure, you came though the side door barley awake covered in blood and rabbit fur. Not to mention when I deactivated you- let’s just say it wasn’t for the faint of heart” She pointed to the scar on his arm then she snapped her fingers and the bots dropped him, lucky though he caught himself on the sink counter.
“Woah!-“ She stoped cleaning his hands and instead sat on the toilet lid next to the sink in the dimly lit room looking up at him as if he was some deranged monkey, then stood up now realizing he had a cupple of inches on her the scientist left the room.
Alone, still wearing this damn bloody suit. The younger Kratt washed his face hoping it was some dream that he hadn’t killed an animal his head ached now suddenly gaining a memory though the cracked mirror. His mind felt like it was playing tricks, he stared blankly at his reflection before blacking out.
Slashing though the animals tender skin it tried to fight but it was no use, tearing it limb for limb blood and guts spewed across the forest floor leaving nothing but pieces of what used to be a rabbit. When the suit was satisfied he left.

“Chris- wake up! It’s ok you’re not a кот-…why is it allwase my fault…” The blond woman had practically shook the man awake, he had passed out in the bathroom shortly after she left
“Martin?…Koki?..Aviva-…” For a moment he forgot about the pain, where he was who he was with.
“They are not here, unfortunately I cannot just hand you back. Someday not to far from now I promise..I will fix this, fix everything I’ve done.”
The conversation had shifted to a calmer tone, she knew Иван would never forgive her if she just let Chris go, though she didn’t care if he forgave her. He would end up killing somebody close to the man which was far worse.
Her death would mean nothing, Иван would replace her within days and the americano most likely would be used for far worse than collecting animals.
“I-I remember..everything..” Chris managed though his tears. He remembered his brothers screaming before he disappeared, drowning in the days. slashing though the tender skin as blood dripped from his vest.
“I’m going to fix this.” She wrapped her arms around him then shut her eyes to keep the tears from falling, Chris on the other hand sat in the dim bathroom eyes open staring at the sealing while his tears rolled down his cheeks and onto his vest.

October 1987
“Can I show you something?” Eddie stumbles into bed, his Warlock in his grip, a bowl of chips in the other hand.
“Of course, my love.” You pluck a chip from the bowl, shifting your body to face Eddie as he sits beside you. His fingers dance across the chords, and you sway as he begins to sing. When he finishes, you look at him in awe. “Is it done?”
He nods, eagerly. He’s been fighting with this song for almost a year, and you can tell he’s so proud of himself. It makes what you’re about to say that much more difficult. “May I?” You extend your hand, and he nods, handing you his guitar. You know the chords well enough by now to play it, and you start in with your eyes closed. “What if, instead of a major chord, you used a minor?” You play it again with your revision. “And what if, instead of Don’t let go, you could say don’t let go of me?” You sing the line for him, and watch as his face contorts, brows furrowing, lips pursed. You stop. “Or not, it’s beautiful regardless.” Suddenly, you’re embarrassed for even suggesting it.
“No, it’s not that. I’m just mad you made it so much better in two seconds.” He scoffs, and you can tell he’s upset.
“I didn’t mean to overstep, ali know this song has been kicking your ass, as just thought-“
“It’s fine, Y/n, really. Forget about it.” He takes his guitar from you, and leans it on his side table. Before you can say anything else, he’s turned the light off and pulled the covers up to his chin. no goodnight kiss, No I love yous exchanged.

Present Day
Eddie’s POV
He makes his way back to the dressing room, which is more of a closet behind the curtains of the small stage. He’s comfortably drunk, aching still with the words he’d overheard earlier as Sinéad O’Connor’s Drink Before The War floats through the speakers. You and Steve stand backstage, him adjusting your mike pack while you fiddle with your in-ear, the rest of your band tightening their instruments or twirling their drumsticks while you talk amongst yourselves. “Eddie!” You call, before he can open the door and slide by you, unnoticed. “C’mere a sec?”
Begrudgingly, he approaches you. You’re draped in a black skirt that sweeps the floor, and a black velvet tank top that shimmers when the light hits it. “Lilith had an idea, and I know this is so last minute, but what would you think about doing the song we wrote together? I know it’s probably too rusty for you, but I figure it could be a treat, for the little hometown show? It’s alright though, if you don’t wanna.” You shrug, but something in your eyes pleads with him.
“Sure, yeah.” He says coolly, confused by the question. Why would you want to, after what you’d said? “Where should we put it, in the set?”
“Was thinking, at the end of DDA’s, we have less time, but we have the room for it. D’you still know the chords?”
He fights off a humorless laugh. “‘Course I do. Just gimme the signal, and I’ll be right out. But we don’t have lyrics.” You nod, beaming, “Oh, but I do! I’ve been mulling them over, I hope that’s alright?”
The panic is palpable, he has no idea what he’s in for. “‘Course it is. See you out there.” He gives a curt nod before turning away, entering his dressing room without another word.
-
Your POV
“He’s being weird, right?” You turn to Steve, who’s just finished fluffing your hair out into the disheveled, rocker look you love.
“Of course he is, he’s Eddie. Now, get out there! They’re excited to have you back home.” He’s right, you can hear the restless crowd growing louder, more excited as your set time inches closer. “DDA! DDA!” The chant crescendos, and the house lights dim.
