Round 5, Match 3: The Fix vs. Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Submitted kids:
The Fix: Conrad Schintz, and then he adopted like, an whole orphanage, named Madam Loathings home for wayward interests
Kanan and Hera: Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, Zeb Orrelios, Chopper
Propaganda under the cut!
The Fix:
1. “Ok ok so. Spoilers for mentopolis: First some context that mentopolis is a show that takes place inside one guys brain, all the characters represent something in the brain, and the guy whos brain they are in, named Elias Hodge, is so so very sad.
Ok so, The Fix, the personification of hyper fixation, is like is someone who has spent most of his life working for people, where his job was to 'eliminate distractions' (He kills people, basically). Then one day he is told to eliminate a child. His name is Conrad Schintz (Or the Conscience, due to an accident that happened to the guys who's brain they are in when he was a child- Conrad stopped thing he was useful, aka Elias stopped using his conscience, so his conscience has not grown since the incident, leaving him a small child)
The Fix has never had to hurt a kid before, and he doesn't want to do that, so he instead goes into protecting Conrad. Conrad kind of hates himself though and also kind of thinks he deserves to die so that's not good.
The Fix gave this like, beautiful speech to Conrad once about how hes important, I wont give the whole thing but something along the lines of "There is a butterfly who has a tail that is there for if a bird was to grab on to the tail, it would break off and the butterfly would escape. I don't think you are the tail of the butterfly, I think you are the butterfly." (its better in the actual show). I cry. There is another speech about eagles he gives Conrad when Conrad offers himself, to basically die, but i don't remember it that well.
Other then Conrad though! So There is this orphanage, called Madama Loathings home for wayward interests. Basically its a bunch of kids that represent past interests of Elias. Its run by this women called Madam Loathing (represents Elias' self Loathing)(she is very mean to the kids). The Fix donates a lot of money to this place, and visits a lot, the kids there love him and think he is so so cool. There is this one kid named Ronnie Reptile. He loves reptiles, and The fix gives him reptile facts, its cute. In the first episode, The Fix tells Madam Loathing how any of those kids/interests could be rediscovered by Elias at any time, and madam loathing sort of taunts The Fix, sort of saying how "Oh I'm sure I can tell the kids they will call be adopted by The Fix soon, but that would be kind of cruel, wouldn't it?" Implying that that won't happen. (cause, The Fix is hyper fixation, and hyper fixation adopting an interest would be good, you know.).
Note that Conrad used to live at madam loathing's, because he was mis identified as just a simple interest and not Elias' whole sense of conscience, but Corad ran away with his best friend, a dog named Justin. He lived on the streets after that.*
So a bit later on in the series The Fix and Conrad have to go to to madam loathing's together (and another character is with them but he isnt relevant for this). When they get there Madam Loathing asks The fix if he is here to drop of Conrad here, and The immediately is like "Absolutely not, shut the fuck up." (I think that's the direct quote). I just really like that scene.
At the end, end of the series. Some plot stuff happens. The Fix met a women named Pasha N (She represents Passon), and they are in love, The fix proposes to her, its sweet, but then madam Loathing, who got some like, character growth I won't really go into here, and she says to The Fix how, she needs to go on a trip to find herself, and then she offers the entire orphanage to The Fix and Pasha, which is accepted. So in the end of the show, The Fix has basically adopted, that entire orphanage, so thats a lot of kids, along with Pasha, but she isn't in the show as much so I wont submit them as a pair. I didnt mention it before but The Fix is known for knowing a lot of facts and saying "Did you know." before saying a fact, which a lot of the time, it is a fact that is truly terrifying but thats a lot, and The narration at the end of the shows, says how The Fix and Pasha spend their lives with kids around them, constantly saying "Did you know? Did you know?" and it is very sweet. Conrad sort of had his own ending away from The Fix, but I still head cannon that The Fix adopted him too and Conrad comes to the orphanage sometimes.”
2. “listen. i don't know if this really counts as propaganda but just saying, mr. the fix thinks you're not the tail of a swallowtail butterfly. you are the butterfly.”
Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla:
“The parents ever. Healthiest family dynamics in the galaxy. Families that kill fascists together stay together. Kanan managed to keep an extremely traumatized child on the light side of the force, Hera kept a volatile Mandalorian from blowing herself up (and Chopper from murdering everyone). So good at adopting, they taught Ezra to adopt uncles with increasingly homicidal tendencies. So good at adopting, they successfully competed with the aforementioned crime uncles and kept Ezra. So good at adopting, they managed to adopt a grown ass man 10 years older than them.”

TBB S3- some thoughts that've been on my mind
Hello friends, I've had some thoughts on some plot elements on S3 for a while and some ideas on how they could've been tweaked to work better. There's already been so much discourse; I just wanted to add my own perspective because the potential was there. And again, I wanted to see if these ideas could've worked well within the rest of the story without significant rewrites. (This is my brain trying to make sense of everything I felt missed the mark).
I also have more Tech thoughts because man, I'll never get over how he was handled.
Edit: btw, NOTHING will ever stop me from loving this show or these characters. I still think TBB is amazing and has peak SW content. I just sometimes ponder certain choices made.
Crosshair's Hand: I concur with everyone that the infamous hand chop really didn't make any sense narratively. My perspective on Crosshair's important shot wouldn't have changed if he had his hand. Crosshair overcame because he had support from his family, not because he suddenly could shoot 100% accurately again. From a shock value POV (and just straight up whump angle), the hand chop works. But that adds nothing to the narrative or significance to the characters. Crosshair could've gotten hurt in any other number of ways and the story wouldn't really change. CX-2 and his comrades still had our favorite sniper at their mercy. Crosshair was in deep trouble no matter what.
Personally, I wouldn't have taken the hand. But if we HAD to keep that part in, the only way it really would've worked was if CX-2 was either Tech or had a stronger relationship to Crosshair in general. While I think everyone would still agree the hand chop really wasn't really needed, the scene would've had a stronger impact. Another thing would to have a stronger reaction to it in general. Crosshair might be high on adrenaline, but the fact that he barely reacts to it makes the whole thing feel like it was done for shock value only. Which I'm sure wasn't the writers' initial idea. This man just went through a traumatic amputation. The least they could've done was give him a scene where he says something about it to one of his brothers.
CX-2: The whole CX subplot needed some more substance in general, but for now let's focus on our main man, CX-2. I was more under the impression that he was Crosshair's shadow than Tech, but either way, they just needed to give him more to do. Technically, he did fulfill his purpose within the story: he successfully delivered Omega to Hemlock. Then, he just dips until the finale. I think had they built up more of rivalry between him and Crosshair, there would've been more emotional weight. He gets skewered by Hunter and that's it. He cuts off Crosshair's hand because... he's petty? But Hemlock would just replace Crosshair's hand anyway. (Again, the hand chop wasn't necessary).
I don't know if it would fix anything without doing major rewrites, but I think having Crosshair and CX-2 face off again in "Point of No Return" would've helped. For example, Crosshair tries to hold him off to let Omega escape. Omega, seeing her brother in peril (as well as everyone else), chooses to give herself up. Crosshair could still chase after them to fire the tracker. I don't know if this would've helped, I'm just throwing ideas out here. At the end of the day, having CX-2 as a more established character in terms of his relationship to Crosshair would've given the entire subplot a huge boost. He is the ghost of Crosshair's future. A ghost of a permanent future. Not only that, but he was a brother turned into a monster. They didn't need to go out of there way to give him an entire episode, but some more scenes dedicated to the CX program overall would've been nice.
Tech: I already talked about my frustrations enough so I won't rehash them. However, I will share what's been on my mind concerning him and that's the why. Why didn't we get proper closure that we got for Kanan? Heck, Maul got more closure than Tech did. I almost cried watching House of the Dragon S2 premiere when one of the main characters was shown still mourning a death from S1. Tech never got any of that. So, why didn't he? I've asked myself that question plenty of times. The reasons I came up with are: time jump, soldiers, and priorities. But let's be honest, they're not the strongest reasons and don't excuse the poor handling of a beloved character. Tech deserved better period.
5 months is a quite a bit of time. For some people, 5 months is enough time to grieve. For others, it's barely time at all. Given their upbringing, Echo, Hunter, and Wrecker tried to carry on. Omega, meanwhile, doesn't come from that perspective. She reacts strongly. And with her circumstances on Tantiss, she wouldn’t really have the time to grieve properly. Crosshair adds it to the list of things he feels guilty about (that's the implication I'm getting).
Because they're all soldiers except Omega, the hug it out and cry method wasn't something we were gonna get realistically.
Their priorities also have changed too in those 5 months. Hemlock became an even more terrifying threat. He had Omega. He had Crosshair. I think in Hunter's mind, he was so focused on getting Omega back and keeping her safe that it kept him from really acknowledging Tech's death. Wrecker kinda follows along with Hunter. Crosshair is the only person who really acknowledges the true pain of losing Tech but it's only when he's pushed to his most vulnerable. I honestly expected Omega to say something about it as well. Nope.
In conclusion: everyone got so tied up in escaping Hemlock and saving Omega that they refused to acknowledge Tech?
