❝ HARRY JAMES POTTER DAY, sometimes referred to as hjp day, is a british wixen holiday marking the birthday of the late harry james potter. it is observed on the 31st of july, annually, though celebrations often last through the week. it was officially registered with the british ministry of magic on may 19th, 2014 by minister kingsley shacklebolt.

potter, famous from birth for being the ONLY person known to have survived the killing curse, was a key figure in the fight against he-who-must-not-be-named during the second wizarding war. many credit him as the most important person in bringing about the dark lords eventual demise, thanks to his unique efforts to find and destroy several horcruxes. the campaign for a holiday in potter’s honor was mostly undertaken by his former classmates and freinds, soon after the end of the war. there was some controversy surrounding the date chosen, as many older wixen wanted the day to be the end of OCTOBER ; the date that marked the end of the first wizarding war and the day that potter originally survived the killing curse. ❞

WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE :

IN GODRIC’S HOLLOW : it’s become a bit of a tradition for members of the wixen community around britain ( and sometimes the world ) to make the journey to godric’s hollow as a sort of pilgrimage, if you will. the muggles who live in the village have never quite made sense of the influx of robed individuals they get at the end of july each year, but they’ve long since accepted it happens - and have gone out of their way to encourage that this ‘tourist boom’ continues by turning it into a sort of village wide festival. while they hang bunting, put balloons outside their shops and quietly murmur about how all the inns in town have been booked out for the sixth year in a row, wix make the journey around town, visiting the site of the potters home, and leaving flowers at the statue of them in the square. this, of course, is in place of the fact that no matter how hard they search ( and a small number try their HARDEST ), they’ve yet to find his grave.

IN DIAGON ALLEY : how else would businesses celebrate the birthday of the chosen one, if not by slashing their prices for the weekend of july 31st and holding what some would consider a small street festival? it’s not exactly in good taste, but it did originally come from somewhere well intentioned. the very first alley celebration of harry potters life WAS ministry sanctioned, after all ( even if they’ve since tried to put some distance between them and the capitalists ).

IN HOGSMEADE : it isn’t the only event that happens each year around this time, and it certainly isn’t the biggest ( or most highly advertised - that honor goes to the new nightclub on knockturn alley, who’ve been plugging their free ‘daiqharry’ cocktail with each ticket purchased for entry to their party on the night of the 31st ), but its the one pulled together by madam rosmerta at the three broomsticks that often draws the larger crowd of those who actually knew the boy. the hogwarts professors, sans mcgonagall, often book out one of the back rooms to share a drink the night of his birthday - and many of his peers use it as a way to get together and honor the boy they know they can thank for much of what they have, now ( and that they wouldn’t, without him ).

OUT OF CHARACTER :

'harry potter day’ is a bit misleading, really ; the CELEBRATION of harry potters life and the honouring of a boy who made so many sacrifices for the wixen community spans the entire weekend, usually, and brings with it both... undeniable reverence for him, and a frankly inappropriate amount of commercialism. the recent benefit attack is still fresh in the minds of many, but won’t stop the usual festivities that span the entire country. in godric’s hollow, people carry on the yearly tradition of trying to find his grave site ( while those that know quietly visit to pay their respects ), and on diagon alley, shops cut their prices by half and shopkeeps talk fondly of the boy with messy hair they once had the privilage of serving. there are get togethers across the nation, big and small, but the three broomsticks in hogsmeade is a favorie of many who personally knew him, and who find the ‘holiday’ a rough one to pass.

these are all things you guys can use in your roleplaying this week, but this event is going one step further by asking one more thing of you : this week, you’re encouraged to do at least one flashback thread set at any point in your muses past, even just the last six years, exploring... anything that you want. a key event with another character, the immediate aftermath of the war, a summer visit to hogsmeade before everything went so bad. more than that, you should plot and rp this thread with someone who you either haven’t done anything with, before, or who has a character yours is implied connected to, but you haven’t gotten the chance to explore things with yet. you’re only required to do the one - but feel free to do more, if the muse strikes !

the event officially begins on tuesday the 28th at 12:00am GMT, 10:00am AEST & 12:00pm NZST and monday the 27th at 5:00pm PST, 6:00pm MTN, 7:00pm CST, 8:00pm EST & 9:30pm NST ! it’ll end the same time a week from now, bringing us to august 4th - and catching us up a bit, timeline wise.

you are not under any obligation to pause any threads you currently have going, and are encouraged to put as much a focus on the event gimmick and event itself as you feel comfortable doing !

Thursday - Radiant Plume Fight Night @ 9:30pm EST - Lavender Beds W15, P49 - Ever wanted to chow down on some grub, and sip on primal’s blood while watching two of your fellows beat each other to a bloody pulp? Well, we don’t have actual primal’s blood but we do have the other two things and a pretty damn good substitute for the other! The Radiant Plume is a new tavern opened in the dusty recesses of the Shroud, once a dliapidated cottage revitalized and renovated for your pleasure! The upper floor of the establishment houses a simple tavern with hearty fare and a vast array of alcohols. Just below that in the depths of the Plume you’ll find an open arena that showcases bloody brawls for your enjoyment! Weapons can be used upon agreement and for a price (IC gil), just in case our more lawful patrons decide to cause a fuss, but try not to kill one another. Your mess, your problem. That’s right. The Radiant Plume is a completely neutral ground, where anyone can shed their moral bindings for an evening of bloodsport and a little bit of drinks and dining. The owners only have a few rules: You break it, you buy it. No unsanctioned brawls on the premises. If you kill it, it’s your problem.

Bungie Weekly Update - 2/6/20

This Week at Bungie, we’re calling in reservations.

It’s been a wild week in Destiny 2. Inotam, Oblivion’s Triune, made their grand entrance into the Sundial. Guardians descended upon Mercury, weapons in hand, eager to protect the timeline from certain annihilation. While you’ve prevented the Psions from changing history, this isn’t the last trial you’ll face - not by a longshot.

The first three Empyrean Foundation goals have been met with haste. One billion Fractaline isn’t enough for the Foundation, and the next goal is currently in reach. Your next stop: 2.2 Billion Fractaline donations.

We knew you’d rise to the challenge, but this? This is absolutely insane. Keep that Fractaline coming. We’re seeing quite a few Guardians investing in their Fractaline futures, but many hitting the donation button to quickly earn some sweet Timelost weapons.

The final triumph for the Savior Seal will be completed once the community completes the seventh stage of this event. We’re excited to see a new title in the wild. Players will also unlock the ability to pre-order the Savior Bungie Reward pin once they have completed all Triumphs for the Seal.

Now, let’s look at the calendar. We have some beats to cover that are coming up quick, with a new Season on the way in just over a month! Below, you’ll find details on Crimson Days, Destiny 2 Hotfix 2.7.1.1, and a patch note preview for Season 10.

LOVE IS ALMOST IN THE AIR

Have you been feeling a bit lonely lately? Lacking a partner by your side in the heat of battle? Crimson Days is on approach, bringing the perfect opportunity for you to form an unbreakable Crimson Bond with a fellow Guardian.

Crimson Doubles returns to the Crucible during the event, bringing explosive 2v2 combat to the fold. Stay close to your partner: you’ll each have heightened ability regen as long as you retain your Crimson Bond. If you stray too far away from each other, opponents will be able to see your every move. If you’d rather take your partner out for a stroll in one of Destiny 2’s PvE activities, Shaxx will offer bounties for you to complete in a two-person fireteam.

As you complete Crimson Doubles matches and bounties, you and your partner will be showered in delicious candy hearts. To sweeten the deal, Daily and Weekly bounties will offer double XP. Bright Dust will also be rewarded when completing your weekly bounties.

As you begin to stockpile Confectionary Hearts, they can be exchanged with Lord Shaxx for Crimson Days themed rewards, including two new Exotic Sparrows. Ride in tandem to show the strength of your Crimson Bond!

If this is your first Crimson Days event, or you didn't earn enough hearts in years past, rewards from previous events will also be available to earn alongside the new Sparrows.

Additionally, spare Confectionary Hearts may be exchanged for Warmhearted Gift packages containing Glimmer, with a slight chance for legendary loot. Once you’ve collected both Sparrows and claimed the associated Triumph, an exclusive emblem will become available through Bungie Rewards.

Eververse will feature many items from previous events for Bright Dust, including two new items exclusive to Crimson Days. One new item will be available for Silver only, the Heartfelt Union Multiplayer Emote.

Crimson Days will be available from February 11 to February 18, 2020.

CUTTING EDGE

We’re a little over a month out from the next Season of Destiny 2 and this seems like a good time to start talking about Sandbox. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be covering upcoming changes to weapons and abilities. Some changes will be PvP-centric, while others will bear more of a PvE focus.

Our first subject: Swords.

Some are sharp. Some are blunt. One lets you bend space and time to teleport through enemies. Another has projectiles that can take down foes at range. Since the launch of Destiny 2, we’ve been seeing feedback on general functionality and the team has been kicking around ideas on how to make things a bit more enticing.

After some brainstorming and development time, Swords are receiving a sort of tableflip when it comes to light attacks, heavy attacks, and guarding. While you’ll still rip and tear through opponents, as you would expect from a Sword, most of what you know needs to be unlearned. The blades have been rebalanced, and a new energy meter is making its way to swords. Below, you’ll find a full rundown from our development team.

Dev Team: Swords are getting a little more love this Season. While Swords have been a staple of Destiny ever since their introduction in The Taken King, we felt they were due for an update both to freshen them up, but also to allow us more room to work with them in later releases.

Sword Energy

Swords now have their own reserve of energy that recharges naturally on its own, and is not to be confused with ammo capacity. This energy will overtake your melee slot while you’re wielding a sword and is spent on various actions.

