I'm gonna be really honest with you, i did stalk your ao3 to see what you like.

Making something specific to your preferences motivates me to do it. The more specific it is to the tropes u personally love, the more im having fun because ill know im making something you'll enjoy.

So, here are some questions i've got for you!

1-Do you like seeing side ships in the bg? If there is a fic with a main ship, would you like there to be side development on other side ships too? (If yes, which side ships do u like to see?)

2- Angst comes in all flavors. What is you specific favourite brand of angst? Full on violence angst? Seperation angst? (Either willingly or by an exterior force seperating them? 3-fluff to angst ratio: in a fic, what do you look for the most in terms of the ship's interactions? The warm domestic moments, or watching them go through a roller coaster of stressful events together? Or a mix?

no worries about being late! i’m happy to hear from you. i want to say stalking my ao3 is a brave thing to do cuz i got a lot of bookmarks there 😂. before i answer your specific questions, if you find this helpful i can list for you the list of general likes and the list of do not likes i usually give when i participate in a fandom exchange:

general likes (a non-exhaustive list): historical au’s, slow burn, childhood friends to lovers, character and relationship studies, hurt/comfort, comedy, inevitable tragedy, angst, complicated sibling relationships, pining, messing with time and space, pretty prose, ships being vers

i am happy to see side ships! i don’t mind them at all. my only request is that you keep them to the canon ships (so andreil, danmatt, kateaaron, nickyerik, sethallison, kevthea, jeanee, lailacat. and i guess kevjean and jerejean since those are both looking canon these days 😂). exception for renison as that is a non-canonical ship i love with my heart

you know i have never been asked what my favorite brand of angst is before and i had to think about this for a bit 😂. i think separation angst is my favorite but i am also a very big fan of violent angst and interior angst. i will say misunderstanding angst i don’t tend to like unless it’s of the “2 characters with clashing worldviews who will never ever be able to understand each other cuz they were brought up too differently and are too married to their own beliefs” variety or the “2 characters so repressed they lie to themselves about why the other is doing the things they do” or whatever the twinyards got going on

ordinarily if you asked me my opinion on a fluff-to-angst ratio i would say something like 25%-75% in favor of the angst. however aftg is one of the few fandoms where i actually do like reading complete fluff, especially if it’s a post-canon fic. so i guess i’m saying i’m not picky, i don’t care. you can give me complete fluff or nothing but pain or both and i’ll be happy

any of the au’s you listed i would be happy to receive in a gift! i guess if you wanted me to rank them i would go college au > mermaid au > soulmate au > witch au > werewolf au > vampire au > band au, but really i would love any of these au’s. i will just throw in there that my favorite romance trope of all time is childhood friends to lovers so i will definitely not complain if that is something you incorporate into your gift

nsfw falls somewhere on the scale of vaguely skim through to something i don't always look for but definitely elevates the experience for me. it really depends on the fic, on if the character and relationship development of the characters would benefit from them being written having sex. while i do like pwp, i tend to be very picky about them and usually only read them to scratch a specific itch

i’m not picky about pacing. i like both slow and fast-paced stories. i only ask that the pacing fit the story that is being told

Aromantic Experiences in Fandom: Survey Results

PART 1 - PART 2 - ANALYSIS: TIME IN FANDOM - ANALYSIS: AROALLO VS AROACE

This is the last of posts I am planning to make when it comes to the results to this survey, and in this one I want to focus on any differences between the opinions of the allosexual respondents versus the asexual ones. I suggest having looked over at Part 1 and Part 2 of the survey results, and/or keeping them open in another tab to easily confront the results.

Aroace respondents (including oriented and angled aroaces) were 558. Aroallo respondents were 154. The sample size for aroallos is, clearly, quite a bit smaller, and thus more likely to be inaccurate, still it is hopefully big enough to adequately represent the opinions of aroallo fans. People who identified as non-SAM aros, or who said that they were questioning or otherwise not identified with the given options are not being included in this discussion.

Not all questions of the survey will be discussed again in this post, in particular those questions were the aroace and aroallo respondents answered in a very similar way will not be discussed here.

As usual, summary is at the bottom of the post.

General Fandom Questions

Out of the entire samples, 543 aroaces stated that they are currently involved in fandom spaces, as well as 145 aroallos. The survey has a section for people who were not involved in fandom, however, this section will not be discussed here because the sample size for people not involved in fandom is too small to be considered accurate. Instead, there will be some focus on the questions aimed at aros currently involved in fandom.

In general, would you say fandom spaces are aro-friendly?

Aroallos were more likely than average to answer no to this question (47.6%), while aroaces answered no less often than average (40.6%). Aroallos answered yes way less often (4.1%), while aroaces were more in line with the average results (11.8%).

Do you think it's easy to find aromantic specific content in fandom? 

Aroallos were more likely to say no (90.3%) than aroaces (85.8%). Aroaces were more likely to say yes (6.7%) than aroallos (4.1%).

Do you think alloromantic (non-aromantic) fans are in general respectful of aromantic interpretations of characters/media? 

Aroallos were more likely to answer no (61.4%) than aroaces (55.0%). While the amount of people who were unsure varied, the two groups were about equally likely to say yes.

Content Creators Questions

418 aroaces stated that they have created fancontent. 116 aroallos stated that they have created fancontent.

If you have created aro content, would you say it got more or less attention than your non aro content? 

Aroallos were more likely to say that their aro content got less attention (77.8%) compared to aroaces (63.8%). Also, some aroaces said that their aro content got more attention (3.4%), but no aroallos answered this way, saying that at most it got the same amount of attention.

Have you ever felt discouraged by your fandom when it comes to making aro content?

Aroaces were more likely to answer no to this question (37.8%) than aroallos (31.0%). Out of those who did feel discourages, aroallos were more likely than aroaces to say that it was out of fear for receiving hate for it (42.3% vs 35.5%).

Shipping Questions

Aroallos were more likely to be into shipping than aroaces (92.2% vs 87.5%). There were 142 aroallo shippers, and 514 aroace ones. The questions aimed at non-shippers will also not be discussed, as once again the sample size was too small to make comparisons. Instead, there will be focus on the questions aimed at shippers.

Do you consider non-romantic shipping (shipping characters as queerplatonic partners, friends with benefits, etc.) to be a valid form of shipping, or do you think shipping only refers to romantic situations? 

Aroallos were more likely than average to answer yes (78.2%), aroaces were less likely than averages (69.2%). Aroallos were also much more likely to state that shipping only applies to romantic situations (14.8%) than aroaces (6.6%).  Instead, aroaces were more likely to answer that only some forms of non-romantic shipping count as shipping (23.6%), while aroallos were strongly less likely to answer this way (7.0%). 

When it comes to your ships, do you prefer content that focuses more on the romantic or sexual aspect of the relationship? 

The differences in the way the two groups answered this question were very significant. Aroaces were most likely to answer that they like romantic content and dislike sexual content (43.4%), which is also the option that appeared as the most chosen in the general results. However, this was the absolutely least chosen option by aroallos (5.6%).

Aroaces were also fairly likely to say that they prefer romantic content, while also enjoying sexual content (25.2%). However, aroallos were less likely than average to chose this option (13.4%).

When it comes to the option for liking both equally, aroallos were far more likely to pick it than aroaces (46.5% vs 26.2%).

Many aroallos said that they prefer sexual content, while also enjoying romantic content (26.8%). This option was far less chosen by aroaces (4.7%).

Lastly, some aroallos said that they prefer sexual content and dislike romantic content (7.7%). Very few aroaces picked this option (0.6%).

Here I will give you a list of tropes commonly found in shipping fan content. I ask that you pick 5 that you consider your favorites. You can pick less than 5 if there aren't enough tropes that you like, but please try not to pick more.