I mean, I guess that kinda makes sense. But it doesn't make the situation any better. To make it better (other than straight up reviving him), we'd need an episode or at least an entire scene in at least one episode to talk about it. Have the characters open up or have a moment to sit and just process that it's been that long. Crosshair going "CF99 died with Tech" doesn't count. Heck, Crosshair is the one really struggling here. He'd benefit most from having good cry and hugs. Problem is, when I look back, I don't know which episode could fit a "Tech closure" scene. The best options would be "The Return," "Bad Territory," or "The Harbinger." But other plot elements kinda take over and it would require significant rewrites in order to make the Tech stuff work without feeling shoehorned in.
Ok, rant over.

Ch. 1 In Which Sabine is Ezra's Best Friend
Sabine had been looking differently at Ezra the last few days. She wondered if he noticed. He wasn't that same kid they'd rescued on Lothal all those years ago. He'd grown into a fine young man— and to think, all it took for her to notice was almost losing him forever.
The minute she found out about his plan to sacrifice himself, a number of words to describe him came to mind. Idiotic. Brave. Reckless. Noble. Stupid. Heroic.
He'd been adamant that the rebellion could stand him, that Lothal would be fine without him, that the rest of their family would be okay without him. In a way, he was right. The Rebellion could get on without him. Lothal could get on without him. The rest of the Ghost Crew would find a way to get on without him.
 But she couldn't.
She made him promise that he wouldn't go through with it unless it's what it absolutely came to, and they spent the next two days working tirelessly to come up with a plan that would save Lothal without Sabine losing her best friend.
 And somehow, it worked.
Ezra now stood before his people as a hero, in a ceremony they threw in honor of all the valiant heroes who'd liberated them. A lot of members of their squadron had been asked to give a speech. Sabine had narrowly escaped the draft on that, but Ezra hadn't been so lucky.
"I really do wish I could thank every one of you," Ezra was saying, standing before not only most of the inhabitants of the planet, but also the hundreds of rebel cells watching via underground holonet, "old Joe, Jai, Ryder, that old lady I pickpocketed a week before joining the fight— but, uh, most of all, I'd like to thank my family."
He paused for a second to collect his thoughts, a new record for the longest time Ezra could go without talking.
"We wouldn't be free right now if it wasn't for the sacrifices along the way," Ezra said, "and I know my parents and Kanan would be proud of us."
Sabine stood close enough to see the tears welling up in Ezra's eyes, but he pulled himself together pretty well as he turned to their captain.
"Hera, a long time ago you told me that if all I do is fight for myself, then my life is worth nothing. Thank you for showing me something worth fighting for."
Sabine didn't need to be standing near Hera to know that tears were gathering in her eyes as well.
Ezra then turned to Zeb and Chopper.
"Zeb, you're the big brother I never wanted— and still don't want— but always needed. Chopper, though, I could live without."
Chopper beeped passive-aggressively a few meters away.
"At least he mentioned you, little bucket of bolts," Sabine thought, "not that he needs to talk about me. Why should he?"
"And most of all," Ezra said, and he turned to her with a smile on his face as his eyes somehow found hers, drowning her in their depth and intensity, "my best friend, Sabine." His tone lowered, as though, despite the fact that his words were being broadcast across the galaxy, he was only speaking to her as he shook his head and added, "I couldn't've done it without you."
It was just a simple sentence, but those words clacked around in Sabine's mind for the rest of his speech, even as he turned back and addressed the crowd gathered before them.
 "My best friend."
She'd known Ezra was her best friend, but she'd never assumed she was his.
 "My best friend."
Ezra couldn't go more than ten minutes without making a new friend.
 "My best friend."
Surely, in all the hundreds of people he called "friend," shouldn't there have been one closer to him?
 "My best friend."
But no, Ezra had looked her in the eyes and told her and the entire galaxy that she was his best friend.
 "My best friend."
 Still, she needed confirmation.
As he wrapped up and the crowd began cheering, Sabine pulled him aside, not entirely out of view of the people below, but at the very least out of their primary focus.
"Did you really mean that?" Sabine asked.
"That refreshments will be served in the square as soon as we wrap up?" Ezra asked, restating the last words of his speech, "of course."
"Not that," Sabine took a deep breath, "when you said I'm your best friend."
"Absolutely," Ezra smiled, then quickly followed with, "I mean, if that's okay with you."
"Of course," Sabine said, unsure what to call the feeling in the pit of her stomach, "you're my best friend too."
His eyes washed over her in rich blue waves, powerful enough in small doses, but more than enough to knock her off her feet if she wasn't careful— and today, she wasn't. He started to turn and walk away, but she put a hand on his shoulder, and his eyes overtook hers again.
"I'm really glad you didn't sacrifice yourself," Sabine said.
 He smiled. "Me too."
In that moment, all there was in the galaxy was her and Ezra. Instead of taking her hand off his shoulder, she stood there. After a moment, Ezra placed his hand on her shoulder— no, not on her shoulder, on the back of her neck— and he pulled her toward himself.
She could've pulled away. She could've punched him in the gut and run. Instead she leaned closer, ensuring that his lips landed on hers.
Maybe it was a moment of weakness. Maybe it was all the pent up emotions from the past week— loss, hope, triumph, regret— finding an outlet for release. Maybe Sabine had finally just realized how much Ezra really meant to her, and she to him.
Either way, she was kissing Ezra Bridger, and in that moment she held zero regrets about it.
She'd always wondered at how Ezra could ramble, always saying so much in a short span of time. It was no surprise that his kiss did the same, sending a message worth a million rambled words, one she was more than enthusiastic to hear.
Time stood still and so did they, afraid that if they moved for even a second, the world would move around them, and this perfect kiss would end.
She couldn't tell which of them sighed a soft "oh," as he pulled her just a touch closer, just like in all the old holofilms.
 Holofilms.
 Crap.
These speeches were being recorded on holofilms.
And broadcast across the entire rebel holonet.
And there was no way the cameras weren't picking this up.
Sabine pulled away from him quickly, trying her hardest to regain her breath as her hands and lips removed themselves from her best friend. For a second, he looked confused and almost a bit hurt, but he regained himself in an instant, his face turning a shade of red Sabine hadn't known was possible.
They both turned back to look at the crowds over the edge of the balcony, careful to leave an obvious amount of space between each other. Still facing forward, Ezra leaned his head toward her and whispered, "do you think they noticed?"
Down below, a holo projector of their video stream, with text below it that said "INSTANT REPLAY," showed a recording of their kiss, blown up to about seventy five times larger.
"Yeah Ezra," Sabine said, using a facepalm as a guise for hiding her blushing face from any further holocam recordings, "I think they noticed."

I guess what keeps me up at night is asking what's the point of Sabine's search for Ezra, like... as an emotional arc.
(This text is an adaptation of the thread I wrote on Twitter)
Because when I rewatch the fourth season of Rebels, I get the impression that they are paired together in many episodes as a way to prepare us for a hurtful goodbye between the two at the end of the show, which is to me the same reason why they decided to go heavy on confirming Kanan and Hera's romance because they knew he was going to die.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't really know if the parallels between Sabezra and Kanera are intentional considering how Filoni talks about the former, but Ezra does become Kanan (even has a whole stretch arms sacrifice) and Sabine does become Hera (Deep grief for losing him) and not in a "The kid got this from his/her parent." sense, but in the sense of that the situation is really similar, which is interesting because it wasn't like this originally.
Ahsoka made Sabine's grief towards Ezra not being by her side all the time a thing.
Tumblr media
Instead of simply letting Sabine's mission be about bringing Ezra home like in the original animated epilogue, Filoni complicates things a little bit by implying that Sabine is not doing this for Ezra, but for herself. Beyond that, almost every character notices how devoted she is to him and it even confuses some of them.
Thrawn, for example, has studied Sabine. He is well aware that Ezra is her compatriot and friend and yet... he is confused by her choice. Sabine states "You wouldn't understand." and then accepts to be stranded on Peridea just to see Ezra again. Once she found him and even after hearing he wants to get home, she did not say a word about Thrawn being his only ticket home. Instead, she simply enjoys time with him.
Tumblr media
If you know Sabine Wren, you know that she would never ignore a huge Imperial threat and put in danger people like Hera, who is definitely an older sister type of role model to her, or feel that Ezra is the only family she has, so I do understand why people think she is very distant from the original show.
There might be a reason for all of this. A reason that I'm not sure Filoni wants to dive into, but the way he's been writing Sabine, the vagueness every time Ezra is the conversation's topic, feels like she has fallen in love with him during his absence and honestly? This makes far more sense than any other explanation.
We've seen in Star Wars before, fiction in general, that love is blind. Sabine's focus on finding Ezra is described by Baylan as something that blinds her. Not only this would justify her out of character attitude, but also the parallels with Kanan and Hera.
Star Wars live-action TV shows this year have been interesting to decode. In both The Mandalorian season 3 and Ahsoka season 1, there's a lot of subtle implications that characters want to build a life with somebody.
Mando does this in Chapter 22 - Guns For Hire, an episode surrounded by romantic love, where a droid bartender tells Din and Bo that human life is so short and then they look at each other. They want to be together, but that has not been verbalized yet. It is still very much in the subconscious.