Guarding

Guarding now uses sword energy instead of consuming ammo. Different guards have different consumption rates, damage resistance and behaviors, so be sure to experiment and find a guard type you like. You’ll still need at least one ammo to begin guarding, though.

Back during Season of the Drifter, the Stronghold exotic for Titans was introduced, allowing them to guard with relative impunity and opening up a more interesting opportunities for swords to shine in a variety of content which caused us to take another look at the guard function itself. Although the guard function has always existed, it was never really considered worth the cost. With this change, we hope that players will use their guard intelligently to protect themselves instead of it being an almost unused button. Rest easy, Stronghold has also been modified to still allow Titans a unique guarding experience.

Light Attacks

Grounded light attacks for all Swords will now loop for an infinite combo, and all Swords can cleave.

While the basic three hit combo is quite a staple of melee weapons in many games – In a shooter this leaves the player extremely open to enemies. By letting the light attacks loop, we also push them and the heavy attacks apart further. Cleaving on light attacks was previously only on the Aggressive Swords, but we opted to add it to the rest of them for more hack ‘n slash.

Heavy Attacks

Heavy attacks now consume Sword energy. While you are always able to perform a heavy attack, the attack is stronger when you have full energy, and weaker when you don’t.

A lot of swordplay in many situations simply boiled down to endlessly mashing the heavy attack button instead of mixing up attacks which wasn’t quite the most interesting experience. Do note that aerial heavy attacks as a general rule do not consume Sword energy, but that can vary based on the Sword.

Shield Bypass

A portion of most Sword attacks can partially bypass elemental shields.

We added this to give Swords a little bit of a personality difference from shotguns who share a very similar role in combat as powerful CQC weapons.

In general, Swords have also had some of the damage amounts for different attacks changed, and the various Sword perks have been adjusted. So you’ll want to experiment a bit after the changes hit. We do hope you’ll enjoy the changes.

BLINDED BY THE LIGHT

Hotfix after Hotfix, Destiny Player Support is here for you. Timetables, known issues, and frequently asked questions are handled with care. They approach each conversation with white gloves and gold standards.

This is their report.

CONTRIBUTING TO EMPYREAN RESTORATION On Tuesday, the Empyrean Restoration went live. Player Support noticed that some players were confused on how to participate and contribute their Polarized Fractaline. To do so, players must complete the Bright Light quest from Saint-14. To unlock this quest, players must complete the following prerequisites:

Complete the following quests from Osiris: A Matter of Time.

Then, complete Saint-14’s quests: Tribute to the Colonies, Cornerstone, and A Guardian’s Duty.

CRIMSON DAYS AHEAD Next week, Crimson Days returns to the Crucible. Our Help article will update on February 11, 2020, to bring you updated information about the event, including that it will end at the weekly reset on February 18.

Here are a few known issues about the event:

Players will be unable to accept Lord Shaxx's "Fire of the Crimson Days" emblem if they already have this emblem in their inventory. Deleting the emblem will allow them to accept the new one and complete the “Welcome to the Crimson Days” Milestone.

Players who are removed from a match and rejoin will not be able to respawn until the current round ends. These player will see "Waiting for Ally to Revive" for the remaining duration of the round.

Crimson Days bounties do not advance the Crucible Bounty Vendor Challenge.

HOTFIX 2.7.1.1 AND RESOLVED ISSUES Next Tuesday, February 11, we will release Destiny 2 Hotfix 2.7.1.1. This update will resolve some issues currently affecting players. Here is another preview of some of the issues that will be resolved:

The Efrideet’s Gift Triumph will retroactivity unlock for players who turn in 50 Iron Banner packages in Season of the Dawn.

The Get Closer pursuit will no longer have its progress reset when resetting Infamy. This is retroactive and will auto-complete for any player who has already been above Mythic rank this season.

A Season 9 Iron Banner Triumph has been added that tracks purchased packages from Lord Saladin. This is also retroactive.

Additionally, here’s the timeline for the Destiny 2 Hotfix 2.7.1.1 release on Tuesday:

8:00 AM PST (1600 UTC): Destiny 2 maintenance will begin. Players may experience sign-on issues during maintenance.

8:45 AM (1645 UTC): Players will be removed from activities and will be unable to log in until 9 AM.

9:00 AM (1700 UTC): Destiny 2 Hotfix 2.7.1.1 will be released and players will be able to log in.

10:00 AM (1900 UTC): Destiny 2 maintenance will end.

CURRENT KNOWN ISSUES While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

Players are continuing to report increased Tower load times after Update 2.7.1.

The Playin’ the Odds emblem doesn’t drop and cannot be reacquired from Collections. While we investigate, the only way to receive this emblem right now is to reset your Infamy rank three times in one Season.

In the Bright Future quest, Orbs of Light that are collected sometimes are not accurately reflected in the quest’s progress. Some players have reported that deleting or claiming a bounty may help with progression issues.

Of course, Daisy doesn’t really know this fact about herself and it is potentially the only part of herself that she is afraid of talking about. When her Hogwarts classmates would talk about attractiveness, she would put on a tight smile and try not to lose interest. Try to feel as though she understood that fiery feeling in her stomach. She’s only ever felt it once, after falling deeply in like with a muggle while out on her journey. But, to this day, she tries not to associate with people who only want to talk about how hot so and so is on the Quidditch team. It scares her, feeling different. She fights for those who are, and yet she’s scared of being different too.

PERSONALITY:

+ fearless: A natural born leader, Daisy has never had trouble taking charge and charging into any situation. She knows what is right and always follows that instinct. No one, not even Lord Voldemort himself, could stop her from at least trying to achieve her goals. Some may call her fearlessness careless, but she believes it’s her best quality. To her, if she doesn’t fight for someone, then who will? While it’s a lot to hold on her shoulders, people who are close to Daisy always know that she will stick up for them, no matter what.

+ enthusiastic: Daisy has no problem finding the joy even in the most mundane of times. No matter what the subject, Daisy can find something exciting. While she doesn’t have very many deep friendships, it is the main reason people are so comfortable around her. She loves to make people smile, even if it’s just for a short period of time. And, of course, she is even more deeply enthusiastic about the causes she cares about. Plus, Muggle fantasy books. Blimey, does she love them.

+ generous: Daisy has always found it easy to give instead of take. Her favorite part about holidays was giving gifts; her favorite part of her week during Summertime was working at her father’s restaurant during the hardest of times. She will always lend a helping hand, wherever she can, even if it means sacrificing her own personal happiness.

- aggressive: While Daisy is passionate, sometimes that passion boils into something ugly. Unable to stop herself, she will often find herself asserting her opinions on other people and forcing them into facts. There are many times when this fact has gotten her into trouble, and while she hasn’t found herself in any horrible situations yet, she knows it’s only a matter of time. Especially in the middle of a war.

- stubborn: Daisy does not back down, feet planted firmly into the ground as if she were a one thousand year old tree. If she believes in someone or something, there’s no changing her mind. Similarly, if she dislikes someone or something, you can not make her budge. There’s no grey with Daisy, only rights and wrongs, and you can’t convince her that there might be any other color in between.

- perfectionist: One of Daisy’s biggest problems, one that even aggravates even her, is that she isn’t satisfied unless she’s created something perfect. It’s a habit she wishes she could break, but one that informs almost every decision she makes. She’s relentless in her pursuit of making sure her projects come out perfectly; and if they don’t, well, Daisy doesn’t quite know how to take it.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FAMILY:

Daisy has always considered herself one of the luckier ones. She grew up in a household that knew the importance of allowing their daughter her freedom. They never told her that she shouldn’t; they encouraged Daisy to walk outside of their footsteps; they allowed to ask as many questions as her little mouth could possibly get out (and she had a lot of questions). Of course, this behavior only made Daisy want to be like her parents even more. They were a family of believers. A family who knew kindness as if it were their oldest family friend. Daisy watched as her parents, a witch who was part of the Muggle liaison office, and a wizard who owned a Cuban wizarding restaurant during the day, took up the fight. Daisy grew up in a world where a late night meant spending extra time at her father’s restaurant, serving witches and wizards who couldn’t afford a good meal otherwise. She grew up in a world where early mornings meant traveling to Nobby Leach’ rallies with her mother, listening to speeches about the importance of acceptance.

Daisy never once knew what it meant to think of someone as less than. In fact, she grew up in a world where that kind of thinking just didn’t exist. When Hogwarts taught her otherwise, and she saw just what her parents were truly fighting against, the fire in her bones wouldn’t stop her. To this day, her parents are more than proud of her for what she’s done. They helped her with her letters; helped her write speeches that she would give to anyone who would listen in the halls of Hogwarts (sometimes to the disdain of Slughorn himself). They were the ones who helped her find Muggle family members who she could stay with while on her journey to discover what it was like to be a Muggle. While they fought, just like any other family, Daisy would always thank her parents for allowing her the freedom to find, and then be, herself.

OCCUPATION:

If activist could be considered an occupation, then Daisy would be first in line. Of course, at this point, she knows that she can’t just be an activist. The lectures help, as she takes donations, and occasionally she writes anonymous articles for the Dailey Prophet that they actually buy (Daisy tried putting her name on them, and they all were returned with a solid, red no stamp). Luckily, she has enough saved up from her time living with Muggles (due to a lucky circumstance, she became the manager of a big department store in London) to at least remain above water for the time being.

ROLE WITHIN THE ORDER/THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ORDER:

Right now, since Daisy just came back to the Order, she hopes to be apart the Dissendium Task Force. Marlene has worked wonders with the force, spreading hope where the world seemed bleak. Daisy hopes to be apart of Marlene’s world. If they can show people that the Order is doing good work, that surely would change people’s minds wouldn’t it?