When it came to aroace fans, the most popular tropes picked align fairly well with the general results. The five most popular are Domestic Fluff (51.7%), Slow Burn (49.8%), Mutual Pining (49.0%), Friends to Lovers (41.4%) and Enemies to Lovers (39.8%). There are the exact same five tropes that resulted most popular from the general results, although in slightly different order. The rest of the tropes still roughly follows the same pattern as what was in the general results (described in Part 2) with minor differences.

Things are, however, fairly different when it comes to aroallo responses. Here the five most popular tropes are PWP (47.1%), Mutual Pining (45.1%), Enemies to Lovers (40.8%), Friends with Benefits (38.0%) and Domestic Fluff (32.4%). Slow Burn and Friends to Lovers are here kicked out of the top five, replaced by PWP and Friends with Benefits, both tropes with a heavy sexual side to them.

Because the rest of the tropes were also somewhat out of order, I’ll report which ones aroallos picked in order of most to least popular: Slow Burn, Established Relationships, Porn with Feelings, Friends to Lovers, Unhealthy Relationships, Fake Dating, Hate Sex, Getting Together and Soulmate AU, Unrequited Love, Jealousy/Possessiveness, Friends with Benefits to Lovers and Hanahaki Disease and Telepathic Bonds, Arranged Marriage, Break Ups, First Dates, Love at First Sight.

Porn with Feelings is far higher on the list (seventh most popular here vs eleventh most popular in the general results). Hate Sex is also much higher (eleventh here vs seventeenth in the general results). Friends with Benefits to Lovers is the only “sexual” trope that didn’t make a significant jump. On the other hand, Friends to Lovers was much less popular among aroallos, as well as Soulmate AU.

Here I give you the same list of tropes, but this time I ask that you pick the 5 tropes you dislike the most. Again, you can pick less than 5, but please try not to pick more

Once again, for aroaces the top five most disliked trope are the same as the overall most disliked tropes. In order Jealousy/Possessiveness (54.5%), Unhealthy Relationships (52.3%), Hate Sex (50.2%), Love at First Sight (39.7%), and Hanahaki Disease (38.7%). The order is a little different, with Hate Sex being higher in the list compared to the general results, but the tropes are the same. The rest is, once again, very similar to the general list of most disliked tropes, with the most significant difference being that the sixth most disliked trope here was PWP, who was not as unpopular in the general results.

For aroallos, the top five is Love at First Sight (52.1%), then Soulmate AU and Hanahaki Disease and Jealousy/Possessiveness (47.9% for all three), and Unhealthy Relationships (36.6%). Aroallos were a lot more likely to dislike Soulmate AUs compared to aroaces. On the other hand, Hate Sex is much less unpopular for aroallos, being only the tenth most disliked trope.

Other sexual tropes such as PWP and Porn with Feelings were in the same position, as second least disliked tropes. Friends with Benefits was the least disliked trope, with only one person picking it.

Summary

Aroallos reported finding fandom somewhat less aro-friendly than aroaces, as well as apparently finding aromantic content harder to find. Aroallo creators reported that their aromantic specific content received less attention, and that they more often felt discouraged by fandom when it comes to making said content than aroace respondents. Given the smaller sample size of aroallos, it’s a little hard to say whether this was a statistical fluke or if fandom is indeed less friendly to aroallos than to aroaces. Once could say that perhaps the aro content that aroallo want is less likely to be made and less likely to be well received, but unfortunately there weren’t questions asking details regarding the kind of content either group wants or makes.

When it comes to shipping, most aroaces prefer romantic content, often disliking sexual content, and very few of them prefer sexual content. On the other hand, most aroallos enjoy sexual content, with the majority of aroallos either enjoying both romantic and sexual content equally or having a preference for sexual content. This is also reflected in the tropes either group prefers, with aroallos showing a lot of interest in tropes such as PWP and Friends with Benefits, compared to aroaces who as a general rule are not fans of these tropes. Aroallos also care less for Friends to Lovers, and tend to dislike Soulmate AUs more than aroaces do.

What makes me happy about them: the fact that they are the least platonic best friends in the history of best friends, like touching ur homie on the shoulder is no homo but touching ur homie on the shoulder as ur thumb presses into their collarbone whilst u tell them there's nobody else in the world they trust more with their kid than you is decidedly homo

What makes me sad about them: the fact that they can't see how much they're loved by the other and that their timing is always so wrong and they don't think they deserve to be happy

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: nobody. literally no one. they're soulmates, they built their lives together until they became one, there's literally no other choices for them.

an introductory rec list (that no one asked for) to some of my favorite ships: hedric (harry/cedric) [3/10]

First fic I read for the pairing: Autumn Leaves by hazellepotter [1k,Not Rated] No words were spoken as their lips touched, and that’s when Harry realized Cedric wasn’t like porcelain. He was strong; he was stronger than Harry ever was. It was Harry who should have feared being shattered by his very touch. (warnings: major character death (it’s not tagged (they chose not to use warnings) but i thought it was worth mentioning as i tend to avoid it and i’m sure some others do too) [i stumbled onto this fic when i was going through a phase of reading a lot of rarepairs (of which hazellepotter has a lot of really good ones by the way), and it was cute (but sad).]

Fic that really sold me on the pairing: Stay Alive For Now by nunchikoi [150k,T] (WIP) Everything is the same except Cedric Diggory lives and thus, as God has decreed, Harry Potter has his bisexual awakening. [the concept of hedric has seemed cute for a long time but i saw an excerpt of this fic on tumblr and i was hooked immediately and let me tell you the fic does not disappoint: the canon divergence is excellent (works well within canon events but with realistic differences because cedric lives), the characterization is spot on, the relationship and friendship dynamics are spot on. basically, i’m obsessed with this fic and the pairing.]

Absolute favorite fic(s) for the pairing: Testor Ego Amorem Perpetuum by ABlackRaven [44k,T] "Testor Ego Amorem Perpetuum." I Swear Perpetual Love. Cedric feels drawn to protect Harry Potter. Whether this be from Dementors on a Quidditch pitch or the tasks of a life-threatening tournament, he's determined to help him. He can't help but worry about the younger boy. Eventually friendship takes root and potentially...something more? Harry feels drawn to Cedric, safe when he is near. He certainly has no shortage of dangers in his life, from an abusive home life to the growing threat of Voldemort. He cant help the guilt that he puts Cedric in danger by proximity. Eventually friendship takes root and potentially...could he hope for something more? And when the end of the third task goes horribly wrong, will either of them survive? A rewrite of Book 4 revolving around Harry and Cedric. [soulmate au but make it non-traditional. it’s so good but then again i am a sucker for friends to lovers, well written canon divergent fics, soulmate aus, hurt/comfort, and mutual pining.]

Most recent fic I’ve read for the pairing: i can't lie to you by purplefennels7 [2k,T] OOtP, Cedric Lives AU. Cedric is given Veritaserum at a Prefects’ meeting by Umbridge, and accidentally tells Harry how he feels. In his defense, Veritaserum makes people do strange, unintentional things, but sometimes it all turns out well in the end. [ah yes, umbridge being an ass, potions mishaps, misunderstandings, mutual pining, friends to lovers. it’s all pretty cute.]

Favorite AU(s) I’ve read for the pairing: Modern Muggle Roadtrip AU: moving day by rayfelle [2k,G] Harry is eighteen and he breathes in the salty tang of the sea air. His arms are covered by long sleeves and he can still hear his phone buzzing at the bottom of his backpack. He had told his parents about leaving, not his friends. [i’ll be honest, this is cute but it also encapsulates the wanderlust and the need to be anywhere but here that i feel a lot so that might be why i like it so much. it’s really well written though, so check it out even if you’re not a member of the anywhere but here club.]