Tumblr media
Ahsoka does it in Part 7 - Dreams and Madness, by showing Sabine's lack of urgency regarding Thrawn and simply enjoying Ezra's company. It really implies that this was what her mission was all about: Be with Ezra. Her real desire is build a life with him, but that desire is still in the subconscious.
Tumblr media
I believe Favreau knows all of that when it comes to Din and Bo.
BUT DOES FILONI KNOW THAT WHEN IT COMES TO SABINE AND EZRA?

I mean, the World Between Worlds is just as "soft magic" in how it works as anything else in Star Wars. The things it can be used to do or not do are pretty nebulous and unclear. Ezra finds Ahsoka specifically because Morai leads him to that portal and seems to open it for him even, while the same isn't true for the portal to Kanan's death on Lothal, and obviously there's the portal Ezra CAME IN through that seems to be just connected to the Temple as opposed to being connected to a specific moment in time (especially since Ezra comes out and time has passed, he doesn't go back to the exact moment that he left).
We also hear a lot of DIALOGUE as Ezra wanders around the area, from a lot of different periods of time, some of which are from what Ezra would consider the future and some from what he would consider the past, but there's no explicit indication that what he's hearing is all attached to the different portals we can see and these are moments where he could feasibly travel to or not.
We don't even know if someone could go in there with the explicit goal of using it to get to a specific moment or if the World Between Worlds sort-of... chooses for you in some ways.
And while the Lothal temple's PORTAL is destroyed, this does not mean that the WORLD BETWEEN WORLDS is destroyed. It seems to exist outside of space and time and there's plenty of opportunities to get people into that space in other ways than that one portal Ezra used. Whether Ahsoka was actually in the World Between Worlds during her episode with Anakin or not is left ambiguous (personally I don't think she was, I think it was a vision that just utilized that imagery, NOT the actual World Between Worlds), but it isn't outside the realm of possibility that another Force sensitive person might be ABLE to find another portal into it. I also don't think Ezra himself destroyed the portal, he seems to just be trying to escape Palpatine and then the Temple basically protects ITSELF by burying itself into the ground or whatever.
We also don't now what would happen if someone stepped THROUGH a portal that lead to a time they are not originally from. Ahsoka seems to believe that she HAS to go back to the portal to Malachor rather than come into the future with Ezra. When Ezra saves her on Malachor, he doesn't go fully through the portal, he just reaches out a hand to grab her and pull HER through the portal. If he had gone through the portal entirely, would he have just... been stuck there? Would the portal have disappeared? Would there have been two Ezras? What would be the ramifications of there being two Ezras? We just don't know because the World Between Worlds has never been used that way in canon. We don't even know if the World Between Worlds would ALLOW you to do something like that. Ezra only actually makes a change in the one portal he's explicitly led to by Morai. When he gets to Kanan's, he TALKS about trying to save Kanan, but he never actually physically does anything, so we don't know what would've happened if he'd made the attempt. We have to assume that he COULD'VE pulled Kanan through, and that someone COULD do some pretty nasty stuff if they had access to it the way Palpatine seems to want, but we just... don't have enough information to know either way.
So COULD someone go back in time and kill Palpatine before he becomes Chancellor? Sure, I guess, theoretically. There's nothing necessarily explicitly saying it COULDN'T be done, but there's nothing saying it CAN be done either or that doing so wouldn't somehow cause a lot of other problems generated by the time travel itself.
As for your question about Padme being hypocritical, I'm not sure I'm entirely following what you mean. In the scene where Padme chooses to help Palpatine oust Valorum by calling for a vote of no confidence, it's not at all a BAD THING for Padme to be focusing on Naboo. Naboo is actively being invaded and occupied and she is the elected leader of the planet. It's her JOB to put her people and their needs above everything else, she wouldn't be a good leader if she didn't. Palpatine is her mentor and hasn't truly done anything to make him seem suspicious yet, so when he says that getting rid of Valorum could lead the way to new better leadership that might get them faster aid to their people, she's got no reason not to believe him. And when Palpatine comes back as the new Chancellor and says he can't help her either actually, so sorry, she turns around and immediately finds another solution via the Gungan army.
And once we see her as a Senator later on, she is all about sort-of expanding her values beyond Naboo. The first thing we know about her as a Senator is that she's actively working to convince the Republic NOT TO GO TO WAR. That's something that goes far beyond just helping Naboo. During TCW, we see her sort-of focused on refugee issues and helping other Senators with their issues sometimes (like Rodia or Mon Cala) and even coming out to help the Gungans when Jar Jar lets her know something's up. In ROTS, there's an entire deleted subplot about how Padme was working with a group of likeminded politicians to try to overthrow Palpatine due to his corruption (whether you consider this canon or not is up to you, deleted scenes are sort-of a grey area and it's not hard to work it into canon but just say it wasn't relevant to Anakin's story or something). So I don't think Padme is being hypocritical when she calls for a vote of no confidence in Valorum at all, she's a 14 year old elected Queen of a planet that just got invaded, there's no TIME in this story for her to think about helping anybody else and pretty much any other time we see her, she IS doing stuff to help other people beyond her own.
I think that her MARRIAGE is hypocritical and contradictory to her claims of wanting to help others because quite often that relationship HINDERS her from doing what needs to be done and it fucks up her priorities, but I do think her desire to help people is genuine and that she did have her priorities right during TPM by focusing on Naboo.

Oooooh so many good options. I'd like to hear anything you'd like to share about ANY of the following, just pick your fave Korkie and Adonai (gal) quin and ben (gal) ani rarepair stranded/trapped/single dad Korkie doesn't usually come to these (gal) TT ben and ashla b&e mace deager go brr kittens mandos and jetii sleeby deeby aug 27: children (korkie deage)
I did TT ben and ashla here!
I'll do a few of these ones for you!
Korkie and Adonai
This one takes place later in the Galidraan au. Korkie notices that Palpatine is taking a keen interest in the younger members of the Mandalorian delegation, most notably Ben. He doesn't know a whole lot about Palpatine other than he became an evil magic emperor after the end of the war--and that whenever Auntie Satine noticed that Anakin Skywalker was going to see Palpatine by himself, she'd always done everything she could to delay or redirect him. Korkie doesn't know what to do about him, and he's pretty sure that Myles and Jango would get themselves killed if he told them what he knows, so he goes to a Mandalorian that he knows won't immediately resort to violence--his grandfather. And if he has to tell Adonai the whole truth in order to get him to believe it, he will.
:) I'm so excited for this one tbh. It comes after Korkie's managed to get himself hired as one of Grandpa Kryze's bodyguards, after he's managed to meet the members of his family he'd never had a chance to and become a somewhat trusted friend to them--and now he's about to take the biggest risk and tell them everything he knows to protect the kids in their care. It also takes place shortly after baby Korkie is born, which I think adds an interesting flavor.
Ani rarepair single dad
Time travel fic! Anakin gets tossed into the future from the clone wars to shortly after A New Dawn. Ahsoka and Obi-Wan are there too, but they've been turned into little kids. Kanan and Hera are broke down in this city, and Kanan ends up inviting Anakin and the kids to stay with them while he helps Hera fix the ship. Eventual Kanerakin.
Kanan used the Force to hear whatever the little kid had to say.
"Me klop you," it muttered in Huttese. "Da do Jeedai."
Kanan's heart froze for a moment. That's a Jedi, the kid had said.
He grabbed his space beer and drained it. "I think I'll go talk to them," he said, with a grin at the bartender. "With genetics like that, the kid's parent has to be a real looker."
"If they slap you, I'll give you something to drown your sorrows in on the house," the bartender said dryly.
Korkie doesn't usually come to these
Myles gets Korkie to spend the holidays with the Tenaus. Some of Myles's older siblings have questions about why Myles is raising Korkie's younger siblings.
AKA when Myles meets the kids, they tell everyone that they have "no family that would recognize them" and when Korkie enters the picture, Ben introduces him as his brother. Now Derry and Throckmorton want to know why the fuck Korkie's younger siblings ended up abandoned in the snow on Galidraan and who the hell Korkie thinks he is, exactly, and what his plans concerning Myles and the kids are now. :)
aug 27: children (korkie deage)
Some Mandalorian archeologists find an abandoned Jedi Temple on Mandalore (post war, good ending). Korkie ends up interacting with one of the artifacts they found, and it turns him into a child. Satine calls Obi-Wan and Cody to come help. It was originally written for a Codywan week, but it immediately became codyobitine, so I've been working on it as its own thing. Korkie is Force-sensitive! So is Bo-Katan! No one is happy about this!
"Oh," Satine said, suddenly much less alarmed. "Yes, he did that sometimes as a child. But that's not Force-sensitivity, all children do that. He grew out of it by the time he was six."
"Wha--Satine!" Obi-Wan said. "All children most certainly do not do that!"
"Of course they do," Satine said. "My sister did the same thing when she was little, and you certainly wouldn't call her Force-sensitive."
Obi-Wan put his hand over his mouth, likely so he didn't say something that he would prefer six-year-olds did not repeat.
Finally, he said, "I cannot kriffing belive Bo-Katan is Force-sensitive!"
"Hey!" Korkie said judgementally. "Dush miit'e, t'ad waadas!" [bad words, two credits!]
There was silence for a moment.