And that’s where the other part of her brain fights back. She wants to be apart of the Order, needs to be if not just because her ideas line up with them so similarly. But the fighting terrifies her. Or, maybe it really angers her. While she wants to do whatever it takes to beat the Death Eaters, Daisy also didn’t realize how the need to fight had gone so far. There’s nothing else they can do, and she recognizes that, but at the same time she wishes someone had been there to calm the storm before it had even started.

SURVIVAL:

Afraid of putting her parents in anymore danger then they already put themselves in, Daisy no longer lives at home. She found the smallest flat she possibly could, threw her things inside, and spends most of her time at the McKinnon Farm. She finds herself most helpful there, and believes the most in what Marlene is doing. They’re actually helping people, instead of hurting them, and it most closely resembles her own point of view. While she still is able to fight for people publicly, Daisy doesn’t know how she’ll survive once she can’t. For now, she’s been trying her best to keep her mental health in as best of a place as she can, in case the world as she knows it comes tumbling down.

RELATIONSHIPS:

- amelia bones: Daisy could write a novel about Amelia Bones. She’s her best friend, the one person on the planet who she believes understands her. While they weren’t in as frequent of communication during her journey, Amelia was the one person she still sent owls to about her experiences. There are times where she’s not entirely sure if Amelia knows how much she cares. However, she hopes that their friendship is strong enough for Amelia to see that she thinks of her as family.

- edgar bones: Edgar is the other half to Amelia’s whole, but one that she feels completely guilty about facing. She hasn’t spoken to him since she’s left. For some reason, the letters only came to Amelia, and she told herself it would be easier if only one of them knew where she truly was hiding out. Now, coming back into the Order, she hopes that Edgar doesn’t hate her for ignoring him for months. She hopes that she hasn’t lost anyone she truly cares about in the midst of a war.

- yaxley branwen: God, does she wish she had the power to kick Yaxley out of the Order. To Daisy, adding Yaxley to their ranks is like hiring a Death Eater who swears they’re not one. There’s not much she can do, of course. The Longbottoms and Potter would never listen to her fears. But she doesn’t trust Branwen, not one bit, and thinks her motives for being here are all completely wrong.

- sirius black: Daisy admires Sirius like none other. People overlook his smarts, but she’s always seen them. From the time they were in school, she saw his passion, and saw how he often used it for good. Unlike James, who never truly had to make a choice in the war, who Daisy believed was forced into the situation, Sirius stood up against his whole family. There’s nothing more brave, in her opinion, and Daisy has always held the eldest Black son in high esteem.

- dorcas meadowes: She always has appreciated passion, but Dorcas takes passion too far. The disaster that she and her friends cause scares Daisy and not because it might expose the Order. In fact, she’s not opposed to that idea. What she is afraid of, is the world seeing the Order for what havoc Dorcas causes, rather than what good it does. Daisy doesn’t know how to get through to the younger woman, but she will try, even if Dorcas’ misunderstanding of the situation annoys her to absolutely no end.

- james potter: Daisy doesn’t hate James Potter. No, that’s much too strong of a word for it. But, there’s definitely a bit of animosity bubbling in her veins. She can’t discern exactly why. Maybe it’s because he barely acknowledges his privilege, or can’t seem to recognize that he might not be the right person for a job. She appreciates what he’s doing, but she oftentimes thinks he might give up the role to someone like Lily, who actually understands the gravity of the situation.

OOC EXPLORATION:

SHIPS/ANTI-SHIPS:

I really don’t have any ships for Daisy at this moment, and I always ship my characters with chemistry. If something were to happen, that would be great, especially because I think it would be something incredibly new for Daisy. She’s never been in a relationship, although she’s had small crushes (and one very large one that happened during her time with her Muggle family). However, I would never force anything and would love to just see how, if she does form a deep emotional connection with someone, a relationship would play out for Daisy while she’s in the middle of a war.

WHAT PRIVILEGES AND BIASES DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE?

I touched on this a bit while talking about her sexuality, but I think the biggest privilege Daisy has (one that she sometimes feels ashamed about), is that she has a steady ground. While she is a half-blood, Daisy has been able to live her life in a bubble. She’s been able to speak up against the horrors of the world because no one really thinks twice about a small girl with a loud voice who comes from a good family. She knows that she has privilege here. She knows she has a family who has already been deeply entrenched in politics and she very well knows that her parents aren’t muggleborn (although they do have Muggles in the family). There are times when she forgets this privilege, and goes too far on the behalf of those who maybe don’t want her to step over the line. Of course, she struggles with this privilege every day and hopes that one day she can check it. Until then, she’ll keep fighting. For her, it’s better to remain loud and help even in the slightest of ways than to stay quiet.

Daisy also hates war. She hates it with a burning, loathing passion. She believes that it’s necessary, at this point, but she genuinely will never be able to see why words weren’t enough. Why can’t you change people’s minds by speaking? Why will they only listen through force? These are questions that Daisy has never quite been able to understand. Frankly, she doesn’t know if she ever will completely understand the point of fighting. But, she will fight, even if she doesn’t like it. And this bias will likely lead to her getting angry about the choices her fellow Order members are making.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO?

Well, I loved being here the first time with Lucinda, and coming back I wanted a fresh start. Daisy seemed like a very opposite character and one who I loved from the time y’all dropped the bio. I really think this role-play is not only inclusive, it’s just so incredibly fun. From the writers, to the plot-drops, to all the fun dice rolls, I really, truly miss it. Also, there’s so much freedom to explore your character and work with other players to form relationships. It’s just a great one, truly.

PLOT DROP IDEAS (OPTIONAL):

Maybe I’m evil, but eventually, I’d love to see what would happen if her mother or father were hurt in some kind of battle. We could definitely talk about that more later, but since her mother was on Nobby Leach’s campaign team, she would probably be at any of his rallies! So, if anything happened to him, something might have happened to her as well.

originally hailing from santa clara, california, the myung family was nothing short of a series of tech success stories. her father a machine learning engineer and her mother a user experience architect, it was to no surprise when olivia's older siblings (a sister 6 years older and a brother 4 years older) followed suit and found themselves pursuing similar careers. they were coded to be a stereotypical silicon valley family, so growing up, expectations were high for olivia, the last of the bunch.

olivia was that girl in school who knew she was smart and made sure everyone around her knew it as well. in high school, a lot of people didn’t really like her because they perceived her as a show-off, which she totally was, but she’s aight once you get past her insecurity-generated superiority complex. her parents were overprotective and pressured her to do better than her classmates, so she just grew up conditioned to be super competitive because she was kind of scared of her parents and therefore scared of failing them.

she majored in statistics at uc berkeley and ended up finishing in three years with plans to go into data analysis (she’s really good with numbers and doesn’t quite understand how people have trouble with math… Nerd).

a few months out of college she got offered a position with a startup company in seattle that she had interned for remotely in the past, so she made the trip to washington!

however, the company later began to experience major losses and had to let go of employees, which unfortunately included cleo, before dissolving completely. she had only been working there for about half a year.

olivia wasn’t ready to return home, wasn’t ready to break the news to her parents that she — in her mind — had failed, so she remained in seattle and kept up this lie of being a successful data analyst for a rising company, when in reality, she put all of her marbles in the wrong bag. she didn’t want to be the one to fail when everyone else in her family was succeeding, she didn’t want to be the disappointment, so she lied. she wasn’t that close with her family, so the vague information that their daughter was making Big Moves would suffice for them to sprinkle into conversations with their colleagues.

currently, she’s trying to get back on her feet and secure a stable position of a similar caliber, but in the meantime, she’s been back and forth between different jobs and also getting paid to tutor people (mostly over skype, sometimes irl). not being certain of what she’s doing terrifies her and Sucks because she’s not used to the feeling of not being good enough.

olivia is like... accidentally blunt a lot ?? not even gonna lie, she really does not think before she speaks sometimes (book smart but not street smart Big Time)

i don't think she ever really had a Solid friend group growing up; she was the type to be on the border and never really belong to any specific set of people

she has, like, Zero patience and a low tolerance for stupidity, so how she manages to tutor people is something many people cannot comprehend

olivia's like the gordon ramsay of academia: rude if u act like u know everything, kinder and understanding if u genuinely want to learn something or get better

her demeanor is so deceiving i would say ?? she's the opposite of someone who looks intimidating but is actually really sweet — she's like a siren or some shit, seemingly approachable but once u do approach, u regret

despite the fact that she's quite cold 90% of first encounters, over time, she does warm up to people, which bring the coldness probability to about a 50% depending on how she feels about u

she’s not heartless i promise !! it’s mostly a front bc she was Played a lot growing up and has some trust issues :// when ur smart n want friends sometimes it’s ok to be used right ?? haha ?? :(( ??

her way of caring for people is .. tbh .. kinda awkward ?? she has compassion but she doesn’t really know how to express it without feeling kinda weird about it KSDLHDS she’s the type that wouldn’t be comforting emotionally but she tries .. her Best in her own way

♡ daughter of edith byun and christopher jeong, two major players in broadway (and later on the film industry), she was practically famous in the industry before she was even born. it was without a doubt that she was anticipated to be nothing short of talented and successful once she popped out of the womb! imagine legendary dance couple keone and mari madrid’s child but if they both had a reputation akin to idina menzel or lea salonga. that’s basically lia.

♡ with this, her parents unfortunately succumbed to public pressure and wanted to ensure that their daughter would meet these expectations. to fall short would be the greatest misfortune on her reputation, and they simply would not have that. was it the healthiest mindset to have raising their first and only child? lmao no, but it’s the mindset that came with the fame they had. eyes would be on her the moment she came into the world, so she had to be everything the public wanted her to be.

♡ a few months before lia was scheduled to be born, her father was cast in the us tour of miss saigon (pretend there was one in 1998), and it overlapped with the due date! he was supposed to be performing at the pantages for a few weeks in that general timeframe of when her mom could be going into labor, so they took a risk and just… moved to los angeles because he wasn’t going to miss the birth of his child! so ever since she was born she resided in the hollywood area!

