bro is intensely emetophobic, he pretends to not be afraid if somebody throws up, but is internally PANICKING.

this boy picks and bites at his nails like a fiend. darry and soda tried lemon juice at one point because he almost chewed down to the nail bed, but that just made it WORSE, so they stuck to putting tape over his fingers.

i know for a fact that his socks hardly ever match. or they have holes in them, he does NOT care as long as he has socks on in the first place hes chill

speaking of socks, he cant sleep without them on. HATES the feel of the sheets on his skin, always sleeps with socks on NO MATTER WHAT.

whenever the curtis fam would go to the country before… the accident… pony would roll down hills and shit and get absolutely eaten by ants but would always come back acting like nothing happened so mrs. curtis wouldnt get worried, when in reality hes literally itchy and sad all over (this actually happened trust i was the ant hill)

the type of kid to gasp at parts in a book/movie hes already seen/read a MILLION times before.

darry and soda and him cut eachothers hair for eachother every now and then, only if it gets waaay too long, especially after the book events and pony had to cut the bleached hair off, darry helped him for sure while he talked to soda

comes home after a track meet and just falls asleep, still in his sweaty uniform just falls asleep and takes up the ENTIRE BED, soda is annoyed but just pushes him to the side or gives up and sleeps on the floor

didnt really react at first when his parents died, took a few minutes to register the news after the cops came by and told them, then just started SCREAMING and sobbing, clinging onto soda for dear life and just yelling over and over again in denial, didnt sleep for two or three days after. just thinking it over.

Hajime has many friends.

That’s just how it is. 

He’s a good man, friendly, helpful. He might have a little bit of a temper at times, but he knows how to take a joke. 

He is, without a shadow of a doubt, the love of your life. You just haven’t told him that yet.

Ah, that got out wrong. You love him, you’ve told him, just not the extent of it all.

“And it’s okay with you?” He asks after dinner, his underarms covered in soapy bubbles as he attacks the aftermath of cooking dinner in the sink.

“Sure,” you’re on drying duty today, sipping wine as you wait. “Are you nervous?”

“I’m not nervous,” Hajime answers in a tone that’s decidedly nervous. 

“You sound nervous.”

“I’m not nervous.” He coughs, a little exasperated. You hum as if deep in thought. You could step forward and bite his nose. It would definitely pull him out of whatever 

nervous funk he’s currently in.

“So your friends-”

“Yeah?”

You stop. Hajime rarely ever interrupts you. He’s definitely nervous.

“Tell me about them.”

“Well, there’s not much to tell, really. We went to high school together.”

“Mhm, you’re a dirty liar.”

Hajime stiffens but then his shoulders relax and he laughs, in that self-conscious way he only does when he starts comparing himself to others.

Oh. 

“Well, there’s Matsukawa and Hanamaki,” he explains now, calmly, as if anything before hadn’t happened. “They’re menaces, both of them. You’ll love them.”

“Not too much, hopefully. I’m a taken woman.”

Red spreads across Hajime’s cheeks and he smiles, a little brighter now. 

“You can slap them if they’re too forward. They can take it.”

“Mhm, I love using violence.”

He laughs, softly and proudly, the sound rich like molten chocolate.

“And then there’s Oikawa.”

“Ah,” you nod. “The famous Oikawa.”

Stiff shoulders, a tense pull to his lips. “He’s that famous?”

“In this house he is, isn’t he? You’ve talked a lot about him.”

Understanding dawns slowly on him. “You have no clue who he is.”

“Should I?”

“Well, he’s a famous player-”

“Darling, Honey, Light of my life” Hajime grins, bright red and flustered, but he grins. “You know I only learned about the existence of Volleyball after I met you.”

“Still,” he insists and you decide to ditch your dishtowel and your wine in favor of sidling up to him, close enough that he lets go of the baking tray he’d been scrubbing. 

When he grabs you by the hips to hold you close, soapy water soaking through your clothes, you know it was the right thing to do.

“You know I love you, right?” You ask, resting your forehead against his. His eyes are pretty from this angle.

“I know,” he repeats low. “Doesn’t hurt to hear it again, though.”

“I love you,” you tell him, emphasis on every word. “It’s not you to be so self-conscious.”

“I am when it’s about something important.”

You kiss him instead of answering. Sometimes words lack something only actions can convey.

“Still nervous?” You ask when you slip into the passenger seat of his car.

Hajime pulls you in instead of answering, kisses you in the parking lot of what will soon become your shared apartment.