“Break a leg,” Steve plants a kiss on the crown of your head, and you wrap your arms around him. “and kick some ass.”
You turn to your band for the huddle, the pre show ritual, and let Sylvie lead the way to the stage. The crowd erupts as you take your marks, pressing out across a stage half the size of what you’ve grown used to this past month.
“HAWKINS, INDIANA!” You exclaim, drowned out by the audience as Lilith starts a drumroll. “We are Death Dance Approximately, from right down the street, are you ready to fucking PARTY?!” The response is a cacophony of screaming, just the way you like it.
“One, two, three, four,” Lilith taps her sticks together, and you jump into your first song. You open with Indiana, an ode to home, and you feel the weight float from your shoulders. The house is packed, and you recognize a face every few minutes, whether from school or just around town. Your friends are occupying a table on the side of the stage, and you can barely make out their faces. They dance and sing along though, and at some points you’re sure you hear Max’s whistle. It’s electric, rewarding to have people there for you, that know your songs, love your band. It reminds you why you started in the first place, despite the pain you’d endured on your way up.
-
“Thank you for coming out tonight, Hawkins! We have one more song for you before we introduce our friends in Corroded Coffin. This was a last minute decision, but before we play the song we know you’re all waiting for, could you please give a warm, freaky welcome to Coffin’s very own EDDIE MUNSON!” No amount of preparation prepares you for the screaming. The building must be shaking with the vibrations as Eddie saunters onto the stage, spotlight shining directly on him. His acoustic guitar is slung over his shoulder, and he wears a tattered DDA shirt and torn up black jeans, his converse laced tightly on his feet. He waves to the crowd, squinting into the bright stage lights. He wobbles slightly, and you know he’s drunk, but you have faith in his performance ability regardless.
“This song is one I wrote with Eddie years ago, and this is the first time we’re ever performing it. Please forgive us if it’s not so polished, but revel in the fact that you’re the first crowd that gets to hear it!” The audience responds with applause, and you glance at Eddie. His eyes are glued to the floor, not looking at you at all, so you turn back to Lilith who counts you off.
Eddie starts in with the opening melody, much softer than any song CC has put out, but still with the hard bite that persists within their catalog. You begin the ad libs, ones you love to play with live that can’t be recreated in the studio. The crowd sways with you, and glimmers from their lighters each the sky as you start the first verse.
“I’ve seen my share of gore and pain, enough to last my lifetime. / I wonder how you’re coping now that you’ve got that hurt inside. / I’d ask you how you’re doin’, but I know that you’d just lie, / and I’d bother you to open up, / if I thought it worth our time. / But you’ve been off drinkin’ down the hurt and pain we’d felt, / and I'm stuck circling the drain alone, keeling over as I melt.
Six years of shit, and dirt, and blood / caked under our fingernails, / and all I've got to show for it are these twisted, evil tales. / So all I ask is don’t let go, / don’t let go of me, / and all I want is for you to know / that you’re still the one for me.”
You don’t open your eyes the whole time, and you know you’re in for it when you do. You’re sure he’s caught on by now, the lyrics far from subtle, but still you can’t bring yourself to watch his reaction to them, instead focusing on your voice not breaking as he plucks the strings only three feet away. When the song ends, the crowd shrieks and it’s all you can hear. Eddie waves to the kids at the barricade, mouthing thank yous as they clap for him before approaching you. You entwine your fingers with his, swinging both your arms first into the air, then down to the floor as you both bow. He squeezes your hand before letting go, walking offstage without a word to the audience.
“Eddie Munson, everyone! I know you’re all very excited to see Corroded Coffin tonight, but we got one more song for ya, is that alright?” When the whooping fizzles out, Sylvie strums the opening to Pretty Boy, and it gets loud again. “This song is for, well, if you know you know. It’s called Pretty Boy!”
-
Eddie’s POV
He makes a beeline for the mini fridge, cracking open a beer before even saying a word to his bandmates. “You good?” Gareth raises an eyebrow, watching his bandmate down the bottle without a breath in between.
Eddie belches before snapping, “What makes you think I’m anything but perfectly fine?”
“Oh, just, everything.” He mumbles, but Eddie hears him anyway.
“What’s up with you, man? Aren’t you two on good terms now?” Jeff asks, plopping down on the arm of the sofa next to Eddie, who’s sprawled in the middle like an old rag doll.
“I have no idea. Thought we were, but I overheard them talking earlier and-“
Jeff interrupts, “Overheard? How much did you actually hear? Ever wonder if eavesdropping is maybe not the most reliable source of information?”
Eddie glares at his friend, who only rolls his eyes. “I know what I heard.”
“Whatever, man. We have a show to do, so get your shit together.” Jeff heaves himself off the couch again, and Gareth follows, clicking his drumsticks.
-
“Good evening, Hawkins! We are Corroded Coffin, and we’re here to fuck shut up!” Gareth shouts into his mic and is met with an eruption of screaming fans. Eddie feels the alcohol coursing through his bloodstream as he strums a chord, amping up the tension before the drummer counts them off. They break into the first song. His vision’s fuzzy, but he can still sense you, standing right up front, mouthing the words and nodding your head to the beat. He can’t let himself think too much about it, already distracted by your earlier conversation with your band. Because of him. You’re having nightmares again, unable to rest, because of him. The words play on a broken record, spinning out of control inside his brain, and he barely realizes he’s broken a string from strumming too hard.