♡ she was homeschooled for a majority of her childhood, but ur a Big Fool if u thought it was by her parents! they were incredibly busy with their own careers so she had a nanny and a homeschool teacher! and to be Quite Honest her nanny was more of a mother to her than miss edith could ever be! to lia, her parents were more like a dream, a fantasy, some sort of ethereal beings — untouchable. [cue parental longing]

♡ despite how much the media loved to talk about amelia and her parents, she didn't actually get to see them all that often! they loved her, there's no doubt about it, but they didn't exactly know to express it... despite being acclaimed performers SGKSDJGHDS so! basically in lia's mind, succeeding meant getting love from her parents because they always seemed to pay the most attention to her when she was doing something impressive — they loved to show her off to their colleagues like some sort of dog who can do tricks. lia ate up this "love", though, because there's nothing that beats the glimmer in their eyes when they watch her perform.

♡ lia took private lessons for everything ranging from acting, voice, and dance! fun fact: she’s classically trained in several dance styles, such as contemporary, jazz, ballet, tap, and hip hop! she was basically set to follow her parents’ footsteps with all of this training. she played several child/teen roles in musicals thanks to her family, and it was an almost effortless kickstart to her career.

♡ when she was high school aged, lia was admitted into la county school of the arts, but she wasn’t there for long. despite growing up being taught how to handle lingering paparazzi and answer questions interviewers sent her way, she was never quite taught how to handle the Hell that is high school. she wasn’t accepted well into the social climate and was frequently bullied and judged. they didn’t believe that she worked to be there, she was only there because of her parents. they didn’t actually know anything about her, but they made these assumptions that eventually led to her pulling out of school. she had been excited to finally see what it’d be like to make friends of her own — friends that weren’t just fed to her because of who her parents were. she didn’t know that same fact would make it all the more difficult.

* ╱ 𝑪𝑨𝑹𝑬𝑬𝑹

♡ she's a theatre kid through and through, and that's all i have to say about that! lia grew up adoring the theatre, not only watching the shows her parents were casted in but almost every single one she could become an audience to! it was to no surprise when the public found her in minor and supporting roles as a child, and it was pretty much expected for her to become one of the next big names in broadway — she was anticipated to make the Big Move to new york once she got her footing in the industry!

♡ as time progressed, she continued to pursue theatre, slowly taking on more mature roles. every now and then she would be given television/film offers, but it was more of a side gig at the time. theatre was truly what she was passionate about. even though it was a profession forced on her, it was no lie that she actually enjoyed it.

♡ she began to develop her own fame outside of her parents around the time she was seventeen/eighteen, with a supporting role in an independent film that garnered pretty notable success. around this time, her parents invested in a publicist/agent just for her, a relative of edith who was also involved in the industry. it's true when they say it's bad to mix personal affairs with business because things began to take a bit of a turn for miss lia!

♡ her pr team was really big on transforming her the Big Name everyone expected her to be, all the while creating an identity completely separate from her family where she can thrive. and that’s exactly what they did. they created an identity.

♡ she had a love/hate relationship with being associated with her parents. on one hand, it was a burden having to constantly live with the expectation of being just as successful as them, but on the other, it fueled her fantasies of being the dream family she had always wanted them to be.

♡ they stressed the importance of whom she associated with, they slowly transitioned her out of theatre and immersed her completely into the film industry, lining her up for roles that would eventually become quite memorable. they took who lia was and restructured her as they saw fit, and lia went along with all of this because they constantly reassured her that this was what was best for her career. she didn't want to go against family, for to ruin any connections with her parents would be a step closer to losing them completely, so she played along in this role made just for her.

♡ her brain eventually became fine tuned to see relationships as “how can this benefit me?” rather than actual companionship which Sucks bc she totally wants friendship — she’s always craved it — but in the back of her mind there’s always this lil checkbox where she has to get something from this which is Not Healthy but she doesn’t know what to do about it because she’s in too deep to change anything

♡ she’s become so detached from her individuality and become the rising starlet her team shaped her into. she hasn’t been in a musical production in a long time, so it’s as if they ripped a major part of her identity away from her. but i guess that was the plan all along. i don’t wanna say that her mom's cousin has some lingering resentment toward her due something along the lines of always living in her shadow… but her mom's cousin has some lingering resentment toward her mom. it’s just cleverly disguised because lia is technically thriving when you look at it from the outside. inside, she yearns for her past.

♡ in the past few years, she’s been conditioned to want the world. she thinks she is owed it, but this sentiment is also fueled by her longing. she has this hunger for success that’s highkey kinda unhealthy! she isn’t even capable of discussing these things with her parents because they’re all busy all the time! her team would tell her to say yes to projects, pr stuff including false articles later debunked just for the publicity, whatever works! she’s been forced into this addiction for attention but it’s pretty much a result of her channeling the negative energy toward her career… to help her career? but in a way that’s detrimental to her own health. her sleep schedule? fucked up! she’s ruining herself from the inside out and she doesn’t want to admit it!

♡ her sentiment toward her public identity is akin to lottie person of the snotgirl comic! who she is interpreted as on social media isn’t the whole truth. she posts as if she’s under careful watch because, well, she is. anything her team didn't like simply didn't cut it and was deleted almost immediately followed by a sharp scolding. "image is everything" is one of the many sentences ingrained into her mind. an effortless kind of everyday, that's what she was supposed to be. idk how to explain it well but u know those instagrams where it looks super casual but is probably super planned? yes? idk in my head she has an instagram feed like hyulari or pameluft where it looks rly normal but it's rly pretty

♡ i'm trying to, like, put it into words what her persona is perceived as, but it's something along the lines of a person you think you know but you really don't. you see her posts, you see who she's with, where she's having coffee, but who is lia, really?

♡ clearly, this entire situation can get extremely overwhelming! the melatonin she takes to help control her sleeping habits also gifts her with the side effect of irritability, so there have been times when she “slipped up” and Snapped! her fans are quick to defend her, however, claiming she’s tired and needs rest, or place blame on the individuals who dare disrespect her privacy and personal space.

♡ scandals are also something she isn’t immune to. she frequents club and party settings often, and rumors often circulate about her activities, but it's easy to shift blame on bad influences. her image isn't exactly squeaky clean, but hey, as her team likes to say, "total prudes don't get attention"

♡ people who work with lia either love her or hate her, there's really no in between. she's friendly or stuck-up. some believe she's ungrateful, maybe they're onto something. she doesn't cause trouble on sets, but people love to make assumptions about this girl whose identity they can't seem to crack. but they'll be damned if they don't see her come in every morning with a smile on her face.

♡ if it wasn't clear, she despises the identity she’s forced into! it feels like a role she has to play almost 24/7, and she’d easily give it all up if it didn’t mean losing everything good that came from it. she missed the girl she used to be, the girl anyone could easily approach to talk about their day. she doesn’t know amelia anymore. she hasn’t been amelia for a long time, only lia.

♡ she learned recently that the contract with her team is set for a renewal soon, which prompted a crisis within lia. to terminate the contract would mean freedom, but at what cost? spicy, stay tuned.

♡ for the sake of her sanity, i'm gonna say that she still holds on to her personality in fear of becoming too absorbed by her public, consumable image, but there are times when she confuses the two. she can slip up and say something a bit too blunt in an interview or find herself holding back with her close friends. she's essentially become a blend of her true nature and her public image where it's almost the same thing

♡ incredibly, incredibly insecure! lia does not have a hold on her own identity, so even the smallest things will make her question everything! she constantly wonders if there’s a party happening that she’s not invited to, if people like her, if people are gossiping about her. so many aspects of her current identity have been conditioned to be close enough to genuine that she actually doesn’t know what’s real anymore.

♡ she can be a little bit manipulative if it comes down to her career. she doesn’t really mean it but she can’t help it at this point!

♡ if she’s friends with someone, even if it’s for some symbiosis-type relationship, she will play into that role, she will act as if it’s real. even if she doesn’t believe it, she wants to believe it because she also is unsure if she’s capable of real feelings??! she thinks she’s devoid of emotion but she just … doesn’t think about it. like, she doesn’t want to admit to herself that she cares about people bc she knows the Ugly side of her brain will hyper-analyze the relationship and find ways to sabotage it for herself to the point where she can’t enjoy it anymore — so i guess it's safest for her to think that this really isn't her! coping mechanisms let's roll out!

♡ she’s definitely had her fair share of significant others in the past, but they’ve been mixed into a bag of a bunch of pr relationships (she's had so many) so she doesn’t know if she’s capable of actually loving someone. it! all! seems! fake! but she definitely craves affection and will try to find it wherever she can.

Do your every deed as unto the Lord

I want to encourage you brethren today, that nomatter the time season or environment we are in, God is always watching what we do.

He will not forget our labour of love.

He records every single deed we do in this life.

We may not get the rewards for these deeds immediately or in this life, but weather in this life or in the after life, God will reward us for such.

The world seems to reward those who do evil, and those who do good seem to suffer more with each good deed.

Many believers get frustrated especially during this dark hour because the more they follow the law and do their things in a godly and non-corrupt manner, the more they suffer for it while the corrupt and lawless seem to move from prosperity to prosperity.

A man with proper business documents and all required papers will take days to move his goods through customs, while the corrupt will effortlessly just glide through customs.

How frustrating!

Do not be deceived, God can never be mocked, you will reap what you sow.

If you sow in the flesh (natural evil things) you will harvest corruption/decay/rottenness and damnation.

But if you sow in the spirit (good and godly things) you will harvest ertenal life (unending spiritual rewards in the presence of God)

God will always remember your good deeds and will reward you for them in the most wonderful way at the most appropriate time.

