Yea this is AOTS.
Inori’s faces when she gets disappointed or overwhelmed are so fucking funny I love her sm. I love how her coach constantly tries to reassure her and give her confidence. He’s literally the ideal coach for a young girl. It’s also so cool that this show gives us an MC who has raw talent but behind on a lot of the fundamentals so that seeing her grow and ultimately reach that level where Hikaru is will feel that much sweeter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again wouldn’t be a sports anime if rivals weren’t popping up everywhere for Inori. Mike’s a great addition to the cast and adds some fire. I think there’s a very big healthy middle ground between her absolute disdain for adults and being told what to do and where Inori currently is in not being able to make her own choices.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like clearly both of them have some trauma that has pushed them to these extremes and hopefully they’ll be able to grow and see you don’t have to be on the extremes. Inori already seems to be getting better at making her own choices like picking which program she wants to focus on for prelims. Tsukasa again being a great coach and giving her encouragement to be her own person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love the idea of inori just going with the stuff she’s good at for the prelim and building on that rather than reinventing the wheel. Ultimately execution matters more than just throwing in tricks for the sake of it. Go for it Inori we’re all rooting for you.

Playlist listened to while writing; https://spotify.link/WzxvdTKBCJb
Holy shit dude, the ceo of rei angst wrote some rei angst what the HELL!! We have to kill her guys she cant keep getting away with this.
Anyways im gonna be writing about a lot of these nerds. I just love rei. This is really rushed and I am really sleepy so it is not my best writing.
Also i cannot write teruya so you will habe to ppppUT UP WITH IT.
Warnings for like. Violence and my attempt at writing a breakdown.
-
Rei held the rusty pipe like a baseball bat, swinging for a homerun as she smacked off the head of someone she once knew. Someone who had abandoned her long ago.
The rotting head of what used to be her mother rolled on the ground, sickly green skin squishing against the ground and stared up at her with lifeless eyes.
“I didn’t want to see you again like this,” Rei hissed as her chest heaved, “i wanted to see you staring with regret as you saw your daughter on top of the world. I didn’t want to kill you or see you dead.”
That had been the second time she had run into her zombified mother. The first, she had been a coward, unable to kill her and her father– the two people she hated most, the two people who had abandoned her and left her on the streets.
Where had all her rage gone that time. When had she become soft.
-
Midori clung to Ryutaro with all the strength in her frail body. “My brother,” she whispered, “i saw my brother’s corpse down there. Kakeru… he… they got Kakeru… they killed Kakeu…”
He didn’t say much in return, but he did pat her hand briefly– the only comforting action he could manage while carrying her.
“I see a store up ahead. Let’s stop by there for supplies.” Keisuke pointed out to the leader of the bunch.
Setsuka patted the clown on the back and gave him a smile. “Sounds good, lead the way. Maki, do you need me to carry Yamaguchi for a bit?”
Midori wrapped her arms and legs around Ryutaro a bit tighter at the suggestion, very much attached to the guy who had found her and saved her from zombies.
“I’ll be fine until we reach the stop.” The blonde nodded his acknowledgement to the bluenette, forcing a smile as he struggled to catch up.
The group walked in silence for a bit, the only sounds being the orchestra of distant zombie groans.
“Miss Yamaguchi,” Hikaru said after bit, his tone fatherly like usual, “may I check your pulse soon? And may I check if the swelling on your ankles has gone down?”
“Yeah, that… sounds good. Thank you, Uncle.”
-
Kanata removed the bandages from Ayame’s arm gradually.
“There isn’t any sign of infection, Hatano. Kinjo and Maki are still out, so… uhm… can I get you something to eat?” The surgeon spoke softly as she stared at the sprinter.
“I’m not hungry…” Ayame mumbled.
“Inori!” Tomori slammed the door open, her eyes sunken from lack of sleep, “i think i got bit. Check! Check, please!!”
Kanata bit back a sigh of exasperation and forced out her cheerful smile. “Of course. Where do you think you were bit this time?”
“My ankle. They went after my ankle so I couldn’t run! They’re going to eat me. I’m going to die, aren’t I? Oh, god, I’m going to die!” The cheerleader’s words were jumbled together and practically nonsensical. She grabbed onto Kanata’s shoulders as she spoke, her nails digging into the other’s lab coat and pressing her skin uncomfortably.
“Miss Tomori,” Kanata winced, “please let go of me. I will check your ankle, but I am sure you are fine.”
“I’m not fine!” Kizuna wailed before glaring accusatory daggers at Ayame. “If you… if you hadn't gotten yourself bitten! If you had just seen that bitch for what she is! We wouldnt be doomed! You’ve doomed us all!”