When they end the song, a crew member cloaked in black rushes onstage to help him fix it while Eddie stands there, useless and shaking with a feeling he can’t place. Not exactly anger, nor anxiety, but a sinister lingering in his gut. The crew member leaves, Eddie’s string replaced, and Gareth waits for a cue to continue. “Apologies, my dear friends, for the technical difficulties. Thanks for coming out to see us on such short notice. This song is for anyone that’s ever felt like a freak in their own skin.” Eddie backs away from the mic as Jeff starts in on their next song, Eddie’s voice barely a part of him as he sings. His fingers are starting to bleed from playing so hard, something he hasn’t done since he started playing guitar more seriously.
Eddie fades in and out during the set, on autopilot, his usual lighthearted banter with the crowd now awkward and empty. He feels nothing when the lighters fly into the air during Wiped Clean, or even when he looks right at you when he sings Sweetheart. It feels like something in him has died, leaving a gaping wound. Being home was like ripping that wound right open.
-
Your POV
He’s looking right through me. There is absolutely no feeling behind Eddie’s performance tonight as he drags himself through the set. He’s usually bouncing off the walls, swinging his guitar around or sticking his tongue out while he shreds, but tonight he stands there, his head barely even nodding, let alone banging and thrashing like he usually does.
Around you, there’s a sense of panic. These people came for him, they know what he’s about, and this was likely the last thing they’d expected of a hometown show. Their dancing is tainted with confusion, worrying for the man on stage in front of you. You look to where your friends stand, cautiously swaying and nodding along to the music, glancing back to you every so often with a raised or furrowed brow. Dustin, though, meets your eyes and immediately starts pushing his way through the crowd.
“Move, please! Friend of the band coming through! Eddie Munson’s protege! Out of the way, holy shit!” He makes it to you relatively unfazed, and you grab his outstretched hand to pull him up to the barricade. “What the hell is going on?” Dustin shouts, and you shake your head.
“I have no idea, he’s been weird all day.”
“He drinking?”
“Dustin, he’s an adult!”
“That’s not what I mean! Is he, like, drinking drinking?”
“How am I supposed to know?”
He shoots you a baffled, disappointed look, and you get it. Loud and clear. This, whatever Eddie’s doing right now, is somehow related to you. “I am not responsible for his behavior!”
“No, of course not! But you might be able to explain it!”
You think, hard. You were fine this morning, waking up together, even being mistaken for reconciled lovers. “I really don’t know, Dustin!”
“Shit, okay. I’ll get back to you.” He turns around, about to disappear again, but you grab him. He meets your eyes, reading you in such a way that you probably won’t even have to ask him. But you do, for good measure.
“Make sure he’s okay, yeah?”
“Of course.” And you let him go. You turn back to the stage, where Eddie switches his beautiful electric guitar for his well worn acoustic. You feel a smile pull at your lips, knowing the acoustic rarely makes an appearance at regular Coffin shows.
“Hawkins, you’re so very special to me,” He starts, tuning his guitar as he slurs. Shit. “So I feel I should show you, just how special. We don’t usually do this, but because we’re home, I feel it’s only mandatory. I’m gonna play you guys a deep cut, one we never released and probably never will.” No. No fucking way. “Now, even the guys didn’t know I planned to do this, shit, even I didn’t til halfway through the set. That set sucked though, am I right? I mean, the guys were wonderful as always, but I was god awful, and for that I am truly sorry. It’s hard to put the energy into this town when it sucked the life out of me for so long. No offense, I do love that you’re all here.” Jeff and Gareth exchange looks of befuddlement. They have no idea what’s going on, but it’s starting to click in your head.
“This song is called Salt The Earth.” Your jaw drops to the floor. He’s never shown that song to anyone else, that you know of, because he hated it that much. It was a battle he’d been fighting since you’ve known him, one even you weren’t sure he’d win. But here it is, in the same town he’d written the song, giving it a live debut.
He plays to an almost silent, completely entranced room of people, staring straight ahead at the glowing exit signs, past you and all of his friends.
“Burnt the whole place down, demolished holy ground, packed your bags, didn’t look back, salted earth on your way out. / Fires bright, smoke in my eyes, I never even heard your goodbyes. / When you leave you’re supposed to salt the earth, you’re supposed to cut the rope. / But I'm still here, tied to this post, while you’re out somewhere laughing.”
There’s a bite, a sting behind your forehead, as the lyrics swim through your head. You haven’t heard the song in years, and it was barely passable as a song, but somehow, the lyrics are still there, stored in the depths of your memory, and only yours. As far as you can tell, scanning the faces of your friends and colleagues, you’re the only one that knows the words. Some of them have changed, he’s vastly developed as a songwriter in the last couple years, but it also gives you waves of nostalgia. To you, this song is an old friend, one constantly looping in the background of your life with Eddie. Selfishly, you wonder if your life with him, the ending of it especially, contributed to the song’s growth.