Look at this:

✔️ Jesus is coming and He is coming sooner than we may think.

Do not be fooled, every calculated date or year you may hear is a lie, no one knows the day except the Father.

That day will come when we least expect.

✔️God has no difficulty at all separating the good from the evil, so it's either you will be among the good or evil.

The sheep (righteous) on His right

The goats ( unrighteous) on His left.

✔️ God will reward the good with life (the fullness of life in His presence) and condemn the evil into damnation and punishment for what they did here in this life.

✔️ For the good deeds the righteous ones did, they will be rewarded with the kingdom.

✔️ Every good or bad thing you do according to God, you are doing it for Him.

✔️ There is no single deed you can do for anybody planned or randomly that is not a direct deed to the Lord.

✔️ There will be shock even for those who were doing good on how God records every single little deed and tells you as you did it for even the little one you did it for Him.

There are innumerable times when I get temptation to retaliate, to revenge or worse to withhold doing good to someone because it feels as if I have been doing it all my life and it has not paid me anything.

But I thank God that the Holy spirit reminds me that I'm not doing it for the person or to the person but directly to the Lord.

I'm preaching to you daily not only for you but I'm directly giving service to the Lord.

Listen to me saints of God and listen to me good!

When you visit those in prison or hospital according to scripture and specifically according to Jesus, you are visiting Him and He is taking note of it.

When you give clothes and food to the needy, you are giving directly to Jesus and He is seeing you.

When you withhold doing these to anyone for whatever reason you are directly withholding it from Jesus for that particular reason.

Lord have mercy 🙏

I preach to you daily during this dark hour and expect nothing in return from you apart from the growth and encouragement of your spirit, there are some who can preach the same things I do and get hundreds of thousands (God bless them)

I don't regret doing it for free and will do it again and again and forever because I know every single day I encourage you and build you up and feed you spiritual food I'm directly doing it to and for Jesus.

One day He will look me in the eye and tell me "Son, I was in a lockdown with no access to a church service or sermon and you preached to me 5 days a week"

I will be shocked and amazed because it will be more real than anything I'm imagining now.

Every single deed you and I are doing is always directly to and for the Lord.

Be encouraged to do more for Jesus.

she was born and raised in grand haven, michigan. her mom had her at 16 and idk where her dad went but uh, he wasn’t in the picture. her aunt was 27 when her mom had her, and she’d already been told she couldn’t have kids, so when belle was born it was kind of a blessing in disguise for her. the mom didn’t really want anything to do with the kid, she was a teenager at the time and was too wacked out over the fact that the baby-daddy vanished. so yeah, her aunt and uncle were basically her parents

never had a good relationship with her mom. also has a lot of half-siblings due to the fact that her mom just wouldn’t stop having kids lol

belle’s always been kind of, idk, perfect?? she was a good baby, quiet, barely ever cried, always sleeping; she was a good kid, remembered her abc’s and times tables in the first few weeks she learned them, never talked back to her tia; she was an exceptionally good teenager, didn’t drink or smoke like the other kids, kept straight a’s, did hella volunteer work, etc. you get the whole gist. she was just... good. she did everything she could to NOT become her mother, and so she worked hard and kept out of trouble

but then when she was 16, belle was raped. it happened after her sophomore homecoming football game; her friend wanted to go to a party to celebrate and belle didn’t want her to go alone so basically she only went to keep an eye on her. long story short, belle found herself locked in a room with a drunk guy and that’s when he took advantage of her. she ended up pregnant afterwards and got an abortion. at first, she was going to keep it because she was raised by a very religious family, that’s partially the reason why she has so many damn half-siblings, but her aunt supported her decision to get the abortion

despite what’d happened to her, belle continued to try and see the best out of her life. she used it as her motivation to get stronger, to get out of grand haven and make a better life for herself. she graduated high school as valedictorian and then ended up going to the university of michigan

she entered college as a human biology major. she wanted to get her phd in gynaecology and eventually join the msf, aka, doctors without borders

life seemed to be going well for her. she fell in love, got into med school, and she just felt like everything was on track

but you know, something bad always has to happen when she thinks everything’s good and dun dun dun she gets turned into a vampire!! she, tommy(da bf at the time), and his sister were ambushed by vampires. while tommy survived, she and his sister were turned. they decided to stay away from him and let him believe they were dead because one, belle couldn’t control her bloodlust for shit and she didn’t want to end up killing him or sumthin, and two, she was ashamed of what she was. she thought he’d see her as a monster. to this day, belle still hasn’t really come to terms with the fact that she’s a vampire

belle and tommy’s sister have basically been moving from town to town, living in a place until blah blah something goes wrong and they have to move again. the last time they had to move from somewhere was because belle almost killed someone, yay. they’ve been in faulk hollow for about 2 weeks now and she isn’t really aware that there are other things besides vampires out there??? like “ghosts??? ghosts aren’t real”

he was born into a family of farmers in early 14th century russia. he was the eldest out of six children and his parents were simple, kind people. they struggled to make a living out of their harsh environment but always remained optimistic

Steelers LB Ryan Shazier retires from NFL

Shazier has made incredible progress after a terrifying spinal injury he suffered in December 2017 against the Bengals.

Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier suffered a spinal injury in December 2017 and has been making slow progress in a quest that stretches far beyond the gridiron.

Shazier has made numerous public appearances since his injury; arguably his most powerful came during the 2018 NFL Draft, when he walked onto the stage with some help from his then-fiancee, Michelle. Shazier did not play in 2018 or 2019 and has now officially retired from the NFL.

Shazier’s contract was set to expire after the 2018 season, but because he was sidelined the entire year the Steelers have the option to toll his contract over another year. The team announced it planned to do exactly that — ensuring Shazier can continue to get paid by the league, accrue years toward a pension, and receive NFL medical insurance.

The Steelers also announced that Shazier will eventually be placed on the PUP list and won’t play for the team in 2019.

“We will continue to support Ryan’s efforts to return to play,” said General Manager Kevin Colbert. “Although he won’t be able to help us on the field in 2019, his leadership, insight, and emotional support have always been very valuable to us, and we look forward to his contributions in our pursuit of a championship.”

Following the Steelers’ 2018 season, Art Rooney II gave an update about Shazier’s status with the team. Shazier is set to be a free agent in March.

“Ryan, I believe, still intends to continue to rehab with the intention of trying to come back and play, and so to the extent that he wants to do that, we’re open to working that out,” Rooney said. “There are some technicalities about somebody going from staff to player. So, at this point as I said, I think his goal is to continue to be a player, and so we’ll have to address it as time goes on and figure out how that works. He would have to have a contract.”

One possibility is that the Steelers sign him to a one-year contract at the league minimum.

Days earlier, Steelers linebackers coach Joey Porter told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Shazier had just jogged for the first time since the injury. According to the article, doctors had given Shazier “less than a 20 percent chance” of walking again.

Shazier returned to Cincinnati, where the Steelers and Bengals were playing for the first time since his injury. Before the game, Shazier paid a visit to University of Cincinnati Medical Center to thank them for taking care of him last December:

The Steelers made their first Monday Night Football appearance since Shazier’s injury in a Week 3 matchup against the Buccaneers. Lisa Salters spoke to Shazier before the game.

“He’s feeling really good,” Salters said, “He said he’s taking things a day at a time. He wants to play football.”

Salters also talked to Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, who told her, “We just want to be there as a team to support him in whatever decision he decides to make for himself in the future.”

Shazier spoke at a press conference — his first time speaking to media after his December injury.

“My dream is to come back and play football again,” Shazier said. “I’ve been working my tail off every day and I have that in the back of my mind every day I go to rehab.”

Shazier said he’s been surprising doctors with his progress throughout the rehab process. His goal for now is to be able to walk by himself without the support of a cane.

He also said that he’s not afraid of suffering another injury if he eventually returns to the field, but added that “he’ll have to play safer and keep his head up.”

During the NFL Combine, Shazier hopped on the phone with NFL Network’s Mike Mayock and Rich Eisen.

“My end goal is to allow the Lord to let me come back and play at the high level that I was before,” Shazier said. “Every day I try to get better. I strive for the Hall of Fame and I was doing that through this year, the whole time I was playing. And I still do that while I’m doing rehab. I know it’s still a possibility. I have the Lord and he has my back and I constantly feel I’m going to come back and play football.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared on Super Bowl Sunday that Shazier hasn’t just regained feeling in his legs, but he’s also regained movement and is “engaging in a regular walking routine.” But Michele Tafoya reported that Shazier wasn’t walking on his own, which Shazier then confirmed himself.

Shazier posted the most encouraging sign of his recovery to that date with a picture that appeared to show him standing — albeit with support from teammate Ben Roethlisberger.

I’ve had a lot of 1st downs at UPMC, but you know being the defensive guy I am, my mind is on 3 and out. That same day, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center released a statement saying that Shazier was discharged from inpatient rehab and will transition into an outpatient program to continue his recovery.

I was finally able to make it to practice with my teammates. It’s great to be back for practices and meetings. Just to be able to feel a part of it means the world. So I’m working harder than I ever have to get back. Ive been making strides over the past month and continue to make progress. Taking it day-by-day, but I’m far from done. He visited his teammates at practice for the first time before the Steelers’ divisional matchup against the Jaguars, bringing an emotional lift as the team prepared for the postseason. Cameron Heyward told NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala that Shazier said he has good days and bad days. But the days he’s able to spend around his teammates are always good days.

“I really have no update in terms of his medical status other than what was released earlier,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters. “I would imagine at the appropriate time that those who are responsible for his care will give you a reasonable assessment of where he is. I imagine that would occur as soon as later on today.”

“From my perspective, obviously it was a tough evening,” he said. “Ryan’s a trooper. I had an opportunity to spend some time with him, and he’s in good spirits.”