Ayame took the words without fighting back. What had been the point in fighting anymore? Kizuna was right. She had doomed them all.
“Miss Tomori, please… Taira had us all fooled… if Miss Hatano is to blame, then so are the rest of us…” the blonde murmured. “Please sit down so I can check your ankle…”
-
Mindless. Kinji was mindless. His faith had only been able to spare him for so long.
His teeth were decayed now. His skin was green and purple and yellow. His eyes were dull. His cheeks were sunken.
It was incredible that his mind stayed intact long enough for him to bury as many as he did. The only bodies he didn’t put 6 feet under, the only bodies he couldn’t handle burying, were those of the people he knew.
But what was the point?
-
Yuki held his stomach as he choked up and spat out the last meal he had, beans that had barelt even begun to digest.
“Urgh… gross…” he mumbled to himself.
Shinji was away at the moment, scouting out for the next safe place for them to go and likely trying to find his family in the process.
The lucky student fought back envious tears. At least they knew there was a chance that Shinji’s family was alive– they found his mother, Aiko, brutally murdered in the Maeda household. Her corpse was bloated and rotted when they found it.
The sight still haunted his dreams. He couldn’t even keep.meals down since he saw it.
-
Mikako peered into her brother’s lab. He hadn’t eaten in quite some time, nor had he slept.
“Yamato…” she whispered hesitantly.
He spun around with a dart ready in his hand. He only lowered it after he registered it was her.
“Mikako, I’ve told you to leave me alone. I need to find a cure, or no one will be safe.” The inventor turned back to his work and threw a crumpled up piece of paper to the side.
“I’m sure someone else is searching for a cure, Yamato. Why not try to make a vaccine? Some sort of immunity would help while someone else finds a cure.” The exorcist suggested.
Her brother didn’t seem to have heard. That, or he was ignoring her.
“Ah… nevermind.” She straightened her back and spun on her heel to hunt down their other classmates.
For the newcomers, Satsuki was putting on a performance– juggling empty bottles and broken gadgets whilst telling jokes. That could not be safe, but Haruhiko seemed to have his eyes on her.
The bunker door heaved open, and Teruya’s team came in, carrying boxes full of food and other supplies.
“We’re back with dinner!” The merchant shouted.
Mikako rushed over to take the box from him.
“Thank you, Otori, this should be good for at least a week. You and your scavenger team did good.”
He grinned at her and handed his box over. “Thanks! We uh…” he hesitated, “We saw Taira and Maeda… err… Utsuro? On our flight back… they looked like they were heading somewhere… dunno where…”
She bit her tongue and nodded thankfully at him. “Thank you for telling me.”
-
Thats it. Im hungry good bye.
Aw yeah infection Au moment! I do remember you saying a while back that you wanted to write something about Rei in this Au and MAN her part has gotta be my favorite out of these little snippets.
I really like taking a look at how a bunch of the cast is doing, seeing the way you wrote them in those situations was pretty fun! It reminded me how much i like the idea of Setsuka's like group with the 6.5 cast and how Kanata probably wishes she has a degree in psychology to properly deal with Ayame and Kizuna (she may feel as if she's not doing enough for them seing as her kindness can only bring her so far when dealing with their turmoil)
#i really like thinking about the voids + hibiki in this au too#i never explained this before because i wanted to draw something for it but oh well#basically at one point the voids (as in Nikei Hajime and Emma since Iroha has been zombified and ran away by now) steal some suplies from#Syobai's apocalypse mob. so he sends Kanade and Hibiki to “take care of them” for him#because Kanade has deal with Syobai where she's essentially works as his executor whenever he needs it#and in exchange he lets her take things rom his stocks when she pleases (she mainly takes weapons. the crazier the better)#and you know. Hibiki i in her puppet stage so she goes along#so the twins go after the voids in their mad max-esc apocalypse car and after a while Kanade manages to corner them#and Hibiki takes this opportunity to stab her in the back :) literally#because turns out Hibiki snapped out of her puppet stage at some point a while back. and seeing Kanades terrifying true nature#she wanted to put an end to her madness but for the time being she kept pretending to be under her control. because she wa looking for the#right opportunity to deal a killing blow without because Kanade is a better fighter than her#this opportunity turned out to be the voids! she explains the whole story to them and offers to do something for them to make up#for the hell Kanade and her put them through (chasing them around for several days and getting into fights)#so Hajime asks for her to hand over all of her supplies. Emma asks for the car. and Nikei asks her if she has any information about#a possible cure for the virus (because he feels somewhat guilty for what happened to Iroha) and Hibiki tells her she knows of a scientist#that's working on one and recives chemicals suplies from Syobai (because he wants this capitalize on this cure whenever it gets done)#So by Nikei's orders Hibiki tricks Mikado into giving her a stash of Kokoro's solution and goes with the voids in a search for Iroha#so that they can give her the prototype cure (which works just as a virus suppressant so far) before she reaches a stage where her mind is#too far gone. so overtime Hibiki essentially becomes a void member and she has friends again for the first time since forever#i like infection au Hibiki a lot. i had a sketch of her and Kanade somewhere i think#super danganronpa another 2#danganronpa another#dra#sdra2#zombie au#infection au#hyena ramblings

medalist review // spoilers
we're not just made of the things other people want from us: medalist glides through a writing filled with hope and love for the beauty of a sport so cruel for those who started too late.