His voice is low, gravelly to match the somber tune. His eyes close as he further loses himself, wincing as he fingers the chords, breaking open fresh wounds on his fingers. Every so often, when you really let yourself watch Eddie perform, you’re hypnotized by his presence. You forget where you are, who you’re with, as everything falls away except for him, on display in front of you, for you, the only other person in the room.
The song comes to an end, Eddie practically playing himself out, still strumming as he leaves the stage. It takes a second, but the room eventually explodes with applause, chants of EDDIE! EDDIE! filling the club to its ceiling. After a good amount of teasing, the house lights dim again and the band take their spots once more, Eddie front and center with his Warlock strapped back in place.
“You didn’t think we were done yet, did ya, Hawkins?!” It’s as if he’s been struck with new life, rejuvenated after playing that song, defeating that looming enemy he’s had for so long. “We have one more song for you, and I know you know it. Thanks so much for comin’ out, tip your bartender!” They start in on The Crawl, the crowd going wild for one of their biggest songs. A pit opens in the middle, close to where you stand with your friends, and you feel at ease for the first time all night. Despite Eddie’s weird behavior, things have been going well. You desperately wish the other shoe would drop, but at the same time want for once for there not to be a second shoe. There’s always a second shoe.
-
Eddie’s POV
The tension still lingers in his shoulders, but he feels lighter. Salt The Earth had been a big, angry cloud threatening to rain down on him for years, and it’s like he’s finally watching the sky clear. Or, he would have been, if not for the much darker, much angrier cloud right behind it. This one holds what you’d said earlier, behind closed doors, and not for him to hear.
He stomps offstage, t shirt in one hand, guitar clutched in the other, avoiding eye contact with his friends and bandmates as he looks for solace: the bar. He’s already very, very drunk, and he knows it’s not smart, but it’s all he can think to do to drown his memory of earlier, and his shame about the way he’s reacting. What a Catch 22, to need to drink not to feel shame, and to feel shame for drinking.
“Hey, is he-?” Your voice floats into his ears, warm and concerned as you ask Steve where he is. “Never mind.” And suddenly, you’re next to him, leaning on the counter, not saying a word as he gulps down his whiskey. “Hey.”
He doesn’t look at you, barely even acknowledges your presence. He grunts, “Hmph.” in response.
“What’s going on?”
He won’t respond. He won’t open up to you again, he can tell it’s hurting you.
“Eddie, would you look at me, please?” He hears it, the slight crack, whether it’s from performing or from holding back tears he’s not sure, but it works in your favor.
“There’s nothing to talk about.” His words come out jumbled, slippery in his mouth against the liquor.
“There must be, if you’re drinking like this. What’s bothering you?” He chances a look at you, and wishes he hadn’t. You look up at him with concern, eyes darting back and forth between his, trying to read him, dig into him even deeper.
“Nothin’, just thirsty.” He won’t. He can’t tell you he heard you, it would only upset you, and it’s not fair that he’s heard you in the first place.
“Ed, you know you can tell me anything.”
“Ever think I don’t want to?” He snaps, and you jolt. He regrets it, it’s not your fault he feels this way, not on purpose, but he’s infuriated by your care for him.
“Okay,” you start, voice low, “you don’t have to. But I’m around, y’know, if you change your mind.” You almost place your hand on his shoulder, a gesture of consolation, but he leans away, and you tighten your lips to keep them from quivering. “See you later.” And you’re gone.
“Another round, barkeep.”
-
Your POV
“Well?” Steve meets you in front of the buses, overseeing the crew as they load the trailer. “How is he?”
You all but break down at the question. “I don’t know, I really don’t.” You don’t know why it hurts so much, he doesn’t owe you anything. “He won’t talk to me, but something is most definitely wrong. Whatever happened, I don’t have a single inkling of what it is.”
“Do you want me to talk to him?” Steve is gentle, wrapping an arm around your shoulders as you let a single tear slide down your cheek.
“You’ve done so much for me already, this whole time. I can’t keep letting you fight my battles for me. I’ll figure this one out. On my own.” He nods, giving you a reassuring squeeze before letting you by, into the bus. You’re the first one in, the rest of your band enjoying their night with each other, and you’re in here sulking. “Fuck it.” You mumble, exiting the bus again. “Let’s go enjoy our night home, huh?” You wipe your face hurriedly, much to Steve’s confusion, but you don’t let him ask more questions. “C'mon! Let’s go dance and drink and be fuckin’ merry!”
He laughs, but it’s a nervous giggle. “Okay, okay! Don’t get all weird on me, though.”
“Please, Steve, you know I can’t promise that.”
-
The house music is blaring Soundgarden’s Jesus Christ Pose as lingering fans drink and dance, trying to catch glimpses of band members in the makeshift VIP sections. You catch your friends in the far corner, and they wave you over when they see you. “Thought you’d gone off with your boy!” Max teases as you sit next to her in the booth, and you try not to make your irritation known.
“He’s probably off somewhere, brooding.” Robin intercepts, a smirk on her face.
“That’s all he seems to do now. Any chance we’ll see him again before we leave?” Mike quips, and El giggles.