Then, Satine and Cody burst out laughing.
This is one of my favorite wips and tbh I should work on it more often. It's just fun.

Obligatory Kallus ofc 🖤 but if you already have an ask about him or want something more: Kanan and/or Rex?
Oh you're the first one to request Kallus so let's go!
One aspect about them I love: I love and respect that even though he was in the Empire for a long time and actually believed in its cause and that it was helping the Galaxy (not like probably some of the others who joined to gain influence, money or power) he was still capable of changing, he didn't ignore the new facts and point of view presented to him by Zeb (and I imagine ignoring it would be very easy), instead he took steps to actually ask questions, find out the truth and eventually had enough courage to defect (my baby's character development is something that can be so personal...)
One aspect I wish more people understood about them: No idea actually
One (or more) headcanon(s) I have about this character: BUCKLE UP IT'S MY TIME TO SHINE!
He grew up in the Underworld, probably surrounded by many immigrant families, so he grew up in a diverse environment and knows a couple of languages besides Basic (btw he taught himself that posh Coruscanti accent in the Academy)
He would probably have a good alcohol tolerance (an Eastern European one, you know)
He used to be super self conscious about his freckles, many said it made him look childlish and unprofessional, but Zeb loves them and thinks they're absolutely adorable
He loves to stargaze, since he couldn't do that in the Underworld as a kid (bonus points if he's always amazed by plants and forests and nature for that exact reason)
He has scars after Onderon (like on his chest, back and arms) and is very self conscious about them
He cannot, for the love of his life, take a compliment
He's got very pretty penmanship
One character I love seeing them interact with: Zeb of course, duh! They are my sweethearts and I love them and not only because it's an obvious ship, I genuinely love their interactions. I adore The Honourable Ones and the way they were able to find the way to relate to each other despite being on two different sides of the war and that Zeb was the one who opened Kallus' eyes (and also shoutout to that small part of part 2 of Zero Hour, where they get the coordinates from Kallus' escape pod and Zeb just looks so scared and concerned for his man, like yes!)
One character I wish they would interact with/interact with more: I would honestly love to see him and Sabine become besties, they have the potential, both being defectors from the Empire, I love the concept of them growing closer and becoming friends and bonding over stuff like gossiping about old Imperial bosses. I also feel like these two would be the ones who cook best out of the crew so maybe like, kitchen gossip sessions over making dinner? Idk, I love it (oh and btw he totally lets Sabine paint his nails when she's bored)
One (or more) headcanon(s) I have that involve them and one other character:
As above, I think Kallus can cook quite decent meals, he just never had the time and so when he's in the Rebellion, Sabine encourages him to cook meals with her and he rediscovers that passion (and is later able to enjoy it fully on Lira San)
I feel like all droids love him and he's the only one besides Hera, who Chopper actually respects and wouldn't mess with (also because Kallus is nice to Chopper and he loves to be cherished, my little war criminal)
He's an orphan from the Coruscanti Underworld and had to fight his way to the surface and to the Imperial Academy and later off planet and his backstory is something he bonds over with Ezra (bonus points if they exchange tips on pickpocketing and shoplifting, since they both used to do that to survive)

Said I'll write my thoughts on the relationship between Sabine and Ezra and here it is.
This post is not anti any ship, it's just how I see the characters and their dynamics.
I gotta admit, when I started watching the Ahsoka series I was familiar with the majority of the Clone Wars and I had a vague idea what Rebels is about. I hadn't watched it though, and didn't know too much about the characters and how important it is for this show (I fixed this mistake after ep 2 and this was the best thing. Like honestly, I watched it all in a few days and I'm obsessed with it ever since, omg, I love them all).
So, basically I knew who the characters were in general, not really what the relationships between were, only that basically this guy Ezra and Thrawn had somehow went to another Galaxy with the help of Space whales. And I knew Sabine wanted to bring him back, no idea what they were.
And tbh, I just found this so logical. Like, I watched the first two episodes of Ahsoka, saw her watching the hologram and them all discussing the map and all and I wondered whether they were a thing or not. In any case, I totally understood her and her willingness to do anything to find him.
Then I watched Rebels and I could see from the first episodes that it was hinted he sorta had a crush on her, which later somewhat faded, or at least they actually became very close friends and he wasn't just the younger boy that she would tease anymore.
And then I continued watching Ahsoka. And I could still understand why she wanted to find him, even though they weren't a thing.
And I also didn't blame her one bit when she gave the map to Baylan. It made lots of sense to me. She had lost Ahsoka and thought she's all alone. If she hadn't given it, she would have been probably killed anyway and she would have never had the chance to see him again and that's all that was left for her, literally, as it later got revealed that her family was dead. Like, sure, Hera was still out there and they kept in touch but while I've always seen the whole Ghost crew as a family, I somewhat think they all had different dynamics. While Ezra was literally the child and Hera was almost like his second mother, I've always seen the relationship between Sabine and Hera more like a younger/older sister rather than mother/daughter. And Ezra was the heart of this crew. He had a different relationship with each of them yet I believe because he was the youngest and just so... witty, mischievous, brave, you know, Ezra, they all cared for him so deeply. And because they all had different dynamics between each other and the two of them were so close in age, their bond compared to them and anyone else (maybe except Ezra and Kanan, but again, different dynamics there) was really one of the strongest. They understood and cared for each other on a bit of a different level because they could see each other as equals. They didn't feel the other as if an older relative, mentor or something like that. They were two teenagers and friends who had gotten to be so close and care for each other. And the rest of the crew had found one or another purpose in their life and thing to do while Sabine had remained where Ezra had lived, hoping to find him one day. So, in that moment, he was all Sabine has left for real. He told her he counted on her. Directly turning to her. Years of not knowing where he is and finally having the chance to see him again vs dying and not knowing what even happened to him was basically failing him. If I were here, I wouldn't have even hesitated for someone so close to me.
And then the show proceeded, they got reunited and they just had this cute and sweet banters all the time. And Ezra's "I missed you" in the last episode. That's the cutest thing he could have said. At first I thought this was what meant as "his excuse", then I gave it a second thought and it could have been just him saying he missed her witty and slightly sarcastic comments but still, it showed just how much he had thought of her and relied on her all these years.
What I've been trying to say is, honestly, I don't really ship them actively but from all Sabine ships, this one based on all the interactions makes the most sense to me, if she had to end up with anyone. I feel they'd be healthy for each other. No hate for any ships as I said bit it's just making the most sense. And I won't be mad if they decided to make them get together. And I also wouldn't be mad if they just let them be very close friends. Honestly, I think it can work as a very deep friendship too. I love close non-romantic bonds between characters too. I'll be mad only if they never met again. Because they have so much potential to support each other and help each other heal and grow. They can be each other's support and strength.

Ch. 2 The same thing you just read, but from Ezra's perspective
Ezra Bridger was having the time of his life.
Lothal was safe, he hadn't needed to sacrifice himself to ensure it, and Sabine seemed to think it was pretty important that Ezra didn't sacrifice himself. She'd searched without rest for a plan to keep him from exiling himself to a galaxy far, far away, and somehow it had worked.
Now she stood at his side as he gave a speech to his people— his free people— and he couldn't help but notice the glances she was giving him, hoping he wouldn't come across as tongue-tied as he thought he did.
"I'm really thankful for everyone," Ezra said, "really, I'm thankful. I wish I could thank every one of you: old Joe, Jai, Ryder, that old lady I pickpocketed a week before joining the fight," he cleared his throat, loudly, "but, uh, most of all, I'd like to thank my family."
He looked over to where the rest of the crew stood, trying to ignore the lump in his throat at the empty space next to Hera.
"We wouldn't be free right now if it wasn't for the sacrifices along the way," he finally said, holding back tears, "and I know my parents and Kanan would be proud of us."
Then he turned back towards Hera.
"Hera, a long time ago you told me that if all I do is fight for myself, then my life is worth nothing," he half laughed, and shook his head, "thank you for showing me something worth fighting for."
"Zeb, you're the big brother I never wanted— and still don't want," Ezra said, and before Zeb could pummel him, he followed with, "but always needed. Chopper, though, I could live without."
Chopper beeped in response, something Ezra thought must've been along the lines of "love you too, bro."
"Most of all," Ezra said, and the nervousness of public speaking must've canceled out the nervousness he always felt around Sabine, because he dared to look her in the eyes as he said, "my best friend, Sabine."
She almost seemed surprised as he said it, and she looked at him with an awe in her eyes that he'd never thought she'd give him, almost as though he was her hero instead of the other way around.
"I couldn't've done it without you," he said, his tone quiet, almost unable to get the words out. Though most of the people in attendance couldn't've heard him say it, Sabine did, and that was all that mattered.
He then turned back to the people and finished his speech, finding even more confidence in his words now.
"Five years ago, I never could've imagined we'd be free," he said, "and now we are. The Empire may wave its banners across the galaxy, but day by day their numbers dwindle, as long as people like you and me keep making a stand for freedom."
The crowd cheered, and Ezra figured it would be a good idea to end on a high note before he ran his mouth and got into even more trouble.
"Thank you all for coming and celebrating. Refreshments will be served in the square as soon as we wrap up the festivities."