Tumblr media
it's difficult to write about a manga that won me over so quickly. i was hoping to have some compassion for the story, but the way the characters opened up to me was much more intense than i imagined. and i believe that this is one of the ways in which medalist involves you in its story: it enchants you with its lovable and charming characters who dream of a promising future, but what grabs your attention is the dark secrets that hide themselves inside dreams.
in terms of writing, the story follows a well-established basis of sports manga. inori's plot begins with a typical line of an underdog beginning to blossom, who ends up surprising with a natural talent that ended up being crushed by insecurity or lack of opportunity. but what differs is that the person who will help her dig this search for gold is nothing more or less than a coach who doesn't believe in himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tsukasa finds his passion in inori's dreams, but doesn't let himself be carried away by the same insecurities that chained him. he sees himself completely surrounded by the light that she emanates, seeing no other way out than to help her grow more and more. the way in which their relationship grows and solidifies is so beautiful that it involves you to the point that you feel like you are in the shoes of that coach who saw a star born. the story not only gives you a vision of a dreamer, it transforms you into one — the image of the skating rink becomes so real that you feel cold.
but, what about him? what about his dreams and his own passion? is he really the failure he believe he is or he's just not exploring his talents to the maximum?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and it is not just the main characters that the story is sustained by: medalist manages to create a network of dreams that intertwine. the foundation of all the other skaters and coaches is so strong and solidified that it makes you want to know the story of one of them. and this becomes even clearer when we talk about rioh, the son of a skating star who overcomes the pressure of following in the same footsteps as his father; hikaru, who bewitches everyone with her magnificent jumps on the ice and immense solitude; or even jun yodaka, who gave his entire life to ice and can't quite let go of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there is still a lot to be developed and discovered, since, in my opinion, the story has just begun. there is still much to be discovered with tsukasa and his hidden talent, and much to be celebrated when inori finally wears olympic gold. can't wait to fall in love even more with the story and celebrate the falls and victories with them.
thank you for reading! don't forget to support the author if you can!!! 💛

The relationship dynamics in Medalist are so so good!!
This is for the entire manga, but I really love how Inori and Hikaru's relationship is growing in the recent chapters (specifically chp 49-50).
I love that their rivalry is so rooted in their friendship despite their big experience gap. That Hikaru is reaching out to Inori because she means so much to her, that Inori cares so much about what Inori thinks of her. That they're skating because they love it but also because they love that skating brought them together.
Also, Hikaru amd Jun's relationship is always so intriguing!
Like, even their first meeting has an air of mystery around it. The true motive for Jun coaching her is still not known, why he is making her walk the same path he took, but also sometimes doesn't seem to want her to do so? Is he maybe seeing what could have been through Hikaru? [though, with the fact that Hikaru compared Inori to Jun in terms of being so intrinsically tied to the ice, will he eventually see what could have been in Inori??]
[ALSO the way that Hikaru was pulled towards Inori due to her belief that she was like Jun, but now doesn't (perhaps because Inori is warm and bright and expressive about her frustrations and desires, compared to the cold, unfeeling, yet angry, way Jun is), and remains captivated by Inori as a whole is so so cool]
It's also awesome to see that Hikaru is breaking free from Jun's cultivation in that she is losing her perfection — perhaps due to emotions starting to have a stronger influence on her skating. also how it was Jun who brought her into the world of skating, but it Inori who has sparked her passion and desire to consciously use her skating to be a guiding light to others, and now she's using it to ensure Inori's passion doesn't die out (another Tsukasa-Hikaru parallel to add to Hikaru's own analysis of their likeness [also perhaps what Jun could have been to Tsukasa in another lifetime, but I digress]).
I'm just really excited to see how her free is gonna go now.