“And if we do? Chances are we’d say something to piss him off.” Lucas adds, slumping in his chair.
Dustin mumbles something only meant for you, but even you can’t hear him. “What was that?” When his eyes meet yours he looks away, and before you can ask again he’s sliding out of his seat, off into the darkness of the club. “What’s his deal?” You ask the group.
“Guess he’s not in the mood to rag on Eddie? Strange, he’s usually the one to start the rolling of the punches.” Lucas shrugs, and you sigh.
“Should I go apologize?”
Will shakes his head. “He’ll get over it, hang out with us!”
-
Eddie’s POV
“What the hell, man?” The voice next to him is unmistakable, even in his current state of intoxication. “Why are you hiding from everyone? We haven’t seen you in two years, more than that, and you’re avoiding us!” Dustin yanks the drink out of Eddie’s reach. “Fucking say something!”
Dustin’s anger startles him. “Whoa, big guy, hang on,”
“I have been hanging on, all week. You were fine, almost normal, and tonight you go on stage acting like a zombie, and you don’t come say hi to anyone after. I'm done waiting around for my friend to reappear. What is your damage?”
Eddie looks at Dustin, his sweet face and big eyes as he tries to keep his composure. “Look, man, it’s adult stuff, something you’re not gonna understand.”
“Would you drop that? I’m 20 years old, Eddie, as much as you don’t wanna admit it to yourself. Is it Y/n? Cmon, give me something to work with. Pretend we’re friends again.”
It takes a second, but Eddie catches the last part. “We are friends, Dustin, ‘course we are. I didn’t wanna burden you, or any of the guys with it. But I guess I owe you, y’know, for not giving up on me.”
Dustin crosses his arms. “Yeah, you do.”
“Alright, fine. Let’s go talk.” Eddie throws an arm around the boy, and they exit the club.
-
“What do you wanna know?” Eddie asks, a cigarette pressed between his lips.
“Everything. What happened with Y/n? Why’d you disappear? Why didn’t you call?” Eddie can tell Dustin’s trying to stay composed. He’s a strong kid, but this is even harder for him than the rest of the party. Eddie owes him an explanation, and they both know it.
“We broke up.” Eddie starts, and Dustin nods to keep him talking. “We broke up three years ago, and I hadn’t seen them in two.”
“At all?”
Eddie shakes his head. “I couldn’t, it was too hard. I left Hawkins after that, and couldn’t make myself come back. I couldn’t face you, the guys, or even Wayne, y’know? Everyone thinks…” He trails off. Everyone thinks it’s his fault. It is his fault.
“I don’t.” Dustin seems to read his mind. “Sure, you didn’t handle it correctly, you ran away from us. But it’s not your fault it happened.”
“Dude, I know you mean well, but it is. I let everything get to me. The fame, the break up, and you’re right, I did run away.”
“The fame would get to anyone, Eddie. And as for the break up, of course it would. I had never seen you like that before Y/n. You two were inseparable, infatuated with each other beyond belief, obviously you’re gonna hurt. But you had us, you could’ve talked to anyone, to me.”
“I know, I’m sorry. I should have.”
“Why’d they break up with you?”
Eddie gapes at him. “Why do you think they broke up with me?”
Dustin can’t help but snicker. “Sorry, dude, you’re not hiding it well. The avoidance, the brooding, the drinking. They’re hanging out inside with everyone right now, and you’ve been at the bar all night.” Eddie doesn’t say anything. He wants Dustin to keep talking, to be angry at him, he has every right to be. “There’s something else, isn’t there? Something recent.” Eddie bows his head, kicks the gravel at his feet. “Something to do with Y/n?”
“They uh, they said something. To Steve, last night.”
“Oh, please, can you drop that? Steve and Y/n have never been anything but platonic, you know that.”
“No, nothing like that. They told him about a nightmare they had. Said it was my fault.”
“No.” Dustin says simply, shaking his head. “They wouldn’t. You sure that’s it? You heard them say that?”
“Well, no, but-“
“But nothing! You’re an idiot, Eddie.”
“Gee, thanks. I wasn’t already feeling horrible about myself or anything.”
Dustin groans. “You know eavesdropping gets you nowhere! For all you know, they were blaming you for a scuff on their boot.”
Eddie purses his lips. “I don’t really think that’s what it was.”
“It definitely wasn’t.” You stalk out of the shadows. “Dustin’s right, though, eavesdropping doesn’t get you anywhere. Well, except for when I do it.” You give him a sad smile, and he looks away. “Henderson, can I have a minute with our rockstar, please? The guys are on the other bus, if you wanna go raid the snack stash or something.”
Dustin nods, and turns back to Eddie. He wraps him in his arms, the first real hug he’s gotten since coming home. “Hear them out, okay? There’s an explanation for all of it.” Dustin pats Eddie on the back, then gives you a hug before disappearing into your bus.
Eddie can’t look at you, still basking in the post gig glow, cigarette dangling between your fingers. You walk closer, slowly as if not to scare him away. “I didn’t say anything like that.”
“Then what were you talking about?” He asks the ground.
“What did you hear?”
“‘All of this is because of him, as much as I hate admitting it. He’s the reason.’”
“Oh my god, you really are an idiot.”