Ezra stepped down from the podium so Ryder could give another brief speech. As he stepped down, he felt Sabine's hand on his arm. She pulled him off to the side, and he followed her gladly.
"Did you really mean that?" Sabine asked.
Ezra thought back to the last thing he'd said.
"That refreshments will be served in the square as soon as we wrap up?" Ezra asked, smiling at the prospect of free jogan fruit that he wouldn't have to steal, "of course."
"Not that," Sabine shook her head, "when you said I'm your best friend."
Her words had been quiet and unsure, but he made sure his response wasn't.
"Absolutely," Ezra said, "As long as that's okay with you."
"Of course," Sabine said, "you're my best friend too."
Ezra's knees went weak as her eyes met his. He'd done well so far in his attempts to keep himself from acting on his feelings for her, but he knew that if he lost himself in the corridors of her eyes for too much longer, he'd end up doing something really stupid. To even get to a place where Sabine let him call her his best friend had taken half a decade, and he didn't want his feelings to get in the way of their friendship.
He turned to walk away, but her hand on his shoulder stopped him. He made the mistake of looking in her eyes again.
"I'm really glad you didn't sacrifice yourself," Sabine said, smiling.
Sabine had scarcely smiled at him before, and she'd certainly never smiled at him like this.
 "Me too."
For anyone else in the galaxy, everyone else in the galaxy, Ezra had been willing to sacrifice himself, give up everything for their freedom and salvation. But for Sabine, Ezra had done something harder. All it took was one word from Sabine, and suddenly his sacrifice didn't seem like such a good idea anymore. In the moment when she'd found out about his plan and begged him not to go, he would've doomed the whole galaxy just to ensure her happiness. He didn't know why his life meant so much to her, but kriff it all if he didn't want to find out.
Despite the voice in the back of his head telling him to go, Ezra found himself, slowly, like approaching a wild loth deer, reaching towards her, his hand on the back of her neck and pulling him closer to himself. She had more than enough opportunity to stop him, to pull away or punch him in the gut, but she did the opposite. One second, she was a few inches away from him, and the next, her lips were on his.
Despite spending the last few years dreaming about this moment, now that it was happening, Ezra almost couldn't believe it. At first, he almost feared it was a moment of weakness they'd later regret, but the longer this kiss lasted, the more convinced Ezra was that this was the best moment of his whole entire life. He'd known that Sabine was an expert in explosions, but somehow he hadn't expected that same kind of spark to be found in her kiss, frying his entire brain in the most beautiful fireworks display imaginable.
She sighed as he pulled her even closer, and if that moment could've lasted forever, he couldn't've been happier.
But Sabine pulled away from him, quickly and suddenly. At first, Ezra wondered if it was Sabine's silent way of telling him he'd messed up and gone too far, but his senses quickly returned to him. The last minute or two had only been Sabine and Ezra, but now he remembered that there were other people in the galaxy. Trillions of them, in fact.
And millions of them were watching that exact moment.
Ezra quickly stepped away from her, hoping his expression wasn't as telling as he thought it was. They stood next to each other, though with more space in between them than Ezra really wanted.
Ezra leaned his head toward her, casually, trying not to draw attention to himself as they flashed their fake smiles to the people down below.
"Do you think they noticed?" he asked.
Then he saw a holo projector of their live stream down below, displaying a massively enlarged recording of their kiss, text beneath it reading "INSTANT REPLAY."
"This is the last time I let Jai run the holo stream for anything," Ezra thought. He noticed out of the corner of his eye as Sabine hid her face behind her hand, using sarcasm to cover her embarrassment.
"Yes, Ezra," she said, "I think they noticed."

*knocks on ur kitchen window* hi do you have ocs :0
I have two main sets of OCs: the Star Wars ones, and the kiddos from The Last, my Inkling Challenge project (that I really need to work on... 😬) so, I shall split this up and give you some introductions!!!
Ember Squadron (Star Wars AU):
ok so first of all, Greer, Joph, and Jacen are all canon characters that I just wanted to play with lol, so: Greer is a former racing pilot turned Leia's head of senatorial staff turned one of the first members of the Resistance. Joph is another pilot and an absolute cinnamon roll who has a crush on Greer (and is also kinda a fanboy of her racing career shsjdndjs) and inserts himself into the Resistance during the same events that spark it — the events of the novel Bloodline by Claudia Gray. Jacen is the son of Hera and Kanan (RIP Kanan) from Rebels and I just wanted to have him around bc he and Joph would be Bros(TM). @fortes-fortuna-iogurtum and I have talked about this a bit lol
now onto the actual OCs!!! there are... not many of them
Tina, who is my imagined kid for if Ezra and Sabine (from Rebels) were to get married — she's the squadron's mechanic and a decent pilot in her own right, with Jedi training and a mild-mannered but spunky personality and is also really good at close combat, like hand-to-hand or lightsaber fights
Ri'an is a somewhat jaded Chiss boy (@ladythespera i have a Chiss OC 👀) who can and will ramble about any of his hyperfixations areas of expertise, which include histories and folklore of various planets as well as a lot of the math necessary for fighter pilots. he takes a while to come out of his shell and is generally pretty prickly, but he bonds with Joph pretty quickly
annnnnd Luca (who may get a name change at some point but also idk) is a Mirialan with a bubbly personality and probably a bit too much energy and need to "win" — she's never met a dare she wouldn't take and can be challenging and combative towards the others (esp. Jacen, who she sees as "the golden boy" of the group because his whole family are Rebellion heroes) but she's also a friendly person
I haven't actually.... *written* anything with these guys, but I do want to someday. I just need to figure out how to give Ri'an a full Chiss name (i don't even know if the apostrophe in his shortened name is technically proper SHDJDJDKSKS I need to check Wookiepedia) now.....
The Last (my original fiction story):
ok fair warning, this is a LARGE ENSEMBLE CAST because it's based on an RP/collaborative writing thing i was a part of at one point
Tara, who is blatantly based on me but WAY cooler shdjdndsj. she's a computer prodigy and the daughter of one of the people who originally found The Last (the like... dubiously magical artifact the story is centered around) — her parents were killed when she was young, though, but they left her (not *just* her, but-) advice, a safe house, and the Last itself.
Topaz is the second in command of their "team" of Last guardians and has known Tara since they were kids. their parents knew each other too, bc Topaz' were also involved with the first generation of people protecting the Last and were killed on the same trip/mission. Topaz is pretty mild-mannered, can be serious, but also does Not take good enough care of himself
Willow is the ACTUAL leader of their team, because she met Tara and Topaz when they were like?? 11 or 12 or something idk, their ages aren't all the same. anyway, she pestered them enough and was trustworthy enough to find out about the Last and she's far more inclined to a leadership, so...yeah. Willow is very petite but bold and can be brash and abrasive, but she really does care about her friends and their mission.
Amberly, the youngest member of the squad; idk how she joined them but she's like a little sister. she's pretty optimistic and is quiet, but not necessarily *shy*, if you get my drift (hehe.... drift 😏)
LARRY MY BELOVED!!!! Larry is an absolute sweetie, a bit of a goofball and very comfortable in his role as the "comic relief" of the group. he's also a mechanic, and is really really good at being a friend to whoever needs one. also, he's a great cook
Zach, who shows up a couple (planned) chapters into the story, is someone Willow met who has a family history with the Last too — most of these kiddos do. his parents were a doctor and an FBI agent, and Zach is following in his dad's footsteps to become a doctor. he's pretty academic and can be uncertain and his loyalties are a bit divided, but because of his history he has a fierce determination to protect the Last.
INTERMISSION BC THERE'S SO MANY KIDS (hopefully I can juggle them all in my writing sjdkdjsksjsk)
Violet is the leader of the OTHER team, who tend to be at odds with Willow's group. she's fairly solemn but can be snarky, and was raised with a very firm direction toward protecting the Last, but from a more... militaristic? I guess? angle than any of the others
Mason, Violet's second in command. he's really just some dude. he's a nice guy and doesn't particularly like being at odds with Willow's team, and is actually fairly friendly toward them tbh. he kinda balances out how hard Violet can be and is the voice of common sense
Promise is Violet's younger sister, but she didn't get the same upbringing before their mom died, and Violet has always tried to protect her from it even when clinging to it herself. Promise is pretty quick and curious but also very sweet and loyal to her sister.
Chance, who's also sorta just some guy??? there's a lot of Guys in this story lol. Chance is a big sweetie, the most recent addition to Vi's team; he and Mason get along pretty well and he also likes the other team. he's loyal enough to Violet that she trusts him, but he's not always totally sure about her attitude lol
and... unless I'm forgetting somebody, that's all of them!!! they're all very very fun characters and dynamics to write — I'm always open for asks talking about any of them (👀 ask me about ships 👀) if you want!!!
I'm working on the next segment of the story and hopefully I can post it soon, so at some point maybe I'll take prompts with my OCs

okay I'm supposed to be asleep right now but I thought it would be interesting to come back to this post so here I am.