Favorite Series for the pairing: Amare by ABlackRaven [169k,T,4 works] (WIP) A Hedric rewrite of Harry Potter book 4-7 (warnings for: graphic depictions of violence and minor character death) [delightfully well written series of friends to lovers with soulmates (but there’s a bit of a twist with how that works and i’m a big fan) and it’s still an ongoing series but i have read it twice.]

Longest fic I’ve read for the pairing: Stay Alive For Now by nunchikoi [150k,T] (WIP) Everything is the same except Cedric Diggory lives and thus, as God has decreed, Harry Potter has his bisexual awakening.

Fic(s) with some of my favorite tropes: The Classic Tie Swap Trope: That’s a Yes From Me by Deadly_Sirius [1k,G] Harry accidentally wears a Hufflepuff tie and Cedric accidentally wears a Gryffindor tie and maybe.. maybe the events in the Prefects’ bathroom weren’t exactly innocent.. or alone. [i love a cute little accidental relationship reveal because they accidentally wore the wrong tie and this fic is no exception. in fact, the fic is just as cute as the trope.] Temporary Amnesia + Mutual Pining: The trick to forgetting (is a bludger to the head) by Robottko [3k,G] Sometimes it takes a bludger to the face, and a little bit of amnesia to know how someone truly feels. [a little fluff and a little of one of my recently discovered favorite tropes (something about temporary amnesia coupled with mutual pining is just… so delightful).]

okay. you’re gonna see a bit of a theme with me in these fic recs because the authors I mention are some of my favourites in the world - sam being one of the TOP TIER ones. this fic is a modern au, written about clarke and bellamy as exes (a favourite trope of mine) that have went their separate ways. clarke has moved away and hasn’t kept tabs on bellamy but he's soared to the top as a country star, his hit single being about her and what they had. if there’s any fic from this list you need to start reading, it’s this one.

2. Voices in the Water - @burninghoneyatdusk

It’s the canon version we all wanted. set on earth, clarke’s aunt (nia) forces her into an arranged marriage with king bellamy to unite the clans. but under it all, nia has tasked her to kill him. obviously, as clarke falls in love with bellamy, it’s the one task wanheda probably can’t complete. I'm in love with the imagery and descriptions in this fic. there are honestly some lines that sam writes that I want to frame and put up in my house. absolute brilliance.

3. All Because of You - @burninghoneyatdusk

*sheepishly raises hand* - hi, it’s me again, fangirling over another one of sam’s fics. if you have followed me for a while, either here or on twitter, you’ll have seen me screaming about this fic. I've pulled over while driving to read an update that came through to my email. no lie. I don’t say this lightly but it is definitely in my top 3 favourite bellarke fics of all time. sam DELIVERS with this one. bellamy knocks up his sister’s best friend when they’re both young and they grow together in raising their daughter. this fic flashes between present and future in the most seamless way and we see how in love they were back then but too scared to admit it, combined with how in love they are now that they are mature and older - but yet can’t seem to take the leap. I can’t tell you enough how good this fic is. I'm in love and it’s one of those fics that I would happily have as a book on my bookshelf, the pages worn and falling out from the amount of times that I re-read it.

4. Count Your Teeth - @icantloseyou-too

let me tell you, you guys will be well fed after reading this fic. It’s one of the most original idea’s and we get so much bellarke and the blake siblings in this one. bellamy is a treasure hunter and married to clarke, after leaving his thieving days behind him. that is until his past comes knocking and drags him back into that world again - and clarke along with him. absolute chefs kiss!

5. Cups and Sorcerers - @icantloseyou-too

again, such a unique plot with just the right amount of fluff. clarke is a witch who owns a coffee shop and she ends up meeting someone just as unique as her. I’m invested in this to an embarrassing degree and it always puts me in a good mood when this fic is updated. such a light and heart filling read and ciara does a fantastic job of world building in this fic.

6. Paint me in Trust - @pawprinterfanfic

I'm sure this fic needs no introduction. everyone and their mother has heard of it and if you haven’t read it yet, believe me, you’re missing out. a harry potter au that runs alongside the last few movies without being involved with the main characters. essie manages to make an already existing world so different, thrilling and gripping. it emotionally upends you and takes you along for the ride without any intention of letting you off. I'm just in love with it and rightly so!

7. When the Wolves Come Home - @pawprinterfanfic

I don’t know how people aren’t RAVING about this fic more because I certainly am. it’s massive for me to even say this because I love all of essie’s work but it’s my favourite fic that she’s written. I can’t describe the feeling I get when I read how she’s written bellarke in this. it’s a percy jackson au but you don’t need to have knowledge of that world to enjoy this. I actually started reading the books because of this fic. essie writes it so well and incorporates a lot of fantastic elements from greek mythology while also keeping me on the edge of my seat with bellarke’s journey. HERE FOR IT ALL THE WAY.

8. I’ll Find You in the Morning Sun - @cominguproses13x

I’ve never seen a fic talked about as much as this one. with 60 chapters, it’s bound to satisfy any hunger you have for bellarke. it’s set in a post apocalyptic world and it is beyond a shadow of a doubt, my favourite setting to read bellarke in. I've actually stopped reading this fic on chapter 5 because im currently writing my own post apocalyptic au as it was a trope on my bingo card and I don’t want any subconscious spill over, but I fully intend on reading the rest of the fic in one go once my fic is published and done. it deserves all the praise and hype.

9. For Blue Skies - @kombellarke

kayla’s fics make me actually weep. her writing style is just unbelievable and she sucks me into stories so fast. this one is no different. I live and breathe for bellarke as exes and this fic is one of my favourites. it’s a modern au with clarke as a mother and she cascades back into bellamy’s life without warning. perfect angst and anticipation. in love.

10. Love Like Fools - @talistheintrovert

the way I love talis with my whole heart. I'm always obsessed with her fics and the way this one was written was just magnificent. enemies to friends to lovers, roommates, angst, emotional comforting? SIGN ME UP. the perfect mix of all of those and I felt so good after reading this. always a fan.

11. It Had To Be You - @useyourtelescope

I had the honour of pre-reading some of this fic before it was published and I felt so privileged. a regency au with a prank war sprinkled in? perfection. hana honestly writes this so beautifully and I can’t recommend this enough. it’s so unique and we are all so incredibly lucky that there’s something in the bellarke fic world for everyone.

12. Veni, Vidi, Vinci - @carrieeve

Again, proof of the pudding that there’s something in fic for everyone. I’ve never read one like this before and it THRILLED me. murphy and bellamy working together to steal a Vinci? it was the fic I never knew I needed. the bellarke interaction in this was beautifully written and I am just completely obsessed. we really struck gold with the bellarke big bang works this year.

13. A Twist of Fate - @queenemori

let’s be honest, soulmate au’s are always wanted and needed in this fandom and kara does an excellent job of serving us this one. we got some team cockroach in here along with some top tier quality bellarke. what more could you ask for? if you haven’t read this fic yet, you need to. so thankful for kara being the absolute gifted babe that she is.

14. Power Over Me - @sparklyfairymira

okay, if you recently watched the witcher on netflix like I did, believe me, you NEED to read this fic. if you haven’t watched the witcher, this fic will make you want to watch it. the smut in this, the plot, the WRITING. absolutely phenomenal. have I mentioned how lucky we are to have such fantastic writers in this fandom?

15. There’s a Serpent Lying Deep Down in These Still Waters - @shaeheda

post apocalyptic au? SIGN ME UP. bellarke thrown together in unkind circumstances? SIGN ME UP. this magnificent human writing a fic? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP. I'm so in love with this fic already and I haven’t even finished it yet. as I've said, I've stopped reading fics in this genre until my own is completed but I’ve read enough to tell you that this needs to be on your next to read list. forever in awe of the talent here and this fic makes me feel so lucky to be part of something so great.

2. I Am Lost This Time

a void!bellamy fic that we all deserved to have happen in canon. an au where bellamy hears clarke’s radio calls from earth, sees her memories in m-cap and where she really is the key: the one that unlocks his memories and brings him back to her.