“Right, I got that.”
“Eddie, I wasn’t talking about the nightmare. I told you, it happens when I come back here. It’s this place, feeding on whatever I’m already worried about. I was talking about my whole career. You’re the reason I’ve come this far, the reason I write what I do. I wasn’t blaming you for anything, I promise. Will you look at me, please?”
He does, finally. He looks into your pretty eyes, sparkling under the bright lights of the parking lot. Your cigarette hangs long forgotten in your hand, and you take another step towards him.
“You think you got here because of me?”
“I know I did. I couldn’t have done this without you, you have to know that. Deep in your soul, you know.”
He doesn’t, or at least he can’t admit it. What he does know is you don’t need him now. You’ve outgrown him, mastered your craft in such a way that doesn’t require his assistance anymore. And yet, you’re still there, waiting for him to come around, just like every other time. “I’m sorry. For this, for me. It wasn’t right of me to assume, to take something I only heard part of so personally.”
You shake your head. “No, it really wasn’t. Here I thought something real had happened. I thought I’d done something to hurt your feelings, with the way you’d been treating me. Avoiding me suddenly like I’d kicked your dog. Turns out, you’ll look for any small problem to excuse your behavior.” Your voice carrie’s a venom Eddie recognizes, each word stinging as it’s spit at him. “I’ll leave you alone. I get it. This is too hard for you, and I guess it’s not worth a fight.”
Before he can respond, you’re turning around, walking away again. “Wait! Please, wait.” He doesn’t mean for his voice to break, but he can’t help it. He can't watch you leave again.
You stop walking, but you don’t turn around. “What?” There’s no feeling in your voice, it’s cold.
“Are we okay?” He asks lamely.
You sigh. “We’re whatever you want, Eddie. Just like every other time.”
He’s dumbfounded as you walk away. You leave him there, alone, just like you’d found him six years ago.
-
Your POV
You can’t let yourself be proud. You know, deeply and surely, that you’d done nothing wrong. So why does it feel like you have? You’re in no mood to see your friends anymore, but it’s your last night in Hawkins before tour resumes, and you’re once again stuck with Eddie and his stupid face.
When you decide to make a beeline to the bar, you’re halted, colliding with a figure lurking behind the building. “Whoa, hey, sorry,” He stutters as you say, “You’re not supposed to be back here,” when he moves into the light. He’s older than you remember, more lines carved into the skin around his eyes and mouth, hair more white than gray, but it’s him. “Wayne, oh god, hi!” You squeak, and it takes him a second to recognize you.
“Y/n, wow. How are you, kiddo?” He cracks a smile, and your heart warms. He doesn’t hate you, even after everything.
“Oh, you know, same old.” He scoffs at your pathetic response, and you laugh too.
“Right, same old, touring the world and all.”
“Totally, just another day in paradise! Did you see the show?”
He nods, suddenly somber. “That’s why I’m back here. I don’t expect you’ve seen my boy?”
You frown at the question. “He hasn’t said hi?” Wayne shakes his head. “Yeah, he was just outside the bus, the big black one down there,” you point to where you’d come from. “Should still be there.”
“Thanks, love. How’s he, uh…” He trails off, realizing his question probably won’t have the best answer.
You give him one anyway. “He’s not good, Wayne. I don’t think he’s been good for awhile.”
He shakes his head sadly. “Haven’t heard from him in months, and after seeing that I had to find him.” His voice trembles, his fists clenching and flexing with each syllable. It scares you.
“Is this normal behavior with him?” You ask the question gently, trying to hide your nerves, and settle his.
“We talk once a week. Thought I’d give him some space when,” He pauses, meeting your eyes for the first time. They’re glassy, and it breaks your heart to see him so defeated. “I don’t know what you know. It’s not my business to tell, I’m sorry.”
You shake your head. “Don’t apologize. I’ll walk you over to him.” Forgetting your dramatic goodbye, you pivot to face the buses, down the road from where you’d bumped into Eddie’s uncle.
“How’s tour been, by the way?” He begins, turning his head to look at you again. “You guys are making something great. Both of you,” He nods his head in the general direction before them.
“It’s definitely been chaotic. We've never done anything this big, and to do it under these circumstances is,” You falter.
“A punch in the face?” He offers helpfully.
And you laugh. Despite it all, you belly laugh at the man’s words, and it feels good to talk to someone outside of everything. Selfishly, you hope Eddie isn’t there, maybe you could hang out with Wayne. Maybe get your questions answered, or at least some inside scoop on why Marie’s diner is now called The Wrench.
“Yeah, a huge punch in the fucking face.”
You make it to the bus, still not running and therefore not leaving this shit town any time soon. You knock three times quickly, three times slowly, and three times quickly again. The bus shakes, and the door flies open. You’re met with the silhouette of Eddie in his underwear, travel sized toothbrush shoved in his cheek, chest heaving as he catches his breath. “What the- Are you okay?!” Your last conversation forgotten, panic written on his face, Eddie switches the front light on. “Wayne?”
“Hey, boy.” Wayne’s voice is weathered, a calming wave over this terrible tension, a welcome distraction.
“Didn’t think you’d have heard about this.”