Shazier was injured during a Monday Night Football game against the Bengals in Week 13. On Cincinnati’s first possession of the game, Shazier went to the ground clutching his back after tackling Bengals wide receiver Josh Malone. It looked like a normal, everyday kind of tackle until Shazier didn’t get up.

Shazier was immobilized on a backboard, carted off the field, and taken to a Cincinnati hospital.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin did not have an update on Shazier’s status after the game.

“This is a tough game, tough business,” Tomlin said. “5-0 (Shazier) is our brother.”

What does Ryan Shazier mean to the Steelers?

Shazier has been the Steelers’ biggest defensive playmaker since they took him in the first round of the 2014 draft.

He means so much more to the Steelers than that, as was seen in the way his teammates reacted immediately after his injury. They had a hard time holding back tears in the immediate aftermath and for the rest of the game.

“I don’t think Vince (Williams) stopped crying until after halftime, and that’s one of the most gangster dudes on the team,” safety Mike Mitchell said, via The MMQB’s Greg Bishop. “People had to grab him by the face mask and be like, ‘Yo, you’re the middle linebacker now. You can’t be sniffling.’”

The Steelers went on to win that game, beating the Bengals 23-20. They won four of their last five, locking up the second seed in the AFC before falling to the Jaguars in the Divisional Round.

He wasn’t on the field, but they didn’t do it without Shazier.

“When you see him, you know how much he loves football and wants to be out there for us,” linebacker Anthony Chickillo said, through the team’s website. “You just want to go hard for him. You just want to win for him.”

What’s Shazier’s prognosis?

Shazier started rehab days after undergoing surgery. He’s still very much a part of the Steelers, even if he never takes the field again.

Shazier and his family believe that he will play again.

“Yes, I do,” Vernon Shazier said. “I Shalieve.” Shazier and his family consistently use that play on Shazier’s last name and the word “believe“ when talking about his injury.

The injury was terrifying, and it’s difficult to even think about whether Shazier can or will play football in the future. What matters now is just Shazier’s continued recovery.

This week at Bungie, the Drifter is preparing for a turn to lead the next season.

We’re nearing the end of Season of the Forge. Guardians have plundered the Black Armory of its secrets and weapons. Shaxx hosted Crimson Days and Lord Saladin is watching over the final Iron Banner of the season. Before the Drifter takes center stage, we’ll be hosting a Raid-Along livestream featuring Scourge of the Past. To get Gambit primed for the Season of the Drifter, we have been working on some Quality of Life improvements We’re changing the way this little game is played, based on our own experience as players and a lot of feedback that we’ve collected since Forsaken launched. Today, Senior Designer Robbie Stevens is speaking on behalf of the team to take us through the changes you can expect on March 5.

Robbie: As we build on the Gambit theme in Season of the Drifter, we want to make sure to address some of the top feedback items for the base activity. Below is a sneak-peak of changes we’ve made based on the community’s feedback. Expect more details and additional quality-of-life changes for Gambit when Season of the Drifter drops on March 5.

Changed the third round of Gambit to a Primeval rush sudden death. This will speed up Gambit matches overall and add a change of pace to the final round.

Overhauled how we choose the invader spawn location and increased the number of invader spawn points for each map. This should greatly reduce the chances of spawning very near or in direct line of sight of an enemy Guardian.

Implemented Idle Protection which means that players that remain dormant for too long will not receive end-of-match rewards or Infamy points.

The Triumph “Light vs. Light” can now be progressed by killing any Guardian using a Super, not just invaders. This makes attaining the Dredgen title a less daunting task.

Adjustments to Blocker types by deposit tier:

Small Blocker = Taken Goblin with less health than the previous Phalanx.

Medium Blocker = Taken Captain with more health than the previous Knight.

Large Blocker = Taken Knight with more health than the previous Ogre.

These changes arrive with the Season of the Drifter. To get you ready for the change in seasons, we’re enabling Triple Infamy for the final week of Season of the Forge.

Back to the Sandbox

Alongside the Gambit quality-of-life changes, our Sandbox Team will be fine-tuning some weapon archetypes to refresh the gameplay experience in Destiny 2. The following is a quick preview of some changes coming with Destiny Update 2.2.0, with developer commentary from Sandbox Designer Victor Anderson:

Linear Fusion Rifles

These Energy weapons have dominated Gambit for quite some time. First came Sleeper Simulant. Then came the Queenbreaker. We’ve made them less forgiving so we can enjoy a change of pace.

Linear Fusion Rifle aim-assist values will receive an adjustment to reduce effectiveness at very long ranges.

While Queenbreaker has high aim-assist values by default, we discovered an issue where it was not honoring aim-assist values that applied to other Linear Fusion Rifles of the same archetype. This resulted in Queenbreaker having over double the intended aim assist.

Linear Fusion Rifles will receive a 10% damage increase in PvE to compensate for the above changes.

Shotguns

In Season of the Drifter, we’re making a few changes to rapid-fire Shotguns, and the Full Auto perk. We're doing this for a few reasons, one of them being that the Full Auto perk feels far too important to Shotguns in PvE. This perk effectively doubles the damage output of any given Shotgun due to the rate of fire increase.

While we believe it is important to have useful perks on your weapons, the efficacy of this was so impactful that rapid-fire Shotguns became the only Shotguns worth considering for PvE. When the following changes release in Season of the Drifter, we hope you might be inspired to equip an aggressive Shotgun or maybe even take a slug Shotgun for a spin in a PvE activity.

Shotguns will receive a damage multiplier in PvE activities, effectively doubling their damage.

The Legend of Acrius is an exception to this.

Full Auto rate-of-fire bonus for Shotguns is now +10%, down from +100%.

In addition, it no longer increases the Shotgun pellet spread.

Default rate-of-fire values for have also shifted:

Aggressives are 55 RPM, up from 45 RPM

Precisions are 70 RPM, up from 55 RPM

Lightweights are 80 RPM (they were erroneously stated to be 90 RPM previously)

Rapid-Fire 140 RPM, down from 200 RPM (they were previously natively 100 RPM, but due to the intrinsic full auto, actually had 200 RPM)

Also reduced base damage for Shotguns across the board to align with their new rates of fire on a per sub-archetype basis.

Ammo reserves for Shotguns were re-evaluated due to the increased efficiency of having more damage per shot.

We also took the opportunity to slightly adjust Shotguns for the Crucible. While Shotguns will remain effective in the Crucible, we have toned down the range at which Shotguns could secure a one-shot kill.

Additionally, the team has some information regarding balance changes for the One-Eyed Mask Exotic, which will release with Update 2.2.0:

One-Eyed Mask

In various combat situations, One-Eyed Mask has been too effective, and has become a non-choice Exotic for Titans in PvP environments. After implementing the following changes, we believe the Exotic will still be potent if used well, but there will be more opportunities to counter it.

The duration of the Mark of Vengeance has been reduced from 15 seconds to 8 seconds

The way players refill health after a successful kill has changed. Before, it restored all of your health and the overshield refilled over time. Now, the health refills over time alongside the overshield. This should give a leg up when encountering situations where multiple people are fighting one person with the One-Eyed Mask equipped.

Vengeance will no longer trigger for players in Super. This was making Supers far too potent.

A new season means a new reality in combat. Keep up the chatter, and we’ll keep curating the Sandbox so that Destiny adapts to the way you play!

Destiny 2 Update 2.2.0 Resolved Issues Preview – Part 2

Following the conversation from last week, here’s the second batch of player-impacting issues that we expect to be resolved with Update 2.2.0 in early March.

“Mint Condition” Triumph: The “Mint Condition” Triumph is not unlocking.

“Forged in Fire” Triumph: The “Forged in Fire” Triumph is not unlocking.

“Master Smith” Triumph: The “Master Smith” Triumph is not updating for Rare research frame completions.

“Calculated Trajectory” Triumph: The “Calculated Trajectory” Triumph and medal do not trigger in Iron Banner.

“The Eternal Return” Emblem: The emblem “The Eternal Return” is not updating each time players conquer Dûl Incaru in the Dreaming City.

“Senior Recruiter” Emblem: The emblem “Senior Recruiter” is not updating for Refer-a-Friend referral completions.

“Black Armory Devotee” Bounty: The “Black Armory Devotee” bounty does not progress when using non-frame Black Armory weapons.

Relics of the Golden Age

Also resolved in Update 2.2.0 is an issue that has caused confusion regarding the “Relics of the Golden Age” quest for Sturm. Currently, one of the steps in this quest directs players to “decrypt” five Legendary engrams and one Exotic engram. In Update 2.2.0, this quest description will update to direct players to “pick up” these engrams, which aligns with Year 2 world-drop engram behavior.

To set the correct expectations, here are special cases that players should be aware of when completing this step:

Prime Engrams do not count toward this quest step.

Vendor rank-up rewards and Cryparch-purchased engrams do not count toward this quest step.

Fated Engrams and direct-purchase Exotics from Xûr do not count toward this quest step.

Engrams left in activities that recover to postmaster do not count toward this quest step.

Year 1-style Legendary and Exotic engrams that slot into players’ inventories and require manual decryption do not count toward this step. These are very rare, but are still available from some sources.

INTRODUCTION:

Assumption is a deadly trap every child of God should avoid.

It is dangerous to go without Jesus for even a minute. Our work with God as His children most be deliberate, it is a conscious dedication on a daily basis. I always say that Christianity is not a tag we put on our neck but a life we live. Jesus said in "Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me". The place of assumption is very dangerous for every child of God. The Bible says if we think we are standing, we should take heed lest we fall.

Are you living a life of assumption? Is about time we begin to examine our lives because it will be very terrible after spending all your life doing the work of ministry, or living a life thinking that you are a Christian and you get to Him on that day and He says depart from me, you worker of iniquity. Notice it is not that you were not working, but it is a work of iniquity.