I think I wrote this after episode 2 or 3 premiered? now we're post episode 5, so I thought I'd continue to share my thoughts about the ahsoka series here.
so as I said in my initial post, I'm still concerned.
don't get me wrong, episodes 4 and 5 — especially 5 — are very good episodes of star wars. Hayden was fantastic, he looked AMAZING, and I was very happy to see him, along with Rex for the TCW flashbacks! those were really cool :) and Ariana Greenblatt did an incredible job playing young Ahsoka :')
it is nice to see Ahsoka open up more after going through her whole WBW/Anakin experience. I'm interested to see how that plays out for the last three episodes, and how it'll impact her interactions with Sabine, especially since what Sabine did is like. not good.
gonna be completely honest and say that I was (am?) really frustrated about what Sabine did in episode 4 like. just knowing her character from Rebels, knowing that she's really smart and calculated and is FULLY aware of the sacrifices that not only Ezra made but also Kanan???? like girl, come on.
she literally threw away EVERYTHING by giving Baylan the map. Like I know she's thinking about wanting to bring Ezra home and everything but she also knows why he's in that galaxy in the first place. she knows just how dangerous thrawn is. she knows what ezra sacrificed, and she's willing to undo it all just because she wants to see him again? it just feels so unlike her.
and yeah I've seen people make the argument that sabine being so different can be a result of her trauma/what she's been through since the end of rebels but like. the dots are not connecting. if the show wants to make this argument, it has to give us more context about what happened between the end of rebels and the beginning of this series. just randomly dropping the fact that sabine's family died because of something ahsoka did in an almost throwaway line doesn't feel like enough to me. I'm gonna assume they'll go into this eventually but. yeah.
as for what I said in the original post about my concerns about how the show treats the Jedi Order? yeah, I'm still concerned about that. maybe since Ahsoka is doing better now she might speak positively about them but idk I doubt it. plus if she did do that, it wouldn't necessarily take away from what the show has already done to imply that she's just better than them all.
anyways, TLDR, the ahsoka series is good! but I'm still concerned about the same things that I've been concerned about and I'm not going to let how good the show is overshadow the fact that I am concerned, if that makes sense?
oh and also disaster trio in live action when.
okay I didn't sleep very well which means that this is the perfect time for me to write a very obnoxiously long post about my very complicated feelings about ahsoka (both the show and the character).
there will be vague spoilers for what we've seen for the show so far (as of this writing, the first three episodes).
okay
also this will definitely be ramble-y and probably a bit controversial? idk man it's the star wars fandom, I'm sure to piss someone off regardless of what I say here, and I don't really care.
anyways
I'm gonna start with a simple statement.
I don't like the idea of one Jedi being better than another.
Clarification: Obi-Wan is by and large my favorite character of all time. He is my favorite Jedi. However, in my eyes, that does not make him better than all the other Jedi. That does not make him a better Jedi than all the others that we've seen in canon, just because I (or a lot of us in this specific fandom circle) like him.
make sense?
okay cool.
In a similar sense, Ahsoka is not better than all the other Jedi, including all the ones who taught her and helped shape her to who she ultimately becomes. Don't get me wrong, she is an incredible character who has gone through so much and has survived it all. And I take comfort in her character nearly as much as I take comfort in Obi-Wan's.
The way the show is going so far seems to imply that the approach that she's taking with Sabine by training her at all, when Huyang has said multiple times that the Jedi of old (ie. up until the end of the Clone Wars) would not have trained her, is absolutely the right and wonderful thing to do. So the fact that Ahsoka has previously taken this chance on Sabine and is doing so again seems to imply (to me, at least) that she is better than all the Jedi who came before her, since all of them would not have done such a thing.
The whole Sabine being practically Force-null thing but still trying to be a Jedi is a whole other conversation for another post, but…a part of me is intrigued by the idea, I guess? But I still feel like it steps back on her characterization in Rebels, and I am worried about the direction they're ultimately going to take with her.
Add this to the fact that the show demonstrates that Ahsoka has complicated feelings about the Jedi Order and being a Jedi. The fact that she calls Sabine her Padawan (a Jedi term afaik) eases my concerns slightly, maybe? I don't think it's clear quite yet how she feels about the whole thing.
But all of this stems from what happened to her during the Wrong Jedi arc.
And in the lead-up to this show, I rewatched that arc. On this rewatch, I felt a lot of sympathy for what Ahsoka goes through. She's on her own for most of the time that she's on the run, and obviously I can't say what would have happened if she'd chosen not to run away and investigate to the extent that she did, but it does seem to pile up even more evidence against her — but it also gave Anakin the stepping stones that he needed to figure out it was Barriss and Barriss the opportunity to sort of expose herself as the culprit. Like if Ahsoka hadn't run away to the lower levels to try to figure it out, would she have been better off?
We don't know. I'm not gonna make assumptions.
As for the Order and the Council, I'm going to say about that arc what I've said before: they were placed in an impossible situation. The war has drained them of the trust the public had once had in them, their dependence on the Senate made it so that they couldn't go against them.
Ahsoka says in the arc that she believes that no one in the Order fought for her, besides maybe Anakin. Yet we literally see Obi-Wan tell the Council that they can't expel her, we see the Council invite her back after her name is cleared because they still see her as one of them. A Jedi.
And yes, maybe they could have done something differently to change things. Maybe they could have taken a stand with Ahsoka against Tarkin and all the other Senators who called for Ahsoka's expulsion/trial. Maybe they could have refused to expel her to prevent all of that from happening.
But I can't imagine that things would have gone well for them or for Ahsoka if they'd done that.
Needless to say, Ahsoka could have done things differently to lead to a better outcome, and the Council could have, as well — but we don't actually know if it would have worked.
Putting all of that aside though, the way Ahsoka's character is approached after the Wrong Jedi arc aired is changed drastically, compared to how it was approached before that arc. Which makes sense, since she walks away from the life she knows and has to figure things out and all that. I know it must have been really tough for her, walking away.
Ahsoka's arc in Rebels is beautiful. I love it. The way she contends with the knowledge that Vader is Anakin, ultimately leading up to her duel with him and her sacrificing herself so that Ezra and Kanan can get away? It's so heart-wrenching to me, even now. Learning that Ezra ultimately saves her with the WBW made me so happy because she is such an important character to me, and to see her ultimately die at Vader's hand would have been completely heartbreaking.
And to see her again the Rebels epilogue, with the implication that she survives the events of the OT, was one of the most glorious endings I've seen in Star Wars. Just thinking about it makes me smile.
But after this is where the cracks begin to form for me.
We go back to Season 7 of TCW. I found the Martez sisters arc pretty fun, having rewatched it recently. However, there is this plot point of Ahsoka seeing that the Jedi are not doing anything for the people of Coruscant, since they're. you know. busy fighting a galaxy wide war and all that. (Also like the welfare of Coruscant's people is not strictly the Jedi's responsibility like assuming Coruscant has a Senator or maybe even the Chancellor would also have some level of responsibility, yeah? but people love to blame the Jedi for their problems, in and out of universe).
Anyways, the arc indicates that the Jedi are in the wrong, even though, once again, they're in this impossible situation for one thing, and they're also being "blamed" for things that aren't even their fault? And Ahsoka is like the only person who can see that so now it makes her better than all of them?
We see that play out a bit at the beginning of the Siege of Mandalore arc (which is still incredibly painful to me, thanks). We see Bo-Katan take shots at Obi-Wan for literally just saying that he has to speak to the Council about her request (I could be remembering wrong, I'm trying to double check this but youtube is literally refusing to load right now), and Ahsoka just stands there and lets it happen because "wow why are they not helping us how dare they be busy with a war omg after everything they've done to me"
And to be fair to ahsoka, it hasn't been that long since TWJ and it's totally valid for her to still be upset about it! I guess it's just painful to see especially for me because I've always loved Obi-Wan and Ahsoka's dynamic and it was just. yeah.
And yeah, Ahsoka decides to do the same to Obi-Wan later on when he says they have to go to Coruscant because their people are in danger, and Ahsoka's upset that they're not prioritizing Mandalore's people over Coruscant. Which like. Coruscant's people literally includes the two sisters you became friends with last week Ahsoka what do you mean —
anyways
in those opening moments of the siege of mandalore, it's clear that she still has a lot of emotions over what happened, and Obi-Wan takes the brunt of that. let's also not forget that she doesn't seem to want to talk to Anakin until later on, yeah?
and the way it's framed in the show, they really make it seem like ahsoka's in the right for treating Anakin and Obi-Wan like this. Like they deserve it for doing something differently than her.
When Mace Windu calls her a citizen when she LITERALLY called herself that first, people say he deserves to die? like what the fuck? it's not that serious y'all.
It's like Ahsoka has suddenly become the perfect character who can do nothing wrong ever and any time another character tries to go against that, it's implied that she's in the right and she's better than them all, actually. it's canon because dave filoni says it is.
skipping over the mando and tbobf episodes mostly because I don't have much to say about those episodes as it relates to this topic, this brings us back to the ahsoka show today.
I think it's a beautiful show with incredible music. like I'm obsessed with the end credits music. the premise is extremely interesting. I do think it should have been animated, even though the actors have worked extremely hard to get the characters down and I've literally seen how excited and passionate they are about the project while watching their interviews in-person at star wars celebration, I don't think it would ever feel the same as having the original voice actors back for all the characters.
that being said, I'm enjoying the show so far, but I am concerned. I'm worried about what the show is going to communicate about the Jedi Order and that it's going to continue to imply that Ahsoka is better and knows better than all the Jedi who brought her to where she is now.