“You think I’m not cool enough? You shoulda seen me in college, son.” And Eddie laughs, for the first time all day, and you can’t help giggling too.
“I’ll leave you guys alone, it was so nice seeing you, Wayne.”
“You too, kid. Keep it up.”
You nod, holding out your hand for him to shake. Wayne swats it away, pulling you into a hug you return with fervor. “Thank you for everything.” You whisper, and you can feel him shake his head, but he doesn’t respond. He has no idea what he’s done for you in raising Eddie, letting you crash at the trailer on bad nights, and promising not to say anything when he’d caught you singing in the kitchen that one time he’d come home early. He’d treated you, and all of your friends, like his own. He’s your family.
-
You end up playing Bullshit with everyone on the ride back to Nancy’s.
“5” Dustin slaps a card down.
“BULLSHIT!” It’s unanimous.
It’s a five
“FUCK!” Cards are thrown, birds are flipped, and there’s a pink tint to it all. You’d give it all up for this moment, but you know it’s not forever. The kids will go back to school, they’ll graduate, they’ll do something important. You’ll go back on tour, bumping into Eddie in different cities, different countries, until you inevitably kill yourself with drugs or pyrotechnics, or sell out stadiums until you’re fifty, like The Rolling Stones.
“Alright, kiddos, we’ve arrived.” Steve shoves himself from the bench to open the door. Both buses are parked down the street from Nancy’s, halfway to Dustin’s to make the trek home easier for them. “See you soon.” Steve squeezes Dustin first, then the rest of his children one by one. Eddie peers cautiously out of the crack in his own bus door, and you catch his eye. You have a million questions for him, and not a single one you’ll be able to ask any time soon.
“Ed, at least come say goodbye.” Steve says it with humor, a lightness you couldn’t manage if you’d tried.
It does the trick, as it always does, and Eddie emerges from his shelter. He makes his rounds, saying goodbye to the kids, then turns to Steve to say something. You can’t make it out, but Steve responds with a nod, and brings Eddie into his chest for a hug. “Alright, we’ll pick you up in the morning, you gonna be ready to go?”
“I don’t need Mother Steve over my shoulder to make sure I’m ready to leave. Wayne will do it for you.” He pats Steve on the shoulder. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow, yeah?” You join your friends in waving goodbye, despite the lingering heaviness in your chest. You’re worried about him, despite how many times you’ve told yourself he’s not your responsibility.
Eddie gets back into his bus, and it drives away, leaving the rest of you at the fork in the road. The kids take the left to Dustin’s, and you follow your friends and bandmates back to the Wheelers’. “I didn’t know Wayne still lived in Hawkins,” You start, hooking your arm through Steve’s. “I figured he would’ve left as soon as he could.”
Steve nods. “Guess it’s more difficult than that. But Eddie bought him a real nice plot of land on the far edge of town, and Wayne built the house.” Of course, Eddie bought Wayne a massive plot of land, that doesn’t surprise you at all. “What’s your deal? You haven’t visited the parents yet, everything okay?”
You shake your head. “They moved back to Boston after I graduated, they had no reason to stay, Dad quit his job because he missed the city so much. But they told me they’re coming to the show out there, so that’s keeping me going. It’s weird, being here now. Beyond you guys and the kids, this isn’t my home anymore.” You remember the day they told you they were leaving, and asked if you had wanted to come. By then, you and Eddie had already planned to move in together, but right now you were between jobs and Eddie had only just gotten signed. You’d moved into the trailer instead.
Steve wraps his arm around your shoulder. “You always have a home here, y’know. You can take the rockstar out of Hawkins, but you can’t take Hawkins out of the rockstar. Prime example just drove away.”
Your group reaches the front door, and you say your goodnights before dragging your tired body into the guest bed. Tonight, you sleep alone.
-
You’re back in the dark, this time going seemingly unnoticed as you watch the figures in front of you. You recognize Eddie instantly, even with his strange posture and soulless eyes. In front of him, the taller, lanky figure stalks around, surrounding Eddie with its massive arms and veiny body.
“You have succeeded in your mission, Eddie. You have eliminated the one thing holding you back. Whatever you do now, you do it without them.” The one supposed to be Eddie, he doesn’t say anything. He watches the figure as it moves, unfazed by the words it seems only to be thinking. The voice is disembodied, swimming through your ears, or living inside your mind, you’re not sure.
Before you can react, though, the limbs stretch, tangling themselves around to Eddie’s body. You can't move, can’t speak, only watch as the branches of its arms tighten around him, lifting him into the air before swiftly snapping his spine. The body falls to the ground with a thud, and you can’t scream, can’t cry, you can only watch the body of the boy you love bleed out in front of you, as it would have years ago if you hadn’t gotten there in time.
-
You’re woken up by Nancy barging through the guestroom door, panic on her face. “Hey, whoa, hey,” she hushes you, rubbing your back as you continue hyperventilating. “Another nightmare? Here, here’s some water.” She hands you the glass and you gulp, stopping only to gasp for air. “You wanna talk about it?”
You do, but you can’t bring yourself to start. The first thing out of your mouth is, “Where does Wayne live?”
“Wayne? Y/n, are you alright?”