“Never with you.”

breaking down arcane's s2 intro

this intro sequence is so damn good - i spotted new symbolic details every episode. so here's a post about everything i noticed!

spoiler warning for the whole show!

everyone featured in this intro is dressed very plainly, in white underclothes, showing how much this sequence is about where people are at emotionally, a commentary on vulnerability. this is a big theme this season. even the setting is plain, highlighting only the characters in a way that feels like a mental landscape.

immediately, we see vi wiping away her face tattoo as if its shallow ink, naturally showing how she betrays her own values and personhood in (briefly) becoming an enforcer, helping caitlyn gas the fucking undercity, and hunt down her sister.

i saw a post that pointed this out, so i cant take credit for it; ekko standing there forms shadows that mimic the hands on a clock, foreshadowing his time travel powers.

viktor is almost entirely obscured in an oversized cloak, reaching to pick up a mask and contemplate it. his entire personhood is murky, in question. hes about to don an identity much larger than himself. that being fantasy jesus the herald of course. the mask will be him taking on that role, as well as eventually putting it on to suppress his humanity entirely, even in a literal sense when he changes forms.

next we get embessa, sitting regally, surrounded by fallen petals and holding a black rose in her hand, examining it. this reflects her history with the black rose, the conflict - her son and the council member die for it, and countless others im sure. but shes still got her predatory gaze fixed on it. a slash of light goes through her - perhaps symbolizing a break in the family legacy, between their past and present. mel will be taking over and changing things, changing the family's relationship with magic.

caitlyn psyches herself up, then hesitantly steps out past a curtain into a lit space, tilting her chin up after a moment in a show of bravado. clearly showing her "stepping onto the stage" and into her role of new power; both under embessa and in the wake of her mother's legacy as a councilmember.

jayce squints in the face of a floodlight, bringing up his hand to block out. the light is the arcane, and he blocks it out in his refusal to let it take over the world with viktor's perfect evolution.

embessa crushes the rose in her hand, but curiously, her eyes glow. perhaps showing that her being with whoever mel's other parent is, the magical one, is her introducing magic to the family?

then we cut to mel, who again has that slash of light going down the exact center of her face. shadowy hands reach out to her, and her expression if one of apprehension. she closes her eyes as they close in. the slash is back representing this divide, this change, and most importantly her decision regarding this change. she hasnt made it yet, and despite all signs pointing to her needing to, she closes her eyes to the bigger picture, her mothers influence and agents creep in, nearly overtaking her. the black rose does literally capture and almost kill her.

jinx waves her flag, and we see her shadows multiply behind her. she has unwittingly started a revolution with her image, people are inspired by it and use it to push for change. we zoom into her expression and its uncertain, and yet full of wonder. she is reconciling with what shes created, this revolution in her name.

we cut to vi's face, hardened in determination, and then to her and caitlyn facing off. theyre intimately close, and yet they crash into each other just a moment later, obviously showing theyre conflicting ideals this season literally breaking them up. this is in direct relation with the previous shot of jinx, because it comes down to her and caitlyn doing anything she can to hunt her down.

caitlyn is now alone, breathing heavily, and her fingers around her face form a shadow of a clawed crown. shes wearing it now, but her leadership is a violent one. she peers up through her fingers, towards the light. perhaps realizing what shes done?

ekko runs forward and then rewinds time. time travel. not much else to say here LMAO

we go back to the same shot of mel from before, but now she opens her eyes and roars, the shadows immediately being driven away. she is stepping up, taking charge of her own destiny, influences be damned. next shes sitting on the same couch her mom was earlier, picking up that same black rose with intrigue. she is finally learning what it is, how it relates to her family and herself. picking up gently where her mother refused to.

we see, jayce again, but now from his own perspective, raising up his hand to the bright light, which then cuts to viktor about to don the mask. cut again to jayce, from behind, still squinting into that light. he is the last one to stand against viktor's glorious revolution, to save his last dreggs of humanity.

all that, in just over a minute.. so fucking good. not to mention the various frames that change from episode to episode, which arent really visible unless you slow down the footage, but hint to various happenings.

Analysis on Katsuki’s Ending

Spoilers for the end of the manga and leaks of volume 42

Long analysys thread:

I am devastated because of the leaks

Because of Katsuki.

His journey throughout the story consisted about taking accountability for his mistakes: for the bullying he did.

And oh, he did learn. He did take accountability.

From win to save, he learned to save to win. He helped Izuku train OFA. Got impaled and saved Izukus life.