I hope that the show is able to communicate that Ahsoka wants to be respectful of those Jedi, instead, and that they paint the concept of being a Jedi in a more positive light, instead of continuing to imply all this negativity.
I love the Jedi, and I just wish we got to see more of them in a positive light in canon.

I'm re-watching Rebels and can I just give a shout out to our girl Hera, and the 100% chance that she absolutely RUINS Kanan on the reg. Like the episode where she gets the title of Captain and Kanan gives a little smirk and says something like "Congrats Captain Syndulla". Absolutely got pinned to the mattress and owned that night by our queen. Feel like he can't call her that in public anymore without them having to make a quick exit to go... handle... some stuff. 👌👌👌
Definitely doesn't hurt that I would do anything she asked of me and I definitely wouldn't be upset if she tied me up, stuffed me full of a vibrating toy, and rode my face until she just couldn't anymore all while calling me a good girl or pretty girl. 🥵
Your writing gives me similar vibes (no pun intended) to both of those scenarios, and I guess that makes you on level with Hera in my book which is a good place to be.
I'm gonna excuse myself now...
Oh GOD YEAH you know she fucking ruins him at least once a week, probably way more tbh
And yeah absolutely same. I'd let her do anything she wanted to me
Hkjdkkfljhfs you're not wrong??? I haven't written them exactly, but it's only a matter of time before I write something similar. Would it surprise you to know I've done one of these?
Also you don't need to excuse yourself. I like this!

You mentioned that you've come to have more empathy for Yoday but still wouldn't recommend him as a direct master for anyone. What were/are your biggest issues with him? There are several I could guess, and probably some I agree with, but I don't want to assume.
Ahahahaha. I’m in a ranty mood this week, so it’s a great time to tackle this ask! Here’s more than anyone ever wanted to know about my Yoda Feels.
My problems with Yoda come down to a couple things.
We have entirely different learning/teaching styles.
I have zero tolerance for cryptic shavit when there’s *actual communication* that needs to happen.
A lot of Yoda’s behaviors make sense when viewed in the context of the PT but I formed most of my opinions based on the OT before the PT was a Thing.
I don’t agree with the approach Yoda took in swanning off to Dagobah post RotS. AT ALL.
Different Learning/Teaching Styles
(In ESB) Yoda very much follows the Greek and Buddhist styles of teaching where masters ask questions that don’t necessarily have solid answers. This is a valid style and something @atamascolily consistently captures gorgeously in her fics. It also absolutely makes me want to stab people.
I’m like Mara Jade: a task-oriented learner. I want to know what I’m supposed to learning/mastering, why, how I’ll demonstrate success, and what the checkpoints are along the way. Meandering philosophical debates as part of an ill-defined training process are maddening. As noted, as I get older I am more accepting of this as a legit style and just not for me; this makes Yoda more sympathetic as a character but not any less annoying.
Also, when Luke asks honest and reasonable questions in ESB (like “why”) Yoda shuts him down flat and I’m extremely not okay with that. Luke is being genuine and respectful despite his own frustrations and as someone who is committing his life to the Jedi path he has both a right and a need to know things. Demanding blind faith when there are or should be reasonable answers of some kind is Not Okay.
Just Communicate Dammit!
With Ben Kenobi and Bail Organa gone, Yoda was the only person around holding a lot of key information. Did he share that information? Nope. He wandered around being a cryptic little troll “because Luke wasn’t ready” despite knowing full well that his health was failing. He gave Luke none of the information he actually needed to make informed decisions and didn’t even freaking write anything down!!
From a Doylist perspective, this is obviously largely because George Lucas et al hadn’t figured out any of the backstory yet. From a Watsonian perspective, this is unforgivable.
If your time is short (as his time with Luke was destined to be no matter how things went), it is critically important to be clear and use your time well. Yoda just didn’t.
Obnoxious Troll vs Grandpa Frog
The PT very much sets Yoda up as Grandpa Frog, a beloved grandfather figure who teaches the younglings regularly and who everyone understands as mischievous but loving. Viewed in that sense, a lot of how he treats Luke in ESB makes sense… but it doesn’t make it okay.
The younglings at the Temple literally grew up around the Force and Yoda. Luke did not. Luke didn’t even know WTF the Force was until he was almost 20. He got like 24 hours of introduction to it before Ben died. Compliments of Palpatine and the Purge and the war, there is almost no information available to him between ANH and ESB except what he figures out himself. Yet Yoda treats him like a disappointment and a failure for not understanding the scope of the Force and having doubts about its power.
Guess what? If Luke had grown up in the Temple, yeah, he’d be all about raising X-wings out of swamps. But he didn’t. He grew on repressed for his own safety on a farm in the middle of nowhere without a hint of a clue.
Now, through the lens of the PT, I can see Luke being a frustrating student for Yoda. He’s used to getting younglings who have been exposed to and trained in the Force by a range of other Jedi. Starting with an older student suffering from a ton of trauma and without any of the basics that he has to train in less than a fraction of the time shaping a Jedi would normally take is a massive undertaking and he’s old and tired besides. The whole family history with Vader wouldn’t make it any easier.
But you know what? Luke is young. He left his found family in the middle of a war and is undergoing hugely stressful training in the middle of a swamp so that he can shoulder even bigger burdens. Yoda has had 20 years of (mostly) downtime to deal with his own trauma and at least several hundred years of practice being a teacher and a leader. He’s the one in a position to improve things and accommodate and he doesn’t. I’m not okay with that.
Let’s Talk About That Downtime BTW
Again, from a Doylist perspective, I get why Yoda was hanging out on Dagobah, why he used things like visions to communicate with people like Kanan, Ezra, etc. periodically, and why he was Luke’s mentor in ESB/RotJ.
From a Watsonian view, though, I’m not freaking impressed. He was the Grandmaster. He was heartbroken over the Jedi and Padawans he couldn’t save. But what did he do for the remaining ones spread across the galaxy? Shavit, that’s what. Kanan, Cal Kestis, Feris Olan, all the Jedi/Padawans who got kidnapped and twisted into Inquisitors — they were on their freaking own while Yoda swanned off to Dagobah.
Oh, sure, he’d pop up in a vision here or there or whatever, but he had a safe place. And, apparently, the ability to reach at least some of them some of the time (see: visions and his connections to people like Bail Organa). Do I think any of those people probably wanted to live on Dagobah? Not particularly. But I think they’d have appreciated the safety and the chance to reconnect with what remained of their Jedi family, even if only briefly.
But no. Yoda hangs out, waiting for the day the twins are old enough to take on the responsibility to kill Vader/Palpatine and then… does nothing?! He just keeps hanging out even after both Luke and Leia have lost everything, lets them get all settled into the Rebellion without a word, and THEN has the nerve to be cranky and disgruntled when he actually does get one of them to train!!
YOU MADE CHOICES YOU LITTLE FROG TROLL. DON’T TAKE THEM OUT ON THE PEOPLE YOU DENIED CHOICES FOR 20 YEARS.
I’m Not Entirely Without Compassion, I Swear
*sigh* I have seen a lot of Yoda meta in recent years that makes me appreciate Yoda for what he was during the PT. He really *was* everybody’s loving Grandpa who worked for centuries to love on the Jedi, protect them, and take care of them well. He legit wanted all of them to be happy and safe… and his suffering when the Purge happened must have been unimaginable. Like Luke and Leia, he lost everything.
Unlike the twins, he didn’t get to rebuild or find a new family. While I believe what we have in the EU suggests he found peace and solace and a new home of Dagobah that was genuinely soothing to his wounded soul, he was alone and (whether he was or not) he did feel mostly helpless to do anything for his few scattered Jedi grandchildren who remained and suffered across the galaxy. He did face decisions in which there *weren’t* good, clear-cut answers.
I think if I’d met him first in the PT or meta I might have liked him better. But I still wouldn’t ever recc him as a Master for any character I like because I can’t imagine learning under him being an experience I would ever wish on anyone simply based on my own vehement loathing for his personal teaching style. I know there are people in the world who would thrive on that approach and I like to think I’ve got a good imagination, but I simply can’t conceptualize it as a positive, productive experience.
*As an end note, if you DO like Yoda or want to like him better please go read @atamascolily‘s fics, seriously. You’ll love them!

Okay, there's more to this AU, which I am now dubbing the Star Wrecks AU, and I am here to elaborate.
When it comes to Star Trek, aside from two seasons of TOS, I've only seen one episode years ago with a lady who read minds and a guy with really cool... like, glasses, or something (i think his name started with a G, i want to call him George but idk), another with the facepalm meme guy, and of course also the lizard babies episode (though i have since been informed that it was actually salamander babies, which is even funnier). So, for the sake of my limited knowledge, we're saying it's the original Enterprise squad who gets yoinked to the GFFA.
(Also, a tribble comes with them.)
The Enterprise runs into the Ghost, and for some reason that I haven't decided yet--maybe a plot-induced technical malfunction or something--the Spectres get beamed aboard.
(Ezra, who is fourteen and just recently joined the crew, immediately acquires the tribble.)