What is Iniquity?

Injustice; unrighteousness; a deviation from rectitude.

Most of the time in our work with God, we so much concentrate on the work and neglect the owner of the work.

We no longer fast, pray, then wait on Him as we use to. Our focus have move from that of soul winning to that of building a very big cathedral so that we can make a name for ourselves. We no longer consult God, but men. Our zeal for the Lord has depreciated. Our best friends are ungodly people and we are very much careless about everything. We have neglected our first love. Jesus said we should remember were we have falling from and make amends

Many are coming to Church today thinking that they are Christian but it is all base on assumption. It is not by coming to church that makes you a Christian, but by being in Jesus. How is your personal relationship with Jesus. Please don't come to church and and go to hell examine your life today and know were you have falling from and begin to retrace your steps back to the Cross.

For many the glory of God has departed, they are just living in their past glory and they are less concern about it. It is like the scripture said of Samson, He did not know that the Spirit of God has departed, he thought he could do as of another day. Oh how immorality has become the order of the day in Churches, there is no fear of God amongst the children of God. The ones to lead people to God are rather driven them away by their selfishness, And they suppose God will understand. God remain God even if millions of people gather to do the wrong thing, it can not be right before Him.

In Luke 2:41-45, Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

In the scripture above Jesus was missing from His earthly parent and they did not know it until they have gone a day's journey. If it happen to Mary and Joseph, it might as well happens to you. How many children of God has gone a day, a week, a Month or may be even a Years journey without the Master and they think that He is still with them not knowing that he has long gone. The other problem is that they were thinking that He is in the company. Are you such a Christian that is just satisfied that the presence of God is in their company, in their Church and not in their life in particular? Many Christian talk good about their Church, their Pastor, but they can boldly talk about their relationship with Jesus.

Know this for sure, Christianity is very personal. You are to work out your own salvation with fear and with trembling.

Christianity is not about tradition but Jesus and Him crucified, it is not about a religion but a way of life. Jesus said it is not about saying Lord, Lord, but by doing the will of the Father in heaven.

Are you doing the will of the father, did you consult Him before starting that project, did you enquire of Him before taking that Journey. We are no longer of ourselves but of the Lord. It becomes rebellion when we act without consulting Him.

As I conclude I want you to know that it will be a very COSTLY ASSUMPTION to think that you are a child of God, that God is with you and that Jesus is in your heart, only to get to the gate of heaven and realizes that your name is not in the book of life and that you never knew Him or you missed Him along the way. That time it will be too late and eternity will open up to you on the other side which is hell fire. So it will be good that we examine our lives on a daily basis. For if we think you stand, you should take heed lest you fall. Remain rapturable in Jesus mighty name.... Amen.....

History Today - March 2, 2019

This History Today series aims to document what life is like in this period of history. I update whenever I feel like it.

Aspects of daily life:

A good friend of my fiancée died yesterday. She was only 33 and left behind two teenage boys. I didn’t know her that well. But she had just been helping us a few weeks ago moving a new couch into our house. She was surly and quiet about her problems. She had health problems, but the way she acted, I wouldn’t have guessed. I think she believed in heaven.

I went for a ten mile walk today, even though it was raining. I enjoyed being alone in public.

Bernie Sanders had a rally today I think. Apparently he is going to run for the presidency again. My fiancée thinks he’s going to win this time. His campaign raised almost 6 million dollars in 24 hours last week, according to CNBC, with an average donation of $27. I wonder what the median donation was.

I visited Forever 21 — the store — for the first time in what feels like a few years. I finally understand the outfits I see on some of the instagrammers I follow. I thought they were digging up stuff from the 80s (or maybe 70s? I’m not up with the fashion decades), but stores actually sell this stuff. And it’s cool. Funny how fashion is cyclical.

Coming back from a trip in North Carolina, I met a woman named Catherine (I didn’t ask the spelling, so I’m just guessing). She had pure white straight hair to her shoulders, and she journaled. In fact, for a majority of the flight, she was writing in her journal, handwriting it. It was pages and pages. She was very friendly and told me about herself. She used to teach, but now she edits, freelance. Her daughter has a PhD in French and is a professor. I learned way more about her than I would’ve expected, but the interaction made me want to go back to handwriting. I type instead of handwriting now, because it makes editing easier. But there is a sort of magic in handwriting. It makes you closer to the words. It feels less like work, I think. Maybe that’s why I find it so hard to write nowadays.

Girl Scout cookies are still $5 a box.

Crop tops are back in fashion.

Trader Joe’s has bags of Orzo for $0.99. I think pasta in general is probably the best thing to eat for high calorie content on a small budget. Or big bags of rice.

I’m shopping online for clothes and shoes more than ever. It’s so much more convenient. Amazon is super helpful with this. Interestingly, I don’t always get the best prices on Amazon.

Amazon’s new HQ2 is not moving New York City. Sometimes I worry about Amazon becoming a monopoly or too powerful as corporation. I researched a bit about them, and they’re willing to accept “razor thin margins,” a phrase I saw a lot. I’m not sure they can actually become a monopoly in the online retail space, because the barrier to entry for new e-commerce stores is incredibly low. However, their Web Services infrastructure is huge. A few years ago in 2017, that infrastructure went down because of some employee accidentally taking too many servers down, and lots of huge companies websites didn’t work. The Internet shouldn’t be so easy to temporarily crumble. Internet infrastructure, like the railroads back in the early nineteenth century, is incredibly important to daily life currently, and anyone having a monopoly there is worrying.

Tesla always seems to be struggling to meet its demand for the electric car, but I’m super stoked to see self-driving cars become the norm. I think personal travel will become more accessible than ever. Automated Uber-like services will be the future in my opinion. Owning a car and only driving it twice a day or less is incredibly inefficient.

Remember, though, that while we allow constructive criticism, our focus is to have fun and appreciate the comic. Below you will find four questions to get you started on the discussion. QUESTION 1. What has been your favorite scene in the comic so far? What specifically did you like about it?

QUESTION 3. What has been your favorite moment between Sheol and Lilika? What about their relationship dynamic stood out to you? Ultimately, do you believe the two will wind up together romantically, or will the past keep them apart?

I really like the scene with both Sheol and Lilika's flashbacks happening simultaneously. Something like that could have been very confusing, but it was laid out really well with the chain going down the middle. http://www.patchworkandlace.com/?p=451

Lilika's probably my favorite of the two main characters. She's sort of like this adorable dark demon-summoning cultist Card Captor Sakura. Darray is pretty new, but he also cracks me up.

Lilika and Sheol's dynamic is interesting and falls a lot on hurt/comfort patterns. The kiss (http://www.patchworkandlace.com/?p=533) was satisfying, both as shipper kerosene and also because it was one of the few times that Sheol expressed something she wanted instead of just protecting Lilika or doing her duties. Even if it's not romantic, I hope there's more situations like that in Sheol's future where she discovers who she is and what she wants in (un)life, but I suspect that there's still going to be a lot of secrets she'll keep from Lilika before she really gets to a place of balance and peace. I suspect Lilika and Sheol will end up together, but only once Sheol is able to let go of the pain in her past and stop protecting Lilika from her secrets.

1) There are so many beautiful scenes, but my favourite one so far was this one ... I think the interaction/dynamic between the characters works really well/naturally and the ending made me chuckle. I enjoy humor like that

It definitely seemed like Lilika was special and advanced in magic for her age. I'm just curious all around about the organization (cult?) she grew up in and what their motives are. It definitely appears that whatever they originally wanted for Lilika, she's a free agent now who's doing pretty much whatever she wants, so I would assume she got too powerful for them to control and ran away. So if they don't even have anybody on her power level because she's over 9000, it makes sense that they want to get her back.

QUESTION 6. How exactly do you interpret Sheol’s past so far as it’s been shown? Who do you think her former master was? In the end, how do you think Sheol came to be on her own and will her former master come looking for her?

1) i really liked the most recent scene where sheol is talking about leaving lilika while you can hear lilika just teaching the kiddo in the bg. before i felt their relationship was just kind of set in stone (romantic or not) in terms of them staying together. but this scene...this scene added doubt. now theyre not just star crossed lovers, but actually have to work at the relationship, whatever their relationship is meant to become. and i really like when stories add a complicated aspect like that, because relationships are work whether theyre friendships or something else. 2) Lilika. I just like this dynamic of Lilika being cutesy but summoning the most horrific looking creatures. Yet, even if the creatures are weird looking, she shows them a lot of kindness in a way. I also like shes more of a hiding her cards type of character. While I like Sheol, her emotional issues are pretty in your face so you can basically see her deck of cards. Lilika though? I don't know how she might be hurt or traumatized and I like that a bit more. Adds more mystery to solve. 3) I liked the scene where Lilika is offering understanding and comfort to Sheol being out of sorts. Just...it was such a positive interaction and really showed the depth of Lilika's care for Sheol beyond just having a bunch of shirts handy. I like in general how the two of them are somewhat opposite in personalities and yet have this subtle way of getting along and showing their care. As for the ship, I'm gonna be optimistic and say yes. And assume they won't go up in flames.

that answer to 2 is really interesting, because in that respect they're both kinda opposite to the usual tropes that tend to apply (the stoic/stern type vs the bubbly, upbeat type)

you'd expect that Lilika would wear her emotions and background on her sleeve while Sheol would keep everything close to the chest, but it's the reverse, haha

Yeah, to get a bit meta about it, the webcomic title is a pretty obvious reference to the two main characters, so I think they gotta stay together.