i wondered why i underestimated fresh so much - and came to a unexpected conclusion: all my favorite cure protagonists - megumi from hcpc, hikaru from startwi, haruka from gopri - are all strange, quirky, idealists, children at heart, their characters are very hyperbolised - although it doesnt mean people like them dont exist
it explains why they're not liked in the fandom (at least what ive seen) "megumi is a mary sue and unrealistically kind" "haruka dreams to become a princess? who is she, a 5 year old?" "what's up with hikaru's obsession with space and eternal optimism? so childish and stupid" and such people like megumi or haruka ARE often treated like this in real life
love momozono is not at all strange - in fact she is the most ordinary person ever - so ordinary i considered her boring and i was badly mistaken love is that girl next door, simple, real, never doubting, sacrificing everything for her friends without any hesitation - because she can't imagine any other option it is this very ordinary girl who saves all the parallel worlds, becomes a responsible leader and caring "parent" for chiffon - and she's the one who makes setsuna feel happy, feel at home, this setsuna who has never knew love and friendship and maybe thats what makes love so lovable (sorry for the pun)
hcpc characters meet each other for the first time, their characters are bright, turbulent and contrasting, which leads to many strange situations. each new day spent together becomes an adventure and opens up new sides in the characters - that's why not a single filler episode seems like a filler
love-miki-inori trio are best friends since childhood, they do not need sentimentality of meguhime and declarations of love every day - they know too well they indeed love each other, all their warmth is hidden inside (although I don't really see it and it often seemed to me that miki and inori were just "additions to love")
hcpc is a very psychological season, where much attention is paid to the characters' personalities and ideologies, posing questions - what is happiness? what is love? who deserves love and happiness? therefore, hcpc villains have deep personalities and traumas - to show that they are people who have become evil for a reason
moebius is a function, but its how he should be: he is literally an AI that fulfills its function
so in the end idk why i didn’t like fresh that much, it must be good, it really must be good - but i just can’t understand it, it doesnt give me that kirayaba feeling that im looking for in every media i watch. hope startwi will return this feeling to me …
sorry fresh fans its all my personal interpetation and most likely im wrong. im just here with my silly little analyses

Unknown Levels: You don't sound excited.

Pupa, a day later: That was a moment of weakness. Fuck you.

— Destonio, in any situation ever.
Arghena: I really like wearing sunglasses!
Arghena: Because as long as you wear them...
Arghena: No one will be able to tell what you're looking at~
(The scene cuts to Arghena with her sunglasses on, and she is...somewhat looking respectfully at Callima's chest. Somewhat respectfully.)
Arghena: Hi! Sorry if this is weird but I just wanted to know if you're one of the people who hate me.
Callima: Oh hi. Not weird at all!
Callima: ...Yes, I am!

Stasis: Hey! That's my line!

"Your anger amuses me. Please don't ever find inner peace. Please."
— Retribution, to Destonio.
"He is fine." Arta blankly said. Hikaru then glanced to an unconscious Glaciaxion, laying on the sand near the sea at the beach.
"I'm psychologically well and don't need to hit anything."
— Destonio, trying convince himself that he is mentally sane while he is clearly raging and fuming.
Pupa: ...

Fate: You're so bi haha little bisexual man!
Destonio: Loud correct buzzer.
"A whole orange will float on water. But a peeled orange will sink. Who gives a shit?"
— Hikaru, explaining something to Glaciaxion that HE KNOWS GLACIAXION WOULD ACTUALLY SORT OF GIVE A SHIT ABOUT. Anyways.
Logos: I'm so horse I could eat a hungry.
Primeval: How horse...?
"Don't bite my husband."
— Eternity, sadly referring to Momento

precure playing calico
Tumblr media
everyone drops everything to do the blossom and sunny quests. how could they not?
the first one to find the forest spirit cat was nagisa. ever since she told the group chat about it, and riko brought up bootes, honoka and hikaru have been obsessed with galaxy cat lore. one thing led to another and now they’re going absolutely insane over inversion auras and ghost dogs and giant cats and mouse people and colour-shifting flowers and pacifying magic and everything relating to the witching woods
half the cures spent AGES on the character customizer. basically everyone tried to recreate their cure forms for hair and then put on their dream outfits
nozomi has been losing her mind trying to find a dog for gabby. she finally succeeds and tells the whole group chat, much to the excitement of those who were also stuck on this quest
love likes to use the dance potion and put on shows for the cafe visitors
inori is the member of team fresh who’s the most addicted to calico. her party is filled with animals because she can’t limit herself to just ten
setsuna will spend ages moving her garden flowers around to find where they get to be red. she spent two in-game days on just this
tsubomi has spent all her money in lily and poppy’s store and has an overdecorated garden but barely anything in the cafe itself. also, did i mention she is absolutely addicted to this game
itsuki has filled her cafe with so many decorations it’s hard to move around. she was the first one to manage to get her hands on a basic display case for steve
yuri’s cafe is this wild mix of spooky and cute decoration types. she has a tendency to play calico all night
kanade is tied with asuka for THE most calico-addicted precure. she has every single piece of toe bean furniture in the game, no exaggeration, and she always has a cat on her head unless she’s making food. her display case is always at least 50% comprised of sweet-type food.