Then, he apologized without expecting an answer, because he meant it. Katsuki understood that Izuku didn’t have to respond. (Seriously, what would he say? Thank you for taking accountability for making me miserable during highschool?) Izuku left that past behind ever since he took the “Deku is worth nothing” and rephrased it to: the Deku who can do his best. What I most like about his apology, is that Deku didn’t answer, and Bakugo didn’t demand nor expected one, because it wasn’t necessary. It was Bakugo’s thing to do.

Then, Katsuki died while thinking about him, because Izuku went from the kid he pushed away, to a man he admired:

Fighting through the pain: this is the path you have been walking all this time.

I have to win, right, Izuku?

Can I still catch up to you?

Then, he got another chance at life. He promised that he would never get in between his way ever again, recalling the times he used to bully him.

Here is what makes me weak for him. The way he never forgived himself for what he did. Katsuki was linked to Izuku forever with that way of thinking and acting: although he apologized and walked forward, he never forgot what he did. And he atoned and atoned and atoned. Which isn’t bad. Don’t get me wrong.

But everyone has to move on: he apologized. got impaled for him. And then, much later, built Izuku a suit. HE, of all people, the one who used to bully Deku for being quirkless, gave him his dream BACK.

That’s another fact that makes me weak. Because Bakugo’s heart changed: he believed quirkless people were losers. He bullied. Now, he understands his mistakes and has tried to atone for so, so long. He is not the same and will never do that again.

(What about his foul mouth? You could ask. Man. Thats literally a façade. Or that’s how I interpret it. Bark don’t bite. Bro is a dumbass, but is not a bad person.)

All this leads me to the dream he made for himself and Izuku in it: to compete forever. He never cut the link to Izuku. Never got over him. Never stopped atoning.

To sum up: it hurts me that after so much atoning for Izuku, he never atoned for himself. He just got attached to him, revolved his life to Izuku.

Izuku did move on: life makes you walk different paths. He found something in teaching that, clearly, topped off his desire to compete with his childhood friend. He moved on. Remember: 8 years have gone by. Izuku moved on from OFA but Katsuki DIDN’T!

And that’s why his ending hurts. Because he never let go. And that makes me so, so, so sad.

In twitter some say it’s karma. Deku doesn’t have to stick to him for his entire life and I agree: I am happy for Izuku and the path he forged to walk. A new dream. A new person. Not the 17 year old he was.

But Katsuki never let go of the dream he built at 17 and always knew that he would ensure Izukus his dream back. (While Izuku didnt know it would happen so he moved forward…)

Izuku is noble and wants to keep teaching, he has kids to motivate and yada yada. It’s amazing how he has evolved as a character and as an adult. His dream isn’t the same as Katsuki’s anymore. Not the same 17 year olds wanting to compete for the rest of their lifes.

And now, cut to the present. Izuku rejects Katsuki because his dream has changed. And it didnt happen quickly because there has been a timeskip. However, readers believe it was rushed because all that introspection was cut. I don’t blame you, in fact, I agree with you all. An elypsis wasn’t the right choice to make, but how could have Horikoshi finished the manga!? He cant keep drawing forever! This mangaka was suffering the last year, taking a lot of breaks because his health was in shambles. Therefore, a timeskip it was. But maybe not the best choice to the story, I guess.

But stories sometime need to be concluded. Cant keep holding on for them forever. You can blame it on writing decisions. Anyway, let’s get back to the main point.

The ending hurts from Katsuki’s perspective because he got rejected, because he never let Izuku go. And now, he has a chance to. To develop himself as a man separate of Izuku.

As a shipper it hurts like hell, but man. Katsuki did love him. Take it as romantic or platonic i dont care. But Katsuki cared. A lot. Izuku, I am sure that too. But rejecting the offer doesn’t mean he hates him or is a bad person: he never asked for that suit, he reshaped his dream.

And I repeat. The truth hurts. Reality hurts. And still, this ending was… truly realistic, from their point of view. In that manner, it satisfies me. But on the other hand, as a fan, as a shipper, a fanfiction writer, the ending hurts and I will cope with fan content on my behalf.

The ending wasn’t ass. It was realistic. That’s my take.

(I won’t talk about Izuocha. I do believe it was rushed and off. That’s for another post. Pls don’t talk about Izuocha in this post since they are not the main focus)

I have just had thoughts.

We know that Thule will obviously feature again in The Wicked Powers. CC has said that the location of the black volume of the dead, as well as what happened to thule!simon, will be addressed. What i just realized after rereading TDA for the tenth time is that almost all the clues given so far relate to Thule.

