in 2007 quentin tarantino released Death Proof, a film about a trio of spunky and self-motivated young women using their wits, their wiles and sexually bargaining their dumb cheerleader pornstar friend to a hilbilly for a vintage movie car on which they can do elaborate ritual stuntwork, before, after getting vehicularly assaulted by an aging hollywood sleezeball who can only get his rocks off by murdering and tormenting women with his own fancy timecube prop car that makes him feel immortal, they then use that car as a murder weapon, dirtying the shit up out of it and avoiding all consequences because the credits will roll soon, they beat the shit out of sleezeball as he begs for his life, caving his skull in with their leather girlpower boots as the credits roar.

in 2019 quentin tarantino released Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, a film about a brave and misunderstood hollywood stuntman who murdered his wife, but that's okay, because he's literally Leonardo DiCaprio and his dumb-as-shit violence beta is Brad Pitt, who if you like men, is even hotter. (If you're a man and you think Leo is hotter, I am sorry, my friend. You are secretly a chick. I'm tickling your pussy right now and it feels good.) So yeah, he killed his wife, and he has a lot of problems and can barely work because he's so aging and violent and unstable, and when that trio of mentally ill homeless women break into his home, it's okay when his BFF gets high on acid and brutally murders them with a can of dog food because we know these are the people responsible for the historical Manson Killings, though in this timeline ... they've done nothing wrong yet, and seem to be being used as a mouthpiece for certain alarmist "feminist" critiques of violence in film (and arguably depiction as endorsement more broadly) ... Like, from his perspective, Leo is just in his pool and his first instinct upon seeing a strange women crashing in ... is to run for the prop flamethrower lying around from that Nazi movie and just burn the shit out of her. It's okay that we're laughing. We saw Brad Pitt bash her brains in with Dog Food while doing Kung Fu moves high on acid and we're subconsciously reminded of Scooby Snacks, so it's even funnier. the point is ... the hollywood sleezeball is going extinct, and i'm not saying young women with opinions are to blame, but quentino tarantino knew and worked with harvey weinstein his entire career, and this revisionist film about his Laura Palmer-izing of Sharon Tate owes much, visually, to her own Valley of the Dolls, a film about how the LA machinery chews up and spits women out, and in which her character is explictly reduced to a body as she commits suicide.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT????