miyuki has all the pastel stuff. seriously, you should see the amount of cute and cloud furniture this girl has got going on
reika has a fondness for going to the onsen and jumping off the waterfalls down the entire mountainside for fun
mana speedruns the quests and tends to forgo cooking and decorating for the sake of them
rikka just wants frogs to be in the game
megumi keeps singing along to the background music. did i mention she doesn’t know half the lyrics
yuko rarely completes quests because she’s too busy buying every recipe in the game. she's also the only one who actually uses egg type furniture
iona and kirara both can’t get enough of that spooky-type decoration with the moon and stars. they’ve got like 4 copies of it
haruka absolutely lost it when she got that tiara as a quest reward. she wears it all the time now
team kirakira has been recreating the calico sweets at the kirapati and advertising the hell out of it
i will add more when it isn’t 5:46am and my device isn’t on 10% battery

which precures would read homestuck without being dared to
Boy howdy. There’s a question I didn’t expect. Well let’s see here and go down the list:
Nagisa: Got into it shortly after launch, after hearing Honoka talk about it.
Honoka: OG reader, has been around for most of Hussie’s stuff.
Hikari: She didn’t read it until about halfway through its publication run, but caught up in a single night. She made fanart.
Saki: She tried to get into it for Mai, but it never really meshed with her. Still learned enough through osmosis to cosplay both Dirk and Dave.
Mai: She has five sketch books that are just redraws of the entire series with everybody replaced by Saki. None of her friends must ever see. They saw. They didn’t get it, but liked the art.
Nozomi: OG reader, not the absolute biggest fan, but did walk away liking it.
Rin: Saw Nozomi read it, and tried a little herself. Then she met Kanaya. The rest was history and fanfics. And special flower arrangements.
Urara: Currently lobbying for a broadway adaption. She is undecided which role she wants to play tho.
Komachi: She has changed her writing pseudonym to John Egbert, to get a better likelyhood of getting her Pirate Hurricane series published. She writes more like a mix of Dave and Rose though. It’s fucking mind expanding.
Karen: She had it fed through her home’s in house cinema to watch it with Komachi initially. They all ended up watching it.
Milk/Kurumi: “Vriska did nothing wrong”
Love: Her and Setsuna totally are like Rose and Kanaya. She is Rose of course.
Miki: She knows she is everybody’s Kanaya. She spend some time making masks of the characters. You can imagine how well that ended. Her Kanaya cosplays are somehow still great for the family boutique.
Inori: Yeah, she read it. Each reading session was followed by a trip to the confession booth. Eventually she just started reading it in the confession booth. The priest liked it too.
Setsuna: Her and Love totally are like Rose and Kanaya. She is Rose of course.
Tsubomi: Yes she read it. No her friends must never know. She doesn’t realize all of them have read it too.
Erika: The only friend Tsubomi opened up to about Homestuck. Turns out Erika runs one of the main japanese fansites of Homestuck.
Itsuki: Main mod on Erika’s fansite. Tsubomi must never know. Nor her family. Itsuki still feels too uncomfortable in their skin for that.
Yuri: Almost OG reader, she and Honoka frequented the same forums. Upon casual mention from Honoka, Yuri tried it out. Her young friends must never be tainted by this horror. Hopefully Hussie updates soon!
Hibiki:Learned about it through Ako. Found it pretty sweet, but didn’t make it all the way.
Kanade: Also learned about it through Ako. her bi heart couldn’t be stopped as she steamed through almost all of it in one go.
Ellen: Had been following it for about a year with Hummie before Suite happened. Continued reading while on the villains side. Often plays Homestuck songs while busking, and has several rearrangements on niconico.
Ako: Has been reading Hussie’s stuff since halfway through Problem Sleuth. She was 7 at the time. There’s a reason she a) is so crumby, Karkat is her spirit animal, and b) she decided to go and become an extra af phantom thief precure.
Miyuki: She is a reading machine, and of course this would capture her attention. She came in a bit late but found it on her own.