3. Purple, Blue, Orange, Red

bellarke are childhood friends and teenage lovers, reuniting in the midst of the same grief that tore them apart.

4. Devil Side

post apocalyptic setting and my favourite fic to have ever written. both of them coming together to survive and protect those in their family, including two small children. bellarke started out as strangers, who would have thought that they’d end up co-parenting in the middle of a world that is too dangerous to survive out in the open?

5. Waste It on Me

a soulmate/reincarnation au that I wrote based off my own breakup and feelings. probably my most popular fic and should keep you going in terms of bellarke feels.

(the vinsmoke family dynamics and the brothers trying to deal with 21 years of pent up emotions? they're trying?? so freaking hard to be functional people and they realize just how freaking amazing sanji is and that HE wasn't the failure in this family??? god, i've reread this fic so many times like an addict please read and suffer the feels with me. this is the one fic where i'm trying to patiently wait for an update. i'm just happy that this exists.)

His smile is wide and unchecked, so wide that it might make his cheeks ache. He doesn't have laugh lines, but the way he smiles makes her imagine that he's spent his whole life grinning like that, warmly and brightly, so sincere and upfront that the breath gets punched right out her lungs.

Sometimes, there are people close to exceptions. But not quite.

(god, such a good outside pov look on luffy! luffy is such an unreadable character lots of times and it's so hard to pin down his characterization but this fic got it so right! made me fall for luffy all over again and realize just how incredible he is, as both a not-hero figure and main character! definitely recommend!)

(honestly, i just love all of this author's one piece works. its a modern au where the straw hats are reincarnated and find each other all in sabo's pov. it's beautiful and this is how i would picture how the straw hats would fit in a modern au. nakamaship is the best ship, no questions needed. so so good!)

And because Sanji already has the brush ready, and they’re both right there anyways, Usopp knows he’s going to get what he wants.

“Like a superpower!” Julian gasped.

Renfri separated one dandelion from the little clutch and reached out to tuck it behind a little ear. “For the stubborn hero, Jaskier.”

(this is THE fic that got me into the witcher fandom and i can't believe i never reced this before. renfri & jaskier's siblingship is so damn good and just, the amount of effort put into their backstory and relationship makes me want to cry sometimes. and yennefer, ohoho, yennefer is at her Best here, i love her in this fic and her relationship with these siblings! geralt both makes me want to punch him and hug him, which is the norm and totally understandable hahaha! seriously, one of the best witcher fics i've ever read, please please read!)

It's a dark coil of anger deep in the pit of his stomach, reminding him that he was the root, the catalyst, the trigger for their family's downward spiral. It did happen - he reminds himself harshly. He can't forget that, even if time has actually reset itself.

Todoroki Enji gets a second chance. It's up to him to see what he can do with it.

(genuinely the most believable enji i've seen regarding how he deals with his past actions and trying to be better and rei being a complicated, good person who i can see matches well with enji. really well done characterization and slow building relationship that is believable to me. enji trying to change things in a meaningful, careful manner makes me want to root for him!)

Katsuki Bakugou Makes A Friend (And Also Almost Dies, But Whatever) by Sif (Rosae)

Katsuki Bakugou is eight years old, he has no idea how he got here, where he is, or who this other kid is with him, but that's not gonna stop him from being brave and tough, just like the hero he's gonna be when he's older!

The universe has other ideas, but Katsuki Bakugou is a child made of spite, hubris, determination, and way too much nitroglycerin, so the universe can take it's ideas and shove 'em. After all, nobody out-stubborns Katsuki. Nobody.

*Billy Costigan               *Sean Dignam

one of my favourite films ever. i request it every year so you can't really go wrong with this as i'm just thirsty for anything.

most of my love is for dignam and his tough love attitude towards his job and the undercovers he's responsible for. i am endlessly endeared by his wild card quality, expletive fueled speech and hair trigger temperament. the father/son relationship with queenan contrasted against billy’s father/son relationship with queenan. his complete disregard for everyone else in that office, especially sullivan. and despite all of that, it's obvious that he cares. i don't think you could do a job like that and not care in some way, and it’s those few and rare moments where we see him soften around billy --we need you, pal-- that's what i would like to see more of. that juxtaposition of good cop/bad cop all coming from the same guy. shipping fic is preferred but whatever you are comfortable with is fine. due to the nature of the film i am perfectly comfortable with violence and the screwed up relationship they are bound to have. the friction born of the situation vs the fact that they need each other to get through this is what i am all about.

things that really get me with these two: codependency, power imbalances, the enemies to lovers trope, vulnerability, loyalty.

prompts:

fics where billy survives are my usual go-to. i'd love something that explores the angst of billy's ‘where the hell were you when i needed you’ reaction towards dignam following that ending.

i’ve wasted a lot of time thinking about the line --why don’t we meet up, sweetheart, let me buy you an ice cream. the jokey seriousness of it just kills me. if you can somehow write that happening in a believable, in character fic you would earn my eternal respect. whether that’s a clandestine meeting during billy’s undercover period or some kind of post-film scenario where dignam makes good on his promises, i have no idea.

daemon au - very curious how this would impact going undercover. daemons expressing feelings that the characters otherwise can’t. and the intimacy of touching/comforting each other’s daemons is an absolute favourite trope of mine.

soulmate au - either having their names on each other or their first words, this interests me particularly here for the same reason the daemon au does because i’d love to see how this would work in a universe where you’re going undercover.

time loop/groundhog day fic - there’s a lot things i think both of them would love to change about how everything plays out during the film, and it kind of makes a lot of sense to have billy’s survival be the pivotal thing triggering the loop.

Locke (2013) *Ivan Locke                    *Donal

i think this film is an underappreciated masterpiece. a hour and a half long car ride that's completely compelling, to the point of being mesmerising, and it's all down to tom hardy and his welsh accent that's not even welsh. of all the relationships torn down, strengthened, and tentatively started, it's the one between ivan and donal that interests me the most. we’re given just enough background information to know there is a history between the two.

i love the way donal effectively gets promoted to right hand man simply because he's the only one still there willing to take ivan's call. it creates an immediate us vs them vibe that i really enjoy. we’re shown that there's a level of trust there, on top of the more intimate knowledge of donal's capacity to get drunk on the job--this has clearly been a problem before--but ivan still trusts him enough to get his baby of a building built when he can't be there personally, and that fascinates me. as ivan says, donal's a good man and everything is going to turn out okay in the end.

but we don’t actually get a lot of closure since the film ends very much in a lurch. and i can't bring myself to see the ending in a positive light. a baby with a woman he doesn't particular like is not a recipe for a fresh start and i simply cannot see ivan not following up on the progress of his building.

i do ship it and if you feel like taking it in that direction i would be totally into that. i guess i'm just looking for something post-film with these two, dealing with all the fallout the film sets up.

prompts:

i love the way ivan is always struggling to do what is right, while acknowledging he’s majorly fucked everything up. all the times he talks to his dad’s overbearing shadow shows how much weight he puts in legacies and being a better generation than the last. if the baby doesn’t work out donal often strikes me as someone who needs--not fixing per say--but needing help to keep him on a straight line. he’s one bad day away from a driving ban, as it is, and i’d love to see how ivan might view him as something he can pour his misplaced focus into, having lost his grasp on everything else.

i have this image of ivan sleeping on donal's couch because his wife won't take him back, bethan realises she just wants the baby and not him, he's lost his job and he has nowhere else to go and so he's just backseat driving the construction of his building through donal’s vague connection to it. you've got this man who's lost everything and a pseudo-alcoholic just wallowing together, maybe clinging to the idea that with the success of this building maybe they can fix themselves too.