The last king of Faerie? In Thule the Unseelie King united the courts and is currently ruling over them with Erec as his heir. And Julian told Thule!Livvy his true name before leaving. And Thule!Liivvy is around seventeen or eighteen, which is the age Kit and Ty will be in TWP. I cant help but assume that Kit and Ty will encounter Thule!Livvy at some point because they're around the same age- maybe by Kit and Ty somehow ending up in Thule!Faerie?

Also, Thule!Mark is missing and we can assume he's with the Wild Hunt in Faerie, which does not have the blight as the mortal world in Thule, meaning there's a strong chance that he and Janus (due to his extra angel blood) are literally the only two candidates for still retaining their Shadowhunter powers, which may tie in to the third book's title- The Last Shadowhunter. And obviously the second book is related to the epilogue of the Lost Book of the White, and the events of the Black Volume of the Dead.

Besides, the problem that Dru goes to Faerie for at the start of TLKoF? I bet it's Jaime being missing. CC said everyone's looking for a solution to the problem, so either everyone at this point knows about the missing Jaime and can't trace him in Faerie (because Kieran would know where he is on Unseelie lands), or it's another demonic problem. I bet the separate problem Kit and Ty are having is related to Livvy's ghost.

Also, remember the dreams Clary had in the early mortal instruments? Of her seeing Jace and Sebastian circle each other, Jace with white wings and Sebastian with white wings? Well, that didn't happen, but there IS someone who looks like Sebastian and has black wings- Ash. And conversely there IS someone who looks like Jace, too- Kit. Who hasn't sprouted white wings yet, but has fey heritage just like Ash. They're technically related, even- the Seelie Queen is Kit's great great great whatever grandmother, so they even partly trace the same lineage. Somehow I think the prophetic dreams Clary had were not of Jace and Sebastian, but Kit and Ash.

All this to say i have no idea how I'm going to wait 1.5 more years for TLKoF. Istg I'll have finished a PhD by the time this series finally ends

The late-night quiet of the city was a stark contrast to the chaos of earlier battles. The dim light of a single lamp in the corner of the room cast a soft glow over the space, illuminating the figure sprawled out on the couch. Hazard, the ever-charismatic explosives expert, lay with his arm draped lazily over the back of the sofa. His dog, a scruffy mutt named ”Maisie” that he rescued years ago, was curled up at his side, tail wagging faintly as you approached.

“Sweet Pea, you’re finally done tinkering?” he teased, a grin spreading across his face as he looked up at you. “Thought you’d never sit your lovely self down.”

You rolled your eyes playfully but couldn’t help the warmth that spread through you at the nickname. Hazard had a knack for flustering you, and he took full advantage of it every chance he got.

“Well, someone has to make sure your gear doesn’t blow up in your face” you shot back, plopping down beside him. The couch dipped slightly under your weight, and Hazard immediately shifted to make room, his arm coming to rest around your shoulders like it belonged there.

“Oh, Sweet Pea, that’s why I’ve got you” he said with a wink. “My own personal genius.”

You shook your head, laughing softly, but before you could respond, his dog let out a soft whine and nudged your hand with its nose.

“See? Even she thinks you’ve been workin’ too hard” Hazard quipped, giving the dog an affectionate scratch behind the ears. “C’mon, give her some love before she starts poutin’.”

You obliged, reaching out to rub the dog’s belly. The mutt’s tail thumped happily against the cushions, and Hazard chuckled, his laugh low and warm.

“There’s my Sweet Pea” he murmured, his voice softening as he leaned back against the couch. “Always takin’ care of everyone else. When’re you gonna let someone take care of you, huh?”

The question caught you off guard, and you turned to look at him. His usual smirk was still there, but there was something else in his eyes—something softer, more sincere. You opened your mouth to respond, but he beat you to it, his hand reaching up to brush a strand of hair from your face.

“You’re somethin’ else, Sweet Pea” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “Don’t think I don’t see how much you do for me. For us.”

Your chest tightened at his words, and you felt a blush creeping up your neck. “Hazard, I—”

“Shh” he interrupted, his grin returning but softer this time. “I ain’t lookin’ for thanks. Just wanna make sure you know.”

Before you could respond, the dog shifted, snuggling closer to both of you. Hazard laughed again, the sound like a balm to your tired soul. “Guess she wants us both to stay put” he said, pulling you a little closer. “Not that I’m complainin’.”

You let out a content sigh, resting your head against his shoulder. The warmth of his body, the soft rhythm of the dog’s breathing, and the steady beat of Hazard’s heart under your cheek all combined to create a perfect moment of peace.

“You’re not so bad at taking care of people yourself” you admitted quietly, a smile tugging at your lips.