Akane: Similarly to Rin, she saw it over Miyuki’s shoulder one day, did a bit of reading herself, and got pretty hooked for a while. The hiatuses however broke her streak. Oddly enough the main emotion she took away from it is a hate for Equius, which she shares with Nao.
Yayoi: Main fanart contributor to Erika’s fansite. Her and Reika spend hours talking about Terezi.
Nao: Never did read it, she was too busy with her family and superheroism. More recently though, she decided to kinda wiki crawl the subject. Walked away primarily with a hate for Equius.
Reika: Another mod on Erika’s fansite. She has found her path. Her parents are disappointed. Screw her parents.
Mana: Tried it, didn’t like it. Square.
Rikka: Wishes she could live on that first planet they showed, with the froggies. She tries to dare Mana, but continues to get shot down. Mana is such a square.
Alice: Found it on one of her internet binges to bring her temper down. It proofed a surprisingly good tool to keep her mellow, which is why we see so little of her inner rage during the show. Another Terezi fan.
Makoto: Somehow has never come across a single shred of evidence that Homestuck exists. As unlucky as she is, she might be the luckiest of us all.
Aguri: Unlike Makoto, she has seen what Rikka and Alice are up to. She did read it a little, and liked what she saw well enough, but didn’t stick with it. Not enough time, and her twin sister lives fifty miles in Vriska did nothing wrong territory, so clearly she must be better than her. (She isn’t.)
Megumi: Came across it on her own, read it, but lost interest.
Hime: Runs the discord server for Erika’s fansite.
Yuko: Does occasional lyrics for Ellen’s arrangements, both on youtube and niconico, and makes the occasional troll riceball.
Iona: She was in fact dared, but by Megumi of all people, after she stopped reading. There is no bigger Rose fan now.
Haruka: As an avid reader, it did cross her radar, she went through it, and came out more determined than before to be the best princess she can be.
Minami: Amusingly enough, stumbled across it during her internet binges boning up on marine biology. Feferi popped up in her searches somehow, and the rest is history.
Kirara: Fans suggested it to her. She read it. The most fabulous Kanaya cosplayer of them all.
Towa: Kirara suggested it to her after she herself had finished (by now the webcomic is done IRL) partially because nerds gotta share, and partially because she truly felt it might help her cope with some of her inner turmoil from the guilt over being Twilight. Towa is slow in reading through this particular one, so she is still going through it today. Results unclear, she doesn’t talk much about it, even with Kirara. It might be helping though.
(The remaining characters I don‘t know as well as the others yet, but I’ll see what I can conjure up. Intriguingly I feel this also marks the first generation of Cures that lived in a post Homestuck world, what with Mahoutsukai airing in 2016, and Homestuck ending in 2016.)
Mirai: Got dragged in by the hype over the ending of Homestuck. Dared Riko to read it with her. They did. They planned their wedding to be like Rose’s and Kanaya’s.
Riko: Got dragged in by Mirai. Would feel very big deja vu next year when they both became moms to Kotoha.
Kotoha: Her moms protect her from this vice. (She found it anyways. There is no stopping the corruption of the youth.)
Ichika: Heard about it, but didn’t really care. Unfortunately for her she is on a team with Aoi, Yukari, and Akira.
Himari: Closet fan, wrote several dissertations about the science in Homestuck on Erika’s fansite. Which is probably where her crush on Honoka comes from.
Aoi: Loud and proud, likes this retro comic. Has started collabs with Yuko, Ellen, Amour, and Emiru because of course.
Yukari: She was a depressed gay teen during Homestuck’s peak... what do you think?
Akira: She was a gay teen during Homestuck’s peak... what do you think?
Ciel: She would have been save. But Undertale dragged her right into this fresh hell.
Hana: Huge fan of Undertale, but never quite pulled together the energy to tackle the behemoth that is Homestuck. Did learn through osmosis, with so many of her senpai cure friends being raving lunatic homestuck fans.
Saaya: Actually dodged both the Homestuck and the Undertale bullet initially. Hana then tossed Deltarune at her, and Saaya fell down the rabbit hole.
Homare: She had some inner hangups about getting into the whole mess, but Hana did dare her, knowing enough about the series to know that it’s message might gibe Homare the kick in the behind she needed to give ice skating another go.
Emiru: Big Undertale fan, but doesn’t care about the webcomic herself. Uncertain if even a dare would work, she does her own thing... well, besides the music. She freaking loves the music.
Amour: Read the whole thing in one hour to understand its impact on culture. What else would make her crash and join the heroes? Jokes aside, she did do it, and it did leave an impact on her. She was the one who connected Aoi and Emiru.