4) The moment where Lilika asks if Sheol is good but Sheol was like, "no but ill manage." That was such a sad slap in the face but so true to trauma. Cause sadly life doesnt care if you are traumatized. Sometimes you have to go live life and just manage. And I liked seeing that in the story cause it made the trauma more relateable to me. As for healing? yes, but years and years and years and years from the current time. For now though, I think Sheol's trauma is actually gonna get in the way and stop her from helping Lilika when Lilika most needs her. Then drama and conflict ensues. 5) Probably this comic's version of cthulu. As for why specifically Lilika, like Delphina I assume magical talent. But I'm skeptical at the time cause if all it took was magical talent, they wouldnt need to chase her down. Just get a new student. So I feel there must be super special about Lilika's talent. Like she has some sort of connection even better students don't have. 6) I assume her master was some lord scientist who just felt like playing god. And that he was using Sheol to both prove his awesome and gather some sort of resource. Hence the whole targets thing. I personally think that Sheol just ran away cause she found some body part had murdered a shiz ton of people and could no longer live with herself of the selves she was made of. It sounded like he was alive, so I do think her former master is gonna come looking for her? Or someone close to him. I mean not everyday you hear about living flesh dolls, so someone is bound to be interested.

On the topic of Sheol's past, it looks like Zerymos assembled her. Nell and Lilika's cult seem to know of him from the recent pages, so I assume the dude is either a cult-adjacent individual practitioner or split off to do his own thing. From the flashbacks, Zerymos pretty much made Sheol go out and murder specific people on the regular. (From this scene http://www.patchworkandlace.com/?p=452 and the one that I can't find where the person recognized her mouth and wanted to "kiss their daughter" one last time - (Really wish this comic had an archive page...)) I first suspected Zerymos wanted corpses for more experiments, but in the first scene, she's not carrying the body back, so maybe he's a leader who just wanted to freak people out and flex his power over them? He certainly didn't seem to be worried about Sheol using discretion since she just walks into a crowded group of screaming people and chokes 'em. If she's been that overt and people have heard of her, then it definitely makes sense that she wants to cover up as many scars as she can, but I've also been curious why she's only covering the mouth because you can still see the stitchwork down the middle?

QUESTION 7. Do you believe that Nell will succeed and capture Lilika? If so, what will happen to Lilika? What will Sheol do? If not, how will Lilika and Sheol manage to avoid capture? How will it affect their future plans?

7) Nah. I honestly think Nell is going to vastly overestimate her skills and vastly underestimate Lilika. It's also 2 v 1 right now since her partner was sent off, so nell probably isnt gonna have a good time. Sheol, assuming she's present, will over course protect Lilika. Although this begs the question of how much of Lilika's past does Sheol know? I mean of course she knows of Lilika's demony magic stuff, but did Lilika mention anything else? cause if not, that's the point i feel Sheol is gonna go wtf and want answers. but yeah i think after all is said and done, theyre gonna skip town for a while together.

Well, it seems like Nell is going to be forced into seducing Lilika away for reasons I don't quite understand (http://www.patchworkandlace.com/?p=589). So I suspect it's not going to be a physical fight (which I agree, Lilika and Sheol have the advantage with, especially if Lilika is irreplaceably powerful and Sheol has no visible physical weaknesses) but a love-triangly-psychological sort of approach. Drive doubts in both of their heads about whether they really love/trust each other so they're easier to manipulate.

QUESTION 8. What exactly do you think happened with the Way of the Bright Waters that has Sheol so interested? Is it something Sheol herself was involved in, or something from one of her memories that isn’t hers? Will she actually learn information about it?

8) well we know there was a murder thing, but somehow the way sheol worded it makes me think she wasnt entirely responsible or something? which that to mean means two likely scenarios. either its the fault of one of her body parts or someone whose life force or whatever she stole and she feels she needs to take responsibility. or sheol might have like a detachment complex. kind of like how some media portrays assassins as guilt free cause they consider themselves like the sword or gun and it was the person who ordered them to kill's doing. so sheol might have some of that going on. not sure. what i am sure of is id hate to be in sheol's head cause if any of this is true it sounds like an identity hellscape

QUESTION 9. Do you think Sheol will indeed leave Lilika to pursue her own goals? Is she right that Lilika doesn’t actually need her, or do you believe Lilika has her own trauma regarding her past history that Sheol helps with?

No, or at least not until endgame.

It's a possibility that she will leave and be pursued.

Yeah, I think if they do get separated (either because Nell succeeds in finding away to get in Lilika's head or just flat out kidnap her), it won't be permanent because they'll want to be with each other. Lilika hasn't really given much indication that she's having trouble with stuff from her past IMO, but y'know, growing up in a cult has gotta do something to a person in general. I think they're both going to realize eventually that they're happiest together and do whatever they can to stick to each other and continue their life of adventuring together.

I think Sheol doesn't realize how much Lilika likes her. Like she considers herself to be a burden or something.

True, I think it's safe to say that the part of Sheol that thinks people like and accept her is severely underutilized.

She also may be worried about snapping and going out of control and hurting Lilika

i second. i def think sheol just has a large disconnect with how much lilika likes her. evend espite the kiss. almost like she thinks its all just some game to lilika and that eventually lilika will get bored. 9) the above being said, i think sheol is going to try at some point or another. i kind of get this impression sheol just thinks lilika is the this strong, carefree person who would be completely fine on her own and doesnt really even think too hard about all the times sheol has had to save her. and i think sheol needs to make the attempt to break this image. but will it be permanent? nah. i believe in them to realize theyre happier together. or be practical and realize safety in numbers. 10) im looking forward to learning more about lilika's magic and seeing what else the full scope of her capabilities are. like, what other creepy monstrosities can she summon. XD mostly just cause thats my favorite aspect right now.

I'm looking forward to learning more about Lilika's past and both of them growing as characters. It's hard to say what Lilika might be dealing with beyond conjecture, so I hope more is explained about why she's so cavalier if that's indeed a defense mechanism. Sheol is clearly dealing with a lot and I'd love to see her develop more healthy attitudes toward self-care and growing and healing from her pain. While I suspect a lot of that is going to involve Lilika's affection and that's okay, romantic relationships don't and can't heal everything, so I hope some of it is also just self-reflection.

Curvy Model Hunter McGrady Talks Body Image in Hollywood With Mayim Bialik

Mayim Bialik and Sports Illustrated plus-size model Hunter McGrady are getting real about stretch marks, body image, and why postpartum bodies are “badass.”

This week, the two sat down for a Q&A published on The Big Bang Theory star’s lifestyle website Grok Nation in honor of McGrady, 23, who appeared in February’s Sports Illustrated‘s swimsuit issue as the publication’s “curviest” model, wearing nothing but body paint.

The 5-foot-11, size-16 beauty reflected on her early days of modeling when she tried to adapt to the industry’s rigid weight restrictions, telling Bialik: “You know what? It wasn’t normal for me, and I knew that all along, but I thought that was what I had to do to be a model. So I wouldn’t eat, and I would work out for four hours a day. And I tried to keep my hips at 36 inches, which is now my waist size! I kept trying to convince myself to keep it up by thinking, You’re never going to be a model if you can’t keep starving yourself. It was just something that I could not keep up.”

At age 16 and a size 2, McGrady recalls the “turning point” in her career when she walked into a booked modeling job, only to be dismissed by the director, who said, “We didn’t realize how big you were.” McGrady told Bialik, “I was so angry, and I thought, This is not how I’m going to live my life.”

After taking a three-year break from modeling, during which McGrady felt like “I’m going to eat pasta if I frigging want it!” she signed with Wilhelmina Models and her career skyrocketed — she went on to appear in campaigns for Lucky, Lane Bryant, and Bare Necessities. But her most important role may be body-positive advocate. On Instagram, McGrady keeps her 336,000 followers posted on her workout regime and her previous struggles with body image.

McGrady tells Bialik that to reach her current size, she abandoned her diet of “a lot of salad with no dressing” and began eating three meals a day. “I felt really beautiful in that,” she told Bialik about her body. And that includes McGrady’s stretch marks.

#flashbackfriday At age 15 I was told by 4 agencies that I needed to lose 3 inches off of my hips to be a model which would have put me at a size 00. I would desperately work out for hours and eat few calories per day, HOPING I could fit the bill. It wasn't until 18 years old, 3 years of insecurities brought on because I thought I wasn't good enough, that I wouldn't measure up! I realized that my body was not built to be that thin. Today, I'm so thankful I'm able to pursue my dream and still promote a healthy body image. He will fill the desires of your heart! Chains are broken! I see it in so many young girls these days who are striving to have a thigh gap, or for their hip bones to stick out, or to fit a size 0. Not everyone's body structure is made like that. Be the healthiest you, you can be. Be active, use the things God provided for you, focus on HIM and Embrace the body The Lord gave you! HE CREATED YOU IN HIS PERFECT IMAGE! You can't deny his sweet creations!

Bailik chimed in, “I was a very late bloomer, and my breasts grew very quickly, so I have stretch marks on my breasts, but I didn’t have stretch marks until I birthed my two children. I’m going to be really honest with you: I don’t love my stretch marks the way you do. I just don’t.”

McGrady replied, “For women who have had kids, to me those stretch marks signify that you are able to carry a child in your body; it’s so powerful! Your stomach grew because of it, and that is, excuse my language, f***ing badass!”

There has been endless speculation as to whether Bialik, who plays a neurobiologist on The Big Bang Theory, wears a “fat suit” on the show, and she has spoken passionately on the pressure to remain thin in Hollywood, saying on her website, “The norm has become a seamless, fat-free, streamlined body. Like we are made of plastic … like we are mannequins, really. That’s the look.”

The two women clearly share a vision for female empowerment. “My main objective is I want people to feel comfortable around me,” says McGrady. “I want people to look at me and my body so that if they can relate to me in any way, that hopefully they can go about their day and not stress, that if they put on a bra and there’s a little bulge on the side, it’s not a big deal.”