The Alienist (TV) *Laszlo Kreizler                  *Sara Howard

i’m a big fan of the overall darkness of this show. the seedy underbelly of crime and violence, the murder mystery and the coming together of these mismatched people to hunt down a killer.

it excels at relationships between broken and traumatized characters and i love how readily it dives into the psychological aspects of them, often leading to glimpses of vulnerability which is the main goldmine for me here, especially concerning laszlo. he has such a dog-with-a-bone way of psychoanalysing everyone else but turns vicious when anyone tries to turn it back around on him, and i love how sara is usually the one pushing back.

watching the first season i was very much obsessed with the relationship between all three of the main characters, john included. i think i actually have the first ot3 fic for them on ao3 because my brain took one look at them and just clicked. and while i still love this dynamic, the second season took the time to really highlight the relationship between laszlo and sara, separate from john, and shows just how much growth they had between seasons.

i love how they went from lashing out at each other constantly on both personal and professional fronts, to seemingly having a standing appointment where they drink scotch in sara’s office and enjoy intelligent, somewhat bitchy conversations, while also offering each other the clumsiest, sweetest comforts. they’re just so supportive of each other throughout the second season, such as laszlo telling sara that her father would be proud of her and the multiple occasions that sara defends laszlo and his work at the institute. i would love to just see more of that.

prompts:

if you’re also interested in the ot3, feel free to throw hints of john into the mix. but i’d prefer it to be in the background for this. maybe lazslo and sara commiserate over john pulling away from them both with his relationship with violet. be that with open communication over drinks in sara’s office. i can definitely see them trying to one up each other by prodding where the other hurts over it, as they both still have the tendency to be bastards to each other when they’re hurting.

i love them being platonic friends but i’m also fascinated by how awkward they both are when confronted with anything sexually intimate or slightly kinky. both of them can talk the talk but not walk the walk and i’d kind of love to see them hesitantly coming together to have some of the most awkward but tender sex imaginable.

maybe a case requires sara to fake a relationship and laszlo is the only choice available. having to put their building trust and new emotional understanding up against this fake version of themselves. and maybe they end up blurring the lines along the way.

i am a sucker for magic tricks and laszlo allowing that kid to put a rope around his neck did a lot for me in a number of not so innocent ways. sara clearly found the other tricks endearing and so maybe just a quiet piece where laszlo practices a trick on sara and charming her. maybe it’s another trick that puts him in a vulnerable position and sara acknowledges how far they have come.

a little odd and very specific but HANDS. so many of my favourite moments involve their hands and, along with the added victorian stuffiness, it comes across as strikingly intimate every time they touch hands. from the not so good moment of laszlo slapping sara, to them pouring each other drinks, to him gently lifting her wrist while she’s deep under hypnosis, to them walking into john’s engagement party arm in arm, to laszlo gripping sara’s arm in terror as they race to the hospital. and my absolute favourite time being laszlo drunkenly beckoning sara down from her window. maybe a kind of 5+1 fic about other the times they’ve touched hands and then more.

The North Water (TV)

*Patrick Sumner                   *Henry Drax

admittedly i watched this looking for another ‘the terror’ which was unfair for a start but still couldn’t help colouring my opinion. and unfortunately my love for weird supernatural elements turning up in otherwise normal situations meant i was always going to find something lacking in this show, when compared to ‘the terror.’ nevertheless, i did enjoy it. and this was mostly because of the fucked up relationship between sumner and drax.

every time they were on screen together i was enthralled. the size difference, the height difference, sumner’s prissy attitude against drax’s complete and utter disregard for everyone else. we get mutual dick touching, face cupping, stabbing, tending of wounds, murder threats, drax watching sumner sleep, sumner dreaming about drax stroking his hair, and weirdly civil conversations about morality and the nature of man both before and after said murder attempts.

so basically what i want is just more of them being creepily into each other.

with this one I'm definitely interested in the more darker parts of their relationship, both sexual and not, as i do ship it. if we got matched on this fandom then i would hope that means you’re at least somewhat comfortable delving into that dark aspect, if not the sexual part of it. i’m fine with anything happening between them straying into dubcon territory, i just ask that it not fully cross over into noncon.

prompts: 

there’s an inherent intimacy in tending to someone’s wounds and drax certainly goes out of his way to make every interaction as sexually charged as possible while also just oozing menace. i honestly screamed when he smelled the clean bandage while towering over sumner. so maybe drax hurts himself a lot working as a harpooner and goes to sumner every time and get increasingly creepier about it.

sumner continues to try and prove himself to the crew with some of the more hands-on jobs on the ship. maybe he thinks his surgeon skills mean he’ll be good at skinning seals but he’s wrong. cue drax putting a knife in sumner’s hand and then using his own meaty hand to guide his cuts in the proper way. bonus points for this being after sumner already suspects him, and they both know it. just drax teaching sumner things while being his horrible, intimidating self.

anything after the ship goes down and they’re stranded on the ice. drax being manacled throughout and sumner taking it upon himself to be drax’s keeper in the hopes that he can still see him be served justice in the end. even if that means keeping close, sharing their warmth and sleeping side by side. each one thinking the power balance has shifted in their favour and the different times where they are wrong about that.

maybe instead of the ending, they both learn the whole truth about the plan to sink the ship and also about later being manipulated into killing each other. instead they team up and go after baxter together. i was very much fascinated by sumner’s will graham-esque decent into darkness by the end, even showing up at baxter’s door all prettied up and well dressed for murder. would love something about drax also enjoying this turn, maybe he stands to the side and lets sumner do all the work, content to watch.

The Hangover (Movies)

this is somewhat of a bonus request for me. i wasn’t planning on it but i noticed someone else had nominated it and thought what the hell. they’re comfort films for me, something i put on in the background while i do other things.

at some point i stumbled on a fic for these two and it stuck in my brain until i started shipping them too. now whenever i watch these films i can’t help but notice how much they touch each other, and how phil’s dislike for stu’s girlfriends can easily be read as jealousy. plus i am completely enamoured by the proud look phil gives stu when he finally stands up for himself at the end of the first film, it reads very much as love.

dysfunctional and codependent pretty much covers all the relationships in these films. feel free to lean into that. they’re both kind of assholes but i think that only makes them more compatible to be honest.

prompts:

because of the nature of these films they usually only have each other to rely on and obviously have a long history we’re not ever really shown but understand immediately. the friends to lovers trope could work here. maybe something started when they were younger but now things have changed, they’re older, they have girlfriends, etc. life got in the way but maybe getting black out drunk is the only way they feel like they can still fool around with the guilt.

i also love the trope where the conventionally attractive one is in love with the less conventionally attractive one--it probably doesn’t take a genius to figure out why that is--but it fits perfectly here. as well as jerk characters that are soft for someone in particular. maybe a 5+1 fic for all the times phil tried to make a move but stu didn’t believe him.

i’m just gonna...kinda follow the wishlist outline the secret santa blog laid out here. cutting for a lot of talking about my personal geralt/eskel likes & dislikes lmao. hopefully this helps give you some ideas & if you need clarification on anything just let me know!

my eskeralt tag is #like two drops of water (this link doesn’t work on mobile but i will put it in the tags of this ask). what appeals to me about eskeralt is…aside from vesemir, there’s nobody either of them has known as long as they’ve known each other, and like, there’s nothing really that could ever make them reject each other. whatever happens short of death, there will always be eskel for geralt and geralt for eskel. also i just love both of them individually & it makes me happy to see them in the same place :’D

that said, i have never shipped a fully emotionally functional relationship in my life and eskeralt is not an exception—some of the most interesting points of conflict between geralt and eskel for me include:

their relationship is difficult to maintain; enough contract work for two witchers together is difficult to come by & two witchers are seen as intimidating by townsfolk! also, they’re both men, but ymmv on how much homophobia you want to feature in your version of the Continent. one of the few times they can be freely together is back at Kaer Morhen, and three or four months out of the year is…not a lot.