Hikaru: What are the freaking odds that she hasn’t read through it in its entirety three times this week alone?
Lala: Had her ship read it to her as something to fall asleep to. It put her to sleep quickly, actually, like tales from home. Her ship didn’t fare as well. It’s one of the biggest crack shippers on Erika’s site. Lala only heard like ten percent of the story.
Elena: Has neither the free time nor privacy to read a webcomic that’s now a decade old. Likes listening to Hikaru’s ranting about the series. Also likes how somehow that ranting makes Madoka’s face light up.
Madoka: It is unknown how she found the time, but she is a freaking huuuueg closet fan. She wants to talk with Hikaru about it, but still feels too uncomfortable being public about it. Hikaru does however know that MoonSollux, one of the biggest fanfic writers on Erika’s site, is her, but will wait for Madoka to come out of her shell in her own time.
Yuni: Missed the whole mess being a space alien idol phantom thief. Is getting a very wrong idea about human culture from Hikaru’s ranting. A dare would totally work.
(I have zero grasp on the Healin’ Good Girls, so not gonna do them.)

PreCures and If They Would Survive A Horror Movie
Nagisa: would survive. Shes the most competent pink cure both on and off the battlefield, she will destroy the villain and look badass doing it.
Honoka: Her science stuff probably created the bad guy in the first place when it went haywire. And since she would know how to defeat the villain, she would have to die early on for there to be a horror movie at all.
Hikari: Absolutely would not survive. All she does is stand there and sometimes freeze the enemy in place for two seconds. She only transforms when reminded to. Also she’s a blonde and horror villains always go for blondes. There’s no way she’d live. Hikari would stand there frozen in place and scream until she dies gruesomely.
Saki: I don’t know but nagisa survives so i’m gonna say saki does too.
Mai: also don’t know. i’mma say no.
Nozomi: Would not survive. There is no way nozomi would make it out.
Rin: Would survive. After watching Nozomi die, Rin would go full-on enraged feral jock, transform, and set the villain on fire.
Urara: Would not survive. She’d probably go right into the dark place and do the thing where you spot the villain with your flashlight and dismiss it before doing a major double take but now it’s right behind you.
Komachi: Would survive, all the way. She reads a lot so she knows her way around how to survive these things. She writes a lot so she knows shady topics and would think of or know things that if she didn’t know, the whole team would be screwed. And she’s a walking weapon of mass destruction on top of all that.
Karen: She’s hiding in a secret fortified bunker right now with bodyguards and lots of entertainment. She would survive.
Kurumi: Would not survive. When she reverts to fairy form against her own will, the bad guy would pick her up and throw her into some mechanical thing that grinds her up alive and is the main reason for the R rating.
Love: Would last 5 minutes. Seriously, in the first episode she got lost and saw a creepy house in the woods that wasn’t there before and what does she do? SHE GOES IN. If that were a horror movie, she’d be a redshirt designed to be killed off in the first few minutes for the purpose of introducing us to the bad guy and showing how dangerous it is.
Miki: Would survive. Miki has gone up against a villain who came straight out of the horror genre (Northa) and survived. Another horror villain would be no problem. Unless it’s hide time and she can’t hide properly because she’s so tall.
Inori: Might survive. Might end up dying so that the cat in the movie doesn’t.
Setsuna: Setsuna has lived through a horror movie (episode 40 of fresh precure). She’s dealt with some serious heck. She will absolutely survive a horror movie.
Tsubomi: All Tsubomi would do is run. Thankfully, she’s not clumsy like some pinks, and would probably actually manage to make it out by running away.
Erika: Would survive. Erika cannot be killed.
Itsuki: This girl knows martial arts. She fought off a giant monster because it ripped a plushie she thought was cute. Horror villains should be scared of Itsuki.
Yuri: ABSOLUTELY would survive. Did you see her take out an entire group of Sunackies in civilian form? She’s a genius, a badass, and would survive a horror movie hands-down.
Hibiki: Would survive
Kanade: Would survive, but only because Crescendo Tone can bring people back to life.
Ellen: Would survive. Remember how she trolled some villains who were trying to scare her? She’d do the same thing. Except it’s also leading the bad guy into a death trap.
Ako: She’s that little girl who befriends the ghosts or whatever and talks about them casually in a scary way and then either becomes possessed, helps the villain kill everyone else, or just skip ropes on the playground singing terrifying versions of nursery rhymes. She survives, obviously. Forming an alliance with the villains can help you with that.