Hera explains the situation to Captain Kirk while Kanan and Spock get into a philosophical discussion, and Kirk, who is already mentally preparing a hammy speech about Freedom and Democracy, is instantly down to throw hands with the Empire, at least for a little while until they figure out how to get back.
(Ezra names the tribble Fluffbert.)
They start making their plan of what to do and where to start.
(Fluffbert has babies and is quickly renamed Fluffberta.)
Hera contacts Fulcrum, who realizes that they may have just acquired a fantastic asset, and decides to come see for herself.
(Ezra searches out the ship's doctor--he wouldn't be a responsible pet owner if he didn't make sure all of Fluffberta's babies were healthy! Plus, maybe Dr. Bones can tell him what kind of animal this is?)
(He can.)
The door to the bridge opens and McCoy storms in.
"Captain," he says to Kirk. "That boy has a TRIBBLE."
"An inadvisable acquisition," Spock remarks. "Does he know not to feed it too much?"
"That thing needs to be off this ship," McCoy says, at which point Ezra runs in, with an armful of tribbles.
"You can't get rid of Fluffberta!" he protests.
Sabine, who sees the two white tribble babies and instantly thinks hair dye, hops off her perch on the railing and asks if she can have them.
"Oh, you mean Fuzzwilliam and Squeakerella? Sure! Do you think Zeb would want some, too? Hey! Kanan! I think Furatio likes you!"
Kirk is considering the impact that introducing a dangerous species to an entirely new universe could have, and briefly wonders if they have the same effect on these "Sith Lords" that they do on Klingons.
Then Fulcrum arrives, expecting to discuss business. Instead, she gets a flashback.
"Oh.... I think Fives bought one of these once. Captain, are these the little furballs that make an ungodly number of babies?"
"Yes," says Kirk, a little relieved that they have not actually introduced tribbles to this universe.
She picks one up. It radiates calmness and soothing feelings through the Force.
"That one's Pufftricia," Ezra says. "You can keep her, if you want."
Random thought that came to me today: part 2
Star Wars/Star Trek crossover AU where a Star Trek crew (I've only seen bits and pieces of various shows so i can't be more specific) ends up in Star Wars and there's lots of action-packed fights and space battles and fancy flying and adventures. However, that's all in the background of the main plot, which is that Ezra Bridger gets a tribble.

Okay, so, in Ahsoka/Anakin's defense here, I don't think what Ahsoka is saying with that quote is that people who'd met or knew Anakin didn't think he was kind at all. I think the implication is more that Anakin is probably more well known for being loud, brash, impulsive, spontaneous, good at using a lightsaber, into mechanics and flying, etc. He doesn't have a lot of moments where he's particularly SOFT and he's someone who tends to rush and jump into things VERY decisively with some very strong opinions. He also has a tendency to show affection for people (aside from Padme to some degree) with things like teasing banter rather than more obviously kind words.
Ahsoka's saying that people would've been surprised by HOW kind she thinks he was, by the kindness that he perhaps showed less publicly, or was less obvious if you didn't know him well. Not that people generally thought he was an unkind person. You might say something similar about someone who's much more reserved, for example, and so people's first impression of them is perhaps that they are stand-offish and aloof.
So this isn't really a red flag moment for me so much as it's just ironic, which it's intended to be because obviously the audience is entirely aware that the person she's talking about is Darth Vader, he's not kind anymore. It's also SUPPOSED to be tragic because you're supposed to be like "Yeah it's really sad, he used to be so much kinder than people realized and now all of that is gone" or something to that ilk.
I'd also probably say that, while Ahsoka's apprenticeship is obviously sadly mired in Anakin's somewhat unintentional lessons about mistrust and attachment, she DID have an entire upbringing with the Jedi that didn't include Anakin at all. She does have a foundation of Jedi teachings that she brings to that apprenticeship with Anakin. Some of it gets undone, yes, but what I liked about the arc with Trace and Rafa in season 7 is that we see that when Ahsoka is left to her own devices, her instinct is to act like a typical Jedi. She has compassion, she wants to step in and help, she'll sacrifice herself for others even if they wouldn't do the same for her. I think there are choices Ahsoka makes that are LESS Jedi-like all across the media she's been in (TCW, Rebels, Mandalorian) but there are also choices she makes that are entirely Jedi-like, too. She's struggling, struggling against some of what Anakin's taught her coming up against what she's been raised to believe.
And like you said, a lot of this is about identity for Ahsoka. Her identity as a Jedi and her identity as Anakin's (former) Padawan. The two SHOULD go together, should sort-of coalesce into one thing, they should've complemented each other. But I personally believe that a lot of the problems Ahsoka encounters from The Wrong Jedi on are all about her identity as Anakin's Padawan causing her to be at odds with her identity as a Jedi.
In The Wrong Jedi, she's acting so much more as Anakin's Padawan than she is as a Jedi, and it gets her in trouble and by the end of it she says she doesn't know how to trust HERSELF anymore. She has no idea what it even means to her to be a Jedi at this point, but in the season 7 Trace and Rafa arc, we start to see that there's so many things about Ahsoka that are just ingrained in her as part of her personality that are from the Jedi. They're a lot more similar to how a Jedi would act than how Anakin would act in the same situation. In Rebels, she's mostly acting like a Jedi even if she refuses the label. She helps Kanan and Ezra out, she's constantly sort-of joining them on specifically Jedi-related missions, she promises to protect the Force-sensitive children together WITH Kanan because it's what the Jedi Order used to do. But then Anakin walks onto Malachor, she recognizes him under the mask, and all of that falls away. In that moment, she is Anakin's Padawan, not a Jedi. And by the time we get to the Mandalorian, Ahsoka is refusing to train a Force sensitive child, refusing to even offer them PROTECTION, because they remind her too much of Anakin. However, by The Book of Boba Fett, she's giving Din very Jedi-like advice.
Ahsoka's apprenticeship has put her somewhat at odds with her upbringing, with the culture that made her so much of who she is. She'll never be able to find peace until she lets go of being Anakin's apprentice, until she can walk away from letting her identity and her story revolve around Anakin and fully embrace being a Jedi again.
It's so interesting to look at just HOW BLIND Ahsoka's loyalty towards Anakin truly is.
She is told point blank by Maul that the Sith Master is planning to make Anakin his new apprentice, and her reaction is NOT to warn anybody that this is a potential problem for them to look into but simply to reject the possibility so entirely that it's not even worth warning anyone about. She's so absolutely convinced of this that she dooms the entire Jedi Order and the Republic they serve by keeping it secret in order to protect Anakin from even a SUSPICION of him going dark.
She then HEARS Anakin betray Mace, she hears Anakin turn on Mace and side with Palpatine just moments before Order 66 goes out. And while it's mildly understandable that she could come to other conclusions from that without any more knowledge and just assume Anakin died, she continues to refuse to believe that Anakin became Vader when she senses him despite that evidence.
She spends a YEAR trying to disprove what she already knows to be true, what she could put together from Maul's claims, her vision on the ship just moments before Order 66, and sensing his presence in Rebels. She goes ahead and tells Ezra that what would've surprised people about him was his KINDNESS, despite the fact that she is actively looking for proof that Anakin DIDN'T genocide the Jedi because she's like 99.99% sure that he DID and she's desperately telling herself that no, Anakin was KIND, he would NEVER commit genocides.
This is someone who put her in a training regime where she is knocked out for hours at a time by her own men, forced her into training after being knocked out without a rest beforehand, and left her on the ground after being knocked out with no attempt at making sure she was safe or comfortable. This is someone she has WATCHED go nearly apoplectic with rage more than once, someone she has seen keep himself from murdering people by the skin of his teeth.
And when she comes face to face with him, a year after looking for proof, despite all evidence she's got pointing her to one super obvious and irrefutable conclusion, she LETS HIM convince her that he's NOT Anakin, that he KILLED Anakin, because her blind loyalty to Anakin will let her believe anything rather than face the truth she's on some level known since she was seventeen years old.
AND THEN, after getting all of that loyalty thrown back in her face, after her worst fear is confirmed true and Anakin decides to keep TRYING to kill her, that blind loyalty leads her to decide she'd rather die than live with this truth. She'd rather die FOR HIS SAKE, to keep him from having to be alone, than run away from him again.
Anakin could do quite literally anything to Ahsoka and she'd forgive it. Anakin DOES do just about every possible horrific thing to Ahsoka he COULD do and she's more worried about not abandoning him than anything else still. Ahsoka can recognize he's a Sith who has done horrific things to her and everyone else but because he's ANAKIN, her loyalty is still first and foremost to him and his happiness and his wellbeing. She will abandon the Jedi again, abandon Kanan and Ezra, before she abandons the person actively trying to kill her.
It's so interesting to see that, the one time she DOESN'T do this is in the Wrong Jedi, when she leaves him behind and puts her own needs first.
And THAT'S what she seems to consider her greatest mistake. Not leaving the JEDI, not TRUSTING Anakin at all, but abandoning Anakin when she was at her lowest. Because her blind loyalty to him won't let her see it as anything but a betrayal of ANAKIN.
Ahsoka CANNOT see him for what and who he is, she CAN'T. She's been ignorant of it before, but she also intentionally blinds herself to it over and over again.
