This is a really good passage, it kind of brings home the sadness, but also the hypocrisy that Laurence still has in him as a Brit. The awfulness of your home being turned into a warzone, and the weirdness of being on a mission there...when he's already had his palms 'wet with blood, on a spy's errand' in more than one palace. But they weren't his home.

I swear, I’m about to start talking about Halsey and Miranda because that shit is so tragically coded that I’m screaming. Like this Greek tragically level coded to me.

Halsey did love her daughter but didn’t know how to show it and thought it was best for Miranda to go to her father because she knew she wouldn’t be a good mother. She knew she couldn’t care for her daughter properly and gave her to the parent that knew would be able to provide for their daughter.

And Miranda always thought her mother didn’t love her because in her eyes, she was abandoned, in her eyes, her mother preferred her projects to her own daughter. In Miranda��s eyes, her mother couldn’t bother with her.

But Halsey did love her and now Halsey will forever be haunted and heartbroken by Miranda’s death. This woman cries in her room, saying Miranda’s name over and over again.