there’s a significant asymmetry between them where geralt has a much wider social network (both platonically and romantically) than eskel does. while geralt can always go to dandelion or yennefer for what he needs, eskel doesn’t have the same freedom… and eskel is clearly unhappy about yennefer when he and geralt speak to each other in the forktail cave. is there some bitterness there about geralt chasing the attention of sorceresses and whoever else all over the continent when eskel, the ugly, unfamous one, has always been right there for him? methinks the answer may be yes.

geralt is…not a functional emotional support network. like, he barely qualifies as a single emotional support pillar. he’s definitely 100% there for his friends but he’s not fantastic at divining when they need support without them actually out-loud asking, and tbh eskel isn’t necessarily great at this either. both of these boys were seriously failed as children when it came to identifying and communicating their own emotional needs. i love geralt and eskel knowing each other without speaking, the familiarity of presence and body language, but that kind of wordless communication breaks down when it comes to more complicated things like “hey i feel like you don’t value me as much as your many other more attractive friends”!

re: yennefer—yenralt and eskeralt are both OTP and as far as I’m concerned, yen & geralt are in an open relationship that is sometimes on-and-off but never completely finished. you do not need to mention or include her but if you do she and geralt should not be permanently broken up.  

genres—as may be obvious already, i like the complicated messy horrible feelings people have about each other and themselves and the difficulties inherent to making space for another person! angst is my favorite. i...basically never read pure fluff. i crave conflict and feelings. it doesn’t have to be conflict between them but there’s gotta be something in there makin’ life complicated.

i’m also a fan of whump. i’m pretty hard to squick when it comes to gore and various traumatic possibilities. if you are not so inclined, you do not need to include a happy ending. of course, if you are so inclined happy endings are also excellent!

tropes—in no particular order: casefic, confessions/first times, hurt/comfort (or hurt no comfort), miscommunication, mutual pining, relationship negotiation.

canon/pairing-specific tropes, still in no particular order: baby witchers, geralt & eskel being kaer morhen’s partners-in-crime, monster nerds (especially eskel; you may find #kaer morhen biology of monsters 101 useful. in the tags of this ask for mobile), eskel’s self-esteem issues, self-loathing for both of them, eskel calling geralt “wolf” (canon!!!), geralt kissing that notch in eskel’s lip.

i like a lot of different versions of the eskeralt first time; usually people have them figure it out as kids/teenagers, which i like very much, but i also like ‘back at kaer morhen for the first time as an adult witcher and oh shit he grew up hot’ and ‘it’s been decades and we are just now working thru all the emotional garbage that kept us from admitting to each other that we are not just friends’

& if it happens to be relevant, i’m not married to a trans headcanon for either of them but if only one of them is trans, i strongly prefer it to be eskel.

AUs—i usually go for canon or mostly-canon settings, but i’ll give almost any AU a try & i’m a big fan of canon divergence! when it comes to mermaid AUs, college/modern AUs, soulmate AUs, & daemon AUs, i am so incredibly picky that it’s probably not worth it though. i like roleswap AUs like sorcerer!boys a lot, and royalty/royalty-adjacent AUs are definitely my jam but please no warlord!geralt. 

...very much here for warlord!eskel though. 👀

on NSFW—it’s cool! the things that really press my buttons are specific and niche, but i’m also almost impossible to squick, so feel free to include as much or as little sex as you want! i just want there to be emotions. my favorite is sub geralt and bottom eskel (yes at the same time) but i am not picky at all in that regard.

DNW—i immediately hit the back button at any mention of kaer morhen’s library. suicide-related angst not preferred.

ABO: Aside from the fact that it’s based on a flawed study that has been solidly discredited no matter how many right-wing grifters try to sell alpha chad pills, this shit is 100% horny on main all the time and not in a way I find particularly appealing. I can’t say I’ve intentionally read anything tagged with this shit, because seeing it on a taglist actively reviles me.

Soulmate AU: Most of the AU stuff is lumped together elsewhere, but this one has a special place in the colder, more shrivelled bits of my heart. I’ve yet to see this used anywhere other than to justify someone’s OTP in universe and skipping all the, yknow, interesting stuff. Like there’s enough of it out there that I’m sure someone has made an actually good fic out of this. But not for me.

Sex Pollen: I don’t know what this is, but I don’t like the sound of that.

Amnesia fic: Jace Beleren is the only character who gets away with this shit, and even then I’m getting pretty sick of it. If I’m interested in reading about a character, I’d rather read about them, not the post-death-of-personality husk that inevitably leads to bad angst.

Arranged Marriage: Another shitty romance trope to force your leads together. Yawn.

Sharing a bed: I’m not sure what this refers to, unless it’s like, being forced to share a bed because shenanigans, hilarity ensues, which doesn’t sound like the best time.

Pregnancy fic: This is not my kink.

Love Triangle: I’ve seen this play out in real life and it’s ugly, and those examples were relatively low-key. Maybe once I read one that turns into a polyamorous throuple I’ll change my mind.

Mutual Pining/Unrequieted Love: Part of the problem with a lot of the media that gets romantic fanfiction is that they never actually bite the bullet with the romance, just tease that shit for years and years. I’m not sure why you’d want more of that for your wish-fulfillment.

Meh tier

Fix-it-Fic: Undoubtedly whoever is writing these have a different definition of “fixed” than I do. My main issue with these, however, is that a lot of them are for things with perfectly fine endings that just didn’t have the ship they wanted or were not a happily ever after. With that in mind, some of them are pretty golden (TLCstuck comes to mind).

Angst/Hurt and Comfort: I graduated from angsty teenager to depressed adult a long time ago.

Bodyswap: Your Name is overrated. (editor’s note, Raderph has never seen Your Name.)

Crackfic: The most hit or miss thing on this entire list. Good crackfics can be absurdist brilliance, bad ones are late 00’s randumb but somehow worse. With that in mind, crack ships can be a lot of fun.

All these generic-ass AUs: Man I gotta probe someone’s mind who’s into this stuff, because it’s never appealed to me. If I’m looking at an AU, I’d much rather it be characters in an actually interesting scenario or world rather than just Starbucks or Hogwarts with the serial numbers filed off. Throw ‘em in Mad Max or something, not Jane Austen. You get the idea.

Huddle for Warmth: As a Perth bloke who’s never experienced snow this is completely unrelatable to me.

Enemies/Friends to Lovers: Look I’m a refined homestuck fan we perfected this shit 10 years ago.

Dark Fic: Another hit or miss one, but unfortunately the majority of them are pizza cutters. All edge, no point.

First Kiss: Romantic awkwardness can be cute, but my cringe threshold is often too low for the high school shenanigans this tends to entail. With that said, I’m writing about fanfiction tropes on my tumblr blog, so maybe the cringe was inside me all along.

Time Loop: This is in meh because I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever stumbled across it in fanfiction but also I can’t imagine it’s done well that often.

 Ok tier

Gen fic: …doesn’t this just mean a fanfic that isn’t a crossover or a shipping fic? That this is separate here implies that it’s notable when a fic isn’t one of those things, which…. is depressingly fair.

Crossover: Lotta bad ones out there. Lotta good ones. If it’s a crossover with two things I really like I’m probably gonna enjoy it, and some- particularly those where it’s basically just an AU with characters from one universe slotted into another- work nicely imo.

Humor: why is this a tag yes I like it when things are funny a lot of people aren’t going to be funny though

Major Character Death: Fuck me up. I wanna cry motherfucker.

Slow Burn: I can’t even justify liking this to be honest. I think it’s a lot like how slice of life anime go, where its just characters you like doing things and slowly developing characterwise and relationshipwise. Which if you like it you like it.

Fluff: Fuck me up. I wanna cry motherfucker. (but of joy)

In vino veritas: This is a pretty dumb trope but I can’t help but enjoy it. Sloppy drunken makeouts into morning after oh god what have I done is extremely unfun in real life but pretty funny when it happens to someone else.