“I’m fine, where does Wayne live?!” You try not to snap, but this anxiety inside you is not letting up. Nancy tells you the address and you barely register it, but you bolt out the bedroom door and down the stairs, slipping on a pair of abandoned sandals before throwing the front door open.
“It’s far, hold on a second, let me drive you.”
“No, no, it’s fine.” To your left, Mike’s bicycle lay against the side of the house, and you yank it towards you. “I’ll take his wrath for this, but I need to go now. I know you’re gonna try talking me out of it.” You throw your leg over the bike, amazed that it’s now too big for you considering you’d met Mike when he was several inches shorter than you.
“Okay, please be safe. Give me a call in the morning.” Nancy wraps her arms around you, and you lean your head on her shoulder. When she lets you go, you pedal away, only vaguely certain of the direction you’re going.
-
It takes you forty five minutes, but you find Wayne’s house. Out front, Eddie’s old, beaten box of a van sits on cinder blocks, and it makes your heart hurt. You shove that feeling aside like you do the bike, tossing it onto Wayne's front yard before sprinting to the door. It dawns on you, you have no idea what you’ll say, regardless of who opens the door, if anyone does. The light inside is on, and you think you hear music playing, so you say a quick prayer that you’re not disturbing anyone’s much needed rest.
You bang on the door before you can talk yourself out of it, and you don’t stop until it’s answered. When it swings back, Eddie basks in the glow of the porch light, draped in a torn tank top and plaid boxers, rubbing his eyes. “Y/n?”
You have to physically stop yourself from charging at him, throwing your arms around his neck and peppering his face with kisses. “God, I’m so sorry, did I wake you guys up?”
“No, you’re fine. I was just about to go to bed. You uh, wanna come in?” You nod sheepishly, and he moves to let you by, clicking the lock shut behind you. “Are you okay?”
You take in the living room before you, much bigger than the trailer you’re used to picturing Wayne in, but still very cozy. His mug collection is still on the wall, as well as pictures of him and Eddie, the Hellfire Club, and even a picture of you and Eddie from your senior year. It makes you smile to see you’re still part of the family. in Wayne’s eyes at least.
“Uh, well,”
“Right, stupid question. ‘Nother nightmare?”
You can't help it, you break. The tears fall from your face before you can make them stop, and your breath seems to leave your body. The sobs that erupt from your throat are strangled, broken noises, and you rush your hands to your eyes to cover them. You feel Eddie before you see him again, embracing you without a second thought, rubbing your back soothingly as he lets you cry. “We don’t have to talk about it. It was just a dream, you’re safe. I promise.”
You wrap your arms around his waist, pressing your face into his chest to suffocate the remainder of your sobs. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, Eddie. I couldn’t think of anything else, I couldn’t bring myself to tell anyone. I woke Nancy up and I still couldn’t tell her. It was so dark, I was so scared you were,” You pull your face away to look at him. He’s tired, you can tell, soft eyes carrying bags of sleep beneath them that he’s more than ready to put down, but he’s here with you instead. “I can go. I know you probably don’t want me here, just give me a second. I just had to make sure you were okay.”
Eddie shakes his head, holding you still. “You’re not going anywhere tonight. It’s way too dark, and I don’t have a vehicle to bring you back. I didn’t come here to get away from you. I just wanted to be somewhere quieter for tonight. That’s all.” He pulls you back into him, seemingly more for himself than for you. “You’re alright. Let’s go upstairs. I’ll give you the tour tomorrow.”
Eddie holds his hand out, and instead you hook yourself around his arm like a child reunited with your parent, holding on for dear life so as not to get lost again. Eddie leads you up the stairs, and down the hall to what you can only assume is the guestroom. When he opens the door, though, it’s far too lived in. Eddie has clothes in the closet, shoes on the ground, and records on the shelf in the corner. “I keep a lot of my stuff here. Wayne won’t let me take it to LA, thinks it gives me a reason to visit more.”
“Does it?” You sniffle, finally relaxing.
He shrugs. “I’m here now, aren’t I?” He looks you up and down, taking in the clothes you’d ridden here in. “You need something to sleep in.” He turns to his dresser, pulling out an Iron Maiden shirt and another pair of boxer shorts. “It’s not much but,” He holds them out for you, and you take them gratefully. “I can uh,” You’re already changing before he can finish, and you don’t care one bit that he didn’t even bother turning around.
“Thank you.” It’s a whisper, full of shame. You didn’t want to disturb him, to interrupt his time away from everyone. You’d been selfish, biking your way here just to see him.
“You don’t have to thank me. Or be sorry, for that matter. Never.” He pulls the covers back and climbs into the big bed.
“I can sleep on the couch, I know you probably want to be alone.” Even though you don’t, you can’t be right now. You would, though, for him.
“Absolutely not. Get in. Please.” It’s not a question, but you nod, and climb into the bed beside him. Before you can move, Eddie drags you into him, his arms closing around your waist, head burying into your shoulder. Instantly, you’re calm. Eddie washes over you, and you’re overwhelmed by his warmth, his smell, his soft breath on your neck. I’m safe, I’m safe, I’m safe. You repeat it to yourself until you’re dozing off, and Eddie’s breath evens out. You fall asleep with him wrapped around you, and you don’t have another dream.