Hazard’s hand found yours, his fingers intertwining with yours in a gesture so natural it took your breath away. “Only for you, Sweet Pea” he murmured, pressing a soft kiss to the top of your head. “Only for you…” he murmured, his voice warm and steady.

You tilted your head to meet his gaze, the playful spark in his eyes softened by something deeper. Without a word, he closed the distance, his lips meeting yours in a kiss that was unhurried and full of unspoken promises. When he pulled back, his forehead rested lightly against yours, his grin returning with a mischievous edge.

“Now that’s what I call takin’ care of someone” he teased, his voice a low rumble.

You laughed softly, your heart lighter than it had been in days. “Guess I can’t argue with that.”

“Good” he said, pulling you closer until you were practically curled up in his lap. “Because you’re stuck with me, Sweet Pea. And I’m not lettin’ you go.”

The two of you stayed like that for a while, a cocoon of warmth and comfort in the quiet room. His hand traced gentle circles on your back, a soothing rhythm that made your eyelids grow heavy. The dog let out a soft, contented sigh, her tail thumping lazily against the cushions as if to echo the peace in the room.

Hazard tilted his head to press another kiss to your temple, his voice dropping to a low murmur. “Y’know, I never thought I’d get this lucky. You, me, and her—feels like somethin’ outta one of those dreams I never wanna wake up from.”

You smiled against his chest, your fingers curling into the fabric of his shirt. “Then don’t wake up” you whispered. “Stay right here.”

“Forever, Sweet Pea” he promised, his arms tightening around you as if to prove his point.

The world outside could wait. For now, there was only the warmth of Hazard’s embrace, the steady thrum of his heart, and the quiet certainty that this was exactly where you were meant to be.

People who really like shuake also seem to write themselves into a corner wrt Akechi and his relationship to Akiras team. Contrary to popular belief, the team, including Haru, does not hate Akechi. At worst, they tolerate him and deal with his attitude. Hes a good teammate and respectable fighter and the team recognizes that at the end of the day, he was a teenager who was manipulated and abused by a man who saw him as disposable. Just about every thief understands this intimately. They have the same mindset wrt adults who take advantage of the people beneath them. Under different circumstances they wouldve been friends. And if u approach it from that angle, it becomes less about Akechi being the sole person who ‘gets’ Akira, and more about the thieves being the only people in the world who ‘get’ Akechi.

When you expand your thoughts to include the thieves as members of his Team and not roadblocks that get in the way of your ideal shipping dynamic, you allow urself to give Akechi and Akira more depth and nuance to their own relationship.

Akira and Akechi are wildcards; both of them struggle with the face they choose to display to the world. Its the first time Akira interacts with someone who is, at a literal, technical level, his ‘equal’. But Akechi is one of many firsts for Akira yeah? Every thief has their bond with Akira thats completely unique and personal. Akechi will never be the person who witnesses Akiras Awakening, hes never the person who watches Akira have his restless nights alone in the attic, and hes never the person who realizes in real time that the teenager hes housing is just Some Kid, not the delinquent hes been warned about. Hes not Ann or Yusuke, or any of the thieves; he doesnt have the time or experience that they have with Akira, and I think its interesting to explore that part of their relationship, shippy or not.

Akechi is someone who is incredibly lonely and self depreciating despite his cockiness and attitude. He has no positive bonds to speak of save for his connection with Sae. To have him see a team that works together and cares for each other, how do you think he would feel? Out of place? Inferior in some way? Angry about how hes been alone for so long in this single minded quest for revenge? Wouldnt that be a point of struggle between the two of them? I think what makes shuake good for me is knowing that Akechi needs alot of time to heal, and the thieves would want to help with that process. They do it bc they care, bc Akira cares, and bc they trust Akiras opinion (and he trusts theirs in return); if Akira feels like Akechi is someone who can be trusted Now after everything thats happened, then the thieves would do their best to help. And how would Akechi feel about that? Angry about the show of pity? That even now, he has no real say in what happens to him? Or begrudgingly grateful that they are cordial with him? Because they do care, he KNOWS they care, they care TOO MUCH actually; but the one thing he values over brawn and wits is honesty- fighting for what you believe in without having to use soft words to justify it.

Can we talk about how Karen definitely has some sort of PTSD because you can't just wake up one day with a knife and bloody hands and a dead coworker on your carpet one and then be fine. You don't get arrested and then almost strangled to death while in custody and be fine. You don't get kidnapped and threatened and then kill someone in self defense and be fine.

Oh my god can we PLEASE talk about Karen and her trauma oh my GOD.