Missing scenes: But what if I want to see what happens when Barry gets his pokemon’s teeth kicked in by Jupiter, huh? This is just wish fulfillment for trivia/minutiae nerds, which unfortunately I am one of.

Fake relationship: Another dumb trope that I cannot defend. It’s a cute dynamic that often really works. don’t judge meeeeee

 Good tier:

Established Relationship: If I want to read about my ship, I want to read about them being in a relationship, which means that if it was already established and we could skip all the BS that’d be great……… is this so hard

Unhappy ending: Fuck me u-okay not doing that a third time. Sometimes you’re sad and you want somewhere to put that sad. With that in mind, the meta-unhappy ending, AKA a great fic that hasn’t been updated in years (I could name a few…dozen) is the worst fanfiction trope and I want it to go away.

Canon Divergence: I find “What if” a lot more interesting that fix-it stuff because the former has variety. It’s really interesting to see events from a story divert and follow different beats, so long as those beats make sense to the overall context.

2. What character(s) do you find the most difficult to write for? Why? 

Characters that don’t get much of a reaction from me from the beginning or at any point, and characters I have never considered writing before (like Bruno). Never feel like I’d write them so I never put thought in their character and stories. 

3. Do you have a favorite scene you’ve written from [Fanfic Name] story/chapter? 

Yeah, from Two Fingers Crossed Over Your Lips, Chapter 8: Domestics (Orinthoptershipping). It’s when Crow is laying on top of Bruno on the couch, and they share a kiss. Crow is flirty, and Bruno is cute. I think this is the best example of my portrayal of Crow, lol. 

4. Did you have any ideas that didn’t make the final cut of [Fanfic Name]? 

No, for the most part, I end up using pretty much everything I write out. I’m the kind of person to go back and cut out entire scenes because I tend to write out scenes I like/want to do and find ways to connect them together. It can be kind of counterproductive because some scenes might actually pull you away from the plot you wanted, but I never never plot before I write, lol. 

It doesn’t mean, however, that that I have never ended up writing something bigger than I expected. Currently, it’s The Supreme King’s Husband (Prologue) because I just wanted to add in Yūsei and Kizuna, omgs. QWQ

5. Do you listen to music when writing? 

Yes, I do. It both keeps me focused and distracted at the same time.

A lot of Joji, Jack Strauder, Oliver Tree, CUCO, and the like. Pretty much this mix. 

7. What story/headcanons do you feel the proudest of? 

I really love my headcanon of Crow being masculine leaning genderfluid afab (assigned female at birth). It’s really fun exploring this headcanon, and I always write Crow with this in mind. However, it’s only 5D’s Crow, not Arc-V Crow. They are both Crow but, in a lot of ways, are essentially two different characters, and I’m very attached to the former. Crow didn’t start doing he/him stuff until he was, like, nine, and Yūsei and Jack have been super supportive about it since the beginning. Crow was she one day, and he the next day. Still Crow. ^^ This is from one of my many Crow WIPs:

"It doesn’t matter how I look or what I call myself, I’d always be their friend, and they’d always be my brothers. The bond we share is irreplaceable, and I’m thankful to have met them in the first place. They’ve always supported me, and they know it’s my right to tell people about me, when and how. Crow has two feminine outfits he wears occasionally: a yellow dress with red flats (a gift from his girls), and a yellow blouse with a green plaid skirt and black knee highs. To go with these looks, he wears his hair down with his headband around his neck and shiny lip loss Trudge bought for him.

One-shots by a long shot, lmao. That being said, I sometimes don’t finish one-shots either. 

9. If you had to assign a theme song to [Fanfic Name], which would you assign?

I don’t think in music. I do that thing where you pick a song and write a fic with it but not the other way around.   

10. What is the line you’re proudest of from [Fanfic Name]? 

One of my favorites, from the aforementioned Chapter 8: Domestics (Ornitoptershipping):

Closing his eyes, Bruno was taken back to the beach, the one he woke up at with no memories, but this time, he didn't feel the confusion, nor the faint touch of grief at the bottom of his heart. Instead, he only felt the quiet crash of the waves on his skin, the sun shining brightly over his head. This was now a memory he remembered twice.

(I really like this one-shot a lot, lol.)

11. How would you describe your style? (Character/emotion/action-driven, etc) 

A lot of dialogue, stream of conscious narrative. I think. I never really thought about it.

I don’t really have one at the moment. I don’t read a lot, lol.

I got more serious about it in high school, but I think I started during middle school? KHR was a thing then, lol.

From YGO, probably The Distance of Time which features Orinthoptershipping. It’s very dialogue heavy, but it was a lot of fun. I’m very thankful of the people who took the time to read it, and even more those who commented and gave feedback. 

16. What fanfic tropes do you avoid writing for? 

I don’t do gore, violence, or torture. I don’t dislike them, I just don’t write them (so I don’t have any practice either). 

17. What fanfic tropes do you gravitate to writing for? 

I love ones that explore the idea of soulmates. I’m a big fan of the soulmates AU, but I love the different ways that people just complete each other that borders on more realism than trope. I mostly write fluff though, and attempts at humor because I think I’m funny. 

18. Do you prefer editing as you write, or waiting until it’s finished? 

I edit as a I write, which is bad because I don’t edit afterwards and miss typos (lol) and sometimes makes writing take longer to finish. 

19. What words do you think you tend to use the most? 

Epithets probably; otherwise, I don’t know. 

20. What feedback makes you the happiest to hear? 

I love comments that think my pacing is good and my character interpretations are great. If someone tells me that they can imagine this happening in canon, I’m over the moon. 

21. Is there an idea you’ve always wanted to write, but haven’t yet? 

Yes, and they’re all WIPs. 

22. Do you enjoy making OCs for your fanfics, or prefer sticking to canon characters? 

I mostly stick to canon characters and don’t like doing OCs (unless they’re extras or side characters). Writing OCs makes me a little uncomfortable actually because I fear veering into self-inserts which I cannot write because that’s even worse than doing OCs. The only OCs I like do are OC babies of my favorite ships. 

For YGO, I currently have two: Sky Hogan, the daughter of Crow (Papa), Jack (Father), and Yūsei (Dad); and Mira Princeton, the daughter of Chazz (Mama) and Jaden (Dad).

23. How much do you stick to canon? 

I try to write characters based off of canon as much as possible. If I don’t see a character doing something, then I don’t write them doing that thing. I’m more about filling in blank spaces than trying to rewrite inked ones. 

24. Do you prefer AUs with the characters, or sticking to the original universe? 

I do original universe most of the time. 

25. What scene in [Fanfic Name] took the longest to write? What was difficult about it? 

Smut scenes because they are pretty much one continuous scene, lololol. There’s no scene changes for the most part, so keeping up momentum is a must and a difficulty. 

26. Are titles for your stories easy to come up with? 

I suck at making titles. I can have whole fics done but back petal so hard because I forgot to give it title. 

27. What time of day do you prefer to write? 

Past bedtime.

Writing it. I don’t brainstorm or outline, I just write what comes to mind. I brainstorm only if I need to connect things together. Finishing it is a close second.

I never write down my ideas; it’s either I start on a WIP or I don’t. What I decide to write depends on my mood.

I write for three hours and produce only a thousand words, smh. Agony.

Fluff with subtle angst, I guess.

1. If you had to change the pairing’s very first meeting, how would you change it? 3. What is your favorite AU/trope/prompt idea for this pairing? 14. Is there a pairing that you think rivals them? 