Miyuki: Would not survive. The reason for this is that by the time she realizes what genre she’s actually in, it would be too late for her already.
Akane: Would survive. Arson queen with the makings of a genderflipped shonen protag and super strength even by precure standards? She will destroy the bad guys.
Yayoi: Would survive. She watches enough anime and toku, reads enough manga and comic books, and plays enough video games to know everything about how to survive a horror movie. Also, she likes ghost stories. She ABSOLUTELY would catch on right away that she’s in a horror movie and maybe even fangirl over the villain a little.
Nao: Would be the only one to realize THE MAGIC TELEPORTING BOOKSHELF and escape.
Reika: Similar to Miki and Setsuna, Reika has gone up against a villain who’s scary enough to be in horror, in this case Joker. And she has won. Several times. Reika would absolutely survive. What’s another horror villain?
Mana: Would sacrifice herself to save her team.
Rikka: Would not survive. She’d obtain information and realize a way to defeat the villain that would 100% work, which means that while she’s explaining it, she’d be killed mid-sentence.
Alice: Would ABSOLUTELY survive. She has a freaking SPACE SHUTTLE, her place is full of traps and secret tunnels, she’s one of the most badass and terrifying cures, AND both she and her butler are Batman. Alice is by far the most likely precure to survive a horror movie.
Makoto: Did the sensible thing and hid out with Alice. Is currently hanging out in a secret room with protection, every light on, and her back to the wall so she can’t be ambushed from behind, watching willcraft monster school on her phone on silent.
Aguri: Dies of overconfidence.
Regina: Is the one to kill the villain.
Megumi: She would transform and be like “AW YEAH I GET TO BATTLE SOMETHING” and then obliterate the villain, surviving the movie in the process. Unless she tried to form change. If she used her dance attacks, she’d be stabbed or dismembered or eaten while she’s charging up her attack.
Hime: Survives the movie itself. Is killed after the credits to show that the villain isn’t really dead and set up a sequel.
Yuko: First one on the team to die.
Iona: Would definitely survive. She’s the only one on her team who’s 100% cool with doing what it takes to defeat the bad guys and she’s a badass.
Maria: Did you see the time she took out 4 monsters at once? She would survive.
Haruka: Like with most pinks, Haruka would probably not survive.
Minami: Would stand there screaming until she gets stabbed.
Kirara: Same deal as Erika.
Towa: She’s a fire cure. Fire often works against these guys. But they have no compulsion about attacking someone while she’s preparing her drawn-out attack sequence, and the extreme impracticality of her outfit could end up killing her. It’s around 50/50 for Towa.
Mirai: Would last 20 minutes if she’s lucky. She’s probably the one who read the creepy old book out loud and released the demon/monster/whatever.
Riko: Has enough knowledge of the supernatural to know how to defeat the thing Mirai summoned. Is targeted as a result. Eventually dies directly after a jumpscare. Is brought back to life by Kotoha.
Kotoha: She’s a literal goddess and she’s got the strongest magic of anyone ever. She will survive without question.
Ichika: Hate to say this, but she would probably not survive. *begins sobbing at the thought of my precious daughter dying in a horror movie*
Himari: Would also probably die. But would last for far longer than Ichika.
Aoi: Would power through an otherwise fatal injury and somehow survive something that definitely should have killed her, because she needs to write a song about this.
Yukari: Old enough to drive. Smart enough to check the back seat.
Akira: Sits in the passenger seat as the two floor it. Checks under the car for villains while Yukari is watching her back.
Ciel: Switches to fairy form and flies so high the villains can’t get her.
Pikario: Gets run over by Yukari and Akira.
Hana: Survives the first half of the movie. Dies when she runs upstairs instead of outside.
Saaya: She spent an entire night just watching horror movies once and now she knows everything about how to survive them. Makes it out alive.
Homare: Survives
Emiru: Is hiding in a security bunker
Ruru: Is hiding with Emiru
Hikaru: She’s really into cryptids and occult stuff, so she knows their weaknesses, and survives the whole movie as a result. Probably hits on the monster at least once.
Lala: Runs right into her spaceship and gets TF out of there.
Elena: Holds out for a good amount of time. Then her phone rings while she’s hiding.
Madoka: Made it onto the spaceship with Lala.
Yuni: Uses her shapeshifting perfume to disguise herself as a corpse version of herself. Successfully tricks the bad guy into thinking she’s dead.
Nodoka: Passes out, dies first.
Chiyu: Survives
Hinata: Would not survive. She’s too much of a hot mess to last in a horror movie.
Asumi: Would die if she remained untransformed. If she transformed, she would survive hands-down.