1. If you had to change the pairing’s very first meeting, how would you change it?

However unlikely, I really really want them to have met previously as children. I’m a talking a very brief encounter, which Natsume might have trouble even recalling but which Tanuma would turn over and over in his head for years after. I feel like I maybe(?) read a fic along these lines where they met at a temple when they were kids so if that’s your idea I’m sorry for shamelessly expanding on it and please link me to your fic! But how I’d imagine it would be as follows: little Natsume gets carted along to a family function by foster-parents-du-jour who don’t really want him there (similar to how Shigeru first found him). So he’s kind of wandering these temple grounds and making himself scarce, and he stumbles into this other boy sitting sort of hunched over beneath a very large very old tree. And up in the branches of the tree, watching all this, is a very intent, very hungry youkai (which possibly can’t come down out of the tree, it’s hallowed ground and whatnot). And little Tanuma here’s got a horrible headache, his forehead pressed against knobbly little knees trying not to be sick, and he just about jumps out of his skin when this other kid just bursts out of nowhere, yelps instead of introducing himself, then grabs his wrists and starts yanking him away from the tree like it’s on fire. And then little Natsume proceeds to haul him to his feet, steer him out from under the tree and over to the nearest temple building, but not before pausing to deliver a sharp “stay away!” back up into the tree branches. And little Tanuma just gapes, and little Natsume just gapes right back for a long moment, still holding onto Tanuma’s arms. Finally he blurts out a quick, “stay inside, you’ll feel better, don’t go near that tree again,” before excusing himself and taking off again. And Tanuma’s feeling too poorly to go after him or argue, but when he does go inside he feels much better. And he can’t get the encounter out of his head for years to come, wondering what that other boy saw, where he is now, if they’re the same. And he doesn’t immediately put it together when they meet again in high school, but when he does it takes quite awhile before he works up the nerve to ask Natsume if he remembers that day.

3. What is your favorite AU/trope/prompt idea for this pairing?

A perennial favorite trope for these two is just. Peaceful, idyllic fluff where they’re free to be Dorks In Love and neither of them has to be stressed out about anything, I can literally never get enough of that shit because god do they deserve it. But. The fics that are nearest to my heart are ones involving either of them being Very Gentle with the other during instances of Bad Brain Stuff. It’s really interesting with these two because I think they both generally have a pretty good intuition about when the other’s having a tough time, but they are really lousy at actually communicating which can just compound the issue, and that’s true in multiple instances in canon. But there’s a reason that there’s an abundance of fic featuring Tanuma being very soft and patient when Natsume’s under bombardment from anxiety or past traumas. And, of course the literal saved-you-from-a-horrible-death kind of fics, but usually the angsty brain stuff is pretty inextricable from the life-threatening situational fics. Another point strongly in the favor of the hurt-comfort trope in fics is the fact that Tanuma gets to feel like he’s doing something, like he can’t punch a youkai in the nose for Natsume’s sake but he’s got a first aid kit and a comfortable bed and empathy in spades when Natsume needs him. 

 Rarer and vastly underrated, though, are fics where it’s Natsume helping Tanuma through his own issues. He’s got like. Textbook anxiety symptoms, probably doesn’t do well in crowds, and his self-esteem’s (canonically) in the negatives— as of the Sasame arc Natsume’s only really just realized how deeply the self worth thing runs, and every time in canon Natsume’s ever tried to tell him “stop doing stupid stuff, I care about you, you idiot,” Tanuma’s just like *blink-blink-does-not-compute* “ok, see you at school, bye now—“ And Natsume understands so many of the things Tanuma struggles with, isolation, loneliness, feeling worthless and not really having anyone around to contradict that sentiment. And I just. I am so, so here for Tanuma feeling loved and cared for (speaking of, thank you taizi for my life).

Oh, and real quick, another great idea that needs more fic: Tanuma actually getting to become a badass exorcist. Actually just. Give this boy more fics in general because he deserves the whole world, and specifically give us exorcists who are decidedly not the two stellar examples of humanity we’ve got in canon. But I digress.

14. Is there a pairing that you think rivals them?

Ahh, nishinatsu, for starters. This is largely @taizi‘s fault in terms of the vast body of excellent work they’ve produced I have always always always been weak for loud bombastic ray-of-goddamned-sunshine characters paired with the quiet characters. That’s most often my go-to ship in any given fandom, and even as a side character Nishimura’s intuition about what Natsume needs or wants is so spot-on, and that of course is true of Kitamoto as well.

The other, much weirder ship, and this is ENTIRELY TAIZI’S FAULT, is Tanuma and Shibata. It just. Since they referred to it as a soulmates ship in empty hands, it just stuck in my head and refused to leave me alone, because I wanted to understand how that would even work because they’re so radically different, and tai’s got a wip which I love exploring the dynamic of this weird little ship that would require so much energy and effort from both parties.

Slow burn or love at first sight?: Give me ALL the slow burn. Of all of my canon ships I can’t think of any off the top of my head that didn’t have the slow burn factor (except Ned/Cat who sort of had a version of it pre-series). 

Fake dating or secretly dating: People pretending to have feelings WHILE pretending not to have feelings WHILE having to hide their real feelings? yessss gimme all the pining.

“Oh no, there’s only one bed” or long distance correspondence: I’m a simple girl.

Hurt/comfort or amnesia: H/C > basically everything for me honestly, it is my Favorite Trope

Enemies to lovers or best friends to lovers: Enemies to friends to lovers is where it’s at, but we’ve gotta have that animosity in there for extra kick.

Mutual pining or domestic bliss: I enjoy some good domestic bliss now and then but the YEARNING, people.

Smut or fluff: I like both but there are some ships that I can’t ever see as fluffy while smut works in just about every situation.

Fantasy au or modern au: In my fandoms that usually just means no powers or no spaceships. I’m always up for a Harry Potter AU though.

Tropes, tropes... I like what is called "unsexy erotica" by some author on ao3. Like, when characters are processing their feelings and it's the end it's not really sexy though it still somehow amazes me. It's not really a trope though, I saw only one fanfic with that.

I love redemption arcs made well, bad people turning good and having the love no one ever gave them before (duh)

Definitely soulmates au, it makes me cringe somehow. Or is it not a trope? Whatever

Objectively it will be the main character of any series cause they have the most interactions. For me personally it's Enji cause I love him right now and I like to explore his relationship with everyone, like, I can occasionally ship him with Hawks, All Might, Burnin', Rei and some OCs

Also I probably started to ship huwumi because of fanbase. I just never thought of the ship. But the most important deed is that fanbase brought me Dabi is Touya theory. Define "ship war"? I sometimes enjoy observing people arguing but mostly I am annoyed when someone shit on character or ship. So sometimes I guess I can write something like "bitch can you stop" but usually I try to stay out of it. I guess I am pro-shiping and anti anti most of the time

It depends. I mostly don't like smut just for smut but if there's some feelings and processing of them, ya know... I actually like comedy more than pure fluff, I am kinda Mr Nighteye and believe in power of humor

Nothing in particular but when a characters does something stupid/risk his life to save/help their love interest. Like, when Zenitsu wet to spiders forest to save Nezuko... Or when Jean saved Mikasa from titan.

Have fun yourself and don't ruin it for others. You are free to block anyone and anything, it doesn't make you a bad person. And also try to think critically about views shared on social networks, like, not everything in true.

I'll also add here about media affecting reality: aS A fuTuRE PSyChoLoGisT I can say that YES, THEY DO AFFECT EACH OTHER. But often Internet can't get all the nuances and ends up censoring everything. In university we had an assignment where we analyzed modern media. And TV news collected around 30 media risks meaning that materials can affect (usually child's) brain in negative way. What now, are we supposed to not show violence and war? "Destroy everything that can traumatize a child" is a bad solution because of many reasons. Kids are not supposed to read 18+ content, kids are not supposed to spend time on Internet without parental control, kids are not supposed to watch a lot of stuff without an adult's presence. But they do and it's not fault of people who create 18+ / "problematic" content.

Yes, I do, if it's not self-insert OC, you know? I have some myself but usually not for shipping
